Questions On Online Regulation On The Code Of Cyberspace
LSE ID 201335899 Cyberpaternalism and Network Communitarianism sit in opposition to each other.
Cyberpaternalists believe that online regulation is effected through changes in the code of cyberspace,
while Network Communitarians believe that the community takes part in the regulatory dialogue
through action and reaction. Can the two be reconciled? If not, which is to be preferred and why?
ANSWER As we know world has undergone a digital transformation of an astonishingly wide range
of material artifacts interwoven with social practices in 20th century. Lets take an example of a bank
where a person sits in a wooden cabin with little scraps of paper and an adding machine and replace it
with an ATM accessible 24 hours a day or an example of classroom with the teacher, blackboard,
books and verbal lecture and replace it with materials presented in computer hardware and software
and call it interactive learning . But the boons and banes of this digital technology require constant
surveillance. Censorship is often a matter of perspectives. The legitimizing motivations behind
controlling flows of information often lie in paternalistic desires to protect weaker individuals whether
they are children or adults. The problem of perspectives is one of cultural relativism in the sense that
we limit access to information in an effort to defend important cultural values and social stability. The
purpose of this essay is to ascertain which school of thought regulating the digital

Rhetorical Analysis Of Defending Free Speech On College...
Free speech on college campuses has been a widely debated topic in recent years. Because of this, the
opinions held on this subject vary. In the editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses , the
Editorial Board of the Chicago Tribune defends the idea of education and free speech. The Editorial
Board states that students today are not receiving as useful of an education because of the barriers put
on free speech. In addition, they argue that in not allowing students to feel uncomfortable, they are not
receiving a true education. [A little more summary here would be helpful how does the author support
these claims?] The editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses, introduces a valid logical
argument on education through describing instances in which students experience uncomfortable
learning situations, and the ways in which they were handled. [Hannah, your reasons here are about
content, not about rhetoric what rhetorical reasons is the argument strong?]
The true substance of this editorial comes from the authors use of logical appeals and its relatability to
students. [These are two different ideas which is going to make your paragraph rather jumbled. How
could you reorganize to make sure each paragraph is focused on a single unified idea?] The author
argues the importance in not going so far in protecting undergraduates (n.p.) from controversial or
touchy subjects. A substantial part of education consists of understanding your opinion, as well as, the

How Failure Can Impact A Children s View On Intelligence
Parents and Education: How Failure Can Impact a Children s View on Intelligence
There are a lot of factors that play a role in how a child performs in the educational realm. A major
influencer is the role that a parent plays in their child s education specifically how the parent views
failure. In this article, Parents Views of Failure Predict Children s Fixed and Growth Intelligence Mind
Sets by Kyla Haimovitz and Carol S. Dweck, the question is if a parent s specific response to failure
impacts the child s belief in whether intelligence is malleable or fixed. The article cites research done
on multiple experiments that study: the level of a child s motivation and learning based on talent,
student s belief in the malleability of intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study gathered 100 participants that were in 4th 5th grade, an average age of 11, and over half
female. The participant location was three schools in the San Francisco Area. Parental consent was
given. The questionnaire used to measure the intelligence mindset was identical to the one used in
Study One. They also measured the children s view of how their parent s perceived failure by a two
question survey: my parents think failure can help me learn and my parents think failure is bad and
should be avoided (Haimovitz and Dweck 2016). The results of the study were that the reports done
by the children on their parent s failure mindset predicted their own belief in either a fixed or growth
mindset. Based off of the findings of these three studies, a parent s failure mindset has an effect on a
children s view of intelligence more so than the parent s own view on intelligence. In a failure
debilitating mindset, a child is more than likely to believe that their intelligence, or intelligence in
general, is fixed and cannot be improved. This mindset manifests itself due to several factors that were
studied during the experiment. First the failure mindset of a parent is more visible to the child than
their intelligence mindset. Because of this visibility, a failure debilitating mindset of a parent will have
a greater impact on their child than they

How Is Rip Van Winkle A Hero
Rip Van Winkle is an ineffectual male hero who cannot support his farm or family. Instead of facing
the consequences of his idleness and facing his wife, who certainly makes the problem worse instead
of better, he sleeps for twenty years. Finally, he is of such an age that his idleness is excusable and
allowed. This makes him an antithesis to the American dream. He has no ambition, he does not work
hard for himself, and he does not rise above where he began. He just likes to chat and have friends. He
also sleeps through what was the defining moment of American history, and upon waking, he does not
even care. This develops him as the American anti hero, for he takes no part in the country s founding
or history. His story makes sense as more of an Old World story, one that the Dutch settlers, in their
relatively old village, can retell. The story also shows that great historical events are often less
important than the daily happenings in an individual s life. The only oppressor Rip Van Winkle cares
about having overcome is his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is constantly berating Rip Van Winkle, even though everyone else in the neighborhood adores
him. We only ever see her worst side, except for the one comment made after she has died that she
always kept the house in good order. Her criticism of her husband, if far too strong, is nevertheless
deserved. He has completely failed in his role as husband, father, and breadwinner, leaving his family
in near ruin. The husband is an extreme form of deadbeat and the wife an extreme form of nagging, a
state of affairs which appears to be a lesson and warning for Irving s male and female readers alike.
The husbands should learn to be more industrious and attentive, and the wives should learn to be less
antagonistic and more understanding lest they drive their husbands further

