System And Surroundings Lab Report
Intro ERT
Chemical changes occur when molecules in the reactants break and form new compounds called the
products. The separation of the bonds in the reactants require a certain amount of energy whereas
energy is released when products are formed. There are two components where a physical or chemical
change takes place. These are the system and surroundings.
System and Surroundings
The system is the site of the chemical reaction and the surrounding is the entire universe around it.
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be crated or destroyed although one form of
energy can be converted to the other form and vice versa . (Dinesh Books) Since energy cannot be
created by any means, it simply transfers between the system and surroundings. Furthermore, since

Firstly, 10 grams of the desired chemical was weighed out. This was then placed in a sandwich bag.
The sandwich bag was aimed to act as a calorimeter for two reasons. Firstly, a calorimeter would limit
heat and volume exchange between system and surroundings and also depict the scenario of a real ice
pack.
15,20 and 25 ml of water were measured into a smaller beaker.
The initial temperature of the water was recorded with a thermometer so a change in temperature
could be determined. This probe was then placed in the sandwich bag while sealed to observe the
temperature inside the assumed calorimeter.
Once both temperatures were recorded, the probe was carefully inserted into the sandwich bag. The
bag was then sealed except for a little space to pour the water.
The water was poured in through the gap and the bag was sealed immediately. The timer was started at
the time the water was poured in.
The independent variables were measured along with the time of the total reaction and noted down for
further observation and analysis.
The procedure was repeated with the different amounts of water and the different chemicals indicated

Mass Media Bias And Its Effect On The Media
Having control over an entire country s population s opinion is a powerful thing to have. Possessing
that control would allow you to direct how the population spends their money or even who they like
and dislike in politics. The mainstream media news outlets have this control and are expected to give
us information that is unbiased, fair, and not meant to sway our opinion. The topic I will be exploring
is bias in the mainstream news media and how it effects their viewers. This is an important topic in the
field of communication because it has such a great impact on any country that uses mass media to
disseminate information. The information can be given to the viewers with a certain twist to
intentionally shape their view of an event, or it can be unintentionally bias just by the tone and manner
they are reporting on the event. I am going to research how mass media news outlets influence the
viewers opinion, and what goes in to picking the news stories covered. These are controversial topics
to get into, but important to consider. They can have a very big impact on things like elections for a
political office, support or dislike of a certain group, or can sway your opinion of who is the hero in a
certain story. My sources will need to show specific examples of how the media is biased towards one
opinion, what the effects are from this are, and who makes the determines the bias that is being
displayed.

Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John Dryden
Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden himself which features
the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical aspects of the Popish plot to light. George
Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham, was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes
of the couplets involving George even states that the section on George was The least political of the
satirical portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes, was
not fit to be a leader in the Popish plot was an extreme understatement as he painted an
overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable of making an impact in the
Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in the process of painting this satirical imagery,
also uses George as an example of showing consequentialism in action.
In Absalom and Achitophel Dryden begins with writing how George Villier only positive credential of
being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials
lack in uniqueness when compared to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier
became a chief of the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). Ironically,
however, this is followed up by Dryden describing him as A man so various, that he seemed to be /
Not one, but all mankind s epitome (545 546). Claiming him to be a chief in this context is ironic in

Grand Nursing Theory Paper
From the beginning of time, great emphasis has been placed on a need for care due to illness and
disease. In the past, medical knowledge in nursing guided and provided the greatest direction for
practice. It was not until the 1960 s when Dr. Madeleine Leininger felt there was a need of shift from
biomedicine toward integrating culturally sensitive care within the profession of nursing. The goal of
the theory has been to use research findings to provide culture specific care that would be culturally
congruent, safe, and beneficial to people of diverse or similar cultures for their health, wellbeing, and
healing, and to help face disability and death (McFarland, Wehbe Alamah, 2015, p. 6). Utilizing the
seven chosen criteria listed in Willis (2002, pp.119 122) Overview of Grand Nursing Theories,
including the contemporary social, political, and economic realities, I will be describing and analyzing
Madeleine M. Leininger s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality. I will also discuss how
Leininger s theory guides my personal practice, potential barriers that may arise while using this
theory, and strategies to facilitate the use of the theory.
Analysis
Background of the theorist
Madeleine Leininger worked as a clinical child nurse specialist after obtaining her undergraduate
nursing based degree and master s degree (Parker, 2006, p. 309). Her theoretical perspective arose
from observations she made during her time spent with children from diverse cultural

Pros And Cons Of American Psycho
Just in the U.S. there are thousands of books that are banned or censored and every year there are
hundreds more that get banned or censored. American Psycho is a book published in 1991 by Bret
Easton Ellis which is heavily censored. This book cannot even be sold to anyone under 18 and must be
wrapped in plastic. This fictional book was written for adults that like black comedy and the thrill of a
gruesome and violent book. American Psycho is a book about a murderous rich man that is censored
for a few very good reasons but still should be able to be bought and sold by the public.
American Psycho all starts in New York City where the main character, Patrick Bateman lives. Patrick
is a rich man that focuses on money, how he dresses, and drugs. One day as he was walking down the
street he saw his first victim. Bateman spots him sitting on the sidewalk and stops to taunt him, calling
him worthless and disgusting and asking why he doesn t simply get a job. Al begins to cry, and then
Bateman suddenly stabs him in the eye (Mauriello, American Psycho Summary). After his first victim
was finally dead he just got worse. Soon after he murders his ex girlfriend Bethany after getting her
drunk at lunch and even stabs a young child to death in a public park (Mauriello, American Psycho
Summary). Bateman s killings just keep getting and as it does his drug addiction also gets worse. After
kidnapping, raping and torturing his victims he ends up hiding in his office from the police. He

Marine Marcoalgaes Lab Report
Photosynthesis of marine marcoalgaes split into 2 processes; light reaction (photochemical reaction
which is affected by concentration of the chlorophyll and irradiance) and the dark reaction (chemical
process, where temperature and concentration of the substrate influence on). However between those
two reactions, there is an intermediates metabolic process, where NADPH and ATP are produced. The
amount of produced NADPH and ATP depends upon light limitation, which later results of dark
reaction sufficiency. In photosynthesis pigments function is to absorb the light energy as photons.
They are localized in the light harvesting antenna protein pigment (LHC) in thylakoid membraines of
the chloroplast. (Dring, 1992) Bladders wrack contain wide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hence most of the energy which was previously absorbed by accessory pigments is actually transfer to
chlorophyll a. This transfer is possible due to a fact that chlorophyll a among all other pigments have
the possibility to absorb at the longest wavelength. Moreover its excitation cost less energy. However
chlorophyll a can be divided into different forms, which depends upon changes of the maximal
wavelength absorption, which range between 662 and 700 nm. This segregation system allows the
transfer from the short wavelength to long wavelength and appears as a two distinct systems, which
are the photosystem I (PI) and photosystem II (PII). The organization of the systems present as: PI
contains the chlorophyll a longest wavelength absorption type, while PII also contain the chlorophyll
a, but a short wavelength absorption type and additionally the accessory pigments. In the each of the
reactive center there is an energy trap, therefore PI with single molecule of a chlorophyll a with
absorption of 700 nm will have a P700 trap, where PII will result with P 680 690 trap where the
absorption wavelength by different form of chlorophyll a and accessory pigments is shorter. (Dring

A Class to Remember
Engineering is frustrating. It consumes so much of my energy that I cannot carve a smile on my face
anymore. I am so tired. I feel like it is 10000000000000000 miles to walk from Sweeney to the East
Hall. However, whenever I first step into the class, the first thing I will look for is what hat is going to
be on Mr. Driscoll s head. There are all cute and smart hats! I laugh every single time I look at his
funny hats. Oh, I have a tagline for this class! A hat a day, keeps the stress away. Ah, I am going to
miss his hats, I swear.
Time flies so fast. Spring is about coming to the end. I am definitely not the same person today as I
was yesterday. Everything has changed; hopefully in a good way. Yes, I make mistakes, I reflect, and I
become wiser at the end. In this essay, I am going to write some reflections that drive me to become a
better writer.
During the process of drafting a paper, one of the things I have in mind is my audience. In order to
write a good paper, it is crucial to consider the audience so you can identify how you are going to
write it. For example, if you are going to write letter to your brother, it will sound weird if you use
formal language. Same goes if you are writing to the Obama; it will definitely sound weird if you
greet him like, how is it going, bro? It is way too informal and you cannot do this if you are writing to
your leader. What I am trying to say here is it is your audience that will determine the style of your
writing.

