The Feminine Mystique Summary
In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental notion of the
mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further explain
this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she
establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus
men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of
alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived ideas about gender
roles. Moreover, she makes use of logos, when she provides her readers with statistics about how

Human Flourishing theory of property holds that [t]he moral foundation of property, both as a concept
and as an institution, is human flourishing. The purpose of property is to enable people a foundation to
enable people to live an objectively well lived life, therefore property decisions should be structured
around this goal. Under this theory property owners owe obligations to members of their communities
to perform certain duties to enable people to have necessary capabilities in order to live well lived
lives, owners are responsible for the continued well being of these communities which have nurtured
and continue to nurture the development of their personal capabilities essential to their own
flourishing. Furthermore, the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at it through the lenses of different theories of property we get conflicting answers of what
decision should be made. In this situation, the Beacon Hill Civic Association has made the question
easier by offering to pay for materials and labor to make the new handicapped ramps fit and maintain
the historic nature. What we also see is that there is a real lacking in the theories of property of taking
other laws and fairness into consideration. We do not get easy answers and the law is not reflective of
just on property theory and therefore we must find a way to work these together to address the
growing need for disability accessibility while attempting to maintain historic preservation of cultural

Paulo Freire The Banking Concept Of Education
Paulo Freire believes that the world is primarily dominated by the banking concept in regards to
education. Under the banking concept, Freire describes the relationship between students and teachers
as involv[ing] a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient, listening objects (the students) (216).
Freire later goes on to symbolize students as empty receptacles awaiting teachers to dump their
knowledge freely to fill the empty spaces. Memorization, obedience, oppression, and dominance all
describe the inner workings of the banking concept. Students lose their ability to become cogitative
thinkers as they memorize lectures, never speak their voice or dissent to teachers, and give all of their
freedom to their professors. Students then become slaves to the classroom, and rather than a symbiotic
relationship existing between students and teachers, the road is very one way. If Freire were to analyze

In section two of the piece, Rodriguez even admits that with many of the books he did not understand
the true meaning. Before closing Section II, Rodriguez states I read in order to acquire a point of view.
I vacuumed books for epigrams, scraps of information, ideas, themes anything to fill the hollow within
me and make me feel educated (350). This points readers in the direction that the banking concept
molds students to be mindless receptacles awaiting dumped knowledge; reading then is used to soak in
the word count and not the actual meaning behind the piece. In The Banking Concept of Education,
Freire makes an interesting point:
The interests of the oppressors lie in changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation
which oppresses them ...the more the oppressed can be led to adapt to that situation, the more easily
they can be dominated

Oil Production Of Nigeria s Niger Essay
Final TNC paper Oil production in Nigeria s Niger Delta began in 1956. Ever since then, the Delta
communities have recognized unrest as oil was being distributed in profitable quantities. Oil has been
Nigeria s leading export product for more than six decades. Even though, oil has given Nigeria a
tremendous economic boost, nearly sixty percent of that oil production has been carried out under
Shell s regulation, and during these past six decades, there has been enormous environmental
degradation because of frequent oil spills and gas flaring. This has led to a polluted fish ponds and
declining growth of crops in Niger communities. Shell has personally financed Nigerian militants to
insure the production of oil, and this has led to brutal murders and illegal executions of community
members who tried to protest the damages that shell was creating to their environment. So why and
how is Shell still operating and still committing human right crimes in Nigeria? This paper will
explain why Shell has dominated Nigeria since the 1950s, how the company has damaged the lives of
numerous communities, insured the production of oil to this day through militant use, and still
managed to separate themselves from the many years of violence that they founded.
Shell Oil Company, also known as Royal Dutch Shell is an international oil company that is not only
one of America s largest oil and natural gas and gasoline producers and marketers but also amongst

including metalworking, leather arts, carpentry, drawing, painting and sculpting. When he was 20
years old he qualified for membership as a master artist in Florence s Guild of Saint Luke and
established his first workshop. However, he continued to collaborate with his teacher for an additional

Francisco Goya The Third Of May
Francisco Goya brings oils to life in this painting titled The Third of May, 1808 to life around the year
of 1814 on a canvas frame of 104.7 inches by 135.8 inches of canvas. Goya painted this piece in
remembrance of hundreds of Spanish freedom fighters that were killed by French after Napoleon set
out to concur Spain. Goya also painted an oil painting entitled The Second of May, 1808 that was the
same size and depicts the rebellion that the Spaniards help lead (Zappella, Christine 2017).
In The Third of May, 1808, you can see the lines of the guns from the men on the right drawing your
eye to the men being shot at on the left. While the soldiers wear mostly dark clothes the few to the
front grows lighter in their hue as to not be forgotten by the bright light being shown on the victims of
the painting. Behind this scene, there are people in dark clothing or ones that almost fade into the hill
behind them, that are cowering in fear. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The negative space of the painting seems to be greater than the positive, even though the box that
seems to be emitting the light seems to be in the middle of the painting. I say this because despite the
light that is on the ground showing the blood on the street, the man standing in a surrendered stance,
and the few soldiers that are highlighted yet with still some shadows there is great darkness in the
painting. The left corners are darker or shadowed, sky of the painting is black and shows just an
outline of a town and what seems to be people coming from it, and the soldiers on the far right are

Protocol Stack, Subnetting And Results
Introduction In this report, I will discuss 3 sections: Protocol Stack, Subnetting and Results. Within
the protocol stack section, I will explain how the encapsulation process works within each layer of
both TCP/IP IOS/OSI models. The explanations will relate to the stages which occur within the
process of requesting a web page from the web server via PC0 over the Wide Area Network (WAN).
Within the subnetting section, I will produce a guide on subnetting an IP address. Within, the results
section, screenshots of composing and receiving email will be shown, also screenshots displaying the
webpage of web server and outputs of 2 show commands on routing and switching devices. Protocol
Stack There are 2 different protocol stacks; TCP/IP and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, within the WAN connection, to request a webpage from PC0 located within the Birmingham site,
the DNS protocol is used to determine the domain name whereas the HTTP application protocol
manages the way a web server web client interact. When requesting for the webpage, DNS protocol
sends data to the next 2 layers of the OSI Model in order to firstly encrypt the data within the
Presentation layer and then the dialogue is organized and data exchange is managed within session
layer. Data remains as one block during these 3 stages. Within the next layer (Transport layer) of both
models, data is segmented and a port number is attached to each segment which identifies the
application which should receive the data on receiving device. Port numbers are attached when the
TCP header is added. TCP UDP are the 2 protocols functioning on this layer. TCP is used for reliable
connections whereas UDP is used for unreliable connection. When referring back to the scenario of
requesting a webpage, data will be segmented and port number 80 will be attached in order for web
server s HTTP service to receive the data then the segments will be forwarded on using the TCP
protocol (Jaro., 2010). Segments are encapsulated into packets when forwarded to Network Layer
(Internet Layer on TCP/IP Model), the Network layer implements logical addressing to the packets. In
the scenario of requesting for

