Characters Of Sherlock Holmes By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Since the beginning of time, the contradiction between good and evil has been present in all stages of
life. Everybody is capable of having good and evil in their lives, is just a great part of what defines a
human being. In the books of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, there are many villainous
characters that are constantly forcing this detective to go out of his way and offer a more honorable
sense of justice. Specifically, Professor Moriarty, as is known as the most mysterious, popular and
clever of all the corrupted characters of the novel. Sherlock Holmes is often considered as the other
side of the coin, the good to Moriarty s evil, revealing that these two traits can come in any shape or
form.
Professor James Moriarty, shows up as a malevolent character in many of the fictional Sherlock
Holmes stories. Is often overrated, but as a character he is really important, since in different versions
of the stories he is the one responsible for Holmes s death. He is portrayed as a criminal mastermind
who runs an illegal ring by taking people s secrets as a form of payment so he can then give away
some of his protection, and gain what he really desires: power. Starting from the beginning, this
frivolous character is like a master puppeteer, he is very intelligent, cunning and he enjoys to
manipulate people who feel weak under his command. On the other side, Moriarty is hiding in plain
sight, and for him is just a game, more exactly like chess, in where he can move

Child Prostitution in Asia
Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults. There
was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the Middle Ages
and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered marriageable age.
Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the world of adults.
However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and childhood is a time for
innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was rightly seen as barbaric and
archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive adulthood. Physical and emotional
abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type of abuse characterized by sexual
activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of children leads to abnormal
development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to violence and often continuing the
chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to commit sexual acts before they are
physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over
the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a profitable business for perpetrators. Child
prostitution is illegal all over the world, but in some countries the laws against child prostitution and
the use of underage people for sexual interactions are lax and often go unenforced. The World

George Ritzer s Explaination of How to Avoid Mcdonaldization
Mr. George Ritzer explain that Mcdonaldization can be avoided, he gave us good explanation the only
time he goes to McDonalds is to use the bathroom he also mentioned that if you have to take your kids
there blind fold them something that might not sit too well with the American people . But his theory
and concept states that it s very hard to avoid Mcdonaldization because it has taken over the American
society and has become part of our life s simply what he calls the Iron Cage
(http://www.learningace.com) . Through his research which states that by simply neglecting the
variety and diversity of consumer practices in different regions and parts of the world and the various
uses to which consumers can put McDonaldization, using its products and procedures to serve their
own needs. There are many ways Mcdonaldization can be resisted in: social institution, education, the
economy, family, as well as religion and military that our society can reverse the effects on the way we
live. Take for instance the schools and classrooms across the world. In Virginia Beach the school
system are based on the SOL(Standards of Learning) testing that has taken control and prevents our
children from getting a good education, this is designed to solely grade the school on how many kids
move up to next level it is not the importance of teaching and educating. We as parents should be more
involved ask question and do not believe that no child should be left behind.

General Douglas Macarthur s Duty, Honor Country
In the 1960 s, America s intense nationalism was shattered by the horrors brought about by two
consecutive World Wars. Thousands of Americans died fighting in what they saw as another man s
war, an eastern war. America experienced the pain of war and sought to avoid experiencing it ever
again. But the world feared a newer, and more dangerous threat after the great wars: communism.
When America s government again wanted to become involved in the other man s war, many young
men and their families protested vehemently. When General Douglas MacArthur received an award
from Westpoint, his acceptance address, entitled Duty, Honor, Country, morphed into a call to arms to
the students, future military leaders, a reminder of the three ideals that ... Show more content on

He knows that, with the memory of the bloodshed and loss of World War Two not far from their
minds, many could be reluctant to march to war yet again. But instead of shy away from this fact, he
makes this concession to the men, saying that, The soldier, above all others, prays for peace...for he
must bear the deepest wounds of war (MacArthur). The General knows that to ignore this sentiment of
the soldiers would be to lose their faith entirely. The government was far from eager to leap into
conflict again, but believed that fighting against communism wherever it surfaced was crucial to
stopping it, and so they played on the nascent fear of Russia in order to justify the wars in Korea and
Vietnam (The Cold War Museum). MacArthur relies also on the patriotism of the American soldiers
and their pride in their country to push them to fight. He tells the cadets that they, stand as the Nation s
war guardian, as its lifeguard from the raging tides of international conflict, as its gladiator in the
arena of battle (MacArthur). With American sentiments strong after World War 2, MacArthur trusts
that their pride in country and sense of duty will be strong enough to push them into combat.
MacArthur also knows that the men have pride not only in their country, but

Why Is Erik Fisher Bad
There are tons of horrible people in this world. There are people that can easily blackmail, bomb, and
kill innocent people for no reason except for making other people feel horrible. For example Osama
Bin Laden was the leader of the terrorist organization al Qaeda. al Qaeda is best known for the
horrible attacks of 9/11. I think some villains can easily can relate to how Erik Fisher is so
disregarding of others, cruel, and murderous. While there are many things that makes people great
villains Erik Fisher must have most of them. Throughout the book Erik is very disregarding to others
because he doesn t care about others sadness or pain. Without caring Erik will just steal from people
and hit people causing some severe hits. Unlike Erik, Paul tries to help people. Paul was even willing
to jump into a sinkhole and pull people out. Paul even stands up to his brother for some things that he
does but it usually doesn t end well for Paul. In contrast to Paul, Erik becomes an even bigger villain
throughout the book. So by far that makes Erik a cruel villain. ... Show more content on

