Complementarian Versus Egalitarian Theology
Complementarian vs. Egalitarian Theology and Beliefs
Christian views, attitudes and beliefs about gender have always varied with some ideas evolving with
society and others set in tradition, never to change. While some see gender difference as a feminist
issue, others see it as a role requirement set by God. Of course, there are extremists on both sides of
this argument, as well as inter lapping beliefs, but gender issues are still debated by Biblical scholars
often and passionately. Not exclusive to denomination, gender equality is a subject that can be
examined in many ways, but the focus of this paper will be on two types of theologies,
Complementarian and Egalitarian. While both theologies rely on Bible scripture to gain and prove

This view can also be referred to as biblical equality. Egalitarians feel that Bible teaches Christians
equality both genders within all racial and ethnic groups, economic classes, and age groups based on
the example and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Egalitarian theology interprets scripture with the inference that the teachings of Jesus Christ, through
the Apostle Paul, ended gender specific roles for both genders with regards to the church, ministry and
in marriage. This view explains that God calls each of us to roles within the church with no regard to
race, gender or class. Egalitarians feel that each person should have equal responsibility to use their
talents to follow their calling in order to glorify God, without limitations or rights that are based on
gender. Under this theology, leadership or control in the Church or in the home should not be based on
gender or be male dominated. Egalitarian theory stresses the importance of the Bible teaching
individuals the equality of both genders in the creation and redemption. Nevertheless, in the Lord
woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man,
so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. (1 Corinthians 11:11 12 NIV). There

Mia Hebib s piece, Irregularities , a set of stackable rings, is comparable to The Bobrinsky Bucket .
The Bobrinsky Bucket is a brass work and is augmented in a way that makes it a luxury object; two
artisans, a caster and a decorator, out of brass with copper and silver inlay , made it. This is a vessel
that is meant to wish positive experiences to the owner through its inscriptions and imagery. The
inscriptions, in some spots, look like they are playing bat gammon, drinking, and playing music.
Another band contains an inscription that sends good wishes to the owner. This inscription is hard to
read because there are human and animals forms in this inscription. The third register is again, good
wishes. The last register is a bunch of horsemen hunting and fighting. On the rim of the bucket is
another inscription that says who ordered it and for who it was made and who made it. On the handle
it tells us that the vessel was made in 1163. This vessel would have been used for bathing in a
bathhouse. There are manuscript images depicting bathhouses with people of the upper class using

Taking a Look at the Anasazi Tribe
The Anasazi are the ancestors of today s Pueblo Indians and they are from the four corners region, the
corners of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah (Witze). They were able to produce a lot of
crops even though they lived in an area of little rainfall. They learned to farm in barren lands. They
were very artistic people. They are known for their baskets and pottery and are highly admired by
collectors ( The Anasazi ). Most people know them because of their cliff dwellings. They built homes
on mountainsides as a defense mechanism. They also are known for their pits, kivas, that were temples
of worship for their ancestors. More recently, they have been come to known for possibly partaking in
cannibalism between 1150 and 1175 AD. This has caused a huge debate between archaeologists and
the Puebloan people. One major conflict with cannibalism is whether it is morally right or wrong. First
off, cannibalism can mean very different things, all of which have loaded cultural connotations, and
carries some very heavy historical and emotional baggage (Dongoske, Martin, and Ferguson 2000).
Depending on the society, the practice of cannibalism can or cannot be socially acceptable. For
example, Westerners typically view cannibalism as morally wrong and corrupt. Prejudice has formed
against those accused, such as the Anasazi. Even if cannibalism had happened among them does not
mean that the Anasazi people were accepting of it. There are a lot of generalizations made against

Similarities And Differences Between A Braxon Tale And A...
In the film, A Bronx Tale, Lorenzo Anello states to his son, They want to see you do good, but never
better than them...remember that , because of the addition his son was taking from the wrong people.
These film s setting can be identified by the title, the film Chinatown that took place in Los Angeles,
but with Chinatown being an important part of the film. Unlike that, A Bronx Tale is clearly in one of
the boroughs that make up New York City. It s easy to tell the differences between these two films, but
not as simple to determine the similarities. Much more differences happen to appear between these
two films, from character traits to the setting, they re undoubtedly not the same. As for similarities,

Los Angeles is a desert community . During the time, Los Angeles was part of the desert, but in the
other film, New York has been already in its prime with larger skyscrapers and a more diverse
community. Not only that, but even throughout the films, it was noticeable to point out the cultural
and architectural differences within the people and buildings portrayed. The way the cities are
portrayed in the films truly do change the experience one may have in those cities throughout life
because one may expect the cities to be what they want it to be as shown in the films, but in reality
won t experience that because it s currently two thousand and seventeen and the films were made to
give the audience a taste of what 1937 and the 60 s were. As for symbolism, both the films use
different techniques with symbols that create and reveal more than what is being shown to the
audience. For example, in A Bronx Tale, music is the key symbol for everything. Such as the bus
scene when Calogero is talking to his father, who is driving the bus, and can t help but stare into Jane s
eyes. Before Calogero sees her, upbeat jazz is playing from his father s radio; yet as soon as Calogero
sees Jane, the music begins to slow down and make the scene more than what it appears to be.

