Compare And Contrast The Yellow Wallpaper And The Painted...
Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper and Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door are both
stories about women protagonists who feel emotionally isolated from their husbands, who both go by
the name John. Ann in The Painted the Door and the wife whose name may or may not be Jane in The
Yellow Wallpaper are women who deal with emotional isolation. Emotional isolation is a state of
isolation where one may be in a relationship but still feel emotional separation. In these two stories,
both women feel emotionally isolated from their husbands due to lack of communication. In both
stories, lack of communication results from one individual failing to disclose their true feelings and
instead he or she are beating around the bush, hoping the other party will know what they want. If
both parties directly disclose their desires and feelings to one another, there would be a better
understanding of each other which as a result would help save marriages. This paper will look at how
both women lack communication, how they both their approach their emotional isolation differently,
and how their failure to communicate to their husbands and their approach, results in the failure to
save their marriage. The Painted Door and The Yellow Wallpaper are stories that show how both
women protagonists are emotionally isolated due to their failure to communicate their feelings and
desires to their husbands. Instead of direct communication to their husbands, the women find other

Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson
This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids, left
to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London,
England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The younger
kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The message
Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without experience, their
lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure.
In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point of
view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The adults
are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are limited.
We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They move in
groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly eased.
Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly
moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had gotten
really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids,
attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This

Automatic Transmission Repairs
American Cars Transmission Repairs Cars manufactured in America and sold world over have
powerful engine which is why they are also called Muscle cars. Since fuel is cheaper in US,
Americans love to drive cars with maximum power and automatic transmission. Though these cars
have low fuel efficiency, they are a joy to drive because of automatic transmission. If you drive one in
Melbourne and are experiencing strange problems with gears, accelerator, or the engine is not
generating enough power to zoom past other vehicles, the car may probably be having transmission
problems. These types of problems are an indications that you need to visit an automatic transmission
specialist. When you Google Automatic Transmission Repairs Melbourne, you

Mending the Transatlantic Rift Essay
Mending the Transatlantic Rift
The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 ushered in an era of dramatic change for foreign policy
and the international system. Most obviously, the United States sense of invulnerability eroded as an
acute awareness to the perils of terrorism gripped the American public. In American foreign policy, the
dominant paradigms evolved. Whereas the Cold War notion of the centrality of powerful nation states
had helped order the Bush administration s outlook before the attacks, the new paradigms explicitly
accounted for the importance of non state actors and rogue regimes as the salient elements of
American foreign policy. In emphasizing rogue states, President George W. Bush focused on regime

Established as a Cold War era counterweight to Soviet power, NATO is characterized by its
commitment to democratic values and practices that, along with its unique, integrated military
structure, sustains it even at times when its members short term strategic calculations diverge.
(Hunter) In theory, then, the bonds between the United States and Europe should be close and
enduring. Indeed, the interests of the two entities have largely converged throughout NATO s half
century history despite occasional differences.
A rift has emerged in this alliance in the aftermath of the attacks of September11, 2002 that analysts
characterize as unprecedented in its scope, intensity, and, at times, pettiness. (Asmus) Immediately
after the attacks, Europe coalesced in support for the United States as sympathy for Americans
dominated public opinion. The goodwill evaporated quickly, however, when it became clear that the
United States planned to use the altered geopolitical landscape as one of the justifications for a
preemptive war to displace Saddam Hussein s dictatorial

Bart Station Analysis
As I walked through Downtown Berkeley, I decided to sit near the Bart Station. I noticed that
everyone around me had somewhere to go because it felt like everyone was in a rush. For example, I
noticed that people were jaywalking the streets. As I sat down, I noticed that there were other students
from my class that sat down near me as well. In addition, I also noticed Tak was sitting behind me,
eating his sandwich. As I was sitting down and looked at those who were walking, I realized that it
was mostly caucasians that were passing by, many dressed well, some were even wearing suits. Most
of the people that walked by were students and adults and some of them were in groups and some
walked by themselves. Everyone looked liked they had somewhere ... Show more content on

As I look around me, I noticed the buildings that surrounded me. There was a lot of grey buildings and
the floor just consisted of bricks. However, there is a feeling of togetherness even though someone has
somewhere to go or there are homeless people that are laughing with others. Often, when my mom
drops me off and we pass by the homeless, she mentions that they look like they re having the times of
their lives with their instruments and people around them on Telegraph. She has a good point. Because
I live extremely close to Downtown Berkeley, I see familiar faces for the past two years and I wonder
how they do it, how they live, and I imagine what they must go through everyday. However, my
thoughts got interrupted when there was a group of teenagers that walked passed me and they were
screaming at each other with their hip hop music played up extremely high. I was a bit annoyed, but I
got over it within seconds. I think everyone goes through that angry teenage stage. As I watched them
walk away in anger, I noticed someone was wearing a bright yellow shirt and I assume that it s a
security guard, making sure that there are no trouble is

The Setting Of The Novel We Were Liars
In the novel We Were Liars , the setting takes place on an island called Beechwood Island in
Massachusetts. Beechwood is a owned by Cadence Sinclair s grandparents Harris Sinclair and Tipper
Taft who unfortunately dies early on in the novel. Harris and Tipper have lots of money and were able
to build four different buildings for each aunt to live in (along with their partners and children) and a
staff building for their workers. All the families travel out to Beechwood every summer and the Liars,
Cadence, Johnny, Gat, and Mirren, are all cousins and at the age of fifteen. They name their summers
by their ages so for instance, the novel mainly takes place in summer seventeen with flashbacks to
summer fifteen from Cadence. The setting is very important because Beechwood is where all the kids
practically grow up and where conflicts take place. You would think that Beechwood island is a happy
place where memories are made and where everyone has fun, but the island is not. It sets an eerie and
unpleasant mood for the story because of all the secrets and rough family matters that occur during
summer seventeen. Beechwood island is the setting of the novel that gives off an eerie mood that
affects the Liar s summers.
Although there are a couple of main characters in the novel, We Were Liars , the one that stands out
the would be the most important main character, Cadence Sinclair. The novel is in first person and is
narrated through Cadence s perspective. This gives readers a

Corinthian Religion
The church that Paul had established in Corinth was all sorts of controversies and divisions such as
division among themselves, lawsuits before unbelievers, moral disorders etc... Paul addressed the
Corinthian believers but also it seems his letter is relevant to all followers of Christ up to this date. I
therefore would like to choose one issue which is moral disorder sexual immorality happened in
Corinth. Besides other issues, Paul also had to deal with the problem of sexual immorality (1Cor. 6:12
20). Clearly that some of the Corinthians were going to prostitutes. It seems like the Corinthians
wanted to justify themselves in saying, Food for the stomach and the stomach for food (6:13) or just
simply say when you are hungry, you eat. However, in regarding to this, Paul addressed that the body
is the members of Christ (6:15) and the temple of the Holy Spirit (6:19); not to be used for immorality,
but for the Lord (6:13). He also argued that For the two, it says, will become one flesh (6:16). This
implied to the human marriage where the love of husband and wife reflect the love of Christ for his
Church. No one is allowing separating them. Also, he asserted that our bodies no longer belong to us
but to Christ. Then we should not do anything to harm them for if we are united to prostitutes are
actually harmful to the body.

