The Effects Of Gangster Rap And Appropriation Of The
West...
As N.W.A fell into the laps of the mainstream target audience: white, middle class,
suburban males and their angst filled teens, more problems began to arise
regarding the misconceptions of gangster rap and appropriation of the experience
of black men in low income cities. Most of the rap that this demographic would
hear on the radio was the lighter Pop Rap of MC Hammer and The Fresh Prince
and Jazzy Jeff. According to GZA, the founder of the Wu Tang Clan, the label
(Gangster Rap) was created by the media to limit what we can say. We just deliver
the truth in a brutal fashion...They don t like that, so you hear ban this, ban that .
We attack people s emotions. It s a real live show that brings out the inside in
people . But many people outside the scene just associated it with the violent rivalry
between the East Coast s Bad Boy Records and the West Coast s Death Row records
that ultimately resulted in the mysterious murders of The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac.
However, when Efil4zaggin hit number #1 on Billboard charts, the genre became
more widely acknowledged and accepted by mainstream audiences. Although, in a
general sense, Fuck Tha Policewas relatable to the Every Man in it s dissatisfaction
with unfairness it cannot be separated completely from it s specific context. Although
facing discrimination and brutality at the hands of cops was a common experience
for minorities, suburban America still refused to believe that this bias was happening.

The first slide was placed under the microscope under the magnification of 40x, and
a thick red layer appeared with a white streak on the side. There was little air bubble
spread on the layer, which looked like a piece of meat with lean on it.
The slide was then placed under the magnification of 100x, and the layer looked like
little air bubbles or tiny little circles in the color white. The circle was had a thick

Antidepressants Should Be Treated Using Talk Therapy
I feel trapped , I feel empty , I feel hopeless and numb , are all ways that people
have described their depression. Usually this would be followed with going to the
doctor and expressing how the person feels and then the doctor prescribing an
antidepressant. The question that stands is does everyone on antidepressants actually
need to be on antidepressants? Antidepressants should be reserved for the cases and
people who really need them rather than someone who has situational depression,
premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or even seasonal affective disorder, all types of
depression that can be treated using talk therapy rather than medication (Illiades, 7
Side Effects of Antidepressants).
Depression is a chemical imbalance of the brain, usually when the part of the brain
that produces serotonin produces the chemical in lower quantities (Rivas). Every
year Americans consume more anti depressants than any other nation in the world
and from the years 1988 1994, the use of anti depressants increased by 400%
(Ross). Statistically speaking, women have a 70% chance of developing depression
over men and about 13% of the women who have children would develop
postpartum depression (Holms). There is no doubt that depression impacts a large
amount of people and affects the wallets of those with depression. Globally,
350,000,000 people suffer from some form of depression, of those affected with
depression; $80,000,000,000 is spent on antidepressants and therapy (Holms). There

Low germination rates reduce crop density, which results in indirect yield loss. Late
emergence can result in poor plant performance and a direct yield loss [4], because
roots are inadequately established and have less access to water and nutrients during
later stages of vegetative and reproductive growth. Our knowledge of the regulation
of seed germination has developed greatly in recent times, yet understanding of the
genetic and mechanical basis for seed vigour differences is limited. By enhancing the
seedling vigour trait, the agricultural industry might attain a remarkable
advancement and increment in plant development. Seed vigour contributes directly
to the economic success of commercial crops (Finch Savage, 1995) and seed
companies therefore need to have the means to obtain a reliable estimate of seed
vigour in order to be able to supply growers with seed lots of high vigour. This will
increase the margin of profit by reducing cost of production and increasing
productivity. Thus, seed vigour, if enhanced, will result in substantial savings.
Keeping in view the above information, this paper will be beneficial in determining
the genetic and mechanical basis of seed vigour.

Toyota Prius Stereotypes
The Myth Behind the Toyota Prius After its creation fifteen years ago, the Toyota
Prius has attained a cult status in American culture, and has grown to become a
symbol in addition to being a hybrid car. Once high profile celebrities like
Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz were seen in the Prius in the early 2000s, it
became cool, smart, and trendy to own a Prius. Over the last ten years, there has
become two stereotypical owners of a Prius: economically conscious, mediocre
driving, organic food eating, hippie; or an older person trying to save money on gas
that isn t trying look flashy as they drive around. Evidence that lead to these
stereotypes is found all over popular culture in movies, TV shows and social media.
Although the assumptions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two movies are notorious for their portrayal of the Prius: Horrible Bosses (2011)
and The Other Guys (2010). In Horrible Bosses one of the main characters was
caught speeding and was being questioned, Detective Samson: Do you want to
explain why you were doing 61 in a 25 zone? Nick Hendricks: I was drag racing. I
m a drag racer. Detective Samson: You were drag racing...In a Prius. Nick
Hendricks: I don t win a lot. The sarcastic response about drag racing in a Prius
fuels the stereotype that the Prius is laughable car to be caught driving. The same
type of humor is used in The Other Guys as the car is abused and treated as pathetic
and is a running joke throughout the film. All these pop culture negative depictions of
the Prius have engrained and created the sign of the car in American

The Yunnan And Szechuan Province Of Southwest China
The Yunnan and Szechuan provinces of southwest china have been home to the
people of the Mosuo culture for nearly 2000 years. With a population of
approximately 56, 000, the Mosuo tribe is dwarfed when compared to china s
population of 3.1 billion. The majority of the families live around Lugu Lake, a
region that was isolated from the world until the 1970s.The Mosuotribe is often
described as one of the last living matriarchal societies today. Given that Mosuo
women make most of the major decisions, control the household finances, and pass
on the familyname to their children, many anthropologists classify the Mosuo culture
as a matriarchal society. but those who have studied these ancient societies are often
at odds as to what to label them. Many prefer to call societies, like the Mosuo,
matrilineal societies. [Source: frontline pbs.org]. In a matriarchy, a female is head of
the family or society. With a matrilineal society, descent is traced through the mothers
rather than fathers. Property is inherited through the female line.
The Mosuo culture is one that is multifaceted and exhibits the features of both a
matriarchal and matrilineal society. They have developed their own unique family
structure, where there is no traditional father role and inheritance is passed from
mother to the oldest daughter. Mosuo women carry the family name and run the
household. Each household is multi generational, consisting of several families and
the oldest woman is assigned the

Pros And Cons Of Enrollment In Oxbridge
according to the passage we know that, many issues about enrollment in Oxbridge
and oxford university that emerged, this problem begins with the idea that someone
elitist such as oxford would never be the place for someone like you. This idea is fed
to students from public schools, and ultimately initiates the pros and cons. It causes
students from private schools to feel that they are entitled to a place in the university.
The lammy highlighted issues can be traced to the educationsystem and governmental
mistakes. That those from low income backrounds are not being given the chance to
reach top university by using pure selection based on achievement. So students who

