Can Critical Regionalism Counteract The Impact Of...
Can Critical Regionalism counteract the impact of Globalisation on our cities?
In the era of constant networking and relaying of information, the world has become a much smaller
place. The shrinking world has somewhat become a familiar spectacle of identical fads and lifestyles.
At least in the developed countries, globalisation has given birth to homogenous consumer culture.
Demonstrated not only by the expansion of multi national cooperations such as Apple and Starbucks
but also by the indistinct architecture. It is a common sighting in urban cities today to see the identical
steel, concrete and glass structures. This occurrence might be innate due to the easy exportation of
concepts and architects, however not obligatory. Whilst advancing towards a modern society,
architects have adapted this universal style of architecture that fails to represent the unique topography
of different cities. Architects have the choice to either repeat the same building everywhere or to push
ourselves forward, to create an encounter between ourselves and the local culture (Koolhaas, 2012). If
the notion of Critical Regionalism were to be practiced by architects through the integration of the
local culture with modern techniques, it could potentially return the missing identities of these cities.
Critical Regionalism was devised during the early 20th century, as an attempt to reject the monotony
developed by the International Style and the purposeless ornamentation utilised by

The Bourgeoisie Essay
Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile
camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As
Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is
important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created
and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine
how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process
and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low
and high art distinctions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the commodification of natural resources, there becomes a dependency between those who
control the resources and all those who need to use them. At this stage of society people are no longer
self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At
this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess
compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered
when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition
from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society.
Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of
the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all
physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives
with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The
division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French
colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. The rich and poor
binary can

Contradictions
One of the oldest problems of humanity is the contradiction between beliefs and actions. The
Shepardsons and the Grangerfords act out this contradiction in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by
Mark Twain.
Although these families attend church and pay lip service to the teachings of the church, they do not
live by these teachings. The act of Christian men and woman, such as in the Catholic faith, is often
contradictory as to how they believe they should live their lives.

This consistent routine has embedded itself within the individual with no possible chance of exodus.
The feud and church goers are similar even in their dress attire, yet another entity these two have share
in. Col. Grangerford is described as a gentleman all over; and so was his family (Twain, 96). The
Colonel was kind, well mannered, quiet and far from frivolish. The
Colonel dressed well, was clean shaven and his face had not a sign of red in it anywheres (Twain, 96).
These qualities are similar to those that one would find at a religious service. The person would most
probably attend in their best outfit, clean shaven, and cleaned from head to toe. Their manners would
be comparable to Col. Grangerford as well, acting like a gentleman at all times during while attending
the service. Both the feud and the attendance of church are this consistent routine, and both are
followed till without understanding until the individual who partakes in them parish. For thousands of
years, people have attended some type of liturgical service without full understanding of it, and for
several generations, the Shepardsons and
Grangerfords have been feuding with no real basis or understanding as to why.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Blood, Toil, Tears, And Sweat
On May 13th, 1940, newly elected Prime Minister Winston Churchill delivered a historic speech titled
Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat . He discusses the necessity of an empowered Great Britain in the
shadow of World War II; as well as his confidence within the strength of the British people. This
speech s lasting impact was reinforced by it s usage of the three appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos.
These appeals address the ethical, logical, and emotional ideas and undertones within a piece.
Churchill s iconic speech truly encapsulates these three appeals within every word.
Ethos is considered to be the ethical aspect of a piece. In other words: is the information and speaker
reputable and trustworthy? This appeal is clearly demonstrated within Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat .
For example, Churchill states
In this crisis I hope I may be pardoned if I do not address the House at any length today. I hope that
any of my friends and colleagues, or former colleagues, who are affected by the political
reconstruction, will make allowance, all allowance, for any lack of ceremony ... Show more content on

He demonstrates a sense of respect for those listening to his word and those who he works with, which
creates trust in the audience and gives a reputable air to his words. Logos refers to the logic of a work,
addressing if the piece is able to be understood and makes sense. This appeal is demonstrated in the
line Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire
has stood for (Churchill). Churchill frankly states that without action, the British Empire and its values
will crumble in the face of Nazi Germany. This clear and conscience delivery of Britain s fate is
logical and able to be understood. So in turn, the appeal logos can be

A Knight s Code Of Chivalry
A knight s Code of Chivalry was a system of morals that they lived by. Knights were very respected
people because they lived by that code. A person s morals or personal code can reflect a person s
character. I realized mine throughout the time I spent taking care of my great grandmother. My
personal code is to always be generous, kind, and considerate. Kindness can always go a long way. I
try and live my life by treating others the way I would want to be treated. It s not a bad thing to be
considerate of other people and what they care about or their feelings. At the beginning of my
freshman year my great grandmother had a stroke while at home. This stroke left her unable to walk,
talk or eat on her own. After recovering in the hospital

The Case Buck Versus Bell
Many people have heard of the case Buck versus Bell. This was a land mark supreme court case in
1927. This case basis is eugenics, which is the science of improving a human population by controlled
breeding. Most people today would disagree with this on premise alone. In the case Buck versus Bell
the decision being heard was can doctors sterilize patients that were feeble minded or have epilepsy.
As Carrie s story unfolds you will see not only is feeble minded a broad term She was wronged not
only on the merits of the case, but in the process of justice.
Carrie Buck was placed in a home called Virginia Colony for Epileptics and Feebleminded alongside
her mother. Now at the time there were other states practicing eugenics. This was the first case to
challenge Virginia s 1924 ruling allowing it. Carrie and her mom were labeled feeble minded and
promiscuous. They would later go on to label Carrie daughter Vivian feeble minded also.
Let us take a step back. Carrie was born in Charlottesville Virginia. Her birth took place on July 2,
1906. Her father Frank W. Buck passed away when she was only a young girl. Her mother was
committed, when Carrie was still young. The mother was committed for feeble mindedness. This was
not a medical decision, but the doctor s belief that Carrie was an illegitimate child. Carrie was placed
into foster care at the age of three.
In other words, Carrie had a rough childhood. She was not an illegitimate child which can be proven

Johnston Gate Research Paper
The Johnston Gate The monumental iron gates still stand today strong today. The gates overall
presence dividing the busy streets of Cambridge and the tranquility of Harvard Yard. Just north of
Harvard Square stands Johnston gate, for students to enter daily and for city goers and tourists to pass
by. Despite its bold and perhaps intimidating appearance, seas of people flood through to catch a
glimpse of Harvard Yard and to stop to take a picture with the famous John Harvard Statue. The gate
however, has not been present since the institution s founding. Samuel Johnston was a proud member
of Harvard s graduating class of 1855. Several years later, Johnston decided to donate 10,000 dollars
to build a gate, leading to the entrance of the famous Harvard Yard. The gate was designed by Charles
McKim, an architect and a graduate of Harvard. He designed the gates to have a lavish design, and to

People were outraged by the gates appearance due to it s overdone appearance. The complex design
was not seen as tasteful and contradicted the Puritan values that the school was founded upon. The
symbolism within the design of the gate still had a cross at the top of the fence representing the
Divinity School and Harvard s Puritan founding. The gate also displays a VERITAS shield on the
brick columns that the gate is supported by. Despite the controversial response when first constructed,
the gate still stands 126 years later. The gate is seen by many daily and welcomes students and visitors
to the Harvard we know today. From the very beginning the Johnston Gate was intended to be
Harvard Yard s main portal. Building the lavish iron gate was a way of making the entrance built to
last and also official. The grand entryway has a way of welcoming people to explore the famous sights

Bodybuilding Nutrition And Nutrition
Bodybuilding Nutrition
Bodybuilding is a sport where men and women s goal is to achieve a symmetrical and muscular
physique with low body fat percentages, usually in order to win a competition. Many factors go into
reaching these goals such as resistant training, genetics, mental will power and nutrition. While all of
these factors are important to a bodybuilder, nutrition seems to be one of the most important, most
researched and most tested and manipulated branch of the bodybuilders lifestyle. Specifically, the
effects of protein on a bodybuilder, the ideal macronutrient ratios (carbs, fat, and protein) for fat loss
and muscle maintenance. and nutrition s effect on resistance training recovery have been studies to
further optimize a bodybuilders physique.
The important yet controversial topic of optional protein intake has been a hot topic for years in many
areas such as the needs for sedentary induvial, sports athletes, Olympic athletes and bodybuilders.
However it is generally agreed upon that while the RDA standard of .75 .80 g/kg of body weight a day
is enough to keep those with physical activities in there day to day life in a positive nitrogen balance,
this is not the case for bodybuilders due to their goals of increasing muscle mass and intense training.
(Masedu, Ziruolo, Valenti, Di Giulio, 2012) A more beneficial protein intake for bodybuilders should
sit around 1.7 2.2 g/kg of body weight a day if the induvial wants to see optimal results with regards to

