Public Policy Debate
In today s world of ever evolving computer technology there is a growing concern for online
privacy. As suggested by Jason Noble, author of US debates security vs. privacy 12 years after 9
/11: The search continues for the right balance between counterterrorism efforts and individual
privacy, the concern of privacyonline has evolved since the September 11th terrorist attacks, even
though citizens are/were willing to give up civil libertiesfor a sense of national security. As the
digital age advanced into citizen s everyday lives, their right to privacy was diminishing. As
suggested by Sherry Turkle in, How Computers Change the Way We Think, younger generations are

Essay about Ethnic Differences Across Generations
Ethnic Differences Across Generations
Gish Jen s Who s Irish? explores a Chinese grandmother s thoughts and beliefs about her ethnically
integrated family. The grandmother tells the story as though she is looking back on past events and
thinking about how they have affected her present life. As her tale begins, she identifies her
granddaughter, Sophie, as a wild three year old (161). Perhaps the grandmother associates with
Sophie s strong will, because she reveals her own intense nature when she says, I am hard work my
whole life, and fierce besides. (161). Jen provides an immediate glimpse into the grandmother s true
character that remains constant. As the grandmother recounts her time living with her ... Show more

The grandmother is frustrated because she cannot get Sophie to stop taking her clothes off at the
park (164). She declares, John and my daughter agree Sophie is a problem, but they don t know
what to do. (164). Subsequently, the grandmother offers the suggestion, You spank her, she ll stop
because she considers it acceptable based on her cultural background (164). However, John and
Natalie are against spanking because they believe it gives children low self esteem, and In
America, parents not supposed to spank the child. (165). After many frustrating attempts to get
Sophie to keep her clothes on, the grandmother spanks her anyway (165). Following that, Sophie
keeps her clothes on in the park, but the grandmother does not reveal to Natalie how she succeeded
in gaining Sophie s compliance (165). This success leads to a short period of harmony between
Sophie, the grandmother, and Natalie.
During this period of concord, the grandmother believes she can help her [Sophie s] Chinese side
fight against her wild side. (166). She does this by teaching Sophie good habits such as not eating
food with her hands, not playing with garbage cans, and not hitting anyone (166). The grandmother
continues to spank Sophie despite knowing that Natalie disapproves of this method of discipline.
Clearly, the sixty eight year old grandmother has been forced to rely on her own ethnic experience,
which is that of a Chinese immigrant, to control her

Mead-Hall In Beowulf
The role the mead hall plays in Anglo Saxon warrior culture is an important one, for without
such a hall, there is no such basis for a community. The mead hall offers the security and stability
that a warrior needs after a long day. Likewise, it is also the warrior culture s ultimate
vulnerability, So times were pleasant for the people there until finally one, a fiend out of hell,
began to work his evil in the world (p1237). As presented in Beowulf, the mead hall is the very
reason he is given a chance to prove his extraordinary strength and power due to Grendal sneaking
in the great hall at night to ravenously devour warriors one by one, So, after nightfall, Grendal set
out for the lofty house...there he came upon them, a company of the best asleep from their feasting,
insensible to pain and human sorrow...he grabbed thirty men from their resting places and rushed to
his lair (p1238).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many grand feasts and gatherings occur in such a setting, warriors come home to the warm
hearth of the hall of their lord after completing the tasks they were sent out for. They might find
mead being distributed, women about, and perhaps even a young boy turning into a man. A fine
example is given in the book, what Grendal hears from a distance of such a grand Mead Hall, It
harrowed him to hear the din of the loud banquet every day in the hall, the harp being struck and
the clear song of a skilled poet telling with mastery of man s beginnings, how the Almighty had
made the earth a gleaming plain girdled with waters

Matters seemed to get worse when the windows were open and you were getting ready for bed,

Doctrine of Foreign Policy Constructed by U.S. Presidents
There were many presidents of the United States that were able to construct doctrines during their
presidency terms in office that defined their individual foreign policy goals and/or aims. Just to
name a few there was the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, Truman Doctrine 1947 and the Reagan
Doctrine of 1984. For example, the Monroe Doctrine was constructed for two main reasons: 1)
John Adams, Secretary of State, suggested the principle that the Western hemisphere was not an
option for any further colonization by the European powers and 2) the U.S. would defend the
freedom of other nations. The Monroe Doctrine proved its power in the 1900 s when President
Roosevelt enforced the doctrine during the Venezuela Border Dispute as well as securing the
independence of Cuba from the abusive Spanish rule.
During his Presidency, The Ronald ReaganDoctrine was a foreign policy in the United States from
1980 to 1991. The doctrine was to help eliminate communist governments such as Latin America,
Africa and Asia which were supported by the Soviet Union (Lagon, 1994). The plan was to
implement support to private and open guerilla and resistance movements that were supported by
the Soviet in communist countries. Containment was the official policy towards communism and
in creating the Reagan Doctrine, the focus started from keeping communism from spreading then it
shifted to eliminating existing communist governments. In addition to the eliminations of the
communist governments, the United

The Power And Ethics Of Language
The Power and Ethics of Language
It was April 2010. David Cameron and Gordon Brown were the political frontrunners of Great
Britain. However, that realization was irrelevant with what was about to happen. Everyone was
watching as the highly anticipated, first televised debates in the United Kingdom began. The
discourse ended after several hours, and a new candidate quickly emerged as the leader. His name
was Nick Clegg. He led the Liberal Democrats, the smallest party. One might think about it over
and over again and ask, How did such a thing happen? . The answer, in itself, lies within the
influence of the media, the power of language, and how its words are intertwined so masterfully
that the effect becomes immeasurable. As Diane Setterfield once noted, There is something about
words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. They wind themselves around
your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your
skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic. The press
established a perception for Clegg and made it known not only to all those in attendance, but to
everyone who was watching across the nation. Based on his calm, collective demeanor and the
way he was in control, Nick looked like the host. David and Gordon, on the other hand, appeared
rattled and uncomfortable. They went from being the top two candidates to guests, in a matter of
several hours. That just did not seem

Tension Between Mental Health And Social Care
There is significant tension between care and control in current legislation and guidance in
mental health and social care. Politicians face severe pressure from the media, service users and
their families, the public and advocacy groups on these topics. Professionals involved in social
care have a duty of care towards people with mental ill health. However, there is also a duty of
care towards members of the public and family members of people with mental illnesses. Some
people with mental illness can display aggressive behaviour, injuring themselves or others. There
have been some high profile cases where people with mental illnesses have committed murders or
assaults. This has created tension between the policies of increasing the availability

part. For some change is a hard thing to accept. The problem of implementing a change is often
more human than technical. How to install changes and have the changes accepted is a skill I need

because of his development of missiles and rockets for the United States of America and Germany.
He boosted the efforts of the Americans during the cold war with the Soviet Union and became the
first head of the National Aviation and Space Administration. This is important to us in aviation
because he helped to propel American aviation to new heights with technology developed during
the space race.

