Essay Comparing Beowulf And Nelson Mandela
Imagine waking up one day to find that the civil rights that you had possessed the day before
were deprived. Would you be the one to initiate a civil rights movement to regain it? Rarely are
there cases of a true hero that s willing to fight for, not just their rights, but others in their group.
Even if they didn t intend to gain recognition for doing it, many are written down in history as a
major influence in society. These heroes could look like the average citizen, however, when
circumstances call for it, they ll step up and be a herowith a courageous mentality. They display
characteristics that society values in a hero, such as determination, courage, and altruism.
Our culture value heroes because they display traits that are similar to any average citizen, however,

Both of them are genuinely determined. Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to end apartheid in
South Africa. He was able to tolerate twenty seven years in prison, while continuing to fight for
desegregation, equality, and black suffrage. As king of the Geats, Beowulf also dedicated his
life to protect the people, especially when he was aging and had to defeat a monster that was
powerful. Both Mandela and Beowulf display forgiving characteristics. Even after Mandela
suffered twenty seven years imprisoned, he forgave those involved in his imprisonment, going
as far as sharing his Nobel Peace prize with former and last president during the apartheid era,
Frederik Willem de Klerk. Beowulf was also forgiving. When he discovered the theft that stole
the fire dragon s treasures, he didn t blame him or use him as a sacrifice, Instead, he was dragged
along, but Beowulf wouldn t allow him to be killed, and in the end, the theft survived by running
away. Even though Beowulf and Mandela display traits that are similar to each other, they also
have distinct differences that sets apart a real life hero and a fictional

Analyzing Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach, And Nite Owl
Comic books have picked up popularity as a method for scholars to gain insight as to how society
confronts problems. The purpose of my research is to investigate the masculinity of the vigilante
and how it hinges on their use of violence and sexuality. The three heroes I will analyze Dr.
Manhattan, Rorschach, and Nite Owl. Each portrays their masculinitythrough sexuality and
violence differently. To accurately understand the concepts aforementioned, it is imperative the
reader look to the gutter of the comic. The gutter as defined by Scott McCloud is when the Human
imagination takes two separate images and transforms them into a single idea (McCloud 66). In his
chapter blood in the gutter McCloud explains, violence often happens inside the gutter to protect
reader s sensibility. However, violence is not the only thing that happens in the gutter, anything
deemed perhaps too risquГ© also happens in the gutter. Therefore, much of the character s sexuality
will also take place in the gutter. Readers must use their imagination to create closure from the gaps
that the gutter leaves. When the gutter is taken into consideration most of what defines a hero s
masculinity takes place there.
The first character I want to discuss is Dr. Manhattan and how his sexuality and use of violence play
into his performance of masculinity. Dr. Manhattan cannot understand the human conceptions of
sexuality or the true repercussions of violence; therefore, he uses the ideology of society to go

Negatives Of Paying College Athletes
How would paying college athletes be economically beneficial to students, college athletes, and
colleges? This topic has many controversial answers. In his article Sharing the Wealth with
College Athletes, William C. Rhoden states, In fact, the revenue plan is aimed and designed to be
a perk for seniors that complete the cycle: Those who play hard and earn their degrees (8). He
further explains how colleges reward their collegeathletes. A contradicting point of view to
Rhoden s is shared in Joe Posnanski s article College Athletes Should Not be Paid . According to
this article he states, No, college athletics is not about the players. College athletics is FOR the
players (Posnanski). In saying this he reveals he does not support the paying of college athletes.
Although Rhoden s article doesn t specifically speak of the paying of athletes it refers to the
substitution after they earn it per say. Paying college athletes. Many think it would not be
economically beneficial. How would paying college athletes be economically beneficial? Paying
college athletes would be economically beneficial because it would allow for more academic
scholarships instead of more sports scholarships, help the college athletes by receiving the payment
to pay for other necessities and enhancing their performance, and giving the colleges less trouble
with athletes dropping out or having to resign. Correspondingly, paying college athletes would
benefit the students of that college because

Research Paper
November 25, 2014
On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot
to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town
just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police
brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even
the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many
things that led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend
Dorian Johnson were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a
$48.00 box of Swisher Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting
the crime, a strong armed robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed
robbery ... occurs when there is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in
mind, we cannot assume that Michael Brown had a gun. We can also not say that he may have had
a gun, but just decided to not show it to the convenience store clerk in order to intimidate him or
her during the robbery. When Brown and Johnson left the store, they had a ten minute walk to get
back to where they lived. When they were walking home, they were walking in the middle of the
street when Officer Darren Wilson ordered

A wind farm supervisory control (WFSC) is developed to generate the active power reference to
the RSC and GSC. WTG controllers then regulate each DFIG wind turbine to generate the desired
amount of active power, where the deviations between the available wind energy input and
desired active power output are compensated by the ESS. Simulation is done in Matlab for the
grid connected wind farm, the wind farm consists of 15 DFIG wind turbines each with 4MW
capacity at different and constant wind speeds. A constant active power Pref is taken at 38MW
which can be specified by the grid operator and the wind farm has to supply this constant active
power. Simulation results are studied for the active power supplied by wind farm with and without
Energy Storage System (ESS). Here we can observe that with ESS the active power supplied by
wind farm is almost constant.
2.Doubly Fed Induction Generator Systems For variable speed systems with limited variable
speed range, e.g. В±30% of synchronous speed, the DFIG can be an interesting solution. As
mentioned earlier the reason for this is that power electronic converter only has to handle a fraction
(20 30%) of the total power. This means that the losses in the power electronic converter can be

Clinton s Assault Rifle Ban
Clinton s assault rifle ban in the nineties. Some may argue that this violates Second Amendment
rights, since it eliminates some choice in magazines for firearms. However, no federal judge has
ruled that the New York ban is unconstitutional, so a national version of the NY SAFE act should
be constitutional as well.
The Gun Show Loophole With the current gun control regulations in America, all federally
licensed dealers must run background checks on their transactions. However, not all sellers have
to be licensed, including those who sell at gun shows (Sherman, 2016). This creates what
Democrats refer to as the Gun Show Loophole, where people who would be denied the purchase of

99). This analysis assumes that all crime guns purchased at gun shows would have failed a proper
background check, although this is not true in reality. With that assumption, closing the gun show
loophole would prevent 1,394 assault by firearm related injuries, and save over $4 billion each
year. It is unclear as to whether or not the statistic on crime guns coming from gun shows
remains at two percent now, it being twenty years later. Though the $4 billion benefit for the
$850 million cost sounds promising, these numbers have the highest margins of error out of the
three options, simply because of the lack of data. A supermajority of Americans favor making
private gun sales and sales at gun shows subject to background checks, with 80% of republicans
and 83% of democrats supporting the idea (Pew Research Center, 2013). However, only 57%
supported Senate measures to do so back in 2013, citing that the bills included restrictions beyond
background checks, and opened a slippery slope towards more government power, (Pew Research
Center, 2013). Any bill that aims to close the gun show loophole would have to do just that, and
nothing more. Extending its reach any farther than that would not garner the same supermajority of
support that we found with this relatively simple alternative. Therefore, this policy leaves gun
owners with a high amount of liberty, since there will be

This capital will reduces its financial ratios so they meet the restrictions if it issues the new
equity, but it might not be sustainable for the coming years because it is not reoccurring cash
flow and Friendly Cards will need to borrow more capital for further growth. If the sales continue
to grow at the current rate in the future the ratios could increase again. This would not be good for
long term growth due to the fact that it will sell its stock for a discount and if the other two options
are executed the extra capital will not be necessary (See Exhibit 4).

