Bear-Bear Arms Restrictions

Once a customer passes his background check he can immediately take possession of a long gun in
Florida, but the state requires a 3 day waiting period on handgun purchases. Henson said the Palm

Henson said he did not remember the exact date that Mateen picked up his handgun, but it was well

betrays the impotency of such waiting periods (brietbart.com, June 2016)

Guns don t kill people; people kill people. A responsible gun owner is rarely involved in any sort of
gun related accident. According to Kyle Wintersteen, Managing Editor of Guns and Ammo, studies
show that children taught about firearms and their legitimate uses by family members have much
lower rates of delinquency than children in households without guns and children introduced to guns
associate them with freedom, security, and recreation not violence.

Research On The Salem Witch Trials
Research on the Salem Witch Trials Before the Trials Belief in the supernatural and specifically in the
devil s practice of giving certain humans (witches) the power to harm others in return for their loyalty
had emerged in Europe as early as the 14th century, and was widespread in colonial New England. In
addition, the harsh realities of life in the rural Puritan community of Salem Village (present day
Danvers, Massachusetts) at the time included the after effects of a British war with France in the
American colonies in 1689, a recent smallpox epidemic, fears of attacks from neighboring Native
American tribes and a longstanding rivalry with the more affluent community of Salem Town (present
day Salem). (http://www.history.com/topics/salem witch trials) ... Show more content on

Assess The Impact Of Web-Based Communication On Public...
The impact of web based communication on public attitudes and political policy making has grown
from small to large. With web based communication, people are able to get information out to a larger
quantity of people throughout the world. The impact is so great because we no longer need to rely on
word of mouth or the media and their personal views. Now everyone can get involved and go online to
get information. As stated in the article (the impact of web based communication on election and
political policy making). Technology allows for the mass distribution of a one way message from one
to many. There are many different views. One being that laws and policies could be formulated
allowing political power. However, this power would need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The data show that on twitter, political talk is highly partisan, where users clusters are characterized
by homogenous views and are linked to information sources. The more tweets on twitter, the more the
content or information is likely to be one sided. The other source of information is face book. Many of
these sites are viewed by the younger generation, who are into technology more so than the older
generation. This is causing many changes in the impact of web based communication. When they use
these social Medias, they are able to reach out to more people and if they have strong political views,
they can reach out to their friends and get the information out. Social media has grown and is
becoming the way to get information out and more and more adults are using it as well as the younger
generation. Many of the issues being posted are just personal opinions and thoughts, but it is enough
to get people on ones side and see their political point of view. People will constantly hit like if they
agree with the information being posted, causing people to just read views and not even know what
they are liking, but liking it just because their friend posted it. However, even though a person will
like something, many people are moving away from group postings and loyalty and are more
independent in their personal and individual views, ideas and expressions. Many of these are built
around human rights, environmental protection, inequality and many other issues. There are findings
that many people have different political views of their friends. These people are still friends.
However, they do not agree with their political

Machiavelli Archetypes
The Ideal Machiavellian Leader The media portrays a vast number of archetypes through the
animation of characters. Specifically, the archetype of a good leader is continually placed on display
and desired by the masses to be successful. The concept of a good leader is dated, and has been
introduced in the past several times by the famous writer, Niccolo Machiavelli. It is an archetype that
is a constant variable that is not bound by generation. Film adopts these same principles of the highly
coveted leader and brings them to life visually. Characters that are successful at gaining followers and
building positive relationships exemplify the traits of good leaders, whereas characters that cannot
solidify a following exemplify bad leaders. Niccolo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good leader must have a strong personality. This person s personality must be able to induce people
into following him/her. Machiavelli defines this superior, advantageous personality as half beast, half
man (Machiavelli, N). Additionally, Machiavelli states it is important for a leader to know how to
make use of both natures and that one without the other is not durable (Machiavelli, N) Machiavelli
manufactures the connection of a good leader needing to understand how to effectively deal with
different types of people. A good leader s personality must be adaptable, to travel between man and
beast. The man persona may be more suitable for a compassionate person, while the beast persona
may work best with an aggressive person. This interpretation is depicted in Prison Break through the
protagonist Michael Scofield, in his relationships with the other inmates. For instance, in season 1
Michael purposely gets arrested and placed into prison. He requests to be in the same prison as his
older brother that is on death row, for a crime he is wrongly convicted of committing. His objective is
to break his brother out before he is executed. Michael is aware that he cannot achieve this by

Ursula was not prepared for their program. She was the only female in a school of mostly white men.
The school existed outside of her comfort zone, in a different borough of New York. She had to take

and her decision to enter this prestigious school. But she was a quick study, and after switching her
major from chemical engineering to mechanical engineering, she found her way. (Burns, Ursula M.

