The document describes the process taken to design the front cover and contents page of a magazine. Key details include: - A gray background was used for the front cover, with a central image of the model making eye contact with the viewer. Additional elements like text boxes, masthead, and images were added. - A color theme of yellow, red, blue, and black was established. 2. For the making of my front cover, I decided to use a
grey background, as I was replicating another magazine
which I thought looked very appealing. I used a mid-
body shot of my model, making sure she gave direct
contact to the camera. From looking at other current
magazines, I believe when the celebrity/ model is
giving direct contact on the page, as a reader, it makes
you feel more engaged. Therefore I placed this image
onto my front cover. I chose a grey background as I
think by choosing a monotone colour for a background,
it can allow you to use brighter colours within the text
and the image without it merging into the background.

3. I then added my chosen masthead design and placed it
onto my magazine. I then placed rectangles onto the
page to then put text inside them, I filled them in a
yellow colour as it contrasts the grey background and
also the red masthead. I copied the layout of the NME
magazine I was replicating as it makes it easier to
create a successful front cover.

4. I then began to create a colour theme within my
magazine, (yellow,red,blue,black). I added a quote to
make it more interesting to read for a potential
reader, for each sentences I used a different text font
so that my magazine didn’t look repetitive and
unprofessional. I used a enigma code “I couldn’t
believe that I had hit number one”, this is because it
would make the audience want to read more into the
magazine. In the top left corner I used two circles and
put one over the other as this looks more appealing
than just having one circle with text inside it, by
using a circle it is also different to the rectangles I
have also used on the page. In the bottom right
corner I placed a barcode by pressing ‘place’, by
doing this I didn’t have to crop anything.

5. On the top yellow rectangle, I then added two
pieces of text which gives it that magazine feel,
from looking at other magazines, the majority of
them have text at the top of the magazine which
is either a Buzz word or a Puff. I also included a
date to portray when the magazine was
published. In the bottom sentence, I included a
Buzz word ‘exclusive’ to make the magazine
seem more direct to the potential readers as
they would feel like they are getting their
moneys worth.

6. For the final stage of the progression of my
front cover, I added another image of a
band I had created, this shows the readers
what the magazine will include inside of it.
The magazine I was replicating also has
smaller images on top of the main image, I
thought this looked alluring and also filled
up the space on the page.

8. For the making of my contents page, I
began with a black rectangle across the top
of the page, I then added my masthead
again onto it as from looking at current
magazines, most of them include their
mastheads either at the top of the page or
in the middle.

9. I then added another rectangle, and
added ‘features’ inside it, I also added
page numbers with a title of what would
be included on that page. I've added
another picture of the band that was
featured on the front page and a page
number (58) where they will appear on.
I’ve used a italics text type for
‘contents’ as it is different compared to
‘TMM’.

10. I incorporated two more images of the
model that I used on the front cover.
From looking at current magazines, the
celebrity or model that is featured on
the front page, are also featured on the
contents page as they will be the
person/group that will appear most
throughout the whole of the magazine.

11. Around the biggest image I have placed a black
border around it to make it stand out against the
background. I have also included red lines
underneath the text to make the whole page look
more filled and professional. On the images I have
positioned larger page numbers onto them with
the right colours that stand out against the
images.

12. For my final step, I included a short
description for each band/artist that
would appear later on in the magazine,
this not only fills the page, but gives
added information about what will be
featured inside the magazine.