In Time Stereotyping
Stereotyping can lead to bias, prejudice, and discrimination, sometimes causing exclusion of groups,
or oppression, often which are minorities. They are given specific characteristics to fit into, which they
often do not. Stereotyping happens all over the world, more specifically in America. They create a
facade of a preeminent characteristic. They can have dire consequences, become emotionally
damaging attacks, which often results in hurting many people mentally and even physically. This
stereotyping shown In the film In Time, by Andrew Niccol. For instance, Sylvia, a rich woman from
the more upscaled part of the country, has acquainted herself with Will Salas, a poor man from the
ghetto. In a society where time is literally money, and once one runs out, they ... Show more content

This evidence connects to the social criticism of the dangers of stereotyping because Will assumes that
since the rich have money, they mustn t have worked for it. He think that if people have money, they
must have stole it from the poor, or eared it a dishonourable way. The director uses repetition to show
this point, because even though he meets may wealthier people who have not stolen, he still has this
negative stereotype. Though we know that may of the richer characters probably earned their money
by working for it, the less wealthy automatically assume that since they have more, they think they are
better than the rest of the people, and they give no regards to people poorer than themselves. Andrew
Niccol uses these author tools to strongly show the dangers that stereotyping can have on us. In Time
By Andrew niccol shows a criticism towards the dangers of stereotyping, which can convey a
universally believed, false facade towards a certain group. The dangers of stereotyping are shown
throughout the film, In Time, by using juxtaposition and point of view, to show the differences of the
two lives that the characters had, and show that they were taught certain untrue stereotypes about large

Analysis Of Eugene O Neill s PlayThe Emperor Jones
Eugene O Neill is widely considered the most influential of American playwrights. He is called the
founder of modern drama in the United States , and holds the title of the first American playwright to
earn a Nobel Prize in literature. (O Neill 794) His play, The Emperor Jones, is credited as being one
that provided several firsts in American theatre history: the Provincetown Players first major hit, the
first major role for an African American actor on the legitimate Broadway stage (in houses where the
audience was still racially segregated), and the play that secured O Neill s place as a writer for the
high art, experimental theatre worthy of international attention. (Steen 343) Basically, The Emperor
Jones made Eugene O Neill.
The play is a psychological study of Brutus Jone s mind, his fears, visions and dream. Tom tom is part
and parcel of the psychological action; at first it is the call to war ; then it merges into the Emperor
Jones vision of the slaves working to its beat; finally it becomes is own throbbing, feverish temples,
all the while it s our heart beating more and more rapidly as we follow his fate. lastly the Tom tom is a
symbol of man s last heart beat, death the consciousness of Jones has been presented through the
cinematographic technique of the flashback fusing the past and present. Here symbol and psychology
merge and the whole play is a long drama. Emperor Jones represents the breakdown of a Negroid

`` The Birthmark `` And `` Rappaccini s Daughter ``
Hawthorne s books are inspired and fascinate to read. They are full of science fiction and tail of
fantasies. The female characters have to face many challenges in their lives due to their natures. The
human morals and man ambition are clear in The Birthmark and Rappaccini s Daughter on which the
two stories are similar in away. The two stories appear to be similar because innocence characters
have to suffer. The hiding meanings are deep within each character and in each story. The two stories
maybe different; however, the moral behind the two stories are closely related. The female characters
are pure at hearts and innocence just like nature. However, the male characters are like the devil that
creeping upon what is natural and pure and destroy it. It is very clear to see that Hawthorne s stories
embrace the female characters and their beauties. On other hand, he reviews the males evil ambitions;
they are only seeking for their own glories by using science in created and change nature. Indeed,
without any doubt, each of the stories, the male characters caused their love ones to parish due to their
evil ambitions. In both of the stories by Hawthorne, both female characters are automatically pure at
heart and their beauties are an outstanding example of goddess. Interestingly, Beatrice and Georgiana

Essay about The Debate Over Euthanasia
The Debate Over Euthanasia
The controversy over euthanasia has recently become highly publicized. However, this issue is not a
new debate. Society has voiced its opinions on the subject for hundreds of years. Euthanasia, which is
Greek for good death , refers to the act of ending another person s life in order to end their suffering
and pain.1 Two forms, passive and active euthanasia, categorize the actions taken to end the person s
life. Passive euthanasia involves removing a patient s life support, withholding food and water, and
discontinuing medical treatments. Active euthanasia includes any direct action taken to cause the
death of the person, such as administrating a lethal drug.2 The debate over this issue stems from

Why patients turn to euthanasia
Medical procedures and treatments improve immensely every year. With the new technology and
advancements, diseases and ailments that were once deadly are not nearly as incapacitating as in
previous years. However, some remain debilitating and fatal. For example, some forms of cancer
remain terminal even after numerous attempts at treatment. Sometimes the side effects from
chemotherapy like nausea, extreme exhaustion and muscle soreness, are more severe than the
symptoms of the disease itself.6 Often times, the patients begin to feel as though the efforts being
made to cure their disease have become useless and have made their life not worthwhile. In these
cases, terminal patients might choose to simply stop the treatments. Another time when a person might
turn to euthanasia is when the illness is causing him a terrible amount of pain, and the medicine being
administered to the patient does not allow him to live the kind of life that he wants to have. Those for
euthanasia maintain that if this practice were to be legalized, there would be several restrictions on
who could be eligible for this procedure.7 A patient would have to be of sound mind, have been
stricken with a terminal illness, or be in a state of constant and crippling pain. Some notable advocates

Examples Of Fallacy
Pseudo reasoning A fallacy is a misleading or unsound argument based on a false or invalid reasoning
and is used as a premise to support a conclusion. Fallacies can be persuasive and be made both
accidentally and deliberately to delude others from the truth. Fallacies can be difficult to avoid if one
does not have the mind of a critical thinker. When utilizing the mechanisms of critical thinking one is
able to see through the misrepresentations of fallacies and to draw a valid, logical conclusion. This
essay aims to discuss how and why formal fallacies and substantive fallacies are used. Since a great
variety of formal and substantial fallacies exist, this essay will limit to show examples of the formal
fallacy affirming the consequent and the substantial inversion of cause and effect. A formal fallacy ...

