Operations Management Definition
Operations Management Definition
Introduction In today s fast paced ever changing business world, organizations must deal with many
diverse issues. These issues range from maintaining their competitive edge in a fierce marketplace to
social, ethical and concerns regarding the health and well being of their employees. The advent of new
technologies has created organizational efficiencies however; it is a well known fact that healthcare
has lagged behind other industries with regard to automation. Healthcare is being asked to provide
high quality care with increased efficiency yet the patient population believes they are not receiving
quality care. McCleave (1996) states that health care managers should look to manufacturing ... Show

This can be accomplished by instituting processes to get patients in to see the respective provider in a
timely manner, and addressing all of the issues in an individual encounter. McCleave (1996)
documents other methods to increase productivity and quality in the healthcare setting. One would be
to create an environment where the physician does only what he needs to do. This means that
physicians need to shed duties that can be handled efficiently and in a cost effective manner by
ancillary personnel, registered nurses or physician s assistants. Office efficiency is another area where
improvements are possible. Processes should be evaluated as they relate to patient encounters and non
value adding steps should be eliminated. When one considers all the aforementioned possibilities for
increasing efficiency it is very likely healthcare will not only realize cost savings but will be able to
provide quality healthcare to the patient population thereby reducing the possibility of patients
returning to the office on an emergent basis.
Conclusion
Operations management is as stated by Henderson is an evolutionary position that is needed for
healthcare to prosper. Healthcare it is in a state of enormous change and is faced with economic,
regulatory, technological and consumer pressures that must be addressed in order for the industry to
fulfill its mission. Operations management will play an integral role in healthcare

Plant Based Diet Essays
A Plant Based Diet and its Ability to Support a 18 35 year old American | Philip Beckmann | Barbara
Hiles Mesle 5/14/2012 | Introduction When I was growing up I was taught how to hunt, fish and trap
animals for food as well as being fed an omnivorous diet, but today I have found that I no longer need
animals in my diet. The Vegetarian Times recently found that out of the 311 million people in the US,
7.3 million eat a vegetarian based diet and 22.8 million eat a vegetarian inclined diet. Over the past
century people have begun looking into the health implications of plant based diets as a way of
improving their health and increase their longevity. This research paper is intended ... Show more

(Driskell 29) These simple carbohydrates are easily broken down, converted into glucose for the body
and easily flow into the blood stream. The downside to this form of carbohydrates is that they are most
common in the form of refined sugars or refined flours which retain very few vitamins after being
processed. ( HealthStyle Fitness ) As the body uses this form of glucose a cycle begins which involves
fluctuations of high and low blood sugar. This cycle works when blood sugar rises after the
consumption of simple carbs and then as the blood sugar begins to drop the body demands more
simple carbs to bring blood sugar levels back to up. The cycle that is formed essentially keeps the
body from burning body fat because there is a continuous demand and consumption of simple
carbohydrates. The second form of carbohydrates is that of complex carbohydrates which consist of
polysaccharides, three or more monosaccharides. These complex carbs are found in the form of starch,
fiber and glycogen (animal starch). Those complex carbohydrates consumed in the form of starch are
found in plant foods like corn, wheat, potatoes, cereals, pastas, and beans. When they are broken down
these carbs allow for the slow production and release of glucose into the blood stream and allowing
for a consistent blood sugar level. (Guthrie 27) Dietary fiber is another form of complex carbs which
are present in plant foods because fiber is

Elie Wiesel s Research
For the survivor who chooses to testify, it is clear: his duty is to bear witness for the dead and for the
living. He has no right to deprive future generations of a past that belongs to our collective memory.
To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them
a second time. Elie Wiesel, Night
While Elie Wiesel is surely right in his statement, it is not the job of only holocaust survivors, but of
all people, to make sure that the horror of the Holocaust are never forgotten. One part of the
Holocaust, however, is often overlooked by the general public; The Nazi Medical experiments
conducted on the prisoners of the concentration camps. Acknowledging the atrocity of these
experiments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take the High altitude experiment , also conducted a Dachau under Dr. Rascher, for example. In this
experiment Rascher wanted to find the best way to save German pilots who ejected at high altitudes.
Rascher had subjects put into low pressure chambers that simulated altitudes as high as 68,000 feet,
and monitored their physiological response as they succumbed and died. (Tyson) If Rascher were
testing for Pilot survival, he would no that the pressure would slowly increase, as the ejected pilot
slowly parachuted down to the ground. Rascher, however, kept the pressure chamber at a set pressure,
incorrectly representing how the human body would react to ejecting at high altitude. Furthermore, if
the point of the experiment was to save pilots from high altitudes, why did they let some of the
subjects die in the chamber? Shouldn t they be testing ways to revive them, rather than kill them?
Even worse, to the subjects that survived the chamber, Rascher would perform vivisections,
[dissecting] victims brains while they were still alive to show that high altitude sickness resulted from
the formation of tiny air bubbles in the blood vessels of a certain part of the brain. (Tyson) The
dissections of the brain to discover the formation of blood vessel could easily have been discovered in
autopsy. Sure, this would require the subject to die, but at least they wouldn t have died by having

Shakespeare s Use of the Idea of Disguise in As You Like It
Shakespeare uses the idea of disguise in many of his plays. It is used as an escape from the characters
personalities and sometimes for comic effect. In As You Like it, the disguise becomes very comical as
in the time it was written only men could act on stage. This could lead to much confusion and comedy
in the roles of those in disguise. Disguise can give the freedom to a character to act how they like and
a chance for them to show their views. It was in the 16th Century that there became an increased sense
of self consciousness and identity. This led to people creating an image for themselves. If one can
create a self, they can create many different versions of themselves each showing a different aspect of
that person. This links in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As she is disguised as Ganymede, this is possible. She would not have been able to do this as a
woman. When she is disguised as a man, more people listen to Ganymede. Although it is the same
person, she can have much more say about her views and opinions when she is disguised as
Ganymede. However, simply because her personality is not accepted as a woman, it does not mean
that she is not presenting it. By showing that she enjoys watching the wrestling, she is revealing her
true personality. She does not have to be disguised as a boy to do this. The disguise may show other
aspects of the character s personality but it is still shown through their everyday person.
Another point to make on this matter would be that the character of Rosalind would have been played
by a male and the audience would know this. This could mean that the reason Shakespeare included
Rosalind s enjoyment of manly sports was because Rosalind is actually a man in the attire of a
woman. There is a large confusion of the gender of Rosalind throughout the play. By confusing the
gender, Shakespeare is focusing more on the personality of Rosalind than her appearance. The
question of gender is continued at the very end of the play. In many of his plays, Shakespeare ends
with an epilogue read by a male character. In As You Like it, the epilogue is performed by Rosalind.
The epilogue seems to be outside the play as if the actor was talking but Rosalind is still in character.
She says herself; It is

