The Genetic Disorder Or Autoimmune Disease
A.Who first discovered the genetic disorder or autoimmune disease? Kraepelin recognized biological
causes of mental illnesses. He is believed to be the first person to seriously study mental illnesses.
Kraepelin s Manic Depressive Insanity and Paranoia in 1921 detailed the difference between manic
depressive and praecox, which is now known as schizophrenia.
B. Is the disease state recessive or dominant? One study has also found a higher frequency in families
where the disorder is inherited from mothers. A particular case inquiry may be considered, assuming
that bipolar affective disorder can be inherited as a sex linked recessive trait or as an autosomal
recessive trait.
C. Differentiate between recessive or dominant? The difference between the two is that it depends on
the parents in which one or the both have the gene that is dominant but in which chase if it is recessive
it would not get passed down.
D. Is it a chromosomal abnormality? Although there is compelling evidence from twin, family, and
adoption studies to support strong genetic determinants for bipolar affective disorder, the underlying
molecular genetic basis for this condition remains poorly understood. The identification of the genes
responsible for major psychiatric illnesses such as bipolar disorder would greatly enhance our
understanding of etiology, as well as open new avenues for the development of more specific and
effective treatments.
E. Is it autosomal or sex linked? A particular case inquiry may be

Mental Health Care Tv Language Analysis
The Independent and The Telegraph both have produced two articles that strongly connect to each
other. Will Gore and The Telegraph View both express their opinions as well as the experience that
Prince Harry had with mental health through their writing. Article one by The Telegraph View talks
about the amount of people who have to suffer in silence with their mental health issues and
circumstances just like Prince harry did when his mother tragically passed away. It shows us and
makes us aware about how much service and help it required to help people as it takes time to fully
help someone with this serious health matter. Article two by Will Gore is about how someone who is
well known in the public eye has experience the relatable issue of ... Show more content on

First piece of word choice used by The Telegraph View I have chosen to write about is stigma which
has connatations of branded, label, shame and disgrace. This shows us that people dont know the true
meaning of mental health and think firstly of the sterotypes that come with it like its just all based
around the same thing which has made is gain a very negative label or brand which is not the case and
also it gives an impression that people dont really think about mental health that much and dont take it
as serious as it should be taken. rife has connotations of common, global and normal. This shows us
that having anxiety is normal and common to many people around the world and is not unusual as
many people will have or will suffer from this during their lifetime. Finally my last example of word
choice is disorientates which has connotations of lost and confused. This shows us that the writer is
describing technology in the present day as they think it is becoming more useless as it can be
confusing for people and harder to learn about and use especially in everyday life and work
enviroments. The word choice I have metioned show us the impact of mental health not just to
patients but others and what they think about it and also that technology is becoming much hard and

Advantages Of Prep School
A prep school is a place for students to learn, grow, and practice skills that will help them be
successful later in life. They offer different possibilities for students, that other schools often cannot or
do not have available. While public schools are where the majority of students go, due to a variety of
factors, prep schools are frequently more beneficial than public schools. Prep schools have better
facilities and higher success rates, and are therefore superior to public schools, despite what Holden
experiences. A prep school is a school that offers a higher set of learning to its students, through
various advantages. They only accept the best of the best students, which is one of the reasons that so
many of their students go on to attend prestigious colleges as well (College Admission from Prep
Schools | Ivy Coach Admissions Blog). These schools are known for offering diverse academic
programming led by teacher scholars, many of whom hold advanced degrees in their subject areas
(The 50 Best Boarding Schools in the U.S). Holden Caulfield in the novel Catcher in the Rye by J.D.
Salinger attended prep school, and although he disliked it immensely, he still formed a close
relationship with one teacher in particular. That teacher, Mr. Antolini offers Holden a place to stay
when he needs it, which shows the kind of bond formed between teacher and student at a prep school,
compared to a public school. Shamus Raham Khan says small classes and individualized attention

Types of network LAN stands for Local Area Network. LAN is a type of network that interconnects
computers and devices either wired or wireless and covers a greater distance. LAN is mainly used in
private organisations such as college or university. More or less everyone uses wireless router at home

computers are connected with the network. NOS is not needed for peer to peer network. Back up of
files and folders cannot be made centrally The user can share the files with other peers and can set
permissions for the files. Files and folders are unorganised as it does not have a particular share drive

The Government s Combat On Copyrights Infringement
Abstract As China rose to become one of the world s largest trading partners following its accession to
the WTO, the country also began to face intense pressure from the international community to abide
by standards on intellectual property rights. Specifically, China has strengthened its legal framework
and amended its IPR laws and regulations to comply with the WTO Agreement on Trade Related
Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). Copyright protection is one area that China has made great
progress in especially in the entertainment industry. With China s economy booming, China is
consuming an increasing amount of TV shows. However, China s TV industry suffers from a critical
dilemma the lack of innovations. This research paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The firm estimated that China s online video revenue increased 41.9 percent in 2013, reaching about
$2 billion. In contrast, China s traditional TV industry has suffered a sharp decline. In 2012 only 30%
of households in Beijing watched TV, down from 70% three years earlier (The Economist, 2013).
However, the gains from the expanding industry come with high costs. Avoiding licensing costs from
foreign production companies, many Chinese Internet video companies had become a haven for illicit
American shows and hit South Korean soap operas. The illegal distribution of foreign content on these
websites was an undoing to China s endeavor to ascent to a strong intellectual property country.
Amidst criticisms from the right holders in the international community, China has tightened its
regulations against copyright infringement on online video streaming websites. Another rationale
behind the government s commitment to fighting copyright piracy is to protect domestic TV stations
against the rampant popularity of foreign TV shows online. The Chinese government hopes that
through an enforcement of IPR, China s TV industry will see a reduce in the invasion of foreign TV
shows due to high licensing costs and thus an increase in the production of domestic popular ones.
Through a careful analysis of the legal framework and measures the Chinese government

The Righteousness Of Any Church
The righteousness of any church, especially one separate of a denomination, is not how it is structured
nor what title it is named, but rather how faithfully it abides by to the instructions of Holy Scripture.
There doesn t exist a church that is infallible, because churches are made of mere humans who are
adept in error. Even the Apostles, with all the favors of Spiritual Gifts that God bestowed upon them,
were not devoid of mistakes.
When it comes to anything that has to do with a corporate relationship with God and their collective
love, worship, and praise for Him, we always take our direction from the Word which has all authority
in our lives and the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit.
When speaking of corporate worship, we must begin with a criterion imparted by both Old and New
Testaments: Father God only receives veneration presented within a Covenant context. One genuine
description of worship that seeks to be scriptural, needs to initially recognize that worship is
distinctive in that it is a glorification of both individual and corporate covenant bond with the Lord
God Almighty. The expression covenant merely pronounces an unambiguous relationship between two
entities, in this instance El Shaddai and His created beings. The relationship has clearly defined
prerequisites and commitments. Sometimes both entities to the covenant must keep all the
commitments for the covenant to remain in force (a conditional covenant) while at other times God
promises to

