1. The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay
Crafting an essay on "The Epic of Gilgamesh" can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The
epic, one of the earliest known literary works, offers a rich tapestry of themes, characters, and
cultural insights that demand thoughtful exploration. The difficulty lies not only in analyzing the
narrative intricacies but also in delving into the historical and cultural contexts that shape the
epic.
To begin, the complex characters, especially Gilgamesh and Enkidu, require careful examination.
Understanding their motivations, conflicts, and transformations adds layers to the analysis.
Moreover, interpreting the symbolism and allegorical elements embedded in the narrative poses a
significant challenge. The epic's exploration of mortality, friendship, and the quest for meaning
raises profound questions that demand thoughtful engagement.
Beyond the narrative itself, one must grapple with the historical and cultural milieu of ancient
Mesopotamia. Researching the societal norms, religious beliefs, and historical events of that era
becomes integral to providing a comprehensive context for the essay. This additional layer of
complexity adds depth to the analysis but also requires thorough investigation.
The Epic of Gilgamesh also invites comparisons with other mythological and literary works,
necessitating a broad understanding of the literary canon. Drawing connections between
Gilgamesh and archetypal hero narratives or exploring its influence on later works demands a
wide-ranging knowledge base.
In the writing process, striking a balance between analysis and personal interpretation can be
daunting. Expressing insights coherently while maintaining a scholarly tone requires careful
consideration. Additionally, ensuring proper citation of sources and adherence to academic
conventions adds to the challenge.
Despite these difficulties, unraveling the layers of "The Epic of Gilgamesh" offers an
intellectually stimulating experience. The effort invested in deciphering its complexities rewards
the writer with a deeper understanding of ancient literature and human nature.

2. Essay on The Iliad
The Iliad
The work of Homer was very important to the Greek Civilization; it gave the Greek
a structure of personality to follow. It is assure that The Iliad s roots reach far back
before Homer s time. Homer focused several characteristics of how their ancestors
behaved and such behavior was to be passed on to the new generations. In The Iliad,
Homer emphasized the role of the gods in the daily events, and how every
happening was based of the desires of the gods. Homer also focused on the warrior
characteristics, not just of the Argives, but also of the Trojans and how they were
ought to be brave, courageous and show fearlessness in the face of the enemy.

Insinuating that they would have never fought if a god had not gotten involved. As
the question is answered, Apollo the son of Zeus and Leto. Incensed at the king he
swept a fatal plague through the army men were dying and all because Agamemnon
spurned Apollo s priest (Book 1, line 10 12). Here the argument is that because of
one king, Agamemnon (king of Mycenae, Achaeans) fault towards Apollo s priest
caused two civilizations to war against each other. That is in the very beginning of
the poem, suggesting of more divine intervention expected through the text. Most of
the people in the story seem to believe that the gods predetermined most of their
actions. But the will of Zeus will always overpower the will of men, (Book 16, line
805). This is a small constant reference that Homer made throughout the text
pertaining to the ability the gods having control over mortal lives, actions, and
consequences.
The gods were believed to toy with human life, as it was for their pleasure to see
destruction or the complete opposite. In Book 4, Zeus angrily says to Hera
Whenever I am bent on tearing down some city filled with men you love to please
myself never attempt to thwart my fury... (Book 4, line 47 49). It is clear here that
Zeus, supreme god and king of Olympus, states that for enjoyment he is willing to
destroy cities and killed people. There is nothing anyone could do in such situation,
because Zeus

4. Ishmael Beal Book Report
In one particularly disturbing scene, Ishmael and the other child soldiers come
across a village that they have considerable trouble taking from the enemy. They
were running low on ammunition, so instead of wasting the bullets on those men,
they decided to hold them at gunpoint and force them to dig their own graves. The
men dug for a long time, getting more and more tired and fearful, and once the
graves were dug, the soldiers shot the men in the feet so they would fall back into
the graves, and began to shovel dirt onto them. Ishmael recalls that he did not feel
guilty when he could hear them struggling and clawing against the ground on top of
them, and then go still. Ishmael Beah included this scene to not only provide a clear

Standard Written English (SWE) for your answers (i.e., grammar counts). When
Ishmael was young, the elders used to gather all the children to hear a story. They
would tell about a hunter, who came across a monkey in the woods, and had to
decide whether or not to shoot it. To complicate matters, the monkey could speak,
and said if the hunter shot him, his mother would die. If he let him live, his father
would die. Then the elders would pose the unanswerable children: do you shoot the
monkey or let it live? While none of the other children could come up with an
answer, Ishmael had a solution that he kept secret; he would shoot the monkey, so it
would not be able to put anyone else in the situation. The significance to the memoir
here is that Ishmael was put in a situation that seemed to have no clear solutions, just
like the hunter. He struggled with his own kind of monkey, but in the end, what he
sees as important is that no one else is ever put into that situation. Ishmael is
essentially saying that no one else should ever be forced to be a child soldier, and

With the Presidential Election drawing closer to American s everyday, voters have
a choice for President for the next four years. Yet the questions remains as to what
truly drives voters to go to the polls every four years. American s face many issues
in this election; however, the issue I m going to focus on boils down to one simple
thing: EPA Regulation and coal. Coal has been seen as a main source of energy in
multiple states such as Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. During the past

got food from roadside markets lived a bear. This bear was small, almost smaller than

He has been known by people for years because of his cruelty. The bearstole from the

