I Support A Bill For Universal Pre Kindergarten Education
Community Psychology Final Exam
By: Kyle Dise
1. Would you support a bill for universal pre Kindergarten education? Draw on research discussed in
class and in your textbook to provide evidence for your perspective.
Education is an influential and impactful topic that is always a subject on the minds of the public and
for politicians. I believe that education would have an overall beneficial component because when
more people are educated in a book self and street self manner, they are more likely to be better
prepared for what the world has in store for them. So, I agree with James Heckman, the known Nobel
Price winning economist, who proposes that the earlier that kids are able to receive proper money to
obtain an education, the better return for giving back to the community and spreading efficiency in
those that they may interact with in the world (Smith, History of U.S. policies on child care, 2015).
So, even positive reinforcement, which has been learned in various psychology courses, comes into
play here (Mahoney, 2014; Smith, 2012 2015).
I understand that private preschools would be concerned with losing students because of a universal
program existing, but if they look at the big picture and ask themselves if they are bettering mankind
and the society as a whole by providing this service. However, I do see a problem with deciding who
will be paying for this universal education. I guess it depends on who is the president at the time
because he gets the

The Development Of The Athletic Type
The last two types of body build are the most logical and understanding of them all. The athletic type
is described as, [A] strong development of the skeleton...tall man, with particularly wide projecting
shoulders, superb chest, a firm stomach (Kretschmer 1925). This is very similar to the asthenic build
in which they also shared the same distinction of being long and tall. Some are also schizophrenic and
responsible for violent crimes. The development of the athletic type occurs throughout various ages, It
is apparent in the puberty period from about 18 years old onwards; with the maturing of the body
beyond 25 years old it become more plastic and more significant (Kretschmer 1925). When I think of
someone that has an athletic physique, I think of someone who works out or plays competitive sports.
With this idea in mind, it may be possible that those who do workout or compete in sports have a
higher aggression level which may lead to the types of behavior Kretschmer states. His description of
the athletic build is accurate and representative today. One body type that Kretschmer views as a small
group but I believe to be the majority of the population is the dysplastic type. He recognized that not
everyone can fit under one of the three basic body types. This is a combination of pyknic, asthenic,
and athletic, and their body type is both pyknic and asthenic. Kretschmer believed this type of
abnormal physique was found in, [D]ementia praecox and epileptic patients and

How Resources Within A Patient Centered Medical Home (...
Various elements influence how resources within a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) are
managed. PCMHs veer away from traditional episodic and often fragmented care to offer patients
higher quality care that is accessible, comprehensive, coordinated and more cost effective. PCMH
demonstration projects have shown that the model enhances health outcomes, reduces waste, and
improves patient and employee satisfaction alike. This transition, however presents significant
challenges and necessitates the restructuring of financial, material, and personnel resources within
primary care structures. Effective implementation of this model is contingent upon the procurement of
specialized staff, health information technology (HIT) systems, and possibly workspace
reconfiguration all of which can impact an organization s operating budget. Unfortunately, primary
care payment reforms as well as complex billing and coding guidelines pose a significant threat to the
financial viability of PCMHs and remain highly important factors to consider prior to undergoing this
transition. Despite many of these challenges, PCMH continues to be a leading model in primary care.
This paper presents a hypothetical PCMH implementation project and discusses some important
considerations related to the management of financial, material, and personal resources. Patient

The Picture Of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, And The Yellow
True Decadence It is vague, underrated, barely recognized, and yet it seems to have embedded itself
into movies, TV, video games, and most of all, literature. Decadence literally means the moral
decaying of society and has been a theme utilized in both writing and our modern media for decades,
even if it was not directly intended to be so. Literary works that helped establish this tendency include
The Picture of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, and The Yellow Book. Delving into the subject, it is easy
to conclude that such a theme is meant to present unconventional and sometimes controversial ideas in
a an overly romanticized way and express the author s perspective of such ideas that may influence the
reader into seeing the value, if any,

Shingle Essay
Varicella (chicken pox) and Herpes Zoster (shingles) are pathologies that in a sense go hand in hand;
you can t contract shingles until you have had Chicken pox. Anyone who has had chicken pox is not
guarantee to get shingles but is at risk as shingles is a painful localized recurrence of the skin rash, it
could reactivate or remain dormant. Starting from the beginning; Varicella or chicken pox is an
infectious disease that can be characterized by an itchy skin rash. The rash usually appears a few days
after exposure and can spread throughout the entire body accompanied with fever, fatigue, and flu like
symptoms. Each rash blister will dry out and form a scab which then falls off in the course of healing.

Analysis Of Good Times Bad Times By Ulrich Herbert
In this essay, Ulrich Herbert s article Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of the Third Reich, will be
discussed. This critique will focus on identifying Herbert s main argument and how effective he was at
executing that argument. Herbert concentrates on the seemingly strange view held by both working
class and middle class German citizens that the years during the Second World War were not actually
bad. He asserts that most people in Germany did not associate the Third Reich with murder and
terrorism, as is typical for people outside of Germany. Instead, these citizens saw the regime as being
beneficial, it provided steady work and a sense of structure and stability that had been lacking in the
years immediately following the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the times that he remembers most clearly. It was during the 1920s and he described it as
a difficult one. Work was not always easy to come by and his father had died, leaving him to provide
for his mother. The ability to vividly recall this point in time supports Herbert s claim that the harder
times were the ones that left the strongest impressions. Once Bromberg got married and began to have
children, his life became more stable and the details of this period are glossed over. Although this
period of time 1932 1934 was a turbulent one in the realm of politics, Bromberg had nothing to say
about it. He said that he had nothing to do with politics because he had no time for it between work,
family life, and church events. The period after 1934 is once again more turbulent. Bromberg was
moved from factory to factory due to the bombing raids. This section of time was recounted in great
detail, He [Bromberg] describes the individual stages of the evacuation of the works: ... (Bessel, p.
100). This section ends when Bromberg reports that he had found a flat in Essen and his life once
again became more stable. In this part of his interview, Bromberg had skipped over twelve years,
immediately jumping to his time of retirement after telling the interviewer about finding the flat.
Herbert divides the interviewees timelines into four phases: post World War I to the 1930s, a time

Essay on Theodore Kaczynski
I. Life Kaczynski was born on May 22, 1942 to Wanda and Theodore Kaczynski of Evergreen Park Ill,
a tidy and middle class suburb of Chicago. The second son Ted s brother, David was born in 1950. As
children, both kids were very reclusive, not playing with any neighbor children and rarely seen outside
of the house. At a young age Ted started to show signs of being a gifted learner, he skipped a year in
elementary school and his junior year in high school. Ted spent most of his early life studying math

The first bomb was found in 1978 up until the last bomb was discovered in 1995 a terrorism span of
17 years. The name unabomber was given to him during the 80 s because of his favorite targets being
universities and airlines. The investigation to find the unabomber was the largest and most expensive
at 17 years. The FBI were looking for a junkyard bomber it is said because of his contraptions made of
lamp cords, bits of pipe, recycled screws, and match heads. This is one reason why it took so long to
catch the terrorist, the bombs were made of untraceable elements. Like most terrorist bombers, the
unabomber had certain trademarks to his work, his contraptions were made on wood platforms with
more care given to the wood block, which was sanded smoothly, instead of the bomb itself. His cuts
were not straight or at 90 degree angles but each component was carefully numbered to make sure the
device would work correctly. Using his math and science skills he was able to fashion some new
devices never seen before. One such device was used on a bomb used on an airplane. The timing
device used was an altimeter designed to trigger the bomb when the plane reached a certain altitude.
In 1995 after he had been outdone by the Oklahoma City bombing, the unabomber started making
pranks and threats to taunt the FBI. One such letter described how busy he was working on dangerous
chemicals and another taunt threatened to blow up a Los Angeles Airliner. These

Child Development Explanations And Understanding
Child development explanations and understanding is a complicated process and it is hard deciding
the right process to use with each child. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking
how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of
human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also.
To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns
of ideas in their lesson planning for children.
Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best
interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the
idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their
strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of
the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to
different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. For children to
have the chance of becoming who and what they want, we must not put all of them in the same box,
this is to keep choice free in life. To summarize it definitely helps when you understand the great
philosophers and their processes.