Hiv And The Immune System
What is HIV HIV , stands for human immunodeficiency virus, it is a virus that attacks the immune
system, the immune system protects the body against infection and illness .If the body does not have a
strong immune system, It may not be able fight off disease. The virus and the infection it causes are
termed HIV. White blood cells are the part of the immune system that is important as far as fighting
off infection. When a person catches HIV it infects and destroys certain white blood cells called CD4+
cells. If a lot of CD4+ cells are destroyed, the body can no longer fight off infection. When HIV
progresses to its last stage it is called AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). People with
AIDS have a very low number of CD4+ cells and get infections or cancers that do not commonly
occur in non infected people. These infections and cancers can be deadly because the immune system
is compromised. A common misconception that people have is that AIDS and HIV is the same thing.
Having HIV doesn t mean you have AIDS. Even if a patient is never treated for HIV, it still takes a
long time for HIV to turn into AIDS sometimes it can take up to 10 to 12 years for HIV to turn into
AIDS. When a patient is diagnosed with HIV there are medicines to slow the HIV virus to turning into
AIDS, medicines can slow or stop the disease from damaging the immune system. If AIDS does
develop there is still hope, medicines can help the immune system become healthy again. With

Krakow Research Paper
Only a few miles from Poland s second largest cities, Krakow, lies a nearly barren field with only a
moderate sized memorial to the thousands of people killed in a brutal act of genocide. Here, between
1941 and 1945, thousands of enemies of the Nazi party, primarily Jews, were worked, starved, died of
disease, or were shot. Out of the over 150,000 people sent through Plaszow and its sub camps, only
around 2,000 survived. From its establishment in 1941 to its liquidation in January 1945, thousands of
people lost their lives or were sent to their deaths in other camps. In the years before the German
occupation, the Jewish population of Krakow was usually around 70,000. After the Nazi conquest, the
Jews were persecuted relentlessly. Between May and December of 1941, 55,000 Krakow Jews were
forced into the countryside, and between 15,000 and 20,000 remaining Jews were housed in the newly
established Krakow Ghetto. In June of the same year, the Krakow Plaszow Forced Labor camp was
established in Plaszow, a suburb of Krakow. Subsequently, deportation began, with the ... Show more

survival rate was incredibly low. This was partially due to the basic state of the camp, with a very low
amount of food given to the prisoners and diseases such as typhus commonly spreading, and partially
due to the sheer brutality of guards and SS personnel, led by Commandant Amon

ENIAC was built to serve as a calculating device. The creation of the ENIAC prompted another

Zuckerberg and his chief financial officer Eduardo Saverin expanded Facebook to other colleges:
Stanford, Yale, and Princeton, and Columbia. The intended audience of Facebook were Harvard
students those who had a prestigious Harvard email account. The prestige of Facebook s Harvard
origins has been a significant cause of its rise in popularity and the decline of MySpace.
Social networking was not an aspect of life that appeared interesting to the average person before the
early 2000s. This was because everyday people were still adapting to their first computer. Before the
early 2000s, there was not a social networking website that had popularity to the extent of having a
large amount of users. Though the idea for a social networking platform was in existence, those who
helped advance technology did not have the tools needed to build a platform that would attract a range
of people. A complication to such an idea was presented in 1999. During the late 90s, there was a
scare known as Y2K which contributed to a panic for computer users. As the year 2000 approached,
computer specialists feared that computer programs storing two digit values would cause issues and

Converting ° Fahrenheit And Fahrenheit
Converting °Fahrenheit to °Celsius and visa versa
The freezing point of water in Fahrenheit is 32 degrees, in Celsius it is 0 degrees.
The boiling point of water in Fahrenheit is 212 degrees, in Celsius it is 100 degrees.
Consequently the difference between freezing and boiling is 180 degrees Fahrenheit (212 32) or 100
degrees Celsius (100 0). This means that 180 degrees change in Fahrenheit is equal to 100 degree
change in Celsius, or more simply 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit equals 1.0 degrees Celsius.
This gives rise to the following equations to convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit:
°C = (°F 32) ÷ 1.8 For example: (68°F 32) ÷ 1.8 = (36) ÷ 1.8 = 20°C
°F = (°C x 1.8) + 32 For example: (20°C x 1.8) + 32 = (36) + 32 = 68°F ... Show more content on

Setting a Table
Setting a table is almost as important as the food you prepared for the meal. A neat, interesting, clean
and attractive table setting makes any meal more enjoyable.
What goes where on the table and which glasses go with what drinks?
Let s look at the following guide on how to set the table:
STEP 1
Select the tablecloth.
You can choose any tablecloth, but make sure that the linen patterns do not clash with the china
(crockery) patterns. If the crockery is patterned, choose a plain tablecloth. For using plain, single
coloured crockery, a patterned tablecloth is fine.
When setting the table for a formal dinner white or ivory tablecloths are more appropriate.
Select the right size of tablecloth.
How to select the correct size and shape of tablecloth:
Tablecloths come in square, round, oblong (rectangle), and oval.
An oblong tablecloth is designed to fit a rectangle table with square corners. An oval tablecloth fits an
egg shaped table.
The icons below show the various shapes as labelled on most packages.
SQUARE ROUND OBLONG OVAL
To determine the proper Tablecloth size:
Determine the width and length dimensions of your table. The desired drop is:
10 12 inches to lap level
15 inches for standard banquet tables 29 30 inches to the floor
Once you have these dimensions, to determine the cloth size, add the drop times 2 to each dimension
of your table.
Example:
If the table size is 30x72

common theme of lost time, and the inability to regain that time. When Doyle Gibson and Gavin
Banek get into a car accident on the FDR and Gavin refuses to give Doyle a ride, the two continue to
cross paths all day. Doyle then misses his court hearing and loses custody of his children and Gavin
loses the power of appointment, a crucial document to his case. Gavin then seeks out Doyle to retrieve
this document, and Doyle tells Gavin the damage his self absorption caused him. When Gavin
apologizes, Doyle then asks if he could give back his time: [w]hat I want is my morning. I need you to
give my time back to me, can you give me that? . Gavin is unable to answer, knowing that him being

Effects Of Erosion Control On The Environment
Erosion control
Before any new construction begins in the United States the state or local municipality typically
requires an environmental impact statement, plan for erosion control, inspections and any other
methods needed to protect the environment from chemicals used, debris, and other waste which might
seep into the groundwater or land and pollute those important natural resources. Our project is
building in Huntsville, Alabama. We plan to follow advice for Low Impact Development, will use for
meeting civil standards for erosion control, such as water purity for example, underground pipes for
sewage. We also plan to attend any soil and water seminars offered before building begins to learn as
much as possible about any new developments in environmental codes.
We will begin to use autocad software to gain a clear picture of the building and the surrounding area
to help see possible sites where erosion might be a problem. The area in which the building will be
located is subject to erosion from wind, rain, and water, which is the primary source of erosion in
Alabama. Therefore, protection from water erosion caused by rains will be one of our primary
concerns. The autocad software will tell us the area we need to protect in it entirely, and we will use a
black silt fence for his purpose. Black silk fence comes in rolls of hundreds of feet, and if that isn t
enough connectors are available to connect additional silt fence.

