Gavin Jakositz10/13/15
Types of Torts or Personal Injury Claims
There are numerous types of personal injury claims for which compensation may be paid to the
injured party:
Motor vehicle accidents
Product liability
Dog or animal attack
Premises liability
Toxic tort
Wrongful death
Medical malpractice
Intentional tort
Different elements that comprise these types of injuries need to be proved by the person bringing
the claim so that compensation may be paid. Each of the torts may include a number of causes of
action that a claimant may allege including:
Negligence
Breach of warranty
Strict liability in tort
Intentional tort

There must be an injury caused by the breach of care. It can physical, financial or emotional.
There may be higher duties of care depending on the status of the liable party. A commercial truck
driver and physician have special duties of care as do business owners in slip and fall or premises
liability cases.
Medical Negligence
A medical professional has a particular duty to use reasonable care toward patients since a
physician has special training and knowledge that ordinary people do not possess. A doctor has a
duty to use the care expected of a reasonable physician with the same specialty acting in a similar
community under similar circumstances.
Typical medical malpractice actions include failure to diagnose, negligent treatment, failure to
obtain implied consent and negligence during or after surgery. A hospital or medical or nursing
facility may also be found liable for negligent hiring, maintaining equipment, keeping unsanitary or
unsafe facilities or for lacking required or standard protocol in delivery of

Comparing American Schools
Schools in America and in India are very different. Schools in America are less strict about things
and they have very different timings, Dress code, Lunch timings, Extracurriculars and After school
activities. The schools in America open early at seven thirty in the morning for High School and
they close at two fifteen in the afternoon , eight o clock for Middle Schooland they close around
three o clock in the afternoon, nine o clock for the Elementary Schools and they close at three
thirty in the afternoon. Most of the schools in india don t open until nine o clock, but all of the
grades go to school at the same time and they all end around four thirty in the afternoon. Schools in
America tend to do their announcements after first period. Announcements for schools in India
start right after they ring the bell for first period.
Schools in America are divided by grades such as elementary, middle and high school. These three

Cisco Case Study Essay
CASE QUESTIONS В– CISCO 1a. How did Cisco find itself in trouble with regard to its intended
IT prior to Brad Boston s arrival? Prior to his arrival, CISCO had a decentralized approach to IT
spending. Independent business groups were making decisions in fuctional silos. Each group
their own funds for IT, therefore, redundant applications such as CRM systems were created.
This was a global issue as well as a localized issue. The Cisco philosophy regarding IT was simple:
As long as someone was willing to pay for it, the IT department would work on whatever process

In 1993, when Peter Solvik took over as CIO of Cisco, he reallocated the IT budget to each
individual department. He also took the power away from an IT steering committee and gave it
to departments. This gave each department the ability to function independent of each other.
There was no need for them to communicate with other departments in order to achieve similar
objectives and goals. 2a. What is BPOC s role? The BPOC s role is to get together biweekly to
review and prioritize key initiatives that impact the company as a whole. BPOC would categorize
each initiative and then make recommendations for the different projects. b. How much formal
authority does it have? While they demonstrated no formal authority; the recommendations carried
a great deal of weight. These are senior executives and they do have a vast knowledge of what is
needed for the company to continue to be successful. c. How much IT funding does it control? It
does not control funding for any initiatives, it merely has strong influence and promotes its

Human Resource Professionals And Human Resources
Organisations of all kinds face changes in their environment, and there is a need for individuals
who are capable of turning strategy into reality. This change agent role is often located within
the Human Resource function. There are several reasons for this trend: Human resource
professionals have become business partners over the past decade, demonstrating the value they
can add to the business Leaders are looking for where the change process can best be managed
Most business strategies require major changes in people related issues, Human Resource
professionals develop and manage the key people systems needed to support organisational
change Organisations that demonstrate a flexible workforce who embrace the change will adapt
more efficiently and effectively, and therefore developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours
of the human capital is crucial. Learning and development initiatives are a key tool to encourage
this culture of life long learning, and will ultimately lead to a work force with the ability and
desire to grow and adapt with the organisation. The role of HR has changed from being a mostly
administrative role to becoming a force that helps shape company s aims and objectives. Whilst all

Overview
The main topics for Assignment 4 are standard costing, variance analysis, and budget creation.
Accountants of all management levels often have to analyze variance reports in order to help in the
decision making process. Through the differentiation of costs into fixed and variable classifications,
managers are better able to construct break even charts and other decision making and control tools.
Understanding cost breakdown can better determine where the inefficiencies of the operations lie,
and determine the first step towards enhancing the efficiency of an operation. In addition, cost

In early 2013, the CEO of the New Look Jacket Inc. (NLJ) was reviewing the 2012 operating
results (see Exhibit 1). He was pleased to see that sales and net income were higher than the
budget, but he had a feeling that the aggregated numbers were hiding some information. He
decided to call in the company s newly hired controller, a Certified

NLJ produces and sells two lines of jackets: nylon and leather. The market for nylon jackets is large
and competitive, but the leather jacket market has traditionally been small with only a few
competing manufacturers. During 2012, fashion trendsetters highlighted leather jackets, creating a
ten time increase in the market s demand for leather jackets. Unfortunately, NLJ did not foresee this
trend and had planned sales of only 5,000 leather

The Work And Paintings Of Jacob Lawrence
For my research paper, I will be studying the work and paintings of Jacob Lawrence. Jacob
Lawrence was an American painter and was very highly commended African American artist of
the 20 century. What he is best known for is his Migration Series. He was born in Atlantic City,
New Jersey on September 7, 1917. When he was the age of two his mother deposited him and
his two younger siblings in foster care in Philadelphia after his parents divorced. When he was
thirteen he went to work in New York City and there he went to join his mother. He also spent
fifteen years teaching as a professor at the University of Washington. Lawrence was also widely
known for producing narrative collections such as the Migration Series and War Series. Shortly
after Lawrence had arrived there, he was introduced to art when his mother had enrolled him in
Utopia Children s Center, which then had an after school art program. At the age of 16 he
dropped out of school and took classes at the Harlem Art Workshop where it was taught by
Charles Ashton and he very often visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1937, he won a
scholarship to the American Artist School in New York. When he graduated in 1939 he had
received funding from the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project. By that time, he had
already established his own type of modernism and that is then when he began to create his
narrative series; where he would paint about 30 paintings or more for that one subject. In 1941, he