The Impact Of The Age Of Enlightenment In Western Europe
The Age of Enlightenment saw many great changes in Western Europe. It was an age of reason and
philosophes. During this age, changes the likes of which had not been seen since ancient times took
place. Such change affected evert pore of Western European society. Many might argue that the
Enlightenment really did not bring any real change, however, there exists and overwhelming amount
of facts which prove, without question, that the spirit of the Enlightenment was one of change
specifically change which went against the previous teachings of the Catholic Church. Such change is
apparent in the ideas, questions, and philosophies of the time, in the study of science, and throughout
the monarchial system. Previously, the Catholic Church had professed to the entire medieval world
that faith in God was absolute. Indeed, the medieval world was truly an age of faith. As such, ideas
that went against the teachings of God were ignored and their preachers subsequently murdered. After
the Crusades brought back old Aristotelian learning from the middle east, all this changed. Advances
in Geography were made with the introduction of Ptolemaic Geography. More importantly than the
rediscovery of ancient geography was the beginning of skepticism in Western Europe. No longer
would the Church s word be taken on faith. The idea that the physical world could be understood
through the use of empiricism analytical thought was also introduced. René Descartes even began to
doubt his own existence

Canaan Valley Wetland
Significant change has been detected in the Canaan Valley area with high accuracies. There was a
serious wetland loss from 56.17% in 1993 to 28.57% in 2002 in Canaan Valley area due to the
dramatically decrease in forested/ shrub wetland. The remaining total wetland area was estimated only
8814.606 acres by 2002, which was about half of wetland in 1993. The dominant wetland type was
still forested/shrub wetland. Emergent wetland occupied a small amount with 16.6% of total wetland
area. The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge kept the main wetland. Both dry season (see in
Appendix) and rainy season data show this big decrease happened in south part of Canaan Valley area.
The disappeared wetland was replaced by urban area. From 1993 to 2002, urban area increased from
7.54% to 42.44% of total Canaan Valley area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of human actions lead to this wetland change such as developing urban area, tilling for crop
production, and building a transportation system. It s clear to see that the major wetland area remained
is in the east part of Tucker County, which is far away from the cities and roads network (Figure 5.1).
Urbanization is a major cause of wetland loss. With increased population, more and more areas need
to be extended for human activities. For many years, the value of wetland was underestimated. Roads
and bridges are frequently constructed across wetlands since people thought wetlands have low land
value. It is often considered to be more cost effective to build roads or bridges across wetlands than
around them. Road and bridge construction activities can increase sediment loading to wetlands. Rock
salt used for deicing roads can damage or

Boo Radley Analysis
A Life in the Darkness Are some people really as horrible as others depict them? At the beginning of
the book To Kill a Mockingbird, many readers believe that Boo Radley is extremely malicious and
psychotic, but in reality, this is not the case. For example, this quotation shows how Jem, the main
character s brother, assumes Boo is demented: Nobody knew what form of intimidation Mr. Radley
employed to keep Boo out of sight, but Jem figured that Mr. Radley kept him chained to the bed (14).
Throughout the story, many people s ideas about Boo Radley change, especially in the end when he
rescues the children. Boo Radley, whose real name is Arthur Radley, is reclusive, but at the same time,
he is immensely heroic and compassionate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This part shows Arthur s heroism because if he had not fixed the pants, Jem, Scout, and Dill would
have been in a massive amount of trouble. Atticus tells the kids to stop harassing Arthur, but they
persist, and in the end, Arthur saves them. Close to the end of the novel, when Scout and Jem are
being followed by Bob Ewell, Arthur Radley comes out of his house, stabs Bob (who would have
killed both the children), and then takes Jem, who is extremely injured, back to the Finch house.
Because Arthur does not usually come out of his house, this part comes as a surprise to all readers and
shows that Arthur Radley is a hero. Lastly, despite the children s original ideas about Arthur Radley,
he turns out to be an extremely compassionate man. First of all, Arthur gives Jem and Scout little
trinkets indirectly by using a knothole in a tree until Nathan Radley patches the hole up. Arthur gives
the children a watch, chewing gum, and many varieties of knick knacks. Second, when Miss Maudie s
house burns down, Jem and Scout are cold, and they receive a blanket anonymously from Arthur.
Third, after Bob Ewell attacks Jem and Scout in the woods, Arthur takes Jem back to his house and
then, later, strokes Jem s cheeks affectionately. Scout tells Arthur, You can pet him, Mr. Arthur, he s
asleep. You couldn t if he was awake, though, he wouldn t let you... (372). Although this action may
seem strange at first, Arthur s choice to pet Jem shows how much compassion

to this very image through the life journey of his main character, Doodle. While Doodle is symbolized
by a bird, Hurst also uses other symbols and imagery to create a mournful tone throughout his short
story. Hurst uses the coffin and scarlet ibis to show symbolism. Hurst also uses the flower garden to
create a better tone. Direct words and thoughts from the characters, and images suggests that James

Analysis Of The Video Game Console Market Essay
Five Forces Analysis
Threat of New Entry When it comes to entering the video game console market there are a lot of costs
that are incurred. This limits the amount of competition that is coming in from an outside source.
Microsoft spent over 100 million dollars on research and development alone for the Xbox one
controller (Ron, 2013). This is a huge cost that new companies usually cannot absorb when first
starting out. There is also a huge cost difference from new producers and long standing producers due
to experience and the economies of scale that the top companies have. The last factor that really deters
companies from entering the console game is the fierce brand loyalty that inhabits the video game
market. Most consumers once they pick a side stick to it, this can span as far back as childhood. On
release the PlayStation 4 had better specs then the Xbox One, and yet 42% of previous Xbox owners
choose the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4 (Sakraida, 2014).
Competition
In the gaming industry competition comes from every direction. The most commonly thought of
outside sources of competition are the PC industry and mobile gaming industry. The television movie
and television industry are also competing to fill the entertainment void in people s lives. That being
said the competition we will be looking at is between the top two producers of gaming consoles, Sony
and Microsoft. Sony and Microsoft with their PlayStation and Xbox consoles respectively have very

Intro Binge Boy directed by Vince Squibb is an advertisement to support responsible drinking. To
demonstrate how the advert was effective with the actions of the boy and the pacing will be introduced
as well as the set up of the scenes. These are here to make an effective advertisement to persuade the
audience to react to irresponsible drinking. Body 1 The actions in Binge Boy are distinguished
because they emphasise that intoxication in adolescence can lead to injuries, messiness and
destruction. When the boy poor s the food on himself, his actions have proven that intoxication can
cause messiness. Similarly the boy s actions have been portrayed to exaggerate the poor actions

Examples Of Selfishness In All My Sons
People Are Selfish It is said that 70% of the American population is classified as being selfish. The
author of All My Sons, Arthur Miller, reveals that most people really do not care about others. In the
play All My Sons, there is much conflict centered around one family relating to the ideas of marriage,
death, and lying. The character, Joe Keller, represents an image of how most people do not care about
others because he is very selfish. Joe s selfishness are shown through how he blames others, and tries
to cover up his mistakes, rather than owning up to them. This interpretation is important because it
makes the reader think of how they act, and if they would be that 70% of the American population that
is considered selfish. First, I will explain how Joe acts selfish by blaming others. First, Miller shows
how Joe acts selfish through how he blames others. In the contents of the play, Joe tends to blame
Steve, his previous business partner, for the majority of his problems. Throughout the play Steve is in
jail because Joe blamed him for manufacturing, and distributing all of the defective plane parts that
eventually lead to the death of twenty one innocent pilots. Miller is insisting that, Joe was indeed
responsible for the manufacture, and led Steve to take the repercussions of this action, when Joe states,
. . . the guy [Joe] who sold cracked cylinder heads to the Army Air Force; the guy who made twenty
one P 40 s crash in Australia. . (Miller, 30) Joe then

