Human Impacts on the Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus...
Human Impact on the Carbon, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus Cycles
Danielle Abbadusky
Everest University
Human impact on the cycling matter in ecosystems can change a lot of things. Humans can either help
or hurt things. The carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycles are the three cycles of matter in
ecosystems. What are these cycles? How do humans effect each one of these individual cycles? What
are some examples of humans effecting these cycles? What is the carbon cycle? Sequence of
processes through which carbon compounds move from one carbon reservoir or sink (such as forests
and oceans) to another (such as atmosphere) and back. Since more carbon dioxide is being released
into the atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels and less ... Show more content on

These compounds are taken up by plants as nutrients from the soil and converted into plant proteins
(amino acids). Plant proteins become animal proteins when eaten and metabolized by herbivorous
animals, and when carnivorous animals eat the herbivorous. These proteins return to the soil through
animal excrement and the decomposition of dead animals and plants, and are converted into carbon
dioxide, water, and ammonia (gaseous compound of nitrogen and hydrogen) by a set of bacteria in the
soil. A portion of this ammonia is converted into soil nitrogen (fixed nitrogen) by another set of
bacteria and the balance is released into the atmosphere as free nitrogen (N2). (nitrogen cycle, n.d.)
Human impact on this cycle is very significant. Farmers plant crops such as; peas, beans, and alfalfa.
These crops pull nitrogen from the air which helps raise the rate of nitrogen fixation on the land.
Farmers also plant corn and wheat which are sprayed with nitrogen derived from industrial fixation.
All of these crops help humans to survive. Having these crops benefiting humans we are more than
doubling the amount of nitrogen that s moved from the atmosphere to the land. When sulfur is
released by burning fossil fuels, which humans do, this is killing and polluting our lakes and ponds
and killing our forests. With these and other chemicals being put into our land, these are reaching our
oceans and big areas of water and this will

The Diary of Anne Frank Essay
The Diary of Anne Frank
In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine.
Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will begin
to compare the various aspects of her life to mine. Finally, I will draw up a conclusion.
Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the
first three years of her life, The
Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was
made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. A year
later Anne began school and in 1935 Juden Verboten ( No Jews ) appeared on signs in restaurants and
shops all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex.
Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland.
There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is when I
moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at
first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can
only imagine what it would have been like for Anne.
It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that
Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school.
This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion.
Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or
even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me,
I don t know what I would do to keep entertained.
All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go
into hiding. It finally happened in
1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in
for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July
6th,
1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr
Dussel the dentist.

Analysis Of The Article Why Hominids And Space Go...
Manned spaceflight is a crucial argument in society. Two writers, Seth Shostak and John Logsdon,
both believe that America is making a mistake by ending manned space exploration. Seth Shostak is
the author of the article Why Hominids and Space Go Together in The New York Times Room for
Debate; his article is about how President Obama s new vision for the NASA program is not a good
plan. John Logsdon also wrote an article for The New York Times Room for Debate called American
Patrimony. His article is more focused on how it will be a loss of patriotism to end manned spaceflight
in the United States. Both Shostak and Logsdon agree that manned space travel should continue, but
Shostak s rhetoric is more effective because his argument is well organized and credible, he ties in his
readers emotions efficiently, and he logically explains his beliefs.
In Shostak s article he portrays himself as a credible source, which makes his ethos appeal successful.
Shostak makes many attempts to make his article trustworthy, some of which actually diminish his
ethos. One way the writer seeks to obtain credibility is through the structure of the article. He arranged
his piece in a very organized way that states the points thoroughly and with confidence, which
portrays him as a knowledgeable source. Another way he gains credibility is through the language and
dialect he incorporates. He includes words such as autonomous rovers and anachronism which
indicates his piece is aimed at an

Does Playing Violent Video Games Promote Aggressive...
Introduction Violent video games are becoming more popular among children and adolescents of all
ages since its debut approximately 30 years ago. This growing popularity is generating an increasing
concern that these sometimes very graphic videos and life like characters can have a negative
influence on the younger generation. Although never proven, there has been speculation that some of
the high school shootings across the country were committed by students who were habitual players of
violent video games. Due to these concerns, a non profit, self regulatory organization was established
in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to appropriately rate all video games

The first study by Lynch, Paul J., Gentile, Douglas A., Olson, Abbie A., Van Brederode, Tara M.
(2001) was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on adolescent aggressive
attitudes and behaviors; had the participants of their study complete three surveys, the first being A
Video Game Habits Survey, which asked questions such as;
how often do you play video games?, What type of video games do you play?, How much violence do
you like in video games and are you aware of the game ratings? The second survey called The Hostile
Attributions Survey measures the participants perception of physical (harming someone physically)
and relational (harming someone through defamation) hostility by having participants read ten stories
and answering two questions about each story. The third survey is the Trait Hostility survey which
measures the personality trait of each participant. The second study discussed by Lee Suhn, Mickey
Barr, Rachel (2004), was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on Prosocial and
antisocial behavior by actually having participants play non violent and violent video games while two
appointed observers were recording information such as; the name, age, gender and ethnicity of the
participant, the name of the game, level of violence, and check boxes for Prosocial and antisocial
behaviors. The third study, Ihori

Themes Of Poem In Born A Crime By Trevor Noah
In Born A Crime, Trevor Noah [uses] a narrative writing style and a lighthearted tone when [retelling]
the tangled racism integrated in his childhood experience. The book progresses in a mostly linear
fashion, beginning with a childhood anecdote and his unlawful birth, and ending with the horrifying
attempted murder of his mother. In the second chapter, Noah explains that as a half white, half black
child who violated any number of laws, statutes, and regulations I was born a crime. Not only does the
statement exploit the personal hatred inflicted upon Noah for simply existing, but also exposes the
effect of racism on innocence. As the book progresses, Noah shares specific anecdotes and
experiences to project to the reader the impact of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because life in South Africa differs so drastically from life in America, understanding the other side s
perspective becomes challenging. In the interest of making the South African concepts
understandable, Noah makes connections to Western World ideas such as Planet of the Apes and
Hollywood and includes how people would say [it] in America for clarity (120 121). Consequently,
the book forms a bridge between South African and American culture to demonstrate that many of the
world s problems are one in the same. For example, at one point in the book, Noah gets pulled over,
and when asked if he knows why, Noah correctly responds, Because you re a policeman and I m a
black person? (229). Since Americans have only seen Noah as a successful comedian, the book allows
them to understand the hardships, struggles, and efforts that shaped him. In order to successfully
connect with such a distant audience, Noah takes advantage of both the reader s logic and emotions.
First, Noah uses rationale to explain the existence of social problems among people of color. He coins
the term the black tax to point out that so many black families spend all of their time trying to fix the
problems of the past (66). Backed with historical facts about apartheid, Noah s explanation of the
social injustices helps the audience understand the concept of privilege. Moreover, Noah appeals to
the reader s emotions by providing vivid narrations of such injustices. While Noah s mother took him
to ice rinks and drive ins and suburbs people within their community thought she was crazy because
those were the things of white people (