John Keats Isabella Essay
John Keats Isabella
Love is everywhere, and, even though love is not tangible, people refuse to believe that it exists.
Perhaps their belief in love is what creates love, or perhaps it is the other way around. The greatest
love is found when one least expects it as well as in people one least expects to find it in. Such an
occurrence takes place in Isabella by John Keats. In this poem, two young people, Isabella and
Lorenzo, fall in love, only to find that the sweetest and deadliest love is the love hidden away from
the prying eyes.
Like every marketed love story out there, the poem starts off with two souls who secretly admire
each other, yet are too afraid to admit it. In a society that at that time would quite possibly think ...

The two although so driven by emotions for each other, are calmed by the fact that they are in
each other s presence, for if they were not, they would be thinking of each other. This is also
shown by line 8 that displays their constant presence in each other s minds, even during sleep.
They sleep only to wake up weeping in longing for each other.
The poem continues by narrating how the love of Isabel and Lorenzo, with each day, renews
and becomes stronger. They both seem to find each other in mundane things. Her lute string gave
an echo of his name (190) is one example of this. The love of the two has drenched every action
and every thing in it and almost turned into an obsession. His love for Isabella has led Lorenzo
into hearing and seeing Isabella even before she enters the room or is even in the same
environment with him. These lines best express this growing obsession:
He knew whose gentle hand was at the latch Before the door had given her to his eyes; And from
her chamber window he would catch Her beauty farther than the falcon spies; (17 20)
Seeing Isabella from Lorenzo s point of view, one can truly witness the love that has possessed
him, for he believes that he can sense her and see her farther away than a falcon with acute vision.
Lorenzo is so blinded by love that nothing Isabella does and in her case nothing Lorenzo does, can
be wrong or not magical.

Amrith s Journey
This is a fitting title for the section I read as it helped readers understand Amrith s life and emotions
by concluding the novel with Amrith having many of his problems solved.
In my opinion, a journey is like a rollercoaster filled with ups and downs that only finishes when it
ends. Just like the novel, Amrith experiences many new things that he became quite fond of, even if
the same happiness became his misery. Nevertheless, this was only temporarily as Amrith is naГЇve
and easily jealous, thankfully over time he learned that staying ignorant does not solve his conflicts
and he must make amends on his own.
Prior to the ending, Amrith corrected his issues with his fake family and blood related family,
comprising of Niresh and his dead mother. Finally, Amrith is even rewarded with a gift, that I will
explain later, which seems realistic as opposed to Amrith and Niresh magically falling in love
during the last chapter.
Quick Summary: The last chapter was almost subtle to the point where it felt like a cliff hanger.
The conclusion made it seem as if Selvadurai plans on publishing a sequel, but that is not the case.
Regardless, the last few chapters revealed background knowledge on the mysterious death of
Amrith s parents. It explained how his mother was forced into giving up Amrith, in attempt to cure
Amrith s father from his alcohol problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aiding in the understanding of Amrith and his past, anyways throughout the novel I have always
wondered why a mother such as Amrith s would cease to care for their own children. Now

for Amrith. The only issue was that Amrith has always been naГЇve and interpreted the situation as
a vulgar act, though his reasoning can be justified and

The End Of The Fgyking World Analysis
I m James, I m 17, and I think I m a psychopath the series opens up with this gut wrenching
memorable quote. The End of the F*cking World is a recently added Netflix Original that focuses
on the journey of James and Allison in what seems to be a dark adaptation of Bonnie Clyde. This
rollercoaster of emotions had me on the edge of my seat (my bed) the whole time.
The story is not very clear for the first couple episodes. A lot happens in the first few episodes with
no apparent linear progressive story. The story ties itself back around in a way that is not expected.
The biggest thing that kept me watching through the entire series was the fact that there was not a
dry moment at all. From the time that the episode starts, to the time that the title appears on the
credits screen, continuous jaw dropping moments occur. A big issue that I had with the way the

The use of blood and the graphic content of doing so was very well done. There was a specific
scene where the main girl Allison is being attacked and James stabs the guy. Blood pours from
the guys neck all over the girl. The visuals of this scene were absolutely throw up provoking, it
really displayed the feelings of the scene for all characters. Another issue that I found with the
show, is that the cast is British. The lingo and vocabulary was different than that of my culture, and
I found myself, sometimes not quite understanding what was said. I didn t know any of the cast
members, so it was a little difficult to find a relation between myself and them. The advantage of
having a cast of unknown actors and actresses, is that an audience member doesn t have a relation
to another movie with that character. For example. When viewing Ace Ventura: When Nature
Calls, Jim Carrey portrays a very whacky and goofy individual, but when viewing The Number 23,
I find it much harder to take Jim Carrey seriously in a drama/thriller

Middle-Class Life Narrative
On the way to work, I tried not to think about Jacob being engaged, but it was impossible.
Questions filled my head as I stopped at red lights and stop signs. Could he actually propose to
someone else if we were still legally married? Did I really want to sign the papers when it was
time? Was I going to change my last name back to Blue? Was I going to have to move? I had no
clue, but I knew that I couldn t afford the mortgage on my house by myself and the rest of the
bills. I liked the lifestyle I lived. I drove a Volvo SUV and didn t have a closet full of high dollar
clothes, which was perfectly fine with me because I didn t need all of that. Middle class living
was fine with me. I was satisfied with just having the bills paid. Coming home to a decent house,
in a decent neighborhood was definitely a blessing. I deserved to be happy, with or without Jacob

couldn t wait to see his face when he found out that I had kept up with his every move. As the