The Changes the Obama Adminsitation Has Made in Foriegn...
The US has received criticisms due to its post 9/11 foreign policy. Its policy created shifts in alliances
and became a polarizing issue both domestically and internationally.
The US has had a significant shift since Barack Obama took office, moving away from the foreign
policy that was in place under George W. Bush.
Discuss the major changes the Obama administration made to US foreign policy.
Analyze these changes in the context of the international system level, state level, and individual level.
It is arguable that the Bush doctrine, in 2002, was a necessary evil. While it was a proclamation of the
right to self defense through pre emptive attack, it was not perceived that way by the majority of the

On an international level, the globe has breathed a sigh of relief at the forgoing of the Bush doctrine.
The United States has become more willing to work with intergovernmental and nongovernmental
organizations. After the 9/11 attacks, the Bush Administration created the Homeland Security Council.
Obama combined Homeland Security and the National Security Council into a single entity called the
National Security Staff. However, that does not mean that they have completely abandoned all former
policies or that the United States will not unilaterally take action when given a chance. President
Obama himself stated, I will not hesitate to use force, unilaterally if necessary, to protect the American
people of our vital interests whenever we are attacked or imminently threatened.
State wise, American citizens have rarely been concerned with foreign affairs of its own government.
The number one dissatisfaction is the seemingly never ending wars within the regions of the Middle
East that have begun since the Bush administration. Yet, because of the heightened sense of paranoia
still lingering from 9/11, citizens show a definite concern for how efficiently the intelligence
community of the United States government works. The fusing of

We Need an International Ban on Genetically Modified...
It s Time for an International Ban Genetically Modified Humans
If you could ensure that your future children would be healthy, would you? This is a trivial question
because most parents would stop at nothing to ensure that their children are healthy. Human germ line
engineering may soon make it possible to alter the genome of human embryos permanently changing
the genetic blueprint for every cell in an embryo s body. Through human germ line technology we
could eradicate many debilitating genetic diseases (e.g. Tay Sachs disease, cystic fibrosis etc.), prevent
cancer, and even increase the average life span. Human germ line engineering is prenatal and produces
genetically modified traits that can be passed along to subsequent ... Show more content on

However, researchers generally agree that germ line engineering will be possible within the next
twenty years (Rabino 153). When the technology does develop, the procedure for germ line
engineering will be similar to that of in vitro fertilization. For example, a couple wishes to have a
child, but they have reservations about naturally conceiving because both of their families have a
history of cystic fibrosis. They decide that the use of germ line engineering would be the best way for
them to ensure they produce a healthy child. First, the couple will go to a clinic and some of the man s
sperm and some of the woman s eggs will be harvested. These sex cells will then be taken to a
laboratory and in a Petri dish the man s sperm will be induced to fertilize the woman s eggs. These
fertilized eggs will then be allowed to develop up to the eight cell embryonic stage. At this point one
cell from each eight cell embryo will be removed for genetic testing (this does not cause significant
harm to the embryo s development because the cells are not yet differentiated into the different types
of tissue). If the genetic tests come out positive for the defective gene that causes cystic fibrosis, the
diseased embryos will undergo genetic surgery. In genetic surgery, through various intricate methods,
the defective gene is basically spliced out of the

Lauren: What made you choose counselling as a career path?
Carol: (Smiling and holding eye contact) Well, I actually started working as a social worker in
England. I studied for four years and did social care for eighteen years. Part of social care includes
counselling and I really enjoyed this part of the job so I enrolled in a counselling course to focus on
this field.
Lauren: (Nodding, keeping eye contact) Ah hah.
Carol: After I finished the course I started working in more counselling orientated environments and
after some experience, I decided to focus on counselling. Then I moved to Spain a six of years after
that and found the MABS Cancer Support Group. I have been here for two years now.
Lauren: So you found counselling to be more enjoyable for you? (Paraphrasing)
Carol: Yes, counselling gave me an opportunity to really focus on my clients. There are less people to

The Blizzard of 1888 and its Effect on Immigrants Essay
The Blizzard of 1888 tested how much the human spirit could take. Stacking problems on problems, it
was unforgiving to everybody in the area. Though the immigrants who came to the US all took
different paths and ended up settling in different places of the Great Plains, in the end they both went
through the same cold, unpredictable blizzard.
The Rollag family, originating from Norway, came to the US because her husband, Ole, was assigned
five years of military service, their farms were being reduced in size every generation, and for a better
life for their children. In Norway, the firstborn son has a much easier life because he is granted a

Eventually they chose to move to Yankton, which was in Dakota Territory, because letters from
previous Schweizer families would talk about the vast and healthy land and how they would help

problems, which were prairie fires, grasshoppers, and terrible weather. The Schweizers were victims
of devastating fires that caused a good amount of immigrated folk to lose their homes and the entire
luggage they had dragged with them from Ukraine. Unfortunately what the fires didn t destroy the

fences, wooden material, furniture, and even clothing. It was the weather that was the root of all the
problems that caused the fires and infestation, but it did more than that. The strong winds, disruptive
lightning storms, and the merciless droughts were things the European immigrants weren t prepared

services that became useless from the blizzard along with the surprising longevity of the storms. The

Deaf Culture Definition
Culture is a term that is not easily defined, not for lack of trying. When considering Deaf culture
however, it gets even more complex. One definition of Deaf culture by M.J. Bienvenu and Betty
Colonomos describe it as the values, languages, traditions, group norms, identities and rules of social
interaction of a group (Bienvenu, M.J. Colonomos, B. 1989). When first being taught about Deaf
culture, many people assume that things such as hand waving, foot stomping or flickering lights to
gain attention, or relying background information about a person when you first meet, are definitions
of Deaf culture. However, those are simply examples of group norms within Deaf culture, not the
culture as a whole. To reduce a culture down to only the norms of its people is greatly undervaluing it.
Culture is the whole of a people, regardless of what their norms or habits are. That being said, the
Deaf population is a part of a unique culture that values visual language, passed down traditions and
community.
Many Deaf individuals may be bi cultural and have experienced acculturation or enculturation.
Acculturation is the adaption of two or more cultures and adoption of bevioural patterns of the