Electronic Medical Records
Computer Based Medical Records Abstract In the medical field there have been a lot of technological
advances and making health records electronic is one of them. The days of having a paper health
record are almost obsolete. An electronic health record keeps a patient s medical information and
history on a computer which is accessible to more people in less time. I will explain how the
continuity, communication, coordination and accountability of the electronic health record can help
the medical office. I will explain what can be included in the electronic health record. As an advocate
of the electronic health record I will also explain some disadvantages to the electronic system.
Computer Based Medical Records Electronic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the patients files should be backed up at least on a weekly basis to ensure that none of the
information is lost. (HIPAA, 2011) Another way for accountability of the electronic health record is to
have each person in the office has a key card or password to access the system. This will allow for the
physician to check back and see if anyone is releasing information or making changes that are not
authorized. This also allows for physicians to find out who made changes to a patients record if
information is inaccurate. (HIPAA, 2011) Electronic Health Records will include the same
information as the paper record. This includes basic patient information such as demographics,
medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, radiology images, and billing information.
(2006) Each individual doctor can specialize their system and what they want it to include. They can
add different components to the electronic health record that are important to them and needed in their
practice. (2006) Even though I am an advocate for the electronic health record there are drawbacks to
the system. Each individual physician will have to determine if the drawbacks are worth the
advantages of the system. One of the drawbacks to the system is privacy. Privacy will always be a big
factor. Some patients may not like the idea of having their medical information easily accessible by
almost anybody. (The HWN Team, 2009) Electronic health records

Biography Of John B. Watson
John B. Watson has been credited for founding the school of behaviourism in 1913, his now renown
lecture given at Columbia University begun the official founding of behaviourism and he became well
known for his Little Albert study that demonstrated how experience rearranged the stimuli that caused
emotional responses such as fear, rage and love. Watson may have founded behaviourism but he paved
the way for many individual functionalists such as Ivan Sechenov, Ivan Pavlov, and Vladimir
Bechterev to make their own contributions to the broader field of psychology. So what is
Behaviourism? Watson insisted that behaviour be psychology s subject of matter and that psychology
s goal was to be the prediction and control of behaviour. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Psychological Journal soon after published his lecture in which history now marks the formal
beginning of the school of behaviourism (Henley, 2014). Watson was not the only one to make a
contribution to Behaviourism many came before and after him.
Ivan Sechenov was the founder of Russian objective psychology (psychology that insists on studying
only those things that are directly measurable) (Henley, 2014), he studied medicine and sought to
explain all psychic phenomena on the basis of associationism and materialism, he strongly denied that
thoughts cause behaviour, he insisted external stimulation causes all behaviour (Henley, 2014, p. 370).
He also introduced the important concept of inhibition in his book Reflexes of the Brain.
Ivan Petrovich Pavlov obtained his degree on natural science and medicine, and continued on to study
physiology. His main interest was the digestive system, and his studies lead him to discover
conditioned reflex. Pavlov realised conditioned reflexes could be explained by the associative
principles of contiguity and frequency, organisms responded to the environment in terms of
unconditioned and conditioned reflexes (Henley, 2014, p. 375). Vladimir Bechterev obtained his
doctorate, and worked in the Psychic and Nervous Disease Department. In1904, Bechterev published
an important paper titled Objective Psychology , he argued alongside with Sechenov and Pavlov for a
completely objective psychology, but he directed his focus on the

How Does Elizabeth Proctor Create Tension In The Crucible
The historical events occurring in The Crucible are portraying the Salem witch trials that took place in
the Province of Massachusetts Bay during 1962. Arthur Miller the writer of this astonishing play, with
these unforgettable characters remaking this time in history. Fear pushes these Puritans to show the
true selves while facing the accusers in the court before the merciless judges. Dwelling in the heart of
Abigail Williams is revenge and shame, as Elizabeth Proctor is full of righteousness and faith being
the wife of John Proctor. Together they increase the tension and suspense of the play. Their

was a honest, sweet, reliable wife. When deciding his execution John offered for Elizabeth to speak of
an incident that had occurred because he knew she would tell the complete truth, even if his life was
on the line. He said to the judges, In her life sir, she will never lie (Miller, Act 3,111) they are both
clearly far apart from each other characteristics in differences, although they have a very common
similarity. Loving John, he commits adultery with Abigail and testifies that he has never had an affair

crime with John, but she would blame it on Elizabeth. Hating each other would be another similarity,
Abigail trying to get with Elizabeth s wife. While Elizabeth is trying her best to get her husband to

Palace Of Versailles Research Paper
I chose to do a virtual tour of the Palace of Versailles. I am fascinated by the royal family so the Palace
of Versailles is deemed suitable because it is the home of the monarchy of France. I began my virtual
tour of the most famous room known as the Hall of Mirrors. As you walk through the room, you can
see chandeliers after chandeliers lined the center of the ceiling and to the sides. The room is structured
like a barrel vault with round arch windows symmetric to the mirrors reflecting the garden. Golden
sculptures of women are placed in between the mirrors against the marble wall. The vaulted ceilings
are covered with illustrations of the success of France painted by Le Brun. He also decorated the
rooms so his artistic vision can be seen everywhere. My initial reaction of the room was that it is very
elegant and magnificent. I ve never seen anything so spectacular before. Every aspect of the room is a

statement that Le Brun was trying to make is that he wanted to show that the king is very successful
during his reign because he defeated his enemies and that he was a very powerful man. The room
focuses on the French victories through illustrations on the ceilings. One painting that caught my eyes

Meaning Of If Poem Meaning
If is a poem written by Rudyard Kipling in 1895 as a tribute to Leander Starr Jameson, but most
importantly, it is arguably one of the best pieces of poetry to date. However, the writing is a classic
ABAB format using iambic pentameters like the works of Shakespeare which has already been seen
countless times before. The Elizabethan style sonnets that are included are only mildly dissimilar with
the exclusion of a final couplet and the inclusion of some pentameters containing one extra unstressed
syllable. If the poem structure is not of particular interest, what makes this work of art so exceptional?
Kipling s application of repetition and personification effectively capture the reader s attention
through vernacular terms while still exuding eloquence and fluidity. Coupled with the valuable advice
from the poem s true meaning, If is nothing if not extraordinary. By simply glancing over the poem,
the words you and if are incorporated roughly 33 times combined. More often than not, the two are at
the beginning of lines in the format if you , creating the poem s signature anaphora. The word if
implies there are cause and effect scenarios where the road to becoming a grown man is up to the
readers choosing. However, the path to becoming an adult is difficult and requires a strong will and
the correct choices. The repetition of the word if reinforces the conditions to becoming a man. In most
incidents, the constant use of anaphora might be seen as a poet s

Jealousy In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Some argue that Mary Shelley did nothing shy from pouring her soul and heart into the novel
Frankenstein. Mary states that the novel was built off the happier times in her life, yet signs of
negative feelings, anger and jealousy can be found throughout the novel. In the 18th century novel
Frankenstein you can see many incidents where Mary Shelley s life was reflected into the writing. The
novel itself was set in multiple locations such as Geneva and England. These settings have a
connection to Mary Shelley s life. The novel begins with Geneva as the birth place of the protagonist.