7. Understanding Migraine Headaches
A migraine is a common, chronic, and debilitating neurovascular disorder. It is
characterized by attacks of serve headache along with autonomic nervous system
dysfunction and some patients an aura neurological symptom (Goadsby, Lipton,
Ferrari, 2002). There are two types of migraines classical migraineand common
migraine. Classical migraine is one that either preceded or accompanied by focal
neurological symptoms which are generally visual, this occurs in 15% of patients and
is referred to migraine with aura(Goadsby, Lipton, Ferrari, 2002). Common Migraine
is one that has episodes of head pain that are severe and throbbing and can last 4 to
72 hours. These are migraines without aura and are usually associated with nausea,
vomiting and sensitivity to light, sound or movement (Sorge et al., 1988). When
diagnosed with frequent migraine attacks, doctors try to understand what the cause of
a subject s migraines are which can be due to many variables such as stress, sleep
deprivation or menstruation.
Migraine attacks start at any age but they peak in the early to mid adolescence age.
Migraines rates were observed for a year and the results showed the prevalence of
migraines being 11% overall, 6% among men and 15 18% in women(Stewart WF,
Lipton RB, Celentano DD, Reed ML, 1992). Although prevalence of migraine is
similar in preadolescent boys and girls, when the onset of the menstrual cycle occurs,
it changes. After onset migraine attacks are two to three times higher in

have examined why, in the summer of 1995, the United States finally did take on a

allies confronted a situation that required concerted action. The strategy of muddling

A 60 year old woman with a 10 year history of Type II diabetes presents with
multiple complications including retinopathy, peripheral neuropathy and declining
renal function. She has not had the urge to eat as of recently she feels full after a
few bites. The incidence of nausea and feeling bloated occurs at least twice a day
and even after a glass of water she feels bloated. She also complains of fatigue and
not been able to keep up with daily chores. A radiographic gastric emptying study
shows a prolonged gastric emptying time.
What is the typical diagnosis and how would you ideally treat this patient. What is
the mechanism via which the medication acts? The typical diagnosis for this patient
is gastroparesis. Gastroparesis is a disorder that most commonly affects people with
both type 1 and type 2 diabetes in which the stomach takes too long to empty its
contents (delayed gastric emptying) ( Gastroparesis, 2014, p. 1). Other causes are
gastric surgery with injury to the vagus nerve, medications such as narcotics and
some antidepressants, Parkinson s disease, and multiple sclerosis. This progressive
condition is caused by damage to the vagus nerve, which regulates the digestive
system. The cardinal symptoms include postprandial fullness (early satiety), nausea,
vomiting, and bloating (Camilleri, Bharucha, Farrugia, 2011, p. 5). Other symptoms
include gastroesophageal reflux (acid reflux), abdominal pain, and lack of appetite,
weight loss, and poor glucose control.
10. The Battle Of The Allied Powers During World War II
At a time when the Allied powers had very little success in World War II, the idea
of an amphibious landing was explored thoroughly and determined to be the only
way to get a foothold into Hitler s empire. The invasion was a bloody 3 day
encounter on 5 beaches that resulted in an enormous exchange between Hitler and
the Allies. Because of this, it gave a rise to the power to the Allies in Europe when
D day was victorious. From 1941 1944 the Allies goal was to defeat Germany first.
For many months, the Allies were trying to plan a massive invasion of Northwest
Europe. The initial plan was to trap Germany from both the east and west sides
with the help of the Soviet Union which would make it easier for the Allies to close
in on Hitler. Hitler believed that the Allies were planning an attack somewhere along
the coast of France so he fortified Northwest Europe. The Allies, however, would
have the upper hand because Hitler had no idea where and when the Allies would
strike. The Allies would spend countless hours planning to make this invasion one to
remember. Firstly, exploration of Northwest Europe was essential to find the absolute
perfect location for the attack. Finding this would be very time consuming and there
were many aspects that needed to be accounted for when looking for the right spot to
plan the invasion. Many undercover men went to Northwest Europe and scoped out
numerous beaches, landing sites, and cities to determine what location would be the
spot for the

the domain name to be as similar to the trade name as possible (University of NSW,

used in commerce to distinguish one s product and it s source from other
businesses and their products (Alschuler, Grossman, Stein, and Kahan). A domain
name acts as a company s trademark on line. The problem with domain names is
that domain names are allocated on a first come first served basis, and not according
to whom holds the trademark. Therefore any individual could register the name

brought up, unknowingly, on a reality tv set. Eventually, Truman realises that things
in his world might not quite be as they seem. Truman s world is set in Seahaven
which is depicted as perfect to the outside world. One way in which Seahaven is
perfect is the fact that everyone is friendly and there are no arguments or
discrimination towards anyone. Despite this, an aspect of Seahaven that may make it
less liveable is the constant repetition, everything happens at the same time and same
place every day. Another aspect of Seahaven that makes it unliveable for Truman is
the constant exploitation of his fears, which may be a driving factor in his slow

The main reason that people would describe Truman s world as perfect is due to
the fact that everyone is friendly and welcoming to each other. This is evident
every morning when all of Truman s neighbours yell, Good morning Truman! This
simple statement is something with which people in today s world would
associate with a friendly person. The fact that everybody Truman meets says a
greeting in a friendly tone depicts to the viewer that Seahaven is a perfect town
where everyone is glad to see each other. Another side of Seahaven that leads
people to believe it is perfect is the absence of racism, discrimination and hate. This
just highlights the dichotomy between Truman s world and ours, making it
appealing to every audience. The last aspect of Seahaven that makes it perfect is the
cleanliness. For example, the instant Truman s father breaks into the set in dirty,
ragged clothing he is immediately whisked away by everyday people in neat clothes.
All these things lead the viewer to believe that indeed Seahaven is a utopia although
it would be incredibly hard to live