Consequentialism, By John Stuart Mill Essay
Consequentialism is a broad ethical theory that describes one s actions to be good or bad depending
solely upon the consequences of those actions. The distinguishing element of this theory from
others is that the action itself has no value without analyzing the expected consequences, as
explained by William H. Shaw in Consequentialism , ...when it comes to rightness or wrongness,
nothing matters but the results of our actions (Shaw 28). Then the question is, what exactly does it
mean for a consequence to be deemed good ? Utilitarianism, a more specific form of
consequentialism, answers this by describing a good action to be one that brings about the most
happiness or well being for everyone. John Stuart Millstates, The creed which accepts as the
foundation of morals utility or the greatest happiness principle holds that actions are right in
proportion as they tend to promote happiness: wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of
happiness (Mill 7). This theory seems simple when applied to everyday situations. However, it
can become tricky when applied to more complex, multi faceted, situations. Obviously there are
differentiating levels of happiness. For example, in a situation where it seems there may be no
such thing as a happy outcome, the anticipated consequence that is deemed to be the lesser of two
evils would be perceived to bring about the most well being compared to the other choice. This
theory may also seem difficult because it is based on

SONA: Own Gender Bias in Change Detection for Gender Specific Images
The previous research was based on change blindness, such as, not able to view change when in an
environment. Changes of the environment can vary to the color, people, etc. In addition, there are
two different types of processing, such as, bottom up and top down. For instances, the bottom up
process observes the physical missing in the environment. And, the top down process observe the
beliefs, expectation etc. of the participant. Furthermore, the question for this research was that men
and women would not differ their capability to view changes in images. In addition, that men and
women would view changes sufficiently in the images if it pertain to their gender rather than the
opposite gender.
The methods used in this research were participants, materials and procedures. For instance, the
participants consist of 53 undergraduates, in detail, 31 women and 23 men. In addition, the race of

Essay about Theme of Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Young Goodman Brown Theme The themes in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
are not as obvious as might be expected. This essay intends to present an interpretation of the tale
along the lines of theme. In reading Hawthorne s tales, Herman Melville in Hawthorne and His
Mosses (in Literary World, August 17, 24, 1850) makes discoveries relevant to the themes: Where
Hawthorne is known, he seems to be deemed a pleasant writer, with a pleasant style, a sequestered,

Enroute along the path with the sinister fellow traveler, Goodman repeatedly recalls his feelings
for his wife: Well, then, to end the matter at once, said Goodman Brown, considerably nettled,
there is my wife, Faith. It would break her dear little heart; and I d rather break my own! Friend,
said he, stubbornly, my mind is made up. Not another step will I budge on this errand. What if a
wretched old woman do choose to go to the devil, when I thought she was going to Heaven! Is
that any reason why I should quit my dear Faith, and go after her? Faith! shouted Goodman
Brown, in a voice of agony and desperation; and the echoes of the forest mocked him, crying
Faith! Faith! as if bewildered wretches were seeking her, all through the wilderness. And when
Goodman thinks that he has lost his Faith to the devil, he despairs: My Faith is gone! cried he,
after one stupefied moment. There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come, devil! for to
thee is this world given. And maddened with despair, so that he laughed loud and long, did
Goodman Brown grasp his staff and set forth again, at such a rate, that he seemed to fly along the
forest path, rather than to walk or run. At the very climax of the tale the protagonist does not think

Ella Baker Civil Rights Movement Summary
When students from the University of Greensboro, North Carolina, staged a sit in to integrate
lunch counters at F. W. Woolworth stores, they had no idea they were laying the foundation for
Baker to organize the first student led social activist group in the nation. The four students staged
their demonstration on February 1, 1960, and within only a few weeks, nearly 300 more students
had staged similar sit ins across the country. Because of such an overwhelming response, Baker
convinced the SCLC executives to organize student protest groups as the energetic and self
governing arm of the Civil Rights Movement where she would serve as their mentor and advisor.
Ella Baker s ability to think spontaneously and envision the potential of a movement was evidenced
by her foresight to see a shift in the political climate with the student led sit inmovement. Baker
encouraged students to see themselves as the main facilitators for change. Because of this catalyst,
the students adopted that same group centered viewpoint and formed an organization named the
Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee or SNCC. The group recognized Baker as their
founding mother.
Following the successful launch of SNCC, in March of 1964, Baker worked to lay the groundwork

Soteriades the Sage was one of the most famous cooks in Ancient Greece. Legends say he served
many kings and always had a new dish for each type of person he served, including the elderly,
lovers, and philosophers. This is proven in my source Greekalicious a historical cookbook
written by Maria Bernardis; Who (Soteriades the Sage) claimed he prepared different dishes for
different moods and ages. The Ancient Greeks had very similar culinary techniques as the modern
day Greeks. The Greeks valued a variety of foods and plants and incorporated them in preparing
some of their finest dishes, many that are still prepared and eaten today.
Bread and wine were some of the most important ingredients to the Ancient Greeks. They ate bread
with almost every meal. The Ancient Greeks most common breakfast was bread dipped in red wine
with fruit. They also occasionally ate bread with lunch and dinner and often had it as a midnight
snack. To support this, the Ancient Greeks drank wine with their breakfasts.

each day, culminating in 7 hours of intercultural awareness. Because of the lengths of the podcasts,

I listened to the 1st podcast September 7, 2016. It was on an issue that has risen in Ukraine
between two orthodox churches, the Ukrainian Orthodox church of Moscow and the Ukrainian
Orthodox church of Kiev. In a small village in Ukraine called Pticha had the members of the UOM

that is happening between Russia and Ukraine. The leaders of the Ukrainian church of Moscow
believes that the members of the church of Kiev are being too political. They say this because the
members of the church of Kiev are saying that those involved in the Moscow church are not true

Blue Collar vs. White Collar Work
Throughout history the lives of the people in the working class have not always been easy. People
always work hard to earn money and support their families; however, people don t always work in a
suitable working area. The term Blue Collar is jobs that require manual labor from people. The
problem with these kinds of jobs is that the places the people work in can be extremely unsanitary
and may cause a bad working environment for the people in it. Blue collar work is also the work
most people do not want to do but it is needed for the people who do white collar jobs to prosper.

people don t realize what these big companies are doing and put a stop to it. For example the shoe
company Nike employs many people but the thing people don t know is that there are 12,000
young women in Indonesia making the lowest amount of money and working long tiring shifts.
Every $80 sneaker Nike makes it only costs them 12 cents for the labor. This shows the unfair
treatment of these workers and how the company is taking advantage of them and it is not only
Nike doing this but any major company uses the same force of labor. In Who Makes the Clothes
We Wear? it says Government officials raided a sweatshop filled with immigrant Thai women
laboring as little as 59 cents per hour. Also not only were they being taken advantage of the
discipline was enforced by threats of rape and beatings.(26) This goes to show the little care they
have for these workers and the actions that are being taken against them. It also shows a dark side
to these companies in which the workers are being treated worst than dogs.
In the article Reapers by Jean Toomer it says that Black horses drive a mower through the weeds