Some people just do little things like steal a pack of gum from an corner store and that might be
considered cruel but Erik is more than 10 times as worse as that. Erik has broken into houses to steal

Downs Mike Costello is struck by lightning. After this death occurred Erik acted like he cared but then
makes fun of Mike Costello s little brother Joey Costello trying to take of Mike s shoes. This is why
this makes Erik one cruel

Storytelling and Its Relevance
Storytelling and its relevance
Storytelling is, as a concept, built upon the fundamental question of why. From the dawn of
civilization to the marketing activities of a silicon valley technology company, the success of every
endeavor in between can be traced to the resolution of this fundamental question. Storytelling is one of
the few human traits that are truly universal across culture and through all of known history, writes
Jeremy Hsu for Scientific American . Anthropologists find evidence of folktales everywhere in ancient
cultures, written in Sanskrit, Latin, Greek, Chinese, Egyptian and Sumerian. People in societies of all
types weave narratives, from oral storytellers in hunter gatherer tribes to the millions of writers
churning out books, television shows and movies.
In his book The Triumph of Narrative, Robert Fulford writes about the historical significance of
narratives and their impact on culture through time and generations. When ancient man s crop failed,
for example, he wanted to know why. To the non scientific mind, the most compelling explanations
arose in the form of religion; crops failed because the gods were unhappy and required tribute. The
power of these stories, as mentioned, lies in the fact that on some level in the consciousness of the
audience they make sense they resolve the question of why and provide explanation for the
happenings around the brain. The story from Rapunzel to War and Peace is one of the basic tools
invented by the

A Summary On Private Equity Essay
Private Equity Weiwei Zhu FleetCor Deal Summary: As a Managing Director at Summit Partners, I
have received an investment proposal of FleetCor deal from the deal team To invest 44.9 million in
FleetCor for an ownership position of 46%, in the form of convertible preferred stock with an 8%
accruing yield. This memo includes all my concerns for this deal. Good Business Framework: Market
Position: Strong FleetCor is one of the largest issuers of commercial fleet fuel purchase cards in the
US. Targeting the middle market, it s positioned to achieve leading market share, as most competitors
focus on upper end market. Also, FleetCor has advantage of local market distribution. Competitors do
not have such cost structure or infrastructure to support an entry into the middle market. Thus,
compared to current and potential competitors, FleetCor can be a leader in this market segment.
Market Growth market share trends: Very Positive The total market size for commercial FleetCards is
2 billion. And according to Bain market sizing studies, the market of FleetCor can be $500 million,
big enough for potential IPO. The market expansion and growth are strong, even stronger with
consideration to related services such as roadside assistance. Especially the middle market had
undervalued penetration. Card penetration in the upper end market is 75%, while only 25% in the
middle market, which indicates a huge space for expansion and growth. Thus, FeetCor is very likely to

The agreement is comprehensive and involves agriculture, fishery, and forestry goods, apart from
maintaining import duties on sugar and export duties on several products. For Russia, the Agreement
is a complex balance of political and economic costs and benefits, exposing Russia s agriculture to
greater competition from the other nations, but allowing it to gain greater geopolitical and economic
influence in the region. The agreement will go into effect 30 days after the first three endorsements.
The Speakers of Ukraine s parliament and the upper branch of the Russian parliament suggested on
November 30, 2011, that all CIS members should sanction the FTA in only one day. On December 9,
2011, Russia s First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov stated that CIS countries were getting ready
to endorse the 2011 CISFTA. Except for Russia, there was little or no progress on approval in the rest
the member states, with Belarus being the only other country so far signaling likely ratification of the
agreement in the 2012 spring session of the parliament.

The, The Infernal Machine, And Ubu Roi By Alfred Jarry
In the three plays that we have discussed in class, Antigone by Jean Anouilh, The Infernal Machine by
Jean Cocteau, and Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry, there is a prodigious depiction of female characters and
power that come in numerous ways. In The Infernal Machine there are female characters, such as
Jocasta and the Sphinx, who show power and authority. Likewise, in Antigone, characters, such as
Antigone and her sister, Ismene, also show power and supremacy. In Ubu Roi, the main character that
showed power through rule was Mere Ubu. From being a woman of authority, to rebelling against
men with a greater authority than them, to doing what you want no matter if it was right or wrong for
the people, these characters truly show what it is to be a woman of power in one way or another.
Characters in both plays display power in innumerable means, and it shows the leadership of women.
John C. Maxwell once said, A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
Women in these plays do what they can to show power, in their each individual ways. In Cocteau s
The Infernal Machine, Oedipus is the main character of the play showing power, but the women in the
play also depict power in additional ways. One example is Jocasta, the mother of Oedipus, with her
title being the first symbol of power since she is known as the queen of Thebes. Although, by the end
of the play Jocasta hangs herself because she did not want to believe her fate but then found out it