Affirming the consequent can be derived in the form of if P then Q where P is the antecedent and the
consequent of the conditional is Q. To illustrate this, a quote from Donald Trump, candidate for
President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election, on the recent terror attack in Paris is
presented: When you look at Paris, you know, the toughest gun laws in the World, Paris, nobody had
guns but the bad guys, nobody had guns. They were just shooting them one by one... And I ll tell you
what, you can say what you want, but if they had guns, if they were allowed to carry guns, it would
have been a much much different situation By reconstructing this example as an argument with
premises and conclusion it would look like this: P1) If the victims were allowed to carry guns (P), then
the situation would have been much different (Q). P2) The victims might have survived (Q). C)
Therefore France should allow their citizens to carry guns

Pay Attention To Nonviolence Analysis
Violence is contagious, it spreads through a population like a virus, and yet we still pass it along to our
children. Violence is the manifest for War; War is the breeding ground for violence because violence
knows no disregards nor does it have a conscience of right or wrong. Violence is the opposite of
progression and advancement, because it promotes anger and hostility. So why do we think in terms of
violence first and non violence second? Is it our primitive instinct of aggression that takes over? The
people in Budrus would disagree. In Pay Attention to Nonviolence , the people of Palestine did apply
nonviolence resistance on the occupying forces of the Israeli soldiers and settlers. For which the Israel

The Charge Of The Light Brigade Analysis
Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote the The Charge of the Light Brigade on December 2nd, 1854, and it was
then published on December 9th. This poem was written following the disastrous Battle of Balaklava,
between the British Light Brigade forces and the Russian forces (Connors 3). Alfred Lord Tennyson
wrote this poem to commemorate the lives lost, and it seems to be littered with Biblical allusions.
Specifically, this poem has striking diction similarity to Psalm 23 from the King James Version of the
Bible. This discovery spurs the question of whether Alfred Lord Tennyson was directly influenced by
the Psalm, and if so, in what way?
The Charge of the Light Brigade was written when Lord Tennyson learned of the carnage at the
decisive and devastating Battle of Balaklava for the British. The battle was initiated when the overall
commander of British forces, Lord Raglan, ordered the Light Brigade to follow but not to attack the
Russian enemy. Through the chain of command, this message was distorted and then one of the
commanders, Lord Nolan, drove the final nail in the coffin as he ambiguously ordered the troops to
seize the Russian guns as he gestured in the general direction of both the hilltop redoubts and the
adjacent valley (Connors 2). The troops, confused by this order, followed their leader into battle since
they knew it was not their place to argue. The ensuing battle led to the death of half of the Light
Brigade (Connors 2). Due to this tragic event, the British people

fearful hobbit embarking on a journey with dwarves who are seeking revenge on a dragon named

extraordinary things. This main character is Bilbo Baggins. Gandalf persuades him to set off on a great

The Hobbit is set in Middle Earth, which is a fantasy land created by J R R Tolkien. In this particular
book the middle earth is restricted to the western lands. The story begins and ends in Hobbiton, a town
in the shire. This is a peaceful town where Bilbo is from and is usually untouched by troubles and
dangerous creatures such as trolls and goblins. As the book progresses the story guides us through the
forest of Mirkwood, the lonely mountains, ruins of Dale, Laketown and of course the Misty
Mountains where the dwarves rightful home is located inside the mountain. I really like the area where
this amazing story is set as the land is full of many interesting and magical places such as the forest of
Mirkwood and the elves palace. The land changes so much throughout the story, it goes through
mountains, forests, fields, lakes, rivers, palaces and kingdoms and this compelled me to read on
because I was so entranced by these amazing regions. The cultural climate is similar to that of England
in the Middle Ages as magic was a powerful force and many believed in the existence of goblins and
elves. Altogether England and middle earth have many parallels. This setting influences the story as it
provides an evil race, which opposes the dwarves, and it influences the magic involved within this
book which plays a massive part in the dwarves fight as without Gandalf s Magic they would not have
made it as far as the misty mountains. I really liked the setting as it enticed me to persist in reading the
book and it added many interesting aspects which influences the story and how the events played

The Main Effects Of The Reichstag Fire
Which was more important to Hitler, the Reichstag Fire or the Enabling Act?
Both the Reichstag Fire and the Enabling Act contributed to Hitler becoming Der Fuhrer . Though
would the Enabling Act have been attainable if it were not for the Reichstag fire? I doubt many of the
events that followed the fire would ve occurred if the Reichstag building was still intact. Ergo, I
believe that the fire was more important to Hitler. Throughout this essay I will look at the effects of
both events analysing supporting evidence to evaluate how they impacted Hitler. The main effects of
the Reichstag fire are the following: it created a state of emergency, it made enemies of the
Communists and increased support for the Nazis. The main effects of the Enabling act are the
following: it transformed the democracy into a dictatorship, it allowed Hitler to ban all other political
parties and enforced terror and censorship.
Either the Nazis were extremely lucky and Lubbe started the Reichstag Fire on the night of February
29th, 1933, or they staged the fire themselves. Nevertheless, the burning of the building provided
Hitler with the perfect opportunity to declare a state of emergency so he could use Article 48. (A law
under the Weimar constitution, which, in the case of an emergency, would allow him to pass any new
laws without consulting the Reichstag). Hitler used Article 48 to introduce the Reichstag Fire Decree
and the Enabling Act. The cartoon The Red Peril 1 by British cartoonist

Suicide In Beowulf
Dante pieces together a very well fitted relationship between the sin and punishment in Canto XIII by
taking the sinners willingness to commit suicide in hopes that they will no longer feel pain, and

through the screaming of the sinners, the change of their physical state and loss of identity, and the
withstanding between their souls and their bodies.
As Virgil and Dante enter the second ring of the seventh circle of hell, they are in a dark forest,

Attachment Stereotypes
The authors are trying to understand how language used in emotion regulation processes relate to
attachment styles. Attachment classifications are known to be associated with psychosocial outcomes.
Similarly, language use is also associated with psychiatric diagnoses. It will be interesting to see if
language use differs across attachment styles in regards to emotion regulation and also if the findings
can be valid for clinical as well as non clinical contexts. In this study the authors asked whether the
language people use to describe their attachment history would explain the variability in emotional
distress after controlling for attachment classification. They hypothesize that people with Autonomous

Feminist Synthesis
By essentialism, Barry refers to the pure essence of the feminine which is assumed through Cixous
concept of écriture feminine (128). This idea is one which identifies femininity as a given entity which
is somehow just mysteriously there in a singular form, thus denying its existence as a social construct
that is shaped and conditioned in unique ways across different cultures (128). Cixous presents it as
impregnable to any form of conditioning, therefore characterizing the writing s syntax with spirit that
naturally emanates due to one s physical existence as a woman (128). These overarching
generalizations ultimately limit women to a very narrow identity category, consequently granting the

