High School Is A Time Of Great Fun
Sophomore year at my school, Greenbrier School District, is our first year of High School. We
are the dreaded underclassman of the school. We get the boos at the pep rallys, we get the worst
lunch tables, we get the bad parking spots, and worst of all when we mess up everyone knows
and finds out. Every High Schooler wants to be cool and liked by everyone especially the cooler
Seniors. Everyone experiences in their life the time of being the Sophomore the rookie and when
you mess up at that time it seems to affect you more than any other time. We feel the most
vulnerable when we are the weaker people, even the smallest things seem to hurt us the most.
High School is suppose to be a time of great fun. In my small town of Greenbrier, Arkansas with a
population of about five thousand people, our Friday night sports are everything. First Security,
a local bank, tailgates before most games, people line up to get good seats, they deck out in
panther gear, and everyone is always smiling and having a good time. At school before the
games we have huge pep rally s where all 3 grades come together and yell and support the
Panthers. A person from the team playing that night speaks about the games and how hard
everyone has worked for tonight. No one is ever sitting and everyone finds it enjoyable. School
pride is of great value to Greenbrier students. However the same pep rally s that made my life
enjoyable, were also the reason I got made fun of for a solid year. We were about

Vincent s Cappuccino Express Case Study
Vincent s Cappuccino Express Case Study.
a)What factors can be expected to have major impact on the future success of the Cappuccino
Express? Classify these factors in the categories of quality, cost, and time.
Quality factors
Thinking about quality factors, I d like to break them down into several categories. I don t know if
there are generally accepted definitions for them, so I will call them: appearance factors, product
factors and customer experience factors. Let s talk about them in details.
Appearance quality factors are the factors that can attract the customers to your business (or push
away), make the overall experience with your business more pleasant, and perhaps, even
differentiate your business from competition. I include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, Vincent has been pretty successful so far because of the very high product profit
margin and lack of competition. It cost only about 6 cents to make a cup of regular coffee
(cappuccino probably slightly more). But what if there was Dunkin Donuts around the corner? It
would be interesting to see that development.
b)Describe the work process relationships that are important for satisfying the customers of the
Cappuccino Express.
I believe that relationship with customers begins from the moment customer drives in the parking
lot or, like in this case, pulls into the driveway of the drive through. The most important thing at
this stage of relationship with customer is for him to like the place and wanting to do the business
there or to be served there, as in our case. As I have mentioned before, in many instances
(especially in food industry) customer makes his decision whether to get that cup of coffee here or
elsewhere using his judgment on appearance, neatness and cleanness of the place. If these three
things fail the customer, there will be no relationship of any kind in a future.
Next stage is actually dealing with the customer. Simple but sincere greeting to start this process
will do. One of the most important component (if not the most important one) in the work process
relationship, that,

Alfred Hitchcock s Movie, Psycho and its Impact on the Film Industry
The 1960 s marked a big change in American cinema. With the collapse of the Hollywood Studio
System came a weakening of censorship laws; sex and violence moved from obscurity to the
forefront of mainstream cinema (Nowell Smith 464). Although it quickly became clear that a
market existed for such films, the earliest attempts to foray into the world of modern cinema were
met with ambivalence. Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho, made in 1960, was one of the first of many to
depict sexuality and violence in a graphic manner (Nowell Smith 491). Although the youth market
was ready for such a change, the older audience resisted the modern trends. For this reason, Psycho
was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he put it: Our big problem...is trying to make the censors understand that the young people are
much more sophisticated than they used to be (Kapsis 58).
Hitchcock explained the reason for filming a woman wearing only her under garments in the
opening sequence of Psycho: Audiences are changing....The straightforward kissing scene would
be looked down at by the younger viewers....Nowadays you have to show them as they themselves
behave (Hitchcock 1). The director was keenly aware of how audiences responded to his films
(Rebello 163) and sought to maintain their interest. He was among a handful of Hollywood
filmmakers who deliberately sought out innovative composers (Nowell Smith 258); for Psycho,
Hitchcock hired Bernard Hermann who wrote a modern score which challenged the norm. The title
itself, fifties and sixties slang for the violently psychotic, suggested the imminence of a new
generation (Brill 200).
Fully aware that his film was unconventional and daring, Hitchcock used the media to sell his
film to a younger, fresher audience (Kapsis 13). It was advertised as: Alfred Hitchcock s greatest,
most shocking mystery with a galaxy of stars (Greene 1). The stars themselves (Janet Leigh, Vera
Miles, and Anthony Perkins) were of a younger generation than the top stars Hitchcock had
previously employed for his films (Finler 131). Posters for Psycho featured a scantily clad Leigh

Was Brutus Justified In Killing Caesar
Does a man who loves his country take any risk letting one tear it apart? For centuries, leaders
have risen and fallen by the hands of their own allies. Brutus did not even hesitate to outright kill
Caesar and hesitated to act diplomatically in order to ensure that Rome would not be run to the
ground. However, sometimes leaders are removed from their position due to concern of their
ability to lead and the consequences they may bring on their nation that they love. Brutus was one
of those concerned people who was indefinitely a patriot, and only acted out of his best interest for
the future of Rome. Cassius made careful attempts at convincing Brutus in order to betray Caesar.

Soaring prices of residential property in UK
Over the passage of time the value of residential property has increased around the globe and the
UK is no exception to this. All classes have become victim to this new wave of soaring residential
property prices across the UK. This new wave has pushed the poorest from a post to the pillar
and started the accommodation crisis in the UK. According to one survey held by Nationwide,
only in March 2014 the property prices in the UK have hiked by 0.4 percent. Now, less people
own the residential property and more are opting either for mortgaged property or property for

Change in residential property market
The property researchers over the time have been releasing certain reports and surveys addressing
the problems faced by the residential property owners and the gradual increase in the residential
property prices. The recent reports released by property researchers shows a drastic change in
figures and how rapidly the residential property is changing (Property Wire, 2012).
Current residential market in the UK is under the dark cloud of hardships and the current situation
is no different than the one prevailing when Elizabeth II came into power in 1952.
The housing price in the UK since then has increased by more than 250 percent over and as a
result the accommodation crisis has increased greatly in the UK especially in London. (Property
Wires, 2014)
Over the past decades, we have observed great changing in the housing market of UK. Over the
period of time the demands and requirements regarding housing have also changed, in short, the
housing property has part become a necessity, part luxury and investment.

system of doing oil works of art. There are numerous well known compositions still today that are

What Is The Value Of Human Life
Tick Tock. I cannot be late. My boss will fire me if I am late. Why does the world place so much
value into the artificial construct of time? One of the reasons that time is so valuable is because
we have a limited amount of it. However, effort, commitment, and beauty also possess value. How
do we decide what actually has value? Certain aspects of reality, such as humanlife, intrinsically
possess value, and deserve protection regardless of their individual personalities.
Say a project is due in two weeks. There is plenty of time to relax. But what if the project is due
tomorrow? Suddenly, time seems more valuable. The world gives extraordinary value to the little
scraps of paper we call money. While the monetary value does not change, the personal value varies
greatly depending on the perspective. These examples explain how the perception of value differs
depending on quantity. Individuals living in poverty value their possessions and relationships more
than the rich. Human mortality highlights the value of living life with a purpose, whether that
purpose prolongs one s own life, or protects the lives of others.
Life Boat Ethics discusses the value of human life by presenting the argument that, if ten people
could fit in a lifeboat, then one should give up their spot for someone who deserves it more
(Hardin). However, the article does not specify what makes any person more worthy of salvation
than the others. If one bases value on the amount of time possessed, then surely the children are
the most important lives. However, the elderly have gained experience and wisdom, both of
which contain value. And what if the person given a spot by the sacrifice of another gives up his
spot as well? This means that the first person s sacrifice was meaningless. How does one determine
which life has more value in these circumstances?
Museums and art enthusiasts spend a lot of money on works of art. Why are certain paintings
more valuable than others? There are not a limited amount of paintings. Perhaps it is impossible to
truly calculate value, because the perception of value differs between individuals. A critic would
value a beautiful piece of artwork more than an average piece, and would consequently spend more
money or