Gloucester and Lear s Realizations of the Importances in Life
Gloucester and Lear s Realizations of the Importance s in Life In William Shakespeare s King Lear,
Gloucester and Lear both experience similar situations in which their children cause them to suffer
greatly: The former suffers from blindness and the latter slips from reality into a state of madness. It is
not until Act 4, scene 6 that they come to the realization of the importances in life; such as true love
for and from a child. Gloucester is convinced by his illegitimate son Edmund that his legitimate son
Edgar cannot be trusted, resulting in the banishment of Edgar. King Lear believes the false
protestations of love his two elder daughters, Goneril and Regan sell to him; meanwhile, his youngest
daughter Cordelia is the only daughter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene shows Gloucester that his fate is in the hands of the Gods and they will take his life only
when it is his time to die and that he must continue his life journey to find out more about himself.
During this discovery, Gloucester s loyal son is with him, in disguise. Edgar acts as his guide but he
does not reveal himself to his father in this scene because it would interfere with Gloucester s
recovery.
Act 4, scene 6 displays Gloucester s sorrow for misjudging his children and the remorse he feels
towards Edgar. This scene leads into Edgar revealing himself to his father. After Edgar s confession,
Gloucester immediately dies from joy and grief. Even though death is the end result for Gloucester, he
is able to make peace with his son before he dies. It is tragic that Gloucester did not come to the
realization that his son was with him for a long while and that Edgar did not reveal himself sooner, but
it is better late than never to be reunited with loving children. Now that Gloucester has seen his
forgiving son again, which is very important to Gloucester, the Gods find it an appropriate time to take
his life: Gloucester has accomplished what he needed to. Similar to Gloucester, Act 4, scene 6 leads
into Lear making a significant discovery of his life: he is not perfect. In this scene, Lear experiences
madness but is

72 Hour Hold By Bebe Moore Campbell Essay
Life is a daring adventure. Throughout the lifespan, one will encounter many rewarding and
challenging experiences. For example, during one s youth, balancing academics and maintaining
healthy relationships with both family and friends is perplexing. Nevertheless, imagine adding another
element on top of the boat load of responsibilities and expectations that growing up beckons mental
illness. In 72 Hour Hold by Bebe Moore Campbell, the main character, Trina, truly defines how much
of a rollercoaster life can be. As told through her mother s perspective, one will learn that Trina is a
eighteen year old female of African American decent and resides with her mother in Los Angeles,
California. Trina s parents, Keri and Clyde, provide their daughter with an upper/upper middle class
lifestyle due to her father s sudden successful career and her mother s successful resale clothing
business in Los Angeles. This well rounded and beautiful adolescent has recently graduated from high
school with high grades and was accepted to Brown University, however, due to her summer manic
episodes, Trina has not attended college yet. After her high school graduation, Trina began
experiencing manic episodes. These episodes consisted of Trina lashing out in various ways. Some
moments within the book described Trina as verbally and physically abusive towards her mother,
destructive by smashing glass cups, extreme paranoia, and wild nights out involving joints or alcohol.

Who Is Fanny Mendelssohn
Fanny Mendelssohn was born on November 14, 1805 in Hamburg, Germany to parents Abraham and
Lea Mendelssohn Batholdy. She was the oldest of four siblings. Her brother Felix Mendelssohn also
went on to become a famous composer. Fanny learned the piano from her mother and at the age of
thirteen she could play many of the compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach by heart. Her and her
brother Felix were considered music prodigies. Though her parents were very supportive of Felix
having a career in music they didn t have the same attitude toward Fanny. Her father believed she
should just be a housewife.

They are part of a famous series of piano pieces she wrote based off the months of the year. She wrote
them as a musical diary of the year she spent with her family in Rome. The music started out slow and
deep then slowly bits of lighter, higher notes fell into place. It stayed slow for a while. The notes softly
flowing around on another. Gently gathering speed.
Then it picked up to a faster speed. After a short while it reached an almost astonishing speed. The
melody dancing like butterflies whirling around each in a garden. The feeling of adventure seemed
woven into the music itself. Some parts you could tell how the months were being portrayed. You
almost expect to look out the window and see it being that time of year. A frosty wonderland. Chapter
3: The Instruments
The piano is the only instrument used in these pieces of music. This perfectly captured the month of
the year theme that Fanny Mendelssohn was trying to express. She was also able to express the thrill
of adventure in a new place with the quick pace of the notes. The rhythm was very complex. The high
notes and deep notes twirling around each other perfectly. Accelerating speed throughout with the
intervals of slower melody could give you shivers of pleasure. These songs show how the almost
common piano can help take you into another

Feminism in Late 19th Century American Short Stories
Research Question: How is feminism revealed through the divergence of women s roles in society and
their own personal desires in the American short stories The Yellow Wall Paper, The Story of an Hour,
The Storm, and Life in the Iron Mills ?
Introduction
Literature changes as current events change and as the structure of society begins to shift. American
feminist literature started to become prevalent during the Victorian era, or around the latter part of the
19th century. This is the time when the first wave of feminism in the United States hit. The Seneca
Falls Convention the first women s rights convention and the emergence of Elizabeth Cady Stanton
and Susan B. Anthony s American Equal Rights Association in the middle of the 19th century are
among some of the noteable events that sparked this movement in literature. Women across America
were inspired by the changing of the times, and that is reflected in many American female authors
writings.
Some of these authors include Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Kate Chopin, and Rebecca Harding Davis,
whose short stories speak volumes about the thoughts and emotions of women during this time period.
Life in the Iron Mills was written in 1861, The Yellow Wall Paper in 1892, The Story of an Hour in
1894, and finally The Storm in 1898. Every story was written during the Victorian era; every author

