The Growing Culture Of Athletics
Professor Henry
Senior Seminar
19 October 2015
Mini Review Draft Two
Introduction
The growing culture of athletics has exploded into more than that of just a sport. Collegiate and
professional American football has grown itself into a multi billion dollar industry with a fan base of
over 350 million people. As the game of football has grown and evolved, so has the demand for bigger
athletes. All positions have increased in size through the years, however one position has seen the
greatest increase in size. The average weight of an NFL offensive lineman today is 310 pounds. This is
an average increase of 50 pounds in 60 years. Teams and coaches are pushing for players to get larger
at a faster rate, primarily offensive lineman. The drawback with this philosophy is as the size of the
individual increases, as does the risk of health complications. However, size isn t the only concern for
these players that has recently has had light shed upon it, the process of playing a line position
(offensive or defensive) includes repeatedly taking head collisions against the opposing player. Recent
research has shown that this type of play, even while wearing protective headgear, is causing lasting
brain damage and head trauma. The purpose of this review is to examine the research that has been
conducted on the negative health effects associated with playing the offensive lineman position at the
collegiate and professional level. Also, why these conditions are arising and what the

The Decline Of Alcoholic Beverages
The earliest alcoholic beverages may have been made from berries or and winemaking may have
originated in the wild grape regions of the Middle East. (Hanson, 1995). A variety of alcoholic
beverages have been used in China since prehistoric times China perceived alcohol as spiritual food
rather than a material food (Hanson, 1995). From the earliest recorded use of alcohol, drinking has
been a social activity, and both consumption and behavior have been subject to self imposed social
controls. The future of children who grow up in alcoholic families. (1) The term Adult Children of
Alcoholics also referred to as ACA s has become more popular in the psychology /mental health
world. The term also can be called Adult children of dysfunctional families (ACDF s) which means a
person/people who have lived in such dysfunction. People who have grown up in dysfunctional
families are put in a group to easily identify them. (2) Alcohol problems don t just hurt the drinker.
According to NIAAA, more than half of Americans have at least one close relative with a drinking
problem. Spouses and children of heavy drinkers are more likely to face family violence; children are
more likely to suffer physical and sexual abuse and neglect and to develop psychological problems.
Women who drink during pregnancy run a serious risk of damaging their fetuses. Relatives and friends
can be killed or injured in alcohol related accidents and assaults (Association, 2007). For many

The Moral Issue Of Vivisection
Paige Simone English Research Skills Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories
and are called medical research. ~George Bernard Shaw (1856 1950) Introduction The everyday
products we use such as toothpaste, makeup, and medicines have more than likely been tested on an
animal in a laboratory before being available for human consumption. These animals suffer greatly
and live lives of isolation and torture. They endure cruel treatment all in the name of scientific
research. Many people believe that these tests are necessary to discover cures for human illnesses.
This is simply not the case. There is a large amount of research that indicates that animal experiments
often lacks validity and do not stand up when transferred to human beings. In addition, the moral issue
of vivisection is one that we must all struggle with as human beings. Mohandas Gandhi said I abhor
vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of
no consequence. and To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I
should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more
helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man. Scientists
and all human beings alike have an obligation to develop alternative methods of testing drugs and
products that do not harm animals. Paige Simone English Research Skills

President Roosevelt s Response To The Great Depression
Imagine all of a sudden being out of a job and becoming bankrupt, and your country going into a
depression. In 1929 until the late 1930 s the Great Depression took place and many countries were
affected by it, the Great Depression was an economic depression. The cause of the Great depression
was the crash of the Stock Market in 1929. The Great Depression affected the US in a way that
increased unemployment by 25% and increased the amount of homeless people. In this essay I will be
analyzing the responses of President Franklin Roosevelt s administration to the problems of the Great
Depression. I will also be talking about how effective these responses were, and how they changed the
role of the federal government. I believe that the responses to the Great Depression were very
effective in bringing the country out of the Great Depression. The reason I believe that President
Roosevelt s response to the Great Depression was very effective was because of economic measures
that he took. These measures were known as The New Deal, which were designed to help bring our
country out of the depression we were facing. Some of the things that were enacted in the New Deal,
were the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Social Security Act, the Civil Works Administration, the
enacting of the Emergency Banking Act and the rejuvenation of the Farm Credit Act. All of these
corporations and acts were made to help create jobs and rebuild the Stock Market. Some of the

Funeral Oration And Pericles Speech
Cyril Klutse
4th October,2017
7am Class
While everyone has their own opinion, and is more than entitled to share it, other s beliefs and
thoughts influence most people. Politics and opinions of leaders on the way in which a country must
govern are often easy portals to access an impressionable mind. Throughout history, those with
opposing viewpoints on democracy have often spoke up and shared their opinions with the world in
hopes of being heard. Aristotle, Pericles and Xenophon have each taken a turn in doing so, and made
their feelings obvious to the people. All opinions were very different; Aristotle s being more of an
open minded approach towards democracy (not completely dismissing the idea of it), Pericles being in
total agreement with it, and Xenophon being sarcastic and exceptionally opposed.
In Pericles Funeral Oration , he speaks strongly in favor of a democratic nation and talks about how
and why that s important. He specifically mentions that personal freedoms are allowed because of
their democratic way of life, but also conveys the point that while the people were free to live for
themselves, they chose to live for one another as well, and all hoped to better the city as a positively
functioning society. Throughout the address he praises Athenians, their military, and explains to the
people how their system of government was to responsible for their success and that it set them apart
from other nations. His belief in Democracy was understandable and holds in a similar way today by
many people. But while democracy does help immensely with the formation of a nation, Pericles did
not discuss that none of the positive attributes stemming from democracy would be possible without
the positive actions of his people, with or without it. He didn t necessarily give credit where credit was
due, however, he did seem to be on the right track with what would hopefully grow to be the best form
of government and for the right reasons; people choosing to live for each other in a positive way is just
as important (if not more) than people choosing to live rightly for themselves.
Aristotle s view on democracy is much different from Pericles in that while Pericles preached of how
each man was both a citizen