extends to type choices. Just like color, a particular font can trigger associations, and conjure up
powerful emotions, ideas, and feelings. This is why utilizing the correct typeface is an important facet
of good design. Choosing the correct typeface is more like a science, and when used correctly will
help deliver your message effectively and can help bridge any gaps within the design. In addition,
using the proper typography plays a vital role in the development of your brand, and can help ensure

Abstract Mobile marketing can be made more personalized through Mobile Personalized Marketing
(MPM). Customers now expect content to be more personalized and relevant, and marketing
technology has risen to meet the challenges. Due to the ubiquity, interactivity and localization of
mobile devices, the customer contextual information ((i.e) the environment where a customer is
located) identifies the needs of customer and offer product services by understanding the customer s
preferences. Existing work focused on contexts of mobile users and their activities for better
predicting customer preferences. In existing, only limited numbers of dimensions are considered to
predict the user preferences. It cannot precisely predict about people s daily activities, which could be
extremely difficult due to the inherent randomness of human behavior. The proposed work focuses on
the number of dimension combination to be increased for each event with respect to context and
action rule of a user. User clustering is constructed and similarities between the users are also
evaluated for prediction of mobile behaviors with considerations of user relation. Personalized

Analysis Of Angry Birds Match
What is Angry Birds Match?
Angry Birds Match is Rovio Games sixteenth entry in their ever popular series of action puzzle games
for mobile and tablet devices. The game launched for iOS on November 11th, 2016 and on Android on
August 31st, 2017. The app is available for download on all current iOS and Android devices (later
than Android 5.0). The game also ties into the recently released feature film The Angry Birds Movie
(2016) and its tie in television series, Blues.
The main storyline of this game focuses on you rescuing Hatchlings from pigs by solving puzzles. The
Bad Piggies want to disrupt the eternal party of the Hatchlings via some well placed petty theft for
mysterious, spiteful reasons as yet unknown. This injustice is resolved by you clearing levels to return
the Hatchling s stuff and things to their rightful owners.
Unlike some of the previous games in the series, this entry is a casual gaming puzzler similar in style
to Candy Crush. The gameplay focuses heavily on three in a row tile matching. You must clear your
way through an enormous series of challenge maps across many worlds, stretching to more than 1000
levels. There are many different objectives for each map. These range from simply removing all the
pigs from play to placing different tiles together to reach a set number of combos.
The main game differs quite a bit from Candy Crush, however. If you ve ever played Tetris, Dig Dug,
or Bubble Bobble, you may recognise a few of the casual gaming mechanics here.
Early on, your main objectives will be centred on finding a way to pop the green piggies (the natural
enemy of the enraged avian) by completing block combinations next to them. Features such as glass,
mud, glue, crates, and bricks and some additional objectives will make it harder for you to beat levels
as you progress. Bird based special attacks can also be used to clear levels. Chaining blocks together
in certain ways will cause Red, Chuck, and Bomb to materialise into play. Each has their own style of
special ability with which to use to clear the field.
New to this game is a shop, reward chests, and unique loot. You can progress through purchasing
items with a currency system based around coins and gems. Buying or

The s The Egg And The Sperm
The Construction and Use of Nature for Authority One common perception of nature is that it is
something raw, untouched by human civilization. This point of view suggests that humans are
completely separated by nature and that our cultures and technologies are in some way unnatural.
However, I believe that not only are we a part of nature, but our cultures are also deeply entwined with
how we view nature. In this paper, I will review Emily Martin s The Egg and the Sperm: How Science
Has Constructed a Romance Based on Stereotypical Male Female Roles as well as Michael Pollen s
Why Natural Doesn t Mean Anything Anymore in order to examine how nature, culture, and power
relate with each other. Martin asserts that gender stereotypes affect biologists description of the natural
world, particularly in the human reproduction process. Pollen makes a case that nature in fact lacks
any meaning yet is often used as strong rhetoric. I argue that nature is constructed through cultural
values and is used for rhetorical purposes, which shows that people manipulate facts in order to gain

Jhumpa Lahiri Culture
In Jhumpa Lahiri s The Namesake, published in 2003, food is a ubiquitous motif that plays a crucial
role in the main characters transition from life in Calcutta to life in Boston. When Bengali immigrant
Ashima Ganguli first arrives in Boston, she feels very isolated from the American community,
knowing nobody but her husband. She tries to find solace in these early stages of her life in America
by maintaining a pure, untarnished version of her Bengali culture in her own home on Pemberton

snack foods void of all influence from Western ingredients. However, her inability to emulate the

between her Bengali roots and her family in America. However, through her continuous
nonfulfillment of her goals to perfectly emulate dishes like Jhal Muri and lamb curry, Jhumpa Lahiri is

College Facilites for Division III Athletics Essay
Division III athletics have become more then high school athletes holding onto a dream and
competing at the non scholarship level of the National collegiate athletic association. From 2004 to
2012 the average cost of having a division III athletics program has gone up 200% (Fulks, 2013).
From 2004 until 2012 the average cost per athlete has also gone up, from $3,500 to $5,800. This
money does not even touch the levels that are being spent in Division I, but Division III athletics are
on an upward trend of spending. The commitment to athletics in Division III has lead to money being
spent on new sports and recreation facilities. So much so that it s been put to question if there is an

The point of facilities has been to give the wow factor to visiting prospects. In almost all cases the
facilities at a college will be better then the high school or junior college the student athlete is coming
from. It is also believed that having better facilities will directly correlate with recruiting success,
especially against rival colleges. The belief that new facilities bring in better recruits was tested by the
research into the subject. Although new facilities did attract more initial interest from recruits
(Schneider, 2012) the final decision about which school to attend came down to other different factors.
In the study of The impact of Athletic Faculties on the Recruitment of Student Athletes college athletic
prospects were asked why they choose the college they did. With factors such as playing time,
location, tradition, education, facilities, teammates, and school color to name a few, the results were as
follows. Non Scholarship athletes that had no option to receive finical aid from the school they
planned on attending, like the ones in division III, had top five factors of 1) playing time, 2) social life,
3) Education, 4) Location and 5) Financial Aid. Not until after the top ten did weight room and locker

The Overcoat Literary Analysis
In the short story The Overcoat, Nikolai Gogol satirizes government bureaucracy and illustrates the
ridiculousness of government figures. In the story, a ninth class clerk named Akaky has a new
overcoat stolen from him, and when he goes to the government for help, he is met with disdain that
eventually causes him to fall ill and die. Through the literary devices of tone, point of view, and
characterization, Gogol makes mockery of social classes and the government.
In the story, Gogol uses a humorous tone to satirize government officials. Although the subject matter
is very serious with Akaky s poor lifestyle on top of the crime he has fallen victim to, Gogol uses
humor to illustrate the silliness of government officials. One prime example ... Show more content on