The Benefits Of College Tuitions In America
College tuitions in American is too expansive for the young adult who has the potential to be
successful in our community. Many people were not able to attend college due to financial issues.
College tuitions can go over $100,000 for a four year college. In result, they find part time jobs to pay
their tuitions and spend extra time in college for total of six through seven years instead of four years
to achieve their bachelor degree. In addition, many college students take loans and had to pay over
$30,000 of debt after attending college (Lobosco). It s upsetting to see people especially young adults
to get accept to an excellent college but unable to afford it.
This has become a huge problem because we are speaking about the future of America. The people
who has the potential to do good for the country. One of them can even be our president one day and
help aid America. Everyone deserve an opportunity to become successful however it cost a lot of
money and it hold many people back to do so. In the article When Colleges Dangle Money to Lure
Students Who Ignored Them Ron Lieber talk about students get accepted into colleges and unable to
afford it unless college tuitions are low cost. Lieber is only speaking about a liberal arts program
which made a lot of student overwhelm by the cost of tuition. I could not imagine what will law or
medical school would cost. Lieber states The Upheaval that comes with reopening the college decision

Penal Code Section 646 Essay
People can post some foolish things on Facebook. Some posts go beyond embarrassing or ill advised,
though, and can get the poster in serious trouble with the law.
California has four related but distinct laws that make online stalking, harassment, and bullying
criminal offenses. The content and nature of a Facebook post can violate one or all of these laws and
lead to criminal charges and a conviction that could result in time behind bars.
1. Cyberstalking: Penal Code Section 646.9
Just as stalking in real life is a crime in California, as it is in most states, stalking someone online is
also a serious criminal offense.
California s prohibition against cyberstalking is part of its general stalking law, Penal Code Section

rebelling against the idea of permanence. Snapchat aims to apply through technological means the
temporal time bound paradigm that characterizes oral cultures (Soffer, 2016). An image becomes a

popularity has helped spur other private messaging apps but none are as successful as Snapchat. The
real time communication protocol is what Snapchat is all about. Snapchat keeps people connected

Naturalism And Realism In Fisher Folk, Madonna And Child
There are many different factors to consider when analyzing a piece of artwork such as the color
pallette used, the materials used, the medium of the work, the artist, the time period it was made in,
and so much more. Naturalism and idealism are two concepts, of many, that are important throughout
the evolution of art. Naturalism refers to the representation of objects in their most realistic form. On
the contrary, idealism attempts to hold the subject to a certain standard of perfection. Fisher Folk,
undated, and Madonna and Child, finished in 1438, are two works of art that embody those two
concepts very well.
During a first level iconographic observation of Fisher Folk we see three people off to the right side of
the painting. Two older women and a younger child are in the middle of an exchange for some fish.
All three are dressed in multiple layers of ragged clothing trying to keep warm. With the landscape
being overcast it makes the painting feel cold because we automatically associate gloomy skies with
cold and rain. By portraying the clothes in poor condition, the artist is representing naturalism because
nothing about them looks ideal or something that people would be envious over. The child is without
shoes, so that s another sign that the family is poor. Naturalistic artwork strives to show the subject in
the most realistic way possible. As the UMFA label states, his work expresses the reality of fishermen
s families lifestyle in the 19th century. At a closer look,

The Pros And Cons Of Nutrilite
In 1945, two men, William S. Casselberry and Lee S. Mytinger set up their own company, Mytinger
Casselberry, Inc. to become exclusive national distributors of the Nutrilite vitamins. They published a
booklet and various leaflets that claimed that Nutrilite vitamins positively affected diseases like
cancer, arthritis, asthma, heart trouble and tuberculosis as well as many other illnesses.
In 1947 the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) began a 4 year campaign to force Mytinger
Casselberry, Inc. and their 15,000 door to door agents to stop making unfounded claims about
Nutrilite s vitamin products or face Court action. They claimed that the company had violated Section

Persuasive Essay About Uniforms
Many different types of uniforms are currently being worn today, but the people wearing them will
either hold them with an honorific or stigmatic connotation. This paints a very black and white
picture, but it would be hard to find someone who would consider their uniform as both an honor and
a mark of disgrace. This is a result of some uniforms being a punishment or being forced to wear,
while others are earned through very hard work and dedication. Almost everyone has worn a uniform
that they were proud of wearing and a uniform that they were less than enthusiastic about; however
most people would agree that they distinctly remember a specific uniform they feel strongly about,
whether or not it was an honorific or stigmatic one. Throughout my life I have worn many different
uniforms as well, but for whatever reason the ones I have disliked always stick out to me the most. My
least favorite off them all was my Sears uniform, it held so many negative thoughts in my head, it was
hard to picture. The simple thought of putting it on could ruin my entire day. There were many
experiences behind this, but here are a few reasons my Sears uniform was a stigmatic one.
My Sears uniform represented everything I had hated about the store in the first place. The uniform
was an old blue collared shirt with a cheaply made pair of khaki pants, all put together with black
sneakers. These boring and bland articles of clothing were a constant reminder of the dying store I was

Lenin s Legacy
Throughout the 1800s and into the 1900s the industrial revolution s unparalleled level of change
pushed the world into a new era. While change occurred throughout this time, the most radical was the
implementation of Communist ideology in Tsarist Russia. In a series of revolutions, Vladimir Lenin
seized power for the Bolsheviks, establishing the world s first Communist based government. Lenin
found himself in the predicament of building a state which would wither away, something Marx
claimed would happen naturally. However, this had never been attempted before, and quickly Lenin
found himself in a series of trial and error tests. Lenin s untimely death brought about more immense
changes, as a power struggle to assume control over his legacy ... Show more content on