Sexual Assault Has Been The People V. Turner
It would be wrong to say violence ends when you turn the television off or act as if injustice didn t
exist anymore, but if you reflect back on 2016 so far, one of the biggest topics that often dominates the
news and blogosphere concerned the high frequency of assaults on college campuses around the
country. In the place where many young adults begin to learn who they are and who they want to be
while enjoying a comfortable freedom and safety among their peers discovered freedom and safety
could not always be guaranteed.
One of the most discussed topics surrounded sexual assault has been the People v. Turner. Brock
Turner was an undergraduate student at Stanford University in Northern California when he was
apprehended by two Swedish international students who witnessed Turner sexually assaulting an
unconscious woman.
The students who stopped Turner from continuing to assault the young woman stated that they
intervened because they could tell that the woman was clearly unconscious. Turner was then
subsequently arrested, charged and indicted on two counts of felony assault and one count of
attempted rape. However, it was the consequences that Turner faced for his actions which have upset
many.
After a jury found Turner guilty of assault and attempted rape Judge Aaron Persky of the Santa Clara
County Superior Court sentenced Turner to a meek six months confinement in the Santa Clara County
jail followed by three months of probation. After serving three months in the Santa

their computer. I used to say that the problem with Apple was that they did not have an open system,
and that the problem with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is that they did. In smartphones tablets,
Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) is following this path with Blackberry 10. 6 One less
understood characteristic of Apple is the ability to wait. I think this is a lesson learned from the
Newton project one of the original PDAs with handwriting input, it failed in part because it was too
far ahead of its time, That is, it was a great idea (as Palm was to prove), but the hardware technology
of the time was not up to the task. Apple can work on an idea for years, but wait for the moment in
time when it can introduce a new product with sufficient power and style to carry off the new
functionality in a form meets their standards. Thus, the iPhone waited for the development of LTE

I wished beyond all reckoning that I could have helped my lady. I am no physician nor am I a healer. I

Local Issues In Congress
In today s government, a major issue involves members of Congress focusing all of their time and
resources on re election. This causes the Congress to focus on the desires and needs of their
constituents while potentially ignoring necessary projects and laws that could benefit the entire nation.
This, in effect, results in wasted funding and an inefficient Congress. I am a strong believer that the
members of Congress need to focus on the national issues rather than local issues that dictate re
election. The state and local governments are in place to pass laws and ensure that the local
communities are being represented in a correct manner. Members of Congress focusing on these local
issues drives the need for pork barreling. There are potential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These members of Congress are focused on spending federal funding on companies or people that
would result in benefiting themselves. The members of Congress that stay within the confines of
Congress for decades may be involved with corruption with no recourse for their actions. This is
because the incumbent party has an advantage over the rivaling party on the premise that they are
already in office. One of the main examples of this can be seen in the Keating Five in the late 1980 s.
Five senators, who were given donations by Charles Keating, influenced a regulatory agency on
behalf of Keating s savings and loan institution, which was under investigation (Otteson 1991). These
senators were dealt no punishment, while two of the senators were actually re elected. This not only
displays the potential corruption, but also shows how strong the incumbent party is when facing
elections. If term limits were enacted, these men would have not been able to be re elected and new
senators could have taken their positions. . This ability for change in the members of Congress can
bring about new ideals and outlooks onto common issues that the country faces today. In addition to
the new ideals, the changing of Congress will allow for the constituents to develop more of an interest
in the government affairs. With new candidates, people will be forced to focus on

The Discovery Of The Corona Project Essay
The Corona project was developed from the 1946 Operation Crossroads where the US government
was conducting and underwater testing in the bikini islands. The US government was interested in
studying the effects of an underwater nuclear explosion on a naval fleet so they took decommissioned
Navy ships and set them up above the area of the explosion. To observe the test the US sent a large
amount of RB 29 airplanes above the test site laden with cameras and photographic reconnaissance
experts to operate them. The effects of the explosion were so devastating that the naval ships were
tossed around like they were made of paper. Walter Levison like many others that observed this
experiment were WWII veterans and were so appalled by the destruction of the bomb that they wanted
the US government to start focusing on how to prevent war rather than creating more nuclear weapons
At this time in history the threat of a third world war was foremost on everyone s mind as the cold war
between the Soviet Union and the US was heating up. There was a real fear at this time that the soviet
union was developing nuclear weapons for a surprise attack on Europe and the US. The actual strength

Hofstede s Improve Four Dimensions Helping Others
Analysing 116 000 survey questionnaires, Hofstede s improve four dimensions helping others to
understand different culture behaviour. These dimensions were created based on simple problems that
most societies have every day.
The first dimension, power distance (PD), refers to hierarchy , to how inequality is approved by
subordinates and superiors, how power is divided between societies and how people behave with
authority. Hofstede divided this dimension in low which are societies with characteristics as inequality
at the minimum level, everyone enjoy the same benefits, subordinates opinion is taken into account,
managers should be democrat and high that includes societies that are autocrats superiors, centralized
structure, dependent subordinates, hierarchy reflects difference, superiors have benefits.
The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel
threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. This dimension is divided in low
and the main characteristics are rules are not allowed, common sense, hard work is not a virtue, not
structured activities. In the other side there re societies with the high uncertainty avoidance
characterized for don t allow changes, established rules, just in necessary cases, experts have the better
knowledge.
Then is the Individualism vs Group/collectivist orientation, this dimension shows How people
distribute their social life, importance of group life, goal achievements

Subcontractor Resource Management Essay
Specialist contractors generally known as subcontractors perform the majority of the work on
commercial construction projects. They face significant challenges in allocating their resources across
multiple, concurrent projects (O Brien and Fischer 2000). Despite their central nature to project
performance, relatively little research has been performed to formally model their operations. Without
such modeling, there exists little basis from which to measure or improve performance. This
dissertation attempts to address the limited literature by providing a formal, information model for
subcontractor resource management. There are three main contributions: First, addition to the general
literature on subcontractor management as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

capturing the practice of resource allocation is apparent and imperative. Unfortunately, existing
literature is missing a way which can detailed describe the processes of resource allocation. There is a
pressing need to provide such a representation as a basis to improve subcontractor resource
management performance.
1.2 Case Study: Ellis Air Subcontractor
A case study conducted as part of this research is briefly previewed . Ellis Air is an air/mechanical
subcontractor located in Melbourne, Australia. Ellis Air currently has twenty three employees and
works on seven to eight projects concurrently. The number of employees varies from eighteen to
twenty eight because they may hire temporary employees.
Ellis Air manually manages schedules and resources. To perform resource allocation, the project

Relationship Between Dating And Relationship Essay
Introduction
For a relationship to survive those involved have to make sacrifices and watch out for any threats to
the relationship. Although there is more than just information on dating and relationship traps to
ensure a successful relationship learning of the many traps to a relationship and making an effort to
avoid them increases the chances of survival of a relationship.
Dating and Relationship Traps
1. Marketing Trap.
This happens when one the partner s feels that they need to make themselves more appealing so as to
attract or to be attractive enough to their desired mates. When one falls into this trap you are afraid
that no one will accept you as you are and insecurity gets in the relationship. Insecurity can lead to
doubts in a relationship, obsession and finally tear the relationship apart.
2. Packaging Trap.
This is when a spouse over emphasizes on the partners attributes, like body, job of the spouse, what
kind of car they drive, looks wealth etc. And this obsession overshadows the true reality of a person.
This trap can lead people into undesired relationships filled with quarrels and incompatibility issues.
3. Scarcity Trap.
Scarcity trap stems from the assumption that there is not enough possible partners so people get into
relationships with whomever is available. This eventually leads to failure in relationships due to the
temptation of settling for less than what one deserves.
4. Compatibility Trap.
The assumption that having fun and getting along