EPS and dilute the shares. Due to the stock markets recent crash and down turn, the shares will be

Example Of Knowledge Argument
INTRODUCTION OF THE THESIS According to Currie (2015), philosophy is the activity of
searching for a reflective understanding of ourselves and also to know about the natural and
social worlds we live in. As we know, philosophy is also related to the phrase thinking about
thinking. We can get to know what is actually happening in this world and we also will solve some
of the confusions that we face in life. Knowledge is the fact and information of knowing something
that through some experiences. In addition, argument is the process of arguing or disagreeing about
a statement that has discussed. For example, we might argue about the statement that we have the
opposite view from the others so we start to make up some proves to solve this matter. In this
assignment, we will discuss about the knowledge argument. From a thesis that we have read, we
could identify its position stated by Frank Jackson.
Knowledge argument stands against physicalism which is proposed by Frank Jackson. Physicalism
or materialism is distinguished with phenomenal consciousness of experiences that depicts mind is
subjective and implies physicality.
Frank Jackson believes that the physical truth seen is not always the whole truth. There is also
phenomenal truths learnt through the things we see where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Song Of Roland Analysis
In Song of Roland, the ideas of chivalry and loyalty to one s king are central. Throughout the text,
the author uses the concepts of good versus evil, shown by the Christians versus Muslims, as well
as loyalty versus treason, shown by Roland versus Ganelon, to highlight and exemplify the ideals of
the code of knighthood. The main character, Roland, is often presented as being an exemplary knight
; he personifies the conventional chivalric values of the time such as bravery and loyalty, but he
also struggles to balance these values in order to be a responsible leader. Roland is in stark
contrast to his stepfather, Ganelon, as well as being in slight contrast to his close friend, Oliver.
These contrasts of character come to a climax as the battle against the Muslim army at
Roncesvalles begins; Oliver and Roland debate over whether they should call the king to help
them, leading to the eventual demise of the French army. This specific scene brings to light the
ideological dilemma of bravery versus wisdom and logic, by utilizing Roland as an example of
the former, and Oliver of the latter. Roland, as evidenced by this situation, displays perfect loyalty
to one s king and God by being incredibly brave in the face of danger, making sacrifices that he
sees are necessary, and fought valiantly until his death, all the while keeping the utmost faith in his
God and king.
Throughout Song of Roland, Roland often puts himself in extreme amounts of danger, without
fear of the consequences for himself or others; he was often brave even to the point of excess. In
his bravery, he often overlooks the concerns and feelings of others, even those of his closest
companions. For example, from the beginning of the battle with the Muslims it was quite obvious
that the small rear guard led by Roland had no chance of victory; they were just too small. When
Oliver suggests using the oliphant to call King Charlemagne s aid, Roland refuses, saying [m]ay it
never please god that my kin should be shamed because of me, or that sweet France should fall
into disgrace. Never! Never! I ll strike with Durendal, I ll strike with this good sword strapped to
my side, you ll see this blade running its whole length with blood (1,062 1,067). While

some organization the operations manager might be called by other name (Morton 1999). In this

UFOs: Are They Real?
UFOs have been one of the greatest mysteries of all times. From the beginning of time humans
have seen UFOs. The real mystery is whether or not a UFO is a ship from another planet. There
have been numerous reports of flying saucers. Many of them have been able to be explained and
some were even elaborate hoaxes. But still, there are a few out there that are unexplainable and
could quiet possibly be visitors from somewhere else in the universe. Even the government has
admitted after long studies that some of the reported cases seem to lean towards extraterrestrials.
UFO stands for unidentified flying object. Therefore the facts clearly show that UFOs are real.

The next morning a team of Royal Air Force scientists were sent to the site. They found three
holes in the ground in a perfect equilateral triangle and in the middle was a piece of scorched
earth. There was also a line on all the nearby trees about 4 feet off the ground (Kettelkamp 19).
The scientists used a Geiger counter and found extremely high radiation readings from the site. The
next night the object appeared again in a nearby field. When investigated the site was similar to the
one from the previous night. The official report stated that the object that showed up on the radar
and was later seen in Rendlesham Forest could not be identified (Kettelkamp 24).
Sightings of UFOs have not been limited to just on Earth. There have also been many sightings
by astronauts in space. Gemini 7 photographed what appeared to be two flying saucers. Apollo 8
may have photographed what was a giant spaceship near the moon. On their next orbit the object
had disappeared. Apollo 11 may have also spotted a UFO near the moon. Possibly the most
famous and mysterious sighting is the picture taken by the Viking satellite. The photo shows what
looks to be a giant face on Mars. The face looks remarkably similar to the face on the Sphinx in
Egypt. Some believe it could be a giant monument from an alien race that once lived on Mars
(Kettelkamp 7). Photographic analysis could not identify any of the reported objects.

Zero Tolerance
The zero tolerance policies call for students to receive automatic suspensions or expulsions as
punishment for certain offenses, primarily those involving weapons, threats, or drugs. I agree that
safety is an important concern in schools, but sometimes the zero tolerance policy is taken too far. It
is as if administrators don t distinguish between minor and major discretions.

If anything, he/she might have gotten the idea from television or video games. I understand that
those who are disruptive to the learning process should be removed from school. It is not fair to
other students who actually want to learn. If they aren t very disruptive, I think other punishments
should be implemented, such as in school suspensions.
In the movie we watched, it discussed an eight year old boy who was suspended for playing with a
paper gun. I see no harm in this. He obviously wasn t trying to hurt anyone; he just wanted to
play cowboys and Indians like a normal young boy. However, due to the zero tolerance act, he
was suspended. I see no fairness. I would understand if he would have purposely hurt someone
with his paper gun, but he was just pretending. Also in another school, a school mascot wasn t
allowed to carry a cardboard sword around. It s not as if he wanted to attack someone with this
fake sword; it is just part of his costume.
Again, I don t think this is at all fair.
If I had it my way, I would tone down the zero tolerance act. It just punishes too harshly for some
things. I think that it needs to distinguish the difference between minor problems, like playing with
a toy gun, and major problems, like having drugs. I completely understand that schools just want to
make the environment violence free, but this just can t be done by punishing light offenders. The

A box, that is where my story begins. I was born in China to an unknown mother during the time of

children were taken from their parents by the government. At the time it was illegal for a Chinese
mother to abandon her child. This meant that if mothers wanted to provide their child a safe and

Toyotomi Hideyoshi s Life In Medieval Japan
In the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and
Tokugawa Ieyasu, successfully created a unified Japanese state by bringing to an end the civil wars.
The most ingenious man of those three unifiers was Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Although primarily this
examination will focus on Hideyoshi as a conquering hero , the efforts and influence that the other
unifiers had on Hideyoshi s life and society in the latter half of sixteenth century Japan will not go
entirely unnoticed. I examine the important events and changes that occurred in medieval Japan at

state.