Underage Drinking Is Part Of The Culture Of College
By the time high school students are seniors around 70 percent of students have had alcohol and the
number will increase more as they begin college (IUPUI). With being in college one thing that I did
discover is that underage drinking is part of the culture in college, also the friends that I had in high
school who are 21 now I have discovered they drink some of the least amount now. Which has begun
to make me wonder why people who are 21 drink less than people who are underage. I believe that
when people are 21 they now do not have to worry about the next time they can get alcohol. Congress
should lower the drinking age from 21 to 18 because at age 18 when they are in college, for some
students it will be the first time of it being acceptable to drink alcohol. Most college students are
putting their health at risk with binge drinking. They are not introduced to alcohol at a younger age
and drink because they do not know the next time they will get alcohol, so they will start to binge
drink drinking a high content of alcohol quickly and dangerously. Although it may introduce alcohol
to people of younger ages, it will help them mature more quickly knowing they do not have to worry
about the next time they will get alcohol. With lowering the drinking age, it will have positive effects
on the economy and society, it will be beneficial because it will prevent younger people from binge
drinking, and people are legally adults at the age of 18 can vote and serve for their

Honey Bear Research Paper
Honeybees are very important to our food supply because they pollinate our plants and help them
grow. Other than the sun and water bees bring to crop or plants a lot of the nutrition that the plant is
going to need and so the plant is able to produce more. Without bees helping our food grow we would
be very short on food supply. Some things that could be harming the bees are bears because bees like
to live where they can be left alone and where they think that they are safe but in the woods there are
bears bad bears really like honey and they normally destroy the hive and leave the bees homeless.

California has had a long and controversial history in education. Some would argue that the State s

Wonder Woman Hero
Spider Man and Wonder Woman are not similar to the stereotypical heroes at the time, but they still
had the attributes of a true hero. In the past, Stan Lee had thought of a superhero that would be similar
to teenagers. Stan Lee wanted to construct a hero that people could relate to, and in the end he created
Spider Man. Spider Man simply had the same abilities as a spider. Then in 1941, Wonder Woman
made her first appearance from the mind of William Moulton Marston. William supported women s
rights since his college days, and he wanted to have equality for each gender in all human activities. In
addition, people believed that comics were bad for kids, but William believed not. Wonder Woman s
set of skills is that she could fly, had immense speed, strength, and smarts. Additionally, Wonder
Woman also wielded a lasso that could make anyone tell the truth if caught by it, and this lasso is
inspired from William s polygraph, which was able to detect lies. Three ways that Wonder Woman and

A Rhetorical Analysis Of All Apologies From Eula Biss
In the essay All Apologies from Eula Biss, she talks about how our apologies are being said without
sincerity and sometime how one generation will apologies in the place of another. As a result, after
apologizing we have the tendency to think that at the end it was are fault. In her essay she uses her
personal experiences to correlate to her main purpose apologizing for slavery. One example that she
uses was the time when she hit her sister in the stomach then quickly apologies for her action. As the
occurrence of each insult, each scratch and each slap, her sister reminded her that sorry doesn t cut it.
Another examples that Biss uses were Reagan s signing legislation apologizing for the Internment of
Japanese Americans during World War II. It goes taking about how Reagan resisted the apology
because he felt that during that struggle it was not our judgement to apologize but to see it as a
mistake and to let it go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Three Reasons For The Allies s Success In The Invasion
D Day was a major event in history and there are lots of reasons why the Allies had success in the
invasion. In this essay I will focus on three reasons I believe to be the most significant to victory.
Those reasons are Air Supremacy, Unique and adapted tanks and Operation Fortitude South. D Day
tanks were specialised to fit the environment of Normandy while still being effective in combat. Air
Supremacy was crucial to distract the Germans with the gliders, paratroopers, bombers, and fake
dummies. Operation Fortitude South was a massive and successful deception plan to confuse the
German into thinking the invasion would come at the narrowest part of the channel.
Air Supremacy was crucial for supporting the invasion and confusing the germans. It was something
the Allies needed to have a successful invasion. Before dawn on the 6th of June 1944, paratroopers

and fortified the area around Calais. Within Fortitude there were makeshift planes, inflatable tanks and
artillery as well as fake equipment. The Germans took the bait mostly because Fortitude was located
around the narrowest part of the channel where it would be the easiest place of all to invade from. The
Nazis actually thought at first that the preparation for the actual invasion was rouse. This plan played
an important role in the invasion because it allowed the Allied Powers to catch the Germans by

all have never really been to. So once I had brought the idea up to my buddies we ended up coming up
with the great idea to go on a fishing trip near Minneapolis Minnesota. So we came to the conclusion
that we would take a five day trip and that we would go old school and just camp for a week. Which
little did we know that we were totally unprepared for what would actually occur on this trip. First off
we needed to ensure that we would all be able to give proper notice to our families and our employers
about the trip. So we waited nearly three weeks for everyone to finally hash all of that out. Then once
that was done we then gathered up everyone s money and made the reservations for this remote
campsite that would comfortably fit all of us with all of our tents. This site had to fit at the very least
seven people, which included: Brandon, Seth, Ryan, Sarah, Brittany, Hunter and then myself. We also
made sure that the campsite had restrooms and showers nearby for convenient use. I also looked at the
weather forecast for the area to make sure that the weather would cooperate with our plans for that
week. Finally after waiting for what seemed like forever for the departure date to arrive, it finally had
arrived. We were all packed up and ready to go. We were taking my mom s Nissan Armada and Seth s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Artificial Sweeteners
Stabilisers: this is added to food such as instant cakes and pudding, to improve their texture. They can
absorb water, swell, form a gel and thicken. They contribute to the smoothness of the product.
Stabilisers contribute to obesity, and diabetes. Chemical additives: Artificial sweeteners: This often
found in food which say diet or sugar free such as diet coke and it is also common in desserts. It is
used to sweeten your food. This can be harmful to your body because this sweetener is also known as
Aspartame, which is known to contribute to tumours, short term memory, diabetes and emotional
disorders like depression when large amounts are eaten. High Fructose corn syrup: is are highly