The Transportation And Grocery Gaps Of San Diego
Listening to Sierra s answer, this customer s plight embodies the interconnectivity of the
transportation and grocery gaps that San Diego suffers from within areas in need. Though luckier than
most to have his own means of private transportation, this one particular customer was compelled to
drive a great distance to provide healthy juice for himself, a product that he would otherwise be
unexposed to without his car. As Gottlieb and Joshi highlight in their book Food Justice, the link
between the two aforementioned gaps grow wider and wider, feeding off each other and intensifying
the imbalances already existing (48). Therefore, an overabundance of fast food filled the gaps between
the market and the domestic areas, looking to attract high volume of in transit customers on busy
roadways, pushing nutrient food options further and further from dense urban population. As a result,
fast foods are purchased to conserve time, gas, and other expenses encountered to simply achieve a
journey to the grocery store. Even those stores that are nearby lack truly nutritious options, and
heavily advocate for non healthy diets to become daily habits over the wholesome alternative. Under
those circumstances, local markets like Stehly Farms are far from accessible to a great deal of the San
Diegan population. In reality, this customer possesses fortunate fundamentals such as knowledge,
transportation, and free time to frequent such a wonderful market and choose a healthier diet in short,

Dinosaur Extinction Research
Intro to question:
Their extinction occurred at the end of the Cretaceous period and is noted as one of the largest mass
extinctions in Earth s history and is referred to as the K T (Cretaceous Tertiary) extinction but is now
called the Cretaceous Paleogene (K Pg) event by many researchers. So from this information a
question has been derived, How effectively does the asteroid theory explain the extinction of
dinosaurs compared to other theories? A wide variety of extinction theories have been suggested and
some of the following examples have been evidentially thought wrong by many. Some examples of
the extinction theories are the toxic volcanic gasses and dust (Volcanism), asteroid impact on earth and
climate change. Some scientists have suggested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early to mid stages of the Cretaceous period the worlds temperatures became hotter by about
10°, some scientists have linked this to the Asteroid Impact theory. Others linked it to the volcanic
activity that is known today as India and Pakistan. The late Cretaceous period was a great time of
change, continents were splitting and volcanoes were spitting lots of gas and ash into the atmosphere
greatly altering climate. Whether it be gradual or sudden changes in climate dinosaurs habitats and
environment would have been affected making it harder for them to adapt. A sudden change may have
triggered a change in the weather thus affecting food sources. Gradual changes may have slowly
changed environments like cool wet areas into dry areas affecting life there in a big way.

Reasons For The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire had existed as a powerful force for over 1000 years. The Romans brought
prosperity, order, technological advances, and advanced military to the West. The empire which was
thought to run for several centuries would only be seen in the waning years as a Golden Age Empire
which could not hold itself in the end. The Roman Empire fell due to several reasons. Some reasons of
why Rome fell was due to Insubstantial Military, Economic Decrease, The Huns, Barbarian Tribes,
Full power of the Emperor, and Rise of The East Empire. An Empire which was taught to had
mastered its civilization had no way to let it s own people be the cause of one the most renowned
empires. How indeed did this mighty empire fall?
The Roman Empire fell due to many reasons and one of the main reasons due to why it collapsed was
due to insubstantial military. Insubstantial military was mainly caused by financial issues. The
government had not enough money to pay militants to work for their army. Many soldiers did not
receive their salary by cash as the state deducted food and clothing tax from their pay. To this decision,
a legionary on active campaign would hope to add the booty of war , from the bodies of their enemies
and as plunder from enemy settlements. Slaves could also be claimed from the prisoners of war and
divided amongst the legion for later sale, which would bring in a sizeable supplement to their regular
pay. In the late Roman Empire, it became increasingly difficult for

The Democratic Peace Theory
The democratic peace theory was not always seen as the substantial argument and significant
contribution to the field of International Relations that it is today. Prior to the 1970 s, it was the realist
and non realist thought that took preeminence in political theoretical thinking. Though the democratic
peace theory was first criticized for being inaccurate in its claim that democracy promotes peace and
as such democracies do not conflict with each other, trends, statistical data, reports have suggested and
proved that the democratic peace theory is in fact valid in its claim. Over the years having been
refined, developed and amended, it is now most significant in explaining modern politics and it is easy
to accept that there is indeed a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also different levels of analysis when it comes to the democratic peace theory. On one hand
the there is a dyadic which refers to democratic states have good and peaceful relations with other
democratic states while the opposite is true of their relations with non democratic states. Secondly
there is a monadic way of analyzing the democratic peace theory. In this case, democracies are
peaceful states overall and will only go into conflict with democratic or undemocratic states when
threatened or under attack.
Immanuel Kant s work is often said to be the starting point of the democratic peace theory. In his
essays, he proposes his peace plan by listing out six preliminary articles which he argued were steps
that had to be taken immediately. He also listed three definitive articles which included that the civil
constitution of every state should be republican, that the law of nations shall be founded on a
federation of free states and lastly that the law of world citizenship shall be limited to conditions of
universal hospitality, upon these, the foundation of peace could be built. Although Immanuel Kant
never mentioned democracy per say, his ideas were very similar to ideas that pertain to democracy. He
referred to republican states which were to be representative governments and where there was a
separation of powers.

BP has several weaknesses. Currently they are holding a large percentage of liability. Some of that
liability is due to the Gulf oil spill and the other is tied in the uncertain and sure to fail dealings to get
a foothold in the Russian oil market. Additionally, the Gulf oil spill has marred the reputation of BP to
the United States, BP s largest customer. This has resulted in dwindling sales and halts to new drilling
within the US and its waters. BP also has had a track record for cutting costs that have resulted in two
other large accidental spills only five years ealier. In 2005, a refinery in Texas caught fire and in 2006
a section of the Alaskan pipeline burst (Bryant, 2010). These events showed neglect on the part of BP
and lead to the record sized fine imposed on them.
In regards to opportunities, we see a progressive increase in the price of oil. Although there is an
obvious fluctuation in the price of oil from day to day, the overall trend is a defined increase in the

that is keenly perceptive of and responsive to issues of acculturation, values, identity, worldview,

Differences Between Chesapeake And New England Colonies
The origin of the Chesapeake and the New England regions was English. But, they re societies were
entirely different. Both regions had different intentions on why they were going to settle in the New

directions.
The social differences between these two regions were evident as time went on. Settlers coming to the
Chesapeake region were arriving in big numbers, but mostly in men. Not only did families tend to
move to New England, but whole congregations made the journey to find a place where they could set

The Wind in the Willows Essay
The Wind in the Willows
The Wind in the Willows (published in 1908) by Kenneth Grahame is a children s fictional novel set
in England during the early 20th century. This allegory from the stimulus booklet evokes feelings of
magic and adventure but also feelings of reflection as we relate the actions of Ratty, Mole and Toad to
our lives.Grahame evokes an imaginative journey within the mind of the reader as he questions Which
journey s do we take that we really want to experience? Kenneth Grahame conveys this idea through
Mole who is being forced to take Ratty s journey instead of his own. This text broadens our
understanding of the world today in that it helps us to undertsand the complex interactions between
people.