The Laramie Project Analysis
The room fell silent as the story of Mathew Shepard was told in the OU Meacham Auditorium.
Throughout The Laramie Project I could hear the gasps and tears of my fellow students. This was not
the first time I watched The Laramie Project, but the film still had a profound effect on me.
The interviews with Laramie citizens seemed to describe different perceptions of hate crimes
committed against the LGBT across the globe; not just in Laramie, Wyoming. People tend to think
that bad things happen to other people. The citizens of Laramie could not come to terms with the fact
that such a heinous crime took place in their town. To make things worse the crime took place at the
hands of two of their citizens, Aaron McKinny and Russell Henderson. People who commit hate
crimes do not look any different than anyone else. Society stereotype what a criminal ... Show more

Even if it was true that Matt made a sexual advance on Aaron or Russell it did not give them the right
to murder him. Some members of the community thought that Matt s actions excused Aaron s and
Russell s. They had no proof that Matt made sexual advances. They made the assumption that because
Matt was gay that his main focus was his sexuality. That being gay made him a sexual deviant.
Unfortunately Matt was not alive to defend himself.
Even after Aaron and Russell were found guilty of murder the citizens had a difficult time with the
possibility of them receiving the death penalty. They felt that they should get concurrent life
sentences. The families wanted the opportunity to have them back in their lives at some point, but
Aaron and Russell took that option away from Matt s family. Different members of the community

The Story Of Ghosts By Henrik Ibsen
Duty To Death The story of Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen shows us a multitude of issues, whether the
readers think the piece as a basic form of literature or believe that the scripture shows the issues and
lies or the fighting facts of injustice in the text. The constant fight between free will and duty in this
story triumphs the characters of Mrs. Alving and Pastor Manders as they convene over what they think
is right and what they are bound to do, even as the smaller character of Regine slightly deals with the
same issue.
Duty comes up in repeated cycles throughout the script of Ghosts, and the roles people are bound to in
their life relays to the role they act in society. The duty of Mrs. Alving is no soft tale, as we are told of
her husband s horrid affairs. The wife and mother of her nature and setting is duty bound to protect her
husband s reputation, no matter how unsavory he is, and to sacrifice everything for her son. In return,
the son must love his mother. In a way, we question the duty of the mother and ask whether or not it
was right of Mrs. Alving to cover her husband s actions from her son, Osvald. Despite Ibsen s opinion
of conspiracy, the cover up and how he writes the script as if he supports the hiding and the sacrifice,
the reader on their own must make a choice in the matter. For Mrs. Alving to know her motherly duty
and protect her son during his young years was a courageous execution for the paths she found
available. As said by George Bernard Shaw in

while he is respected but he isn t on the same level as Holmes. He is also respected for his work as a

who is often troubled and socially awkward with people. He also deals with psychological noise with
the fact that he sees everything he call it both a gift and a curse at the same time. Holmes and Watson
both have different degrees of perceived self and presenting self. In Watson case his is more concerned
with his presenting self than Sherlock is (C. M. Shaw R. Edwards, 1997). This can be seen in several
cases in the movie when Watson is going to meet his Fiancee s parents for teat he is both concerned

how the world around him perceives him nor does he try to change or alter his appearance to suit

Evolution Of American Foreign Diplomacy To Monroe s...
1. Trace the evolution of American foreign diplomacy from Washington s isolationism to Monroe s
interventionist policies.
Throughout history, George Washington and James Monroe generated many different foreign policies
that helped flourish America across the world. During George Washington s presidency, the country
had a hard time trying to gain economic power. The country was going through a tough time trying to
gain money, because the idea of trading was just not working out. Under James Monroe s presidency,
he created the Monroe Doctrine, which allowed the United States to warn the Western Hemisphere
that the U.S. would not allow for the countries in Europe to expand colonization. I will explain the
presidents in between these two presidents, while also including them.
The United States was trying to expand its trading options during the late 1770s on into the 1780s with
European nations. The U.S. had trouble with this because the country was already going failing
economically. The idea was to try to avoid conflict with any nation if possible. The view of
isolationism comes from the idea of trying to have interference with the European nations, but also
trying to avoid conflict. Washington sent John Jay over to Great Britain to try negotiate a plan for
America to trade in the Mediterranean without conflict. Washington hosted a conference in 1785, he
wanted to discuss trade regulations between the states of Virginia and Maryland. The convention was

Computer Science That Has Evolved From Pattern Recognition...
Machine Learning is a sub discipline of Computer Science that has evolved from Pattern Recognition
and Computational Learning Theory. ML is akin to Data Mining in the sense that both approaches
look for patterns in the data set and while the former trains the program to better its understanding, the
latter focuses on extraction of data for human comprehension. A typical application employing ML
would involve the design and construction of an algorithm where the program is trained through huge
samples of historical data to create a model. This model is later utilized on real time data sets to
predict what happens next. While Machine Learning itself has been around for decades, it has found
itself into reckoning with the advent of Big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amazon Web Services S3 or Microsoft s Azure are few amongst the various cloud services currently
available that allow users to store massive amounts data at unbelievably low costs.
With massive data at disposal comes the huge potential to analyze this data to draw inferences or
predict future events. But why exactly is Machine Learning moving to the cloud? A compelling reason
to move to the cloud would be the varying computational requirements in the ML lifecycle. The
process of training/ retraining your model requires enormous computation power and resources, while
the process of utilizing your trained models does not require any resources. The varying workload of
the ML lifecycle makes it an ideal candidate for the cloud. Cloud Computing is a powerful technology
that allows complex computations on massive scale data by eliminating the need to maintain dedicated
storage space or maintain expensive hardware. Also it follows intuitively to train your models in the
cloud where the data is stored. Prior to the advent of cloud based ML platforms, the only way to do
advanced analytics was to purchase packages such as SAS or IBM s SPSS or resort to tools like R.
The cloud based platforms make Machine Learning more accessible to a large group of users who
intend to deploy predictive models in order to enhance their products or services.

Flat Tax
Flat Tax Rate: Rich Households Have Had Enough Rich households have been paying too much in
taxes these past years. Earners in the top 1% pay about 43% of their incomes in tax. [While] people in
the middle quintile pay 25%. [And] the poorest fifth pays 13% (Barro). And yet some politicians, like
Donald Trump, think the solution to resolving our country s debt is by taxing the top percent more. In
reality, the United States should have a flat tax rate due to the fact that it is the fairest plan and the
hard work pertained by the top percent should be valued. The way flat tax rate works is that everyone
gets taxed the same percentage regardless of their income. For example, lets say a poor man makes
$50,000 yearly , while a rich man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also used of resources such as building schools, roads, paying government employees but the fact
of the matter is that its all for the public. Why should you make high income citizens pay for things
that everyone is using. We should all put in the same amount of money that goes into these projects,
since after all there for everyones use. Why would you penalize people that worked hard for their
money when everyone else had the opportunity to do so. Even if its old money, someone struggled to
gather that money, the government cannot just take that away. Being rich is rare privilege, not fairly
common, if not it would not feel so unique. With the method we have now we are just going to
balance everyones finances out, we need a diverse income for our population. If not people will not
have any ambition, not strive. A country has to create riches, not distribute them if they do the
economy as we know it will go in a decadence. Those that are in the highest class have studied and
trained so hard to where they are. Most of them have corporations in which provide work, if a flat tax
was issued those same corporations would have more resources to expand their business to create
more job. With the rate our tax plans are going corporations are going no other option then lay people

2500 Years Of War Summary
Introduction
...Marketing warfare will provide a strategic model for company survival in the 21st century...
The authors main aim in publishing this text was to bring to the forefront the aggressive behaviours
displayed in the marketing process of a firm in order to keep their brand and company number one in a
competitive industry. In addition, they wanted to show how the principles used in warfare are the same
as that used in marketing. As a result, firms could look at different tactics used in war and apply it to
their organization.

Deadlines are often missed and a company often loses credibility in the eyes of the public.
Ries and Trout believe that it is strategy that determines success not hard work. In marketing, a firm
will achieve success through a smarter strategy and not by doing more paperwork and spending longer
time in meetings.
The nature of the battleground
This section addresses the importance of where marketing battles are fought in the minds of the
consumer.
Like any battle, the terrain must be carefully studied and analyzed for its defensive and offensive
possibilities. The enemy s position must also be carefully examined, taking note of strengths and
weaknesses.
In marketing warfare what you are trying to find out is who holds the higher ground. This would give
you an advantage over your competitors.
In a military war, hills and mountains represent strong positions and are used to present a strong
defence. In comparison to a marketing warfare, management refers to strong positions as high ground.
When a customer uses a brand name in place of generic, this shows who holds mountain in their mind.
An example of this in the book is when consumers label all tissues as Kleenex.
Mountains are segmented and competitors may launch different brands each targeting a specific
segment. Today, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick each own different segments of the
automobile market.

