History, Mission And Philosophy Of The Organization
History, Mission and Philosophy of the Organization or Board of Directors: The Association of
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses was established in 2006, but was not always known as
APHON. Before the title APHON, it used to be just APON because hematology was not included
when it was first founded in 1974. APON was established in 1974 when Oncology nurses decided that
they needed to have their own association to discuses their research and outcomes with other
Oncology nurses from around the United States. As their organization grew they realized that blood
disorders played a major role in cancer, thus creating the title we know of today as APHON. APHON s
mission is to not only to assist and excel Hem/Onc nurses, but also to help amplify the opportunistic
outcomes of their adolescent patients. APHON s vision to be overall recognized as the prime leader in
hematology/oncology nursing from their infants all the way up to their young adults is what keeps
them reaching for success everyday. President or other Governing Information: APHON s 2015 2017
presidency winner, who has also been a APHON member since 1989, is Kathleen Ruccione. Ruccione
has been the president for almost a year now and says to have enjoyed every bit of it. Ruccione has
acquired much schooling in her life and has been able to get her; PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN and CPON.
Before her presidency, Russione not only founded the Southern California Chapter in 1982, but has
also been an APHON nominating member,

Snow Piercer Analysis
Snow Piercer was directed by Bong Joon ho in 2013, which is based on the French novel Le
Transperceneige. At first glance, most people will not understand the many themes that this particular
film has. After carefully examining the film the viewers may find the hidden themes in the film that
will be explained in this analysis. Themes that will discuss are humanity, revolt, and master of your
fate. There are many sub themes within the film but this particular analysis, it is the crucial focus on
these themes because it helps develop the central plot and conflict with in the film. The first theme
that will discuss is humanity. The whole plot of the movie focuses on preserving humanity or what s
left of it. After global warming had destroyed the earth and making unsuitable for any living creature
to survive the Conductor train made that makes an around trip cross the earth to try to preserve
humanity. Even though he was ridiculed about his theories and his plan to save humanity he still went
ahead with plans and end up saving what was left of humanity. Throughout the movie, many of the
characters humanity was tested. Even though the Conductor saved humanity he sectioned off the train
by class. The lower class was placed in the last cart of the train. They were treated horribly and were
supplied with the basic necessity of living. Since the lower class did not have the basic necessity of
living their humanity was questioned every day. Later in the film the protagonist in the

Examples Of Mistreatment And Inequality In The 13th Amendment
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall
have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States (Lantigua Williams). As stated in the
constitution, the Thirteenth amendment states that no person can be treated as a slave; the exception to
this statement is the fact that the revision to the constitution says that anyone who is convicted of a
crime can be treated like a slave. African Americans have been oppressed since they were brought
over from Africa; consequently, they are constantly fighting the war on racism and having numerous
struggles to overcome. The 13th shows in detail the different forms of mistreatment and inequality that
people of color experience. Ava Duverney uses exceptional historical evidence, different forms of
media, and expert advice to show that ever since the passage of the Thirteenth amendment, there has
been an increase in the incarceration statistics of African Americans. Ironically, the United States is
commonly called the land of the free, but five out of twenty five percent of the world s population is
incarcerated in the American prison system (Filmmaker). Duverney s main topic that she focuses on in
her film is the loophole that was present in the Thirteenth amendment. To avoid a public display of
slavery, the police force arrested people, particularly African American men, based on false
accusations or for minor offenses. On April 19, 1989, three teenagers were accused

Essay on Comparison of Animal Rights Texts
Comparison of Animal Rights Texts
I am going to compare two pieces of text called: It s a crying shame and Sorry, but I think dying
people are more important than dumb animals, by an Animal Rights Group and Polly Toynbee
respectively. The first article is intended to appeal to a younger audience who think that killing
animals is wrong because they are cute etc. The second extract is aimed at adults who are interested in
the welfare of human beings. The Animal Aid leaflet is persuasive as it is trying to pledge donations to
stop animal experiments. The newspaper article is informative and persuasive by saying that killing an
animal to save humans is good because would you rather die than an ... Show more content on

I find this rather effective and it would catch my eye if I glanced at the article and draw my attention
towards reading it.
On the Animal Rights Leaflet there is a main image of a dog on the front, which I think appears to be
crying. This looks the part and the dog really does look sad. This attracts attention as if the dog was
crying for help. The use of colour is used well as the picture of the dog is a golden brown shade,
which is very attractive I would say. People will instantly want to read this leaflet because of the
expression on the dog s face. On the back of the leaflet there is picture of a mouse with some sort of
growth coming off its side, I suspect that this is a tumour of some sorts. Personally I don t find this
disturbing but a vast majority of the public will do and will never want that to happen again so they
will want to pledge money to help stop animal experimentation. There is another picture of a monkey
of some sorts and it appears to be very sad as if it has been tortured etc. I think the choice of pictures
on this leaflet is rather good and will help put the point across to the reader.
The newspaper articles picture is very plain and boring. It is just a

Great Gatsby, Winter Dreams, And The Curious Case Of...
When we re living our life, sooner or later we ll have to confront one event where it will make us
reevaluate our life choices and it will be considered as an epiphany. This emotional turmoil is one of
the issues, if not, the biggest reason Winter Dreams is such a treat to most readers. Winter Dreams was
written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, an American author born in Saint Paul, MN in 1896, and deceased in
December 21, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. During these 44 years Fitzgerald s works achieved an
enormous recognition and appreciation from the public, to the point where these works became staples
in today s literature with stories like The Great Gatsby, Winter Dreams, and The Curious Case of
Benjamin Button. These pieces became staples in the American literature mainly because Fitzgerald
developed an expertise to illustrate the Jazz Age in his artworks. For example, the way he describes
the scenarios and the lavish life of the higher class in The Great Gatsby, and Winter Dreams. But what
is truly intriguing about Fitzgerald s pieces is the subtle darkness he utilizes in his pieces. As we ll
explore in Winter Dreams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Pitbulls
All the time pitbull s have been missed treated and known as the most dangerous breed, this is why
they came up with the BSL laws to prevent a pitbull s for doing bad things but is not the pitbull s fault
it is a humans for treating them and telling them how to be. The BSL is not working it is a complete
failure as long as I have heard and read in so many articles. I want to do this for my PPP because I
strongly disagree with the BSL they are basically treating pitbull s, German Shepherd, Rottweiler and
many other breeds. The BSL basically tells the owners to treat their dogs as prisoners ,they are free
,but they are kept and treated like prisoners. For example if the BSL law is enforced in your city or
state you have to have the dog in a muscle contained them in a chained kennel with concrete floor,
they must be in any certain length and material of leash and they must wear a tag that ... Show more

is a rumor that people think that pitbull s have a special locking jaw the other dogs do not have which
a lie because pitbulls do not have special locking jaws , that s purely a myth. People also think that