Functions Of A Joint And Articular Cartilage
Osteochondritis Dissecans
Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), happens when a piece of tissue that covers a joint (articular
cartilage) is separated from the bone. Articular cartilage protects the bones and allows joints to move
smoothly, without pain.
OCD most commonly affects the knee joint, but it can also occur at the ankle, elbow, or other joints
throughout the body. OCD occurs mainly in children and adolescents. Mild cases of OCD tend to heal
over time, especially if a child has this condition. However, severe cases may require surgery to
reattach the articular cartilage to the surrounding bone.
CAUSES
The cause of this condition is not known. Possible causes include:
Injury from repetitive motion or repetitive stress on the joint.
Inadequate blood supply to the joint.
Having certain genes that make developing OCD more likely (genetic predisposition).
RISK FACTORS
The following factors may make you more likely to develop this condition:
Being a child or adolescent. Having bones that are still growing makes OCD more likely to occur.
Participating in sports that put repeated force on the joints, such as distance running.
Being obese.
Having a family history of OCD.
Having posture problems, such as bow legs or knock knees.
SYMPTOMS
In many cases, there are no symptoms of this condition. However, symptoms vary depending on the
severity and location of the condition. Possible symptoms include:
Joint pain

Why Is Love Important In Romeo And Juliet
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare is a tragedy about two teenagers who fall
in love, yet their parents are rivals. Romeo and Juliet end up being a love at first sight kind of deal,
meeting, not knowing that their families hate each others. Juliet comes up with a scheme to live with
Romeo forever, faking her death, however Romeo never got the notice of this and went over after her
ceremony, killing himself right as she wakes up, after she wakes up she ends up killing herself, laying
next to Romeo. The timing in this movie is incredibly horrible, from Romeo just missing the letter,
and from Juliet waking up right as he dies. It will could astonishes the audience that this is called a
tragedy, when it s seems more like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing Juliet says is Spread thy close curtain, love performing night, That runaway s eyes may

Advertising For Advertising
How much are ads part of everyday life? The New York Times recorded a study by Yankelovich, a
market research firm, and they estimated that people living in a city see up to 5,000 or more
advertisements a day. By the same token, children are heavily exposed to advertising, and most of the
ads today are directed right at them. Advertising to children is a big part of the market today.
Therefore, advertisers should not market to children because it is unethical. It can influence children s
behavior in a negative fashion, and markets can exploit children, and can use the media to reach
children at young ages even though they are not able to understand its intent. Ads can influence and
affect a child s behavior. With this in mind, marketers tapped into the children s market and figured it
would boost their revenue. It all starts when a child is very young. According to the article How
Marketers Target Kids children at six months of age can form mental images of corporate logos and
mascots. Brand loyalties can be established as early as age two... Not to mention, marketers will create
campaign ads so children will use pestering behavior to get a certain product, which starts at a young
age as well ( How Marketers Target Kids ). Marketers want children to be bothersome whenever they
want something and to continue this behavior. To emphasize this fact YTV Kids and Tweens Report in
2008 found results saying kids have almost 100% control when choosing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and

Human-Less Warriors Essay
As bloody wars drag on in Iraq and Afghanistan the United States military increasingly turns to human
less warriors to stem the loss of lives. The MQ 1 Predator and MQ 9 Reaper aerial drones are seeing
an increase in use, while remote controlled robots are being used to dispose of improvised explosive
devises. At what point do these computer systems move from machines capable of unethical actions,
to machines whose very existence is unethical? I argue that fully automated systems should not be
used in an offensive manner; rather they can only see ethical uses in limited defensive roles. In
exploring this question I will draw on the only fully autonomous US armed forces weapon system I
am aware of, the Phalanx CIWS, a missile defense system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phalanx checks that the missile is coming toward the ship, it does this to avoid shooting down friendly
missiles. It checks to see if the missile is able to hit the ship, based on its speed and heading. It also
checks to see if the missile fits within a velocity bracket in which missiles tend to fall. These are not
an exhaustive list of fail safes to ensure Phalanx only engages enemy projectiles, however it gives an
idea of the design thinking behind the system.
I believe that Phalanx CIWS falls into the third category presented in Who s in Charge of the Chip?,
that category being machines capable of harmful consequences. I believe it falls into this one by the
process of elimination, it isn t designed with a malicious intent, quite the opposite, its intent is to
protect. Secondly, it seems to have been designed with safety in mind as there are a battery of
conditions that must be fulfilled in order for the gun to fire. This leaves only the third category as a
possibility. As I am about to show the Phalanx has been shown capable of causing bad consequences. I
found two instances where a Phalanx system has acted in a way we would deem undesirable. First, in
February 1991, during the First Gulf War, a Phalanx system aboard the frigate USS Jarrett fired upon
the battleship USS Missouri. The ships were around three miles apart when they fell under attack from
an Iraqi missile.

The lights shine brightly onto the stage, illuminating the fact that there is a figure standing in the

While an instrumental background starts playing, the figure steps up towards the microphone, and a

was the night of the Westfield themed concert at Westfield Academy and Central School in 2016. As

Predictably Irrational By Dan Ariely
I have always been fascinated by the inner workings of the mind. Why we act the way we do in certain
situations and why we act irrationally. Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely attempts to explore and
answer these questions. He covers irrationality from a variety of topics such as human relationships
and market dynamics, but the implications are valid in any field that requires decision making. Two
topics that Ariely covers in the book are: the zero price effect and the endowment effect. With each of
these topics, Ariely challenges the reader to rethink their current decision making process and to step
outside the irrational mind of the consumer. Dan Ariely states:
Although a feeling of awe at the capability of humans is clearly justified, ... Show more content on