Alternative Energy Sources Essay
Imagine a world where nobody can use their iPhone, their computer, or even turn on the lights. That is
the kind of world the future may be like if there is not an overhaul of how electricity is obtained. Ever
since the Industrial Revolution, people have utilized fossil fuels to power their homes, cars, and
businesses. Unfortunately, our stores of fossil fuels are running low, and they have been demonstrated
to increase the temperature in the atmosphere and accelerate global warming. As gas prices steadily
rise, people need a newer, cleaner source of energy. The alternatives are numerous and would be
beneficial to the well being of the whole world. The human race must replace its fossil fuel use with
renewable resources in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the proven sources of oil will be depleted by the year 2055 according to Erika Antoniazzo, a
woman who is well read in terms of oil production.(eco info.net) On the other hand, renewable
resources can never be depleted. There will always be wind that can blow turbines. There will always
be a sun to heat solar panels. There will always be water to run through dams. The power that can be
drawn from these sources is limitless, which is obviously more sustainable than fossil fuels, which
clearly has a limit. Scientists are developing technology in the field of nuclear fusion (the process in
which the sun creates its energy), which if obtained will provide an infinite amount of power. These
alternative sources of energy will provide energy for the world until the end of time. The government
has been greatly influenced by big oil companies lobbying for political power. No single group should
have such a large amount of power over the government. If our focus on fossil fuels is shifted over to
a more general scope that includes various renewable energy sources, then no single group of
companies will have a significant amount of power in the direction of the country. Since oil companies
have an iron grip on decisions the U.S. makes, we have gone to several wars over the pursuit of oil.
General Zilmer stated that the amount of casualties can be reduced greatly if troops could move away
from their use of fossil fuels.(News Observer) These wars would

Spina Brifida
Throughout my research on individuals with Spina Bifida, I highlighted the effects of Spina Bifida on
a person. My research showed me that when someone has Spina Bifida, they can live a normal life just
like anyone else, with a few adaptations to their daily life. Other research showed me that life with
Spina Bifida can be dramatically different than someone without this disease. I used evidence from the
Mayo Clinic, My Child Without Limits, and other Children s Hospital s doctors. I am also defending
the side of the argument that believes women should not abort their babies if they have Spina Bifida. I
think that women should not be allowed to abort their children because they have a disability. As a

Unlike other diseases, Spina Bifida is a disease that cannot be cured with a drug or surgery. There is
not a current cure for Spina Bifida, but there are ways of making the symptoms more endurable. If the
child has Myelomeningocele, soon after birth, the child will most likely need surgery. The baby is at
high risk of infection, so according to Seattle Children s Hospital, Because part of your baby s spinal
cord area is exposed, your baby is at risk of getting an infection or having more damage to the spinal
cord. To lessen the risk, our neurosurgeons will operate within your baby s first 24 to 48 hours of life (
Myelomeningocele, 2016). The surgeon will cover the spinal cord and closes the muscles around the
muscle cord. Lastly, they close the skin to cover the spine. If the baby has hydrocephalus, which is
when there is too much cerebrospinal fluid in the head and a shunt may be required to drain the fluid (

need physical therapy. The Seattle Children s Hospital states, Some may need aids like braces,

John Robin Williams Death
In August 2014, the world was shocked when the news of Robin Williams death was reported by the
media. At first, people thought that it was just another hoax; rumors of celebrities dying had been
making its rounds on the internet, only to be shut down by the representatives of those celebrities. The
world was forced to face the truth when Williams family confirmed that he, indeed, had died. Police
have confirmed that Williams took his own life by hanging himself in his home. As days passed,
reports that Williams was suffering from depression before he took his own life came to light. Many
people found it hard to believe since Robin Williams always drove people to tears of laughter and joy.
During that time, people cried because of the loss of one of the greatest comedians of all time. Robin
Williams is one of the many people who have taken their lives because of depression, which is one of
the most common psychiatric disorders in today s society. Because of this, doctors and scientists have
developed ways to battle this illness. One of those ways is using antidepressant medications.
Unfortunately, there are people who refuse to take them. Why? Some are afraid to take these
medications on fear of being dependent and addicted to them while some people believe that
antidepressants are just a waste of money and that they are not actually effective. Some argue that
antidepressants make the depression worse and can cause violent behavior. In extreme cases, a few

Essay On Mama Joad In The Grapes Of Wrath
Mama Joad has proven herself to be one of the most involved and caring characters throughout the
The Grapes of Wrath written by John Steinbeck. Mama a woman who holds her family together and is
constantly showing her strengths. Even Pa noticed the authority that Mama showed. She is an example
of a strong mom that every family would hope to have. Within the Church, there are seven Catholic
Social Justice Teachings, which include: the life and dignity of the human person; call to family,
community, and participation; rights and responsibilities; option for the poor and vulnerable; the
dignity of work and the rights for workers; solidarity; and care for God s creation. A person who
exemplifies the above characteristics is someone who is attempting to lead the best life that they
possibly can. Mama Joad is a major character who lives by the seven tenets of Catholic Social Justice
Teaching, especially call to family, rights and responsibilities, and solidarity. Throughout the story, Ma
continues to show her love for her family, and follows Catholic Social Justice Teaching of call to
family, community, and participation. Ma portrays her call to family the most. While the Joads were
struggling to find gas money, a place to live, and suffering through the sadness of Grandpa s death,
She walked for the family and held her head straight up for the family (ch 13). Ma was able to hold

Crack s Effect on New York City
In the summer of 1985, New York City was introduced to the drug crack. The ensuing seventeen years
have culminated into some of the most turbulent, and crime ridden years in the history of New York
City. Crack is the street name for a form of cocaine introduced in the mid 1980s. Crack is smoked,
rather then sniffed through the nose, or injected, which are all other ways to use cocaine. Users of the
drug inhale the vapors that are given off when the crack is heated (Berger pg.20). Crack cannot burn,
and in order to give off the drugs vapors it must be heated to a very high temperature. After the crack
has been heated the user will proceed to inhale the vapors. The drug will then pass ... Show more

Medical Center often describes crack addicts, often called crack heads as follows, They first start to
suffer personality changes especially paranoia, then their lives start to fall apart, along with their
relationships and they move into a life of emotional extremes, crime, illness, and possibly death.
Crack users range from the Wall Street stockbroker to a homeless person living in Central Park, but by
and large this evil drug called crack had its biggest impact on New York s inner city minority
population. A New York doctor, Dr. Mark Gold who is the person who set up and helps run the not for

questions about the drug and also offers counseling and drug intervention services; suggested that his
findings showed that, occasional users of crack quickly increased, the amount and frequency of crack
use until total dependency was achieved. Men and women who were once law abiding citizens and
honest people were now robbing and stealing to pay for the drug, and many who once enjoyed good
health were now suffering from a variety of physical and mental aliments springing from their cocaine
abuse. Crack brings along with its amazing high, some ominous dangers. Dr. Robert Maslansky is the