The Veldt Summary
In The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, the parents, George and Lydia are at fault for their own death because
they didn t decrease the screen time for their kids Wendy, and Peter earlier in their lives. Which could
have gotten them addicted over time. I also found this website named Limiting screen time for kids.
And that website tells me that as a child grows a parent will need to decide how much media to let
your child use each day, also, what websites are appropriate for them. In the story it states that the
children were sobbing and screaming when their parents took away their technology, this caused the
kids to get mad. This other website Technology Addiction states that Technology addiction, sometimes
called internet addiction, or Internet Use Disorder is a fairly new phenomenon in the world. Peter told
his dad to call a psychologist to fix the nursery room when they don t need it. Usually kids don t call a
psychiatrist so this proves that the kids were addicted to technology.
Then there s this source I found called The impact of technology. This website tells me that a mere 20
years ago, children used to play outside all day, riding bikes, playing sports and building forts. ...

and generally clueless. Also, in The Veldt one of the kids say I wish you were dead! Which is really

Information Systems for Human Resources Management
Information is an essential tool for managers in the retention, recruitment, utilization and evaluation of
human resources in health services organizations. Since they support the goals and objectives of the
organization, information systems play an important role in planning and management of human
resources. These systems will serve as an important personnel administration operational programs,

The system will become an action tool to help lead the organization toward transforming and
redesigning the health care within the community.
Human resources planning and allocation are critical links between the human resources strategy plan
and the organizational business plan. Assessing the future needs will require information about current
employee levels and their skills, along with projections of patient needs. Another requirement are
analytical tools for asking the what if questions when exploring alternative service strategies.
The health care organization will utilize the computerization within its function to experience a
number of strategic advantages. The three advantages are;
• HRIS enables the hospital s human resource department to make a more active role in
organizational planning. Computerization will make forecasting more timely, cost effective, and
efficient.
• Integration and storage in a single database all of the human resources information
• HRIS will accelerate the process of comparing costs and benefits of human resources activities.
The need for analysis, collection and management of human resources information has outpaced the
development of human resources information systems in many health care organizations.

Essay On European Exploration
During the early fifteenth century, Europeans began exploring through the Indian Ocean and to other
continents. An era caused with no initial intention, European exploration caused many changes
throughout both American and European civilizations. The desire to test human capability, obtain

How Does Golding Use Symbols In Lord Of The Flies
Symbolism in The Lord of The Flies
It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the
symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something more
than its literal meaning (Telgen 15) From butterflies to actual characters, you could sense that this
book contained symbolism. Although Lord of the Flies appears on the surface to be a mere story about
children abandoned on an island, William Golding uses symbolism to convey a deeper meaning.
This novel had many accounts of symbolism. It also captured the keen interest of their instructors in
debating the merits and defeats of different characters and the hunting down of literary sources and
deeper symbolic meanings in the story (Telgen 2). Most of the events, characters, and objects had
symbolic meanings. His narrative style has an unusual lucidity and vitality because he never forgets
the concrete in his search for symbolic action (Cox 2). Golding consistently looked for ways to add
symbols in his novel. Many critics pointed out how much this story was symbolic. A story so
explicitly symbolic as this might easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Qhetorical Analysis Of Isabella Bird s Lake Tahoe
Journalist, Isabella Bird, in her journal, Lake Tahoe, expresses her feelings about Lake Tahoe and the
journey there. Bird s purpose is to outline her trip and journey to Lake Tahoe. She adopts a nostalgic
tone in order to express her feelings to her readers.
Bird opens her journal, on September second, by describing what Lake Tahoe looks like in her eyes. It
was not lovable, like the Sandwich Islands, but beautiful in it s own way! she is saying that Lake
Tahoe is not beautiful in looks however, it is more beautiful than what meets the eye. Lake Tahoe is
before me, a sheet of water twenty two miles long by ten broad, and in some places 1,700 feet deep. It
lies at a height of 6,000 feet and the snow crowned summits which wall it in are from 8,000 to 11,000
feet in altitude. The air is keen and elastic. There is no sound but the distant and slightly musical ring
of the lumberman s axe. She is describing how Lake Tahoe looks and the atmosphere. Bird is
describing her emotions about Lake Tahoe by using diction with the words keen and elastic when
describing the air.
Shifting to the journey to Lake Tahoe Bird uses comparison by using details that describe what she
sees on her journey to Lake Tahoe. driving to the Oakland ferry through streets with side walks heaped
with thousands of cantaloupe and water melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes, pears, grapes,
peaches, apricots all of startling size as compared with any I ever saw before. Other streets were piled

Financial institutions have always recognized the importance of safeguarding customer data.
However, the impact of data compromise has increased substantially as identities have migrated from
visual to digital. Scenarios like the ones mentioned above have become significant due to never before
seen levels of regulatory fines and litigation expenses.
The New Basel Capital Accord (Basel II) requires financial institutions to develop a comprehensive
loss distribution so that they can more accurately estimate their risk profile and reserve requirements.
In particular, Basel II adds operational risk to the traditional categories of credit risk and market risk
that are currently used to estimate capital requirements.
2 Addressing Operational Risk
By including operational risk in the calculation metrics for the New Capital Accord, Basel II has
recognized that credit and market risks are not the only exposures that a bank may face. The
complexity of calculating operational risk is, however, compounded by the fact that the internal loss
history of a financial institution does not adequately account for all the operational risks and exposures
faced by that institution.
To augment internal experiential data, Basel II recommends that financial institutions look to external
events and scenarios. External loss data cannot be readily used in capital calculations due to the
inherent shortcomings of the reliability of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are thin custom made shells designed to cover the front surface of the teeth, improving
your appearance and enhancing your smile by altering the colour, shape, size and length of your teeth.
Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or resin composite material. Although porcelain veneers
are stain resistant and makes the teeth appear brighter, resin veneers are thinner and require less
removal of the natural tooth surface before placement
Veneers are generally used to fix teeth that are discoloured, have gaps, are chipped and broken, are
misaligned, irregularly shaped, or have merely been worn down. These tooth imperfections can arise
from a variety of different reasons, such as: beverage intake (alcohol and caffeine are known causes of
staining) and unhealthy lifestyles (smoking, drug addictions and poor oral hygiene are the main causes
of tooth imperfection).

