Death Of A Family Member
The article states that mouring and grief are experienced by everyone no matter where one comes
from. It also said that mourning is the response to some illness of someone , death of a family
member , friend , animal or someone close to an individual .(Axelrod, 1969).
Elisabeth stated that bereavement takes a length of time and different steps to overcome all the
intensity level of pain. She said, there are five stages of grieves and the stages do not necessarily
occur on a specific order to someone. She said , people go through these stages before arriving to
the stage of peace and acceptance to die ,but not everyone have the chance to reach this stage before
the die.
Elisabeth further expressed that the death of a loved one usually help to prepare people for their
own time to eternity also encourage the audience that: As long as there is life, there is hope. As
long as there is hope, there is life. (Axelrod, 1969). She said many people do not experience all
the stages of death and there is no believed that everyone most go through death stages in
sequential the same order but it is more of a guide to grieving for someone to know the stage of
grieve one is experiencing.
She said that everyone grieve differently, some show their emotions to grieving outwardly with
physical expressions while some internalize theirs. Grief is the expression as a stress reaction,

Taking a Look at Best Buy
Synopsis
When one envisions an electronic company, Best Buy generally comes to mind. It is just like
Nike or Coca Cola. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music
(Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early
1980s, Best Buy began to add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for
more products to be added as technology advanced. In 1983, the company changed its name to Best
Buy Co. and operated as a superstore (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The entire look of this company
was changing drastically. This would include the sales staff as well. Originally, the staff had
worked on a commission based salary. However, in 1989, this structure was eliminated and sales
associates transformed into educators that assisted customers in learning about the products offered
in the stores (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). Basically, the customer took control and the employees were
there as guidance. The idea of having control in buying electronics became more common as the
technology developed. In order to let the consumer have more control, the company expanded
further by developing and releasing BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give
customers a choice between visiting a physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman,
2010, p.24 2).
The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it
grew the number of products and services through acquiring

Analysis Of Disney U s The Happiest Place On Earth
Within the pages of Disney U, a captivating story unfolds describing the development program
designed for Disney employees. Many times reading a perfunctory book that is designed to
improve one s skills in leadership is, well, not a delight to read. However, Disney U is able to grab
the reader s attention and guide them through a thought provoking journey of ground breaking
leadership tactics, inventive training methods, and creating an engaging environment for an
employee.
Disneyland was Walt Disney s dream of a theme park that would be, in his words, The Happiest
Place on Earth . Walt understood too well that the people that were hired would need to be taught
how to create that elusive atmosphere. He called on Van France to assist him in creating what has
become a world renowned training program. This program taught their employees, or cast members
, to achieve the ultimate result, a good show .
Walt and Van were known to be visionaries, always reaching for what seemed to be unattainable
goals in guest experience. Perfection to them is every guest feeling that they are in The Happiest
Place on Earth and enjoying the best show they have experienced. They were in fact able to reach
these goals because they listened to feedback from everyone. These dedicated leaders especially
took the time to hear from the people who knew Disneyland better than anyone, the employees that
worked there every day. Walt and Van would solicit the feedback from all employees, not

A Comparison Of White Heat And The Godfather
Almost as soon as the gangster film genre was introduced, countless outside forces began to
influence how its films were made. A large influence was the Production Code Administration,
which served as the official watchdog of the industry by setting rules for production companies and
their films (Friedman 407). Since the PCA often called for gangster protagonists to be killed under
violent and humiliating circumstances so their criminal lifestyle could not be glorified, the
archetypal plot of the gangster filmgenre easily shaped itself around the gangsters rise and fall
(Friedman 416). However, over time, the circumstances in how this plot line can be depicted has
been challenged as the genre has pushed into new territory. In examining two such films, White
Heat and The Godfather, the ability of the genre s archetypal plot to not only vary but to last and
grow throughout history is made abundantly clear. When White Heat was released in 1949,... Show

The film follows the story of Michael Corleone, as he becomes further and further involved in a
life of crime. While the film does depict Corleone s rise to power, the gangster s downfall is not
portrayed in the same manner as other films of years prior. The Godfather begins with Corleone
as an outsider to the criminal lifestyle, but as it continues, the character takes a turn towards the
nefarious, at one point even stating, Where does it say you can t kill a cop? (The Godfather).
Though the character s actions are initially motivated by the desire to protect his family, the end
of the film indicates that Corleone has placed his life of crime above the sacred element of family
he initially set out to protect. In the final minutes of the film, Corleone shamelessly lies to his wife
before a door is symbolically shut to block her out, demonstrating a new take on the traditional fall,
which is not of the gangster, but of the

Immigration, The Land Of Opportunity For People
Over hundreds of years, immigration has shaped America into who she is today. July 4, 1776,
was the day immigrants first stepped onto North American soil and claimed the land as theirs.
The impact of migration on a country this big can t be ignored, especially because the people
coming to live in America are usually from Third World countries and are looking for employment
and to be shown a better way a life. Like anything else, there are both huge pros and cons to Third
World immigration. Once, America was known as the land of opportunity for people anywhere in
the world, however, Patrick Buchannan worries that America is allowing too many immigrants at a

Americas land. Laws have been changed in order to make the immigrants more comfortable in
our society because they do not assimilate well. Mexicans are threatening our name and status as a
country. Although in the past, Mexican shave serve in Americas wars next to American men,
Now, Mexicans show hate towards Americans with hate crimes. In California, there is an
abundance of Mexican aliens. Mario Obledo, president of the League of United Latin American
Citizens , claims that California is going to be run by Mexicans and that if anyone doesn t agree
with it should move away. Buchannan uses this example to show how Mexicans show ignorance
towards the American citizens, once Mexicans go past the border into our lands they immediately
try to dominate our culture. Ben Wattenberg on the other hand disagrees, he believes that Mexicans
and other Third World immigrants are actually likely to assimilate into our country. It is thought by
many leading thinkers that we are now in a period of time that will alter history; a culture clash. It
is predicted by 2050, America will be mostly nonwhite. In California, white people are considered
the minority race. America is becoming a nation that represents all cultures. There are cities who
believe having more immigrants will swamp America and its culture. Wattenberg disagrees, he
supports his decision by mentioning that in a

The SUCCEED Act was introduced into Congress on September 25, 2017, by Senators Thom

would create a 15 year process that would allow young undocumented immigrants to earn the

become a lawful permanent resident (Penichet Paul 2017). According to Skopos Labs, this bill has
a 22% chance of being passed; The overall text of the bill does little to affect its chances of being
enacted (succeed).
The 2017 DREAM Act was introduced into on July 20, 2017, by Congresswoman Ileana Ros

provide Dreamers young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as

Compare Roark And Mr Keating
Character Comparative Essay There is a reason pride is the deadliest of the seven sins. It can
cause great conflict or sweet harmony in real life and in literature. Some, like Aristotle, consider it
the crown of the virutes. Indeed, Howard Roark and Mr. Keating both qualify as examples of
Aristotle s the proud man through their actions and reactions, but while Roark s prideis used as an
excuse for violence and impracticality, Mr. Keating s pride paints him as a respectable and
decent man. The Welton School in Dead Poets Society offers little in regards to living space, as
pointed out by Neil when he visits Mr. Keating. Mr. Keating replies, it s part of the monastic oath.