Ella Enchanged and Cinderella
Contemporary young adult writers or filmmakers retells a classic story and develop
ideas about how and why current views of adolescents and what it takes to grow up
might have changed over time. Classic young adult literature questions certain topics
like social, political, and the moral convections and the way it impacts the way teens
think about themselves. For example, two contemporary young adult stories that
have similarities and differences are Ella Enchantedand Cinderella that can impact a
teen s way of thinking mainly young girls but can influence boys as well. For
instance, Cinderella is a classic form of literature that develops ideas about
adolescents. In Cinderella, she was the only daughter of a wealthy man who had
lost his wife. He remarries this women who was extremely cruel and self interested;
along with her two daughters. They all disliked Cinderella who was a very
kindhearted and beautiful and resembled her mother. Her stepmother and stepsisters
ridiculed her and treated her like an outcast of the family, as if she was taking up
space. Cinderella devoted a lot of her time cleaning and doing all the chores around
the house. She was very obedient and her animal friends would often question on
why she wouldn t just stand up against her evil stepmother and stepsisters for
herself and take what is rightfully hers. However, Cinderella was a prisoner in her
own life who was forbidden from any form of outside activities. Ella Enchanted is a

Literary Structure Of Frankenstein
Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, is one of the most controversial and well structured
stories of the last few generations. It involves Dr. Frankenstein, stricken with grief
because of his dead mother, trying to bring the dead back to life. He succeeds in his
twisted task, but instead of embracing his creation he blocks him out and essentially
outcasts his creation. This causes the creature to question himself and the morals of
the human race. After being shunned again, this time by a poor family he finally
decides to enact his revenge on Frankensteinfor giving him a life that he didn t want
wasted on his abomination like body. He then starts killing all of Frankenstein s
closest friends and family members, eventually even Frankenstein s new bride. The
bride however is the breaking point for Frankenstein. After her death Frankenstein
vows to hunt down his disfigured creation and put an end to his miserable life. This

Everything that happens in the novel happens for a reason. Every chain of events
progresses like a real situation, all the characters act logically. Even in their
moments of high stress they still make decent decisions. The only part of the novel
that is somewhat questionable is when Frankenstein basically lets his wife die. I
suppose Frankenstein could have just misunderstood his creations warning. Other
than that, all of the plot points make total sense. The entire arc of the monster
learning how terrible humans are and his reasoning for revenge is just so
beautifully crafted by author Mary Shelley. In reality what makes the plot so
logically correct is simple cause and effect. Take the monster for example, it really
only does things because people do things to him. He learns from them, like a
newborn. If people treated him differently, he would have reacted
Compare And Contrast The Stories Of Eva Luna
Between the two short stories, The Stories of Eva Luna by Isabel Allende and Wine

elements in these two short stories are highly present in the case that The Stories of
Eva Luna showed the element of indomitable spirit where as the short storyof Wine of

Luna in The Stories of Eva Luna is the poor girl and the narrator. The main

Essay On Non Traditional Students
The dynamic of University environment has changed over the course of the last
decade, with nontraditional students encompassing between 50 and 75% of the
undergraduate population. These nontraditional students possess the responsibility
and self regulation that is not commonly found in the traditional Universitystudent, as
displayed in a research study performed by H. B. Slotnick, M. H. Pelton, and L.
Tabor. Their motivationfor educationrelies in their personal interests and satisfactions,
job improvements, employment requirements, and their own perception of personal
value. This differs from the research performed by M. Knowles, which shows that
conventional students depend on external motivation, and lack the self regulation
found in nontraditional students. The focus was then shifted to the adult learning
style, and how greatly it differs between younger generations. A study held in Auburn
University in Montgomery used two main investigative questions as the basis of their
research:
What motivational factors, distinguish between students who attend a traditional or
non traditional campus?
What differences, if any, are there in learning strategies of the students who attend a
traditional or non trational campus?
The study sampled individuals from two separate campuses filling the demographic
of traditional students (ages 18 22), and non traditional students (ages 23 and older).
The first sample was derived from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) student
population.
The Nature Of The Poetry Of Percy Shelley s Mutability
Shelley Percy is one of the most highly regarded Romantic poets of the 19th century.
Many of Shelley s poem tell about the nature of the human condition. In many of his
poems Shelley use elements of nature (seashells, the wind, the ocean, etc.) to discuss
truths about the human condition. Percy Shelley examines the one consistent
characteristic of being human in his poem Mutability . In his poem Mutability
Shelley shows the fragility and unpredictability of the human condition.
The poem opens with the speaker comparing humans to clouds that veil the
midnight moon (Line 1). The clouds move radiantly across the sky and cover the
light of the moon. The words speed , gleam , quiver and streaking personify the
cloud image. Shelley describes the cloud s actions as a metaphor for human
actions, How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver, / streaking the darkness
radiantly! (Lines 2 3). He believes that humans go through life with speed, not
taking time to rest; like clouds at night, we do not last forever. Shelley s use of the
word of veil instead of covers creates a sense of purposefully hidden light. In lines
three to four of the poem the wondrous sight is eventually extinguished by the
darkness, yet soon/ Night closes round, and they are lost forever. By using this image
of the night Shelley shows the cycle of change and demonstrates human morality.
The speaker is pointing out that humans have short lives on Earth and regardless of
how radiantly we may shine, we are like clouds at night that are overshadowed.
In the second stanza Shelley describes the frailty of human existence. In lines five
through nine humans are describes as forgotten lyres, whose dissonant strings/ Give
various response to each varying blast,/ To whose frail frame no second motion
brings/ One mood or modulation like the last. Shelley uses this as a metaphor that
expands on the concept of human morality. In this stanza humans are compared to
forgotten lyres saying that we will be forgotten when we are dead and gone. The
different moods of the stanza are created by the different sounds of the lyre. Humans
are being compared to instruments with beautifully melodies have been forgotten.
Shelley is saying that once
Canada And Climate Change Essay
Germanwatch research Indicates that Canada is the eight largest carbon dioxide
producer in the world. According to their recent data, Canada was one of the biggest
emitters of carbon dioxide, which is around 1.67 percent of global Co2 emissions in
2015
(Burck, J., Marten, F., Bals, C., 2015, December).
In 1997, The Kyoto Protocol was adopted to address climate change and reduce
greenhouse gas emissions (EPA, n.d.). In spite of the international treaty, half of
participating nations, including Canada failed to reducing its Co2 emissions (Clark,
D., 2012, November 26).
Whether climate change occurred by human activities or naturally accruing
phenomenon is a debatable issue. However, it may safely be said releasing carbon
dioxide is one of the main reasons for climate change. Human activities such as the
burning of fossil fuels from using transportation and maintaining agriculture are major
contributions of greenhouse gases emissions, which lead to climate change. They can
be solved by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. ... Show more content on

New England Colonies Dbq Essay
The New England colonies developed rapidly, largely due to the influence of the
Puritans. The Puritans came to the new world seeking religious freedom and helped
found most of the colonies in the New England region. The Puritans wanted a United
government that will later become the basis for the Unites States, they believed that
the overall well being of the people was more important than the well being of the
few, and the Puritans believed that religion, church, and community were important
aspects of the people s lives. The Puritans religion allowed them to prosper in the
political, economical, and social development of the New England Colonies in the
1630 1660 s.
The Puritans impacted the New England region. They believed that the people
should elect a reverend and the government s power should lay in the hands of the
people. The idea of a democracy was a huge step forward in improving the colonists
lives and allowing the people to feel as though they had more control. As John
Winthrop states we [the people] must be knit together, in this work as one man.
(Document 1), the Puritans wanted to unite the people in the New England colonies
to become one. The Puritans also incorporated their religion into their government,
something that is not seen today. The Puritans valued religion over nearly everything
and wanted to show its importance to the rest of the world. They voted on a
reverend to be their leader and allowed the Lord to set boundaries in which the