Competitive Advantage Of New Belgium Brewing Company
Competitive advantage is important in any company s market structure. A good example of
competitive advantage is when a customer asks why he or she should purchase this product over the
company s competitor s product (Lambardo, 2017). For a company to obtain a substantial competitive
advantage, a company has to gain a customer base that trusts their products over their competition s
product. For example, in the beer industry, Anheuser Busch has created beer products that obtain a
strong competitive advantage over their competitors. Budweiser was able to create this competitive
advantage because they obtained a strong market structure. Also, there is a huge relation between
company brand and competitive advantage (Abbas Kraidy, 2017). For New Belgium brewing
company, the brand and social responsibility are they key competitive advantages. ... Show more

How Does Buffy The Vampire Slayer Symbolism
Buffy is a woman known for being strong, smart, and independent. The show, Buffy the Vampire
Slayer, teaches a multitude of life lessons, not to judge a book by its cover and that actions speak
louder than words. Even though Buffy has incredible strength and is seen as an independent woman,
she is still a teenager, within the episode Hush, she symbolizes typical teenage struggles. Near the
beginning of the episode, Buffy is unable to focus during class instead she continuously daydreams.
Buffy daydreaming in class is symbolic to typical high school students. This is symbolic of typical
teenage struggles because teenagers are typically tired during class or may they hit a point where they
become uninterested in the subject being taught so they resort to daydreaming, allowing their mind to
go elsewhere. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But she continuously becomes nervous when it comes down to expressing her feelings to him. While
Riley and Buffy are walking in the school s grotto Riley tries to ask Buffy if she would like to hang

subject. Another encounter occurs on the street at night, even though Buffy cannot talk she still tries to
avoid showing her true feelings towards Riley until he kisses her. Then near the end of the episode,
Riley steps into Buffy s dorm room explaining to her that they need to talk about what had happened
the other night. Buffy becomes tongue tied not knowing what to say about that night. Teenagers are
still young, but are still growing mentally and physically so they are reaching the stage in life where
they start to have built up a strong feeling for a certain someone because of their looks or even their

Main Idea and Passage Outline Ephesians 2:1 7: Paul prays Being Alive in God. Form a chiasm

In Eph. 2: 1 7, the grace of God collides with man s sinful state of being, in this passage we gain
insight into the heart of man and the heart of God. Historical Context The author of Ephesians was
Paul during the time 60 61 A.D. while Paul was imprisoned in Rome. The location was Ephesus, also
known as Asia Minor, where the population or size was 250,000, it was the only city that was bigger
than Rome and Alexander. The economy was a prosperous commercial center, it was also trade based
and Roman per mental, the economy was very well over all. The culture was the melting pot and they
didn t hate the Jews. They were a very religiously pluralistic environment, they were also very
religious tolerant and also believed in magic. The role of Ephesus was being the light in the middle of
the darkness, the main focus being the church (Frank S. Thielman). When Paul started the church in
Ephesus, he deeply cared for the congregation, it showed in his writing as he tries to assure the people
of the love and grace of God and remind them the place they hold in Paul s heart and God s heart.
Ephesians is the good news book, Paul writes this during his prison stay and is able to look at the
church despite what he may be going through and reflect on God s greater purpose. Paul points out in
Eph. 2:1 7 that God by grace has raised them up to

This method would aid the hotel in saving hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. A technique known
as Use occasion positioning strategy can be used in order for travelers, tourists, and vacationers to
view a hotel stay based on events and times that caused them to be at the location. Customers will be
drawn to the hotel and will definitely spend a night or two; the latter would benefit Amber Inn Suites
hotel.
Recommendation
The mission of the hotel is to cater to a professional clientele who is likely to increase the revenues of
Amber Inn. These kinds of patrons do not worry about price since most of the times they are covered
by the Company they work for and they tend to have a prolonged stay. The necessities of those
customers are more regular than the individuals that are on a vacation trip; thus, there is no difficulty
to find out what do to. For instance, internet services would suffice those on a business trip whereas
those on a leisure trip would worry about entertainment such as live music. Some researchers
suggested that, the publicity is unnecessary in determining which hotel to choose. Internet can be a
primary factor, as a sales element such as hotels.com. I advise excluding or decreasing ad for almost

The Effects Of E Cigarettes On The United States
E cigarettes have exploded onto the scene in the past three years. Whole stores dedicated to these
devices have opened their doors to the public and business is thriving. E cigarettes are battery charged
devices that have an atomizer, or heating element, in them to vaporize liquid nicotine. The user is able
to inhale this vapor and get the nicotine without the other 4,000 chemicals present in tobacco cigarette
smoke (Schroeder). Nicotine is a chemical that is produced by the tobacco plant. People have
discovered that by smoking the leaves of a tobacco plant the nicotine in the leaves is delivered into the
bloodstream. Nicotine by itself is not an awful drug as far as drugs go, although it is highly addictive,
it is the tar in cigarettes that does so much damage. Tobacco use remains the number one preventable
cause of death in the U.S. with 480,000 Americans dying prematurely from tobacco related disease.
Kicking this habit remains difficult for most (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Mark
Twain once wrote It s easy to quit smoking, I ve done it hundreds of times.
There have not been any new medications for help with smoking cessation within the last ten to
twelve years and e cig activists ask, why not e cigarettes? These advocates believe e cigarettes can be
incorporated into a smoking plan that works and will save thousands of lives (The Consumer
Advocates for Smoke free Alternatives Association). E cigarette companies maintain that their goal is