What Does The Lamb And The Tyger Mean
The Lamb and the Tyger with innocence, religion, and coming of age.
On the surface the Lamb and the Tyger seem to be two separate poems with two separate meanings.
But in reality these two poems are connected and share a similar message. While they are together and
have sort of hidden meanings they also can tell the same story, just different parts. Examining closer
you can see concepts of creation, ageing, and art The lamb is of course a child and the lamb are a
representation of a child s wonder. The child asks the lamb who made it. This represents a childlike
wonder that every child experiences, but the fact that the child has a simple and sure answer shows
that the child does not question many aspects of the world around them. As a child ... Show more

Both the poems represent the different aspects of god. The Tyger is mentioned mentioned as shining
bright but as the poem progresses it tells us that the Tyger is very dangerous and when you compare
the Lamb and the Tyger it seems as though they as say, if god could create something as sweet and
pure as a lamb then why would he create something as destructive as a Tyger. This is why the Tyger is
paired with fire in the poem. The fire is a destructive force that everyone fears. The fire is also very
powerful. This is why the Tyger was made in the furnace, because just like the fire the Tyger is fierce
and dangerous. The person reading the poem even seems confused and even a little tramaised at the
Tyger, asking themselves, oh what chain and oh what hammer . The speaking is distraught wondering
why the Tyger even exists, because it is so deadly. It is hear where the child in the Lamb is grown. The
child went from being very innocent and having the answer of creation to having nothing but
questions, asking who made this Tyger. With this we can assume that the author intended for the child
in the Lamb and the adult in the Tyger to be the same character in different stages of their

airflow plateauing with increased surfactant. The more surfactant you added, there was increase in
airflow. It cannot be stressed enough how important surfactant is in the lungs. Without surfactant,
there are intricacies like alveoli collapsing, not enough airflow, and diseases for instance

Many firefighters experience these types of symptoms when battling furious fires. The smoke and

why in the news firefighters are reported suffering from smoke inhalation. They experience collapsed
alveoli and struggle breathing. It is also important to mention the complication that come along with
pneumothorax, and serious condition that involves aire between the lungs and intercostal muscles. We
know that when we breathe air flows down the trachea, into the bronchi, and spread throughout the

Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay
Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout the
years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments. However,
some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The price to
earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity securities, has
decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the previous year, while their
earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the current year where it decreased
minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their expectations of the company. Another
commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which eliminates the manipulation that is possible
with net income that is used in the price to earnings ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus
also indicating a lessening in expectations in the market. The company has had adequate profitability
over the previous years that have helped investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The
basic earnings per share and the diluted earnings per share have both increased over the last four
years, but both decreased ever so slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is
most likely due to the considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting

Analysis Of Total Eclipse By Annie Dillard
Description Essay Total Eclipse By Annie Dillard
Annie Dillard s Total Eclipse depicts her own existential crisis while watching the 1979 solar eclipse.
Using metaphors and Stream of Consciousness Writing she details her own dissociative hallucination.
She begins her work by describing her morning, comparing it to an avalanche, It had been like dying,
She wrote. that sliding down the mountain pass. It had been like the death of someone, irrational, that
sliding down the mountain pass and into the region of dread. IT was like slipping into fever, or falling
down that hole in sleep from which you wake yourself whimpering. Setting the tone for the essay,
death and irrational thoughts filling her mind as it unfolds around her. She compares the avalanche to
death, foreshadowing her own avalanche, an avalanche of the mind. Her own avalanche happens while
she is standing outside on a mountain, watching the eclipse with her husband. She slips into a
dissociative delusion, writing, I looked at Gary; He was in the film. Everything was lost, He was a
platinum print, a dead artist s version of life. I saw on his skull the darkness of night mixed with the
colors of day. My mind was going out; my eyes where receding the way galaxies recede to the rim of
space. Gary was light years away, gesturing inside a circle of darkness, down the wring end of a
telescope. He smiled as if he saw me; the stringy crinkles around his eyes moved. The sight of him,

White Privilege In American Culture
White privilege is something that many people take for granted in North America, and Europe;
predominantly Caucasian continents. Even though people are becoming more aware of this social
advantage that a lack of melanin can bring, there are also people who still believe that they are more
superior. Whether consciously, or subconsciously it happens in most places. Even in countries such as
mine like Pakistan there isn t white privilege per say, but there is pale privilege. The paler you are the
more likely you are to get a good job, a good spouse, and a good life. That is just how it goes. We need
this issue to become prevalent in way that white privilege will not be a thing. It will just be human
privilege, so that all of us can count as one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people of European decent are made to realize the reason that they can live the kind of life
made possible by their skin colour, and ancestors they find it embarrassing. They feel ashamed that
their ancestors did something like that, and will apologize. However, there are also many people that
will become defensive. They will become insistent on the fact that it was not them that did it. It was
their ancestors, so why should they feel guilty about anything. They are generally also the same
people that will do things that are considered cultural, and religious appropriation. Such as wearing a
native headpiece, or trying to use the n word. They do not see the privilege that they set up for
themselves. Many times as a kid when I wore henna to school for my religious holidays kids would
call me dirty, and gross. Yet, once a white girl came to class having gotten the henna done also, and
the kids told her how pretty it looked, and they wanted to get it done too. Or how in the media when
white people have dreads or corn rows it is considered to be chic , and urban but in many schools in
America children are not allowed to have that hairstyle because it is not deemed appropriate for
school. It is wrong to encourage someone to do something because of their skin tone when the person

Biblical Worldview Of The World
Introduction/Thesis The first 11 chapters of Genesis prove to be an excellent resource in
supplementing or even establishing a Christian s biblical worldview. Foundations for a biblical
worldview are seen throughout these chapters specifically in regards to the natural world, human
identity, human relationships, and culture. A biblical worldview in these areas is vastly contrary to the
same worldviews from a secular perspective. Upon further analysis, it can be seen that a biblical
worldview is founded in truth as evidenced by scripture. Genesis 1 11 lays the ground for all biblical
truth. And it assumes god is the creator of the world and the universe.
The Natural World A biblical worldview of the natural world or human origin is seen in scripture
many times, starting with the very first verse in the Bible: In the beginning, God created the heavens
and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Romans relates to the natural world with a biblical worldview, as well.
Romans 1:20 states, For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have
been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they
are without excuse. It is rarely, if ever, contested by unbelievers that the Bible does not claim God to
be the creator of the world. But unbelievers do contest the validity of the natural world being His
creation. In Romans 1:20, it is clearly stated that God has made himself known by displaying His
attributes and

Formation of Glaciers

Flow of Ice Masses
There are many categories of glacier that depend on their properties, for example relative size,
location and flow speed. A glacier can be on land or floating. Thick, floating glaciers are referred to as
ice shelves. Ice streams are channels in which ice flows much faster than the ice surrounding it.
Reaction of Glaciers to Environmental Change
Glacial flow is the primary cause of differentiation between glaciers in their growth and retreat.
Broadly, glacial change happens simultaneously with similar rates of development. Occasionally,
random fluctuations seem to occur, as can be found in rock records from the Pleistocene epoch, where
continental ice sheets were subject apparent random growth and retreat, (Cuffey Paterson, 2010). The
most direct influence on the progress of a glacier is climate. A change in climate has the obvious direct
effect of melting ice or depositing more snow, these processes are called the mass balance. A

Nevertheless, I was altogether unconvinced by the convention of subsequence confirm at first and

growing up in India I have seen a lot of people receive the gifts faster than usual. But I am glad that
Horton recognizes when he says, All the gifts of God is by grace through faith, and that faith included
obedience, must be based on God s written word, and must be faith in God. We need to ask than we

The Importance Of Martial Arts
Although martial arts is often looked down upon for its violence, people don t understand the hard
work and mentality people put into it. When two fighters are in a ring, their adrenaline is running
throughout their body. They need to focus on their techniques, their opponent s techniques, stamina,
and endurance. Every fighter knows mental toughness. Fighting requires a fighter to be at the top of
their game physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is what helps them persevere and get
through a match when they can barely stand.
Throughout the fight, the fighters need to make sure their mind is clear of any unnecessary thoughts
and use their emotions when fighting. The perceived benefit to society is showing how martial arts ...

When you re taught self defense, you gain self affirmation. Life is competitive; there is no room for
slacking off. We must continuously work on becoming the best version of ourselves. Someone who
does martial arts not only learns basic world class self defense, they are building self esteem and
learning to feel good about themselves. When a child knows they can defend themselves, it creates
self confidence. When you re in the ring staring your opponent right in the eye, the adrenaline and the
feeling of intimidation kicks in. But someone who does martial arts will come to their senses and be
confident in what they were taught. It is a powerful mental process that requires a fighter to constantly
remind himself that they are the best. Eventually, their subconscious mind becomes influenced, and
they end up believing it.
One of the best things learned in martial arts is to go at your own pace and persevere. Martial arts will

listening and reaction skills at the same time. Former UFC Welterweight World Champion Georges St

Italian Education Vs American Education Essay
One thing in common from all the countries in the world is that they have an education system. In
school, students learn the basic subjects such as mathematics, english, science, social studies, and
other extra subjects if offered. Students don t think about the importance of basic subjects that affects
their everyday life that they got from the school years of education. Although the school system seems
like it s all the same from all the countries, it is not. How the school organize each subject, each grade
level, and the requirements for each school fall to a different situation. The education system such as
in the United States and Italy happens to be an example of that.
When the school year starts, students in Italy and the United States start and end around the same

typical to say, You re welcome . But what do you say when someone coughs? By normal people s
standards, the answer to that question is nothing at all. After a person coughs, not a single word is
uttered, leaving an empty silence which desires to be filled with something. A while back in middle
school, it was this palpable feeling of emptiness which drove me to ponder the nature of this situation.