Why Is Mr Smith Goes To Washington Still Relevant Today
The film, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington is an great example of what is going in the politics
back then and today too. Some characters in the film are Jefferson Smith Young Senator and the
main character, Clarissa Saunders Smith s Assistant, Joseph Paine Senior Senator, Jim Taylor
Political Boss, Gov. Hopper Governor, Chick McGann Taylor s Assistant and Diz Moore
Newspaper Reporter and Saunders friend. The film shows how Taylor, Paine and other guys are
treating Mr. Smith and how corrupted they are. In the end, Mr. Smith proves that he haven t done
anything wrong and proves it. The result made Paine and Taylor mad and were found guilty.
Throughout the film, we can learn lesson that nothing can be kept hidden, like corruption and

There are few scenes from the film which proves that the film is still applicable and relevant
today. One of the example from the film is, when Mr. Smith is appealing and trying to prove that
he hasn t done anything. Mr. Smith was speaking from about last seven hours and taking the
stage slowly. One of the member says to take a break and give more explanation next morning
because it was already midnight. Mr.Smith asks the Speaker of the House and he says once he
stops talking today, he won t get the stage back in the morning. And so thats why Mr.Smith
refuses to take break and continous to talk. So this is one of the example from the movie, it
relates to today and what we learned in the class. In our class we learned the same characteristics
that once you take a break, you don t get the floor or chance to speak back again. So the law hasn
t changed in many years and that is why the film is still applicable

Freedom Of Religion, By Dallin H. Oaks
Freedom of religion is one of the most cherished foundations of both American society and the
Church. The eleventh Article of Faith provides an excellent definition for freedom of religion, We
claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience,
and allow all men the same privilege: let them worship how, where, or what they may. As society
grows less religious, there are concerns that freedom of religionis in danger. In his 1990 Ensign
article Religion in Public Life, Dallin H. Oaks states that we must reaffirm and even contend for
religious liberty. The best ways we can defend our freedom of religionare to ensure that our
government is secular and to exercise self government in the... Show more content on

Only in a nation where religious dissent was accepted and protected as a fundamental right could a
religion like ours develop and thrive.
In his treatise, Memorial and Remonstrance against Religious Assessments, James Madison
pointed out, Who does not see that the same authority which can establish Christianity, in
exclusion of all other Religions, may establish with the same ease any particular sect of
Christians, in exclusion of all other Sects? As members of the Church and as American citizens,
our promotion of freedom of religion is both a matter of promoting the general welfare and
promoting our own self interest. In matters of religious liberty, it is necessary that we recognize
that our approach to the religious freedoms of others sets a precedent that could potentially be used
against us. This applies both restrictions on the practice of other faiths and the legal compulsion of
others to follow the tenets of our own faith.
We must jealously guard our own freedom of belief and practice in our own private lives.
However, when we feel that public policy is in some way infringing on our religious beliefs, we
need to take a step back and ensure that we are not merely uncomfortable with others exercising
their own freedom of speech and religion to criticize our views. In the Virginia Statute for Religious
Freedom, Thomas Jefferson said,

Mistakes In Shaka
To some the mistakes that are made throughout life are considered as deeds that define what
others reflect of us rather than what you may think of yourself. In reality we are human beings,
we all make mistakes whether those mistakes may be big or small they don t define us. Instead
those mistakes help us grow, they shape us into the people that we have become today, and they
continue to shape us into the people that we will be in the future and so on. Ted talks why your
worst deeds don t define you discusses why our deeds do not define us. During the video Shaka

Sampson and John H. Laub Social Disorganization Theory directly links crime rates to
neighborhood ecological characteristics. An essential source to the theory is that place matters
in shaping the likelihood that a person will become involved in illegal activities. An individual s

which approves delinquency. As Shaka said in his Ted talk that he was not from a good

them when is parents became divorced. Even though he came from a neighborhood with many
disadvantages he was still a good student with high hopes and dreams. Wakefield and Wildeman

Black Newspapers And The Holocaust
After researching newspaper articles covering the events of Kristallnacht, one question lingered:
How did black newspapers continue to cover the Holocaust? After finding limited articles
pertaining to the events of Kristallnacht, I was curious to see if more coverage would be dedicated
to the events that came after. I specifically wanted to look into African American newspapersof the
day in order to see how the African Americancommunity reacted to the atrocities. During this time
period many African Americans were facing persecution at home, so I figured they would
approach new of the Holocaust with a different outlook than the rest of Americans. For this paper I

Were they given ample amounts of space to tell the full story or were they only given two
paragraphs? These questions can help me understand how prioritized news of the Holocaust was in
the black newspapers. Another driving question I had was how did the newspapers approach each
story. Did they approach it as a simple news piece only displaying the facts or did they dedicate
space to give their opinions on the matter? If they gave their opinions, we could see how African
American journalists thought about the events, and more importantly, how they wanted others in
their community to feel about these events. Lastly I wanted to know how these newspapers related
these stories to the persecution they faced in America. Did they use this opportunity to shed light
on their own suffering? Did they use their own suffering to offer empathy to European Jews? Did
they use their own suffering to discredit the suffering the European Jews? Answering these
questions will be immensely helpful when determining how black newspapers covered the
Holocaust as it happened. They will also help me focus on certain areas when looking over primary
documents. During this time period there were many flourishing African American newspapers
across the country. I chose to pick four, the Chicago Defender, the Pittsburgh Courier, the
Philadelphia Tribune, and the Los Angeles Sentinel. These newspapers stretch from the East Coast

Greek Influence On Minoan Society
Ancient Greece has influenced us today in so many ways. The first Greek people were the
Minoans. Their success was based on trade, instead of conquest. They set up trade outpost
throughout the Aegean world. They got new ideas about fields such as writing and architecture
from Egypt and Mesopotamia. They used these ideas and adapted them into their own culture. We
learned a lot about the Greek s from their frescoes, which are colorful paintings completed on wet
plaster. They often depicted Minoan society, and they told us that they valued the sea and they
worshipped a bull as well as a mother goddess. In about 1400 B.C., Minoan civilization
disappeared, and the Mycenaeans replaced them. The Mycenaeans were the first Greek speaking

They developed their own unique ways, at the same time. Specifically, Greeks developed news
ideas on governing each individual Greek polis. A polis is a city state. The earliest civilizations
began around fertile river valleys. Strong rulers organized ways or irrigation that helped produce
surpluses of food that were needed by large cities. By 750 B.C., a rapid population growth forced
many Greeks to leave the overcrowded valleys. Because fertile land was limited, the Greeks
expanded overseas. The gradual scattering of Greek colonies took place all around the
Mediterranean from Spain to Egypt. They carried their ideas and cultures to all the places they
traveled. Greek civilizations had several different types of government. A monarchy is a
government system where a hereditary ruler exercises a central power. Slowly the power shifted
to a class of noble landowners. They could only afford bronze weapons and chariots, so they
were also military defenders of the city states. An aristocracy is the rule by a hereditary
landholding elite. As trade expanded, a new middle class emerged in some cities. This class
consisted of wealthy merchants, farmers, and artisans. They challenged landowning nobles and
then dominated some city states. The result of this was a form of government called an oligarchy.
Power is in the hands of a small, wealthy elite. The changes in military technology

