Oryx And Crake Morality And Morality
Is morality relative? While some might believe there are absolute or unchangeable ethical truths, in
Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx and Crake, moral standards are dependent on the social, historical,
and economical context of the society. Through genetic modifications, deceitful capitalistic pursuits,
and an inflated ego in humans, Atwood creates a society that depends on science and capitalism for
moral guidance. Essentially, through the character of Crake, Atwood illustrates the dangers that
extremist ideology can have on a society that lacks a prevailing ethical code.
Crake s lack of emotions makes him vulnerable to the moral neutrality of scientific knowledge, as he
cannot understand the nuances of human nature. When Jimmy and Crake ... Show more content on

One company, OrganInc Farms, aims to improve the artificially formed pigoon through implementing,
a rapid maturity gene [that] was spliced in so the pigoon kidneys and livers and hearts would be ready
sooner, and now they were perfecting a pigoon that could grow five or six kidneys at a time (23).
Through this attempt at perfecting the pigoon, OrganInc Farms promotes the importance of reaching
an idealized version of living animals. Through inventing, and then accelerating the adaptation of the
pigoon, OrganInc Farms transitions biological changes from an event outside of human control to an
academic pursuit. This change signals a societal increase in control over natural surroundings, and a
commitment to the advancement of humanity through the use of technology. Crake s project of
recreating human biology coincides with an increased awareness of flaws in the human design. Crake
explained to Jimmy that, racism...had been eliminated in the model group, merely by switching the
bonding mechanism: the Paradice people simply did not register skin colour (305). By eliminating
racism through biological means, Crake reveals he believes there are inherent problems in all human
beings. He must have determined human nature to be negative as he rejects its current status, rather
than working within the current framework to end racism. Crake believes his artificial humans, which
are referred to as Crakers, represent the art of the possible. We can list the individual

Gonzo Journalism Essay
Gonzo Journalism is Not Dead The excess use of guns, booze, and too many drugs to count easily
sums up the life and writing of Hunter S. Thompson. During the 1970s, American literature and
journalism changed in a way that no one would have ever been able to predict. The years following
turned the table and effected generations to come in a new writing style that many authors and
journalist now adopt. The life and writing of Hunter S. Thompson had great influence on the creation
of gonzo journalism, politics, and American culture. Even after forty years, Hunter S. Thompson s
creation of gonzo journalism became a new style of writing that remains imitated. Gonzo journalism

Thompson believed that every individual, know matter how weird, had a say in politics and possessed
power to influence elections with just one vote. These views in the 1970s gave way too many views
easily expressed today like when MTV began Rock the Vote , encouraging young voters to stand up
and let their voices heard as well letting them know their voice mattered. Thompson s life style played
a pivotal role in many avenues of American pop culture such as art, movies, and creating a cult
following that is still strong today. Most illustrations of Thompson s work came from the artist Ralph
Steadman who became a famous artist, and won many awards in his life. From Steadman s popularity,
he continued to illustrate many books such as Alice in Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, and Animal Farm.
(Graham) There were three movies made from Thompson s writings to include Fear and Loathing in
Las Vegas, Rum Diaries, and Where the Buffalo Roam staring Actors such as Johnny Depp, Benicio
Del Toro, and Bill Murray. Gonzo journalism and other writings from Thompson created a cult
following that influenced journalist, writers, actors, musicians, and even teenagers who looked to him
for a voice. Many of Thompson s followers go as far as to get his iconic gonzo fist symbol tattooed on
them to show their support. Thompson s influence remains strong in America with its reach expanding

Analysis Of Nintendo Essay
THE HISTORY OF NINTENDO
Nintendo Company, Ltd is based in Kyoto Japan. They are recognized as being the worldwide leader
in the creation of interactive entertainment (Nintendo, 2002, PG). Some of the world s best selling
video gaming has come from the Nintendo Company, including Game Boy and Nintendo 64. In
America Nintendo is based in Redmond, Washington. It is interesting to note that in American
households nearly 40% have a Nintendo product. The latest product launched by Nintendo has been
the Game Cube, a video game console which will undoubtedly prove to be yet another bestseller.

While they are sometimes critical and seek perfection, at the same time they are leaders who try to
work with the entire group so that the dynamics flow together rather than individually.
Weaknesses: Conflict has been described as the process which begins when one party perceives that
the other has frustrated, or is about to frustrate, some concern of his or hers. This could certainly be
the case with Nintendo when it fights a head to head battle with Microsoft. The meanings of concerns
in this case are the needs, wants and values of Nintendo. Therefore, conflict situations might arise
when the needs, wants and values of two parties interfere with one another. Depending on how
Nintendo and Microsoft react to conflict it may not be harmful. Indeed, it presents opportunities for
situations to be driven forward effectively, particularly in business contexts. However, according to
some people it appears that all reactions to conflict stem from two general impulses:
(1) The desire to satisfy personal concerns, which shows itself as assertive behavior, and
(2) The desire to satisfy the concerns of others, which shows itself in non assertive behavior. These
represent two behavioral dimensions and provide the basis for conflict handling modes. These
behaviors are further incorporated into the concept built around the idea that people react in one of
five basic ways when faced with interpersonal conflict situations; competing, collaborating,
compromising,

Nathaniel Bacon Research Paper
Justus 2 We all love bacon, right? Maybe not! Many people have grew to dislike Mr. Nathaniel Bacon.
Why, or how, could they? Well, I ll tell you why, because Nathaniel Bacon is a very important history
character that we all need to know about. Bacon was born in England in 1674 to the famous Sir
Francis Bacon, the lord chancellor of England from 1618 1621 ( Encylopedia Britannica ). Mr. Bacon
arrived in North America in 1674 when his wife, Elizabeth s, father opposed their marriage. Bacon got
land along the James River in Virginia, and in less than a year, Bacon was made the governor of
council of Virginia with some family pull. Nathaniel Bacon was the Governor, William Berkeley s
cousin by marriage. ( Encylopedia Britannica ) Before Bacon arrived in 1674, frontier families were
just barely getting by. The weather was bad leading to less crop harvest and taxes were high. The
colonists grew angry with the government, saying the neighboring Indians should be removed ( Saint
or Sinner? ). The colonists at once take the reins and form an army. However, Gov. Berkeley says they
must not have a commander, or go against the Indians ( First American Rebel ). Bacon arrives in
North America at just the perfect time, in his eyes. Nathaniel Bacon was known to be very strong

Memory Is A Social Phenomenon
It is been seen that memory is now ubiquitous .All of Memory has been wholly observed by its
meticulous reconstitution.. When we examine a little closely to how we recollect things in our day to
day to life, we realize that the greatest number of memories come back to us when our parents, our
neighbours, our friends or the other persons recall them to us. Differences in discourse of memory
have been understood by the remnants of experience which is still lived in the warmth of tradition, in
the silence of custom, in the repetition of ancestral which have been displaced under the pressure of a
fundamentally historical sensibility.
Memory is a social phenomena. It has become the subject of controversies among observers and
analysts. The notion of memory when it is defined, can be either understood as internal or inward
memory and external memory, or personal memory or social memory(Halbwach 1950, 52). Narratives
about the past by nations and states are not something new. When we reflect upon them , we make
many discoveries ; we discover the shape and the why of the events. (ibid: 55). But the explosion of
the memorial phenomenon by largely, is increased from the utterance of specific groups, whether
intranational or transnational groups, and from the range of scales on which the narrative of past
experience is legitimately expressed. A social group s identity is constructed with narratives and
traditions that are created to give its members a sense of an community.