Under the dictator Toyotomi Hideyoshi, samuraipower reached its most ostentatious development.
Balancing progress in civility by continued practice of the military arts, the samurai engaged
heavily in national and local administration simply because they were understood by the rest of
Japanese society as those who had the power to resolve conflicts and keep the peace. Himself a
samurai, and successful military leader and administrator, Hideyoshi also brought his power onto
the social prestige of the high nobility, eventually legitimating himself through the title of kampaku,
or imperial regent. Just over four hundred years earlier, at the height of samurai power, amidst the
chaos and uncertainty of civil war, the populace of medieval Japan lived under the samurai regime.
For more than seven centuries Japan was dominated by this military caste, and today it still greatly
influences social moral and spirit. Therefore, it is necessary to some degree to study and understand
the actions of the samurai, as it is from this position that Hideyoshi ultimately succeeded in winning
the tenka (the realm) and thereby serving as its ruling

Medical School Should Be A Medical Program
There are thousands universities/colleges in the United States that have a medical school/program.
For those students interested in going into the medical field, deciding on what college to attend
can be very tricky. Students always want to attend the best university out there, but that isn t
always the easiest decision because of certain road blocks. For example, those who live in Arizona
have the chance to go to U of A; there is also the opportunity to go to U of W (University of
Washington). While both schools have a medical program, the University of Washington has more
to offer Arizonian students than the University of Arizona.
When students are looking into the medical school they should attend, they should look into the
school s rank. According to Carleen Eaton, author of Getting into Medical School For Dummies,
one of the factors that students should consider is the medical school rank. After the required years
of undergrad and medical school are complete, students will have to go begin their residency. The
school s ranking can help in that. According to the U.S.News and World Report Education, UW is
ranked #1 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care and #8 Best Medical Schools: Research, while U of
A is ranked #63 Best Medical Schools: Research, and #74 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care .
Eaton says that going to a big name medical school can help when it s time to enter residency, and
UW is named the number one best medical schools: primary care and U of A is

Pros And Cons Of E-Learning
E learning
E learning is a new field of learning based on technologies that emerged in last few decades. The
number of learners who use e learning is increasing and become larger than before. This article
shows an overview of e learning , pros , and cons of using it.
Definition of e learning e learning defined as learning utilizing electronic technologies to access
educational curriculum outside of a traditional classroom (what is learning?, n.d ). Another
definition is is an umbrella term that describes education using electronic devices and digital media
(E learning, November, 5, 2015). The letter e refers to electronic , Luskin (2001) explains e as
exciting, energetic, emotional, and educational..
History of e learning
The term e learning has been used frequently since the development of internet in late of 20th
century, distance courses has been offered by educational institutions and academies for learners
who want to learn specific subjects and skills or for those who prefer e learning due to their real
life circumstances. In 1984, the first software MAC give people opportunity for individuals to
have computers in their homes and establish easier learning through online. Also, by the year of
2000 , many of companies and institutions used e learning to train and improve their employees to
gain basics to be suitable for their jobs. Tools for successful e learning such as internet, computers ,
and laptops become widespread around the world (Gogos,2014). Approaches of e learning
Synchronous learning
Learning and teaching process occurs at the same time, the trainer and learners interact with each
other and share the ideas, details, and solutions during the session while they are physically
separated from place shift . There are many examples of synchronous learning such as virtual
classroom, audio/video conferencing, online lectures, listening to a live radio broadcast, and two
way live satellite broadcast .( Yakaraju G ,2014)
Desynchronous learning
The main distinction between synchronous learning and this approach is that no interaction
between trainer and learners because learning and teaching process occurs in separated times (not at
the same time give the opportunities

Dbq World War 1 Analysis
As stated by Roosevelt, We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear and paranoia were only one
force adding pressure to Europe before it burst into full out war. Anyone with extensive knowledge
on The Great War could probably give a list of copious causations, among those being nationalistic
tendencies, the alliance system, paranoia, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
World War Iwas primarily sparked through the assassination, with underlying tones of nationalism,
alliances, and paranoia fueling the fire. Nationalistic ego on part of Europeas a whole boiled
Ferdinand s assassination into action, pushing Europe into war. [Serbia] has done nothing to
suppress these[rebellious] movements (Doc 3). Austria Hungary had no compassion to the
thoughts of the Serbian citizens while they ruled over them, only thinking of more territory they
could dominate, and in turn, terrorist groups like The Black Hand, sprouted and eventually were
successful in their mission. However, Austria Hungary and Serbia were not alone in blame. The
entirety of Europe were imperializing areas in Africa, Asia, and North America. Due to their land

be overlooked unless you took a very in depth history class. It probably wouldn t have mattered.

Castles In Japan Research Paper
Castles in Japan were built for two main purposes. First, it was built as a defensive platform.
Daimyo (feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they could retreat during an
attack. Both the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it are fortified with numerous defenses.
The main keep of the castlealso stored food and weapons in case of prolonged battles.
A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of course, the grander
the castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo.
Japan s history is intimately intertwined with the history of castles. Castles have their roots in
defense built around the homes of warlords. Preceding the rise of Nobunaga, Japan was divided
into a great many small provinces each ruled by a different warlord for nearly two centuries. The

They evolved from the wooden fortress of earlier centuries to their best known form in the 16th

crossings, or crossroads. They almost always incorporated the landscape into their defenses as well.
Although they were built to endure and used more stone in their construction than most Japanese
buildings, castles were still constructed primarily of wood. Many were destroyed over the years,
especially during the Sengoku (Warring States) period (1467 1603). However, many were rebuilt
later during the Sengoku period and the following Edo period (1603 1867).
Today there are more than one hundred castles remain, or partially remain, in Japan. It is estimated
that there were once five thousand of them. Some castles, such as the ones at Matsue and KЕЌchi

other threats. In contrast, Hiroshima Castle was destroyed in the atomic bombing, and was rebuilt

When Mary Shelly wrote her 1818 classic Frankenstein, she subtitled it The Modern Prometheus.
She compared the character of Dr. Victor Frankenstein a highly intelligent scientist to the Greek

and Prometheus which could be the reason why Mary Shelly subtitled her novel The Modern

When I was thirteen years of age, we all went on a party of pleasure to the baths near Thonon:
the inclemency of the weather obliged us to remain a day confined to the inn. In this house I
chanced to find a volume of the works of Cornelius Agrippa. I opened it with apathy; the theory
which he attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this
feeling into enthusiasm. A new light seemed to dawn upon my mind; and, bounding with joy, I
communicated my discovery to my father. When I returned home, my first care was to procure
the whole works of this author, and afterwards of Paracelsus and Albertus Magnus. I read and
studied the wild fancies of these writers with delight; they appeared to me treasures known to
few beside myself. (Chapter 2) Victor attends college at an early age and surpasses the

Social Classes In Plato s Republic
Just as the soul has three distinct parts that compose it the republic has three distinct social
classes and without each of the three parts, the republic cannot function properly. There is
dependability among the three social classes in the republic because people cannot survive alone,
a farmer won t make his own plough, not if it s to be a good one, nor his hoe, nor any of his other
farming tools. Neither will a builder and he, too, needs lots of things (Republic, II, 370d).
Dependability will become a key element amongst the citizens because one man alone cannot
maintain an entire republic, he cannot take on twenty distinct roles in society at the same time. This
will not uphold an entire city and will only prevent the republic from having

Cervical Spine
In the article, Assessment of the Cervical Spine Range of Motion After the Use of the Saunders
Traction Device in Different Positioning of the Upper Extremities, cervical spine complaints are
seen to be increasing due in part to our society becoming more health aware.1 The pain begins
with increased tension or stiffness in the muscles of the posterior neck, with varying levels of pain
that begin to spread to other areas of the body over time. The positioning of the head towards
protraction, pushing forward the shoulders, and an increase in spine inclination is the cause of the
pain. If this pain goes untreated, range of motion of the area will decrease, resulting in an overload
of other areas attempting to compensate for the injured site. These... Show more content on

This excerpt from Live in Myths, written by Ellen Goodman is a fabulous example of all the
different kinds of relationships and their participants who have an excellent sustainability to spend

meaning of this piece is her friend. Her friend is continuously apologizing for her husbands
unapologetic behavior, saying, He is not really like that, when he most definitely has been this way
since the time they first started dating. The woman uses the word cranky is order to describe her