Ways Hartley and Frayn present Childhood in The...
In the Go Between, Hartley presents the world of children and childhood through the first person
narrative (from the viewpoints of the young and old Leo), Leo s vivid imagination, the themes of
growing up and self awareness, the conflict between the child and adult world, and the portrayal of
Leo as a school boy. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative
which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new
era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28).
Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet simplicity of a child s point of
view and enhances Leo s personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively
emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and
suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1.
p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood
and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship
between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse
his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p.
183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult
narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve
attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame
for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader
feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like
sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship
between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees

Rhetorical Analysis Of Lost In The Kitchen By Dave Barry
Dave Barry, in his essay, Lost in the Kitchen , writes about how men are useless when it comes to
helping in the kitchen. Barry s main purpose is to show this in a relatable yet humorous way to his
audience. Barry talks about a thanksgiving experience and is amazed that all the stereotypical remarks
about men and women in the kitchen are true. In order to convey this message to the audience, Barry
uses humor to connect with his audience by using an amusing tone, using figurative language and
making it relatable to his audience, all to achieve his comic effect. Throughout this essay he focuses
on keeping the tone light and humorous so as to entertain and yet still educate. Barry uses an amusing
tone to tell about the subject and manages to

What Is The Theme Of The Movie Girlhood
Girlhood Movie Review Life displays many petrifying inevitable circumstances to things that
humanity must live by. A main significant theme in Girlhood is coming of age, and I believe that
growing up is one of those petrifying inevitable issues that life leaves us to face by ourselves.
Marieme, the protagonist played by Karidja Touré, eventually finds herself going through several
difficulties in a rough environment. Unconfident about her choices in life, Marieme struggles
constantly until she discovers her inner strengths. French screenwriter, and film director, Céline
Sciamma, introduces the coming of age theme by screening different stylistic choices Marieme goes

Many parts of the film were confusing unless you took the time to pause and think about the concepts
of certain scenes, as many were needed to re watch it to fully understand. The movie being French had
nothing to do with my confusion in fact, I think that the movie being French is what allowed me to
give it a half more than my original rate. Although I found the message of the film to be a bit foggy, I
have to admit that it has a very magnificent message when you follow up with it. Losing yourself is a
very difficult situation to deal with, especially if at the moment you allow your heart to believe that
the people you re standing by now are the people that can satisfy your social happiness. Marieme
learning from her faults is an excellent example of how we should keep our fighting spirits up and
never give up on anything or anyone we love. The harsh truth is; sometimes that person we forget to
cut some slack, and or to love through all their faults is ourselves. Once we learn to overcome that, the
wonders of the world will be inevitable to occur

Project Report On Signal Boosting Using Small Cells Essay
Executive Summary This project report helps to understand the project on SIGNAL BOOSTING
USING SMALL CELLS. The main aim of this project is to enhance the signal strength of a carrier
network in areas where there will be low network coverage in and around MSU. This can be achieved
using small cells which acts as network boosters. Thus, people can make use of this product despite of
low network. Each small cell is able to boost signal of a particular carrier, so different small cells are
used for different carriers. This project is planned not to work continuously but only when required. If
there are events in university, then we can set up the equipment and run the service. For better
understanding of the project, it is divided into smaller sections, each section is described clearly,
which adds to the overall project. There are specific deliverables for each section which explains in
depth about the planning, developing, controlling, and executing of project. Project Charter This
document tells formally the existence of the project and gives direction for the project s objective and
management. The project manager has the major role in creating the project charter. This is the key
output of the initiation process. It consists of budget information, project objective, main success

Force Awakens Vs Rogue One Analysis
#1 Draft Pick: Force Awakens Over Rogue One When you think of the number one draft pick, the
majority of the time football comes to mind. Well, this is not in this case. The number one draft is the
Star Wars movie which is the seventh movie in the series. That one fairs far better than the antithetical
film Rogue One. The Force Awakens occurs thirty years after the Galactic Empire is defeated. The
galaxy is faced with a new threat from an evil villain named Kylo Ren and also the First Order which
is a military dictatorship. A defector stormtrooper FN2817 also known as Finn escapes the realm of

For both movies, it is a little confusing in the beginning because of the new characters in the
beginning of the movies and you just jump right into the plot line. The Force Awakens plot line seems
to make more sense throughout the movie and it s easier to understand if you have watched the other
movies. It has the same characters as the previous movies but there are a few new characters. In The
Force Awakens, the movie takes place at least 20 years after Return of the Jedi. Princess Leia and Han
Solo have a son together, and becomes evi. Rogue One has new characters in it and doesn t fit as well
as it should because of the new characters, which makes it a little more complicated to follow along
with since there is a lot of new characters to keep track of. When watching the movies, watching them
in order by movie number is ideal. Rogue One fits in after the Empire Strikes Back and before Return
of the Jedi because the plot line places the movie in that time period. The Force Awakens fits in after
Return of the Jedi because that is what the timeline places the movie

Route 66 Analysis
Erttttt. As I slammed on brakes in theupcoming chaotic traffic. Maybe I should get off on the next exit

Route 66. As many people think that the Interstate is an easy quick way to get from where they was to
where they need to be at; others may think it is terrible and drains their time so they take other
highways. If you are like some out of many you want something calm and collective; not busy and
chaotic. Many people think that they should go 80 to 90 miles per hour when they should only be
going 70 miles per hour or lower which to me seems like it would reduce many of the outraging
wrecks we have today. There has been an astounding 50,765 wrecks and counting that has happened

Galena s haunted Bordello, Marsh rainbow arch bridge, Baxter Springs, and so many other astonishing
attractions. It is not always about what you see when you are driving it about making memories with

Theme Of The Book Thief
An Analysis of Developing Themes Inside Markus Zusak s The Book Thief Growing up isn t easy.
Growing up in a war infested environment with the constant threat of being bombed, terrorized, or
taken away isn t a walk in the park either. Liesel Meminger was only nine years old when her
suffering began. Markus Zusak s The Book Thief unravels in antebellum Germany, in the small town
of Molching. Within the first few pages, the main protagonist, Liesel, witnesses the death of brother
and is abandoned by her mother, leaving two complete strangers to nurture and raise her. Throughout
the several hardships Liesel faces, three main concurrent themes are evident: the power of words,
humanity s evils, and loss with survivor s guilt. Writing can be ... Show more content on

This is an example of humanity s evils because Hitler had gone so far that even Death himself was
stunned and surprised at Hitler s murderous intent. Another example of dehumanization would be
Hitler s view of Jews. It is evident that Hitler didn t see the Jews as actual people, and proceeded to
kill them without a second thought. The fact that eleven million people lost their life because of Adolf
Hitler is proof of his lack of humanity. Everyone is bound to die sometime. The narrator of The Book
Thief is Death, who appears whenever someone is close to death and has immortality, unlike humans.
Loss is an existing theme in the story because throughout the story, Liesel experiences many different
cases of loss first hand. At the very beginning of the book, Liesel watches her brother die in front of
her own eyes, while also losing her mother. The impact of loss is especially great when the bombing
comes. Liesel finds her best friend, Rudy, dead, as well as her foster parents. She is also overwhelmed
by the fact that there is a high chance Max is gone forever. Even after being confronted with such loss
at a young age, she keeps living and stays with Ilsa Hermann. Survivor s guilt is also apparent in the
book because it lives in both Liesel and Hans Hubermann. Liesel not only feels this guilt after the
bombing, but throughout the whole book as well. She is traumatized after she loses her own brother
and after

