Charles Dickens Great Expectations
Many people say that writing is nothing more than a way of the author to express himself. This is true
in many cases but none as much as in Great Expectations. In many ways the narrator/protagonist Pip
is Charles Dickens in body and mind. While there are many differences between the story and Charles
Dickens life there remains one constant. This constant is the way Pip as the narrator feels, because
these feelings are Dickens s own feelings about the life he lead. Since Great Expectations was written
towards end of Charles Dickens life, he was wiser and able to make out the mistakes and regrets of his
life, and Pip experiences them all. While Great Expectations is seen as a tragic book not many people
really think about where these themes come from, and when the book is read with the knowledge of
Dickens life it truly reveals new meanings.
Charles John Huffam Dickens born February 7th, 1812, was born a poor man. When Charles Dickens
was 12 his father John Dickens was sent to jail because he had too much debt. Since Charles father
was sent to jail Charles had to drop out of school and join a shoe blacking company. When Charles no
longer had to work he felt betrayed by his parents for making him do what was their rightful job,
taking care of the family. He thought that the second he started working for that company his youth
was gone. Once his father had received the family inheritance Charles was able to go to school again
and his father was released from jail. When

Case Study Chan Ke Tong
1.
According to my point of view I think there are main three issues that was result in getting a very few
requests for the company. According to the given data I think the 1st reason is that not having an
enough communication with the managers in the other countries. Chan Kee Tong is a person who was
newly recruited from the company. He hasn t enough communication with the people in the company.
Some of the managers he didn t even see as well as he didn t even talk. So there is a poor
communication between Chan Kee Tong the other managers.
So due to that the managers wouldn t trust or know much about the plans of Chan Kee Tong it would
be a main reason for not getting a good answers from the managers.
The second reasons than that they didn t get many replies because Chan Kee Tong is a newly hired
recruiter he doesn t have any connection with the managers of the other countries. He even didn t talk
with them. Though the assistant of the Chan Kee Tong is uneducated, he is having a greater
knowledge about the company as well as the people in there. He knows the way that the company will

The Way Forward for Sainsbury
The Way Forward for Sainsbury Sainsbury has had a long history of business success, something that
it can continue for the foreseeable future if it maintains a cohesive business strategy, a strategy that is
rooted in a larger cohesive corporate vision. This paper examines some of the key factors that the
company must consider to be the foundation for a prosperous and profitable future. This analysis
demonstrates that Sainsbury s executives understand that not only does the company have to plan and
then put into effect good initiatives and good policies, but they have to sell the company s image as
one that its customers want to share. Sainsbury s sells itself successfully by (also successfully) selling
itself as a representative and purveyor of British values. The following analysis (including the
scorecard at the end) provides an overall explanation and justification for the measures suggested that
Sainsbury should take to achieve these indicators A content analysis of Sainsbury s annual reports as
well as statements made by Chief Executive Justin King reveals what the company plans for its future
in a way that is tacit, even coded. This should hardly be surprising: In nearly every act of human
verbal or written communication there are nuances of meaning that go unsaid but that can nevertheless
act as important signals between the parties and that can serve as equally as important as the explicit
messages. These tacit meanings can occur at the highest seats of power,

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint and How the Stages of...
More and more people are coming to realize the negative impact our actions within the current global
take make waste economic model are having on the environment. Environmental movements that
advocate against the earth s continued degradation instruct individuals, communities, and governments
that it is critical to take action now. According to Prochaska and DiClement, the only way to increase
the efficacy of any given call to action, however, is if the suggested change in behaviour is appropriate
to where a person is currently at within the Transtheoretical Stages of Change model. Behaviour
modification, from day to day habits to a more fundamental lifestyle overhaul, is often challenging to
the point of failure. This happens because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Second Stage Contemplation
As individuals begin to discover how their actions negatively impact the environment, mindfulness
and dissonance grows. If this dissonance is complimented by a sense of empowered self efficacy, and
the realization that change brings benefits, these ingredients often result in the progression to the
contemplation stage. At this stage, for example, the suggestion to eat organic, locally grown and
produced food is a more appropriate call to action. The contemplation stage is marked by
ambivalency, but the willingness exists to weigh the pros and cons, and the idea will not be
immediately dismissed as an inconvenient expense. People in this stage need to know that there
actions make a difference. Education and an unconditional support system can help a person progress
through this stage.
The Third Stage Preparation
Once people conclude that the benefits of change outweigh the inconveniences, they are likely to
progress to the preparation stage. People in this position believe global warming is real, for instance,
and will begin to feel deeply about their own contributory actions. Individuals in this stage are ready
to work out the logistics of incorporating ethical eating into their day to day lives. Abstaining from
fast food, buying only organic

Roman Polanski s Memoirs Of A Pianist
Roman Polanski s heartfelt and honorable interpretation of the true horrors of the Holocaust, (based on
the memoir of famed Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman,) appears at face value as just another
blockbuster period piece. Yet it offers so much more. Polanski expertly crafts filmmaking artistry with
true life, allowing the viewer to be completely immersed in a time previously known to them only
through history books. Upon the first viewing I was restless, overwhelmed and unsuspecting of the
sheer weight of what I had previously considered to be another film pandering to an audience of mock
sympathy. By watching it a second time, I was fully capable of appreciating the stunning and
emotionally demanding story of one man s (at times, reluctant) ... Show more content on

One scene in particular achieved this goal completely. During one of the final scenes of the film,
Szpilman is in hiding, and attempts to open a can of soup. He creeps out of his hiding spot in an old
abandoned house to find something to open the can with. As he attempts to pry the can open, he falls
directly in the sight of an SS Officer. Instead of shooting him, the officer asks Szpilman a few
questions, resulting in Szpilman playing piano for the Nazi. As tense and emotional as this scene is to
watch, the audience also receives a moment of joy. Polanski uses a high angle to give the audience the
impression that they too are looking down on Szpilman as he plays the piano, making him look even
weaker and trapped than he already was. However, the camera angle then alternates, showing the
audience the Nazi officer and Szpilman on the same level, allowing us a brief moment of tenderness in
an otherwise violent and depressing world. As Szpilman plays, direct sunlight illuminates him,
highlighting the pain and anguish written on his face. (2:01 2:07) This scene is certainly romanticized
from the original version as told to us by Szpilman. In his memoir, he declares, Do what you like to
me. I m not leaving from here. (Page 177) It is hard to distinguish truth from fiction in this account.
Did Szpilman really speak with such courage, with such

Bleachers, by John Grisham Essay
Books read by adolescents contain both positive and negative values. Bleachers, by John Grisham is
one book that contains many positive values. This book is about high school all American Neely
Crenshaw, who was probably the best quarterback ever to play for the legendary Messina Spartans.
Fifteen years have gone by since those glory days, and Neely has come home to Messina to bury
Coach Eddie Rake, the man who molded the Spartans into an unbeatable football dynasty. It is well
known that books read by adolescents are somewhat inappropriate in certain ways such as language
and the types of actions done by the characters. Some books consist of drugs, sex, and violence which