in Chinatown is the color of clothing the people wear and the cigarette smoke

Temperature In The Middle Ages Essay
The topic is about whether temperatures were actually warmer in the Middle Ages than they are today.
If so, why? If no, why not? I believe it is important because to know our past is to predict our future.
The knowledge of what the temperatures were like fifteen hundred years ago, with little human
interference, is the perfect way to create a scenario of today s climate and the how s and why s.
However, going down this rabbit hole one may uncover uncomfortable facts about our current
predicament. Answers found in both the past and the present could be disturbing. The Medieval Warm
Period took place between the 10th and 15th centuries. During this era, ice free seas far to the north
allowed the Vikings to settle Greenland and sail from Norway, Sweden, Briton and France on a regular
basis with no trouble from the cold or sea ice. North America was in the grip of a grave drought. But
just how warm was the Medieval Warm Period? To answer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some evidence implies warm temperatures in several parts of the globe, including the North Atlantic,
northern Europe, China, and parts of North America. Other studies retain evidence that the
temperature conditions of certain regions, such as, South America, and other locations in the Southern
Hemisphere, were no different from those of today. It is often pointed out that the MWP was a
flourishing time in European history. This particular period saw the Vikings from the far North travel
and raid northern communities at will. To me, the exploration and colonization of the New World,
Iceland, and Greenland in relatively tiny vessels, manned only by oarsmen and sails is the foremost
factor in the telling of climate conditions. Those seas would not be traversal in this day and age. Also,
proof of warmer temperatures in northern Europe, can be found in records of wheat production and
vineyards at latitudes and much higher than today (Crowley,

Afternoons by Philip Larkin Essays
Afternoons by Philip Larkin.
A poem which reflects on the subject of marriage is Afternoons by
Philip Larkin. The poem deals with Larkin s view on young mothers watching their kids playing in a
playground and on this he concludes that marrying young and having children young, lead to the
mothers losing their identity and destiny. The techniques used by the poet such as theme, imagery and
tone deepened my understanding of the issue. The structure of the poem is simple; there are three
stanzas with eight lines in each. However, unlike every other poem by Larkin this layout has no direct
meaning. The lines are unrhymed. The first stanza deals with Larkin s rather cynical view of marriage
and deals with the idea that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the idea of wind in the poem, Larkin is able to add his own personal views. The wind acts as
an idea of change. This is continued moreover in the third stanza via the use of enjambement. This
enables
Larkin to carry on and develop his point.
Larkin s use of imagery is very effective. The courting places which were once used by the young
mothers are changing but so are their children. The courting places are still being used, however, the
people of whom should be using them now have the burden of children and can no longer have the fun
this place entails. The unripe acorns as described by Larkin, are the children who are still in school .
This implies Larkin, as an outsider observing and looking in, believes that as generations pass
romance is lost further and that people have children far to young. The children within the school are
not mature enough to realise what courting means. A grim humour is assumed when the reader realises
these children still have a future wereas the young mothers do not.The tone of the poem has become
increasingly more cynical. Larkin refers to how regimented the mothers lives are again when they are
expected to pick up their children from school. The women have changed immensely with the
pressures and responsibilities that the child has brought, they are putting on weight and losing their
looks, probably due to having the children. Their beauty has thickened .

Tehuana Self Portrait
Portraits are some of the most common paintings within the art community, as long as people have
made art there have been portraits. For the first few thousand years, portraits, whether drawn, painted
or sculpted, were typically reserved for those deemed important enough to be honored with a work of
art bearing their likeness. This thought still rains true, but the consideration of those named important
enough has then shifted. Along with that the meaning of a portrait has changed to become more
complex at first glance. Frida Kahlo, Tehuana Self Portrait, 1940 and Francois Boucher, Madame de
Pompadour, 1750 are two portraits that offer a story within the painting itself, suggesting more than
just a wealthy persons elaborate lifestyle, transforming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This painting about the process of applying make up at the mistress s vanity conveying a pure young
woman. The lace and pink ribbons along the chest of her dress create an almost architectural quality,
being able to see the weight and stiffness that they create. The subtle focus on the cameo on her wrist
being a portrait of her lover, King Louis XV contrasted with that the size of her eyes compared to her
mouth transforms her into a childlike state. The painting provides a sense of mirroring. Even though
Madame de Pompadour has a mirror placed in front of her, she turns her body facing towards us with
an expression of intended innocence.
The two portraits tell a similar story of the women s past lovers. Frida s self portrait being much
clearer that there is more to the painting than just she, Boucher s is more indirect that the viewer may
miss the meaning by glancing over it. By the artist imbedding these practices the portraits become a
story one must analysis and dissect, by looking at the subjects using ones period eye. Transforming the

Little Blue River Watershed Management Plan
Introduction
Located in central Indiana the Little Blue River Watershed covers Rush and Shelby Counties and a
small section of Henry County. The Little Blue River Watershed is part of the Driftwood River
Watershed. (Little Blue River Watershed Management Plan, 2007, p.8) The main river within the
watershed is the Little Blue River which discharges into the Big Blue River. (Little Blue River
Watershed Management Plan, 2007, p.16) The river runs from northeast to southwest along an old
glacier channels. (Little Blue River Watershed Management Plan, 2007, p.24) Major tributaries within
the Little Blue River Watershed include Linn Creek, Rays Crossing, Manilla Branch, Little Gilson
Creek, Farmers Stream, and Beaver Meadow Creek. The tributaries combined with the Little Blue
River makes up 70.6 miles of stream length within the watershed. (Little Blue River Watershed
Management Plan, 2007, p.19)
History
The Little Blue River Watershed Management Plan started back in 2004 when the Shelby and Rush
Counties Soil and Water Conservation District conducted a diagnostic study on the watershed. The
findings lead to a grant from the Indian Department of Environmental Management to be used to
develop a watershed management plan. (Little Blue River Watershed Management Plan, 2007, p.8)
Starting in 2006 two public meetings was held to discuss the development of the watershed
management plan which leads to a wide range of issues brought up by the public. (Little Blue River