Paraganglioma Case Study
Paraganglioma is a rare neoplasm of neuroendocrine origin which may develop at many different
anatomical sites including head and neck, thorax, and abdomen. The occurrence of paraganglioma in
lower spine is rare, but well established as one of the differential. The investigation of choice pre
operatively is magnetic resonance imaging4, which usually shows a very well circumscribed partially
cystic mass which is iso or hypointense to spinal cord on T1 weighted images, and hyperintense on T2
weighted images4. These MRI features are similar to other cauda equine tumors such as
ependymoma2. However sometimes MRI may show serpentine congested ectatic blood vessels with
cap sign (a low intensity signal rim) on T2 weighted images which are considered diagnostic for
paragangliomas2,7.
There have been quite a few instances where paragangliomas, ependymomas, and/or other cauda
equine tumor diagnosis has been difficult to differentiate. In fact the first case of paraganglioma was
published in 1970, even though it was initially thought to be an ependymoma4. Some authors have

Comparing Women In Real Life And Fairy Tales
Comparing The Roles of Women In Real Life and Fairy Tales
How different are the roles of women in real life and in fairy tales? Women have very different roles
in fairy tales than they do in real life. In fairy tales, women can t choose who they marry and they can
t own their own land. In real life women have the choice to own land and marry who they choose. In
some of the fairy tales the role of the women would clean the house and make meals.
In the fairy tale Cinderella, there are two different personalities of women. One is beautiful, kind,

The last fairy tale is Sleeping beauty and it s about how a king and queen have a child and they have

The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Coleridge?s Hidden Journal: ?The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of
the Ancient Mariner? is a piece known to many in some vague way or another. An elderly sailor, a
ghostly ship, and the killing of an albatross are all present in many people?s minds, although they may
not entirely know the whole tale. Although well known today, the most activity ?Rime? has seen was
in its beginnings. It has its fair share of praise and criticism, praise given posthumously and criticism
given while Coleridge was alive. Other than criticisms on the actual text, many people claim that
Coleridge borrowed the ideas of others and used them. One must look past the criticisms and negative
reviews on an author?s work in order to truly understand it. This would aid a reader in realizing ?
Rime? is full of religious truths, subtly illustrating Coleridge?s religious opinions. More than this, ?
Rime? is a hidden pathway to Coleridge?s soul, as it allowed him to relieve grief and pain, illustrate
his hopes and dreams, and express his true feelings about his life and the lives of all. Although Samuel
Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? was criticized by many, it was more than a poem
stuffed with borrowed ideas and stitched together with imagination; rather, it was an outlet for
Coleridge, a therapeutical journal which simultaneously brought entertainment to those of his time and
posterity. William Wordsworth, famous poet and close colleague of

Damning Of The Masses Essay
Damning of the Masses
That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
Romans 10: 9

love God as he loves us.
Edwards also fails to emphasize a major thematic concept of the Bible love. The word love is used in
539 verses of the Bible. In this sermon it is used only four times. Only two of those times directly
refer to Christ s love for us. Edwards seems to have shaded this crucial aspect of salvation.
In the very small section of Edwards sermon that he gives his listeners a way out of being dropped like
a spider into the fiery lake, he fails to give their terror release, still making his message into a threat.
Jesus never threatened. God never finds pleasure in the damning of men s souls. The Lord wishes only
for us to be with him.
I agree with Edwards that if we do not come to Christ and obey His commands that we will spend
eternity in hell, but I also believe that our God is a god of infinite grace and love. This is something
Edwards seems not to have felt or appears to have interpreted in a way that makes God into a spiteful,
jealous god waiting to crush us at any moment. If only Edwards would have realized how crucial
Christ s message of love was to the salvation of his congregation. His powerful invitation of
deliverance would have given people hope and a more

Research Paper On Herodotus
In this section, Herodotus begins by telling the story of how the slaves of Scythia had formed a new
generation with the Scythian women left behind while the Scythians dominated Asia. Herodotus
writes that upon return, the men went to war with the slaves, but stopped, saying when they saw us
armed, they naturally felt that they were as good as we are, and were meeting us on equal terms; but
when they see us coming with whips instead, the will remember they are slaves. Once they admit that,
they will never try to stand up to us (241). This passage reinforces the notion that some people need or
like to be enslaved. Herodotus then describes the land and the people that are to the north and east,

Use Of Isolation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
It is during long periods of isolation that the true character of an individual is revealed. In his text, The
Painted Door , Sinclair Ross reiterates this message through his protagonist, Ann. Her isolations are
depicted in numerous forms, as a physical isolation from other neighbours, a mental isolation, and an
isolation within her marriage. Ross has successfully illustrated the concept of isolation having a
detrimental impact on the human spirit. The setting represents the physical aspect of isolation in the

successful landing on the moon, we decided we wanted more information. This is where Carl Sagan,
Voyager, and the Golden Record all come together for an incredible mission.
Carl Sagan was a brilliant Astronomer and more than likely the most recognized scientists of the
1970s and 1980s. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 9, 1934. Sagan had always been
fascinated by astronomy (Moore). The older he got, the more his interest grew. He graduated high
school at 16 and decided to further his education at the University of Chicago. He conducted
experiments at the University of Chicago that sparked the idea that alien life forms could be real

Examples Of A Relationship Essay
Relationship Advice All you need is love. Relationships are the building blocks of a happy life. Not
taking into account the acquaintances, who you don t know anything about, your friends and loved
ones are the only place you can go to relax and feel at home. Healthy relationships are based on trust,
honesty, listening, knowing each other, valuing the strengths and accepting the differences. A healthy
relationship doesn t mean that it is always sunshine and rainbows. It is built upon the fact that two
people are ready to work through the low times and cherish the good times. Unhealthy relationships
show signs of jealousy, egoistic problems, disrespect, judgment, intimidation and sometimes even
violence. Assessment Start with assessing your relationships. Do ... Show more content on