Stereotypes In Mexican Culture
Stereotypes are uneducated opinions towards a certain group, most commonly used within races,
skin colors, and cultures. Stereotypes are usually from a majority group towards a minority group.
Most of us do not think about it much but, Stereotypes are in our everyday lives, and everyone has
taken part of a stereotype, either they have been the one stereotyping or they have been the victim
of a stereotype and has been stereotyped. Throughout my life, I have heard a lot of stereotypes
towards my kind, and more than likely it is always a negative stereotype. Some stereotypes
through time die off but as they die off, new stereotypes flood or society. I am a minority, I am
Mexican American and classify myself and embrace myself as one. The stereotype that I have
experienced the most is that all Mexicans are unintelligent delinquents. The stereotype of Mexicans
being unintelligent and lazy was influenced by the media. Media sources in our lives skew the way
we judge people. This stereotype may be taken lightly by everyone who iterates it but what is not
taken into account is the effect this stereotype has in the community for those of us that are
Mexican. It has a negative impact on my community, I noticed that the negative effect of this
stereotype starts by influencing a couple of individuals and then expands to the community as a
whole. The stereotype that Mexicans are these unintelligent delinquents gets planted in our heads at
a young age and that affects the way some of

Specifically, its mission is to identify, confront, and undermine the communications of al Qaeda
affiliates. To achieve its goals, the CSCC is divided into three entities: intelligence and analysis,

section, the CSCC coordinates its efforts with various U.S. intelligence agencies. There are two
guiding principles the intelligence and analysis section follows. First, it must ensure all of its
efforts are interagency coordinated. Prior to the launching of the CSCC, there was very little
interdepartmental coordination. Within the U.S. government, there were multiple agencies with
overlapping responsibilities within the counterterrorism/counter violent extremist realm, yet their
efforts were uncoordinated. Second, the intelligence and analysis section attempts to make the best
use of information provided by intelligence agencies and academic analysis of the adversary of

digital counter violent extremist communication tools. These tools are used to counter terrorist
groups ability to gain support and to recruit new members. The materials produced by this section

The Grand Ole Opry Analysis
In the year 1927, George D. Hay a director at Nashville radio station was in his preparation to
kick off on his program that he introduced in the year 1925 (Kyriakoudes, 2004). The program
was known as the WSM Barn Dance that was locally listened to and was also well known
countrywide. When the program started, Hay introduced a mixture of comedy and hillbilly music
entertainment which was off schedule and later on the conductor who was known as Walter
Damrosch shut off the show which was airing at NBC network. They claimed that there was no
place in the classics for realism as country music had no place for lyrics or for writing music that
had reality inside them, (Kyriakoudes, 2004). However, it implies that Hay had introduced
musicians on his show that had meaningful music which compiled of both entertainment and
realism.
During this time, music was considered a form of entertainment but it was for Hay to introduce
artists that stood out and showed that there was more to music than just entertainment. In addition,

Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity
Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his
king around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book
either at Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the
Frankish kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that
the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book
concerning the life of King Charlemagneto be used by further generations or, more likely based on
the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to
be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the
foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual
father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers
of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a
way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his
contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of
Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to be a strong leader as well as a friendly person
in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that Charlemagne was in fact controlling,
relentless, ferocious, and aggressive.

How Scientists Can Most Efficiently Complete Organ...
Abstract: The purpose of this experiment is to test how scientists can most efficiently complete
organ printing. In this lab, the cells will be suspended in a substrate called sodium alginate
collagen, hydrogel, and other reactants. These materials will react to then embed the cells to their
goal location. Then, the cells will be able to be fixated into layers. These layers will then come
together and form tissues, which according to biological organization will form organs. The inkjet
bioprinter allows for this to occur. Tiny inkdroplets form a digital design for the organ printing, and
in horizontal sheets, the organ is created tissue by tissue. This lab will test to see which percent
concentration of the sodium alginate collagen composite will prove to be most effective when
organ printing. The dependent factor that will determine the conclusion will be the percent of
efficiency of cell survival rate. Four trials will be completed in which the same organ is printed and
all factors are kept constant, except for the percent concentration of the substrate.
Introduction:
In the past, the only way to replace diminished cells, tissues, and organs was from organ
transplantation. An organ donor was needed, and the tissues would be surgically removed from the
donated body and placed into the recipient. Due to the current research being conducted, it is
believed that tissue engineering and organ printing can contribute to the process of improving and
saving lives.

Female Sexual Offenders And Female Sex Offenders
Just like most crimes, the number of female sexual offenders is much lower than the number of
male sexual offenders. This is especially true about sex offenses. For a while, most people didn t
believe that woman could even commit a sex related crime; besides prostitution. There is still a
stigma around the topic; woman are the victims, not the offenders. This is not true though. Female
sex offenders have their own category. This is because their motives and actions are different than
a man s. The research done on female offenders can be bias because it is such a small amount
compared to the malepopulation of sex offenders.
Woman are thought to make up less than 5% of all sexual offences (Harris, 1979). This is very

The victims of a female s sex offender are generally younger than a man s victim. An
investigation was held in Arkansas in 1999 and reported that 50% of their victims were
categorized as 11 16 and 24% were in the 4 10 age range (Tewksbury, 2004, p 368). Solis and
Benedek mention a study that found 60% of males who reported sexual abuse had identified a
female as the offender (1993). The female offenders who abuse young boys are suggested that
they have a difficult time associating with adult males and they use the boys as a substitution
(Solis and Benedek, 2012). This could be because of their own trauma as a child, they do not have
healthy relationships with any adult male in their life. So, they go after children. It is also pointed
out that females are more likely to victimize other females. One thought on why females victimize
other females is because they have a male counterpart, who is attracted to females. According to
Tewksbury (2004), the female offender knew the victim:
In Fromuth and Conn (1997) s study of self reported sexual perpetrators in a college population,
68% of the victims were identified as family members. Faller (1995) reported that in the sample of
40 clinically referred perpetrators, 85% were mothers and 55% abused only their own children,

Exemplarence Birdseye Research Paper
Clarence Birdseye is commonly known as the founder of the modern frozen food industry. An
entrepreneur, American inventor and naturalist, Birdseye began his career as a taxidermist.
Birdseye s next field assignment, off and on from 1912 to 1915, was in Labrador in the Dominion
of Newfoundland (now part of Canada), where he became further interested in food preservationby
freezing, especially fast freezing. He was taught by the Inuit how to ice fish under very thick ice.
In 40В°C weather, he discovered that the fish he caught froze almost instantly, and, when thawed,
tasted fresh. He recognized immediately that the frozen seafood sold in New York was of lower
quality than the frozen fish of Labrador, and saw that applying this knowledge would

A Linguistic Analysis of Obama’s Inaugural Address
Rhythm and Rhetoric: A Linguistic Analysis of Obama s Inaugural Address