Persuasive Essay On Deforestation
Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of wood.
Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the destruction or
removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue deforestation links
directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate change as well as several
health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but not everyone has the same
perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do not believe that climate change is
an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation because they are unaware or because they
do not care about anything beside themselves. I became interested in this topic after knowing that in
countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people are less healthy. Although Canada does not
struggle with deforestation as much compared to China and the US, I do not want the same to happen.
One issue that deforestation causes is extinction the permanent loss of species. Each species is unique
and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging creates jobs and
lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where will they go when they
no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species that have ever existed are
now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental repercussion. All living things are
connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer be balanced. The government need to
raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material
made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a substitute for wood in houses. This method can
save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to construction. Second of all, deforestation has many
unexpected effects to the environment and may result in negative consequences such as climate
change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they produce oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with
purifying the air and controlling the climate. When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees
will be released back into the

On the 8th of October 2015, we visited the Royal Exchange Theatre; the largest theatre in the round in
Britain seating 750 people, situated in the centre of Manchester. We watched Arthur Miller s The
Crucible directed by Caroline Steinbeis. The original play was performed at the Martin Beck Theatre
and won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1953. Set designer, Max Jones managed to capture the
audience s attention immediately with his minimalistic but intriguing set design. Wooden poles stood
towering outside the stage, baring a striking resemblance to gallows in which women who were
accused of being witches were hung on in the 1600s. The prominent poles were used as a metaphor for

As Proctor made the decision to retract his confession water began to stream out from the centre of the
stage in which he was stood. This was a symbolic use of water to represent cleansing that he was

Rebecca Nurse. I didn t think the use of water, as a special effect was relevant to the narrative; it
confused me, as it wasn t clear exactly why the water had any relevance to the plot. Alternatively, for
Elizabeth who was stood next to John trying to persuade him to confess so that he ll live, the water
could have represented devastation. Although she wasn t crying in the scene the flowing water was a
metaphor for her tears and told us about her inner emotion, which she was keeping enclosed as a
typical obedient Puritan wife. This made the audience feel deeply moved, as we were able to

Crisis Management Examples
Crisis Management Crisis management is the management of operations during the actual crisis (in
the midst of the event) and the management of the business before, during, and after the crisis. Most
crises require management from the outside in and the inside out by the management team (Nykiel,

example internal crisis in the hospitality industry include a breakout of a food borne illness in a

Disadvantages Of Juvenile Correctional Methods
Juvenile correctional methods are a key source when it comes to helping treat the juveniles that are in
need of help while they are in a correctional facility. These methods can be a different yet rewarding to
the juveniles that are wanting to better themselves. Such methods are single sex facilities as well as
coed facilities. The importance of single sex programing is reflected in the debate among juvenile
justice experts and practitioners concerning the advantages and disadvantages of coed verses single
sexed juvenile correctional facilities (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). During the research it is known
that there are positive and negative aspects of both that need to be compared as well as contrasted
against one another in order to find the balance of both and analyzing them by economic issues,
preparation for the outside world, programmatic resources, and cohesion by focusing on the major
points within the subjects. In analyzing both single sex coed facilities the perspective of scripture will
not only help support the major points, but it will bring more life in a more Godly perspective. While
there are many issues that must be taken into consideration when designing a juvenile facility, we
would assert that (whenever possible) single sex or coed environments could be considered best
practice, including living arrangements, dayrooms, and educational spaces (Ruddell Thomas, 2009,

Importance Of Gladiators
Historically, gladiator battles were a very complicated issue. This is because most people think that the
gladiator battles were completely fair. However they weren t. This topic is misguided because no one
thinks about how the gladiators were chosen, the equipment they used, and finally how the audience
influenced whether they died or not.
Gladiator battles were unfair because the gladiators didn t have a choice. When gladiator battles
started, the people that were the gladiators were either slaves or prisoners of a war. And because they
were slaves or prisoners, they didn t have a choice if they wanted to be a gladiator or not. While you

According to Hope Babowice, the author of dailyherald.com, Around five thousand gladiators died
each year during the Roman empire which lasted till the 5th century. If you do the math, that is two
million five hundred thousand people that died in gladiator battles. The last thing that was unfair about
the equipment is that when an emperor fought against a gladiator, he would weaken him. He did this
by either taking away almost all of his armor, or he would give the gladiator a wooden sword while
the emperor was able to use a steel sword. This shows me that the equipment that the gladiators used
was unfair.
Finally, the last thing that was unfair was how the audience influenced if the gladiators lived or died.
The reason why I say this is because sometimes the audience could choose if the gladiators would die.
The way they would do this is by giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. What a thumbs up means is
that it was a excellent fight, and they spare the losing gladiator s life. But that usually wasn t the case.
They most likely would give a thumbs down, and that meant that the winning gladiator would strike
his opponent with a sword. They did this because the audience found it entertaining. Also, according
to history.com they said that the audience was unfair to the gladiators, because they yell things like
burn him, or flog him, which also influenced whether the gladiators would die or not. Even if the

To examine whether this association differs by body mass index (BMI)
To examine various characteristics of exposure including type of statin, dose of statin, and
recency/duration of statin use in relation to VTE risk

This study will be a population based cohort study.
Study population
The study population will consist of all adult patients aged 40 79 years during the period 1995 2015 in

Lucky Luciano In the late 1800s and early 1900s, immigration to the United States was rapid. Many of
these immigrants faced discrimination and unfair hiring practices. Due to the shortage of jobs and
earning barely enough to survive, these immigrants started gangs to carry out lucrative business. This
was the birth of the mob in America. The mob started out as loosely held together gangs and
sometimes an overboss was in charge. It later evolved into organized crime as we know today. New
immigrants joined the already existing gangs and one of those immigrants was Salvatore Lucania,
later known as Lucky Luciano. Luciano turned the mob into a business that made millions off of

