Why Is Seatbelts Important
Nowadays, most people own cars and many people are riding cars on a daily basis. Although we
sometimes hear on the news about people dying by car accidents, there are much more cases when
people are not injured by car accidents thanks to the range of safety equipment designed to keep the
people on the car safe in the event of a car crash. The range of safety equipment is supported in the
background by the modern advanced science. First of all, seatbelts are installed in every kind of car
that is being sold. Seatbelts take a very important role in cars because it works in many ways to
protect the passengers from danger and car accidents. One of the reasons why seatbelts are important
is because seatbelts reduce the speed of a body of a passenger as it gets an experience of an abrupt
decreasing of speed. Since the velocity of the car and the passenger is independent, even when the car
crashed into a wall and the velocity suddenly decreases to zero, the body of a passenger will want to
still move forwards. The second reason is that seatbelts prevent passengers from slamming parts of

The antilock braking system was made to support the driver to control some steering dexterity and
avoid skidding while putting on the brake. Anti lock brakes were first introduced in the mid 1980s and
became a major equipment of a mobile in cars that were sold in Canada. The antilock braking system
allows the driver to keep control of the car and uses wheel speed sensor to take a decision whether any
wheels are trying to lock up during the action of braking. Then the system works a series of hydraulic
valves restrict or decrease the braking on those wheels, which prevents skidding and allows the driver
to maintain steering control. Anti lock brakes are one of the major systems that save passengers for car

Implications Of Health Economic Concepts Of Health Care.
Implications of Health Economic Concepts of Health Care Healthcare is an industry that encompasses
various factors to ensure that it s operating efficiently. Health care professionals have an obligation to
comprehend the role that health economics plays in regards to the demand and utilization of health
care. The government plays an enormous part in areas such as financing and the delivery of care;
therefore, the organization s decision maker must learn the economic functions and its benefits to the
health care sector. Delivering outstanding medical care is equally as important as understanding
demand and supply, available resources and the cost to provide care. Consequently, the principals of
health economics are essential to meeting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Pendzialek, Simic, Stock Pendzialek (2016), An example of price elasticity can occur
when the number or persons enrolled in a health plan changes when the cost of the premium rises or
declines. Unbeknownst to a majority of consumers, they play a bigger part in how the price elasticity
transpires and how their decisions impact the health demand curve. Health Measures The two
components that are used to assess health measures are morbidity and mortality. Morbidity is the
percentage of individuals diagnosed with certain conditions along with the number of hospitalizations.
Pregnancy has the potential cause other conditions that were not present before conceiving. Diabetes
and hypertension are two health conditions that can occur during pregnancy. According to Kilpatrick
Berg (2016), Identifying morbidity in post partum women can be based on ICU admissions and blood
transfusion that exceeds four units of blood. The more people with ideal health will lower the
morbidity rate, however as health declines and new conditions arise that will contribute to an increase
in morbidity rates. Mortality is not solely the totality of deaths it s the number of people who die
prematurely. The measurement of morbidity and mortality are imperfect since all health professionals
are not reporting the information; therefore, a strict protocol needs to

John Patrick Shanley Doubt Play Analysis

Catholic Church and School in the Bronx in 1964, the play Doubt by John Patrick Shanley arose some
major conflict between the nun, Sister Aloysius and Father Flynn. The conflict of the play lies in the
constant belief of a strict nun named Sister Aloysius trying to jeopardize Father Flynn s reputation in
believing that Father Flynn, the Priest has done something unthinkable to one of the students that
attended the school. Based on her own intuition the strict nun believes that the Priest has been

complex policy environment with in the past forty years. Despite decades of public efforts to combat
child abuse and child neglect, child maltreatment remains a significant problem in the United States of
America. In the early 2000s, several priest molestation scandals broke that have rippled worldwide.
Many cases were not prosecutable; as the evidence uncovered was from so long ago that the Statute of
Limitations had expired. As a result of some of the cases, there was a push to alter these statutes so
that adults who were molested as children would have a chance to testify and seek justice years after
the event. In just one Australian state, Victoria, it is estimated between 600 and 10,000 children were
abused since the 1930s. It is estimated that at least 4% of Roman Catholic priests serving in the United
States during the first half of the 20th Century abused minors. What gets me is it s the same story
every time and every place. Bishops appoint priests that they know have abused children in the past to
new parishes and new communities and more abuse happens. (Colm O Gorman, former abuse

The Education Medium For The Course
As part of the teaching team instructing a first year course in American History, there is a lot to cover
in a semester. My part of the module consists of educating the students about slavery in nineteenth
century America. Solomon Northup s memoir, 12 Years A Slave will be part of the curriculum, since it
is an authentic piece of history in American slavery. However, as the instructor, I need to decide what
educational medium to use. I have the choice of the book/memoir itself or the academy award winning
film. Both mediums have their advantages and disadvantages as a teaching aid.
After some consideration, I will be using the film as the education medium for the course. While the
book is a fountain of information, I believe the film will be more beneficial for a first year history
course. This film will truly engage the students and give them a better understanding of the
unfortunate events of historical slavery. Though, the film is not the primary evidence of slavery, it
does portray authenticity. As long as the film does not forfeit its historical accuracies for entertainment
value, then it should be used as an educational tool. However, loss of accurate historical information is
not an issue since this Hollywood film manages to accurately depict history.
For starters, the actors and actresses that were cast were true to their detailed descriptions in the book.
The students can visualize the characters and their personalities in the film. It could drive the students

Summary Of The Post American World
In the book The Post American World, by Fareed Zakaria, he spoke of the three economical shifts in
the world throughout history. Each one of these shifts has changed the world drastically, with political,
culture, and of course, economical differences in every country in the world. What Zakaria had
brought to my attention very early in the book was that we are currently living through the third
economical shift right now. To be honest, I had never really thought about where the world was
heading, and if I hadn t read this book, I would ve thought that the United States would remain the
main superpower in the world and the rest of the world would sort of stay at their current status. Poor
countries would remain poor, and every developed country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As these countries adopt certain programs from the United States and improve them to make the
benefits better to help people gain more money, to grow their economies, America is being left in the
dust. As he says in the interview with BBC. The United States needs to reboot, and make changes in
its health care, pensions, social security, and energy (BBC, Zakaria). As the United States is for the
first time in a long time subject to a change in the world rather than making that change, the United
States will have to make some major changes to either keep up or get ahead of the other rising
countries. As Zakaria describes these possible changes it would literally change life in the U.S that we
have now, but change it for the better. This is shown by Zakaria s confidence in the U.S to always do
what has to be done, no matter what the circumstances. From this book Zakaria has taught me and all
of of his other readers that big changes are coming. That history as we know it is slowly being
rewritten as we know it. That what was seen as impossible even 10 years ago is a reality and we are
living through it, how exciting! The United States won t be the main superpower of the world,
countries we would never expect to rise economically are rising the superpower penthouse is growing.