With the raise in interest this generation shows in smartphones, Apple yet again
provides another consideration for its customers. As the concern that kids are
spending too much time on their phones increases, Apples has produced Iphones
with batteries that fights this dilemma. Because Apple cares about the amount of
time we spend on our phones, the battery they have included drains easily. This
feature is so good at doing its job that you can actually spend very little time on
your phone each day before it dies! This makes it mandatory for the customers to
prioritize the time they spend on their phones! Instead of being able to rely on
your phone being there whenever you need it, you have to prioritize and watch
how much you use it a day. However, if you do need your phone and the battery is
low, Apple has conveniently made the charger travel size. This means all you ll
have to do is sit by an outlet if you need to use your phone for more than a small
amount of time a day. Apple ensures that their customers can t be tempted to use their

Women s Change In The Movie Hidden Figures
My mother and I went to go see Hidden Figures on 2/23/2017 and it was a great
movie to go and see in theaters. The message in Hidden Figures is that black
woman can do anything that a white person can do when working of NASA. All
three of the black women at the beginning of the movie all work for NASA in the
west computing group. These three women are math geniuses on solving math
equations. Their names are Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Goble.
The premise of the movie Hidden Figures is segregation and how Dorothy Vaughn,
Mary Jackson, and Katherine Goble change that at NASA. All three of these
women change throughout the whole entire movie of Hidden Figures. These three
women change the way segregation worked back in the 1960 s. Also, those three
women worked hard at their jobs and changed segregation in their workplace. There

The No Child Left Behind Act Of 2001
Assessment has drawn much attention, especially since the implementation of the
No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) reauthorization of the Elementary and
Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESES). It is not that assessment is new to
education but that the stakes of assessment has risen to a new level. It is apparent
that testing is now viewed in a much different way by the public, schools and all
stakeholders of schools than in the past. Over time, testing has developed roles of
providing a grade to mark student progress, diagnose students strengths and
weaknesses so that instruction can be planned for student improvement and indicate
teacher effectiveness (Popham, 2014). In recent years, it has become common
practice for the general public to use testing to form judgement of the effectiveness
of schools. Tests are now included in teacher performance evaluations, and used to
improve the teaching process. Grades and grading systems in the United States were
developed to provide a standard method to evaluate the performance of students. In
some cases instead of grades students were seated in order such that it indicated their
rank in class (Schneider Hutt, 2014). The function of testing and grading is a much
more private measure. With grades being published for anyone to review, many
people and groups have made judgements of the testinferences whether these people
have experience and knowledge of evaluating assessments. The determination of
students weaknesses and

the US criminal justice system. However, finding a great balance between justice
and punishment is often a blurred line. Over the past 40 years, the population of
state and federal prisons have risen drastically. Polices such as the war on drugs and
get tough on crimehave caused judges to give out more incarceration years than ever
before. With such are large prisonpopulation, the resources needed to operate is much
greater than ever before. Many in the criminal justicesystem began to question if
excess sentencing is responsible for the failed prison system. This essay will explore
the theories of proportional sentencing and how they could be implement. This essay
will look at the current polices of sentencing and the how theories associated with
proportional sentencing could be used to repair a broken punishment system. The
need for punishment has always been necessary in our world. In the modern justice
system, offenders are judged and punishment by the government and not those whom
the offended. While this approach has taken punishment out of the hand of those
whom have been offended, it is still at its center a type retribution. The theory of
retribution states at its core that criminals deserve to suffer and prisons should make
sure that they suffer for their crimes. The approach does have some good points.
First, this approach focuses on the punishment being equal in
Hypatia Of Alexandria
The First Female Mathematician Mathematics has always been described as the
purest science and considered as one of the most important aspects in many countries
around the world, especially developed countries. Theoretically, the most significant
requirements for a life of a mathematician is the mathematical ability. Nevertheless,
very few women get involve in this field, which creates a myth, and slowly
develops into a stereotype in society, that women are naturally not good at math.
However, many people would be surprised, that the world s greatest living

Hypatia of Alexandria, unfortunately, met a tragic end. Before going into the story of
her death, it is important to go back and examine the reasons behind it. According to
Costa Giovanni in her journal Hypatia, the Daughter of Theon, when Christian took
root in Alexandria, Egypt, in A.D. 390, frequent battles and riots broke out between
those of opposing religions. Hypatia was a Neoplantonist, which encourage logical
reasoning rather than taking anything on blind faith. As a result, with her exceptional
level of knowledge and dignity, Hypatia became a center of all attention. In reality,
many believed that Hypatia was such a great influence that Christianity would not

Deliberation And Introspection From High School
As I near the end of my high school experience, I m faced with the onerous task of
selecting my future occupation. After years of deliberation and introspection, I ve
come to the conclusion that it would be in my best interest to continue on the path I
ve known thus far; therefore, I plan to advance my studies in law following my
departure from high school. I feel as though this is what I m called to do. For as long

Musical Development From The 50 S
Musical development from the 50 s to the present day
1950 s
The 1950 s was a very important decade in the development of music as it saw the
birth of rock n roll. Artists such as Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry took the style of
playing already established in genres such as blues and country music and
completely renovated it. They took the idea of a 12 bar blues pattern and sped it up
and added rhythmic, catchy hooks to make the music easy to dance to. The lyrics of
songs about the genre itself as well as teenage love and sex, although the latter was
only referred to through slang terminology, appealed greatly to teenagers of the time
due to their rebellious nature.

Songs such as hound dog and jailhouse rock made him one of the most renowned
performers of all time and still influence music greatly even today.
While Presley was no doubt the most successful and best known artist of the
decade, there are several other performers who were key figures in establishing rock
n roll as the music of the era. Artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Bill
Haley and the comets played an integral role in creating rock n roll and making it a
success with songs such as Johnny B Goode and rock around the clock .
1960 s
Without a doubt the most influential event in the development of music in the 1960 s
was what became known as the British invasion. With the televised beatings of
peaceful civil rights protestors the American youth became disenchanted with their
government and the music that was produced up until 1963 began to reflect that.
After 1963 however acts that had been hugely successful in Britain began to make
appearances in America, most notably the Beatles. The band, later known as the fab
four, became an overnight success in the states and very few American artists
maintained any semblance of popularity as a result of the ensuing beatlemania as it
Essay On Egyptian Afterlife
In the Egyptian religion, there is belief in an afterlife. The Egyptians believe that
another life continued after one has died. Because their beliefs were true, the time
of Ancient Egyptians developed rituals regarding the death and burial of a person.
These tasks would prepare the deceased soul to reach the good place and ensure a
good afterlife. The afterlife to the Egyptian was a place of bliss, delight, and peace.
Deathoccupied the Egyptians they believed that after death they would pass through
the dark and terrifying place called the underworld. Before a person s soul can rest
he or she would prepare as a mortal, be mummified, and take the journey of tests
before passing through the underworld into the afterlife.
The Egyptian believed that before the mortal one is ready to take the journey, he
or she would designate a person to manage their death. This designated person
would take on the responsibilities of preparing the body and tomb for burial. The
person getting ready to take the journey would read from The Book of The Dead
and there he or she would retrieve their secret name. Not allowed to be talked about
was the secret name, until a certain time in the journey and would enable the dead to
overcome obstacles and follow the right path of the underworld. It also granted
protection and help of the gods. After the secret name is given, then he or she would

Octopuses Research Paper
Octopuses are better at camouflage than any other animals. They can change their
shape and color to look like other creatures.
The best of these morphing creatures is the mimic octopus. It adopts the colors of a
poisonous sea snake and changes its body into a thin ribbon to scare predators away.
People have seen mimic octopuses look like lion fish, sea stars and other animals.
When hungry, the octopus takes the form of a crab. Crabs fooled by the display end

Scientists and engineers are impressed by the octopuses. A team of Cornell

scientists got help from octopus expert Roger Hanlon.