Roles Of Women In Aeneus
Roles of Women in Virgil s Aeneid and in the Gospel of Luke The women in ancient Roman
patriarchal society as seen in Virgil s Aeneid were limited by societal gendered roles and were
undervalued by men. Contrastingly, Hebrew women as seen in the Gospel of Luke were viewed as
equal to men because both were made in the image and likeness of God. Women were not important in
the epic story of the founding of Rome whereas women were crucial in Jesus mission to preach the
word of God. This essay will look at the roles of Creusa, Dido, and Lavina in the Aeneid and of Mary,
Elizabeth, and Mary Magdalene in the Gospel of Luke. Roman society valued the tradition of law in
the hands of the paterfamilias in which the father held absolute power over his wife, children, and
slaves. The respect for fathers extended into the community and into politics creating a male
dominated society. Women were subordinate to either their father or their husband. Despite their lower
position in society, women were still expected to uphold Roman virtues such as pietas, the duty to one
s family and country. Pietas for women referred to their duty to their family, especially to their
husbands. Once a woman was married, she was expected to act honorably and respectably by
remaining chaste and doing nothing else except for her household duties. Roman women were
expected to stay out of public life and especially to stay out of politics. Throughout the Aeneid, the
hero, Aeneas, had relations with three

For the most part, women hold the majority of these service sector jobs; thus, the low wages in these

especially minority women hold a disproportionate percentage, in relation to their overall share of
employment in the region, of low wage jobs such as cashiers, personal and home care aides, child care

metro Milwaukee s workforce, they hold 46.1 percent of the region s jobs as home health aides, 31.6

Although many people argue that there are some benefits of this contest such as build up the

negative psychological effects and interferes in child development worldwide. The Toddlers and

The European Union And The United Kingdom
The European Union and the United Kingdom have a long history. Winston Churchill himself is
credited with bringing about the idea for the EU as a United State of Europe . Many in the U.K are
now starting to feel that this may not be the best alliance the U.K could be in. The EU is seen by many
Brits as being too much oversight for too little gains. The U.K does not even identify as majorly
European, and therefore believe they should not have the oversight of the EU. The United Kingdom
leaving the EU should be seen as a major issue, and may be a reality by the end of the decade. If this

This wording only allows for the two possibilities, but Cameron would prefer a third option. The
Conservatives want to somehow work out a deal with the EU to allow the U.K to stay as a free trade
partner but not to be bound by EU policy. Germany has heavily opposed a special U.K status, but is
not opposed to the idea of multiple statuses within the EU for members. If the referendum passes
before these reforms are made the U.K will leave the European Union, this leads most to expect that
the U.K would quickly sign free trade agreements with all the other European nations. Brits currently
favor cession with 50% of those polled favoring it, and 36% not favoring it. The U.K perspective on
this is that many people support this, but there is a divide between the public and the corporate world.
The U.K identify closer to countries like Australia, Canada, and the U.S than they do with the EU.
This feeling of being British, not European has only helped strengthen the argument for cession. The
major group not supporting cession is large corporations, while in the EU It is far easier for them to do
business than if they had to deal with a renegotiated Eurozone. Many Brits do not see the EU to be
giving them much benefit, this is perhaps the primary reason for leaving the EU. The EU costs Britain

Food Wasting In America Essay
When I was little I was never able to finish my food, and my mom would always tell me that I should
always finish my food because not everybody has a chance to eat. Food wasting in america is well
talked about problem with $165 million dollars worth of food is being wasted every year. Food
wasting in america can be caused by many things, but three main reasons are overstocking their
produce, misconceptions with the due date, and business. Many businesses waste food especially by
overstocking. In farmer s markets many farmers overstock their crates with produce to have appeal to
the buyers. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have sold more chard if people saw
more of it in the crate compared to seeing only some (Last Week Tonight). This is because many
people have the assumption that if it s the last one there must be something wrong with it. With that
being the case many farmers overstock produce so that it takes away that assumption and people
would buy their product. But overstocking also causes food waste, with farmers overstocking their

Abortion Is An Intentional Termination Of A Pregnancy
Abortion is an intentional termination of a pregnancy during the first twenty eight weeks. The debate
of whether or not abortion should be legalized has been a key political topic for years. Based upon a
survey done by the Pew Research Center, as of September 22, 2014 a majority of Americans (55%)
express the opinion that abortion should be legal in all or most cases; four in ten say it should be
illegal in all or most cases. (Abortion, n.p.). Abortion should be legalized based upon the mothers
medical circumstances, for the fact that abortion is not a threat against the mental health of patients,
and to the rights of privacy and bodily integrity of females must be kept. Moreover the religious views
of others should not be taken as a factor against a person s decision for abortion. The legalization of
abortion is a strongly debated topic among our political parties. The Republican Party, unlike the
Democratic Party, is against abortion even though impending mothers may require an abortion to save
their own lives. Abortions, as reported by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, are

Indian Colonies Under British Rule
Colonies under European rule manifested in two main forms: extractive colonies that were a way for
colonisers to both access a new market and extract resources as they saw fit and civilising missions
that attempted to bring Western norms and values to indigenous people under the guise of religion
alongside a notion of local culture being savage. At times there were also conflicts between colonising
powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. India was once
part of the British Empire and despite being a thriving nation today, it has had a number of laws

Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the wife
would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to inheritance law
was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and
enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far
more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on
unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change
in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high
chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and
autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of
preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more
often than not, there was a lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most
widows as the deeply rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . Thus slowly,
almost as a reaction to the British hijacking on Indian culture and law, customary laws began to be

Analysis Of In The Next Room Or The Vibrator Play
The Ohio University Theater Division s production of In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play
explored the use of vibration therapy in the early 20th century as a way to cure hysteria. The
playwright Sarah Ruhl beautifully uses the intertwining lives lives of a doctor his patients and his wife
to examine female sexuality, male incompetence, science, marriage, and love. Most of the plot has to
do with female and male patients being treated for hysteria and what outcome the vibrator has on the
lives of the characters in medical and domestic ways. This play really highlights the personal
discovery of sexuality and of women beginning to achieve marital sex that isn t only for their husband
s pleasure. This production of the vibrator play used the contrast of a parlor and a doctor s laboratory
on a rotating set to help the audience understand the constant blend of science and society in a
historical setting.
The rotating set was a unique challenge for this production and while it was a bit distracting at times it
did add a lot to the quality of the production as a whole. There are many instances where the focus
should be on one of the rooms and not the other and to help achieve this very specific blocking is
implemented. For example, there is a scene in the first act where Mrs. Givings sits in the parlor and
hears Mrs. Daldry s moans for the first time as she is being treated in the laboratory. The focus of the
scene is on Mrs. Givings s reaction to the moaning and the flickering