All these unanswered questions bring out a lot of possibilities because it is not everyday that
we see someone like the woman. It must be so difficult for her to be living with her myth as well
as her man . Here the author personifies her myth as if it is another person altogether with
different personalities. In this excerpt the myth is usually what the person actually wants.
Therefore they believe the opposite person is like that in order to save him or herself of getting
disappointed over and over again. I know of a couple where a woman believes that her husband
never cheats on her. After finding text messages and e mails from the other woman, she yet prefers
to believe that her husband could never do such a thing. She is yet living with the man, though the
man has made it very clear that he is not in love with her anymore and would want her to move
out. But she refuses. She believes she could make him fall in love with her all over again and
then things would get better. It makes me sad every time my mother and I go to meet her. Her
hope for the future gives me the strength to endure all the difficulties in my life the way she did.
But at the same time it baffles me how she could be so blind to her husband s character and yet

Ramzi Yousef s Terrorism Goes Global
Introduction
When the term Terrorist is the topic of conversation in businesses or social gatherings, images of
individuals wearing mask or head gear come to mind. However, todays terrorist is hard to pinpoint
because of their ambiguous character/feature. Unlike traditionally armed, and uniformed soldiers,
terrorists may be any person representing any country around the world. Once considered
uneducated, cladded middle eastern attire, or a rogue demeanor depicted by a lack of grooming
standards. Most Americans view middle easterners involved in terrorist activities to look like
Osama Bin Laden or somewhat similar.
One coincidental and sure fact that is known about terrorism, is that it has in fact gone global .

Ramzi Yousef found no satisfaction in his successful assault on the WTC, he wanted to send the
message early on that he could reach his reign of terror to as Far East as the United States and its
allies reached. Unfortunately, next on his hit list was Manila, plotting another airline disaster, and
by doing so, Ramzi Yousef was no longer a local terrorist, but acquired the status of an international
terrorist.
To exacerbate matters, Ramzi Yousef was captured and arrested in Pakistan in 1995, yet planning
more terror attacks targeting Asia. Paul Pillar s article, points out several key elements and what
characterized Yousef and the team that carried out the successful attack in 1993. First, he identified
all members of the WTC attack as unaffiliated to any known terrorist group. Each came together for
one purpose, and all had the freedom to travel from one point to another undetected. Additionally, a
vulnerability on passport checks at international borders was clearly established and identified that
despite our best intentions highly discontented people can bring about the malignant combination
of ringleader, collaborators, and target. Secondly, Paul Pillar asserts that modern day terrorist utilize
technology to their advantages without the risk of being captured. Today, the war against ISIS is
waged on the ground globally, but with collaborators internationally. The overwhelming growing

What Caused The Seven Year War
The Seven Year War going from 1756 to 1763, was the first global war, which starts in North
America and spreads to Europe and all around the world. It begins when Britain declares war on
France. Imperial rivals, France and Britain struggled for supremacy. Early in the war, The French
(helped by Canadian militia and Aboriginal allies) defeated a number of British attacks and
captured several British forts. This war laid the bicultural foundations of modern Canada.
The Seven Year War was caused by ongoing tension between Great Britain and France. Also,
Russian and Austrian fears of Prussia s growing power in Europe. It ended up to further colonial
supremacy for Great Britain and much acknowledgment of Prussia as a major European power.

4. The flow velocity increases as the flow gets closer to the barrier wall and reduces as it moves
away from the wall. This is because as the flow rate is constant (Conservation of mass) while the
area of the flow cross section decreases when it gets closer to the barrier wall, the flow velocity
increases. This is best understood by referring to the continuity equation,
Alternatively, it can also be explained by referring to the equation , where the k value is constant
while the hydraulic gradient i defined by i = О”H/L increases because the head difference О”H is
constant while the flow length L becomes shorter when it gets closer to the barrier wall.

Donald Trump Pros
3 Things Donald Trump s Presidential win taught us
Donald Trump won the US elections to the absolute disbelieve of many. This were people who
refused to pay close attention to facts some of which were discoursed months before the election by
Charisma on Command and Scot Adams.
We ve learned a few things from Trump s win some of which I d share with you.
1). Don t believe anything you see on the media
I was amazed at some of the fake news about Trump I saw circulating various African news
websites and the funny thing is that people believed them without doing research.
Prior to the election, it was evident the mainstream media was pro Hillary. They tried so hard to
protect Hillary while always taking a jab at Trump.
None of them as far as I know gave any indication that Trump won the presidential debates. But if

Most major news outlets, public figures and average folks tried to make everyone that supported
Trump seem like a sexists, racists, homophobes, islamophobes, and this was just a terrible decision.
It rather filled the fire behind Trump s supporters, and encouraged more people to secretly vote in
support of Trump (Stockholm Trump Syndrome you may say)
3). Bad publicity is better than no publicity
Trump said this in his book, Art of the Deal , and it has proven to work for him during his
presidential campaign.
Trump has said some foolish things during his campaign. But some of the things he said have been
blown out of propulsion by the mainstream media.
Trump also made very polarising statements that helped to keep him 24 hours on the news, and he
uses each coverage for marketing.

The Pact Between Tata Motors and Fiat
Analyzing and serving the consumer
International marketing is an important factor in serving organizations to develop into becoming
globally competitive. Companies who operate within domestic markets purely are having
difficulties competing with a global organization. Therefore, what does it take to move an
organization globally? According to Cateora, Gilly, and Graham (2013), international marketing is
the performance of business activities designed to plan, price, promote, and direct flow of the

Fiat needing a partner
As previously indicated, Fait was faced with economic issues. They turned to their defined strategy
which consisted of a targeted coalition through the automobile value chain (Cullen Parboteeah,
2011). This meant that the two organizations would syndicate together in product development, the
manufacturing of the products, the sourcing of raw materials, and the distribution of their goods.
Both companies would utilize each other to gain strength in the automobile industry. This strategy
was a strong move towards gaining market share within India and other global markets such as
Europe and Latin America. Fiat was extremely slow moving in acclimating to the changes in the
economic market and needed an innovative vision to be successful.
Fiat and Tata as partners
Fiat had some very tough competition in India and one of the fiercest was Tata Motors. In the
business world it is essential to erect a relationship with your partners (Prabhakar, 2010). This
theory proved to work for Fiat. This partnership help both companies experience growth through
the use of each other s grouped strategies. An example of this collaboration was Fiat took

Cue for Treason Essay
Tia Berardi ENG 1D1 Ms.Oliver Monday April 2nd 2012 Several Characters Can Have Loyalty
Not everyone possesses the quality of loyalty, but those that do are worth having a relationship
with. The author of Cue for Treason, Geoffry Trease, demonstrates this trait in many of the
characters. The most loyal bond in this book, which took place very early on in the novel, was
Peter and Kit s. One of the most significant bonds has to be amongst the Secret Agents, the Queen,

situations get rough. Although the pair fights numerous times, in the end they are always there for
each other, and never betray each other s trust. But, this is not the last time loyalty was shown. The
Secret Agents show loyalty to the Queen, protecting her in every way possible, therefore
demonstrating loyalty to all of England as well. One of the first was a man by the name of

Secret Agency would not be as successful, It was Walsingham who built up a wonderful system of

In December of 1997, 160 countries gathered in Kyoto, Japan to agree upon a Protocol that will
curb emissions and hopefully restore emission levels to pre industrial numbers. This Protocol is the
Kyoto Protocol established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Control. It is

The atmospheres absorption of this energy helps keep our average global temperature at an ideal
level for life. Notably important is the temperature of our oceans. Our oceans are compared to a
sink for carbon dioxide, in that they hold much of the carbon dioxide that would otherwise be in
the atmosphere (Wikipedia, 2011). As the temperature of the oceans rise, they absorb less and
less carbon dioxide. Thus increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and
increasing the global mean temperature, creating a snowball like effect, that would be nearly
impossible to reverse. To prevent this catastrophe the Kyoto Protocol was established as a global
legally binding agreement (Wikipedia, 2011). The objective of this agreement was to provide
financing for developing countries. The financial aid would go towards new technologies to help
these countries develop in a more sustainable manner. The Protocol also hoped to install
mechanisms that report, verify, and review the carbon emissions of each country. Lastly, the
countries that helped create the Kyoto Protocol wanted it to be a legally binding agreement that had
consequences for countries who failed to meet their emission target. The Kyoto Protocol was
established as a part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Control (UNFCCC).