of the proud man also to ask for nothing or scarcely anything, but to give help readily, Mr.
Keating s execution of this earns him respect and admiration from his students and most of his
peers. Howard Roark s version of [giving] help readily, is to complete whatever sketch Peter
Keating brings to him because Peter is spineless in his work. All Roark accomplishes with this is
letting Peter know it s acceptable to leach off Roark for the rest of his career and it ultimately

Mammography Research Papers
One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of an entire
lifetime. Statistics show that individual risks may double if a first degree relative has been
diagnosed with breast cancer (Breast Cancer Risk and Risk Factors, 2016). My risks are doubled
as my maternal grandmother had breastcancer. My passion for radiology coupled with my personal
risk of breast cancerhas influenced my desire to pursue a career in mammography. Mammography
is a non invasive radiographic modality performed to image tissues of the breast to detect
abnormalities of the breast tissue and provide a diagnosis. Breast cancer is the second leading
cause of death in woman. The best defense against breast cancer is early detection with regular
mammograms (Bontrager, 2014, 248). Mammography uses a low dose of ionizing radiation to
image and detect breast tissue abnormalities, and is most often used in conjunction with ultrasound,
nuclear medicine, MRI and PET scans. Mammograms use a low kV and high mAs, therefore

FrankensteinВґs Frankenstein And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand. 1 Mary Shelley Frankenstein, a
novel written by Mary Shelley, was published in 1818, a first of its kind. The novel is considered
to be the first depiction of science fiction, with infused elements of the Gothic novel and romantic
movement. 2 Today this masterpiece largely influences literature studies and popular culture,
especially in the aspect of film creation. Various adaptations of Mary Shelley s Frankensteinhas been
created, but the only motion picture that remains close to the novel is Kenneth Branagh s Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein (1994). The novel and film have made many details conspicuous for
comparison and contrast; details that related to the beginning, the monster s creation, and Elizabeth
s death and rebirth.
The novel and film have alike beginnings, yet there are features changed by Kenneth Branagh. Mary
Shelley s novel specifically started off with a letter written by Walton. The author chose letters from
another character to start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kenneth Branagh follows through with creating the same setting as Mary Shelley did in the
beginning of her novel, yet leaves out details about the family s history and the death of
Frankenstein s mother. Similarly, the novel portrayed that Frankenstein did his own work, whereas
the film displays that his work was a continuation of Professor Waldman s. Related to the same
scene, Mary Shelley spoke little about Frankenstein s physical experimentation and how it was
done, where in contrast it was the main focus of the film. One point of clear difference is the
ending. Even though Elizabeth dies in both the novel and the film, Kenneth Branagh takes
Elizabeth s character further. He does this by allowing her to be reborn through Frankenstein s
experimentation and by then killing her off as she sets herself on

Why Death So Much It Feels More Like A Memory
I consider my own mortality quite often. There is a lyric in the musical Hamilton that reads, I
imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When is it going to get me? In my sleep,
several feet ahead of me? I remember first hearing this lyric and feeling that it was the only words
outside of my own thoughts I had connected with in a long while. Over the past few years, I have
been forced to reckon with my own mortality more than I believe useful. I have witnessed much
deaththroughout these past couple of years, and I have not always known what to do with it with
the grief, the sorrow, the loss, or the transience.
I constantly feel the impending doom that is my impermanence. I know death is a part of life I
am very painfully aware of this fact. I know that I will someday die, but what is it that I will
leave behind? Will I leave anything behind? I m a filmmaker, a photographer, a musician I have
projects that I am very proud of. But the question still rings in my ears: Have I done anything
valuable? And what does the world consider valuable? Is their value the same as mine? I find that I
do not know how to shake these questions from my attentions.
I grew up in a Christian community, believing that if you were baptized and maintained the Bible
s standards, then you were saved and being saved meant heaven after death. However, after one of
my best friends passed away, I began to question mortality, as well as death as a whole. Exactly how

Essay about History 11a
China is a country with a long history. Looking back in history, there are many virtuous
personages. After I read the Book of Odes and the Chronicles of Zuo, I found that both the official
Zhongshan Fu and the Zichan are outstanding people, who help their duck to make a better
kingdom. In fact, they shared some similar qualities. First, Both of Zhongshan Fu and Zichan were
loyal. So, they could gain the trust form the king, and they were entrusted with an important post.

In the Song 260 from the Book of Odes, it says, The king charged Zhongshan Fu to fortify the

and swift was his return. Form this description, we can see that Zhongshan Fu s role was not
making decision or giving suggestion to the king, but executed the order form king. While on
the contrary, Zichan was skilled in making suggestion. From the Chronicles of Zuo, there are
many stories tell us when the king made bad or wrong decisions, Zichan always objected to the
king and told him the reason. He was not afraid that he king would be unhappy or even angry.
For example, when the Zipi wished to grant lordship of fief to Yin He, Zichan opposed Zipi s
decision. He listed many reasons why Yin He couldn t be in charged of his fief. Because of his
wisdom and persuasion, finally Zipi agreed with his suggestion, and trusted him more and more.
Zichan was really a minded person. He always put himself to the position of king to think
problem, so that he could make a right decision, which is more suitable than king s own decision.
In fact, as a decision maker for a country, if not considered all aspects or even make a small
mistake, it would bring negative influence or even disaster to this country. Secondly, Zhongshan Fu
and Zichan had different relationship to the ruler. Zhongshan Fu was just an official of Zhou, and
obedient to the Son of Heaven.

The committee is helping Commonwealth bank, financial planning industry and corporate

Are Libraries Worth The Money Of Taxpayers Research Paper
Are Libraries Really Worth the Money of Taxpayers? Libraries have long served the purpose of
providing books and Internet access to those in need. However, libraries have become almost
obsolete in society and do not really serve a purpose anymore. With the constant advancement of
technology in the world, people no longer need to check out a bookor use an old computer. Even
though libraries offer many services to the public for generally no charge; libraries can no longer
be justified as worth the hard earned money of taxpayers due to the emergence of new technology,
as well as the lack of funding available to maintain them. For starters, the age of technology has
made it really difficult for libraries to remain relevant in today s society.