The papillae are what help an octopus use camouflage. The papillae go limp when
an octopus wants to decrease the drag of water against skin, allowing it to speed
away. Then fleshy nubs can appear, and the skin bulges. Octopuses can match the
look of seaweed so closely that they become almost invisible.
Itai Cohen, a writer of the new study, said he was amazed by videos of the shape

People can stare at an underwater scene and have no idea an octopus is there, Cohen

Applying the Concept of Bipower to China s One Child
Policy
Michel Foucault was a French philosopher and one of the most influential social
theorists of the second half of the twentieth century. He was born on the 15th of
October 1936 and passed away on the 25th June 1984. His theories addressed the
relationship between power and knowledge, and how they are used as a form of
social control. His analysis breaks the concept of power apart, and his theory explains
differences in various modes of power. In his study the History of Sexuality, he
explores in the firth volume called Right of Death and Power over Life the triangle
of power: (I) sovereign power; (II) disciplinary power; and (III) biopower. In this
essay I will describe the relationship between each power and apply the concept of
biopower to China s one child Policy.
First what is Biopower? Well according to Foucault, biopower is a technology of
power, which is a way of managing and controlling entire populations. Biopower
led to the emergence of the modern nation state and capitalism. Foucault describes
it as an explosion of numerous and diverse techniques for achieving the
subjugations of bodies and the control of populations (Foucault 140). The primary
and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is to secure and
improve people s lives. Power is exercised exclusively over life, and is exercised
either to foster life or to disallow it. Biopower according to Foucault is a power that
exerts a positive influence on life, that endeavours to

Why I Didn t Free And No Longer A Slave
When Mary came to England she was legally free and no longer a slave. Having no
friends and no means of procuring a living, she was forced to remain with her
master, still working as a slave, though he repeatedly tried to kick her out on the
street. Until she found a branch of the Moravian church which educated and married
her in Antigua where she found kind people who took her in and cared for her when
she was bed bound from rheumatism. They then introduced her to the Anti Slavery
Society who not only championed her cause for freedom from her master so she
could return to her husband in Antigua, but also sometimes supported her financially
when she couldn t find work.
I would rather work for my living than get it for nothing. They were very good to
give me a supply, but I felt shame at being obliged to apply for relief whilst I had
strength to work.
At last I went into the service of Mr. and Mrs. Pringle, where I have been ever
since, and am as comfortable as I can be while separated from my dear husband, and
away from my own country and all old friends and connections.
At this time Mary was approximately 40 years old and despite the Pringle s support,
Mary s master wouldn t grant her freedom even with many offerings of money.
As she had no one to refer to for a character in this country except himself, he
doubtless calculated securely on her being speedily driven back, as soon as the
slender fund she had in her possession was expended, to throw herself

Good communication skills form a critical element of early childhood education.
Communication consists of two main styles: Verbal and non verbal. These styles of
communication form the foundation of effective teaching and learning within the

elements of communication. An early childhood educator will understand what

Children rely heavily on the input of their surrounding environments to develop these
skills further (Eileen Allen Marotz, 2003). The communication strategy used by
children over the first year of life is predominately non verbal before development
progresses to include verbal communication (Rodnick Wood, 1973). McDevitt and
Ormrod (2010) suggest social emotional, physical and cognitive development is
facilitated by the experiences children have in their family, school and community (p.
5). This raises the idea that the level of communicative development may differ
greatly between children depending on experiential exposure. Rodnick and Wood
(1973) expand on this further suggesting children will actually develop a level of
grammatical and language understanding which is essential to communication, long
before they commence schooling. In research conducted by Rodnick and Wood
(1973) it was noted in their findings that the children subject to their research
demonstrated a lower level of communication than expected at around the age of
seven and suggest it may be due to environmental factors. This then draws some
attention to the educator and their ability to teach a developing child not only the
importance of communication, but also the skills of appropriate and effective
communication.
An early childhood educator who uses good communication practices will be able to
identify non verbal signals from children and utilise their full

s greatest enemy with his theories of the creation of species and has caused people
to turn their backs on faith and look to science to be their religion. The way in which
Darwin describes the creation of species in The Origin of Species does not agree with
how species are created in Christian teachings. Charles Darwin s theories have
impacted so many different aspects of life from what we teach our children in school
to our chosen faith.
Charles Darwin explains his theories on how different species are created in The
Origin of Species. Darwin tells us that different species are created for a few
different reasons. Darwin tells us that specie s struggle for existence plays a major
part in the creation of species. The struggle for existence is if a variation is helpful
then it will probably reappear in future generations, but if it is unhelpful the species
will have a harder time surviving and then reproducing. When offspring that have
these helpful variations continuously reproduce this is known as Natural selection,
nature is selecting the useful variations and getting rid of the non helpful ones.
The struggle for existence is the accumulation of variations until a new species is
created, but how do variations occur? Darwin explains that scientist thought that there
are variations in species because of environmental reasons like climate,

people suffer from it. People who have favism and eat fava beans experience
anemia that can often lead to death. Favism directly affects the circulatory system
because many red blood cells are destroyed.Favism is the result of a lack of glucose 6

blood. Free radicals are molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron. These unpaired
electrons seek a pair with another electron from different molecules and can cause a

an infectious disease that kills more than the 1 million infected. Once infected,
terrible fevers and chills, vomiting, and anemia will follow. It is especially

The Controversy Of Homosexuality Sparks Controversy
Introduction:
In every corner of the world, the topic of homosexuality sparks controversy from
both supporters and opponents of the sexual orientation. Merriam Webster s
dictionary defines a homosexual as being sexually attracted to people of the same
sex. The underlying influence from historical, sociological, and health disciplines are
just a few reasons such a large gap exists on the spectrum between supporters and
opponents of homosexuality. This paper serves as an analysis of the previously
mentioned disciplines with gathered data from a variety of scholarly journals. Based
on the grounds of historical, sociological, and health disciplines, it would be far too
ethnocentric, discriminatory, and physically unhealthy for society to reject
homosexuality as an individual s choice in a way of life.
Historical Perspective: When viewing the United States acceptance of
homosexuality there have been spikes and plateaus in its progression. Today, a
majority of the states in the nation allow same sex marriage; however, in some of
these states, homosexual couples are not able to receive the same Social Security
benefits as heterosexual couples (Mushovic, 2011). This clearly demonstrates that
although the nation has made great strides in treating homosexuals as equals, there
is still some sanding around the edges that needs to be performed. When viewed in
this aspect, it is seen that progress for homosexuals to be treated as equals is being
made slowly, but surely.