Ambitious people often cling together. You will never see a hippie having a healthy relationship with a
CEO. Their goals, paths and lives are entirely based on different structures. Do you even have goals?
Don t live a life of aimless existence. Be accountable for your life and live for a purpose. Resolve
conflicts Sometimes all you need to do is work on your differences. No matter how charming two
people find each other, a small conflict can lead to jealousy, hurt and huge misunderstandings which
can lead to suffering in the relationship. Show your dedication towards the relationship and work on
your issues. And afterwards you ll find your relationship was worth more than you had assumed.
Conclusion There is never a perfect person and there is never a perfect relationship. All you can have
is a fulfilling relationship and that ll come from nowhere else but your own heart. Have a big heart and
give your best to the relationship, however cheesy that might sound. After all, real love is not like in
the movies where it s all about romantic dinners, nice music and luxury. It is about will, individuality,
respect, trust and most of all

Teen Pregnancy And Birth Rates
The increase of pregnancy that ranged from 30 percent to 50 percent between 1971 and 1979 was due
to the large increase in premarital sexual activity for young white girls(Kohli, 1995). Studies found an
increase in contraceptive use among sexually active teens from 50 percent to 70 percent users between
1971 through 1979 (Kohli, 1995). This increase in contraceptive use was not enough to outweigh the
increase in premarital sexual activity. This only increased the rate of pregnancies in teenage girls.
There has still been a decrease in actual teenage births as a result of an increasing amount of
pregnancies being terminated from abortions (Kohli, 1995).
According to Clemmit(2010), although there is still a lot of hype surrounding teen pregnancy and birth
rates, teens have been less sexually activity, they have been using contraceptive, and getting fewer
abortions more recently than they did in earlier decades. This shows that the current generation is
using prevention techniques that were previously not being adopted by teens. To illustrate, teen births
and pregnancies have been declining in the United States since the late 1950s. Although that might
sound like the problem has subsided, the teen birth rates remain much higher in the U.S. than in many
other industrialized societies, such as Canada and Western Europe. To illustrate, in 2007, Germany s
rate was about one quarter the U.S. rate, France s was one sixth and the Netherlands one
ninth(Cemmit, 2010).

How did the Persian conquest set the stage for the emergence of the Maurya empire?
The Persian Conquest left Asia without a ruler, this allowed Chandragupta Maurya to exploit the
opportunity and lay down the foundation for the Maurya Empire.

What were five major accomplishments of the emperor Ashoka?
The five major accomplishments of the emperor Ashoka were to conquer Kalinga and bring it under
Mauryan control, communicated his policies throughout his realm by inscribing edicts in natural stone

Its long term impact is that it influenced many beliefs in China up until the nineteenth century.
What was the popular appeal of Buddhism? How does it compare and contrast to Hinduism?
The appeals of Buddhism are that there is less dependence on Brahmins for ritual services, there was
no caste or jati, and it did not demand the rigorous asceticism of Jainism. Buddhism is different from
Hinduism because Buddhists use vernacular tongues instead of Sanskrit. It is similar to Hinduism
because they both believe in reincarnation, originated in india, made people live according to a certain
way (dharma/eightfold path) and they both have the idea of heaven or a spiritual union (nirvana and
moksha).
How did early Buddhism evolve into Mahayana Buddhism? How did that help spread the religion?
Buddhism evolved into Mahayana Buddhism because innovations opened the road to salvation for
large numbers of people. This helped it because education institutes preferred it to the other form of
the religion, thus spreading it efficiently.
How did Hinduism evolve in India during this period?
Three epics of Hinduism, the Mahabharta, Ramayana, and the Bhagavad Gita reinforced the caste
system by emphasizing active life and adherence to caste over the ascetic life. This message opened
Hinduism to common people who are used to the caste system and allowed Hinduism to overtake
Buddhism.
Why did Buddhism eventually lose popularity in

Analysis Of Pinocchio In A Thousand Splendid Sunss
The novel A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini, tells the heartbreaking tale of a woman in
the middle east, the hardships she must face, and the various social dynamics she encounters. The film
Pinocchio is mentioned or alluded to in the beginning and in the end of the novel. The classic 1940 s
film, Pinocchio, details the adventures of a wooden puppet, the creation of an old and lonely
woodworker, for whom the film is titled after who is turned into a real boy by a magical fairy.
Pinocchio must prove his worth in order to fully transition into a human child. Unfortunately, he is
often led astray by his habitual lying, at which point his nose grows, and when he is taken to Pleasure
Island, a land filled with mischievous and immoral young boys, by a manipulative man. In A
Thousand Splendid Suns, the film Pinocchio is symbolic of the main character, Mariam, and her father
s relationship, and it also serves as a milestone to mark the beginning and end of this touching
narrative. The first instance the film is mentioned in the novel, a very young Mariam tells her father,
[for her birthday] I want you to take me to your cinema, I want to see the cartoon. I want to see the
puppet boy. (Hosseini 47). One can imagine the childlike purity of such an innocent request, to fulfill
it would cost nothing, and to deny it would show a severe lack of empathy. Regardless, Nana, Mariam
s mother, replies coldly and ambiguously with That s not a good idea. (47). To this, Jalil,