Lenin s revolution placed himself suddenly in a situation which Marx had never written from. The
revolution occurred, Bolsheviks had seized power, and suddenly a state would have to be developed
that would wither away while at the same time facing a civil crisis; a task deemed near impossible
(Lecture, Hoston March 7th). Lenin s own arguments prior to this held a much more anarchical view,
advocating for the abolition of the army, of long term bureaucracy, and of the police force (State and
Revolution 339). These calls would not be what went into effect in the end. It is here we see the first
of the many major departures from Lenin s original theory which began to address the reality Russia
was in. Lenin had realized that a state had to be strong at some point, even if marching towards
communism as Communism, makes the state absolutely unnecessary, for there is nobody to be
oppressed (State and Revolution 375). At the point Lenin was in power, the communists still had those

Definition Essay About Evil
Evil is the big bad wolf. It s the old witch offering a poisonous apple. At least that s how they tell our
bedtime stories. Parents tell their children about an evil force and the good that eventually overcomes
it. Children always like to cheer on the good and wish the bad away. A story s evil does bad things and
hurts people, there s no reason to not side against it. There s usually no problem distinguishing evil in
a story, but evil in our world gets messier. Some might call a thing someone did evil, but others don t
see it the same way. Everyone has a basic idea that evil is something bad, so where does it go from
there? To start off, evil should be classified as a concept. Evil at its outermost layer is just an abstract
idea. There is a definition, and some might say that the definition of evil changes from person to
person, but truthfully it s their perspective. The waitress of a restaurant may not see evil in something
that the boy next door does despite the fact that they do have the same definition of evil. They might
not see eye to eye, but that does not mean either one of them are wrong, it just means that they don t
see the world the same way and that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each person judges evil based off of their own life and what they ve accumulated throughout. It s easy
to say that something is evil in a story because we are given all the information by the author. Out here
in the world, it takes time to gather all the facts in order to judge, and sometimes the facts may never
come out. When things like these happen, very often do people jump to conclusions and are boxed in
by their narrow mindedness. It s always important to remember that there is usually more to a person
than the acts they do. Often, many of what we prescribe as evil is just a lack of understanding and
empathy. If time were really taken to evaluate some of the so called evil, a lot of beliefs would

Alcohol Advertising
Millions of Americans suffers from the effects of alcohol and drug abuse. It can shatter lives, brake
families, and to rob people of their dreams for the future. Once alcoholism or drug addiction begins,
an individual s problems not only don t go away, but their mental well being as well as physical ability
continues to diminish from the immediate and long term adverse effects from the drugs and alcohol
abuse. Is it really true that advertising increases alcohol consumption, which increases alcohol abuse?

This is how young people view them. If one treats beverage alcohol as a dangerous substance to be
avoided and not even advertised, he or she inadvertently can raise it up from the ordinary into the
range of the powerful, the tantalizing, and the desirable Big Deal. (Hanson, 1997). In so doing, we slip
into the familiar, failed pattern of demonizing the substance of alcohol rather than discouraging
irresponsible behavior.
Alcohol addiction is a very serious and life threatening illness. Everything can get ruined in one s life.
The life cycle of alcohol addiction begins with a problem, discomfort or some for of emotional or
physical pain a person is experiencing and becomes difficult to deal with. At some point alcohol or
drug enters the picture and provides a temporary, synthetic relief, and for a moment it seems to act as a
solution to the problem. Alcohol addiction can be overcome and the individual can return to leading a
happy, healthy, productive and responsible life once again. Often people drink during social occasions;
it tends to loosen inhibitors.
Unfortunately, the recklessness often is the result of excessive drinking and is a leading cause of
serious injuries and accidental deaths. In addition, alcohol is the most common cause of preventable
birth defects that include fatal alcohol syndrome. The effects of alcohol abuse can be short term and
long term. Short term effects of alcohol use include: altered

Apple Browning Lab
Brianna Smith 20683081
Introduction:
In this lab it will be determined how different exposures of environments will affect the browning of
an apple. In order for this experiment to proceed the knowledge of why an apple turns brown must be
researched and understood. In this research it was determined that polyphenol oxidase is the enzyme
that distorts the colouring of the apple through an oxidation reaction. (Mellidou, I., et. Al, 2014, p.1)
the discolouration varies depending on the exposure in different conditions. the ideal condition for an
apple is an environment that maintains a low temperature as well as high levels of carbon dioxide and
lower levels of oxygen. (Mellidou, I., et. Al, 2014, p.1) the colour change of the apple after effected ...

Using air as a control the experiment was conducted using different time intervals. In air the apple
yielded little to no browning. This is due to an oxidation reaction occurring within the apple. the
enzyme polyphenol oxidase speeds up the reaction causing the discolouration to change quickly, as
can be seen in the results after only seven minutes. Mellidou, I., et. Al, 2014, p.1) Compared to the air
the deionized water caused the apple to appear browner than in the control. this is due to the lack of
enzymes and neutral ph levels. The ph levels and lack of ions allowed the reaction to occur because
the water no longer contained the materials to stop/ slow down the reaction as regular non deionized
would. (Kim, M. J., Hung, Y, 2014, p.543) After being sprayed with lemon juice the apple slice
appeared to have not changed colour. This is due to the presence of vitamin c and the low ph that
prolonged the oxidation reaction. . (The last word, 2003, p.1) finally the apple kept in the fridge
showed presence of little discolouration. This is due to the fact that apples stay fresher in lower

Maya Ceramics Essay
There are many different types of styles and cultures that affect the work of ceramics. One type of
culture that was very interesting was the Pre Columbian Maya culture of Mesoamerica. The natural
environment that the Mayans lived in offered a wealth of materials and ideas to give works of
beautiful art. The Maya used ceramics every day, small cups for drinking vessels, tall cylinders for
storing and pouring ritual beverages, and plates for all sorts of delicious foodstuffs, from tamales to
corncakes served with sauces ( Miller 190). The Maya had specific techniques and shared similarities
with the ancient Greeks regarding how they formed their own clay slips.