Environmental Factors Influence On Behaviors
On the nature verse nurture debate, it is difficult to choose one side. On one hand biology and
genetics can influence individuals. It can cause them to be more social, have disorders, and even
be the cause of social factors. On the other hand, nurture also has an effect on the behaviors of
individuals. Both of them are scientifically proven to have an effect on an individual s personality
and behaviors. There is evidence that suggest that neither one of them is completely responsible
for behaviors, they both play major roles. From the perspective of a scientist, they may see
biological factors to have a stronger influence, but from a sociologist perspective they may see
social and environmental factors as being more influential. After extensive research, I believe
environmental factors have a greater influence on the behaviors and personalities of individuals.
The debate of whether nature or nurture are the main causes of behavior have been around for years.
In my opinion, environmental factors have a larger influence on an individual s behavior, rather
than genetic factors. The environment that a child is raised in is a key factor in how they are going
to behave as they grow up. A household filled with rude and ignorant members is more likely to
produce a child with the same qualities, than a household of welcoming and respectful people.
These morals, values and beliefs form a system that facilitates decision making throughout the
course of an individuals life

Scapegoats In Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies Essay The use of scapegoats impacts our society to large extent because it
impacts many of our set ideals placed in American society today. Although there are different
sides of scapegoating, the one that falls into the parameters of prejudices in today s society.
Many innocent victims fall to the idea of scapegoating, by trying to avoid punishment. For
example: Are all Anglos, Republican? Are all Muslims, terrorists? Are all African Americans and
Hispanics in gangs? Are all minorities on welfare? Are all Italians in the Mafia? Are all Hispanics
here illegally?Although we have learned to call these type of statements stereotypical and in some
cases profiling. Scapegoating is an act in which a person unfairly blames someone... Show more

The word scapegoat is described in the Bible s Book of Leviticus. The passage goes something
like this: On the Day of Atonement a live goat was chosen by lot. The high priest, robed in linen
garments, laid both his hands on the goat s head, and confessed over it the iniquities of the
children of Israel. The sins of the people thus symbolically transferred to the beast, it was taken
out into the wilderness and let go. The people felt purged, and for the time being, guiltless. Since
the biblical times the term/word scapegoat has changed to refer to individuals or people who are
made to suffer the problems and faults of others. Scapegoating seems to be a psychological act,
in which it allows the perpetrator to eliminate negative feelings about him or himself and provides
a sense of relief. There have been many incidents of scapegoating in the past year itself. One of the
most used scapegoats would be God , Conversely, God is also a convenient scapegoat. According to
people s logic, if God is so perfect, why does he allow bad things to happens to people who serve
him? In fact as many as в…” of americans surveyed have blamed god for their

Movement Framing Examples
The act of framing is without a doubt a tactical strategy. During the organization of a social
movement, framing was as a way to assign meaning (McAdam, 339) or look at events in ways that
could inspire support from both group members and the common people while subjugating the
opposing party. McAdam (339) states, Mediating between opportunity and action are people and
the... meanings they attach to their situations. The events that occur during the rise of a social
movement all present opportunities to help members achieve their goal but in order to even act
upon these opportunities, the people involved must frame their situation in a way that will draw
support to their cause. During the Civil Rights movement, the use of framing, on both sides, greatly
influenced the outcome of social reform. McAdam states that there are six strategies social
movement groups can employ to bring about change. In the case of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and
the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), even though blacks could now vote legal
subterfuge and extralegal intimidation prevented them from taking part of political reform in the
south (McAdam, 345). This intimidation extended as far as murder to prevent the... Show more

King and SCLC are a prime examples of the use of framing; drawing great media coverage with
the use of nonviolent tactics. The use of these provocative strategies created a demand for
answers. McAdams (347) states quite simply, no black leader ever sounded like King... Dr. King s
ideology was new and profound, mixing Christian and Democratic ideas; the most important,
framing the movement as a way to heal the nation after such a long period of segregation and racial
discrimination. King and the SCLC also depended on the violent nature of their opponents in the
south to further frame their movement. By framing the violence that took place in Birmingham and
Selma, the civil rights movement was able to generate a great deal of sympathetic media

INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this study was to collect information on how people of a particular culture and
region make use of wild plants. Ethnobotany studies the interactions between people and plants in
nature, with influences of botany and anthropology and can contribute to discussions that link
indigenous human populations to areas of interest for biological preservation. Ethnobotany
medicine, the scientific term for traditional health care, encompasses the knowledge, skills,
methods, practices, and beliefs about health care found among the members of a community. These
approaches take into account the interests of indigenous communities involved in such areas in

Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education
America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and
Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope,
their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly
slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that
we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading
articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same
opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor
disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack
of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that
all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major
disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools. James Baldwin
once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is
faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone has the same opportunities needs to wake
up. This is not playtime, there are boys and girls who are struggling for basic needs. Right here in
America their are kids in: East St. Louis, Camden New Jersey, Washington D.C., Bronx New York,
San Antonio Texas, Cincinnati Ohio, southside Chicago, Detroit Michigan, and Alabama who are
not given the equal chances to rise in the world. These kids are faced with but not limited to
poverty, lack of education, crime, dilapidated housing, insufficient healthcare, hunger and
unemployment. East St. Louis the most distressed city in America , the bottom 98% of the
population is black. Вѕ live below poverty level and make less than $7,500 a year. According to
Savage Inequalities, a mother says, it s a terrible way to live (13). The city was so poor it had to lay
off 1,170 of its workforce and it cannot afford to pick up trash regularly. Already $40 million in

Odysseus Changes
The term dynamic is often used in literature to describe a character who changes drastically from
one point in the story to another. When reading The Odyssey an epic poem by Homer, we see that
our protagonist, Odysseus, changes throughout the course of the novel. This essay will argue how
he changes, and also what changes him, such as his travels, his relationships, and how fate and the
Greek gods affect and change him.
From the start of the novel, we find Odysseus on the far off island of Ogygia with the goddess
Calypso, this is ten years after he had initially left to go and fight in the Trojan way. Odysseus
leaves this place to go to the Island of the Phaecians, but has trouble on his way and is humbled
when he is almost killed by Posiedon, god of the sea. Since we are seeing the end of his journey
at first, we can learn from the phaecians about what Odysseus has done even before he left for
troy. We see that despite being the great hero, Odysseus doesn t participate in the Phaecians
games but he refuses because of his grief. On that cue, the noble prince strode up before
Odysseus, front and center, asking, Come stranger, sir, won t you try your hand at our contests
now? If you have skill in any. It s fit and proper to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the cyclops asks Odysseus what his name is, he says that he is Nobody . The men shove a
sharpened stick into the Cyclops s lone eye and escape. This Cyclops, being Poseidon s son, was
not someone that Odysseus should have crossed. We also see Athena, daughter of Zeus, take pity
on Odysseus, and helps him and Telemachus many times, though disguising herself as mentor when