Progeria And Eukaryotic Analysis
Progeria is a rare disease that affects the nuclear envelope (lamina), and makes the nucleus unstable. It
is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene that produces an abnormal protein. This abnormal protein
is called progerin, and it causes the process of premature ageing in an individual.
Eukaryotic cells contain a sphere shaped nucleus that protects the genetic information (DNA) and
separates it from the cytoplasm. The nucleus itself is protected by a double membrane called, the
nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope is made up of nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and
nuclear pore complexes. The nuclear lamina is the sturdy protein that gives the nucleus its structure
and shape. As well as providing structural support, the nuclear lamina is required for most nuclear
activities, such as chromatin organization, DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, nuclear positioning
within the cell, assembly/disassembly of the nucleus during cell division, as well as for modulating
master regulatory genes and signaling pathways. (Baek, McKenna, Eriksson; 2013) The ability of the
cell to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Progeria Research Foundation; 2003) Normally, the amino acid produced is lamin A, but when
progerin is produced it gains a high liking for the nuclear membrane, causing disruptions to the
nuclear lamina. Without lamin A, the nuclear lamina cannot provide the structural support for the
nuclear envelope, causing it to take on an abnormal shape. This causes a huge strain for cell division;
without the support that the nuclear lamina usually provides, the organization of chromatin for mitosis
is disrupted and cell division is limited. When cells use progerin, they start to break down easier.
Progerin builds up in many cells of the individuals, causing them to grow up faster than normal.
Because of this the rate of ageing is 8 10 times faster than

The Fight Against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract...
Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery
through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract
Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling
urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But this
has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for new
ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a result, the
American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse specialists is
working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program developed an evidence
based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how health facilities can work
together to improve the quality of service delivery through good management, as well as evaluation of
its implication on performance, training, and future nursing practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical
Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards
quality improvement in catheter associated urinary tract contagions.

indicate that CAUTI is the high prevalence healthcare associated infection variety; hence it accounts

Our society upholds the notion of egalitarianism. However, there are few aspects of our society that
causes this notion to be flawed. For instance, the workplace is a setting where the egalitarian notion
isn t apparent. Despite the fact that our society upholds an egalitarian idealism, there are still barriers
that exists in the workplace for women. To this, these barriers restrict women from maintaining a
leading role in the workforce. Stereotypically, women in our society are expected to bear children and
to maintain a role as a caregiver. Due to stereotypical roles and views of women, women are
consequently being discriminated and restricted from opportunities in the workplace. Behind the
workplace, gender bias is clearly apparent. When looking at applicants for a job, men are usually hired
over the women because men maintain more physical abilities than women. Thus, women are hardly
ever chosen for a job due to the stereotypical views of women possessing physical incapabilities. A
workplace may use equipment designed with the heights and weights of men in mind, since the work
traditionally has been men s work (Bartlett 2). Because women are stereotypically viewed as weak
individuals who don t exhibit the capability of having a job, it is believed that a woman s place is in
the home. Moreover, women are seen as individuals that need to be protected by men. Thus, women
aren t usually hired for laborious work and remain at home. To this, men are stereotypically the

Multinational Corporations And Its Impact On Workers Essay
Multinational Corporations Affect Workers In the text, International Political Economy, Thomas
Oatley and Debates: In Praise of Cheap Labor: Bad Jobs at Bad Wages Are Better than No Jobs at All
explain to their readers the different aspects of the political economy. This paper will begin by looking
at multinational corporations. Next, the paper will analyze the strengthens and weakness on
multinational corporations and its affect on workers. Lastly, the paper will give a personal evaluation
on whether the author (s) are convincing or if they are missing certain information. Multinational
corporations occupy a prominent role in the global economy. In the beginning, they emerged as
significant and enduring components in the international economy in the nineteenth century. Great
Britain was considered one of the largest capital exporting country during that century. By the year
2008, the number of these corporations was eleven times the number in operation in the early 1980s.
Ultimately, the number of MNCs continue to grow within the world s economy. The decision that
these firms make are based on global strategies for corporate success. They are not focused on the
conditions within any of these countries in which these firms conduct their business in. Multinational
corporations work simultaneously in national political systems and global market. Multinational
corporations can place multiple production facilities in multiple countries under the control of a single

Analysis Of `` Under The Influence `` By Scott Russell...
When we analyze Scott Russell Sanders memoir Under the Influence, using the notion of betrayal
Patricia Hampl establishes in her memoir Other People s Secret, we discover that Under the Influence,
rather than being a breach of trust, is instead Sanders attempt to redeem his drunkard dad s character.
Patricia Hampl, in her memoir, recounts what she calls betrayals that she has committed against
people ranging from her friends to someone as close as her own mother whom she writes about in her
works. This betrayal often involves her inconsiderately revealing something about them, which they
think is detrimental to their image: for example, Hampl revealing her mother s epilepsy, an illness her
mother had kept secret from the outside world, in her poem. Under the Influence has a similar context;
Sanders also reveals his family s long standing secret that his father was a chronic drunkard. However,
despite the revelation, Sander seems to focus on portraying his father not as an alcoholic but as
someone afflicted by the disease of alcoholism. He tries to convince readers that his father was unlike
other drunkards and focuses on his father s character rather than on the morality of his drinking habit.
In light of this, can we contend that Under the Influence is a betrayal committed by Sanders towards
his father and his family? In this paper, I will scrutinize Hampl s perception of betrayal and use it to
analyze this question. I will also examine the possibility that

Meaning Of Metaphysical Poetry
INTRODUCTION The word meta means after and so in simple terms , metaphysical means after
physical . Metaphysics cover a wide range of topics from religious to consciousness. It is all about
exploration and philosophy. Samuel Johnson first coined the term metaphysical poetry in his book
lives of the most eminent English poets. Metaphysical poetry can be divided broadly in two parts.
They are love poems and religious poems. The habit of writing both these type of poetry is derived
from John Donne , who in his first phase of life wrote love poems in during his later life wrote
religious poems. The metaphysical poets are known for their ability to surprise the reader with the
help of conceit, paradoxical images, colloquial language, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example in the poem, The definition of love , the poet makes a series of paradoxical assertions that
pose a riddle. It invites the reader to identify the nature of the love of which its speaks. The early
stanza suggest love for god. The second half is related to love between man and woman.
We can also see allegory in Marvell s poetry. One such example is Bermudas . Bermuda is an
allegorical poem of forty iambic tetrameters rhyming in couplets. The poem is in 3 parts a four line
introduction describing a small boat; a central section of 32 lines consisting of the song sung by the
sailors on the boat , in which the Bermudas are represented as an earthly eden and again a four line
conclusion. Bermuda is an island in the West Indies. They were often referred to as earthly paradise in
the early seventeenth century. Again the image from the small boat to the song plays with two
traditions. A) In Homer s Odyssey , Odysseus is advised that if he wishes to sail past the sirens safely
he must plug his men s ears with the help of wax and have himself tied to the mast so that he is not
seduced by the charm of their choices. B) In Petrarchan lyrics, a man s life is often likened to a ship
sailing through storms until he can reach the harbor the love of his mistress