From the consumer s perspective, though, there is a huge difference between cheap and free. Give a
product away and it can go viral. Charge a single cent for it and you re in an entirely different
business, one of clawing and scratching for every customer. The psychology of free is powerful
indeed, as any marketer will tell you (Anderson, 2008). Ariely is aware of the power of free and offers
suggestions to policy makers. For example, governments attempt to persuade the population to receive
regular health checks; in some cases running large advertising campaigns and reducing the price of the
health check. Ariely suggests that instead of spending money on campaigns around creating
awareness, put the money towards making the health check free (Ariely, 2008). While this may not
apply to a country with free health care, the same general takeaway is still relevant: free is an
emotional button that can change a rational consumer into an irrational

Colonialism And Colonisation
The colonisation and subjugation of the minds of indigenous peoples was an integral part in the
successful domination of nationstates by global powers such as the United Kingdom. Colonialism, the
policy of ruling other territories for ones own benefit, normally by force, dominated the worlds stage
for hundreds of years, ravaging the traditional societies, religious practices and customs of a myriad of
indigenous communities. In the consideration of whether the minds of indigenous peoples were
colonised in conjunction with the domination of their land, it is prudent to remember and fully
consider the accepted anthropological definition of indigenous; self governing, ethnically
homogenous, sedentary groups with collective ownership of land. As the power of colonialism,
orientalism and imperialism grew in the second half of the second millennium, the cultural integrity
and independence of indigenous peoples globally decreased at an alarming rate. Colonial overlordship
has resulted in assimilation and syncretism in the realms of social culture and religious practice
worldwide, creating new and unique, hybridised communities in colonised areas. These cultures are
created through a sequence of cultural erosion as described by Olivia Harris; starting with syncretism,
continuing to colonisation, colonisation with active borrowing, alternation between two ways of
knowing, assimilation, resulting in innovation and creativity of a new way. The goals of colonisation
were time and time

Causes Of German Imperialism
Differing interpretations Fischer, Taylor and McMeekin all have different views on the extent to which
German imperialism was the predominant cause of the First World War. Fischer argues that German
imperialism bears the onus for the Great War, as he concluded that they had gone to war to achieve
European and worldwide domination. He states that Germany had confidence in the invincibility of
her military strength, implying that Germany had been building up their forces. This indicates
Germany must have already been preparing for war, strengthening her army until she saw that both
France and Russia were militarily weak in comparison to the extent that German elites believed they
would remain somewhat unhindered in their continuation of aggressive intentions. This is significant
for several reasons. First, it was controversial as these ideas challenged the pre existing general
consensus of historians outlook since the 1930s: that all involved European nations shared a collective
war guilt from the First World War. Fischer rejects this view. He references a document written by
Bethmann s private secretary on 9 September 1914, outlining the Chancellor s plan for peace
negotiations which he anticipated would soon take place, as according to the September Programme.
Fischer extrapolated that these detailed plans (that already had the support of the wider political nation
in Germany) must have existed in August and July, and that this was indication towards Germany s

that National Aeronautic Space Administration (NASA) and Kennedy Space Center are presented with

how much the Space Administration spent for each separate Space Shuttle launch. During the
operational years from 1982 to 2010, the average cost per launch was about $1.2 billion. Over the life
of the programme, this increases to about $1.5 billion per launch (p. 38). This source brought a new
perspective into my thought process about how costly the space programs can be. The authors of the
article presented the information though graphs as well, which I intend to include in my final research

NASA over the past years. Researching the topic of NASA s budget presented alarming evidence

Essay on Ted Williams vs. Ty Cobb
Ted Williams vs. Ty Cobb
In the August 30, 1905 edition of Detroit s Free Press, the sportswriters ran a small blurb announcing
the arrival of a Detroit Tigers rookie, Ty Cobb. They stated, Cobb left the South Atlantic League with
a batting average of .328. He will not pile up anything like that in this league, and he doesn t expect to
(Allen 177). Their prediction ironically rung true. Cobb hit better than their projected .328 batting
average twenty times in his twenty four seasons (McCallum 217). Tyrus Raymond Cobb s prolific
career leads many fans and historians to believe that he deserves the title of greatest hitter of all time.
However, some critics would argue that Ted Williams warrants this distinction. Unfortunately ... Show

Williams faced spitball less pitchers and benefited from frequent baseball changes during a game,
keeping the ball fresh and visibly white ( 1920 1945 ). Homerun totals increased because of these
essential changes in the game. Therefore, the supporters of Williams have little merit in the defense
that the Splendid Splinter hit more homeruns than Cobb. Cobb, annoyed by frequent questions about
the homerun power of Babe Ruth, stated that batters need no special skills to hit homeruns. To back up
his claim, Cobb went out and hit three homeruns that night and two more the next (Ty). Though
capable of hitting the long ball, Cobb preferred to choke up on the bat and slap singles, bunts, doubles,
and triples to all corners of the ballpark.
Since a comparison between homerun numbers has no merit because of the multiple variables existing
between the eras in which Cobb and Williams played, it should be thrown out as a criterion for a great
hitter. Therefore, the qualities that exemplify great hitting would be: batting average, batting titles,
hits, doubles, triples, Runs Batted In, and the opinions of other baseball players and analysts.
Until Pete Rose collected his 4,191st hit on September11 1985, Ty Cobb held the record for most
career hits in baseball. As the only pre 1900 sports magazine, The Sporting News said, Cobb, the
dominant player of the dead ball era, was to bat control what Babe Ruth was later to