Narrative Unreliability in Martin Amis Money
In Money: A Suicide Note Martin Amis describes the life of John Self, an extremely successful
filmmaker of TV adverts who takes part in the materialist game characterising the society of the
1980s. The protagonist is addicted to the 20th century, where he leads a careless life based on a daily
abundance of drugs, alcohol, promiscuous sex, handjobs and the porn industry. However, this
addiction leaves its marks on the body and character of John Self. His physical as well as social health
slowly deteriorate while Self is unable (and unwilling) to get off his never ending trip. For him life
seems to be mainly a holiday, and a very expensive one indeed. Only far too late does he realise the
dark sides of a lifestyle depending fully on money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, it is justified to claim that one of the reasons for John Self s own unreliability lies in the
fact that he himself is sometimes not aware of certain aspects of the story. Therefore, it is only a
logical consequence, and by no means part of Self s intention, that the reader is not properly informed
about what is going on at several points of the novel. For example, the dubious existence of his
antagonists Frank the Phone and the red haired woman who seems to follow Self almost everywhere
are out of his own understanding. Consequently, he cannot offer the reader a plausible explanation for
their motivation. In the end, it is the Martin Amis character of the novel, who sees through Fielding
Goodney s insidious plot, identifies John Self s partner as being both Frank the Phone and the red
haired woman and informs Self as well as the reader about his partner s real intentions. As a result of
his own lack of knowledge, John Self is simply unable to grasp the real connection between certain
elements of the story, and thus the readers have to figure out many things by themselves. Another
incident, where John Self is rather clueless regarding the truth, is when it comes to his girlfriend
Selina Street and her questionable faithfulness. Thanks to one of his friends, Self knows very early in
the novel that she is cheating on him but he is simply unable to establish the identity of her new lover.
Finally, it is Selina herself who tells him about her

The Issue Of Health Insurance
Currently, the issue of health insurance has been a bone of contention for the public regarding whether
the United States government should provide this health plan or not. People often possess different
perspectives and refer to pros and cons on both sides of the spectrum. While some believes a universal
healthcare system will set a foundation for a lower quality of service, increasing governmental finance
deficit, and higher taxes, others do not hold the same thought. A universal healthcare system brings
enormous advantages rather than disadvantages, such as all inclusive population coverage, convenient
accessibility, low time cost, and affordable medical cost, all of which not only provide minimum
insurance to the disadvantaged but also improve the efficiency of medical resources distribution.
When it comes to the healthcare system, the root of it can be tracked back to the nineteenth century. At
that time, compared to a private company, most of the service providers were hospitals, which provide
a people free charge service and inexpensive medicine because they were not profit oriented
institutions. To some degree, the expenditure of a household on healthcare at that time is lower than
the one of a modern household. Hospitals played an important role in offering the disadvantaged
healthcare resources and fundamental treatment. As the number of patients increased, they still needed
working capital to support their expenditure. Most sources of money were from

America s The Great Melting Pot
America the great melting pot. Some have argued that the melting pot analogy is inaccurate. Instead
America is like a tossed salad. A person can see all the individual ingredients that make up the salad.
People will argue of what can go into a salad and what cannot go into just as people will argue about
the place of certain groups with America. Some find disgust in certain groups of people and praise
other. The situation is dynamic. The way people interact with groups are constantly changing and
morphing due to different influences. Antisemitism is one of the ways people interact with the tossed
salad that is America. Antisemitism in United States is on a decline because other groups are being
used as scapegoats instead, Jews are not seen to pose a threat, a strong Holocaust remembrance, and
the hatred of African Americans continues to be the predominate form of hate in the American context.
The FBI website lays out the numbers. The site has hate crime statistics up to 2014. In 2014 there
were 609 anti Jewish biased hate incidents compared to 1,621 Anti Black or African American
incidents. The 609 number is down almost 300 from the 887 Anti Jewish incidents in 2010. Hate
Incidents overall decreased from 2010 to 2014. In 2010 there were 6,628 incidents. In 2014 there were
5,479. Although hate crimes overall have decreased, Anti Jewish incidents are decreasing faster in
terms of percentage. From 2010 to 2014 Anti Jewish incidents decreased approximately 31 percent.

Irish Monasticism And Celtic Christianity

Christianity. I would like to assist you in this task by relaying the information I have come to

important and of interest for a number of reasons. More specifically, the monastic influence on present

Without their practice of private penance and the creation of penitential s we would not have the

Christmas Truce Essay In 1914
The Christmas Truce
When Europe marched to war in the summer of 1914 each of the warring nations believed that the
fighting would be over in a few weeks. Instead by the end of December the First World War had
already claimed close to a million lives and there was no end in sight, but on December 25th 1914 at
several points on the Western Front, there was a brief respite from the fighting called the Christmas
truce.
The Christmas truce was a series of unofficial ceasefires along the Front and a brief celebration of the
holiday with gestures of good will and humanity between the enemies. A more formal Christmas truce
had in fact already been suggested by Pope Benedict XV three weeks earlier, but the warring nations
refused such an official act. This brief meeting of enemies as friends in no man s ... Show more

The British Petroleum Oil Spill and Lack of Response Essay...
The British Petroleum Oil Spill and Lack of Response
Last year, news spread of an oil spill off the Gulf Coast. These events occur periodically and usually
register much media attention. As British Petroleum (BP) executives could not shut off the crude oil or
prevent the damage it caused, people took notice. Millions of dollars in tourism, commerce and sales
were lost. Thousands of wildlife acres and ecosystems were also compromised. There were more
questions than answers.
What BP did to alleviate growing fears made the controversy. They said there were no problems
initially, then denied there were problems then they could not fix the problem. BP executives were

the easy target for critics and politicians alike. Haywood appeared to know the situation; he just did
not have any clue on implementing next steps. Think of Hayward as the equivalent of a headless
animal. Without a strategy to locate the leak and cap it, there oil continued to devastate the land and
water in the Gulf. Hayward often looked like someone who are unclear of the situation and/or how to
proceed. That only fueled the problems BP faced and would move forward on containing the spill and
the following follow up. (Luce, 2010) What should have happened was BP executives, be it Hayward
or someone else, proactively come out and said what happened in the Gulf, what was being done and
its progress. That would have cleared many concerns up front and had everyone on board from the
start. Instead, the company looked the other way. Unfortunately for BP, the spill got deeper and bigger
as the days unfolded. That just added to the mounting troubles for the company. These problems were
nearly too numerous to mention. With many networking and media media tools available, the
company did little or nothing to improve its image in the public s eye. In fact, they harmed themselves
further by the way they conducted themselves. All they did is make them look more like the Keystone
Cops than a well run organization. (Capstick, 2010)

The article I chose is about spider monkeys and a problem scientists have found with their grooming

they all die off. It was found that by grooming each other, they are getting off parasites on the skin but
also ones from inside. These parasites can be found on dead skin that the other monkeys end up
pulling off during grooming which then transmits to the groomer. Since the monkeys don t stay around
the same group all the time, this parasite gets transmitted more easily and quickly. Now scientist can

Simon was an art director at large advertising agency, Junior, which was a contrast to Jenna s work in

With each project that is completed, the studio maintains key values that underline the process that
include hold(ing) in equal regard the process and craftsmanship while exploring the boundaries of
print through letterpress, colour and tactility . There is a large emphasis on craft and the importance of
ownership of the process. These key principles are aligned with key philosophies of the British Arts
and Crafts movement, which occurred as a result of the Industrial Revolution.
The Industrial Revolution resulted in changes to living and working conditions. Rather than the village
lifestyle that supported families working in small groups to oversee local production, there was a shift
in population from rural landscapes to vast cities. This resulted in work in factory settings. Fredreich
Engels describes how this caused the isolation of the individual in his book The Condition of the
Working Class in England . The working class were especially sacrificed, being subject to
overcrowding, and inappropriate conditions. Engels describes the unhygienic living and working
conditions including rough, dirty unpaved streets that lacked sewers and gutters. This contributed to
the spread of disease. Factories were made for the machine, and the work was autonomous with
workers being assigned one part of a production

Stare Decisis Precedent
Stare decisis and precedent are related because they both involve judges to use past decision in order
to make decision on more current decisions. When judges use precedent they look back on old court
decision on similar cases and then rule the same. When using stare decisis the judges will look back
on prior ruling and adjust their rulings for more modern day use for a more equal fairness under the
law. Both Stare decisis and precedents are important because with them the need for reviewing ever

punishment. However, just because they do promote fairness it doesn t mean that judges should only