Modern Chicano Theater, By Luis Valdez Is Best Known As...
Ibrahim Aldosaimani Luis Valdez 1940 Considered the originator of modern Chicano theater, Valdez
is best known as the founding director of El Teatro Campesino, a seminal grassroots theater group
initially formed to convince California migrant farmworkers of the value of unionization. Valdez, who
writes some works in English and others in a blend of English and Spanish, is credited with having
provided momentum to the Chicano theater movement through his highly vivid style and his ability to
place the Chicano experience within a universal American framework. BIOGRAPHICAL
INFORMATION Born into a family of migrant farmworkers in Delano, California, Valdez began
working in the fields at six years of age. Although his education was frequently interrupted by his
family s constant travel, Valdez finished high school and subsequently attended San Jose State
College. After graduating in 1964 Valdez joined the San Francisco Mime Troupe, from which he
gained an appreciation of agitprop theater, which makes use of political agitation and propaganda to
protest social injustice. Valdez returned to Delano in 1965 to assist César Chávez and the United
Farmworkers Union in their efforts to unionize migrant workers. There Valdez organized the strikers
into a performing group to dramatize the exploitation of farmworkers and to demonstrate the necessity
of unionization for their financial survival. In 1967 Valdez and El Teatro Campesino began touring
nationally, expanding their focus on the

The Implications of Ozone Depletion on Human Health Essay
The Implications of Ozone Depletion on Human Health
Introduction Hairspray. Refrigerators. Air conditioners. These everyday luxuries, while making human
life more comfortable, are taxing our health seriously. Clorofluorocarbons, or CFCs, are
anthropogenic chemicals used in refrigerants and as propellants in aerosols. CFCs, also known as
freons, are also the primary culprit behind the depletion of stratospheric ozone, which allows harmful
ultraviolet rays to reach the Earth and its inhabitants.
When CFC molecules reach the stratosphere, the sun s radiation breaks it apart, freeing the chorine
atom to destroy ozone molecules. The effect is a growing ozone hole which forms over Antarctica in

a reddening, and sometimes blistering, of human skin. The sensitivity to radiation depends on each
individual s pigmentation, with fairer skinned people being more susceptible to sunburn. As a result of
frequent UV light exposure and sunburn, the skin experiences photoaging, which is characterized by
wrinkles, altered pigmentation, and a loss of elasticity in the skin. This is simply an increase in the
aging of skin cells brought on by UV exposure, and this photoaging of human skin will increase as
ozone levels decrease.
SKIN CANCER
One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. For the year 1999, one million cases
of skin cancer have been predicted. The two most common forms of skin cancer are basal cell
carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Carcinomas are cancers which originate in the cells that
cover an organ. These cancers are also referred to as nonmelanoma cancers. Basal cell carcinoma is
the most common type of skin cancer. It appears as small, fleshy bumps, eighty percent of which are
found on the head and neck. Basal cell carcinoma rarely spreads, but if left untreated, can possibly
penetrate to and damage the bone. Squamous cell carcinoma appears as red scaly patches or nodules.
This form of nonmelanoma cancer, while less common, can metastasize, or spread to other organs.
Both squamous and basal cell carcinoma are rarely found on dark skinned people, and are very
common among Caucasians,

Selfishness In A Monster Calls By Patrick Ness
Selfishness, a quality that best shines in times of isolation, forces others to become aware of one s
need for attention. Patrick Ness portrays this trait in A Monster Calls in a way that makes the readers
realize that the burden of a secret is too great for anyone of any age to carry. Conor O Malley is
thirteen, but his experiences and hardships are ones that those who are beyond their years have not
necessarily needed to overcome. Taking into account his mother s worsening condition, he does not
want to let his surroundings affect him more than they already have. Under the influence of the
Monster, Conor allows himself to act in accordance to his situation instead of keeping everything to
himself without an outlet for his emotions. Conor s selfishness, which is seen throughout the novel,
affects his interactions with others in drawing out their flaws. To retaliate against his father, Lily and
his grandma for putting him in situations that cause him suffering, Conor must act in this selfish
manner regardless of the consequences.
Beginning with his father, Conor witnesses how a parent can be unwilling to give their all for their
children and acts selfishly in order to make him aware of this fact. He faces a reality of life at the time
of his parent s divorce; there was nothing he could do to keep them together. As a result, the bond he
has with his father is imperfect. There is a clear barrier between the two that emerges from the
distance that separates them. Even as Conor yearns for a proper parent figure in his life, he is unable to
have one and he allows himself to act selfishly towards his father because he will eventually be the
only parent Conor has left. By confessing to his father that he does not want to live with grandma
(Ness, 88) and asking his father questions about why can t [he] come and live with (Ness, 88) him,
Conor wants his father to own up to his responsibilities as a parent. Despite being aware his wishes
will not be granted, but he wants his father to realize how less he commits to caring for his son when
he needs him the most. If all his father wants to do is make promises to only break them, then he
might as well push his father to his limits and demand things from him regardless

Persuasive Essay On Football Predictionss
There are a lot of people who rely on football predictions to be able to gain an edge in football
gambling. But how exactly are these predictions formulated?
Before you do anything else (before you put any money at stake) make sure that you know what you
re doing and what you re getting into. If you really want to get into football gambling, it would be best
if you would read about the subject matter first before you start betting on any team.
The internet is teeming with information on the subject. You can search for articles and websites that
would be able to help you learn more about the subject. This would also let you in on some tricks of
the trade. The more knowledge that you have the more chances you get of making a good bet. Also,

These predictions would tell them about what exactly could happen in the next game. Based on these

clients that there are no guarantees that their predictions are really going to happen. So it will be up to
you if you re going to bet according to their predictions.
These handicappers are taking a great deal of effort and putting in a lot of time to study each and every
player s move. They also take a look at the teams performances. The handicapper bases his predictions
about the outcome of the game on these factors. They would do a matchup of the team s strengths and
weaknesses and also take into consideration their performance in the previous games. It really is a