Camps, villages, town s cities . This vivid description of what he anticipates creates imagery in the
minds of the audience allowing them to enter the imaginative realm of Toads journey.
In this extract Kenneth Grahame creates exaggeration within the characters to effectively fuel the
imagination of the audience. The audience is sent on an imaginative journey as they picture the
different facial expressions, changing body language and personalities of the characters. For example
The rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pocket , cried the Toad, straddling and
expanding himself , said Toad imploringly , followed him eagerly etc. The reader can interprete the
nature and personality of the characters more precisely through exaggeration because they are able to
picture them in their imagination.
The use of exaggeration is effective as it allows the true nature of the character to be expressed in the
writing, for example said Toad imploringly illustrates how Toad is desperate and pleaing to Ratty,
however if the text only contained said Toad then the true nature of Toad would not be evoked in the
audiences imagination.
The Wind in the Willows uses the technique of anthropomorphism. This feature is visually appealing
to the audience as the animals seem less threatening and it sends the reader into a fantasy world full of
magical and adventurous thoughts. The audience can effectively engage with the human traits shown
by the

The Effects Of Classical Conditioning On Operant Conditioning
Abstract
Reinstatement is a phenomenon that describes the return of an extinguished response following
presentation of the US in classical conditioning (Bouton Nelson, 1998). This phenomenon is
dependent upon experimental context, as context promotes an association between the CS and US
(Bouton, 2004). A lever pressing response was trained in rats to study the context dependency of
extinction and reinstatement in operant conditioning. The current study demonstrates that
reinstatement occurs in operant conditioning, and remains context dependent, as reinstatement only
occurred when subjects were presented with a reinforcer following extinction and were kept in the
same context for all experimental phases.
Reinstatement of an Extinguished Response is Context Dependent in Operant Conditioning
Learning processes by which stimulus specific behaviours are developed have been studied in great
depth in recent psychological literature. One such process is that of classical conditioning; the
presentation of an unconditioned stimulus (US) e.g. food, with a conditioned stimulus (CS) e.g. a tone,
that will elicit a response (UR), e.g. salivation. Following repeated simultaneous exposure to the CS
and US, the subject will eventually exhibit a response (CR) in the presence of the CS alone (Bouton
Nelson, 1998). However, the behaviours learned during classical conditioning can be removed in the
extinction phenomenon; withdrawal of the US, so that a response to the CS is no

Analysis Of I Too By Langston Hughes
From freedom of speech, to freedom of religion, here in America, issues are also freed to hidden
behind the phrase freedom. The statement of freedom like free flowing words on the page of poem,
contains various definitions like different possible interpretations of a poem. While at the time for
Langston Hughes, his definition of freedom was chained by the pigment of his skin. As he
acknowledges his conflict with freedom while struggling against racism, Langston Hues in his poem I
Too, expresses how the issue of racism has been understated in America through the usage of euphony,
free verse and enjambment, depicting that the existence of freedom that was promised by America is
incomplete.
Through the usage of euphony, Hughes softly calls out the matter of racism, an issue is barely touched
on in America today. At the time I Too was written in 1925, this soft call depicts the fear and
suppression the darker brother (Hughes) of America faced. While the euphony created by the patterns
of the lines But I laugh/ And eat well,/ And grow strong (Hughes) portrays their nonviolent protest
against this untouched oppressive force of racism, today, the euphony behind the positive dictions
such as company (Hughes) in this poem presents the issue as if it is simply the difference between
ea[ting] in the kitchen or eating at the table. The usage of euphony depicts that the issue of racism is
easier said than done, for that the issue was never solved but only modernized. Hence, this parallel
emphasizes how understated the issue of racism is in America, while at the same time contradicting
the reality of the issue
In addition, because euphony is used throughout the poem, Hughes stresses that between the
difference of color, the same patriotic language is spoken, for that he too, sing America (Hughes) in
the same National Anthem in the same euphonious tone. However, the participation of this singing is
still has not euphoniously provide him a seat at the American table. By hiding him in the kitchen,
America hides racism in the kitchen, to create the look of a euphonious table as mocked by the way
this poem hides it behind its euphonious words.
To further echo the understated issue of racism, Hughes uses

been many different opinions about whether or not Elizabeth Quay is a good idea. In July of 2012, it
was found that 41% of the population of Perth was for Elizabeth Quay, while 36% did not think it was
a good idea. Interestingly, it was found that liberal and green supporters were more in favour of the
project than labor supporters. Many of those not in favour of the project believe that it does little for
Australian heritage and that it isn t worth the disruption of traffic that would be caused by the closing
of Riverside drive during the building period. It is also thought that many people in Perth are in fear of
change; that they want it to stay the same sleepy town that it had been in the past. But in opposition to
this, supporters of the project have rightly stated that Perth is the fastest growing city in Australia, and
change is inevitable to support all the requirements of a large population. Negative impact 2: The
appeal of the areas around the Elizabeth Quay development may have been affected due to noise,
pollution, smoke and dust in the air and increased traffic congestion. This could affect the businesses
around these areas as they may not have gotten as many customers. Also, buildings that used to be in

Preserving Historic District Conservation Project
A historic district or heritage district is a section of a city which contains older buildings considered
valuable for historical or architectural reasons. This definition first appeared in Athens Charter, 1933.
In China, any region that is classified as a historical district should contain a group of buildings that
have cultural heritage significance with relatively integrated exterior and structures. All of these
historic districts are cultural artifacts, and their stories are entwined with relevant human civilization.
Thus, for cultural heritage conservation, 99 National Historic and Culturally Famous Towns have been
promulgated by Chinese State Council in three groups since 1982. At the same time, different
provinces and autonomous regions have also issued their own list of Historical and Culturally Famous
communities. However, I considered that during the implementation of promoting historic district
conservation project, many people misunderstand the initial purpose and the process of restoration.
Therefore, huge numbers of cultural heritages were transformed to fake antique , and the cultural
heritage value of relevant places has been seriously diminished.
Currently, historic districts are seriously affected by urban modernization and commercialization.
During different parties are willing to take part in relevant conservation project, how to maintain a
balance between development and cultural heritage conservation has become one of most popular
issue in

Key Ideas Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a extended intellectual, philosophical, cultural, and social movement that
spread throughout England, France, Germany, and other parts of Europe during the 17th century. The
Enlightenment supported the idea that science and logic could make society better. Participants in the
movement were mostly educated intellectuals and philosophers. Before the Enlightenment, Europe
was in a time period called the Scientific Revolution. The Scientific Revolution was a time when
people like Nicolaus Copernicus began to question the church doctrine. When man developed the
Questioning Spirit , Europe began to discuss the key ideas of the Enlightenment: the social, political,
and economical aspects of life. This was the beginning of the Enlightenment.
First and foremost, the age of Enlightenment brought upon a great social impact. The Enlightenment
impacted society by introducing the idea that mankind could use reason to discover the laws of the
world and the rights of mankind. These ideas affected all groups of society, from politics to religion. It
also introduced to the world the concept of permissive economics and the benefits of limited
government intervention in the economy. Scholars argued that people become wealthy by making use
of available resources and letting the laws of supply and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One political effect of the Enlightenment was that some monarchs embraced new ideas from the
movement, since Enlightenment principles held that the people should be in control of their own
government. The Enlightenment thinkers argued against previous traditions ones that argued that kings
were selected by God and was God s spokesperson on Earth. , and called for individual freedoms,
governments of the people, and religious freedom. They were enlightened because they believed that
humans could answer questions for themselves, and sought ways to put this philosophy into