Bleachers, by John Grisham contains many positive values and is very appropriate for adolescents to
read. Bleachers, is about a high school all American Nelly Crenshaw who was the best quarterback
ever to play for the Messina Spartans. The story is based around on the impending death of the
Messina Spartans football coach Eddie Rake, who is one of the most victorious coaches in high school
football history, Rake is both feared and loved by his players and by a town that relishes his 13 state
titles. The protagonist of the novel is Neely Crenshaw, who is a former Rake All American whose NFL
prospects ended quickly after a cheap shot to the knees. In the book, Neely has just returned home for
the first time in years to join his former teammates to sit in the bleachers and wait for the dimming
field lights to signal his passing. During this time they replay the old games, relive the glory days and
try and decide whether they love or hate their former coach, Eddie Rake. This trip back for Neely is
more meaningful as he has to forgive himself as well as his coach and try and rekindle his love for his
ex girlfriend he abandoned long ago so he can get on with his life. It is obvious to see the positive
values and appropriate nature of Bleachers.
It is obvious to see why Bleachers has many positive values, one is the fact that Neely is trying to

Characters In Godspell
Godspell is a musical that is not based in any specific time, but is a brief condensed version of the
New Testament. Specifically related to the Works of Jesus and his followers while he was on earth.
The setting is up to the director to decide. In this case it is set in the highline of New York City. In
previous productions it has been based in a circus setting which can lead the actors to portray a more
sophomoric humor approach to acting. In this show most of the actors don t shy that far from that style
but they tone it down. One thing that does re occur throughout the show is a kind of double acting. As
they portray actors acting the parables. A kind of puppet acting also occurs as there will be a narrator

His character was determined to help these people understand the ways of God and to lead them to
heaven. His objectives came out when the script would pull lines from the Bible. However, they
would be hidden when he too would be an actor of the parables. This is to be expected as his character
is then not meant to draw away from the story itself. His objective is cliche only from the standpoint
of he is a teacher so obviously his objective is to teach and reach out to the lives of others. There is not
a way to break that however because he is Jesus, and that is what his purpose actually was while he
was on earth. His actions would always keep the other characters in check. As if he was a teacher
keeping his class in check. Ultimately the character gives himself up as a sacrifice and dies. However
the actions of this show portray it that he accepts that he is going to be killed and there isn t anything
he can do about it. There is no clear actions that gives the audience faith that he could actually stop
this from happening to himself. The entire cast has a strong chemistry. And is needed in this show as
there are many cases where there are simultaneous things going on that require actions to line up with
lines of others. He does not exactly keep the cast together like his character probably should but he
does specifically lead the character of Judas in the song All for the Best. He has very clearly mastered

The Ekkyklema Used In Greek Theatre
Throughout the history of Greek Theatre, the ekkyklema is considered as one of the most important
devices used in Greek tragedies. Literally, translated to thing that rolls out (didaskalia.net), it was
presented to the Attic Stage during the 5th century and served an important function of displaying
dead bodies of fallen characters. The ekkyklema proved to be a crucial component to the stage
environment because it provided directors a mean of clarifying the action (britannica.com). In Greek
theatre, violence was forbidden to be acted out, so directors needed to create a new medium in which
the act of killing could be implied. With the help of the ekkyklema, scenes that included death could
now be carried out with ease. Because, these killings were not shown, this had introduced a new level
of tension and anticipation to Greek audiences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, the device was primarily shown in tragedies, it has made other appearances into comedy as
well. An example of an ekkyklema that was featured in this genre was Aristophanes Old Comedy. His
works frequently made fun of the stage machinery and drew deliberate attention to it, but was an
accepted convention in performances of tragedy (didaskalia.net). Commonly found in the Greek
tragedy, the ekkyklema is used after the murder of Agamemnon in the first play of Aeschylus Oresteia,
when the king s butchered body is wheeled out in a grand display for all to see. It was later brought
out a second time to show the deaths of Aegisthus and Clytemnestra

Solomon Asch Conformity Experiment
The Solomon Asch s Conformity Study is an experiment where a standard line is shown to an
audience along with three other lines: one will be longer, one will be shorter, one will be the exact
same line as the standard. The goal is to identify which is the same line A, B, or C and the answer was
always obvious. The task is simple, but a person will be the only real participant in the room while the
seven others are confederates who were pretending to be participants and who were trying to use
social pressure to get the participant to conform with the majority group. For example, if the real
answer was A, the confederates would try to throw off the real participant by saying the answer is B.
With the majority saying B is the correct answer, the real participant would agree with them, even
knowing the answer is wrong because everyone else didn t say A.
The experiment was tested on 50 male students from Swarthmore College, and on average, about 32%
of the participants conformed to the incorrect answer with the majority. ... Show more content on

In the control group, with no pressure to conform to confederates, less than 1% of participants gave
the wrong answer. (McLeod, S. A. 2008). An interview was later given, and everyone said they felt
like they gave the correct answer for all, fearing they would be the outsider even though they know
they gave the wrong answers. This revealed the power of a group where the odd one out would give in
and agree with the majority in order to fit in. However, this destroys a person s judgement. Asch s
response to the results was that The tendency to conformity in our society is so strong that reasonably
intelligent and well meaning young people are willing to call white black. This is a matter of concern.
It raises questions about our ways of education and about the values that guide our conduct. (Solomon

The Role the Education System Has as an Agent of...
The education system has impacted children in many ways and has helped to shape the future leaders
of society. In this essay my focus will be from the Conflict/ Marxist perspective, which proposes that
the education system is structured in such a way that some persons will benefit from it more than
others and that it is intended to cause social reproduction of inequality. Sociologists and economists
Herbert Gintis and Samuel Bowles argue (as cited in Haralambos and Holborn, 2004 p. 698) that there
is a close correspondence between the social relationships which govern personal interaction in the
work place and the social relationships of the education system. The education system in today s
society is considered one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ballantine and Hammack. (2009) critics argue that schools are reproducing social classes
and maintaining the social hierarchy with education policies and practices that select students for
higher track. Yet some policies such as testing give the appearance of equality. This argument can be
used to relate to the situation of the education system present in the Antiguan society, where it is
training and placing persons in society. The Common Entrance Exam (CEE) and the Caribbean
Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) are forms of testing for both primary and secondary students
to display their intelligence and have the opportunity to lay the ground work to become a successful
individual later on in life. It is said to be a fair form of testing where no matter your social class in
society you have equal opportunity to, in the case of the Common Entrance Exam, get the best form of
secondary education, and with the CSEC, gain a tertiary level education. However, this concept of
equal opportunity through the policy of testing in this instance is somewhat flawed, since persons who
are in the Upper class who have the means and the capital through which to access the best form of
education often do. These persons are often able to acquire the necessary help for their children to do
well in the Common Entrance Exams and therefore get the best form of education, or they decide to