16. Major Problems Of Urban Transport
3. Major problems of urban transport
Kuala Lumpur is not always considered as a megacity for its scale and population.
However, its urban area and urban population density can be compared to many
metropolitans in the Global North. Being a motor dominated city with high
population density, rapid economy growth, and a rather small scale, Kuala Lumpur is
facing its own problems of urban transport. (1) Kuala Lumpur has one of the lowest
public transport passenger amount levels in Asia due to the rising ownerships and
usage rate of private cars. The recently launched Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2020
revealed that only 20 percent of total Kuala Lumpur passenger movements take place
by public transport while 80 percent by private transport (Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2020, 2004). The public transportation has modern
facilities, but with the poor system and low quality service, therefore, more and
more people are shifting from public transport to private cars and motors. Although
the local government made efforts to introduce rails as public transport in the 1980s,
expecting to slow down the speed of increasing motor vehicles, their popularity
remained (Aldukali et al, 2011). The low efficiency also contributes to the shift. The
buses and metros always arrive late, consuming more time for passengers to travel
from house to work, which in turn further aggravates the low usage rate.
(2) The increasing car ownerships number causes the rising demand

19. Perspective Changes with Age
As a person ages, their perspective on life changes. A person eventually develops the
ability to analyze, understand the importance of lack thereof of things, and not take
offense at all the little things in life. Your perspective also changes through the
dropping of preconceived ideas and by experiencing new situations.
As you age, your ability to analyze a particular situation develops drastically. When
you are young, you think that there is one plain cut, simple, black and white answer,
but as you get older you realize there are many sides to almost everything. Eventually,
people realize that there can be a yes and a no answer to questions and that more than
one person can be right in an argument.
As you get older, you begin to understand the importance or lack thereof of things.
When you are an adolescent, you blow things way out of proportion. Kids act as
though not being invited to the most recent birthday party is the most important
thing. When you are older you realize that it is more important to be financially
secure, have a home and be safe. You also realize that you don t need the latest
model of the iPhone, or other technological device as long as the necessary items
you have work. As you become an adult, you begin to understand that we do not need
to take offense at all the small things in life. A person begins to understand that one
person s negative comment towards them is not all that detrimental to them on a
large scale. If someone says that your
20. Taking a Look at Game Theory
GAME THEORY
Introduction:
Game theory is the study of strategic decision making, cooperation and conflicts. The
concepts appear when the actions of several agents are independent. The agents are
like groups, individuals, firms or any combination of these. These ideology of
provides a language to formulate, structure, analyze, and strategic scenarios.
Specifically, it is the study of mathematical models of conflict and cooperation
between intelligent rational decision makers. This is mainly used in economics,
psychology, logic and biology.
Definitions of games:
The main object in the game theory is the game. It needs a player to play this games.
The regular type of games are decision problem or normal form which are to be
played by the single player.
Games can be described formally by various levels of the details. Coalitional game
or cooperative game is high level, specifying what numbers is given by each
potential group or also it can be obtained by the cooperation of its members. Let us
take an example of parliament where many political parties will be there. But the
party which has the majority of seats in the parliament rules the nation. This type of
games deals with the relative amount of power having with the individual players or
on the division of successful coalitions.
In contrast, Non cooperative game theory is concerned with the analysis of strategic
choices. In this the timing and order play crucial role and are taken into
consideration. For example if a

22. William Shakespeare s The Duchess Of Malfi
John Webster s play The Duchess of Malfi is a Renaissance tragedy. Threats lurk
the widowed Duchess and her forbidden husband Antonio. The Duchess s power
greedy brothers, Ferdinand and The Cardinal forbid her sister to remarry. The play is
an unconventional Renaissance tragedy as the protagonist focuses on a female
character rather than a male. (Pacheco, 2012, p69) This essay focuses on Webster s
use of distinctive features of language.
This passage is important because it displays the violent and tragic scene of the
Duchess s execution and torture. The scene occurs after the Duchess encounters a
theatrical spectacle delivered by her brother Ferdinand, as his way of punishing and
torturing her (Pacheco, 2012, p169) The dramatic function this serves is that it
reveals a violent and painful death to the audience, made all the more shocking and
tragic with her welcoming death and believing, to meet such excellent company/In th
other world. (Webster, 2004, p159) Webster employs dramatic irony at this point as
she thinks Antonio is dead and the audience know this is an act of torture and so this
illustrates the tragedy of the situation.
The extract starts with the Duchess calming Cariola after it is revealed that the
Duchess will be killed and she says, Peace, it affrights not me. (Webster, 2004,
p155) Her response is shocking as death does not affright (Webster, 2012, p155) her
and she is attempting to put Cariola s mind at peace (Webster, 2004, p155) rather than
23. Temporal Processing Paper
Temporal processing relates to the incorporation and integration of diverse acoustic
signals over time. The auditory system works to address the spectral and temporal
modulations of speech, identification of sound location, speech in noise, and other
environmental and auditory stimuli. Temporal processing consists of the ability to
sequence, discriminate, integrate, and mask incoming auditory signals (Shinn, 2003).
The auditory systemrecognizes the location and discrimination of sounds through
communication of neurons in the central ascending auditory pathway. Phase locking
with varying frequency cutoffs based on test subjects affects this coding of signal
(Paolini, FitzGerald, Burkitt, Clark, 2001). Neurons must fire fast and precise in