My Experience At My Church
Have you ever felt like you were getting called upon to do something? I ve experienced this after my
dad passed away. I felt God calling me to serve my church. I started to become more active in my
church s faithful followers group. I felt God come into my life. I got the chance to go on this amazing
trip that changed my life around.
I was sitting in my confirmation class on Sunday afternoon, when my teacher, Melanie, was talking
about all the upcoming events. She had an eye catching video about the National Catholic Youth
Conference or NCYC. The group from two years about created the video. They went into detail of
what we d get out of the trip. The thing that stuck out the most was the unique feeling of God s
presents. It was time to pay for our spot on this trip. The cost was $50, so you would have a seat on
the bus. This frightened me because I didn t know if I wanted to go for sure. I was going to be around
200,000 other people, only seven being ones from my church. Preparing for this trip was time
consuming. We had to dedicate all our free time this summer to setting up fundraisers. The trip was
$510 per person. Our fundraising consisted of selling Pastry Puffins, bake sales, and 50/50 tickets.
Also there were people who would donate so they could get a free pancake breakfast out of the deal.
We had meetings on top of meetings. We had to think of every possible thing we could to make this
trip possible. We discussed trading items for weeks. We finally figured

islamic laws, depending where you are located geographically, it is safe to say that an unfortunately
high number of women experience discrimination daily. Many of these social injustices are results of a
secularized legal code. Women are permitted only one spouse, while for men they can wed up to four.
A young girl, according to law, can be wed at the age of nine, while boys at fourteen. Once a woman is
married, they are virtually bound to that man, however horrendous he or his actions might be. While it
s not technically illegal for a women to sue for divorce, it s a difficult process with harsh
ramifications. Men, in nearly every instance, win custody of the children, and women are left with
zero financial security afterwards. But this is not the worst of female suffering. Annually hundreds of
women perish in traditional Honor Killings , murders by male spouses or relatives of women

The Triumph Of The Eastern Orthodoxy In 726 AD
The triumph of the Eastern Orthodoxy In 726 AD, there was a massive eruption by the Santorini
Volcano. The Agean Sea was filled with tsunamis, ash, and volcanic rock that caused the sea to boil. It
was the largest eruption Europe had seen in over 2000 years. Right now you re probably wondering
how this has anything to do with the subject at hand. This is the story of how an eruption sparked one
of the biggest debates in the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church.
The eruption of Santorini and the invading Muslims caused the emperor to change Christian history.
Emperor Leo III of Constantinople saw this eruption as a sign that God was angry with the empire.
Leo was confused by this and wondered why God was angry with him while He continued to allow
the Muslims to invade Christian territories. The emperor had a theory that since the Muslims were
iconoclastic, which means they were against the images of religious figures such as a painting of
Jesus. Leo thought that since the Muslims weren t using images, God had been favoring them since
the Christian church did use images. So Leo had the image of Jesus, that was placed in front of ...

Emperor Leo was forced to lead a fleet against the Greeks instead of against Muslims. Pope Gregory

How Are Literary Devices Used In The Black Cat
The use of literary device is a vital part to Edgar Allan Poe s stories. They help show the meaning of
the short story and give information that is important to the narrative. Without any literary device it
will leave readers confused and wondering why certain things occurred. The Black Cat is a perfect
example of the use of literary device. Black cats have long been considered a symbol of bad luck, and
naming his story as such is a perfect example of literary devices. In The Black Cat, Edgar Allan Poe
uses point of view, imagery, and conflict to explain the human nature to act on impulse.

During my philosophy of teaching, I need to be confident with students during course. I need to
encourage my students during course so that they have trust and ability to study. I have planned a
teaching style to teach students in both practice and theory. Health care depends on the clinical
practice and if you do not have this knowledge, you cannot work in the hospital and clinics. However,
some students do not choose to work in the hospital and wish to focus on the theory and education.
For example, when I graduated from college, I never planned to study at the master s level. However,
after working four years in the hospital setting, I decided to apply for a master s degree so that I could
become a professor. I need to understand about students circumstances, because already I was student.
In this case, I can teach and give significant information to my students. Therefore, I have the capacity

Writing novels acts as an outlet to project their own opinions onto the subject matter because of this
crime novels are popular amongst female writers. Other crime novels, and detective stories usually
leave women feeling vulnerable, and the men are looked upon as the villain (Browder 2). Feminism in
writing puts the women in charge, showing that a women is just as good as any male and can take care

This was also compounded with a sense of isolationism that most Americans had during this time that
led to protective tariffs that were enacted. Goods coming into the U.S. from around the world were so
expensive that most Americans would not/could not buy them. This in turn hurt the other economies
and limited the amount of American goods that they could purchase. Thus, more overproduction.