Why Do Neanderthals
Could neanderthals have influenced our language, writing ability, and spiritual practices? I think so.
Genetic research shows that our DNA can contain up to 4% of neanderthal genetics. Comparing the
neanderthal eye sockets to our own shows that neanderthals sockets were larger. Perhaps this means
that they were more nocturnal than modern man. I can t help thinking about the vast amount of
pyramids across the world, and how some are designated as pyramids of the sun, and some as
pyramids of the moon. Could moon worship have originated in ancient modern man from the
influence of our ancestors the possibly nocturnal neanderthals? What about the pyramids of the sun?
Maybe this sun worship came from our cro magnon ancestors with eyes more similar in size to our
own. Our smaller eyes make it more difficult to see in the dark. As I ponder about this, I think it
relevant to mention that the moon is usually associated with female deities such as Luna,
Diana, Artemis, Selene, and many, many more. Who were the predecessor deities of these already
ancient goddesses? Maybe they were influenced by the goddesses that neanderthals worshipped. I
wonder if neanderthals saw the female as divine above male. The moon gives off a softer, loving light

Sol sounds like soul, so could the soul of man be comparable to the sun and the moon? What about
King Solomon. Sol (soul)(sun) , Mon (moon) (man), so could this equate to the king of the soul of

are discussions now about whether or not neanderthals made picture art. Well, why wouldn t they. We
know that they made jewelry, and that they buried their dead with flowers. This is proof of complex
thought patterns. It can easily be speculated that the burial of the dead with flowers was the
neanderthal s way of dealing with death, and possibly their hope for some spring renewal

stories are written by two different authors namely, E.B White and Welty respectively. The purpose of
this paper is to analyze and explain the stories and also compare them in order to enhance the value of
this paper. The comparison of both the stories will be in the form of analysis in which the similarities
and differences will be discussed. More importantly, the paper will be shedding light on the hidden

reader must take away after reading these epic stories of the authors childhoods. Once more to the

character of the story basically wants to travel back to his childhood so that he can spend his life freely

childhood memories more than he owns his responsibilities. The most prominent of his childhood
memories is the lake that he used to visit with his father during his childhood. In the story he plans to

Essay about Martin Luther s Impact on Germany
Martin Luther s Impact on Germany
Although we remember Luther as the great thinker who sparked the reformation with his
revolutionary ideas , it would be unfair to not acknowledge that Luther was the first to form these new
ideas. Many attempts at reform had been attempted prior to Luther, led by heresies such as John
Wycliffe, John Hus et al. In fact, during the course of Christianity there has been resistance and
dissent, attempts at reform. Fortunately for Luther, when he made his idea and theses public, the
German or rather Holy Roman Empire was in such a state that made conditions very well suited for
the acceptance and spread of his words. The conditions that I speak of can be mostly ... Show more

Luther s message was particularly successful in spreading and sustaining due to its flexibility. Luther
purposeful made it so, adapting it to different audiences. The finer points were understood by the
literate types in the larger cities and the rural communities picked up on beneficial points to them and
the portrayal of a corrupt papacy. The agreement between the literate and illiterate shows just how
flexible his message was.
Religion was the main subject of Luther s ideas and teachings, his disgust at indulgence selling
sparking him of to try and start a reform. The church and clergy were seen as being very corrupt at all
levels, and were with held in little respect by many. Indulgences were sold to the laity, denouncing
their sins with a word from the pope. These were not cheap and not available to many save the rich
who could afford them. This did not please many, believing it was unfair that they would have to
spend more time in purgatory just for being materially less well off. Much of the money from
indulgence selling went to Albert of Mainz, and was used to fuel yet more corruption, such as bribery
prior elections and concubinage, breaking the clergies rules of chastity. This corruption was
widespread and present at all levels of the clergy,

Rites Of Passage In The Japanese Community

perspective. Crapo (2013) defines emic, an insider s or native s meaningful account may be written for
outsiders but portrays a culture and its meanings as the insider under¬stands it. Exploring the Japanese
community from an emic perspective takes dedication and understandings. The Japanese community
has a wide variety of ceremonies that are practiced both in America and Japan. Some traditional

In the article of rites of passage, by Tsuji (2011) he discusses how Japan culture goes through different
rituals when reaching the point of death and afterlife compared to the United States. When one speaks
of old age in the United States, it refers to an individual who is ready to retire or close to passing
away. In recent research, some typical behaviors upon reaching this milestone are when a person
moves into a senior living capacity, the use of hearing aids, and one might even give up driving. On
the other hand, Japan s culture is different when referring to celebrations and old age. The rites of
passage rituals for those getting old start as early as sixty years old. The reason Japanese celebrate his
or her sixtieth birthday is that many did not survive longer than his or her sixtieth birthday. In addition
to Japanese culture of old age, they also celebrate auspicious birthdays. This tradition is a sequence of
celebrations that occurs different time throughout his or her lifetime. The Japanese reflect back on the
person s life for which they have lived. Another critical fact is that these birthday celebrations were
known to guide death within rites of passage. The rites of passage continue beyond death into the
afterlife with the tradition of worshiping the ancestors. Some of the cultures of the Japanese afterlife
include the offering of tea, flowers, and rice to

Essay Jane Austen
Jane Austen
6. How does Mansfield Park interrogate the relationship of power and gender?
Mansfield Park by Jane Austen is a classic realist text, which is almost exclusively focused on a small
strip of society, namely the upper middle class of rural England; the class to which she herself
belonged. Throughout her novel, Austen portrays the disadvantaged position of woman, presenting the
issues of gender stereotyping and marriage choice as the main problems they have to confront. Gender
came to be seen as a construct of society, designed to facilitate the smooth running of society to the
advantage of men 1, proving that men gained power throughout the socially constructed subordination
of woman.

Fanny s weak position is shown through the punctuation and structure of her sentences, as she often
begins to protest, but then breaks off at a dash, unable to continue. This contrasts with the clarity of Sir
Thomas s speech, in which he conveys a tone of certainty and finality, whilst speaking with ease. He is
confident, and sure of his thoughts; so sure in fact, that he tries to impose them on Fanny, and will use
any kind of pressure or cruelty to force her to comply with his decision that she should marry.
Sir Thomas trying to persuade Fanny to marry emphasises the fact that Austen s novels operate around
the framework of love, marriage and money. Many of the characters believe that there is no future
development open to women of their class but marriage and the upbringing of children, making Fanny
seem extremely unusual when she turns down Henry s offer. This relates to the Marxist view that
dominant visible forms taken by modes of physical and social reproduction through history have been
family and kinship structures 2, which utilises the gender positions of male power and female
subservience. Austen uses words such as career , to reminds us that marriage was a woman s
livelihood, her career in the sense that it was her life s work, and that she would grab any marriage
that had good financial prospects.
In the society and culture that Austen depicts, the male is regarded as the norm, as the central position
from which the female is