Acknowledgment
My appreciations to my supervisor Stuart Foster for very helpful advice during the research.
Abstract
In this essay I shall analyze Barack Obama s Inaugural Address, January, 2009 from the perspective
of various linguistic techniques. More specifically, I shall propose and focus on the idea that the
composition of the speech has an aim to create a unity of the speaker and the audience in order to
deliver the message. Moreover, the speaker maintains the atmosphere of unity throughout the
speech, so that the speech produces an effect when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

performance that aims the delivery of the message. I will focus on the structural and functional
properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the
performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech
was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an
idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun).
Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are
for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for
analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural
and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In
subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a
presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the
electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience
s expectations. That is why, I think, this aspect should be taken into account while

Game Of Thrones And Tyrell s Of Society
Imagine a real life saga of Game of Thrones and you suddenly find yourself in the midst of the
Cerseis and Margaerys of the world. It s a comical clichГ©, where privy and entitlement go hand
in hand. It s not that they mean to be insensitive, per se; they re just too busy acquiring the
worldly goods they were promised at birth and oblivious to all else. I confess that building
resistance against the Lannister s and the Tyrell s of society is challenging. Fitting in with a
group of people who on any given day, are carted off on a private jet to their beach house or boast
about their expensive cars is exasperating. They follow each other blindly like unsullied slaves of
the rich and famous, each tries to out do and overthrow the other to obtain

Gentry Lee should recommend the launch for the MBE mission. As stated in the case study,
Gentry Lee is introduced to the project with a significant amount of experience working with
NASA and interplanetary exploration missions (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010). Multiple review boards
took place to discuss in detail the consequences and likelihood of risks occurring. Tiger teams

The risk review boards also define time and cost reserves for the project. According to the case
study the reserves provide a bumper for parts of the project that can go wrong, while still allowing
those parts to continue to move forward and meet its intended goal (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010).
2.2 What Role does each play, and what is critical for success?
2.2.1 What is the role of the risk review board?
Redmill (2002) stated that It is often claimed that the greatest value of risk analysis lies not in
the values derived but in the fact that the process forces us to think deeply about, and therefore
better understand the risks. The methodology and processes established as part of the risk
review board were imperative for the success of the MBE program because it forced all parties
involved to better understand the risks of the project. The role of the risk review board was to
do a deep dive into critical risks and determine the likelihood and consequence of that risk
occurring during the project. The review board is made up of skilled and highly qualified experts,
they are tasked to review each risk critically and thoroughly. Although the board was made up of
12 people in JPL, NASA and the main contract, it was the responsibility of the project team
engineers to effectively communicate the mitigation strategy for each risk. Kaplan and Mikes

Analyze the first humans.
One of the first humans, or hominids, was discovered to be living in the eastern and southern
regions of Africa approximately three to four million years ago. They were named the
Australopithecines, which means southern ape men. These bipedal hominids developed basic stone
tools. Another kind of hominid known as the Homo habilis, or handy humans, was discovered in
Africa by Louis and Mary Leakey in 1959. The Homo habilis had a significantly larger brain than
the Australopithecines. Equipped with a more complex brain, these hominids were able to not only
walk upright, but also to gather various nutritionally beneficial foods such as seeds, nuts, and meats.

The land north of the Indus River was thought to have been unoccupied and segregated from the
growing civilization in the river valley to the south. But recent evidence proves otherwise; that
there was, in fact, a lost civilization located in the region north of the Indus River. Archaeologists
have discovered mudbrick settlements and irrigated fields that stretch all the way from the
Caspian Sea to modern day Afghanistan. They have also discovered proof of writing, trade with
other civilizations, and the domestication of animals like sheep and goats to have occurred in the
area. These remains indicate a civilization dating back to approximately the third millennium
B.C.E. The founders of the civilization have not yet been discovered, but this mysterious society
serves as proof that ancient civilizations could prosper in areas beyond the river valleys located on

Analysis Of On The Waterfront
On the Waterfront was photographed in such a captivating way. Boris Kaufman had a vision
ahead of his time. Many scenes in the movie are understood, not just through the script, but from
the cinematography as well. Three scenes in particular catch my eye. It is the artistic style and
flare of conveying the same idea in multiple mediums. The first scene is when Terry and Edie are
on the rooftop at Joey s pigeon coup. This scene portrays the moment in which I believe was the
catalyst for Terry that lead him to be truthful to Evie and stand up to Friendly. The second scene
that I will speak about is when Kayo Dugan is killed. When the preacher is giving his speech to
all the longshoremen. That speech was a testament of one man speaking out for what he knew
was right. The third scene that I will choose for this essay is where Terry walks to Friendly s
dock office. After the fight, Terry s march to work puts you on the edge of your seat. Each scene
has depth that few movies achieve. The first scene is the rooftop scene with Terry and Evie. The
whole scene is shot with natural light. Kaufman begins the scene with a long shot of the
rooftop. Terry is waving a long stick with a rag at the top of it to call back the pigeons to the
coup. I believe Terry waving the white flag was an implied surrender to Evie s love and the truth
of what really happened to Joey. Even though, Terry is still conflicted afterwards, this is his first
step toward standing up to the Friendly and his

Comparison Between Am And Fish Cheeks

not seem like this is a story of learning and positive influences, so begins one of many such
stories about a child being positively influenced by a parental figure in a way that will affect
every decision he/she will ever make. Parents have an enormous impact on what their children do
and what ideals said children believe in. Without parental interaction, children may become lost or
come to accept mistaken ideals such as the rightfulness of stealing which Roger, a main character
symbolizing a child, actually agrees with when the reader originally reads the story. While some
children might find their way if left alone, many would become overwhelmed and their young
minds would perish. In this article, two texts will be discussed that express this topic: Thank You,

In Reverence Research Paper
With nothing but a demo and a relatively unknown five year old EP named Hallucination
under their bullet belts, In Reverence has erupted from the vast pool of upcoming death metal
bands with vicious charisma and brimming with confidence alongside the release of their dystopian
themed debut album: The Selected Breed . What is most impressive about In Reverence is
how they exhibit the level of professionalism expected from seasoned bands such as Behemoth and
Dimmu Borgir even though they are only just surfacing. Excellent production and passionate talent
help construct the uneasy atmosphere that The Selected Breed displays. Elongated guitar
harmonies deeply placed at the back of the mix yet always visible slither around unhurriedly during
the title track and Anthropogeny in contrast to the relentless riffing and trembling tremolo