18 Lactic Acid Bacteria Lab Report
As described, eighteen lactic acid bacteria strains were screened by quantitative and qualitative
evaluation methods for biosurfactant production. The results of the qualitative assays (Table 2)
revealed that six strains (SHU6811, SHU1593, SHU1563, SHU3455, SHU1904 and SHU68) had the
ability to cause complete hemolysis (β hemolysis) in blood agar culture medium. In addition, five
strains (SHU6343, SHU1593, SHU3455, SHU1904 and SHU68) were detected positive by the oil
spreading and drop collapse assays. Also, two strains (SHU6811 and SHU1965) showed positive
results only in the drop collapse experiments. The results of the quantitative assays (Table 3) revealed
that %E24 values of extracted biosurfactant produced by strains SHU1593 and ... Show more content

Therefore, the hemolytic activity must be considered by oneself as an unreliable criterion to detect of
biosurfactant activity of a microbial culture [53]. The hemolytic activity of biosurfactants was first
discovered when Bernheimer and Avigad [7] reported that the biosurfactant produced by Bacillus
subtilis, surfactin, lysed red blood cells. Oil spreading method is based on that droplet of biosurfactant
containing solution can displace the oil and spread in the water. In drop collapse method, the droplets
contain biosurfactant spread or even collapse due to reduction of the force or interfacial tension
between the liquid droplet and the hydrophobic surface. The stability of droplets is dependent on
biosurfactant concentration and correlates with surface and interfacial tension [3,60]. In general, it was
shown that hemolytic activity test has a relatively clear relationship with the qualitative oil spreading
and drop collapse tests. Hamzah et al. [20] reported that quantitative analysis including emulsification
index and surface tension measurement are more reliable for detection of the presence of biosurfactant
in the medium by bacterial isolates. In emulsification assays, in order to create emulsion, the
biosurfactant must reduce the oil water interfacial tension to low values, also the biosurfactant must
rapidly diffuse to

The Scarlet Letter And The House Of Seven Gables
On July 4, 1805, while most people were celebrating Independence Day, one of the greatest influential
writers of the Dark Romanticism Era was born. Elizabeth Clark Hathorne and her husband Nathaniel
Hathorne Sr. gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know, this little infant would develop into one of
America s most famous authors of all time. Most Americans are familiar with his greatest works like
The Scarlet Letter and The House of Seven Gables. Through the influence of his past ancestors, his
dark childhood, his college experience, and his fellow author friends, Nathaniel Hathorne (Hawthorne)
is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism period which took place during the late
1800s.
Nathaniel Hathorne was born into the family of William Hathorne. William was one of the magistrates
who sentenced the Quaker women to death during the Salem Witch Trials He was born into a family
with a very strong Puritan heritage. As he grew up, he was ashamed to be related to the Hathorne
bloodline of William Hathorne. He was, as Hawthorne later characterized him, a bitter persecutor of
Quakers. In particular, was solely responsible for ordering the whipping of Ann Coleman. Hawthorne
refers to this ancestor as a persecutor of Quakers. Due to this, he eventually changed his last name by
adding a W to it. He did this in an attempt to conceal his relation to William. His heritage affects him
majorly throughout his entire life (Bloom 11; Nathaniel Hawthorne Web).

Real Estate Research Process
Introduction
Every individual whether they are aware of it or not, base their decision making on some form of
statistical data. Simple everyday decisions are made through rationalizing a problem or opportunity,
forming a hypothesis, analyzing information, and determining a decision based on the gathered
information. For the purpose of practicality, Team A has chosen real estate market data gathered from
the website for the Statistical Techniques in Business and Economics (2008) textbook to formulate and
define a chosen problem, attempt to delineate the purpose of the research into the variables that affect

In the case of the real estate data, the variables are the price, size, and the number of bedrooms in a
residence. These variables have physical measurements that can be easily verified.
Measurement Scale for Each Variable Accordingly, to test the hypothesis, the variables that will be
analyzed will be the selling price of the house, the square footage size of the house, and the number of
bedrooms of the house. These are the intervals encompassed in Team A s hypothesis. However, Team
A will also measure other variables connected to outcomes not stated in the hypothesis, such location
(for instance distance and time from house to center of town) and desirable amenities. To test the
above mentioned variables Team A will need to select specific measurement scales for them. The four
types of measurement scales are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. The depth of sophistication
increases as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale. In other words, the ratio and the
interval scales offer more detailed information on variables than do the ordinal and the nominal scales.
That is to say, as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale, one moves from the general to
the more specific, and the more specific information a scale yields, the more powerful it is. The more
powerful scales, provide the possibility of performing in depth, meaningful analysis so that more

Essay on Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In 1818 a novel was written that tingled people s minds and thrilled literary critics alike. Frankenstein
was an instant success and sold more copies than any book had before. The immediate success of the
book can be attributed to the spine tingling horror of the plot, and the strong embedded ethical
message. Although her name did not come originally attached to the text, Mary Shelley had written a
masterpiece that would live on for centuries.
Nearly 200 movies have been adapted from the text since the birth of Hollywood. Most recently
though (1994), is Kenneth Brannaugh s rendition entitled Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Although
Brannaugh makes a spectacular attempt to emulate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book is written as a frame narrative, but this sort of presentation is almost impossible to reproduce
on screen. Robert Walton s letters to his sister, and the monster s long autobiographical narratives were
both omitted from the film for this reason. A big asset to narrative voice is the reader acquires a more
thorough impression of the charter s thoughts and feelings. Without the use of this literary tool,
Brannaugh had to rearrange scenes, add dialect where there was none before, and depend on the
superb theatrical ability of the actors.
The movie starts off very true to the text with Walton s ship becoming logged in the ice in the arctic.
Despite some minor changes, the film follows the book pretty closely until the death of Frankenstein s
mother is described. In the novel, she contracts scarlet fever after caring for Elizabeth, and died
calmly...her countenance express[ing] affection even in death (Shelley, 72). In the movie, she
collapses while dancing with Victor, and soon after dies while giving birth to his brother William. This
scene is filled with screaming, blood and gruesome images as the mother dies in a fit of pain and
agony. Victor runs into his mother s room and is met by the site of her covered in blood and lain
strewn on a broken chair. He then proceeds to throw himself on top of her and cry bring her back, oh