With the activation of the Kv3.1 potassium channel, these neurons phase locked
precisely to acoustic stimuli presented up to 2000 to 4000 Hz (Song and Kaczmarek,
2006). Regulation of certain potassium channels, both increasing and decreasing the
influx of potassium, relied on the process of sound activated phosphorylation and
sound activated dephosphorylation after the onset of loud noises (Steinert et al.,
2008). Stimulation of Kv3.1a and Kv3.1b channels expressed in the globular bushy
cells of the AVCN and principle neurons of MNTB strongly depended on the process
of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Research focused on the process of
activation with the Kv3.1b channel in adult cells, as the shorter Kv3.1a expressed
greater quantities in embryonic cells (Kaczmarek et al., 2005). Through this process,
the influx of potassium affected the activation of neurons in the ascending auditory

25. How Louisiana Should Improve Funding For Occupational...
In approximately five years since the Deep Water Horizon incident in the Gulf,
expectations for essential changes in safety, access, and preventative measures
designed to capture a potential spill related illnesses should have taken place.
Louisiana should expand funding for Occupational Safety Health (OSHA) in efforts
to prevent future rig explosions. Expand care to assist all Louisianans with getting
care, or create changes in preventative care and treatment measures to combat those
unhealthy trends that have arisen since the spill. However, given specific numbers
and comparisons with other states, Louisianaappears to not be making much if any
progress to gain ground in national rankings. By comparison, Illinoishas increased its
overall health ranking over 9 other states ranking as the 26th healthiest state. The
difference between Louisiana and Illinois however, is the effort both states would
need to create in order to get to that top ranking.
Louisiana and Illinois have 8 core measures that affect their state s overall health
ranking, including: High School Graduation, Infant Mortality, Cancer Deaths,
Children in Poverty, Violent Crimes, and Cardiovascular Deaths. In all of these
measures, Illinois ranks better. Looking closer at three specific ones, Occupational
Fatalities, Obesity, and Lack of Health Insurance can be traced back to issues that
could relate to the Gulf Spill. Occupational Fatalities and increases in OSHA could
help reduce future oil rig
26. The School Voucher Debate Essay
The School Voucher Debate
In the education community, few issues stir up as much debate as the notion of
providing government funded aid, in the form of vouchers, to parents so that they
may send their children to private schools. The voucher movement has been gaining
momentum since Wisconsin implemented the first voucher program in 1990, but only
few states have adopted such programs. Although the courts have upheld the
constitutionality of vouchers, there is still a lack of consensus amongst the public
over the issue. The underlying disagreements that surround the issue of vouchers
revolve around three main controversies: constitutionality, influence on student
achievement, and impact on public schools.
The idea of school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states that Congress shall
make no law respecting an establishment or religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof (Hanus Cookson, 1996). The controversy lies in the interpretation. Do
voucher programs violate the First Amendment by providing public money indirectly
to religious schools?
The first voucher program was put into action in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1990.
The Milwaukee Parental Choice Program offered $2,900 in private school tuition for
children of low income families and in 1995 religious schools were added to the
program (Hadderman, 2002). In June 1998, the Wisconsin State Supreme Court ruled
that the use of public funds to support private parochial schools was not
unconstitutional. The Court also ruled that students did not receive the money
because they were associated with a particular religion, but because the students were
from low income families. The Court also took the position that voucher money went
to parents, not the schools, and therefore the program s purpose, with regards to
religion, was neutral (Good Braden, 2000).
A similar program was adopted in Ohio in 1996. The Cleveland Scholarship and
Tutoring Program targets low income families, allows voucher recipients to attend
religious schools, and provides tutoring assistance. In the academic school year of
1997 1998 vouchers were worth up to $2,250 and were available for 4,000 students in
27. The Problem Of Criminal Behavior Among Juveniles
It is the family that prepares the child for life outside of the home. Certain lifestyles,
such as, conflict either between the parents or between the child and the parent(s)
may lead to a negative ways in the child s actions by fighting, blaming each other and
avoiding responsibilities (Angenent and de Man 1996:95). This is known to lead to
the child becoming involved with gangs in an effort to replace the relationships that
is missing within their family. As this behavior continues and the child becomes more
involved with gangs the less likely they will maintain norms imposed upon them by
their family and instead engage in criminal behavior (Angenent and de Man 1996:97).
Unfortunately, this type of behavior only leads to time spent in juvenile detention.
And sadly among the youths, recidivismcontinues to be a huge problem. One could
only wonder what is in place to help decrease the repetition of criminal behavior
among juveniles? In this research they examined the provision of behavioral health
services to youths detained in Indiana between 2008 and 2012 and the impact of
services on recidivism. For the purpose of the research study, they defined recidivism
as a new arrest charge within 12 months after release from a youth s first detention
stay (Aalsma).
Juvenile detention centers are meant to be short term holding facilities to meet the
physical and behavioral health needs of the child. They are not to provide
rehabilitation or long term treatment to a child.

How far has the importance of Nelson Mandela in the ending of apartheid been
exaggerated? It can be argued that the importance of Nelson Mandela in the ending of
apartheid has been greatly exaggerated. Apartheid ended due to a combination of long
term and short term events. The ANC represented the main opposition of apartheid
while protests and rebellions caught the attention of the world, international sanctions
put pressure on the south African government and something had to be done before
their economy completely fell apart. De Klerk shocked the country when he took the
first step towards abolishing apartheid although, the spark of light and face of
rebellion, Mandela, provided the inspiration to make the end of apartheid possible....