Violence In Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock s, Psycho, is a black and white psycho horror film with gothic influences, set in the
cities of Phoenix, Arizona and Fairvale, California. It was released in 1960 and at the time was
extremely groundbreaking in terms of the violence and sadistic nature of the film. Before Psycho was

Hitchcock s film changed the horror genre and even created its own sub genre in psycho horror. The
film stars Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, Vera miles as Lila Crane,

Anger In His Sermon On The Mount
Anger
Anger is the very first sin that Jesus preached about in His Sermon on the Mount. You have heard that
it was said to those of old, You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the
judgment. But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of
the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, Raca! Shall be in danger of the council. But whoever
says, You fool! shall be in danger of hell fire. (Matt. 5:21 22) Raca is a strong word, which expresses
contempt. The word fool is a lighter word and is used of a person who lacks good sense.
Gregory the Great included anger in his list of seven deadly sins. Of course, every sin is deadly, but,
perhaps because anger is so

Rhetorical Analysis Of Miss Representation
Rhetorical Analysis of Miss Representation
Jennifer Siebel Newsom s documentary, Miss Representation, shows that the media s impact on the
American discourse of women s bodies, women in power, and the same standards of what women
should be. Newsom effectively convinces the audience of Miss Representation that how mainstream
media contributes to the misrepresentation of women in influential positions by having limited
portrayals of women through the use of interviews from influential people, several statistics, and
appealing to emotional sense. Newsom clearly explains how the media portrays gender bias and
stereotypes in TV, films, and advertisements through the use of interviews from influential people.

Shakespeare Movie vs Play
Shakespeare s Othello: Movie (Oliver parker 1995) Vs. Play
Oliver parker s Othello came out in 1995 with Laurence Fishburne as Othello this is also the first time
Othello was played by a coloured actor, Kenneth Branagh as Iago and Irene Jacob as Desdemona.
Parker kept the original plot and language intact, however the movie seemed to give Othello life
through visual and audio aids. Parker s Othello enables the viewer to associate on a personal level and
compliments to the anticipation and imagination of those who have read the play before watching the
movie. The audio although normally overpowered by the visual aspect played a key role in defining
and empowering the movie. The music was fast and uplifting during celebration and on ... Show more

Some of the best visuals in Parker s movie adaptation of Othello were not in the script, the black and
white chess pieces, water, wedding, sea burial, the dagger, and the glimpses of Cassio and Desdemona
together. The chess pieces seem to symbolise Iago s plan to destroy Othello and Desdemona and also
the sea burial later in the movie. Oliver used a lot of fire and water images throughout the movie,
water seemed to represent ill fate, water foreshadows death or something bad. Desdemona was in the
bath the night she was killed and Othello even washed is hands and face before he killed Desdemona.
The fire and light in Oliver s movie seemed to represent safety and warmth, When Othello is about to
kill Desdemona he blows out the candle. The candle represents Desdemona and how her time to live is
coming to an end. Oliver plays with light through the background, Scenes which involve Desdemona
are bright and lit up until her death and scenes which involve Iago are dark and lack
brightness.Othello s clothes were indicators to his own personal change in the beginning he would
wear white and clothes different to the others but towards the end the clothes he was wearing were
black. These colours reflect the moor s mood at different times of the play. The movie however had
some weak points that pulled it away from shakespeare s original intent with the script. There was a
lot more emphasis on sexuality in the movie than Shakespeare s play intended. There is also

King Lear Women
In the past, women were perceived as housewives, who were expected to stay home to cook, clean,
and watch the children. In the works of William Shakespeare, women play various roles, whether it be
supporting and central or negating and subtle. In Shakespeare s King Lear, the women are
authoritative figures, who are nearly more dominant than their male counterparts. Goneril, Lear s
eldest daughter, constantly manipulates her life and the lives of others by lying and getting rewarded
and telling the truth and getting punished, which ultimately leads to her death. Having been King of
Britain for a long time, Lear announces his plan to divide his kingdom amongst his three daughters,

Cordelia, who tells the truth to her father by saying, I love your Majesty / According to my bond, no

counterfeit perception of herself to her father, leading to her inheritance of half the kingdom. Lear
believes that Goneril and Regan love him the most, making them see kind and gracious, while they are
actually evil and malicious. Goneril shares her inheritance of half the kingdom with her husband
Albany. But, the relationship between Goneril and Albany is weak, crumbling, distrustful, and full of
hate. Goneril and Albany often have different opinions, which leads to quarrels. Moreover, Goneril
seems to overpower Albany, having more authority and control over the servants and the kingdom.
Disinterested in Albany s love, Goneril pursues a younger and more attractive gentleman Edmund. In
a letter written to Edmund from Goneril, it says: Let our reciprocal vows be remembered. / You have
many opportunities to cut him off: if your / will want not, time and place will be fruitfully offered

Romans Christian Worldview Essay
Ray Foote Worldview Paper Bible 425 From the beginning of Paul s letter to the Romans is not only a
letter to the Gentile church in Rome, but also a great introduction to the Gospel for anyone, believer or
non believer to get a starting point from which to form a world view. Paul is clear from Romans 1:3 5
states that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, and the Son of God. Within the first chapter of Romans,
Paul is clear in that God s wrath is on the whole earth, believer and non believer. Romans 1:20 states
that God s invisible attributes, eternal power and divine nature can be seen in the created world.
Meaning that those people, whom have never heard of the Gospel of Christ, can still understand God,

Romans 3:21 states that Jesus came to provide righteousness away from the Law, that way is Jesus
Christ. Verse 22 states that is faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. Verse 24 states that we are all
justified freely by God s grace and that God send Jesus as an atoning sacrifice for the world. The role
that Jesus had on earth was to be a sacrifice for the sins for the world, to be the pure lamb, for those
who have faith in the teachings and saying of Jesus Christ, the redeemer for the sins of the world that
all have done. One of the most overlooked verses in Romans is chapter 5 verse 3; this is one of the
only places in any holy scripture where one would find us being told to rejoice in our sufferings
because it builds perseverance. Romans 5:18 states that just as sin enter the world through one man, so
also the result of all righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. God did not want his
creation to die, but we made the choice to do so, this God sent Jesus to be the atonement for that sin.
Romans chapter 11 starts off telling Christians that we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to
God, it is a way of worship, Paul is telling the readers of his letter, that their bodies are Gods creation,
not something that we should be killing when you do drugs, or the other stupid things that people have
done to their bodies. Paul also tells us

The two financial institutions that will be compared and contrast are the European Central (ECB), and
the central bank of Jamaica, the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ). Being a native of Jamaica, I will start off with
some background information on the BOJ. The Bank of Jamaica, established by the Bank of Jamaica
Law (1960), began operations in May 1961. The establishment of the Central Bank was in recognition
of the need for an appropriately regulated financial structure to encourage the development process,
particularly as Jamaica was about to embark on the road to political independence. The main
objectives of the Central Bank were defined by the Bank of Jamaica Act to be:

Recrystallization Of Naphthalene Lab Report
Experiment 4: Recrystallization of Pure Phthalic Acid, Benzoic Acid, and Naphthalene
Charles Nyberg
Gilbert Immanuel and Rachel Zigelsky
Mussie Gide Introduction Chemical experiments are often described, when they are finished, by the
yield or recovery of the target product or solid. Also melting point can be tested to determine purity in
a compound. Most times these chemicals are not completely pure so they can be recrystallized to
remove the impurities. The technique of recrystallization learned and utilized in this lab works best to
remove contaminates from nonvolatile organic solids.1 A solvent is used that dissolves the solid at
room temperature and then the impurities can be removed via pipette or other simplified removal
process. When all impurities are dissolved and removed, a lattice or an ordered structure in the form of
crystals is able to be collected and observed. Some substances cannot be recrystallized with only one
solvent. Therefore, two solvents, or solvent pairs, can help dissolve the substance at boiling point only
and not room temperature.2 Solvent pairs are able to be dissolved into each other but not anything else
effectively. One part of the pair is used to prevent dissolving at room temperature and the other half is
used to help dissolve at boiling point. Lastly, activated charcoal is utilized to remove brightly colored
impurities from the dissolved solid solutions. The charcoal attracts the impure substances and then is
able to be

The Contributions Of Paul On The Rise Of Christianity
Paris Hunt
Dr. Charles Ellis
HUM 1101
June 8, 2015
Chapter 4 Discussion
Explain the contributions of Paul to the rise of Christianity.
Paul of Tarsus is the most essential figure in early Christianity. His transformation to Christianity
opened doors for the religion. Paul s associations, political aptitudes, and Roman citizenship gave
opportunities other Christian pioneers needed. Paul s work made Christianity open for the masses and
expanded its range past the Holy Land (Fiero 98).
Paul was a Roman citizen and Jewish. His citizenship gave benefits and immunities shut to numerous
early Christians. Furthermore, he was knowledgeable and rich which brought political associations
that the Apostles needed. Paul was especially famous amongst Jewish leader. Initially, Paul aggrieved
Christians as blasphemers. He accepted the Christians distorted Judaism by asserting Christ s divine
nature.
At some point after Christ s crucifixion, he changed over. As indicated by tradition, Jesus went by
Paul on the road toward Damascus. In the vision, Christ asked Paul why do you persecute me? The
vision shortly blinded Paul and prompted his change. Some current researchers conjecture that Paul of
Tarsus endured a seizure which prompted pipe dreams. He in the long run recaptured his sight and
changed over.
After his transformation, Paul started his service. He isolated himself from the congregation in
Jerusalem. This is essential for two reasons. Initially, it permitted him to build

Apollo 13 Essay example
Apollo 13
Apollo 13 launched on April 11, 1970 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The crewmembers
aboard the ship were James A. Lovell Jr., John L. Swigert Jr., and Fred W. Haise, Jr. Before the launch,
there had been a few problems. Thomas K. Mattingly was supposed to fly on the Apollo 13 but he was
exposed to the measles. He didn t have the antibodies to fight the disease, causing him to not be able
to go into space. Swigert took his place. Right before the launch, one of the technicians saw that the
helium tank had a higher pressure than expected. Nothing was done to fix this. During liftoff, the
second stage engine shut down, causing the other engines to run longer than planned. Apollo 13 was
off to a rocky start.

Because of the explosion, the parts weren t used as had been planned. The Service Module (SM) was
supposed to provide the crew with oxygen, water and power before the mission. When the oxygen
exploded, it led to the loss of some of those necessities and the Service Module was nonfunctional.
The Command Module (CM) also provided the crew with power and oxygen. It was also prepared
with couches and served as a control center. When the explosion took place, they had to shut off the
Command Module to allow enough power for reentry. The Lunar Module (LM) was supposed to
provide the crew with living quarters when landed on the moon. However, on
this mission, the crew could not land on the moon. The Lunar Module then acted as a lifeboat. It
allowed the astronauts to preserve the Command Module supplies needed for reentry.
The ground controllers had some major problems to solve. They had to write and test new procedures
to send up to the crew for a safe arrival home. A new navigation problem had to be solved to provide
the crew with a speedy return. Water was also a main concern. The crew was estimated to run out of
water in about five hours. But tests on previous Apollo missions found that the ship could run without
water for about seven hours. The astronauts began to conserve water by cutting the amount they drank
to six ounces each day. The crew began to get dehydrated and they

Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis
Chapter 2 Vendor Evaluation and Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis 2.1 Vendor Evaluation Supplier
or vendor selection decisions are complicated by the fact that various criteria must be considered in
decisions making process. The analysis of criteria for selection and measuring the performance of
suppliers has been the focus of many scientists and purchasing practitioners since 1960s. The majority
of research about supplier selection problem mentions Dickson s study [9]. It is based on a
questionnaire sent to 273 purchasing agents and managers selected from the membership list of the
National Association of Purchasing Managers, which include agents and managers from the United
States and Canada. Dickson s study describes the importance of 23 criteria for supplier selection
which are classified with respect to their importance observed in the beginning of the sixties. At that
time, the most significant criteria are quality of the product, the on time delivery, the performance
history of the supplier and the warranty policy used by the supplier. Table 2.1 Dickson s Supplier

Comparing Viva La Vida And The Count Of Monte Cristo
Power is the thing that keeps the world running although it is not always used correctly. It is the same
way in the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, written by Alexandre Dumas, and the song, Viva La
Vida, written by Coldplay. The Count of Monte Cristo is about a man wrongfully accused of a crime,
and he is seeking out vengeance on the people who put him there using his power. He believes that he
has received this power from God which makes the man feel like he is God, but he is proved wrong
the hard way. Viva La Vida is similar because it is about a king who had so much power he believed
himself to be in control of everything like God. However, the king was also proved wrong. In Viva La
Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, both the author and the songwriter use diction and plot to
develop the idea that power does not make someone Godlike. ... Show more content on