The larger sites spread out political and economic influence over increasing lengths to include new
resident populations, creating spacious and powerful political hierarchies. By AD 500, Classic Maya
civilization was civic and hierarchical. Innumerable rituals, both private and public chaperoned these
developments. These rituals required all the effects of prominence, including unique painted pottery
ware for the accompanying feasts.
The painted vessels attended an auxiliary significant role as social currency within the domain of élite
gift exchange. Many of these vessels finally ended in interment as part of the funerary offerings.
One of the exceptional attributes of Classic Maya painted pottery is the aspect of painted parchment
texts around their upper rims as well as within the pictorial views on the vessels. These texts were
utilized as a principal designs feature, as relational devices to fabric the pictorial field and to stand in
as the rooflines and pillars of the architectural surroundings portrayed on many vessels.
Most substantial characteristic of Classic Maya pottery which acclaimed it to function as an effectual
emblem of political prestige was the sixth century AD origination of new painting styles, as a central
characteristic of the iridescent pottery, mirror the cultural individuality function within the political
pit. Consequently, by commemorating the pottery s many style groups and deciding where they were

Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily...
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle
child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood
consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and
play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not
unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended
Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount
Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and
relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and
immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case,
no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes
frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the
persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well
known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I
died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a
tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars
estimate ranged from 1858 1865. These

The Amendment Of The Fourteenth Amendment
On January 31st, 1865, the 13th amendment was passed by congress. This amendment said that no
one, not even those of differing colors, could be held as slaves (with the exception of prisoners). In
short, this amendment freed the black slaves (and other races) of enslavement. Unfortunately though,
the black slaves were never truly free for well over 100 years, as after the passing of the 13th
amendment, they were repeatedly persecuted against, most notably in the southern United States.
Furthermore, Mississippi never submitted the required paperwork to ratify the 13th amendment until
February 7th, 2013 (Waldron, Mississippi Officially Abolishes Slavery , 2013). Fortunately though,
slavery would still have been illegal even if Mississippi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In states such as South Carolina, the Black Codes were adjusted to prohibit the Black community from
holding any job other than Farmer or Servant ( Black Codes , 2010). Other states allowed a Black
person to be beaten should they fail to sign or renew a Labor Contract ( Black Codes , 2010). Worst of
all though, Apprenticeship laws allowed for children to be used as free labor, mainly for plantation
owners ( Black Codes , 2010). Fortunately, those in the Northern States disapproved of the Black
Codes and wanted them to be abolished ( Reconstruction , 2009/ Black Codes , 2010). The United
States Congress agreed with the public and quickly introduced the Civil Rights Act ( Reconstruction ,
2009/ Black Codes , 2010). Despite President Andrew Johnson vetoing the bill, Congress managed to
override the veto and put the bill into law ( Reconstruction , 2009/ Black Codes , 2010). As soon as the
bill was officially signed, the US government took control of the Southern Reconstruction. As a result
of the government intervening in the Reconstruction Era, Southern Blacks were soon elected into
government offices, including Congressional Seats ( Reconstruction , 2009/ Black Codes , 2010).

Elasticity of Demand
The purpose of this essay is to define elasticity of demand, cross price elasticity, income elasticity, and
explain the elastic coefficients for each. I will explain the contrast of and significance of difference
between the three. I will also explain whether demand would tend to be more or less elastic for
availability of substitutes, share of consumer income devoted to a good, and consumer s time horizon,
and give examples of each. Then, I will explain the logical impacts to business decision making that
result from each. Last, I will differentiate between perfectly inelastic demand and perfectly inelastic
demand, and illustrate the difference between the terms. Elasticity of demand, also known as price
demand elasticity, is defined as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coefficient for elasticity of demand measures the relationship between two variables. A formula
for figuring out the coefficient of elasticity of demand is: (percentage change in quantity) / (percentage
change in price). The coefficient will be the percentage change in quantity demanded in response to a
one percent change in price, and will determine is if the demand for a good is elastic (eod gt;1) or
inelastic (eod lt;1). Knowing the coefficient for the demand of a product gives a business the edge
because they will know when to make adjustments to price in order to increase the demand for a
product. Cross price elasticity, Income elasticity, and Elasticity of demand all have different
coefficient formulas. The difference between cross price elasticity and income elasticity is that cross
price elasticity measure the percentage of change in demand of a product in relation to change in
price, while income elasticity measures changes in demand in relation to changes in income. The
difference between these two and elasticity of demand is that elasticity of demand measures the
responsiveness of demand to a change in price. Elasticity of demand determines whether a company
can increase or reduce their price on a product, and is therefore detrimental to a company that is trying
to maximize their profits. Cross price

Corpse Bride Symbolism
The character that really caught my attention was Emily. Considering the fact she has been dead for
year now Burton did a splendid job creating a mysteriously alluring corpse bride. Relating death to the
color blue because blue is the coldest color, Emily is blue from head to toe except for her subtle but
sweet pink lips. Corpse Bride had me at the maggot. In multiple scenes the corpse bride s eye falls out
and a maggot comes from inside her head and gives her advice. I feel the eye falling out is to
symbolize Emily being half blind to what s going on around her. The fact that Burton can use stop