The Positive And Biological Effects Of Radiation
Biological Effects of Radiation
Radiosensitivity
DNA as main cellular target
Cellular role of DNA DNA is a double helix molecule made up of two sugar phosphate backbones that
are linked together at the bases: Adenine Thymine and Guanine Cytosine. DNA is responsible for
cellular structure and function.
Direct vs. indirect DNA damage ** Direct damage Direct ionization has charged particles such as
alpha, protons, and electrons. Direct damage to the nucleus of the atom is the direct damage to the
DNA cell. Has the ability to rip electrons off of an atom. Indirect Damage Indirect ionization is with x
rays, gamma rays, and neutrons. Indirect ionizations cause secondary effects:
Radiolysis splitting of water. An electron can be ejected to form h20+.
This electron can be absorbed by another atom to form h20 . These ions can form ion pairs or highly
reactive free radicals. All can recombine to form water, hydrogen peroxide, or interact with the
cellular components of a cell such as the nucleus. (Radiation Therapy Essentials Board
Preparation Tool)
Low LET radiation causes damage primarily through the formation of free radicals ****
Types and results of DNA damage
Single strand breaks is when one piece of the backbone of the helix is broken; base deletion. 2000 per

Persuasive Essay On Waxing The Floor
When school is dismissed for the final time for summer vacation, most of the students go to their
homes and sleep in for two and a half months. However, there are a select few students that do not
enjoy this luxury. Some students must wake up every day to make the long journey to school. These
students do not have to attend summer school or any other educational program. These students come
to the schools to wax the floors in order for the facilities to look presentable for the next year. While
some might not believe this to be a particularly hard task, many do not realize how much work,
thought, and preparation go into achieving this goal. This essay will give the many steps that have to
be taken in order to achieve success.
Before the actual working can even get started, the first step is to collect the supplies that are needed.
As many people would guess, waxing the floors will, of course, require the purchase of wax. This wax
is stored in five gallon buckets with an air tight seal. This seal prevents the wax from hardening and
thus can save the wax for over two years without spoiling. However, the wax is far from being the
only essential product needed for this process. A special kind of chemical, correctly named stripper, is
also needed. This stripper is used a long while before any wax can be laid down. The stripper is used
to strip the existing wax off of the floors. This requires the use of another invaluable tool called a
buffer. This machine is used

For example, yesterday was the start of our Summer camps. Children have the option of paying for
lunch in the morning, $5 a day, or $20 for the week on Mondays. I was writing the names down,
indicating whether they paid for the day or the week. Today, Tuesday, I did the same thing, however, I
noticed it was difficult to find the names of the children who paid for the week because it was not
alphabetized. I also found it difficult to stay organized with people who were paying for the rest of the
week, for just that day, or who were checking in for their stamp. Therefore, when all the commotion
cleared from the lobby, I sat down and figured out a new system to implement tomorrow, for a
smoother, easier way of lunch check in. I also have noticed that the Superdome can be unorganized in
its staffing of coaches. A lot of the coaches are college students and have all different schedules.
Therefore, it is difficult to know who is coming in for what event, and it is even more difficult to
figure out who is coming in, if they are not already in, when the time comes. My plan is to coordinate

How To Write A Drag Racing Essay
Drag Racing
Drag racing is a form of racing in which two cars line up at the same place, and race each other down
a straight track. The first one to cross the finish line wins.
Starting
If you want to start drag racing, which I personally think is very hard, you ve got to have some money.
Things you ll need are a trailer, some options of different kinds of trailers are an open trailer, (about
$2,500), or an enclosed trailer, (about $5,000), or if you have more than one car that you want to take,
you could get a stacker trailer. A stacker trailer is trailer with a lift that you can drive a car onto and
then lift it up in the air and it will stay there and then you can drive another car in underneath it. Those
usually cost about $20,000.My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you go to a small race track, most of the time you ll know all of the staff, workers, and other racers.
My advice for you is to become involved with helping out at the track. If a worker or staff member
needs help with something, you should help out. Not only will you get a good reputation there, but
you ll be liked more and can even get some benefits such as being able to come into the track and
practice. If another racer needs a part, and you have an extra, why not let them borrow it? It will once
again help your reputation out. Plus, if your car ever breaks and you need a part, they will most likely
pay you back and let you borrow the part you need.
Racing
And now for the fun Racing. There is more to drag racing then there seems. It s not just smash your
foot to the floor and drive straight. There s way more to it. You have to have your car tuned right, and
make sure that everything is working well on your car, plus you need to be maintaining your car, and
you need to be figuring out your dial in. The dial in is the elapsed time you think your car will run
(usually to the hundredth of the second). If you go faster then your dial in, then you break out, which
means you are disqualified. For example, if you dialed a 4.00 and ran a 3.99 you would have broken
out, and you would be done racing for that class for the day. And then you

The Legend Of Bagger Vance Analysis
In The Legend of Bagger Vance by Steven Pressfield, Rannulph Junah, a golfer, finds his swing.
Hardy Greaves, the narrator, retells the match between Rannulph Junah, Bobby Jones and Walter
Hagen from his point of view to Michael, who is facing conflicts in his own life. The story begins in
Savannah, Georgia with Mr. Invergordon, a wealthy Scotsman. He envisions the grandest golf course
the South has ever seen and has it built by Alister Mackenzie. A 500 room hotel is also built. However,
when the Crash of 1929 hits, Mr. Invergordon s empire is lost and he cannot take the financial