Who Is Dionysus In The Bacchae
Euripides uses the god Dionysus in The Bacchae in order to emphasize that humans need to embrace
irrational behavior in their day to day lives. In Thebes, Dionysus finds a structured and ordered
society, with their goal simply being to work as hard as possible, while Dionysus aims to simply live
to have fun and make merry. Due to the disrespect given to him by the Thebans as a result of their
differences, Dionysus aims to take revenge and force the people to worship him by destroying their
society and recreating it in his image. Dionysus and Theban society are complete opposites. Dionysus
is considered to be the god of wine and merriment. He and his followers live life to the fullest,

Despite Dionysus repeatedly trying to convince King Pentheus to see logic, the constant rebuffing at
every turn eventually leads to him giving up reconciliation and condemning the king to death. As soon
as King Pentheus says bring me my arms, attendants! and stop talking, you!, there is no more talking
to be done, and one can see that at this point that the always rational King Pentheus has repressed the
irrational, represented by Dionysus, since he is quite literally calling for his weapons to kill Dionysus
and his followers. (Euripides 809). Since King Pentheus has rejected what Dionysus has had to say
and called for his armor, Dionysus is left with no choice but to become vengeful and consequently
starts to lead King Pentheus to his doom. The critic AJ Podlecki refers to this when he says Dionysus
had told Pentheus, but he did not heed the warning, for his final assault on the Bacchae is seen as a
mad expedition which he is bound to fail (Podlecki 151). Dionysus had warned Pentheus not to do
anything rash, because there was no chance that he could defeat a god in battle. However, due to the
fact that Pentheus has made the decision to raise his sword against the Bacchante, he has exhausted
the patience of Dionysus and has therefore set himself up for his

Why The American Diet Is The Key Factor Of Weight Loss
A somber fact that exists in American society is that thousands of Americans search for the unreal
dream of becoming thin. Every day someone is on a new diet, whether it d be your neighbors, friends,
or even your relatives. Dieters acquire many disguises such as the bandwagoner , and the promise
maker . Some Americans want to lose weight quickly and conveniently; therefore, a trendy diet
attracts the bandwagoner. The new, inexpensive fees at the gym might attract the promise maker, who
typically promises to go to the gym an ample amount of times each week. Although several of the
different dieters are successful, the majority of the bandwagoners and promise makers don t succeed.
Even though there are several different ways to lose weight, according to the ACE (American Council
on Exercise), Diet is the main key factor of weight loss .
With the idea of weight loss being significant in American society, companies have taken full
advantage by creating supplements that vow to help with reducing body fat. Hydroxycut, a company
that advertises their dietary supplements, use creative slogans that lure their friends, the bandwagoners
to their hotline. Slogans such as: You ve never looked better in black! jumble with people s emotions
in a positive way, making them more prone to buying these products. Hydroxycut s main focus is the
production of caffeine capsules; these capsules stimulate appetite while giving a boost of energy.

What Is The Theme Of The Poem When We Two Parted
Poetry Analysis The poem When We Two Parted by Lord Byron, shows Bryon s true emotions when
his secret lover parts from his life, which it seems that this lover did something harmful to their
relationship. He conveys this theme by using imagery, diction, rhyme, and repetition all of these
literary devices give this poem meaning and feeling behind Bryon s words. Imagery is used to give
visual descriptions that appeal to the five senses, diction is represented in this poem to inform the
mood or tone. Rhyme is the symmetry of words and finally repetition is when something is being

Rhyme as well can give poem a beautiful flow and sound more thought out and meaningful.
Throughout this poem the rhyme scheme that repeats itself is ABABCDCD. An example of this is
when Byron says When we two parted/ in silence and tears,/ Half broken hearted (line 1 2), which is
the rhyme scheme of ABAB. The last literary device that will be addressed is repetition, which is
when something is being repeated throughout the poem. Repetition is shown is this poem when it
starts with and ends with the same line ...silence and tears (line 2 and 32). Byron uses this literary
device to show that in the beginning of the poem he is grieving over losing this lover and to also set
the mood of how he felt about that experience. Byron ends the poem with repetition of this line to
show that even when getting out what he wants to say he still feels sad about losing this lover. Since
this was a secret lover he emphasizes the fact that he is in silence with his sorrow, and this shows that
he is respectful enough not to share whomever the lover is. Because not once did Byron ever mention
who this lover was and when and where this all took

to freedom of speech: The Patriot Act s provisions are really a grab bag of governmental powers that
have been sought over the years preceding September 11th, 2001 and rejected as antithetical to civil

the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII; blacklists and domestic spying during and after
the Cold War/McCarthy era) were eventually recognized as unnecessary at best, and dangerous (The

Should Playing a Collegiate Level Sport Be Considered a Job
Should playing a collegiate level sport be considered a job? One of the loudest debates in the sports
world is whether or not college athletes should receive a share of the revenue they produce for the
universities. Men s basketball and football players generate millions of dollars a year through ticket
sales, television contracts, team merchandise, and much more. So why don t they get a share from the
profits? Does this mean that big time universities are exploiting their college athletes so that they can
cash in from their talents? College athletes in today s day in age are beginning to put in their opinion
of how they should receive a salary. Did they forget that they are still students at an institution? Most
of the big time college athletes, such as basketball and football players, are at the school with a full
athletic scholarship, which is already worth thousands of dollars. Everyday students pay to be a part of
the school, and athletes receive the benefits of going to school for free, and enjoy all the extra benefits
that come with the tough work as an athlete. These athletes receive first class treatment. They are
given private flights to away games, first class hotels, and many other luxuries. They do not pay for
tuition, transportation, food, or team facilities. On top of that, they should receive a salary? Not a
chance. The law professors find that college athletes meet all three because a coach has much control

In today s society, there is a wide range of computer use. Almost everywhere you go today you are

going to tell you how computers are used in the field of medicine. There is a wide variety of use and
need for a computer in the medical field. Their uses include storing patient related data, scanning and
imaging the body, and assisting speedy communications. Some of the main points I will be discussing
is why Health Care Professionals use computers, where computers are used in the Health Care System

In larger office and hospital settings, they also control patient flow, keeping track of who is in which
room or bed, and which rooms and physicians are available for routing patients. Hospital monitoring
equipment is usually based on computer programming. Patient monitoring equipment is computers
that leave the physician free to perform other duties. Emergency alarms, bed beeping systems,
pacemakers, life support systems that monitor and look after patients, and X ray machines are all
examples of equipment using computer technology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer
tomography (CT) use computer software. High resolution images are achieved with the use of
computers and infrared cameras.
Computers are also used in the medical field for Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS). The most
important component of computer assisted surgery is to get an accurate model of the patient. This can
be done like I said previously with a MRI, CT Scan, or Ultrasound. The final objective is the creation
of a 3D dataset that reproduces the exact geometrical situation of the normal and pathological tissues
and structures of that region. Of the available scanning methods, the CT is preferred, because MRI
data sets are known to have volumetric deformations that may lead to inaccuracies. (As cited in