He does this by telling the story in third person omniscient, and emphasizing the silliness of the
government s mindset by entering it, while also showing Akaky s shock to the ridiculous actions of
government officials. An example of this is the conversation between the important personage and
Akaky over the crime of his stolen overcoat. When Akaky first enters the office of the important
personage, the important personage is said to have spoken with a hard sharp voice, that he has
practiced at home in front of a mirror, before taking the job. Although it is shown to the audience that
the harsh disposition of the important personage is a farce, Akaky can not see this. Gogol then flips to
his perspective, where Akaky is attempting to control his tongue because he is so scared. After the
important personage attempts to establish himself as superior, Akaky has to be taken out of the office,
where he is almost unconscious. The perspective then flips back to the important personage, who is
pleased at the dramatic effect that he had created. Gogol uses this third person omniscient point of
view in order to show not only the sham of the self important government officials, but also to
illustrate its disastrous effect on the lower class. By looking at the situation from

Literary Techniques In Station 11
Theme: Emily St. John Mandel, in her novel Station Eleven, uses the literary technique of space
imagery to argue that escapism is an immortal practice that is always a choice when facing reality,
regardless of how positive or negative that reality is. In Station Eleven space imagery is prevalent, and
Emily St. John Mandel uses it to showcase that that act of escaping reality is an immortal practice. In
the book there is many a mention to a particular quote form the hit series Star Trek: Voyager. The

John Mandel uses space imagery to show that escapism is always a choice when facing reality,
regardless of how positive or negative that reality is. She shows that escapism is an immortal practice
by inserting instances and situations both before and long after the flu. When Tyler insists on reading
his comic books over and over again to avoid his dilemma in the airport, Kirsten lets herself imagine
that she remember[s] the specific episode of Star Trek: Voyager, and Miranda returns to Station 11,
they all escape using space as a tool. Space represents the ability to break away from reality because
of how boundless, dark, and mysterious it is. Space will always be around just like Mandel argues that
escapism is. She shows that it is an option despite the state of the predicament by showing it used in
both negative and positive contexts. Clark, who uses it in a negative situation, uses escapism to
imagine ships moving over the water once again. Arthur uses it in a more positive state of affairs to
imagine his future life in Jerusalem with his son. No matter the situation or the time, escapism is a

A Slave From Bondage Essay
Man has been held against his will by another since the beginning of recorded history. Those held
against their will have sought to be free of the constraints imposed upon them by another. However,
there were some who were in bondage able to obtain freedom through a process that became known as
manumission. Manumission is the liberating of a slave from bondage. It is the formal act of freeing
one from slavery. In South Carolina, as with several other states in the Deep South, slaves could be
manumitted by one of two ways. Manumission could be given privately by an individual or it could be
done officially by state law. Private manumission was rare in most states, and was restricted, but it did
happen from time to time. Manumission was not an easy task to accomplish; private manumission in
fact was a rare occurrence in most states. Some slaves were freed by the last will and testament of
their owners, for faithful service, from masters freeing their slave mistresses and children from their
sexual relations, or by some meritorious deed. Attaining freedom in the Deep South by 1810 it was
almost impossible to manumit slaves. Most slaves yearned for freedom, but very few obtained it.
Those that attained this freedom achieved it through one of three means: manumission, through a last
will and testament, or legislative laws. A small number were even able to hire themselves out for pay
after the workday for the master ended and earn enough money to buy their freedom.

Exploitation of Imagery in The Dead and Araby by James Joyce
James Joyce, the author of both Araby and The Dead, exploits a sense of imagery throughout both
short stories. Araby and The Dead both share and differ from each other in the ways the imagery is
shown. The vivid imagery in Araby is applied to express feelings and expressions from one character
to another. The main character, an unnamed boy, has an undying admiration for Mangan s sister.
James Joyce describes the boy s obsession with Mangan s sister in vast imagery. The Dead also
includes many senses of imagery, but shows kinesthetic imagery rather than vivid imagery.
Kinesthetic imagery is an imagery that is portrayed through the movement and physical tension. In
The Dead, Gabriel, the main character, dislikes the country of Ireland he lives in, so he flees.
Throughout this, Gabriel describes how Ireland is boring and cold, displaying kinesthetic imagery. The
Dead and Araby both include vivid imagery, kinesthetic imagery, and auditory imagery.
Vivid imagery can be seen all throughout Araby. Vivid imagery is detailed writing that gives you a
sense of an image while you read. The story begins with North Richmond Street, being blind, was a
quiet street and continues to say, An uninhabited house of two storeys stood at the blind end, detached
from its neighbours in a square ground. The other houses of the street, conscious of decent lives within
them, gazed at one another with brown imperturbable faces ( Araby 1019). The way this imagery is

The Flaws In The Movie Kingdom Of Heaven
The movie Kingdom of Heaven is a very good movie. It is biased off of the crusades more specifically
the second crusade. However, no matter how good any movie is there is always flaws, this one is no
different. The amount of flaws I am able to choose from is tremendous. I have categorized them into
three main topics. First I will be talking about the false things that have to do with Balian himself.
Next will be the weapons them self s and how they fire/are used and outcomes of them. Last I will
state many of the other false tings in the movie and back up why they are false. In the movie there are
many incorrect elements about Balian and surrounding Balian. One of the larger issues I can see is that
he is not from France. As Helena P. Schrader says Balian was born in the crusader Kingdom of
Jerusalem. The movie started out with a scene of Balian burying his dead wife. Several men ride by on
horses and one says She was a suicide cut her head off... but she really never committed suicide.

Correlation Between The Locations Of Known Gang Members...
Research Question Is there a spatial relationship between the locations of known gang members and
drug violations?
Analysis It is expected, based on social disorganization theory, that census tracts with high
concentrations of gang members will also be high in disorganization. As seen in figure 1 this will be
established by creating a contour line hot spot of gang member locations and drug violations overlaid
on a map showing social disorganization. Social disorganization will be based on low education levels
and high unemployment rates, which are generally accepted measurements of disorganized
neighborhoods (see Gottfredson, Mcneil Gottfredson, 1991; Teasdale, Clark Hinkle, 2012). The map

However, we know that gangs do form in areas that are already high in crime and according to one
study they may not further increase crime in those areas but they do lead to a clustering of drug
offenses (Tita Ridgeway, 2007). Therefore, a cluster and outlier analysis (Anselin Local Morans I) was
conducted to determine if there is significant clustering in gang related areas. Seen in figure 3, drug
violations are clustered in the areas around known gang member locations. Based on journey to crime
and routine activities a central feature analysis was done to further explore if gang member locations
are associated with drug violation locations. Euclidean distance was utilized for this analysis as gang
members do not travel large distances and therefore are most likely on foot and not restricted to
roadways. Central feature was selected over mean center as gang members are more likely to work out
of their homes than any other offenders (Eck Gersh, 2000) so it was likely the central offense would
be very close or near the home of a known gang member. When broken down by year the central
features were stacked on top of each other with only the slightest variation as can be seen in figure 4.
Finally, a buffer will be placed around gang member locations to determine which drug violations are
likely related to their gang (figure 5). The buffer was set at 250ft as drug dealers generally have a
limited journey to crime. Approximately 25%