How To Visit To Fayetteville
Fayetteville, West Virginia
Reflection Essay
Melissa Gardner
Liberty University
The town of Fayetteville, West Virginia is very important and is fun to visit. Fayetteville is the county
seat of Fayette County and the town was established in 1837. I am constantly going to Fayetteville for
various reasons, including going to see the historic sites and to do business at the Courthouse. I just
recently had to visit the Courthouse to receive my marriage license and certificate, but the Courthouse
is available for other important activities. The town of Fayetteville has been ranked in the Top 10

The Monarch Butterfly Annual Migration
Introduction
The monarch butterfly annual migration is a visually spectacular feat, in terms of the number of
butterflies flying to their overwintering sites and as well as the masses that congregates at the
overwintering sites in Mexico. The idea that monarch butterflies exhibited migratory behavior was
once controversial, it was not until Fred Urquhart and his colleagues pioneered a tagging work with
the eastern North American population for decades that revealed the long distance of the monarch
migration. The tagging efforts that began in 1937 lead to the discovery of their overwintering sites in
Mexico in 1975. With its long distance traveled and the nature of the predictable and the repetitive
nature of its annual migration. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Environmental factors such as the decrease in day length, cooler temperature and aging milkweed
trigger the monarch to begin its migration, although the precise environmental trigger that initiates
migration is not well understood. When spring arrives, they become reproductively active, mate and
leave Mexico to re migrate north. During the remigration northward the females lay fertilized eggs on
newly emerged milkweeds in the southern parts of the United States (Reppert and others 2010). Their
offspring s will also continue the migration up northward to repopulate the northern section of the
monarch habitat range. Even though the monarch migration is repetitive and cyclic in nature, their
migration cycle is multigenerational. It takes about two generations of spring and summer butterflies
that are following the progressive northward emergence of milkweeds to repopulate the entire range
and therefore completing the migration cycle (Reppert and others 2010).
Time Compensated Sun Compass (The Navigational process)
The Monarch butterfly uses a map and a compass like other long distance migrants. The map sense is
needed to determine which direction they are to fly and to stop. The compass sense is utilized so that
the migrants can orient in the southern direction throughout the course of their migration. It has been
shown that the monarch may not have a true map sense, although the monarch

Article Review On Human Rights
My assignment will be a discussion about Article 6 (Right to a fair trial) of the HRA 1998. I will
explore the article and define it in detail. I will explain why this article is particularly important for a
Police officer/Investigator dealing with an offender from the beginning of a case until a court
appearance. Furthermore I will discuss the possible consequences if the Police officer/Investigator
fails to comply with Article 6. Article 6 (the right to a fair trial) has been developed over centuries,
originally copied from sources such as the Magna Carta, the 1689 Bill of Rights and the common law.

Analysis Of Glenn Miller s In The Mood
Beethoven s Opus 131, 1st movement; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlFYC1U5viw The first
movement of Beethoven s Opus 131 begins with the first violin playing a dulcet melody in the key of
C# minor with an adagio tempo. A second violin player soon joins in playing the same melody, but
with a slightly lower pitch, in the style of a round. The lower voices continue to follow this pattern
until the cello has joined in to create a flowing rhythm. This feeling a motion is created through the
use of slurs, crescendos, and decrescendos. The combination of these symbols and the rising and
falling pitches being played creates a very emotional piece.
The instruments present in this piece are those in a classical string quartet, two violins, a viola, and a
cello. Quartets are often regarded as one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its call and response melody that continues through the piece gives an uplifting feeling, song with the
C major key it is written in. This key has no sharps or flats and is one of the most commonly used key
signature in western music. The woodwinds begin the call and response, which is followed by the
brass. While this is going on the bass is playing the root of the chords and the drum set is following a
swing beat.
When listening to this piece you can hear the joy behind the notes. This is because of the types of
notes used and the tempo. When looking at the written sheet music the amount of eighth notes is very
noticeable. The consistency of these notes does not add to the drama of the piece. It is the crescendos
and decrescendos that does that. This piece calls for extreme changes in the dynamics, which gives a
finale feel. All of these elements combine to create a piece that is not only joyful, but dramatic and
mysterious.

An Effective And Economical Approach For Extracting Depth...
Abstract:
In the reference paper, an effective and economical approach for extracting depth information and
recovering sharp image is provided. Mainly, a new deconvolution method, sparse prior provides more
accurate deconvolution results and improves depth discrimination; so, both image information and
depth information can be recovered from the modified photograph taken by the camera using coded
aperture.
In my paper, two optimizations for the deconvolution will be provided by using regular iterative least
square method (RILS) and iterative reweighted least square method (IRLS). By using the optimization
deconvolution algorithms, we can recover the original image with more acceptable recovered image.
The runtime for the original ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Background:
In the reference paper, a photo taken by camera follows: y=f*x+n (2) where f is a scaled version of
the aperture, the n is noise, the x is the real sharp image and the y is the received photo. Accordingly,
if f is already known (how to design f is discussed in the reference paper), people needs to deconvolve
y to recover x. There are several deconvolution algorithms currently, including Richardson Lucy
deconvolution algorithm. In this work, a new deconvolution strategy, the sparse prior , is proposed.
Assume that the derivatives of the unobserved real x follows a zero mean Gaussian distribution, so it
follows:
P(x)∝∏_(i,j)▒e^( 0.5α((x(i,j) x(i+1,j))^2+(x(i,j) x(i,j+1))^2)) (3)
Consider (x(i,j) x(i+1,j))^2 and (x(i,j) x(i,j+1))^2 are the convolution between gx = [1, 1] and x, gy =
[1, 1] T and x, respectively. Accordingly, the P(x) can be expressed as:
P(x)∝N(0,α (CgxTCgx+ CgyTCgy) 1) (4) where a should be a constant that is selected by human,
Cgx and Cgy are the convolution matrix for gx and gy, respectively. Assume n ~ N(0, η2I), the
resulted photo y can be expressed as: P(y)∝N(0, CfTα (CgxTCgx+ CgyTCgy) 1Cf+ η2I) (5)
Under this statistical model, the deconvolution problem can be

Enabling Others To Act Research Paper
Enabling others to act is not about delegating tasks to them. Instead, it is about making them believe in
themselves, their capability and the goal is to inspire them to overcome their limits and find success.
Enabling others to act is not about people completing given tasks, it is more about making people feel
like they are a valuable component of the team and to engage them in discussions while helping them
develop their self confidence. When I think of enabling others to act, I think of the way my coaches

Essay about Lonliness and Friendship in Of Mice And Men
Lonliness and Friendship in Of Mice And Men
In terms of emotional stability, there is one thing in life that is really needed, and that is friends.
Without friends, people would suffer from lonliness and solitude. Lonliness leads to low self esteem
and deprivation. In the novel, Of Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck, the two main themes are
friendship and lonliness.
There are two main characters, George and Lennie. Lennie is a massive man with incredible strength,
but has a childs mind. George is a fairly sized man who is not incredibly strong, but has good common
sense. What one man lacks, the other man makes up for. It is a perfect example of how ... Show more