There was considerable labour unrest and strikes were common. There were also
occasional bomb attacks. On the 21st march, in Langa, Cape town. a mass march
to langa police station was organised. The plan was to surrender themselves guilty
of not carrying their passes, and as there were so many of them the police could
not arrest them all. At this time an identical plan was created in sharpville and
turned into what would be known as the sharpville massacre. Due to the event in
sharpville the march was called off and a ban was placed on gatherings. However
later that day protestors gathered again. The police ordered the protesters to
disperse and baton charged them and the protestors retaliated with stones. Langa
was very tense that night as angry protestors barricaded the streets and looted
policemen s homes. The death toll by the end of the day in Langa was three, shot
and killed by white policemen. The sharpville massacre and the langa shootings had
a great impact on apartheid, the damage done was costly and the government had
become ungovernable. Violence caused the protests to be a major factor in the end of
apartheid because it was so costly. The South African government was already in bad

attention of international relations, and frankly, they were appalled. Another factor

29. Rousseau And The Social Contract
Rousseau The Social Contract The Social Contract is a political work written by
Swiss philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau that theorized the best way to establish a
sovereign political community in the face of the problems within a divided
commercial society. The Social Contract helped inspire political reforms or
revolutions in Europe; most notably in France. Furthermore, Rousseau s argument
was against the idea that Monarchs were divinely empowered to legislate; in his
opinion only the people who are sovereign have that all powerful right. Rousseau s
aim in writing The Social Contract is to determine whether there can be a
legitimate political authority, since peoples interaction with government left them
worse off with their freedoms restrained by the society created by their political
leaders. With this stated purpose I believe that Rousseau s ideas are to a great
extent liberal and cry out for the people of this time to take a stand and voice their
will towards a corrupt system of government and gain back their natural freedoms.
Man was born free, and he is everywhere in chains. Those who think themselves the
masters of others are indeed greater slaves than they (Rousseau, pg. 49). With
Rousseau s beginning statements he establishes an unjust link between government
and the people it governs revealing that the natural rights of the people have been
either taken or modified to fit the agendas of men who are slaves to the power they
mandate. These chains that

At the end of the century, the total of the U.S. military and police assistance in the
Hemisphere exceeded the economic and social aid it also provided. This was a
new trend as even during the Cold War the economic aid exceeded the military one.
From 2002 to 2003, the number of Latin American troops trained by U.S.
programmes, mostly stationed in the drug war states , doubled (Chomsky, 2010;
LeoGrande, 2007:357). At the beginning of his mandate, President GW Bush
promised Latin America would be a priority for U.S. foreign policy. The challenge
for the new administration was to set a new relationship that would take into account
the region s economic and social worries and its call for change (LeoGrande, 2007).

According to The March of Dimes (2016) miscarriage, particularly in the first
trimester, has an overall estimated incidence of 10 to 15%. However, the number
could be as high as 50% when taking into account pregnancies which had not yet
been discovered (March of Dimes,
2016). Concern regarding miscarriage is universal yet in women taking an
antidepressant this concern increases as researchers have theorized that its use may
increase the potential for spontaneous abortion. Two large scale studies by Andersen

although a direct correlation between SSRI use and spontaneous abortion was not

PREGNANCY, SSRI USE AND NEONATAL OUTCOMES 8
SSRIs do not seem to be implicated in spontaneous abortion and their role in stillbirth
and postneonatal mortality follows similar lines. The increase in both stillbirth and
postneonatal
mortality found in the studies by Andersen et al., (2014), Jimenez Solem et al., (
2013) Stephansson et al., (2013) are likely attributed to severity of disease and
comorbidity factors such as increased tobacco and alcohol use, elevated BMI, and or
higher maternal age. None of these studies concluded that SSRI use was a causative
factor, but rather focused on depression and the common health risks which often
accompany the diagnosis. Overall, review of the current literature finds no direct
causal relationship between SSRI use and miscarriage, stillbirth or postneonatal
mortality (Andersen et al., Jimenez Solem et al., 2013, Kjaersgaard et al., 2013
Stephansson et al., 2013). This does not eliminate an indirect causal relationship from
malformations such as persistent pulmonary hypertension, anencephaly,
craniosynostosis, or omphalocele.

32. Blood Ph Test Lab Report
Why am I having this test?
Arterial blood gases testing is performed to determine if you have enough oxygen
in your blood. These tests also show whether or not your blood pH is balanced.
Blood pH balance means that your blood is not too acidic (acidosis) and not too
alkaline (alkalosis). A blood pH imbalance may indicate a lung (respiratory),
metabolic, or kidney disorder.
What is being tested?
The tests may include measurements of the following: pH. This is a measure of
hydrogen ion concentration. The pH level indicates the acid base balance of your
blood. With increased amounts of carbon dioxide and other acids, the pH of your
blood decreases. This means that your blood becomes more acidic.

Oxygen saturation. This is the percentage of hemoglobin oxygen saturation. This
refers to how much oxygen is bound to hemoglobin in the red blood cells and
available to be carried through the arteries to nourish the body s cells.
Oxygen content. This is a calculated value that indicates the amount of oxygen in the
blood.
Base excess or deficit. This is a calculated number that represents a sum total of the
metabolic buffering agents (anions) in the blood.
What kind of sample is taken?
A blood sample is required for this test. It is usually collected by inserting a needle
into an artery.
How do I prepare for this test?
There is no preparation or fasting required for this test.
What are the reference ranges?
Reference ranges are considered healthy ranges established after testing a large
group of healthy people. Reference ranges may vary among different people, labs,
and hospitals. It is your responsibility to obtain your test results. Ask the lab or
department performing the test when and how you will get your results.

Abstract
Sending your child to day care is a tough decision to make. Parents most look into
various ideas when picking a day care center. They also must think about what is

are various pros and cons to sending your child to day care and decide if it is right for
your child and family.