Junah s game starts out mediocre, but then worsens as the first day continues. Bagger Vance offers
him advice and even points out Bobby s even tempoed swing and Walter s erratic one. As the match
progresses over the next three days, Bagger Vance shows Junah more and more of The Field in order
for him to replicate his Authentic Swing. Undoubtedly, Junah s golf game starts to improve. He is
soon knocking strokes off of his score easily. Hagen and Jones quickly see that their third opponent is
not to be taken lightly. Not long after, Junah shocks the crowd when he calls a penalty on himself for
accidentally moving his ball. Only Hardy witnesses this mistake, but Junah knows he cannot lie. At
this point, Bagger Vance realizes Junah has mastered his swing and the battle with his Inner Self.
Leaving Hardy to caddie for Junah, Bagger walks off the course. Junah ends up with a seventy six for
the third round, but drops down to a sixty six for the final eighteen holes. Hardy finishes the story and
decides to drive to the weathered Krewe Island Golf Course to play the only hole remaining in good
condition. Michael and Junah s granddaughter, Irene, also accompany him, bringing the three golf
balls Bagger Vance had during the match and Junah s driver, Schenectady Slim. Somehow, Bagger

I believe that from failures that each individual encounters can be fundamental to later successes.
Failing is a part of life that everyone will go through, but only a few will accept it. Going through
failures multiple times will eventually lead to a superb success. I strongly know that failing will
change a person because failing will lead to other opportunities and will help an individual obtain
more knowledge on what to do next. For example, starting my freshman year of high school, I decided

economies, communities and ecosystems. So far, the spill has contaminated the Animas River, San

Their history is all but erased, their lives destroyed in the pursuit of material wealth (resource

illegitimate in their eyes, ruthlessly imposed treaties, laws, cultural mandates and regulations on a
population who never asked for such measures. There was resistance, but it was stamped out. Thus,
the bloody history of European settlement is never far from the minds of indigenous people living in

Comparison of Genesis 1 2

Dr. Stewart
REL 1330 Introduction to Christianity HONORS Section
September 18, 2013
Comparison between Genesis 1 Genesis 2 The story of creation begins with Genesis 1 and 2, it
explains how the world and it s living inhabitants were created from God s touch. From Genesis 1 we
see how the sky, seas, land, animals, and mankind were created. However Genesis 2 focuses more on
the first of mankind, known as Adam and Eve and how they are made to be. In this paper I will
compare Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and what the main idea for creation is in each one, however in my
opinion there is no contradiction between the two. Genesis 2 merely fills in the details that are
headlined in Genesis 1. In Genesis 1 we learn how God created the ... Show more content on

Another possibility is that there were two stories being told and the writer could not decide which one
to put in the bible, so he put both. Though there are two clashing stories, the basic idea for this story of
creation can still be seen. This might explain why Genesis 1 has a broader spectrum of creation and
why Genesis 2 focuses mainly on the creation of man. In Genesis 1 the names of man are not even
mentioned. In Genesis 2 however we come to learn that their names are Adam (male) and Eve
(female). Also in Genesis 2 we learn exactly how Eve is created; Goad takes a rib from Adam and
makes Eve from that rib. Then she is called woman, because she is made from man (Gen 2:23). This
appears nowhere in Genesis 1.
Another possibility is that Genesis was also put in the Bible to show us how important the creation of
man was. After all we are the only things that God created in his image (Gen 1:26). God makes a
garden in Eden and puts Adam in the eastern part of Eden to care over and keep it in order. He then
instructs him about what trees to eat from and which to not eat from. Before God makes him a helper
(on the 6th day) he brings all the creatures to Adam to name all the animals and birds (Gen 2:15).
Then God reflects back at what he previously made before man. (Gen 1:24 25 explains the creatures
made from the earth according to its kind ) and has Adam name them before he puts him asleep to
operate on him to give him his wife

Rogers View Of The Good Life
My Thoughts: Rogers description of the good life as a direction is incredibly different from the
American perspective that happiness is a singular goal one can achieve. We often think that, once we
reach a point in life where we re happy, that we ll stay that way indefinitely. Rogers perspective is less
palatable, but probably more accurate.
My Thoughts: To me, this was Roger s most interesting and thought provoking quote. When he says
that someone living the good life would very likely not be a conformist, it makes me think about the
fact that most people are conformists. I don t think being a conformist is a fixed aspect of who people
are, but I do think it s very hard to overcome for people who have lived much of their lives that ...

Whether or not we agree with it, it s still helpful to know that others may not always take things as we

12 or so. We were talking about how the constant arguments we had were making the house a very

him to get out of the house, but I meant that because he was an adult and had a car and money, he was
able to drive away from the house if he wanted and take a break from it, whereas I was stuck there. We

Fiorello Laguardia Research Paper
Eventually Tammany Hall s grip over New York City plummeted when Fiorello LaGuardia became
Mayor in 1933. LaGuardia had been an outspoken critic of the prohibition of alcohol, but he was
passionate about enforcing illegal gambling laws. At that time, New York City s slot machines
generated roughly $180 million a year in profits for the mob, but under LaGuardia s direction the
NYPD confiscated thousands of slot machines. In fact, he once held a press conference as he threw
several of the mechanical pickpockets in the Atlantic Ocean. LaGuardia took such a strong stance
against gambling that he managed to have pinball machines banned. As a result, New York police

Open Border Migration
Dating as far back as the revolution, Americans have always rallied around the concept of change.
Occupy Wall Street, though a unorganized protest, has successfully created a stir throughout the nation
by demanding modifications to society. Among the many appeals, the demonstration insist on open
borders migration which would enable easier immigration between countries, in this case it would be
Mexico and the United States. Republicans and Democrats are split on how correctly solve this
seemingly unsolvable issue. The Republican Party is in no way attempting to meet this demand;
however, the Democratic Party s is trying to implement reforms in the immigration process, which is a
step towards accomplishing the protest s goal. I believe that the best way to meet Occupy Wall Street s
demand is to have a mix of the two parties solution. This conflict between the two parties is significant
because it can lead to a complete halt in creating a solution. One of the key components needed to
establishing open borders migration in the United States is to create and passing a reform that makes
the immigration process both easier and less time consuming. The Republican Party has no intention
to making the immigration process any simplier. In fact, republicans have stated that they plan to
intensify the procedure. The way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Major Causes Of British Resistance From The French And...
As the oppressive mother country of England and newfound monarch King George III sought to
harrow their way out of debt from the French and Indian War, they found the colonists as a way to
relieve their financial troubles. By wanting to decrease their financial debt, British Parliament
enforced tax burdens and tight regulations such as restriction of civil liberties and military measures
on the colonists. Although colonists wanted to separate from Britain due to unfair treatment, there was
still a strong bond with the mother country. Therefore colonial resistance was a direct result of British
error. British actions in the 1760s and 1770s escalated tensions in North American cities.
Parliamentary taxation was undeniably one of the most significant factors encouraging the colonies to
rebel in the years leading up to the revolution. The British government desperately needed to pay off
the debt from the French and Indian War and attempted to do so, in part, by imposing new taxes. With
each attempt, colonial resistance grew. Taxation without representation in Parliament was one of the
main reasons for colonial opposition. Although, there were still members of Parliament such as
Edmund Burke who understood that it was unjust to govern America without proper representation.
Burke stated in a speech to British Parliament, Govern America? As you govern an English town
which happens not to be represented in Parliament? Are Gentlemen really serious when they propose