He would yell at Lennie and tell him if he didnt have him he could go and do as he pleased. When in
reality George did not want these things. He was greatful to have a friend in Lennie, so he would not
have to be alone. With Lennie s simple mind, he could not comprehend what George was talking
about most of the time. He believed that George got upset over simple things such as ketchup. He too
was very thankful to have George to go along with. Although he did not understand the complexity of
things sometimes, he knew that he had a true friend who he trusted wouldnt leave him.
The friendship between Lennie and George went beyond what was unambiguous, they shared a
common dream, and they never stopped trying to acheive their dream. They dream of a peice of land
of their own. Independence. A couple of acres, a cow, some pigs, and rabbits that Lennie dreams of
tending to. Their dream will later be shattered by fate.
The unlikely destroyer of George and Lennie s dream is a young woman who is married to the boss s
son Curley. The theme of loneliness is again shown in Curley s wife. Her loneliness is so determined
to her that she becomes a flirt and is still lonely. She attempts to use herself to gain the attention of the
ranchers to sooth her loneliness. These acts gave her a sense of relief and made her feel wanted so she

Investigating The Crime Of A Criminal Trial
In chapter thirteen, Anderson and Gardner discuss the measures in gathering evidence to identify an
offender in a criminal trial. In a criminal trial, the prosecutor must prove the crime alleged of the
suspect did occur (prove of corpus delicti), and/or that the defendant committed or was a party to the
crime committed. Therefore, direct and circumstantial evidence is used to substantiate the defendant
has committed the crime. Identification evidence may account for several factors, in which include:
identification by the victim of the crime. Identification by the eyewitnesses. Confessions, admissions,

319). Mistaken eyewitness identification is usually due to a number of estimator variables: Stress,
Duration of events, Witness character, Memory decay, and several others. These variables initially can
cause the witness to make a misidentification.
In addition to eyewitness identification, line ups and showups are used to identify a witness or a
suspect. Lineups are an identification procedure, in which the witness or the victim of the crime is able
to observe and pick out any possible suspects related to the crime. As for a showup, the witness of the
crime is able to view the suspect alone, without other possible suspects. For example, when a suspect
is apprehended, a police officer could rely on a showup procedure and present the victim of the crime
with a drive by of the detainee in an effort to identify the suspect. These identification procedures are
important for the witness because they provided a comfortable setting in which can help them be as
precise as possible in making a identification.
The use of photographs or sketches are essential in identifying a suspect of a crime. Nonsuggestive
photo arrays include multiple photographs, usually six or eight, showing a person of the same general
description. The

Hardy s four game suspension but also for the entire season. For starters, nobody should sleep on

team captain after Justin Durant went on IR. This is a contract year for him and at the age of 31 he

There were several times last season when Jeremy Mincey and Henry Melton got the credit for the

Comparing Smartphone Vs Smart Phones
Smartphones are overtaking the technology world by making it easier for people to communicate with
each other every day; and everything they need to do can be done right on their smartphones. Instead
of having to use cameras to take pictures, computers to send emails and to play games it all can be
done on one simple device; the smartphone. A big debate that still has not been settled is whether
iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than Samsungs,
however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic phone requirements
such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the iPhone can and more.
However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people s needs because it has everything the iPhone
has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it can set custom ringtones for
different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps which allows work to get done
faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. This is important because people will know when
to pick up the phone based on the ringtone that has been assigned to a specific person.
First of all, Samsungs have better and longer lasting battery life than iPhones do. Samsungs also have
the ability to remove the battery from the phone and it also has fast charging so that the phone can be
used as many times as needed without the problem of the battery running out. For instance, there s no

The differences in Josephine and Mrs. Mallard are evident in their reactions to the news of Mr.
Mallard s death. Josephine cannot find a ray of hope in Mr. Mallard s death. She is overwhelmed with
sadness. She is very careful how she tells Mrs. Mallard of her husband s death. Josephine uses broken
sentences and veiled hints when telling Mrs. Mallard of Mr. Mallard s death. Josephine knows that
Mrs. Mallard depends on her husband for everything. However, Mrs. Mallard s reaction to the news is
very different. Mrs. Mallard loves her husband. She is saddened by the news, but she is able to see
into the future. She is able to see a future with color and brightness. Mrs. Mallard feels set free from
bondage. She no longer sees a world of restrictions but a world of opportunity and adventure. Her
husband s death brings revival to her soul. Chopin says, Mrs. Mallard is drinking in a very elixir of
life through that open window. The news of Mr. Mallard s death is tragic but brings very different

Essay about Role of Computer in Parametric Design
With the technological revolution, the telecommunications and information technologies opened the

the everyday operation of buildings and the city. After all, the current revolution is not just about the

In this stage it is important to introduce the definition of parametric design It is a methodology of
using advanced visualization technology and mathematical algorithms to optimize structure and
material form to advance resource efficiency and innovative solutions within the area of built
environment . In other words, parametric design is a process of finding suitable parameters for a
design problem and setting up a predicted computed model which can be used to explore the possible
solutions. Therefore, it helps architects to generate precise forms instead of very complex and
sophisticated relations between elements and subsystems (Schumacher, 2008) . This means that
parametric design aims to produce simple forms which are less complicated and related somehow to
the form abstraction. In terms of physical models, the parametric design now acts as an important tool
to test and improve designing concepts instead of the convention models. In the past, physical models
act as main complementary tools and are made by hand which would cost money and time. Victor
Gane, (2004) states that using physical models in finding the architectural solutions would be less
feasible and has a modest contribution to the contemporary discourse of parametric design. This is the
way digital tools play a vital role when designing parametrically. However, it is possible to design
parametrically by using the convention physical mode and experiments, for

DBT has $40,000 worth of debt outstanding with interest rate of 5%. There are 500 shares of equity
outstanding for DBT Corp. After the interest expense,

(b) What is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What would be the total equity value if Upjohn were 100% equity finance?
1.
(a) Since EQT is an all equity firm, its earnings are $22,000. Thus firm value is the equity value,
which is the discounted future dividends, VEQT =EEQT =$22,000/22% =$100,000. Since there are
1,000 share outstanding, price of EQT is: PEQT
= $100,000/1,000=$100 per share. DBT is a leveled company. Since DBT and EQT are exactly the
same except for their capital structure. We can consider DBT as the leveled company of EQT.
According to MMI, when there is no tax, the value of an all equity firm should be equal to the value of
the leveled company. Therefore, we have VDBT
=VEQT = $100,000. The total equity value of DBT should be EDBT = VDBT DDBT = $100,000
$40,000 = $60,000.
Therefore, we have the stock price for DBT: PDBT = $60,000/500=$120
(b) The expected return on DBT: ($22,000 5%*$40,000)/$60,000=33.33%. Therefore DBT is riskier
than EQT since
EQT has fewer number of equityholders but bears the same total amount of risk.
(c) John s total dividend payment from holding 200 shares of EQTT Corp is $4,400 (=22%*
($100*200)). Since DBT is a leveled company, you need to unlevel yourself by selling some of your
shares in DBT and deposit the proceeds at the risk free rate. Suppose you will need to sell x shares in
DBT, i.e. to deposit ($120*x), your total income flow will be
[$120*(212 x)*33.33%+$120*x*5%].