Trove Character Analysis
How to properly build a character in Trove
Have you ever asked a player on Trove what their power rank is and was astonished by their answer?
Then this is how they got where they are and what you will need to get your character or character up
to the desired level.
The first thing you need to do when it comes to becoming a top Trovain player is to look at what gives
the power to you as the player. There are three big things that make up your characters. The first one is
the level of the character. Having a max level thirty character is one of the first things you need. The
second is to keep your eye on your mastery, each level you add to your mastery you get power rank
added to all your characters. Thus, bringing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another key factor you will notice as you are leveling up your character is you are unlocking gem
slots. This is key to the power rank portion of Trove, and that s why you need to be level 30 because
by doing so you will have unlocked all gem slots and allow you to insert the maximum number of
gems onto that character.
After talking about leveling and gems a little I will go in a little deeper in the matter. To make sure you
can get into the desired portals as you level. Your face, hat, and weapon you should be changing out
with the items you pick up from dungeons if it will give you more power rank. Your end gear type will
be called Stellar gear but you will end up having to buy that from another player using the in game
currency but that will be needed later. So, in the mean time you will focus on what gear you can find
at the end of dungeons. This is also applied to the gems you will get from opening the gem boxes you
receive for completing dungeons. You want to equip the highest power ranked gem which is
commonly received after opening seventy gem boxes.
The prime goal of you leveling and stick on gear is to reach ten thousand power rank and be level
thirty. You should be able to do such by leveling the radiant gems up to level fifteen that you will find
in Uber eight world. Once you get into Uber nine world with your ten thousand power rank then you
will need to change your game play a little on what gems you will equip

Similarities Between Scope And Scope
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007 once said: In a democracy, the
well being, individuality, and happiness of every citizen are important for the overall prosperity, peace,
and happiness of the nation. This quote perfectly explains the two of the most different pieces of
literature. Anthem by Ayn Rand and the movie Rope by Alfred Hitchcock. Anthem is in a dystopia
where the word I was not used nor was Ego . They live in almost the dark ages with no electricity or a
democracy. Everyone works for each other and if you were slightly different from the rest you were
punished. But one man came out of the trance and realized what was happening, that equality and
individuality were nowhere to be found. On the other hand Rope was taken place in the late 40 s. But
Rope was about men who thought because they were superior and rules do not apply to them like
murder. Ayn Rand Anthem and Alfred Hitchcock Rope have very different views of how an individual
should view himself.
Rand believes that individuality is key for a society to work. In her book, she said For the coming of
that day shall I fight, I and my sons and my chosen friends. For the freedom of Man. For his rights.
For his life. For his honor. Rand protagonist just got out of a community where you could not think for
yourself and now he is able to say I without fearing death. Rand was able to show how inequality can
change a person whole understanding of life. Now her protagonist wants more citizens to know this
thing called individuality.
But in the beginning, you had brothers who all thought of each other as equals and if you even liked
someone in the sightless you would be punished. This is an evil thing to say, for it is a transgression,
the great transgression of Preference, to love any among men better than the others, since we must
love all men and all men are our friends this is what a community was for Rand s protagonist. Not
thinking about yourself, but thinking about the good of the group. You grew up with only your
brothers, no dad nor mom. No grandkids or freedom. You did the same thing every day for 7 days a
week. And if you ever made it aware that one brother is your favorite than another

Effect of Staff Nurse Education Intervention on Wound Infections in

virus. According to the Hussain, Mannan, and Ali (2012), sternal and mediastinal infection is a serious

For example, it was one author s experience, when working in a cardiac surgery center in Duhok, Iraq,
that five adult patients who were suffering from sternal wound infections died after open heart surgery.
This is significant because they all died within 1 month. The investigation into the cause showed that
the surgery instruments were not sterilized using the adequate and ideal method. Therefore, staff
nurses in cardiac surgery departments need nursing knowledge so that they can provide safe care that
reduces or eliminates post operative infections. For example, they need instructions about sterilizing
equipment, giving medications, and evaluating patients before, during, and after heart surgery. Nurse
educators are prepared to provide teaching strategies to staff nurses to assure quality care. The purpose
of this proposed quasi experimental study is to investigate whether education for operating room staff
nurses will result in fewer wound infections in adult patients after open heart surgery. Educational
content will include sterilization program, medication program, and nursing care program.
Review of Literature
Wound infections in adult patients after cardiac surgery have been studied. A search was conducted in
three different databases in areas such as in practice, research, and education. The search resulted in