Multivariate Analysis Of Variance And Multivariate Analysis
MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE (MANOVA) Multivariate analysis of variance
(MANOVA) is a statistical analysis used when a researcher wants to examine the effects of one or
more independent variables on multiple dependent variables. This method is an extension of the
analysis of variance (ANOVA) model and is the most commonly used multivariate analysis in the
social sciences. MANOVA tests whether there are statistically significant, or not due to chance,
mean differences among levels of the independent variable(s) on a linear combination of dependent
variables. Multivariate analysis of variance tests belong to a larger family of statistical techniques
known as the General Linear Model, which include analyses such as ANOVA, multiple types of
regression, and repeated measures designs. MANOVA is an inferential statistical analysis, meaning
that the communication researcher deduces a causal relationship between the independent
variable(s) and the dependent variables and can then take the results of their study conducted on a
smaller sample, or subset of the population, and generalize those results to a larger population. A
researcher uses MANOVA to answer questions about how the combination of multiple dependent
variables differs with respect to the chosen independent variable(s). The researcher is hoping to see
a stable pattern of cause and effect between the independent and dependent variables (DV). To
briefly review, independent variables (IV) refer to those variables that

The Glass Castle Personal Response
Reading The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls was a journey in itself. As I dived deeper into the
book everyday, I started feeling like I was apart of the Walls family, going through everything that

point of views, was incredibly intriguing. It is a personal memoir of her years of growing up with
her alcoholic father, delusional mother, and three siblings. The book is full of hardships. The
family continually suffers especially the children as they grow up. The amazing part of the book is
how the kids, especially Jeanette, made good lives for themselves even when throughout their

I have not and will never forget those series of events. This time hurt me but also helped build
upon my character. It was my freshman year of high school. I had decided to play soccer, which
was not a hard decision for me since I had played travel soccer pretty much my whole life. Also
my brother was in high school at the time and played for the boys soccer team, and had my dad
as his coach. He loved it and was having a great experience playing high school soccer so of
course I like to follow in my brother s footsteps. I was very nervous at first. There were over
eleven seniors on the team, and they were pretty intimidating to me. During the summer, I
played with the varsity often and enjoyed it. As I kept playing with them and performing well,
my nerves lessened. Finally when the actual season rolled around, I was put on full varsity. All
my hard work had paid off. I was one of the two freshman put on varsity. I was ecstatic. I was
actually very lucky at getting put on varsity because at this point in my life I played purely out
of natural talent. I was never one to put in extra work outside of practice and be disciplined in
the way I lived my life. I never really strived to be the best I could be. Making varsity made me
somewhat of a threat for the older girls. Some were happy for me, others did not like the thought
of a freshman on varsity. These girls were hard coore they were bound and determined to make it
to state that year. They were not going to accept anything less than amazing. This put an
incredible amount of pressure on us younger girls. I remember going to every practice nervous
that I was going to mess up and they get mad at me. I never really felt at ease with them. In the
first few games I got good playing time. I was doing really well. I was finally getting comfortable

Summary Of Lucinda Matlock By Lgar Lee Masters
Living Life to The Fullest Life is all about what you make of it and how you go about your day.
People today take for granted for what they have because they do not know what to do with their
worth. How you look at the small things that mean the most is ultimately the way to happiness.
That is not saying that life is going to throw challenges your way, it is how you face them and fight
back. In the poem Lucinda Matlock, Edgar Lee Mastersuses imagery, repetition, and word choice
to reveal that while life may be difficult at times that does not mean that it can not be full of joy
and love. Living life to the fullest and finding the good out of something no matter how hard it
may seem, is the key to the process. Throughout the entire poem, imagery is one of the literary
devices that Masters mainly uses. Imagery is defined as a, Language that speaks to the senses.
Most often, poetic images appeal to sight, but they can appeal to hearing, touch, smell, and taste,
as well (Handout). Imagery creates an image in your head of what the author is trying to explain,
such as what Matlock loves, displayed in the quote: ...I spun, I wove, I kept the house, I nursed the
sick, I made the garden, and for the holiday Rambled over the fields where they sang the larks, And
by Spoon River gathering many a shell,
And many a flower and medicinal weed
Shouting to the wooded hills, singing to the green valleys. (10 15).

The U.S. couldn t have one this war because they didn t take the time to gain the intelligence

The U.S fought in the Vietnam War because of the domino theory. The domino theory is the fear
that if one country fell to the influence of communism then the surrounding countries would soon
follow. President Eisenhower quotes You have a row of dominoes set up, you knock over the first

The Advantages Of Major League Baseball Salary Cap
There are five major sports leagues in the United States; Major League Baseball, Major League
Soccer, the National Basketball Association (which has what is known as a soft salary cap), the
National Football League, and the National Hockey League. Of these five, only baseball lacks
what is known as a salary cap. A salary cap is the upper limit of the combined salaries for a team
s players. In the other four sports I mentioned, having to work within the boundaries of a salary
cap is a balancing act, to gain an advantage at one position requires you to be at a disadvantage at
another position. For example, to have a top tier quarterback in the NFL like Tom Brady or Aaron
Rodgers and the large salary they command, a team might lack the funds to sign a top tier
linebacker or cornerback. With Major League Baseballlacking a salary cap, this balancing act
vanishes and teams could sign anyone and everyone they wished. This causes a competitive
imbalance that is hurting the sport. Too often we see the same teams making the playoffs and
winning championships like the San... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teams with large payrolls routinely win at a higher rate than teams who cannot afford to spend

the San Diego Padres and the Kansas City Royals, two teams who are not able to compete
financially with teams with deeper pockets, won an average of 77.1 and 71.6 games respectively
in that same time span (Major League Baseball). This disparity in season wins is a direct cause of
Major League Baseball s lack of a salary cap. Over the course of a 162 game season, teams with

Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries Of The United States
Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries After the most widely known court case in the United States,
Roe v. Wade (1973), a woman had a right to have a legal abortion during the first trimester of
pregnancy (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014). Legislation decided that States were
able to regulate abortioninto the second trimester, only to reasonable promote the interest of the
women s health. The third trimester was the first time the state was able to say no to protect the life
of the fetus (Arrigo Waldman, 2014).
Since Roe v Wade, there have been major advancements in the maternal fetal world of medicine.
Advanced technology and science have shown us that there is life to a fetus before the last
trimester, leading to many regulations and laws to prohibit abortion for the life the fetus. Discussed
in this paper are the policies, court cases, and executive decisions affecting legal abortion in the US
and the ethical implications that debate them.
Legal Abortion and Roe v. Wadeof 1973
The court case, Roe v. Wade (1973), brought forward the Texas state law to allow on demand
abortions of fetuses for women until the third trimester, when the state recognized the life of the
child (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014) This brought satisfaction to the women
who felt their rights were violated by not being able to choose what they wanted done with their
bodies. Roe v. Wade (1973) made it seem like abortion was the best choice or the only choice when

the most significant structure to commemorate is clearly the Magazine. According to my research,

independence! The Revolutionary War started when Lord Dunmore and his British troops stole

snuck into the Magazine and tried to steal guns so that they could join The Revolutionary War

Somebody Nobody- Comic Play
Somebody Nobody
Somebody Nobody was a comical play, I wish it was longer because as you go along it starts to get
more in depth. When it got to the end of the play I did not realize it, felt like I wanted to know
the afterlife of Loli and Sheena s friendship. Did Sheena and Joe Don stay together? Did Galaxy
(bigger than the stars) get fired?
Loli s character portrayed that she was energetic and she decided to better her life by moving to
a different state to start a new life. Despite what Loli went through she tried her best to keep a
positive attitude. Loli s voice inflection was excellent from when she spoke with Mr. Johnston
stating that she lost her job she seemed hopeless. When she answered the phone speaking to her
mother she sounded disappointed that her mother wanted her to move back home to Flatt Kansas.
To the time she was excited that Sheena Keener was at her door step. As for Sheena Kenner s
character, I viewed her as uppity though she was a B List Celebrity. I admire her for telling the
story as she gazed off into the audience, it made me wonder what she was looking at so I visualized
as she spoke. As Sheen was acting I seen that she used a lot of hand gestures when she has an
attitude or so called sass.
Loli and Sheena were the opposite of each other but they turned that into a friendship. I think they
both build themselves off from one another so the character s relationship will have a strong
foundation. I think Sheena taught Loli how to get out of her shell

S is for Suu Kyi, fearless voice of Burma (Cynthia 22). Aung San Suu Kyi has sacrificed a lot for
Burma, or Myanmar, and its people. Suu Kyi has done a lot of fearless things for Myanmar, and its
people, and she proves that you can do pretty much anything you want to in this world, when
fighting for the right cause. Doing what is right, no matter the circumstance has brought Aung San
Suu Kyito do fearless things. In 1820 Burmawas taken under British rule, and in 1886 was
considered part of India thanks to the British (Baderstcher, Our world: Myanmar ). In 1937, is
when Burma got its official title as Burma, and became its own colony (Baderstcher, Our world:
Myanmar ; Schraff 1994:84). Suu Kyi s father, Aung San , ran the 1940 s nationalist movement ,
that secured Burma s freedom, from Britten, and in 1948, Burma got its independence from
Britten ( Ashby, Gore Ohrn 1995: 285; Schraff 1994:84). But Suu Kyi s Father, wasn t there to