My Little Sister, By Lizbeth Galarza
Dear teacher, allow me to provide you with some insight on who my little sister, Lizbeth Galarza, truly
is. At first glance, she might look like every other Ecuadorian girl with her thick dark brown hair,
deep, small brown eyes, and her short legs; but don t let that fool you her small legs have already
taken her so far in life. At 15 years old, she has learned to identify herself as being both Ecuadorian
and American and being proud of both parts of her, which wasn t so easy for her. She has achieved this
by being surrounded by two completely different environments, one at home and the other at school.
Being Ecuadorian has helped my sister out since the early stages of her life. This was most evident
when as a baby my mother made sure she swaddled her as tightly as she could so in the future she
would have a straight back and know how to stand straight in order to hold her head up high when
facing those who tried to discourage her. Because my mother knew that being latin and coming from a
big family, her little girl was not only going to have to face the judgment of people who thought they
were better than her simply based on race but she would also have to face the judgment of those
closest to her who would judge her because she didn t meet their now obsolescent expectations of who
she was supposed to grow into. My mother also made sure Lizbeth knew how lucky she was for
having all these opportunities to become whatever she wanted in life. As a baby, my sister was

Tesco Mission Statement Essay
Title: Vision and Mission statements are not necessary to create great organizations . Do you agree or
disagree with this
Mission and Vision
A mission statement communicates the organization s reason for being, and how it aims to serve its
key stakeholders, customers, suppliers. It defines the purpose and values of the organization. A
mission statement talks about the present leading to its future. It helps in tactical planning.
A vision statement is sometimes called a picture of your company in the future but it is so much more
than that. Vision statement is the inspiration, the framework for all strategic planning of the
organization.
Vision statement articulates dreams and hopes of business. The mission statement lays out the

of effective leadership and management. The setting of a clear vision is central to Tesco s success,
supported by a commitment to establishing and monitoring specific objectives and devising strategies
to ensure these are achieved.