The Prices Of College Tuitions
The trend continues with the skyrocketing prices of college tuitions. This is not an uncommon issue
the days of college tuition being affordable are slowly fading into the past. This conundrum has
brought to light the idea of using tax money to help pay tuition. This idea has vast potential, but can it
reach its potential.
This is an issue that affects many people thus there is a multitude of literature on the issues of tax
money being used for tuition. The literature ranges from an online to radio and through these mediums
will provide the views on this issue. That range from the college and the use of funding from sports to
the student.
(NEEDS HEADING)
Rise in tuition is often seen as a school trying to gauge as much as money as they can from the
students. A view most forgotten in this argument is that of the school. The school has to have money to
feed the students and house the students plus teach them. Those three things are a necessity for the
students. Schools would face lawsuit after lawsuit if they failed to feed the students. The school also
has to pay its employees and hire new ones that leave.
The online article best value schools provide a view from a schools stance by informing the reader on
issues schools face. The author points out the common issues. The more students the more money
needed to support them and if a school wants to make money it will take as many as it can get
(unknown). The schools also rely on government funding to help defray some of the

Demand Curve, Supply Curve Equilibrium. The Demand Curve
Demand Curve, Supply Curve Equilibrium
The demand curve can be shown in a graph and it reflects the relationship between the price and
amount of a commodity that people are able and willing to buy at a set price. The demand curve slopes
downward because are more prone to buying a good as the price declines. For example, coffee
drinkers may be willing to buy more cups of Starbucks coffee if a medium cup of regular coffee sells
for $1.49 versus $2.10. Instead of buying one cup a day they may buy 2 or 3 cups a day. Lower prices
increase the demand for higher quantities (Hill, n.d.). In many cases, the supply curve slopes upward
from left to right, because the price of product and quantity supplied are correlated. Demand and
supply curves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the government adopts a price control, there is no longer an equilibrium price determined by
supply and demand. When government set price ceilings or price floors, they disrupt the normal
direction of distributing available resources (Mankiw, 2015). A good example is when the government
changes the minimum wage laws to increase the hourly rate in hopes of helping the poor, and this also
results in others being unemployed. Since the companies would not have to pay more to produce the
same quantity, they are forced to lay off some of their employees. The government has an influence on
supply and demand by controlling the prices of certain goods and regulations in certain industries. The
government can impose taxes on goods and services to raise revenue that may be used to subsidize
projects and government funded programs. When taxes are imposed on goods and services, the
government determines tax incidence, meaning who will pay taxes among those partaking in the
market economy. Whether the levied tax is paid by the seller or the buyer, it affects both directly and
indirectly (Hill, n.d.). For example, let s say that Starbuck s paid a tax on the import of whole coffee
beans. Although the tax would be imposed on Starbucks the cost would be passed on to consumers of

Have Smartphones Destroy A Generation Essay
Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation Besides the cell phone, does technology really affect us in
our society? Today s generation of teenagers are using smartphones much of the time. Researchers
also found that many teenagers are using more smartphones. This constant use of technology has had
negative effects on today s youth. Constant use of technology by teenagers is harmful because it
causes depression and affects education Jean M. Twinge proved that showing the bar graph of using
smartphones during the day and night; they found lots of impact. Smartphones have defined the
characteristics of the millennials; this is why it has led to changes in the society. The author has been
researching the use of smartphones with this generation for 25 years and has found that this
characteristic has come to define this generation. This generation has been increasing since the baby

Achilles Villain
There is a fine line between a villain and hero. Not only are deeds taken into consideration, but actions
as well. Much like real life, it is never easy knowing who plays what role until the final moments of
their life. But is it fair to just take the bad moments and use them against a person? Does not the
means justify the end? Achilles had a struggle within himself as well as externally with Agamemnon.
Achilles had to decide whether he should be taken advantage of to help his city or go against his
principles to save his pride. During Achilles time, the Greeks considered him a hero due to his birth as
a demigod. He was the son of the nymph Thetis and the mortal Peleus. When Achilles was nine years
old, Calchas told him about a prophecy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His departure was not a sign of cowardice. He was trying to prove a point to Agamemnon that his
taking Briseis, Achilles war prize, was dishonorable and insulting. The battle that they had fought in
which he had taken her captive had already proven his prowess as a warrior, and because he wanted it
known that he was the greatest of the Achaean warriors and they could not triumph without him. Troy
could not fall without the help of Achilles, as prophesied by Calchas.Achilles had to make a tough
decision prior to just letting them walk into their own deaths. Agamemnon demanded that Achilles
bride and war prize Briseis be given to him. Achilles believed that the demand was unjust and
resembled that of Paris kidnapping Helen. He was in the same position as Menelaos. The argument
between himself and Agamemnon was as righteous as war to Achilles. Even though Agamemnon
offered to return Briseis and other numerous gifts, Achilles stays angry. This does indicate one of
Achilles flaw: excessive pride. Agamemnon may have offered gifts, but none amount to the public
insult that Achilles had suffered. Achilles would rather have his pride restored then have anything in
the world. Agamemnon also has a history of given and taken back gifts resulting in empty

Why have so many rules that aren t even followed by hundreds of people?By this sorts of actions the
school s reputation lowers every time that a student is being counted tardy because other districts only

obtained per class year.Hundreds of things are discussed within the thousands of students that walk in
the hallways from one side to another. However, one thing that all school students on campus can agree
on changing is the tardy bell system. The principal should change the tardy system from the school
because the students might have late dismissal from a class and it is unfair for them to receive
punishment when they try to be early all the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In today s business industry, there are a number of management and external factors that each
organisation has to deal with during day to day circumstances. These factors include topic areas such
as technology, sustainability, leadership and management and the common environmental factors. On
a global scale, every organisation will act differently which brings the number of competitive elements
to rise. Within my essay I will discuss these issues in relation to Marks and Spencer, a major British
multinational retailer. As a leading high street name, they specialise in the selling of clothing, home
goods, and luxury food products making it a major competitor to other retailers.