Toyotomi Hideyoshi Research Paper
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a daimyo under Emperor ЕЊgimachi had unified all of Japan in a period of
peace. However, he was hungry for more territory. Therefore, he devised a plan to conquer the
Ming Dynasty of China. He had thousands of troops trained and gathered weapons and supplies.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi sent his ambassadors to request the Joseon court, a Korean dynasty, to allow
his troops to move through the Korean Peninsula to China. After the Joseon court denied his
request twice, King Seonjo, the leader of the Joseon court, became concerned about Hideyoshi s
plans so he sent out ambassadors to get more information. Each ambassador came back with
different reports so King Seonjo decided to believe the ambassador that claimed Japan would not
attack. This caused King Seonjo to make no military preparations. General Hideyoshi launched
two unsuccessful attacks on Korea. One in 1592 and the other in 1596. The goal of the attacks
was to conquer the Korean Peninsula and then go on to conquer China. Hideyoshi expected to

their southeast corner. Busan was captured in just a few hours because of Korea s failure to

to regroup. Hideyoshi and his army, armed with muskets, against Korea s army who had bows and

Exercise Stewardship Analysis
My family is the most important persons I exercise stewardship over. Other than my salvation,
they are my most prized possessions. I provide for my family by cooking, cleaning, providing
daily care for them. Provide financial and emotional support, teaching them the love of Christ and
taking them to church. Being a positive role model, a mother and wife they can be proud of. God
has entrusted me with their care and I take that responsibility seriously with a grateful heart.
I also strive to exercise stewardship over personal belongings, money, assets and spiritual gifts. My
family tithes and gives to others in need. As a nurse, I exercise stewardship by providing

An Effective Technique For An Organization
Changes affect every person in a business, including the managers and the employees. Managing
modifications in a business can be difficult and countless people within an organization can be
resistant for various reasons. Participation is considered an effective technique for reducing
resistance to change, other techniques includes education and communication, facilitation and
support, and negotiation.
Change in a business can be uncomfortable since it requires surrendering a certain way of
thinking and performing processes and implementing a novel way to accomplish a business
goal. Encouraging employees to participate in the alteration can be one of the utmost ways to
reduce the resistance to change. An employee who participates in the process of the conversion
is further likely to embrace the change. Therefore, one way is to encompass groups that will be
affected by innovative procedures in the development of fresh ideas. In other words, ask workers
for their opinions and suggestions and integrate their solutions. If people are given the
opportunity to seize responsibility for specific parts of a program their sense of ownership will
craft stronger advocates. Also valuable input can be gained from employees who really perform the
day to day work as management may not have the information needed to change the design. Before
making slight adjustments anyone who will be affected or who opposes the transformation should
be brought into the decision making process, provided they

Printed Badge Case Study
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 670,000 left their job in the retail trade in January
2017, either voluntarily or involuntarily. This tends to be a challenge for employers, as they invest
in these employees. Most companies provide some level of training for employees, some offer
uniforms and the majority require name tags for those working in their organization. These costs
can quickly add up, especially with this level of retail turnover. One way a companycan reduce
these costs it to make use of printed badges for employees. Why is this a good option for larger

Traditional Public Education
Imagine if only one size of pants were sold in stores and government regulations wouldn t allow
any other size to be made available to consumers. This may sound crazy but it s much like what s
happening with the education of our nation s children. As Americans we enjoy a wide range of
personal choice, and thankfully it includes our ability to select the pants that fit us best. But think
for a moment about traditional public education. For decades the public schoolsystem has offered a
one size fits all approach to educating our nation s children. As we approached the 21st century, the
public school system began to show its age. More and more children began to fall behind in a
rapidly changing environment marked by the introduction of personal computers and later the
internet. Sensing a need for change, many people began to push for new educational models that
would keep up with the times. This marked the beginning of the school choice movement. Both
charter schools and school voucherprograms are collectively referred to as school choice
initiatives, in that they allow parents freedom to choose individualized education options for their
children that are outside of the traditional one size fits all public school system. A school voucher
program provides parents with certificates that are used to pay for education at a school of their
choice, rather than the public school to which they are assigned. Charter schools on the other hand
are publicly funded schools that have been freed from inefficient public school system rules and
regulations in exchange for accountability to produce positive, measurable results. These agreed to
results are set forth in each school s Liles 2 charter. The ability for parents to choose an education
path that is best for their children is an exciting opportunity currently revolutionizing public
education.
Considering the importance of public education, it s understandable that many people would be
hesitant to make changes to the system. Those opposed to school choice site concerns that public
schools would be traded in for profit based education corporations that care more for financial profit
than the individual education of students. Others site concern for what appears to

prided themselves on their great heroic warriors throughout the years. To be a hero was the greatest
form of respect to them, and to achieve such greatness you need to have bravery, faith, strength and
loyalty. In the story, Beowulf, the great warrior embodies all of the coveted traits of an Anglo

In the poem Beowulf is constantly prided on his physical strength, making him irresistible to
women and a person to envy or look up to for men. During the epic poem we hear of Beowulf
constantly being at top physical stature, an example being him ripping Grendel s arm off bare
handed during their bloody brawl; Clear proof of this could be seen in the hand the hero
displayed high up near the roof: the whole of Grendel s shoulder and arm, his awesome grasp .
This shows that with his physical strength and Gods well doing, he was able to bring the
shoulder of Grendel as a trophy of his hard earned win. Another one of the many examples of his
physical strength is the recalling of a swimming match between a foe of his, and how he had lost
the battle, but not for the reasons that people believe; However it occurred, my sword had killed
nine sea monsters. Such night dangers and hard ordeals I have never heard of nor of a man more
desolate in surging waves. But worn out as I was, I survived, came through with my life . Within
Unferth trying to push Beowulf down from the high pedestal he has been put up on by recalling a
past swimming match, Beowulf has countered with a statement that is more heroic that anything
Unferth has ever done. Strength is completely embodied in Beowulf and contributes to him being

2)Accidents: Teens are more likely to respond to calls, text while driving, and riding than adults.
They talk and text on the phone without realizing that it can cost their lives. Even the U.S.
Government Website for Distracted Driving has proven that traffic crashes are the leading cause
of death in teens. 3)Increases Anxiety: Relying on texting as a primary mode of communication
can increase anxiety in teens. Texting is instantly gratifying, but it also produces anxiety. The
instant reply by the friend can bring joy and elation. But in case of delayed response or no

James Joyce Research Paper
James Augustine Aloysius Joyce is well known for his many extraordinary Literature pieces. Still,
to this day he is celebrated throughout Ireland as being one of the most influential figures in Irish
history. Among his literary works, the most recognized and famous literature pieces were
Dubliners, A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses
, and Finnegans Wake. Very early in life,
Joyce struggled with his identity and self importance. Furthermore, Joyce publicizes these identity
struggles and adolescence challenges in his autobiographical novel, A portrait of an Artist as a
Young Man. This novel introduced his newly formed technique called the stream of consciousness.
This well developed technique indirectly allows the audience to distinguish the thoughts and
feelings of the main character, Steven Daedalus; this fictional character is an actual representation
of himself. Stephen Daedalus reappears in Joyce s masterpiece Ulysses, but depicted with more
sophisticated character traits. As a young adult, James Joyceestablished his own set of principles
in which to follow throughout life. These Principles became very apparent in both his writing and
his life choices. Some people may even go as far as to call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

How is education supposed to help us become better people, to have a better future yet it s
costing us way more then it should. Not only is the cost of books horrendous but the average
cost of college overall is horrendous. People constantly say stay in school! or a college degree is
the only way but how are we supposed to pay for it all? College books are costing us the same
amount as someone s rent. I understand that time, work and dedication goes into making these
books but this is our future. Our education, future career and future support is on the line. For
many people the cost of getting an education is the reason for dropping out or never returning. Its
sad when it comes down to people having to work two jobs to be able to pay it off. That s not
what education should be about and making us by these book at this outrageous price is wrong. In
school, no matter what grade, were always taught that dreams are limitless and that s true.
However, the price of getting their is higher than ever. We live in a society where it s all about

Fed Ex vs UPS Case Analysis Essay examples

The parcel service industry is made up of four main competitors. These competitors are UPS,
FedEx, Airborne Express, and the U.S. Postal Service. Since 2000, American consumers have spent
more than $50 billion to ship parcels, packages, and overnight letters. New parcel distribution