Evaluation of Abercrombie Fitch based on the United Nations Global Compact s Principles In the year
2000, the United Nations developed an initiative to make businesses more socially responsible. It is
called the United Nations Global Compact, or U.N.G.C. for short and it has 10 principles that are
categorized into 4 groups. Human rights, labor practices, the environment, and anti corruption policies
summarize the 10 principles that businesses should follow. Since its inception 15 years ago, more than
12,000 participants from all over the world have agreed to follow the U.N.G.C. s principles
(Participants and Stakeholders). So, where does Abercrombie Fitch fit into all of this? In order to fully
evaluate the business practices of Abercrombie Fitch, or A F for short, we need to see if they are a part
of the U.N.G.C. initiative, and what Abercrombie and Fitch says they are doing versus what they
actually are doing. After pointing out issues with Abercrombie and Fitch s practices for the last 15
years, it s also important to look at the effect these practices are having on the company s bottom line.
Out the 12,000 participants that have joined the U.N.G.C., more than 8000 of them are business
(Participants and Stakeholders). Abercrombie and Fitch is not one of them. Does this mean that
Abercrombie and Fitch does not care about human rights, the environment, or any of the 10 principles

Bar Soap Synthesis Lab From Fats And Lye
Bar Soap Synthesis Lab from Fats and Lye
Introduction
When an acid and a base combine they neutralize each other and make a salt. In simple terms,
saponification is the name for a chemical reaction between an acid and a base to form a salt called
soap. 409575187388500 Saponification has been used for centuries as a part of the soap making
industry. Many companies create a variety of soap products for commercial use, soaps can be in
multiple forms like bars, liquid, or even powder. In this lab it was planned to create a bar of soap.
Heating triglyceride in a fat or oil with an aqueous alkali, sodium hydroxide, results in hydrolysis of
the triglyceride esters forming soap. (Ausetute, 2014) A visual aid is presented in figure 1. (Chem La
Tech, 2003)
To create soap, two major raw materials are needed, fat and alkali. The alkali most commonly used
today in soap making is sodium hydroxide. Potassium hydroxide can also be used. The alkali used in
this lab was sodium hydroxide; sodium hydroxide was used as a reagent which is a substance that is
used in a chemical reaction to produce other substances. The common term for an alkali is simply lye .
Modern soap makers use fat that has been processed into fatty acids. (Made How, 2008) This removes
many contaminations and it produces as a by product of water instead of glycerin. Many vegetable
fats, including olive oil and coconut oil, are also used in soap making. Since the fat or oil starting
materials are not soluble in water, the

The Importance Of Journalism
Journalism plays a major role in aiding democracy and helping it function. It can shape the way we
view policies or how we view a particular candidate. Unfortunately, this can be sometimes forgotten
or overlooked in the midst of partisan debate, government shutdowns and the new insurgence of fake
news . If we were able to put the absurdity of these issues to the side and focus on the real impact of
true raw journalism, we can open our eyes and mind to the impact news has on all our political views.
Let us look at the impact and effects that journalism is currently having on last year s election and the
political climate around the world. One could say that journalism provides the public with

So, without the help of an investigative journalist this would have never been known to the public and
would have never caused chance in school policies.
The case was also similar when an investigative reporter revealed the conditions at a factory in China
producing the lovely Apple products we all seem to not be able to function without or live. An
investigative report revealed the harsh, at times deadly conditions under which Chinese workers
assembling iPhones and iPads live and work; the low pay and high turnover at Apple s retail stores;
the lengths to which Apple went to reduce its tax bill, and the shortsightedness of its conclusion that
Apples couldn t be manufactured in America (Duhigg) The finds by this investigative report caused
outrage and backlash on the Chinese and Apple from its loyal customers. This would eventually cause
an increase in wages for factory workers and better working conditions. Workers within these factories

excessive overtime in China, and reached out to advocacy groups it once rebuffed. It publicly

dollar investment in the US jobs was years later, the real winner was the Chinese workers who now

Claude Monet Haystacks
Claude Monet was a French artist of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. He used very gestural brush
strokes in many of his painted, making them less realistic like any of the artist were doing at the time.
He was thought of as the father of Impressionism. Impressionism is taking a image out of the realism
skim and making it looked less real and instead more of a painting. This is done by the long and large
brush strokes in many of Monet s pieces, making them an Impression of an image rather than going
for a photographic look. The movement name actually came from reviewers stating that the work was
an impression of an image rather than its own piece of art.