Narrative Essay On Health Center
Upon exiting my vehicle in front of the clinic, I noticed the usual group of protestors gathered at the
front entrance. Today was different, there were three men creating a cacophonous noise with trumpets
outside of the health center. Curious as to why they were doing this, I asked the health center staff
inside what was going on. Apparently, they were blowing these trumpets in the biblical tradition as a
warning or announcement from God. In Exodus, trumpets or shofars were used to get the attention of
the Israelites, and then in Jericho to bring the walls crashing down. This display was intended to bring
the sinful health center to a close. I had seen many different groups protesting in front of our clinic in
the past, some carrying graphic signs, others praying silently, some setting up a make shift altar out
front and praying for the occupants inside. The horns, however, stood out to me. On that particular
day, I was organizing a press conference to put pressure on Governor McCrory to expand Medicaid in

I attended catechism every week up until my confirmation and am well versed with the opposition s
stance. Normally, the protestors outside would not have given me pause, but today they were entering
into new territory. They were particularly raucous. Yelling at patients not to kill their unborn children,
telling people they were going to hell, and all the while the horn sounded in the background. Many of
the women entering the health center looked frightened. They hurried inside wide eyed, glancing over
their shoulders at the tumultuous crowd. I understand and recognize the right to protest peacefully as
an essential part of protecting free speech in this country, but on this day the protesters were blatantly

The Effect Of Creativity On The Classroom
The following section of this paper will be a critical discussion about the materials Elliott discussed in
the chapter. Overall I really enjoyed Elliott s arguments about creativity, I found it very easy to read
and helped open my eyes on the use of creativity in the classroom. The creative philosophy that Elliott
outlines in this chapter was incredibly helpful. I have always thought of the creative aspect in a
classroom as being a compositional project, or improvisation and Elliott s disapproval of that thought
process has cleared some questions I had. There are so many possibilities to involve creativity in the
classroom now, such as with performance, composition, improvisation, listening assignments and
more. I am very excited to get out there and try some new lessons out for myself. Furthermore, the
curriculum tends to feel too broad yet too limited at the exact same time when it comes to creativity.
There are four components in the curriculum and they often seem very segregated. Even in some of
our classes it has always been, write a lesson plan for one of the wings . I really like this idea of Elliott
s to always involve creativity because then it combines the wings. Creativity can take place alongside
performance, historical context or critical evaluation. It is our job as teachers to stop segregating these
wings so that everything is not so blocked off. Taking a step back, what would have been great in this
chapter is if Elliott went into further detail of how to

Social Programs And Its Effects On America
However, in slums and other poor communities around the world, this luxury is not present. Poorer
communities cannot guarantee the same rate of success for its programs because it is not as clear
whether the social programs invested in will succeed. In addition, there is not a large pool of investors
that are willing to invest in SIB s in poor slums. First, investors would be turned off to the idea of
investing in the slums because the social programs are not as likely to work so there is less possibility
of making a profit. Considering there exists a risk rate. Even if the social programs did succeed,

In order for the SIB model to work in corrupt, developing countries, a system of checks and balances
would need to be implemented in order to ensure that each partner was acting legally and in the best
interest of society. Social impact bonds have a very clear intention to improve the community in a fair
and legitimate way; however, many people criticize this investing model because of the return rate of
profits on the initial investment and the guarantee of the investors money back for certain parties. The
social impact bond investing model was originally created to focus on impacting social change rather
than making a profit. Because of this, even when social programs were successful, rates of return were
expected to be minimal at best simply to reward the investors for taking time, effort, and money to
help improve at risk communities. However, people became outraged when they discovered that
Goldman Sachs was making a significant return on investment. One of the most highly publicized SIB

decided to invest 9.6 million dollars into. While this seems generous, Goldman Sachs was

The Synthesis Of Nannomaterials
Chemical synthesis of nanomaterials for drug delivery most commonly involves the synthesis of
nanometal compounds, polymer nanocomposites and quantum dots. The original synthesis techniques
for these nanomedicine applications involve toxic reagents and waste products. Green chemistry
initiatives are attempting to produce nanometals, composites and quantum dots without the toxicity
and waste associated with early methods.
Nanometals are an area of high interest in for drug delivery due to their magnetic properties.
Nanometals such as iron oxides have the desired traits of nanoparticles such as high surface to volume
ratios while also allowing for manipulation of drug delivery using magnetic fields. Therapeutics are
linked to the outside of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to injectable applications, nanometals are also synthesized for medical stent drug delivery.
This type of drug delivery vehicle involves the permanent fixture of a nanoparticle apparatus that
releases therapeutics in vivo over time. Nanometal stents are fundamentally green as they are
constructed to biodegrade in vivo and excreted through the renal system as they degrade. The original
construction of nanometal stents involved iron; however, iron stents have caused inflammation in
vivo.
Polyphenol coated porous nanomaterials such as silica are some of the most commonly studied
nanomaterials for stents. Self assembling, silica scaffolding with PEG coating is a natural choice for
drug delivery stents because it is biodegradable and allows for controlled release of therapeutics to
targeted sites in vivo via a pH sensitive release. Such scaffolding is meets green chemistry goals of
clean synthesis and avoided waste production; however, patient efficacy must still be improved.
Current in vivo studies demonstrate PEG coatings contributing to pleural effusion, pericardial effusion
and pulmonary fibrosis and granuloma as a result of the high concentration of nanoparticles in the
region of the scaffolding.
Construction of silica scaffolding has led to toxicity in researchers and patients. According to
Jahangirian x ray and electron microscopy have discovered silica