Hd Tv Transition
In a world of Hulu, HD TV, and online streaming, the television industry has had no choice but to
embrace shifting consumer trends within the industry. Now that Internet streaming has allowed
consumers to watch whatever they want, whenever they want, it is becoming harder for cable
providers to keep up with consumer demand. Television broadcasters must take advantage of the
bandwidth that they have available to them if they are to compete in the viewing market. With
streaming sites such as Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix gaining competitive advantage in the market,
television broadcasters can no longer sit back and continue to run as they always have. Accordingly,
these television stations have begun making much needed modifications. Since 2009, television
broadcasters have begun shutting down their analog systems and converting to strictly digital in
compliance with the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act. In February of 2009, the
FCC required all hybrid television producers, including companies such as Time Warner Cable and
Verizon, to shut down their analog systems and convert to digital transmissions only. Due to this
transition, the analog ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Romanticism, By Charles Baudelaire
Romanticism is an artistic revolt that originated in Europe in the 18th century. It rejected the
rationalism, logical thinking, and societal norms associated with the Age of Enlightenment. Rather, it
embraced ideals that came out of the French Revolution. The works of art focused on promoting free
thinking and provoking feeling from its viewers. To further explain Romanticism, poet and critic
Charles Baudelaire once wrote that romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in
exact truth, but in way of feeling. Various paintings throughout the 18th and 19th century helped to
define this time in art history. During the Romanticism era, it was through the emphasis on emotion,
freedom, and the everyday life that the Romantic principles of the sublime and the picturesque were
expressed. One of the various themes present in Romanticism is emotion. A major part of the
Romanticism movement was placing focus on emotion as opposed to reason. In paintings where a
central theme is emotion, artists use the sublimity and picturesque aspects of nature to symbolize
feeling or convey a narrative. In The Lady of Shalott (1888) by John William Waterhouse, the subject
of the painting is a woman, sitting alone in a boat. It takes inspiration from a scene from a poem of the
same name by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem tells the story of the young woman and her
unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. Even though the focus of the image is the sorrowful woman, the

Little Bighorn Battle Analysis
The Battle of the Little Bighorn River, which took stage on the 25th and 26th of June 1876, was
known to the Lakota as the Battle of the Greasy Grass. This Battle was also one of the last important
stands of the American Indians against the United States of America. The Battle took place in the
Montana Territory between the combined Indian tribes of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and
Arapaho tribes. These Indian tribes led by Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and other Indian leaders battled
the Seventh Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The Indian forces were victorious during
this battle where they faced their much smaller in number opponent led by General George Armstrong
Custer. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the events that led to the conflict, the environment of
the battle ground, the disposition and composition of each side, actions, inactions taken as well as the
their significance.
The Indians, threatened by the expansion of the white settlements west of the Mississippi River, this
endangered their way of life that revolved around the Buffalo and eventually led to their confinement
to reservations. The United States Government claimed a large portion of their lands for other uses but
did grant the plain Indians with an area exclusive to them known as the Great Sioux Reservation,
established by the treaty of 1868. It also allowed them hunting ground and grazing land for the
Buffalo outside the reservation.

Panzar And Rosse Test Essay
The classical evaluation method of competition estimate concentration index to basically analyze the
industry and market structure. But this method criticized as competition is more related to conduct not
to structure, thus empirical test to calculate the degree of competition seems to be more benefited.
Panzar and Rossse developed an experience based model to evaluate the elasticity of total revenue
with respect to changes in input prices and they reject the hypothesis of monopoly if the sum of
revenues is positive (Shaffer, 1982). The Panzar and Rosse test founded on this reality that a regarding
market demand curves of firms, a profit maximizer monopolist (MR = MC 0), will operate on elastic
point of that curve as MR 0 addressed to elastic demand, while it is not true for competitive group of
firms. In this study we have calculate the H Statistic respect to firm s elasticity of demand and make

Group Therapy For Treatment Of Psychological Issues
Groups Reflection Peg Michaels Walden University Groups Reflection Through research, group
therapy has been proven to be as cost affective and therapeutically beneficial as individual therapy for
treatment of psychological issues (Corey, Corey Corey, 2010). For counselors to appropriately
facilitate many types of group therapy they need to develop certain skills. These skills can be learned
through cross training. Some counselors may find they only like to facilitate certain types of groups,
but they can overcome their personal discomfort by learning the strategies that are available to assist
them. This paper is about my group therapy conceptualization, world view, and the group process.
Conceptualization, process and dynamics Group counseling is facilitated by a therapist or counselor,
accommodating 5 to 15 clients, each attempting to achieve specific goals. Corey (et al., 2010) tells us
that counselors facilitate group movement through the use of different technique to engage group
participants. Counselors create a safe, judgement free place for participants to interact with each other

during discussions. Though opening up in front of strangers may feel intimidating at first, it allows the
creation of the support network as well as a sounding board for members to express their thought and
feelings (Johnson, 2016). Facilitating the group process requires the counselor to

himself very well towards the women by introducing himself to them and then asking them to dance.
He is sensible, good humoured, lively and very good mannered. Mr Bingley was good looking and

The main facts that can affect supply and demand of foreign exchange have been discussed as follow:
Firstly, a country s GDP growth reflects the country s economy to flourish. When the national income
increases, consumption ability also increases. In this situation, the country s central bank is likely to
raise interest rates, tightening the money supply, by which, the country s economic performance is
good enough to rising interest rates and will increase the competitive power of the currency. On the
other hand, if a country s GDP has a negative growth, the country s currency s competitive power will
reduce. Generally speaking, the high rate of economic growth would push their currencies rise, while
low economic growth rate will cause the currency exchange rate to fall.
Secondly, interest rates rise, can make the interest income increased, holding the currency to attract
investors to buy the currency, therefore, support for the currency is good; if interest rates fall, holding
the currency income will reduce, its appeal is diminished. Therefore, it can be said that interest rates,
currency is strong; interest rates fall, weak currency .

Examples Of Child Care Observation
Step 1: Participant.
The child I chose to observe was a brown hair, Hispanic 15 month old girl. The reason I chose to
observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has such
a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her parents just
dropped her off.
Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to
observe the child.
I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I briefly
described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and asked if it
would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no problem with it. The
mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before submitting it just so she
could read it, and make sure everything looked good.
Step 3: Procedure.
The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood
Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/ breakfast
time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the CDRC, because

Descartes Essay
In the early 17th century a philosopher named Descartes, questioned his existence. His life was
dedicated to the founding of a philosophical and mathematical system in which all sciences were
logical.
Descartes was born in 1596 in Touraine, France. His education consisted of attendance to a Jesuit
school of La Fleche. He studied a liberal arts program that emphasized philosophy, the humanities,
science, and math. He then went on to the University of Poitiers where he graduated in 1616 with a
law degree. Descartes also served as a volunteer in several different armies to broaden his horizons.