The most recent figures available show M S s UK business turning over £8.9bn last year; compared to
John Lewis and Waitrose £9bn achieved this year. Compared to John Lewis, M S is still playing catch
up with the re launch of its website. This involves simple marketing techniques including; visitors
being greeted by eye catching images that broadcast the sites new offers, again a manager s position to
overcome and deal with. Thus overall resulting in an increase in customer brand loyalty, a boost in
profit, and the possibility of increasing their short term market share.
Doing a SWOT analysis on M S indicates their winning strengths such as their comfort of the past
years being one of the most awarded companies in the industry, therefore their brand identity and
customer loyalty lying at a constant profitable level. M S are also one of the most sustainable supply
chain with one of the most efficiently built organisation in the industry. Weakness s they need to
consider are the high cost of the products offered in comparison to rivals. Also for business and
marketing strategies, the necessity of the new marketing strategy focusing on the younger audience is
a big concentrated factor to be working on due to their current middle aged target market. This has
been dealt with concentrating on their younger gender packaging, making it gender neutral solely

Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper and Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door are both stories about women protagonists who feel emotionally isolated from their husbands, who both go by the name John. Ann in The Painted the Door and the wife whose name may or may not be Jane in The Yellow Wallpaper are women who deal with emotional isolation. Emotional isolation is a state of isolation where one may be in a relationship but still feel emotional separation. In these two stories, both women feel emotionally isolated from their husbands due to lack of communication. In both stories, lack of communication results from one individual failing to disclose their true feelings and instead he or she are beating around the bush, hoping the other party will know what they want. If both parties directly disclose their desires and feelings to one another, there would be a better understanding of each other which as a result would help save marriages. This paper will look at how both women lack communication, how they both their approach their emotional isolation differently, and how their failure to communicate to their husbands and their approach, results in the failure to save their marriage. The Painted Door and The Yellow Wallpaper are stories that show how both women protagonists are emotionally isolated due to their failure to communicate their feelings and desires to their husbands. • 3. Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids, left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London, England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure. In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly eased. Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids, attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mending the Transatlantic Rift Essay Mending the Transatlantic Rift The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 ushered in an era of dramatic change for foreign policy and the international system. Most obviously, the United States sense of invulnerability eroded as an acute awareness to the perils of terrorism gripped the American public. In American foreign policy, the dominant paradigms evolved. Whereas the Cold War notion of the centrality of powerful nation states had helped order the Bush administration s outlook before the attacks, the new paradigms explicitly accounted for the importance of non state actors and rogue regimes as the salient elements of American foreign policy. In emphasizing rogue states, President George W. Bush focused on regime change in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Established as a Cold War era counterweight to Soviet power, NATO is characterized by its commitment to democratic values and practices that, along with its unique, integrated military structure, sustains it even at times when its members short term strategic calculations diverge. (Hunter) In theory, then, the bonds between the United States and Europe should be close and enduring. Indeed, the interests of the two entities have largely converged throughout NATO s half century history despite occasional differences. A rift has emerged in this alliance in the aftermath of the attacks of September11, 2002 that analysts characterize as unprecedented in its scope, intensity, and, at times, pettiness. (Asmus) Immediately after the attacks, Europe coalesced in support for the United States as sympathy for Americans dominated public opinion. The goodwill evaporated quickly, however, when it became clear that the United States planned to use the altered geopolitical landscape as one of the justifications for a preemptive war to displace Saddam Hussein s dictatorial ... Beechwood is a owned by Cadence Sinclair s grandparents Harris Sinclair and Tipper Taft who unfortunately dies early on in the novel. Harris and Tipper have lots of money and were able to build four different buildings for each aunt to live in (along with their partners and children) and a staff building for their workers. All the families travel out to Beechwood every summer and the Liars, Cadence, Johnny, Gat, and Mirren, are all cousins and at the age of fifteen. They name their summers by their ages so for instance, the novel mainly takes place in summer seventeen with flashbacks to summer fifteen from Cadence. The setting is very important because Beechwood is where all the kids practically grow up and where conflicts take place. You would think that Beechwood island is a happy place where memories are made and where everyone has fun, but the island is not. It sets an eerie and unpleasant mood for the story because of all the secrets and rough family matters that occur during summer seventeen. Beechwood island is the setting of the novel that gives off an eerie mood that affects the Liar s summers. Corinthian Religion The church that Paul had established in Corinth was all sorts of controversies and divisions such as division among themselves, lawsuits before unbelievers, moral disorders etc... Paul addressed the Corinthian believers but also it seems his letter is relevant to all followers of Christ up to this date. I therefore would like to choose one issue which is moral disorder sexual immorality happened in Corinth. Besides other issues, Paul also had to deal with the problem of sexual immorality (1Cor. 6:12 20). Clearly that some of the Corinthians were going to prostitutes. It seems like the Corinthians wanted to justify themselves in saying, Food for the stomach and the stomach for food (6:13) or just simply say when you are hungry, you eat. However, in regarding to this, Paul addressed that the body is the members of Christ (6:15) and the temple of the Holy Spirit (6:19); not to be used for immorality, but for the Lord (6:13). He also argued that For the two, it says, will become one flesh (6:16). This implied to the human marriage where the love of husband and wife reflect the love of Christ for his Church. No one is allowing separating them. Also, he asserted that our bodies no longer belong to us but to Christ. Then we should not do anything to harm them for if we are united to prostitutes are actually harmful to the body. ** Now a day, we all admit that our society is somewhat has sexuality disorder in terms of premarital sexual, sexual active, living together before marry. They create a facade of a preeminent characteristic. They can have dire consequences, become emotionally damaging attacks, which often results in hurting many people mentally and even physically. This stereotyping shown In the film In Time, by Andrew Niccol. This evidence connects to the social criticism of the dangers of stereotyping because Will assumes that since the rich have money, they mustn t have worked for it. He think that if people have money, they must have stole it from the poor, or eared it a dishonourable way. The director uses repetition to show this point, because even though he meets may wealthier people who have not stolen, he still has this negative stereotype. Though we know that may of the richer characters probably earned their money by working for it, the less wealthy automatically assume that since they have more, they think they are better than the rest of the people, and they give no regards to people poorer than themselves. Andrew Niccol uses these author tools to strongly show the dangers that stereotyping can have on us. Society has voiced its opinions on the subject for hundreds of years. Euthanasia, which is Greek for good death , refers to the act of ending another person s life in order to end their suffering and pain.1 Two forms, passive and active euthanasia, categorize the actions taken to end the person s life. Passive euthanasia involves removing a patient s life support, withholding food and water, and discontinuing medical treatments. Active euthanasia includes any direct action taken to cause the death of the person, such as administrating a lethal drug.2 The debate over this issue stems from