A Trend Oriented Power System Security
A TREND ORIENTED POWER SYSTEM SECURITY ANALYSIS METHOD
BASED ON LOAD PROFILE Power system security is an important aspect in the
present generation. Power system security must also be economical. We can t
predict the fault at every time, so based on trend analysis method on load profile in
this paper we are going to see the various methods which help for the protection of
the power system. So we should carefully monitor the security. By these methods
discussed in the paper we are to form security indices which helps us to calculate
the faults in advance. With these methods when problem occurs in real time we
will have the security indices to respond faster to find out the solution for the
problem and also we can protect in advance. Introduction: Power system analysis is
important part of power systems. According to the mathematical model we can
divide security analysis into two types 1.Static analysis 2.Dynamic analysis
Dynamic security analysis is more focused on the behavior subsequent to a
contingency, power system oscillatory modes, frequency instability. In this paper
we are going to study about static analysis. Now moving on to the trend analysis
theory it is developed from stock and commodity markets. This analysis is majorly
successful in medical and mechanical fields, now it is widely used in electrical
systems. Trend analysis theory has its own applications in electrical field such as
signal processing, load forecasting, fault
Effective Delegation
Introduction This paper will attempt to show what skills are necessary for effective
delegation, and how the managers of the author s organization uses delegation in his
or her management responsibilities. The paper will also attempt to show how
delegation could be used more effectively within the four functions of managementin
that same organization. Through delegation managers combine task responsibilities
and the authority needed to carry out tasks in the organization. The author will also
discuss some advantages of delegation as well as the issue of poor delegation.
Delegation
What is delegation? According to Bateman, delegation is the assignment of authority
and responsibility to a subordinate at a lower level. (Bateman ... Show more content

The fifth step is to to schedule checkpoints for reviewing progress. This is done to
make sure everything is on track. To make sure that no one is slacking off. The
final step is for the manager to follow through by discussing progress at appropriate
intervals. Delegation is considered a key aspect of leadership. To quote Woodrow
Wilson I not only use all the brains I have, but all I can borrow. (Blair, 1996) This
quote effectively describes delegation.
Advantages of Delegation There are also some advantages to delegation. These
positive aspects of delegation include: higher efficiency, increased motivation,
develops the skills of your team, and better distribution of work through the group.
(Blair, 1996). If there is an increased motivation among the group or team there is an
increase in productivity. With the work being more evenly distributed throughout the
group, the team is more efficient.
Poor Delegation Now the author will discuss signs of poor delegation. The first sign
is team motivation or morale is down. If a member of the group has no motivation to
work either
Effective Delegation 5 with the manager or the rest of the team it is usually a good
sign that morale is low. The second sign is the manager is always working late. In
these instances the manager feels that only he or she can get the job done properly.

How Does Willy Loman Use Escapism In Death Of A
Salesman
Escapism is used by many to distance themselves from a difficult problem or
challenge experienced in daily life. The magnitude that this has is, for the most
part, negative. In Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, each character has their
own form of escapism that he or she uses in avoidance of a personal difficulty.
There are four primary characters which use escapism as a principal means by
which to elude their troubles, Willy, Biff, Happy and Linda. Willy Loman exploits
escapism in a crucial way throughout the play. Willy typically recollects on past
events or key points in his past to distract himself from current events. This is first
seen in the opening scene of the play, So I went on again and five minutes later I m
dreamin again, (14). From this the reader can comprehend Willy s difficulty with
focusing on something. There are many other point throughout the play in which
Willy experiences an event that relates with his nonfulfillment that sends him
recollecting into the past, such as when Biff steals the pen and Willy starts
remembering the time he flunked math, No, no! You had to go and flunk math! What
math? What re you talking about? (109). Having done this throughout the play it has
caused great problems for Willy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Willy has dreams of success and becoming a victorious business man like that of
his brother Ben. As seen by Ben telling Willy The jungle is dark and full of
diamonds, Willy. (134). the reader can see the subconscious desire that Willy has, to
pertain like that of his fellow kin. This lust to become just as accomplished as Ben
ultimately results in Willy s untimely death. Willy s last attempt to become
successful like that of Ben by trying to get his life insurance causes his death and
eventual failure as a business

Fantasy Sports And Its Effect On The National Football
League
Abstract
The widespread growth of fantasy sports into a multi billion dollar industry has made
it an important component of the sports industry, mainly the NFL. All Sports leagues
must acknowledge the impact that fantasy sport has on the way its participants
consume their sport. This research paper examines the conception of fantasy sports
and explains it effects on the National Football league. Consumer involvement with
fantasy sports leads to a higher consumption of the NFL products and services.
Keywords: Fantasy sports; Consumption; Fan loyalty; NFL; Football; Sports media
NFL: Sports Fantasy Becomes Reality Introduction
This research paper will provide a discussion on the initial conception, importance,
and an explanation on the development of fantasy sport and its adoption by the
National Football league (NFL). The paper will also focus on the concept of
fantasy football considered the most popular fantasy sport, due to the high
participation rating, and its effects on the NFL and the various sport consumers. A
brief examination of the increase in consumer loyalty and brand identification as a
result of fantasy football participation as well as the effect of overall consumption of
the NFL will be provided in the following research.
Discussion
The unique presupposition of fantasy sports allows individual participants to act as
owners or general managers of their own sports teams. These members participate in
either an online or real world draft scenario. Each
Erik Larson s The Devil
Erik Larson s The Devil in the White City is a historical novel that portrays true
events that occurred during the final years of the Gilded Age. Larson employs his
vast research in order to write a historically accurate book, while filling in the
subjective details all in order to make for an interesting read for the audience.
Although the novel is based on historical facts, the actual goal for Larson is to
portray a sharp contrast between good and evil, and he does this by presenting two
main characters around which the plots of this novel is built. The entire novel shifts
back and forth between Daniel Burnham, the protagonist, and H. H. Holmes, the
antagonist. The book is outlined so that alternating chapters follows distinct plot...

They are both dedicated to building a fair that will better the tarnished reputation
the Chicago gives off to the rest of the country. They seek the help of architects
throughout the country, but the ones in New York in particular are full of pride
and do not want to be associated with Chicago. John Root eventually falls ill and
dies, him being the architectural genius of the project. Burnham reads a
newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so
pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as
a cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially
produces good for the city. While pride may seem to produce good for the city, it
actually causes the people to ignore the bad. This is evident with the story of H. H.
Holmes. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a
murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares enough to investigate it
because Chicago is simply known as the city where one would marvel at how easy
it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This disappearance refers to murderers and
psychopaths like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to the countless victims
that were murdered by him and never found. Another example of preventable evil
being ignored is that of Prendergast, who becomes progressively insane but the few
people that notice it do nothing about it and
Essay Review of Shrek
Review of Shrek In traditional fairy tales, ogres are man eating beasts; they are
regarded as being one of the most evil and hideous creatures in fairytales. The
prince is derived as a charming and handsome young man who is on a quest to rescue
a beautiful Princess who has been held captive for many years in a tall tower,
guarded by a fire breathing dragon, awaiting the arrival of a brave Prince.
The makers of Shrek have decided to reverse the tradition of a stereotypical fairy tale,
by creating a completely different story line while trying to incorporate some tradition
into the story.