His God must also be omnipotent to do the things he wished to describe later, so he proved God to be
omnipotent. The main literary work in which he published these proofs was his Meditations. The other
major philosophical work, which was publisher later, was his Discourse on Method. These two main
works have paved the path for modern philosophy throughout the world. Although Descartes proved
the existence of God, he did not believe him to be imminent, but rather, transcendent. He was by
definition a Deity. He believed that God created the world and the laws by which it works. Then, set
the cosmos in motion by these natural laws and simply watches it operate.
Once Descartes proved his own existence and that of God s, he proceeded on to the sciences. He
showed that mathematics was the truest of all sciences. Descartes studied math intensely at the Jesuit
school. His zeal for the subject continued into his later life. Gradually, he became more and more
disgusted with the current system of math. He sought to revise it and ended up revolutionizing it. Math
today is based upon the Cartesian system. Descartes is called the quot;Father of Modern Mathematics

treatise, Geometry, Descartes reveals his analytic geometry. Analytic geometry allows any curve to be

Open Ended Questions In Research Essay
Questionnaires and surveys are useful for determining the attitudes, characteristics, profiles, beliefs
from a sample of people. In designing a questionnaire that focuses on open ended questions the main
concern should be on determining the way the responses will be quantified.
Open ended questions are often used in research to clarify closed questions or as a means of
generating ideas. In both cases it is generally assumed that the longer and more detailed the response
to an open ended question the better (Graziano et al, 2000). However, relatively little is known about

questions.

The Importance Of Superstitions In Sports
One doesn t acquire superstitions, curses, or obsession out of nowhere towards a sports team. It s
something that s involuntarily part of someone when they participate in these gatherings with other
sports fans. Having a passion specifically for a team could get a crowd riled up, so when they begin to
lose, people try to generalize what could have caused the circumstance.
Fear of one s team being in a losing streak, who never seem to win, sports fans try to hold on to a
sense of hope and something to believe in that could explain the reasoning as to why they haven t won
for a period of time. However, there is no logical evidence that superstitious or curses are the cause of
a team lost in a game.
Being a fan of a sports team, specifically baseball, could result in being prone to believing the curses
or superstitious that comes with the team when they have lost. People are always trying to fill in the
gaps of what could cause such a loss, and when they can t find a legitimate reason they direct their
attention to superstition. Many attribute it to events that occurred earlier that could be the cause of a
team losing, even though the event could have no relation to the outcome of the game. Before the
Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, ending the 108 year old drought that began in 1908, a
curse began to surface called the Curse of the Billy Goat. When a Cubs fan was ejected from Wrigley
field after many people complained about the smell

International Differences Of Well Being
As I continued my research, Ruut Veenhoven stated this question in Chapter 11 of the book
International Differences of Well Being the discussions centers on whether happiness is similar for all
humans or rather something that varies across cultures (328). This question interests me, because it is
a question that I think is very important. We all have a wide range of different priorities and values.
First, he chooses to define happiness: I use the word happiness for a subjective state of mind, which I
define as the overall appreciation of one s life as a whole. Happiness is the sum of pleasures and pains
. Happiness in this sense is synonymous with life satisfaction and subjective well being (Veenhoven
329). Veenhoven, then, breaks up the questions How universal is happiness into sub questions because
it is too broad to answer. Veenhoven says that, although the mood is something we are aware of it is
mostly not in the foreground of our consciousness. It is still assessable, and we can estimate how well
we feel most of the time, unlike babies.
Overall, Veenhoven finds that the circumstances of being happy seem to be the same across the world
and so are the consequences of enjoying life or not (329). Veenhoven s use of surveys and statistics
makes his research believable to his audience. He shows that being happy is not complicated, and
most people know whether they are happy with life or not. I think if we looked at the specifics of what
made us happy,

Essay on The Chrysanthemums
Everything is everything in the world of short stories. Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums is full of
thick rhetoric that raises questions and stirs the mind and imagination. Everything from the title, to the
last line needs to be thought about more than once. The story isn t just about a farmer s wife who likes
pretty flowers. Not in the least! The Chrysanthemums is a story about how Elisa Allen is forced to a
life that she feels is trapping her. The story is set in the early twentieth century and these times don t
allow for just any woman to leave her ordinary, socially and politically correct life. Feminism is a
large part of the story, and main character Elisa Allen s language, actions, and even the way she is
described play a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toward the end of the story she realizes she was taken. Elisa had been taken advantage of because the
man had no need for the chrysanthemums. On page 293 she finds the chrysanthemums and earth in the
dark speck on the road. He kept the pot, her fifty cents, and a small piece of her pride but disregarded
the flowers. His story of the woman who wanted chrysanthemums was just a facade and a devious
scheme to get work.
The chrysanthemum is cut every year before it blooms. Elisa said that helping them bloom is the
hardest part. This is also a way the flower is like Elisa. Even though she is cut down, she tries to grow
right back so to speak. In this way she is strong like the flower, but also very delicate in the fact that it
only takes one man to humiliate her and cut her right back down to size. Elisa is a very strong woman,
and the word strong is language that is used quite often in this story. Like the strong, resilient
chrysanthemum so is Elisa. On page 285 Henry Allen tells his wife that she has a strong new crop
coming. With an arrogance she says Yes. They ll be strong this coming year. The word strong itself is
a way the language in the story has a little something extra on it. Healing is the longest, hardest part
about anyone being put down and humiliated. Eventually she will bloom again and it is like she was
never hurt. When Henry says she has a strong crop, Steinbeck is referring to Elisa s state of mind. At
the time of the statement, Elisa was

Today, I am here to talk to you about something that everyone should be aware of, and something that
should put Trump to shame. On Saturday, April 8, 2017, Donald Trump had sent an order to our

Why did we exactly bomb Syria? . The main reason on why Trump sent out the order was to scare

Life At Home Recovering Before It Is Safe For Resume Work
Many times after injuries or medical procedures, one is required to spend time at home recovering
before it is safe to resume work. In the Army, this recovery leave is non chargeable and a physician
decides the length of recovery. The first form of leave is called quarters and is typically 24 to 36
hours. Quarters is typically prescribed to soldiers that have infectious diseases such as the flu. When a
Soldier is given quarters they must stay at home in order to mitigate the spread of the disease and to
allow them to rest and recover. The second form of medical leave is called convalescence leave.

Probably one of the biggest aspects of the Army s Total Compensation plan is the free medical
coverage provided to all soldiers. I cannot think of another organization that offers a totally cost free
medical package for its employees. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the leadership in the Army is very
supportive of soldiers attending medical appointments in order to maintain a high level of medical
readiness, which is a critical aspect of the Army being able to conduct its mission. Soldiers do not see
a physician when they are injured or ill initially. The first line of medical screening includes unit
medical personnel, which includes medics and the unit physician s assistant. If it is determined that the
soldier will require treatment or diagnosis from a physician they are then referred to a doctor. This is a
key way that the Army saves money on its no cost medical coverage. By not having a soldier be seen
by a physician immediately and having a lower ranking medic, who gets paid much less, conduct the
initial assessment and possibly remedy the situation, the Army save substantial money. Of course, if a
soldier is critically injured or ill they can always go to the military installation emergency room for
treatment or call 911 for assistance. Depending on the nature of the injury or illness, and whether or
not the appropriate physician or specialist is available at the military installation, a soldier