In itself this was a terrible event, but from which recovery was possible. The problem was there were
too many other variables that were working against the US at the same time (the ones I listed above).
When all of these events happened the US tried to call in loans from around the world but it was too
late. The economic crisis had become one that was no longer bound to the confines of the US.
The way the Great Depression ended is not as easy to pinpoint. The New Deal established by Franklin
Roosevelt was instrumental in returning a sense of security to the citizens of the US. Bank Holidays
gave the American people time to cool off and calm themselves about the turbulent banking crisis.
This helped to stop bank runs which had shut down many banks.
Implementation of the many programs of the New Deal also helped the economy. The FDIC

the SSA (social security for disabled and elderly), TVA (provided jobs, water and electricity to
underprivileged Southern areas) and several other programs gave hope to the American people. There

By using careful tactics, techniques, and procedures, the American Colonies were able to make good
use of their artillery to help combat the superior opposing artillery force. Lord Cornwallis artillery
crew teams lacked the experience and skill that the American French artillery forces had used. By
using special munitions and creative efforts, they were able to overpower the British and eventually
led them into a siege. They were cut off from rations, water, and other outside supplies which rendered
them incapable of fighting back. The British troops had resorted to eating rancid meat and dysentery
as well as smallpox had begun to spread throughout the ranks. The siege only lasted nine days, which
was also the entire period of which the battle was actually fought. This battle had provided us with
some knowledge of how we could use artillery to win battles in a short period of time, when correctly
employed. Artillery was the most vital key factor in this battle because it helped to defend the
American Colonies from the British forces and kept them pinned down or backed into a corner with
no possible opportunity of egressing. The British reinforcements were unable to reach their

Comparing The Faerie Queene And Sir Gawain And The Green...
The two epic poems that will be analyzed in the paper will be, The Faerie Queene and Sir Gawain and
the Green Knight. Throughout this paper it will be theorized as to how and what influences the
continuous developments throughout the poems and of how the authors of these masterpiece stories
uses important symbolism to portray their Christian beliefs in this era of time. The Faerie Queene was
written during the late 15th century when the Reformation Era, a religious revolution that would
define today s beliefs and structures took place. Edmund Spenser wrote The Faerie Queene during this
time in history when England had separated itself from the Catholic Church and went on to create its
own Protestant church. And this poem is full of religion and politics. This poem is almost exactly like
a guide on how an individual can go on and live a holy life if they follow the six values that are
portrayed in each book that is written. Which is obvious because there is six different books that are
dedicated to each value. The six values are: holiness, temperance, chastity, friendship, justice, and
courtesy. So, this shifts the readers focus to all the religious things that are portrayed throughout the
entirety of these books. Throughout the epic poem it is believed that Edmund Spenser holds
Protestantism as a true religion and that Catholicism and its church was false and evil and that theme
is depicted right at the start of the poem, when Red Cross first encounters the monster,

The Art And Science Of Craft Confectionery By Pat Santucci
The Appealing Simplicity of Craft Confectionery
Ryan Gosling perfectly illustrated the love that people have for candy when he said, I think the one
thing I love most about being an adult is the right to buy candy whenever and wherever I want ( Ryan
Gosling Quotes ). Candy holds a special place in many people s hearts whether it be caramel,
chocolate, or lollipops, and Americans love candy so much that they spend sixteen billion dollars a
year just on chocolate alone (Reilly). In the Pecha Kucha presentation, The Art and Science of Craft

Ethos is the appeal to ethics, and it is used in order to persuade the audience of the speaker s
credibility and character. The presentation begins when he is introduced by a female announcer who
says Pat is a qualified confectionery expert . He continues to prove his credibility when he starts
explaining the scientific structure about sugar and how the mixtures of the different types of sugars
make candy work . Despite part of his purpose being to persuade his audience that it is not difficult to
create these confections, he makes sure to acknowledge that not all craft confections are easy to make,
such as chocolate or cotton candy. He explains that these confections requires specific equipment and
more intense processes, but by admitting this difficulty, he gains the audience s trust by showing that
he is honest and will disclose all information he knows even if it may go against his general statement
of persuasion. When he discusses how to make cotton candy, he uses scientific vocabulary such as
centrifugal force when describing the more tedious process, thus further proving that he knows what
he is talking about when it comes to craft confectionery. Another example of the use of scientific
vocabulary is when the speaker discusses how caramel is made through a process called

Should the government be allowed to legitimately prohibit citizens from publishing or viewing

Traditionally, liberals defended the freedom of consenting adults to publish and consume pornography
in private from moral and religious conservatives who wanted pornography banned for its obscenity,
its corrupting impact on consumers and its corrosive effect on traditional family and religious values.
But, in more recent times, the pornography debate has taken on a somewhat new and surprising shape.