  • 2. Characters Of Sherlock Holmes By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Since the beginning of time, the contradiction between good and evil has been present in all stages of life. Everybody is capable of having good and evil in their lives, is just a great part of what defines a human being. In the books of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, there are many villainous characters that are constantly forcing this detective to go out of his way and offer a more honorable sense of justice. Specifically, Professor Moriarty, as is known as the most mysterious, popular and clever of all the corrupted characters of the novel. Sherlock Holmes is often considered as the other side of the coin, the good to Moriarty s evil, revealing that these two traits can come in any shape or form. Professor James Moriarty, shows up as a malevolent character in many of the fictional Sherlock Holmes stories. Is often overrated, but as a character he is really important, since in different versions of the stories he is the one responsible for Holmes s death. He is portrayed as a criminal mastermind who runs an illegal ring by taking people s secrets as a form of payment so he can then give away some of his protection, and gain what he really desires: power. Starting from the beginning, this frivolous character is like a master puppeteer, he is very intelligent, cunning and he enjoys to manipulate people who feel weak under his command. On the other side, Moriarty is hiding in plain sight, and for him is just a game, more exactly like chess, in where he can move ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Child Prostitution in Asia Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults. There was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the Middle Ages and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered marriageable age. Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the world of adults. However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and childhood is a time for innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was rightly seen as barbaric and archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive adulthood. Physical and emotional abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type of abuse characterized by sexual activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of children leads to abnormal development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to violence and often continuing the chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to commit sexual acts before they are physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a profitable business for perpetrators. Child prostitution is illegal all over the world, but in some countries the laws against child prostitution and the use of underage people for sexual interactions are lax and often go unenforced. The World Congress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Ritzer s Explaination of How to Avoid Mcdonaldization Mr. George Ritzer explain that Mcdonaldization can be avoided, he gave us good explanation the only time he goes to McDonalds is to use the bathroom he also mentioned that if you have to take your kids there blind fold them something that might not sit too well with the American people . But his theory and concept states that it s very hard to avoid Mcdonaldization because it has taken over the American society and has become part of our life s simply what he calls the Iron Cage (http://www.learningace.com) . Through his research which states that by simply neglecting the variety and diversity of consumer practices in different regions and parts of the world and the various uses to which consumers can put McDonaldization, using its products and procedures to serve their own needs. There are many ways Mcdonaldization can be resisted in: social institution, education, the economy, family, as well as religion and military that our society can reverse the effects on the way we live. Take for instance the schools and classrooms across the world. In Virginia Beach the school system are based on the SOL(Standards of Learning) testing that has taken control and prevents our children from getting a good education, this is designed to solely grade the school on how many kids move up to next level it is not the importance of teaching and educating. • 7. General Douglas Macarthur s Duty, Honor Country In the 1960 s, America s intense nationalism was shattered by the horrors brought about by two consecutive World Wars. Thousands of Americans died fighting in what they saw as another man s war, an eastern war. America experienced the pain of war and sought to avoid experiencing it ever again. But the world feared a newer, and more dangerous threat after the great wars: communism. When America s government again wanted to become involved in the other man s war, many young men and their families protested vehemently. When General Douglas MacArthur received an award from Westpoint, his acceptance address, entitled Duty, Honor, Country, morphed into a call to arms to the students, future military leaders, a reminder of the three ideals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knows that, with the memory of the bloodshed and loss of World War Two not far from their minds, many could be reluctant to march to war yet again. But instead of shy away from this fact, he makes this concession to the men, saying that, The soldier, above all others, prays for peace...for he must bear the deepest wounds of war (MacArthur). The General knows that to ignore this sentiment of the soldiers would be to lose their faith entirely. The government was far from eager to leap into conflict again, but believed that fighting against communism wherever it surfaced was crucial to stopping it, and so they played on the nascent fear of Russia in order to justify the wars in Korea and Vietnam (The Cold War Museum). MacArthur relies also on the patriotism of the American soldiers and their pride in their country to push them to fight. He tells the cadets that they, stand as the Nation s war guardian, as its lifeguard from the raging tides of international conflict, as its gladiator in the arena of battle (MacArthur). With American sentiments strong after World War 2, MacArthur trusts that their pride in country and sense of duty will be strong enough to push them into combat. There are people that can easily blackmail, bomb, and kill innocent people for no reason except for making other people feel horrible. I think some villains can easily can relate to how Erik Fisher is so disregarding of others, cruel, and murderous. While there are many things that makes people great villains Erik Fisher must have most of them. Throughout the book Erik is very disregarding to others because he doesn t care about others sadness or pain. Without caring Erik will just steal from people and hit people causing some severe hits. Unlike Erik, Paul tries to help people. Paul was even willing to jump into a sinkhole and pull people out. • 9. Storytelling and Its Relevance Storytelling and its relevance Storytelling is, as a concept, built upon the fundamental question of why. From the dawn of civilization to the marketing activities of a silicon valley technology company, the success of every endeavor in between can be traced to the resolution of this fundamental question. Storytelling is one of the few human traits that are truly universal across culture and through all of known history, writes Jeremy