The Milky Way
Introduction
Our galaxy, The Milky Way, is composed of billion of stars of all ages, sizes and masses. A common
stars, like our Sun, constantly gives out small amounts of X ray radiation, and larger burst of X rays
during a solar flare. Along with our Sun, stars shine as a result of nuclear reaction that happens deep
within their core. Causing chemical reactions that converts light elements into heavier ones and while
releasing energy in the process. Energy from the central region provides pressure to keep the star from
falling apart under its own weight. The contracting cloud is then called a protostar. A protostar is the
earliest stage of a star s life. A star is born when the gas and dust from a nebula become so hot that
nuclear fusion starts. Once a star has turned on it is known as a main sequence star. When a main
sequence star begins to run out of hydrogen fuel, the star becomes a red giant or a red supergiant.
The Birth of Star (Nebulas)
All stars start as a nebula. Nebulas are large clouds of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases.
Gravity then might pull the gas and dust in a nebula together. In example of this is the Orion Nebula,
which was located in excellent detail by NASA s Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space
Telescope. A protostar is formed from the contracting clouds deep within these clouds that gives rise
to knots with sufficient mass that the gas and dust can begin to collapse under its own gravitational
attraction (NASA, para.4). As

The Physics Behind The Electric Vehicle
The Physics behind the Electric Vehicle It has been estimated that there will be approximately 1200
million motor vehicles by the year 2020. That is almost twice the number of cars that are already
traveling on our busy roads. Due to this ever increasing vehicle population, the demand for fuel will
continue to increase as well. With the depleting supply of oil already an issue for the U.S. especially,
there is a growing interest in alternative energy fuels that can be used to power motor vehicles.
Electric vehicles (EV) are one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly cars available at this
point in time. By definition, an electric car is an automobile that is propelled by one or more electric
motors, using electrical energy stored in rechargeable or another energy storage device. The electric
motors used in these cars gives off instant torque, creating strong and smooth acceleration. Some of
the models of EVs have an electric motor for each wheel. Having these four motors not only allows
for better propulsion, but also for the use of braking and changing the kinetic energy back into
chemical energy in the batteries. The traction that the car gets is also increased with each wheel
driving. In some of the EV models the electric motors can be mounted directly inside the mounting for
the wheel, which enables a loss of all the moving parts between the motor and the wheel. When there
is no axle, differential, or transmission, the EVs have less drivetrain

Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking
What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few contrasting
objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative
filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they
start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is
usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup,
Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. The main aim for the
three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get risker for our characters, so they
evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they want to see and not the complete
truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth, therefore it is nearly impossible to create a
comprehensive code of ethics when making a documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes
will break the rules to show what they want to, be it to expose the truth or a personal

Why The Us Must Not Adopt Ifrs Essay
Reasons why the US Must Not Adopt IFRS
Globalization has been changing the world. It has interconnected people, nations, and even businesses.
Today´s business can share information to investors around the world thanks to the intelligent
software of the actual society. Being more specific, the way in which investors and users evaluate
businesses performance is through the information contemplated in their financial statements. These
financial statements illustrate the current assets, liabilities, and stockholder equity a company has in
order to help users take economic decisions. However, not all the companies are regulated to provide
the same structuralized information around the world. Each country possesses its own accounting
standard that regulates the preparation of financial statements of a company. In that way, companies
information might differ between countries making the comparability between financial statements
difficult to be implemented by users in order to assess the performance of foreign businesses. In view
of the need of a globally accepted accounting standard that promotes uniform standards for worldwide
financial reporting, the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC), which then becomes
replaced by the International Accounting Standard Board in 2001, was created (Cathey and Schroeder

Analysis of Shakespeare s Loves Labours Lost
Shakespeare s story, Love Labour s Lost, focuses the story on the endearing lust of men. Women are a

could equivocate today to whistling at a woman as she walks by. With the use of lies to tell a girl what
she wants to hear, the musk cologne in order to make you appear more sensual, or the cliché use of the

Immunotherapy Essay
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy has been on an upward trend in cancer treatments recently. By activating the body s
own immune system, immunotherapy puts to use the body s own powerful anticancer mechanisms to
achieve a response against the cancerous cells. Most of the current cancer treatments are non specific
immunotherapy, meaning that they boost the immune system in a more general way and act by
blocking antibodies and T cell receptors. On the other hand, specific immunotherapy targets tumor
antigens on cancer cells. One type of specific immunotherapy is the cancer treatment vaccine. Cancer
treatment vaccines are slightly different from preventative vaccines since they attempt to get the

Reflection Paper On My Writing Process
Reflective Memo
Description of my Writing Process
In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had
numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that
could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding
the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the
myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements.
Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson
to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several
challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write
several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any
potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will
convey a relevant meaning to my audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my
narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my
paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to
remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally,
replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar,
repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were
the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had
read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a
professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible.

helping the children, you are also helping their families. These parents provide supportive care to their
children and it a large emotional toll on the parents to watch their child die and know there is nothing

the cities and rural areas of Afghanistan use the solar energy for electricity purposes, and in countries
like japan and U.S it has a vast usage in industrial factories. This energy is the power that can be
converted in to electrical energy and is the most abundant renewable source available. We can invert
this power by modern technologies for different uses like, generating energy, providing light, heating
water, and many manufacturing uses. Furthermore, the companies that provide solar shingles can
make available many job opportunities. Solar energy technology is a common type of renewable

The World Bank Water Global Practice s Water And...
The World Bank Water Global Practice s Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) recently released a
working paper identifying findings that support new tactics for habit change in open defecation
behavior. These advances draw from the fields of psychology, cognitive science, and behavioral
science and were first outlined in the 2015 World Development Report (WDR) on Mind, Society, and
Behavior. WDR presents new insight into how people make decisions: thinking automatically,
thinking socially, and thinking with mental models, and highlights the potential of future policy
approaches that influence behavior while forgoing the assumption of individuals as rational decision
makers.
Open Defecation in India
Of the nearly one billion people across the globe who openly defecate, over half live in India. Despite
meeting the 2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) for water access, India achieved only
moderate progress in improvements to sanitation and reduction of open defecation. As of 2011, 49.8
percent of Indians still defecated in the open, and, although the number is decreasing, progress
remains slow in rural areas of the country and significant gaps remain between the rich and poor.
In 2014, Prime Minister Modi prioritized an initiative to place a toilet in every household in the
country by 2019 and provided 8 million toilets in the first year alone. Yet, simply providing toilets
does not ensure their use. Although infrastructure and access to proper latrines and other

Vanity Fair Corporation Inc. Essay
Vanity Fair Corporation was founded in 1899 and originally went by the name of Reading Glove and
Mitten Manufacturing Company in Pennsylvania. The company is now headquartered in Greensboro,
North Carolina. The company is associated with more than 30 brands that can all be structured into
five different coalitions, or categories. They are Outdoor Action Sports, Jeanswear, Imagewear,
Sportswear and Contemporary brands. The brands can also be divided between heritage and lifestyle
brands. A successful corporation like Vanity Fair can date back its success for many years but it also
has room for improvements. There are a few issues that the company should really work on in order to
stay successful for years to come. Vanity Fair was initially a vertically integrated company that made
its way to becoming a company involved in extensive outsourcing. According to the case Vanity Fair
Brands: Global Supply Chain Strategy, Most apparel companies typically concentrated on design and
marketing, and generally performed little or none of their own production, much of which had been
transferred to low cost countries around the world. In fact, while 49% of retail apparel sold in the
United States was made domestically in 1992, by 1999 this figure had dropped to only 12%. It was
very common for companies to switch gears on their production operations in order to maintain low
costs for the company. This can be a problem for Vanity Fair because it does not allow for a chance to