Leopold Mozart Essay
Leopold Mozart
The rain poured down hard, flooding the suburban streets of Vienna. Thunder roared all around the
funeral procession on December 6,
1791, as it laboriously headed for St. Marx Cemetery. As it reached the city walls of Vienna, the few
friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned back, due to the unusually bad
weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had
begun his life with such immeasurable promise. On
January 27, 1756, Leopold Mozart paced up and down the hall of his home in Salzburg, Austria, in
anticipation of the arrival of his seventh child. His wife, Anna Maria, had given birth to a boy:

After three years of monotony with an occasional commission, the twenty year old musician had no
more to hope for from life in the provinces and reached the decision: he would leave Salzburg. Mozart
felt he could breathe again as he set off from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be
acknowledged by the world at large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to
Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial problems he was facing.
In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young singer Aloysia
Weber. Leopold was aghast, Aloysia was the daughter of a lowly copyist and member of the chorus at
the court theater, this match seemed disastrous. Mozart s father resorted to emotional blackmail to get
him out of Mannheim and into
Paris where he could take on pupils. It seems that Mozart did pay heed and set off with his mother for
Paris on March
13, 1778. In Paris, everything seemed to be going well until
Anna Maria was struck down by a fever and fell into a coma. Her death on July 3rd left Mozart
grieving and in isolation. He reluctantly returned to Salzburg full of dread, and was greeted by his
father with these words: If your mother had come back home from Mannheim, she would not have
died... You would have got to Paris at a better time... and my poor wife would still be (alive) in
Salzburg.

Problems of Jersey Shore startfrom casting. There is not one single person outside this race, and the
show represents the people living in New Jersey horribly. MTV s other reality TV show The Real
World also seems to have a prerequisite for casting too. Even Survivor seemed to be racist by dividing
teams up according to race, naming a black team and white team. Sexuality in reality shows isone of
the biggest problems. There are shows like Rock of Love Bus or Jersey Shore that are all about sex
and the consumption of alcohol. Those kinds of shows tend to focus too much on sexual relationships
with drinking involved. The entire story of Jersey Shore is about the craziness of those people in the

Silicon Based PV Cells
CHAPTER 2 SILICON BASED PV CELLS 2 2.1 Doping Procedure of Silicon based PV Cells A
Silicon solar PV Cell is a device which is made up of semiconductor materials that produce electricity
when exposed to light energy. [1] The doping process of a Silicon based PV Cell works by the
photovoltaic material converting the light energy, photons, it absorbs into electrical energy. [1] Light
(Photon) Energy  Electrical Energy Using a doping process, a p n junction is created in silicon as
shown below: From the image above the photons, light energy, prompt the electrons flowing from the
n junction to the p junction creating an electric current flow. [1] This is highlighted below: The
process of doping involves the addition of atoms with different number of electrons so it creates an
unbalanced number of electrons on the material that is being doped, in this case Silicon. [1] The
material being doped, in this case Silicon will carry a negative charge if the base material absorbs
excessive electrons. However, if the base material, Silicon, absorbs to little electrons then the material
will carry a positive charge. [1] To achieve a doped material, using Silicon then there are 2 methods:
Ion implantation of diffusion. These methods are carried out using Boron (B) to form a positively
charged doped material and Arsenide (As) or Phosphorus (P) to form a negatively charged doped
material. This is shown below: Ion Implantation can be achieved at room temperature for

Germania, Beowulf, And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
The Germanics have a king as their ruler that is chosen by birth. The king does what he feels is the
best for the people and the people respect the ideas of the king, there is a mutual respect. We can see in
Germania, Beowulf, and in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight evidence of the mutual respect that is
shared between the king and his people. Tacitus shares with us that obedience is not forced by the
king, but rather given from respect of the people to show their honor; King Hrothgar shows
compassion to other men in need that is then given back to him; and King Arthur converts to
Christianity that allowed for a spiritual example to set for his people that they follow. In Germania,
written by Tacitus, the Germanic government and leadership are more based on the character of honor,
which is led by example rather than strict ruling that is just enforced by the king. Tacitus states, These
kings have not unlimited or arbitrary power, and the generals do more by example than by authority .
If a Germanic king shows a great vigor, if they are obvious or easy to notice, if they battle in the front
of the lines, then they lead because they are admired by the people. The people have a war passion
when it is time for battle. A chief should not be exceeded in courage when in the face of danger, yet
they must rise to the same amount of courage as the chief shows during the battle. The worst quality
that can be displayed is disappointment, if a warrior survives the chief then

Circular Organisational Structure Standard circular organisational structure shows the business CEO

advantage as it means that if the CEO decides to make any modifications in the procedures of the

who report to him because of his/her decision. However, it could also be a disadvantage on the CEOs

making is passed down the hierarchy with each layer having more people to command and this may
mean that information passed from the top may be tampered with or lost easily and this is a
disadvantage. Furthermore, it will be very hard for the manager of each department to keep track on
everything their employees are doing and this may lead to a fault somewhere in the system. There is a

The CPG 101 follows an elementary process to better understand the planning and decision making
process. This provides planners the ability to produce plans that take the potential hazards and threats
for a given region into account and complete a comprehensive plan. FEMA s ultimate goal with the
CPG 101 looks to standardize and simplify the process to assist EOP authors in the development of
viable plans that addresses all hazards and threats.
National Incident Management System
The CPG 101 incorporates the concepts of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) into the
planning guide. NIMS is the result of Homeland Security Directive Five. The directive came from
President Bush February 28, 2003. The goal of NIMS was to offer a necessary foundation for
emergency management to identify, prepare, respond and recover in any emergent situation. The
approach and vocabulary established with NIMS remains the same nationwide to ensure consistency.
Knoxville s Plan
At first glance, Knoxville s EOP is a seemingly simple document but the further you read into it you
quickly discover how comprehensive it is. The plan describes how local government, first responders
and agencies including the American Red Cross and Salvation Army will respond. The plan also
addresses these organizations roles once the transition from response to recovery occurs.
The plan continues into outlining what individual citizens need to do to prepare for a disaster. This

Values and Standards in Kushner s Angels in America Essays
What does Kushner propose about religious/personal standards, and are those standards valuable or do
they cause difficulties? Many people today have a set of religious or personal standards that has aided

standards of perfection but end up living miserable lives. This essay will discuss the possible
standards of Joe and Roy implied in the play, Angels in America by Tony Kushner, while discussing
how they can be both valuable and questionable. Kushner implies that religious ideals act as

The Environment And Environmental Pollution
The environment molds plant and animal life, but over the past century humans have been able to alter
the environment. This change caused problems to the earth pollution to the earth, air, and water
sources. Pollution extends to the animals, vegetation, and humans as well. These damages are mostly
irreversible, and continue at a rapid pace. Pesticides are a large factor in this pollution. The earth can
adjust to these chemicals, but not fast enough. Every year 500 new synthetic chemicals are introduced.
Continuing to use these chemicals can be harmful to the future generations. The public is not informed
about the consequences of these chemicals, and must find out on their own. All humans will come in
contact with these chemicals. Chemical residues are everywhere: water sources, soil, and humans. The
production began during World War II, and is rapidly increasing. DDT, an organic phosphorus
insecticide, once thought to be harmless and used to help with lice during WWII, is now known to be
harmful. Other pesticides can cause harmful health problems. The body can naturally protect against
these chemicals but repeated doses weaken the body. Though many of these chemicals have been
banned in other countries because of the hazards the United States continue to have no restrictions.

