Jennifer Finnigan edited 6 photos using Photoshop to give them a vintage look. Some of the key edits included lowering brightness and exposure to create a darker, muted tone. Contrast and saturation were also adjusted to make subjects stand out against backgrounds. Cropping and selective color adjustments were used as well. The overall goal was to enhance the photos while maintaining a retro, storytelling atmosphere.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
2. Photo 1
• To begin this process, I used a software
called Photoshop. First, I increased the hues
in the photo. By adjusting the hues, it allows
me to shift color values in my photograph.
This can change the emotional impact of the
image. I then lowered the saturation of the
photo. Because of this it created a muted or
a calming effect to the photo.
3. • In my opinion, I thought that the photo
was too dark, so I decided to increase the
brightness levels a bit. By doing this the light
helps make the main attraction stand out
more.
4. • I decreased the exposure of the
photograph to show the dese and the dark
calmness making it soothing. Because of this
there is also a lot of action coming from the
image which makes the photo more
appealing and interesting to the eye. After
that I slightly increased the offset so there is
grey tint to the photo. By doing this it
creates almost like a vintage like theme and
keeps it interesting for the audience.
5. • On photoshop, I wanted to be able to control
what colors to include so I went to selective color an
went through each one. First was cyan and I decided
to lower it a lot, mostly because blue shades didn’t
make the photo look that appealing. The I increased
the magenta color the smallest bit. Magenta is like a
purplish reddish color, which when I was playing
with the color adjustments, I could see that the
magenta color was more in the skin toes. Therefore,
I only increased it a small amount so it would more
natural and not to dark or red. Within the skin tone I
could also see that there was tints of yellow because
of this I increased it. The yellow is showing on the
guitar as well there arms and faces. The black is
lowered mainly because it makes it have more of
story or an action behind it.
6. Photo 2
• To start editing this photo I decided to
mess around with the levels of brightness .
Mostly because at first it seemed as If the
brightness was too dark and dull. By
increasing the brightness, it highlighted his
hair, the shoes which made a reflection on
the floor and his guitar. I done this because I
wanted the main attention to be the
guitarist not anything such as the
background etc... After I wanted to enhance
the contrast within the image. This made
the action come to life and become
appealing to the eye.
7. • For my theme I wanted to create my
photos that had a vintage sense towards
them. Therefore, I lowered my exposure so
there is not too much light being exposed .
This would distract the audience from main
attention and would become unattractive.
To create the vintage effect, I slightly raised
the offset levels, this gives off a grey type of
tint to the photo. I the lowered the gamma
correction to slightly tone my photo.
8. • For this part, I increased the vibrance
levels, this is so the highlights and the image
itself would stand out more and not too grey
for the audience to look at. In this case it
brightened his hair, hands , shoes and his
guitar as a whole. After this I expanded the
saturation a bit. By doing this, it made a
calm, muted affect however still added
action to the photo which makes it
interesting to look at.
9. • To make the photo not have too much of
a grey tint, I heightened the contrast just to
bring it back to life with some darkness aka
deeper black. In my opinion, I thought the
photo was too dark and dim, so I made the
brightness higher which made it brighter
and less dark so that it does not seem sad.
By doing this, made the photo more
attractive. This shows that I'm making the
main attraction stand out and show at a
higher level of brightness.
10. Photo 3
• For this photograph, I lowered the
brightness, this draws the attention to the
musicians. Because of this it has created a
spotlight effect on the singer and guitarist.
After this, I adjusted the contrast to make
the background seem darker. This is also
done to make the photo pop, show the
textures in their clothes and face. By
modifying the contrast, it creates edginess
within the photo and brings out strength.
11. • To follow the vintage theme, I dropped
the saturation. This makes the image darker
as it I has a greyscale effect. I then increased
the lightness of the photo, because I done
this it has made the centre filled with light
whereas the rest seems to get darker
further out.
12. • Additionally, I had to crop this photograph
this is because the second microphone was
distracting from the focus. By doing this it
has created a rule of thirds, this draws the
eyes straight to the middle of the photo
where the action is.
13. Photo 4
• Essentially, I used to sharpen tool on
photoshop to enhance the percieved detail
in her clothes. The sharpening tool helps to
contrast the smallest of pixels to make them
look more pronounced. I used this
method around Leah's sleeve.
14. • After I sharpened a portion of this image, I
moved on to the brightness. I increased the
brightness so the singer would stand out
from the background mainly because if it
was too dark, she would almost blend into
it. I slightly adjusted the contrast the reason
for this is because by doing this it makes the
background a lot darker, and this makes the
musicians stand out from the image.
15. • The exposure was decreased mainly
because I wanted to make it little dark but
not too much. This is because I'm making t
look vintage. Offset applies a grey tint to
the photo this is what gives the photo the
vintage sense.
16. Photo 5
• For this photograph, I will be following
round about the same processes that I have
done for the previous photos. I started off
by decreasing the brightness on the image
to make it look dark. This creates a
mysterious and an action filled vibe. I
addition , I increased the contrast to make
the black background darker, this makes the
guitarists stand out more.
17. • I decreased the levels of the photograph.
This means that I lowered the tonal range
in the image and corrected the colour
balance. Because of this it has brough out
the shadows a lot more and the highlights
on the guitars.
18. • To bring this photo back to life I increased
the saturation. This makes the photo a
little lighter and by doing this it had
shown the shadows a lot more. I then
increased the hues the smallest amount.
The reason for this is because I wanted
the blues to be brought out more. Also, I
adjusted the lightness of the image, this
because I didn’t want it being too dark.
19. • For this part of the process, I increased
the vibrance in the photo, so the colors
didn’t seem as dull.
20. • I slightly lowered the exposure of the
photo. By doing this, it lowers the intensity
of light exposed to the photo. This also helps
details the highlights and shadows of the
photograph.
21. Photo 6
First of all, I lowered the exposure,
this creates a grey like tint on the
photograph. This makes it have a
vintage atmosphere which makes
it interesting and full of action and
stories to tell. I slightly raised the
offset just the smallest bit, this
gives it an artistic feel to the
image.
22. Afterwards I increased the brightness, so
the photo wasn’t too dark because of the
exposure. The brightness is specifically
aimed at the singer's outfit and parts
of their face. Because of this effect it
seem like they are looking at the heavens
or for hope. Therefore, hope links to their
journey, through their music. I then
uncreased the contrast levels. This is
because it makes the blacks stand out
more such as the black jumper and the
chair. It brings out darker details within
the image.
23. In addition, I decided to alter the saturation.
This makes the photo become warmer and
makes the lead singers skin become glowy,
this personally gives off independence and
confidence from the band.