Emily Dickinson s Poem Frequently The Woods Are Pink
The first stanza of Frequently the woods are pink means a lot of times the woods are full of bright and
bold colors, but frequently they re brown. When it says Frequently the hills undress I think it means
the hills become brown during the cold seasons, and the hills are right behind her native town.
Conclusion I think that this peom is using personification to tell the story. Emily Dickinson is saying
that the hills and forests can be dressed in many colors, but when it turns to winter, it undresses . This
poem has to do with cycles of change because it is talking about the seasonal changes in life. Meaning

accepted and recognized by the international community of States as a whole as a norm from which no
derogation is permitted and which can be modified only by a subsequent norm of general international

Mao Zedong Of The Soviet Revolution
More murderous than Hitler, more powerful than Stalin, in the battle of the Communist leaders Mao
Zedong trumps all. Born into a comfortable peasant family, Mao would rise up to become China s
great leader. After leading the communists away from Kuomintang rule, he set out to modernize
China, but the results of this audacious move were horrific. He rebounded from his failures time and
again, and used his influence to eliminate his enemies and to purge China of its old ways. Mao saw a
brighter future for China, but it was not within his grasp; his Cultural Revolution was not as successful
as he had wanted it to be. Liberator, oppressor, revolutionary, Mao Zedong was the greatest
emancipator in China s history, as his reforms and actions changed not only the history of China, but
of the wider world. Mao Zedong was born in 1893, into a China that was suffering greatly. The Qing
Dynasty was spiraling into disaster, but while most of China s peasants were suffering Mao s own
peasant family was doing quite well. Growing increasingly restless, Mao left home at age 17 to study
and in 1918 he graduated to become a teacher. He travelled to Beijing, but found there to be little work
for teachers, so instead he began working at a university library and reading Marxist literature. It was
the time of the Russian Revolution and Mao was eager and interested in politics. In 1921 he became a

comparative proteomics Essay
Comparative Proteomics: Protein Profiler Lab by Jonathan Thulson
Biology 113
October 6, 2013
Lab Partner:
Vernon Morris
INTRODUCTION Proteomics is the study of proteins. Their functions, interactions with other
proteins, cellular locations and levels at which they are expressed. The purpose of this lab was to
compare the proteins present in different species of fish to be able to determine which species of fish
have the closest relation. This can be determined based on which two fish species have the most
proteins in common with one another. The Central Dogma of biology is a process in which a gene
made of DNA is transcribed by a messenger RNA and then translated into a protein. Based on the

The proteins are also added to a Laemmli sample buffer in order to give each protein a negative charge
so it is able to get pulled through the polyacrylamide gel. The next step is to put the gel into the
electrophoresis module and to run it. It is run until the proteins have almost reached the bottom of the
gel. A blue tracking dye is added to the Laemmli sample buffer in order to track the distance in which
the proteins travel through the gel. If it is run for too long, the proteins will run off the bottom of the
gel and it will mess up your results. Once the protein reach the bottom of the gel, the gel is stained in
order to be able to see the individual bands of the different proteins. When the gel is stained, the
protein distances will be able to be measured and compared. For a detailed procedure, refer to the
Comparative Proteomics Kit I: Protein Profiler Module Lab Manual.
RESULTS
I did not get conclusive data from the gel I made. As you can see in figure 1, the bands that showed up
on the gel were too cluttered to be able to measure them. So I could not compare protein bands
between the fish species based on our gel. Instead, I used a default gel picture that another group did
in the class to get my data. From their gel I was able to compare the different species. Table 1 shows
the number of bands that were similar between the different fish species when they were compared. I
was able to determine that fish species C (Tuna)

A Child Is Mysterious and Powerful
Within the child lies the fate of the future. Whoever wishes to confer some benefit on society must
preserve him from deviation and observe his natural ways acting. A child is mysterious and powerful
and contains within himself the secret of human nature.
Explain the above quote with reference to the Montessori philosophy.
The term Montessori Philosophy originated from the name of Dr. Maria Montessori, one of the most
influential pioneers in early childhood education. She advised an education which combines a
philosophy with a practical approach based on the central idea of freedom for the child within a
carefully planned and structured environment. To analyze the above quote, we will have to know what

Thus it is said that The child is endowed with unknown powers which can guide us to a radiant future.
(The Absorbent Mind ,P2)
During the observation of children at Casa Dei Bambini, Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that
children prefer work to play. They were able to achieve a self integration through this work. She found
that the aggressive and destructive children became calm and peaceful after working with the
materials. She concluded that through work the child seemed to get fulfillment of some internal need
which made him normalized.
Montessori found out that independence is necessary to the child s normal development. The child
uses his independence to listen to his inner guide for actions that can be useful to him and one who is
served is actually limited in his independence. It is well said that we habitually serve children; and this
is not only an act of servility towards them but it is dangerous, since it tends to suffocate their useful,
spontaneous activity. (Course manual P.40).
We can help the child attain independence by giving opportunity for him to work with the materials by
himself, by directing him towards a given end to develop his will, by giving him constructive work to
help him in developing discipline, by letting him know and have an understanding of what is good and
bad and also giving him freedom to reveal himself completely by playing only passive role.
Maria Montessori stated that at certain stages

Instructor: Dr. Russell
Date Submitted: December 8, 2014 Introduction Aspirin is a substance known as acetylsalicylic acid.
It is used mainly as an over the counter drug used to relieve inflammation, pain, and fever. Its natural
form is salicylic acid. This synthesis process requires the acetylation of salicylic acid with acetic
anhydride. The purpose of this lab is to synthesize and purify aspirin. We also characterized the aspirin
via melting point, iron (III) chloride test, pH test, and thin layer chromatography. The synthesized
aspirin successfully produced a 65.38% yield.