The audience can now tell that this is not a conventional fairy tale.
In the third scene of the story, rewards are being given for the capture of fairy tale
creatures by Lord Farquaad s demand, as his orders are being carried out it gives the
impression that he is a very imposing ruler.
Many of the traditional fairytale creatures are visible in this such as the three bears,
Pinochio. Many of these fairy tale creatures use lines from there stories for example
baby bear (from the three bears) says my cage is far too small and starts crying.
A talking donkey is taken for trade by his owner. As the donkey refuses to talk the
lady who owns him is not given anything however when they drag her away she
kicks Tinkerbell (the fairy from Peter Pan) magic fairy dust goes on to the talking
donkey and he says I can fly. The gurads who have been ordered to capture the
fairytale creatureson behalf of Lord Farquaad, persue him in order to try and capture
him. As Donkey continues to run through the forest he bumps into Shrek. The gurads
catch up and the Commander reads a telegram written by Lords Farquaad demanding
that both Donkey and Shrek give themselves up to be captured.
The reaminaing members of the army apart from the commander are scared of Shrek
and all flee back this is again stereotypical as it

Introduction:
Archaeology has allowed society to gain a vast understanding of past cultures and
behaviours over thousands of years ago. Scientific research has allowed us to widen
our knowledge on humans and their past interaction. Through the excavation of the
Terracotta army, many insightful secrets have been uncovered. Buried in a large
mausoleum over 2200 years ago, the site reveals past hints of cultures and beliefs
during the ancient civilisation of China, although techniques need to be implemented
to better preserve one of the rarest ancient treasures and evidence that remains. The
Terracotta warriors are an army of clay built by the ancient emperor Quin Shi Huang.
When excavating the site many significant items have been found that have provided
scientists with lots of research. Many problems have been evidently found while
excavating and a few controversies have been sparked.

Questions On Researching The Career Elementary
Education
Carley Boucher
Mrs. Lozares

The ABC s and 1, 2, 3 s 1. I will be researching the career elementary education.
Elementary education has always interested me. This career interests me because I
love working with children and watching them interact with one another. I didn t
know until recently that I wanted to pursue a position in this career because I hadn t
really thought about it. Now I am certain that this is what I am interested in doing in
the future. Becoming a teacher is a lot of work and schooling. 4. Taking classes in

Some teachers may prefer to continue their work after hours doing things such as
grading papers, meeting with a student s parents, and preparing lessons ahead of
time (bls.gov). All of this work pays off in the summer when there is a three to four
month long break. Some teachers prefer to work or travel during this time. Most jobs
are extremely time consuming, but with this job you are usually able to manage your
time a lot more efficiently and still have a decent amount of family time.
Finding work as a teacher is surprisingly easy. 3. There are many organizations or
companies that would employ people in this occupation. Some examples are business
and communication centers, colleges and universities (depending on how high of a
degree in education a person obtains), boards of education, community organizations,
and even daycares (What Can I Do With This Major.com). 15. There are also many
professional organizations associated with this occupation such as your State and
Local Education Association, and different internet sites (OK college start.org).
Getting involved with some of these organizations, in my opinion, will help a person
who has this career interest extremely. Having extra practice and experience is
always a good thing.
14. Employment of kindergarten and elementary school teachers is projected to grow
6 percent from 2014 to 2024 (bls.gov). This growth is
Carpentry Was Very Good To Me For 12 Years
I enjoyed carpentry and it was very good to me for 12 years . This was a quote said
by the actor, Harrison Ford, as he was discussing how helpful the trade of carpentry
was for him. A carpenter is one who repairs and constructs frameworks and
structures. They install siding, kitchen cabinets, and they also drywall. The pieces
they build and repair are usually made from wood. Becoming a carpenter is a
perfect choice for someone who likes physical work, has excellent employment
opportunities, and a solid pay. A carpenter is always involved in physical work.
Carpentry requires the use of tools and machines, such as hammers, saws, and chisels.
Carpenters construct hospitals, houses, and other large projects. They are also
experts in scaffolding.
Modern Olympic Games Boycotts
From the beginning of the modern Olympic Games in 1896 the games have been
the essence of how sports can directly affect politics. The Olympic Games are
arguably the most popular multi sporting event in the world. As of 2010, twenty
three Nations and thirty nine separate cities have hosted the Olympics since its
revival in 1896 (Saum 8). The 1980 and 1984 Olympic Gameshas been labeled as a
case study , examining the relationship between sports and politics, and how they
affect each other. Some argue that the United Statespurposely boycotted the 1980
Olympics as a low risked protest against the Soviet Unions invasion into
Afghanistan, and also displaying the success of both capitalism and socialism. At
the end of the 1984 Olympic Games the United States came out victorious with a
more economically successful Olympic Games then the Soviet Union s, who held
the 1980 Olympic Games. Thus, concluding the triumph of Capitalism over
socialism. In The Political Olympics: Moscow, Afghanistan, and the 1980 U.S.
Boycott, Derick Hulme states that The peripheral relationship of sport to
international relations allows leaders to turn to it, aware that its use will be
relatively low risk, especially as evaluated against its potential benefits (Hulme 14).
In other words the 1980 and 1984 Olympic Games were a way for the United States
and Soviets to send low risk political statements. The outcome of the games were not
going to cause all out war or even decided the Cold war,
Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite
activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I
loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so
exciting, especially since it was the first thing my mother let me do out on my
own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have
made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice
just how bad the overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater
experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system,
the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it
is you reacting to the film and to the people around you around you as well, all the
while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common
experience and amplifies it so it feels like you re getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits
and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced
action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2 3 minute time frame, I am
left wanting to come back and see that movie when it comes out. It is how they reel
me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into
staying for the credits as well
Essay on Acceptance Speech commentary
The poem Acceptance Speech by Lynn Powell is about a housewife who feels
undervalued by her family and by society. The title of the poem suggests that the
character has received an award for achieving something brilliant, but in fact she is
being sarcastic and conducting an imaginary award ceremony for herself in her
kitchen, since no one else is willing to appreciate her hard work. The poet uses irony
and personification of kitchen utensils and ingredients to add humour to the play. She
uses the In this poem, the character deals with her desire to be appreciated by
propelling herself into an imaginary scenario in her kitchen where she is in the
spotlight and humorously personifies ingredients in foodwho are just as under
appreciated as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to her children, who simply growl at her when they are hungry, the
ingredients in the kitchen actually assist her in making the soup. The salt is
particularly important, as we only notice it when it is absent from food rather than
when it is present. When it is not in the food, its omission is strongly reflected in the
taste of the food. Hence, it is taken for granted. Similarly, this housewife is criminally
underappreciated and if she was not around, her family would instantly feel her
absence from the household. She also compares herself to the celery and the
parsnip , who are regularly forgotten and seen as bit players. The housewife knows
exactly this feeling, as she is similarly overlooked and seen as playing a more
minor role in the household than the man, who is traditionally the breadwinner.
Overall, although the poem is essentially a parody and uses plenty of humour,
there is an overbearing feeling of underappreciation, loneliness and frustration
towards her family on the part of the speaker. While at the beginning of the poem
the speaker s tone is mocking towards her family for having many expectations of
her yet taking her for granted, at the end of the poem there is a sense of isolation, as
the only applause she gets is the blue flame of the stove.
The structure is key to adding humour to this poem. For example, after the words
starring role at the end of the second stanza, the reader expects something
Procurement Strategies
Procurement Strategies Review Competition is fierce in today s world and a
business must work smarter versus harder. Many big name chain stores have
achieved success but none like that of Wal Mart. The following is a review of the
Wal Mart customer and his or her expectations of its procurement process. An
additional review of how these expectations affect Wal Mart s strategies, policies,
and procedures at both the domestic and global level is also included.