Honesty Services Fraud Case Study
The case of former Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen McDonnell was an
important game changer in politics. They were indicted by the Federal Government on bribery
charges. These charges were due to the acceptance of more than $170,000 in loans, gifts, and other
benefits by a Virginia businessman, Jonnie Williams, while the Governor was in office. Jonnie
Williams was the chief executive officer of Star Scientific, which is a Virginia based company that
developed a nutritional supplement made from anatabine, a compound found in tobacco. This
nutritional supplement called Anatabloc. William claimed that Anatabloc had healing powers and
wanted to continue the research on anatabine. Therefore, William wanted the Governor s... Show

The charges against the Governor were conspiracy to commit honest services fraud (18 U. S.
C.В§1343) and conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act extortion (В§1951(a)). As to Governor spouse,
Maureen McDonnell, she was indicted on obstructing official proceedings (В§1512(c)(2)) and
similar charges as the Governor. The bribery statute states that a crime is committed when a public
official or person selected to be a public official, directly or indirectly, or corruptly demand, receive,
accept to receive or accept anything of value in return for being influenced in the performance of
any official act. В§201(b)(2). Therefore, the Government was required to prove that Governor
McDonnell agreed to commit an official act in exchange for the gifts and loans from Williams. The
Government alleged that the Governor had committed more than five official acts by arranging
meetings, hosting events, promoting Star Scientific s products and contacting other government
officials to encourage the research of anatabine in state universities. The Governor claimed that
doing this kind of meetings or introductions was common and that he did it literally thousands of
times as Governor. The District Court told the jury that in order to convict Governor McDonnell, it
must find that he agreed to accept a thing of value in exchange for official action . The Governor
requested the court to instruct the jury to further explain the meaning of official act but the District
Court declined the proposed instruction to the jury. The jury convicted the Governor on the honest
services fraud and Hobbs Act extortion charges but cleared him on the false statement charges.
After the verdict, the Governor filed a motion to vacate the convictions claiming the jury
instructions were legally erroneous, but the District Court denied the motion. Governor McDonnell
appealed his convictions to

The Role Of Temperance In Jacksonian America
Temperance, the moderation of consumption of alcohol, created conflict between different sets
of ideas and interests because the beginning of American history was heavy with alcohol use.
Alcohol was the meeting point of many. The Marine Corps was started alone in a tavern.
Creating this idea of being more moral because one doesn t drink set people off. As written in our
textbook, one person s sin is another s pleasure or cherished custom (449). The emerging middle
class felt they had more control of themselves because they didn t drink. They brought religion in it
to also make some of the public feel they were sinners for participating in a part of their culture.
One large issue with temperance was the heavy Irish and German immigrants.... Show more content

Anthropology proves to be satisfying and intellectually fulfilling to many in the field.
However, there are also many challenges and bumps in the road along the way. Napolean A.
Chagnon and
Claire Sterk faced many of these challenges themselves. During his fieldwork with the Yanomamo,
Chagnon faced many challenges interacting with the natives. Chagnon could not practically
communicate with the people until about six months after he arrived. He notes ? the hardest thing
to live with was the incessant, passioned, and often aggressive demands they would make.? An
example of this is the natives threatening with a shout such as; ?If you don?t take me with you on

Bennett (1996) described that customer service seeks to establish long term, committed, trusting and
cooperative relationship with customers, characterized by openness, genuine concern for the
delivery of high quality services, responsiveness to customer suggestions, fair dealings and
willingness to sacrifice short term advantage for long term gains. Schneider and Bowen (1999)
advocated that service business can retain customers and achieve profitability by building reciprocal
relationships founded on safeguarding and affirming customer security, fairness and self esteem. It
requires that companies view customers as people first and consumers second. Trust, commitment,
ethical practices, fulfillment of promises, mutual exchange, emotional bonding, personalization and
customer orientation have been reported to be the key elements in the relationship building process
(Levitt,1986; Gronroos, 1994; Morgan,1994; Gummesson,1994; Bejou et al,1998 ).
Customer service refers to all business activities directed towards initiating, establishing,
maintaining, and developing successful long term relational exchanges (Heide, 1994; Reinartz

Power Systems Of Electric Vehicles
I. INTRODUCTION Since the industrial revolution started, the acceleration of technology
development never stopped. However, with the development of new technologies, environment
is suffering the consequences. The rate of Carbon dioxide is increasing rapidly. To mitigate this
pollution, the concept of electric vehicle arose. The electric vehicles contribute in reducing the
carbon dioxide emissions[1]. Thus, the use of electric vehicles is getting more popular as time
goes by. As a result of that, electric vehicles must be integrated to the electric grid. They will be
treated as electric loads, which means that all concepts of power system will be applied on them.
Therefore, when electric vehicles are charged, they will cause voltage drop on the distribution
feeders. Hence, the presence of voltage regulators might change the voltage response of the
system. II. VOLTAGE REGULATION OVERVIEW. In power Systems Distribution, voltage
regulation is an important concept. It deals with ways to maintain a good voltage profile delivered
to the customers. The voltage level at the customer node has to be maintained within a specified
range. There are many standards that determine customer s voltage range. Some standards assume
a variation of +10% or 10%. However, it is determined by the utility based on their circumstances.
III. VOLTAGE REGULATION METHODS The concept of voltage regulation associated with the
electrical distribution system is caused by the radial