At least one of the values used for these components is an estimate. This means that the WACC value
will vary depending on the estimate. 4. We estimated the project net present value to be $19,125,000
without tweaking any of the financial assumptions in the capital request form. So to make the net
present value positive we would have to change something. We first started by adding 10% to the
utilization for every year. This alone didn t make a huge difference so we had to additionally lower the
hourly wage to $18.19/hr. This gave us a net present value of about $35,000. This seems unreasonable
or at the very least unfair to lower each worker s hourly wage while increasing the workload. The
second way we tried to get the net present value positive was by just decreasing the hourly wage of
each employee from $20/hr to $16.02/hr. This gave us a net present value of about $33,000. This
seems like a more reasonable solution, but it is dangerous because it could cause workers to quit.
Therefore we wouldn t recommend this project. Both solutions that lead to a positive net present value
are too extreme and risky. Also this only leads to a positive net present value, not an extremely
profitable one. This project shouldn t be undertaken.

In The Trouble with Talent , Kathy Seal, who frequently writes about children and education in

aptitude could breed children to become artful people and waste many of American children s
potential. At the beginning of this article, Seal told about an experiment of Jim Stigler, who was a

Japanese kids still kept on their work. Stigler stated that Asian education focused to ... Show more

Indeed, from this article we recognize that the children will gain success when everybody encourages
their effort and shouldn t emphasize inborn talent. Effort counts more than innate ability.

Asians more often believed that studying makes a person smarter, I was reminded my own personal
beliefs on intelligence and I realized that I have thought people could get smart by exerting effort
since I was in the last year of elementary school in Vietnam. Therefore, I empathized with Seal s
attitude that success and achievement are a result of working hard. I could remember that I got this
attitude when I was in an important final exam which decided where my middle school was in the next
year that depended on my score. In this exam, the math test was an extremely difficult test for every

Religious Beliefs Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church s current pope, Pope Francis, once said, A good Catholic meddles in politics,
offering the best of himself, so that those who govern can govern. But what is the best that we can
offer to those who govern? Prayer! (Pope Francis, 2013). Catholics are approximately half of the
number of Christians, numbering more than one billion members. This number makes it one of the
largest religions in the world. In 2003, the Catholic population in the United States was 63.4 million
people (Roman Catholic Church, 2017). The Catholic Church s basic beliefs influence their
demographics, party affiliation, stances on different political issues, and involvement in American
politics.
I attended a service at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At this service,
politics were not directly mentioned, but Father Darin Schmidt said a few interesting words. In a
message to the congregation he said, love unconditionally, without limits. He also said, peace, liberty,
and justice for all. One might recognize liberty and justice for all from our nation s Pledge of
Allegiance, and this quote displays a sense of patriotism in the church. These quotes are helpful in
understanding the Catholic Church s ideologies. During prayer, they mentioned a few current issues
including support for the military, the Las Vegas shooting, refugees, and victims of natural disasters.
Besides these few observations, the service did not express any straightforward political

I think The Hunger Games was supposed to make a political message. The movie has the wealthier

I think the people in the districts represent the common people in our nation. The movie shows how
the upper class does not have to deal with some of the hard times the lower classes have to go through.
An example of this is all the extra food in the capital, but people in the districts were starving and
struggling to find food. The people who lived in the capital kept all of the extra food, even though
there were people who desperately needed it. I think the Hunger Games in the movie are a

Persuasive Essay On Safe Spaces
In a recent poll a whopping 36 percent of students felt that safe spaces were necessary on college
campuses according to LendEDU, a student loan organization. Safes spaces provide an outlet for
many who may take offense to material that negatively impacts a student s emotions. Some students
who have had traumas in their life take security in safe spaces due to the guarantee of not being in
harm s way of the lessons they may find offensive. In a world that is not censored from sensitive
material in every location it is apprehensive to put trust into a specific location for security. Although
many would agree safe spaces provide an outlet of security for those who have experienced traumas in
their life, an alternative compromise should be in place to allow students to explore the world from
different perspectives, learn to handle the tribulation of opposition, and to prepare students to
overcome adversity outside of the classroom. Safe spaces on college campuses are defined as a place
or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be
exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm therefor, it
is wise to find comfort in the ideological sense of security a student would likely find in a safe space.
One of the most captivating reasons students believe in safe spaces is because they allow an outlet for
many who may have had traumas in their life. Many find it appealing that they have a

The Age Of Innocence By Edith Wharton And The Waste Land
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton and The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot has similar recurring
imagery. Both literary works portray two women in a way and compare these two women characters.
Wharton s portrayal of gender in the society of Old New York illustrates the perfect woman through
May Welland along with the imperfect woman through Ellen Olenska, whereas in the poem The Waste
Land by T.S. Eliot, the role and sexuality of women is shown through the juxtaposition of two women
in the section A Game of Chess.
In The Age of Innocence, Edith Wharton portrays gender through the juxtaposition of Ellen and May.

Newland fears that May wont be able to see any of the world even if she opens her eyes. Just like the
cavefish isn t able to see after living in darkness for years, May might not be able to see after living in
the shadow of society. Newland is attempting to draw May away from her innocent personality and
open her eyes to the world. He fears that May will end up like a copy of her mother, who perfectly
portrays the role of a wife in society. Newland wants more out of May, not just the perfect housewife.
Ellen Olenska portrays the other side of the juxtaposition of women in The Age of Innocence. She is
more individualistic than May and her experiences outside of the United States such as her failed
marriage in Europe show that Ellen is a woman who is independent. For this reason, Ellen fails to
grasp the social code once she enters the society of Old New York. A great example comes at the
beginning of the novel when Ellen enters the opera in clothing that is provocative for the event. When

Women s Suffrage During The World
Women s suffrage in Germany 1918, sexism throughout the world, the Holocaust, and several
challenges plagued a woman throughout her entire life. Edith Stein faced never ending difficulties due
to her gender and religious affiliations. Analyzing her theologies through the course of her life and
how they changed along with sexism and anti Semitism pressures aid in giving Stein all the respect
she has earned. It can be rather surprising when individuals learn what Edith Stein s religious
upbringing and initial theologies were compared to her mature adult life. Stein was raised by her
mother as an Ashkenazi Jew and was even born on the Jewish Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. Stein
writes, Her mother always laid great emphasis on the fact that her youngest was born on the holy day
commemorating the offering of sacrifices for the sins of the nation (Hill 192). This deep affection
would cause problems later for Stein, when she converts to Catholicism. However, as a child, the
family practiced Judaism very liberally. They attended synagogue on the holy days, obeyed some of
the dietary laws (it is unknown if they kept kosher), the family business stayed open on Sabbath, and
their prayers were spoken in their native language, German, rather than the traditional Hebrew.
Because Stein was a girl, she was given a minimal education and had limited understanding on Jewish
beliefs about salvation. Hill believes that this contributed to her leaving behind her Jewish roots and