What Are The Causes Of The Imperial Crisis
The Imperial Crisis was a series of events that lead to the formation of the United States of the country
and our cessation of relations with Great Britain. It was not so much one big event, as it was many
smaller events that slowly pushed the American over the edge until they had enough; you could say it
was a straw that broke the camel s back sort of situation. There are several important events in this
series of straws , taking place from 1763 to 1776. In the mid 1600s, the American colonists were very
hungry for new land, and were going ever westward. This lust for expansion, predictably, caused
troubles with local Native Americans. King George wanted to stem the conflict, and so ordered the
Royal Proclamation of 1763 to go in effect, keeping colonists from going west past a certain line so
that the relationship with the tribes could stabilize. This angered colonists, who didn t see the point
and cared more about land than relations with the Native American tribes, so they went west anyway.
Just the fact that the king gave the order infuriated them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nori Seaweed Essay
INTRODUCTION
An intertidal community is made up of a very diverse and populated group of organisms and species.
Rocky intertidal zones are located on shore lines. They are found on sandy or rocky beaches. Intertidal
communities are known as tidal pools that are covered by water during high tide and vulnerable to air
at low tide. These communities can be very complex and overcrowded areas. The species that are
present are Nori Seaweed, Black Pine, Coral Weed, Mussel, Acorn Barnacle, Goose Neck Barnacle,
Whelk, Chiton, Starfish, and Green Crab. Nori Seaweed is the weakest competitor in the sessile
consumers. The sessile organisms are permanently located on rocks and don t move. The barnacles
and mussel dominate over all the sessile organisms. The starfish feeds mainly off the mussel and is the
specie that governs the whole intertidal zone. When the green crab is added they dominate over the
starfish and they can sometimes cause destruction among the entire ecosystem. Green crab feed off of
barnacles, whelk, mussels, and many other species. The algae produce their own food. The filter
feeders are consumers but extract particles out of the water to eat. Most of the species feed off each
other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the module we see that the starfish is a keystone predator. If that species is removed how will it
affect that ecosystem or the other organisms living in the intertidal community? I PREDICT THAT
REMOVING THE STARFISH WILL INCREASE THE MUSSEL POPULATION. Since starfish feed
off of several organisms I think it will impact the mussels the most when removing the starfish. We
can test this by using the module You

The Islamic Religious Laws Practiced By Muslim
The Islamic religious laws practiced by Muslim s around the world that belong to the traditional legal
system known as Sharia has made headlines around the world for its barbaric, harsh and inhumane
punishments and reasoning. The terms Quran, Zina , Sharia, Fiqh, Kanunname, Qadi and Ijtihad are
all terms that represent some sort of aspect of traditional Islamic components, laws and or ways of life.
I argue that over time, some of the terms stated above have changed and others not so much depending
on the way they are applied and practiced. The comparisons of punishments and fines within different
social classes and genders in the different era s significantly addresses proof of evolution of the terms
previously stated is true but only according to the circumstances attributed to the term in question and
how it is practiced.
Over time, in most cases, things change for the better. A combination between ethical societies,
modernized non violent punishment tactics and human rights obligations are the fundamentals of
freedom a functional society. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for the traditional Islamic legal
system, which is known as Sharia. Sharia is seen by most non Muslim s to be intolerable and
inhumane because the codes and punishments are often too severe for the average non Muslims to
comprehend without knowing the historical understanding of the laws that where implemented way
back when but that are still practiced and followed by Muslims. Sharia is seen as

Importance Of Biblical Worldview
Wolters writes in his book, Creation Regained, that a worldview is almost essential to human beings
because we cannot live without belief and guidance, which a worldview serves as (Wolters, 76). As
Christians, we must have a biblical worldview, and in order to have a biblical worldview, it is critical
for Christians to understand and discern structure and direction. Structure and direction are the main
biblical themes, which Christians use to reform and renew every sector of their lives.
I. Structure Structure is one aspect that defines an individual s worldview. Wolters defines structure as
the essence of a creation that God placed in His creational law (Wolters, 682). It does not change
despite human s perversity. For Christians, it is necessary to discern and understand structure since it
is in all aspects of society, and it serves as a standard in all those areas. It acts as an anchor that
provides definition and places boundaries and limits. As an example, a structure in government
defines what it is supposed to do and places boundaries and limitations for it to run like a government,
not like a school or a business. In a way, structure is God s mercy because not only does it set a limit
for creations, but it also sets a limit on the enemy and prevents its dominion and bondage. Structure
helps us to think about the questions in this world in a different perspective. It enables us to think in a
Godly, scriptural perspective, which will serve as a guideline for us to

Motherhood Is A Successful Woman
In the 21st century, the equality of women is increasing and being encouraged by many. Where a
woman must be able to balance her job, children, and marriage is mostly often seen as being a
successful women. Statistics show the opposite. You do not have to balance a job, children, and
marriage to be a successful woman. Surveys and statistics show that women are also successful if they
stay at home and dedicate all their time to the formation and education of their children. Sadly, the
role of motherhood that was held sacred is little by little falling away and disappearing. Many
centuries ago, motherhood was held sacred, going all the way back to the times of Jesus. Motherhood
should still be held sacred in the age we live in today. The mother of Jesus is a great model for
mothers to follow as she formed and educated her son Jesus. Sacred scriptures and a most recent pope
that was just canonized a saint, tell us about how motherhood is really sacred. St. Joseph is a great
example for a father to follow as St. Joseph was a carpenter and a hard worker. St. Joseph thought
Jesus how to work and Mary thought Jesus faith and morals. At a home where there is a father and a
mother figure, it is better for the mother to stay home and for the father to go out and work. Childhood
is the most important part of a child s life. It is important that the child has a mother figure present,
who gives their child love and guidance as they grow up to prevent any problems in the future.