Hsu for Scientific American . Anthropologists find evidence of folktales everywhere in ancient cultures, written in Sanskrit, Latin, Greek, Chinese, Egyptian and Sumerian. People in societies of all types weave narratives, from oral storytellers in hunter gatherer tribes to the millions of writers churning out books, television shows and movies. In his book The Triumph of Narrative, Robert Fulford writes about the historical significance of narratives and their impact on culture through time and generations. When ancient man s crop failed, for example, he wanted to know why. To the non scientific mind, the most compelling explanations arose in the form of religion; crops failed because the gods were unhappy and required tribute. The power of these stories, as mentioned, lies in the fact that on some level in the consciousness of the audience they make sense they resolve the question of why and provide explanation for the happenings around the brain. • 10. A Summary On Private Equity Essay Private Equity Weiwei Zhu FleetCor Deal Summary: As a Managing Director at Summit Partners, I have received an investment proposal of FleetCor deal from the deal team To invest 44.9 million in FleetCor for an ownership position of 46%, in the form of convertible preferred stock with an 8% accruing yield. This memo includes all my concerns for this deal. Good Business Framework: Market Position: Strong FleetCor is one of the largest issuers of commercial fleet fuel purchase cards in the US. Targeting the middle market, it s positioned to achieve leading market share, as most competitors focus on upper end market. Also, FleetCor has advantage of local market distribution. Competitors do not have such cost structure or infrastructure to support an entry into the middle market. Thus, compared to current and potential competitors, FleetCor can be a leader in this market segment. Market Growth market share trends: Very Positive The total market size for commercial FleetCards is 2 billion. And according to Bain market sizing studies, the market of FleetCor can be $500 million, big enough for potential IPO. The market expansion and growth are strong, even stronger with consideration to related services such as roadside assistance. Especially the middle market had undervalued penetration. Card penetration in the upper end market is 75%, while only 25% in the middle market, which indicates a huge space for expansion and growth. Thus, FeetCor is very likely to ... The agreement is comprehensive and involves agriculture, fishery, and forestry goods, apart from maintaining import duties on sugar and export duties on several products. The agreement will go into effect 30 days after the first three endorsements. The Speakers of Ukraine s parliament and the upper branch of the Russian parliament suggested on November 30, 2011, that all CIS members should sanction the FTA in only one day. On December 9, 2011, Russia s First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov stated that CIS countries were getting ready to endorse the 2011 CISFTA. • 14. The, The Infernal Machine, And Ubu Roi By Alfred Jarry In the three plays that we have discussed in class, Antigone by Jean Anouilh, The Infernal Machine by Jean Cocteau, and Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry, there is a prodigious depiction of female characters and power that come in numerous ways. In The Infernal Machine there are female characters, such as Jocasta and the Sphinx, who show power and authority. Likewise, in Antigone, characters, such as Antigone and her sister, Ismene, also show power and supremacy. In Ubu Roi, the main character that showed power through rule was Mere Ubu. From being a woman of authority, to rebelling against men with a greater authority than them, to doing what you want no matter if it was right or wrong for the people, these characters truly show what it is to be a woman of power in one way or another. Characters in both plays display power in innumerable means, and it shows the leadership of women. John C. Maxwell once said, A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Women in these plays do what they can to show power, in their each individual ways. In Cocteau s The Infernal Machine, Oedipus is the main character of the play showing power, but the women in the play also depict power in additional ways. One example is Jocasta, the mother of Oedipus, with her title being the first symbol of power since she is known as the queen of Thebes. The occurrence of paraganglioma in lower spine is rare, but well established as one of the differential. The investigation of choice pre operatively is magnetic resonance imaging4, which usually shows a very well circumscribed partially cystic mass which is iso or hypointense to spinal cord on T1 weighted images, and hyperintense on T2 weighted images4. These MRI features are similar to other cauda equine tumors such as ependymoma2. However sometimes MRI may show serpentine congested ectatic blood vessels with cap sign (a low intensity signal rim) on T2 weighted images which are considered diagnostic for paragangliomas2,7. There have been quite a few instances where paragangliomas, ependymomas, and/or other cauda equine tumor diagnosis has been difficult to differentiate. In fact the first case of paraganglioma was published in 1970, even though it was initially thought to be an ependymoma4. • 18. The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Coleridge?s Hidden Journal: ?The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? is a piece known to many in some vague way or another. An elderly sailor, a ghostly ship, and the killing of an albatross are all present in many people?s minds, although they may not entirely know the whole tale. Although well known today, the most activity ?Rime? has seen was in its beginnings. It has its fair share of praise and criticism, praise given posthumously and criticism given while Coleridge was alive. Other than criticisms on the actual text, many people claim that Coleridge borrowed the ideas of others and used them. One must look past the criticisms and negative reviews on an author?s work in order to truly understand it. This would aid a reader in realizing ? Rime? is full of religious truths, subtly illustrating Coleridge?s religious opinions. More than this, ? Rime? is a hidden pathway to Coleridge?s soul, as it allowed him to relieve grief and pain, illustrate his hopes and dreams, and express his true feelings about his life and the lives of all. Although Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? was criticized by many, it was more than a poem stuffed with borrowed ideas and stitched together with imagination; rather, it was an outlet for Coleridge, a therapeutical journal which simultaneously brought entertainment to those of his time and posterity. Romans 10: 9 From the time we are small children sitting in Sunday school not able to fully grasp the love of God that we sing simple songs about, we are taught that Jesus was sent to earth to love us no matter what. Edwards interprets this fear as trepidation and terror, allowing no room for our souls to Hall 2 love God as he loves us. Edwards also fails to emphasize a major thematic concept of the Bible love. The word love is used in 539 verses of the Bible. In this sermon it is used only four times. Only two of those times directly refer to Christ s love for us. Edwards seems to have shaded this crucial aspect of salvation. In the very small section of Edwards sermon that he gives his