The Positive Effects Of Violence And Violence In Video Games
Henry Jenkins states that the worst thing a kid can say about homework is that it is too hard. The worst
thing a kid can say about a video game is that it is too easy, meaning the harder the game, the better
the experience. The Psychological group reports that more than 90% of children in the U.S. play video
games. Among the kids between the ages of 12 and 17, the number rises to 97%. Eighty five percent
or more of video games on the market contain violence. CBS says that within reviewing more than
150 research papers, the task force found a consistent relationship between the games and the increase
in aggressive behavior. August 12, 2013 Adam Lanza shot 26 people in Newtown, Connecticut at
Sandy Hook Elementary school. Investigators went looking around at addresses in Adams GPS to find
out that he went to a theatre quit often and found out that he went to a theatre and played one specific
arcade game every time he showed up. A few times the manager had to unplug the game just to have
him leave the theatre before closing. Violent video games are active while watching tv is passive.
People learn better when they are actively involved. Players of violent games are more likely to
identify with a violent character. Violent games directly reward violent behavior such as by awarding
points or by allowing players to advance to the next games level. In some games, players are rewarded
through verbal praise such as hearing the words Nice Shot! after killing the enemy. It is well known
that rewarding behavior increases its frequency. The video game industry is the fourth largest
entertainment industry in the world. Many as 97% of U.S. kids age 12 17 play video games,
contributing to the $21.53 billion domestic video game industry. More than half of the 50 top selling
video games contain violence. In 2008 video game sales peaked with almost 300 million units being
sold. Of that amount 28% were rated teen by ESRB (entertainment software rating board) and five
percent rated mature. In 2004, teen related games made up 33% of all games manufactured and
produced while mature rated made up 12%. By 2007 teen rated made up only 20% and mature made
up six percent. While the numbers of violent video

Self-Identity In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Self identity, this is a word that is sewn into the fibers of our very being, but in all reality the true
definition is unknown. This word means the complete opposite of whatever the world has decided for
the meaning, because quite frankly in the end self identity does not revolve around any one self , but
the contrary but works to benefit the masses. Once one discovers who they are they are able to find
their gifts to bless others live and potentially bless them with the gift of identifying themselves. When
we discover ourselves this only leads to discoveries that can provide help or assistance to the world
and other individuals. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand it is taught by the main character that you
must discover yourself and identify your strengths and weaknesses so that you may prove to the world
that you are beneficial. We learn of a male, the age is unknown, who is looked down upon by his
fellow men who believe that people with intelligence are undesirable and a burden to the rest of the
population. Throughout the book this boy grows though his brain and curiosity grew quicker. So he
was breaking rules and laws left and right. It was then when he discovered that his brain was able to ...

But even the slightest differences in all of these define and shape every personality that crawls the
earth today. It is our differences that make us great. Kurt Vonnegut perfectly depicts how we should
praise others for their differences and build them, rather degrade them for their strengths. In Vonnegut
s short story Harrison Bergeron we see the consequences of destroying what makes people into a
someone. In this story the smart and intelligent thinkers, the strong, authentic, graceful, tall, and
beautiful were all put down and disable to prevent any to feel like they were greater than the other.
(Vonnegut) Differences a is what give us individuality. They are what makes us,

The Books Of Matthew And 1 Corinthians
Hermeneutical Matthew and 1 Corinthians The books of Matthew and 1 Corinthians are mainly
focused around love and what that is supposed to look like through Christ. Starting with Matthew, it
begins by walking us through the birth of Jesus and all of the events that took place during and after. It
also talks about his baptism and specifically that John the baptist was who performed it. After
everything about Jesus early life is introduced, it jumps straight into his preaching. Chapter four of
Matthew is where it really begins to talk about Jesus work. Not only does it introduce us to his
preaching styles, but it also quickly introduces Satin who seems to follow Jesus around for a while
attempting to cause problems. Matthew chapter four tells you right off the bat what is about to take
place. The first verse says, Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the
devil. (NIV Matthew 4:1). At this point, Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights, and the first
temptation form the devil was food. He says, ...If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become
bread. (NIV Matthew 4:3). Jesus of course rejects his temptation and the many more that followed.
After these events took place, Jesus leaves to begin his preaching. In doing so, he also chooses his
disciples while walking along the Sea of Galilee. Jesus took his disciples with him through Galilee and
began his preaching there. He healed the sick and suffering, and also performed

Hostage Crisis Research Paper
What started as a hostage situation in Sydney, Australia, it ended up as a tragedy with two hostages
and a gunman dead 16 hours after the siege started. The hostage taker was later identified as Man
Haron Monis who U.S Law enforcement said he acted alone. It all happened early in the morning at a
café where 17 civilians were getting breakfast and Man Haron Monis decided to take them as a
hostages. After 16 long hours of negotiation, the Australia Special Force and the law enforcement
entered the building rescuing the hostages and killing the gunman.
This hostage situation can be considered a barricade siege because the location of the hostages was
known to the authorities. Unlike hijack situations where the hostage taker takes over the

Mass Incarceration In Ww2
In the face of mass incarceration and genocide during World War II, the Jews of Central Europe had
few options for safe living space. The Nazi campaign against the Jewish people as well as the other
races deemed degenerate by the former party ensured that further residence in Europe was not an
option. Additionally, Britain had become an unviable recourse. Initially, its officials had welcomed the
Jewish refugees before World War II as they fled the political upheaval in Germany. The war,
however, convinced Parliament to forbid further immigration; furthermore, it committed to an
aggressive internment policy against German, Austrian, and Italian Jews. Like Britain, the United
States slowed the flow of Jewish immigrants and, as Mandatory Palestine was in conflict, there was no
homeland for the Jewish people. The one safe haven left for Jewish refugees was in perhaps the most

This agreement the Treaty of Nanking allowed Britain to superimpose its sovereignty on five Chinese
ports. Promising only trade routes in return, the British had gained administrative rights over
Shanghai. Only a few years would pass before the Indian Rebellion and the Second Opium War. The
former displayed Britain s commitment to its commercial routes and colonial subservience, as the
revolt quickly collapsed and India fell under the ruling authority of the British Crown. The latter only
worsened relations between Britain and China; the Second Opium War fully opened China for
occupation by Western powers (an early example of the imperialism to follow worldwide). Britain
would cling tightly to its territories in China well into the twentieth century; in Shanghai, this would