Death Blow To Jim Crow Summary
Death Blow to Jim Crow: The National Negro Congress and the Rise of Militant Civil Rights. By Eric
S. Gellman. (Chapel Hill, North Carolina: University of North Carolina Press, 2012. Pp. xiii, 354.
$39.95.)
In Death Blow to Jim Crow author Eric Gellman talks about the establishment of the National Negro
Congress and the role it played in the 30 s and 40 s. In the book Gilman started off describing how
many of the employees at the Wilson and Bennet metal barrel factory stopped working and begin to
express their frustrations about such little pay. They were tired of working for just sixteen to twenty
five censt. They couldn t make a living of such little pay and something had to be done. These workers
eventually joined a union called the National Negro Council and went on strike, both blacks and
whites. Black scholars, labor organizers, and artists formed the National Negro Congress in hopes to
demand a second emancipation in the states.
These people eventually won raises and 40 hour work weeks. The most important of those accolades
for people of color was the seniority clause, this entailed that they would be promoted by merit and

consisted of mostly African American women led by a communist. The SNYC along with workers
openly challenged labor abuse as the main principle to Jim Crow and knowingly attacked Richmond s
racial and gender boundaries. Gilman argues that SNYC linked a domestic civil rights agenda to an
international campaign against dictatorship and oppression. He went on to say that the members of
that union played a major part in the formation of a Democratic Part in South

Another famous group of pirates were the Buccaneers. Buccaneers were initially hunter s of cattle and

found on the islands. They got their name from the French word boucan which meant barbecue. Often
at times, these men were seen barbequing the pig meat on grills. They learned this style of cooking
from the Arawak Indians. The buccaneers were men driven out by the Spanish, runaway slaves,

Qing Dao Short Story
Once upon a time, a kind old fisherman lived with his daughter on an island. One day, the Dragon
King kidnapped the daughter and brought her to his palace. The poor fisherman stood by the ocean
calling out to the sea day by day, for years. It made the Dragon King angry so he cast a spell on him
causing the man to slowly turn into a rock. After the daughter heard what the Dragon King had done,
she escaped the palace and ran towards her father who has now turned into a rock. The ocean breeze
blew the flowers in her hair onto the island, making plants grow. When she is near Lao mountain, the
Dragon King put a spell on her too and turned her into a giant reef. From that day on, the father and
daughter can only look at each other from across the sea, unable to meet. This is the story of Old Man

What was the significance of the Marshall Plan on Post war Europe? *FOURTH DRAFT* September
2, 1945, marked the end of the Second World War, a day in which soldiers could finally leave foreign
shores for home, but they would soon discover that home was not how they left it. For World War II
had taken its toll on Europe. On both sides all that had been built before now lay in ruin and
desolation, with economic disaster and extreme poverty now left to govern its inhabitants. Industrial
production was critically low, a staggering amount of people were left either unemployed or homeless
and most major cities, industrial facilities and transportation systems had been critically destroyed,

It was the most staggering and portentous experiment in the entire history of our foreign policy, the
young Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., who served on its staff, wrote. It saved us from catastrophe, a manager
at Europe s largest tire factory declared. But under the scrutiny of modern historians the importance of
the Marshall plan is claimed to be overstated, was Europe really in such a dire state of affairs that it
required such a boost just to stay afloat? Or was it simply America s chance to exert pressure and
influence on one of its biggest economic partners whilst also keeping the threat of communism at bay?
That is the question I shall be posing during the course of this essay. From 1948 (the year that the plan
was implemented) to 1952 (the year that Europe declared it would no longer require Marshall Aid)
Europe experienced the fastest rate of growth in its history. Industrial and agricultural production
increased by 30% of the pre war levels and the standard of living¬¬ improved dramatically. Western
Europe was set to commence two decades of unprecedented growth. This is exactly what the Marshall

Historical Reality Of The Resurrection Research Paper
The Historical Reality of the Resurrection
There are four main arguments used to deny the historical reality of the Resurrection. In this essay, I
will explain why they are not supported by the facts of the matter
The first main argument is the classic stolen body argument. Obviously this story is fake because there
were usually about 16 roman guards in a patrol, and all of them had different sleep patterns, therefore,
at least one of them must have been awake at all times. Also, the boulder in front of the tomb was
huge, and there s no way the apostles could move it without waking up the roman guards.
The second main argument is that Jesus did not die, but actually faked his death. Clearly this is false
because the Romans and perfected

Positive And Negative Liberty
3. What is the difference between negative and positive liberty? Explain the difference using
examples. What is Isaiah Berlin s criticism of positive liberty? Give one possible response that a
proponent of positive liberty might give to Berlin.
The Two Concepts of Liberty by Isaiah Berlin distinguishes negative liberty from positive liberty.
Negative liberty emphasizes on freedom from outside interference whereas positive liberty
emphasizes on freedom to act upon one s will, to take control of one s life and have the ability to
achieve one s goals. While negative liberty requires absence of external hindrances which act as
impediments to the freedom of individuals, positive liberty requires presence of self control, self
mastery, self determination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could become free simply by contenting oneself with one s situation. Some theorists of positive
freedom bite the bullet and say that the contented slave is indeed free that in order to be free the
individual must learn, not so much to dominate certain merely empirical desires, but to rid herself of
them. She must, in other words, remove as many of her desires as possible. As Berlin puts it, if I have
a wounded leg there are two methods of freeing myself from pain. One is to heal the wound. But if the
cure is too difficult or uncertain, there is another method. I can get rid of the wound by cutting off my
leg . But this state, even if it can be achieved, is not one that liberals would want to call one of
freedom, for it again risks masking important forms of oppression. It is, after all, often in coming to
terms with excessive external limitations in society that individuals retreat into themselves, pretending
to themselves that they do not really desire the worldly goods or pleasures they have been denied.
Moreover, the removal of desires may also be an effect of outside forces, such as brainwashing, which
we should hardly want to call a realization of freedom. Because the concept of negative freedom
concentrates on the external sphere in which individuals interact, it seems to provide a better
guarantee against the dangers of paternalism and authoritarianism perceived by

