The students produced a 5-7 minute movie called "The Devil's Playground" to teach teenagers aged 14-16 about safety from strangers. They recorded all scenes in 4 days and edited it in 3. They changed the script and some scenes to make the dialogue more natural. Strengths included establishing shots, but the quality could have been better with school cameras instead of phones. They also lacked enough actors for all planned scenes.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Unit 2 Task 8
1. Task 8
Aims of the brief
We had to produce a short movie, 5 to 7 minutes, titled “The Devil’s Playground”, in
which we have to enforce the message of safety of the teenagers around strangers.
The target audience for our movie are teenagers between 14 to 16 year old.
Planning
Our planning went pretty well. We recorded the whole film in 4 days, and we edited it
in 3. We recorded all the scenes that we needed, so we didn’t had to go back and
record a scene again. The only problem was one of our phones which shutted down
while we were recording, so we had to use another phone.
We have changed a lot from the planning to the movie. We have changed the script
a lot, because we wanted the dialogues to seem natural, so everyone came with
ideas after. We have changed some scenes, and deleted others because we didn’t
had enough actors to realise them. We have added other scenes too, for example
the scene in which the killer kills the 3 teenagers into the house. The location is the
same as we said that it is going to be in our planning. We changed the budget a bit,
because we changed the last scene in which we needed the duct tape and the rope.
Strengths
In our opinion we had some good shots in our film, for example the last scene, when
we included a establishing shot of the forest and then we showed the teenager tied
up by the tree. We took all the shots that we planned to, and we recorded everything
outside the school.
Areas of improvement
However, the quality of our film could’ve been improved. If we were provided with
cameras from school the video and sound would be better, but luckily we had
phones good enough that we used to record with. We recorded with three different
phones, because one of it was our friend’s and he couldn’t be with us all the time
when we recorded, and my phone had some problems and it turned of couple of
times, and we couldn’t open it after, so we used my father’s phone for some scenes.
Another area in which we could have improved is if we had more actors, because
our original scripts included 5 teenagers, but none of our friends wanted to be part of
the movie, all of us, except Ruben, had to record, and one friend of ours, Stefan
helped us and acted in our movie.