This made it easy for Mondrian to make the pieces such like haystacks. The elements of the movement
are color, line, and value. In the painting Monet used very bright and dark colors, and used large
brushstroke lines as well. The value is seen in the darkness of the background and the brightness of the
green lilies. This is also seen in many of the other pieces of impressionism in this time period.
Monet employs the principles of organization through scale, emphasis, contrast, and proportion. He
uses the close up scale of the haystack to show its emphasis in the piece. The contrast of the bright sky
on the darker haystack is very defined as well.
He used many elements of design in his piece as well. Line is a huge one; you can see the lines from
the shadows, the parallel lines of the tops of the haystacks, and the landscape horizontal line as well.
He also showed a ton of space since the haystacks are all on the left side, the right is a huge open
space in the painting. Form is also used in the piece, considering the haystacks look 3D to the human
eye. The color and value work together to create the darkness of the haystacks and shadows, and the
light blue of the sky as well. Mass is the last element seen in this piece. The haystacks seem so
massive in the foreground compared to the horizon in the face background of the

A Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift Analysis
Imagine everyday stepping foot outside and witnessing children as well as their mothers on every
street corner begging for food and clothing. These items are everyday necessities that people had to
beg for because they could not afford to take care of themselves and their children. For example, most
children in today s society could not imagine living without three meals everyday. Their parents
provide and nurture for them as well as give them clean clothes to change into everyday. This goes to
show children living in present day are far better off than children living in the time period of swift s

Such violations of human rights have not only taken place in the international arena, but also at the
domestic level as well. After the events of 9/11, the US saw a sharp increase in discriminatory racial
profiling and restriction of civil liberties for its citizens (Welch, 2004, pp 5). An example of this can be
seen with the Special Registration Program issued by the Justice Department in 2002 that applied to
non immigrant male visitors from certain countries that were associated with terrorism. The program,
also known as the Domestic Call in Registration, has involved policies such as fingerprinting,
photographing and the interviewing of more than 46,000 students, tourists and businessmen. Further
investigation into the policy has concluded that the program was characterised by cultural insensitivity
and unprofessional conduct (Welch, 2004, pp 6). I would also note that the government is yet to

Through a number of laws aimed largely at deterrence after the 9/11 attacks, such as instituting severe
penalties for aircraft hijacking, the US government has helped protect American citizen s rights to life

measures mandatory throughout America and as a result, US hijack attempts dropped from 31 to 3 and
3500 pounds of high explosives, 2000 guns and 23,000 knives and other lethal weapons were found

similar legislation has been passed post 2001 and so the findings can be extrapolated to suggest that
stricter security measures employed in the War on Terror have helped to protect civilians from further

The Importance Of Teaching In Education
Introduction
Education is about in parting knowledge based on one s belief, truth and justification with the purpose
of surviving in this changing world. Highly educated people are well recognized and given high
reputation in the society. Hence, teaching is a process of sharing information between the teacher and
students in a positive, caring, changing and stress free environment where new knowledge must be
constructed and tested through student teacher interaction using different strategies so that children
could master knowledge and skills of desired fields including values, ethics, and other social
knowledge. To fulfill this purpose, teachers should be active, forward thinking, energetic,
knowledgeable, sincere and punctual for changing one s truth, belief and justification. To satisfy these
educational needs, learning should be a fun mechanism for students in which they enjoy by
responding, interacting, socializing, inventing, sharing, discovering and deciding about knowledge,
skills, values, ethics and discipline by expressing a permanent change in behaviour. As learning is
defined as a permanent change in behaviour, it is teacher s interest to consider teaching as a personal
challenge in which students are diverted to a more progressive learning environment where they make
their own judgment based on what they experience with exposure to real life like activities. With this
as teacher s interest in the field, it is a sensation for them to focus on the whole child

Joseph Campbell described an hero as someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than
oneself. In other words an hero has to be brave and courageous to give up his existence for others to
benefit from it. All stories consist of few common structure found universally in myths, tales and
movies. They are generally known as the hero s journey. The ability to be able to critically analyze it is
what is needed when trying to introduce the hero s journey into a story like this. Joseph Campbell
described the journey of an hero as occurring in a cycle consisting of three stages from departure
where the hero leaves his comfort and enters the world of the unknown. The second stage which he
called the initiation phase where the hero is subjected to a series of examinations where he must prove
himself. The last phase which is the return where the hero brings the benefit of his struggle back to his
people. This short story might not have exhibited this phases directly because of its tragic end but in
spite of its unorthodox structure the application of the simple mythological pattern of the hero s

The Effect of Manual Hyperinflation and Suctioning in...
A study was conducted to assess the effect of manual hyperinflation and suctioning in mechanically
ventilated patients to prevent the risk of ventilator associated pneumonia admitted in intensive care
unit of selected hospital, Belgaum, Karnataka A randomised control trial.
Background and objective:
Mechanically ventilated patients are increasingly at the risk of acquiring Ventilator associated
pneumonia (VAP) which is the leading infectious complication, affecting from 8% to 28% of patients
admitted in the intensive care units. Morbidity and mortality associated with the development of VAP
is high, with mortality rates ranging from 20 to 41%.Development of VAP increases ventilator days,
critical care and hospital lengths of stay. Essential airway management is one of the important
interventions to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia. Manual Hyperinflation (MH) enhances
clearance of airway secretions and thereby improved lung compliance, reduced inspiratory resistance,
improved V/Q matching, cleared airway and re expanding the collapsed alveoli. MH could resemble a
forceful cough, with which, sputum could propagate from distal to more proximal areas that is, from
the smaller airways toward the larger airways, where it can be easily removed through endotracheal
suctioning. Hence MH followed by suctioning is considered to be a suitable intervention to prevent
VAP among intubated and mechanically ventilated patients.
The objective of the study was to assess the effect