Additionally, the structure for all the five ways that Aquinas presented had similar argumentative
structure. First, an empirical fact is introduced which would lead to a conclusion which proved a
transcendent cause that relied upon these facts (35). A transcendent cause is a cause that is not a part
of the physical world but offers explanation of the existence and occurrences of this world (35).
Aquinas believed we did not understand God s essence, so he made the conclusion that God s
existence was not self evident to us, but it could be proven. Therefore, as stated earlier, he uses the
observation of motion to prove that God s lack of existence would be demonstrably false rather than
self contradictory (35). However, Aquinas argument

Matilda in the embrace of her lover, who escapes, leaving behind his suit. Although Philemon doesn t

have become a form of self expression. Oral piercings and tattoos may look cool, but they can be
dangerous to your health. Many people are not aware of the potential side effects of oral piercings.
Some of these include infection, prolonged bleeding, pain and swelling, chipped or cracked teeth,
injury to the gums, interference with normal oral function, blood borne diseases, and endocarditis.
These side effects occur because the mouth contains millions of bacteria, which makes it easy for
infection and swelling to occur with mouth piercings. If one were to pierce their tongue, lips, cheek or

Oral piercings also cause dental appointment difficulties. The jewelry can get in the way of dental care
by blocking x rays. If one were to experience any of these side effects caused by an oral piercing, the
best thing for them to do is contact their dentist or physician immediately. Following that, as with oral
piercings, tattoos have also become popular in today s society and are viewed as a form of self
expression. Although tattoos are very creative and beautiful, they also pose many risks. One of these
risks can be an allergic reaction. Tattoo ink contains several ingredients and chemicals that a person
may be allergic to. An allergy to any of the substances included in the ink can cause an allergic
reaction once the ink gets into the skin. A tattoo allergy can take a number of different forms, one of
these forms is known as an Acute Inflammatory allergic reaction. This means the skin becomes red,
slightly swollen, and irritated at the site of the tattoo. Many people who get tattoos can experience this
form of reaction. This form is generally not serious and subsides within about two to three weeks.
Another form of allergic reaction is Photosensitivity. This means tattoos that are exposed to the sun
may result in an allergic reaction, particularly those that contain Cadmium Sulfide which can cause an
allergic reaction to the sun. Granulomas are small bumps that can also appear as a result of an allergic
reaction as well. These bumps

Raku Pottery
However, the golden age of Japanese ceramics did not really begin until the sixteenth century when
the tea master Sen no Rikyū popularized the tea ceremony. In his refinement of this art form, Rikyū
found beauty in the earthly and natural forms of pottery and thus commissioned the production of raku
ware, which today, is considered the pinnacle of Japanese pottery. Notable for its ruggedness and
imperfections, raku ware made Rikyū into a central figure in the establishment of the wabi sabi
aesthetic. In the beginning, the textures and colors of wabi sabi vessels were left to develop naturally.
However, over time, several wabi sabi artists began experimenting and even developed techniques to
intentionally create these alterations. Obviously, the exact shape and form of an imperfection cannot

These two locations, as well as some others, produced utilitarian vessels of the wabi sabi aesthetic

Shigaraki ware is characterized by a fiery orange color and a speckled, bumpy surface caused by the

Screwtape Letters Rhetorical Analysis
In the Screwtape Letters, Screwtape used three rhetorical strategies against the patient; logos, ethos,
and pathos. Logos is an argument, the reasoning the author uses, and or logical evidence. Ethos is how
an author builds credibility and trustworthiness, the character and their ethics. Pathos is the words or
passages that an author uses to show and trigger emotions. Each of these were used to manipulate the
patients morals and values in life. Screwtape made sure that he was going to do bad things and be sent
to hell rather than do good so that he could go to heaven. Ethos was Screwtape s story that he told to
his apprentice Wormwood. Wormwood s assignment was to tarnish a man s morals during the WWII
era. Screwtape wanted wormwood to be a trustworthy demon when it came to doing his job. Their
enemy was god and they were going to stop the patient from going towards christianity. Wormwood
was going to use propaganda as a big factor in turning the patient away from god. God has two

mother in doing so. This all relates towards logos by being factual evidence to cause anger. With
pathos, C.S. Lewis wants to show emotion that the reader can relate to. He does this by showing tone
in the story with the patient and his mother. I have had patients of my own so well in hand that they

How Did Humanism Influence Titian Art
How humanism changed artists paintings: An analysis of Titian s work during the 16th century

The High Renaissance was a period of Italian painting that had the qualities of harmony and balance
with dignified, calm movement. The present study will focus on the development of early sixteen
century Venetian paintings by Titian during the High Renaissance. I ve chosen Gallery 607 at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art because it has the work of Titian, who was one of the greatest Venetian
artists, well known for his remarkable use of color and for his appealing renderings of the human
form. Titian created rich, luminous images by layering oil paint onto canvas. However, like many of

Humanists were more curious about life in the present and focused on the achievements of the
individual. Hence, instead of religious issues, humanists examined worldly subjects that the ancient
Greeks and Romans had studied. This led the people of the Renaissance to become interested in other
areas of science, the natural world, biology and astronomy. Mazzocco goes on to list some of the
effects that humanism had on Renaissance paintings. Firstly, ordinary people grew to be the same size
as saints in paintings and saints began to look more like ordinary people. Secondly, halos became
fainter and eventually disappeared. Thirdly, the natural landscape began to appear as a background in
paintings, unlike the middle ages when artists represented figures of heaven against a gold
background. Fourthly, artists became famous for their work, and the human body was depicted in
anatomical accuracy, and frequently nude. The perfect human type had proportions, muscular
structure, oval face, triangular forehead, straight nose, and balance with the weight on one hip. Lastly,
the use of mathematical perspective to represent three dimensional space in paintings was invented.
Mazzocco s book stresses how humanism changed art and thus, artists like Titian adopted these
changes and used them in his paintings during that

why stop and frisk is a very serious issue in the United States. Stop and frisk affects everyday lives of
minorities and it is racist because it mostly targets minorities. Stop and frisk affects the daily lives of

Araby And Babylon Revisited
Writing Techniques of Shorty Story Authors Compared: Joyce and Fitzgerald Araby by James Joyce
and Babylon Revisited are both stories written to convey everyday reality and truths of the narrator s
life. William Faulkner said during his Nobel Prize acceptance speech that an author must not leave any
room in his workshop for anything but the verities and truths of the heart . How do these particular
authors write embracing Faulkner s opinion to convey everyday life truths and realities? James Joyce,
in Araby writes of a young man who is obsessed with his friend s sister. Throughout the story we see
this young man facing an internal conflict. Does he follow the heart, or does he follow the mind? In

