Essay About Coliseum
Even over my own radio, I could hear the sound of worship music blaring from the car next to me as
we both waited to turn into the Bojangles Coliseum parking lot. We had made little progress in
roughly 10 minutes, moving forward inch by inch until being halted once again by the police officers
directing the traffic. The car had two women, looking to be in their 40s, sitting in the driver and
passenger talking with smiles on their faces. After finally making it into the actual parking lot, I
walked to the Coliseum with others making the trek. There were predominantly women, many looking
to be in their 40s or 50s but also many in their 20s or 30s. It was a chilly evening, and by the time we
finally reached the antechamber with the security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One woman was selecting a scoop of ice cream, as her friends endearingly mocked her for eating a
cold dessert when it was cold outside. There were not only lines for food, but for the restroom as well.
The line for the women s bathroom already extended 14 people out from the restroom area itself. As
women waited in line, many others walking by stopped to talk pictures with the larger than life picture
of Joyce on a sign saying Welcome! I m so glad you re here . The sign also featured an arrow directing
people to the Resources section. Groups of women and individuals smiled as they posed next to Joyce
before heading into the arena itself to select their seats.
Inside the arena, the floor seating was close to full, with more people making their way higher and
higher up the sides. At the front of the floor seating area, the stage was lit with light purple and darker
blue spotlights as screens to either side read out Welcome Charlotte . I found a seat in the far left
seating section directly across from the stage, climbing up to where an open row was available. As I
entered the seating section, an usher handed me two offering envelopes. When I said I only needed
one, she firmly insisted that I keep them both with a smile.
My row of 7 seats was empty, but there was a man and woman seated together in the row ahead, a pair
of women seated down from them, and a group of women taking up the rows behind me. The man and
woman directly in front of me took a selfie,

Present Day Pop Culture
Outline However for some games today is simply one more piece of their day by day lives, it is
anything but difficult to overlook that only 120 years back, a number of the games we underestimate
did not yet exist, and those that did would be scarcely unmistakable to the present day sports group of
onlookers. The historical backdrop of present day sports points of interest an advancement, from
diversions played essentially for excitement and recreation to an industry equaling some other in size

Mainstream culture Impact With that advancement came an expansion in impact. Wears throughout

changing social states of mind and guidelines. Sports has likewise observed advances in methods and

into games by mold houses and mostly on account of our yearning to imitate our saints and

Apple History Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple on April 1, 1976 in Santa Clara Valley,

there was a market for small computers. He also realized that he could market the company s name

Compare And Contrast Amigos Mexicanos And Mayan Dusk
Amigos Mexicanos and Mayan Dusk are fictional stories written by Juan Villoro. Both stories had
many similarities mainly with both of them having unnamed protagonists as well as both being written
in first person. These stories show a different side of Mexico and Mexican people. This approach
taken by Villoro as well as his style of writing and use of humor gives quite some insight into Mexican
life and Culture. One of the first things that I have noticed whilst reading these short stories was
Villoros interesting use of pronouns. Which was evident more so in Mayan Dusk . The author starts of
by using we which gives a sense of unity. However, as the story proceeds pronouns begin to change
from we to I and it s quite evident that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shaw was able to equate the success of these films to the new and unconventional approaches taken
by the directors, which mainly showed a more watered down version of Mexico and its culture in
order to attract international audiences. This was seen in Like water for chocolate in its portrayal of
Mexico as an ideal and tourist friendly Mexico. However, in Amores Perros Shaw believed the vast
success was also attributed to the director s focus on making the characters relatable and familiar.
These ideas and motives behind the success of these films was made clear by Shaw s historical
knowledge gave much needed insight into the history of Mexican film. This insight not only helped in

Human Papillomavirus Research Paper
The role of Human papillomavirus (HPV) as a necessary cause of cervical and other genitoanal
cancers has been established based on epidemiological and molecular research (1). HPV vaccines
targeting high risk HPV types 16 and 18, and low risk types 6 and 11 have been demonstrated as
protective against persistent infection, and hence carcinogenesis (2).
Introduction
Sexually transmitted infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common, with
approximately 50% of sexually active women having at least one HPV infection in the first 5 years
following the initiation of sexual activity (3). HPV infection is considered necessary, though not
sufficient, in order to develop cervical cancer. Evidence shows that almost all cervical cancers contain
HPV DNA, and that the attributable risk of infection for cervical cancer is higher than that of smoking
and lung cancer (6). Despite HPV being most commonly associated with cervical cancer, the virus is
capable of causing a number of cancers and benign lesions of the genitoanal region in both men and
women (4, 5). There are over 100 different genotypes of HPV based on the gene coding for the L1
capsid protein, of which can be further classified into either high risk oncogenic types, or low risk
types (1, 5) . Of those considered high risk, HPV 16 and 18 are the ... Show more content on

individuals who are unable to clear infection of a high risk HPV genotype are at risk of the
development of pre cursor lesions and if untreated, invasive carcinoma (5,