Wal Mart had a contract with a third party procurement firm in Asia. The firm used
suppliers that would mark up merchandise and resell that merchandise to Wal Mart.
The company has reduced costs, lead times, and eliminated the middleman mark ups.
In 2002, Wal Mart began to buy directly from the manufacturer to procure a better
price. According to Stundza, (2006), Wal Mart has global procurement and supplier
alignment teams responsible for identifying new suppliers, sourcing new products,
building partnerships with existing suppliers, and managing the global supply chain
of Wal Mart s direct imports.
Figure 1: Wal Mart s Procurement Process Conclusion Wal Mart is the leader in its
industry and continues to grow in popularity among the consumer. The reason for
its growth in popularity is its promise to deliver quality products at low prices. Wal
Mart can influence its suppliers in a way that ensures a low price on the products it
sells. Wal Mart expects its suppliers to follow its lead in giving the customer what he
or she expects and will continue to grow in consumer popularity as a result.

  • 2. The Effects Of Gangster Rap And Appropriation Of The West... As N.W.A fell into the laps of the mainstream target audience: white, middle class, suburban males and their angst filled teens, more problems began to arise regarding the misconceptions of gangster rap and appropriation of the experience of black men in low income cities. Most of the rap that this demographic would hear on the radio was the lighter Pop Rap of MC Hammer and The Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff. According to GZA, the founder of the Wu Tang Clan, the label (Gangster Rap) was created by the media to limit what we can say. We just deliver the truth in a brutal fashion...They don t like that, so you hear ban this, ban that . We attack people s emotions. It s a real live show that brings out the inside in people . But many people outside the scene just associated it with the violent rivalry between the East Coast s Bad Boy Records and the West Coast s Death Row records that ultimately resulted in the mysterious murders of The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac. However, when Efil4zaggin hit number #1 on Billboard charts, the genre became more widely acknowledged and accepted by mainstream audiences. Although, in a general sense, Fuck Tha Policewas relatable to the Every Man in it s dissatisfaction with unfairness it cannot be separated completely from it s specific context. Although facing discrimination and brutality at the hands of cops was a common experience for minorities, suburban America still refused to believe that this bias was happening. This track

  • 4. Antidepressants Should Be Treated Using Talk Therapy I feel trapped , I feel empty , I feel hopeless and numb , are all ways that people have described their depression. Usually this would be followed with going to the doctor and expressing how the person feels and then the doctor prescribing an antidepressant. The question that stands is does everyone on antidepressants actually need to be on antidepressants? Antidepressants should be reserved for the cases and people who really need them rather than someone who has situational depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or even seasonal affective disorder, all types of depression that can be treated using talk therapy rather than medication (Illiades, 7 Side Effects of Antidepressants). Depression is a chemical imbalance of the brain, usually when the part of the brain that produces serotonin produces the chemical in lower quantities (Rivas). Every year Americans consume more anti depressants than any other nation in the world and from the years 1988 1994, the use of anti depressants increased by 400% (Ross). Statistically speaking, women have a 70% chance of developing depression over men and about 13% of the women who have children would develop postpartum depression (Holms). There is no doubt that depression impacts a large amount of people and affects the wallets of those with depression. Globally, 350,000,000 people suffer from some form of depression, of those affected with depression; $80,000,000,000 is spent on antidepressants and therapy (Holms). There are

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Low germination rates reduce crop density, which results in indirect yield loss. Late emergence can result in poor plant performance and a direct yield loss [4], because roots are inadequately established and have less access to water and nutrients during later stages of vegetative and reproductive growth. Our knowledge of the regulation of seed germination has developed greatly in recent times, yet understanding of the genetic and mechanical basis for seed vigour differences is limited. By enhancing the seedling vigour trait, the agricultural industry might attain a remarkable advancement and increment in plant development. Seed vigour contributes directly to the economic success of commercial crops (Finch Savage, 1995) and seed companies therefore need to have the means to obtain a reliable estimate of seed vigour in order to be able to supply growers with seed lots of high vigour. This will increase the margin of profit by reducing cost of production and increasing productivity. Thus, seed vigour, if enhanced, will result in substantial savings. Keeping in view the above information, this paper will be beneficial in determining the genetic and mechanical basis of seed vigour.

With a population of approximately 56, 000, the Mosuo tribe is dwarfed when compared to china s population of 3.1 billion. The majority of the families live around Lugu Lake, a region that was isolated from the world until the 1970s.The Mosuotribe is often described as one of the last living matriarchal societies today. Given that Mosuo women make most of the major decisions, control the household finances, and pass on the familyname to their children, many anthropologists classify the Mosuo culture as a matriarchal society. but those who have studied these ancient societies are often at odds as to what to label them. Many prefer to call societies, like the Mosuo, matrilineal societies. [Source: frontline pbs.org]. In a matriarchy, a female is head of the family or society. With a matrilineal society, descent is traced through the mothers rather than fathers. Property is inherited through the female line. The Mosuo culture is one that is multifaceted and exhibits the features of both a matriarchal and matrilineal society. They have developed their own unique family structure, where there is no traditional father role and inheritance is passed from mother to the oldest daughter. Mosuo women carry the family name and run the household. Each household is multi generational, consisting of several families and the oldest woman is assigned the

Even in their moments of high stress they still make decent decisions. The only part of the novel that is somewhat questionable is when Frankenstein basically lets his wife die. I suppose Frankenstein could have just misunderstood his creations warning. Other than that, all of the plot points make total sense. The entire arc of the monster learning how terrible humans are and his reasoning for revenge is just so beautifully crafted by author Mary Shelley. In reality what makes the plot so logically correct is simple cause and effect. Take the monster for example, it really only does things because people do things to him. He learns from them, like a newborn. If people treated him differently, he would have reacted

The focus was then shifted to the adult learning style, and how greatly it differs between younger generations. What differences, if any, are there in learning strategies of the students who attend a traditional or non trational campus? The study sampled individuals from two separate campuses filling the demographic of traditional students (ages 18 22), and non traditional students (ages 23 and older). The first sample was derived from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) student population.
  • 17. The Nature Of The Poetry Of Percy Shelley s Mutability Shelley Percy is one of the most highly regarded Romantic poets of the 19th century. Many of Shelley s poem tell about the nature of the human condition. In many of his poems Shelley use elements of nature (seashells, the wind, the ocean, etc.) to discuss truths about the human condition. Percy Shelley examines the one consistent characteristic of being human in his poem Mutability . In his poem Mutability Shelley shows the fragility and unpredictability of the human condition. The poem opens with the speaker comparing humans to clouds that veil the midnight moon (Line 1). The clouds move radiantly across the sky and cover the light of the moon. The words speed , gleam , quiver and streaking personify the cloud image. Shelley describes the cloud s actions as a metaphor for human actions, How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver, / streaking the darkness radiantly! (Lines 2 3). He believes that humans go through life with speed, not taking time to rest; like clouds at night, we do not last forever. Shelley s use of the word of veil instead of covers creates a sense of purposefully hidden light. In lines three to four of the poem the wondrous sight is eventually extinguished by the darkness, yet soon/ Night closes round, and they are lost forever. By using this image of the night Shelley shows the cycle of change and demonstrates human morality. The speaker is pointing out that humans have short lives on Earth and regardless of how radiantly we may shine, we are like clouds at night that are overshadowed. In the second stanza Shelley describes the frailty of human existence. In lines five through nine humans are describes as forgotten lyres, whose dissonant strings/ Give various response to each varying blast,/ To whose frail frame no second motion brings/ One mood or modulation like the last. Shelley uses this as a metaphor that expands on the concept of human morality. In this stanza humans are compared to forgotten lyres saying that we will be forgotten when we are dead and gone. The different moods of the stanza are created by the different sounds of the lyre. Humans are being compared to instruments with beautifully melodies have been forgotten. Shelley is saying that once