The People Processes New Information Based On Their...
People processes new information based on their learning styles. VAK learning styles are designed to
describe how an individual processes information. VAK stands for Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic.
The VAK learning style uses these three senses in order to determine a person s dominate learning
style. In theory, an individual usually prefers to learn through one of these senses more than another.
Everybody, including your family members, friends and strangers may have the same or a different
learning style. Some individuals have a mixture of these three learning styles, which is not
uncommon. It all depends on how one perceives and retains information. As individuals we all learn
differently. Although people have a dominate style of learning; most learners tend to use all three
senses to understand information given to them. These three styles include: Visual, Auditory, and
Kinesthetic. For example, one might prefer a type of learning over another in order to complete a task
rather than their own dominate learning style. By understanding the three learning styles, it can help
out a student to better able to focus on his or her studying on specific techniques to increase their level
of knowledge and perhaps help them through a difficult class. Visual learners tend to learn and

Theodor Herzl Research Paper
Theodor Herzl: Father of Zionism?
Theodor Herzl is often referred to today as the Father of Zionism, a man known for his role in the
establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people. His most famous pamphlet, The Jewish State,
inspired thousands of Jewish men and women from across the world, although particularly in Europe,
to leave their homes to realize the glory of creating their own homeland in Palestine. While Herzl was
originally a believer in the gradual assimilation of German and Austrian Jews into the European
cultural world, the growing anti Semitism within Europe led him to believe that the only solution to
Jewish ostracism was the creation of a separate state for Jews in Palestine. Although Theodor Herzl

He also believed that the Jewish religion was one in a state of moral decay and rot. Herzl believed that
centuries long imprisonment in the ghetto had isolated Jews from the mainstream of history, rendering
them superstitious and fanatic and made them physically weak, cowardly, and incapable of honest,
manual labor (Kornberg 21 2). Herzl was disgusted by what he viewed as the deterioration and filth of
the Jewish religion, but at the same time his view that it centuries of domination held the Jew in such a
state gave him hope for the future of Judaism after its people were released from the yoke of
oppression.
It was during Theodor Herzl s youth and early adolescence that a period of anti clericalism arose in the
Germanic world, due mainly to Pope Pius IX and his ringing declaration that all religions were not
equal and toleration of any religion other than Catholicism was condemned. This sparked a period of
great animosity towards the Church, primarily among writers and the artistic community (Kornberg
14).
The struggle against the Catholic church in Germany during the 1870s marked a high point of liberal
influence and came to be called, in a term coined by a prominent liberal, the Kulturkampf, or the great
struggle for civilization in the interests of humanity. In the course of the 1870s, civil marriage was

approval of her. When she is away, even though she respects his advice, Cress doesn t continue her
warmth. The warmth becomes blurred with traces of guilt since the quote uses words like hot and
dusty . She doesn t find clarity with her ideas, and feels that the only person that matters is herself.
Although she is somewhat aware of her insecurities, she tries to forget by pushing her selfishness onto
other people. She is so confident that she isn t insecure that her true feelings are hidden. She still
dismisses the fact that going to her grandfather is the right thing to do and continues to express this
when she is with her parents.

The Son From America Sparknotes
In the short story The Son from America by Isaac Bashevis Singer, a man named Berl and his wife,
Berlcha live in a small village with huts as homes. Samuel, their son, lives in America and is
considered a millionaire in their village. Undeniably, there is a cultural conflict between Berl, Berlcha,
and their son. This conflict arises from their inability to communicate, and see the importance of
money in society, as well as understand one s definition of happiness through riches.
Because Samuel has lost his ability to fluently speak and write in Yiddish, his parents have difficulty
understanding him. Samuel writers letters home in a mixture of English and Yiddish which his parents
are unable to comprehend. His inability to write letters in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Samuel said Father this is a treasure! when he saw the boot filled with money. Questioning Berl about
the savings, Samuel seemed utterly shocked and in disbelief. He must have been confused because in
such a poor village, people do not give the impression that they care much about wealth. Like a good
titular son, Samuel came to give his parents and hometown only to realize, they already have it. The
village did not need anything Samuel had to offer. Berl Berlcha have everything they want but their
son failed to recognize that because of the communication issues their long distance relationship
brings. The Son from America reveals several conflicts between Samuel and his parents, Berl Berlcha.
They face more than just miscommunication; the family has cultural differences which result in the
struggle to understand each others views on happiness and how people achieve it. After giving his
parents a surprise visit, Samuel comes to realization that his parents well being does not revolve
around materialistic values the way an average American lifestyle

Silent Words in Art
The Magdalen with a smoking flame is an art piece that was done by George De La Tour in 1640.
De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas. This painting was
created in France then it was moved to the one of the most respected museums of the Los Angeles
county Museum of art. The size of the painting is 128cm by 94cm, by looking at this painting the
elements that were used are very noticeable the texture in this work gives it a very smooth and rough
feel at the same time. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in this painting and so is
the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see all the light that illuminates
Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that Mary Magdalen is thinking of something that is
unknown to us. All of the objects in the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp, and lighting of the
candle make up the unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be thinking as she meditates
on the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art. Magdalen is an actual
character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and gazing into a simple flame lamp
(Louvre, de Musee Paris).
This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the suffering of Jesus Christ.
De
La Tour is most known for depicting scenes from the bible and characters. The books that are on top
of the table are represented as bibles. When I

Clinical Depression Case Study Essay
The aforementioned questions are very critical to my role as a healthcare professional in the industry.
Having worked in an outpatient setting. I have had several encounters with individuals who are being
treated for depression. The reason for their condition can be ascribed to the physical pain they are
experiencing. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, depression is a psychological
disorder that is serious, it necessitates empathy and treatment management to address the debilitating
condition and thwart it from getting life threatening ( Mental Health Conditions, n.d.). The National
Institute of Mental Health has highlighted that clinical depression, as it is commonly referred is a

The patient went to see a pain management doctor for his low back pain. He had a constant

Due to intensified pain, he was to undergo Lumbar anterior and posterior fusion. The patient was in
long drawn out recovery after the accident and was going through manic depression. He then started
with home physical therapy and was later recommended to an outpatient setting. He is currently
prescribed for Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) (Ciccone, 2015) to treat his manic depressive disorder.
According to Food and Drug Administration Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) is an antagonist at
multiple neurotransmitter receptors in the brain ( Food and Drug Administration, n.d., para. 6); the
mechanism of its action is however unknown. Nonetheless, it has been discussed that efficacy of this
drug to schizophrenia is facilitated through a combination of dopamine type 2 and serotonin type 2

The Treaty of Versailles Essay
The Treaty of Versailles In January of 1919, Woodrow Wilson of the United States, David LLoyd
George Great Britain, Georges Clemenceau of France, and Orlando of Italy convened in Paris to
Create a peace settlement that would put an end to World War I a war which devastated numerous
countries throughout the world, and one that had threatened the chances of peace ever existing in the
future among the nations of Europe. Known as the Treaty of Versailles, its goal was to restore a new

However, the failure of the United States to join the League consequently resulted in a lack of interest
of international enthusiasm towards the League. It gradually became ineffectual as it failed to deal
with growing international crises in the mid 1920 to 1930 s. This failure immediately caused much
unrest in France for it was relying on help should Germany pose as a threat in the later years. The
problem was solved when Great Britain and the United States agreed to form a defensive alliance
should France come under attack. Nonetheless, France was still wary towards Germany, particularly
because after the war, Germany suffered from a rising inflation, and after a year of paying France war
indemnities, they were unable to continue to do so. Because the French were afraid that Germany was
violating the Treaty of Versailles, troops were sent in to occupy the Rubs valley until Germany was
able to allocate the funds. Both countries suffered because of this. German money became worthless
as the government scrambled to print paper money, and the maintenance of French troops in German
territory was costly for the French as well.
Germans were particularly angered by the war resolutions and deemed the provisions of the Treaty
unjust and unfair. According to the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was required to give up various
territories, such as Alsace, West

