Audience
My magazine is targeted at young
women from ethnic backgrounds.
This is because I wanted to
showcase the talents that women,
from ethnic minorities, have in the
music industry as they are usually
belittled. I believe my magazine
gives a positive representation of
ethnic women as no one is ‘half-
naked’ or has provocative body
language. By doing this, I have not
reinforced stereotypes in which
readers will overlook this stereotype
and appreciate the talent from
ethnic women.

Even though my target audience is
for ethnic, young women, it’s also
aimed at all young women I just
chose to target ethnic women to
glorify their success in the music
industry and that they are not
appreciated enough. However ,
the type of readers that I’m going
for in terms of location are possibly
women living in Camden ,
Hackney. As some people who live
in Camden, their fashion is out of
the norm and somewhat trendy. As
my magazine is not the
conventional, I believe that it will fit
right in in this location as it could
be seen as relatable in terms of
style.

For my lexis , I use standard English because
it’s easy to read and understandable. Even
though slang is understandable to an extent,
especially for my age demographic, I didn’t
want the magazine to be too ‘HipHop because
I still wanted there to be a level of
sophistication despite the genre. Also, if I’m
selling the magazine in locations such as
Camden Market , that is an area considered to
be of working class people probably finished
secondary education, so the language used is
for everybody to read without diverging
anyone.
When targeting a magazine predominantly for
females, that doesn’t mean that there can’t be
male readers. For my magazine I know that I
wouldn’t have a large quantity of male readers
However , male artists would still be featured
in the magazine but the main focus would be
on females