How To Write An Argumentative Essay On African American...
American Dream Argumentative Draft
Everyone thinks it s so easy and cool to join Armed Forces, but to be honest, half of them don t even
know what the effects would be when they join and after they leave the military. People usually take
our veterans for granted and they don t acknowledge what veterans have done for us and our country.
Veterans should be shown respect when they come back home, but they don t and to me that s just
disrespectful and it also shows how out of line citizens are. Everyone who has fought for their country,
chose to fight, they never had to, but because they seen that people needed to be protected, they put
their lives on the line. The least we could do is say Thank you! but no, they don t even get that and
that s really messed up. They took a bullet for this country, they lost their lives for this country, they
have nightmares every night because of things they had to see while defending this country. What do
we do to show them our appreciation though? Nothing. As a result, most veterans don t feel a sense of
belonging and loyalty to their country.
Many African American veterans salute and pledge an oath of loyalty to their country, but even after
they have protected it, they don t get protection back in return. All the black soldiers who have came
back or have been killed while in the frontline, either don t get remembered, get disrespected, or get

their drinking ages for beer and wine at 18 and in some cases at 16 year old and set the hard liquor at
21 or 18 years old. Here in the United States of America there are collectively set almost all of the

The most common argument is that when teenagers turn 18 they can sign up for the army and risk
their lives for the Untied States of America, but they cannot drink in America. Which brings up the
question how can you die for something and not be given all of the freedoms you are fighting for?
There has been reports from overseas in other counties with lower age limits that have safer highways
and better control over underage drinking. So would America`s problem with underage drinking be
solved by lowering the age limit to drink, It can by giving young adults and teenagers time to adjust to
and realize the dangers and punishment of drinking. These can be done in several way lower the

Tennis Has Long Been A Favorite Sport Of Mine Due To The
Tennis has long been a favorite sport of mine due to the constant movement and the sense of
suspension that it creates. The observer never knows what the players are going to do next with
respect to where, how hard, or even how soft they will send or hit the ball. All of this movement is not
just by chance however, physics is at work throughout every moment the ball is on the court. Starting
with the basics we must look first at force. Force can be defined as the strength or energy exerted or
brought to bear which causes motion or a change in motion. There are multiple forces acting on the
ball throughout the course of a match. The main force being exerted comes from the racket which gets
its energy from the player. Other forces acting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since hitting the ball is really how the game of tennis is played these laws of motion are very
important. Another concept that is important when looking at the physics of tennis is gravity. As
mentioned earlier, one of the main forces acting on the ball is the force the ground exerts on the ball to
make it bounce back up into the air. The force of gravity is what pulls the ball to the ground so the
ground can exert its force on the ball. Just like everything else on Earth, or any planet or celestial body
for that matter, gravity is acting on the ball at all times. Now, from the previous discussion on force we
know that force is in a direct relationship with acceleration. So, because the exact force of gravity is at
all times acting on the ball. The ball is constantly accelerating. Now, due to the force of the players on
the ball and the ground on the ball once it hits the ground it is always accelerating in different
directions; however, it will always tend to be pulled down toward the ground due to gravity. One can
calculate the exact force of gravity on the ball by multiplying the mass of the ball times the
acceleration due to gravity which is always of the value of 9.8 m/s2. Another concept of physics that
plays a role in tennis is that of momentum. We have previously discussed that the racket exerts a force
on the ball and the ball exerts a force on the

The Impact Of The 1860 Presidential Election

The 1860 presidential election of Abraham Lincoln greatly contributed to the outbreak of the Civil
War. Abraham Lincoln, born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809, served as the sixteenth president of
the United States. He was the very first Republican to serve as president, eventually leading the Union
to victory during the civil war. Lincoln opposed the idea of the expansion of slavery but acknowledged
that he would not interfere with slavery where it existed. Despite this, Southern fears that slavery

Abraham Lincoln freely expressed his hatred for slavery and it s expansion to Northern states, but he
wasn t calling for immediate emancipation. Despite this, Southerners fears that slavery would soon be
abolished by Republicans reached its peak after the presidential election. Southerners viewed the
presidential election of Lincoln as a virtual referendum regarding slavery. The 1860 presidential
election caused fear and paranoia amongst Southerners that slavery would quickly be eradicated
entirely by Lincoln and the newly formed Republican party, which ultimately illustrates the influence
the election had on the outbreak of the Civil War.
Abraham Lincoln s election as president was achieved purely by sectional voting. Lincoln did not win
a single vote from any of the Southern states. During 1805 a new political party known as the
Republican party was formed largely by those in opposition to slavery s expansion into the Northern
states. One year on from John Brown s attempted slave upheaval at Harper s Ferry, Virginia, the
national debate regarding slavery had reached boiling point. Several Southern states had threatened to

The Romans delayed in whether deciding to help out or not, but soon realized that if they didn t,

surrounding cities of the island (Morey, 1901). The Romans, though, achieved the possession of

The Romans then knew that in order to win the battle against the Carthaginians, they would need a

Carthaginian vessel that had wrecked in the coast of Italy, within 60 days (Morey, 1901). At the same