Renaissance Dance Pros And Cons
Dance in the Renaissance Era is an era that is very intriguing but also very amazing because we can
see where dance really started and how it has evolved over time since the Renaissance Era. Although
the Renaissance is a very interesting era to examine it is also made clear what a hard era this was for
dance but also a great era for dance. I feel that within the Renaissance dance era there are a lot of pros
and cons as dance wasn t necessarily appreciated in this time and was seen as something that was
more dark and associated with death. As time went on this did change and dance truly became
something within this era for several different reasons. For me, I think this era is so great because of
all the different costumes, technique and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Baroque time there were quite a few dancing masters but the dancing master that stood out to
me for the time I am focusing on was John Playford (1623 1686). He published The English Dancing
Master in 1651 which provided information on 105 English country dances. (Sue, Norma. Baroque
Dancing Master and Dances. ) Through this period there were many great dancing masters and
manuals. Although this was very important in this time the technique and movement of this era is
where my real focus lies. Within this era there were 5 selected dance steps that were always used and
then put together into a sequence. The 5 steps are; demi coupe, coupe, pas de bourree, temps de
courante and the minuet step. All of these steps were then put together and you had do them and in a
faster manor which was hard because you aren t familiar with the steps but it is a step you know but it
seems harder when put into a different sequence to different music. The steps in the Baroque time
were very interesting but the movement qualities are something that would be very hard to adjust to as
this is something that has evolved and changed over time as dance has also got more difficult over
time. The movement qualities of include low legs, vertical movements, weight primarily on the ball of
one foot, relaxed toes, 90 degree turnout and fluttering embroideries of arms and legs. (Sue, Norma.
Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) From this we can see how the movement qualities are very
different from what we do now as the toes would very be relaxed because we now practice a full
pointe at all times and we also now practice 180 degree turnout and you don t even really see 90
degree turnout anymore as everyone strives to have that perfect turnout. Although these movement
qualities have changed it is quite

The Formula Of Zinc And Hydrochloric Acid
In this lab, we balanced the equation xZn(s) + yHCl(aq) → ZnxCly (s) + y/2H2(g) by the information
obtained from the lab. When zinc and hydrochloric acid are mixed together, the reaction took place in
an evaporating dish that was accompanied by hydrogen gas. Then we measured out the mass of zinc
and chlorine in the reaction and calculated the empirical formula of zinc chloride which was ZnCl8.
Based on the conservation of mass, we balanced the equation and got Zn(s) + 8 HCl (aq) → ZnCl8 (s)
+ 4 H2 (g). In the second part of the experiment, we obtained copper wire and sulfur from the
instructor. Then we measured out the mass of copper and added proper amount of sulfur to cover the
copper wire. During the lab, copper with sulfur was heated, and the reaction was carried out. We saw
the blue flame occurred on the crucible. We determined the empirical formula of copper sulfide, which
was Cu2S. Then, the equation was balanced easily from the obtained data which was 2Cu + S = Cu2S.
Introduction:

Often student oriented teaching provides a relatively convenient platform for active learning, and I
count upon feedback from students to restructure my teaching methods. I appreciate that the use of
technology can breathe new life into the traditional way of teaching a subject. Based on my
interdisciplinary academic training, I realize that classroom teaching can prepare students to apply
knowledge and skills, gained from studying a specific subject, to a variety of areas. I find it
particularly rewarding that classroom teaching also offers an interactive means for motivating
undergraduate students toward a self teaching process. My teaching and mentoring experiences have
made me realize that a key element of my teaching process should focus on engaging students in
learning by connecting their ideas and organizing their thoughts on a topic. Relying on my research
training, I am striving to build part of my basic teaching approach that can extend my endeavors to
encourage students toward an independent thinking process. I have recognized that an efficiently

Questions such as You speak English well. Where did you learn it? (DiversityInc) and Where are you

Since Asia is a vast and thriving country, there are plenty of different languages Korean, Japanese,

However, language barriers present a problem to Asian Americans especially in the older generations.
One of the contributing factor to the differences between AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific
Islanders) group is English proficiency... (Migrante21). The reason why English proficiency is a factor
in Asian Americans is because some Asian American households only have one language spoken at
home. By retaining their languages at home, the elderly has very little chances to speak English unless
they are speaking to their grandchildren or their children. This type of language isolation is very
prevalent in my own household where my mom and dad sometimes have a tough time speaking in
English and would often stumble on their own words. This is because in the household,

As preparers for Mr. Wells 2012 Tax Return our team made several assumptions, some of which

assumptions broken down by IRS Form or Schedule:
Schedule C
Part I
For Line 1 our group made the assumption that the $2,912,909 amount Jack listed in the client
questionnaire included the $11,616 credit he gave his customers from interest earned on deposits held
in escrow. For Line 6 we determined the interest that he should ... Show more content on

Form 8949
We know Jack acquired the stock in 2001 as part of an inheritance, but we don t have the exact date of
death of the relative he inherited the stock from. On the form we reported the last day of the year as
this would be the most conservative estimate for the holding period for short term vs. long term. Since
2001 was several years ago this doesn t impact the holding period for the stock. It is long term. We
also assumed that the stock value was $39.21/share. The price needed would actually be the closing
price on the date of death of Jack s relative.
Form 1040 Schedule A
For lines 6 and 10 of the schedule we determined that deducting 90% of Jack s stated amounts was
appropriate because he already deducted the other 10% on Form 8829. For Line 16 we determined
based on research that the Atlanta Symphony was a for profit enterprise and as such his contribution to
the organization is not deductable.
Opportunities for Tax Savings and Tax Planning 1) We determined that Jack s contribution to the
Atlanta Symphony was not a deductable contribution on the 1040 because the organization is a for

The Trade in Art, Fine Art, Antiques and Antiquities and...
The trade in art, fine art, antiques and antiquities is not portrayed as a violent crime or illicit market
and generally does not come off as a threat to international security. However, because of the large,
increasing demand for antiquities, politically unstable source nations rich with cultural artifacts are
exploited, prompting illicit activity in the clandestine art world, which is becoming an increasing
concern. Terrorist organizations profit from the large financial volume of such low risk, high profit
illicit activities and engage in cultural erosion that leaves the source nations weak in cultural identity.
This in turn, allows terrorist groups the advantage of pursuing and shaping ideological notions in such
volatile nations. The illicit, clandestine art market is also a unique market in which to create backdoor
channels to organized crime, weapon trafficking and narcotic smuggling trade routes.
The art market is attracting attention due to some of the recent, notably high sales prices;
unfortunately, such a profitable return rate from art sales provides enticement for terrorist groups to
participate. The link of terrorism turns the subject of cultural property from a disputable matter in
foreign relations to a matter with significant implications pertaining to international security. Local
laborers, eager to provide a living for their family, have no qualms about looting cultural artifacts and
selling them to make a profit. The network between laborers, dealers,