The Characteristics Of A Hero In The Odyssey, By Homer
here are many characteristics that fall under a hero. Throughout The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus
proves that he has some of these characteristics, by experiencing many challenges and difficulties on
his journey back home. While going through these hard times, Odysseus gains values of a hero.
Throughout The Odyssey, Odysseus displays many Greek values, which characterize him as a hero.
Odysseus goes through experiences where justice prevails over hardship. For example, Odysseus loses
many of his men during the trip, but he still survives. At one island, some of his men are killed and
before he would get killed too, Odysseus starts sailing away with his remaining men. After finding out
his men have been killed, Odysseus says, From that place we sailed on, glad enough to have come off
with our lives, but sad to lose our companions (114 115). Even though Odysseus loses some of his
companions, he is able to continue along with his journey. Shortly after, Odysseus came to the
underworld and got to talk to the dead and hear their stories. While speaking to the dead, his mom
appears and Odysseus realizes she is dead. She wants to talk to him because Odysseus did not see or
hear from her since the start of his journey. Odysseus asks his mom how everyone is doing at home.
Odysseus says, But do tell me, really and truly, what was the cause of youth death? how did you die?
Was it a long disease? or did Artemis Archeress kill you with her gentle shafts? And tell me about my
father and the son I left behind me: do they still hold my honours and my possessions, or have they
passed to some other man because people think I will never return? And tell me of my wedded wife,
what she thinks and what she means to do. Does she remain with the boy and keep all safe, or has she
already married the best man who offered? My beloved mother answered (127). Although Odysseus is
very sad his mom isn t alive anymore, he is very happy to hear how his family is doing at home.
Getting the updates on his family, helps Odysseus deal the grieving he has because of his mother s
death.Odysseus is able to overcome hardships, which help him develop into more of a hero. More

Babylon Short Story Summary
Babylon Short Story
Tyree Turner, David Gebhart, Raul Garcia
In the year 1792 B.C. Babylon introduced their sixth king of Babylon Empire, King Hammurabi who
assumed the throne from his father Sin Muballit. The rule of Hammurabi and his strict, often extreme
no tolerance policy had begun. Though his punishments of the accused and guilty occasionally seemed
appropriate, many felt Hammurabi s methods were inhumane although his intentions give the
impression that it was in good spirit. As the sun began to set behind the temple to Marduk the
induction ceremony of the new King of Babylon presented his power to rule by introducing the list of
laws that were set to be effective immediately. Here, Hammurabi proclaims that he wants to make
justice visible in the land, to destroy the wicked person and the evil doer, that the strong might not
injure the weak. He goes on to say that the laws themselves uphold compassion, and protect widows,
orphans and others from being harmed or exploited by those seeking to take advantage of those who
may not be able to defend themselves. Hammurabi clearly understood that to accomplish his goal, he
needed one universal set of laws for all of the diverse peoples he conquered. Therefore, he made
aware to his subjects that prior to his ascension to king that he sent legal experts throughout his
kingdom to gather existing laws. These laws were revised and some were changed or disregarded
before compiling his final list of 282 laws. Hammurabi made known

The Progression of Streptococcus suis Meningitis Essay
There are three types of pathogens that cause meningitis. The first type of pathogen is Haemophilus

and can be resistant to antibiotic treatment. In 95% of invasive diseases are caused by type b. Before
the introduction of a vaccine, it was the leading cause of bacterial meningitis most common in infants.
The organism colonizes in the nasopharynx (the upper part of the throat behind the nose) and can
sometimes invade the bloodstream and cause infection at a distant site.

Argumentative Essay On Halloween Costumes
In recent years, Halloween costumes have created controversy because they touch on the issue of
cultural appropriation. Children are simply not aware of how their costumes can unwittingly offend
certain cultures or ethnic groups, and parents are also often unsure as to which costume ideas qualify
as culturally respectful . In the LA Times opinion editorial, On Halloween, parents have no choice but
to wade into fraught cultural politics, Oppenheimer argues that picking a Halloween costume is a
challenging task with many grey areas as to what is considered offensive to various religious or ethnic
groups who are often the inspiration behind Halloween costumes. He asserts that all individuals
should take care to avoid culturally appropriating, but that there are also grey areas in costume choice
where appropriation isn t as clearly defined. In order to illustrate the nuanced challenge of picking
costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an anecdote to show how societal values have changed within his
lifetime. He shares, When I was 10, I was in love with a musical theater; if you d forced me to dress
up for Halloween, I might have been chosen a character from Dreamgirls, a play about African
Americans (Oppenheimer 3). It is evident that he was not aware of what was socially acceptable in
society being that he was merely 10 years old. Considering that much time has passed, by reflecting
back to his past self, he is able to realize that dressing this way could have touched many sensitive
areas of cultural appropriating a race. As there are no specific set of standards established in society,
individuals follow and adhere to what is presented in front of them. It is utterly challenging for all
individuals to identify what is permitted in society despite the diversity in ethnic groups and age.
While the youths are struggling to find the perfect balance to avoid cultural appropriating a group, it is
also difficult for adults to distinguish the difference. To advise the individuals in recognizing the
difference in regards to the significance of certain Halloween costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an
appeal to authority with an Yale scholar and former preschool teacher, Erika Christakis. It is ideal that,

Policy of Disney for having no alcohol to be served in its hotels and restaurants was having a very bad

As analyzed from the case data, Paris was selected for opening new theme park due to its
demographics along with subsidies. Around 17 million people of Europe live in areas having drive of
less than two hours from Paris. Other 310 million people can reach there is similar or less time.
Furthermore, the government of France was having so much eagerness for attracting Disney that $1
billion was offered to the company having diverse incentives having expectation that 30,000 jobs for
French people will also be created. From the very start, Disney made cultural mistakes. Then comes
mistakes related to operations. Policy of Disney for serving no alcohol in the park besides being
changed became the point of astonishment in the country where with lunch, glass of wine is being
served as valuable custom. It was thought by Disney that for visitors, Monday is going to be a light
day and Friday will be the crowded one and the staff was accordingly allocated but in real, this was
not the situation.