Other sexually explicit representations depict acts of violent coercion: people being bound, whipped,
beaten, tortured, penetrated by objects, mutilated, raped and even killed. Some sexually explicit
material may be degrading, without necessarily being overtly violent. This material depicts people
(most often women) in positions of servility and subordination in their sexual relations with others, or
engaged in sexual acts that many people would regard as humiliating. Some sexually explicit material
involves or depicts children. Some portrays bestiality and necrophilia; and so on.
On the first definition of pornography as sexually explicit material, all such material would count as
pornography, insofar as it is sexually explicit. But this simple definition is not quite right. Anatomy
textbooks for medical students are sexually explicit they depict exposed genitalia, for example but are
rarely, if ever, viewed as pornography. Sexual explicitness may be a necessary condition for material
to count as pornographic, but it does not seem to be sufficient. So something needs to be added to the
simple definition. What else might be required?
Here is a second definition. Pornography is sexually explicit material (verbal or pictorial) that is
primarily designed to produce sexual arousal in viewers. This definition is better: it deals with the
problem of anatomy textbooks and the like. Indeed, this

Why Is Electronic Voting A Bad Idea
Is Electronic Voting a Bad Idea?
Is electronic voting a bad idea? Some people believe it is and others do not. In my opinion, I think
electronic voting is not a good idea. I do not trust electronic voting due to hacking problems, also
because its very expensive as well and not everyone knows or can use an electronic device.
One reason I believe electronic voting is not a good idea is because of hacking problems. I dont feel
like its a secure way to vote. Just with basic electrical knowledge and tools someone can easily hack
the system and tamper with the votes. For example: in my experience i knew someone that was very
skilled in computers. This person easily showed me how he can use certain codes and hack into
cameras from other places. That in fact scared me because he made it look so easy. No matter how

Elijah Pierson Sparknotes
Paul E. Johnson and Sean Wilentz wrote a biographical story of a man named Matthias, whose
original name was Matthew Roberts. They were intrigued by his murder trial from the nineteen
century (181). The storyline clearly presents controversy of Matthew Roberts way of life, his
preachings, and the events that took place in his Kingdom Mount Zion. Mr. Roberts was a great
influencer as a religious man during the nineteenth century. Religion, in my opinion, are one of the
main symbols of this storyline. Religion influenced the way the characters in this story made decision

The authors then started to describe Matthew Roberts life story in great detail from his childhood to

to his preaching to his coworkers of sinful doings which later resulted in him being discharge from his
place of work. Because of Matthias inconsistency with work it led his family to drown in debt and
became poor. Eventually, Matthias once again spoke in sermons about his beliefs. Although many
thought he was insane, he still gained audiences that truly believed him. His acts of religion led him
powerful enough to start a Kingdom named Mount Zion. Mount Zion was a placed owned originally

Matthias started assigning sexual partners for himself and his followers. These led to other suspicious

Memories In The Silent Cry
Each novel has specific themes or images it is attempting to portray throughout the text. The Silent
Cry is no exception to this attempt. After reading the novel, it soon became clear to me that the theme
of this novel is the importance of memories. I believe that the novel is trying to show how important
our memories are while highlighting the differences of these memories between family members
based on their life experiences. The first place where we can see the vastly different recollection of
memories is when the brothers are discussing S. Takashi has very fond memories of S bringing him

Takashi sees him like a weak man and emphasizes the strength of his grandfather s brother. Mitsu

or his brother, we see that the confusion continues. Takashi claims that it was the brother who went up
to Kochi. Mitsu proclaims that it was their grandfather who went first. He recalls exact dates and uses
that in his arguments against his brother. Mitsu enjoys taking this memory way from his brother and
declares that he has the memory mistaken: That was what he wanted to believe, so he was almost
consciously ignoring the fact that it was wrong (Oe, Pg. 95) The importance of memories is key to
understanding the novel, but we must also focus on the idea of life experiences. I believe that the life

Women s Behavior Or Aggressiveness Towards The Bobo Doll...
Bobo Doll Experiment Accomplishment is socially judged by ill defined criteria so that one has to rely
on others to find out how one is doing (Bandura). In the 1960s and 1970s, being a psychologist was
difficult. In order to prove a theory, you would have to conduct different experiments that would lead
to a conclusion that was still criticized by society. An example, of a psychologist that had difficulty
with his experiment is Albert Bandura. In the Bobo Doll Experiment, Albert Bandura used different
methods, on groups of kids of different ages and genders. To understand the Bobo Doll Experiment,
one must first know what Albert Bandura s experiment was about, how it correlates to children s
aggression, and how television and games contribute to children s behavior. The purpose of Albert
Bandura experiment was to study the children s behavior or aggressiveness toward the Bobo doll, after
observing an adult being aggressive toward the doll themselves. This experiment is now known as The
Bobo Experiment. According to the Association for Psychological Science, Albert Bandura conducted
this Bobo doll experiment with children as young as three years old and as old as 6 years old. Bandura
used a female role model and the subjects were divided into three groups. The first group was exposed
to the aggressive role model and the second group was exposed to their non aggressive role model.
And the third group was not exposed to aggression at all. (Association for