  • 2. Essay Comparing Beowulf And Nelson Mandela Imagine waking up one day to find that the civil rights that you had possessed the day before were deprived. Would you be the one to initiate a civil rights movement to regain it? Rarely are there cases of a true hero that s willing to fight for, not just their rights, but others in their group. Even if they didn t intend to gain recognition for doing it, many are written down in history as a major influence in society. These heroes could look like the average citizen, however, when circumstances call for it, they ll step up and be a herowith a courageous mentality. They display characteristics that society values in a hero, such as determination, courage, and altruism. Our culture value heroes because they display traits that are similar to any average citizen, however, what makes them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of them are genuinely determined. Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to end apartheid in South Africa. He was able to tolerate twenty seven years in prison, while continuing to fight for desegregation, equality, and black suffrage. As king of the Geats, Beowulf also dedicated his life to protect the people, especially when he was aging and had to defeat a monster that was powerful. Both Mandela and Beowulf display forgiving characteristics. Even after Mandela suffered twenty seven years imprisoned, he forgave those involved in his imprisonment, going as far as sharing his Nobel Peace prize with former and last president during the apartheid era, Frederik Willem de Klerk. Beowulf was also forgiving. When he discovered the theft that stole the fire dragon s treasures, he didn t blame him or use him as a sacrifice, Instead, he was dragged along, but Beowulf wouldn t allow him to be killed, and in the end, the theft survived by running away. Even though Beowulf and Mandela display traits that are similar to each other, they also have distinct differences that sets apart a real life hero and a fictional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analyzing Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach, And Nite Owl Comic books have picked up popularity as a method for scholars to gain insight as to how society confronts problems. The purpose of my research is to investigate the masculinity of the vigilante and how it hinges on their use of violence and sexuality. The three heroes I will analyze Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach, and Nite Owl. Each portrays their masculinitythrough sexuality and violence differently. To accurately understand the concepts aforementioned, it is imperative the reader look to the gutter of the comic. The gutter as defined by Scott McCloud is when the Human imagination takes two separate images and transforms them into a single idea (McCloud 66). In his chapter blood in the gutter McCloud explains, violence often happens inside the gutter to protect reader s sensibility. However, violence is not the only thing that happens in the gutter, anything deemed perhaps too risquГ© also happens in the gutter. Therefore, much of the character s sexuality will also take place in the gutter. Readers must use their imagination to create closure from the gaps that the gutter leaves. When the gutter is taken into consideration most of what defines a hero s masculinity takes place there. The first character I want to discuss is Dr. Manhattan and how his sexuality and use of violence play into his performance of masculinity. Dr. Manhattan cannot understand the human conceptions of sexuality or the true repercussions of violence; therefore, he uses the ideology of society to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Negatives Of Paying College Athletes How would paying college athletes be economically beneficial to students, college athletes, and colleges? This topic has many controversial answers. In his article Sharing the Wealth with College Athletes, William C. Rhoden states, In fact, the revenue plan is aimed and designed to be a perk for seniors that complete the cycle: Those who play hard and earn their degrees (8). He further explains how colleges reward their collegeathletes. A contradicting point of view to Rhoden s is shared in Joe Posnanski s article College Athletes Should Not be Paid . According to this article he states, No, college athletics is not about the players. College athletics is FOR the players (Posnanski). In saying this he reveals he does not support the paying of college athletes. Although Rhoden s article doesn t specifically speak of the paying of athletes it refers to the substitution after they earn it per say. Paying college athletes. Many think it would not be economically beneficial. How would paying college athletes be economically beneficial? Paying college athletes would be economically beneficial because it would allow for more academic scholarships instead of more sports scholarships, help the college athletes by receiving the payment to pay for other necessities and enhancing their performance, and giving the colleges less trouble with athletes dropping out or having to resign. Correspondingly, paying college athletes would benefit the students of that college because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Tragedy Of Ferguson, Missouri Tragedy in Ferguson, Missouri Catherine Meeks CJSA1348 Research Paper November 25, 2014 On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many things that led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a $48.00 box of Swisher Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting the crime, a strong armed robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed robbery ... occurs when there is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in mind, we cannot assume that Michael Brown had a gun. We can also not say that he may have had a gun, but just decided to not show it to the convenience store clerk in order to intimidate him or her during the robbery. When Brown and Johnson left the store, they had a ten minute walk to get back to where they lived. When they were walking home, they were walking in the middle of the street when Officer Darren Wilson ordered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