New York City s Jewish Mother
Mierle Laderman Ukeles: New York City s Jewish Mother
Ukeles is most often studied as a feminist and environmental artist, and rarely is her Jewishness
studied in relation to her art practice. To fully understand her art requires an understanding of her
Jewish upbringing and her Jewish ideas in particular, those ideas around ritual, cleansing, and repair.
The Standard story:
Late 60s, Mierle is a young art student at NYU. Her sculpture teacher sees that she is pregnant and
tells her, well, I guess now you can t be an artist.
She has her daughter with her husband, Jack. People keep saying to her, well, do you do anything?
Experiences like these beginning to accumulate, as many mothers know all too well, and Mierle
becomes keenly aware ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the artist creates their artwork, who is going to be there to clean up the never ending
accumulation of dust? Who is going to maintain it so that it can continue to be experienced? She asked
this question in another, revolutionary way, After the revolution, who s going to pick up the garbage
on Monday morning?
She wrote about maintenance and wrote about art, and she began to perform maintenance as art. First,
at home performing home maintenance and calling it art. By doing so, she assigns this work the
cultural value that comes with the word, art, and then at the museum. She washes the floors, the stairs,
the street, and the entry to the museum, a performance that she did on her hands and knes in variable
body positions fo eight hours, for all museum visitors to see.
She took these typically invisible, behind the scenes, unvalued processes, and brought them into the
light. She made, what she called, a, life process of the museum visible. And she assigned it cultural
value, giving value to the labor and the laborers who keep it clean, who keep it safe just like a mother.
She took this notion of life process from her home to the museum (transition to other things
jewishness she brought from her home)
She then takes it to the street, so she is going from the individual to the group to the system, when she
becomes the artist in residence with the New York

Ephesians
There s lots of times in our lives where we feel powerless. Maybe its tax season, the direction of the
country, control over our children or even our own lives. Yet God has promised Christians a life that
goes far beyond our fears of inadequacy. In Ephesians, Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus: Now to
Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power
that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations
forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20 21). This phrase: more abundantly beyond (NASB) is
translated various ways. Sometimes its translated as immeasurably more (NIV), or accomplish
abundantly far more (NRSV). Interestingly, far more abundantly and beyond are words from the same
root word in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul s is basically repeating himself here as if saying: abundantly, abundantly. The motto of the
country of Spain is: Further Beyond. I wonder if they came up with this sailing to the New WOrld.
Indeed, we can learn a lot about God s plans fro us in the Bible, but God has so much more in store for
us than we can even comprehend or read about. Concerning everything we could ask we can ask for
quite a bit! We sometimes pray: Lord, I want a million dollars, and a brand new car. Well, that s not
exactly what God is teaching here. How about opportunities to reach the lost? Prayers for patience?
Prayers for wisdom? We can think quite a few things as well: Can God really help me through this
temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13)? Is God going to be there for me through the hard times (Psalm 23)?
Will He provided for my needs (Matthew 6:31 33)? Finally, the verse in Ephesians says: according to
the power that works within us. Its kind of scary to think of God working in us. We have a boss in
Heaven, and He expects us to work for Him. Yet He s the best and He ll help us go far beyond

Bias In History
History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon
Throughout time, history has been manipulated and changed by those who write it. No one person is
ever truly objective and by that respect, no historian is unbiased. Those who write history often have
been the victors of battle, or swayed to one side of a story with a bias often in their favour. With the
introduction of photography, one could assume that history could not be re written, yet since its birth,
as with history itself, photography has been manipulated, staged and edited to portray an entirely
alternate account of the events of the past. Even Documentary photography can have opinions
influencing it at times. However is it fair to say that history comes ... Show more content on

The first is that the negative itself was cut up and reassembled. He would have cut out Trotsky and
replaced the blank space with another negative from the site the original negative was taken before
light exposure. Doing this method would be tricky and would take meticulous craftsmanship, so it was
very easy to get wrong. An easier, more likely option, is that they edited the image by creating a
photogram. To do this they would have used paper or another material to block the light in the shape
of Trotsky, giving the illusion of a complete image in just one exposure. This method is a little less
delicate and can be achieved via trial and error rather easily. David King who researched about the
censorship that Stalin created in Communist Russia said that Whatever the state considered
undesirable was withdrawn from view. In Stalin s time, this was a monumental task Stalin had a view
of exactly how he wanted Russia to be ran, and in order to achieve that he thought that he had to hide
and present what he wanted the public to see rather than what actually is happening. Trotsky had
challenged his views and felt betrayed by the fact that he did not completely agree with how things
were to be ran in Russia, so removed him from images to sway the public into agreeing that Trotsky
was a traitor and should be exiled.

Sex Offender Notification System
Since 1994 nationwide laws have been put into an effect nationwide asking for those convicted of a
sexual crime be placed on a registered list. In the 20 years since its implementation, the registry has
added several caveats such as a tier based registry where the violent offenders were kept at a higher
more prominent level. As well as public notice every few months of an offender relocating or living in
your area. While some low levels offenders must relinquish 15 years of their life notifying the public
and remaining on this list, those on the higher tier of the list must reregister more often and for the rest
of their lives. While on the surface it would seem that having such a list, coupled with a lifetime of

Since it s their enactment however some states have seen a dramatic increase in sex offenders whether
due to the expansion of the definition of a sexual crime, or the reclassification of some convicts as a
result of this law. An example of this would be prior to the law if a teenager was tried as an adult in
their state, served time but under the state s legislature was not required to register as an offender.
Under the current law, there is a possibility this teenager will have to register for the rest of their life
every 3 months. Failure to do so may result in a felony charge or possible life sentence. If they were to
go to college they would need to reregister with the state they reside in as well as their home state, and
would likely also be rejected for federal aid as the classification may have already pegged him as a

examiners whenever the in cling arose. Because of this, homicides were going unanswered, as the law
did not understand how to correctly handle these types of situations. Frances then created the Harvard
Seminars in Homicide Investigation specifically tailored to the learning of medical examination. She
planned the week long events and managed the learning skills and techniques, with the help of
Harvard and deep research in forensics. The first HAPS seminar was held in 1945. Guests were
invited from around the country and spent a full, long week learning about crime scene investigation.
She invited specialists to attend and lecture. This included identifying victims, interrogation

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Integration Of...
The discussion of a single currency for West African Countries has been going on for over a decade
now. The countries of West Africa are working towards achieving monetary and currency integration
by introducing a common currency called Ecoi throughout the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ)
( Common currency for West Africa , 2017). Therefore, I will be discussing the disadvantages of the
integration of currencies in West African Countries and explaining why the integration of currencies in
West Africa is a bad thing.
West Africa is the westernmost sub region of Africa which consists of 18 countries with a population
of about 362 million as of 2016 ( West Africa , 2017). However, some West African countries came
together from different colonial experiences and administrations to form Economic community of
West African states known as ECOWAS today. ECOWAS was formed on the 29th of May 1975 via
the treaty of Lagos. It consists of 15 member countries who came together with the aim of promoting
economic and social integration in all fields of activities between these countries with the hope of
achieving progress and economic stability ( Basic information | Economic Community of West
African States(ECOWAS) , 2017).
One of the establishments under the ECOWAS integration was the Economic Community of West
African States Monitoring Cooperation Program (EMCP), which was adopted in 1987 in hopes of
limiting currency convertibility and introducing a common currency in the sub region