Real estate agents draft the agreement of purchase and sale and make sure everything is up to par for
closing. They receive commissions from the seller. Their fraud usually concerns falsifying the value of
the property.
Lender is the financial institution that approves the borrower loan application in order to acquire the
home. In most cases the lenders are the financial victims.
Mortgage Brokers may or may not be involved in obtaining financing. Their involvement is at the
discretion of the borrower. Mortgage broker may act for both the seller and borrower. They can assist
the applicant in completing the loan application submitted to the lender as well as collect and review
the various documents needed to support the applications. Mortgage brokers are paid fee or
commission by the lender; therefore they are influenced to close as many loans as possible.
Appraiser asses the market value of a property so that the value of the property is within the lender s
loan guidelines. They researched information on the property such as the legal address, description,
assessment, property tax and age of home. Appraisals are estimates and are subjective in nature. They
are hired by the mortgage company and paid at closing. If they are party to mortgage fraud they will
inflate the value of the property.

Informative Speech On Kendrick Lamar
On your free time, what do you do you like to do? On my free time, I love to listen to music. I listen to
all types of music, whether it s Pop or R B but I mostly listen to Hip Hop. My favorite hip hop artist to
listen to is Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper and songwriter that was born in
1987 and raised in Compton, California. He is signed to the record labels Top Dawg Entertainment
and Aftermath, the latter of which was founded by Dr. Dre. I know what you re probably thinking.
Hearing that he is from Compton and that he s a rapper makes you think that he raps about money,
cars and hoes but that isn t the case. He has been called by many a genius and the most influential
person of the new generation. Frankly I agree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since his debut album Section .80 to To Pimp a Butterfly , Kendrick has raised awareness to many
about current issues that are happening in the world, like racism, violence and self hate among the
youth. I was exposed to Kendrick s music three years ago when I read a Complex article about him
being snubbed from winning the Best Rap Album Grammy. I had heard of Kendrick before when he
signed on with Dr. Dre but I never looked too deep into his music. But after hearing about the outrage
that Kendrick got robbed, I decided to find out what happened. I found out that the other nominees
included big names, like Drake, Jay Z and Kanye West, but the Grammy went to Macklemore Ryan
Lewis for their album The Heist . I remember seeing the main question of all the articles was Did they
win because they were white? I thought it was ridiculous that people were freaking out over someone
s skin color so I decide to judge both of the albums

People with autism have issues with non verbal communication, a wide range of social interactions,
and activities that include play. ( What is Autism? What Causes Autism? ) The characteristics of
autism include relative strengths in visual processing and relative deficits in auditory processing.
Students with autism typically have difficulties with communication and social relatedness. The lack
of efficient communication skills combined with an inadequate behavioral repertoire can cause
problem behaviors. (Scott, 2000)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects one out of every 88 children in the United States. It occurs
more often among boys than girls. Autism appears to be on the rise and it is unclear whether the
growing number of diagnoses shows a real increase or improved detection. Early diagnosis is
extremely important, and it can help a child with autism make significant gains in language and social
skills. (Alli, N.D) With autism on the rise, there are many treatments and therapies available to help
children with autism. Children with autism sometimes have a difficult time transitioning from one
activity to the next, and many times children with autism display inappropriate behavior. Many
interventions and studies are done to try to smooth this transition as well as the inappropriate behavior

repeatedly in nature or a phenomenon (McEwen Mills, 2014, p. 50). The idea of a concept is
important because it attempts to provide meaning or understanding to note observations in a specific
subject matter. There are several different methods that can be utilized in concept development
depending upon the reason for the analysis. During the development and analysis process, a concept is
given simplicity and characteristics are define for meaningful use in the appropriate setting. We see
the use of concepts throughout a variety of areas in nursing such as clinical practice, education,

concept with meaning, provided the framework, and started the data collection. The concept is
utilizing advanced telehealth to increase access to care in the veteran population suffering from
specific chronic diseases. The significance of the study is to reduce wait times for appointments,
hospitalizations, and emergency room visits in the identified population. The telehealth equipment will
have cameras so the coordinators and providers can have virtual interactions with the clients. The
research will be conducted over two years per allotted funding. The inclusion criteria will be veterans
suffering from chronic disease who have missed a minimum of thirty percent of scheduled
appointments for the previous year. The core analysis phase is to be determined however the goal is to
identify a pattern that indicates advance telehealth decreases healthcare utilization at the Veteran
Administration. The additional analysis phase is also pending, but the ultimate goal is to provide
enough data to encourage more studies addressing the concept of telehealth and access to