Colosseum
On the other hand, The Roman Empire can be divided into four respective imperials which are
Monarchy and Republic, Early Empire, High Empire and Late Empire. In this period of time, one of
advanced architectural prowess is an amphitheater named Colosseum beginning in 70 to 80. This
central located architecture could not only hold approximately 50,000 people but also enable them to
enter and exit the building easily and effectively. There are 80 entry gates with seat numbers guiding
the visitors to the right seat. Moreover, all corridors and staircases went according to the well plan and
organizing. Even if the arena was esthetically designed and constructed, it was the first purpose built
the political propaganda in term of entertainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders in the amphitheater perfectly exemplify the Greek style in Roman
Architecture. Romans, however, did not structure the orders functionally unlike Greek did. Moreover,
the use of the arch in the Colosseum, depicts that Roman did not limit themselves to post and lintel
structure. They developed round arch system from the Etruscan and consequently be the foundation of
Roman and western architectural mastery. For instance, aqueduct, bridge and building. This
architectural discovery also allowed Roman to support the big, heavy and complex construction like
Colosseum. This generated arch is not only sustaining weight of structure but also supporting interior
tunnels and open space inside the arena. In their effort to build the high and heavy building Roman
used wooden train and devices to transfer materials from ground up to great heights in record time.
Finally, The Colosseum became up to 160 feet tall. It could be considered as the tallest building
ancient Roman ever built. The arena was white due to extensive materials such as concrete, cement
and limestone. When the times went by, weather and environment conditions turn it to be dusty color
eventually Besides, the interior design is fascinating. Light and Shadow matters were needed careful
consideration. The whole stadium is under the retractable canvas called a Velarium in order to shield
people from the sun and rain during the daytime. In contrast, there is a huge beautiful chandelier
above the arcade and provide shining light in nighttime. The amphitheater had included more facilities
for spectators. For example, drinking water fountains or large

Importance Of A Lightbulb Moment
A lightbulb moment. My writing process has officially kicked off with the lightbulb moment. This is
the moment when the first line of my paper pops in my head or I have a sense of direction in where
the paper is headed. I can depend on the fact that this will not happen by staring at a blinking cursor
on a blank page. Some of my better lightbulb moments have been on the bus heading home or the
second I get into bed to go to sleep that is why my mom always taught me to keep post its and a pen in
my nightstand! I usually like to give myself at least a couple days to write my paper, edit the paper,
and to make sure I have an effective mic drop at the end, as my English teacher last year said.
However, seeing as I am starting this paper the night before it is due, I should also mention that I have
no problem starting last minute if I know what I am going to say and essentially have the framework
of a paper in my head. The lightbulb moment is the hardest to control, but a critical part to my writing
process.
The setting in which I write my paper is the easiest to control, and also a critical part to my writing
process. I find that the setting changes with each type of paper. I write at my desk in my room for the
average paper, especially if I am feeling confident in how the paper is going so far. I can play music in
the background and am two floors up from the kitchen and the family room, thereby avoiding
distractions. If it is a paper that is intimidating by name, like my

Role Of Materialism In The Great Gatsby
Jay Gatsby is a man with many dynamic qualities that are illustrated through his close ties to his past
desires. Within the masterfully crafted Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the past to play a major
role in Gatsby s disillusionment. While the book only highlights a sliver of Gatsby s life, Fitzgerald s
stunning writing allows the reader to recognize the crucial relationship between the protagonist and
his past through his pining for Daisy, materialistic values and his desire to achieve the American
dream. Gatsby s infatuation with Daisy Buchanan is greatly altered by past events, as seen repeatedly
throughout the novel. Fitzgerald uses a scene five years previous to the story to illustrate the
beginnings of Gatsby s obsession. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Gatsby s desire for success and to lead a prosperous life can be seen as early as his
childhood with his schedule for success written on the back of his book. One of Gatsby s more
positive qualities, as Fitzgerald subtly includes, is his drive and passion, and the past serves as a
backbone for what he wishes to achieve. While such ambition can be a positive trait, Gatsby s crass
materialism reflects poorly on his character. The fact that he purchased a grand house just to live near
Daisy and that he no doubt spent millions of dollars in attempt to see her at one of his parties makes
Gatsby seem shallow and extremely naive. Fitzgerald includes his nice shirts and large parties to
emphasize his lust for wealth and success, desires that can be traced back to the success he saw in Dan
Cody, the future he saw in Daisy and the potential he saw in himself. Fitzgerald most clearly uses this
obsession with money and material to serve as an aspect of social satire seen in the book with the Jazz
Age and the morals and obsessions that came with it. However, Fitzgerald also uses this to further
characterize Gatsby as a man infatuated with his past his ulterior motive, the meaning behind his mad
materialism is Daisy, an emblem of his

The Developments And Learning I Experienced During Buxton...
The objective of writing this reflective essay is to assess the developments and learning I experienced
during Buxton residential; pertaining to working as a group and individually with a view of improving
my shortcomings. I was assessed and given feedback by the supervisor in the areas I was not
performing better and guided throughout the residential to accomplish better individually as well as in
a group.
I am reviewing the work I performed in the group under the current research and methods to present
the learning I gained from the feedback and guidance provided by the supervisors. (Tuckman, Belbin,
Kolb and other researcher s work is used).
However, this essay will mainly focus on five main points which are team working, leadership, ...

(Tuckman, 1965, pp 396)
In the last activities I performed, I did my part for the team and did efforts for the team as a whole, not
completely for personal achievement. I did understand the point of working as a team not as an
individual working separately than the team working as one. (Tuckman, 1965, pp 396)
Leadership:
I was given the opportunity to lead in single activity which required to guide the team members based
on communication. I did planned and guided my members and explain them how we will work in that
activity according to my mindset and priorities. The problem I experienced was that regardless of the
understanding between group members, I was still not able to guide my colleagues to perform as I
expected. The main reason for me not delivering what I expected was that I didn t accounted for other
member s thoughts and priorities. (Beth Charles, 2011, pp 463)
In some of the other activities, I was working as a member however, I have to take control of the
situation as I built a general understanding of the group work and do take leadership role in the group
whenever required. (Belbin, 2010, pp 65)(Henny, 2008, pp501)
Communication Skills:
For me at the first it was a disaster in terms of performing in the team. The reason for that was the
absence of understanding and communication skills in me. (Tuckman, 1965, pp

Huntington s Disease Study
Huntington s disease, or HD, is a genetic neuro generative condition that is characterized by
progressive dysfunction in motor, cognitive and behavioral abilities. There are about 4 10 cases per
100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative
disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The
result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes
damage to neurons. The striatum of the brain and the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene but
other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life although
an early onset form can occur before the age of 20. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results showed
that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to the control
group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite suppressant,
demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and absorption
(Wang et al., 2014).
Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group
compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in the
body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a decrease in
glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang et al., 2014).
Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with Body
Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin levels is
usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular adipocyte
function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington s disease.
Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and showed erratic levels
of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which is also supported by the
increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD patients have a decreased
ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels (Wang et al.,