Manufactures also depended more on the customer, information technology, and the increase in the
use of technology in all parts of the economy. Companies such as FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express,
and USPS shipped parcels at a faster rate and were more reliable than other rail, motor, and water
carriers.
Trends and opportunities of the parcel service industry include globalization, e commerce, and
supply chain management. Internet logistics was FedEx and UPS s fastest growing business. The
internet enabled customers to link directly to retailers and their manufacturers. In 2001, parcel
carriers served almost all of the online market. They were able to provide information on packages
to customers through tracking systems on the web. This allowed customers to plan ahead and
decrease delays in deliveries. It also allowed for faster transactions and lower communication costs.
Parcel companies created partnerships with large Internet retailers. These partnerships allowed
parcel service companies to expand its overall delivery volume. Parcel companies improved tracking
by implementing several technological innovations. These included laser scanners and bar codes,
state of the art software programs, satellite and cell phone communication equipment, electronic
information interchanges, and the Internet.
Globalization is another major trend. Since the emergence of the

In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer
and will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward
spiral and we can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act
like his is doing so. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put
an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely.
Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original
declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane.
By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a
part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness
starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this
line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his
plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is his plan. The next time Hamlet
discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and
tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and then clarifies

Nathanial Meeker Massacre Analysis
The Meeker Massacre of 1879, though viewed as a single violent altercation between Indian
Agent Nathanial Meeker and the Utes of Colorado, presents a wider narrative of understanding
how altercations over land reflect deeper value systems regarding environments. The changing
nature of the land on which the Ute Reservation resided further complicated U.S. Ute relations. In
looking at the events leading up to and following the Massacre, historians can better understand
what the Utes and federal government were looking for, and why it was so difficult to agree upon

Natural Duty To Obey The Law
In this essay, I will refute the claim that there is a natural duty to obey the law, even in
reasonably decent democratic society in order to rescue others from the dangerous conditions of
the state of nature. To do this, I will explore the consequence of using the natural theory to
explain a duty to obey the law as the best way to rescue others from the dangerous conditions in
the state of nature. Next, I will explore the ambiguity in the natural theory to sufficiently justify a
duty to obey the law simply because it is a law. Through these analyses, I will address the more
general question: under a recent decent democratic society, what kind of duty do we have to obey
the law? Before addressing the claim of a natural duty to obey the... Show more content on

death, psychological, and physical harms, which indicates an advancement of an impartial
good. The problem with this law is that even in a reasonably decent democratic society is the
fact that people comes from different socioeconomic background. Given the existence of a
lower class, middle class, and upper class exists, let imagine each makes 50k, 100k, and 200k

to pay all of their earnings to taxes. Hypothetically speaking, people regardless of class may

the government s intention to enforce an impartial moral value. Since everyone has a natural duty

The strongest rhetoric in Oleanna seems to align with anti feminists. Anti feminists may see the
play as vindication for their prejudices and stereotypes against women. It seems that this play could
cause more grief and misunderstandings between two groups that have been rife with troubles for

Human Impacts on the Environment
Human Impacts on the Environment: Ocean Acidification
Ecological human effects on the planet are now about 40% greater than the planet can support in a
sustainable fashion (Grossman, 2010). One of the many areas with significant damage is the
marine biosphere. Ocean acidification is a great threat to marine and subsequently human life.
The pH level in the ocean has been a relatively constant 8.15 to 8.25 and organisms have evolved
under these circumstances for over 50 million years. However since the end of the Industrial
Revolution, worldwide burning of fossil fuels and human innovations such as concrete manufacture
have resulted in the release of more than 440 billion metric tonnes of carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere. Excess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anthropogenic emissions over the past 200 years have caused ocean acidity levels to increase by
40 %(Ocean Studies Board, 2010). Without major intervention and significant reduction of the
global carbon footprint this will result in severe and irreversible damage to ecosystems and
organisms ocean wide.
Phytoplankton is found in the surface area of the water and is the primary element of varied and
elaborate food webs in the pelagic, (an area of open water away from shore and bed) and other
marine systems. Phytoplankton is essential for the cycling of nutrients in these systems, and
acidification has effects upon photosynthesis, nitrogen fixation and calcification. These processes
are key for zooplankton and phytoplankton composition.
Humans are provided with a variety of services from marine ecosystems, such as protection from
erosion and coastal flooding, seafood, nutrient cycling and natural products. As acidification
progresses, these precious assets are likely to disappear. Should we choose to, there is both the
technology and the economic potential to ensure a discernible decrease in carbon dioxide
emissions. This is a far preferable and effective alternative to suggestions of geoengineering, with
many proposed strategies failing to address the root cause of acidification (Royal Society, 2005).

Witchcraft During Medieval Times
During medieval times, there was a constant uproar when it came to difference in religions, as
leaders preferred there be one sacred religion, Christianity. Around the 15th century, leading into the
16th century, in European countries, such as Germany and surrounding providences, witchcraft
became the new practice, which was frowned upon. Anyone accused of being a witch, could not
receive a fair trial, as they were persecuted, tricked into confession, humiliated, inhumanly tortured,
and put to death by the numbers.
Witchcraft was known, as a practice, in which, one would give themselves, over to the devil; in

misunderstandings, of natural disasters, witches were said, to be the cause of a multitude of events.

such must fulfill certain tasks that will prove his heroic qualities. In The Hero s Journey of Self
Transformation: Models of Higher Development from Mythology, David Hartman and Diane
Zimbermoff explore the traits and characteristics that define a hero and demonstrate the
transformation that his or her ego will undergo in order to become a more complete person. In
Raiders of the Lost Ark, Professor Indiana Jones is recruited by the United States government
after they intercept Nazi radio transmissions referencing Jones mentor, Dr. Abner Ravenwood. It
is at this time that it is revealed that Dr. Ravenwood was a renowned Ark of the Covenant scholar
and that he spent his entire life attempting to find this mythological treasure. Despite Jones
insistence that he agrees to find the treasure before the Nazis get to it simply because of its
historic value and states that he does not believe in the supernatural. By the end of the film, Jones
initial beliefs are completely transformed as he witnesses, first hand, the power of the Ark of the
Covenant; after witnessing what the Ark does to the Nazis that wish to use it for their own evil

The, And Administrative Decrees Documented During The...
After Alexander the Great conquest of Egypt in 332 BC, Egypt was ruled for the following three
centuries by the foreign Greek dynasty of the Ptolemies. Although Egypt was subjugated by
Alexander in 332 BC it wasn t actually until 305 BC that the Ptolemaic dynasty was officially
established. Ptolemaic Egyptwould have been considered one of the two greatest powers in the
Hellenic East. However, there is evidence that shows that the first troubles that Ptolemaic Egypt had
to face actually originated from Egypt itself. These troubles were formed largely due to the ethnic
tension that had formed with the native Egyptians and the immigrated Greeks. There was a third
community of people present in Ptolemaic Egypt at this time, these people being that of the Jewish
faith (find better way to introduce this shit). It is the hope of this essay to prove through analyse of
literary texts, papyri, and administrative decrees documented during the reign of the Ptolemaic
dynasty that the tension between these two groups was extremely strong. This can be attributed to
a fusion of the Greeks disdain for the native Egyptians and the Egyptians resentment of the Greeks
due to the ill treatment they receive from them.
Even from the very first migration of Greeks in Egypt, Ptolemaic Egypt was a bureaucracy were in
which your social standing was determined by your race, and the prevailing ethnicity was that of
the Greeks. Although the Greek were the minority in Egypt this did not stop from being

What Is Body Workout Essay
Something everybody will love: a total body workout anybody can do without needing to stand
up. It is a workout with training you can do in the comfort of your own Pj s. There s an entire
burn and bum work but at least you can avoid the gym. This discipline is a workout that is
effective but also structured in a way to fit in with your daily life so that couch potatoes have a
little less stress when eating too much and not exercising. People who work and students who
do projects sit at their desk all day long so to be healthy they have to overcomplicate their
schedules and make it a drag when working all day isn t already tiring. This workout can be done
wherever whenever to just workout some of your muscles and maybe get your heart rate going in
between work and having a breather from tasks.
I want with people doing this workout to have realistic expectations, if people set their goals to
high they might just throw in the towel. With this workout the aim is not to have a Victoria secret
model body but gain a healthier lifestyle than before. To build up confidence and comfort within
their bodies. Lazy people usually have no energy but to get energy we need to exercise a bit, so if at
the end of the process getting up in the morning is a bit easier than that is a goal defiantly
achieved. This is a workout for the long run ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Analysis Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Touched by Grace the Mystery of Salvation:
Discovering the Deeper Meaning of A Good Man Is Hard to Find
Writers use literary elements, such as plot, setting, characters, and mood as a foundation in their
works. By engaging and guiding the reader with literary techniques like simile, foreshadowing, and
irony, the author invokes the reader to ask questions in order to discover the significance of the
message. Author Flannery O Connor opens the Gothic tale, A Good Man Is Hard to Find, as a family
of six prepares to leave on a road trip to Florida where an escaped murder known as The Misfit is
at large. The author introduces the family: the grandmother, her son Baily, his young wife, the baby,
their son John Wesley, their daughter June Star,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her allusion to Timothy, Georgia, the town in which the family stops for dinner, leads us to I
Timothy in the Bible. This book in the Bible details the description of how a Christian should
live. Up until now, the grandmother has lived a shallow life full of superficial values. The Misfit,
not knowing God, makes an emotional statement that if he had known God; his life may have
been different. For the first time, the grandmother stops thinking of herself and reaches out to
console The Misfit. Nevertheless, three final shots ring out, and the grandmother lays in a pool of
blood. Author Flannery O Connor leaves the reader with this final statement from The Misfit: She
would have been a good woman...if it had been someone there to shoot her every minute of her
life (418). The grandmother would have been a better person had she lived every moment as her
last or with a gun to her head. In her last fleeting moments, the grandmother, touched by grace, was
filled with love and understanding as she acknowledges the errors of her ways. Clemson University