Ethics, Ethical, And Unethical Behavior
Trident University Kaipo Kim Module 1 Case Assignment Eth501 Professor: Gary Shelton, Ph. D. 6
November 2016 Introduction Organizations that behave ethically are more apt to earn the trust of their
customers, employees, and stockholders. To become successful and hold a great reputation within any
company, one must know right from wrong, but more importantly make those hard decisions to do
what is right. Once a member within a corporation starts to cheat, steal, and coerce the system, it
becomes a domino effect that leaves devastating ramifications. We will discuss issues like falsifying
financial statements, improper use of company funds, ethical behaviors and unethical behaviors.
Fairness The first virtue that I choose to discuss within this paper is the word fairness. Fair is defined
as agreeing with what is thought to be right or acceptable; treating people in a way that does not favor
some over others; not too harsh or critical (Merriam Webster Dictionary, n.d.). With this simple
definition, Mattel founded Global Manufacturing Principles (GMP), whose intent was to identify and
fix issues within their companies like wages an hours, child labor, forced labor, discrimination,
freedom of association, legal and ethical business practices, product safety and product quality, just to
name a few ( XX). Mattel set the standards of becoming a socially responsible corporation by putting
into place GMP that ensured their corporation not only made money, but also treated

Allegories In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
In 1923, psychologist Sigmund Freud revolutionized his field with his model of the human psyche.
According to his model, the mind is divided into three aspects: the id, ego, and superego. William
Golding s allegorical novel, Lord of the Flies, employs these three aspects of the psyche through
intricate characterization representing the concepts of id, ego, and superego. Lord of the Flies tells the
story of a group of young British boys who are stranded on an island in the South Pacific. They
become trapped when their plane is shot down while trying to escape their country during World War
II. A choirboy named Jack is shown as the leader of the savages and encourages them to embrace their
barbarity. As the novel progresses, the inner evil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This further demonstrates Jack s parallels to the concept of ID, thus allowing Golding to emphasize
the psychological allegory of the novel.
Jack s desire to kill is not the only detail that Golding utilizes to compare him to the ID . Throughout
the entirety of the story, Jack is apathetic towards the heinous actions of the boys. After Piggy s death
at the hands of Jack s sadistic henchman, Roger, Jack shows no remorse towards the abominable
action that had just occurred: Suddenly Jack bounded out from the tribe and began screaming wildly.
See? See? That s what you ll get! I meant that! There isn t a tribe for you anymore! (Golding 181).
Jack s refusal to acknowledge the reality of the situation demonstrates his disregard for the logic and
reason. Moreover, as the ID, he only acts on his instinctual, animalistic impulses; he is fully lethargic
towards the rational side of the mind. Furthermore, Golding implements this specific dialogue to
convey Jack s connection to the ID, employing this detail to additionally portray Jack s primitive
inclinations. Here, Jack is acting instinctually and to satisfy his own lust for malice. Thus, the
psychological allegory is continually emphasized through Jack s recurring similarities to the ID.
Acting with no regard to possible repercussions is a key characteristic of the ID. In Lord of the Flies,
Jack continually ignores the probable aftermath of his actions in order to satisfy his needs at that

Different Properties Of Polymers That Each Reaction
Discussion The results demonstrated the various properties of polymers that each reaction produced.
For the nylon polymerization, a condensation reaction took place and produced a long, polymer string.
As described in Figure 1, the product was clear and several meters long, and the fibers held together
when stretched. However, when a portion of the nylon string was heated, fibers weakened. The nylon
turned a bright white, and, when the stirring rod was used to move the piece, the string broke in half.
Ultimately, the reaction presented the fact that polymers are sensitive to heat and easily thermally
decompose. In contrast, for the methyl acrylate polymerization, an addition reaction occurred and
produced a soft, white flat wad of polymer substance. The methyl acrylate polymer had the
consistency of chewed gum, but tore easily when stretched. Therefore, the reaction revealed that the
type of reaction (addition or condensation) plays a key role in determining a polymer s properties.
Additionally, the cornstarch experiment also displayed a non Newtonian fluid s features. While the
polymer was subjected to many tests, its unusual properties were observed. It acted like a liquid when
left alone, but it cracked when squeezed. In conclusion, the three experiments demonstrated the
polymer s wide spectrum of properties and a variety of its subgroups. As seen in Figure 3, the percent
yield exceeded one hundred, indicating a source of error. When weighing, the methyl acrylate

Conservative Judaism
When people around the world were worshiping thunder and wind, the Jews had but one word to say
God. Judaism is one of the three major religions in our society today along with Islam and
Christianity. Judaism believes there is only one God who created and presides over the world. Their
God is all powerful, all knowing and is in all places at all times. He is also compassionate and just.
The Jewish religion is passed on via the mother of a child. If the mother is Jewish, the child is 100%
Jewish. According to Jewish law, one will remain a Jew even if they don t practice Judaism or they do
not believe in God. The Israelites accepted the Ten Commandments from God at Mount Sinai