The Farmers Market At The Larger Food Systems Society Essay
The purpose of this report is to explore the Farmers market at Farm to Fork in comparison to the
larger food systems society contains. Food is an important aspect in our everyday lives, however,
individuals often do not take into consideration the different social relations to food. The Farm to
Fork was an interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic foodin order to achieve
sustainability within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market,
Smithers et al (2008), provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare
these elements to the industrial food system. I believe the definition that they provide is an
accurate representation of what Farm to Fork wished to achieve. Smithers et al (2008), describe
a farmers market as a complex an ambiguous space where notions of local, quality, authenticity
and legitimacy find expression and transactions around food (p. 337). This paper seeks to not only
understand alternative food markets but to also touch upon the activism promoted by various
speakers and vendors. An analysis will also be provided on specific characteristics seen at this
farmers market in comparison to course articles focusing on farmers market from other

Dear White People Sparknotes
The Scientific Revolution made and advancement in what was called the empirical method. In
the Humanistic Tradition Gloria Fiero, the author states This method of inquiry depends on
direct observation and scientific experimentation as the bases from which one arrives at general
conclusions (Fiero pg.114) as she defines was the empirical method. Francis Bacon was an
English scientist and politician who advocated this method. Bacon was a believer in new ideas
and he argued against traditional and religious belief. Bacon published one of his work called

believed that the four false notions prevented clear thinking. Dear White People directed by
Justin Simien is a film that in comparison to Bacon s Novum Organum tells a story about African

Summary Of Videotape By Don Delillo
How can we determine what s real? The mass media were once thought of as holding up a mirror
to, and thereby reflecting, a wider social reality. Now that reality is only definable in terms of
surface reflection of the mirror was once said by Dominic Strinati (1992). The short fiction,
Videotape, was written by Don DeLillo in 1997 published in one of his novels Underworld (1997).
The themes of postmodernism and how the role of mass mediaforms false representation, resulting
in changes of the meaning behind events, is centered on the story Videotape . The impact of
media attracts the society to postmodernism with the obsession of violence. Don DeLillo was
influenced by several historical events surrounding him such as the Vietnam war, John F.
Kennedy Assassination, the Civil War Rights, and the revolts that occurred afterwards. The
material in his novels are described as, Living with the dangerous times (Nance, Web). Don
DeLillo was born on November 20, 1936 in Bronx, New York. He didn t grow up with an interest
in writing until his teenage years, where he began reading during a summer job. The first novel he
has ever written was called Americana, which was finally published in 1971. The story, Videotape,
demonstrates that the society is centered on death and violence through media because it is viewed
as more realistic than the actual event. One of the key points in the story is that the accessibility of
technology creates realism, which portrays daily life

Differences Between Lurhmann s Romeo And Juliet
Adapting Romeo and Juliet from the iconic play enjoyed by millions over centuries in an attempt
to modernize has obviously meant that nuances in the original stage performance have needed to
be lost, in its original state the play was designed and written to be heard and experienced audibly,
however that scenario would have led to a very boring dark and un discernable movie, leaving the
viewer with little to see and experience visually. Much planning was needed to bring about Mr.
Lurhmann s idealistic ideas including new settings in a modern world and utilizing the newer
techniques for camera and lighting, as well as bringing the story into the newer century. Panning

She retraces the mountain of her ancestry every single day quietly. In the wind she can smell the
scent of her ancestors made from crushed pale blue leaves of the mountain. The smell is coming
from up the mountain side from which her ancestors descended from, where the mountain lion laid
down and ate their deer. It is better to be where she once came from, where her ancestors came
from, up on that mountain watching nature. The elderly that remember it once are all gone, the old
songs of ancestors are forgotten, and the story where it all began died with its memory. The
memory of the culture dances in the snow frost moonlight, swam in the freezing mountain water,

The protagonist looks deep into her soul to grab her ancestry. This is what allows her to use her
senses and find it in her every day bearing. The spirits of the ancestors roam the earth and go back
up to that mountain where she originated from. It is because of them that she can still remember
her culture, it lives within her and her surroundings. She is connected with the spirits and is unable
to part with them, there is almost an interdependency with them.
Thomas from the movie Smoke Signals tries very hard to remain connected with his Native
American Ancestors. Thomas likes to think of himself as a story teller like those of his ancestor
tribes. He spends his time telling people stories that are based on reality and fiction in order to
create symbolism and meaning to life. Arnold uses nature and its elements to describe many of his
stories. An example of this is when he describes himself and Victor as children of fire and ash.
Like Silko, he uses elements to describe where he came from. At times it seems as though Thomas
does not really understand his ancestry but continues to try and use their ways in his story telling.
Victor struggles to identify himself as a Native American. We see him describe what an Indian is
supposed to be like and it is loosely connected with his ancestry. Unlike the protagonist of the poem
he is unable to connect with the land and his ancestors. The protagonist mentions that the memory
of her people has

Geographical Location Of The Aegean World Essay
Geographical location: The Aegean world is composed of three distinctive regions, all located
at the Eastern edge of the Mediterranean: the island of Crete, the mainland of Greece, and the
islands between the mainland and the coast of Anatolia. There are signs of earthquake damage
at many Minoan sites and clear signs of both uplifting of the land and submersion of coastal sites
due to tectonic processes all along the coasts. The Mycenaean citadel on Mainland Greece

Cyclopean, as if only the mythic giant Cyclops could have moved them into place. Climate:
Religion: The Minoans seem to have worshipped primarily goddesses, and their culture has been
described as being based on a matriarchal religion. It was not dominated by fertility any more than
any religion of the past or present has been, and it addressed gender identity, rites of passage, and
death. It is reasonable to assume that both the organization and the rituals, even the mythology,
resembled the religions of Near Eastern palatial civilizations.Although there is some evidence of
male gods, depictions of Minoan goddesses vastly outnumber depictions of anything that could be
considered a Minoan god. While some of these depictions of women may be images of
worshippers and priestesses officiating at religious ceremonies, as opposed to deities, several
goddesses appear to be portrayed. The people of the mainland, the Mycenaeans,

The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 Essay
The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 was one of the largest disasters in American history. Practically
overnight the great city of Chicago was destroyed. Before the fire there was a large drought
causing everything to be dry and flammable, then a fire broke out in the O Leary s barn and spread
throughout the city. Many attempts were made to put out the fire but there were too many errors
and problems in the beginning. After the fire many people were left homeless and had to help build

Policing Styles, Watchman, And Service Style
In today s society there are three types of policing styles and it tends to vary based on the
community. According to Kuykendall (1974), states that the style used in a community by law
enforcement is based on different expectations regarding role performance (Kuykendall, 1974).
Each style is used to maintain and enforce law and order in the community. The three policing
styles that are used in the community are legalistic, watchman, and service style. The legalistic
style of policing is focused on enforcing the law and resolving disputes by the book. It is also
considered a reactive form of policing. The watchman style policing focuses on maintaining order
and preventing crime (Kuykendall, 1974). The service style policing is focused on helping those in
the community, instead of enforcing the laws. The policing style that I believe is used in my
community is the watchman and legalistic style. Both policing style is used to enforce the law and
maintain order in a culturally and ethnically diverse community, by making arrest, keeping the
peace and issuing citations. Question 2 In my opinion detectives should wear plain clothes for all
their assignments due to the fact that detectives do not respond to calls where individuals are in
need of their assistance so they do not need to be in uniform to identify who they are. Another
reason is when detectives are investigating a crime or meeting with an informant, they don t need
the entire neighborhood knowing who they are and the

Dwarfism
Dwarfism
Dwarfism is short stature that results from a genetic or medical condition. Dwarfism is generally
defined as an adult height of four feet ten inches or less. The average adult height among people
with dwarfism is four feet.
Dwarfism is generally divided into two broad categories: Disproportionate Dwarfism (DD), some
body parts are small and other larger, and Proportionate Dwarfism (PD), all parts of the body are
smaller than an average person s but are proportionate. Most people with dwarfism have DD
which means they have an average sized trunk and very short limbs, but some people have a very
short trunk and shortened but larger limbs. The head may also be overly large compared to the body.