Social Media And Its Effects On Social Networks
Facebook manipulates 690,000 users news feeds
In 2012 social media site Facebook manipulated 690,000 news feeds as a part of a week long
psychology experiment. The goal of the experiment was to find out if the information users
received through their timelines or news feeds could affect a person mood and whether could be
passed on without any physical interaction with other people. Adam D. I. Kramer, Jamie E. Guillory
and Jeffrey T. Hancock wrote an article entitled Experimental evidence of massive scale emotional
contagion through social networks the results of the experiment stating that emotional state could
be transferred to other through emotional contagion, leading people to experience the same
emotions without their awareness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Patterson Wilkins, 2014, p. 54)The problem with theories like this is that they do not pass the
TARES ethical checklist. (Patterson Wilkins, 2014, pp. 56 59) The TARES checklist stands for;
Truthfulness, Authentic, Respect, Equity and Socially and determines the ethical worthiness of a
message. Facebook manipulating thousands of user s newsfeeds does not pass the TARES test.
Though it may give truthful and authentic results from an equitable variety of examples, it does not
respect the people involved with the experiment because they are not aware that much of what they
are seeing is fabricated information to feel some type of emotion. This is something that Facebook
routinely does and when people were made aware of it, they were not happy posting their concerns
on social media. Privacy activist Laura tweeted, I wonder if Facebook KILLED anyone with their
emotion manipulation stunt. At their scale and with depressed people out there, it s possible.
(Wire, 2014)
Another ethical issue that arises is that Facebook now knows that they can persuade how a person
feels how do they use that information. In 2013 there was a controversial study published saying
that companies should tailor their marketing to women based on how they felt about their
appearance. The study showed that women were most vulnerable on Mondays and

Rod Stewart Forever Young Song Analysis
Forever Young. Two words with meaning beyond their miniscule size. Rod Stewart s 1980 s
anthem ignites a spark in one s mind to truly think deeper into the meaning of his decades old
lyrics. Being young is something that every person has to go through and I believe that through
the experiences of our youth we are able to grow not only in years but also in intellect,
knowledge, and wisdom. By growing and going through the hardships that we experience as
young people, we are then in turn able to give back to our children and future generations in
helping them to grow and become better people. This is the perfect song for any parent to dedicate
to their children. It s about being there for your kids and leading by example. Every parent wants...

And when you finally fly away I ll be hoping that I served you well for all the wisdom of a
lifetime no one can ever tell but whatever road you choose I m right behind you, win or lose .
Being a parent is about being supportive. It s about unconditional love and overcoming the hard
times to shed light on the good times. Although we cannot give them everything, what we can
do is try our best to give them all we have, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Our
children are the light of our lives and without them our days would seem meaningless and
minute. What Rod Stewart is trying to capture in these lyrics is that no matter what happens in
life and no matter how far away from home our children may be, they will always be young in
our hearts. At birth we see our children as tiny, precious gifts of life and that image is the first
snapshot we think of when we think of our children. No matter how old they are, our children
will always be our little babies. That s the message that Rod Stewart is sharing with us, his
children will always be the little boys and girls with scrapped elbows and dirty hands. They will
always be the children that are scared of the dark and color outside of the lines. He wants us to
understand that no matter what happens in life and no matter our children s ages, we will always
be parents, and they will always be our

Craig Elwood Ls
When diagraming Case Study House #16 by Craig Elwood I discovered that the plan was made
up of a series of L shape geometries that were correlated and organized around a diagonal line.
These L shapes varied in direction and size but were the regulating geometries of the plan, in
specific the mass and void of the house itself. These L geometries identified the bones of the plan
and allowed a rotation within the plan to be revealed and later emphasized. Once the rotation was
revealed, groups of Ls were then analyzed, questioned, chosen and emphasized within a new
diagram. These Ls rotated around a central point and reformed the mostly rectangular plan into a
circular diagram. At this stage the Ls were associated with other geometries

Literary Analysis Of Bule De Suif
While at first glance Maupassant s story Boule de Suif seems to merely be a story of fellow
travelers and their struggles to continue their journey, it in fact presents a more political and
patriotic view of their journey and quarrels. The main characters, all of whom are French, are
crowded together on a stagecoach and begin discussing their distaste and hatred for the Prussians,
and their pride for the heroic acts of the French in the war. While the story begins with pride and
patriotismfor the groups country, it will become apparent by the end that the prostitute Boule de
Suif is in fact the only true patriot of the group. This sense of patriotism found in Boule de Suif
also allows for a very unique insight into the political and economic themes residing within the
story itself. Within the traveling group an odd mix of people come together to make for a very
interesting position regarding social classand politics. Among the group there are nuns, prostitutes
and members of the high class society of France. While they all come from different ways of life,
they all experience the same sympathy and pride in their country and their distaste for the
Prussians and the terrible things done by them . Even with this common pride for their country
one cannot help to notice the symbolism and imagery of each character s distinct social class and
role. In the first scenes of the story a certain disrespect is shown to Boule de Suif due to her low
standards of living and

Literary Analysis Of Hester At Her Needle
The phrase Hester At Her Needle was never used once, however, all but one appeared outside of
chapter five, which was ommitted since it appeared within the title. In chapter three, the
shortened phrase at her needle was used by an aforementioned matron to describe Hester s
needlework, tying it to her fantastical presentation of her punishment and titular scarlet letter.
The following chapters Pearl and The Governor s Hall were not included due to the
overwhelming usage of Pearl since it was the name of a main character, and Governor s Hall did
not make an appearance outside of a title, making it impossible to delve deeper into its usage. Elf
child was used five times to reference Pearl, which made up half of the eighth chapter s title, The
Elf Child and the Minister , since Minister was overwhelmingly used in lieu of Dimmesdale,
making its usage ineffective to connect to other chapters since it also appeared in chapter twenty
s title. Elf child first debuted within the eighth chapter title, followed by usage in chapters fifteen,
nineteen, and twenty four, making it rather delayed and its meaning obvious. First being used in
chapter fifteen, Pearl was causing mischief and harmed a bird, which she quickly came to regret
and gave up on throwing even more pebbles at even more birds. Once again in the wilderness,
Pearl was once again described as an elf child in chapter sixteen as she left Hester, who went deeper
into the forest. In chapter nineteen, Hester

The Power Of Thinking Without Thinking By Malcolm Gladwell
Books are the most easily driven routes toward education. They present themselves differently to
different readers. We learn by what the dark words say on the bright pages. Authors that write
traditional textbooks are not really singled out in terms of recognition among individuals. However,
authors that talk to their readers but teach them simultaneously in books are the ones we tend to
think about and respect more. Malcolm Gladwell is a stellar example of the latter. This essay will
contain my findings on Malcolm Gladwell and his literature.
Malcolm Gladwell is a journalist, an author, and a public speaker. He s been a staff writer for The
New Yorker since he was 33. He has been featured in Time Magazine s 100 Most Influential
People . Malcolm Gladwell graduated the University of Toronto s Trinity College with a history
degree in 1984. In 2005, he published a book that would not only be one of his best sellers, but
would also inspire others to study psychology. The name of that book is called : Blink; The Power
of Thinking Without Thinking.
Blink s overall synopsis contains a tactic that we use to make decisions everyday called thin
slicing. Gladwell often describes thin slicing as a decision made based on our undetected
subconscious opinions and biases. He shines a light of the fact that those decisions are often made
within two seconds and that our subconscious is a locked door. He relates thin slicing to mind
reading based on our memory of facial expressions and