Baseball s New Icon In 1927, Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees changed the face of baseball

Behind the outstanding play of Babe Ruth, teammate Lou Gehrig was also performing at an

Similarities Between Nepal And America
There are similarities but more differences between Nepal and America. The differentiating
characteristics between Nepal and America have developed due to a different culture, religion,
educational system, rules and regulations and many more. America has been developing more

example, education that is provided in Nepal tremendously differs from the education provided in
America. But they do have some similarities such as especially in high schools both the countries
have a diverse population of students and nonetheless, both countries value academic gain and
learning performance of students, therefore both countries work hard on giving more priorities to
education that is provided in their country. Although Nepal and America do frame up some

The Effects Of Religious Discrimination In Australia
Religious beliefs are an important aspect of many people s lives. Results of the latest national
census have revealed the religiously diverse nation that Australia has become (ABS 2017). The
religious makeup of Australia has gradually changed over the past 50 years with Hinduism,
Sikhism, Islam and Buddhism all increasingly common beliefs as can be seen in figure 1.
Religious discrimination is defined as the unfavourable treatment of a person because of his or her
religious beliefs. Furthermore, this extends to involve mistreatment of someone due to their
marriage to or association with an individual of a particular religion (EOC 2014; pers. comm.
Cooper 2017).
Whilst Australia s religious diversity begins to grow so too does the concern of the reported
incidents of religious discrimination impacting the lives of people of many different religions in
Australia. It is important to understand the impact this discrimination has in order to address the
issue.
The Effect of Religious Discrimination in Australia
A decade long national study conducted by the University of Western Sydney found that nearly half
of Australians describe themselves as having anti Muslim attitudes (Veiszadeh 2015). Islamophobia
and alike attitudes can have deeply hurtful effects and create considerable fear within religious
communities. It also may serve to erect barriers between different religious communities in
Australia.

Defining The Corporate Veil Its Legal And Ethical...
Defining the Corporate Veil Its Legal and Ethical Boundaries
Introduction
What is a viable reason for the Courts to pierce the Corporate Veil? The economy improves as
businesses expand and increase in revenue. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) dictates that
corporations go above and beyond in taking responsibility for the effect the corporation on has on
the environment and the social wellbeing. With as many people in production, the lower the
employment rate can be expected and the better the economy.
Through research, we will evaluate and define the Corporate Veil, identify legal and ethical
dilemmas and explain legal and ethical business decisions within the business organization.
What is the Corporate Veil?
A Corporation or LLC allows the individual to become a separate entity from the Corporation.
Many business owners and entrepreneur enter a partnership or corporation to protect their
personal assets. This is especially important when you are in the business to expand the business
and market the product/service. The corporate veil is defined as a situation in which courts put
aside limited liability and hold a corporation s shareholders or directors personally liable for the
corporation s actions or debts (LII, n.d.). There is an invisible shield that the veil separates the
corporate entity and provides protection for the people (directors, shareholders, etc.) also known as
the alter ego , and keeps them covered from personal liability behind the

How Did Galileo Contribute To The Scientific Revolution
Galileo was a mathematician, astronomer, physicist, and teacher who played a major role in the
scientific revolution during the Renaissance Era. Galileo put the concepts of experiments, theory
and mathematics together to advance the scientific world. He is often referred to the Father of
Science. Galileo was born February 15, 1564 in Pisa in the Duchy of Florence, Italy. He was the
first of six children born of Giulia Ammannati and Vincenzo Galilei, a musician and music
theorist. His family moved to Florence in 1574 where he started his education at the Camaldolse
Monastery in Vallombrosa. In 1583, Galileo attended the University of Pisa to study medicine; he
was exposed to an Aristotelian view of the world. In 1585, he left the University of Pisa before
earning his degree. After he left, he still continued to study mathematics while he was away from
the university. In 1586, Galileo published his first scientific book, The Little Balance , which
described Archimedes method of finding the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Galileo discovered the principle of inertia. He used the balls rolling on an inclined plane
experiment, which means that the balls on an inclined plan would roll to the same position as
the initial position. Galileo also experimented with free falling objects. Aristotle believed that
when two objects are dropped, the heavier object will hit the ground before the lighter object.
Galileo proved that theory to be incorrect when he dropped objects from the Leaning Tower of
Pisa, and noticed that objects fall to the ground at the same time if air resistance is negligible.
This experiment helped him come up with the concept of acceleration. Galileo also proposed the
first Theory of Relativity and stated that there is no physical way to differentiate between a body
moving at a constant speed and an immobile body. He also attempted to measure the speed of light,
but discovered that light moved to

Ten Little Soldiers Summary
This book is about ten strangers who receive invitations from U.N. Owen to meet at Soldier
Island (off in England), the island that used to be owned by an American who hosted big
parties. So because they thought there would be a huge event, each individual gladly accepts.
Little did they know that no one else was going to be on that island. The guests arrive and meet
each other, except they still have no clue who Mr. or Mrs. U.N. Owen is. As they eat dinner, a
gramophone plays announcing why each guest has been invited, because they all have
committed murder that the law can t touch. As their vacation goes by, each soldier or guest dies
off one by one in a particular manner, their deaths follow those of the poem by Frank Green
titled Ten Little Soldiers or Ten Little Indians. The setting is on Soldier Island. Aan island in
Devon, England. There are no hills or caves, it is just a piece of land with a large house standing
on it. The book takes place at early August. From the eighth to the twelfth. There are so many
main characters because the book was about all ten guests. I think the most important character
is the murderer himself who is given a better description in the end of the book. Justice Wargrave
also known as U.N. Owen. Wargrave was accused of sending Edward Seton to his death because
he found him guilty in court while 9 out of 10 said he was innocent. He grew up with the lust to
kill, and he used the law as a way to send guilty people to their death without