These little people have delayed or no sexual development during adolescence and a slower growth
rate than expected for age.
Diagnosing a child with dwarfism is based off of height measurements, usually performed at
annual well child exams, but if dwarfism is suspected the doctor may want to measure more
often than yearly. The doctor will watch the physical appearance of a person for skeletal and
facial signs, and most likely take x rays to check skeletal abnormalities. Other diagnostic tests
include genetic testing, but this may not be necessary, and hormone tests to assess the levels of
growth hormones and of course and extensive family history to see if the average height in a
person s family is of short stature.
Treatment options include surgical procedures that may correct the bones in little people like,
dividing a limb bone, straightening it and inserting metal plates to hold it in place. Another
procedure is inserting rods or staples to help correct the shape of the spine.
Some people decide to undergo limb lengthening surgery. With this procedure, the surgeon divides
a long bone into two or more sections, separates the sections slightly and braces the bone and limb
with external metal scaffolding. Pins and screws on this frame are periodically adjusted to keep
tension between the sections, enabling the bone

Video Games Are The Most Revolutionary Form Of Art
To quote the famous game designer Santiago Sir Games are not just art, they are the most
revolutionary form of art mankind has ever known about . Video games are a hybrid form of art
that brings together multiple forms of art. Video games are very aesthetic. They achieve this
through the use of their realistic graphics, in depth development of the story, and the emotional
attachment built overtime with the game. Video games have come a long way in the
development of the graphics system. To really understand the substantial innovations that have
been made, one needs to understand where the original graphics started. The original video
games used vector based graphics, which uses geometric primitives to produce an image. This
was common for arcade games. These vector based graphics were mainly two dimensional and
had little detail. For the time that these games released it was an amazing feat of art that they
could use math to produce these images and have a reaction through the use of a joystick and
buttons. Video games of the modern time we live in have blown this feat of the past out of the
water. The common form of producing graphics in a video gamenow uses resolution based bitmap
graphics to develop images. These image can be three or two dimensional and have detail down
to a bead of sweat rolling down your cheek or the swift movement of the grass and landscape.
Skyrim is a modern day video game that has achieved this feat of art. Skyrim s new game engine

Summary Of The Night Sky
It was late, the moon already high in the night sky, all except for George lie sleeping softly in the
bunkhouse. An unfinished game of solitaire, sprawled out across the barn floor. The barn was lit
only by a single red candle on an overturned crate. Next to the candle was an opened red pack of
cigarettes and a dirty brass lighter. Fresh hay was scattered around the cold floor, a job
unfinished. In the corner of the shadowed barn, a spider clung to its web as it slowly devoured a
helpless fly. Curley s wife lay still, untouched, the sight almost had a natural feeling about it, as
though this was all her life was ever to amount to, she lay dead amongst the hay; it was as
thought the others had forgotten about her and merely continued with their dreary lives. A
rusted shovel leaned against the wall, next to a freshly dug mound of earth, covering Candy s
lifeless dog. Lastly, spread across the floor, was a ragged length of cold consuming rope, with a
noose tied in one frayed end. George crouched before the rope, hunched over almost
questioningly, as though judging whether or not this was his best way out of the situation. He
was dirty and unshaven; he had yet not bothered to change from his gloomy, threadbare work
attire. His hair was greasy and unkempt, his facial hair was long and neglected and his face looked

Illiteracy And Poverty In America
I.Introduction: There is a strong correlation between student illiteracy and poverty. 25% of children
in America never learn how to read. Children who grow up in poverty stricken areas have extremely
limited exposure to reading materials. In addition, children living in poverty experience challenges
in obtaining nutritional food and tend to live in an unsafe environment, which can affect
educational advancement. According to the Heart of America foundation, 61 percent of families
living in povertydo not have children s books in their homes. Consequently, children living in
poverty already have a 50 percent weaker vocabulary than their wealthier peers at the start of

Taking children on field trips to their nearby library to teach them about the system is very
important. They can later get their personal library card and return to rent out a book they wish to
read. This is a way to promote out of school reading.
III.Conclusion: Maximizing student illiteracy in Miami Dade County comes down to three
critical factors. First, providing students with more books at school. Secondly, giving students
the knowledge and opportunity to read at home. And lastly, giving the teachers the proper
background on the students they will be teaching so that the academics are approached
accordingly. By meticulously approaching each of these areas, Miami Dade County will be able
to significantly increase student literacy in poverty stricken schools. Ernestine Walls Benedict
said, Reading empowers children by providing a virtual passport to explore the world. They can
learn about places, people and things very different from their own experiences, as well as see
themselves reflected in other children s lives. Being able to read is not only important but it is

Conformity And Individuality In The Lost Thing
The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan is an animated film adaptation, which explores our universal want to
conform and our societal tendencies to exclude any differences. The picture film narrates the story
of the lost thing, which is disorientated in a world of conformity and a world with no care to
notice such diversity. The boy, a tireless collector of bottle tops, discovers the lost thing and
befriends it, taking the responsibility to find its place of belonging in the dystopian city.
Shaun Tan portrays the creature s tendency to stand out in the compliant society which allows the
audience to compare between conformity and individuality. At the beginning of the book, it shows
that only the unnamed protagonist seems to notice the lost thing while the others around him are
portrayed to be absorbed in what they are doing that they never stop to look what is in front of

Leopold was a genius at public relations and he knew how to accumulate supporters in other
countries through flattery and marketing. Civilization and suppression of the slave trade were
words often used to describe his motives He insisted he wanted to create a free state similar to
Liberia, an idea that appealed to American white racists who were still looking for places to export
America s blacks. John Tyler Morgan, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and
Henry Shelton Sanford, wealthy Florida orange planter and strong supporter of President Chester A.
Arthur, were easily
Manipulated by the King into gaining American support for his efforts.
Reading this book reinforced my view that, as a society, our values and standards are far superior
to those of the nineteenth century. The discovery of rubber and its immense number of uses for an
increasingly industrial society made it a valuable commodity that would make Leopold immensely
rich. He did so on the backs of the black population of the Congo.

Gary Reiner, GE s corporate CIO, later explained We are Web enabling nearly all of the

possible, including providing customer service and order taking. GE had quietly been involved with
the Internet years before the Boca Raton meeting, conducting more purchasing and selling on the
Internet than any other noncomputer manufacturer. For example, within six months after
beginning to use the Internet for purchasing in mid 1996, GE Lighting had reduced its purchasing
cycle from 14 to 7 days. It also reduced its supply prices by 10 to 15 percent because of open
bidding on the Internet. In 1997, seven other GE units began purchasing via the Net. The company
even sold the concept to others, including Boeing and 3M. Polymerland, GE Plastic s distribution
arm, began distributing technical documentation over the Web in 1994. It put its product catalog on
the Net in 1995 and in 1997 established a site for sales transactions. Its on line system enables

Marine, past and presents, his earned their place within this proud culture of traditions, symbols

Philadelphia, PA. They were formed as a branch of infantry troops that were able to fight on both
sea and on the shore. Since then the role of Marines has grown and evolved, expanding to aerial