Uses And Gratification Theory
Uses and Gratification is a theory formulated by the professor Elihu Katz in the late 1950 s that
analyzes the relationship between media and people in order to examine questions of how and why
individuals use media to satisfy particular needs.
The theoretical framework was released when the commonest view regarding this topic was the
Classic view. This view, developed at the beginning of the 20th century, is characterised by the
assumption that media are powerful and active tools, capable of strong and uniform effects. Whereas,
the public was addressed as passive, defenseless and not able to face media power. On the contrary,
Uses and Gratification theory focuses on the audience usage of media and aims to explore the reason
why people deliberately use a certain media to fulfill different needs. Differently from the classic
view, the perspective of U G establishes that the audience has power over their media usage.
U G theory is characterised by five key elements or assumptions; firstly, people use media for their
own particular purposes, it means that the audience choose appositely a medium based on their needs
and expectations. Therefore the audience is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Rubik s Cube
Background Rubik s cube is a toy puzzle designed by Ernö Rubik during the mid 1970s. It is a cube
shaped toy consisting of smaller cube pieces, called cubies with 6 faces possessing contrasting colors.
This rather primitive looking phenomenon was exceptionally popular during the 1980s, and peaking in
1980 and 1983 with around 200 million cubes sold worldwide. Even sales today continue to exceed
500,000 sales worldwide each year, consequently earning the title the best selling toy of all time .(
How Rubik s Cube ) Seen as an object of art, the Rubik s Cube brilliance is perceived to reside in its
ability to embody and symbolize the evident contrasts in the human conditions: simplicity and
complexity, order and mayhem, bewilderment and comprehension, as Ernö remarks.(Davis)
Comparably, these traits can be observed when examining the most integral parts of the cube: its
history, design and mechanics, and mathematical applications. History Puzzle makers have been

Around 1983, however, the popularity of the cube began to die down and sales slowed drastically.
That was because the cube stayed in small scale production, but that changed when Seven Towns took
over the marketing, and licensed the Rubik Cube to the Oddzon Company for the United States in
1995. Since then, sales have steadily increased to over 500,000 units a year. ( How Rubik s Cube )
Moreover, in 1980, the cube won the prestigious German Game of the Year award and similar
decorations in France, Britain, and the United States. Also, books covering the cube were
simultaneously on the New York Times best seller list. Finally, today, with more than 350 million
cubes sold and at least one billion imitations in circulation, it is the best selling toy of all time and a
true cultural icon that will forever be recognized.

A Debate On God s Revelation Of God
We must as Gods people stand against the compromise of reinterpreting Genesis to fit in evolution and

more than just a magic number of years. This debate s significance centers on God s revelation of
Himself in Scripture and whether Scripture is relevant today or not. This issue has only become a
debate in the last couple hundred years. Before the Enlightenment, people in Western cultures
accepted the young earth view because the scriptural account of creation was interpreted literally. Now
ideas crashing with other ideas, Hebrew words are being tossed and turned. Moreover with the
continued cross examining of Scripture and with the new discoveries made in science, Christian have
begun to question whether or not the earth is young or old? The worst fall out of the argument has
been division in the body of Christ, were many brothers and sisters have held so tightly to their views
causing disunity within the church. Many people now feel that they must choose between science and
sola scriptura. Actually, the choice is not between science and Scripture. A young earth stance can be

Drosophila Suzukii Research Paper
ABSTRACT
Evaluation of Monitoring for Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in the Field and Laboratory

2016 2017
The spotted wing Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae) is an attacking pest of berries crops.
Unlike most other Drosophila, this insect can oviposit into ripe and ripening berries, so that they make
them unmarketable. D. suzukii is spreading quickly throughout the continental US and they give a
serious damage in horticultural areas and the fruit industry. Spotted wing drosophila (SWD) puts its
eggs in both commercial fruit and wild fruits, so it is of great concern to fruit and vegetable growers. It
became a pest of economic significance, but it is important point that requires early detection,
monitoring and moderation to control it. Last researches show that D. suzukii infests a number of wild
plant species and also those may be harvested commercially like cranberry. Gray dogwood (Cornus
racemose Lam.), Tatarian honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica Linneaus), Mulberry (Morus alba L.),
Nanking cherry (Prunus tomentosa L.), Common chokecherry (Prunus virginiana L.), Common

Memory Retention Of The Presentation Information And Those...
We found that there was no significant difference between the memory scores of those who thought
they had to teach the information and those who were told nothing. Yet, a consistent trend was found
with both dependent variables. Although the trend does not fall within the confidence band, it can be
considered a consistent trend because it is constant for all four different conditions. Refer to Figure 2,
the memory scores were consistently lower when white noise was present, regardless of which
condition the participants were in. In addition, the anxiety levels were slightly higher when white
noise was present regardless of active or passive condition, refer to Figure 3. Our null hypothesis
states that there will be no significant difference in memory retention of the presentation information
between those who are told they must teach the presentation right after and those who are not told
anything, and there will be no difference in anxiety levels when noise is introduced into the classroom.
However, our study tested the hypothesis that the potential of having to speak publicly would enhance
memory retention. Yet, our results proved otherwise.
Opposite to what we hypothesized, the memory for all four groups remained relatively consistent with
one another with respect to the active and passive conditions. Anxiety did not have a major impact in
boosting memory performance, even when white noise was in the background. We found that from the
perspective of the student,

The Tobacco Advertising Ban
Some of the arguments which support the placing of the tobacco advertising ban in India are:
· Some might feel that people s freedom of choice is being affected by this ban imposed by the
government but it could also be argued the state should be able to intervene in a situation where its
subordinates health is at risk, just like a father looks after his underage baby who is not aware of what
is good or harmful for him. The country s government would be doing what is best for its citizens
even if they disagree with the decision as it is being carried for their greater good.
· Countries like Belgium and France declared that banning tobacco was not unconstitutional as the
right to freedom of trade right was not being affected and at the same time the good health of its
nationals was being persued. This same argument can be applied to the people of India and its tobacco
firms as they are still allowed to offer their products in shops and other establishments. The
advertising ban would not hinder their right to trade their products with the community.
(Morris, P., 2011).
· The RJ Reynolds Tobacco company, in the US, was found guilty of trying to incite under age citizens
to smoke and had to remove its mascot, Joe Camel, from its advertising campaign as it was deemed
that this figure was appealing to young people and would increase their interest in starting to smoke. It

Family Vacation Essay
Spending quality time with family is one of my favorite childhood memories, whether it was spending
time outdoors, playing ping pong, or watching a movie. My most meaningful family memory came
from our vacation to Colorado back in 2004; yes, 2004. Although I don t remember all of the events
that transpired, I m able to recall most of the memorable events that took place. It was a cool, misty
morning in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and I could distinctly hear the unmistakable elk calls that
echoed through the mountains. The breeze gently scraped my face as I got into the car to begin the
first day of our family vacation in Colorado. I could hear the car tires gently humming on the road
during this cool, foggy, Colorado morning. As I looked past the lanky pine trees, glistening drops of
dew formed on the tall grass, dancing with the wind. As we moved further down the road, I could see
the tip of the sun barely begin to peek over the steep, snowy mountain peaks; however, the sun was
soon covered by the misty Colorado clouds. This was it: our family vacation!
Ever since the beginning of summer, I was looking forward to one activity in particular on this
vacation: our white water rafting trip. I could just imagine the cool water of the river, and the wind
swiftly rubbing my tiny little face. The trees dancing in the wind, while the birds sing me a gentle
song while I aimlessly float down the river. This adventurous trip was quickly approaching us, as it
was only a day away. I