Italian Unification Italy 1930 s
Italians have been an intragyral part of American history since the founding of the country and its
exploration of the New World. Italian immigration surged from the 1870 s to the 1930 s due to few
economic opportunities and political suppression in Italy. Italy officially became a country in 1861 but
before unification Italy consisted of small city states that were governed by small clans.
Nationalization created a disproportion of wealth from the industrialized north to the rural
overcrowded agricultural areas in the south. Over taxation by the Italian government made it hard for
rural southern Italians to own land or get ahead. Since the Civil war in the United States left a need for
cheap labor, this was a perfect opportunity to many southern

My Paper On Is Educational Psychology
The topic pertinent to psychology that i chose to do my paper on is educational psychology.
Educational psychology is the study of how humans learn and retain knowledge, primarily in
educational settings like classrooms. This branch not only involves just the learning process of early
childhood and adolescence but it also involves the social, emotional, and cognitive learning processes
that are involved in humans throughout their entire lifespan. Educational psychology combines
numerous amounts of other branches of psychology, including: developmental psychology, behavioral
psychology, and cognitive psychology. Educational psychology is an approximately new subfield that
has had a huge amount of growth in recent years. The four major perspectives in educational
psychology are: Behavioral perspective, developmental perspective, cognitive perspective, and the
constructivist approach. The behavioral perspective proposes that all behaviors are learned through
conditioning. An example of this would be a teacher handing out tickets for participating in class or
good behavior that can later be exchanged for candy or toys. The developmental perspective suggest
how children obtain new skills and knowledge as they develop. An example of this is Jean Piaget s
distinguished stages of cognitive development. The cognitive perspective has become much more
acclaimed in recent decades, mostly because it suggest how things such as memories, emotions,
motivations, and beliefs influence

Symbolism In The White Heron
The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature rather
than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed ornithologist, a
scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can show him the White
Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of
the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male
dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be
represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one
climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron
flew (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is
climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on
this obstacle up and up the tree, and continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest
begin to sing louder and louder as Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of
the tree or the climax of her new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to
tell the boy of the path to find it. Sylvia ventures home and the young ornithologist and Sylvia s
grandmother are both waiting for her. He can make them rich with money;

Relationships And Literary Devices In Narcopolis By Jeet...
Sanskriti Merchant SYBA 345,141259 A. ENG. 4.01 19th January 2016 Role of relationships and
literary devices in Narcopolis by Jeet Thayil Some might argue that this literary masterpiece is a book
about wasted lives, but it isn t. It s a book about selling one s soul and taking a great amount of
satisfaction from it. This unapologetic portrayal of a life devoted to drugs is Thayil s debut novel from
the perspective of an outsider slowly gaining the status of someone who belongs. It might be
considered to be close to his own biopic, a fact that Thayil does not try to conceal. It is an enchanting
tale of Mumbai s hazy world of opium addiction in the 1970s when the underbelly of Bombay was
disjointed from the glitz and glamour of the new found city. The book ... Show more content on

Thayil confesses that he believes that the only way to write about opium is through long, open ended
sentences. The city, as given by the title, is the central character of the novel. Thayil named his book
Narcopolis because Bombay seemed to me a city of intoxication, where the substances on offer were
drugs and alcohol, of course, but also god, glamour, power, money and sex . The other characters
swarm in and out of the city, all a mere blip in the working of the mechanism that is this metropolis.
However, the author does not underrate the importance of their lives. On the contrary, the novel
portrays their lives as if they were indispensable to the decade. As if their very existence made the
sullen streets of Bombay what they are today. As if every street has a Dimple, a Rumi, and a Lee.

daydream, would go on and on. gives one a precise

#### We Carry Our Children in Our Hearts, Literally
There are scores of saccharine quotes about children being our hearts living outside of our body or our
hearts carrying a part of our progenies with us wherever we go. That said, I m not waxing poetic when
I tell you that we literally carry our children in our hearts, and in our lungs, liver and kidneys. Even
our brains are sometimes infused with our child s cells. This happens when the placenta ... Show more

Moral Values In Beowulf
Ever since a young age, children have been told stories with a clear moral lesson. These lessons are
used explicitly to show basic principles that a growing mind needs. However, as one ages the morals
become less obvious, but they remain just as influential. Examples of these less direct morals are seen
by young adults in academic analyzation and in their personal and social lives through popular movies
or music. Marvel s Spider Man: Homecoming and Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf, exist to help readers
understand a variety of moral principles needed to become a respectable citizen and a hero. The
writers of the screenplay and epic portray the main character as a tragic hero to show audience that
one may have the confidence to attempt a task, but they must be reasonable enough when they are not
capable to do so. In the film, Spider Man/Peter Parker takes on crimes that he thinks he is ready for,
but is not trained enough to do so. When he is not able to complete the task, his mistake leads to
almost costing the lives of thousands of people and him losing his suit. (Spider Man: Homecoming).
The screenplay writers use this scene to show how our hero relied on the wrong factors and did not
take in account that he was not ready to complete his goal, representing society s tendency to eagerly
jump at opportunities that they are not yet ready for.
In the epic, Beowulf , the author writes, ... Beowulf rose, still brave, still strong, and with his shield at
his side, and a mail shirt on his breast, strode calmly, confidently, toward the tower... (Lines 511 513).
The author wrote this quote to emphasize to readers how confident Beowulf was upon entering this
battle despite his older age. This event causing his untimely death gives the impression to the audience
that going into a situation unprepared sometimes leads to irreversible outcome. In addition to
encouraging audience members to understand their limits, the two works also show the importance of
asking for help.
The main characters in both plots are given opportunities to achieve their goals by already respected
superiors, proving to the audience that it is okay to require help. In the film, Peter Parker is finally
given his chance to become the hero when billionaire,