According to their recent data, Canada was one of the biggest emitters of carbon dioxide, which is around 1.67 percent of global Co2 emissions in 2015 (Burck, J., Marten, F., Bals, C., 2015, December). In spite of the international treaty, half of participating nations, including Canada failed to reducing its Co2 emissions (Clark, D., 2012, November 26). Whether climate change occurred by human activities or naturally accruing phenomenon is a debatable issue. However, it may safely be said releasing carbon dioxide is one of the main reasons for climate change. The Puritans came to the new world seeking religious freedom and helped found most of the colonies in the New England region. The Puritans wanted a United government that will later become the basis for the Unites States, they believed that the overall well being of the people was more important than the well being of the few, and the Puritans believed that religion, church, and community were important aspects of the people s lives. The Puritans religion allowed them to prosper in the political, economical, and social development of the New England Colonies in the 1630 1660 s. The Puritans impacted the New England region. They believed that the people should elect a reverend and the government s power should lay in the hands of the people. The idea of a democracy was a huge step forward in improving the colonists lives and allowing the people to feel as though they had more control. As John Winthrop states we [the people] must be knit together, in this work as one man. (Document 1), the Puritans wanted to unite the people in the New England colonies to become one. The Puritans also incorporated their religion into their government, something that is not seen today. It is not that assessment is new to education but that the stakes of assessment has risen to a new level. It is apparent that testing is now viewed in a much different way by the public, schools and all stakeholders of schools than in the past. Over time, testing has developed roles of providing a grade to mark student progress, diagnose students strengths and weaknesses so that instruction can be planned for student improvement and indicate teacher effectiveness (Popham, 2014). In recent years, it has become common practice for the general public to use testing to form judgement of the effectiveness of schools. Tests are now included in teacher performance evaluations, and used to improve the teaching process. Foucault describes it as an explosion of numerous and diverse techniques for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations (Foucault 140). The primary and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is to secure and improve people s lives. The communication strategy used by children over the first year of life is predominately non verbal before development progresses to include verbal communication (Rodnick Wood, 1973). McDevitt and Ormrod (2010) suggest social emotional, physical and cognitive development is facilitated by the experiences children have in their family, school and community (p. 5). This raises the idea that the level of communicative development may differ greatly between children depending on experiential exposure. Rodnick and Wood (1973) expand on this further suggesting children will actually develop a level of grammatical and language understanding which is essential to communication, long before they commence schooling. In research conducted by Rodnick and Wood (1973) it was noted in their findings that the children subject to their research demonstrated a lower level of communication than expected at around the age of seven and suggest it may be due to environmental factors. • 38. Charles Darwin s Theory Of The Creation Of Species Seth Justus English 2 Mr. Johnson 2/16/15 Project Eagle Final Paper: Charles Darwin Charles Darwin has become Christianity s greatest enemy with his theories of the creation of species and has caused people to turn their backs on faith and look to science to be their religion. The way in which Darwin describes the creation of species in The Origin of Species does not agree with how species are created in Christian teachings. Charles Darwin s theories have impacted so many different aspects of life from what we teach our children in school to our chosen faith. Charles Darwin explains his theories on how different species are created in The Origin of Species. Darwin tells us that different species are created for a few different reasons. Darwin tells us that specie s struggle for existence plays a major part in the creation of species. The struggle for existence is if a variation is helpful then it will probably reappear in future generations, but if it is unhelpful the species will have a harder time surviving and then reproducing. When offspring that have these helpful variations continuously reproduce this is known as Natural selection, nature is selecting the useful variations and getting rid of the non helpful ones. The struggle for existence is the accumulation of variations until a new species is created, but how do variations occur? Darwin explains that scientist thought that there are variations in species because of environmental reasons like climate,
  • 39. Favism Research Paper Favism is one of the most common inherited enzyme deficiency where, 400 million people suffer from it. People who have favism and eat fava beans experience anemia that can often lead to death. Favism directly affects the circulatory system because many red blood cells are destroyed.Favism is the result of a lack of glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase, G6PD, which is supposed to get rid of free radicals in the blood. Free radicals are molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron. It is especially dangerous for children and pregnant women. Malaria is caused when a parasitic protozoa enters the bloodstream through an infected female mosquitoes bite. Neanderthals used plants 60,000 years ago to begin to treat it, and Ancient Greeks used opium milk. However Favism came around, even with the potential of anemia, it protected against the threat of Malaria, which was very common in these regions and more fatal. If Favism allows for the survival of humanity and protection against even more dangerous diseases, then it will stay in the gene pool. Now a while back, most survival took place outside in fields where beans, such as fava, were cultivated for food. In addition the housing situation was not the most sanitary thus the surplus of mosquitoes whom all have the potential of carrying malaria. • 43. The Controversy Of Homosexuality Sparks Controversy Introduction: In every corner of the world, the topic of homosexuality sparks controversy from both supporters and opponents of the sexual orientation. Merriam Webster s dictionary defines a homosexual as being sexually attracted to people of the same sex. The underlying influence from historical, sociological, and health disciplines are just a few reasons such a large gap exists on the spectrum between supporters and opponents of homosexuality. This paper serves as an analysis of the previously mentioned disciplines with gathered data from a variety of scholarly journals. Based on the grounds of historical, sociological, and health disciplines, it would be far too ethnocentric, discriminatory, and physically unhealthy for society to reject homosexuality as an individual s choice in a way of life. Historical Perspective: When viewing the United States acceptance of homosexuality there have been spikes and plateaus in its progression. Today, a majority of the states in the nation allow same sex marriage; however, in some of these states, homosexual couples are not able to receive the same Social Security benefits as heterosexual couples (Mushovic, 2011). This clearly demonstrates that although the nation has made great strides in treating homosexuals as equals, there is still some sanding around the edges that needs to be performed. When viewed in this aspect, it is seen that progress for homosexuals to be treated as equals is being made slowly, but surely.

Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good for the city. The salt is particularly important, as we only notice it when it is absent from food rather than when it is present. When it is not in the food, its omission is strongly reflected in the taste of the food. Hence, it is taken for granted. Similarly, this housewife is criminally underappreciated and if she was not around, her family would instantly feel her absence from the household. She also compares herself to the celery and the parsnip , who are regularly forgotten and seen as bit players. The housewife knows exactly this feeling, as she is similarly overlooked and seen as playing a more minor role in the household than the man, who is traditionally the breadwinner. Overall, although the poem is essentially a parody and uses plenty of humour, there is an overbearing feeling of underappreciation, loneliness and frustration towards her family on the part of the speaker. While at the beginning of the poem the speaker s tone is mocking towards her family for having many expectations of her yet taking her for granted, at the end of the poem there is a sense of isolation, as the only applause she gets is the blue flame of the stove. The structure is key to adding humour to this poem. For example, after the words starring role at the end of the second stanza, the reader expects something