Theme Of Nihilism In The Stranger
Introduction:Albert Camus was a French novelist, essayist, dramatist regarded as one of the finest
philosophical writers of modern France. He earned a worldwide reputation as a novelist and essayist
and won the Nobel Prize for literature. He became the leading moral voice of his generation during the
1950 s. One of the greatest modern writers, he expresses the moral concerns of 20th century. His
writings describe the contemporary feeling that life has no ultimate meaning beyond immediate
experience and explores the various philosophical schools of thought such as absurdism, nihilism and
existentialism. In this paper, we trace the evolution of the protagonist Meursault as a nihilist in Albert

Moral nihilism, also known as ethical nihilism says that no action is necessarily preferable to any
other. A moral nihilist would say that killing someone for whatever reason is not inherently wrong or
right. Meursault has the same idea. He senselessly murders his friend s enemy and when asked
whether he regrets the action, he merely replies that he felt annoyed. He does not find his action to be
wrong instead he shows an attitude that people do not matter dead or alive and that even a cold
blooded murder is free from the shackles of wrong or right. In the possession of his friends revolver,
Meursault is suddenly afflicted by the physically unbearable weather. The searing sun and bright sand
cause a burning sweat in his eyes. At the moment of utmost vexation the Arab reveals a knife whose
glaring shine in Meursault s face prompts him to pull the trigger and shatter the harmony of the day.

Ultimately, Granny Weatherall shows herself to be an independant and strong willed woman.
However, The Jilting of Granny Weatherall does not focus on Granny s exterior beng, but rather her
interior thoughts and emotions. This personal and in depth characterization of Granny reveals that her
need to be completely independant is the result of being abandoned at an altar by a man she loved. As
a young adult, Granny let down her guard in order to communicate her unadulterated love for George.
The act of George rejecting Granny s vulnerability caused her intense pain, leaving her blind and
sweating with nothing under her feet and the walls falling away. She keeps herself busy in order to
forget the memory of George. In fact, it seemed as though the entire life Granny built for herself was
to prove to George that he took nothing away from her, which acts as a giant ... Show more content on

Erikson theorizes that a failiure to obtain a secure reationship with another person causes increased
difficulty in forming relationships later in life. This is shown through Granny s fear of vulnerability
and dependency. Thus, hindering any possibility of a loving reationship. After George, Granny marries
a man named John and eventually concieves children with him. It is arguable whether Granny ever
loved John or if she merely used him as a tool in order to achieve what society percieves as a fufilled
life (getting married , raising children, owning a house, etc.). In fact the only mention of Granny s love
toward John is when she is imaganing herself listing her accomplishments to George. She mentions
her marriage, her children, her house and then follows all of this with like any other woman. It is
revealed that Joh had died and this caused for Granny to once again reject dependency and raise her
children

Reading Response Criticism
Reading response criticisms function: that the role of the reader cannot be omitted from our
understanding of literature and 2) that readers do not passively consume the meaning presented to
them by an objective literary text; rather they actively make the meaning they find in literature (154).
Reading Response criticism definition:
At its most basic level, reader response criticism considers readers reactions to literature as vital to
interpreting the meaning of the text.

The Best Years Of Our Lives Movie Analysis

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding And...
Looking back through the history of humankind, there is an eminent pattern of primitive and truculent
behaviour. William Golding and Joseph Conrad recognised this basic nature of humanity and
portrayed it in their novels, Lord of the Flies and Heart of Darkness. The environmental and
circumstantial influence on one s human nature is thought to have the greatest impact, as the isolation
from civilisation manumits the evil inside. Human nature, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is the
general psychological characteristics, feelings, and behavioural traits of humankind, regarded as
shared by all humans. These novels exemplify the concept of this behaviour to show how the savage
nature of a person is brought to light by the influence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the boys, the loss of clothing is seen as an adaptation to their environment, however, the placing of
this transition at the beginning of the hunting, suggests the beginning of the savagery. Through this,
we are reminded of humanity s capacity for evil and how man made moral systems are superficial.
Piggy, is represented as the voice of reason, when he cleans his glasses it means that his line of logic
and nature blur. His loss of sight, after having his glasses stolen represents the fall of reason. The
change in Piggy s attitude, due to the loss of sight, represents the shift of power from the reign of
reason to the reign of savagery. It is the boys descent from civilisation into savagery that highlights
that it is the eyes of civilization that keeps humanity s darkness in check, but when we are surrounded
by the silent whisper of the wilderness, we lose ourselves to the darkness.
Joseph Conrad, in Heart of Darkness, explores the concept that all behaviour and choices and the need
and desire of the individual lie at the very core of their human nature. Civilisation is a construct that is
designed to serve as a means of control of this core. Marlow, whose thoughts and attitudes shape the
reader s perception of the story, has a revelation

Bebop Research Papaer Essay
Bebop music was the next evolutionary change of Jazz music that succeeded swing music. This paper
s aim is look at musicians who impacted this era, exploring more in depth Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie
Parker. In the early 1940 s, the swing bands began to all sound the same as well as work along
predictable chord changes.1 The music was now not used for dancing. Some people believed that this
would let the music go away from the elite social groups, and now be for everybody. Also just because
a musician could play swing music well, there was no guarantee that the same musician would be able
to perform Bebop. This new style of music was defined through adventurous soloists such as Dizzy

Essay on Horror Theories in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
Horror movies are based on humanity s disturbing, inner thoughts that are kept hidden by
sophisticated and civilized facades. The fact that people pay money to go watch their own race be
slaughtered shows that civilization has two sides. There are many theories as to why humans act the
way they do, such as Steven King s beast within and potential lyncher theories and Stanley Solomon s
exploration and romantic isolationism theories. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 does a fantastic
job of displaying these theories about the horror genre if one knows what they are looking for.