Essay Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
Many authors literary works are often influenced by their own personal life experiences. Among these
authors is Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most inventive writers of prose and poetry in the nineteenth
century. The juxtaposition of Poe s life and work is most evident in the morbid personalities and
melancholy themes of his literary compositions, similar to those of his life.
Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. His mother, Elizabeth
Arnold Poe, had been widowed at eighteen, and two years after his birth she died of tuberculosis at the
age of twenty four. Poe s paternal grandfather had been a wealthy man, but his father, David Poe, had
left the family to become an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many ways she became the mother he had lost so many years ago. (Meyers, 1992, p.17). Tragically,
Jane Stanard was dying from a malignant brain tumor. By the spring of 1824 she was confined to her
bed and Edgar was not allowed to see her. When she died insane on April 28, Edgar was devastated.
Like his mother, she had deserted him, dying a painful death at a young age. Helen became Edgar s
ideal woman unattainable, beautiful, and doomed. In Edgar s mind, beauty was now forever linked
with death. (Meyers, 1992 p.17).
Perhaps as a way of holding in to the memory of Jane, Poe composed To Helen, which eloquently
describes his beloved, and the beauty and purity he saw in her. In the first of the poem s three stanzas,
Poe compares Helen s beauty to the ships of Nicea, a city near the Sea of Marmara. In the second
stanza he refers to her Naiad airs. According to Greek and Roman mythology a naiad is a spirit that
occupies springs, fountains rivers, and lakes. Her Naiad airs, we are told, have brought the poet home
To the glory that was Greece/ And the grandeur that was Rome. In the poem s last stanza, he refers to
Helen as Psyche, a Greek personification of the soul. Poe s ode to his first love, written at the youthful
age of just fifteen, is one of his most famous compositions.

DEMENTIA CARERS
WHAT IS DEMENTIA
It is estimated that there are currently 820,000 people with dementia living in the UK alone and this is
set to rise over the next 30 years. As a carer, you are one of over six million people in the UK who
provide practical and emotional support for someone close to you. Caring for someone with dementia,
can at times be a challenging and demanding experience. Whilst there are often many rewarding
times, carers also say that there are times when they might feel angry, upset or lonely. This booklet
provides lots of practical information about dementia, its effects and different ways to help reduce

For most people the onset of Alzheimers disease is gradual and the progression slow and regular.
Symptoms will gradually become more severe over time due to increased damage within brain cells.
Vascular Dementia The most common form of Vascular dementia is multi infarct dementia which
follows a series of strokes, or infarcts, when a loss of blood flow damages specific areas of the brain.
The stroke may be silent , being so small as to pass unnoticed. If the supply of blood is restricted or
stopped, this disrupts the normal workings of the brain and over time, will lead to death of brain cells.
This can be caused by weakening, splitting, hardening or clotting within blood vessels, which in turn,
can cause mini strokes within the brain. However, not everyone who has a stroke will go on to develop
dementia.

As the disease progresses the person may experience changes in mood and personality.

For many people, Vascular dementia can begin suddenly. Common symptoms can include short term
memory loss, communication difficulties, confusion, hallucinations and physical symptoms, such as
weakness or paralysis. Unlike Alzheimers Disease, Vascular dementia often progresses in a step like
way, which can include a sudden change in cognitive function and ability. Dementia with Lewy

Bull Float
Running the Bull Float Pouring concrete is a huge part of America s past. The Hoover Dam is entirely
made of concrete. The Dam was erected of 3.25 million cubic yards of concrete while all of its
additional facilities were an additional 1.11 million cubic yards of concrete (Arbeiter). That s 4.36
million cubic yards of concrete! Assuming that the average price of a yard of concrete is one hundred
dollars in today s standards that adds up to 436,000,000 dollars for the concrete alone! That price
doesn t include the worker s wages, the price of steel and metal that has to be put into the concrete,
and even the price it cost to build the temporary diversions of the river so that the dam could be
constructed.
Since the start of last school year, I have probably poured a total of over one hundred cubic yards of
concrete. Later on I will explain how to calculate what a cubic yard is, but for now, just know that
concrete is no joke. Everyone involved must be focused at all times and if anyone fails to complete
their job, then the entire pour could go downhill quickly. After reading this essay, I hope you learn to
not only respect the amount of effort and work required to have a successful concrete pour but also to
learn some of the basic things involved in concrete. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most pours require you to own a bull float. A bull float is an approximately three foot wide piece of
metal attached to the end of a series of poles. This is used when finishing the concrete. You start by
setting the float angled at approximately a thirty degree incline and run the float across the concrete.
When you make it to the other side of the pad, you need to reverse the floats angle and have a one
hundred and fifty degree angle instead. Newer bull floats have twistable handles which come in very
handy. Older ones, however, you just have to rise up into the air really high to reach the desired