Not all daycare centers do this for the parents but they should, to make it easier on the
parents (Shellenbarger, 2000).
When sending your child to a day care center, you should also keep in mind the
requirements of these centers according to Unites States model building codes.
Child day care centers are found in all kinds of areas whether it is a small or large
town or building. Many are commercial ventures but enough are found inside the
homes of your average family. These child day care centers are licensed by most
states and the regulations require approval by the local fire marshal. According to
the model building codes, for it to be considered an education use group day care
center, the center must provide space for more than five people over the age of 2 ВЅ
for less than 24 hours a day. There are many regulations that are going to be found in
a day care center that is up to building code (Corbett, 1998).
Here are some of the things that parents might want to inspect before deciding to
send their child to a specific center. For one thing it should meet the occupant load
that is said to be that there should be 20 square feet per person in the room. Some
states lower this amount when it relates to classrooms for the benefit of the children.
The location of the building is also important to look into before

Just to mention a few, one of them is the Biological factor or genes that can be part of
the cause. Chemicals in the brain, serotonin, and norepinephrine are mainly
responsible of behavior, and a destabilization of one may trigger any disorder. For
example, depression can run in families. Alternatively, the environmental factor such
as family history, and abuses could also active a mental disorder. For instance,
continuous exposure to violence, neglect, abuse, or poverty can expose people to be
susceptible. A mental disorder can affect anyone, even a person who appears to live
in relatively ideal circumstances. Mental disorders are common, but treatments are

some form of talk therapy, but a person with any sign or symptom should firstly
obtain a diagnostic evaluation by a trained professional, be educated about mental
illness, signs, and symptoms, receive supportive counseling about daily life and
strategies for mental disorders management to be monitored closely for conditions
that may require more intensive care, do exercise, change diet, or take vacations are

interesting and critical role; Freedom of speech, Conspiracy, Right of property and
Inside trading.
1.Freedom of Speech
When Martha Stewart was accused the first problem presented was the Media and
how her case was going to be handled. Martha s Stewart lawyer Robert Morvillo

information and announcements of her innocence will create in the future juror s
minds the reasonable doubt needed to find her innocent. The judge immediately

Stars are born, grow old, and die, at rates that are related to their mass and any
external pressures acting on them, similar to the life cycle of all living things in the
universe. The process in which stars change dramatically throughout their existence is
called stellar evolution and can take millions to billions of years. Stellar evolution
describes how stars transform over time, from birth, through life, which includes
growth, and ending in death. Fusion, the force that generates energy, is balanced by
the pull of gravity, resulting in the progression and development of the star.
Stars begin their life cycle as molecular clouds, or nebula. Some event, such as a
shock wave or collision of a galaxy, causes the cloud to collapse and form smaller
pieces, which contract inward and form a protostar. As the star... Show more content

Once the helium in the core is exhausted, the star emits its outer layers into space,
contracts down, and emerges as a White Dwarf. Ultimately, the White Dwarf will
lose all of its energy, collapse due to gravity, and enter a Black Dwarf stage. No Black
Dwarfs have been observed in our universe because the time it takes for a White
Dwarf to cool completely is likely to be trillions of years. A Black Dwarf is simply an
explanation for what would result following the death of a White Dwarf.
In larger stars, the core s temperature increases enough to burn carbon into neon.
Burning and contraction are repeated until iron is established in the core. The
pressure of neutrons will interrupt the collapse of the core, creating a neutron star.
The sudden cease in the contraction of the core allows some of the mass to flow
inward. The core becomes heavier and can t tolerate it s own gravitational force.
This creates a shock wave blowing the outer layer of the star apart in a core collapse
supernova eruption. This explosion results in the distribution of elements throughout

poverty in the family directly influences a decrease in IQ in children. It affects
younger kids causing them to have a harder time picking up verbal skills and

causes them to have a harder time reaching educational milestones. This is mostly due
to the added stress of the surrounding environment, the daily

good at chemistry and was able to work hard and do well in the class, it was not until
I sat in a real medical researchlaboratory that my passion for chemistry began. It
was quite the adjustment for me; the answers to my questions could not be found in
a book. I soon realized that memorizing formulas would not suffice; I needed a way

Brand trust is basically the emotional commitment of the customers with brand.
Marketers are now days very much interested in trust because mostly it is observed
that higher trust ratings are positively related to loyalty (Reast, 2005). Studies
elaborated that trust plays an important role in customer repeated purchase decision
and long term customer satisfaction (Ballester and Aleman, 2001). Brand trust
development is a long term process, a trustworthy brand cares the customer
expectations, fulfill promises and value its customers that eventually leads to brand
trust and reliability (Ballester and Aleman, 2005). Present study is carried out to
gauge the strength of relationship between brand trust and customer loyalty.
Customer Satisfaction: Satisfaction is traditionally considered as an overall
affective response resulting from the use of a product or service (Oliver 1981). It
is believed to have a direct influence on customer loyalty (Mittal and Lassar, 1998;
Oliver, 1997) and repurchase behaviors (Kumar, 2002; Mittal and Kamakura, 2001).
Many agree on a direct affect of satisfaction on loyalty but some other researchers
have focused more on identifying moderators and/or mediators of the effect

Dan Gable: Legend On The Mat amp; In The Coach s Chair
Dan Gable is titled by many as the most legendary amateur American wrestler and
coach in the history of amateur American wrestling. To put into retrospect of Dan s
popularity in the wresting world, Gable is the Michael Jordan of Basketball, the
Pele of Soccer, and the Muhammad Ali of boxing, everyone has heard of Dan
Gable. That is how legendary Dan Gable is. But what single attribute made Mr.
Gable so special and unique? To pinpoint one certain accolade that made Gable a
legend is almost too hard. Dan Gable had an almost normal life growing up as a boy;
he began his fame by his wrestling accolades as an athlete at Iowa State University ...