  • 2. Can Critical Regionalism Counteract The Impact Of... Can Critical Regionalism counteract the impact of Globalisation on our cities? In the era of constant networking and relaying of information, the world has become a much smaller place. The shrinking world has somewhat become a familiar spectacle of identical fads and lifestyles. At least in the developed countries, globalisation has given birth to homogenous consumer culture. Demonstrated not only by the expansion of multi national cooperations such as Apple and Starbucks but also by the indistinct architecture. It is a common sighting in urban cities today to see the identical steel, concrete and glass structures. This occurrence might be innate due to the easy exportation of concepts and architects, however not obligatory. Whilst advancing towards a modern society, architects have adapted this universal style of architecture that fails to represent the unique topography of different cities. Architects have the choice to either repeat the same building everywhere or to push ourselves forward, to create an encounter between ourselves and the local culture (Koolhaas, 2012). If the notion of Critical Regionalism were to be practiced by architects through the integration of the local culture with modern techniques, it could potentially return the missing identities of these cities. Critical Regionalism was devised during the early 20th century, as an attempt to reject the monotony developed by the International Style and the purposeless ornamentation utilised by ... • 3. The Bourgeoisie Essay Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low and high art distinctions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the commodification of natural resources, there becomes a dependency between those who control the resources and all those who need to use them. At this stage of society people are no longer self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society. Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. The rich and poor binary can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Contradiction between Beliefs and Actions in... One of the oldest problems of humanity is the contradiction between beliefs and actions. The Shepardsons and the Grangerfords act out this contradiction in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Contradictions One of the oldest problems of humanity is the contradiction between beliefs and actions. The Shepardsons and the Grangerfords act out this contradiction in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Although these families attend church and pay lip service to the teachings of the church, they do not live by these teachings. The act of Christian men and woman, such as in the Catholic faith, is often contradictory as to how they believe they should live their lives. In the book Adventures of Huckleberry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This consistent routine has embedded itself within the individual with no possible chance of exodus. The feud and church goers are similar even in their dress attire, yet another entity these two have share in. Col. Grangerford is described as a gentleman all over; and so was his family (Twain, 96). The Colonel was kind, well mannered, quiet and far from frivolish. The Colonel dressed well, was clean shaven and his face had not a sign of red in it anywheres (Twain, 96). These qualities are similar to those that one would find at a religious service. The person would most probably attend in their best outfit, clean shaven, and cleaned from head to toe. Their manners would be comparable to Col. Grangerford as well, acting like a gentleman at all times during while attending the service. Both the feud and the attendance of church are this consistent routine, and both are followed till without understanding until the individual who partakes in them parish. For thousands of years, people have attended some type of liturgical service without full understanding of it, and for several generations, the Shepardsons and Grangerfords have been feuding with no real basis or understanding as to why. • 5. Rhetorical Analysis Of Blood, Toil, Tears, And Sweat On May 13th, 1940, newly elected Prime Minister Winston Churchill delivered a historic speech titled Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat . He discusses the necessity of an empowered Great Britain in the shadow of World War II; as well as his confidence within the strength of the British people. This speech s lasting impact was reinforced by it s usage of the three appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos. These appeals address the ethical, logical, and emotional ideas and undertones within a piece. Churchill s iconic speech truly encapsulates these three appeals within every word. Ethos is considered to be the ethical aspect of a piece. In other words: is the information and speaker reputable and trustworthy? This appeal is clearly demonstrated within Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat . For example, Churchill states In this crisis I hope I may be pardoned if I do not address the House at any length today. I hope that any of my friends and colleagues, or former colleagues, who are affected by the political reconstruction, will make allowance, all allowance, for any lack of ceremony ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He demonstrates a sense of respect for those listening to his word and those who he works with, which creates trust in the audience and gives a reputable air to his words. Logos refers to the logic of a work, addressing if the piece is able to be understood and makes sense. This appeal is demonstrated in the line Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for (Churchill). Churchill frankly states that without action, the British Empire and its values will crumble in the face of Nazi Germany. This clear and conscience delivery of Britain s fate is logical and able to be understood. So in turn, the appeal logos can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A person s morals or personal code can reflect a person s character. I realized mine throughout the time I spent taking care of my great grandmother. My personal code is to always be generous, kind, and considerate. Kindness can always go a long way. I try and live my life by treating others the way I would want to be treated. It s not a bad thing to be considerate of other people and what they care about or their feelings. At the beginning of my freshman year my great grandmother had a stroke while at home. • 7. The Case Buck Versus Bell Many people have heard of the case Buck versus Bell. This was a land mark supreme court case in 1927. This case basis is eugenics, which is the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding. Most people today would disagree with this on premise alone. In the case Buck versus Bell the decision being heard was can doctors sterilize patients that were feeble minded or have epilepsy. As Carrie s story unfolds you will see not only is feeble minded a broad term She was wronged not only on the merits of the case, but in the process of justice. Carrie Buck was placed in a home called Virginia Colony for Epileptics and Feebleminded alongside her mother. Now at the time there were other states practicing eugenics. This was the first case to challenge Virginia s 1924 ruling allowing it. Carrie and her mom were labeled feeble minded and promiscuous. They would later go on to label Carrie daughter Vivian feeble minded also. Let us take a step back. Carrie was born in Charlottesville Virginia. Her birth took place on July 2, 1906. Her father Frank W. Buck passed away when she was only a young girl. Her mother was committed, when Carrie was still young. The mother was committed for feeble mindedness. • 8. Johnston Gate Research Paper The Johnston Gate The monumental iron gates still stand today strong today. The gates overall presence dividing the busy streets of Cambridge and the tranquility of Harvard Yard. Just north of Harvard Square stands Johnston gate, for students to enter daily and for city goers and tourists to pass by. Despite its bold and perhaps intimidating appearance, seas of people flood through to catch a glimpse of Harvard Yard and to stop to take a picture with the famous John Harvard Statue. The gate however, has not been present since the institution s founding. Samuel Johnston was a proud member of Harvard s graduating class of 1855. Several years later, Johnston decided to donate 10,000 dollars to build a gate, leading to the entrance of the famous Harvard Yard. The gate was designed by Charles McKim, an architect and a graduate of Harvard. He designed the gates to have a lavish design, and to be constructed of metals and hand made red bricks; the bricks ... The complex design was not seen as tasteful and contradicted the Puritan values that the school was founded upon. The symbolism within the design of the gate still had a cross at the top of the fence representing the Divinity School and Harvard s Puritan founding. • 9. Bodybuilding Nutrition And Nutrition Bodybuilding Nutrition Bodybuilding is a sport where men and women s goal is to achieve a symmetrical and muscular physique with low body fat percentages, usually in order to win a competition. Many factors go into reaching these goals such as resistant training, genetics, mental will power and nutrition. While all of these factors are important to a bodybuilder, nutrition seems to be one of the most important, most researched and most tested and manipulated branch of the bodybuilders lifestyle. Specifically, the effects of protein on a bodybuilder, the ideal macronutrient ratios (carbs, fat, and protein) for fat loss and muscle maintenance. and nutrition s effect on resistance training recovery have been studies to further optimize a bodybuilders physique. The important yet controversial topic of optional protein intake has been a hot topic for years in many areas such as the needs for sedentary induvial, sports athletes, Olympic athletes and bodybuilders. However it is generally agreed upon that while the RDA standard of .75 .80 g/kg of body weight a day is enough to keep those with physical activities in there day to day life in a positive nitrogen balance, this is not the case for bodybuilders due to their goals of increasing muscle mass and intense training. (Masedu, Ziruolo, Valenti, Di Giulio, 2012) A more beneficial protein intake for bodybuilders should sit around 1.7 2.2 g/kg of body weight a day if the induvial wants to see optimal results with regards to ... • 10. The Impact Of The Age Of Enlightenment In Western Europe The Age of Enlightenment saw many great changes in Western Europe. It was an age of reason and philosophes. During this age, changes the likes of which had not been seen since ancient times took place. Such change affected evert pore of Western European society. Many might argue that the Enlightenment really did not bring any real change, however, there exists and overwhelming amount of facts which prove, without question, that the spirit of the Enlightenment was one of change specifically change which went against the previous teachings of the Catholic Church. Such change is apparent in the ideas, questions, and philosophies of the time, in the study of science, and throughout the monarchial system. Previously, the Catholic Church had professed to the entire medieval world that faith in God was absolute. Indeed, the medieval world was truly an age of faith. As such, ideas that went against the teachings of God were ignored and their preachers subsequently murdered. After the Crusades brought back old Aristotelian learning from the middle east, all this changed. Advances in Geography were made with the introduction of Ptolemaic Geography. More importantly than the rediscovery of ancient geography was the beginning of skepticism in Western Europe. No longer would the Church s word be taken on faith. The idea that the physical world could be understood through the use of empiricism analytical thought was also introduced. René Descartes even began to doubt his own existence ... There was a serious wetland loss from 56.17% in 1993 to 28.57% in 2002 in