Analysis Of Unequal Childhoods Class, Race, And Family Life
Summary: Unequal Childhoods Class, Race, and Family Life Annette Lareau, author of Unequal
Childhoods Class, Race, and Family Life, revealed her research findings in this enlightening text
featuring twelve socially, economically, and culturally diverse families having a child nine to ten
years of age respectively in their nuclear familyunit. These families were garnered from the author s
coinciding study comprised of eighty eight children. Lareau, along with her research assistants,
visited each family approximately twenty times. Visits included time spent within the home, as well
as family events, school functions, doctor s visits, structured activities, shopping trips, and church
services. Wide ranging contexts allowed researchers a unique opportunity to observe and record a
multiplicity of interactions within each family unit. Exploring the nuances of race and social
position beginning in childhoodand culminating in adulthood Lareau explores different approaches
exercised by parents in raising children. Separating families into three categories, including: middle
class, working class, and poor, the author began her study. Attempting to answer the question, What
is the outcome of these different philosophies and approaches to child rearing? Lareau discovers
that the answer was found in the transmission of differential advantages (Lareau 2011:5).
Accordingly, these advantages equip children with tools to navigate through life progressively or
prohibitively respective to the individual instruction obtained in childhood. In unearthing these
discoveries, the author employed the use of ethnography through naturalistic observation utilizing
field notes and taped recordings of interviews with family members. Poor and working class parents
were found to hold to an accomplishment of natural growth parental philosophy. Natural growth
promotes a clear separation between children and adults, employs the use of directives, places little
emphasis on the importance of verbal communication and eye contact, allows children greater
independence, and promotes deference and submissiveness to adults. Inspiring and positive
qualities can be found in children raised in homes exercising this perspective, qualities such

Machiavelli Essay On The Prince
The time of the Renaissance is filled with growth of intellect, beauty of nature, the dignity of
mankind, and the rising of artists. It is characterized from the move of scholasticism, a devotion
specifically for the theological and philosophical teachings of the Church, to humanism, a devotion
to the humanities of rhetoric, arithmetic, and other subjects. An example of this movement is seen
in Machiavelli s The Princewhich describes Niccolo Machiavelli s ideal ruler and how to obtain
stability, because it was lacking during the time he was writing this, as there was a power shift from
the Mediterranean to Northern Europe. While Machiavelli promotes stability, he has a disordered

It speaks to a time of great changes in Europe in the age of the Renaissance and moving from a
period of scholastic thinking to a period of humanism and the love of education, the dignity of
mankind and the rising of the arts. The time of peace would, however, cease to fail and collapse
into one of the most chaotic periods of Europe s history, the Reformation. Many of these
movements of the Renaissance are what caused the Reformation. Machiavelli wanting stability is a
good thing and should be desired, but should not use all means, like viciousness to obtain it. Saint
Augustine s response to this act of disordered love is that while love of country is good, however,
not the highest good. Europe, or Italy for that matter, is not eternal, but temporary, and the love

Evolution And Contributions Of The Indo-Aryan Family
2.2.3 The Indo Aryan Influence
Following the Dravidians, came in the band of invaders who called themselves Arya(Sinclair,
1884). It was during the 2nd millennium B.C. that these invaders made their way into India via
north western borders of India (Emeneau, 1980)(Zograf, 1982). It is this language family that
hold the highest position in the linguistic landscape of India. The Indo Aryan family is a branch
out of the Indo European language family which made its way into the Indian soil (Zograf,
1982). The Aryan impact of the Aryan heritage can be seen substantially in the current Indian
culture is a result of its invasion which had lasted for about 100 years (Zograf, 1982). It is during
this phase of invasions that the Aryan family had brought into India not a single but rather a
collection of related and different languages and dialect (Zograf, 1982). The beginning of the
Aryan influence had started with the language India considers to be the language of their Hindu
religion and that is the Vedic language (Zograf, 1982). The earliest form of Indian texts in which
the religious poetries were written in was known as the Vedas (Zograf, 1982). Slowly came in the
next phase of literary development and came in the language which is considered to be the root of
all the Indo Aryan languages, Sanskrit (Zograf, 1982). Sanskrit covered the whole of the Indo
Aryan linguistic domain (Zograf, 1982). Then as the middle of the 1st millennium B.C. came the
middle stage of the Indo Aryan

The Neolithic Revolution
Lasting Impacts and Legacies of Events and People in Ancient History Section One The
Neolithic Revolution In Neolithic lecture and presentation, the Neolithic advances are described
in detail. The Neolithic period is crucial to later history, and created a lasting impact, because of
the developments made at this time. During the Neolithic period, food production was changed;
agriculture and livestock raising was invented, this secured a stable food supply. These
inventions created the foundation of the food industry as we know it today. Having a steady
supply of food then set into motion the other developments of the era. A stockpile of food meant
that communities could save the food for later, creating a food surplus, and this overabundance
of food allowed for an increase in population. Another result of the food surplus was gaining the
ability to trade with other communities for other raw materials and goods. The majority of
people no longer needed to work as food producers, so specialized craftsman in the communities
evolved and developed. The individuals who remained working as food producers could then
trade with the craftsman for their work or product, and both would benefit from the exchange.
Social classes also emerged from the Neolithic Revolution. The classes were based on wealth and
status; individuals and groups that gained control of a food surplus could gain power in the
community by having control over the distribution of it. This laid the framework for any

Serial Killer Richard Ramirez
Crescendo of Terror
Late in the 20th Century, Hell glutted on humanity. Its first bloodletting of that season of the Devil
occurred on the warm evening of June 28, 1984, when an earth bound Lucifer found his way into
the small Glassel Park apartment of 79 year old Jennie
Vincow. Throughout the Los Angeles area a damp humidity had oppressed the air that day, and
when the evening came and the temperature slightly cooled, Jennie left her window open to invite
what little breeze there might be into her flat. Like a fallen leaf, decayed and tossed from its
source, a fallen angel, dark, angry and also decaying, blew across the sill of that open window.

All they knew of him was what Hernandez was able to tell them: He was tall, gaunt, dark, maybe

This time, the killer didn t wait nearly a year to murder again. He struck within the hour. His next
victim that same evening was petite
Taiwanese born Tsai Lian Yu, who, driving her yellow Chevrolet down North Alhambra Avenue in
nearby Monterey Park, withered when someone with the eyes of a madman forced his way into her
car and shot her. He had thrown his own car into idle, simply entered hers, pushed her onto the
pavement, called her bitch, then blew her into eternity at point blank range.
Fast. Neat. Clean.
Then dematerialized into the darkness from whence he came.
Child s play.
The police were beginning to realize they might have a problem on their hands, but they remained
stumped. Eyewitnesses who thought they had seen the killer described him as tall, gaunt, dark,
maybe
Hispanic.
Ten days later, this elusive phantom whose physical description could fit any one of thousands of
males in the Greater Los Angeles area required more blood. This time, shooting his prey didn t
quite satisfy the urge; the demon must have been hungry, he must have been frantic, for when he
entered the home of the sleeping Zazzara couple, he produced a bloodbath.