Essay about Martin Luther s Impact on Germany
Martin Luther s Impact on Germany
Although we remember Luther as the great thinker who sparked the reformation with his
revolutionary ideas , it would be unfair to not acknowledge that Luther was the first to form these
new ideas. Many attempts at reform had been attempted prior to Luther, led by heresies such as
John Wycliffe, John Hus et al. In fact, during the course of Christianity there has been resistance
and dissent, attempts at reform. Fortunately for Luther, when he made his idea and theses public,
the German or rather Holy Roman Empire was in such a state that made conditions very well suited
for the acceptance and spread of his words. The conditions that I speak of can be mostly ... Show

Luther s message was particularly successful in spreading and sustaining due to its flexibility.
Luther purposeful made it so, adapting it to different audiences. The finer points were understood
by the literate types in the larger cities and the rural communities picked up on beneficial points to
them and the portrayal of a corrupt papacy. The agreement between the literate and illiterate shows
just how flexible his message was.
Religion was the main subject of Luther s ideas and teachings, his disgust at indulgence selling
sparking him of to try and start a reform. The church and clergy were seen as being very corrupt
at all levels, and were with held in little respect by many. Indulgences were sold to the laity,
denouncing their sins with a word from the pope. These were not cheap and not available to
many save the rich who could afford them. This did not please many, believing it was unfair that
they would have to spend more time in purgatory just for being materially less well off. Much of
the money from indulgence selling went to Albert of Mainz, and was used to fuel yet more
corruption, such as bribery prior elections and concubinage, breaking the clergies rules of chastity.
This corruption was widespread and present at all levels of the clergy,

Essay on Branched Chain Amino Acids On Sports Performance
With sportsmen seeking alternatives to illegal and unsafe performance enhancing drugs, ergogenic
aids have come to their rescue. Ergogenic aids are supplements that enhance the performance of
athletes by improving their speed, strength and agility. A number of natural products are marketed
as ergogenic aids, which have found a ready market among sportspersons. Their biggest advantage
is that they are legal, apart from being safe and effective. Examples of such aids include branched
chain amino acids, creatine, medium chain triglycerides, pyruvates and vitamins.
I. What are Branched chain amino acids?
Branched chain amino acids (BCAA) are amino ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxidation of these amino acids occurs in skeletal muscles. Though BCAAs are not used as a source
of energy in the body under normal conditions, they do contribute to energy generation during
heavy and strenuous exercise. The subsequent breakdown of these amino acids for energy
generation during heavy exercise leads to muscle damage and tear. Therefore, restoring them with
the help of protein supplements is extremely necessary to make up for the loss of proteins.
IV. Effect on athletic performance Innumerable studies have investigated the effects of BCAAs on
the performance of athletes. Studies and clinical trials have investigated their potential role in
decreasing fatigue, improving physical performance, increasing strength and affecting cognitive
abilities. A few of the most significant studies are discussed here. While BCAAs have been found
to be of help in enhancing sports performance, there is lack of sufficient evidence from clinical
trials. Therefore, while the intake of BCAAs has been proved to be of help in some cases, their
overall benefit in enhancement of sports performance is still debated and needs strong evidence.
Reduction of fatigue
BCAAs are reported to reduce central fatigue

An Analysis Of Invisible Man And Invisible Man
Throughout this course, we have investigated self knowledge and what it means to know one s
self. Each book that we have read has forced us to think critically in order to analyze the
characters and their relations with self knowledge, and Invisible Man was no different. The
Narrator, also known as Invisible Man, faced many challenges when it came to knowing who he
was. By the time that you are done reading this paper, you will know not only what it means to
know who one is, but also to what extent we define identity as they both relate to Invisible Man.
When asking the question what does it mean to know who one is, I believe that it is one that
could be seen in many different ways as it relates to Invisible Man. Some would look at this as
something so basic like him knowing his name or age, but knowing who one is, is something
that goes so much deeper than that. Knowing who one is means knowing oneself from the inside
out. In the book Invisible Man, He didn t really know who he was. The problem that I believe he
faced with his identity was the fact that he was always trying to please others; he was always
trying to reform his life in order to be what he thought others wanted him to be. When the men
from the brotherhood gave him his new name, they told him Get it down so that even if you are
called in the middle of the night you will respond. You are to answer to no other, understand?
Invisible man just accepted it because he felt like who they wanted him to be is who

The Franco-Prussian War Essay
The Franco Prussian War
During the first half of the nineteenth century, Germany was made up of more than 30 small
states, the largest and most dominant of which was Prussia. Prussia had decided that all of the
states should all be united to create a bigger and better country, Germany. By the end of 1870 it had
forced all of the German states to accept its authority and create the German Empire with the King
of Prussia at its head (the Hohenzollen s). Everything was going to plan as Chancellor Prince Otto
Von Bismarck(person who was behind the unification of Germany) had anticipated apart from the
four large states in southern Germany who remained independent. Bismarck now needed a way to

But this wasn t enough for the French government so they took the matter further, and the French
Ambassador was to see Wilhelm making sure that Leopold had given up all claims to the Spanish
throne. Wilhelm sent a telegram to Bismarck asking him to deal with the matter. On July 13th 1870
Bismarck published an amended version of the telegram, famously known as the Em s Telegram .
This suggested that Wilhelm had deliberately insulted the French Ambassador, and the French were
so outraged by this that on July 19th 1870 they declared war on Prussia just as Bismarck had
planned.
For France the war was a disaster. 200,000 French troops found themselves facing 380,000
Prussian troops who were more experienced, had better leadership and organization skills, and the
Prussian Mauser rifle was far better than the French Chassepot. Unfortunately 180,000 French
troops were surrounded in the Fortress of Metz and the French force that had been sent to help
were too surrounded at Sudan and surrendered. To make matters worse Napoleon III had also been
taken prisoner, and in Paris and independent republic was set up, and the city fought on for one
year until January 1871, but it was a lost battle.
As compensation for Prussia, Prussia wrote up the treaty of Frankfurt, in which France had to give

Single Effect In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
The Ways the Single Effect is created in The Fall of the House of Usher Edgar Allen Poe is a
critic of short stories and poetry, and often puts his own theories into his writing. Edgar Allen
Poe s, The Fall of the House of Usher, falls into this category in the idea of the single effect. The
short story starts with the Narrator going to visit his old friend, Roderick Usher because of a
letter Roderick writes to him. The Narrator goes to the house and spends time with Usher, but all
starts to go array when Roderick thinks his sister is dead and buries her. She comes out of her
tomb and jumps at Usher and the House of Usher falls and Roderick dies. Poe argues that all
short stories should have a single effect; a feeling the author should make the reader feel. The
single effect of The Fall of the House of Usher is terror. Poe creates the single effect of terror
through the settings, characters, and elements of the story. He does this through the setting of
Usher s room and Madeline s tomb; through the characters of Roderick and Madeline Usher; and
through the element of the Haunted Palace. The single effect of terror is created in the settings of
Roderick Usher s room... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the Narrator enters Roderick s room, he walks through the house and describes it. The
Narrator sees the darkness in the house when he notices, the ebon blackness of the floors (Poe
297). He describes a gloomy black floor to give a description of uneasiness and terror for the
reader to attribute to the whole house. The Narrator also describes a feeling of a ghost in the
house among trophies that are moving, trophies which rattled as I strode (Poe 297). This feeling of
terror is created for the reader to imagine when he or she felt objects moving, scaring him or her.
The rattling that the Narrator notices is something that the reader relates to feeling further creating
a single effect for the