How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Forgiveness In The...
Forgiveness: Necessity or Courtesy? Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, shows how
forgiveness is important both to society and the individual. Whether a spiritual part of life, or
just an act of courtesy, forgiveness plays a huge role in the lives of both Hester and
Dimmesdale. Hester doesn t hold any hard feelings towards her town, even after being shunned
and humiliated by her friends and neighbors. She was a self ordained Sister of Mercy; (126)
meaning she was continued to be kind to others without showing irritation or hatred. Instead she
helps those who need it, and made a good reputation for herself. Who is so kind to the poor, so
helpful to the sick, so comfortable to the afflicted (127). Soon, her scarlet letter became the same
thing as a cross would be to a nun. She had come to peace with her situation, and forgave her
townspeople for how they treated her. She had every right to be bitter, but she made peace through
forgiveness and became selfless instead.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that he is an accursed thing (113) after what he has done, even though no one, other
than Hester, knows about it. His own lack of forgiveness causes him more suffering than anyone
else could inflict on him. In his mind he believes himself to be unfit for his office and he
struggles with whether or not he should tell everyone the truth. He even tries to set it up by
calling himself out but his adoring congregation seem to admire him all the more. He cannot
forgive himself, inflicting not only mental anguish but physical pain as well. It regresses his
beliefs, similar to the old Roman church, with its self flagellation and other types of penance. He
even has nightmares of people finding out and looking down on him for his hidden sin. There is
no peace for Dimmesdale as there is no one to forgive his crime, as it eats away at him from the