As suggested by Jason Noble, author of US debates security vs. privacy 12 years after 9 /11: The search continues for the right balance between counterterrorism efforts and individual privacy, the concern of privacyonline has evolved since the September 11th terrorist attacks, even though citizens are/were willing to give up civil libertiesfor a sense of national security. • 4. Essay about Ethnic Differences Across Generations Ethnic Differences Across Generations Gish Jen s Who s Irish? explores a Chinese grandmother s thoughts and beliefs about her ethnically integrated family. The grandmother tells the story as though she is looking back on past events and thinking about how they have affected her present life. As her tale begins, she identifies her granddaughter, Sophie, as a wild three year old (161). Perhaps the grandmother associates with Sophie s strong will, because she reveals her own intense nature when she says, I am hard work my whole life, and fierce besides. (161). Jen provides an immediate glimpse into the grandmother s true character that remains constant. As the grandmother recounts her time living with her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The grandmother is frustrated because she cannot get Sophie to stop taking her clothes off at the park (164). She declares, John and my daughter agree Sophie is a problem, but they don t know what to do. (164). Subsequently, the grandmother offers the suggestion, You spank her, she ll stop because she considers it acceptable based on her cultural background (164). However, John and Natalie are against spanking because they believe it gives children low self esteem, and In America, parents not supposed to spank the child. (165). After many frustrating attempts to get Sophie to keep her clothes on, the grandmother spanks her anyway (165). Following that, Sophie keeps her clothes on in the park, but the grandmother does not reveal to Natalie how she succeeded in gaining Sophie s compliance (165). This success leads to a short period of harmony between Sophie, the grandmother, and Natalie. During this period of concord, the grandmother believes she can help her [Sophie s] Chinese side fight against her wild side. (166). She does this by teaching Sophie good habits such as not eating food with her hands, not playing with garbage cans, and not hitting anyone (166). The grandmother continues to spank Sophie despite knowing that Natalie disapproves of this method of discipline. Clearly, the sixty eight year old grandmother has been forced to rely on her own ethnic experience, which is that of a Chinese immigrant, to control her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 5. Mead-Hall In Beowulf The role the mead hall plays in Anglo Saxon warrior culture is an important one, for without such a hall, there is no such basis for a community. The mead hall offers the security and stability that a warrior needs after a long day. Likewise, it is also the warrior culture s ultimate vulnerability, So times were pleasant for the people there until finally one, a fiend out of hell, began to work his evil in the world (p1237). As presented in Beowulf, the mead hall is the very reason he is given a chance to prove his extraordinary strength and power due to Grendal sneaking in the great hall at night to ravenously devour warriors one by one, So, after nightfall, Grendal set out for the lofty house...there he came upon them, a company of the best asleep from their feasting, insensible to pain and human sorrow...he grabbed thirty men from their resting places and rushed to his lair (p1238).... Many grand feasts and gatherings occur in such a setting, warriors come home to the warm hearth of the hall of their lord after completing the tasks they were sent out for. They might find mead being distributed, women about, and perhaps even a young boy turning into a man. A fine example is given in the book, what Grendal hears from a distance of such a grand Mead Hall, It harrowed him to hear the din of the loud banquet every day in the hall, the harp being struck and the clear song of a skilled poet telling with mastery of man s beginnings, how the Almighty had made the earth a gleaming plain girdled with waters ... • 8. Doctrine of Foreign Policy Constructed by U.S. Presidents There were many presidents of the United States that were able to construct doctrines during their presidency terms in office that defined their individual foreign policy goals and/or aims. Just to name a few there was the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, Truman Doctrine 1947 and the Reagan Doctrine of 1984. For example, the Monroe Doctrine was constructed for two main reasons: 1) John Adams, Secretary of State, suggested the principle that the Western hemisphere was not an option for any further colonization by the European powers and 2) the U.S. would defend the freedom of other nations. The Monroe Doctrine proved its power in the 1900 s when President Roosevelt enforced the doctrine during the Venezuela Border Dispute as well as securing the independence of Cuba from the abusive Spanish rule. During his Presidency, The Ronald ReaganDoctrine was a foreign policy in the United States from 1980 to 1991. The doctrine was to help eliminate communist governments such as Latin America, Africa and Asia which were supported by the Soviet Union (Lagon, 1994). The plan was to implement support to private and open guerilla and resistance movements that were supported by the Soviet in communist countries. Containment was the official policy towards communism and in creating the Reagan Doctrine, the focus started from keeping communism from spreading then it shifted to eliminating existing communist governments. • 9. The Power And Ethics Of Language The Power and Ethics of Language It was April 2010. David Cameron and Gordon Brown were the political frontrunners of Great Britain. However, that realization was irrelevant with what was about to happen. Everyone was watching as the highly anticipated, first televised debates in the United Kingdom began. The discourse ended after several hours, and a new candidate quickly emerged as the leader. His name was Nick Clegg. He led the Liberal Democrats, the smallest party. One might think about it over and over again and ask, How did such a thing happen? . The answer, in itself, lies within the influence of the media, the power of language, and how its words are intertwined so masterfully that the effect becomes immeasurable. As Diane Setterfield once noted, There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. They wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic. The press established a perception for Clegg and made it known not only to all those in attendance, but to everyone who was watching across the nation. Based on his calm, collective demeanor and the way he was in control, Nick looked like the host. David and Gordon, on the other hand, appeared rattled and uncomfortable. They went from being the top two candidates to guests, in a matter of several hours. That just did not seem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason i chose him was because of his development of missiles and rockets for the United States of America and Germany. He boosted the efforts of the Americans during the cold war with the Soviet Union and became the first head of the National Aviation and Space Administration. This is important to us in aviation because he helped to propel American aviation to new heights with technology developed during the space race. • 15. Consequentialism, By John Stuart Mill Essay Consequentialism is a broad ethical theory that describes one s actions to be good or bad depending solely upon the consequences of those actions. The distinguishing element of this theory from others is that the action itself has no value without analyzing the expected consequences, as explained by William H. Shaw in Consequentialism , ...when it comes to rightness or wrongness, nothing matters but the results of our actions (Shaw 28). Then the question is, what exactly does it mean for a consequence to be deemed good ? Utilitarianism, a more specific form of consequentialism, answers this by describing a good action to be one that brings about the most happiness or well being for everyone. John Stuart Millstates, The creed which accepts as the foundation of morals utility or the greatest happiness principle holds that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness: wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness (Mill 7). This theory seems simple when applied to everyday situations. However, it can become tricky when applied to more complex, multi faceted, situations. Obviously there are differentiating levels of happiness. For example, in a situation where it seems there may be no such thing as a happy outcome, the anticipated consequence that is deemed to be the lesser of two evils would be perceived to bring about the most well being compared to the other choice. This theory may also seem difficult because it is based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay intends to present an interpretation of the tale along the lines of theme. In reading Hawthorne s tales, Herman Melville in Hawthorne and His Mosses (in Literary World, August 17, 24, 1850) makes discoveries relevant to the themes: Where Hawthorne is known, he seems to be deemed a pleasant writer, with a pleasant style, a sequestered, harmless man, from whom any deep and weighty thing would hardly be anticipated: a man who means no meanings. It would break her dear little heart; and I d rather break my own! Friend, said he, stubbornly, my mind is made up. Not another step will I budge on this errand. What if a wretched old woman do choose to go to the devil, when I thought she was going to Heaven! Is that any reason why I should quit my dear Faith, and go after her? Faith! shouted Goodman Brown, in a voice of agony and desperation; and the echoes of the forest mocked him, crying Faith! Faith! as if bewildered wretches were seeking her, all through the wilderness. And when Goodman thinks that he has lost his Faith to the devil, he