Passions In Medea
In the ancient world, passions had a wider connotation than they do in the modern age. Passion in the
ancient world tended to have a negative connotation. Often, ancient passions led to sins or
unhappiness. In Greek mythology, divine beings could not control their passions as Euripides wrote
about in Medea. However, Buddhists see passions as undesirable, and they take steps to suppress their
passions to achieve enlightenment. Christianity instructs followers to control their passions, however
they do not restrict them to the extent that Buddhists do. Passions in the ancient religions were urges
which led people to commit sins, but some religions teach people methods to control their passions. In

her children. At one point, she hesitated and decided I shall take my children with me, but her passion
was too strong for her to overcome. She went forward with her plan, and she refuses to allow him to
bury their children. As Medea had hoped, the loss of his children devastated Jason. The plan worked
the way Medea had intended, so she was understandably pleased. Medea s love for Jason turned to
heartbreak which led her to commit each of her murderous acts. She clearly understood the magnitude
of her actions as she revealed when she stated, I understand what evil I am about to do but my wrath is
stronger even than my thoughts. Her ability to recognize her wrongs, yet still not stop herself shows
that people could not expect the divine beings of Ancient Greek mythology to control their passions.
Unlike Medea, Augustine s confessions provides directions for controlling passions as well as
explanations of ancient passions. During puberty, Augustine was unable to distinguish pure affection
from unholy desire but he later learns how to control his passions. He later explained an act of theft
which he committed out of desire to be disobedient. His friends and he carried off a huge load of

Reteplase a selective thrombolytic molecule that only activates when fibrin, a protein involved in the
clotting of blood, is present. Activation of plasminogen by reteplase is stimulated in the presence of
fibrin and occurs through what is known as the kringle 2 domain, a type of binding mediator that
regulates the breakdown of proteins. Reteplase does this by acting on an endogenous fibrinolytic
system; by breaking the bond between arginine and valine to convert plasminogen to plasmin. Plasmin
degrades fibrin and fibrinogen, as well as the coagulation factors in this process. The activity of
reteplase depends on the presence of fibrin and in the absence of this, only small amounts of the
plasminogen are transformed into fibrin. While in the presence of a clot, the reteplase penetrates the
inside and activates the plasminogen, while the tissue plasminogen activator binds to the fibrin matrix

Vacation Vs My Dream Vacation
My Typical Vacation vs. My Dream Vacation
I take a vacation every year, and every year it s the same thing a week of camping at a campground
one hour from our home. But I dream of a vacation in which I take a cruise to some exotic location or
stay at an all inclusive resort on an island where I can be pampered and thrilled at the same time. Both
of these vacations are good, and both certainly offer me time away from work in which I can have a
respite from impending deadlines, a demanding boss, and grumbling clients. In addition, both can
even offer me the outdoor time soaking up the natural world my spirit seems to need. And to be clear,
family memories, which are so important to me, can be made on both vacations. Yet, the differences
between my dream vacation and my typical camping vacation are distinct, which is why I still yearn
for that dream vacation that I have yet to take.
To begin with, both vacations are different in purpose. We go camping because it is inexpensive;
raising children costs money, and camping is an inexpensive yet fun way for us to make family
memories yet still afford things for the children like nice clothes, extracurricular activities like football
and piano lessons, and fun activities like going bowling with friends. The cost of a camping vacation
is minimal, particularly if we use the same supplies year after year. We sleep on the ground in a tent
we have used for ten years. We cook our own food over a campfire, and our daily

The Battle Over Affirmitive Action in the College World
For many the subject of affirmative action is worth protesting over, however, there are a few who

affirmitive action can cause friction among many different opionated people, on the other hand, the
results of the practice has ensured the college educations for many of minorities in America. Should
this practice be allowed during the college admissions process is the question that remains to be

Affirmative action oppossers say using race to determine a students admission status is a double
standard and the one issue many minorities fight to not be judged by. More student s who are not of
the African American and Hispanic races are now suing schools claiming they to have been
discriminated against based on their ethnicity (Jost).
Financially being able to afford life after college is a priority that many students carefully plan for.
The only issue both sides do agree on is that the majors most student s are currently studying will not
have a high demand for job placement once they graduate with their degrees. The two communities
say the majors that most student s study will not provide them with the economic resources they may
need to be sufficient during post college. In 2007 unemployment rates for student s who had a
bachelor s degree was 4.9 percent and 8.5 percent for people with associates degrees and high school
diplomas (Billitteri). Providing proof that the job market and the majors that students were choosing
did not coincide with one another, resulting in the two communities claiming money may have been
wasted in order to educate the unemployed, also assuming the money invested did not go to proper
use.
The evidence given by both sides still leaves me in a neutral state of mind. Generally speaking, the
matter is that of importance that it should be viwed on a serious scale. If more colleges are excepting

It’s Like Apples and Oranges
The idiom It s like apples and oranges has been around for a long time. When
uttered it is meant to say that two things are so different that there is no basis for comparison.
For example, Even though they are twins, Mike and Bob are like apples and oranges, they
never agree on anything . Are Mike and Bob really so different? If so, is there truly no basis
for comparison? Much like Mike and Bob, apples and oranges may have more in common
than the person who would utter such a comment might think. What follows is a multi tiered
examination of the two fruits.
Historically, apples and oranges have been part of the human diet for more years than
have been recorded. It has been speculated that apples originated in the mountainous areas of
western Asia (Hathaway). Similarly, oranges are believed to come from Indo China, which is
also in western Asia (Morton). Both fruits were brought to the western hemisphere by European
settlers (Hathaway; Morton). Apples were likely introduced to North America by the English
or French (Hathaway). Oranges, on the other hand, were brought by the Spanish to Central and
South America (Morton).
Orange trees are known to science as Citrus Sinensis, whereas, apples trees are known
as Malus Domesticus (Apples Vs Oranges). Both belong to the Plantae kingdom, are classified

Difference Between Virtualization And Client Server...
Virtualization vs Client Server Architecture
1. Virtualization
The term virtualization is the separation of a resource or request for a service from the underlying
physical delivery of that service.
a. Virtualization Overview
Virtualization allows converting one physical server into multiple virtual machines (VM) where each
of the virtual machines (VM) will operate as a unique physical device. The VMs are capable of
running their own Operating System (OS) and working independently. This allows the administrator to
create enough virtual servers to use all of the physical machines processing power. Figure 1 Before
and After Virtualization (Ref: Virtualization Overview, VMWare)

Virtualization Advantages and Drawbacks
Let us now check the advantages and disadvantages of Virtualization.
a. Advantages
i. Hardware Abstraction: The service vendors create clusters of hardware consisting of storage,
compute resources like CPU and Memory, networks etc., at a preferred location or at different
locations, and then use virtualization techniques to provide access to these clusters. The customer can
ask for the required capacity which can provided immediately. ii. Scalability: Hardware can be added
to the existing setup anytime. Ina client server setup, whenever hardware was added, there was always
downtime associated to it. This is a major benefit that virtualization brings, because if the
requirements is increasing at a rapid rate, then adding the required hardware can actually keep up
without downtime. iii. Consolidation of Workloads: In a client server setup, most physical boxes are
incredibly under used because of software limitations or usage capacity. But with Virtualization,
resource utilization can be increased by performing load balancing algorithms as the workloads can be
placed on a single piece of hardware reducing the number of physical