The Sociology Of A Commercial Airline Pilot Essay
This assignment focuses on analyzing the sociology of a commercial airline pilot s job and the
working environment in this increasingly influential sector. An airline pilot carries great responsibility
and their job comes with a magnitude of risks. It is both a physically and mentally demanding career
choice that requires one to remain calm under pressure whilst operating in a different time zone and
unpredictable weather conditions, as well as having to meet the health requirements such as perfect
vision and coordination (to name a few). Commercial aviation is one of the world s biggest sectors
and so the magnitude of research is immense, however the aim of this research assignment is to focus
on tensions and trends surrounding the occupation of commercial airline pilots; such as gender
inequality and stereotypes, as women continue to face gender barriers due to the industry being
dominated by males since the heyday of the aviation sector (Germain, M., Herzog, M., Hamilton, P.,
2012). Additionally the stresses surrounding the unconventional work environment, as airline
employees tend to work on eight to fifteen hour shifts, however on occasion flight delays may require
them to exceed the length of the shift (Tourigny, Vishwanath Wang, 2010). This unpredictability in
scheduling policies may contribute to an increased level of job as well as family related stress, even
burnouts in some cases, which impacts on the well being of employees. Finally the analysis concludes

According to the World Bank report Ghana has a population of approximately 25.90 million and GDP
of 47.93 billion dollars in 2013(Worldbank.org, 2014). That goes to say that there should be enough
resources to be able to implement full measures to invest in education and job creation so as to
alleviate poverty in the country. For most non Western countries, the reasons why most of these
important issues are overlooked is because of systemic corruption.
Corruption is the only logic answer that can explain the neglect of this phenomenon. Tragically, the
legislature of Ghana and in addition other African nations permits and supports these misbehaviors.
Degenerate practices are sought after for own self increase. Thus the reasons explicable for the growth

The main factors in this climate change are observed to be the increase in temperatures and the
resulting acidification of the oceans. The previously mentioned changes and others in the report are
readily observable, such as the uptake of anthropogenic carbon since 1750 that has led to the ocean
becoming more acidic, with an average decrease in pH of 0.1 units and in some instances blatantly
obvious, even to the average layperson. It is difficult to conclude what the rate of change in the future
will be and the effects of observed ocean acidification on the marine biosphere.
The report concludes, again with high confidence , that anthropogenic (human caused) warming has
had a discernible influence on many of our planets physical and biological systems. While there are
limitations and gaps in the knowledge available, particularly from undeveloped countries, the
knowledge available allowed the group to attribute most of the observed increase in the globally
averaged temperature since the mid 20th century to the observed increase in anthropogenic
greenhouse gas concentrations. The analysis was necessarily limited in the number of systems and
locations considered. In addition, natural temperature variability is larger at the regional than at the

Language is often defined as a system of communication, a way for humans to interact with one
another. Language itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show love or
hate, and could give meaning. For example an object has no identification unless the power of
language is wielded to provide it a name based on its ability and function. Language often has a great
influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures of the Hebrews and the Greeks
which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The Metamorphoses , two pieces of literature that
explains the creation of man from different ways of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew
Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and Christianity and is the most well known text of this
culture. It is also believed to be the very first book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story
taken from what is called Greek Mythology, where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of
them holding power over different things. Both texts use the power of language in different ways to
express emotion and bring things to life.
Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. Objects
usually appear before words. Things are usually seen first, then they are named, described, and given a
meaning. However that does not seem to be the case in the Book of Genesis. In Genesis, God spoke
the world into existence. Before

Jones Blair Company Case Analysis
Strategic Issues and Problems:
The Jones Blair Company competes in a 50 county area throughout Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico,
and Louisiana. Their major business and financial center is located in eleven county Dallas Fort Worth
metropolitan areas. Jones Blair Company is a privately held corporation that produces and markets
paint under the Jones Blair brand name. A large portion of the maturing paint industry, $10 billion, is
established from architectural coatings and the annual growth rate is expected to equal that of general
inflation in the coming years. Dollar sales have increased at an ... Show more content on

Brand image is important to consumers and television ads are a great way to get their name out. Most
of this population is aware of this product and only some of this population would purchase it. c) Hire
an additional sales representative
Hiring an additional sales representative will allow Jones Blair to focus on new markets. These
markets should be outside of the DFW area and allow for new cities and states to recognize Jones
Blair. d) Do Nothing (Status Quo)
Since Jones Blair has continually seen profits each year; they should maintain their current marketing
objectives and do nothing. Jones Blair has done an excellent job of this in the past by watching the
margins and controlling costs. By doing nothing, the company will not need to spend any additional
money. e)
Alternative Recommendations a.) Cut price by 20%
In 2004 architectural product sales volume was $12,000,000. Jones Blair has a current net profit of
$1.14 million, and to stay profitable it must maintain this amount.
$12,000,000*.35= $4,200,000
If Jones Blair reduced its price by 20% the contribution margin will drop to 15%.
($12,000,000)*.15 = ($1,800,000)
If the company drops the price by 20% the company will see a 33% increase in sales.
($1,800,000 * .33) =$4,200,000 ($594,000)
STRENGTHS: Jones Blair will sell more products, because it will be able to compete with its
competitors in

Pros And Cons Of Whaling
Do you agree with the Norwegian and Japanese position on permitting the hunting of non endangered
species of whales as a cultural exemption? I do not agree with the Norwegian and Japanese position
on permitting the hunting of non endangered species of whales as a cultural exemption because I just
don t approve of whaling in general. I can however see their point. For the majority of a population in
a village to depend upon whaling as their main income and/or food source would be really difficult if
it was banned. It would be a nice thing if their governments could help with job rehabilitation. Maybe
even offer incentives to change their business venture. I feel like whaling is an archaic practice these
days with so many other options to take place of the stuff harvested. Do you think the whaling ban
constitutes a violation of these nations sovereignty? I do not think the whaling ban constitues a
violation of these nations sovereignty because the ocean and its bountiful resources do not belong to
any one country. It is the planets as a whole. It is the same principal for the oil spills and other
populations and over hunting or needless killings that take place. You are not only affecting your
coastline, but the entire planet in lesser degrees that will build up over time. Countries such as Norway
and Japan are developed enough that they could find alternatives if they tried. ... Show more content