  • 2. System And Surroundings Lab Report Intro ERT Chemical changes occur when molecules in the reactants break and form new compounds called the products. The separation of the bonds in the reactants require a certain amount of energy whereas energy is released when products are formed. There are two components where a physical or chemical change takes place. These are the system and surroundings. System and Surroundings The system is the site of the chemical reaction and the surrounding is the entire universe around it. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be crated or destroyed although one form of energy can be converted to the other form and vice versa . (Dinesh Books) Since energy cannot be created by any means, it simply transfers between the system and surroundings. Furthermore, since energy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, 10 grams of the desired chemical was weighed out. This was then placed in a sandwich bag. The sandwich bag was aimed to act as a calorimeter for two reasons. Firstly, a calorimeter would limit heat and volume exchange between system and surroundings and also depict the scenario of a real ice pack. 15,20 and 25 ml of water were measured into a smaller beaker. The initial temperature of the water was recorded with a thermometer so a change in temperature could be determined. This probe was then placed in the sandwich bag while sealed to observe the temperature inside the assumed calorimeter. Once both temperatures were recorded, the probe was carefully inserted into the sandwich bag. The bag was then sealed except for a little space to pour the water. The water was poured in through the gap and the bag was sealed immediately. The timer was started at the time the water was poured in. The independent variables were measured along with the time of the total reaction and noted down for further observation and analysis. The procedure was repeated with the different amounts of water and the different chemicals indicated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mass Media Bias And Its Effect On The Media Having control over an entire country s population s opinion is a powerful thing to have. Possessing that control would allow you to direct how the population spends their money or even who they like and dislike in politics. The mainstream media news outlets have this control and are expected to give us information that is unbiased, fair, and not meant to sway our opinion. The topic I will be exploring is bias in the mainstream news media and how it effects their viewers. This is an important topic in the field of communication because it has such a great impact on any country that uses mass media to disseminate information. The information can be given to the viewers with a certain twist to intentionally shape their view of an event, or it can be unintentionally bias just by the tone and manner they are reporting on the event. I am going to research how mass media news outlets influence the viewers opinion, and what goes in to picking the news stories covered. These are controversial topics to get into, but important to consider. They can have a very big impact on things like elections for a political office, support or dislike of a certain group, or can sway your opinion of who is the hero in a certain story. My sources will need to show specific examples of how the media is biased towards one opinion, what the effects are from this are, and who makes the determines the bias that is being displayed. • 4. Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John Dryden Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden himself which features the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical aspects of the Popish plot to light. George Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham, was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes of the couplets involving George even states that the section on George was The least political of the satirical portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes, was not fit to be a leader in the Popish plot was an extreme understatement as he painted an overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable of making an impact in the Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in the process of painting this satirical imagery, also uses George as an example of showing consequentialism in action. In Absalom and Achitophel Dryden begins with writing how George Villier only positive credential of being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials lack in uniqueness when compared to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier became a chief of the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). Ironically, however, this is followed up by Dryden describing him as A man so various, that he seemed to be / Not one, but all mankind s epitome (545 546). Claiming him to be a chief in this context is ironic in the sense that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Grand Nursing Theory Paper From the beginning of time, great emphasis has been placed on a need for care due to illness and disease. In the past, medical knowledge in nursing guided and provided the greatest direction for practice. It was not until the 1960 s when Dr. Madeleine Leininger felt there was a need of shift from biomedicine toward integrating culturally sensitive care within the profession of nursing. The goal of the theory has been to use research findings to provide culture specific care that would be culturally congruent, safe, and beneficial to people of diverse or similar cultures for their health, wellbeing, and healing, and to help face disability and death (McFarland, Wehbe Alamah, 2015, p. 6). Utilizing the seven chosen criteria listed in Willis (2002, pp.119 122) Overview of Grand Nursing Theories, including the contemporary social, political, and economic realities, I will be describing and analyzing Madeleine M. Leininger s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality. I will also discuss how Leininger s theory guides my personal practice, potential barriers that may arise while using this theory, and strategies to facilitate the use of the theory. • 6. Pros And Cons Of American Psycho Just in the U.S. there are thousands of books that are banned or censored and every year there are hundreds more that get banned or censored. American Psycho is a book published in 1991 by Bret Easton Ellis which is heavily censored. This book cannot even be sold to anyone under 18 and must be wrapped in plastic. This fictional book was written for adults that like black comedy and the thrill of a gruesome and violent book. American Psycho is a book about a murderous rich man that is censored for a few very good reasons but still should be able to be bought and sold by the public. American Psycho all starts in New York City where the main character, Patrick Bateman lives. Patrick is a rich man that focuses on money, how he dresses, and drugs. One day as he was walking down the street he saw his first victim. Bateman spots him sitting on the sidewalk and stops to taunt him, calling him worthless and disgusting and asking why he doesn t simply get a job. Al begins to cry, and then Bateman suddenly stabs him in the eye (Mauriello, American Psycho Summary). After his first victim was finally dead he just got worse. Soon after he murders his ex girlfriend Bethany after getting her drunk at lunch and even stabs a young child to death in a public park (Mauriello, American Psycho Summary). • 7. Marine Marcoalgaes Lab Report Photosynthesis of marine marcoalgaes split into 2 processes; light reaction (photochemical reaction which is affected by concentration of the chlorophyll and irradiance) and the dark reaction (chemical process, where temperature and concentration of the substrate influence on). However between those two reactions, there is an intermediates metabolic process, where NADPH and ATP are produced. The amount of produced NADPH and ATP depends upon light limitation, which later results of dark reaction sufficiency. In photosynthesis pigments function is to absorb the light energy as photons. They are localized in the light harvesting antenna protein pigment (LHC) in thylakoid membraines of the chloroplast. (Dring, 1992) Bladders wrack contain wide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence most of the energy which was previously absorbed by accessory pigments is actually transfer to chlorophyll a. This transfer is possible due to a fact that chlorophyll a among all other pigments have the possibility to absorb at the longest wavelength. Moreover its excitation cost less energy. However chlorophyll a can be divided into different forms, which depends upon changes of the maximal wavelength absorption, which range between 662 and 700 nm. This segregation system allows the transfer from the short wavelength to long wavelength and appears as a two distinct systems, which are the photosystem I (PI) and photosystem II (PII). The organization of the systems present as: PI contains the chlorophyll a longest wavelength absorption type, while PII also contain the chlorophyll a, but a short wavelength absorption type and additionally the accessory pigments. In the each of the reactive center there is an energy trap, therefore PI with single molecule of a chlorophyll a with absorption of 700 nm will have a P700 trap, where PII will result with P 680 690 trap where the absorption wavelength by different form of chlorophyll a and accessory pigments is shorter. However, whenever I first step into the class, the first thing I will look for is what hat is going to be on Mr. Driscoll s head. There are all cute and smart hats! I laugh every single time I look at his funny hats. Oh, I have a tagline for this class! A hat a day, keeps the stress away. Ah, I am going to miss his hats, I swear. Time flies so fast. Spring is about coming to the end. I am definitely not the same person today as I was yesterday. Everything has changed; hopefully in a good way. Yes, I make mistakes, I reflect, and I become wiser at the end. In this essay, I am going to write some reflections that drive me to become a better writer. During the process of drafting a paper, one of the things I have in mind is my audience. In order to write a good paper, it is crucial to consider the audience so you can identify how you are going to write it. For example, if you are going to write letter to your brother, it will sound weird if you use formal language. Same goes if you are writing to the Obama; it will definitely sound weird if you greet him like, how is it going, bro? It is way too informal and you cannot do this if you are writing to your leader. What I am trying to say here is it is your audience that will determine the style of your writing. Before this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Veldt Summary In The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, the parents, George and Lydia are at fault for their own death because they didn t decrease the screen time for their kids Wendy, and Peter earlier in their lives. Which could have gotten them addicted over time. I also found this website named Limiting screen time for kids. And that website tells me that as a child grows a parent will need to decide how much media to let your child use each day, also, what websites are appropriate for them. In the story it states that the children were sobbing and screaming when their parents took away their technology, this caused the kids to get