Global Finance Inc. Uses Network
Global Finance Inc. uses a backbone network for its network connection. A backbone can tie multiple
local area networks together for the passage of data between the individual networks and from the
networks on the internet or other external network resources. The main reason for using a backbone
network is to improve overall performance of a larger system by creating separate LAN s for groups
of users who communicate primarily with each other. The backbone network also makes it possible to
extend the overall range of the combined systems beyond that of a single LAN. (Englander, 200, page
407) One important uses of backbone networks, which can be seen in the diagram below, is the ability
of the system to extend the wireless access beyond the limited range of an individual access point.
Multiple access points are distributed over a large area to provide a wider range of coverage. This
method also improves the speed and computer performance for individual users. (Englander, 200,
page 407) Because of the hierarchical concept of a network diagram, this backbone network layout
can be called a 3 tiered network. A 3 tier application is an application program that is organized into
three major parts, each of which is distributed to a different place or places in the network. The first
tier is the application user s workstation that contains the programming that provides the graphical
user interface or more commonly referred to as the GUI interface, and application specific entry

When they use these social Medias, they are able to reach out to more people and if they have strong political views, they can reach out to their friends and get the information out. Social media has grown and is becoming the way to get information out and more and more adults are using it as well as the younger generation. Many of the issues being posted are just personal opinions and thoughts, but it is enough to get people on ones side and see their political point of view. People will constantly hit like if they agree with the information being posted, causing people to just read views and not even know what they are liking, but liking it just because their friend posted it. However, even though a person will like something, many people are moving away from group postings and loyalty and are more independent in their personal and individual views, ideas and expressions. Many of these are built around human rights, environmental protection, inequality and many other issues. There are findings that many people have different political views of their friends. Specifically, the archetype of a good leader is continually placed on display and desired by the masses to be successful. The concept of a good leader is dated, and has been introduced in the past several times by the famous writer, Niccolo Machiavelli. It is an archetype that is a constant variable that is not bound by generation. Film adopts these same principles of the highly coveted leader and brings them to life visually. Machiavelli defines this superior, advantageous personality as half beast, half man (Machiavelli, N). A good leader s personality must be adaptable, to travel between man and beast. The man persona may be more suitable for a compassionate person, while the beast persona may work best with an aggressive person. • 7. Functions Of A Joint And Articular Cartilage Osteochondritis Dissecans Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), happens when a piece of tissue that covers a joint (articular cartilage) is separated from the bone. Articular cartilage protects the bones and allows joints to move smoothly, without pain. OCD most commonly affects the knee joint, but it can also occur at the ankle, elbow, or other joints throughout the body. OCD occurs mainly in children and adolescents. Mild cases of OCD tend to heal over time, especially if a child has this condition. However, severe cases may require surgery to reattach the articular cartilage to the surrounding bone. CAUSES The cause of this condition is not known. Possible causes include: Injury from repetitive motion or repetitive stress on the joint. Inadequate blood supply to the joint. Having certain genes that make developing OCD more likely (genetic predisposition). RISK FACTORS The following factors may make you more likely to develop this condition: Being a child or adolescent. Having bones that are still growing makes OCD more likely to occur. Participating in sports that put repeated force on the joints, such as distance running. Being obese. Having a family history of OCD. Having posture problems, such as bow legs or knock knees. SYMPTOMS In many cases, there are no symptoms of this condition. The New York Times recorded a study by Yankelovich, a market research firm, and they estimated that people living in a city see up to 5,000 or more advertisements a day. By the same token, children are heavily exposed to advertising, and most of the ads today are directed right at them. Advertising to children is a big part of the market today. Therefore, advertisers should not market to children because it is unethical. It can influence children s behavior in a negative fashion, and markets can exploit children, and can use the media to reach children at young ages even though they are not able to understand its intent. Ads can influence and affect a child s behavior. With this in mind, marketers tapped into the children s market and figured it would boost their revenue. It all starts when a child is very young. According to the article How Marketers Target Kids children at six months of age can form mental images of corporate logos and mascots. Brand loyalties can be established as early as age two... The MQ 1 Predator and MQ 9 Reaper aerial drones are seeing an increase in use, while remote controlled robots are being used to dispose of improvised explosive devises. At what point do these computer systems move from machines capable of unethical actions, to machines whose very existence is unethical? I argue that fully automated systems should not be used in an offensive manner; rather they can only see ethical uses in limited defensive roles. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phalanx checks that the missile is coming toward the ship, it does this to avoid shooting down friendly missiles. It checks to see if the missile is able to hit the ship, based on its speed and heading. It also checks to see if the missile fits within a velocity bracket in which missiles tend to fall. These are not an exhaustive list of fail safes to ensure Phalanx only engages enemy projectiles, however it gives an idea of the design thinking behind the system. I believe that Phalanx CIWS falls into the third category presented in Who s in Charge of the Chip?, that category being machines capable of harmful consequences. I believe it falls into this one by the process of elimination, it isn t designed with a malicious intent, quite the opposite, its intent is to protect. Secondly, it seems to have been designed with safety in mind as there are a battery of conditions that must be fulfilled in order for the gun to fire. This leaves only the third category as a possibility. As I am about to show the Phalanx has been shown capable of causing bad consequences. I found two instances where a Phalanx system has acted in a