Post Modernism vs. Modernism
Modernism vs. Post Modernism The ideas of modernism and post modernism are fundamentally
different. Modernism is the belief that human beings can improve their environment, using scientific
knowledge, technology and putting all of those things into practice. Modernism is prevalent in the
field of arts. The concept of post modernism looks at the ideas behind modernism and questions
whether they really exist. (wikipedia) Modernism began in the early 1800 s. It emerged with Manet
and Baudelaire in painting and literature respectively. It was initially called avant garde and today it
means to change the current state of being. In the late 1800 s developments in science and technology
dominated most of modernist thoughts. Some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Logically this makes post modernist thought eligible for scrutiny under its own rules. Some of the post
modern thinkers are Martin Heidegger and Michel Foucault. Michael Foucault wrote We must see our
rituals for what they are: completely arbitrary things, tired of games and irony, it is good to be dirty
and bearded, to have long hair, to look like a girl when one is a boy (and vice versa); one must put in
play , show up, transform, and reverse the systems which quietly order us about. As far as I am
concerned, that is what I try to do in my work. Heidegger added: ...thinking begins only when we have
come to know that reason, glorified for centuries, is the most stiff necked adversary of thought.
(Chagani) These two proponents of post modernism were concerned that thinking would be limited by
the standards set in society. They believed that breaking away from these norms was the only way to
continue growing.

Country Music And Bernie s Song God Bless America
When it comes to singers, rappers, country artists, or anyone who makes music they are usually about
historical events that have happened in the past or are just happening me right now. In country music a
lot of the time they talk about things that are happening in their lives like break ups, deaths in the
family or just about what they are going through. Rappers are usually talking about another rapper, but
some times it is about the difficult times they are going through. When it comes to hard core metal
music or as people call it death metal they do talk about their lives and how they are hard, but in some
peoples mind it is hard to understand. All the music that people make has a meaning to them in some
way that only they understand, or you have to listen to the lyrics very carefully to understand what
they are talking about. During September 11th, 2001 four airplanes were hijacked, two were headed
towards the twin towers, one to the Pentagon, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Bernie s song God Bless America it is a slower song that doesn t have a lot of lyrics that change
throughout the song, and show, say different things to see how people are feeling at this time like
Jacksons song. In the song by Jackson he describes what people could have been or were feeling
during at this time. Jackson says at the beginning of the song did you stand there in shock at the rise of
the black smoke rising against the blue sky When he says this he is wondering what the emotions
people had during the very moment they saw what was going on. The way that Bernie says Stand
beside her, and guide her he just wants people to not give up on America, and guide people that are
thinking negative on what they decide to do so everyone can live in peace. Just like comparisons there
can, and will be more differences in these songs, but key ones that are important to society are

Super Vectors Chapter Summary
J.R. McNeil s book was all together a good read. His use of information in the book gives you a
different perspective on Caribbean history. Instead of it being solely based on human interactions, he
explains the history through mosquitos, vectors, and diseases (specifically malaria and yellow fervor)
and how these effected the people as well as the ecosystem around them. He ties human interaction
with mosquitos infected with diseases and explains how they are intertwine with one another for
hundreds of years. He states that the diseases transmitted affected the fate of the Natives in the
Caribbean and the wars with the foreigners to the lands that were sent from Europe to control the
lands until modern medicine could stop the effects of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Oxen and mules kept on plantations also improved Anopheles nutrition while irrigated rice provided
the ideal habitat for these mosquitoes. Thus Mc Neill demonstrates a strong link between rice,
mosquitoes and malaria (p. 57). In the last part of this book McNeil tries to explain to us how
mosquitos tilted the war in the Caribbean by aiding the American natives from foreign invaders with
yellow fever and malaria. The author describes that disease played a huge role in British defeat in the
south, so much so that it had equal or greater role then the resistance of the colonial forces. Another
example of war is when the French occupied the Caribbean and the slaves revolted and lost St.
Dominque due to the native immunity to yellow fever. With the start of the 20th century America
started to try and find cures to the diseases that mosquitos were infecting people with by studying
bacteria and how it works, which in the end boosted the immune system and allowed the body to fight
off the bacteria that was contracted by the mosquito. The core value of McNeill s work is built around
these three scenarios that can turn the tide in mosquito born diseases in the Caribbean. He claims that
he research in not, an essay in mosquito determinism, or even environmental determinism what he is