Canaan Valley area due to the dramatically decrease in forested/ shrub wetland. The remaining total wetland area was estimated only 8814.606 acres by 2002, which was about half of wetland in 1993. The dominant wetland type was still forested/shrub wetland. Emergent wetland occupied a small amount with 16.6% of total wetland area. The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge kept the main wetland. Both dry season (see in Appendix) and rainy season data show this big decrease happened in south part of Canaan Valley area. The disappeared wetland was replaced by urban area. From 1993 to 2002, urban area increased from 7.54% to 42.44% of total Canaan Valley area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s clear to see that the major wetland area remained is in the east part of Tucker County, which is far away from the cities and roads network (Figure 5.1). Urbanization is a major cause of wetland loss. With increased population, more and more areas need to be extended for human activities. For many years, the value of wetland was underestimated. Roads and bridges are frequently constructed across wetlands since people thought wetlands have low land value. • 12. Boo Radley Analysis A Life in the Darkness Are some people really as horrible as others depict them? At the beginning of the book To Kill a Mockingbird, many readers believe that Boo Radley is extremely malicious and psychotic, but in reality, this is not the case. For example, this quotation shows how Jem, the main character s brother, assumes Boo is demented: Nobody knew what form of intimidation Mr. Radley employed to keep Boo out of sight, but Jem figured that Mr. Radley kept him chained to the bed (14). Throughout the story, many people s ideas about Boo Radley change, especially in the end when he rescues the children. This part shows Arthur s heroism because if he had not fixed the pants, Jem, Scout, and Dill would have been in a massive amount of trouble. Atticus tells the kids to stop harassing Arthur, but they persist, and in the end, Arthur saves them. Close to the end of the novel, when Scout and Jem are being followed by Bob Ewell, Arthur Radley comes out of his house, stabs Bob (who would have killed both the children), and then takes Jem, who is extremely injured, back to the Finch house. Because Arthur does not usually come out of his house, this part comes as a surprise to all readers and shows that Arthur Radley is a hero. Lastly, despite the children s original ideas about Arthur Radley, he turns out to be an extremely compassionate man. First of all, Arthur gives Jem and Scout little trinkets indirectly by using a knothole in a tree until Nathan Radley patches the hole up. Arthur gives the children a watch, chewing gum, and many varieties of knick knacks. Second, when Miss Maudie s house burns down, Jem and Scout are cold, and they receive a blanket anonymously from Arthur. Third, after Bob Ewell attacks Jem and Scout in the woods, Arthur takes Jem back to his house and then, later, strokes Jem s cheeks affectionately. Scout tells Arthur, You can pet him, Mr. Arthur, he s asleep. You couldn t if he was awake, though, he wouldn t let you... (372). • 14. Analysis Of The Video Game Console Market Essay Five Forces Analysis Threat of New Entry When it comes to entering the video game console market there are a lot of costs that are incurred. This limits the amount of competition that is coming in from an outside source. Microsoft spent over 100 million dollars on research and development alone for the Xbox one controller (Ron, 2013). This is a huge cost that new companies usually cannot absorb when first starting out. There is also a huge cost difference from new producers and long standing producers due to experience and the economies of scale that the top companies have. The last factor that really deters companies from entering the console game is the fierce brand loyalty that inhabits the video game market. Most consumers once they pick a side stick to it, this can span as far back as childhood. On release the PlayStation 4 had better specs then the Xbox One, and yet 42% of previous Xbox owners choose the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4 (Sakraida, 2014). Competition In the gaming industry competition comes from every direction. The most commonly thought of outside sources of competition are the PC industry and mobile gaming industry. In the place where many young adults begin to learn who they are and who they want to be while enjoying a comfortable freedom and safety among their peers discovered freedom and safety could not always be guaranteed. One of the most discussed topics surrounded sexual assault has been the People v. Turner. Brock Turner was an undergraduate student at Stanford University in Northern California when he was apprehended by two Swedish international students who witnessed Turner sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. The students who stopped Turner from continuing to assault the young woman stated that they intervened because they could tell that the woman was clearly unconscious. Turner was then subsequently arrested, charged and indicted on two counts of felony assault and one count of attempted rape. However, it was the consequences that Turner faced for his actions which have upset many. One of the main examples of this can be seen in the Keating Five in the late 1980 s. Five senators, who were given donations by Charles Keating, influenced a regulatory agency on behalf of Keating s savings and loan institution, which was under investigation (Otteson 1991). • 26. The Story Of Ghosts By Henrik Ibsen Duty To Death The story of Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen shows us a multitude of issues, whether the readers think the piece as a basic form of literature or believe that the scripture shows the issues and lies or the fighting facts of injustice in the text. The constant fight between free will and duty in this story triumphs the characters of Mrs. Alving and Pastor Manders as they convene over what they think is right and what they are bound to do, even as the smaller character of Regine slightly deals with the same issue. Duty comes up in repeated cycles throughout the script of Ghosts, and the roles people are bound to in their life relays to the role they act in society. The duty of Mrs. Alving is no soft tale, as we are told of her husband s horrid affairs. The wife and mother of her nature and setting is duty bound to protect her husband s reputation, no matter how unsavory he is, and to sacrifice everything for her son. In return, the son must love his mother. In a way, we question the duty of the mother and ask whether or not it was right of Mrs. Alving to cover her husband s actions from her son, Osvald. Despite Ibsen s opinion of conspiracy, the cover up and how he writes the script as if he supports the hiding and the sacrifice, the reader on their own must make a choice in the matter. Throughout history, George Washington and James Monroe generated many different foreign policies that helped flourish America across the world. During George Washington s presidency, the country had a hard time trying to gain economic power. The country was going through a tough time trying to gain money, because the idea of trading was just not working out. Under James Monroe s presidency, he created the Monroe Doctrine, which allowed the United States to warn the Western Hemisphere that the U.S. would not allow for the countries in Europe to expand colonization. I will explain the presidents in between these two presidents, while also including them. The United States was trying to expand its trading options during the late 1770s on into the 1780s with European nations. The U.S. had trouble with this because the country was already going failing economically. The idea was to try to avoid conflict with any nation if possible. The view of isolationism comes from the idea of trying to have interference with the European nations, but also trying to avoid conflict. A typical application employing ML would involve the design and construction of an algorithm where the program is trained through huge samples of historical data to create a model. • 30. Flat Tax Flat Tax Rate: Rich Households Have Had Enough Rich households have been paying too much in taxes these past years. Earners in the top 1% pay about 43% of their incomes in tax. [While] people in the middle quintile pay 25%. [And] the poorest fifth pays 13% (Barro). And yet some politicians, like Donald Trump, think the solution to resolving our country s debt is by taxing the top percent more. In reality, the United States should have a flat tax rate due to the fact that it is the fairest plan and the hard work pertained by the top percent should be valued. The way flat tax rate works is that everyone gets taxed the same percentage regardless of their income. For example, lets say a poor man makes $50,000 yearly , while a rich man ... Why should you make high income citizens pay for things that everyone is using. We should all put in the same amount of money that goes into these projects, since after all there for everyones use. Why would you penalize people that worked hard for their money when everyone else had the opportunity to do so. Even if its old money, someone struggled to gather that money, the government cannot just take that away. Being rich is rare privilege, not fairly common, if not it would not feel so unique. With the method we have now we are just going to balance everyones finances out, we need a diverse income for our population. If not people will not have any ambition, not strive. A country has to create riches, not distribute them if they do the economy as we know it will go in a decadence. Those that are in the highest class have studied and trained so hard to where they are. Most of them have corporations in which provide work, if a flat tax was issued those same corporations would have more resources to expand their business to create more job. • 31. 2500 Years Of War Summary Introduction ...Marketing warfare will provide a strategic model for company survival in the 21st century... The authors main aim in publishing this text was to bring to the forefront the aggressive behaviours displayed in the marketing process of a firm in order to keep their brand and company number one in a competitive industry. In addition, they wanted to show how the principles used in warfare are the same as that used in marketing. As a result, firms could look at different tactics used in war and apply it to their organization. Book Summary 2500 Years of War As a prelude to what laid ahead Al Reis and Jack Trout gave a synopsis of the many battles that took place over a 2500 year period. Such an account laid a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deadlines are often missed and a company often loses credibility in the eyes of the public. Ries and Trout believe that it is strategy that determines success not hard work. In marketing, a firm will achieve success through a smarter strategy and not by doing more paperwork and spending longer time in meetings. The nature of the battleground This section addresses the importance of where marketing battles are fought in the minds of the consumer. Like any battle, the terrain must be carefully studied and analyzed for its defensive and offensive possibilities. The enemy s position must also be carefully examined, taking note of strengths and weaknesses. In marketing warfare what you are trying to find out is who holds the higher ground. This would give you an advantage over your competitors. In a military war, hills and mountains represent strong positions and are used to present a strong defence. In comparison to a marketing warfare, management refers to strong positions as high ground. When a customer uses a brand name in place of generic, this shows who holds mountain in their mind. An example of this in the book is when consumers label all tissues as Kleenex. Mountains are segmented and competitors may launch different brands each targeting a specific segment. Today, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick each own different segments of the automobile market.