Consumer Behavior Process
INTRODUCTION Consumer behavior is considered as the mental and emotional process and the
observing behavior of consumers during searching, purchasing and post consumption of a product or
service. Consumer behavior involves study of what they buy, why they buy, how they buy, and when
they buy (Gupta Shallu, 2013). From various sources, the past experience and state of mind, the
consumer may determine the impact that advertising has on him/her. In an effort to improve
messaging and to gain the audience s attention, advertisers create some special moments to resonate
the mind of the target customer and motivate the audience to purchase the advertised product or
service (Chakrabortty, Hossain, Azad, Jakirul, 2013). The value of studying the consumer behavior is
that it gives vital information to an organization for designing an effective marketing strategy. The

The Battle of Fredericksburg Essay
The Battle of Fredericksburg falls in a long list of failures of the Army of the Potomac during the first
year of the American Civil War. Following the Battle of Antietam the Northern Army had the
opportunity to defeat Lee s army. However, Northerners, were shocked by Lee s escape following this
battle on 17 September 1862, and were further upset by Major General George B. McClellan s
procrastination in pursuing Lee and allowing General J.E.B. Stuarts daring cavalry raid into
Pennsylvania around Gettysburg (10 12 October 1862). McClellan s failure to pursue Lee s Army is
mainly due to his own lack of confidence, believing that he doesn t have enough men or material in
order to defeat the Army of Virginia. President Lincoln had finally ... Show more content on

Lincoln felt that the destruction of Lee s army should be the primary goal, not the capture of a
Southern city, however, he approved Burnside s plan. This was mainly due to the fact that Burnside
was actually moving the army in pursuit of Lee. Burnside s first act as commander was to divide his
army into three grand divisions, the right commanded by Major General Sumner, the center
commanded by Major General Hooker, and the left commanded by Major General Franklin. Once this
was completed he set forth for Virginia with a compliment of 100,000 men.
General Lee had at his disposal two army Corps, the First Corps was commanded by Lieutenant
General James Longstreet and the Second Corps was commanded by Lieutenant General Thomas
Jackson. Both of these corps comprised of 35,000 men for a total of 70,000 men. After leaving
Maryland, Lee decided to divide his army by sending the Second Corps to the Shenandoah Valley
towards Winchester Virginia and the other towards Culpeper station Virginia in order to see what the
North was going to do. The Confederate cavalry were a little slow in detecting the move of Sumter s
grand division, and it was three days before Lee knew about it and could order Longstreet to intercept
the Federals. This allowed the first elements of Northern forces to arrive at Falmouth two days after

Louis-Poxy In Javouchey s
Despite Javouhey s initial fears and concerns about the July Revolution, the July Monarchy ultimately
benefited her interests. Curtis suggests that for the July Monarchy, that took a harder stance against the
slave trade than its predecessor, yet, fearing recapture and rebellion, was reluctant to release slaves to
Africa and the slave colonies, Mana was a safe and reasonable solution that nicely aligned with their
ideals. In Paris, Javouhey championed for her project during audiences with Louis Philippe and Marie
Amélie, both of whom supported her and her cause. Amazed by Javouhey s humility and force, Louis
Philippe reportedly told his entourage, Mme Javouhey! mais c est un grand homme! During her battles

She argues that although the founding members of female religious orders were often close . . . four
women who were sisters in blood, as well as religion, made for a particularly united front. This unity
inevitably contributed to both the congregation and the colony s success. Javouhey s brother, Pierre
Javouhey, and her cousins, Louis and Léopold Javouhey, all accompanied her to French Guiana.
Javouhey attempted to place her male relatives in positions that provided her with allies while giving
them work. For example, in 1839, she wrote to the Minister of the Navy, naming Louis Javouhey and
his two sons as her aides. Javouhey s use of family structure to accomplish her goals extended beyond
her blood. During both her attempts at colonizing Mana, in her letters and reports, she frequently
referred to the colonists as members of [her] family. Commenting on the utility and authority familial
Consequently,
Javouhey both addressed and treated the slaves under her authority as her adoptive children. As the
mother of the slaves, Javouhey exercised considerable influence and authority over and instilled
loyalty within them. By December of 1828, mere months after her arrival in French Guiana, she noted
that if anyone outside of the Sœurs de Saint Joseph de Cluny were to attempt to replace her at Mana, it
would be difficult because les colons ne veulent que nous pour chefs. After the abolition

The Importance Of Moving To American Culture
Even moving to a new house can be a little nerve racking. Will there be enough space? How will the
community be? These are all questions that can go through a person s mind when moving. Now think,
how about moving to a new country, with a new language, and having to bring kids. It would be a
much more intense experience, like the one of Michelle Pique. She moved from france to america in
1993, around the age of 40. She already had 3 kids, none of them knowing english. In france, her
husband, Joel, worked for a cheese company called Alouette. That was the whole reason they moved
to America in the first place.
Joel was getting a promotion that required all of his family to move to America. Prior to them moving,
they all took a trip