The Constitutional Principle Of The Rule Of Law
INTRODUCTION Undoubtedly, the constitutional principle of the rule of law is one of the most
essential values in the English legal system. It has aptly been characterized as a wrapper that is placed
around a bundle of more specific principles . Interestingly, prominent personalities like inter alia, Lord
Bingham, Jeffrey Jowell and Dicey, have identified that legality, certainty, accountability, efficiency,
due process and access to justice are only a number of those specific principles which all together
constitute the rule of law. Some of these values reflect the formal conception of the rule of law while
others, the substantive. Furthermore, it would be an omission not to say that, within the absence of a
written constitution, the rule of law places a significant role within the English legal system. The
following essay will assess how the courts use the weapons of justice, to restrain and scrutinize the
abuse of the executive power in the UK. The role of the judicial review process and the principles of:
bare principle of legality and principle of legal certainty will be examined by reference to academic
opinion and case law. The conclusion will be that, although the dogma of the rule of law managed to
hold the executive up to a satisfying level, the principle of parliamentary sovereignty does have the
final say. Rule of Law To begin with, the constitutional principle of the rule of law can be as simple as
a set of theories about what the

Christianity And The New Testament
Christianity is a religion that is based on the life experiences and teachings of Jesus Christ in the New
Testament. Christianity is the largest religion on Earth, with over two billion followers which are
called Christians. Jesus is believed to be the Son of God and the Savior of Humanity who is coming as
Christ in the flesh which is prophesized in the Old Testament.
Christian s profession of faith is that Jesus suffered for everyone, died and was buried in the tomb, and
was resurrected from the dead on the third day. All of this was accomplished by Jesus because it was
the only way to grant eternal life and cleanse the people, who believe and have faith in Him, free from
their sins. Jesus body then ascends into Heaven and lives with God the Father. Jesus will return to
Earth to judge the people and grant everlasting life to those who have faith in Him. This is referred to
as The Gospel , which is the ministry of Jesus Christ, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and the
resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Gospel also refers to some of the books of the Bible in the New
Testament. These are accounts of Jesus life and His teachings. The best known accounts of Jesus
found in the Bible are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Christianity started in the mid 1st century and began as a Second Temple Judaic sect. Christianity
originated in Judea and started to quickly spread to other continents and countries. Europe, Asia
Minor, Egypt, Ethiopia, Syria, Mesopotamia, and India had become

  • 2. Human Impacts on the Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus... Human Impact on the Carbon, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus Cycles Danielle Abbadusky Everest University Human impact on the cycling matter in ecosystems can change a lot of things. Humans can either help or hurt things. The carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycles are the three cycles of matter in ecosystems. What are these cycles? How do humans effect each one of these individual cycles? What are some examples of humans effecting these cycles? What is the carbon cycle? Sequence of processes through which carbon compounds move from one carbon reservoir or sink (such as forests and oceans) to another (such as atmosphere) and back. Since more carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels and less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These compounds are taken up by plants as nutrients from the soil and converted into plant proteins (amino acids). Plant proteins become animal proteins when eaten and metabolized by herbivorous animals, and when carnivorous animals eat the herbivorous. These proteins return to the soil through animal excrement and the decomposition of dead animals and plants, and are converted into carbon dioxide, water, and ammonia (gaseous compound of nitrogen and hydrogen) by a set of bacteria in the soil. A portion of this ammonia is converted into soil nitrogen (fixed nitrogen) by another set of bacteria and the balance is released into the atmosphere as free nitrogen (N2). (nitrogen cycle, n.d.) Human impact on this cycle is very significant. Having these crops benefiting humans we are more than doubling the amount of nitrogen that s moved from the atmosphere to the land. When sulfur is released by burning fossil fuels, which humans do, this is killing and polluting our lakes and ponds and killing our forests. With these and other chemicals being put into our land, these are reaching our oceans and big areas of water and this will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Diary of Anne Frank Essay The Diary of Anne Frank In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine. Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will begin to compare the various aspects of her life to mine. Finally, I will draw up a conclusion. Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the first three years of her life, The Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex. Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland. There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can only imagine what it would have been like for Anne. It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school. This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion. Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me, I don t know what I would do to keep entertained. All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go into hiding. It finally happened in 1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July 6th, 1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr Dussel the dentist. For two years they lived