Friedrich Nietzsche s Influence On Modern Intellectual...
Friedman Wilhelm Nietzsche was a German philosopher, poet, cultural critic, philologist, and a Greek
and Latin scholar. His work has had lots of influence on modern intellectual history and Western
philosophy in general. It revolved mainly around art, philology, religion and science. He wrote about
morality, tragedy, aesthetics, atheism, epistemology and consciousness. However, some of Nietzsche s
most profound elements of his philosophy include his powerful critique of reason and truth. He argued
for perspectivism. He critiqued religion and Christian ethics, developed the concept of Ubermensch
and the doctrine of eternal return to support it. Also, Friedman Nietzsche came up with his theory of
master slave morality and response to the death of God and nihilism. The philosopher s notion of the
Apollonian and Dionysian were prominent as well. The paper discusses, in detail, some of Nietzsche s
major philosophies such as master and slave morality. It looks further into his view on nihilism; his
definition, why he was so much against it and what he thinks should replace it. Also, the write up
explains Nietzsche s analysis of Christianity as a dominant religion and its teachings. Lastly, it points
out the prejudices of philosophers and the relationship between philosophy and truth.Beyond good and

Argumentative Essay On Single Sex Schools
Single sex education has been becoming more popular in recent years. In 2002, the No Child Left
Behind Act was passed. This was a major turning point in the advancement of single sex schools
because it loosened government restrictions. Since 2002, about 95 single sex public schools have been
established (Novotney). Historically, single gender education has been more prevalent in other
countries, such as New Zealand, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, than it is in the United States.
One reason that the United States has had far fewer single gender schools is because of the laws
concerning education that the states all follow. Also, single sex schools were not able to be financially
funded. This made it difficult for the United States to establish and continuously run many single sex
schools, especially government funded single sex public schools (Bigler and Signorella 659). With the
advancement of the number of single sex schools, questions and controversies have arisen. Parents
began questioning what type of education best suited their child. Should parents send their children to
coeducational institutions, or single gender institutions? In which environment will students most
succeed? While data has come up inconclusive in this regard, it is still important for certain values to
be taught in schools. Parents want their children to succeed in their social skills, be tr. Coeducational