listeners a way out of being dropped like a spider into the fiery lake, he fails to give their terror release, still making his message into a threat. Jesus never threatened. God never finds pleasure in the damning of men s souls. The Lord wishes only for us to be with him. I agree with Edwards that if we do not come to Christ and obey His commands that we will spend eternity in hell, but I also believe that our God is a god of infinite grace and love. This is something Edwards seems not to have felt or appears to have interpreted in a way that makes God into a spiteful, jealous god waiting to crush us at any moment. If only Edwards would have realized how crucial Christ s message of love was to the salvation of his congregation. His powerful invitation of deliverance would have given people hope and a more ... • 20. Research Paper On Herodotus In this section, Herodotus begins by telling the story of how the slaves of Scythia had formed a new generation with the Scythian women left behind while the Scythians dominated Asia. Herodotus writes that upon return, the men went to war with the slaves, but stopped, saying when they saw us armed, they naturally felt that they were as good as we are, and were meeting us on equal terms; but when they see us coming with whips instead, the will remember they are slaves. Once they admit that, they will never try to stand up to us (241). This passage reinforces the notion that some people need or like to be enslaved. • 22. Use Of Isolation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross It is during long periods of isolation that the true character of an individual is revealed. In his text, The Painted Door , Sinclair Ross reiterates this message through his protagonist, Ann. Her isolations are depicted in numerous forms, as a physical isolation from other neighbours, a mental isolation, and an isolation within her marriage. Ross has successfully illustrated the concept of isolation having a detrimental impact on the human spirit. • 25. Teen Pregnancy And Birth Rates The increase of pregnancy that ranged from 30 percent to 50 percent between 1971 and 1979 was due to the large increase in premarital sexual activity for young white girls(Kohli, 1995). Studies found an increase in contraceptive use among sexually active teens from 50 percent to 70 percent users between 1971 through 1979 (Kohli, 1995). This increase in contraceptive use was not enough to outweigh the increase in premarital sexual activity. This only increased the rate of pregnancies in teenage girls. There has still been a decrease in actual teenage births as a result of an increasing amount of pregnancies being terminated from abortions (Kohli, 1995). According to Clemmit(2010), although there is still a lot of hype surrounding teen pregnancy and birth rates, teens have been less sexually activity, they have been using contraceptive, and getting fewer abortions more recently than they did in earlier decades. This shows that the current generation is using prevention techniques that were previously not being adopted by teens. To illustrate, teen births and pregnancies have been declining in the United States since the late 1950s. Although that might sound like the problem has subsided, the teen birth rates remain much higher in the U.S. than in many other industrialized societies, such as Canada and Western Europe. To illustrate, in 2007, Germany s rate was about one quarter the U.S. rate, France s was one sixth and the Netherlands one ninth(Cemmit, 2010). The issues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How does it compare and contrast to Hinduism? The appeals of Buddhism are that there is less dependence on Brahmins for ritual services, there was no caste or jati, and it did not demand the rigorous asceticism of Jainism. Buddhism is different from Hinduism because Buddhists use vernacular tongues instead of Sanskrit. It is similar to Hinduism because they both believe in reincarnation, originated in india, made people live according to a certain way (dharma/eightfold path) and they both have the idea of heaven or a spiritual union (nirvana and moksha). How did early Buddhism evolve into Mahayana Buddhism? How did that help spread the religion? Buddhism evolved into Mahayana Buddhism because innovations opened the road to salvation for large numbers of people. This helped it because education institutes preferred it to the other form of the religion, thus spreading it efficiently. How did Hinduism evolve in India during this period? The classic 1940 s film, Pinocchio, details the adventures of a wooden puppet, the creation of an old and lonely woodworker, for whom the film is titled after who is turned into a real boy by a magical fairy. Pinocchio must prove his worth in order to fully transition into a human child. In A Thousand Splendid Suns, the film Pinocchio is symbolic of the main character, Mariam, and her father s relationship, and it also serves as a milestone to mark the beginning and end of this touching narrative. The first instance the film is mentioned in the novel, a very young Mariam tells her father, [for her birthday] I want you to take me to your cinema, I want to see the cartoon. I want to see the puppet boy. (Hosseini 47). One can imagine the childlike purity of such an innocent request, to fulfill it would cost nothing, and to deny it would show a severe lack of empathy. • 30. Similarities Between Scope And Scope A. P. J. Abdul Kalam the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007 once said: In a democracy, the well being, individuality, and happiness of every citizen are important for the overall prosperity, peace, and happiness of the nation. This quote perfectly explains the two of the most different pieces of literature. Anthem by Ayn Rand and the movie Rope by Alfred Hitchcock. Anthem is in a dystopia where the word I was not used nor was Ego . They live in almost the dark ages with no electricity or a democracy. Everyone works for each other and if you were slightly different from the rest you were punished. But one man came out of the trance and realized what was happening, that equality and individuality were nowhere to be found. On the other hand Rope was taken place in the late 40 s. But Rope was about men who thought because they were superior and rules do not apply to them like murder. Ayn Rand Anthem and Alfred Hitchcock Rope have very different views of how an individual should view himself. Rand believes that individuality is key for a society to work. In her book, she said For the coming of that day shall I fight, I and my sons and my chosen friends. For the freedom of Man. For his rights. For his life. For his honor. Rand protagonist just got out of a community where you could not think for yourself and now he is able to say I without fearing death. Rand was able to show how inequality can change a person whole understanding of life. Now her protagonist wants more citizens to know this thing called individuality. But in the beginning, you had brothers who all thought of each other as equals and if you even liked someone in the sightless you would be punished. This is an evil thing to say, for it is a transgression, the great transgression of Preference, to love any among men better than the others, since we must love all men and all men are our friends this is what a community was for Rand s protagonist. Not thinking about yourself, but thinking about the good of the group. You grew up with only your brothers, no dad nor mom. No grandkids or freedom.