No one worked harder than Dan Gable. That being said, Gable s work ethic paid
huge dividends on the wrestling mat in college. During Dan Gable s era in college
wrestling, the competitor was only allowed three years of eligibility. Dan took
advantage of every single match he wrestled. He compiled a record of one hundred
and seventeen wins and zero losses going into his finals match of the Division 1
NCAA tournament his senior year. Racking up two NCAA titles in his previous
years. He was on the verge of history, no one in the sport up to that time had even
come close to what Gable accomplished thus far in his career. He wrestled a
competitor named Larry Owings from the University of Washington in the NCAA
finals his senior year. Dan felt the pressure of this match because of the hype and
history he was able to make if he won. Dan was not himself in his final match of his
collegiate career and lost thirteen to eleven against Owings. One of the mind
boggling things for me in my profession and in my life so far has been why, how,
did I ever end up losing that last match in college? I say that because I feel like there
s no way I should ve lost that match, and it shouldn t have happened. But then I look
at what that match did to me, and I m not so sure that I would change that either,
because that match, that loss, probably drove me even though it shouldn t have, a
win should have done it but I don t think

Distinctive voices convey personalities and attitudes by relating to social norms and
defining events of their contemporary culture they are a manifestation of various
views and human experiences. Ray Lawler s play summer of the seventeenth doll is
a modern realist drama, which explores moral standards and social aspects of the
1950s. Essentially, the reader is confronted with unique views concerning the roles of
Australian men and women in the 1950s and their responses to a changing lifestyle.
From a working class status, the characters within the play are faced with traditional
pressures and conventional genderpositions that allows the reader to envision how

Ray Lawler s play, The Summer of the Seventeenth Doll and the poem Eve to her
Daughters by Judith Wright are both primarily concerned with one idea: change.
Whilst Judith Wright uses her poem as an instrument to insight this change, Ray
Lawler uses his play as a critique of modern Australia s resistance to it. Both use
memorable voices associated with gender to make their arguments because the
stagnant philosophy which Australians lived by during the 1950s and 1960s was
inherently masculine in nature. In essence, both texts endeavour to change

The older IRA members wanted to use non violent civil disobedience, while the
younger provisional members became armed and militant. But this reaction was
not un provoked. Curfews on nationalists were enforced with gunfire, torture was
used in interrogations, and internment without trial was used on detainees, many
of whom were not involved in the conflict but went on to become Republicans as a
result of their experience. The British army shot 26 unarmed civil rights
demonstrators killing 14, on what was to be called Bloody Sunday , January 30,
1972. This event increased the status of and recruitment into the IRA. This event
also made clear which side the British supported. The provisional IRA responded
by killing up to 100 soldiers and carried out approximately 1300 bombings on
mostly commercial targets. Even the Official IRA killed dozens of soldiers and
began a bombing campaign of their own. Again, loyalist para militaries responded
with assassinations that included torture and forced displacement of Catholics AND
protestants from mixed neighborhoods. After many shootings and bombings against
both sides the 1970s saw the bloodiest part of the Troubles. The official IRA called
a permanent ceasefire in 1972. While the Provisional IRA continued to wage violence
in the hope of British withdraw from Northern Ireland, their war could not be

insurgency, which was less intense but could continue

Duchess
The men in both Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess, specifically the unnamed
lover and the unnamed Duke, are very controlling, self important men. They both
clearly view themselves as god like even though they never implicitly call
themselves gods. The narrator of Porphyria s Lover tells us that she was
murmuring how she loved [him] (21) and that she wanted to give herself to him
forever (25); however, rather than think Porphyria loved him like a man, the
narrator believes she worshipped (33) him like a god. Like a god he heard (57) and
fulfilled her darling one wish (57), although murder, his method of granting this
wish, was probably not what Porphyria actually desired. The narrator even boasts
that God has said not a word

were founded in 1792. They had two different views on the constitution and how it
should be interpreted. The Federalists wanted the constitution to be interpreted
loosely, while the Democratic Republicans believed the constitution needed to be
followed very strictly, almost word for word. There were many other differences
between the two parties, but one of the main ones was the way each of them
interpreted the constitution.
The two political parties views were different. Alexander Hamilton s party saw the

51. Conflicts Of Power In King Of The Bingo Game By Ralph
Ellison
The chillingly strange fiction, King of the Bingo Game by Ralph Ellison explores
how the unnamed protagonist has difficulties determining the differences between
reality and his unreal fate. The unnamed protagonist circulates the madness and
obsession for power throughout his veins that he is receiving from the spinning
bingo wheel. In the beginning of the story, Ellison condemns the way the unnamed
protagonist struggles to find hope from his own society, where he cannot even
have an identity of his own, and deals with developing racial conflicts. In the
middle of the story King of the Bingo Game , Ellison depicts a powerless
protagonist allowing a reflection on conflicts between the Black and White. Using
Ellison s writing fluency, the story deepens the empathy toward the outcasted
individuals and easily projects the messages that Blacks in Harlem can only have the
power when they are close to death. One of the key factors that Ellison defines in the
King of the Bingo Game is differences between the Black society of the north and
south; Ellison develops a society where a person holds the feeling of not fitting in. In
the short story, the unnamed protagonist defines the lives of the southern Blacks in
the northern United States. In fact, the unnamed protagonist contrasts where he used
to stay in North Carolina with Harlem: Folks down South stuck together that way;
they didn t even have to know you. But up here it was different. Ask somebody for
something, and