Blue Whale Adaptations
Despite its abundance, in quantity the blue whale is now considered to be an endangered species. Blue
Whales have been hunted for centuries, they can also be found in most oceans and because of this they
make an easy target for hunters. A unique feature of the Blue Whale is that they are the largest
mammal in existence they can grow up to 30 meters long and weigh up to 190 tons. Due to its size
they are the hunter s ultimate prize hence why they are endangered. Despite its size, its diet consists of
some of the smallest marine life such as, krill, shrimp and so on.
(Zach s Introduction.)
There are at least three distinct subspecies. The Blue Whale is found in the Indian Ocean and South
Pacific Ocean. Its habitat prefers the open ocean but can sometimes be seen offshore of coastal states.
The change in ocean temperature would also affect the blue whale s food supply. Stated are three main
regions for the Blue Whale which are North Pacific Atlantic also The Southern Hemisphere. It has
many adaptations that allow it to survive in its environment. It does not allow it to sleep. If it slept, it
would drown. Instead, it takes short naps instead of long slumbers. Has an extremely large fluke,
which allows itself through the water at a decent speed to escape dangerous situations. Its eyesight is
good in and out of the water but the best sense is the hearing. It communicates with other whales by

Judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The...
Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the
first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two
postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society
oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific
motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgment on the reader.
However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly. Shaffer tends
to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the judgment
ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm. ... Show more content on

The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors
leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The
Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts
with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through
their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in
himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and
primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25).
This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a
psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike
Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who
removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play
continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. Dysart s specific speeches about
how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and removing the passion in his patients contrast
with society s normal views. These rants, because they are in

