This is the first photo shoot I did, it is set in my back garden with
the fence as a background. The model is sixteen years old and I
thought this was the correct age as she is the same age as my
target audience, I also wanted her to be young so it would link in
with my genre charts, as most people who listen to this kind of
music are this age. I decided to get the model to wear a
Christmas jumper so it would fit in with the Christmas edition of
my magazine. From all of the photos I took none of them match
the plan I did for them. This is partly because I didn’t have the
props needed at the time or the weather wasn’t brilliant. So most
of the photos I took were improvised on the day, however this
wasn’t a problem as I wanted the model to bring across a
positive emotion to the image, and she did.

3. Photo shoot 1
I decided to use this image as I like the direct eye
contact the model is giving to the audience. Also
the scarf links in with the theme of Christmas.
However, when looking back at the shoot I
thought the background and jumper clashed
together because there were two different
shades of green and so I decided I will somehow
change this in Photoshop.

4. Photo shoot 2
The second photo shoot was took in my house against a
white wall. Again like the first shoot I chose someone
young as the model. I decided to keep my photo plan
and include a cake. Even though when you first see the
image you wouldn’t associate this with music, but when
the photos in the magazine the anchorage and the rest
of the layout will link it altogether. I decided to have a
cake with the colour red as that’s a colour you associate
with Christmas. Also the apron the model’s wearing says
‘celebrity chef’ which shows that the model is
supposedly an artist.

5. Photo shoot 2
I decided to use this photo as I like the way she
is posing and smiling as she's showing a
positive emotion. Also I like the image as there’s
not much I could do to improve it, apart from
getting rid of the shadow.

6. Photo shoot 3
My third photo shoot was also in my garden. This time my
model was male so the magazine could target both
genders of my target audience. There is nothing
Christmassy happening in this shoot as I didn’t want the
Christmas edition idea take way too much attention from
my genre of charts, And I think this image particularly
gets across my genre. One of the planned photo shoots
of this I didn’t do but I was still happy with the images I
took.

7. Photo shoot 3
I decided to use these two images as I like the pose and
eye contact of the model. I probably won’t do much to
improve these images as I like them the way they are,
The only thing I will probably do is maybe crop the
background a bit and change the brightness and contrast.

8. Photo shoot 4
This is the last photo shoot I did. I took a lot more photos
for this shoot as these images will be used for my double
page spread. I included some Christmas props which will
go with my article on the DPS. Only one of my images
matches one of my photo plan and all the other photos
were improvised on the day, However his doesn’t bother
me as I’m happy with how all of them turned out.

9. Photo shoot 4
I’ve decided I will use these three images. One will be
used on the front cover and the others on the double
page spread. I chose these because they are all different
because of the different poses, However I do not like the
background and so will probably cut out the background.

10. The editing process and how it’s done
To edit all my images I used the program photo shop.

13. 1.The first thing I did was
improve the saturation of
the image. I did this by
clicking on this icon found
at the bottom the ‘layer’
box on photo shop.
2. Then this brings up a list
of options to go onto. So I
clicked on the one that
says ‘hue/saturation’.
3. Then this brings up a box which
gives you the chance to change
the saturation, lightness or hue of
your image. So for my image I
increased the saturation to bring
out more colour.
4. I then decided to increase the
brightness and contrast by
again clicking on the same icon
as before except choosing the
option ‘brightness/contrast’.
It then brings up a different box
where you can increase or
decrease the brightness and
contrast of the image. I
increased the brightness to
make my image more bright and
increased the contrast to make
the colours of parts of my photo
brighter.

14. 5. I decided I didn’t like the background as it
clashed with the colour of some of my features
on my magazine and so I changed it. I did this
by clicking on the hue and saturation again. I
decreased the hue and saturation until I liked
the colour of the background.
I then clicked on the paint tool as I didn’t want
the whole of the image to be that colour.
So I used this tool to
erase the changes on
the model.
I did this to both of the images so it
showed it was from the same photo
shoot.

16. 1. I made many changes
on this photo shoot. The
first thing I did was blur the
background as the
background again clashed
with the layout of my
magazine. So I did this by
clicking on this tool here.
This then let you draw over
where you wanted the
picture to blur.
2. The next thing I did was
increase the brightness
and contrast and the hue
and saturation.
3. I then changed the colour of
the jumper, which I did by using
the same method as the photo
shoot before where I changed
the hue and saturation and
erased the bits I didn’t want
changing. I also changed the
background colour as well,
again using the same method.

18. 1. For this image I changed
the brightness and contrast
of this image. I then had to
get rid of the shadows. I
did this by using the brush
tool.
2. I then used this tool
which let me click on the
image to get that specific
colour, I then used the
brush tool by colouring in
the shadows with that
colour. This colour was the
same colour as the
background which meant
you couldn’t see where the
shadows were erased.

22. 3. I then needed to crop out
the rest of the background
using the pen tool
4. So then I had to click
around the model which
create a chain.
5. You keep doing this until
you meet back to the start.
1. For these images I cut out the
background. The firs thing I did
was crop the excess background.

2. This then let me drag a box
around the part of the image I
wanted to keep.
6. Once you’ve finished
you right click in the part
of the image selected and
choose the option ‘make
selection’.
7. This then gets rid of the
background .

23. 8. I then finished editing
the image by changing the
brightness and hue and
saturation.

24. I then saved all my edited images as a JPEG file.