In today s society, violence is prevalent and the amount of violence per day is rising rapidly. Violence
that may lead to the death of family, friends and loved ones. Even more in today s society there is

Stakeholder management has been recognised as a central part of an organisation s effectiveness.
Stakeholders play important roles as advocates, sponsors, partners and agents of change. Much has
been written about stakeholder relationships in the private sector and many companies now have
dedicated relationship managers and strategies in place to improve and develop external relationships.
However, stakeholder management in the brand management still lags some way behind (Ipsos 2009).
Building a successful brand is effective if brand value is generated. Through the relationship
performance between the relevant stakeholders and the brand, brand value can be created. Jones
(2005) suggests, that one should acknowledge two key points while accessing the stakeholders:
1. Network of relationships / dependency upon multiple stakeholders,
2. Value assessment on the basis of each individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reputations are crucial. While they are hard to win, they are equally easily lost. Understanding
stakeholders helps to build stable relationships and, ultimately, to accomplish your objectives (Ipsos
2009). Research shows that strong reputations, i.e. trust and good communications are key for
consumers to listen and follow companies. This is clearly demonstrated by well known companies that
create strong reputations based on clear values and cultures: innocent drinks, Coca Cola and Toyota, to
name just three (Ipsos

A Cultural Diversity Training Program
With many organizations expanding and becoming more global organizations, whose businesses deal
with other countries, cultural diversity becomes more challenging. That is why it is important for
organizations to create a cultural diversity training program to encourage employee from different
backgrounds to come together and learn each other s belief system which can enhance the
organization s ability to problem solve. To do this successfully an organization needs to create an
organizational climate that promotes a learning organization. Which learning organization was first
coined by Peter Senge (Kopp, 2014). According to Kopp (2014), Senge defined a learning
organization as an organization where people continually expand their ... Show more content on

By having a training program in place of cultural and diversity areas can help prevent the organization
in getting sued or prevent a major lawsuit. That is why organizational leaders are charged with making
sure they are in compliant with Federal and State laws. If an employee feels they have been treated
differently, because of their culture, age, color, religion, or physical disabilities, this could lead to legal
trouble for the organization (Kesee, 2010). One of the organizations that prohibit organizations from
discriminating against workers for any reason is the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission. Human resources can do research on the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission s website, who does provide information on ways for organizations to avoid
discrimination for employer and employees (Keese, 2010). The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission website also contains information on employment laws. Along with reviewing U.S. law,
human resources will also have to look into the legislation of the country the organization has offices
in those countries. That is why it s essential for management and employees to be aware of the
different cultures within the organization, and culture values. An example is knowing other ethnic
holidays, and not just American holiday s and making sure they get the same attention as American
holidays like

The Life of Paul Mccartney
Sir Paul McCartney 1. The individual I have chosen to do my biography assignment on is Paul
McCartney. 2. Paul was born June 18, 1982 in the Anfield section of Liverpool, England; where his
family has been for generations. 3. Paul McCartney is a world famous singer songwriter and musician,
most famous as a member of the iconic pop rock band The Beatles along with John Lennon, George
Harrison and Ringo Starr. After The Beatles, he formed, and was the frontman for, the band Wings. 4.
Paul McCartney was always regarded as the the cute Beatle . He had a baby face and was always very
young looking. Paul has always been known for his big, brown eyes and he had, just like the rest of
The Beatles, a mop top hairstyle. After The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He hadn t even tried to cover up the drug; it was right on top for everyone to see. This resulted in Paul
going to jail for ten day s in Japan and The Beatles tour of Japan being cancelled. There was also a
time when police found strange plants growing at Paul s farm in Scotland the Mull of Kintyre. Paul
was also a frequent user of LSD and although not as much as his counterpart, John Lennon, Paul also
experimented with cocaine and heroin. If I were in Paul s shoes it would ve been very hard to stay
away from the drugs because they were all around him and being a rock star gave him easy access to
all of the drugs he wanted. I would have tried my best to stay away from all of the drugs, and even if I
did happen to use a bit now or then, I would use much less than Paul did. Also, Paul made his
affection for drugs, especially marijuana and LSD, very public. I would ve kept that more to myself to
keep a better public image. 11. Paul s life has had an impact on millions of people around the world
for many, many years. From the thousands of girls screaming his name and passing out at the sight of
him, to the countless people he continues to inspire with his great musical abilities and success.
Through Paul s success he has become a very influential person and he can easily impact people. The
impact Paul has had on people is a very positive one. He, along with the three other Beatles
revolutionized music and helped inspire a sense of

Resurrection In A Tale Of Two Cities

A Tale of Resurrection in Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens incorporates many themes, one being resurrection. This
theme is used time and time again in the novel. Resurrection is revealed not only in the characters, but
in the culture of the book itself. Dickens indicates that resurrection is an influential theme, so much
that he combines it with his characters to make the novel have a deeper meaning. Being recalled to life
or resurrected is similar to being reborn: In A Tale of Two Cities, many characters are reborn ,
meaning that they have a new chance at life (Dingyuan and Xiaohua, 91). Requirements for being
recalled to life are embodied in A Tale of Two Cities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Carton sacrifices his life so Darnay can live. The second time, it takes another death, Sydney Carton s,
to secure Darnay s freedom (Napierkowski and Ciccarelli, 357). The surrender of Carton s life ties into
the requirements. Carton is showing love for Lucie and her husband Darnay, because he wants them to
live happily together. Darnay would be dead, but thanks to Carton s help he is given a new chance at

Transhab Case
TransHab was designed to have inflatable outer layers with a stiff central core. This configuration
would provide the habitat with more packing efficiency as in case of inflatable structures and the stiff
central core will enhance the load carrying capabilities. The central core consisted of 8 longerons,
integrated ductwork, bulkheads, radiation shielding tanks containing water (will protect the crew from
radiations during solar flares) and repositionable launch shelves (which would reposition themselves
once the habitat is in orbit). While designing an inflatable habitat, it is crucial to take into account the
environment to which it will be exposed. Anything thing in space will be exposed to microgravity,

Hence, the hoop stress can be used to decide the diameter (diameter ∝ hoop stress) of the pressure
vessel and choose convenient material with required material strength. The modules of the ISS
(metallic pressure vessels) have a factor of safety (FOS) of 2.0. According to FAA standards (FAA P
8100 2), due to uncertainties associated with fabrics, the FOS was decided to be 4.0 for ultimate.
Kelvar was chosen due to its easy availability, low cost and well know properties. The folding radius
was large with minimal flexing cycles thus ruling out the possibilities of flex cracking. TransHab
contains layers of Nextel with open cell polyurethane foam in between the layers for protection from
micrometeorite and orbital debris. There is a layer of Kevlar behind the layers of Nextel. When a
hypervelocity object hits the Nextel layers, it is shattered into pieces thus slowing down the particles
and increasing the area. When these shattered particles reach the Kevlar layer, they have little velocity
and hence can be stopped from penetrating the