  • 2. The Genetic Disorder Or Autoimmune Disease A.Who first discovered the genetic disorder or autoimmune disease? Kraepelin recognized biological causes of mental illnesses. He is believed to be the first person to seriously study mental illnesses. Kraepelin s Manic Depressive Insanity and Paranoia in 1921 detailed the difference between manic depressive and praecox, which is now known as schizophrenia. B. Is the disease state recessive or dominant? One study has also found a higher frequency in families where the disorder is inherited from mothers. A particular case inquiry may be considered, assuming that bipolar affective disorder can be inherited as a sex linked recessive trait or as an autosomal recessive trait. C. Differentiate between recessive or dominant? The difference between the two is that it depends on the parents in which one or the both have the gene that is dominant but in which chase if it is recessive it would not get passed down. D. Is it a chromosomal abnormality? Although there is compelling evidence from twin, family, and adoption studies to support strong genetic determinants for bipolar affective disorder, the underlying molecular genetic basis for this condition remains poorly understood. The identification of the genes responsible for major psychiatric illnesses such as bipolar disorder would greatly enhance our understanding of etiology, as well as open new avenues for the development of more specific and effective treatments. First piece of word choice used by The Telegraph View I have chosen to write about is stigma which has connatations of branded, label, shame and disgrace. This shows us that people dont know the true meaning of mental health and think firstly of the sterotypes that come with it like its just all based around the same thing which has made is gain a very negative label or brand which is not the case and also it gives an impression that people dont really think about mental health that much and dont take it as serious as it should be taken. rife has connotations of common, global and normal. This shows us that having anxiety is normal and common to many people around the world and is not unusual as many people will have or will suffer from this during their lifetime. Finally my last example of word choice is disorientates which has connotations of lost and confused. This shows us that the writer is describing technology in the present day as they think it is becoming more useless as it can be confusing for people and harder to learn about and use especially in everyday life and work enviroments. The word choice I have metioned show us the impact of mental health not just to patients but others and what they think about it and also that technology is becoming much hard and causes ... They offer different possibilities for students, that other schools often cannot or do not have available. While public schools are where the majority of students go, due to a variety of factors, prep schools are frequently more beneficial than public schools. Prep schools have better facilities and higher success rates, and are therefore superior to public schools, despite what Holden experiences. A prep school is a school that offers a higher set of learning to its students, through various advantages. They only accept the best of the best students, which is one of the reasons that so many of their students go on to attend prestigious colleges as well (College Admission from Prep Schools | Ivy Coach Admissions Blog). These schools are known for offering diverse academic programming led by teacher scholars, many of whom hold advanced degrees in their subject areas (The 50 Best Boarding Schools in the U.S). Holden Caulfield in the novel Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger attended prep school, and although he disliked it immensely, he still formed a close relationship with one teacher in particular. That teacher, Mr. Antolini offers Holden a place to stay when he needs it, which shows the kind of bond formed between teacher and student at a prep school, compared to a public school. The Government s Combat On Copyrights Infringement Abstract As China rose to become one of the world s largest trading partners following its accession to the WTO, the country also began to face intense pressure from the international community to abide by standards on intellectual property rights. Specifically, China has strengthened its legal framework and amended its IPR laws and regulations to comply with the WTO Agreement on Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). The firm estimated that China s online video revenue increased 41.9 percent in 2013, reaching about $2 billion. In contrast, China s traditional TV industry has suffered a sharp decline. In 2012 only 30% of households in Beijing watched TV, down from 70% three years earlier (The Economist, 2013). However, the gains from the expanding industry come with high costs. Avoiding licensing costs from foreign production companies, many Chinese Internet video companies had become a haven for illicit American shows and hit South Korean soap operas. The illegal distribution of foreign content on these websites was an undoing to China s endeavor to ascent to a strong intellectual property country. Amidst criticisms from the right holders in the international community, China has tightened its regulations against copyright infringement on online video streaming websites. Another rationale behind the government s commitment to fighting copyright piracy is to protect domestic TV stations against the rampant popularity of foreign TV shows online. The Chinese government hopes that through an enforcement of IPR, China s TV industry will see a reduce in the invasion of foreign TV shows due to high licensing costs and thus an increase in the production of domestic popular ones. Through a careful analysis of the legal framework and measures the Chinese government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Righteousness Of Any Church The righteousness of any church, especially one separate of a denomination, is not how it is structured nor what title it is named, but rather how faithfully it abides by to the instructions of Holy Scripture. There doesn t exist a church that is infallible, because churches are made of mere humans who are adept in error. Even the Apostles, with all the favors of Spiritual Gifts that God bestowed upon them, were not devoid of mistakes. When it comes to anything that has to do with a corporate relationship with God and their collective love, worship, and praise for Him, we always take our direction from the Word which has all authority in our lives and the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. When speaking of corporate worship, we must begin with a criterion imparted by both Old and New Testaments: Father God only receives veneration presented within a Covenant context. One genuine description of worship that seeks to be scriptural, needs to initially recognize that worship is distinctive in that it is a glorification of both individual and corporate covenant bond with the Lord God Almighty. The expression covenant merely pronounces an unambiguous relationship between two entities, in this instance El Shaddai and His created beings. The relationship has clearly defined prerequisites and commitments. Sometimes both entities to the covenant must keep all the commitments for the covenant to remain in force (a conditional covenant) while at other times God promises to ... The virus and the infection it causes are termed HIV. White blood cells are the part of the immune system that is important as far as fighting off infection. When a person catches HIV it infects and destroys certain white blood cells called CD4+ cells. If a lot of CD4+ cells are destroyed, the body can no longer fight off infection. When HIV progresses to its last stage it is called AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). People with AIDS have a very low number of CD4+ cells and get infections or cancers that do not commonly occur in non infected people. These infections and cancers can be deadly because the immune system is compromised. A common misconception that people have is that AIDS and HIV is the same thing. Having HIV doesn t mean you have AIDS. Even if a patient is never treated for HIV, it still takes a long time for HIV to turn into AIDS sometimes it can take up to 10 to 12 years for HIV to turn into AIDS. When a patient is diagnosed with HIV there are medicines to slow the HIV virus to turning into AIDS, medicines can slow or stop the disease from damaging the immune system. If AIDS does develop there is still hope, medicines can help the immune system become healthy again. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Krakow Research Paper Only a few miles from Poland s second largest cities, Krakow, lies a nearly barren field with only a moderate sized memorial to the thousands of people killed in a brutal act of genocide. Here, between 1941 and 1945, thousands of enemies of the Nazi party, primarily Jews, were worked, starved, died of disease, or were shot. Out of the over 150,000 people sent through Plaszow and its sub camps, only around 2,000 survived. In the years before the German occupation, the Jewish population of Krakow was usually around 70,000. After the Nazi conquest, the Jews were persecuted relentlessly. Between May and December of 1941, 55,000 Krakow Jews were forced into the countryside, and between 15,000 and 20,000 remaining Jews were housed in the newly established Krakow Ghetto. • 12. Converting ° Fahrenheit And Fahrenheit Converting °Fahrenheit to °Celsius and visa versa The freezing point of water in Fahrenheit is 32 degrees, in Celsius it is 0 degrees. The boiling point of water in Fahrenheit is 212 degrees, in Celsius it is 100 degrees. Consequently the difference between freezing and boiling is 180 degrees Fahrenheit (212 32) or 100 degrees Celsius (100 0). This means that 180 degrees change in Fahrenheit is equal to 100 degree change in Celsius, or more simply 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit equals 1.0 degrees Celsius. This gives rise to the following equations to convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit: °C = (°F 32) ÷ 1.8 For example: (68°F 32) ÷ 1.8 = (36) ÷ 1.8 = 20°C °F = (°C x 1.8) + 32 For example: (20°C x 1.8) + 32 = (36) + 32 = 68°F ... We also plan to attend any soil and water seminars offered before building begins to learn as much as possible about any new developments in environmental codes. The area in which the building will be located is subject to erosion from wind, rain, and water, which is the primary source of erosion in Alabama. • 21. Analysis Of Angry Birds Match What is Angry Birds Match? Angry Birds Match is Rovio Games sixteenth entry in their ever popular series of action puzzle games for mobile and tablet devices. The game launched for iOS on November 11th, 2016 and on Android on August 31st, 2017. The app is available for download on all current iOS and Android devices (later than Android 5.0). The game also ties into the recently released feature film The Angry Birds Movie (2016) and its tie in television