  • 2. High School Is A Time Of Great Fun Sophomore year at my school, Greenbrier School District, is our first year of High School. We are the dreaded underclassman of the school. We get the boos at the pep rallys, we get the worst lunch tables, we get the bad parking spots, and worst of all when we mess up everyone knows and finds out. Every High Schooler wants to be cool and liked by everyone especially the cooler Seniors. Everyone experiences in their life the time of being the Sophomore the rookie and when you mess up at that time it seems to affect you more than any other time. We feel the most vulnerable when we are the weaker people, even the smallest things seem to hurt us the most. High School is suppose to be a time of great fun. In my small town of Greenbrier, Arkansas with a population of about five thousand people, our Friday night sports are everything. First Security, a local bank, tailgates before most games, people line up to get good seats, they deck out in panther gear, and everyone is always smiling and having a good time. At school before the games we have huge pep rally s where all 3 grades come together and yell and support the Panthers. A person from the team playing that night speaks about the games and how hard everyone has worked for tonight. No one is ever sitting and everyone finds it enjoyable. School pride is of great value to Greenbrier students. However the same pep rally s that made my life enjoyable, were also the reason I got made fun of for a solid year. We were about ... • 3. Vincent s Cappuccino Express Case Study Vincent s Cappuccino Express Case Study. a)What factors can be expected to have major impact on the future success of the Cappuccino Express? Classify these factors in the categories of quality, cost, and time. Quality factors Thinking about quality factors, I d like to break them down into several categories. I don t know if there are generally accepted definitions for them, so I will call them: appearance factors, product factors and customer experience factors. Let s talk about them in details. Appearance quality factors are the factors that can attract the customers to your business (or push away), make the overall experience with your business more pleasant, and perhaps, even differentiate your business from competition. I include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, Vincent has been pretty successful so far because of the very high product profit margin and lack of competition. It cost only about 6 cents to make a cup of regular coffee (cappuccino probably slightly more). But what if there was Dunkin Donuts around the corner? It would be interesting to see that development. b)Describe the work process relationships that are important for satisfying the customers of the Cappuccino Express. I believe that relationship with customers begins from the moment customer drives in the parking lot or, like in this case, pulls into the driveway of the drive through. The most important thing at this stage of relationship with customer is for him to like the place and wanting to do the business there or to be served there, as in our case. As I have mentioned before, in many instances (especially in food industry) customer makes his decision whether to get that cup of coffee here or elsewhere using his judgment on appearance, neatness and cleanness of the place. If these three things fail the customer, there will be no relationship of any kind in a future. Next stage is actually dealing with the customer. Simple but sincere greeting to start this process will do. One of the most important component (if not the most important one) in the work process relationship, that, ... With the collapse of the Hollywood Studio System came a weakening of censorship laws; sex and violence moved from obscurity to the forefront of mainstream cinema (Nowell Smith 464). Although it quickly became clear that a market existed for such films, the earliest attempts to foray into the world of modern cinema were met with ambivalence. Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho, made in 1960, was one of the first of many to depict sexuality and violence in a graphic manner (Nowell Smith 491). Although the youth market was ready for such a change, the older audience resisted the modern trends. For this reason, Psycho was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As he put it: Our big problem...is trying to make the censors understand that the young people are much more sophisticated than they used to be (Kapsis 58). Hitchcock explained the reason for filming a woman wearing only her under garments in the opening sequence of Psycho: Audiences are changing....The straightforward kissing scene would be looked down at by the younger viewers....Nowadays you have to show them as they themselves behave (Hitchcock 1). The director was keenly aware of how audiences responded to his films (Rebello 163) and sought to maintain their interest. He was among a handful of Hollywood filmmakers who deliberately sought out innovative composers (Nowell Smith 258); for Psycho, Hitchcock hired Bernard Hermann who wrote a modern score which challenged the norm. The title itself, fifties and sixties slang for the violently psychotic, suggested the imminence of a new generation (Brill 200). Fully aware that his film was unconventional and daring, Hitchcock used the media to sell his film to a younger, fresher audience (Kapsis 13). It was advertised as: Alfred Hitchcock s greatest, most shocking mystery with a galaxy of stars (Greene 1). The stars themselves (Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, and Anthony Perkins) were of a younger generation than the top stars Hitchcock had previously employed for his films (Finler 131). • 11. What Is The Value Of Human Life Tick Tock. I cannot be late. My boss will fire me if I am late. Why does the world place so much value into the artificial construct of time? One of the reasons that time is so valuable is because we have a limited amount of it. However, effort, commitment, and beauty also possess value. How do we decide what actually has value? Certain aspects of reality, such as humanlife, intrinsically possess value, and deserve protection regardless of their individual personalities. Say a project is due in two weeks. There is plenty of time to relax. But what if the project is due tomorrow? Suddenly, time seems more valuable. The world gives extraordinary value to the little scraps of paper we call money. While the monetary value does not change, the personal value varies greatly depending on the perspective. These examples explain how the perception of value differs depending on quantity. Individuals living in poverty value their possessions and relationships more than the rich. Human mortality highlights the value of living life with a purpose, whether that purpose prolongs one s own life, or protects the lives of others. Life Boat Ethics discusses the value of human life by presenting the argument that, if ten people could fit in a lifeboat, then one should give up their spot for someone who deserves it more (Hardin). However, the article does not specify what makes any person more worthy of salvation than the others. If one bases value on the amount of time possessed, then surely the children are the most important lives. However, the elderly have gained experience and wisdom, both of which contain value. And what if the person given a spot by the sacrifice of another gives up his spot as well? This means that the first person s sacrifice was meaningless. How does one determine which life has more value in these circumstances? Museums and art enthusiasts spend a lot of money on works of art. Why are certain paintings more valuable than others? There are not a limited amount of paintings. Perhaps it is impossible to truly calculate value, because the perception of value differs between individuals. A critic would value a beautiful piece of artwork more than an average piece, and would consequently spend more money or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Multivariate Analysis Of Variance And Multivariate Analysis MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE (MANOVA) Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) is a statistical analysis used when a researcher wants to examine the effects of one or more independent variables on multiple dependent variables. This method is an extension of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) model and is the most commonly used multivariate analysis in the social sciences. MANOVA tests whether there are statistically significant, or not due to chance, mean differences among levels of the independent variable(s) on a linear combination of dependent variables. Multivariate analysis of variance tests belong to a larger family of statistical techniques known as the General Linear Model, which include analyses such as ANOVA, multiple types of regression, and repeated measures designs. MANOVA is an inferential statistical analysis, meaning that the communication researcher deduces a causal relationship between the independent variable(s) and the dependent variables and can then take the results of their study conducted on a smaller sample, or subset of the population, and generalize those results to a larger population. A researcher uses MANOVA to answer questions about how the combination of multiple dependent variables differs with respect to the chosen independent variable(s). The researcher is hoping to see a stable pattern of cause and effect between the independent and dependent variables (DV). To briefly review, independent variables (IV) refer to those variables that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I kept playing with them and performing well, my nerves lessened. Finally when the actual season rolled around, I was put on full varsity. All my hard work had paid off. • 14. Summary Of Lucinda Matlock By Lgar Lee Masters Living Life to The Fullest Life is all about what you make of it and how you go about your day. People today take for granted for what they have because they do not know what to do with their worth. How you look at the small things that mean the most is ultimately the way to happiness. That is not saying that life is going to throw challenges your way, it is how you face them and fight back. In the poem Lucinda Matlock, Edgar Lee Mastersuses imagery, repetition, and word choice to reveal that while life may be difficult at times that does not mean that it can not be full of joy and love. Living life to the fullest and finding the good out of something no matter how hard it may seem, is the key to the process. Throughout the entire poem, imagery is one of the literary devices that Masters mainly uses. Imagery is defined as a, Language that speaks to the senses. Most often, poetic images appeal to sight, but they can appeal to hearing, touch, smell, and taste, as well (Handout). Imagery creates an image in your head of what the author is trying to explain, such as what Matlock loves, displayed in the quote: ...I spun, I wove, I kept the house, I nursed the sick, I made the garden, and for the holiday Rambled over the fields where they sang the larks, And by Spoon River gathering many a shell, And many a flower and medicinal weed Shouting to the wooded hills, singing to the green valleys. The Advantages Of Major League Baseball Salary Cap There are five major sports leagues in the United States; Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association (which has what is known as a soft salary cap), the National Football League, and the National Hockey League. Of these five, only baseball lacks what is known as a salary cap. A salary cap is the upper limit of the combined salaries for a team s players. In the other four sports I mentioned, having to work within the boundaries of a salary cap is a balancing act, to gain an advantage at one position requires you to be at a disadvantage at another position. For example, to have a top tier quarterback in the NFL like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers and the large salary they command, a team might lack the funds to sign a top tier linebacker or cornerback. With Major League Baseballlacking a salary cap, this balancing act vanishes and teams could sign anyone and everyone they wished. This causes a competitive imbalance that is hurting the sport. • 18. Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries Of The United States Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries After the most widely known court case in the United States, Roe v. Wade (1973), a woman had a right to have a legal abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014). Legislation decided that States were able to regulate abortioninto the second trimester, only to reasonable promote the interest of the women s health. The third trimester was the first time the state was able to say no to protect the life of the fetus (Arrigo Waldman, 2014). Since Roe v Wade, there have been major advancements in the maternal fetal world of medicine. Advanced technology and science have shown us that there is life to a fetus before the last trimester, leading to many regulations and laws to prohibit abortion for the life the fetus. Discussed in this paper are the policies, court cases, and executive decisions affecting legal abortion in the US and the ethical implications that debate them. Legal Abortion and Roe v. Wadeof 1973 The court case, Roe v. Wade (1973), brought forward the Texas state law to allow on demand abortions of fetuses for women until the third trimester, when the state recognized the life of the child (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014) This brought satisfaction to the women who felt their rights were violated by not being able to choose what they wanted done with their bodies. Significance Of The Magazine There are a lot of excellent significant landmarks that can be commemorated by a coin by the colonial Williamsburg foundation; but here are the four structures that are worthy of being commemorated: The Bruton Parish Church, the Capitol, the Governor s Palace, and the Magazine. When it got to the end of the play I did not realize it, felt like I wanted to know the afterlife of Loli and Sheena s friendship. Did Sheena and Joe Don stay together? Did Galaxy (bigger than the stars) get fired? Loli s character portrayed that she was energetic and she decided to better her life by moving to a different state to start a new life. Despite what Loli went through she tried her best to keep a positive attitude. Loli s voice inflection was excellent from when she spoke with Mr. Johnston stating that she lost her job she seemed hopeless. When she answered the phone speaking to her mother she sounded disappointed that her mother wanted her to move back home to Flatt Kansas. To the time she was excited that Sheena Keener was at her door step. As for Sheena Kenner s character, I viewed her as uppity though she was a B List Celebrity. I admire her for telling the story as she gazed off into the audience, it made me wonder what she was looking at so I visualized as she spoke. As Sheen was acting I seen that she used a lot of hand gestures when she has an attitude or so called sass. Loli and Sheena were the opposite of each other but they turned that into a friendship. I think they both build themselves off from one another so the character s relationship will have a strong foundation. I think Sheena taught Loli how to get out of her shell ... This may sound crazy but it s much like what s happening with the education of our nation s children. As Americans we enjoy a wide range of personal choice, and thankfully it includes our ability to select the pants that fit us best. But think for a moment about traditional public education. For decades the public schoolsystem has offered a one size fits all approach to educating our nation s children. As we approached the 21st century, the public school system began to show its age. More and more children began to fall behind in a rapidly changing environment marked by the introduction of personal computers and later the internet. Sensing a need for change, many people began to push for new educational models that would keep up with the times. This marked the beginning of the school choice movement. Both charter schools and school voucherprograms are collectively referred to as school choice initiatives, in that they allow parents freedom to choose individualized education options for their children that are outside of the traditional one size fits