Conservative Judaism sustains the idea in the Torah came from God, but was interpreted by humans
and contains a human element in it. Conservative Judaism generally accepts the required nature of
halakhah, but like Reconstructionist Judaism believes that the Law should adapt, taking into account
the changes in society while also remaining true to Judaism s values. Orthodox Jews believe that God
gave Moses the whole Torah, the written and oral at Mount Sinai. Modern Orthodox Jews follow
halakhah very precisely, but still attempt to integrate into modern society. Ultra Orthodox Jews, like
Chasidic Jews, strictly observe Jewish laws and don t attempt to integrate into modern society by
dressing traditionally and living separately. Judaism consists of many holidays where Jews celebrate
their religious devotion. For example, Hanukkah the festival of lights. Jews light Hanukkah candles to
remember the miracle of the oil that burnt for eight days and the miracle of the Maccabees victory. Its
said that after three years of fighting, the Maccabees succeeded to drive the Greco Syrians out of
Judea. The lights remind the Jews of the miracles and of the struggle for religious freedom. Also, Yom

Baseball And Its Impact On Baseball
Baseball was introduced to America in the 1800s. As the game of baseball started to become popular,
many people became interested in the game. Baseball fanatics fell in love with the sport, but not
everyone could play. Racial discrimination found its way to baseball when the game was first
discovered and created many controversies that prevented many colored players from playing the
game because of their skin color. This could be part of the reason why in today s culture, you do not
see many black Americans playing the game of baseball. The steady decline in black Americans
playing baseball could also be contributed to other sports like basketball and football started to
become more popular and they just simply lost interest in baseball.
The integration of baseball all started in 1947 when the black community finally had access to the
game just like everyone else. This increased the numbers of black baseball athletes and, for a while,
everyone was happy especially since Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball and opened
the doors for other black players. The numbers then started to decline when football and basketball
started to become more prominent in America. Baseball was becoming an old and slow sport, while
basketball and football caught the attention of black athletes. Baseball has become a sport that
represents older America and because of the culture change people want something different like
basketball and football. When the culture changes, so do

The Fascinating Tale of Jell-o in an Article by Sarah E....
In 1992, in the 51st volume of Western Folklore, Sarah E. Newton published her article: The Jell O
Syndrome : Investigating Popular Culture/Foodways. In this piece, Newton discusses the history and
impact of Jell O, gelatin desert, in American foodways and pop culture since its establishment in 1897
(252). Without delay, Newton acquaints her intentions, as her thesis vows to use research to take
readers on a cultural and historical journey or exotic byway as she calls it (249), into the fascinating
tale of Jell O. Through that research, she is arguing the level or significance of Jell O in American
foodways, as she believes this versatile invention has not received the respect in the foodways
department that she thinks it deserves (249). Newton starts off by referencing the large frequency in
which Jell O is used in American recipes. Newton defends these statements by pointing out the
overwhelming usage of Jell O as an ingredient for salads and desserts in numerous American
cookbooks (250). This is a questionable approach. Although it is understandable to reference
American cookbooks for the frequency of usage of an ingredient, a few books is not a big enough
sample of the thousands that exist. Also, not all American families own cookbooks or use them on a
regular basis as a reference for cooking, nor is it guaranteed that they use any recipes in the book that
incorporate Jell O. Lastly, Newton introduces Americans emotional bond to Jell O, emphasizing the
fun that

Homework Should Not Have Homework
Schools should not give any homework. First, homework makes kids not get enough sleep and energy
for the next day. Next, Kids don t get enough family time after school or even on weekends. Also,
homework can cause mental issues which can be bad for their health. Additionally, a lot of other
people also agree with me about the no homework policy.
One reason we shouldn t have homework is because kids don t get enough sleep for the next day. We
really want the kids to go home at 4 o clock, tired. We want their brain to be tired, Kelly Elementary
School Principal Jackie Glasheen Said in an interview with a local TV station. Said time.com. First,
Kids are already tired from school when they get home. But, with homework, they get tired faster and
then don t even get enough sleep for the next day. Like the principal said they think that making kids
tired is learning, but it doesn t really mean we re learning more, it is just wearing us out and making us
not want to work any longer. Brandy Young told parents, she would not formally assign any
homework this year, asking students instead to eat dinner with their families, play outside and go to
bed early. Is what the article time.com explained. Consequently, homework makes kids not get enough
sleep at night because they are up working on their homework half the night or even longer. These
kids shouldn t have to do this. According to Katie Reilly, Second graders, for example, should do
about 20 minutes of homework each night, but

Mexican Born Dancer And Choreographer Jose Limon
According to the website Biography, Mexican born dancer and choreographer José Limón is
recognized as an important figure in the American modern dance movement of the 1930s 1960s
(Biography). Jose Limon is one of the Ballet dancer sand choreographers in the 1930s. Even though
he is considered to be a Ballet dancer, Limon is well known for performing and choreographing a
great amount of Modern Dance piece. Jose Limon is significant to me because he is the first Modern
Dance choreographer I know, and his representative work the Moor s Pavane impressed me the most
due to the plots and the expressive movements in this piece. After watching the video the Moor s
Pavane, it raised my interest on Jose Limon; it also motivated me to do a deeper research on the
information about Modern Dance. Jose Limon, one of the pioneers of Modern Dance, his Limon
Technique has brought a significant contribution to the field of Modern Dance in the 20th century.
Based on the biography of Jose Limon, he was born on January 12, 1908, in Mexico. Jose Limon is
the eldest of eleven children in his family. The Limon family emigrated from Mexico to Los Angelas,
California in 1915 due to the Mexican Revolution of 1910. After he graduated from High School, he