Too much risk can result in critical failure of the business and too little risk can reduce
competitiveness. Risk is the effect of uncertainty on objectives which have both positive and negative
effects. According to the ISO/IEC Guide 73, risks are the combination of the probability of an event
and its consequences which have the potential for benefits (upside) if managed effectively, or the
threat of success (downside) as a result of poor assessment and management. Risks are a central part
of any organisation s strategic management; it is suggested that the greater the risk involved, the

Essay on Deceptive Females of Homer s Odyssey
The Deceptive Females of Homer s Odyssey
Homer s Odyssey is probably the most famous and well known epic of all time. This tale relates the
adventures of the archetypal hero, Odysseus. Odysseus long journey home takes him to many different
places where he encounters many different monsters and creatures, but there are certain recurrent
elements throughout. The most common themes in the Odyssey are forgetfulness, willingness to risk
pain for pleasure, and sexual temptation.
When comparing the Sirens episode with Odysseus other adventures, one can observe an emergence

There are not only thematic similarities but also plot repetitions between the Sirens and Lotus eaters

rather he passes the challenge through wit and luck. Though Odysseus managed to avoid being tied

The National Address On The United States Of America
Firearms have created a complex issue in the United States of America. In a country where guns are a
staple and have become a pinnacle to social cultures, this isn t surprising. Recently, there has been an
ever increasing cause of concern for safety in regards to the citizens of The United States of America.
In the national address on the Umpqua Community College Shooting in Roseburg, Oregon, (a
shooting where ten people died, including the perpetrator) President, Barack Obama, convincingly
persuades the audience to advocate for better gun legislation in light of the obsessive gun culture in
America today. Obama was able to achieve this by connecting with his audience on a emotional level,
using a earnest tone, and presenting his speech with common sense language. Obama opens his

ridiculing the routine nature of and response to mass shootings in America. He emphasizes that

Comparing The Book Of Proverbs And Ecclesiastes
Looking at the books of wisdom of the Old Testament, the ideas of diligence and laziness have been
greatly captured. Diligence has been displayed in a much positive way, unlike laziness which has been
greatly condemned and looked down upon in most of the books of wisdom in the Old Testament
(Hindson and Yates 2012). Though the two ideas looked to have been intertwined making them
closely related, they are totally different from each other. It must be understood that the books of
proverbs and Ecclesiastes are the books of wisdom that have handled the two ideas in more expansive
manner and thus become our center of focus as we discuss the two in greater details.
As stated above, the books of proverbs and Ecclesiastes provide a wide description ... Show more

In this, we are able to infer that listening to a diligent person is more important than listening to a lazy
person. This is because a diligent person is a person who is full of wisdom, unlike a lazy person who
is full of foolishness (Ecclesiastes 10:10 12 RSV). It has been stated in the book of Ecclesiastes that
those words that come out of the mouth of a wise person are more gracious and blessing than those
that comes out of a foolish person whose words are full of foolishness and their end is mere madness.
It is, therefore, clear that those words that come out of a diligent person have a lot of wisdom are
greatly valued as compared to those words that come out of a lazy person which are full of
foolishness. Such words can only lead to madness and nothing good can ever come out of them as
compared to those from a diligent person which are more gracious and valuable. Laziness is therefore
regarded as evil and has nothing good to offer to anyone and no one should pay attention to people
with such qualities and tendencies. Ecclesiastes encourages us to pay more attention to the diligent
people as they have a lot of wisdom which if put into practice; the results are good and much

aged rapidly and was changed by Brownfield. Everything about her changed, not to suit him...He
changed her to something he did not want, could not want, and that made it easier for him to treat her
in the way he felt she deserved. (Walker, 57) Mem had entered the novel as an educated woman, a
schoolteacher; this combined with Brownfield s illiteracy only adds to his frustration and lack of self

Abstract
Teams are formed when individuals with a common taste, preference, liking, and attitude come and
work together for a common goal. Teams play a very important role in organizations as well as our
personal lives.
Teamwork is essential for competing in today s global arena, where individual perfection is not as
desirable as a high level of collective performance. In knowledge based enterprises, teams are the
norm rather than the exception. A critical feature of these teams is that they have a significant degree
of empowerment, or decision making authority. There are many different kinds of teams: ... Show

Biography of Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn
Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn was the premier artist in 17th century Europe during the great Golden
Age of Dutch painting, well known for his Dutch Baroque style of art that lead to his title as one of the
greatest painters in history. His incredible brush technique and his masterful appreciation of human
nature combined to create a humongous impact on his peers as well as influencing tons of artists of
later years.1 He was born on July 15, 1606, in Leiden, Netherlands, a small city located in the Dutch
province of South Holland. Rembrandt was born into a large family, the eighth of nine children. His
father, Harmen Gerritsz van Rijn, was a miller, and his mother, Neeltgen Willemsd van Zuytbroeck,
was the daughter of a baker. Rembrandt studied at Latin school for seven years before enrolling in
university in 1620, before leaving after only a few months to become an apprentice to the painter for
Jacob Isaacsz van Swanenburgh.2 After working under Jacob Isaacsz van Swanenburgh for three
years, Rembrandt left for Amsterdam, to work with Pieter Lastman, in 1624. While many artists in the
17th century felt like they needed to travel to Italy to fulfill their artistic training, Rembrandt never left
Holland once in his entire life, taking pride in his Dutch nationality.3 Pieter Lastman was one of the
most respected experts in historical paintings in all of Holland, as his inspiration in his works came
mostly from mythological, historical, and biblical scenes. Like Lastman,

First of all, what is quality improvement? Quality Improvement (QI) has being define by the Institute
of Medicine (IOM) the way to which patient care services increase the possibility of desired health
outcomes and are consistent with the professional knowledge. The roots of the quality improvement
movement can be traced back to the work of epic figures such as Ignaz Semmelweis, the 19th century
obstetrician who championed the importance of hand washing in medical care. In addition, Florence
Nightingale, the English nurse, identified the association between poor living conditions and high
death rates among soldiers treated at army hospitals. Ernest Codman, a surgeon, pioneered the creation

Yoga s Spiritual Path Means to Join Essay
The yogas are active spiritual paths, a way for people to achieve illumination by the Divine Spark
within us all. The word yoga literally means union and is related to the English words join and yoke .
Through yoga, we unwrap the Divinity within, thereby allowing our true spiritual natures to shine
forth ever brighter. There are numerous types of yoga; here is a short explanation of some of the main
ones:
Jnana yoga is the yoga of wisdom and true knowledge. To know Brahman as one s individual Self is
Jnana. It looks into the reality about who we are and what we are experiencing and the complete
comprehension of this reality carries enlightenment. According to Shankara (c.788 820), everything is
fundamentally one divine reality, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Refers to a set of physical exercises, that contain stretching and balancing, designed to align your skin,
muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the various channels of the body,
especially the primary channel, the spine, so that energy can circulate freely.
The main Hindu beliefs are Brahman, Atman, Maya, Karma, Dharma, and Moksha. These primary
concepts are still taught today.
The word Brahman means divine reality at the center of things. Brahman itself constitutes the basic
building material of all reality, the font of all things. It is the long lasting experience that all things are
in some way holy because they originate from the same sacred fount. It is also the experience that all
things are basically one. It says that every seemingly individual reality in the world is, in reality, a
wave of the same sacred ocean of energy. There s three words that help define its nature: Brahman is
Sat, reality itself; Chit, pure consciousness; and Ananda, bliss.
Atman is sometimes translated as self , soul , or deepest self . Each individual has a soul and the soul
presents its own uniqueness and personality. At the deepest level of what you are, there is a divine
reality, a divine spirit, that everything shares. The Atman is equal with Brahman, it refers to the
experience of the sacred within oneself. It could be said that in this world, a spiritual being, the
Atman, has a human experience instead of a human being having a