Should an international panel (such as a committee at the WTO) be asked to weigh the validity of such
claims? Who should serve on such a panel? I do believe these kinds of questions about cultural
exemptions should be settled by an international panel and asked to prove the validity of such claims.
They should brought before a world committee. I do believe they should present their case before an
international court. At best a representative from every country, but at least one from every cultural

Diego Rivera s Painting The Flower Carrier
Diego Rivera s famous painting, The Flower Carrier, is immensely encoded with significant social and
cultural messaging. Rivera paved a path for many artists to express powerful social ideas through the
medium of art and forms. The Flower Carrier allowed immeasurable masses of people to change the
way in which they interact with the world; it had the power to alter the spectator s worldview by
giving them truth through visual story telling. Examining this piece offers a clear lens into the socio
political climate of the entire time period in which it lays and continues to have political weight in our
further modernized world. The Flower Carrier is largely encoded with Marxist ideas, highlighting the
plight of the working class in the face of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diego Rivera was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, where he was began his interest in drawing at an early
age. He began his study of art at the age of ten, where he attended the San Carlos Academy of Fine
Arts in Mexico City. After years of study at the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts, Rivera left Mexico
to study art across Europe. His travels landed him at the feet of many immensely inspirational artists
and art movements. He was acquainted with Pablo Picasso during the beginning of Cubism and
adopted these influences, becoming an established artist in the time of economic unrest. Rivera began
adopting ideas of Marxism, which pushed him to understand the spectacle and power of art. Rivera
then moved back to Mexico and began using his art to empower the individual in the face of
capitalistic oppression. His early art upon his return to Mexico was focused around socially engaging
murals, highlighting the plight of the lower working class and indigenous Mexican heritage. This
medium of art spoke to the masses, gifting all citizens with the beauty of art without the bias of a
single entity. In her book, Akira to Zoltan: twenty six men who changed the world, Autor Cynthia
Chin Lee explains the significance of this medium in the way Rivera used it. She states that Rivera
wanted art for all, not just the rich, and his art decorated areas where everyone could see them: in
schools, plazas, and public buildings. (Chin Lee 7) Being free of museum bias or hegemonic forces
that would make his art a commodity, Rivera was able to speak to all citizens, regardless of their class.
His pieces related to the human condition and interpolate the viewers to understand themselves in a
new and radical fashion. This is the power that visuals and art have, to make us feel a certain emotion
or perceive the world around us in a completely

The Security Of Network Security And Web Security
The network security professionals across the globe have provided details about the attacks so that the
security software can be improved, however there are some shortcuts that can improve the security for
the time being or if the web host has a difficulty in procuring modern security software, these
techniques can help the web host to increase the security of both the web server and clients that are
connected to the web server.
The CRIME and BREACH attack both target compression that is either HTTPS or HTTP level, these
attacks also work against a number of other compressions and connections but since HTTPS and
HTTP are the most used compression levels, the security should be bolstered to protect them. The
compression can simply be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The security can also be bolstered by hiring alleged attackers that can point out the weaknesses that
are exploited and then these weaknesses can be strengthened by the security professionals.
There are also various techniques that can stop the attacker to access the LAN router so that there is
not attack initiated from the Wi Fi of a client computer. The LAN router in public places are not
extensively secure and the attackers either use these networks to initiate attack on others so that they
cannot be traced or they can simply attack the users on this network to leak information that is
important.
The protection of HTTPS connection should also be upgraded or security add ons should be created to
protect the integrity of the browser so that the client cannot be affected by the malicious JavaScript
that is sent by the attacker. There are browsers like Chrome and Mozilla which are not affected from
the attack as they have extensively worked together to ensure that security is not penetrated or
bypassed by the attacker. The other companies should also work in cooperation with each other to
ensure that their security is paramount and that attackers are minimised.
The JavaScript sends requests to a web server that is created by the attacker to capture the information
from the client so the client also needs to employ security

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Specialty Stores
VARIETY
Specialty stores may sell many different specific products, they all fall into a single category or
classification. This means that shoppers are only likely to visit the store when they have interest in the
type of products it sells. This is in contrast to department stores, which can attract customers in with
one type of product and expose them to many other types of products as they shop. Specialty stores
can be less convenient than general retailers, driving customers to one stop options if they are present
locally.
DEPENDANCE ON MARKET

inventories to accommodate changing trends in consumer buying, specialty stores risk alienating ...

Thus future holds opportunities for both the stores i.e., departmental stores and the specialty stores.
The Departmental Stores serves various categories to customers who like to have complete household
merchandise under single roof. The future of specialty stores are promising. Trends in lifestyles,
urbanization, family income, education, and new product development favour the growth of specialty
stores retailing.
The share of e Commerce is growing gradually. Customers have an ever increasing alternative of
products at the lowest rates. E Commerce is possibly creating the biggest disruption in the retail
industry and this trend will keep on in the year to come. Almost everything is sold on the internet now
and this means that pretty much all of the retail industry faces the challenge of either being a part of e
commerce or taking it head on. Both departmental stores and specialty stores can make their impact on
a wider ground on concentrating in this

The piece my ensemble piece will be performing is the Mendelssohn Quartet Op.44, movement 1. The
composer, Felix Mendelssohn was born on February 3, 1809, in Hamburg. Germany. As a son of

which gave him certain advantages such as providing him a rich and ideal cultural setting for his
artistic mind to flourish. His received good education as well. While Mendelssohn s father disliked
Jews that converted from Judaism to Christianity to gain social acceptance outside of the jewish