Write An Essay On New Orleans
Hot and humid weather, hurricanes, Mississippi river, jazz, delicious food, famous vacation place, and
relatively high proportion of black people. These are all that I d heard about New Orleans before I
came to this city. A month has passed since I arrived to New Orleans, and I experienced more than I d
knew. But still, although I was aware of the fact that what I had experienced until now are not
everything about New Orleans, I was surprised when I learned about the new aspects of New Orleans
through the service work, class, and the lecture of guest speaker. What primarily provoked me was the
ambivalent situation in New Orleans. Even before I came to Tulane, while looking around several
places in New Orleans with my mother, I found that there is a huge discrepancy between the areas.
Although some areas, such as the downtown near French quarter or the residence area of so called rich
people, were seemed to be very developed and well organized, on the other hand, other areas in the
city were somewhat destroyed, aged, and even smelled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, except few high quality private schools, most schools are public and don t have such a huge
gap since the local governments manage them under the regulations of the central government.
Therefore, first, the concept of the charter school was new to me because there isn t the term of charter
school itself in Korea, and in addition, the great disparity between the schools and between the
availability of students access to apply for better schools was surprising. Moreover, I was bewildered
to hear that some students should come all the way from the opposite side of the school every day,
spending more than an hour. Furthermore, even if they come to school, wasting the precious time, the
quality of the education they receive is not high enough some of them are even below the

Heterotopic Transplant
The surgery itself for the organ transplant is very important and it is critical that everything goes
according to plan. The surgery itself takes about 3 hours. The patient is given anesthesia which helps
the patient relax, control the pain, help keep a healthy heart flow, and control breathing. In a organ
transplantation surgery, there are two different types of transplant. There is a heterotopic transplant
and an orthotopic transplant. There is a major difference between these two types of transplants. In an
heterotopic transplant, the donated organ is placed in a different location and not in the same location
as the organ that s being replaced. Kidney transplants are often performed in the heterotopic method.
In this case, the donated kidney ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transmission of West Nile virus through organ transplantation was suspected. We identified West Nile
virus infection in the organ donor and in all four organ recipients. Encephalitis developed in three of
the organ recipients, and febrile illness developed in one. Three recipients became seropositive for
West Nile virus IgM antibody. (Iwamoto, 7). In this case, a more serious type of disease called the
West Nile Virus spread from the organ donor to the organ recipients through an organ transplantation.
Although this was a rare cause, it shows the potential of transmitting diseases and the potential
dangers of an organ transplant. In another rare case, an organ donor transmitted rabies to their
recipients. This report documenting the transmission of rabies virus from an organ donor to multiple
recipients underscores the challenges of preventing and detecting transmission of unusual pathogens
through transplantation. (Srinivasan, 11). And in this case, the disease was so serious that the
recipients who got the rabies virus actually ended up dying. This goes to show that although it is rare,
it still has the chance of happening and it can be life

Comparing Baroque Styles Of Art And Deliverry Of The Cross
High Renaissance and Baroque Styles The Renaissance and Baroque are two difference styles of art,
but they play an important role in the history of art. Based on the five concepts in Wolfflin s Principles
of Art History to compare and contrast two artworks: Delivery of the Keys (about 1481 1482) by
Pietro Perugino, which is created with high Renaissance style, and Raising of the Cross (about 1610
1611) by Peter Paul Rubens is created with Baroque style.
Although Delivery of the keys and Raising of the Cross are more than 100 year apart, they both
succeed in holding the values of art and religion. Besides, Delivery of the Keys by Perugino is

Analysis Of Tim Burton Creative Style
Tim Burton, a producer, director, screenwriter, and author, known for his distinctive style of horror
and fantasy blended with reality, created two of the most critically acclaimed films in our generation.
His creative style even led to the invention of a new word, Burtonesque (Renee). Known for
illustrating stories with an eccentric or gothic twist, such as his reinterpretation of Roald Dahl s
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Edward Scissorhands, he manipulates various literary and
cinematic techniques to display his perspective of fantasy, typically emphasizing the negative
elements. The films he produces visualize stories about isolated and atypical characters. Straying from
society s status quo for movies, his unorthodox outlook connects with the inner vulnerability of
humans, therefore making his projects box office successes. In his works, he manages to incorporate
themes of human depravity and overall horror into supposedly happy fairy tales. In his movies, Tim
Burton explores dark and disturbing visuals, an assortment of lighting effects, an unconventional
sequence of events, and different styles of music, to demonstrate the negative aspects of society and
the treatment of individuals society recognizes as inferior or abnormal.
Certain colors correspond with specific emotions or feelings ( Color Meanings, Color Symbolism,
Meaning of Colors ). For example, red possibly represents anger, passion, and love, and blue
represents sadness, serenity, and despair