53. Overview of the War of the Rif
The Rif Army
The war of the Rif, also known as the second Moroccan War, was fought from 1920
to 1926. Spain, France and the Moroccan Berbers, of the Rif s mountain region, had
joined forces to take control and divide the country of Morocco into even parts. The
reason behind this was because they wanted power, like most imperializing countries
strive for. What the invading force did not know was that this was not going to be an
easy task.
The Rifs, the indigenous tribes of Morocco had joined forces to fight this super
power using guerrilla warfare that devastated the Spanish and French forces. Led by
Abd al Karim, the Rifs defeated the Spanish on their initial invasion and took control
of large amounts of European weapons (Pletcher, ... Show more content on

Although the Spanish army had more than 140,000 soldiers on ground, they were no
match for the highly skilled Rifian army. Eventually the Spanish reservists had to call
for assistance from the Spanish army of Africa to aid them in this conflict. The
Spanish army began to train with the French army on combat tactics and procedures
in which they eventually adopted, thus the Spanish Legion was established in 1920
under the command of General Francisco Franco. As their numbers grew larger, so
did their reputation for being extremely ruthless, as they led a large number of
offensive operations, ravaging and devastating the country of Morocco.
The War
During the course of the war, the Spanish army in northern Morocco was defeated
by the Rif army in July of 1921. This day is now known as the Disaster of Annual .
8,000 soldiers and officers were reported killed in action or had disappeared out of
an initial total of 20,000 soldiers. The Spanish were starting to be pushed back over
the following five years due to the evolving tactics that the Rif army was using
against Spain. As the Rif army pushed east, they had captured over 130 Spanish
military forts. Towards the end of 1921, Spain had lost all of the territory they had
gained during the initial invasion in 1909. The remaining 14,000 Spanish soldiers
fell back to one of the last remaining forts in eastern Morocco Melilla which
happened to be their largest military fort in
54. Repeated Suspension From School
Students who are disruptive, truant, or disobedient should not be suspended from
school because suspension is counterintuitive: Siegel (2015) identifies there is a
correlation between juvenile delinquency and school absences, while the lecture
notes (2016) reveal that students who graduate have less instances of criminality in
later life. These two sources show that the more students remain in school, the less
chance they will have of exhibiting delinquent behavior. Suspending a student from
school as a form of discipline effectively removes the student from the school system.
As repeated suspensions can result in expulsion, which would remove a student from
school entirely, suspension as a form of discipline creates a system where students
who become suspended will often be unsupervised and therefore more likely to
engage in delinquent behavior. If truancy is the reason a suspension is administered,
then releasing the student from further school obligations during the suspended time
may even seem rewarding to the student, who was originally attempting to skip
attendance in the first place.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a student is suspended, he or she may not have any supervision while at home
because his or parents may be working at the time. Thus, this places an inconvenient
burden on parents to find adequate supervision for their suspended child. If this
burden is financial, and parents cannot afford to find adequate supervision for the
suspended child, then the child will simply be unsupervised during the suspension.
However, Siegel identifies that one of the contributing factors to delinquency is a
lack of parental supervision (2015), so suspending a student may actually encourage
delinquent
55. Women Of The New Zealand Essay
Women make up 51% of the New Zealand population, however, women in New
Zealand parliament only make up just over 30% in parliament (2014). For women to
be represented in parliament, it means that women need to be seen as a norm in
government, and therefore all positions of power. This under representation can be
linked to factors such as the environment and the culture of the New Zealand
parliament and political parties. It is important to note that women are not a
homogenous group; and we have to include ethnicity and class, which links into
opportunity. This gender gap in parliament has caused societal issues to be silenced
and minority groups to be left out of decision making and therefore society.
New Zealand was the first country to give women the right to vote in 1893, however,
since then we have dropped to 27th when it comes to gender representation in
government, out of 188 countries. One of the many reasons as to why women are
under represented in parliament can be linked to the issue of the political obstacles
that face women. This is when they want to be in parliament, women whom are in
parliament, and the many women who this is not an option for due to lack of
opportunity. Women have to face this masculine model of politics and government.
Men are dominant in parliament, meaning that political life revolves around male
norms and values (Shvedova). This can be extended, politics is very much about
competition and confrontation. Rather than politics being
56. Different Approaches For A Infertile Couples
Different Approaches Used to Treat Infertile Couples Research on applicability of
specific models of couple therapy for couples facing issues around infertility and
treatment is limited because of the array of psychological and interpersonal problems
the couples face. One approach researched is cognitive behavioral marital therapy
(CBMT). According to theorists of cognitive behavior, change in behaviors within a
couple arises through marital distress (Myers Wark, 1996). The behaviors occur
disproportionately damaging to the relationship when compared to the benefit of the
behavior (Myers Wark, 1996). The applicability of this model in addressing problems
related to infertility experienced by couplescan address a broad range of issues:
individual response to unconscious thoughts, and self evaluation and perceptions,
sexual dysfunction, and function of communication in a marital relationship (Myers
Wark, 1996). An argument against the use of CBMT in working with couples with
issues of infertility is that the focus on behavior of the approach lacks sympathy. For
this particular population of couples, the approach may not be perceived as suitable
to meet their needs in struggling with an emotionally charged issue (Myers Wark,
1996). Other approaches used to address infertility issues couples face include
national organizations. One such organization is RESOLVE: The National Infertility
Association which provides a variety of supports to couples and families. They