  • 2. The Growing Culture Of Athletics Professor Henry Senior Seminar 19 October 2015 Mini Review Draft Two Introduction The growing culture of athletics has exploded into more than that of just a sport. Collegiate and professional American football has grown itself into a multi billion dollar industry with a fan base of over 350 million people. As the game of football has grown and evolved, so has the demand for bigger athletes. All positions have increased in size through the years, however one position has seen the greatest increase in size. The average weight of an NFL offensive lineman today is 310 pounds. This is an average increase of 50 pounds in 60 years. Teams and coaches are pushing for players to get larger at a faster rate, primarily offensive lineman. The drawback with this philosophy is as the size of the individual increases, as does the risk of health complications. However, size isn t the only concern for these players that has recently has had light shed upon it, the process of playing a line position (offensive or defensive) includes repeatedly taking head collisions against the opposing player. Recent research has shown that this type of play, even while wearing protective headgear, is causing lasting brain damage and head trauma. The purpose of this review is to examine the research that has been conducted on the negative health effects associated with playing the offensive lineman position at the collegiate and professional level. Also, why these conditions are arising and what the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Decline Of Alcoholic Beverages The earliest alcoholic beverages may have been made from berries or and winemaking may have originated in the wild grape regions of the Middle East. (Hanson, 1995). A variety of alcoholic beverages have been used in China since prehistoric times China perceived alcohol as spiritual food rather than a material food (Hanson, 1995). From the earliest recorded use of alcohol, drinking has been a social activity, and both consumption and behavior have been subject to self imposed social controls. The future of children who grow up in alcoholic families. (1) The term Adult Children of Alcoholics also referred to as ACA s has become more popular in the psychology /mental health world. The term also can be called Adult children of dysfunctional families (ACDF s) which means a person/people who have lived in such dysfunction. People who have grown up in dysfunctional families are put in a group to easily identify them. (2) Alcohol problems don t just hurt the drinker. According to NIAAA, more than half of Americans have at least one close relative with a drinking problem. Spouses and children of heavy drinkers are more likely to face family violence; children are more likely to suffer physical and sexual abuse and neglect and to develop psychological problems. Women who drink during pregnancy run a serious risk of damaging their fetuses. Relatives and friends can be killed or injured in alcohol related accidents and assaults (Association, 2007). • 4. The Moral Issue Of Vivisection Paige Simone English Research Skills Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research. ~George Bernard Shaw (1856 1950) Introduction The everyday products we use such as toothpaste, makeup, and medicines have more than likely been tested on an animal in a laboratory before being available for human consumption. These animals suffer greatly and live lives of isolation and torture. They endure cruel treatment all in the name of scientific research. Many people believe that these tests are necessary to discover cures for human illnesses. This is simply not the case. There is a large amount of research that indicates that animal experiments often lacks validity and do not stand up when transferred to human beings. In addition, the moral issue of vivisection is one that we must all struggle with as human beings. Mohandas Gandhi said I abhor vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of no consequence. and To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man. Scientists and all human beings alike have an obligation to develop alternative methods of testing drugs and products that do not harm animals. Paige Simone English Research Skills ... • 5. President Roosevelt s Response To The Great Depression Imagine all of a sudden being out of a job and becoming bankrupt, and your country going into a depression. In 1929 until the late 1930 s the Great Depression took place and many countries were affected by it, the Great Depression was an economic depression. The cause of the Great depression was the crash of the Stock Market in 1929. The Great Depression affected the US in a way that increased unemployment by 25% and increased the amount of homeless people. In this essay I will be analyzing the responses of President Franklin Roosevelt s administration to the problems of the Great Depression. I will also be talking about how effective these responses were, and how they changed the role of the federal government. I believe that the responses to the Great Depression were very effective in bringing the country out of the Great Depression. The reason I believe that President Roosevelt s response to the Great Depression was very effective was because of economic measures that he took. These measures were known as The New Deal, which were designed to help bring our country out of the depression we were facing. Some of the things that were enacted in the New Deal, were the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Social Security Act, the Civil Works Administration, the enacting of the Emergency Banking Act and the rejuvenation of the Farm Credit Act. All of these corporations and acts were made to help create jobs and rebuild the Stock Market. Some of the greatest acts were the enacting of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Funeral Oration And Pericles Speech Cyril Klutse 4th October,2017 7am Class While everyone has their own opinion, and is more than entitled to share it, other s beliefs and thoughts influence most people. Politics and opinions of leaders on the way in which a country must govern are often easy portals to access an impressionable mind. Throughout history, those with opposing viewpoints on democracy have often spoke up and shared their opinions with the world in hopes of being heard. Aristotle, Pericles and Xenophon have each taken a turn in doing so, and made their feelings obvious to the people. All opinions were very different; Aristotle s being more of an open minded approach towards democracy (not completely dismissing the idea of it), Pericles being in total agreement with it, and Xenophon being sarcastic and exceptionally opposed. In Pericles Funeral Oration , he speaks strongly in favor of a democratic nation and talks about how and why that s important. He specifically mentions that personal freedoms are allowed because of their democratic way of life, but also conveys the point that while the people were free to live for themselves, they chose to live for one another as well, and all hoped to better the city as a positively functioning society. Throughout the address he praises Athenians, their military, and explains to the people how their system of government was to responsible for their success and that it set them apart from other nations. His belief in Democracy was understandable and holds in a similar way today by many people. But while democracy does help immensely with the formation of a nation, Pericles did not discuss that none of the positive attributes stemming from democracy would be possible without the positive actions of his people, with or without it. He didn t necessarily give credit where credit was due, however, he did seem to be on the right track with what would hopefully grow to be the best form of government and for the right reasons; people choosing to live for each other in a positive way is just as important (if not more) than people choosing to live rightly for themselves. Aristotle s view on democracy is much different from Pericles in that while Pericles preached of how each man was both a citizen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Alternative Energy Sources Essay Imagine a world where nobody can use their iPhone, their computer, or even turn on the lights. That is the kind of world the future may be like if there is not an overhaul of how electricity is obtained. Ever since the Industrial Revolution, people have utilized fossil fuels to power their homes, cars, and businesses. Unfortunately, our stores of fossil fuels are running low, and they have been demonstrated to increase the temperature in the atmosphere and accelerate global warming. As gas prices steadily rise, people need a newer, cleaner source of energy. The alternatives are numerous and would be beneficial to the well being of the whole world. The human race must replace its fossil fuel use with renewable resources in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the proven sources of oil will be depleted by the year 2055 according to Erika Antoniazzo, a woman who is well read in terms of oil production.(eco info.net) On the other hand, renewable resources can never be depleted. There will always be wind that can blow turbines. There will always be a sun to heat solar panels. There will always be water to run through dams. The power that can be drawn from these sources is limitless, which is obviously more sustainable than fossil fuels, which clearly has a limit. Scientists are developing technology in the field of nuclear fusion (the process in which the sun creates its energy), which if obtained will provide an infinite amount of power. These alternative sources of energy will provide energy for the world until the end of time. The government has been greatly influenced by big oil companies lobbying for political power. No single group should have such a large amount of power over the government. If our focus on fossil fuels is shifted over to a more general scope that includes various renewable energy sources, then no single group of companies will have a significant amount of power in the direction of the country. Since oil companies have an iron grip on decisions the U.S. makes, we have gone to several wars over the pursuit of oil. General Zilmer stated that the amount of casualties can be reduced greatly if troops could move away from their use of fossil fuels.(News Observer) These wars would ... • 8. Spina Brifida Throughout my research on individuals with Spina Bifida, I highlighted the effects of Spina Bifida on a person. My research showed me that when someone has Spina Bifida, they can live a normal life just like anyone else, with a few adaptations to their daily life. Other research showed me that life with Spina Bifida can be dramatically different than someone without this disease. I used evidence from the Mayo Clinic, My Child Without Limits, and other Children s Hospital s doctors. I am also defending the side of the argument that believes women should not abort their babies if they have Spina Bifida. I think that women should not be allowed to abort their children because they have a disability. As a result of the research I will elaborate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike other diseases, Spina Bifida is a disease that cannot be cured with a drug or surgery. There is not a current cure for Spina Bifida, but there are ways of making the symptoms more endurable. If the child has Myelomeningocele, soon after birth, the child will most likely need surgery. The baby is at high risk of infection, so according to Seattle Children s Hospital, Because part of your baby s spinal cord area is exposed, your baby is at risk of getting an infection or having more damage to the spinal cord. To lessen the risk, our neurosurgeons will operate within your baby s first 24 to 48 hours of life ( Myelomeningocele, 2016). The surgeon will cover the spinal cord and closes the muscles around the muscle cord. Lastly, they close the skin to cover the spine. If the baby has hydrocephalus, which is when there is too much cerebrospinal fluid in the head and a shunt may be required to drain the fluid ( Myelomeningocele, 2016). • 9. John Robin Williams Death In August 2014, the world was shocked when the news of Robin Williams death was reported by the media. At first, people thought that it was just another hoax; rumors of celebrities dying had been making its rounds on the internet, only