1. Production Diary
In this production diary I will show you how I will create my
newsletter. On the front page of my newsletter I will write some
teasers for my music page and editor’s welcome note.
On the second page I will write my music article, on the third the
fashion article and on the last one I will write about sports. I will do
my newsletter on Adobe Photoshop.
Front page
First, you have to create an A4 page, by clicking “File” from the top
left corner, and you have to put the width as 21, height 29.7
centimetres, and the resolution 300 pixels/inch.
Now I will select the ruler tool to make 3 equal
columns, 7 cm each (21:3).

2. Now I will draw the lines for the columns with the line tool. You can
select it by right-clicking the rectangle tool, and then select the line
tool.
Now I will create 3 boxes with the rectangle tool.

3. In the red box I will put the title, the date when the newsletter will
be published, social media and
the price of the newsletter.
In the first column I will write
editor’s welcome note, and in
the big one the main articles
which are at the music and
fashion page.
In the blank space from the
bottom I will put interactive
features, and in the middle the
website of the newsletter.
Now I will write my
title, using type
tool.
Now I will change
the size, the colour
and the font.
I have to make the
title to stand out,
by adding drop and
inner shadow.

4. Now I will add the price, date and social media. For social media, I
will use snapchat, facebook, twitter and Instagram, because these
are the most used by my target audience.
Now, I have to add interactive features at the bottom of the page. I
will add interactive features like zoom in/out, print, save, next page
etc. I will add interactive features because nowadays everyone uses
interactive features and it makes the navigation easier.
As I said, in the middle I will write the website where you can find the
newsletter and buy it.

5. I decided to make the navigation tools smaller and to put the social
media at the bottom. I also changed the colour of the website, and
deleted the part with “visit our website”, and the price, because it’s
too long and I will just write “First issue: 50p”.
Plus, I will make my title bigger and I will put the word “news” under
the title, and for the word “BANG” I will use a picture with an
explosion which is used in comics, and for the word “BIG” I will put a
picture with my friend standing on the letter “B”.

6. Second & third page
On the second page I will write my article, which will be about
Untold, an electronic festival in Romania, Knotfest which is a metal
festival in USA and about a new band which will release their first
album soon, called Tonkpils.
On the third page I will write the fashion article, because I think that
music and fashion work well together, and I will advertise clothes
from Zara, Nike and Adidas on 2 columns, and Slipknot summer
collection on the third column.
Now, I will start designing the
double pages.
First, I will create a new file, and
for dimensions I will use 42cm
width, 29.7 height and the
resolution 300.
Now I will delimit the
columns, and adding
boxes.
I added some boxes and
I tried to make the page
like a mirror, that’s why
I used the same colour.

7. Now I will start adding the navigation tools at the bottom of the
pages. I will put the same navigation tools for both pages and I will
try to make it like its mirrored.
I decided to change the last column on the fashion page and make it
yellow like the first one from the music page, because like I said I
want it to be mirrored.

8. Now I finished the layout for music and fashion, now I will start doing
the layout for the 4th
page.
Forth page
On the 4th
page I will write the sports article, which will be placed on
2 columns, on the first one about a basketball team, and on the
second column I will make a prediction of the teams that will play in
final of the Champions League, and a poll and you can vote your
favourite football team and you can win tickets for the final of the
Champions League!
First, I will draw the text boxes,
then I will add the navigation
tools and social media.

9. This is the layout for my fourth page.
Now I will start writing the articles.
First page
On the first column, I will write the editor’s welcome note, and I will
include my signature there. And on the second column I will write
teasers for the music article and a poll of the topic of the next
newsletter.

10. I decided to write a little bit from every article on the front page, so I
will make them to know what they will expect from this newsletter,
and don’t waste money to buy it if they don’t like it.
This is my front
page. For the
bottom of the
second page I will
add the pictures
later.
Second page
The third page will be for music. Now I have to think what to write
for the articles, but I have some ideas.

11. After 3 periods and a
lot of wasted time to
convince my friend to
take pictures of them
to use them for the
music article, I
finished! I think that it
looks alright, and I
asked my classmates
to read the articles and
to give opinions about
how it looks, and
everyone said that it’s
looks good, except for
one which said that it
has too much writing
but I think that it is
enough.

12. Fashion page.
On the fashion page I will
write about the sales from
Nike, Adidas, Zara, New
Look and Massimo duty,
and I will add a picture of
my sister and one of my
friend, and near my
sister’s picture I will add a
picture with the shirt that
she wears, under I will put
the price, and near some
buttons and you can
select which colour you
want to see.

13. Sport page
For the sports article I will
use a picture of mine, and
I will tell the story of a
teenagers which won a
race. In the first column I
will talk about the PSG vs
FC Barcelona in the final
of the Champions League,
and I will add an option
to vote who you think the
winner will be.