The Dangers of Shirking Responsibility in Arthur Miller s...
The Dangers of Shirking Responsibility in Arthur Miller s All My Sons
Arthur Miller s All My Sons is a well made play in every sense of that term. It not only is
carefully and logically constructed, but addresses its themes fully and effectively. The play
communicates different ideas on war, materialism, family, and honesty. However, the main focus,
especially at the play s climax, is the issue of personal responsibility. In particular, Miller
demonstrates the dangers of shirking responsibility and, then, ascribing blame to others.
Nearly every character in All My Sons, in one way or another, fails to take responsibility. The
Keller family, as a whole, is severely dysfunctional in that they keep secrets and ... Show more

The ramifications of his action is that not only did young men die in the war but his friend and
business partner, Steve, was sent to prison for the crime.
Meanwhile, Joe continues to live as a free, but possibly haunted, man. There is great irony in his
speech about his return home from jail:
The story was, I pulled a fast one getting myself exonerated. So I get out of my car, and I walk
down the street. But very slow. And with a smile. The beast!. I was the beast; the guy who sold
cracked cylinder heads to the Army Air Force; the guy who made twenty one P 40 s crash in
Australia. (628)
His cool words of innocence seem to belie the fear of being found out and the continual struggle to
convince himself that he really is not guilty. He does, as the saying goes, protest too much. The
truth, when revealed at the end, really is more than he can live with. When others recognize what
he has known in his heart all along, Joe kills himself.
As mentioned above, All My Sons is not just about the failure to be responsible; it is about
blaming others for one s own wrongs, that includes giving responsibility to another for one s own
life. This, too, is a facet of almost every character s personality. While Joe, again, is the major
character to give blame, others do as well.
Steve s children, George and Ann, place much responsibility for their own actions on Chris. George
says he only believed everything,

Soft Skills Research Paper
Soft skills are personnel attributes to how people connect with each other, the world around us and

Information Security Management And Maintenance
ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which
had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced
the likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the
attack. These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security
management and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of
being addressed, based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears
that it was still in many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there
had been more time available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues
regarding the OPM and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues
show a lack of Information Securitymanagement and maintenance. This is made clear in an article
by ABC News that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the
inspector general s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM
chief angry over hack, 2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented
by the OPM, and the appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the
recommendations as well as implement and maintain. Accountability should be put in place for the

Design Of Vehicles Based On Changing Pinion Over The Rack
Design of vehicles based on changing pinion over the rack steering mechanism
Abstract In this paper, the results of the work on the development and implementation of steering
mechanism is presented. The proposed approach is to construct a vehicle with 90 degrees turning
wheels through changing pinion over the rack steering mechanism. The steering mechanism uses
rack and pinion in defined gear ratios.
The most conventional and general steering arrangement is to turn the front wheels using a hand
operated steering wheel which is positioned in front of the Driver. The steering column, which
contain an universal joint which is part of the collapsible steering column which is designed to
allow it to deviate from a straight line according ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While for rotating the wheel, they used two separate Geared motors.
Convertible four wheel steering with three mode operation This concept was based on insertion
and removal of lock nuts consisting of a steering setup, spur gears, bevel gears. The three modes
were Front wheel steer, Both front and rear wheel steer in same direction ,Both wheels in
opposite direction. When the lock nut is removed, the steering operation is carried out in normal
condition. That is only front wheels steer. But when the lock nut is inserted, the other two modes
can be used. When the gear arrangement is pushed to one position, the spur gears get engaged
and the steering of rear wheel is ensured and is in same direction as that of the front wheels. When
the gear arrangement is moved to other side, the spur gear disengages and the bevel gear gets
engaged. Due to bevel gear arrangement, the rear wheel steers in opposite direction to the front
wheel. This results in third mode steering.
Linkage based steering mechanism Linkages are employed to transmit steering from steering
wheel to wheels, Here a set of diagonal wheels are selected in which power and steering both
systems are attached.
In our project Design of vehicles based on changing pinion over the rack steering mechanism we
are using separate mechanisms for transmitting of power and steering the vehicle and there will be
two modes of operation.

Being A Child Of The 90 s Full House Essay
Being a child of the 90 s, Full House was a very popular show for my generation. Least to say
when I saw a spin off, Fuller House was being released this past year to Netflix I was extremely
excited. Coincidently, the spin off released during the time of this course. Believe it or not, I
immediately referenced parenting styles to the episode where DJ Tanner punishes her son a little
differently than Kimmy Gibler punishes her daughter, although the committed the same crime. I
am hoping to dissect this exact scene, and discuss DJ parenting style towards her son. I find the
parenting styles really interesting, specifically the four we discussed in module four and I really
want to focus on that here. Earlier in the course, we discussed Darling four parenting styles and for
some reason, these really stuck with me. The parenting style theory reflects four different types of
parents. Indulgent parents tend to more responsive than they are demanding (Darling) I like to
think of indulgent parents as what todays generation thinks of as cool parents . They tend to be
more lenient and let the child do as they please because they want to avoid confrontation. Darling
also discusses Authoritarian and Authoritative parents which are slightly different. Authoritarian
style parents, are a little over barring. To me, I would consider this style to be a bulldozer parent.
Authoritarian style parents are very demanding and very directive. They expect the child to do what