to be shut down by the representatives of those celebrities. The world was forced to face the truth when Williams family confirmed that he, indeed, had died. Police have confirmed that Williams took his own life by hanging himself in his home. As days passed, reports that Williams was suffering from depression before he took his own life came to light. Many people found it hard to believe since Robin Williams always drove people to tears of laughter and joy. During that time, people cried because of the loss of one of the greatest comedians of all time. Robin Williams is one of the many people who have taken their lives because of depression, which is one of the most common psychiatric disorders in today s society. Because of this, doctors and scientists have developed ways to battle this illness. One of those ways is using antidepressant medications. Unfortunately, there are people who refuse to take them. Why? Some are afraid to take these medications on fear of being dependent and addicted to them while some people believe that antidepressants are just a waste of money and that they are not actually effective. Some argue that antidepressants make the depression worse and can cause violent behavior. In extreme cases, a few people even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mama a woman who holds her family together and is constantly showing her strengths. Even Pa noticed the authority that Mama showed. She is an example of a strong mom that every family would hope to have. A person who exemplifies the above characteristics is someone who is attempting to lead the best life that they possibly can. Mama Joad is a major character who lives by the seven tenets of Catholic Social Justice Teaching, especially call to family, rights and responsibilities, and solidarity. Throughout the story, Ma continues to show her love for her family, and follows Catholic Social Justice Teaching of call to family, community, and participation. Ma portrays her call to family the most. While the Joads were struggling to find gas money, a place to live, and suffering through the sadness of Grandpa s death, She walked for the family and held her head straight up for the family (ch 13). The ensuing seventeen years have culminated into some of the most turbulent, and crime ridden years in the history of New York City. Crack is the street name for a form of cocaine introduced in the mid 1980s. Crack is smoked, rather then sniffed through the nose, or injected, which are all other ways to use cocaine. Users of the drug inhale the vapors that are given off when the crack is heated (Berger pg.20). Crack users range from the Wall Street stockbroker to a homeless person living in Central Park, but by and large this evil drug called crack had its biggest impact on New York s inner city minority population. A New York doctor, Dr. Mark Gold who is the person who set up and helps run the not for profit organization called 800 COCAINE, a hotline set up to help addicts and perspective users answer questions about the drug and also offers counseling and drug intervention services; suggested that his findings showed that, occasional users of crack quickly increased, the amount and frequency of crack use until total dependency was achieved. Men and women who were once law abiding citizens and honest people were now robbing and stealing to pay for the drug, and many who once enjoyed good health were now suffering from a variety of physical and mental aliments springing from their cocaine abuse. • 12. Why Do Neanderthals Could neanderthals have influenced our language, writing ability, and spiritual practices? I think so. Genetic research shows that our DNA can contain up to 4% of neanderthal genetics. Comparing the neanderthal eye sockets to our own shows that neanderthals sockets were larger. Perhaps this means that they were more nocturnal than modern man. I can t help thinking about the vast amount of pyramids across the world, and how some are designated as pyramids of the sun, and some as pyramids of the moon. Could moon worship have originated in ancient modern man from the influence of our ancestors the possibly nocturnal neanderthals? What about the pyramids of the sun? Maybe this sun worship came from our cro magnon ancestors with eyes more similar in size to our own. Our smaller eyes make it more difficult to see in the dark. As I ponder about this, I think it relevant to mention that the moon is usually associated with female deities such as Luna, Diana, Artemis, Selene, and many, many more. Who were the predecessor deities of these already ancient goddesses? Maybe they were influenced by the goddesses that neanderthals worshipped. I wonder if neanderthals saw the female as divine above male. The moon gives off a softer, loving light compared to the Sun s brighter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, during the course of Christianity there has been resistance and dissent, attempts at reform. Religion was the main subject of Luther s ideas and teachings, his disgust at indulgence selling sparking him of to try and start a reform. The church and clergy were seen as being very corrupt at all levels, and were with held in little respect by many. Indulgences were sold to the laity, denouncing their sins with a word from the pope. • 18. Essay Jane Austen Jane Austen 6. How does Mansfield Park interrogate the relationship of power and gender? Mansfield Park by Jane Austen is a classic realist text, which is almost exclusively focused on a small strip of society, namely the upper middle class of rural England; the class to which she herself belonged. Throughout her novel, Austen portrays the disadvantaged position of woman, presenting the issues of gender stereotyping and marriage choice as the main problems they have to confront. Gender came to be seen as a construct of society, designed to facilitate the smooth running of society to the advantage of men 1, proving that men gained power throughout the socially constructed subordination of woman. Fanny s weak position is shown through the punctuation and structure of her sentences, as she often begins to protest, but then breaks off at a dash, unable to continue. This contrasts with the clarity of Sir Thomas s speech, in which he conveys a tone of certainty and finality, whilst speaking with ease. He is confident, and sure of his thoughts; so sure in fact, that he tries to impose them on Fanny, and will use any kind of pressure or cruelty to force her to comply with his decision that she should marry. Sir Thomas trying to persuade Fanny to marry emphasises the fact that Austen s novels operate around the framework of love, marriage and money. Many of the characters believe that there is no future development open to women of their class but marriage and the upbringing of children, making Fanny seem extremely unusual when she turns down Henry s offer. This relates to the Marxist view that dominant visible forms taken by modes of physical and social reproduction through history have been family and kinship structures 2, which utilises the gender positions of male power and female subservience. Austen uses words such as career , to reminds us that marriage was a woman s livelihood, her career in the sense that it was her life s work, and that she would grab any marriage that had good financial prospects. In the society and culture that Austen depicts, the male is regarded as the norm, as the central position from which the female is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recrystallization Of Naphthalene Lab Report Experiment 4: Recrystallization of Pure Phthalic Acid, Benzoic Acid, and Naphthalene Charles Nyberg Gilbert Immanuel and Rachel Zigelsky Mussie Gide Introduction Chemical experiments are often described, when they are finished, by the yield or recovery of the target product or solid. Also melting point can be tested to determine purity in a compound. Most times these chemicals are not completely pure so they can be recrystallized to remove the impurities. The technique of recrystallization learned and utilized in this lab works best to remove contaminates from nonvolatile organic solids.1 A solvent is used that dissolves the solid at room temperature and then the impurities can be removed via pipette or other simplified removal process. When all impurities are dissolved and removed, a lattice or an ordered structure in the form of crystals is able to be collected and observed. Some substances cannot be recrystallized with only one solvent. Therefore, two solvents, or solvent pairs, can help dissolve the substance at boiling point only and not room temperature.2 Solvent pairs are able to be dissolved into each other but not anything else effectively. One part of the pair is used to prevent dissolving at room temperature and the other half is used to help dissolve at boiling point. Lastly, activated charcoal is utilized to remove brightly colored impurities from the dissolved solid solutions. The charcoal attracts the impure substances and then is able to be ... Paul of Tarsus is the most essential figure in early Christianity. His transformation to Christianity opened doors for the religion. Paul s associations, political aptitudes, and Roman citizenship gave opportunities other Christian pioneers needed. Paul s work made Christianity open for the masses and expanded its range past the Holy Land (Fiero 98). Paul was a Roman citizen and Jewish. His citizenship gave benefits and immunities shut to numerous early Christians. Furthermore, he was knowledgeable and rich which brought political associations that the Apostles needed. Paul was especially famous amongst Jewish leader. Initially, Paul aggrieved Christians as blasphemers. He accepted the Christians distorted Judaism by asserting Christ s divine nature. At some point after Christ s crucifixion, he changed over. As indicated by tradition, Jesus went by Paul on the road toward Damascus. In the vision, Christ asked Paul why do you persecute me? The vision shortly blinded Paul and prompted his change. Some current researchers conjecture that Paul of Tarsus endured a seizure which prompted pipe dreams. Water was also a main concern. The crew was estimated to run out of water in about five hours. But tests on previous Apollo missions found that the ship could run without water for about seven hours. • 33. Comparing Viva La Vida And The Count Of Monte Cristo Power is the thing that keeps the world running although it is not always used correctly. It is the same way in the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, written by Alexandre Dumas, and the song, Viva La Vida, written by Coldplay. The Count of Monte Cristo is about a man wrongfully accused of a crime, and he is seeking out vengeance on the people who put him there using his power. He believes that he has received this power from God which makes the man feel like he is God, but he is proved wrong the hard way. Viva La Vida is similar because it is about a king who had so much power he believed himself to be in control of everything like God. However, the king was also proved wrong. In Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, both the author and the songwriter use diction and plot to develop the idea that power does not make someone Godlike. ... At 15 years old, she has learned to identify herself as being both Ecuadorian and American and being proud of both parts of her, which wasn t so easy for her. She has achieved this by being surrounded by two completely different environments, one at home and the other at school. Being Ecuadorian has helped my sister out since the early stages of her life. This was most evident when as a baby my mother made sure she swaddled her as tightly as she could so in the future she would have a straight back and know how to stand straight in order to hold her head up high when facing those who tried to discourage her. Because my mother knew that being latin and coming from a big family, her little girl was not only going to have to face the judgment of people who thought they were better than her simply based on race but she would also have to face the judgment of those closest to her who would judge her because she didn t meet their now obsolescent expectations of who she was supposed to grow into. My mother also made sure Lizbeth knew how lucky she was for having all these opportunities to become whatever she wanted in life. As a baby, my sister was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