  • 2. Why Is Seatbelts Important Nowadays, most people own cars and many people are riding cars on a daily basis. Although we sometimes hear on the news about people dying by car accidents, there are much more cases when people are not injured by car accidents thanks to the range of safety equipment designed to keep the people on the car safe in the event of a car crash. The range of safety equipment is supported in the background by the modern advanced science. First of all, seatbelts are installed in every kind of car that is being sold. Seatbelts take a very important role in cars because it works in many ways to protect the passengers from danger and car accidents. One of the reasons why seatbelts are important is because seatbelts reduce the speed of a body of a passenger as it gets an experience of an abrupt decreasing of speed. Since the velocity of the car and the passenger is independent, even when the car crashed into a wall and the velocity suddenly decreases to zero, the body of a passenger will want to still move forwards. The second reason is that seatbelts prevent passengers from slamming parts of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Implications of Health Economic Concepts of Health Care Healthcare is an industry that encompasses various factors to ensure that it s operating efficiently. Health care professionals have an obligation to comprehend the role that health economics plays in regards to the demand and utilization of health care. The government plays an enormous part in areas such as financing and the delivery of care; therefore, the organization s decision maker must learn the economic functions and its benefits to the health care sector. Delivering outstanding medical care is equally as important as understanding demand and supply, available resources and the cost to provide care. According to Pendzialek, Simic, Stock Pendzialek (2016), An example of price elasticity can occur when the number or persons enrolled in a health plan changes when the cost of the premium rises or declines. Unbeknownst to a majority of consumers, they play a bigger part in how the price elasticity transpires and how their decisions impact the health demand curve. Health Measures The two components that are used to assess health measures are morbidity and mortality. Morbidity is the percentage of individuals diagnosed with certain conditions along with the number of hospitalizations. Pregnancy has the potential cause other conditions that were not present before conceiving. Diabetes and hypertension are two health conditions that can occur during pregnancy. According to Kilpatrick Berg (2016), Identifying morbidity in post partum women can be based on ICU admissions and blood transfusion that exceeds four units of blood. The more people with ideal health will lower the morbidity rate, however as health declines and new conditions arise that will contribute to an increase in morbidity rates. Mortality is not solely the totality of deaths it s the number of people who die prematurely. John Patrick Shanley Doubt Play Analysis Morgan Young Janis Roeton English Composition 2 April, 13, 2015 Paper Two Set In St. Nicholas Catholic Church and School in the Bronx in 1964, the play Doubt by John Patrick Shanley arose some major conflict between the nun, Sister Aloysius and Father Flynn. The conflict of the play lies in the constant belief of a strict nun named Sister Aloysius trying to jeopardize Father Flynn s reputation in believing that Father Flynn, the Priest has done something unthinkable to one of the students that attended the school. Based on her own intuition the strict nun believes that the Priest has been molesting a young 12 year old African American boy named Donald Muller. Child sexual abuse, and maltreatment prevention has definitely evolved in a complex policy environment with in the past forty years. Despite decades of public efforts to combat child abuse and child neglect, child maltreatment remains a significant problem in the United States of America. In the early 2000s, several priest molestation scandals broke that have rippled worldwide. Many cases were not prosecutable; as the evidence uncovered was from so long ago that the Statute of Limitations had expired. As a result of some of the cases, there was a push to alter these statutes so that adults who were molested as children would have a chance to testify and seek justice years after the event. In just one Australian state, Victoria, it is estimated between 600 and 10,000 children were abused since the 1930s. It is estimated that at least 4% of Roman Catholic priests serving in the United States during the first half of the 20th Century abused minors. What gets me is it s the same story every time and every place. Bishops appoint priests that they know have abused children in the past to new parishes and new communities and more abuse happens. • 5. The Education Medium For The Course As part of the teaching team instructing a first year course in American History, there is a lot to cover in a semester. My part of the module consists of educating the students about slavery in nineteenth century America. Solomon Northup s memoir, 12 Years A Slave will be part of the curriculum, since it is an authentic piece of history in American slavery. However, as the instructor, I need to decide what educational medium to use. I have the choice of the book/memoir itself or the academy award winning film. Both mediums have their advantages and disadvantages as a teaching aid. After some consideration, I will be using the film as the education medium for the course. While the book is a fountain of information, I believe the film will be more beneficial for a first year history course. This film will truly engage the students and give them a better understanding of the unfortunate events of historical slavery. Though, the film is not the primary evidence of slavery, it does portray authenticity. As long as the film does not forfeit its historical accuracies for entertainment value, then it should be used as an educational tool. However, loss of accurate historical information is not an issue since this Hollywood film manages to accurately depict history. For starters, the actors and actresses that were cast were true to their detailed descriptions in the book. The students can visualize the characters and their personalities in the film. It could drive the students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Summary Of The Post American World In the book The Post American World, by Fareed Zakaria, he spoke of the three economical shifts in the world throughout history. Each one of these shifts has changed the world drastically, with political, culture, and of course, economical differences in every country in the world. What Zakaria had brought to my attention very early in the book was that we are currently living through the third economical shift right now. To be honest, I had never really thought about where the world was heading, and if I hadn t read this book, I would ve thought that the United States would remain the main superpower in the world and the rest of the world would sort of stay at their current status. As the United States is for the first time in a long time subject to a change in the world rather than making that change, the United States will have to make some major changes to either keep up or get ahead of the other rising countries. As Zakaria describes these possible changes it would literally change life in the U.S that we have now, but change it for the better. This is shown by Zakaria s confidence in the U.S to always do what has to be done, no matter what the circumstances. From this book Zakaria has taught me and all of of his other readers that big changes are coming. That history as we know it is slowly being rewritten as we know it. That what was seen as impossible even 10 years ago is a reality and we are living through it, how exciting! • 7. Hd Tv Transition In a world of Hulu, HD TV, and online streaming, the television industry has had no choice but to embrace shifting consumer trends within the industry. Now that Internet streaming has allowed consumers to watch whatever they want, whenever they want, it is becoming harder for cable providers to keep up with consumer demand. Television broadcasters must take advantage of the bandwidth that they have available to them if they are to compete in the viewing market. With streaming sites such as Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix gaining competitive advantage in the market, television broadcasters can no longer sit back and continue to run as they always have. Accordingly, these television stations have begun making much needed modifications. Since 2009, television broadcasters have begun shutting down their analog systems and converting to strictly digital in compliance with the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act. In February of 2009, the FCC required all hybrid television producers, including companies such as Time Warner Cable and Verizon, to shut down their analog systems and convert to digital transmissions only. • 8. Romanticism, By Charles Baudelaire Romanticism is an artistic revolt that originated in Europe in the 18th century. It rejected the rationalism, logical thinking, and societal norms associated with the Age of Enlightenment. Rather, it embraced ideals that came out of the French Revolution. The works of art focused on promoting free thinking and provoking feeling from its viewers. To further explain Romanticism, poet and critic Charles Baudelaire once wrote that romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in exact truth, but in way of feeling. Various paintings throughout the 18th and 19th century helped to define this time in art history. During the Romanticism era, it was through the emphasis on emotion, freedom, and the everyday life that the Romantic principles of the sublime and the picturesque were expressed. One of the various themes present in Romanticism is emotion. A major part of the Romanticism movement was placing focus on emotion as opposed to reason. In paintings where a central theme is emotion, artists use the sublimity and picturesque aspects of nature to symbolize feeling or convey a narrative. In The Lady of Shalott (1888) by John William Waterhouse, the subject of the painting is a woman, sitting alone in a boat. It takes inspiration from a scene from a poem of the same name by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem tells the story of the young woman and her unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. This Battle was also one of the last important stands of the American Indians against the United States of America. The Battle took place in the Montana Territory between the combined Indian tribes of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes. For counselors to appropriately facilitate many types of group therapy they need to develop certain skills. These skills can be learned through cross training. Some counselors may find they only like to facilitate certain types of groups, but they can overcome their personal discomfort