He also believed that since everybody is insane, insanity comes down to how insane someone is (785).
King s potential lyncher theory correlates with the beast within theory. This theory simply explains
that everyone has the potential to a masked murderer if they don t keep their dark sides tamed (785).
Stanley Solomon s exploration theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is
the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and brainless. Why is
it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic
that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they have yet to be informed that a
monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim explores even though they know
they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the
character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells humans something
about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As audiences watch, they want to cover their
eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that
humans do this because the ultimate irrationality of this typical moment of horror in the nightmare
film represents our own subconscious desire to confront our inevitable dread: to meet death before we

building shut off once the tours were finished. He walked out onto the balcony as the moon hung high

Pearl Harbor Attack
In 1945, the United States had declared war on Japan after they had attacked Pearl Harbor. Since
Japan was an island, the U.S. wouldn t be able to directly attack them. It was too far away for an air
raid and naval raids would be too predictable and wouldn t work. So, the United States had to think of
a way to attack the Japanese. They decided that since the Japanese were still fighting against other
countries, they could attack the smaller islands surrounding Japan. The U.S. thought that these islands
would be less defended by the Japanese. The United States felt like they could use these islands to
provide a strong area for attacks on the Japanese mainland. This counter offensive attack was known
as the island hopping campaign. The United States were led by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz and
Douglas MacArthur. An island that the U.S. was strongly looking at was Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima already
had 3 airstrips on it, so they saw it as the perfect place to attack. Iwo Jima was an island located about
810 miles south east of Japan. It was part of an island chain called the Japanese Volcano Islands. It
measures about 5 miles long and has an area of about 8 square miles, which is about 8,000 times
smaller than Wisconsin. It ranges from 800 yards to 2.5 miles in width. Iwo Jima was widely known

Revitalization Movement In Ghost Dance
Deculturalization System
Esteemed author Brewton Berry wrote in 1968 that those involved in the education of natives
presumed that the purpose of educating native students was to assimilate them. They presumed that
natives would function better in society if they adopted the ways of the white man including his skills,
knowledge, language, values, religion, customs and attitudes (including those attitudes towards
slavery) (Dehyle Swisher 1997). This is because the white man s way of life set the standard for all
others to follow and for that education seemed the best process by which to effectively assimilate the
natives.

Abigail Adams Analysis
The author of this document is Abigail Adams, a white female that is married to John Adams. She
lives in a time where women have no form of representation, and they live in the shadow of men.
Because of this, Abigail takes up a woman s traditional role and performs activities such as
manufacture clothing for her family, soap making, creating gun/cannon powder for her husband, and
other chores for the benefit of her household (Adams, Paragraph 12). Fulfilling this role has shaped
her by securing her inferiority to her husband and other males. She as a woman lacks power both
socially and politically when it comes to the opposite gender; however, it is just this that has cultivated
her attitude towards her government, the male sex, and even her own spouse. By requesting that her
husband remember to give rights to women, it shows that she was brave enough to present her
opinions even though they were unwelcomed (Adams, Paragraph 9). She is headstrong in the sense
that she is willing to rebel if she does not receive the proper representation that she is asking for. Also,
by mentioning that the women would rebel, Abigail displays her intelligence because she could
foresee the inevitable future if women s rights were not improved (Adams, Paragraph 9). She sees the
world for what it is, unjust. Moreover, her social and political inferiority did not result in ignorance.
Based on her vocabulary, writing style, and comprehension/expression of such complex ideas, she

Essay about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
ABSTRACT
At this time, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS) is a very confusing and elusive disorder. While the
clinical presentation and diagnosis of ALS dates back to the early 1900 s, with Charcot being the first
to scientifically report and document his findings, there simply has not been definitive evidence since
that time for the etiology for ALS. This fundamental problem has befuddled the most qualified
researchers and its ensuing answer has eluded the most clever experiments for some 80 years.
This paper is being written to address some of the most plausible candidate causes which have come
to the forefront of ALS research in the last few years. This paper will also try to tackle the ... Show

The average age of onset is roughly 60. Even so, much more attention is giving to younger, healthy
individuals who succumb to the disease.
The typical history usually involves early recognition of an onset of clumsiness in the hands and
fingers, with a weakness in the legs soon to follow. There is also bulbar involvement that usually
manifests in problems with speech and swallowing. This bulbar involvement is interesting in that it
may be cytologically distinct from the corticospinal manifestation. The degenerative process itself is
unforgivingly progressive, except for a few permanent plateaus, and for all reasonable assessments,
will yield a fatal outcome. Even so, it should be noted that patients most often do not die from ALS,
but from secondary causes such as infection and pneumonia.
When considering ALS, the relevant question is not what has been proposed as the causative agent,
but what has not been proposed. Over the years, there has been a myriad of theories concerning the
etiology of ALS, some with a valid premise and decent evidence, and others being way off the mark.
Some of the theories that have been advanced include viruses, actions of specific neurotoxins or heavy
metals, failure of DNA repair mechanisms, altered axonal transport, or some type of unusual
autoimmune disease. With a significant volume of scientific literature being devoted to ALS progress
each year, it becomes painfully obvious how confusing it is to extract one or two well