despairs: My Faith is gone! cried he, after one stupefied moment. There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come, devil! for to thee is this world given. And maddened with despair, so that he laughed loud and long, did Goodman Brown grasp his staff and set forth again, at such a rate, that he seemed to fly along the forest path, rather than to walk or run. Woolworth stores, they had no idea they were laying the foundation for Baker to organize the first student led social activist group in the nation. The four students staged their demonstration on February 1, 1960, and within only a few weeks, nearly 300 more students had staged similar sit ins across the country. Because of such an overwhelming response, Baker convinced the SCLC executives to organize student protest groups as the energetic and self governing arm of the Civil Rights Movement where she would serve as their mentor and advisor. Ella Baker s ability to think spontaneously and envision the potential of a movement was evidenced by her foresight to see a shift in the political climate with the student led sit inmovement. Baker encouraged students to see themselves as the main facilitators for change. Because of this catalyst, the students adopted that same group centered viewpoint and formed an organization named the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee or SNCC. As members of the Church and as American citizens, our promotion of freedom of religion is both a matter of promoting the general welfare and promoting our own self interest. In matters of religious liberty, it is necessary that we recognize that our approach to the religious freedoms of others sets a precedent that could potentially be used against us. This applies both restrictions on the practice of other faiths and the legal compulsion of others to follow the tenets of our own faith. We must jealously guard our own freedom of belief and practice in our own private lives. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book concerning the life of King Charlemagneto be used by further generations or, more likely based on the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to be a strong leader as well as a friendly person in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that Charlemagne was in fact controlling, relentless, ferocious, and aggressive. ... In this lab, the cells will be suspended in a substrate called sodium alginate collagen, hydrogel, and other reactants. These materials will react to then embed the cells to their goal location. Then, the cells will be able to be fixated into layers. These layers will then come together and form tissues, which according to biological organization will form organs. The inkjet bioprinter allows for this to occur. Tiny inkdroplets form a digital design for the organ printing, and in horizontal sheets, the organ is created tissue by tissue. This lab will test to see which percent concentration of the sodium alginate collagen composite will prove to be most effective when organ printing. The dependent factor that will determine the conclusion will be the percent of efficiency of cell survival rate. Four trials will be completed in which the same organ is printed and all factors are kept constant, except for the percent concentration of the substrate. Introduction: In the past, the only way to replace diminished cells, tissues, and organs was from organ transplantation. An organ donor was needed, and the tissues would be surgically removed from the donated body and placed into the recipient. Due to the current research being conducted, it is believed that tissue engineering and organ printing can contribute to the process of improving and saving lives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is especially true about sex offenses. For a while, most people didn t believe that woman could even commit a sex related crime; besides prostitution. There is still a stigma around the topic; woman are the victims, not the offenders. This is not true though. Female sex offenders have their own category. This is because their motives and actions are different than a man s. Solis and Benedek mention a study that found 60% of males who reported sexual abuse had identified a female as the offender (1993). The female offenders who abuse young boys are suggested that they have a difficult time associating with adult males and they use the boys as a substitution (Solis and Benedek, 2012). This could be because of their own trauma as a child, they do not have healthy relationships with any adult male in their life. So, they go after children. It is also pointed out that females are more likely to victimize other females. One thought on why females victimize other females is because they have a male counterpart, who is attracted to females. I will focus on the structural and functional properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun). Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. Many scenes in the movie are understood, not just through the script, but from the cinematography as well. Three scenes in particular catch my eye. This scene portrays the moment in which I believe was the catalyst for Terry that lead him to be truthful to Evie and stand up to Friendly. The second scene that I will speak about is when Kayo Dugan is killed. When the preacher is giving his speech to all the longshoremen. That speech was a testament of one man speaking out for what he knew was right. The third scene that I will choose for this essay is where Terry walks to Friendly s dock office. The whole scene is shot with natural light. Kaufman begins the scene with a long shot of the rooftop. Terry is waving a long stick with a rag at the top of it to call back the pigeons to the coup. Analysis Of Unequal Childhoods Class, Race, And Family Life Summary: Unequal Childhoods Class, Race, and Family Life Annette Lareau, author of Unequal Childhoods Class, Race, and Family Life, revealed her research findings in this enlightening text featuring twelve socially, economically, and culturally diverse families having a child nine to ten years of age respectively in their nuclear familyunit. These families were garnered from the author s coinciding study comprised of eighty eight children. Lareau, along with her research assistants, visited each family approximately twenty times. Visits included time spent within the home, as well as family events, school functions, doctor s visits, structured activities, shopping trips, and church services. Wide ranging contexts allowed researchers a unique opportunity to observe and record a multiplicity of interactions within each family unit. Exploring the nuances of race and social position beginning in childhoodand culminating in adulthood Lareau explores different approaches exercised by parents in raising children. Separating families into three categories, including: middle class, working class, and poor, the author began her study. Attempting to answer the question, What is the outcome of these different philosophies and approaches to child rearing? Lareau discovers that the answer was found in the transmission of differential advantages (Lareau 2011:5). Accordingly, these advantages equip children with tools to navigate through life progressively or prohibitively respective to the individual instruction obtained in childhood. In unearthing these discoveries, the author employed the use of ethnography through naturalistic observation utilizing field notes and taped recordings of interviews with family members. Poor and working class parents were found to hold to an accomplishment of natural growth parental philosophy. Natural growth promotes a clear separation between children and adults, employs the use of directives, places little emphasis on the importance of verbal communication and eye contact, allows children greater independence, and promotes deference and submissiveness to adults. It was during the 2nd millennium B.C. that these invaders made their way into India via north western borders of India (Emeneau, 1980)(Zograf, 1982). It is this language family that hold the highest position in the linguistic landscape of India. The Indo Aryan family is a branch out of the Indo European language family which made its way into the Indian soil (Zograf, 1982). The Aryan impact of the Aryan heritage can be seen substantially in the current Indian culture is a result of its invasion which had lasted for about 100 years (Zograf, 1982). It is during this phase of invasions that the Aryan family had brought into India not a single but rather a collection of related and different languages and dialect (Zograf, 1982). The Neolithic Revolution Lasting Impacts and Legacies of Events and People in Ancient History Section One The Neolithic Revolution In Neolithic lecture and presentation, the Neolithic advances are described in detail. The Neolithic period is crucial to later history, and created a lasting impact, because of the developments made at this time. During the Neolithic period, food production was changed; agriculture and livestock raising was invented, this secured a stable food supply. These inventions created the foundation of the food industry as we know it today. Having a steady supply of food then set into motion the other developments of the era. A stockpile of food meant that communities could save the food for later, creating a food surplus, and this overabundance of food allowed for an increase in population. Another result of the food surplus was gaining the ability to trade with other communities for other raw materials and goods. The majority of people no longer needed to work as food producers, so specialized craftsman in the communities evolved and developed. The individuals who remained working as food producers could then trade with the craftsman for their work or product, and both would benefit from the exchange. Social classes also emerged from the Neolithic Revolution. The classes were based on wealth and status; individuals and groups that gained control of a food surplus could gain power in the community by having control over the distribution of it.