by learning the strategies that are available to assist them. His life was dedicated to the founding of a philosophical and mathematical system in which all sciences were logical. Descartes was born in 1596 in Touraine, France. His education consisted of attendance to a Jesuit school of La Fleche. He studied a liberal arts program that emphasized philosophy, the humanities, science, and math. His God must also be omnipotent to do the things he wished to describe later, so he proved God to be omnipotent. The main literary work in which he published these proofs was his Meditations. The other major philosophical work, which was publisher later, was his Discourse on Method. These two main works have paved the path for modern philosophy throughout the world. Although Descartes proved the existence of God, he did not believe him to be imminent, but rather, transcendent. He was by definition a Deity. He believed that God created the world and the laws by which it works. Then, set the cosmos in motion by these natural laws and simply watches it operate. Once Descartes proved his own existence and that of God s, he proceeded on to the sciences. He showed that mathematics was the truest of all sciences. Descartes studied math intensely at the Jesuit school. His zeal for the subject continued into his later life. Gradually, he became more and more disgusted with the current system of math. He sought to revise it and ended up revolutionizing it. Math today is based upon the Cartesian system. Descartes is called the quot;Father of Modern Mathematics quot; for several reasons. In designing a questionnaire that focuses on open ended questions the main concern should be on determining the way the responses will be quantified. Open ended questions are often used in research to clarify closed questions or as a means of generating ideas. In both cases it is generally assumed that the longer and more detailed the response to an open ended question the better (Graziano et al, 2000). • 22. The Importance Of Superstitions In Sports One doesn t acquire superstitions, curses, or obsession out of nowhere towards a sports team. It s something that s involuntarily part of someone when they participate in these gatherings with other sports fans. Having a passion specifically for a team could get a crowd riled up, so when they begin to lose, people try to generalize what could have caused the circumstance. Fear of one s team being in a losing streak, who never seem to win, sports fans try to hold on to a sense of hope and something to believe in that could explain the reasoning as to why they haven t won for a period of time. However, there is no logical evidence that superstitious or curses are the cause of a team lost in a game. Being a fan of a sports team, specifically baseball, could result in being prone to believing the curses or superstitious that comes with the team when they have lost. People are always trying to fill in the gaps of what could cause such a loss, and when they can t find a legitimate reason they direct their attention to superstition. Many attribute it to events that occurred earlier that could be the cause of a team losing, even though the event could have no relation to the outcome of the game. International Differences Of Well Being As I continued my research, Ruut Veenhoven stated this question in Chapter 11 of the book International Differences of Well Being the discussions centers on whether happiness is similar for all humans or rather something that varies across cultures (328). This question interests me, because it is a question that I think is very important. We all have a wide range of different priorities and values. First, he chooses to define happiness: I use the word happiness for a subjective state of mind, which I define as the overall appreciation of one s life as a whole. Happiness is the sum of pleasures and pains . Happiness in this sense is synonymous with life satisfaction and subjective well being (Veenhoven 329). Veenhoven, then, breaks up the questions How universal is happiness into sub questions because it is too broad to answer. Veenhoven says that, although the mood is something we are aware of it is mostly not in the foreground of our consciousness. It is still assessable, and we can estimate how well we feel most of the time, unlike babies. Overall, Veenhoven finds that the circumstances of being happy seem to be the same across the world and so are the consequences of enjoying life or not (329). Veenhoven s use of surveys and statistics makes his research believable to his audience. He shows that being happy is not complicated, and most people know whether they are happy with life or not. His story of the woman who wanted chrysanthemums was just a facade and a devious scheme to get work. The chrysanthemum is cut every year before it blooms. Elisa said that helping them bloom is the hardest part. This is also a way the flower is like Elisa. Even though she is cut down, she tries to grow right back so to speak. In this way she is strong like the flower, but also very delicate in the fact that it only takes one man to humiliate her and cut her right back down to size. Elisa is a very strong woman, and the word strong is language that is used quite often in this story. Like the strong, resilient chrysanthemum so is Elisa. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the leadership in the Army is very supportive of soldiers attending medical appointments in order to maintain a high level of medical readiness, which is a critical aspect of the Army being able to conduct its mission. Soldiers do not see a physician when they are injured or ill initially. The first line of medical screening includes unit medical personnel, which includes medics and the unit physician s assistant. If it is determined that the soldier will require treatment or diagnosis from a physician they are then referred to a doctor. This is a key way that the Army saves money on its no cost medical coverage. By not having a soldier be seen by a physician immediately and having a lower ranking medic, who gets paid much less, conduct the initial assessment and possibly remedy the situation, the Army save substantial money. This view, developed at the beginning of the 20th century, is characterised by the assumption that media are powerful and active tools, capable of strong and uniform effects. • 41. Family Vacation Essay Spending quality time with family is one of my favorite childhood memories, whether it was spending time outdoors, playing ping pong, or watching a movie. My most meaningful family memory came from our vacation to Colorado back in 2004; yes, 2004. Although I don t remember all of the events that transpired, I m able to recall most of the memorable events that took place. It was a cool, misty morning in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and I could distinctly hear the unmistakable elk calls that echoed through the mountains. The breeze gently scraped my face as I got into the car to begin the first day of our family vacation in Colorado. I could hear the car tires gently humming on the road during this cool, foggy, Colorado morning. As I looked past the lanky pine trees, glistening drops of dew formed on the tall grass, dancing with the wind. As we moved further down the road, I could see the tip of the sun barely begin to peek over the steep, snowy mountain peaks; however, the sun was soon covered by the misty Colorado clouds. This was it: our family vacation! Ever since the beginning of summer, I was looking forward to one activity in particular on this vacation: our white water rafting trip. I could just imagine the cool water of the river, and the wind swiftly rubbing my tiny little face. The trees dancing in the wind, while the birds sing me a gentle song while I aimlessly float down the river. This adventurous trip was quickly approaching us, as it was only a day away. I ... • 43. Relationship Between Stakeholders And Stakeholders In the modern era of marketing, brand management has proved its importance by being a widely discussed topic. While brand value was primarily connected with customers only, its importance into non customer areas has been acknowledged. Brand equity and brand value are argued on their relation with relevant stakeholders. In this assignment I am reflecting on the importance of managing these stakeholder relationships. Stakeholder management has been recognised as a central part of an organisation s effectiveness. Stakeholders play important roles as advocates, sponsors, partners and agents of change. Much has been written about stakeholder relationships in the private sector and many companies now have dedicated relationship managers and strategies in place to improve and develop external relationships. However, stakeholder management in the brand management still lags some way behind (Ipsos 2009). Building a successful brand is effective if brand value is generated. Through the relationship performance between the relevant stakeholders and the brand, brand value can be created. Jones (2005) suggests, that one should acknowledge two key points while accessing the stakeholders: 1. Network of relationships / dependency upon multiple stakeholders, 2. Value assessment on the basis of each individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reputations are crucial. While they are hard to win, they are equally easily lost. That is why it is important for organizations to create a cultural diversity training program to encourage employee from different backgrounds to come together and learn each other s belief system which can enhance the organization s ability to problem solve. To do this successfully an organization needs to create an organizational climate that promotes a learning organization. Which learning organization was first coined by Peter Senge (Kopp, 2014). • 51. Analysis Of Tim Burton Creative Style Tim Burton, a producer, director, screenwriter, and author, known for his distinctive style of horror and fantasy blended with reality, created two of the most critically acclaimed films in our generation. His creative style even led to the invention of a new word, Burtonesque (Renee). Known for illustrating stories with an eccentric or gothic twist, such as his reinterpretation of Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Edward Scissorhands, he manipulates various literary and cinematic techniques to display his perspective of fantasy, typically emphasizing the negative elements. The films he produces visualize stories about isolated and atypical characters. Straying from society s status quo for movies, his unorthodox outlook connects with the inner vulnerability of humans, therefore making his projects box office successes. In his works, he manages to incorporate themes of human depravity and overall horror into supposedly happy fairy tales. In his movies, Tim Burton explores dark and disturbing visuals, an assortment of lighting effects, an unconventional sequence of events, and different styles of music, to demonstrate the negative aspects of society and the treatment of individuals society recognizes as inferior or abnormal.