Analyzing Lady Gaga´s Telephone Music Video Essay
Every day millions of telephone calls are made all over the world. In the 1980 s, a teenager would ask
their parents for a telephone in their bedroom. Today, more of the American population has telephones
than do not. It is a concept that we take for granted and probably always will. In prisons, you get one

extreme take on prison life, sexuality, and the importance of that one telephone call. It debuted in 2010
as one of the most controversial music videos of all time and is compared to movies because of the

They have somewhat of a sensual conversation before leaving the prison about the recent behavior of
Gaga. The video uses numerous stereotypes about women and their behavior both in public scenarios
as well as their sexuality. This includes the lesbian kissing scene, and the apparent love relationship
that builds between Gaga and Knowles in the second half of the story. Another is the general
misleading view that women who are in prison are large and strong women. This is often not the case.
One label that is broken in an attempt of feminism is a pretty simple stereotype about women. The
vehicle that they leave the prison in is a large Chevrolet pickup truck that says Pussy Wagon on the

Construction of Stereotypes
Renowned as history s best poet and most influential writer in all of English literature, William
Shakespeare used his examinations of society to instill a sense of modernism in his various retellings
of ancient melodramas. Shakespeare was able to create plays that challenged the current social
scheme, while at the same time preserving the values that defined England. In his play, The Merchant
of Venice, Shakespeare uses preexisting stereotypes as a foundation to develop his characters into a
new and modern adaptation of what it means to be a member of English society. In contrast to the
present day perceptions of women, the sixteenth century was a time dominated by men with women
expected to remain weak and submissive. However, Portia, a strong and independent heroine, was
Shakespeare s first true glorification of a female role. Not only praised for her beauty and wealth,
Portia is worshipped for being a quick witted and humble woman. As she watches a stream of suitors
pass by, Portia faithfully abides to the laws set forth by her father s will; a ... Show more content on

Depicting one of the first independent and courageous female character, Shakespeare was able to
elevate a deeper respect for women, and the pivotal roles they played in English society. Opposed to
eliciting a sense of scorn and hatred Shakespeare uses Shylock to confront a new meaning of Jewish
lifestyle, forming a new sense of pity and compassion from the viewers. Shakespeare s employs his
character Bassanio to judge and question the values and respectability of the English nobility,
exemplifying the importance of character over material resources. In his play, The Merchant of
Venice, Shakespeare s commentary of society, forces new development and ways of thought from the

Importance Of English In Kenya
Most people who think of English will agree that it is one of the most diverse forms of
communication. A hybrid made of various words and phrases from other cultures, it is commonly
considered a lingua franca and is used to bring those various cultures together. But in some ~ cases,
English is not being used to bring the people together, but rather deliberately split them apart. Such a
case has been occurring in Kenya, where the usage of English has become an underhanded tool to
partition the power between the elites and the commoners.
Kenya is an Outer Circle country, which means that the use of English is the result of colonization and
has become ingrained in society and daily life as an important function. In Kenya s case, English was

In the year 1963, Kenya was fully declared independent from British rule. However, its influence still
exists throughout the country today. Currently, English is used in primary and secondary education,
and based on British English and spelling. (Cite as before) Today, English is one of the official
languages in Kenya, alongside Swahili, the native language.
Though English has many uses, and plays important roles, it has also been used as ulterior means to
promoting a (destructive) hegemony.
Kenya opted for capitalism and English as the most practical medium for business communication
(English around the World)
Despite the widespread presence of English throughout the country, (much like other countries) the
actual understanding and ~~ of English is low. In fact, it is estimated only twenty percent to a quarter
of the (common) population has a decent and ~~ understanding of the language. It is sometimes a
second, third or even fourth language for large segments of the population. . Even those who know
English may not be speaking it correctly.
This fact is the core of the governmental problem in Kenya English is being manipulated as a means
to ensure more power to the government and take away from the common people. For example, daily
media, magazines, and websites are widely biased towards using English and continue to grow. This
poses a big problem for government situations. The official language for documents and

Alberta, Canad A Short Story
It s December 17, 2002 ,5:46pm in Alberta, Canada there s a bitter burning smell in the air as I return

Jim rushed over and lifted the debris and I picked up the girl and rushed her out, she tells me her name
is Rose and she was looking for her mother and wondered what to do, but I had already passed her to
an officer leaving her without an answer. Soon after me was Jim rushing out of the building. The team
put out the few other buildings and we had accomplished the mission at hand. Afterwards Jim and I
went back to Banff and had breakfast after staying up all night looking at a hot red light. I thanked Jim
for going inside the building and helping me save the girl inside, JIm then explained to me that he
didn t just go inside to get the job done, but to comfort me when he knew I didn t have a lot of
experience with such a big fire. This helped me to realize that my teammates had my back. Not only
did this help me to overcome the fear that being a firefighter, but it helped with my mother s passing