  • 2. The Feminine Mystique Summary In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental notion of the mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further explain this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived ideas about gender roles. Moreover, she makes use of logos, when she provides her readers with statistics about how Women constituted nearly half of the professional workforce; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Revere Hill Case Study Human Flourishing theory of property holds that [t]he moral foundation of property, both as a concept and as an institution, is human flourishing. The purpose of property is to enable people a foundation to enable people to live an objectively well lived life, therefore property decisions should be structured around this goal. Under this theory property owners owe obligations to members of their communities to perform certain duties to enable people to have necessary capabilities in order to live well lived lives, owners are responsible for the continued well being of these communities which have nurtured and continue to nurture the development of their personal capabilities essential to their own flourishing. Furthermore, the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at it through the lenses of different theories of property we get conflicting answers of what decision should be made. In this situation, the Beacon Hill Civic Association has made the question easier by offering to pay for materials and labor to make the new handicapped ramps fit and maintain the historic nature. What we also see is that there is a real lacking in the theories of property of taking other laws and fairness into consideration. We do not get easy answers and the law is not reflective of just on property theory and therefore we must find a way to work these together to address the growing need for disability accessibility while attempting to maintain historic preservation of cultural ... • 4. Paulo Freire The Banking Concept Of Education Paulo Freire believes that the world is primarily dominated by the banking concept in regards to education. Under the banking concept, Freire describes the relationship between students and teachers as involv[ing] a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient, listening objects (the students) (216). Freire later goes on to symbolize students as empty receptacles awaiting teachers to dump their knowledge freely to fill the empty spaces. Memorization, obedience, oppression, and dominance all describe the inner workings of the banking concept. Students lose their ability to become cogitative thinkers as they memorize lectures, never speak their voice or dissent to teachers, and give all of their freedom to their professors. Students then become slaves to the classroom, and rather than a symbiotic relationship existing between students and teachers, the road is very one way. If Freire were to analyze ... Before closing Section II, Rodriguez states I read in order to acquire a point of view. I vacuumed books for epigrams, scraps of information, ideas, themes anything to fill the hollow within me and make me feel educated (350). This points readers in the direction that the banking concept molds students to be mindless receptacles awaiting dumped knowledge; reading then is used to soak in the word count and not the actual meaning behind the piece. In The Banking Concept of Education, Freire makes an interesting point: The interests of the oppressors lie in changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation which oppresses them ...the more the oppressed can be led to adapt to that situation, the more easily they can be dominated ... • 5. Oil Production Of Nigeria s Niger Essay Final TNC paper Oil production in Nigeria s Niger Delta began in 1956. Ever since then, the Delta communities have recognized unrest as oil was being distributed in profitable quantities. Oil has been Nigeria s leading export product for more than six decades. Even though, oil has given Nigeria a tremendous economic boost, nearly sixty percent of that oil production has been carried out under Shell s regulation, and during these past six decades, there has been enormous environmental degradation because of frequent oil spills and gas flaring. This has led to a polluted fish ponds and declining growth of crops in Niger communities. Shell has personally financed Nigerian militants to insure the production of oil, and this has led to brutal murders and illegal executions of community members who tried to protest the damages that shell was creating to their environment. So why and how is Shell still operating and still committing human right crimes in Nigeria? This paper will explain why Shell has dominated Nigeria since the 1950s, how the company has damaged the lives of numerous communities, insured the production of oil to this day through militant use, and still managed to separate themselves from the many years of violence that they founded. Francisco Goya The Third Of May Francisco Goya brings oils to life in this painting titled The Third of May, 1808 to life around the year of 1814 on a canvas frame of 104.7 inches by 135.8 inches of canvas. • 9. Protocol Stack, Subnetting And Results Introduction In this report, I will discuss 3 sections: Protocol Stack, Subnetting and Results. Within the protocol stack section, I will explain how the encapsulation process works within each layer of both TCP/IP IOS/OSI models. The explanations will relate to the stages which occur within the process of requesting a web page from the web server via PC0 over the Wide Area Network (WAN). Within the subnetting section, I will produce a guide on subnetting an IP address. So, within the WAN connection, to request a webpage from PC0 located within the Birmingham site, the DNS protocol is used to determine the domain name whereas the HTTP application protocol manages the way a web server web client interact. When requesting for the webpage, DNS protocol sends data to the next 2 layers of the OSI Model in order to firstly encrypt the data within the Presentation layer and then the dialogue is organized and data exchange is managed within session layer. Data remains as one block during these 3 stages. Within the next layer (Transport layer) of both models, data is segmented and a port number is attached to each segment which identifies the application which should receive the data on receiving device. Port numbers are attached when the TCP header is added. TCP UDP are the 2 protocols functioning on this layer. TCP is used for reliable connections whereas UDP is used for unreliable connection. When referring back to the scenario of requesting a webpage, data will be segmented and port number 80 will be attached in order for web server s HTTP service to receive the data then the segments will be forwarded on using the TCP protocol (Jaro., 2010). Segments are encapsulated into packets when forwarded to Network Layer (Internet Layer on TCP/IP Model), the Network layer implements logical addressing to the packets. • 20. Persuasive Essay On Deforestation Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of wood. Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue deforestation links directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do not believe that climate change is an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I became interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people are less healthy. Although Canada does not struggle with deforestation as much compared to China and the US, I do not want the same to happen. One issue that deforestation causes is extinction the permanent loss of species. Each species is unique and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where will they go when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer be balanced. The government need to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to construction. Second of all, deforestation has many unexpected effects to the environment and may result in negative consequences such as climate change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they produce oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with purifying the air and controlling the climate. When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees will be released back into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I didn t think the use of water, as a special effect was relevant to the narrative; it confused me, as it wasn t clear exactly why the water had any relevance to the plot. Alternatively, for Elizabeth who was stood next to John trying to persuade him to confess so that he ll live, the water could have represented devastation. These methods can be a different yet rewarding to the juveniles that are wanting to better themselves. Such methods are single sex facilities as well as coed facilities. The importance of single sex programing is reflected in the debate among juvenile justice experts and practitioners concerning the advantages and disadvantages of coed verses single sexed juvenile correctional facilities (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). During the research it is known that there are positive and negative aspects of both that need to be compared as well as contrasted against one another in order to find the balance of both and analyzing them by economic issues, preparation for the outside world, programmatic resources, and cohesion by focusing on the major points within the subjects. In analyzing both single sex coed facilities the perspective of scripture will not only help support the major points, but it will bring more life in a more Godly perspective. If you do the math, that is two million five hundred thousand people that died in gladiator battles. The last thing that was unfair about the equipment is that when an emperor fought against a gladiator, he would weaken him. He did this by either taking away almost all of his armor, or he would give the gladiator a wooden sword while the emperor was able to use a steel sword. This shows me that the equipment that the gladiators used was unfair. Finally, the last thing that was unfair was how the audience influenced if the gladiators lived or died. The reason why I say this is because sometimes the audience could choose if the gladiators would die. The way they would do this is by giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. What a thumbs up means is that it was a excellent fight, and they spare the losing gladiator s life. But that usually wasn t the case. They most likely would give a thumbs down, and that meant that the winning gladiator would strike his opponent with a sword. They did this because the audience found it entertaining. Contrastingly, Hebrew women as seen in the Gospel of Luke were viewed as equal to men because both were made in the image and likeness of God. Women were not important in the epic story of the founding of Rome whereas women were crucial in Jesus mission to preach the word of God. The respect for fathers extended into the community and into politics creating a male dominated society. Women were subordinate to either their father or their husband. Food Wasting In America Essay When I was little I was never able to finish my food, and my mom would always tell me that I should always finish my food because not everybody has a chance to eat. Food wasting in america is well talked about problem with $165 million dollars worth of food is being wasted every year. Food wasting in america can be caused by many things, but three main reasons are overstocking their produce, misconceptions with the due date, and business. Many businesses waste food especially by overstocking. In farmer s markets many farmers overstock their crates with produce to have appeal to the buyers. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have sold more chard if people saw more of it in the crate compared to seeing only some (Last Week Tonight). This is because many people have the assumption that if it s the last one there must be something wrong with it. With that being the case many farmers overstock produce so that it takes away that assumption and people would buy their product. But overstocking also causes food waste, with farmers overstocking their produce to make it look appealing to buyers they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The debate of whether or not abortion should be legalized has been a key political topic for years. Based upon a survey done by the Pew Research Center, as of September 22, 2014 a majority of Americans (55%) express the opinion that abortion should be legal in all or most cases; four in ten say it should be illegal in all or most cases. (Abortion, n.p.). Abortion should be legalized based upon the mothers medical circumstances, for the fact that abortion is not a threat against the mental health of patients, and to the rights of privacy and bodily integrity of females must be kept. Moreover the religious views of others should not be taken as a factor against a person s decision for abortion. The legalization of abortion is a strongly debated topic among our political parties. The Republican Party, unlike the Democratic Party, is against abortion even though impending mothers may require an abortion to save their own lives. Indian Colonies Under British Rule Colonies under European rule manifested in two main forms: extractive colonies that were a way for colonisers to both access a new market and extract resources as they saw fit and civilising missions that attempted to bring Western norms and values to indigenous people under the guise of religion alongside a notion of local culture being savage. At times there were also conflicts between colonising powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. India was once part of the British Empire and despite being a thriving nation today, it has had a number of laws imposed on it both during colonization and globalization that have had significant social, economic and political impact. Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the wife would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to inheritance law was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more often than not, there was a lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most widows as the deeply rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . Thus slowly, almost as a reaction to the British hijacking on Indian culture and law, customary laws began to be replaced by a far more Hindu ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Analysis Of In The Next Room Or The Vibrator Play The Ohio University Theater Division s production of In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play explored the use of vibration therapy in the early 20th century as a way to cure hysteria. The playwright Sarah Ruhl beautifully uses the intertwining lives lives of a doctor his patients and his wife to examine female sexuality, male incompetence, science, marriage, and love. Most of the plot has to do with female and male patients being treated for hysteria and what outcome the vibrator has on the lives of the characters in medical and domestic ways. This play really highlights the personal discovery of sexuality and of women beginning to achieve marital sex that isn t only for their husband s pleasure. This production of the vibrator play used the contrast of a parlor and a doctor s laboratory on a rotating set to help the audience understand the constant blend of science and society in a historical setting. The rotating set was a unique challenge for this production and while it was a bit distracting at times it did add a lot to the quality of the production as a whole. There are many instances where the focus should be on one of the rooms and not the other and to help achieve this very specific blocking is implemented. For example, there is a scene in the first act where Mrs. Givings sits in the parlor and hears Mrs. Daldry s moans for the first time as she is being treated in the laboratory. The focus of the scene is on Mrs. Givings s reaction to the moaning and the flickering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The worst thing a kid can say about a video game is that it is too easy, meaning the harder the game, the better the experience. The Psychological group reports that more than 90% of children in the U.S. play video games. Among the kids between the ages of 12 and 17, the number rises to 97%. Eighty five percent or more of video games on the market contain violence. CBS says that within reviewing more than 150 research papers, the task force found a consistent relationship between the games and the increase in aggressive behavior. August 12, 2013 Adam Lanza shot 26 people in Newtown, Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary school. Investigators went looking around at addresses in Adams GPS to find out that he went to a theatre quit often and found out that he went to a theatre and played one specific arcade game every time he showed up. A few times the manager had to unplug the game just to have him leave the theatre before closing. Violent video games are active while watching tv is passive. People learn better when they are actively involved. Players of violent games are more likely to identify with a violent character. Violent games directly reward violent behavior such as by awarding points or by allowing players to advance to the next games level. In some games, players are rewarded through verbal praise such as hearing the words Nice Shot! after killing the enemy. It is well known that rewarding behavior increases its frequency. The Books Of Matthew And 1 Corinthians Hermeneutical Matthew and 1 Corinthians The books of Matthew and 1 Corinthians are mainly focused around love and what that is supposed to look like through Christ. Starting with Matthew, it begins by walking us through the birth of Jesus and all of the events that took place during and after. It also talks about his baptism and specifically that John the baptist was who performed it. After everything about Jesus early life is introduced, it jumps straight into his preaching. Chapter four of Matthew is where it really begins to talk about Jesus work. Not only does it introduce us to his preaching styles, but it also quickly introduces Satin who seems to follow Jesus around for a while attempting to cause problems. Matthew chapter four tells you right off the bat what is about to take place. The first verse says, Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (NIV Matthew 4:1). At this point, Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights, and the first temptation form the devil was food. He says, ...If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. (NIV Matthew 4:3). Jesus of course rejects his temptation and the many more that followed. After these events took place, Jesus leaves to begin his preaching. In doing so, he also chooses his disciples while walking along the Sea of Galilee. Jesus took his disciples with him through Galilee and began his preaching there. The Nazi campaign against the Jewish people as well as the other races deemed degenerate by the former party ensured that further residence in Europe was not an option. Additionally, Britain had become an unviable recourse. Initially, its officials had welcomed the Jewish refugees before World War II as they fled the political upheaval in Germany. The war, however, convinced Parliament to forbid further immigration; furthermore, it committed to an aggressive internment policy against German, Austrian, and Italian Jews. He ties human interaction with mosquitos infected with diseases and explains how they are intertwine with one another for hundreds of years. Thus Mc Neill demonstrates a strong link between rice, mosquitoes and malaria (p. 57). In the last part of this book McNeil tries to explain to us how mosquitos tilted the war in the Caribbean by aiding the American natives from foreign invaders with yellow fever and malaria. The author describes that disease played a huge role in British defeat in the south, so much so that it had equal or greater role then the resistance of the colonial forces. Another example of war is when the French occupied the Caribbean and the slaves revolted and lost St. Dominque due to the native immunity to yellow fever. With the start of the 20th century America started to try and find cures to the diseases that mosquitos were infecting people with by studying bacteria and how it works, which in the end boosted the immune system and allowed the body to fight off the bacteria that was contracted by the mosquito.