What Are The Causes Of Gas Prices
The US consumed 142 billion gallons of gasoline in 2007 and the tax applied on it is 18. 4 cents
on one gallon. All around the US, there are around 162,000 retail gasoline outlets. With the price
of crude oil hovering around $100 a barrel, it is no wonder that concern is growing about the gas
prices being so high. After all, modern economies are kept moving by this lifeblood. For
instance, in the United States alone personal vehicles consume more than 140 billion gallons of
diesel fuel and gasoline per year. However, there are several factors that contribute to the gas
prices being so high. Given below are a few of them. Increasing Demand for Oil One of the main

Gas Prices affected by Geopolitics and Supply problems Along with the demand for oil rising,
many disruptions to the supply have created bottlenecks. For example, the war in Iraq has
resulted in reducing oil production there, as has also happened in Nigeria due to rebel activity.
The continuing nuclear weapons wrangle with Iran, the government increasing its control over
industry in Russia, and the oil companies being nationalized in Venezuela has given rise to
misgivings about future supplies. In recent years, refining crude oil in the US has also become
more expensive, with experts citing two main reasons for this: congressional mandates resulting
in shifting towards the production of more environmentally clean gasoline blends, and the oil
refineries on the Gulf Coast being devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the year 2005.
In addition, the production of crude oil in America has also become costlier since the places that
have been easiest to drill have largely gone dry. This means that oil companies have to go
increasingly into offshore oil producing areas such as the Gulf of Mexico, which cost much more
to drill in. With oil companies having to access harder to reach locations, which makes it costlier to
produce oil, and simultaneously them being forced to reduce their

The Design Philosophy Of Antoni Rovira I Trias
The Sant Antoni Market is one of the most popular and architecturally brilliant markets in
Barcelona. Originally designed by Antoni Rovira i Trias, an architect and urban planner who
publically favored the destruction of walls in Barcelona and supported free growth in the city.
Trias was a very outspoken architect and called for a change in the way Barcelonashould be
urbanized and he actually won the competition, in 1859, for the design of the expansion of the
city. However, the central Spanish government in Madrid favored Cerda s plan instead.
Nevertheless, Trias continued with his work as an architect and he designed the markets of La
Concepcio in 1885, the Born in 1873, and most importantly for this research paper, the San Antoni
market completed in 1882. Throughout this research paper, I will be analyzing the design
philosophy of Rovira i Trias in his works particularly the Sant Antoni market and how it... Show

the market. The locals were the major users of the market at first because it was right in the
middle of everything so it was easy to get to and it had everything they needed. They would either
use the market or go by the market every day and the sidewalks would be packed with people.
Eventually, the market began seeing some international interest. When people from other countries
would travel to Barcelona they would either stay in the Sant Antoni neighborhood or at least go and

Adoption In Haiti
Haiti Case
In January 2010, Haiti was struck by a massive earthquake, killing thousands of people and
misplacing hundreds.20 A disaster of this kind often leads to the separation of a large group of
people within a community including separating parents from children. In the desolation, chaos
and widespread panic followed, a surge in child exploitation and trafficking was inevitable just as
it was after for the 2004 Indonesia tsunami and how it is constantly happening in Guatemala.21 22

they had any living relatives and the proper documentations.21 22 Just a few days after the

It is not only the involvement of two families but two countries. I think before any international
adoption should proceed, the adoptive parents must make the effort to know the child s
homeland. They must also demonstrate that they are willing to protect the rights of the child
against any threat. I think in that way the child won t lose part of his cultural and ethnic identity.
The sending country should make sure the international adoption is the last option after visiting
the other options such as extended families that might be able to take care of the child or
orphanage agencies or even domestic adoption. Only after these options have been exhausted,
only then international adoption should be considered. Once it is done, they need to assure the
child is guaranteed to have a better future. I don t think it should stop at a simple background
check or to check if the adopters are good citizens. It should go beyond that; like take for instance
the case of Carleton Gajdusek; he was an extraordinary scientist and he received a Nobel prize
for his research. Given his background and how he was perceived in society, Gajdusek was given
the opportunity to bring back with him in the US 56 children from New Guinea. Parents trusted
the scientist and believe that he will offer those kids a higher education. However, he was later
accused of molesting those kids. Shouldn t this be a lesson to society? Therefore, I

Authoritarian Parents And Parenting Styles
Parents use to blabber to their children about following the house rules without explaining to them
why they should follow. They set standards in their child for them to be disciplined in a way
parents would look up to. Spencer Rathus (2014), authoritarian parents have strict guidelines about
what is right and what is wrong and they demand that rules are rules and should be obeyed without
explaining why its implemented. Authoritarian parents always want to be obeyed by their children.
If their children did not obey them, they will receive yelling or punishments. Children coming from
authoritarian parenting are more likely to have low self esteem and low self worth. There are some
instances that these parents that use authoritarian parenting style would put their child on shame if
what they want is not fulfilled. Authoritarian parents are strict and don t usually give their child a
freedom to choose. Kids are forced by their parents. There are students nowadays that are failing
when it comes to their studies. They are not happy to what they are doing because it s not them
who chose for their courses or field that they want to study. Under this parenting style, parents are
not very affectionate to their children. They think that being strict will keep their child disciplines
but perhaps might only lead to rebellion. Thus, authoritarian parents are affecting not just the
behavior of the student but their grades also. It is a purely strict form of