  • 2. I Support A Bill For Universal Pre Kindergarten Education Community Psychology Final Exam By: Kyle Dise 1. Would you support a bill for universal pre Kindergarten education? Draw on research discussed in class and in your textbook to provide evidence for your perspective. Education is an influential and impactful topic that is always a subject on the minds of the public and for politicians. I believe that education would have an overall beneficial component because when more people are educated in a book self and street self manner, they are more likely to be better prepared for what the world has in store for them. So, I agree with James Heckman, the known Nobel Price winning economist, who proposes that the earlier that kids are able to receive proper money to obtain an education, the better return for giving back to the community and spreading efficiency in those that they may interact with in the world (Smith, History of U.S. policies on child care, 2015). So, even positive reinforcement, which has been learned in various psychology courses, comes into play here (Mahoney, 2014; Smith, 2012 2015). I understand that private preschools would be concerned with losing students because of a universal program existing, but if they look at the big picture and ask themselves if they are bettering mankind and the society as a whole by providing this service. However, I do see a problem with deciding who will be paying for this universal education. I guess it depends on who is the president at the time because he gets the ... • 3. The Development Of The Athletic Type The last two types of body build are the most logical and understanding of them all. The athletic type is described as, [A] strong development of the skeleton...tall man, with particularly wide projecting shoulders, superb chest, a firm stomach (Kretschmer 1925). This is very similar to the asthenic build in which they also shared the same distinction of being long and tall. Some are also schizophrenic and responsible for violent crimes. The development of the athletic type occurs throughout various ages, It is apparent in the puberty period from about 18 years old onwards; with the maturing of the body beyond 25 years old it become more plastic and more significant (Kretschmer 1925). When I think of someone that has an athletic physique, I think of someone who works out or plays competitive sports. With this idea in mind, it may be possible that those who do workout or compete in sports have a higher aggression level which may lead to the types of behavior Kretschmer states. His description of the athletic build is accurate and representative today. One body type that Kretschmer views as a small group but I believe to be the majority of the population is the dysplastic type. He recognized that not everyone can fit under one of the three basic body types. This is a combination of pyknic, asthenic, and athletic, and their body type is both pyknic and asthenic. Kretschmer believed this type of abnormal physique was found in, [D]ementia praecox and epileptic patients and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Resources Within A Patient Centered Medical Home (... Various elements influence how resources within a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) are managed. PCMHs veer away from traditional episodic and often fragmented care to offer patients higher quality care that is accessible, comprehensive, coordinated and more cost effective. PCMH demonstration projects have shown that the model enhances health outcomes, reduces waste, and improves patient and employee satisfaction alike. This transition, however presents significant challenges and necessitates the restructuring of financial, material, and personnel resources within primary care structures. Effective implementation of this model is contingent upon the procurement of specialized staff, health information technology (HIT) systems, and possibly workspace reconfiguration all of which can impact an organization s operating budget. Unfortunately, primary care payment reforms as well as complex billing and coding guidelines pose a significant threat to the financial viability of PCMHs and remain highly important factors to consider prior to undergoing this transition. Despite many of these challenges, PCMH continues to be a leading model in primary care. This paper presents a hypothetical PCMH implementation project and discusses some important considerations related to the management of financial, material, and personal resources. • 5. The Picture Of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, And The Yellow True Decadence It is vague, underrated, barely recognized, and yet it seems to have embedded itself into movies, TV, video games, and most of all, literature. Decadence literally means the moral decaying of society and has been a theme utilized in both writing and our modern media for decades, even if it was not directly intended to be so. Literary works that helped establish this tendency include The Picture of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, and The Yellow Book. Delving into the subject, it is easy to conclude that such a theme is meant to present unconventional and sometimes controversial ideas in a an overly romanticized way and express the author s perspective of such ideas that may influence the reader into seeing the value, if any, ... Anyone who has had chicken pox is not guarantee to get shingles but is at risk as shingles is a painful localized recurrence of the skin rash, it could reactivate or remain dormant. Starting from the beginning; Varicella or chicken pox is an infectious disease that can be characterized by an itchy skin rash. • 7. Analysis Of Good Times Bad Times By Ulrich Herbert In this essay, Ulrich Herbert s article Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of the Third Reich, will be discussed. This critique will focus on identifying Herbert s main argument and how effective he was at executing that argument. Herbert concentrates on the seemingly strange view held by both working class and middle class German citizens that the years during the Second World War were not actually bad. He asserts that most people in Germany did not associate the Third Reich with murder and terrorism, as is typical for people outside of Germany. Instead, these citizens saw the regime as being beneficial, it provided steady work and a sense of structure and stability that had been lacking in the years immediately following the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the times that he remembers most clearly. It was during the 1920s and he described it as a difficult one. Work was not always easy to come by and his father had died, leaving him to provide for his mother. The ability to vividly recall this point in time supports Herbert s claim that the harder times were the ones that left the strongest impressions. Once Bromberg got married and began to have children, his life became more stable and the details of this period are glossed over. Although this period of time 1932 1934 was a turbulent one in the realm of politics, Bromberg had nothing to say about it. He said that he had nothing to do with politics because he had no time for it between work, family life, and church events. The period after 1934 is once again more turbulent. Bromberg was moved from factory to factory due to the bombing raids. This section of time was recounted in great detail, He [Bromberg] describes the individual stages of the evacuation of the works: ... (Bessel, p. 100). This section ends when Bromberg reports that he had found a flat in Essen and his life once again became more stable. The investigation to find the unabomber was the largest and most expensive at 17 years. The FBI were looking for a junkyard bomber it is said because of his contraptions made of lamp cords, bits of pipe, recycled screws, and match heads. This is one reason why it took so long to catch the terrorist, the bombs were made of untraceable elements. Like most terrorist bombers, the unabomber had certain trademarks to his work, his contraptions were made on wood platforms with more care given to the wood block, which was sanded smoothly, instead of the bomb itself. His cuts were not straight or at 90 degree angles but each component was carefully numbered to make sure the device would work correctly. Using his math and science skills he was able to fashion some new devices never seen before. One such device was used on a bomb used on an airplane. The timing device used was an altimeter designed to trigger the bomb when the plane reached a certain altitude. In 1995 after he had been outdone by the Oklahoma City bombing, the unabomber started making pranks and threats to taunt the FBI. • 9. Child Development Explanations And Understanding Child development explanations and understanding is a complicated process and it is hard deciding the right process to use with each child. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also. To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns of ideas in their lesson planning for children. Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. For children to have the chance of becoming who and what they want, we must not put all of them in the same box, this is to keep choice free in life. To summarize it definitely helps when you understand the great philosophers and their processes. Theorist Jean Piaget, believed that individuals add and change their points of view of ... Obama combined Homeland Security and the National Security Council into a single entity called the National Security Staff. President Obama himself stated, I will not hesitate to use force, unilaterally if necessary, to protect the American people of our vital interests whenever we are attacked or imminently threatened. The number one dissatisfaction is the seemingly never ending wars within the regions of the Middle East that have begun since the Bush administration. It s Time for an International Ban Genetically Modified Humans If you could ensure that your future children would be healthy, would you? This is a trivial question because most parents would stop at nothing to ensure that their children are healthy. Human germ line engineering may soon make it possible to alter the genome of human embryos permanently changing the genetic blueprint for every cell in an embryo s body. However, researchers generally agree that germ line engineering will be possible within the next twenty years (Rabino 153). When the technology does develop, the procedure for germ line engineering will be similar to that of in vitro fertilization. For example, a couple wishes to have a child, but they have reservations about naturally conceiving because both of their families have a history of cystic fibrosis. They decide that the use of germ line engineering would be the best way for them to ensure they produce a healthy child. First, the couple will go to a clinic and some of the man s sperm and some of the woman s eggs will be harvested. These sex cells will then be taken to a laboratory and in a Petri dish the man s sperm will be induced to fertilize the woman s eggs. These fertilized eggs will then be allowed to develop up to the eight cell embryonic stage. At this point one cell from each eight cell embryo will be removed for genetic testing (this does not cause significant harm to the embryo s development because the cells are not yet differentiated into the different types of tissue). If the genetic tests come out positive for the defective gene that causes cystic fibrosis, the diseased embryos will undergo genetic surgery. Eventually they chose to move to Yankton, which was in Dakota Territory, because letters from previous Schweizer families would talk about the vast and healthy land and how they would help newcomers get settled. Both the Norwegians and Schweizers dealt with the same three common problems, which were prairie fires, grasshoppers, and terrible weather. The Schweizers were victims of devastating fires that caused a good amount of immigrated folk to lose their homes and the entire luggage they had dragged with them from Ukraine. Unfortunately what the fires didn t destroy the now extinct species of locust, Melanoplus spretus, would, and their eyes were mainly targeting the crops that took all summer long to grow. The Rollags were in the same boat witnessing grasshoppers go for more than just crops; after they were done feeding on the crops they would attempt to go after fences, wooden material, furniture, and even clothing. It was the weather that was the root of all the problems that caused the fires and infestation, but it did more than that. The strong winds, disruptive lightning storms, and the merciless droughts were things the European immigrants weren t prepared for. • 17. Deaf Culture Definition Culture is a term that is not easily defined, not for lack of trying. When considering Deaf culture however, it gets even more complex. One definition of Deaf culture by M.J. Bienvenu and Betty Colonomos describe it as the values, languages, traditions, group norms, identities and rules of social interaction of a group (Bienvenu, M.J. Colonomos, B. 1989). When first being taught about Deaf culture, many people assume that things such as hand waving, foot stomping or flickering lights to gain attention, or relying background information about a person when you first meet, are definitions of Deaf culture. However, those are simply examples of group norms within Deaf culture, not the culture as a whole. To reduce a culture down to only the norms of its people is greatly undervaluing it. Culture is the whole of a people, regardless of what their norms or habits are. That being said, the Deaf population is a part of a unique culture that values visual language, passed down traditions and community. Many Deaf individuals may be bi cultural and have experienced acculturation or enculturation. Acculturation is the adaption of two or more cultures and adoption of bevioural patterns of the surrounding culture and social confluences (Howard, Nigel. 2014). ... The Transportation And Grocery Gaps Of San Diego Listening to Sierra s answer, this customer s plight embodies the interconnectivity of the transportation and grocery gaps that San Diego suffers from within areas in need. Though luckier than most to have his own means of private transportation, this one particular customer was compelled to drive a great distance to provide healthy juice for himself, a product that he would otherwise be unexposed to without his car. As Gottlieb and Joshi highlight in their book Food Justice, the link between the two aforementioned gaps grow wider and wider, feeding off each other and intensifying the imbalances already existing (48). Therefore, an overabundance of fast food filled the gaps between the market and the domestic areas, looking to attract high volume of in transit customers on busy roadways, pushing nutrient food options further and further from dense urban population. As a result, fast foods are purchased to conserve time, gas, and other expenses encountered to simply achieve a journey to the grocery store. Even those stores that are nearby lack truly nutritious options, and heavily advocate for non healthy diets to become daily habits over the wholesome alternative. Under those circumstances, local markets like Stehly Farms are far from accessible to a great deal of the San Diegan population. So from this information a question has been derived, How effectively does the asteroid theory explain the extinction of dinosaurs compared to other theories? Whether it be gradual or sudden changes in climate dinosaurs habitats and environment would have been affected making it harder for them to adapt. A sudden change may have triggered a change in the weather thus affecting food sources. Gradual changes may have slowly changed environments like cool wet areas into dry areas affecting life there in a big way. An Empire which was taught to had mastered its civilization had no way to let it s own people be the cause of one the most renowned empires. How indeed did this mighty empire fall? The Roman Empire fell due to many reasons and one of the main reasons due to why it collapsed was due to insubstantial military. Insubstantial military was mainly caused by financial issues. The government had not enough money to pay militants to work for their army. Many soldiers did not receive their salary by cash as the state deducted food and clothing tax from their pay. To this decision, a legionary on active campaign would hope to add the booty of war , from the bodies of their enemies and as plunder from enemy settlements. Slaves could also be claimed from the prisoners of war and divided amongst the legion for later sale, which would bring in a sizeable supplement to their regular pay. For example The rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pocket , cried the Toad, straddling and expanding himself , said Toad imploringly , followed him eagerly etc. The reader can interprete the nature and personality of the characters more precisely through exaggeration because they are able to picture them in their imagination. The use of exaggeration is effective as it allows the true nature of the character to be expressed in the writing, for example said Toad imploringly illustrates how Toad is desperate and pleaing to Ratty, however if the text only contained said Toad then the true nature of Toad would not be evoked in the audiences imagination. • 35. The Effects Of Classical Conditioning On Operant Conditioning Abstract Reinstatement is a phenomenon that describes the return of an extinguished response following presentation of the US in classical conditioning (Bouton Nelson, 1998). This phenomenon is dependent upon experimental context, as context promotes an association between the CS and US (Bouton, 2004). A lever pressing response was trained in rats to study the context dependency of extinction and reinstatement in operant conditioning. The current study demonstrates that reinstatement occurs in operant conditioning, and remains context dependent, as reinstatement only occurred when subjects were presented with a reinforcer following extinction and were kept in the same context for all experimental phases. Reinstatement of an Extinguished Response is Context Dependent in Operant Conditioning Learning processes by which stimulus specific behaviours are developed have been studied in great depth in recent psychological literature. One such process is that of classical conditioning; the presentation of an unconditioned stimulus (US) e.g. food, with a conditioned stimulus (CS) e.g. a tone, that will elicit a response (UR), e.g. salivation. Following repeated simultaneous exposure to the CS and US, the subject will eventually exhibit a response (CR) in the presence of the CS alone (Bouton Nelson, 1998). However, the behaviours learned during classical conditioning can be removed in the extinction phenomenon; withdrawal of the US, so that a response to the CS is no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Goodeve, captivated by the volatility of unstable molecules and compounds, went on to research the severely understudied oxides of chlorine, and later, the oxides of sulfur. His studies included determining the heats of dissociation of Cl2O and ClO2 in a calorimeter and measuring vapour pressure. His research on oxides of sulfur focused on the oxidation of sulphurous acid solutions, and on the formation of sulphuric acid mists from water vapour and sulphur trioxide. Though a mechanism for removal of this mist was devised in the lab, it was not realistically applicable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Analysis Of I Too By Langston Hughes From freedom of speech, to freedom of religion, here in America, issues are also freed to hidden behind the phrase freedom. The statement of freedom like free flowing words on the page of poem, contains various definitions like different possible interpretations of a poem. While at the time for Langston Hughes, his definition of freedom was chained by the pigment of his skin. As he acknowledges his conflict with freedom while struggling against racism, Langston Hues in his poem I Too, expresses how the issue of racism has been understated in America through the usage of euphony, free verse and enjambment, depicting that the existence of freedom that was promised by America is incomplete. Through the usage of euphony, Hughes softly calls out the matter of racism, an issue is barely touched on in America today. At the time I Too was written in 1925, this soft call depicts the fear and suppression the darker brother (Hughes) of America faced. While the