Examples Of Cosmological Argument
A cosmological argument is defined as an argument for the existence of God which claims that all
things in nature depend on something else for their existence (i.e. are contingent), and that the whole
cosmos must therefore itself depend on a being which exists independently or necessarily. (Davies,
1982)This argument can be first traced back to Plato and Aristotle around 400BC 300BC. (Cornman,
Lehrer, Pappas, 1992)Thomas Aquinas adapted the argument of Aristotle to form one of the most
influential versions of the cosmological argument. His conception of First Cause was the idea that the
Universe must have been caused by something that was itself uncaused, which he believed to be God.
(Aquinas, 1274) He begins the argument with two objections ... Show more content on

Firstly, the argument of motion states that whatever is in motion is put in motion by another, and
nothing cannot put itself in motion. This is a straightforward notion as it is evident to our senses that
things are in motion in the world It is certain, and evident to our senses, that in the world some things
are in motion. (Aquinas, 1274) For something to change into something else, it first must have the
potential to change into that something. Motion is actually the transformation of something from
potentiality to actuality. This can only be carried out by something that is already in actuality. But
nothing can be reduced from potentiality to actuality, except by something in a state of actuality.
Aquinas uses the example of hot and cold to demonstrate potentiality and actuality. If an object
becomes hot, it can only become hot by something that is already hot. The object has the potential to
become both hot and cold, but seeing as it has become hot, it does not have the power to reduce itself
to actuality a hot object, because otherwise, it would simultaneously have the power to become cold.
Therefore, it must be a third party which reduces the object from potentiality to actuality. We can
agree that everything that is in motion is put in motion by something else. (Davies, 1982) Therefore,
whatever is in motion must be put in motion by another. But where did this

Effective Use Of Haunted Houses In Horror Movies
Few movies succeed in casting something as inane as a house as a character that drives the storyline.
There are plenty of haunted houses in horror movies that scare their occupants into vacating or

It is one of those movies that showed how utterly funny Tom Hanks was and maybe still is. Critics
might have slammed it upon release but they could not eviscerate it because it had its saving moments
and the jokes were really funny even if they were predictable, except for that one scene where the
kitchen wiring starts a fire sending their roast dinner flying through the house and lending in the
bathroom. There are so many gags, its so hard it to laugh. Who is this movie for There are a lot of
people who will relate to the nightmares of renovations, dry rot and building contractors who do not
inspire much confidence. The Richard Benjamin directed movie has been described as being banal and
filled with too many slapsticks jokes. However, this is probably Tom Hanks best comedic role. It wasn
t created to be intellectually stimulating or to give you some deep insight about love. It s a romantic
comedy but a clever one (unlike the thousands we have been presented with over the year). The
romance Spectrum of it is secondary and comedy takes over and dominates, unapologetically too. Ever

The need for EBP is in order to improve service procedures and provide reliable evidence to inform
health practitioners and inform clinical decision making EBP promotes the application of research
evidence as a basis on which to make health care decisions Evidence based practice (EBP) is to
demonstrate the best practice, which has been supported, with a valid and clear rationale to support it.
Whilst using (EBP), this also acknowledges the patient/clients best interest. (EBP) is the
conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care
of individual patient/clients (Sackett et al, 1996). In this definition Sackett facilitates an understanding
between (EBP) and decisions we make in everyday practice. This demonstrates the strong connection
between both aspects. Here, Sackett emphasises the importance of decisions we make as healthcare
professionals, and how clearly they should be stated. This shows that decisions are well thought out,
which demonstrates that the use of evidence is used sensibly and carefully, which means that any care
or support we deliver must be evidence based. It shows that Sackett understands that if care or support
we provide has a rationale, then this enables us to deliver it with a meaningful purpose. In adherence
to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) we as healthcare

The Case Of Jennifer And Jianshe Li
Case Study Journal Two
The case of Jennifer and Jianshe Li would be extremely challenging and difficult for any
counselor/therapist to handle and guide the couple through; furthermore, the goal would be to guide
the couple thorough the difficult decisions they have to make regarding Jennifer s prognosis and
pregnancy. As a helper, there would be many issues involved; in addition, there would be some
extremely sensitive material the worker would have to deal with. My main purpose would be to guide
them through the process. First of all. Jennifer has been diagnosed with a progressive disorder of the
on the central nervous system, which is linked to genetics. I would recommend they ask the specialist
how the pregnancy could affect Jennifer. Would the pregnancy be detrimental to her health? I would
suggest getting a second and a third opinion. Would the fetus survive if it was afflicted with the
disease? These are questions that only a specialist in neurology would be able to answer. I would help
them look for a specialist who is familiar with the disease; consequently, it would be beneficial to find
an expert who has dealt with it before. I would help the couple research the disease, then they can take
it from there. There are two routes for this couple; therefore, they can select to have their child and try
to minimize the risks. It was their dream to have a child, and I can empathize due I love my children.
If the specialist came to the conclusion that the pregnancy might