  • 2. Operations Management Definition Operations Management Definition Introduction In today s fast paced ever changing business world, organizations must deal with many diverse issues. These issues range from maintaining their competitive edge in a fierce marketplace to social, ethical and concerns regarding the health and well being of their employees. The advent of new technologies has created organizational efficiencies however; it is a well known fact that healthcare has lagged behind other industries with regard to automation. Healthcare is being asked to provide high quality care with increased efficiency yet the patient population believes they are not receiving quality care. McCleave (1996) states that health care managers should look to manufacturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be accomplished by instituting processes to get patients in to see the respective provider in a timely manner, and addressing all of the issues in an individual encounter. McCleave (1996) documents other methods to increase productivity and quality in the healthcare setting. One would be to create an environment where the physician does only what he needs to do. This means that physicians need to shed duties that can be handled efficiently and in a cost effective manner by ancillary personnel, registered nurses or physician s assistants. Office efficiency is another area where improvements are possible. Processes should be evaluated as they relate to patient encounters and non value adding steps should be eliminated. When one considers all the aforementioned possibilities for increasing efficiency it is very likely healthcare will not only realize cost savings but will be able to provide quality healthcare to the patient population thereby reducing the possibility of patients returning to the office on an emergent basis. Conclusion Operations management is as stated by Henderson is an evolutionary position that is needed for healthcare to prosper. Healthcare it is in a state of enormous change and is faced with economic, regulatory, technological and consumer pressures that must be addressed in order for the industry to fulfill its mission. Operations management will play an integral role in healthcare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Plant Based Diet Essays A Plant Based Diet and its Ability to Support a 18 35 year old American | Philip Beckmann | Barbara Hiles Mesle 5/14/2012 | Introduction When I was growing up I was taught how to hunt, fish and trap animals for food as well as being fed an omnivorous diet, but today I have found that I no longer need animals in my diet. The Vegetarian Times recently found that out of the 311 million people in the US, 7.3 million eat a vegetarian based diet and 22.8 million eat a vegetarian inclined diet. Over the past century people have begun looking into the health implications of plant based diets as a way of improving their health and increase their longevity. This research paper is intended ... The downside to this form of carbohydrates is that they are most common in the form of refined sugars or refined flours which retain very few vitamins after being processed. ( HealthStyle Fitness ) As the body uses this form of glucose a cycle begins which involves fluctuations of high and low blood sugar. This cycle works when blood sugar rises after the consumption of simple carbs and then as the blood sugar begins to drop the body demands more simple carbs to bring blood sugar levels back to up. The cycle that is formed essentially keeps the body from burning body fat because there is a continuous demand and consumption of simple carbohydrates. The second form of carbohydrates is that of complex carbohydrates which consist of polysaccharides, three or more monosaccharides. These complex carbs are found in the form of starch, fiber and glycogen (animal starch). Those complex carbohydrates consumed in the form of starch are found in plant foods like corn, wheat, potatoes, cereals, pastas, and beans. When they are broken down these carbs allow for the slow production and release of glucose into the blood stream and allowing for a consistent blood sugar level. (Guthrie 27) Dietary fiber is another form of complex carbs which are present in plant foods because fiber is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Elie Wiesel s Research For the survivor who chooses to testify, it is clear: his duty is to bear witness for the dead and for the living. He has no right to deprive future generations of a past that belongs to our collective memory. To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time. Elie Wiesel, Night While Elie Wiesel is surely right in his statement, it is not the job of only holocaust survivors, but of all people, to make sure that the horror of the Holocaust are never forgotten. One part of the Holocaust, however, is often overlooked by the general public; The Nazi Medical experiments conducted on the prisoners of the concentration camps. Acknowledging the atrocity of these experiments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Take the High altitude experiment , also conducted a Dachau under Dr. Rascher, for example. In this experiment Rascher wanted to find the best way to save German pilots who ejected at high altitudes. Rascher had subjects put into low pressure chambers that simulated altitudes as high as 68,000 feet, and monitored their physiological response as they succumbed and died. (Tyson) If Rascher were testing for Pilot survival, he would no that the pressure would slowly increase, as the ejected pilot slowly parachuted down to the ground. Rascher, however, kept the pressure chamber at a set pressure, incorrectly representing how the human body would react to ejecting at high altitude. Furthermore, if the point of the experiment was to save pilots from high altitudes, why did they let some of the subjects die in the chamber? Shouldn t they be testing ways to revive them, rather than kill them? Even worse, to the subjects that survived the chamber, Rascher would perform vivisections, [dissecting] victims brains while they were still alive to show that high altitude sickness resulted from the formation of tiny air bubbles in the blood vessels of a certain part of the brain. (Tyson) The dissections of the brain to discover the formation of blood vessel could easily have been discovered in autopsy. Sure, this would require the subject to die, but at least they wouldn t have died by having their skull cracked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Shakespeare s Use of the Idea of Disguise in As You Like It Shakespeare uses the idea of disguise in many of his plays. It is used as an escape from the characters personalities and sometimes for comic effect. In As You Like it, the disguise becomes very comical as in the time it was written only men could act on stage. This could lead to much confusion and comedy in the roles of those in disguise. Disguise can give the freedom to a character to act how they like and a chance for them to show their views. It was in the 16th Century that there became an increased sense of self consciousness and identity. This led to people creating an image for themselves. If one can create a self, they can create many different versions of themselves each showing a different aspect of that person. This links in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As she is disguised as Ganymede, this is possible. She would not have been able to do this as a woman. When she is disguised as a man, more people listen to Ganymede. Although it is the same person, she can have much more say about her views and opinions when she is disguised as Ganymede. However, simply because her personality is not accepted as a woman, it does not mean that she is not presenting it. By showing that she enjoys watching the wrestling, she is revealing her true personality. She does not have to be disguised as a boy to do this. The disguise may show other aspects of the character s personality but it is still shown through their everyday person. Another point to make on this matter would be that the character of Rosalind would have been played by a male and the audience would know this. This could mean that the reason Shakespeare included Rosalind s enjoyment of manly sports was because Rosalind is actually a man in the attire of a woman. There is a large confusion of the gender of Rosalind throughout the play. By confusing the gender, Shakespeare is focusing more on the personality of Rosalind than her appearance. The question of gender is continued at the very end of the play. In many of his plays, Shakespeare ends with an epilogue read by a male character. In As You Like it, the epilogue is performed by Rosalind. The epilogue seems to be outside the play as if the actor was talking but Rosalind is still in character. She says herself; It is ... • 6. Electronic Medical Records Computer Based Medical Records Abstract In the medical field there have been a lot of technological advances and making health records electronic is one of them. The days of having a paper health record are almost obsolete. An electronic health record keeps a patient s medical information and history on a computer which is accessible to more people in less time. I will explain how the continuity, communication, coordination and accountability of the electronic health record can help the medical office. I will explain what can be included in the electronic health record. As an advocate of the electronic health record I will also explain some disadvantages to the electronic system. Computer Based Medical Records Electronic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the patients files should be backed up at least on a weekly basis to ensure that none of the information is lost. (HIPAA, 2011) Another way for accountability of the electronic health record is to have each person in the office has a key card or password to access the system. This will allow for the physician to check back and see if anyone is releasing information or making changes that are not authorized. This also allows for physicians to find out who made changes to a patients record if information is inaccurate. (HIPAA, 2011) Electronic Health Records will include the same information as the paper record. This includes basic patient information such as demographics, medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, radiology images, and billing information. (2006) Each individual doctor can specialize their system and what they want it to include. They can add different components to the electronic health record that are important to them and needed in their practice. (2006) Even though I am an advocate for the electronic health record there are drawbacks to the system. Each individual physician will have to determine if the drawbacks are worth the advantages of the system. One of the drawbacks to the system is privacy. Privacy will always be a big factor. Some patients may not like the idea of having their medical information easily accessible by almost anybody. (The HWN Team, 2009) Electronic health records ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Biography Of John B. Watson John B. Watson has been credited for founding the school of behaviourism in 1913, his now renown lecture given at Columbia University begun the official founding of behaviourism and he became well known for his Little Albert study that demonstrated how experience rearranged the stimuli that caused emotional responses such as fear, rage and love. Watson may have founded behaviourism but he paved the way for many individual functionalists such as Ivan Sechenov, Ivan Pavlov, and Vladimir Bechterev to make their own contributions to the broader field of psychology. So what is Behaviourism? Watson insisted that behaviour be psychology s subject of matter and that psychology s goal was to be the prediction and control of behaviour. ... Watson was not the only one to make a contribution to Behaviourism many came before and after him. Ivan Sechenov was the founder of Russian objective psychology (psychology that insists on studying only those things that are directly measurable) (Henley, 2014), he studied medicine and sought to explain all psychic phenomena on the basis of associationism and materialism, he strongly denied that thoughts cause behaviour, he insisted external stimulation causes all behaviour (Henley, 2014, p. 370). He also introduced the important concept of inhibition in his book Reflexes of the Brain. Ivan Petrovich Pavlov obtained his degree on natural science and medicine, and continued on to study physiology. His main interest was the digestive system, and his studies lead him to discover conditioned reflex. Pavlov realised conditioned reflexes could be explained by the associative principles of contiguity and frequency, organisms responded to the environment in terms of unconditioned and conditioned reflexes (Henley, 2014, p. 375). Vladimir Bechterev obtained his doctorate, and worked in the Psychic and Nervous Disease Department. In1904, Bechterev published an important paper titled Objective Psychology , he argued alongside with Sechenov and Pavlov for a completely objective psychology, but he directed his focus on the ... I am fascinated by the royal family so the Palace of Versailles is deemed suitable because it is the home of the monarchy of France. I began my virtual tour of the most famous room known as the Hall of Mirrors. As you walk through the room, you can see chandeliers after chandeliers lined the center of the ceiling and to the sides. The room is structured like a barrel vault with round arch windows symmetric to the mirrors reflecting the garden. Golden sculptures of women are placed in between the mirrors against the marble wall. The vaulted ceilings are covered with illustrations of the success of France painted by Le Brun. He also decorated the rooms so his artistic vision can be seen everywhere. My initial reaction of the room was that it is very elegant and magnificent. I ve never seen anything so spectacular before. • 11. Meaning Of If Poem Meaning If is a poem written by Rudyard Kipling in 1895 as a tribute to Leander Starr Jameson, but most importantly, it is arguably one of the best pieces of poetry to date. However, the writing is a classic ABAB format using iambic pentameters like the works of Shakespeare which has already been seen countless times before. The Elizabethan style sonnets that are included are only mildly dissimilar with the exclusion of a final couplet and the inclusion of some pentameters containing one extra unstressed syllable. If the poem structure is not of particular interest, what makes this work of art so exceptional? Kipling s application of repetition and personification effectively capture the reader s attention through vernacular terms while still exuding eloquence and fluidity. Coupled with the valuable advice from the poem s true meaning, If is nothing if not extraordinary. By simply glancing over the