WTG controllers then regulate each DFIG wind turbine to generate the desired amount of active power, where the deviations between the available wind energy input and desired active power output are compensated by the ESS. Simulation is done in Matlab for the grid connected wind farm, the wind farm consists of 15 DFIG wind turbines each with 4MW capacity at different and constant wind speeds. A constant active power Pref is taken at 38MW which can be specified by the grid operator and the wind farm has to supply this constant active power. Simulation results are studied for the active power supplied by wind farm with and without Energy Storage System (ESS). Here we can observe that with ESS the active power supplied by wind farm is almost constant. 2.Doubly Fed Induction Generator Systems For variable speed systems with limited variable speed range, e.g. В±30% of synchronous speed, the DFIG can be an interesting solution. As mentioned earlier the reason for this is that power electronic converter only has to handle a fraction (20 30%) of the total power. This means that the losses in the power electronic converter can be reduced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Clinton s Assault Rifle Ban Clinton s assault rifle ban in the nineties. Some may argue that this violates Second Amendment rights, since it eliminates some choice in magazines for firearms. However, no federal judge has ruled that the New York ban is unconstitutional, so a national version of the NY SAFE act should be constitutional as well. The Gun Show Loophole With the current gun control regulations in America, all federally licensed dealers must run background checks on their transactions. However, not all sellers have to be licensed, including those who sell at gun shows (Sherman, 2016). This creates what Democrats refer to as the Gun Show Loophole, where people who would be denied the purchase of a gun due to a federal background check are able to acquire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 99). This analysis assumes that all crime guns purchased at gun shows would have failed a proper background check, although this is not true in reality. With that assumption, closing the gun show loophole would prevent 1,394 assault by firearm related injuries, and save over $4 billion each year. It is unclear as to whether or not the statistic on crime guns coming from gun shows remains at two percent now, it being twenty years later. Though the $4 billion benefit for the $850 million cost sounds promising, these numbers have the highest margins of error out of the three options, simply because of the lack of data. A supermajority of Americans favor making private gun sales and sales at gun shows subject to background checks, with 80% of republicans and 83% of democrats supporting the idea (Pew Research Center, 2013). However, only 57% supported Senate measures to do so back in 2013, citing that the bills included restrictions beyond background checks, and opened a slippery slope towards more government power, (Pew Research Center, 2013). Any bill that aims to close the gun show loophole would have to do just that, and nothing more. Extending its reach any farther than that would not garner the same supermajority of support that we found with this relatively simple alternative. Therefore, this policy leaves gun owners with a high amount of liberty, since there will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This would not be good for long term growth due to the fact that it will sell its stock for a discount and if the other two options are executed the extra capital will not be necessary (See Exhibit 4). • 9. Example Of Knowledge Argument INTRODUCTION OF THE THESIS According to Currie (2015), philosophy is the activity of searching for a reflective understanding of ourselves and also to know about the natural and social worlds we live in. As we know, philosophy is also related to the phrase thinking about thinking. We can get to know what is actually happening in this world and we also will solve some of the confusions that we face in life. Knowledge is the fact and information of knowing something that through some experiences. In addition, argument is the process of arguing or disagreeing about a statement that has discussed. For example, we might argue about the statement that we have the opposite view from the others so we start to make up some proves to solve this matter. In this assignment, we will discuss about the knowledge argument. From a thesis that we have read, we could identify its position stated by Frank Jackson. Knowledge argument stands against physicalism which is proposed by Frank Jackson. Physicalism or materialism is distinguished with phenomenal consciousness of experiences that depicts mind is subjective and implies physicality. • 10. Song Of Roland Analysis In Song of Roland, the ideas of chivalry and loyalty to one s king are central. Throughout the text, the author uses the concepts of good versus evil, shown by the Christians versus Muslims, as well as loyalty versus treason, shown by Roland versus Ganelon, to highlight and exemplify the ideals of the code of knighthood. The main character, Roland, is often presented as being an exemplary knight ; he personifies the conventional chivalric values of the time such as bravery and loyalty, but he also struggles to balance these values in order to be a responsible leader. Roland is in stark contrast to his stepfather, Ganelon, as well as being in slight contrast to his close friend, Oliver. These contrasts of character come to a climax as the battle against the Muslim army at Roncesvalles begins; Oliver and Roland debate over whether they should call the king to help them, leading to the eventual demise of the French army. This specific scene brings to light the ideological dilemma of bravery versus wisdom and logic, by utilizing Roland as an example of the former, and Oliver of the latter. Roland, as evidenced by this situation, displays perfect loyalty to one s king and God by being incredibly brave in the face of danger, making sacrifices that he sees are necessary, and fought valiantly until his death, all the while keeping the utmost faith in his God and king. Throughout Song of Roland, Roland often puts himself in extreme amounts of danger, without fear of the consequences for himself or others; he was often brave even to the point of excess. In his bravery, he often overlooks the concerns and feelings of others, even those of his closest companions. For example, from the beginning of the battle with the Muslims it was quite obvious that the small rear guard led by Roland had no chance of victory; they were just too small. When Oliver suggests using the oliphant to call King Charlemagne s aid, Roland refuses, saying [m]ay it never please god that my kin should be shamed because of me, or that sweet France should fall into disgrace. In the movie we watched, it discussed an eight year old boy who was suspended for playing with a paper gun. I see no harm in this. Himself a samurai, and successful military leader and administrator, Hideyoshi also brought his power onto the social prestige of the high nobility, eventually legitimating himself through the title of kampaku, or imperial regent. It begins when Britain declares war on France. Imperial rivals, France and Britain struggled for supremacy. Early in the war, The French (helped by Canadian militia and Aboriginal allies) defeated a number of British attacks and captured several British forts. This war laid the bicultural foundations of modern Canada. The Seven Year War was caused by ongoing tension between Great Britain and France. The flow velocity increases as the flow gets closer to the barrier wall and reduces as it moves away from the wall. This is because as the flow rate is constant (Conservation of mass) while the area of the flow cross section decreases when it gets closer to the barrier wall, the flow velocity increases. This is best understood by referring to the continuity equation, Alternatively, it can also be explained by referring to the equation , where the k value is constant while the hydraulic gradient i defined by i = О”H/L increases because the head difference О”H is constant while the flow length L becomes shorter when it gets closer to the barrier wall. 5. The author of Cue for Treason, Geoffry Trease, demonstrates this trait in many of the characters. The most loyal bond in this book, which took place very early on in the novel, was Peter and Kit s. One of the most significant bonds has to be amongst the Secret Agents, the Queen, and all of England. Lastly, the most heroic form of loyalty is portrayed by Tom Boyd, Peter, and Kit. The agreement aims to lower overall emissions from a group of six greenhouse gases by 2008 12, calculated as an average over these five years. (UNFCCC, 2011) In December of 1997, 160 countries gathered in Kyoto, Japan to agree upon a Protocol that will curb emissions and hopefully restore emission levels to pre industrial numbers. Our oceans are compared to a sink for carbon dioxide, in that they hold much of the carbon dioxide that would otherwise be in the atmosphere (Wikipedia, 2011). As the temperature of the oceans rise, they absorb less and less carbon dioxide. Thus increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and increasing the global mean temperature, creating a snowball like effect, that would be nearly impossible to reverse. To prevent this catastrophe the Kyoto Protocol was established as a global legally binding agreement (Wikipedia, 2011). The objective of this agreement was to provide financing for developing countries. The financial aid would go towards new technologies to help these countries develop in a more sustainable manner. The Protocol also hoped to install mechanisms that report, verify, and review the carbon emissions of each country. It can cause them to be more social, have disorders, and even be the cause of social factors. On the other hand, nurture also has an effect on the behaviors of individuals. Both of them are scientifically proven to have an effect on an individual s personality and behaviors. There is evidence that suggest that neither one of them is completely responsible for behaviors, they both play major roles. From the perspective of a scientist, they may see biological factors to have a stronger influence, but from a sociologist perspective they may see social and environmental factors as being more influential. After extensive research, I believe environmental factors have a greater influence on the behaviors and personalities of individuals. The debate of whether nature or nurture are the main causes of behavior have been around for years. In my opinion, environmental factors have a larger influence on an individual s behavior, rather than genetic factors. The environment that a child is raised in is a key factor in how they are going to behave as they grow up. A household filled with rude and ignorant members is more likely to produce a child with the same qualities, than a household of welcoming and respectful people. During the organization of a social movement, framing was as a way to assign meaning (McAdam, 339) or look at events in ways that could inspire support from both group members and the common people while subjugating the opposing party. McAdam (339) states, Mediating between opportunity and action are people and the... meanings they attach to their situations. The events that occur during the rise of a social movement all present opportunities to help members achieve their goal but in order to even act upon these opportunities, the people involved must frame their situation in a way that will draw support to their cause. During the Civil Rights movement, the use of framing, on both sides, greatly influenced the outcome of social reform. McAdam states that there are six strategies social movement groups can employ to bring about change. In the case of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), even though blacks could now vote legal subterfuge and extralegal intimidation prevented them from taking part of political reform in the south (McAdam, 345). We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. • 52. Essay on anthropology Anthropology proves to be satisfying and intellectually fulfilling to many in the field. However, there are also many challenges and bumps in the road along the way. Napolean A. Chagnon and Claire Sterk faced many of these challenges themselves. During his fieldwork with the Yanomamo, Chagnon faced many challenges interacting with the natives. Chagnon could not practically communicate with the people until about six months after he arrived. He notes ? the hardest thing to live with was the incessant, passioned, and often aggressive demands they would make.? An example of this is the natives threatening with a shout such as; ?If you don?t take me with you on your next boat trip to Widokalyateri, I?ll chop a hole in your canoe!? While... Sterk was once followed home by one of the woman?s pimps and his friends, and was jumped. The woman admitted to Sterk over a year later that they wanted to teach her a lesson and she knew about it all along. Sterk describes ? At one time, I felt true hatred for a crack house owner and was unable to adhere to the rules of courteous interactions.? ( Sterk 10) In Gmelch?s work with ethnography, he took students to do fieldwork in Barbados. He says his students usually come out of the experience learning more about themselves than they did about the people they were supposed to be studying. The students learned more than they ever had about intimacy in relationships than they ever had in their culture. They compared it to the impersonality and detachment of their suburban lives. One of the biggest adjustments the students had to make was adjusting to the slow pace of village life. Many got used to being entertained just by socializing with the people and had no desire to leave if given a chance. Materialism diminished as the students began to feel embarrassed that they have so much. The people in the villages had so little and were seemingly so much happier than Americans. The students became minorities for their stay in the villages. One student says ? I have never been in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bennett (1996) described that customer service seeks to establish long term, committed, trusting and cooperative relationship with customers, characterized by openness, genuine concern for the delivery of high quality services, responsiveness to customer suggestions, fair dealings and willingness to sacrifice short term advantage for long term gains. Schneider and Bowen (1999) advocated that service business can retain customers and achieve profitability by building reciprocal relationships founded on safeguarding and affirming customer security, fairness and self esteem. It requires that companies view customers as people first and consumers second. Trust, commitment, ethical practices, fulfillment of promises, mutual exchange, emotional bonding, personalization and customer orientation have been reported to be the key elements in the relationship building process (Levitt,1986; Gronroos, 1994; Morgan,1994; Gummesson,1994; Bejou et al,1998 ). Customer service refers to all business activities directed towards initiating, establishing, maintaining, and developing successful long term relational exchanges (Heide, 1994; Reinartz Kumar, 2003). One of the results of Customer service is the promotion of customer loyalty (Evans Laskin, 1994), which is considered to be a relational phenomenon, (Chow Holden, 1997; Jacoby Kyner, 1973; Sheth Parvatiyar, 1995; cited by Macintosh Lockshin, ... • 54. Power Systems Of Electric Vehicles I. INTRODUCTION Since the industrial revolution started, the acceleration of technology development never stopped. However, with the development of new technologies, environment is suffering the consequences. The rate of Carbon dioxide is increasing rapidly. To mitigate this pollution, the concept of electric vehicle arose. The electric vehicles contribute in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions[1]. Thus, the use of electric vehicles is getting more popular as time goes by. As a result of that, electric vehicles must be integrated to the electric grid. They will be treated as electric loads, which means that all concepts of power system will be applied on them. Therefore, when electric vehicles are charged, they will cause voltage drop on the distribution feeders. Hence, the presence of voltage regulators might change the voltage response of the system. II. VOLTAGE REGULATION OVERVIEW. In power Systems Distribution, voltage regulation is an important concept. It deals with ways to maintain a good voltage profile delivered to the customers. The voltage level at the customer node has to be maintained within a specified range. There are many standards that determine customer s voltage range. Some standards assume a variation of +10% or 10%. However, it is determined by the utility based on their circumstances. III. VOLTAGE REGULATION METHODS The concept of voltage regulation associated with the electrical distribution system is caused by the radial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
