2. How is age represented?
The dominating artist that is featured on my magazine appears
to be the age of 18 so therefore the target audience is of
people around or under the artists age. For example people
between the ages of 15-19. This is because the target audience
will naturally want to aspire to be like the artists.
Additionally, the attire that the artist is displayed in could be
scene as high street clothing so this could connote that the
artist is irresponsible towards materialist belonging and that
her image is a big trait to how she is portrayed to her fans.
Furthermore, the language theme I have included throughout
the entire magazine consistently used is informal witch give a
conversational tone to the pages. This will help the target
audience to stay engaged in the magazine and the frequent use
of colloquial language and ‘slang’ words will encourage them to
relate to the magazine.
3. How is gender represented?
The colour scheme is typical for the genre because the colour pallet is
expected. Deep red, grey and black. However the deep red has a tint of
purple embedded so this give a softer feel and a fenemim feel to the overall
magazine. Therefore the primary target audience are females witch is
highlighted by the use of colours. In my opinion I feel that this is a USP
purely basied on the fact that not many music magazines have a fan base of
just females. This automatically give my magazine a selling advantage and the
target audience will be drawn to this concept. Also the text body in witch
are displayed in is a serif font. This a stereotypical choice of text that
fashion magazines usually entail. There for this is not a expected convention
as it is a music magazine. Stereotypically, it is anticipated that a teenage girl
is likely to read a fashion magazine. Additionally as the dominating artists is
female then the female fan base will want to read the magazine so she can
identify them selves to here aspired artists.
The secondary target audience is males- of the same age range- that find
the artists attractive. they may want to purchase the magaine because they
want to learn more about the artist. Also they may also have an interest in
the music she delivers.
4. How is social class represented?
The magazine is only published on a monthly basis so there
will be more information to fill the pages. This could illustrate
that the target audience are of a non working social class
because it is more financially acceptable if it is once a mount
instead of every week. This could mean because the target
audience may be in full time education (collage/ secondary
school) or have a part time job. This is a typical expectation of
this age group. I came to this concludes after my primary
research I carried out a questionnaire. I asked the target
audience what price they preferred and the majority
responded with monthly.
Furthermore, the way the artist is dressed could be seen as
high range so therefore the target audience could be middle
class so they can relate to the artist.