  • 33. Renaissance Dance Pros And Cons Dance in the Renaissance Era is an era that is very intriguing but also very amazing because we can see where dance really started and how it has evolved over time since the Renaissance Era. Although the Renaissance is a very interesting era to examine it is also made clear what a hard era this was for dance but also a great era for dance. I feel that within the Renaissance dance era there are a lot of pros and cons as dance wasn t necessarily appreciated in this time and was seen as something that was more dark and associated with death. As time went on this did change and dance truly became something within this era for several different reasons. For me, I think this era is so great because of all the different costumes, technique and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Baroque time there were quite a few dancing masters but the dancing master that stood out to me for the time I am focusing on was John Playford (1623 1686). He published The English Dancing Master in 1651 which provided information on 105 English country dances. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) Through this period there were many great dancing masters and manuals. Although this was very important in this time the technique and movement of this era is where my real focus lies. Within this era there were 5 selected dance steps that were always used and then put together into a sequence. The 5 steps are; demi coupe, coupe, pas de bourree, temps de courante and the minuet step. All of these steps were then put together and you had do them and in a faster manor which was hard because you aren t familiar with the steps but it is a step you know but it seems harder when put into a different sequence to different music. The steps in the Baroque time were very interesting but the movement qualities are something that would be very hard to adjust to as this is something that has evolved and changed over time as dance has also got more difficult over time. The movement qualities of include low legs, vertical movements, weight primarily on the ball of one foot, relaxed toes, 90 degree turnout and fluttering embroideries of arms and legs. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) From this we can see how the movement qualities are very different from what we do now as the toes would very be relaxed because we now practice a full pointe at all times and we also now practice 180 degree turnout and you don t even really see 90 degree turnout anymore as everyone strives to have that perfect turnout. Although these movement qualities have changed it is quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Formula Of Zinc And Hydrochloric Acid In this lab, we balanced the equation xZn(s) + yHCl(aq) → ZnxCly (s) + y/2H2(g) by the information obtained from the lab. When zinc and hydrochloric acid are mixed together, the reaction took place in an evaporating dish that was accompanied by hydrogen gas. Then we measured out the mass of zinc and chlorine in the reaction and calculated the empirical formula of zinc chloride which was ZnCl8. Based on the conservation of mass, we balanced the equation and got Zn(s) + 8 HCl (aq) → ZnCl8 (s) + 4 H2 (g). In the second part of the experiment, we obtained copper wire and sulfur from the instructor. Then we measured out the mass of copper and added proper amount of sulfur to cover the copper wire. During the lab, copper with sulfur was heated, and the reaction was carried out. We saw the blue flame occurred on the crucible. We determined the empirical formula of copper sulfide, which was Cu2S. Then, the equation was balanced easily from the obtained data which was 2Cu + S = Cu2S. Introduction: The purpose of this lab is to become familiar with chemical formulas and how they re obtained. Chemical formulas represent what are produced from a chemical reaction. Compounds composed of molecules are called molecular compounds, which may or may not contain more than one type of atom. Chemical formulas indicating actual numbers and types of atoms in a molecule are called molecular formulas, whereas chemical formulas that indicate only the relative numbers of atoms of a type of ... Often student oriented teaching provides a relatively convenient platform for active learning, and I count upon feedback from students to restructure my teaching methods. I appreciate that the use of technology can breathe new life into the traditional way of teaching a subject. Based on my interdisciplinary academic training, I realize that classroom teaching can prepare students to apply knowledge and skills, gained from studying a specific subject, to a variety of areas. I find it particularly rewarding that classroom teaching also offers an interactive means for motivating undergraduate students toward a self teaching process. My teaching and mentoring experiences have made me realize that a key element of my teaching process should focus on engaging students in learning by connecting their ideas and organizing their thoughts on a topic. Relying on my research training, I am striving to build part of my basic teaching approach that can extend my endeavors to encourage students toward an independent thinking process. I have recognized that an efficiently operating teaching method requires an iterative process of adjustment and revision; there is no ready made recipe or single faceted approach to devise an effective and rewarding teaching ... Overall, the American Dream is dying and it is much harder for a person now to achieve it if he or she does not have any direct connections or a higher education and a more well off economic standpoint. The standards in the society has made is much more difficult for minorities to face their obstacles to pursue their dreams. One of the contributing factor to the differences between AAPI (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) group is English proficiency... (Migrante21). The reason why English proficiency is a factor in Asian Americans is because some Asian American households only have one language spoken at home. By retaining their languages at home, the elderly has very little chances to speak English unless they are speaking to their grandchildren or their children. This type of language isolation is very prevalent in my own household where my mom and dad sometimes have a tough time speaking in English and would often stumble on their own words. Tax Return for Jake Wells Essay 2012 Tax Return and Issues Memo Prepared For: Jack Wells Issues and Questions for Jack Wells 2012 Tax Return As preparers for Mr. Wells 2012 Tax Return our team made several assumptions, some of which would require further input from Mr. Wells. We also ran into some opportunities for tax planning for Jack. This memo outlines those assumptions, questions, and opportunities. The following is a list of assumptions broken down by IRS Form or Schedule: Schedule C Part I For Line 1 our group made the assumption that the $2,912,909 amount Jack listed in the client questionnaire included the $11,616 credit he gave his customers from interest earned on deposits held in escrow. For Line 6 we determined the interest that he should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... S.A.L.Y. was utilized. Form 8949 We know Jack acquired the stock in 2001 as part of an inheritance, but we don t have the exact date of death of the relative he inherited the stock from. On the form we reported the last day of the year as this would be the most conservative estimate for the holding period for short term vs. long term. Since 2001 was several years ago this doesn t impact the holding period for the stock. It is long term. We also assumed that the stock value was $39.21/share. The price needed would actually be the closing price on the date of death of Jack s relative. Form 1040 Schedule A For lines 6 and 10 of the schedule we determined that deducting 90% of Jack s stated amounts was appropriate because he already deducted the other 10% on Form 8829. For Line 16 we determined based on research that the Atlanta Symphony was a for profit enterprise and as such his contribution to the organization is not deductable. Opportunities for Tax Savings and Tax Planning 1) We determined that Jack s contribution to the Atlanta Symphony was not a deductable contribution on the 1040 because the organization is a for profit enterprise. If the Symphony somehow shows that Jack made a contribution on behalf of his business by putting the business name in flyers, programs, or lists his business as a sponsor of an event it is possible that Jack could deduct the amount as a business expense. • 38. The Trade in Art, Fine Art, Antiques and Antiquities and... The trade in art, fine art, antiques and antiquities is not portrayed as a violent crime or illicit market and generally does not come off as a threat to international security. However, because of the large, increasing demand for antiquities, politically unstable source nations rich with cultural artifacts are exploited, prompting illicit activity in the clandestine art world, which is becoming an increasing concern. Terrorist organizations profit from the large financial volume of such low risk, high profit illicit activities and engage in cultural erosion that leaves the source nations weak in cultural identity. This in turn, allows terrorist groups the advantage of pursuing and shaping ideological notions in such volatile nations. The illicit, clandestine art market is also a unique market in which to create backdoor channels to organized crime, weapon trafficking and narcotic smuggling trade routes. The art market is attracting attention due to some of the recent, notably high sales prices; unfortunately, such a profitable return rate from art sales provides enticement for terrorist groups to participate. The link of terrorism turns the subject of cultural property from a disputable matter in foreign relations to a matter with significant implications pertaining to international security. Local laborers, eager to provide a living for their family, have no qualms about looting cultural artifacts and selling them to make a profit. The network between laborers, dealers, ...