  • 3. Taking a Look at Best Buy Synopsis When one envisions an electronic company, Best Buy generally comes to mind. It is just like Nike or Coca Cola. Founded in 1966, this company was formally known as Sound of Music (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). It was mainly a retailer of audio components. However, in the early 1980s, Best Buy began to add additional products. It was not uncommon for the next 30 years for more products to be added as technology advanced. In 1983, the company changed its name to Best Buy Co. and operated as a superstore (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The entire look of this company was changing drastically. This would include the sales staff as well. Originally, the staff had worked on a commission based salary. However, in 1989, this structure was eliminated and sales associates transformed into educators that assisted customers in learning about the products offered in the stores (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). Basically, the customer took control and the employees were there as guidance. The idea of having control in buying electronics became more common as the technology developed. In order to let the consumer have more control, the company expanded further by developing and releasing BestBuy.com. This website was launched in 2000 to give customers a choice between visiting a physical store and purchasing products online (Hoffman, 2010, p.24 2). The year 2000 was a great year for Best Buy. In addition to expanding into the online market, it grew the number of products and services through acquiring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Disney U s The Happiest Place On Earth Within the pages of Disney U, a captivating story unfolds describing the development program designed for Disney employees. Many times reading a perfunctory book that is designed to improve one s skills in leadership is, well, not a delight to read. However, Disney U is able to grab the reader s attention and guide them through a thought provoking journey of ground breaking leadership tactics, inventive training methods, and creating an engaging environment for an employee. Disneyland was Walt Disney s dream of a theme park that would be, in his words, The Happiest Place on Earth . Walt understood too well that the people that were hired would need to be taught how to create that elusive atmosphere. He called on Van France to assist him in creating what has become a world renowned training program. This program taught their employees, or cast members , to achieve the ultimate result, a good show . Walt and Van were known to be visionaries, always reaching for what seemed to be unattainable goals in guest experience. Perfection to them is every guest feeling that they are in The Happiest Place on Earth and enjoying the best show they have experienced. They were in fact able to reach these goals because they listened to feedback from everyone. These dedicated leaders especially took the time to hear from the people who knew Disneyland better than anyone, the employees that worked there every day. Walt and Van would solicit the feedback from all employees, not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Comparison Of White Heat And The Godfather Almost as soon as the gangster film genre was introduced, countless outside forces began to influence how its films were made. A large influence was the Production Code Administration, which served as the official watchdog of the industry by setting rules for production companies and their films (Friedman 407). Since the PCA often called for gangster protagonists to be killed under violent and humiliating circumstances so their criminal lifestyle could not be glorified, the archetypal plot of the gangster filmgenre easily shaped itself around the gangsters rise and fall (Friedman 416). However, over time, the circumstances in how this plot line can be depicted has been challenged as the genre has pushed into new territory. In examining two such films, White Heat and The Godfather, the ability of the genre s archetypal plot to not only vary but to last and grow throughout history is made abundantly clear. When White Heat was released in 1949,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film follows the story of Michael Corleone, as he becomes further and further involved in a life of crime. While the film does depict Corleone s rise to power, the gangster s downfall is not portrayed in the same manner as other films of years prior. The Godfather begins with Corleone as an outsider to the criminal lifestyle, but as it continues, the character takes a turn towards the nefarious, at one point even stating, Where does it say you can t kill a cop? (The Godfather). Though the character s actions are initially motivated by the desire to protect his family, the end of the film indicates that Corleone has placed his life of crime above the sacred element of family he initially set out to protect. In the final minutes of the film, Corleone shamelessly lies to his wife before a door is symbolically shut to block her out, demonstrating a new take on the traditional fall, which is not of the gangster, but of the ... July 4, 1776, was the day immigrants first stepped onto North American soil and claimed the land as theirs. The impact of migration on a country this big can t be ignored, especially because the people coming to live in America are usually from Third World countries and are looking for employment and to be shown a better way a life. Like anything else, there are both huge pros and cons to Third World immigration. Mario Obledo, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens , claims that California is going to be run by Mexicans and that if anyone doesn t agree with it should move away. Buchannan uses this example to show how Mexicans show ignorance towards the American citizens, once Mexicans go past the border into our lands they immediately try to dominate our culture. Ben Wattenberg on the other hand disagrees, he believes that Mexicans and other Third World immigrants are actually likely to assimilate into our country. It is thought by many leading thinkers that we are now in a period of time that will alter history; a culture clash. It is predicted by 2050, America will be mostly nonwhite. • 9. Compare Roark And Mr Keating Character Comparative Essay There is a reason pride is the deadliest of the seven sins. It can cause great conflict or sweet harmony in real life and in literature. Some, like Aristotle, consider it the crown of the virutes. Indeed, Howard Roark and Mr. Keating both qualify as examples of Aristotle s the proud man through their actions and reactions, but while Roark s prideis used as an excuse for violence and impracticality, Mr. Keating s pride paints him as a respectable and decent man. The Welton School in Dead Poets Society offers little in regards to living space, as pointed out by Neil when he visits Mr. Keating. Mr. Keating replies, it s part of the monastic oath. Howard Roark s version of [giving] help readily, is to complete whatever sketch Peter Keating brings to him because Peter is spineless in his work. • 10. Mammography Research Papers One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of an entire lifetime. Statistics show that individual risks may double if a first degree relative has been diagnosed with breast cancer (Breast Cancer Risk and Risk Factors, 2016). My risks are doubled as my maternal grandmother had breastcancer. My passion for radiology coupled with my personal risk of breast cancerhas influenced my desire to pursue a career in mammography. Mammography is a non invasive radiographic modality performed to image tissues of the breast to detect abnormalities of the breast tissue and provide a diagnosis. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in woman. The best defense against breast cancer is early detection with regular mammograms (Bontrager, 2014, 248). Mammography uses a low dose of ionizing radiation to image and detect breast tissue abnormalities, and is most often used in conjunction with ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI and PET scans. • 11. FrankensteinВґs Frankenstein And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand. 1 Mary Shelley Frankenstein, a novel written by Mary Shelley, was published in 1818, a first of its kind. The novel is considered to be the first depiction of science fiction, with infused elements of the Gothic novel and romantic movement. 2 Today this masterpiece largely influences literature studies and popular culture, especially in the aspect of film creation. Various adaptations of Mary Shelley s Frankensteinhas been created, but the only motion picture that remains close to the novel is Kenneth Branagh s Mary Shelley s Frankenstein (1994). The novel and film have made many details conspicuous for comparison and contrast; details that related to the beginning, the monster s creation, and Elizabeth s death and rebirth. The novel and film have alike beginnings, yet there are features changed by Kenneth Branagh. Mary Shelley s novel specifically started off with a letter written by Walton. Related to the same scene, Mary Shelley spoke little about Frankenstein s physical experimentation and how it was done, where in contrast it was the main focus of the film. One point of clear difference is the ending. Even though Elizabeth dies in both the novel and the film, Kenneth Branagh takes Elizabeth s character further. • 12. Why Death So Much It Feels More Like A Memory I consider my own mortality quite often. There is a lyric in the musical Hamilton that reads, I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When is it going to get me? In my sleep, several feet ahead of me? I remember first hearing this lyric and feeling that it was the only words outside of my own thoughts I had connected with in a long while. Over the past few years, I have been forced to reckon with my own mortality more than I believe useful. I have witnessed much deaththroughout these past couple of years, and I have not always known what to do with it with the grief, the sorrow, the loss, or the transience. I constantly feel the impending doom that is my impermanence. I know death is a part of life I am very painfully aware of this fact. I know that I will someday die, but what is it that I will leave behind? Will I leave anything behind? I m a filmmaker, a photographer, a musician I have projects that I am very proud of. But the question still rings in my ears: Have I done anything valuable? And what does the world consider valuable? Is their value the same as mine? I find that I do not know how to shake these questions from my attentions. I grew up in a Christian community, believing that if you were baptized and maintained the Bible s standards, then you were saved and being saved meant heaven after death. However, after one of my best friends passed away, I began to question mortality, as well as death as a whole. Exactly how strict is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Food is an important aspect in our everyday lives, however, individuals often do not take into consideration the different social relations to food. The Farm to Fork was an interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic foodin order to achieve sustainability within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market, Smithers et al (2008), provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare these elements to the industrial food system. I believe the definition that they provide is an accurate representation of what Farm to Fork wished to achieve. Each style is used to maintain and enforce law and order in the community. The three policing styles that are used in the community are legalistic, watchman, and service style. The legalistic style of policing is focused on enforcing the law and resolving disputes by the book. It is also considered a reactive form of policing. The watchman style policing focuses on maintaining order and preventing crime (Kuykendall, 1974). The service style policing is focused on helping those in the community, instead of enforcing the laws. The policing style that I believe is used in my community is the watchman and legalistic style. These little people have delayed or no sexual development during adolescence and a slower growth rate than expected for age. Diagnosing a child with dwarfism is based off of height measurements, usually performed at annual well child exams, but if dwarfism is suspected the doctor may want to measure more often than yearly. The doctor will watch the physical appearance of a person for skeletal and facial signs, and most likely take x rays to check skeletal abnormalities. Other diagnostic tests include genetic testing, but this may not be necessary, and hormone tests to assess the levels of growth hormones and of course and extensive family history to see if the average height in a person s family is of short stature. Treatment options include surgical procedures that may correct the bones in little people like, dividing a limb bone, straightening it and inserting metal plates to hold it in place. Another procedure is inserting rods or staples to help correct the shape of the spine. Some people decide to undergo limb lengthening surgery. With this procedure, the surgeon divides a long bone into two or more sections, separates the sections slightly and braces the bone and limb with external metal scaffolding. Video Games Are The Most Revolutionary Form Of Art To quote the famous game designer Santiago Sir Games are not just art, they are the most revolutionary form of art mankind has ever known about . Video games are a hybrid form of art that brings together multiple forms of art. Video games are very aesthetic. They achieve this through the use of their realistic graphics, in depth development of the story, and the emotional attachment built overtime with the game. Video games have come a long way in the development of the graphics system. To really understand the substantial innovations that have been made, one needs to understand where the original graphics started. The original video games used vector based graphics, which uses geometric primitives to produce an image. This was common for arcade games. These vector based graphics were mainly two dimensional and had little detail. For the time that these games released it was an amazing feat of art that they could use math to produce these images and have a reaction through the use of a joystick and buttons. Video games of the modern time we live in have blown this feat of the past out of the water. The common form of producing graphics in a video gamenow uses resolution based bitmap graphics to develop images. An unfinished game of solitaire, sprawled out across the barn floor. The barn was lit only by a single red candle on an overturned crate. Next to the candle was an opened red pack of cigarettes and a dirty brass lighter. Fresh hay was scattered around the cold floor, a job unfinished. In the corner of the shadowed barn, a spider clung to its web as it slowly devoured a helpless fly. Curley s wife lay still, untouched, the sight almost had a natural feeling about it, as though this was all her life was ever to amount to, she lay dead amongst the hay; it was as thought the others had forgotten about her and merely continued with their dreary lives. A rusted shovel leaned against the wall, next to a freshly dug mound of earth, covering Candy s lifeless dog. Single Effect In The Fall Of The House Of Usher The Ways the Single Effect is created in The Fall of the House of Usher Edgar Allen Poe is a critic of short stories and poetry, and often puts his own theories into his writing. Edgar Allen Poe s, The Fall of the House of Usher, falls into this category in the idea of the single effect. The short story starts with the Narrator going to visit his old friend, Roderick Usher because of a letter Roderick writes to him. The Narrator goes to the house and spends time with Usher, but all starts to go array when Roderick thinks his sister is dead and buries her. She comes out of her tomb and jumps at Usher and the House of Usher falls and Roderick dies. Poe argues that all short stories should have a single effect; a feeling the author should make the reader feel. The single effect of The Fall of the House of Usher is terror. Poe creates the single effect of terror through the settings, characters, and elements of the story. I must be able to understand and interpret the common core standards as well as the additional information that is provided by the coaches, staff and during professional developments. Furthermore, critical thinking also plays an important factor in problem solving. During problem solving, I must identify the situation and devise a plan to solve the problem. In creating a plan, the teacher would generate alternate interventions, evaluate the best solution, implement a plan, and assess the effectiveness of the interventions. The steps provided all falls under the umbrella of critical thinking. As a teacher, I might face situations during team meetings where I m expected to use my soft skills to come up with a solution to a problem that would both benefit me and my ... • 53. Information Security Management And Maintenance ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced the likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the attack. These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security management and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of being addressed, based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears that it was still in many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there had been more time available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues regarding the OPM and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues show a lack of Information Securitymanagement and maintenance. This is made clear in an article by ABC News that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the inspector general s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM chief angry over hack, 2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented by the OPM, and the appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the recommendations as well as implement and maintain. Accountability should be put in place for the OPM management and the security and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Design Of Vehicles Based On Changing Pinion Over The Rack Design of vehicles based on changing pinion over the rack steering mechanism Abstract In this paper, the results of the work on the development and implementation of steering mechanism is presented. The proposed approach is to construct a vehicle with 90 degrees turning wheels through changing pinion over the rack steering mechanism. The steering mechanism uses rack and pinion in defined gear ratios. The most conventional and general steering arrangement is to turn the front wheels using a hand operated steering wheel which is positioned in front of the Driver. The steering column, which contain an universal joint which is part of the collapsible steering column which is designed to allow it to deviate from a straight line according ... Convertible four wheel steering with three mode operation This concept was based on insertion and removal of lock nuts consisting of a steering setup, spur gears, bevel gears. The three modes were Front wheel steer, Both front and rear wheel steer in same direction ,Both wheels in opposite direction. When the lock nut is removed, the steering operation is carried out in normal condition. That is only front wheels steer. But when the lock nut is inserted, the other two modes can be used. When the gear arrangement is pushed to one position, the spur gears get engaged and the steering of rear wheel is ensured and is in same direction as that of the front wheels. When the gear arrangement is moved to other side, the spur gear disengages and the bevel gear gets engaged. Due to bevel gear arrangement, the rear wheel steers in opposite direction to the front wheel. This results in third mode steering. Linkage based steering mechanism Linkages are employed to transmit steering from steering wheel to wheels, Here a set of diagonal wheels are selected in which power and steering both systems are attached. In our project Design of vehicles based on changing pinion over the rack steering mechanism we are using separate mechanisms for transmitting of power and steering the vehicle and there will be two modes of operation. Jakes which provides assistance to released inmates returning to their communities. As a source, this article presents a comparison of statistics on recidivism of inmates participating in the program versus inmates who do not participate. The data shows that for inmates to re enter society they must have formal help and assistance until they are able to establish themselves in the community. This research focuses on how incarceration affects the health and overall well being of prisoners as well as their families. The article is unique in that it contains many first hand interviews with prisoners and family members sharing their experiences of social support ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Being A Child Of The 90 s Full House Essay Being a child of the 90 s, Full House was a very popular show for my generation. Least to say when I saw a spin off, Fuller House was being released this past year to Netflix I was extremely excited. Coincidently, the spin off released during the time of this course. Believe it or not, I immediately referenced parenting styles to the episode where DJ Tanner punishes her son a little differently than Kimmy Gibler punishes her daughter, although the committed the same crime. I am hoping to dissect this exact scene, and discuss DJ parenting style towards her son. I find the parenting styles really interesting, specifically the four we discussed in module four and I really want to focus on that here. Earlier in the course, we discussed Darling four parenting styles and for some reason, these really stuck with me. The parenting style theory reflects four different types of parents. Indulgent parents tend to more responsive than they are demanding (Darling) I like to think of indulgent parents as what todays generation thinks of as cool parents . They tend to be more lenient and let the child do as they please because they want to avoid confrontation. Darling also discusses Authoritarian and Authoritative parents which are slightly different. Authoritarian style parents, are a little over barring. To me, I would consider this style to be a bulldozer parent. Authoritarian style parents are very demanding and very directive. They expect the child to do what they re told, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