  • 2. Essay About Coliseum Even over my own radio, I could hear the sound of worship music blaring from the car next to me as we both waited to turn into the Bojangles Coliseum parking lot. We had made little progress in roughly 10 minutes, moving forward inch by inch until being halted once again by the police officers directing the traffic. The car had two women, looking to be in their 40s, sitting in the driver and passenger talking with smiles on their faces. After finally making it into the actual parking lot, I walked to the Coliseum with others making the trek. There were predominantly women, many looking to be in their 40s or 50s but also many in their 20s or 30s. It was a chilly evening, and by the time we finally reached the antechamber with the security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One woman was selecting a scoop of ice cream, as her friends endearingly mocked her for eating a cold dessert when it was cold outside. There were not only lines for food, but for the restroom as well. The line for the women s bathroom already extended 14 people out from the restroom area itself. As women waited in line, many others walking by stopped to talk pictures with the larger than life picture of Joyce on a sign saying Welcome! I m so glad you re here . The sign also featured an arrow directing people to the Resources section. Groups of women and individuals smiled as they posed next to Joyce before heading into the arena itself to select their seats. Inside the arena, the floor seating was close to full, with more people making their way higher and higher up the sides. At the front of the floor seating area, the stage was lit with light purple and darker blue spotlights as screens to either side read out Welcome Charlotte . I found a seat in the far left seating section directly across from the stage, climbing up to where an open row was available. As I entered the seating section, an usher handed me two offering envelopes. When I said I only needed one, she firmly insisted that I keep them both with a smile. My row of 7 seats was empty, but there was a man and woman seated together in the row ahead, a pair of women seated down from them, and a group of women taking up the rows behind me. The man and woman directly in front of me took a selfie, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Present Day Pop Culture Outline However for some games today is simply one more piece of their day by day lives, it is anything but difficult to overlook that only 120 years back, a number of the games we underestimate did not yet exist, and those that did would be scarcely unmistakable to the present day sports group of onlookers. The historical backdrop of present day sports points of interest an advancement, from diversions played essentially for excitement and recreation to an industry equaling some other in size and power. Sports has likewise observed advances in methods and accomplishments in records and levels that mirror the dedication by sportsman, sportswomen and preparing to be the best. • 5. Compare And Contrast Amigos Mexicanos And Mayan Dusk Amigos Mexicanos and Mayan Dusk are fictional stories written by Juan Villoro. Both stories had many similarities mainly with both of them having unnamed protagonists as well as both being written in first person. These stories show a different side of Mexico and Mexican people. This approach taken by Villoro as well as his style of writing and use of humor gives quite some insight into Mexican life and Culture. One of the first things that I have noticed whilst reading these short stories was Villoros interesting use of pronouns. Which was evident more so in Mayan Dusk . The author starts of by using we which gives a sense of unity. However, as the story proceeds pronouns begin to change from we to I and it s quite evident that ... This was seen in Like water for chocolate in its portrayal of Mexico as an ideal and tourist friendly Mexico. However, in Amores Perros Shaw believed the vast success was also attributed to the director s focus on making the characters relatable and familiar. These ideas and motives behind the success of these films was made clear by Shaw s historical knowledge gave much needed insight into the history of Mexican film. • 7. Human Papillomavirus Research Paper The role of Human papillomavirus (HPV) as a necessary cause of cervical and other genitoanal cancers has been established based on epidemiological and molecular research (1). HPV vaccines targeting high risk HPV types 16 and 18, and low risk types 6 and 11 have been demonstrated as protective against persistent infection, and hence carcinogenesis (2). Introduction Sexually transmitted infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common, with approximately 50% of sexually active women having at least one HPV infection in the first 5 years following the initiation of sexual activity (3). HPV infection is considered necessary, though not sufficient, in order to develop cervical cancer. Evidence shows that almost all cervical cancers contain HPV DNA, and that the attributable risk of infection for cervical cancer is higher than that of smoking and lung cancer (6). Despite HPV being most commonly associated with cervical cancer, the virus is capable of causing a number of cancers and benign lesions of the genitoanal region in both men and women (4, 5). • 11. Babylon Short Story Summary Babylon Short Story Tyree Turner, David Gebhart, Raul Garcia In the year 1792 B.C. Babylon introduced their sixth king of Babylon Empire, King Hammurabi who assumed the throne from his father Sin Muballit. The rule of Hammurabi and his strict, often extreme no tolerance policy had begun. Though his punishments of the accused and guilty occasionally seemed appropriate, many felt Hammurabi s methods were inhumane although his intentions give the impression that it was in good spirit. As the sun began to set behind the temple to Marduk the induction ceremony of the new King of Babylon presented his power to rule by introducing the list of laws that were set to be effective immediately. Here, Hammurabi proclaims that he wants to make justice visible in the land, to destroy the wicked person and the evil doer, that the strong might not injure the weak. He goes on to say that the laws themselves uphold compassion, and protect widows, orphans and others from being harmed or exploited by those seeking to take advantage of those who may not be able to defend themselves. Hammurabi clearly understood that to accomplish his goal, he needed one universal set of laws for all of the diverse peoples he conquered. Therefore, he made aware to his subjects that prior to his ascension to king that he sent legal experts throughout his kingdom to gather existing laws. These laws were revised and some were changed or disregarded before compiling his final list of 282 laws. Hammurabi made known ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Argumentative Essay On Halloween Costumes In recent years, Halloween costumes have created controversy because they touch on the issue of cultural appropriation. Children are simply not aware of how their costumes can unwittingly offend certain cultures or ethnic groups, and parents are also often unsure as to which costume ideas qualify as culturally respectful . In the LA Times opinion editorial, On Halloween, parents have no choice but to wade into fraught cultural politics, Oppenheimer argues that picking a Halloween costume is a challenging task with many grey areas as to what is considered offensive to various religious or ethnic groups who are often the inspiration behind Halloween costumes. He asserts that all individuals should take care to avoid culturally appropriating, but that there are also grey areas in costume choice where appropriation isn t as clearly defined. In order to illustrate the nuanced challenge of picking costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an anecdote to show how societal values have changed within his lifetime. He shares, When I was 10, I was in love with a musical theater; if you d forced me to dress up for Halloween, I might have been chosen a character from Dreamgirls, a play about African Americans (Oppenheimer 3). It is evident that he was not aware of what was socially acceptable in society being that he was merely 10 years old. Considering that much time has passed, by reflecting back to his past self, he is able to realize that dressing this way could have touched many sensitive areas of cultural appropriating a race. As there are no specific set of standards established in society, individuals follow and adhere to what is presented in front of them. It is utterly challenging for all individuals to identify what is permitted in society despite the diversity in ethnic groups and age. While the youths are struggling to find the perfect balance to avoid cultural appropriating a group, it is also difficult for adults to distinguish the difference. To advise the individuals in recognizing the difference in regards to the significance of certain Halloween costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an appeal to authority with an Yale scholar and former preschool teacher, Erika Christakis. D. 6 November 2016 Introduction Organizations that behave ethically are more apt to earn the trust of their customers, employees, and stockholders. To become successful and hold a great reputation within any company, one must know right from wrong, but more importantly make those hard decisions to do what is right. Once a member within a corporation starts to cheat, steal, and coerce the system, it becomes a domino effect that leaves devastating ramifications. We will discuss issues like falsifying financial statements, improper use of company funds, ethical behaviors and unethical behaviors. Fairness The first virtue that I choose to discuss within this paper is the word fairness. Fair is defined as agreeing with what is thought to be right or acceptable; treating people in a way that does not favor some over others; not too harsh or critical (Merriam Webster Dictionary, n.d.). With this simple definition, Mattel founded Global Manufacturing Principles (GMP), whose intent was to identify and fix issues within their companies like wages an hours, child labor, forced labor, discrimination, freedom of association, legal and ethical business practices, product safety and product quality, just to name a few ( XX). Mattel set the standards of becoming a socially responsible corporation by putting into place GMP that ensured their corporation not only made money, but also treated ... • 27. Allegories In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies In 1923, psychologist Sigmund Freud revolutionized his field with his model of the human psyche. According to his model, the mind is divided into three aspects: the id, ego, and superego. William Golding s allegorical novel, Lord of the Flies, employs these three aspects of the psyche through intricate characterization representing the concepts of id, ego, and superego. Lord of the Flies tells the story of a group of young British boys who are stranded on an island in the South Pacific. They become trapped when their plane is shot down while trying to escape their country during World War II. A choirboy named Jack is shown as the leader of the savages and encourages them to embrace their barbarity. As the novel progresses, the inner evil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This further demonstrates Jack s parallels to the concept of ID, thus allowing Golding to emphasize the psychological allegory of the novel. Jack s desire to kill is not the only detail that Golding utilizes to compare him to the ID . Throughout the entirety of the story, Jack is apathetic towards the heinous actions of the boys. After Piggy s death at the hands of Jack s sadistic henchman, Roger, Jack shows no remorse towards the abominable action that had just occurred: Suddenly Jack bounded out from the tribe and began screaming wildly. See? See? That s what you ll get! I meant that! There isn t a tribe for you anymore! (Golding 181). Jack s refusal to acknowledge the reality of the situation demonstrates his disregard for the logic and reason. Moreover, as the ID, he only acts on his instinctual, animalistic impulses; he is fully lethargic towards the rational side of the mind. Furthermore, Golding implements this specific dialogue to convey Jack s connection to the ID, employing this detail to additionally portray Jack s primitive inclinations. Here, Jack is acting instinctually and to satisfy his own lust for malice. Thus, the psychological allegory is continually emphasized through Jack s recurring similarities to the ID. Acting with no regard to possible repercussions is a key characteristic of the ID. In Lord of the Flies, Jack continually ignores the probable aftermath of his actions in order to satisfy his needs at that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Different Properties Of Polymers That Each Reaction Discussion The results demonstrated the various properties of polymers that each reaction produced. For the nylon polymerization, a condensation reaction took place and produced a long, polymer string. As described in Figure 1, the product was clear and several meters long, and the fibers held together when stretched. However, when a portion of the nylon string was heated, fibers weakened. The nylon turned a bright white, and, when the stirring rod was used to move the piece, the string broke in half. Ultimately, the reaction presented the fact that polymers are sensitive to heat and easily thermally decompose. In contrast, for the methyl acrylate polymerization, an addition reaction occurred and produced a soft, white flat wad of