  • 2. Oryx And Crake Morality And Morality Is morality relative? While some might believe there are absolute or unchangeable ethical truths, in Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx and Crake, moral standards are dependent on the social, historical, and economical context of the society. Through genetic modifications, deceitful capitalistic pursuits, and an inflated ego in humans, Atwood creates a society that depends on science and capitalism for moral guidance. Essentially, through the character of Crake, Atwood illustrates the dangers that extremist ideology can have on a society that lacks a prevailing ethical code. Crake s lack of emotions makes him vulnerable to the moral neutrality of scientific knowledge, as he cannot understand the nuances of human nature. When Jimmy and Crake ... Through this attempt at perfecting the pigoon, OrganInc Farms promotes the importance of reaching an idealized version of living animals. Through inventing, and then accelerating the adaptation of the pigoon, OrganInc Farms transitions biological changes from an event outside of human control to an academic pursuit. This change signals a societal increase in control over natural surroundings, and a commitment to the advancement of humanity through the use of technology. Crake s project of recreating human biology coincides with an increased awareness of flaws in the human design. Crake explained to Jimmy that, racism...had been eliminated in the model group, merely by switching the bonding mechanism: the Paradice people simply did not register skin colour (305). By eliminating racism through biological means, Crake reveals he believes there are inherent problems in all human beings. He must have determined human nature to be negative as he rejects its current status, rather than working within the current framework to end racism. Crake believes his artificial humans, which are referred to as Crakers, represent the art of the possible. We can list the individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While they are sometimes critical and seek perfection, at the same time they are leaders who try to work with the entire group so that the dynamics flow together rather than individually. Weaknesses: Conflict has been described as the process which begins when one party perceives that the other has frustrated, or is about to frustrate, some concern of his or hers. This could certainly be the case with Nintendo when it fights a head to head battle with Microsoft. The meanings of concerns in this case are the needs, wants and values of Nintendo. Therefore, conflict situations might arise when the needs, wants and values of two parties interfere with one another. Depending on how Nintendo and Microsoft react to conflict it may not be harmful. Indeed, it presents opportunities for situations to be driven forward effectively, particularly in business contexts. However, according to some people it appears that all reactions to conflict stem from two general impulses: (1) The desire to satisfy personal concerns, which shows itself as assertive behavior, and (2) The desire to satisfy the concerns of others, which shows itself in non assertive behavior. These represent two behavioral dimensions and provide the basis for conflict handling modes. These behaviors are further incorporated into the concept built around the idea that people react in one of five basic ways when faced with interpersonal conflict situations; competing, collaborating, compromising, ... • 8. Memory Is A Social Phenomenon It is been seen that memory is now ubiquitous .All of Memory has been wholly observed by its meticulous reconstitution.. When we examine a little closely to how we recollect things in our day to day to life, we realize that the greatest number of memories come back to us when our parents, our neighbours, our friends or the other persons recall them to us. Differences in discourse of memory have been understood by the remnants of experience which is still lived in the warmth of tradition, in the silence of custom, in the repetition of ancestral which have been displaced under the pressure of a fundamentally historical sensibility. Memory is a social phenomena. It has become the subject of controversies among observers and analysts. The notion of memory when it is defined, can be either understood as internal or inward memory and external memory, or personal memory or social memory(Halbwach 1950, 52). Narratives about the past by nations and states are not something new. When we reflect upon them , we make many discoveries ; we discover the shape and the why of the events. (ibid: 55). But the explosion of the memorial phenomenon by largely, is increased from the utterance of specific groups, whether intranational or transnational groups, and from the range of scales on which the narrative of past experience is legitimately expressed. A social group s identity is constructed with narratives and traditions that are created to give its members a sense of an community. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Positive And Biological Effects Of Radiation Biological Effects of Radiation Radiosensitivity DNA as main cellular target Cellular role of DNA DNA is a double helix molecule made up of two sugar phosphate backbones that are linked together at the bases: Adenine Thymine and Guanine Cytosine. DNA is responsible for cellular structure and function. Direct vs. indirect DNA damage ** Direct damage Direct ionization has charged particles such as alpha, protons, and electrons. Direct damage to the nucleus of the atom is the direct damage to the DNA cell. Has the ability to rip electrons off of an atom. Indirect Damage Indirect ionization is with x rays, gamma rays, and neutrons. Indirect ionizations cause secondary effects: Radiolysis splitting of water. An electron can be ejected to form h20+. This electron can be absorbed by another atom to form h20 . These ions can form ion pairs or highly reactive free radicals. All can recombine to form water, hydrogen peroxide, or interact with the cellular components of a cell such as the nucleus. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Waxing The Floor When school is dismissed for the final time for summer vacation, most of the students go to their homes and sleep in for two and a half months. However, there are a select few students that do not enjoy this luxury. Some students must wake up every day to make the long journey to school. These students do not have to attend summer school or any other educational program. These students come to the schools to wax the floors in order for the facilities to look presentable for the next year. While some might not believe this to be a particularly hard task, many do not realize how much work, thought, and preparation go into achieving this goal. This essay will give the many steps that have to be taken in order to achieve success. Before the actual working can even get started, the first step is to collect the supplies that are needed. As many people would guess, waxing the floors will, of course, require the purchase of wax. This wax is stored in five gallon buckets with an air tight seal. This seal prevents the wax from hardening and thus can save the wax for over two years without spoiling. However, the wax is far from being the only essential product needed for this process. A special kind of chemical, correctly named stripper, is also needed. This stripper is used a long while before any wax can be laid down. The stripper is used to strip the existing wax off of the floors. This requires the use of another invaluable tool called a buffer. This machine is used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, my supervisor gave me the responsibility of inventing a new program for the Superdome. When the idea was presented and approved, I then was in charge of creating the marketing campaign. The new program was to introduce the idea of having a company picnic or company outing at the Superdome to large corporations. They would be able to rent out the entire Dome, 80,000 square feet of field space, as well as a party room and outdoor fields to use for their employees and employees families. I was writing the names down, indicating whether they paid for the day or the week. Today, Tuesday, I did the same thing, however, I noticed it was difficult to find the names of the children who paid for the week because it was not alphabetized. I also found it difficult to stay organized with people who were paying for the rest of the week, for just that day, or who were checking in for their stamp. Therefore, when all the commotion cleared from the lobby, I sat down and figured out a new system to implement tomorrow, for a smoother, easier way of lunch check in. I also have noticed that the Superdome can be unorganized in its staffing of coaches. A lot of the coaches are college students and have all different schedules. Therefore, it is difficult to know who is coming in for what event, and it is even more difficult to figure out who is coming in, if they are not already in, when the time comes. • 13. How To Write A Drag Racing Essay Drag Racing Drag racing is a form of racing in which two cars line up at the same place, and race each other down a straight track. The first one to cross the finish line wins. Starting If you want to start drag racing, which I personally think is very hard, you ve got to have some money. Things you ll need are a trailer, some options of different kinds of trailers are an open trailer, (about $2,500), or an enclosed trailer, (about $5,000), or if you have more than one car that you want to take, you could get a