mad. This other website Technology Addiction states that Technology addiction, sometimes called internet addiction, or Internet Use Disorder is a fairly new phenomenon in the world. Peter told his dad to call a psychologist to fix the nursery room when they don t need it. Usually kids don t call a psychiatrist so this proves that the kids were addicted to technology. • 13. How Does Golding Use Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Symbolism in The Lord of The Flies It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something more than its literal meaning (Telgen 15) From butterflies to actual characters, you could sense that this book contained symbolism. Although Lord of the Flies appears on the surface to be a mere story about children abandoned on an island, William Golding uses symbolism to convey a deeper meaning. This novel had many accounts of symbolism. It also captured the keen interest of their instructors in debating the merits and defeats of different characters and the hunting down of literary sources and deeper symbolic meanings in the story (Telgen 2). Most of the events, characters, and objects had symbolic meanings. His narrative style has an unusual lucidity and vitality because he never forgets the concrete in his search for symbolic action (Cox 2). Golding consistently looked for ways to add symbols in his novel. Many critics pointed out how much this story was symbolic. A story so explicitly symbolic as this might easily ... • 14. Qhetorical Analysis Of Isabella Bird s Lake Tahoe Journalist, Isabella Bird, in her journal, Lake Tahoe, expresses her feelings about Lake Tahoe and the journey there. Bird s purpose is to outline her trip and journey to Lake Tahoe. She adopts a nostalgic tone in order to express her feelings to her readers. Bird opens her journal, on September second, by describing what Lake Tahoe looks like in her eyes. It was not lovable, like the Sandwich Islands, but beautiful in it s own way! she is saying that Lake Tahoe is not beautiful in looks however, it is more beautiful than what meets the eye. Lake Tahoe is before me, a sheet of water twenty two miles long by ten broad, and in some places 1,700 feet deep. It lies at a height of 6,000 feet and the snow crowned summits which wall it in are from 8,000 to 11,000 feet in altitude. The air is keen and elastic. However, the impact of data compromise has increased substantially as identities have migrated from visual to digital. Scenarios like the ones mentioned above have become significant due to never before seen levels of regulatory fines and litigation expenses. The New Basel Capital Accord (Basel II) requires financial institutions to develop a comprehensive loss distribution so that they can more accurately estimate their risk profile and reserve requirements. In particular, Basel II adds operational risk to the traditional categories of credit risk and market risk that are currently used to estimate capital requirements. 2 Addressing Operational Risk By including operational risk in the calculation metrics for the New Capital Accord, Basel II has recognized that credit and market risks are not the only exposures that a bank may face. The complexity of calculating operational risk is, however, compounded by the fact that the internal loss history of a financial institution does not adequately account for all the operational risks and exposures faced by that institution. To augment internal experiential data, Basel II recommends that financial institutions look to external events and scenarios. External loss data cannot be readily used in capital calculations due to the inherent shortcomings of the reliability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While they are together and have sort of hidden meanings they also can tell the same story, just different parts. Examining closer you can see concepts of creation, ageing, and art The lamb is of course a child and the lamb are a representation of a child s wonder. The child asks the lamb who made it. This is why the Tyger is paired with fire in the poem. The fire is a destructive force that everyone fears. The fire is also very powerful. This is why the Tyger was made in the furnace, because just like the fire the Tyger is fierce and dangerous. The person reading the poem even seems confused and even a little tramaised at the Tyger, asking themselves, oh what chain and oh what hammer . Foundations for a biblical worldview are seen throughout these chapters specifically in regards to the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and culture. A biblical worldview in these areas is vastly contrary to the same worldviews from a secular perspective. Upon further analysis, it can be seen that a biblical worldview is founded in truth as evidenced by scripture. Genesis 1 11 lays the ground for all biblical truth. And it assumes god is the creator of the world and the universe. The Natural World A biblical worldview of the natural world or human origin is seen in scripture many times, starting with the very first verse in the Bible: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Their uses include storing patient related data, scanning and imaging the body, and assisting speedy communications. Some of the main points I will be discussing is why Health Care Professionals use computers, where computers are used in the Health Care System , and Computer Assisted Surgery. Computers are used by Health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In larger office and hospital settings, they also control patient flow, keeping track of who is in which room or bed, and which rooms and physicians are available for routing patients. Hospital monitoring equipment is usually based on computer programming. Patient monitoring equipment is computers that leave the physician free to perform other duties. Emergency alarms, bed beeping systems, pacemakers, life support systems that monitor and look after patients, and X ray machines are all examples of equipment using computer technology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer tomography (CT) use computer software. High resolution images are achieved with the use of computers and infrared cameras. Computers are also used in the medical field for Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS). The most important component of computer assisted surgery is to get an accurate model of the patient. This can be done like I said previously with a MRI, CT Scan, or Ultrasound. The final objective is the creation of a 3D dataset that reproduces the exact geometrical situation of the normal and pathological tissues and structures of that region. Of the available scanning methods, the CT is preferred, because MRI data sets are known to have volumetric deformations that may lead to inaccuracies. (As cited in biomed.brown.edu/Courses/BI108/BI108_2005_Groups/04/) Computer assisted surgery is the beginning of a revolution in surgery, it makes a huge difference in high ... Like an LED, an OLED is a solid state semiconductor device that is 100 to 500 nanometers thick or about 200 times smaller than a human hair. OLEDs can have either two layers or three layers of organic material. An OLED consists of the following parts: Substrate The substrate supports the OLED. The materials used are clear plastic, glass, foil. Anode (transparent) The anode removes electrons (adds electron quot;holes quot;) when a current flows through the device. Organic layers These layers are made of organic molecules or polymers. Conducting layer This layer is made of organic plastic molecules that transport quot;holes quot; from the anode. One conducting polymer used in OLEDs is polyaniline. Emissive layer This layer is made of organic plastic molecules (different ones from the conducting layer) that transport electrons from the cathode; this is where light is made. One polymer used in the emissive layer is polyfluorene. Cathode The cathode injects electrons when current flows through the device. 6. Working: How do OLEDs Emit Light? VAK learning styles are designed to describe how an individual processes information. VAK stands for Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. The VAK learning style uses these three senses in order to determine a person s dominate learning style. In theory, an individual usually prefers to learn through one of these senses more than another. Everybody, including your family members, friends and strangers may have the same or a different learning style. Some individuals have a mixture of these three learning styles, which is not uncommon. It all depends on how one perceives and retains information. As individuals we all learn differently. Although people have a dominate style of learning; most learners tend to use all three senses to understand information given to them. These three styles include: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic. For example, one might prefer a type of learning over another in order to complete a task rather than their own dominate learning style. By understanding the three learning styles, it can help out a student to better able to focus on his or her studying on specific techniques to increase their level of knowledge and perhaps help them through a difficult class. Theodor Herzl is often referred to today as the Father of Zionism, a man known for his role in the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people. His most famous pamphlet, The Jewish State, inspired thousands of Jewish men and women from across the world, although particularly in Europe, to leave their homes to realize the glory of creating their own homeland in Palestine. While Herzl was originally a believer in the gradual assimilation of German and Austrian Jews into the European cultural world, the growing anti Semitism within Europe led him to believe that the only solution to Jewish ostracism was the creation of a separate state for Jews in Palestine. Herzl believed that centuries long imprisonment in the ghetto had isolated Jews from the mainstream of history, rendering them superstitious and fanatic and made them physically weak, cowardly, and incapable of honest, manual labor (Kornberg 21 2). Herzl was disgusted by what he viewed as the deterioration and filth of the Jewish religion, but at the same time his view that it centuries of domination held the Jew in such a state gave him hope for the future of Judaism after its people were released from the yoke of oppression. It was during Theodor Herzl s youth and early adolescence that a period of anti clericalism arose in the Germanic world, due mainly to Pope Pius IX and his ringing declaration that all religions were not equal and toleration of any religion other than Catholicism was condemned. This sparked a period of great animosity towards the Church, primarily among writers and the artistic community (Kornberg 14). The struggle against the Catholic church in Germany during the 1870s marked a high point of liberal influence and came to be called, in a term coined by a prominent liberal, the Kulturkampf, or the great struggle for civilization in the interests of humanity. David King who researched about the censorship that Stalin created in Communist Russia said that Whatever the state considered undesirable was withdrawn from view. In Stalin s time, this was a monumental task Stalin had a view of exactly how he wanted Russia to be ran, and in order to achieve that he thought that he had to hide and present what he wanted the public to see rather than what actually is happening.