Father-Son Relationships In Death Of A Salesman By Arthur...
Great authors use characterization to further develop a character. In Arthur Miller s play, Death of
a Salesman , an old salesman named Willy pressures his eldest son, Biff, to become a successful
businessman. Through the different father son relationships, Willy s character develops. In the
play, Arthur Miller portrays father son relationships as detrimental to one s success by
characterizing Willy as desperate, demanding, and difficult. Miller s use of characterization in the
play shows how the absence of Willy s father affected him. Willy visits with his long lost brother
Ben, reminiscing on their childhood. Willy, knowing that his father left his familywhen he was only
a young boy, becomes obsessed with the idea of his father. Willy s father abandoned his family
when Ben and Willy were children and all Willy remembers is a man with a big beard, and I was
in Mamma s lap, sitting around a fire, and some kind of high music (203). Even though his father
left, Willy has a positive memory of his father, idolizing him. Through Willy s idolization of his
dad, he begins to develop false hope of having a relationship with his dad. Begging Ben to please
tell about dad , Willy becomes characterized as someone who obsesses with the past and unable to
remain in the present (203). After Willy begs Ben to tell him more about their dad, Ben continues

Reinventing Canada Stephen Harper s Conservative...
By drawing to the discipline of Political Science, the article Reinventing Canada Stephen Harper s
Conservative Revolution by Jordan Michael Smith discusses the power that prime minister
Stephen Harper has in the Canadian Government. First, Smith argues that to some extend Harper
holds a lot of power when it comes to developing foreign policies with other nations. Second, this
article also analyses the privileges the Prime minister has in parliament as the head of state with a
great amount of power. Lastly, some of Smith s points can be criticized for their inconsistent biased
approach, and the fact that some of his accusations on Prime minister Harper are solely based on
his opinion.
The Prime minister of Canada is the head of government and holds the power to control the
international relations Canada has with other countries. Smith states that prime minister Stephen
Harper consistently stakes out hawkish ground on international matters (Smith 22). For example,
Harper has issued a policy which makes Canada the single most supportive nation of Israeli policy

Beowulf Character Analysis
The Great Motivator
(An analysis of Beowulf s Motivations) Are everyone s motivations to become a hero pure? This
question can be hard to answer depending on the hero. Spidermans motivations for saving an
innocent child were pure, but what about people suffering from hero syndrome? A syndrome, that
has become a recent phenomenon. This syndrome makes people seek heroism or recognition by
creating desperate situations that they resolve in order to become a hero. As common as this
syndrome is today, it was not a common syndrome in the tenth century. In the epic poem Beowulf,
translated by Burton Raffel, a mighty warrior named Beowulf fights three terrible monsters.

In Beowulf s lifetime, he killed three terrible monsters. One of these monsters was a great fire
breathing dragon that was hurting his people. The other two monsters were killing people in a
different kingdom. Beowulf is a great warrior and went to assist the other kingdom. Throughout
the epic poem, there is a theme of how will people remember you once you die? This is
important to Beowulf because he needed to set a good example to the warriors, and leave a
legacy for once he was dead. After Beowulf dies in the story, it reads, Crying that no better king
had ever lived, no price so mild, no man so open to his people, so deserving of praise. (867 869)
This is Beowulf s warriors mourning over his death. He had set such a great example to the
warriors on how to be a true warrior that they wept over his death. They have been extremely
mournful since the greatest example, they had ever seen had died. Beowulf s motivation of
becoming an example to the Anglo Saxons before he died through being a great warrior and king
was fulfilled. The example that Beowulf left became a legacy to the Anglo Saxon warriors.
Beowulf was an individual that others aspired to be like. The motivation of Beowulf s to be an
example to all the Anglo Saxon warriors is pure.
Another motivation for Beowulf is that he needed to save his people, even if it meant sacrificing

Advantage Of Liberal Arts College
For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and
creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a
higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the
1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can
give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The
smaller environment that a liberal arts collegeprovides to students is very helpful for a successful
college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates
to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges
are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school
classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for
students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help
when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors.
Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts
colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the
opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and
critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At
most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly
impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is
often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride
themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally
help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in.
Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities,
but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time

Sex Hormones And Its Effect On Gender
Introduction. Gender is complex (Lippa, A R 1994) there are unlimited influences that affect
each and every one of us as we develop as human beings; we are all unique models, shaped not
only by our DNA but also by the physical and emotional environment in which we find ourselves
including our biological genes, sex hormones and ongoing genetic and hormonal changes can be
defined as nature and influence physical development and sexual identity while family
background, class and belief systems, described as nurture affect gender through the
encouragement of social norms and familiar gender roles. (Fausto Sterling, A 2008) Away from
the biological, peer group influences, such as school friends and their families also reinforce
gender stereotypes while in the wider world mass media, from children s TV to advertising
campaigns, government guidelines on education and community structure and various external

Immanuel Kant begins with discussing the idea that feeling happy or sad does not come from the
nature of external things but more of what a person s ability to let things make them feel pleasure
of pain. He stresses that all people are different. Something that may make someone feel upset can
make another happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the sublime and beautiful. He
uses examples to display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of mountains along
with raging storms in which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On the other
hand we can look at grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those
through as a pleasant sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain
beautiful situations can be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be
simple but the beautiful can be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant

Why Parents Should Adopt Children Of Different Origins Are...
1.Those who want to adopt children of different origins are more open minded and in a sense
already have an idea of how they will raise their child. My perspective on the subject is that not
all parents really know what parenting will be like at first, or, if they adopt a child after having
a biological child then they need to be open to how to raise different ethnicities of them.
Considering the shocking amount of children that haven t been adopted in the world, it is quite
depressing that they don t have a home. In the future these transracial adoptions will enable
people to have children to care for, but the issues are laid out. For example, if a white parent
adopts a black child, there will be questions among those who are not very aware of transracial
children. In the future though, it will become more common. So many people have made
changes in America that most people look for the soul of the person. The physical
characteristics don t always matter. However, those who want to sustain each race are more
concerned that they will ruin the uniqueness of the world. In marriages this can be an issue, but
should it really be a concern? Honestly, I don t know what the Lord wants in the world, but he
most indeed gave different characteristics to create diversity. Some people don t like diversity.