series, Blues. The main storyline of this game focuses on you rescuing Hatchlings from pigs by solving puzzles. The Bad Piggies want to disrupt the eternal party of the Hatchlings via some well placed petty theft for mysterious, spiteful reasons as yet unknown. This injustice is resolved by you clearing levels to return the Hatchling s stuff and things to their rightful owners. Unlike some of the previous games in the series, this entry is a casual gaming puzzler similar in style to Candy Crush. The gameplay focuses heavily on three in a row tile matching. You must clear your way through an enormous series of challenge maps across many worlds, stretching to more than 1000 levels. There are many different objectives for each map. These range from simply removing all the pigs from play to placing different tiles together to reach a set number of combos. The main game differs quite a bit from Candy Crush, however. If you ve ever played Tetris, Dig Dug, or Bubble Bobble, you may recognise a few of the casual gaming mechanics here. Early on, your main objectives will be centred on finding a way to pop the green piggies (the natural enemy of the enraged avian) by completing block combinations next to them. Features such as glass, mud, glue, crates, and bricks and some additional objectives will make it harder for you to beat levels as you progress. Bird based special attacks can also be used to clear levels. Chaining blocks together in certain ways will cause Red, Chuck, and Bomb to materialise into play. Each has their own style of special ability with which to use to clear the field. New to this game is a shop, reward chests, and unique loot. This point of view suggests that humans are completely separated by nature and that our cultures and technologies are in some way unnatural. However, I believe that not only are we a part of nature, but our cultures are also deeply entwined with how we view nature. In this paper, I will review Emily Martin s The Egg and the Sperm: How Science Has Constructed a Romance Based on Stereotypical Male Female Roles as well as Michael Pollen s Why Natural Doesn t Mean Anything Anymore in order to examine how nature, culture, and power relate with each other. Martin asserts that gender stereotypes affect biologists description of the natural world, particularly in the human reproduction process. Pollen makes a case that nature in fact lacks any meaning yet is often used as strong rhetoric. I argue that nature is constructed through cultural values and is used for rhetorical purposes, which shows that people manipulate facts in order to gain authority. Martin investigates how cultural stereotypes of the two sexes are subtly incorporated into descriptions of the egg and sperm in scientific papers. She expresses that giving stereotypical roles to the egg and sperm has the power to naturalize our social conventions about gender (501). By associating the egg with feminine traits and the sperm with masculine traits, scientists make these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those held against their will have sought to be free of the constraints imposed upon them by another. However, there were some who were in bondage able to obtain freedom through a process that became known as manumission. Manumission is the liberating of a slave from bondage. It is the formal act of freeing one from slavery. In South Carolina, as with several other states in the Deep South, slaves could be manumitted by one of two ways. Manumission could be given privately by an individual or it could be done officially by state law. Private manumission was rare in most states, and was restricted, but it did happen from time to time. Manumission was not an easy task to accomplish; private manumission in fact was a rare occurrence in most states. Some slaves were freed by the last will and testament of their owners, for faithful service, from masters freeing their slave mistresses and children from their sexual relations, or by some meritorious deed. Attaining freedom in the Deep South by 1810 it was almost impossible to manumit slaves. Most slaves yearned for freedom, but very few obtained it. Those that attained this freedom achieved it through one of three means: manumission, through a last will and testament, or legislative laws. Araby and The Dead both share and differ from each other in the ways the imagery is shown. The vivid imagery in Araby is applied to express feelings and expressions from one character to another. The main character, an unnamed boy, has an undying admiration for Mangan s sister. James Joyce describes the boy s obsession with Mangan s sister in vast imagery. The Dead also includes many senses of imagery, but shows kinesthetic imagery rather than vivid imagery. Kinesthetic imagery is an imagery that is portrayed through the movement and physical tension. Also according to Virginia Ream the army s attacking would not just bombard the castle walls. There were people that would dig under the castle s walls to weaken them then they would fire at that area to bring them down. I found more information on this mining strategy on medieval castles.net. The large battle scenes were almost funny on how the catapults and trebuchets they had fired. • 32. Correlation Between The Locations Of Known Gang Members... Research Question Is there a spatial relationship between the locations of known gang members and drug violations? Analysis It is expected, based on social disorganization theory, that census tracts with high concentrations of gang members will also be high in disorganization. As seen in figure 1 this will be established by creating a contour line hot spot of gang member locations and drug violations overlaid on a map showing social disorganization. Social disorganization will be based on low education levels and high unemployment rates, which are generally accepted measurements of disorganized neighborhoods (see Gottfredson, Mcneil Gottfredson, 1991; Teasdale, Clark Hinkle, 2012). However, we know that gangs do form in areas that are already high in crime and according to one study they may not further increase crime in those areas but they do lead to a clustering of drug offenses (Tita Ridgeway, 2007). Therefore, a cluster and outlier analysis (Anselin Local Morans I) was conducted to determine if there is significant clustering in gang related areas. Seen in figure 3, drug violations are clustered in the areas around known gang member locations. Based on journey to crime and routine activities a central feature analysis was done to further explore if gang member locations are associated with drug violation locations. Euclidean distance was utilized for this analysis as gang members do not travel large distances and therefore are most likely on foot and not restricted to roadways. Central feature was selected over mean center as gang members are more likely to work out of their homes than any other offenders (Eck Gersh, 2000) so it was likely the central offense would be very close or near the home of a known gang member. When broken down by year the central features were stacked on top of each other with only the slightest variation as can be seen in figure 4. Finally, a buffer will be placed around gang member locations to determine which drug violations are likely related to their gang (figure 5). The buffer was set at 250ft as drug dealers generally have a limited journey to crime. Approximately 25% ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, an empirical fact is introduced which would lead to a conclusion which proved a transcendent cause that relied upon these facts (35). A transcendent cause is a cause that is not a part of the physical world but offers explanation of the existence and occurrences of this world (35). Aquinas believed we did not understand God s essence, so he made the conclusion that God s existence was not self evident to us, but it could be proven. Therefore, as stated earlier, he uses the observation of motion to prove that God s lack of existence would be demonstrably false rather than self contradictory (35). However, Aquinas argument ... We can clearly see the transformation in the character of Philemon from this point onward. The fact that he resorted to such absurd means of punishing her is evident of the extent of power that he had over her. Matilda is forced to set a plate of food for the suit and carry it around as they strolled through town. To escape her current misery, Matilda joins a cultural club. After Philemon agrees to allow his wife to host a party, she invites the club members to her home. Although Matilda was reluctant to bring out her honoured guest , Philemon insisted that she should. The amused guests assumed that this was merely a game played by the couple. Despite Matilda s hope that Philemon will keep her punishment at rest for the evening, he managed to humiliate her beyond extent. • 38. Raku Pottery However, the golden age of Japanese ceramics did not really begin until the sixteenth century when the tea master Sen no Rikyū popularized the tea ceremony. In his refinement of this art form, Rikyū found beauty in the earthly and natural forms of pottery and thus commissioned the production of raku ware, which today, is considered the pinnacle of Japanese pottery. Notable for its ruggedness and imperfections, raku ware made Rikyū into a central figure in the establishment of the wabi sabi aesthetic. In the beginning, the textures and colors of wabi sabi vessels were left to develop naturally. Pathos is the words or passages that an author uses to show and trigger emotions. Each of these were used to manipulate the patients morals and values in life. Humanists were more curious about life in the present and focused on the achievements of the individual. Hence, instead of religious issues, humanists examined worldly subjects that the ancient Greeks and Romans had studied. This led the people of the Renaissance to become interested in other areas of science, the natural world, biology and astronomy. Mazzocco goes on to list some of the effects that humanism had on Renaissance paintings. Firstly, ordinary people grew to be the same size as saints in paintings and saints began to look more like ordinary people. Secondly, halos became fainter and eventually disappeared. Thirdly, the natural landscape began to appear as a background in paintings, unlike the middle ages when artists represented figures of heaven against a gold background. Fourthly, artists became famous for their work, and the human body was depicted in anatomical accuracy, and frequently nude. The perfect human type had proportions, muscular structure, oval face, triangular forehead, straight nose, and balance with the weight on one hip. Lastly, the use of mathematical perspective to represent three dimensional space in paintings was invented. The stroke may be silent , being so small as to pass unnoticed. If the supply of blood is restricted or stopped, this disrupts the normal workings of the brain and over time, will lead to death of brain cells. This can be caused by weakening, splitting, hardening or clotting within blood vessels, which in turn, can cause mini strokes within the brain.