While some see gender difference as a feminist issue, others see it as a role requirement set by God. Of course, there are extremists on both sides of this argument, as well as inter lapping beliefs, but gender issues are still debated by Biblical scholars often and passionately. Not exclusive to denomination, gender equality is a subject that can be examined in many ways, but the focus of this paper will be on two types of theologies, Complementarian and Egalitarian. Egalitarians feel that Bible teaches Christians equality both genders within all racial and ethnic groups, economic classes, and age groups based on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. Egalitarian theology interprets scripture with the inference that the teachings of Jesus Christ, through the Apostle Paul, ended gender specific roles for both genders with regards to the church, ministry and in marriage. This view explains that God calls each of us to roles within the church with no regard to race, gender or class. Egalitarians feel that each person should have equal responsibility to use their talents to follow their calling in order to glorify God, without limitations or rights that are based on gender. Under this theology, leadership or control in the Church or in the home should not be based on gender or be male dominated. Egalitarian theory stresses the importance of the Bible teaching individuals the equality of both genders in the creation and redemption. Taking a Look at the Anasazi Tribe The Anasazi are the ancestors of today s Pueblo Indians and they are from the four corners region, the corners of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah (Witze). They were able to produce a lot of crops even though they lived in an area of little rainfall. They learned to farm in barren lands. They were very artistic people. They are known for their baskets and pottery and are highly admired by collectors ( The Anasazi ). Most people know them because of their cliff dwellings. They built homes on mountainsides as a defense mechanism. They also are known for their pits, kivas, that were temples of worship for their ancestors. More recently, they have been come to known for possibly partaking in cannibalism between 1150 and 1175 AD. This has caused a huge debate between archaeologists and the Puebloan people. One major conflict with cannibalism is whether it is morally right or wrong. First off, cannibalism can mean very different things, all of which have loaded cultural connotations, and carries some very heavy historical and emotional baggage (Dongoske, Martin, and Ferguson 2000). Depending on the society, the practice of cannibalism can or cannot be socially acceptable. For example, Westerners typically view cannibalism as morally wrong and corrupt. I believe it is important because to know our past is to predict our future. The knowledge of what the temperatures were like fifteen hundred years ago, with little human interference, is the perfect way to create a scenario of today s climate and the how s and why s. However, going down this rabbit hole one may uncover uncomfortable facts about our current predicament. Answers found in both the past and the present could be disturbing. The Medieval Warm Period took place between the 10th and 15th centuries. During this era, ice free seas far to the north allowed the Vikings to settle Greenland and sail from Norway, Sweden, Briton and France on a regular basis with no trouble from the cold or sea ice. The techniques used by the poet such as theme, imagery and tone deepened my understanding of the issue. The structure of the poem is simple; there are three stanzas with eight lines in each. The courting places are still being used, however, the people of whom should be using them now have the burden of children and can no longer have the fun this place entails. The unripe acorns as described by Larkin, are the children who are still in school . This implies Larkin, as an outsider observing and looking in, believes that as generations pass romance is lost further and that people have children far to young. The children within the school are not mature enough to realise what courting means. A grim humour is assumed when the reader realises these children still have a future wereas the young mothers do not.The tone of the poem has become increasingly more cynical. Larkin refers to how regimented the mothers lives are again when they are expected to pick up their children from school. Background and objective: Mechanically ventilated patients are increasingly at the risk of acquiring Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) which is the leading infectious complication, affecting from 8% to 28% of patients admitted in the intensive care units. Morbidity and mortality associated with the development of VAP is high, with mortality rates ranging from 20 to 41%.Development of VAP increases ventilator days, critical care and hospital lengths of stay. Essential airway management is one of the important interventions to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia. Manual Hyperinflation (MH) enhances clearance of airway secretions and thereby improved lung compliance, reduced inspiratory resistance, improved V/Q matching, cleared airway and re expanding the collapsed alveoli. MH could resemble a forceful cough, with which, sputum could propagate from distal to more proximal areas that is, from the smaller airways toward the larger airways, where it can be easily removed through endotracheal suctioning. William Golding and Joseph Conrad recognised this basic nature of humanity and portrayed it in their novels, Lord of the Flies and Heart of Darkness. The environmental and circumstantial influence on one s human nature is thought to have the greatest impact, as the isolation from civilisation manumits the evil inside. Piggy, is represented as the voice of reason, when he cleans his glasses it means that his line of logic and nature blur. His loss of sight, after having his glasses stolen represents the fall of reason. The change in Piggy s attitude, due to the loss of sight, represents the shift of power from the reign of reason to the reign of savagery. It is the boys descent from civilisation into savagery that highlights that it is the eyes of civilization that keeps humanity s darkness in check, but when we are surrounded by the silent whisper of the wilderness, we lose ourselves to the darkness. Joseph Conrad, in Heart of Darkness, explores the concept that all behaviour and choices and the need and desire of the individual lie at the very core of their human nature. Stanley Solomon s exploration theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and brainless. Why is it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they have yet to be informed that a monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim explores even though they know they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells humans something about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As audiences watch, they want to cover their eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film anyways. They decided that since the Japanese were still fighting against other countries, they could attack the smaller islands surrounding Japan. The U.S. thought that these islands would be less defended by the Japanese. The United States felt like they could use these islands to provide a strong area for attacks on the Japanese mainland. This counter offensive attack was known as the island hopping campaign. The United States were led by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz and Douglas MacArthur. By requesting that her husband remember to give rights to women, it shows that she was brave enough to present her opinions even though they were unwelcomed (Adams, Paragraph 9). She is headstrong in the sense that she is willing to rebel if she does not receive the proper representation that she is asking for.