Jesus Reflection
Welcome back! Thank you for joining me in going just a little deeper in discovering how Jesus kept
Himself from resentment.
The following passage took place in September or October of 29AD right before the Feast of
Tabernacles (Booths). This feast was a time of celebration and thanksgiving for the harvest. It was
also a time spent remembering God s faithfulness to Israel during their 40 years wandering in the
wilderness after Moses lead their escape from captivity in Egypt.
Please read John 7:1 10.
This passage helps us see how fully human Jesus really was, just as He was fully God. His
Godness was so well hidden for 30 years that even His family, those closest to Him who lived in
the same house with Him for all those years, couldn t see that He was God in flesh form. They ate
together, learned together, worked together, slept in the same rooms, worshipped and celebrated the
same God together. And in all that time, they never saw that He was God. How could that be?
What a mystery!
Like most Jews in that day, Jesus brothers believed that the Messiah would lead the Jews militarily
to freedom from Roman captivity. They determined that He had nothing to offer them once they
realized that Jesus had no intention of causing an insurrection to build an earthly kingdom. Their
blood relationship to Him was not going to gain them any personal advancement, honor and
privilege.
His brothers taunted Jesus to go to Jerusalem for the Feast of Booths. Although

Prince Of Egypt Analysis
While artistic and historical license has been taken, the setting is an element of the movie that
is true to the essence of the Bible, faithfully representing the dry and barren landscape of Egypt,
while the impression of it s geography has been altered. Although the Dreamworks animation,
The Prince of Egypt depicts the setting accurately, the animators of the film have changed
certain aspects of the movie to create interest and relatability. The first difference in the setting
of the book of Exodus and the film The Prince of Egypt is the misrepresentation of the Nile
River. According to the story of Exodus, the biblical account of Moses implies that he floated
across the Nile river safely. However, the film represents the Nile as a busy and dangerous trade
route, filled with large boats and potentially harmful predators. Therefore, by placing Moses in a
dangerous river, it emphasises the need for Moses to be saved from Pharaoh s wrath; while for the
viewer, it creates a sense of tension and suspense. Also, another setting that was altered when
compared to the biblical account of Moses was that of the Pyramids and Sphinx. The movie claims
that the Pyramids and the Sphinx were positioned near the palace; however, according to historical
evidence, these Egyptian statues are located in Giza. In contrast to the movie, the Bible states these
Egyptian statues were found in Thebes. With this change made, the viewers can recall a popular
feature associated with the traditional

It draws the audience in through more moving songs, such as Think of Me. The dialogue has an
overarching modern quality to it, as opposed to the more formal version in the stage and movie
adaptations. The main trio (Phantom, Christine, and Raoul) talk about going to Red Robin, as one
example. They also throw in modern allusions to literature and film (singing machine from Shrek),
as well as Christine using her phone during the roof scene. These changes make it easier for the
audience to connect and find humor within the story. Similar speech patterns follow the characters
throughout the story. Phantom commands and bosses the other characters, which fits his character
profile within the One Act. Raoul has a more scattered and foolish mind. Carlotta uses the most
unfamiliar words, such as ingenue, which denoted a young female character who has endearing

Water Supply As A Critical Infrastructure
One of the basic elements required to sustain life is water. Water is of extreme importance as the
body cannot go without water for more than a few days. Therefore, the supply of water is a
paramount concern amongst society. The availability of water is not the only concern. Another
factor is the purity of the water supply. Imagine the catastrophic sequence of events if the water
supply for a region were to be contaminated with Ebola or any plethora of deadly viruses.
Following such a tragedy to conclusion would leave thousands or possibly millions dead depending
upon the detection and response procedures. It is no surprise that water supply is considered a
critical infrastructure. This paper will discuss these topics in depth to cover what measures are
currently in place to detect water anomalies and response methods to any such contamination,
accidental or intentional. Furthermore, we will look at how water is scrutinized in many different
areas from chlorinelevels to salt levels. The level of scrutiny in water will likely shock anyone, yet
fear will set in at the reality of how vulnerable this water supply system is to attack.
In society we take many things for granted, especially those that would be deemed a basic necessity
such as water. Nevertheless, we give no thought to the consequence of disruption in availability
until it happens. Natural catastrophes have recently reminded us of how vital these necessities are
that we take for granted.

Poor And Developing Countries All Over The World Have...
Poor and developing countries all over the world have health problems and are in major need of
medical help. Sending aid to the countries seems like a logical solution to the problem, and can
have benefits if used properly. Medical aid is any donation or service to help improve a situation
by an organization or donor government. Eran Bendavid, an assistant professor in the Division of
General MedicineDisciplines at Stanford University found that Foreign aid for health care is
directly linked to an increase in life expectancy and a decrease in child mortality in developing
countries. Family planning services have been known to give women social confidence and educate
them on contraception methods. When more developed countries support the poorer areas it builds
strategic alliances between governments. Although donated medical aid appears flawless and
successful, some attempts at solutions have not been as prosperous. Most donations of medical
technologies have proved to be inefficient, and lead to clutter and electrical problems in hospitals.
Another problem is using more land for medical development and that can lead to major
environmental problems. Even though governments in these poor countries are trying to help, they
are many times in debt and have to rely on other countries for medical aid. Medical aid can help
improve countries overall health, but to what extent are the countries actually being helped?
Organizations try to help developing countries by sending