  • 6. Analysis Of The Article Why Hominids And Space Go... Manned spaceflight is a crucial argument in society. Two writers, Seth Shostak and John Logsdon, both believe that America is making a mistake by ending manned space exploration. Seth Shostak is the author of the article Why Hominids and Space Go Together in The New York Times Room for Debate; his article is about how President Obama s new vision for the NASA program is not a good plan. John Logsdon also wrote an article for The New York Times Room for Debate called American Patrimony. His article is more focused on how it will be a loss of patriotism to end manned spaceflight in the United States. Both Shostak and Logsdon agree that manned space travel should continue, but Shostak s rhetoric is more effective because his argument is well organized and credible, he ties in his readers emotions efficiently, and he logically explains his beliefs. In Shostak s article he portrays himself as a credible source, which makes his ethos appeal successful. Shostak makes many attempts to make his article trustworthy, some of which actually diminish his ethos. One way the writer seeks to obtain credibility is through the structure of the article. He arranged his piece in a very organized way that states the points thoroughly and with confidence, which portrays him as a knowledgeable source. Another way he gains credibility is through the language and dialect he incorporates. He includes words such as autonomous rovers and anachronism which indicates his piece is aimed at an ... Introduction Violent video games are becoming more popular among children and adolescents of all ages since its debut approximately 30 years ago. This growing popularity is generating an increasing concern that these sometimes very graphic videos and life like characters can have a negative influence on the younger generation. Although never proven, there has been speculation that some of the high school shootings across the country were committed by students who were habitual players of violent video games. • 8. Themes Of Poem In Born A Crime By Trevor Noah In Born A Crime, Trevor Noah [uses] a narrative writing style and a lighthearted tone when [retelling] the tangled racism integrated in his childhood experience. The book progresses in a mostly linear fashion, beginning with a childhood anecdote and his unlawful birth, and ending with the horrifying attempted murder of his mother. In the second chapter, Noah explains that as a half white, half black child who violated any number of laws, statutes, and regulations I was born a crime. Not only does the statement exploit the personal hatred inflicted upon Noah for simply existing, but also exposes the effect of racism on innocence. As the book progresses, Noah shares specific anecdotes and experiences to project to the reader the impact of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because life in South Africa differs so drastically from life in America, understanding the other side s perspective becomes challenging. In the interest of making the South African concepts understandable, Noah makes connections to Western World ideas such as Planet of the Apes and Hollywood and includes how people would say [it] in America for clarity (120 121). Consequently, the book forms a bridge between South African and American culture to demonstrate that many of the world s problems are one in the same. For example, at one point in the book, Noah gets pulled over, and when asked if he knows why, Noah correctly responds, Because you re a policeman and I m a black person? (229). Since Americans have only seen Noah as a successful comedian, the book allows them to understand the hardships, struggles, and efforts that shaped him. In order to successfully connect with such a distant audience, Noah takes advantage of both the reader s logic and emotions. First, Noah uses rationale to explain the existence of social problems among people of color. He coins the term the black tax to point out that so many black families spend all of their time trying to fix the problems of the past (66). Backed with historical facts about apartheid, Noah s explanation of the social injustices helps the audience understand the concept of privilege. Moreover, Noah appeals to the reader s emotions by providing vivid narrations of such injustices. Feminism During 19th Century American Short Stories Kaylee Gould Ms. Henderson 3rd period Feminism in Late 19th Century American Short Stories Research Question: How is feminism revealed through the divergence of women s roles in society and their own personal desires in the American short stories The Yellow Wall Paper, The Story of an Hour, The Storm, and Life in the Iron Mills ? Introduction Literature changes as current events change and as the structure of society begins to shift. American feminist literature started to become prevalent during the Victorian era, or around the latter part of the 19th century. This is the time when the first wave of feminism in the United States hit. The Seneca Falls Convention the first women s rights convention and the emergence of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Women across America were inspired by the changing of the times, and that is reflected in many American female authors writings. Some of these authors include Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Kate Chopin, and Rebecca Harding Davis, whose short stories speak volumes about the thoughts and emotions of women during this time period. • 13. Underage Drinking Is Part Of The Culture Of College By the time high school students are seniors around 70 percent of students have had alcohol and the number will increase more as they begin college (IUPUI). With being in college one thing that I did discover is that underage drinking is part of the culture in college, also the friends that I had in high school who are 21 now I have discovered they drink some of the least amount now. Which has begun to make me wonder why people who are 21 drink less than people who are underage. I believe that when people are 21 they now do not have to worry about the next time they can get alcohol. Congress should lower the drinking age from 21 to 18 because at age 18 when they are in college, for some students it will be the first time of it being acceptable to drink alcohol. Most college students are putting their health at risk with binge drinking. They are not introduced to alcohol at a younger age and drink because they do not know the next time they will get alcohol, so they will start to binge drink drinking a high content of alcohol quickly and dangerously. Although it may introduce alcohol to people of younger ages, it will help them mature more quickly knowing they do not have to worry about the next time they will get alcohol. With lowering the drinking age, it will have positive effects on the economy and society, it will be beneficial because it will prevent younger people from binge drinking, and people are legally adults at the age of 18 can vote and serve for their ... So we came to the conclusion that we would take a five day trip and that we would go old school and just camp for a week. • 25. Narrative Essay On Health Center Upon exiting my vehicle in front of the clinic, I noticed the usual group of protestors gathered at the front entrance. Today was different, there were three men creating a cacophonous noise with trumpets outside of the health center. Curious as to why they were doing this, I asked the health center staff inside what was going on. Apparently, they were blowing these trumpets in the biblical tradition as a warning or announcement from God. In Exodus, trumpets or shofars were used to get the attention of the Israelites, and then in Jericho to bring the walls crashing down. This display was intended to bring the sinful health center to a close. I had seen many different groups protesting in front of our clinic in the past, some carrying graphic signs, others praying silently, some setting up a make shift altar out front and praying for the occupants inside. • 26. The Effect Of Creativity On The Classroom The following section of this paper will be a critical discussion about the materials Elliott discussed in the chapter. Overall I really enjoyed Elliott s arguments about creativity, I found it very easy to read and helped open my eyes on the use of creativity in the classroom. The creative philosophy that Elliott outlines in this chapter was incredibly helpful. I have always thought of the creative aspect in a classroom as being a compositional project, or improvisation and Elliott s disapproval of that thought process has cleared some questions I had. There are so many possibilities to involve creativity in the classroom now, such as with performance, composition, improvisation, listening assignments and more. I am very excited to get out there and try some new lessons out for myself. Furthermore, the curriculum tends to feel too broad yet too limited at the exact same time when it comes to creativity. There are four components in the curriculum and they often seem very segregated. Even in some of our classes it has always been, write a lesson plan for one of the wings . I really like this idea of Elliott s to always involve creativity because then it combines the wings. Creativity can take place alongside performance, historical context or critical evaluation. It is our job as teachers to stop segregating these wings so that everything is not so blocked off. Taking a step back, what would have been great in this chapter is if Elliott went into further detail of how to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, investors would be turned off to the idea of investing in the slums because the social programs are not as likely to work so there is less possibility of making a profit. The social impact bond investing model was originally created to focus on impacting social change rather than making a profit. Because of this, even when social programs were successful, rates of return were expected to be minimal at best simply to reward the investors for taking time, effort, and money to help improve at risk communities. However, people became outraged when they discovered that Goldman Sachs was making a significant return on investment. The purpose of this lab was to compare the proteins present in different species of fish to be able to determine which species of fish have the closest relation. The next step is to put the gel into the electrophoresis module and to run it. It is run until the proteins have almost reached the bottom of the gel. A blue tracking dye is added to the Laemmli sample buffer in order to track the distance in which the proteins travel through the gel. If it is run for too long, the proteins will run off the bottom of the gel and it will mess up your results. Once the protein reach the bottom of the gel, the gel is stained in order to be able to see the individual bands of the different proteins. When the gel is stained, the protein distances will be able to be measured and compared. For a detailed procedure, refer to the Comparative Proteomics Kit I: Protein Profiler Module Lab Manual. RESULTS I did not get conclusive data from the gel I made. As you can see in figure 1, the bands that showed up on the gel were too cluttered to be able to measure them. They were able to achieve a self integration through this work. She found that the aggressive and destructive children became calm and peaceful after working with the materials. She concluded that through work the child seemed to get fulfillment of some internal need which made him normalized.