way we would deem undesirable. Two topics that Ariely covers in the book are: the zero price effect and the endowment effect. • 13. Colonialism And Colonisation The colonisation and subjugation of the minds of indigenous peoples was an integral part in the successful domination of nationstates by global powers such as the United Kingdom. Colonialism, the policy of ruling other territories for ones own benefit, normally by force, dominated the worlds stage for hundreds of years, ravaging the traditional societies, religious practices and customs of a myriad of indigenous communities. In the consideration of whether the minds of indigenous peoples were colonised in conjunction with the domination of their land, it is prudent to remember and fully consider the accepted anthropological definition of indigenous; self governing, ethnically homogenous, sedentary groups with collective ownership of land. As the power of colonialism, orientalism and imperialism grew in the second half of the second millennium, the cultural integrity and independence of indigenous peoples globally decreased at an alarming rate. Colonial overlordship has resulted in assimilation and syncretism in the realms of social culture and religious practice worldwide, creating new and unique, hybridised communities in colonised areas. These cultures are created through a sequence of cultural erosion as described by Olivia Harris; starting with syncretism, continuing to colonisation, colonisation with active borrowing, alternation between two ways of knowing, assimilation, resulting in innovation and creativity of a new way. • 14. Causes Of German Imperialism Differing interpretations Fischer, Taylor and McMeekin all have different views on the extent to which German imperialism was the predominant cause of the First World War. Fischer argues that German imperialism bears the onus for the Great War, as he concluded that they had gone to war to achieve European and worldwide domination. He states that Germany had confidence in the invincibility of her military strength, implying that Germany had been building up their forces. This indicates Germany must have already been preparing for war, strengthening her army until she saw that both France and Russia were militarily weak in comparison to the extent that German elites believed they would remain somewhat unhindered in their continuation of aggressive intentions. This is significant for several reasons. First, it was controversial as these ideas challenged the pre existing general consensus of historians outlook since the 1930s: that all involved European nations shared a collective war guilt from the First World War. Fischer rejects this view. He references a document written by Bethmann s private secretary on 9 September 1914, outlining the Chancellor s plan for peace negotiations which he anticipated would soon take place, as according to the September Programme. Fischer extrapolated that these detailed plans (that already had the support of the wider political nation in Germany) must have existed in August and July, and that this was indication towards Germany s ... Essay on Ted Williams vs. Ty Cobb Ted Williams vs. Ty Cobb In the August 30, 1905 edition of Detroit s Free Press, the sportswriters ran a small blurb announcing the arrival of a Detroit Tigers rookie, Ty Cobb. They stated, Cobb left the South Atlantic League with a batting average of .328. He will not pile up anything like that in this league, and he doesn t expect to (Allen 177). Their prediction ironically rung true. Cobb hit better than their projected .328 batting average twenty times in his twenty four seasons (McCallum 217). Williams faced spitball less pitchers and benefited from frequent baseball changes during a game, keeping the ball fresh and visibly white ( 1920 1945 ). Homerun totals increased because of these essential changes in the game. Therefore, the supporters of Williams have little merit in the defense that the Splendid Splinter hit more homeruns than Cobb. Cobb, annoyed by frequent questions about the homerun power of Babe Ruth, stated that batters need no special skills to hit homeruns. To back up his claim, Cobb went out and hit three homeruns that night and two more the next (Ty). Though capable of hitting the long ball, Cobb preferred to choke up on the bat and slap singles, bunts, doubles, and triples to all corners of the ballpark. Since a comparison between homerun numbers has no merit because of the multiple variables existing between the eras in which Cobb and Williams played, it should be thrown out as a criterion for a great hitter. Therefore, the qualities that exemplify great hitting would be: batting average, batting titles, hits, doubles, triples, Runs Batted In, and the opinions of other baseball players and analysts. Until Pete Rose collected his 4,191st hit on September11 1985, Ty Cobb held the record for most career hits in baseball. Throughout this paper it will be theorized as to how and what influences the continuous developments throughout the poems and of how the authors of these masterpiece stories uses important symbolism to portray their Christian beliefs in this era of time. The Faerie Queene was written during the late 15th century when the Reformation Era, a religious revolution that would define today s beliefs and structures took place. Edmund Spenser wrote The Faerie Queene during this time in history when England had separated itself from the Catholic Church and went on to create its own Protestant church. And this poem is full of religion and politics. This poem is almost exactly like a guide on how an individual can go on and live a holy life if they follow the six values that are portrayed in each book that is written. Which is obvious because there is six different books that are dedicated to each value. The six values are: holiness, temperance, chastity, friendship, justice, and courtesy. So, this shifts the readers focus to all the religious things that are portrayed throughout the entirety of these books. • 41. Global Finance Inc. Uses Network Global Finance Inc. uses a backbone network for its network connection. A backbone can tie multiple local area networks together for the passage of data between the individual networks and from the networks on the internet or other external network resources. The main reason for using a backbone network is to improve overall performance of a larger system by creating separate LAN s for groups of users who communicate primarily with each other. The backbone network also makes it possible to extend the overall range of the combined systems beyond that of a single LAN. (Englander, 200, page 407) One important uses of backbone networks, which can be seen in the diagram below, is the ability of the system to extend the wireless access beyond the limited range of an individual access point. Multiple access points are distributed over a large area to provide a wider range of coverage. This method also improves the speed and computer performance for individual users. (Englander, 200, page 407) Because of the hierarchical concept of a network diagram, this backbone network layout can be called a 3 tiered network. A 3 tier application is an application program that is organized into three major parts, each of which is distributed to a different place or places in the network.