  • 10. John Keats Isabella Essay John Keats Isabella Love is everywhere, and, even though love is not tangible, people refuse to believe that it exists. Perhaps their belief in love is what creates love, or perhaps it is the other way around. The greatest love is found when one least expects it as well as in people one least expects to find it in. Such an occurrence takes place in Isabella by John Keats. In this poem, two young people, Isabella and Lorenzo, fall in love, only to find that the sweetest and deadliest love is the love hidden away from the prying eyes. Like every marketed love story out there, the poem starts off with two souls who secretly admire each other, yet are too afraid to admit it. This is also shown by line 8 that displays their constant presence in each other s minds, even during sleep. They sleep only to wake up weeping in longing for each other. The poem continues by narrating how the love of Isabel and Lorenzo, with each day, renews and becomes stronger. They both seem to find each other in mundane things. Her lute string gave an echo of his name (190) is one example of this. The love of the two has drenched every action and every thing in it and almost turned into an obsession. His love for Isabella has led Lorenzo into hearing and seeing Isabella even before she enters the room or is even in the same environment with him. These lines best express this growing obsession: He knew whose gentle hand was at the latch Before the door had given her to his eyes; And from her chamber window he would catch Her beauty farther than the falcon spies; (17 20) Seeing Isabella from Lorenzo s point of view, one can truly witness the love that has possessed him, for he believes that he can sense her and see her farther away than a falcon with acute vision. Amrith s Journey This is a fitting title for the section I read as it helped readers understand Amrith s life and emotions by concluding the novel with Amrith having many of his problems solved. In my opinion, a journey is like a rollercoaster filled with ups and downs that only finishes when it ends. Just like the novel, Amrith experiences many new things that he became quite fond of, even if the same happiness became his misery. Nevertheless, this was only temporarily as Amrith is naГЇve and easily jealous, thankfully over time he learned that staying ignorant does not solve his conflicts and he must make amends on his own. Prior to the ending, Amrith corrected his issues with his fake family and blood related family, comprising of Niresh and his dead mother. Finally, Amrith is even rewarded with a gift, that I will explain later, which seems realistic as opposed to Amrith and Niresh magically falling in love during the last chapter. Quick Summary: The last chapter was almost subtle to the point where it felt like a cliff hanger. The conclusion made it seem as if Selvadurai plans on publishing a sequel, but that is not the case. The End of the F*cking World is a recently added Netflix Original that focuses on the journey of James and Allison in what seems to be a dark adaptation of Bonnie Clyde. This rollercoaster of emotions had me on the edge of my seat (my bed) the whole time. The story is not very clear for the first couple episodes. A lot happens in the first few episodes with no apparent linear progressive story. The story ties itself back around in a way that is not expected. The biggest thing that kept me watching through the entire series was the fact that there was not a dry moment at all. All around the US, there are around 162,000 retail gasoline outlets. With the price of crude oil hovering around $100 a barrel, it is no wonder that concern is growing about the gas prices being so high. After all, modern economies are kept moving by this lifeblood. For instance, in the United States alone personal vehicles consume more than 140 billion gallons of diesel fuel and gasoline per year. However, there are several factors that contribute to the gas prices being so high. Gas Prices affected by Geopolitics and Supply problems Along with the demand for oil rising, many disruptions to the supply have created bottlenecks. For example, the war in Iraq has resulted in reducing oil production there, as has also happened in Nigeria due to rebel activity. The continuing nuclear weapons wrangle with Iran, the government increasing its control over industry in Russia, and the oil companies being nationalized in Venezuela has given rise to misgivings about future supplies. In recent years, refining crude oil in the US has also become more expensive, with experts citing two main reasons for this: congressional mandates resulting in shifting towards the production of more environmentally clean gasoline blends, and the oil refineries on the Gulf Coast being devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the year 2005. In addition, the production of crude oil in America has also become costlier since the places that have been easiest to drill have largely gone dry. This means that oil companies have to go increasingly into offshore oil producing areas such as the Gulf of Mexico, which cost much more to drill in. With oil companies having to access harder to reach locations, which makes it costlier to produce oil, and simultaneously them being forced to reduce their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Design Philosophy Of Antoni Rovira I Trias The Sant Antoni Market is one of the most popular and architecturally brilliant markets in Barcelona. Originally designed by Antoni Rovira i Trias, an architect and urban planner who publically favored the destruction of walls in Barcelona and supported free growth in the city. Trias was a very outspoken architect and called for a change in the way Barcelonashould be urbanized and he actually won the competition, in 1859, for the design of the expansion of the city. However, the central Spanish government in Madrid favored Cerda s plan instead. Nevertheless, Trias continued with his work as an architect and he designed the markets of La Concepcio in 1885, the Born in 1873, and most importantly for this research paper, the San Antoni market completed in 1882. I think before any international adoption should proceed, the adoptive parents must make the effort to know the child s homeland. They must also demonstrate that they are willing to protect the rights of the child against any threat. I think in that way the child won t lose part of his cultural and ethnic identity. The sending country should make sure the international adoption is the last option after visiting the other options such as extended families that might be able to take care of the child or orphanage agencies or even domestic adoption. Only after these options have been exhausted, only then international adoption should be considered. Once it is done, they need to assure the child is guaranteed to have a better future. I don t think it should stop at a simple background check or to check if the adopters are good citizens. It should go beyond that; like take for instance the case of Carleton Gajdusek; he was an extraordinary scientist and he received a Nobel prize for his research. Given his background and how he was perceived in society, Gajdusek was given the opportunity to bring back with him in the US 56 children from New Guinea. They set standards in their child for them to be disciplined in a way parents would look up to. Spencer Rathus (2014), authoritarian parents have strict guidelines about what is right and what is wrong and they demand that rules are rules and should be obeyed without explaining why its implemented. Authoritarian parents always want to be obeyed by their children. If their children did not obey them, they will receive yelling or punishments. Children coming from authoritarian parenting are more likely to have low self esteem and low self worth. There are some instances that these parents that use authoritarian parenting style would put their child on shame if what they want is not fulfilled. Authoritarian parents are strict and don t usually give their child a freedom to choose. Kids are forced by their parents. There are students nowadays that