polymer substance. The methyl acrylate polymer had the consistency of chewed gum, but tore easily when stretched. Therefore, the reaction revealed that the type of reaction (addition or condensation) plays a key role in determining a polymer s properties. Additionally, the cornstarch experiment also displayed a non Newtonian fluid s features. While the polymer was subjected to many tests, its unusual properties were observed. It acted like a liquid when left alone, but it cracked when squeezed. In conclusion, the three experiments demonstrated the polymer s wide spectrum of properties and a variety of its subgroups. As seen in Figure 3, the percent yield exceeded one hundred, indicating a source of error. When weighing, the methyl acrylate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Judaism is one of the three major religions in our society today along with Islam and Christianity. Judaism believes there is only one God who created and presides over the world. If the mother is Jewish, the child is 100% Jewish. According to Jewish law, one will remain a Jew even if they don t practice Judaism or they do not believe in God. Conservative Judaism generally accepts the required nature of halakhah, but like Reconstructionist Judaism believes that the Law should adapt, taking into account the changes in society while also remaining true to Judaism s values. Orthodox Jews believe that God gave Moses the whole Torah, the written and oral at Mount Sinai. Modern Orthodox Jews follow halakhah very precisely, but still attempt to integrate into modern society. Ultra Orthodox Jews, like Chasidic Jews, strictly observe Jewish laws and don t attempt to integrate into modern society by dressing traditionally and living separately. Judaism consists of many holidays where Jews celebrate their religious devotion. For example, Hanukkah the festival of lights. Jews light Hanukkah candles to remember the miracle of the oil that burnt for eight days and the miracle of the Maccabees victory. Its said that after three years of fighting, the Maccabees succeeded to drive the Greco Syrians out of Judea. The lights remind the Jews of the miracles and of the struggle for religious freedom. • 31. Baseball And Its Impact On Baseball Baseball was introduced to America in the 1800s. As the game of baseball started to become popular, many people became interested in the game. Baseball fanatics fell in love with the sport, but not everyone could play. Racial discrimination found its way to baseball when the game was first discovered and created many controversies that prevented many colored players from playing the game because of their skin color. This could be part of the reason why in today s culture, you do not see many black Americans playing the game of baseball. The steady decline in black Americans playing baseball could also be contributed to other sports like basketball and football started to become more popular and they just simply lost interest in baseball. The integration of baseball all started in 1947 when the black community finally had access to the game just like everyone else. This increased the numbers of black baseball athletes and, for a while, everyone was happy especially since Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball and opened the doors for other black players. The numbers then started to decline when football and basketball started to become more prominent in America. Baseball was becoming an old and slow sport, while basketball and football caught the attention of black athletes. Baseball has become a sport that represents older America and because of the culture change people want something different like basketball and football. When the culture changes, so do ... • 32. The Fascinating Tale of Jell-o in an Article by Sarah E.... In 1992, in the 51st volume of Western Folklore, Sarah E. Newton published her article: The Jell O Syndrome : Investigating Popular Culture/Foodways. In this piece, Newton discusses the history and impact of Jell O, gelatin desert, in American foodways and pop culture since its establishment in 1897 (252). Without delay, Newton acquaints her intentions, as her thesis vows to use research to take readers on a cultural and historical journey or exotic byway as she calls it (249), into the fascinating tale of Jell O. Through that research, she is arguing the level or significance of Jell O in American foodways, as she believes this versatile invention has not received the respect in the foodways department that she thinks it deserves (249). Newton starts off by referencing the large frequency in which Jell O is used in American recipes. Newton defends these statements by pointing out the overwhelming usage of Jell O as an ingredient for salads and desserts in numerous American cookbooks (250). This is a questionable approach. Although it is understandable to reference American cookbooks for the frequency of usage of an ingredient, a few books is not a big enough sample of the thousands that exist. Also, not all American families own cookbooks or use them on a regular basis as a reference for cooking, nor is it guaranteed that they use any recipes in the book that incorporate Jell O. Lastly, Newton introduces Americans emotional bond to Jell O, emphasizing the fun that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Homework Should Not Have Homework Schools should not give any homework. First, homework makes kids not get enough sleep and energy for the next day. Next, Kids don t get enough family time after school or even on weekends. Also, homework can cause mental issues which can be bad for their health. Additionally, a lot of other people also agree with me about the no homework policy. One reason we shouldn t have homework is because kids don t get enough sleep for the next day. We really want the kids to go home at 4 o clock, tired. We want their brain to be tired, Kelly Elementary School Principal Jackie Glasheen Said in an interview with a local TV station. Said time.com. First, Kids are already tired from school when they get home. But, with homework, they get tired faster and then don t even get enough sleep for the next day. Like the principal said they think that making kids tired is learning, but it doesn t really mean we re learning more, it is just wearing us out and making us not want to work any longer. Brandy Young told parents, she would not formally assign any homework this year, asking students instead to eat dinner with their families, play outside and go to bed early. Is what the article time.com explained. Consequently, homework makes kids not get enough sleep at night because they are up working on their homework half the night or even longer. These kids shouldn t have to do this. According to Katie Reilly, Second graders, for example, should do about 20 minutes of homework each night, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