moral, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why patients turn to euthanasia Medical procedures and treatments improve immensely every year. With the new technology and advancements, diseases and ailments that were once deadly are not nearly as incapacitating as in previous years. However, some remain debilitating and fatal. For example, some forms of cancer remain terminal even after numerous attempts at treatment. Sometimes the side effects from chemotherapy like nausea, extreme exhaustion and muscle soreness, are more severe than the symptoms of the disease itself.6 Often times, the patients begin to feel as though the efforts being made to cure their disease have become useless and have made their life not worthwhile. In these cases, terminal patients might choose to simply stop the treatments. Another time when a person might turn to euthanasia is when the illness is causing him a terrible amount of pain, and the medicine being administered to the patient does not allow him to live the kind of life that he wants to have. Those for euthanasia maintain that if this practice were to be legalized, there would be several restrictions on who could be eligible for this procedure.7 A patient would have to be of sound mind, have been stricken with a terminal illness, or be in a state of constant and crippling pain. This poem was written following the disastrous Battle of Balaklava, between the British Light Brigade forces and the Russian forces (Connors 3). Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote this poem to commemorate the lives lost, and it seems to be littered with Biblical allusions. Specifically, this poem has striking diction similarity to Psalm 23 from the King James Version of the Bible. This discovery spurs the question of whether Alfred Lord Tennyson was directly influenced by the Psalm, and if so, in what way? The Charge of the Light Brigade was written when Lord Tennyson learned of the carnage at the decisive and devastating Battle of Balaklava for the British. The battle was initiated when the overall commander of British forces, Lord Raglan, ordered the Light Brigade to follow but not to attack the Russian enemy. Through the chain of command, this message was distorted and then one of the commanders, Lord Nolan, drove the final nail in the coffin as he ambiguously ordered the troops to seize the Russian guns as he gestured in the general direction of both the hilltop redoubts and the adjacent valley (Connors 2). The troops, confused by this order, followed their leader into battle since they knew it was not their place to argue. The ensuing battle led to the death of half of the Light Brigade (Connors 2). Both the Reichstag Fire and the Enabling Act contributed to Hitler becoming Der Fuhrer . Though would the Enabling Act have been attainable if it were not for the Reichstag fire? I doubt many of the events that followed the fire would ve occurred if the Reichstag building was still intact. Ergo, I believe that the fire was more important to Hitler. Throughout this essay I will look at the effects of both events analysing supporting evidence to evaluate how they impacted Hitler. The main effects of the Enabling act are the following: it transformed the democracy into a dictatorship, it allowed Hitler to ban all other political parties and enforced terror and censorship. Either the Nazis were extremely lucky and Lubbe started the Reichstag Fire on the night of February 29th, 1933, or they staged the fire themselves. Nevertheless, the burning of the building provided Hitler with the perfect opportunity to declare a state of emergency so he could use Article 48. By using the optimization deconvolution algorithms, we can recover the original image with more acceptable recovered image. The runtime for the original ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Background: In the reference paper, a photo taken by camera follows: y=f*x+n (2) where f is a scaled version of the aperture, the n is noise, the x is the real sharp image and the y is the received photo. Accordingly, if f is already known (how to design f is discussed in the reference paper), people needs to deconvolve y to recover x. There are several deconvolution algorithms currently, including Richardson Lucy deconvolution algorithm. In this work, a new deconvolution strategy, the sparse prior , is proposed. Assume that the derivatives of the unobserved real x follows a zero mean Gaussian distribution, so it follows: P(x)∝∏_(i,j)▒e^( 0.5α((x(i,j) x(i+1,j))^2+(x(i,j) x(i,j+1))^2)) (3) Consider (x(i,j) x(i+1,j))^2 and (x(i,j) x(i,j+1))^2 are the convolution between gx = [1, 1] and x, gy = [1, 1] T and x, respectively. Accordingly, the P(x) can be expressed as: P(x)∝N(0,α (CgxTCgx+ CgyTCgy) 1) (4) where a should be a constant that is selected by human, Cgx and Cgy are the convolution matrix for gx and gy, respectively. Assume n ~ N(0, η2I), the resulted photo y can be expressed as: P(y)∝N(0, CfTα (CgxTCgx+ CgyTCgy) 1Cf+ η2I) (5) Under this statistical model, the deconvolution problem can be ... In the novel, Of Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck, the two main themes are friendship and lonliness. There are two main characters, George and Lennie. In a criminal trial, the prosecutor must prove the crime alleged of the suspect did occur (prove of corpus delicti), and/or that the defendant committed or was a party to the crime committed. Therefore, direct and circumstantial evidence is used to substantiate the defendant has committed the crime. Mistaken eyewitness identification is usually due to a number of estimator variables: Stress, Duration of events, Witness character, Memory decay, and several others. Lineups are an identification procedure, in which the witness or the victim of the crime is able to observe and pick out any possible suspects related to the crime. As for a showup, the witness of the crime is able to view the suspect alone, without other possible suspects. For example, when a suspect is apprehended, a police officer could rely on a showup procedure and present the victim of the crime with a drive by of the detainee in an effort to identify the suspect. With one position improved in the rush men rotation, who else can the Cowboys count on to contribute not only during Hardy s four game suspension but also for the entire season. For starters, nobody should sleep on Jeremy Mincey. A big debate that still has not been settled is whether iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than Samsungs, however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic phone requirements such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the iPhone can and more. However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people s needs because it has everything the iPhone has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it can set custom ringtones for different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps which allows work to get done faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. In this stage it is important to introduce the definition of parametric design It is a methodology of using advanced visualization technology and mathematical algorithms to optimize structure and material form to advance resource efficiency and innovative solutions within the area of built environment . In other words, parametric design is a process of finding suitable parameters for a design problem and setting up a predicted computed model which can be used to explore the possible solutions. Therefore, it helps architects to generate precise forms instead of very complex and sophisticated relations between elements and subsystems (Schumacher, 2008) . This means that parametric design aims to produce simple forms which are less complicated and related somehow to the form abstraction. In terms of physical models, the parametric design now acts as an important tool to test and improve designing concepts instead of the convention models. In the past, physical models act as main complementary tools and are made by hand which would cost money and time. Victor Gane, (2004) states that using physical models in finding the architectural solutions would be less feasible and has a modest contribution to the contemporary discourse of parametric design. This is the way digital tools play a vital role when designing parametrically. However, it is possible to design parametrically by using the convention physical mode and experiments, for ... In contrast, DBT has $40,000 worth of debt outstanding with interest rate of 5%. There are 500 shares of equity outstanding for DBT Corp. Thus firm value is the equity value, which is the discounted future dividends, VEQT =EEQT =$22,000/22% =$100,000. Since there are 1,000 share outstanding, price of EQT is: PEQT = $100,000/1,000=$100 per share. DBT is a leveled company. Since DBT and EQT are exactly the same except for their capital structure. We can consider DBT as the leveled company of EQT. According to MMI, when there is no tax, the value of an all equity firm should be equal to the value of the leveled company. Therefore, we have VDBT =VEQT = $100,000. The total equity value of DBT should be EDBT = VDBT DDBT = $100,000 $40,000 = $60,000. Therefore, we have the stock price for DBT: PDBT = $60,000/500=$120 (b) The expected return on DBT: ($22,000 5%*$40,000)/$60,000=33.33%.