stacker trailer. A stacker trailer is trailer with a lift that you can drive a car onto and then lift it up in the air and it will stay there and then you can drive another car in underneath it. Those usually cost about $20,000.My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you go to a small race track, most of the time you ll know all of the staff, workers, and other racers. My advice for you is to become involved with helping out at the track. If a worker or staff member needs help with something, you should help out. Not only will you get a good reputation there, but you ll be liked more and can even get some benefits such as being able to come into the track and practice. If another racer needs a part, and you have an extra, why not let them borrow it? It will once again help your reputation out. Plus, if your car ever breaks and you need a part, they will most likely pay you back and let you borrow the part you need. Racing And now for the fun Racing. There is more to drag racing then there seems. It s not just smash your foot to the floor and drive straight. There s way more to it. You have to have your car tuned right, and make sure that everything is working well on your car, plus you need to be maintaining your car, and you need to be figuring out your dial in. The dial in is the elapsed time you think your car will run (usually to the hundredth of the second). If you go faster then your dial in, then you break out, which means you are disqualified. For example, if you dialed a 4.00 and ran a 3.99 you would have broken out, and you would be done racing for that class for the day. And then you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Failing is a part of life that everyone will go through, but only a few will accept it. Going through failures multiple times will eventually lead to a superb success. Comparison of Genesis 1 2 Brady Pair Dr. Stewart REL 1330 Introduction to Christianity HONORS Section September 18, 2013 Comparison between Genesis 1 Genesis 2 The story of creation begins with Genesis 1 and 2, it explains how the world and it s living inhabitants were created from God s touch. From Genesis 1 we see how the sky, seas, land, animals, and mankind were created. However Genesis 2 focuses more on the first of mankind, known as Adam and Eve and how they are made to be. In this paper I will compare Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and what the main idea for creation is in each one, however in my opinion there is no contradiction between the two. Though there are two clashing stories, the basic idea for this story of creation can still be seen. This might explain why Genesis 1 has a broader spectrum of creation and why Genesis 2 focuses mainly on the creation of man. In Genesis 1 the names of man are not even mentioned. In Genesis 2 however we come to learn that their names are Adam (male) and Eve (female). Also in Genesis 2 we learn exactly how Eve is created; Goad takes a rib from Adam and makes Eve from that rib. Then she is called woman, because she is made from man (Gen 2:23). This appears nowhere in Genesis 1. Another possibility is that Genesis was also put in the Bible to show us how important the creation of man was. After all we are the only things that God created in his image (Gen 1:26). God makes a garden in Eden and puts Adam in the eastern part of Eden to care over and keep it in order. He then instructs him about what trees to eat from and which to not eat from. Before God makes him a helper (on the 6th day) he brings all the creatures to Adam to name all the animals and birds (Gen 2:15). Then God reflects back at what he previously made before man. As the oppressive mother country of England and newfound monarch King George III sought to harrow their way out of debt from the French and Indian War, they found the colonists as a way to relieve their financial troubles. By wanting to decrease their financial debt, British Parliament enforced tax burdens and tight regulations such as restriction of civil liberties and military measures on the colonists. Although colonists wanted to separate from Britain due to unfair treatment, there was still a strong bond with the mother country. Therefore colonial resistance was a direct result of British error. British actions in the 1760s and 1770s escalated tensions in North American cities. Parliamentary taxation was undeniably one of the most significant factors encouraging the colonies to rebel in the years leading up to the revolution. The British government desperately needed to pay off the debt from the French and Indian War and attempted to do so, in part, by imposing new taxes. With each attempt, colonial resistance grew. Taxation without representation in Parliament was one of the main reasons for colonial opposition. Although, there were still members of Parliament such as Edmund Burke who understood that it was unjust to govern America without proper representation. There are several important events in this series of straws , taking place from 1763 to 1776. In the mid 1600s, the American colonists were very hungry for new land, and were going ever westward. This lust for expansion, predictably, caused troubles with local Native Americans. King George wanted to stem the conflict, and so ordered the Royal Proclamation of 1763 to go in effect, keeping colonists from going west past a certain line so that the relationship with the tribes could stabilize. They are found on sandy or rocky beaches. Intertidal communities are known as tidal pools that are covered by water during high tide and vulnerable to air at low tide. The species that are present are Nori Seaweed, Black Pine, Coral Weed, Mussel, Acorn Barnacle, Goose Neck Barnacle, Whelk, Chiton, Starfish, and Green Crab. Nori Seaweed is the weakest competitor in the sessile consumers. The sessile organisms are permanently located on rocks and don t move. When the green crab is added they dominate over the starfish and they can sometimes cause destruction among the entire ecosystem. Importance Of Biblical Worldview Wolters writes in his book, Creation Regained, that a worldview is almost essential to human beings because we cannot live without belief and guidance, which a worldview serves as (Wolters, 76). As Christians, we must have a biblical worldview, and in order to have a biblical worldview, it is critical for Christians to understand and discern structure and direction. Structure and direction are the main biblical themes, which Christians use to reform and renew every sector of their lives. I. Structure Structure is one aspect that defines an individual s worldview. Wolters defines structure as the essence of a creation that God placed in His creational law (Wolters, 682). It does not change despite human s perversity. For Christians, it is necessary to discern and understand structure since it is in all aspects of society, and it serves as a standard in all those areas. It acts as an anchor that provides definition and places boundaries and limits. As an example, a structure in government defines what it is supposed to do and places boundaries and limitations for it to run like a government, not like a school or a business. In a way, structure is God s mercy because not only does it set a limit for creations, but it also sets a limit on the enemy and prevents its dominion and bondage. In this, we are able to infer that listening to a diligent person is more important than listening to a lazy person. This is because a diligent person is a person who is full of wisdom, unlike a lazy person who is full of foolishness (Ecclesiastes 10:10 12 RSV). It has been stated in the book of Ecclesiastes that those words that come out of the mouth of a wise person are more gracious and blessing than those that comes out of a foolish person whose words are full of foolishness and their end is mere madness. It is, therefore, clear that those words that come out of a diligent person have a lot of wisdom are greatly valued as compared to those words that come out of a lazy person which are full of foolishness. Such words can only lead to madness and nothing good can ever come out of them as compared to those from a diligent person which are more gracious and valuable. (Cornman, Lehrer, Pappas, 1992)Thomas Aquinas adapted the argument of Aristotle to form one of the most influential versions of the cosmological argument. Firstly, the argument of motion states that whatever is in motion is put in motion by another, and nothing cannot put itself in motion. This is a straightforward notion as it is evident to our senses that things are in motion in the world It is certain, and evident to our senses, that in the world some things are in motion. (Aquinas, 1274) For something to change into something else, it first must have the potential to change into that something. Motion is actually the transformation of something from potentiality to actuality. This can only be carried out by something that is already in actuality. But nothing can be reduced from potentiality to actuality, except by something in a state of actuality. Aquinas uses the example of hot and cold to demonstrate potentiality and actuality. If an object becomes hot, it can only become hot by something that is already hot. The object has the potential to become both hot and cold, but seeing as it has become hot, it does not have the power to reduce itself to actuality a hot object, because otherwise, it would simultaneously have the power to become cold. Therefore, it must be a third party which reduces the object from potentiality to actuality. We can agree that everything that is in motion is put in motion by something else.