are failing when it comes to their studies. They are not happy to what they are doing because it s not them who chose for their courses or field that they want to study. Through the different father son relationships, Willy s character develops. In the play, Arthur Miller portrays father son relationships as detrimental to one s success by characterizing Willy as desperate, demanding, and difficult. Miller s use of characterization in the play shows how the absence of Willy s father affected him. Willy visits with his long lost brother Ben, reminiscing on their childhood. Willy, knowing that his father left his familywhen he was only a young boy, becomes obsessed with the idea of his father. By drawing to the discipline of Political Science, the article Reinventing Canada Stephen Harper s Conservative Revolution by Jordan Michael Smith discusses the power that prime minister Stephen Harper has in the Canadian Government. First, Smith argues that to some extend Harper holds a lot of power when it comes to developing foreign policies with other nations. Second, this article also analyses the privileges the Prime minister has in parliament as the head of state with a great amount of power. This is important to Beowulf because he needed to set a good example to the warriors, and leave a legacy for once he was dead. After Beowulf dies in the story, it reads, Crying that no better king had ever lived, no price so mild, no man so open to his people, so deserving of praise. • 31. Advantage Of Liberal Arts College For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment that a liberal arts collegeprovides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why Parents Should Adopt Children Of Different Origins Are... 1.Those who want to adopt children of different origins are more open minded and in a sense already have an idea of how they will raise their child. My perspective on the subject is that not all parents really know what parenting will be like at first, or, if they adopt a child after having a biological child then they need to be open to how to raise different ethnicities of them. Considering the shocking amount of children that haven t been adopted in the world, it is quite depressing that they don t have a home. In the future these transracial adoptions will enable people to have children to care for, but the issues are laid out. For example, if a white parent adopts a black child, there will be questions among those who are not very aware of transracial children. In the future though, it will become more common. So many people have made changes in America that most people look for the soul of the person. The physical characteristics don t always matter. However, those who want to sustain each race are more concerned that they will ruin the uniqueness of the world. In marriages this can be an issue, but should it really be a concern? • 37. Jesus Reflection Welcome back! Thank you for joining me in going just a little deeper in discovering how Jesus kept Himself from resentment. The following passage took place in September or October of 29AD right before the Feast of Tabernacles (Booths). This feast was a time of celebration and thanksgiving for the harvest. It was also a time spent remembering God s faithfulness to Israel during their 40 years wandering in the wilderness after Moses lead their escape from captivity in Egypt. Please read John 7:1 10. This passage helps us see how fully human Jesus really was, just as He was fully God. His Godness was so well hidden for 30 years that even His family, those closest to Him who lived in the same house with Him for all those years, couldn t see that He was God in flesh form. They ate together, learned together, worked together, slept in the same rooms, worshipped and celebrated the same God together. And in all that time, they never saw that He was God. How could that be? What a mystery! Like most Jews in that day, Jesus brothers believed that the Messiah would lead the Jews militarily to freedom from Roman captivity. They determined that He had nothing to offer them once they realized that Jesus had no intention of causing an insurrection to build an earthly kingdom. Their blood relationship to Him was not going to gain them any personal advancement, honor and privilege. His brothers taunted Jesus to go to Jerusalem for the Feast of Booths. Although ... Prince Of Egypt Analysis While artistic and historical license has been taken, the setting is an element of the movie that is true to the essence of the Bible, faithfully representing the dry and barren landscape of Egypt, while the impression of it s geography has been altered. Although the Dreamworks animation, The Prince of Egypt depicts the setting accurately, the animators of the film have changed certain aspects of the movie to create interest and relatability. The first difference in the setting of the book of Exodus and the film The Prince of Egypt is the misrepresentation of the Nile River. According to the story of Exodus, the biblical account of Moses implies that he floated across the Nile river safely. However, the film represents the Nile as a busy and dangerous trade route, filled with large boats and potentially harmful predators. Therefore, by placing Moses in a dangerous river, it emphasises the need for Moses to be saved from Pharaoh s wrath; while for the viewer, it creates a sense of tension and suspense. Also, another setting that was altered when compared to the biblical account of Moses was that of the Pyramids and Sphinx. The movie claims that the Pyramids and the Sphinx were positioned near the palace; however, according to historical evidence, these Egyptian statues are located in Giza. In contrast to the movie, the Bible states these Egyptian statues were found in Thebes. With this change made, the viewers can recall a popular feature associated with the traditional ... Water is of extreme importance as the body cannot go without water for more than a few days. Therefore, the supply of water is a paramount concern amongst society. The availability of water is not the only concern. Another factor is the purity of the water supply. Imagine the catastrophic sequence of events if the water supply for a region were to be contaminated with Ebola or any plethora of deadly viruses. Following such a tragedy to conclusion would leave thousands or possibly millions dead depending upon the detection and response procedures. It is no surprise that water supply is considered a critical infrastructure. This paper will discuss these topics in depth to cover what measures are currently in place to detect water anomalies and response methods to any such contamination, accidental or intentional. Furthermore, we will look at how water is scrutinized in many different areas from chlorinelevels to salt levels. The level of scrutiny in water will likely shock anyone, yet fear will set in at the reality of how vulnerable this water supply system is to attack. Sending aid to the countries seems like a logical solution to the problem, and can have benefits if used properly. Medical aid is any donation or service to help improve a situation by an organization or donor government. Eran Bendavid, an assistant professor in the Division of General MedicineDisciplines at Stanford University found that Foreign aid for health care is directly linked to an increase in life expectancy and a decrease in child mortality in developing countries. Family planning services have been known to give women social confidence and educate them on contraception methods. When more developed countries support the poorer areas it builds strategic alliances between governments. Although donated medical aid appears flawless and successful, some attempts at solutions have not been as prosperous. Most donations of medical technologies have proved to be inefficient, and lead to clutter and electrical problems in hospitals. Another problem is using more land for medical development and that can lead to major environmental problems. Even though governments in these poor countries are trying to help, they are many times in debt and have to rely on other countries for medical aid.