poem, the words you and if are incorporated roughly 33 times combined. More often than not, the two are at the beginning of lines in the format if you , creating the poem s signature anaphora. The word if implies there are cause and effect scenarios where the road to becoming a grown man is up to the readers choosing. Mary states that the novel was built off the happier times in her life, yet signs of negative feelings, anger and jealousy can be found throughout the novel. In the 18th century novel Frankenstein you can see many incidents where Mary Shelley s life was reflected into the writing. The novel itself was set in multiple locations such as Geneva and England. These settings have a connection to Mary Shelley s life. The novel begins with Geneva as the birth place of the protagonist. • 14. Narrative Unreliability in Martin Amis Money In Money: A Suicide Note Martin Amis describes the life of John Self, an extremely successful filmmaker of TV adverts who takes part in the materialist game characterising the society of the 1980s. The protagonist is addicted to the 20th century, where he leads a careless life based on a daily abundance of drugs, alcohol, promiscuous sex, handjobs and the porn industry. However, this addiction leaves its marks on the body and character of John Self. His physical as well as social health slowly deteriorate while Self is unable (and unwilling) to get off his never ending trip. For him life seems to be mainly a holiday, and a very expensive one indeed. Only far too late does he realise the dark sides of a lifestyle depending fully on money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, it is justified to claim that one of the reasons for John Self s own unreliability lies in the fact that he himself is sometimes not aware of certain aspects of the story. Therefore, it is only a logical consequence, and by no means part of Self s intention, that the reader is not properly informed about what is going on at several points of the novel. For example, the dubious existence of his antagonists Frank the Phone and the red haired woman who seems to follow Self almost everywhere are out of his own understanding. Consequently, he cannot offer the reader a plausible explanation for their motivation. In the end, it is the Martin Amis character of the novel, who sees through Fielding Goodney s insidious plot, identifies John Self s partner as being both Frank the Phone and the red haired woman and informs Self as well as the reader about his partner s real intentions. As a result of his own lack of knowledge, John Self is simply unable to grasp the real connection between certain elements of the story, and thus the readers have to figure out many things by themselves. Another incident, where John Self is rather clueless regarding the truth, is when it comes to his girlfriend Selina Street and her questionable faithfulness. Thanks to one of his friends, Self knows very early in the novel that she is cheating on him but he is simply unable to establish the identity of her new lover. • 15. The Issue Of Health Insurance Currently, the issue of health insurance has been a bone of contention for the public regarding whether the United States government should provide this health plan or not. People often possess different perspectives and refer to pros and cons on both sides of the spectrum. While some believes a universal healthcare system will set a foundation for a lower quality of service, increasing governmental finance deficit, and higher taxes, others do not hold the same thought. A universal healthcare system brings enormous advantages rather than disadvantages, such as all inclusive population coverage, convenient accessibility, low time cost, and affordable medical cost, all of which not only provide minimum insurance to the disadvantaged but also improve the efficiency of medical resources distribution. When it comes to the healthcare system, the root of it can be tracked back to the nineteenth century. At that time, compared to a private company, most of the service providers were hospitals, which provide a people free charge service and inexpensive medicine because they were not profit oriented institutions. To some degree, the expenditure of a household on healthcare at that time is lower than the one of a modern household. Hospitals played an important role in offering the disadvantaged healthcare resources and fundamental treatment. As the number of patients increased, they still needed working capital to support their expenditure. Most sources of money were from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Milky Way Introduction Our galaxy, The Milky Way, is composed of billion of stars of all ages, sizes and masses. A common stars, like our Sun, constantly gives out small amounts of X ray radiation, and larger burst of X rays during a solar flare. Along with our Sun, stars shine as a result of nuclear reaction that happens deep within their core. Causing chemical reactions that converts light elements into heavier ones and while releasing energy in the process. Energy from the central region provides pressure to keep the star from falling apart under its own weight. The contracting cloud is then called a protostar. A protostar is the earliest stage of a star s life. A star is born when the gas and dust from a nebula become so hot that nuclear fusion starts. Once a star has turned on it is known as a main sequence star. When a main sequence star begins to run out of hydrogen fuel, the star becomes a red giant or a red supergiant. The Birth of Star (Nebulas) All stars start as a nebula. Nebulas are large clouds of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases. Gravity then might pull the gas and dust in a nebula together. In example of this is the Orion Nebula, which was located in excellent detail by NASA s Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope. A protostar is formed from the contracting clouds deep within these clouds that gives rise to knots with sufficient mass that the gas and dust can begin to collapse under its own gravitational attraction (NASA, para.4). • 25. The Physics Behind The Electric Vehicle The Physics behind the Electric Vehicle It has been estimated that there will be approximately 1200 million motor vehicles by the year 2020. That is almost twice the number of cars that are already traveling on our busy roads. Due to this ever increasing vehicle population, the demand for fuel will continue to increase as well. With the depleting supply of oil already an issue for the U.S. especially, there is a growing interest in alternative energy fuels that can be used to power motor vehicles. Electric vehicles (EV) are one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly cars available at this point in time. By definition, an electric car is an automobile that is propelled by one or more electric motors, using electrical energy stored in rechargeable or another energy storage device. The electric motors used in these cars gives off instant torque, creating strong and smooth acceleration. Some of the models of EVs have an electric motor for each wheel. Having these four motors not only allows for better propulsion, but also for the use of braking and changing the kinetic energy back into chemical energy in the batteries. The traction that the car gets is also increased with each wheel driving. In some of the EV models the electric motors can be mounted directly inside the mounting for the wheel, which enables a loss of all the moving parts between the motor and the wheel. When there is no axle, differential, or transmission, the EVs have less drivetrain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An antigen is any substance that causes a response from the T cells or B cells; the binding site of the antigen is called an epitope. While helper T cells secrete cytokines to promote response, cytotoxic T cells employ toxic proteins to attack and kill cells infected by virus or pathogens from within the cell itself. ... • 34. Reflection Paper On My Writing Process Reflective Memo Description of my Writing Process In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular. The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience. But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases. My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible. Revising the Narrative Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It doesn t matter if somebody else over looks it, if it is important to you, then it matters. For me personally, the most important occasion that has happened in my life so far is when I learned about Tay Sachs disease. Tay Sachs disease is a rare, genetic disease that causes progressive loss of functions in infants. It is incredibly hard to earn a spot onto a team who is researching rare diseases, however, I believe if I try hard enough and do not give up I can make it. There is not a known cure or treatment and I believe I can find one. If I cannot make it onto a Tay Sacks research team, I plan on attempting to earn a spot onto a Cystic Fibrosis research team. As my third choice for genetic diseases to research, I would choose Parkinson s Disease or Canavan s Disease. I am a math major who loves physiology and helping people. This can potentially be an odd combination, however I love children and would do anything to help them. I have always loved helping people and this is a way that I can do that and potentially cure them at the same time. When treating these children, you are not just helping the children, you are also helping their families. These parents provide supportive care to their children and it a large emotional toll on the parents to watch their child die and know there is nothing they can do about it. It also an emotional toll on other family members; and especially the siblings of the child suffering from it. This is why I want to study this disease. The World Bank Water Global Practice s Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) recently released a working paper identifying findings that support new tactics for habit change in open defecation behavior. These advances draw from the fields of psychology, cognitive science, and behavioral science and were first outlined in the 2015 World Development Report (WDR) on Mind, Society, and Behavior. WDR presents new insight into how people make decisions: thinking automatically, thinking socially, and thinking with mental models, and highlights the potential of future policy approaches that influence behavior while forgoing the assumption of individuals as rational decision makers. Open Defecation in India Of the nearly one billion people across the globe who openly defecate, over half live in India. Despite meeting the 2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) for water access, India achieved only moderate progress in improvements to sanitation and reduction of open defecation. As of 2011, 49.8 percent of Indians still defecated in the open, and, although the number is decreasing, progress remains slow in rural areas of the country and significant gaps remain between the rich and poor. • 41. Importance Of A Lightbulb Moment A lightbulb moment. My writing process has officially kicked off with the lightbulb moment. This is the moment when the first line of my paper pops in my head or I have a sense of direction in where the paper is headed. I can depend on the fact that this will not happen by staring at a blinking cursor on a blank page. Some of my better lightbulb moments have been on the bus heading home or the second I get into bed to go to sleep that is why my mom always taught me to keep post its and a pen in my nightstand! I usually like to give myself at least a couple days to write my paper, edit the paper, and to make sure I have an effective mic drop at the end, as my English teacher last year said. However, seeing as I am starting this paper the night before it is due, I should also mention that I have no problem starting last minute if I know what I am going to say and essentially have the framework of a paper in my head. Within the masterfully crafted Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the past to play a major role in Gatsby s disillusionment. However, Gatsby s desire for success and to lead a prosperous life can be seen as early as his childhood with his schedule for success written on the back of his book. One of Gatsby s more positive qualities, as Fitzgerald subtly includes, is his drive and passion, and the past serves as a backbone for what he wishes to achieve. While such ambition can be a positive trait, Gatsby s crass materialism reflects poorly on his character. The fact that he purchased a grand house just to live near Daisy and that he no doubt spent millions of dollars in attempt to see her at one of his parties makes Gatsby seem shallow and extremely naive. Fitzgerald includes his nice shirts and large parties to emphasize his lust for wealth and success, desires that can be traced back to the success he saw in Dan Cody, the future he saw in Daisy and the potential he saw in himself. Fitzgerald most clearly uses this obsession with money and material to serve as an aspect of social satire seen in the book with the Jazz Age and the morals and obsessions that came with it. • 45. Huntington s Disease Study Huntington s disease, or HD, is a genetic neuro generative condition that is characterized by progressive dysfunction in motor, cognitive and behavioral abilities. There are about 4 10 cases per 100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes damage to neurons. The striatum of the brain and the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene but other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life although an early onset form can occur before the age of 20. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results showed that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to the control group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite suppressant, demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and absorption (Wang et al., 2014). Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in the body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a decrease in glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang et al., 2014). Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with Body Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin levels is usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular adipocyte function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington s disease. Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and showed erratic levels of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which is also supported by the increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD patients have a decreased ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels (Wang et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgment on the reader. The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him.