  • 2. Charles Dickens Great Expectations Many people say that writing is nothing more than a way of the author to express himself. This is true in many cases but none as much as in Great Expectations. In many ways the narrator/protagonist Pip is Charles Dickens in body and mind. While there are many differences between the story and Charles Dickens life there remains one constant. This constant is the way Pip as the narrator feels, because these feelings are Dickens s own feelings about the life he lead. Since Great Expectations was written towards end of Charles Dickens life, he was wiser and able to make out the mistakes and regrets of his life, and Pip experiences them all. While Great Expectations is seen as a tragic book not many people really think about where these themes come from, and when the book is read with the knowledge of Dickens life it truly reveals new meanings. Charles John Huffam Dickens born February 7th, 1812, was born a poor man. When Charles Dickens was 12 his father John Dickens was sent to jail because he had too much debt. Since Charles father was sent to jail Charles had to drop out of school and join a shoe blacking company. When Charles no longer had to work he felt betrayed by his parents for making him do what was their rightful job, taking care of the family. He thought that the second he started working for that company his youth was gone. Once his father had received the family inheritance Charles was able to go to school again and his father was released from jail. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John P Fadden Award I am writing in support of nomination of Todd Preston, Harvard Wrestler, for the John P. Fadden Award. The John P. Fadden Award recognizes a student who has overcome physical adversity to make a contribution to his/her team. This award was established in 1966 to recognize the contributions of athletic trainer and friend of Harvard athletes, John P. Fadden. Todd Preston is the best representative of the intended spirit of this award. Todd s story not a unique one in the rise and fall of an athletes career that s marred by adversity, highlights and coming up just a little short. It is unique in the way handled the positive and negative events on his path all while being a leader, mentor, and friend to his team mates. Todd arrived on campus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Case Study Chan Ke Tong 1. According to my point of view I think there are main three issues that was result in getting a very few requests for the company. According to the given data I think the 1st reason is that not having an enough communication with the managers in the other countries. Chan Kee Tong is a person who was newly recruited from the company. He hasn t enough communication with the people in the company. Some of the managers he didn t even see as well as he didn t even talk. So there is a poor communication between Chan Kee Tong the other managers. So due to that the managers wouldn t trust or know much about the plans of Chan Kee Tong it would be a main reason for not getting a good answers from the managers. The second reasons than that they didn t get many replies because Chan Kee Tong is a newly hired recruiter he doesn t have any connection with the managers of the other countries. He even didn t talk with them. Though the assistant of the Chan Kee Tong is uneducated, he is having a greater knowledge about the company as well as the people in there. He knows the way that the company will run, the way in which the company would able to do their works. Though Chan Kee Tong is well educated he doesn t really know about the needs wants of the company. Even he doesn t have a good idea about the way in which the ... • 5. The Way Forward for Sainsbury The Way Forward for Sainsbury Sainsbury has had a long history of business success, something that it can continue for the foreseeable future if it maintains a cohesive business strategy, a strategy that is rooted in a larger cohesive corporate vision. This paper examines some of the key factors that the company must consider to be the foundation for a prosperous and profitable future. This analysis demonstrates that Sainsbury s executives understand that not only does the company have to plan and then put into effect good initiatives and good policies, but they have to sell the company s image as one that its customers want to share. Sainsbury s sells itself successfully by (also successfully) selling itself as a representative and purveyor of British values. The following analysis (including the scorecard at the end) provides an overall explanation and justification for the measures suggested that Sainsbury should take to achieve these indicators A content analysis of Sainsbury s annual reports as well as statements made by Chief Executive Justin King reveals what the company plans for its future in a way that is tacit, even coded. This should hardly be surprising: In nearly every act of human verbal or written communication there are nuances of meaning that go unsaid but that can nevertheless act as important signals between the parties and that can serve as equally as important as the explicit messages. These tacit meanings can occur at the highest seats of power, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reducing Your Carbon Footprint and How the Stages of... More and more people are coming to realize the negative impact our actions within the current global take make waste economic model are having on the environment. Environmental movements that advocate against the earth s continued degradation instruct individuals, communities, and governments that it is critical to take action now. According to Prochaska and DiClement, the only way to increase the efficacy of any given call to action, however, is if the suggested change in behaviour is appropriate to where a person is currently at within the Transtheoretical Stages of Change model. Behaviour modification, from day to day habits to a more fundamental lifestyle overhaul, is often challenging to the point of failure. This happens because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Second Stage Contemplation As individuals begin to discover how their actions negatively impact the environment, mindfulness and dissonance grows. If this dissonance is complimented by a sense of empowered self efficacy, and the realization that change brings benefits, these ingredients often result in the progression to the contemplation stage. At this stage, for example, the suggestion to eat organic, locally grown and produced food is a more appropriate call to action. The contemplation stage is marked by ambivalency, but the willingness exists to weigh the pros and cons, and the idea will not be immediately dismissed as an inconvenient expense. People in this stage need to know that there actions make a difference. Education and an unconditional support system can help a person progress through this stage. The Third Stage Preparation Once people conclude that the benefits of change outweigh the inconveniences, they are likely to progress to the preparation stage. People in this position believe global warming is real, for instance, and will begin to feel deeply about their own contributory actions. Individuals in this stage are ready to work out the logistics of incorporating ethical eating into their day to day lives. Abstaining from fast food, buying only organic ... • 7. Roman Polanski s Memoirs Of A Pianist Roman Polanski s heartfelt and honorable interpretation of the true horrors of the Holocaust, (based on the memoir of famed Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman,) appears at face value as just another blockbuster period piece. Yet it offers so much more. Polanski expertly crafts filmmaking artistry with true life, allowing the viewer to be completely immersed in a time previously known to them only through history books. Upon the first viewing I was restless, overwhelmed and unsuspecting of the sheer weight of what I had previously considered to be another film pandering to an audience of mock sympathy. By watching it a second time, I was fully capable of appreciating the stunning and emotionally demanding story of one man s (at times, reluctant) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One scene in particular achieved this goal completely. During one of the final scenes of the film, Szpilman is in hiding, and attempts to open a can of soup. He creeps out of his hiding spot in an old abandoned house to find something to open the can with. As he attempts to pry the can open, he falls directly in the sight of an SS Officer. Instead of shooting him, the officer asks Szpilman a few questions, resulting in Szpilman playing piano for the Nazi. As tense and emotional as this scene is to watch, the audience also receives a moment of joy. Polanski uses a high angle to give the audience the impression that they too are looking down on Szpilman as he plays the piano, making him look even weaker and trapped than he already was. Fifteen years have gone by since those glory days, and Neely has come home to Messina to bury Coach Eddie Rake, the man who molded the Spartans into an unbeatable football dynasty. In previous productions it has been based in a circus setting which can lead the actors to portray a more sophomoric humor approach to acting. In this show most of the actors don t shy that far from that style but they tone it down. One thing that does re occur throughout the show is a kind of double acting. His character was determined to help these people understand the ways of God and to lead them to heaven. His objectives came out when the script would pull lines from the Bible. However, they would be hidden when he too would be an actor of the parables. This is to be expected as his character is then not meant to draw away from the story itself. His objective is cliche only from the standpoint of he is a teacher so obviously his objective is to teach and reach out to the lives of others. There is not a way to break that however because he is Jesus, and that is what his purpose actually was while he was on earth. His actions would always keep the other characters in check. As if he was a teacher keeping his class in check. Ultimately the character gives himself up as a sacrifice and dies. However the actions of this show portray it that he accepts that he is going to be killed and there isn t anything he can do about it. There is no clear actions that gives the audience faith that he could actually stop this from happening to himself. The entire cast has a strong chemistry. • 10. The Ekkyklema Used In Greek Theatre Throughout the history of Greek Theatre, the ekkyklema is considered as one of the most important devices used in Greek tragedies. Literally, translated to thing that rolls out (didaskalia.net), it was presented to the Attic Stage during the 5th century and served an important function of displaying dead bodies of fallen characters. The ekkyklema proved to be a crucial component to the stage environment because it provided directors a mean of clarifying the action (britannica.com). In Greek theatre, violence was forbidden to be acted out, so directors needed to create a new medium in which the act of killing could be implied. With the help of the ekkyklema, scenes that included death could now be carried out with ease. Solomon Asch Conformity Experiment The Solomon Asch s Conformity Study is an experiment where a standard line is shown to an audience along with three other lines: one will be longer, one will be shorter, one will be the exact same line as the standard. The goal is to identify which is the same line A, B, or C and the answer was always obvious. The task is simple, but a person will be the only real participant in the room while the seven others are confederates who were pretending to be participants and who were trying to use social pressure to get the participant to conform with the majority group. For example, if the real answer was A, the confederates would try to throw off the real participant by saying the answer is B. With the majority saying B is the correct answer, the real participant would agree with them, even knowing the answer is wrong because everyone else didn t say A. The experiment was tested on 50 male students from Swarthmore College, and on average, about 32% of the participants conformed to the incorrect answer with the majority. ... This revealed the power of a group where the odd one out would give in and agree with the majority in order to fit in. However, this destroys a person s judgement. Sociologists and economists Herbert Gintis and Samuel