all public school system. A school voucher program provides parents with certificates that are used to pay for education at a school of their choice, rather than the public school to which they are assigned. Charter schools on the other hand are publicly funded schools that have been freed from inefficient public school system rules and regulations in exchange for accountability to produce positive, measurable results. These agreed to results are set forth in each school s Liles 2 charter. The ability for parents to choose an education path that is best for their children is an exciting opportunity currently revolutionizing public education. Considering the importance of public education, it s understandable that many people would be hesitant to make changes to the system. It is implied that Carol wrote in the report that he used the phrase to demean and belittle her and other women. Carol later says that John does not have anymore power. She talks about his group, which is assumed to mean men synonymous with power, versus her group, which is assumed to men women synonymous with defenseless. She tells John that even if he did not misuse his power, he is a part of a group that has taken advantage of their privileges. Again, John tells Carol that she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Human Impacts on the Environment Human Impacts on the Environment: Ocean Acidification Ecological human effects on the planet are now about 40% greater than the planet can support in a sustainable fashion (Grossman, 2010). One of the many areas with significant damage is the marine biosphere. Ocean acidification is a great threat to marine and subsequently human life. The pH level in the ocean has been a relatively constant 8.15 to 8.25 and organisms have evolved under these circumstances for over 50 million years. However since the end of the Industrial Revolution, worldwide burning of fossil fuels and human innovations such as concrete manufacture have resulted in the release of more than 440 billion metric tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Excess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anthropogenic emissions over the past 200 years have caused ocean acidity levels to increase by 40 %(Ocean Studies Board, 2010). Without major intervention and significant reduction of the global carbon footprint this will result in severe and irreversible damage to ecosystems and organisms ocean wide. Phytoplankton is found in the surface area of the water and is the primary element of varied and elaborate food webs in the pelagic, (an area of open water away from shore and bed) and other marine systems. Phytoplankton is essential for the cycling of nutrients in these systems, and acidification has effects upon photosynthesis, nitrogen fixation and calcification. These processes are key for zooplankton and phytoplankton composition. Humans are provided with a variety of services from marine ecosystems, such as protection from erosion and coastal flooding, seafood, nutrient cycling and natural products. As acidification progresses, these precious assets are likely to disappear. Should we choose to, there is both the technology and the economic potential to ensure a discernible decrease in carbon dioxide emissions. This is a far preferable and effective alternative to suggestions of geoengineering, with many proposed strategies failing to address the root cause of acidification (Royal Society, 2005). The longer it is taken to find a combative strategy, the greater the legacy of environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Witchcraft During Medieval Times During medieval times, there was a constant uproar when it came to difference in religions, as leaders preferred there be one sacred religion, Christianity. Around the 15th century, leading into the 16th century, in European countries, such as Germany and surrounding providences, witchcraft became the new practice, which was frowned upon. Anyone accused of being a witch, could not receive a fair trial, as they were persecuted, tricked into confession, humiliated, inhumanly tortured, and put to death by the numbers. Witchcraft was known, as a practice, in which, one would give themselves, over to the devil; in return, sorcery would be gained (Witchcraft Documents [15th Century], 1996). Due to fear, and the misunderstandings, of natural disasters, witches were said, to be the cause of a multitude of events. Uneducated, about the scientific reasoning, behind; miscarriages, the destruction of crops, any lifeform that had perished, in addition, to any other mishap; inevitably, witchcraft would be to blame (Witchcraft Documents [15th Century], 1996). In an attempt, to preserve Catholicism, Pope Innocent VIII, supported, the persecution of witches. The excerpt Innocent VIII: BULL Summis desiderantes, Dec. 5th, 1484, is a memoriam, listing desires and requirements, as to how witches convicted, should be hunted and put on trial (Witchcraft Documents [15th Century], 1996). Transformation of Hero in Raiders of Lost Ark Raiders of the Lost Ark is the 1981 film that follows renowned archeologist and professor Indiana Jones as he races against time and Nazis to uncover one of the greatest treasures believed to be in existence, the Ark of the Covenant. In this film, Indiana Jones fulfills the role of the hero and as such must fulfill certain tasks that will prove his heroic qualities. In The Hero s Journey of Self Transformation: Models of Higher Development from Mythology, David Hartman and Diane Zimbermoff explore the traits and characteristics that define a hero and demonstrate the transformation that his or her ego will undergo in order to become a more complete person. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Professor Indiana Jones is recruited by the United States government after they intercept Nazi radio transmissions referencing Jones mentor, Dr. Abner Ravenwood. It is at this time that it is revealed that Dr. Ravenwood was a renowned Ark of the Covenant scholar and that he spent his entire life attempting to find this mythological treasure. Despite Jones insistence that he agrees to find the treasure before the Nazis get to it simply because of its historic value and states that he does not believe in the supernatural. By the end of the film, Jones initial beliefs are completely transformed as he witnesses, first hand, the power of the Ark of the Covenant; after witnessing what the Ark does to the Nazis that wish to use it for their own evil ... After Alexander the Great conquest of Egypt in 332 BC, Egypt was ruled for the following three centuries by the foreign Greek dynasty of the Ptolemies. Although Egypt was subjugated by Alexander in 332 BC it wasn t actually until 305 BC that the Ptolemaic dynasty was officially established. Ptolemaic Egyptwould have been considered one of the two greatest powers in the Hellenic East. However, there is evidence that shows that the first troubles that Ptolemaic Egypt had to face actually originated from Egypt itself. These troubles were formed largely due to the ethnic tension that had formed with the native Egyptians and the immigrated Greeks. There was a third community of people present in Ptolemaic Egypt at this time, these people being that of the Jewish faith (find better way to introduce this shit). It is the hope of this essay to prove through analyse of literary texts, papyri, and administrative decrees documented during the reign of the Ptolemaic dynasty that the tension between these two groups was extremely strong. This can be attributed to a fusion of the Greeks disdain for the native Egyptians and the Egyptians resentment of the Greeks due to the ill treatment they receive from them. Even from the very first migration of Greeks in Egypt, Ptolemaic Egypt was a bureaucracy were in which your social standing was determined by your race, and the prevailing ethnicity was that of the Greeks. Author Flannery O Connor opens the Gothic tale, A Good Man Is Hard to Find, as a family of six prepares to leave on a road trip to Florida where an escaped murder known as The Misfit is at large. Facebook manipulating thousands of user s newsfeeds does not pass the TARES test. Though it may give truthful and authentic results from an equitable variety of examples, it does not respect the people involved with the experiment because they are not aware that much of what they are seeing is fabricated information to feel some type of emotion. This is something that Facebook routinely does and when people were made aware of it, they were not happy posting their concerns on social media. Privacy activist Laura tweeted, I wonder if Facebook KILLED anyone with their emotion manipulation stunt. At their scale and with depressed people out there, it s possible. Rod Stewart s 1980 s anthem ignites a spark in one s mind to truly think deeper into the meaning of his decades old lyrics. Being young is something that every person has to go through and I believe that through the experiences of our youth we are able to grow not only in years but also in intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. By growing and going through the hardships that we experience as young people, we are then in turn able to give back to our children and future generations in helping them to grow and become better people. Being a parent is about being supportive. It s about unconditional love and overcoming the hard times to shed light on the good times. Although we cannot give them everything, what we can do is try our best to give them all we have, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Our children are the light of our lives and without them our days would seem meaningless and minute. What Rod Stewart is trying to capture in these lyrics is that no matter what happens in life and no matter how far away from home our children may be, they will always be young in our hearts. At birth we see our children as tiny, precious gifts of life and that image is the first snapshot we think of when we think of our children. No matter how old they are, our children will always be our little babies. That s the message that Rod Stewart is sharing with us, his children will always be the little boys and girls with scrapped elbows and dirty hands. They will always be the children that are scared of the dark and color outside of the lines. He wants us to understand that no matter what happens in life and no matter our children s ages, we will always be parents, and they will always be our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Craig Elwood Ls When diagraming Case Study House #16 by Craig Elwood I discovered that the plan was made up of a series of L shape geometries that were correlated and organized around a diagonal line. These L shapes varied in direction and size but were the regulating geometries of the plan, in specific the mass and void of the house itself. These L geometries identified the bones of the plan and allowed a rotation within the plan to be revealed and later emphasized. Once the rotation was revealed, groups of Ls were then analyzed, questioned, chosen and emphasized within a new diagram. These Ls rotated around a central point and reformed the mostly rectangular plan into a circular diagram. At this stage the Ls were associated with other geometries ... • 47. Literary Analysis Of Bule De Suif While at first glance Maupassant s story Boule de Suif seems to merely be a story of fellow travelers and their struggles to continue their journey, it in fact presents a more political and patriotic view of their journey and quarrels. The main characters, all of whom are French, are crowded together on a stagecoach and begin discussing their distaste and hatred for the Prussians, and their pride for the heroic acts of the French in the war. While the story begins with pride and patriotismfor the groups country, it will become apparent by the end that the prostitute Boule de Suif is in fact the only true patriot of the group. This sense of patriotism found in Boule de Suif also allows for a very unique insight into the political and economic themes residing within the story itself. Within the traveling group an odd mix of people come together to make for a very interesting position regarding social classand politics. Among the group there are nuns, prostitutes and members of the high class society of France. While they all come from different ways of life, they all experience the same sympathy and pride in their country and their distaste for the Prussians and the terrible things done by them . Even with this common pride for their country one cannot help to notice the symbolism and imagery of each character s distinct social class and role. Literary Analysis Of Hester At Her Needle The phrase Hester At Her Needle was never used once, however, all but one appeared outside of chapter five, which was ommitted since it appeared within the title. In chapter three, the shortened phrase at her needle was used by an aforementioned matron to describe Hester s needlework, tying it to her fantastical presentation of her punishment and titular scarlet letter. The following chapters Pearl and The Governor s Hall were not included due to the overwhelming usage of Pearl since it was the name of a main character, and Governor s Hall did not make an appearance outside of a title, making it impossible to delve deeper into its usage. Elf child was used five times to reference Pearl, which made up half of the eighth chapter s title, The Elf Child and the Minister , since Minister was overwhelmingly used in lieu of Dimmesdale, making its usage ineffective to connect to other chapters since it also appeared in chapter twenty s title. Elf child first debuted within the eighth chapter title, followed by usage in chapters fifteen, nineteen, and twenty four, making it rather delayed and its meaning obvious. First being used in chapter fifteen, Pearl was causing mischief and harmed a bird, which she quickly came to regret and gave up on throwing even more pebbles at even more birds. Once again in the wilderness, Pearl was once again described as an elf child in chapter sixteen as she left Hester, who went deeper into the forest. In chapter nineteen, Hester ... • 49. The Power Of Thinking Without Thinking By Malcolm Gladwell Books are the most easily driven routes toward education. They present themselves differently to different readers. We learn by what the dark words say on the bright pages. Authors that write traditional textbooks are not really singled out in terms of recognition among individuals. However, authors that talk to their readers but teach them simultaneously in books are the ones we tend to think about and respect more. Malcolm Gladwell is a stellar example of the latter. This essay will contain my findings on Malcolm Gladwell and his literature. Malcolm Gladwell is a journalist, an author, and a public speaker. He s been a staff writer for The New Yorker since he was 33. He has been featured in Time Magazine s 100 Most Influential People . Malcolm Gladwell graduated the University of Toronto s Trinity College with a history degree in 1984. In 2005, he published a book that would not only be one of his best sellers, but would also inspire others to study psychology. The name of that book is called : Blink; The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. Blink s overall synopsis contains a tactic that we use to make decisions everyday called thin slicing. Gladwell often describes thin slicing as a decision made based on our undetected subconscious opinions and biases. He shines a light of the fact that those decisions are often made within two seconds and that our subconscious is a locked door. He relates thin slicing to mind reading based on our memory of facial expressions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Forgiveness In The... Forgiveness: Necessity or Courtesy? Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, shows how forgiveness is important both to society and the individual. Whether a spiritual part of life, or just an act of courtesy, forgiveness plays a huge role in the lives of both Hester and Dimmesdale. Hester doesn t hold any hard feelings towards her town, even after being shunned and humiliated by her friends and neighbors. She was a self ordained Sister of Mercy; (126) meaning she was continued to be kind to others without showing irritation or hatred. Instead she helps those who need it, and made a good reputation for herself. Who is so kind to the poor, so helpful to the sick, so comfortable to the afflicted (127).