  • 2. History, Mission And Philosophy Of The Organization History, Mission and Philosophy of the Organization or Board of Directors: The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses was established in 2006, but was not always known as APHON. Before the title APHON, it used to be just APON because hematology was not included when it was first founded in 1974. APON was established in 1974 when Oncology nurses decided that they needed to have their own association to discuses their research and outcomes with other Oncology nurses from around the United States. As their organization grew they realized that blood disorders played a major role in cancer, thus creating the title we know of today as APHON. APHON s mission is to not only to assist and excel Hem/Onc nurses, but also to help amplify the opportunistic outcomes of their adolescent patients. APHON s vision to be overall recognized as the prime leader in hematology/oncology nursing from their infants all the way up to their young adults is what keeps them reaching for success everyday. President or other Governing Information: APHON s 2015 2017 presidency winner, who has also been a APHON member since 1989, is Kathleen Ruccione. Ruccione has been the president for almost a year now and says to have enjoyed every bit of it. At first glance, most people will not understand the many themes that this particular film has. After carefully examining the film the viewers may find the hidden themes in the film that will be explained in this analysis. Themes that will discuss are humanity, revolt, and master of your fate. There are many sub themes within the film but this particular analysis, it is the crucial focus on these themes because it helps develop the central plot and conflict with in the film. The first theme that will discuss is humanity. The whole plot of the movie focuses on preserving humanity or what s left of it. After global warming had destroyed the earth and making unsuitable for any living creature to survive the Conductor train made that makes an around trip cross the earth to try to preserve humanity. Even though he was ridiculed about his theories and his plan to save humanity he still went ahead with plans and end up saving what was left of humanity. Throughout the movie, many of the characters humanity was tested. Even though the Conductor saved humanity he sectioned off the train by class. The lower class was placed in the last cart of the train. They were treated horribly and were supplied with the basic necessity of living. • 4. Examples Of Mistreatment And Inequality In The 13th Amendment Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States (Lantigua Williams). As stated in the constitution, the Thirteenth amendment states that no person can be treated as a slave; the exception to this statement is the fact that the revision to the constitution says that anyone who is convicted of a crime can be treated like a slave. African Americans have been oppressed since they were brought over from Africa; consequently, they are constantly fighting the war on racism and having numerous struggles to overcome. The 13th shows in detail the different forms of mistreatment and inequality that people of color experience. Ava Duverney uses exceptional historical evidence, different forms of media, and expert advice to show that ever since the passage of the Thirteenth amendment, there has been an increase in the incarceration statistics of African Americans. Ironically, the United States is commonly called the land of the free, but five out of twenty five percent of the world s population is incarcerated in the American prison system (Filmmaker). Duverney s main topic that she focuses on in her film is the loophole that was present in the Thirteenth amendment. To avoid a public display of slavery, the police force arrested people, particularly African American men, based on false accusations or for minor offenses. On April 19, 1989, three teenagers were accused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Comparison of Animal Rights Texts Comparison of Animal Rights Texts I am going to compare two pieces of text called: It s a crying shame and Sorry, but I think dying people are more important than dumb animals, by an Animal Rights Group and Polly Toynbee respectively. The first article is intended to appeal to a younger audience who think that killing animals is wrong because they are cute etc. The second extract is aimed at adults who are interested in the welfare of human beings. The Animal Aid leaflet is persuasive as it is trying to pledge donations to stop animal experiments. I find this rather effective and it would catch my eye if I glanced at the article and draw my attention towards reading it. On the Animal Rights Leaflet there is a main image of a dog on the front, which I think appears to be crying. This looks the part and the dog really does look sad. This attracts attention as if the dog was crying for help. The use of colour is used well as the picture of the dog is a golden brown shade, which is very attractive I would say. People will instantly want to read this leaflet because of the expression on the dog s face. On the back of the leaflet there is picture of a mouse with some sort of growth coming off its side, I suspect that this is a tumour of some sorts. Personally I don t find this disturbing but a vast majority of the public will do and will never want that to happen again so they will want to pledge money to help stop animal experimentation. There is another picture of a monkey of some sorts and it appears to be very sad as if it has been tortured etc. I think the choice of pictures on this leaflet is rather good and will help put the point across to the reader. The newspaper articles picture is very plain and boring. It is just a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we re living our life, sooner or later we ll have to confront one event where it will make us reevaluate our life choices and it will be considered as an epiphany. This emotional turmoil is one of the issues, if not, the biggest reason Winter Dreams is such a treat to most readers. Winter Dreams was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, an American author born in Saint Paul, MN in 1896, and deceased in December 21, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. During these 44 years Fitzgerald s works achieved an enormous recognition and appreciation from the public, to the point where these works became staples in today s literature with stories like The Great Gatsby, Winter Dreams, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. These pieces became staples in the American literature mainly because Fitzgerald developed an expertise to illustrate the Jazz Age in his artworks. For example, the way he describes the scenarios and the lavish life of the higher class in The Great Gatsby, and Winter Dreams. But what is truly intriguing about Fitzgerald s pieces is the subtle darkness he utilizes in his pieces. As we ll explore in Winter Dreams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28). Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet simplicity of a child s point of view and enhances Leo s personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1. p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees ... A main significant theme in Girlhood is coming of age, and I believe that growing up is one of those petrifying inevitable issues that life leaves us to face by ourselves. Marieme, the protagonist played by Karidja Touré, eventually finds herself going through several difficulties in a rough environment. Unconfident about her choices in life, Marieme struggles constantly until she discovers her inner strengths. Many parts of the film were confusing unless you took the time to pause and think about the concepts of certain scenes, as many were needed to re watch it to fully understand. Although I found the message of the film to be a bit foggy, I have to admit that it has a very magnificent message when you follow up with it. Losing yourself is a very difficult situation to deal with, especially if at the moment you allow your heart to believe that the people you re standing by now are the people that can satisfy your social happiness. Marieme learning from her faults is an excellent example of how we should keep our fighting spirits up and never give up on anything or anyone we love. The fact that eleven million people lost their life because of Adolf Hitler is proof of his lack of humanity. Everyone is bound to die sometime. The narrator of The Book Thief is Death, who appears whenever someone is close to death and has immortality, unlike humans. Loss is an existing theme in the story because throughout the story, Liesel experiences many different cases of loss first hand. • 18. Progeria And Eukaryotic Analysis Progeria is a rare disease that affects the nuclear envelope (lamina), and makes the nucleus unstable. It is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene that produces an abnormal protein. This abnormal protein is called progerin, and it causes the process of premature ageing in an individual. Eukaryotic cells contain a sphere shaped nucleus that protects the genetic information (DNA) and separates it from the cytoplasm. The nucleus itself is protected by a double membrane called, the nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope is made up of nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and nuclear pore complexes. The nuclear lamina is the sturdy protein that gives the nucleus its structure and shape. As well as providing structural support, the nuclear lamina is required for most nuclear activities, such as chromatin organization, DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, nuclear positioning within the cell, assembly/disassembly of the nucleus during cell division, as well as for modulating master regulatory genes and signaling pathways. (Progeria Research Foundation; 2003) Normally, the amino acid produced is lamin A, but when progerin is produced it gains a high liking for the nuclear membrane, causing disruptions to the nuclear lamina. Without lamin A, the nuclear lamina cannot provide the structural support for the nuclear envelope, causing it to take on an abnormal shape. This causes a huge strain for cell division; without the support that the nuclear lamina usually provides, the organization of chromatin for mitosis is disrupted and cell division is limited. When cells use progerin, they start to break down easier. Progerin builds up in many cells of the individuals, causing them to grow up faster than normal. Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But this has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for new ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a result, the American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse specialists is working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program developed an evidence based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how health facilities can work together to improve the quality of service delivery through good management, as well as evaluation of its implication on performance, training, and future nursing practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards quality improvement in catheter associated urinary tract contagions. For instance, the workplace is a setting where the egalitarian notion isn t apparent. Despite the fact that our society upholds an egalitarian idealism, there are still barriers that exists in the workplace for women. To this, these barriers restrict women from maintaining a leading role in the workforce. Stereotypically, women in our society are expected to bear children and to maintain a role as a caregiver. Due to stereotypical roles and views of women, women are consequently being discriminated and restricted from opportunities in the workplace. Behind the workplace, gender bias is clearly apparent. When looking at applicants for a job, men are usually hired over the women because men maintain more physical abilities than women. Thus, women are hardly ever chosen for a job due to the stereotypical views of women possessing physical incapabilities. A workplace may use equipment designed with the heights and weights of men in mind, since the work traditionally has been men s work (Bartlett 2). Because women are stereotypically viewed as weak individuals who don t exhibit the capability of having a job, it is believed that a woman s place is in the home. Moreover, women are seen as individuals that need to be protected by men. Thus, women aren t usually hired for laborious work and remain at home. To this, men are stereotypically the ... When we analyze Scott Russell Sanders memoir Under the Influence, using the notion of betrayal Patricia Hampl establishes in her memoir Other People s Secret, we discover that Under the Influence, rather than being a breach of trust, is instead Sanders attempt to redeem his drunkard dad s character. Patricia Hampl, in her memoir, recounts what she calls betrayals that she has committed against people ranging from her friends to someone as close as her own mother whom she writes about in her works. This betrayal often involves her inconsiderately revealing something about them, which they think is detrimental to their image: for example, Hampl revealing her mother s epilepsy, an illness her mother had kept secret from the outside world, in her poem. Under the Influence has a similar context; Sanders also reveals his family s long standing secret that his father was a chronic drunkard. However, despite the revelation, Sander seems to focus on portraying his father not as an alcoholic but as someone afflicted by the disease of alcoholism. He tries to convince readers that his father was unlike other drunkards and focuses on his father s character rather than on the morality of his drinking habit. In light of this, can we contend that Under the Influence is a betrayal committed by Sanders towards his father and his family? Under the influence of the Monster, Conor allows himself to act in accordance to his situation instead of keeping everything to himself without an outlet for his emotions. Conor s selfishness, which is seen throughout the novel, affects his interactions with others in drawing out their flaws. To retaliate against his father, Lily and his grandma for putting him in situations that cause him suffering, Conor must act in this selfish manner regardless of the consequences. Beginning with his father, Conor witnesses how a parent can be unwilling to give their all for their children and acts selfishly in order to make him aware of this fact. He faces a reality of life at the time of his parent s divorce; there was nothing he could do to keep them together. As a result, the bond he has with his father is imperfect. There is a clear barrier between the two that emerges from the distance that separates them. Even as Conor yearns for a proper parent figure in his life, he is unable to have one and he allows himself to act selfishly towards his father because he will eventually be the only parent Conor has left. By confessing to his father that he does not want to live with grandma (Ness, 88) and asking his father questions about why can t [he] come and live with (Ness, 88) him, Conor wants his father to own up to his responsibilities as a parent. Despite being aware his wishes will not be granted, but he wants his father to realize how less he commits to caring for his son when he needs him the most. If all his father wants to do is make promises to only break them, then he might as well push his father to his limits and demand things from him regardless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Leopold Mozart Essay Leopold Mozart The rain poured down hard, flooding the suburban streets of Vienna. Thunder roared all around the funeral procession on December 6, 1791, as it laboriously headed for St. Marx Cemetery. As it reached the city walls of Vienna, the few friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned back, due to the unusually bad weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had begun his life with such immeasurable promise. On January 27, 1756, Leopold Mozart paced up and down the hall of his home in Salzburg, Austria, in anticipation of the arrival of his seventh child. After three years of monotony with an occasional commission, the twenty year old musician had no more to hope for from life in the provinces and reached the decision: he would leave Salzburg. Mozart felt he could breathe again as he set off from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be acknowledged by the world at large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial problems he was facing. In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young singer Aloysia Weber. Leopold was aghast, Aloysia was the daughter of a lowly copyist and member of the chorus at the court theater, this match seemed disastrous. Mozart s father resorted to emotional blackmail to get him out of Mannheim and into Paris where he could take on pupils. It seems that Mozart did pay heed and set off with his mother for Paris on March 13, 1778. In Paris, everything seemed to be going well until Anna Maria was struck down by a fever and fell into a coma. Her death on July 3rd left Mozart grieving and in isolation. He reluctantly returned to Salzburg full of dread, and was greeted by his father with these words: If your mother had come back home from Mannheim, she would not have died... You would have got to Paris at a better time... and my poor wife would still be (alive) in Salzburg. With this sad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Silicon Based PV Cells CHAPTER 2 SILICON BASED PV CELLS 2 2.1 Doping Procedure of Silicon based PV Cells A Silicon solar PV Cell is a device which is made up of semiconductor materials that produce electricity when exposed to light energy. [1] The doping process of a Silicon based PV Cell works by the photovoltaic material converting the light energy, photons, it absorbs into electrical energy. [1] Light (Photon) Energy  Electrical Energy Using a doping process, a p n junction is created in silicon as shown below: From the image above the photons, light energy, prompt the electrons flowing from the n junction to the p junction creating an electric current flow. [1] This is highlighted below: The process of doping involves the addition of atoms with different number of electrons so it creates an unbalanced number of electrons on the material that is being doped, in this case Silicon. [1] The material being doped, in this case Silicon will carry a negative charge if the base material absorbs excessive electrons. However, if the base material, Silicon, absorbs to little electrons then the material will carry a positive charge. [1] To achieve a doped material, using Silicon then there are 2 methods: Ion implantation of diffusion. These methods are carried out using Boron (B) to form a positively charged doped material and Arsenide (As) or Phosphorus (P) to form a negatively charged doped material. This is shown below: Ion Implantation can be achieved at room temperature for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The king does what he feels is the best for the people and the people respect the ideas of the king, there is a mutual respect. We can see in Germania, Beowulf, and in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight evidence of the mutual respect that is shared between the king and his people. Tacitus shares with us that obedience is not forced by the king, but rather given from respect of the people to show their honor; King Hrothgar shows compassion to other men in need that is then given back to him; and King Arthur converts to Christianity that allowed for a spiritual example to set for his people that they follow. In Germania, written by Tacitus, the Germanic government and leadership are more based on the character of honor, which is led by example rather than strict ruling that is just enforced by the king. Tacitus states, These kings have not unlimited or arbitrary power, and the generals do more by example than by authority . If a Germanic king shows a great vigor, if they are obvious or easy to notice, if they battle in the front of the lines, then they lead because they are admired by the people. The people have a war passion when it is time for battle. • 42. Consumer Behavior Process INTRODUCTION Consumer behavior is considered as the mental and emotional process and the observing behavior of consumers during searching, purchasing and post consumption of a product or service. Consumer behavior involves study of what they buy, why they buy, how they buy, and when they buy (Gupta Shallu, 2013). From various sources, the past experience and state of mind, the consumer may determine the impact that advertising has on him/her. In an effort to improve messaging and to gain the audience s attention, advertisers create some special moments to resonate the mind of the target customer and motivate the audience to purchase the advertised product or service (Chakrabortty, Hossain, Azad, Jakirul, 2013). The value of studying the consumer behavior is that it gives vital information to an organization for designing an effective marketing strategy. The way a consumer thinks, perceives, decides and is influenced is important in designing of promotional campaigns for any product. Once this was completed he set forth for Virginia with a compliment of 100,000 men.