Bowles argue (as cited in Haralambos and Holborn, 2004 p. 698) that there is a close correspondence between the social relationships which govern personal interaction in the work place and the social relationships of the education system. So to make the net present value positive we would have to change something. We first started by adding 10% to the utilization for every year. This alone didn t make a huge difference so we had to additionally lower the hourly wage to $18.19/hr. This gave us a net present value of about $35,000. This seems unreasonable or at the very least unfair to lower each worker s hourly wage while increasing the workload. The second way we tried to get the net present value positive was by just decreasing the hourly wage of each employee from $20/hr to $16.02/hr. This gave us a net present value of about $33,000. This seems like a more reasonable solution, but it is dangerous because it could cause workers to quit. Therefore we wouldn t recommend this project. Some students who have had traumas in their life take security in safe spaces due to the guarantee of not being in harm s way of the lessons they may find offensive. In a world that is not censored from sensitive material in every location it is apprehensive to put trust into a specific location for security. Safe spaces on college campuses are defined as a place or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm therefor, it is wise to find comfort in the ideological sense of security a student would likely find in a safe space. These lessons are used explicitly to show basic principles that a growing mind needs. However, as one ages the morals become less obvious, but they remain just as influential. Examples of these less direct morals are seen by young adults in academic analyzation and in their personal and social lives through popular movies or music. Marvel s Spider Man: Homecoming and Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf, exist to help readers understand a variety of moral principles needed to become a respectable citizen and a hero. The writers of the screenplay and epic portray the main character as a tragic hero to show audience that one may have the confidence to attempt a task, but they must be reasonable enough when they are not capable to do so. In the film, Spider Man/Peter Parker takes on crimes that he thinks he is ready for, but is not trained enough to do so. When he is not able to complete the task, his mistake leads to almost costing the lives of thousands of people and him losing his suit. (Spider Man: Homecoming). The screenplay writers use this scene to show how our hero relied on the wrong factors and did not take in account that he was not ready to complete his goal, representing society s tendency to eagerly jump at opportunities that they are not yet ready for. In the epic, Beowulf , the author writes, ... Beowulf rose, still brave, still strong, and with his shield at his side, and a mail shirt on his breast, strode calmly, confidently, toward the tower... (Lines 511 513). The author wrote this quote to emphasize to readers how confident Beowulf was upon entering this battle despite his older age. This event causing his untimely death gives the impression to the audience that going into a situation unprepared sometimes leads to irreversible outcome. In addition to encouraging audience members to understand their limits, the two works also show the importance of asking for help. At one point, she hesitated and decided I shall take my children with me, but her passion was too strong for her to overcome. She went forward with her plan, and she refuses to allow him to bury their children. As Medea had hoped, the loss of his children devastated Jason. The plan worked the way Medea had intended, so she was understandably pleased. Medea s love for Jason turned to heartbreak which led her to commit each of her murderous acts. She clearly understood the magnitude of her actions as she revealed when she stated, I understand what evil I am about to do but my wrath is stronger even than my thoughts. Her ability to recognize her wrongs, yet still not stop herself shows that people could not expect the divine beings of Ancient Greek mythology to control their passions. Unlike Medea, Augustine s confessions provides directions for controlling passions as well as explanations of ancient passions. During puberty, Augustine was unable to distinguish pure affection from unholy desire but he later learns how to control his passions. He later explained an act of theft which he committed out of desire to be disobedient. His friends and he carried off a huge load of pears. Retepalase Research Paper Approved in 1996 by the FDA, Reteplase is designed for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction due to coronary artery obstruction (heart attack), improving ventricular function after a myocardial infarction, reduces the incidence of congestive heart failure as well as reduces the rate of mortality associated with this type of infarction. Reteplase is designed to be more potent and has a faster action then many other types of drugs that treat myocardial infarction this is due to its unique binding site as well as its half life when introduced into the body. Reteplase, a third generation thrombolytic agent, is a type of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator that is genetically engineered in modified Escherichia coli. Reteplase contains 355 of the 527 amino acids present in tissue plasminogen activator (tPA); this is, in fact, designed to increase the half life of the molecule when introduced within the body as well as allowing for different ... Activation of plasminogen by reteplase is stimulated in the presence of fibrin and occurs through what is known as the kringle 2 domain, a type of binding mediator that regulates the breakdown of proteins. Reteplase does this by acting on an endogenous fibrinolytic system; by breaking the bond between arginine and valine to convert plasminogen to plasmin. Plasmin degrades fibrin and fibrinogen, as well as the coagulation factors in this process. The activity of reteplase depends on the presence of fibrin and in the absence of this, only small amounts of the plasminogen are transformed into fibrin. While in the presence of a clot, the reteplase penetrates the inside and activates the plasminogen, while the tissue plasminogen activator binds to the fibrin matrix and accumulates on the surface of the ... • 30. Vacation Vs My Dream Vacation My Typical Vacation vs. My Dream Vacation I take a vacation every year, and every year it s the same thing a week of camping at a campground one hour from our home. But I dream of a vacation in which I take a cruise to some exotic location or stay at an all inclusive resort on an island where I can be pampered and thrilled at the same time. Both of these vacations are good, and both certainly offer me time away from work in which I can have a respite from impending deadlines, a demanding boss, and grumbling clients. In addition, both can even offer me the outdoor time soaking up the natural world my spirit seems to need. And to be clear, family memories, which are so important to me, can be made on both vacations. Yet, the differences between my dream vacation and my typical camping vacation are distinct, which is why I still yearn for that dream vacation that I have yet to take. To begin with, both vacations are different in purpose. We go camping because it is inexpensive; raising children costs money, and camping is an inexpensive yet fun way for us to make family memories yet still afford things for the children like nice clothes, extracurricular activities like football and piano lessons, and fun activities like going bowling with friends. The cost of a camping vacation is minimal, particularly if we use the same supplies year after year. We sleep on the ground in a tent we have used for ten years. We cook our own food over a campfire, and our daily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Affirmative action oppossers say using race to determine a students admission status is a double standard and the one issue many minorities fight to not be judged by. More student s who are not of the African American and Hispanic races are now suing schools claiming they to have been discriminated against based on their ethnicity (Jost). Financially being able to afford life after college is a priority that many students carefully plan for. The only issue both sides do agree on is that the majors most student s are currently studying will not have a high demand for job placement once they graduate with their degrees. The two communities say the majors that most student s study will not provide them with the economic resources they may need to be sufficient during post college. In 2007 unemployment rates for student s who had a bachelor s degree was 4.9 percent and 8.5 percent for people with associates degrees and high school diplomas (Billitteri). Providing proof that the job market and the majors that students were choosing did not coincide with one another, resulting in the two communities claiming money may have been wasted in order to educate the unemployed, also assuming the money invested did not go to proper use. The evidence given by both sides still leaves me in a neutral state of mind. Generally speaking, the matter is that of importance that it should be viwed on a serious scale. Virtualization The term virtualization is the separation of a resource or request for a service from the underlying physical delivery of that service. a. Virtualization Overview Virtualization allows converting one physical server into multiple virtual machines (VM) where each of the virtual machines (VM) will operate as a unique physical device. The VMs are capable of running their own Operating System (OS) and working independently. This allows the administrator to create enough virtual servers to use all of the physical machines processing power. The customer can ask for the required capacity which can provided immediately. ii. Scalability: Hardware can be added to the existing setup anytime. Ina client server setup, whenever hardware was added, there was always downtime associated to it. This is a major benefit that virtualization brings, because if the requirements is increasing at a rapid rate, then adding the required hardware can actually keep up without downtime. iii. He wrote about morality, tragedy, aesthetics, atheism, epistemology and consciousness. However, some of Nietzsche s most profound elements of his philosophy include his powerful critique of reason and truth. He argued for perspectivism. He critiqued religion and Christian ethics, developed the concept of Ubermensch and the doctrine of eternal return to support it. Also, Friedman Nietzsche came up with his theory of master slave morality and response to the death of God and nihilism. The philosopher s notion of the Apollonian and Dionysian were prominent as well. The paper discusses, in detail, some of Nietzsche s major philosophies such as master and slave morality. It looks further into his view on nihilism; his definition, why he was so much against it and what he thinks should replace it. • 42. Argumentative Essay On Single Sex Schools Single sex education has been becoming more popular in recent years. In 2002, the No Child Left Behind Act was passed. This was a major turning point in the advancement of single sex schools because it loosened government restrictions. Since 2002, about 95 single sex public schools have been established (Novotney). Historically, single gender education has been more prevalent in other countries, such as New Zealand, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, than it is in the United States. One reason that the United States has had far fewer single gender schools is because of the laws concerning education that the states all follow. Also, single sex schools were not able to be financially funded. This made it difficult for the United States to establish and continuously run many single sex schools, especially government funded single sex public schools (Bigler and Signorella 659). With the advancement of the number of single sex schools, questions and controversies have arisen. Parents began questioning what type of education best suited their child. Should parents send their children to coeducational institutions, or single gender institutions? In which environment will students most succeed? While data has come up inconclusive in this regard, it is still important for certain values to be taught in schools. Parents want their children to succeed in their social skills, be tr.