euphony created by the patterns of the lines But I laugh/ And eat well,/ And grow strong (Hughes) portrays their nonviolent protest against this untouched oppressive force of racism, today, the euphony behind the positive dictions such as company (Hughes) in this poem presents the issue as if it is simply the difference between ea[ting] in the kitchen or eating at the table. The usage of euphony depicts that the issue of racism is easier said than done, for that the issue was never solved but only modernized. Hence, this parallel emphasizes how understated the issue of racism is in America, while at the same time contradicting the reality of the issue In addition, because euphony is used throughout the poem, Hughes stresses that between the difference of color, the same patriotic language is spoken, for that he too, sing America (Hughes) in the same National Anthem in the same euphonious tone. However, the participation of this singing is still has not euphoniously provide him a seat at the American table. By hiding him in the kitchen, America hides racism in the kitchen, to create the look of a euphonious table as mocked by the way this poem hides it behind its euphonious words. To further echo the understated issue of racism, Hughes uses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Elizabeth Quay is located between barrack and Williams street and will cover 10 hectares of prime riverfront land. The inlet will be 2.7 hectares large. It is connected directly to, and extends an important north south city corridor that will make room for the main commercial, retail, transport, cultural, entertainment and education areas of the city. Elizabeth quay is located next to major tour destinations and public transport hubs including Supreme Court Gardens, Barrack Square and the Convention Exhibition Centre. There will be 400 new hotel rooms built in Elizabeth Quay which is necessary to accommodate the tourists that are expected to visit. Negative impact 1: Since the project was announced, there have been many different opinions about whether or not Elizabeth Quay is a good idea. In July of 2012, it was found that 41% of the population of Perth was for Elizabeth Quay, while 36% did not think it was a good idea. Interestingly, it was found that liberal and green supporters were more in favour of the project than labor supporters. Many of those not in favour of the project believe that it does little for Australian heritage and that it isn t worth the disruption of traffic that would be caused by the closing of Riverside drive during the building period. It is also thought that many people in Perth are in fear of change; that they want it to stay the same sleepy town that it had been in the past. But in opposition to this, supporters of the project have rightly stated that Perth is the fastest growing city in Australia, and change is inevitable to support all the requirements of a large population. Negative impact 2: The appeal of the areas around the Elizabeth Quay development may have been affected due to noise, pollution, smoke and dust in the air and increased traffic congestion. This could affect the businesses around these areas as they may not have gotten as many customers. Also, buildings that used to be in prime positions (facing the river) will have lost value due ... • 42. Preserving Historic District Conservation Project A historic district or heritage district is a section of a city which contains older buildings considered valuable for historical or architectural reasons. This definition first appeared in Athens Charter, 1933. In China, any region that is classified as a historical district should contain a group of buildings that have cultural heritage significance with relatively integrated exterior and structures. All of these historic districts are cultural artifacts, and their stories are entwined with relevant human civilization. Thus, for cultural heritage conservation, 99 National Historic and Culturally Famous Towns have been promulgated by Chinese State Council in three groups since 1982. At the same time, different provinces and autonomous regions have also issued their own list of Historical and Culturally Famous communities. However, I considered that during the implementation of promoting historic district conservation project, many people misunderstand the initial purpose and the process of restoration. Therefore, huge numbers of cultural heritages were transformed to fake antique , and the cultural heritage value of relevant places has been seriously diminished. Currently, historic districts are seriously affected by urban modernization and commercialization. During different parties are willing to take part in relevant conservation project, how to maintain a balance between development and cultural heritage conservation has become one of most popular issue in ... Before the Enlightenment, Europe was in a time period called the Scientific Revolution. The Scientific Revolution was a time when people like Nicolaus Copernicus began to question the church doctrine. When man developed the Questioning Spirit , Europe began to discuss the key ideas of the Enlightenment: the social, political, and economical aspects of life. This was the beginning of the Enlightenment. First and foremost, the age of Enlightenment brought upon a great social impact. The results of the qualitative assays (Table 2) revealed that six strains (SHU6811, SHU1593, SHU1563, SHU3455, SHU1904 and SHU68) had the ability to cause complete hemolysis (β hemolysis) in blood agar culture medium. In addition, five strains (SHU6343, SHU1593, SHU3455, SHU1904 and SHU68) were detected positive by the oil spreading and drop collapse assays. Also, two strains (SHU6811 and SHU1965) showed positive results only in the drop collapse experiments. Therefore, the hemolytic activity must be considered by oneself as an unreliable criterion to detect of biosurfactant activity of a microbial culture [53]. The hemolytic activity of biosurfactants was first discovered when Bernheimer and Avigad [7] reported that the biosurfactant produced by Bacillus subtilis, surfactin, lysed red blood cells. Oil spreading method is based on that droplet of biosurfactant containing solution can displace the oil and spread in the water. In drop collapse method, the droplets contain biosurfactant spread or even collapse due to reduction of the force or interfacial tension between the liquid droplet and the hydrophobic surface. The stability of droplets is dependent on biosurfactant concentration and correlates with surface and interfacial tension [3,60]. In general, it was shown that hemolytic activity test has a relatively clear relationship with the qualitative oil spreading and drop collapse tests. Hamzah et al. [20] reported that quantitative analysis including emulsification index and surface tension measurement are more reliable for detection of the presence of biosurfactant in the medium by bacterial isolates. In emulsification assays, in order to create emulsion, the biosurfactant must reduce the oil water interfacial tension to low values, also the biosurfactant must rapidly diffuse to ... • 47. The Scarlet Letter And The House Of Seven Gables On July 4, 1805, while most people were celebrating Independence Day, one of the greatest influential writers of the Dark Romanticism Era was born. Elizabeth Clark Hathorne and her husband Nathaniel Hathorne Sr. gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know, this little infant would develop into one of America s most famous authors of all time. Most Americans are familiar with his greatest works like The Scarlet Letter and The House of Seven Gables. Through the influence of his past ancestors, his dark childhood, his college experience, and his fellow author friends, Nathaniel Hathorne (Hawthorne) is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism period which took place during the late 1800s. Nathaniel Hathorne was born into the family of William Hathorne. William was one of the magistrates who sentenced the Quaker women to death during the Salem Witch Trials He was born into a family with a very strong Puritan heritage. As he grew up, he was ashamed to be related to the Hathorne bloodline of William Hathorne. He was, as Hawthorne later characterized him, a bitter persecutor of Quakers. In particular, was solely responsible for ordering the whipping of Ann Coleman. Hawthorne refers to this ancestor as a persecutor of Quakers. Due to this, he eventually changed his last name by adding a W to it. He did this in an attempt to conceal his relation to William. His heritage affects him majorly throughout his entire life (Bloom 11; Nathaniel Hawthorne Web). Nathaniel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of the real estate data, the variables are the price, size, and the number of bedrooms in a residence. These variables have physical measurements that can be easily verified. Measurement Scale for Each Variable Accordingly, to test the hypothesis, the variables that will be analyzed will be the selling price of the house, the square footage size of the house, and the number of bedrooms of the house. These are the intervals encompassed in Team A s hypothesis. However, Team A will also measure other variables connected to outcomes not stated in the hypothesis, such location (for instance distance and time from house to center of town) and desirable amenities. To test the above mentioned variables Team A will need to select specific measurement scales for them. The four types of measurement scales are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. The depth of sophistication increases as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale. In other words, the ratio and the interval scales offer more detailed information on variables than do the ordinal and the nominal scales. That is to say, as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale, one moves from the general to the more specific, and the more specific information a scale yields, the more powerful it is. The more powerful scales, provide the possibility of performing in depth, meaningful analysis so that more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without the use of this literary tool, Brannaugh had to rearrange scenes, add dialect where there was none before, and depend on the superb theatrical ability of the actors.