To What Extent Were the Nazis More Evil than Other...
To what extent were the Nazis more evil (1933 1945) than other genocidal regimes? A. Plan of
Investigation The investigation assesses the Nazi regime from 1933 1945 in regards to the totality of
their actions. In order to evaluate the Nazi regime on whether or not they were more evil than other
genocidal regimes, the investigation evaluates how the Nazis controlled their country. The
investigation will start in the early years of the Nazi regime in how they set up their totalitarian
government and how they expanded their control. Then the Holocaust will be looked at for how the
Nazis treated those they were exterminating. Accounts from soldiers and Jewish people who lived
through the Nazi control will be mostly used to evaluate if the Nazis were more evil than other
genocidal regimes. Two of the sources used in this essay, The Liberation of Dachau by Chuck Ferree,
and Fate did not let me go a letter by Valli Ollendorff are then evaluated for their origins, purposes,
values and limitations. B. Summary of Evidence The whole program to rebuild Germany was based
on the idea that Germany had been betrayed and that the only way for Germany to avenge itself upon
its enemies and put an end to the conflict that had begun in 1914 was through military action. (Nelson)
Through the bad state of the country, the Nazis were able to use propaganda that influenced the
German people to believe that it was right to punish the groups who they believed were to blame for
their

  • 2. Questions On Online Regulation On The Code Of Cyberspace LSE ID 201335899 Cyberpaternalism and Network Communitarianism sit in opposition to each other. Cyberpaternalists believe that online regulation is effected through changes in the code of cyberspace, while Network Communitarians believe that the community takes part in the regulatory dialogue through action and reaction. Can the two be reconciled? If not, which is to be preferred and why? ANSWER As we know world has undergone a digital transformation of an astonishingly wide range of material artifacts interwoven with social practices in 20th century. Lets take an example of a bank where a person sits in a wooden cabin with little scraps of paper and an adding machine and replace it with an ATM accessible 24 hours a day or an example of classroom with the teacher, blackboard, books and verbal lecture and replace it with materials presented in computer hardware and software and call it interactive learning . But the boons and banes of this digital technology require constant surveillance. Censorship is often a matter of perspectives. The legitimizing motivations behind controlling flows of information often lie in paternalistic desires to protect weaker individuals whether they are children or adults. The problem of perspectives is one of cultural relativism in the sense that we limit access to information in an effort to defend important cultural values and social stability. The purpose of this essay is to ascertain which school of thought regulating the digital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Defending Free Speech On College... Free speech on college campuses has been a widely debated topic in recent years. Because of this, the opinions held on this subject vary. In the editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses , the Editorial Board of the Chicago Tribune defends the idea of education and free speech. The Editorial Board states that students today are not receiving as useful of an education because of the barriers put on free speech. In addition, they argue that in not allowing students to feel uncomfortable, they are not receiving a true education. [A little more summary here would be helpful how does the author support these claims?] The editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses, introduces a valid logical argument on education through describing instances in which students experience uncomfortable learning situations, and the ways in which they were handled. [Hannah, your reasons here are about content, not about rhetoric what rhetorical reasons is the argument strong?] The true substance of this editorial comes from the authors use of logical appeals and its relatability to students. [These are two different ideas which is going to make your paragraph rather jumbled. How could you reorganize to make sure each paragraph is focused on a single unified idea?] The author argues the importance in not going so far in protecting undergraduates (n.p.) from controversial or touchy subjects. A substantial part of education consists of understanding your opinion, as well as, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Failure Can Impact A Children s View On Intelligence Parents and Education: How Failure Can Impact a Children s View on Intelligence There are a lot of factors that play a role in how a child performs in the educational realm. A major influencer is the role that a parent plays in their child s education specifically how the parent views failure. In this article, Parents Views of Failure Predict Children s Fixed and Growth Intelligence Mind Sets by Kyla Haimovitz and Carol S. Dweck, the question is if a parent s specific response to failure impacts the child s belief in whether intelligence is malleable or fixed. The article cites research done on multiple experiments that study: the level of a child s motivation and learning based on talent, student s belief in the malleability of intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study gathered 100 participants that were in 4th 5th grade, an average age of 11, and over half female. The participant location was three schools in the San Francisco Area. Parental consent was given. The questionnaire used to measure the intelligence mindset was identical to the one used in Study One. They also measured the children s view of how their parent s perceived failure by a two question survey: my parents think failure can help me learn and my parents think failure is bad and should be avoided (Haimovitz and Dweck 2016). The results of the study were that the reports done by the children on their parent s failure mindset predicted their own belief in either a fixed or growth mindset. Based off of the findings of these three studies, a parent s failure mindset has an effect on a children s view of intelligence more so than the parent s own view on intelligence. In a failure debilitating mindset, a child is more than likely to believe that their intelligence, or intelligence in general, is fixed and cannot be improved. This mindset manifests itself due to several factors that were studied during the experiment. First the failure mindset of a parent is more visible to the child than their intelligence mindset. Because of this visibility, a failure debilitating mindset of a parent will have a greater impact on their child than they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. How Is Rip Van Winkle A Hero Rip Van Winkle is an ineffectual male hero who cannot support his farm or family. Instead of facing the consequences of his idleness and facing his wife, who certainly makes the problem worse instead of better, he sleeps for twenty years. Finally, he is of such an age that his idleness is excusable and allowed. This makes him an antithesis to the American dream. He has no ambition, he does not work hard for himself, and he does not rise above where he began. He just likes to chat and have friends. He also sleeps through what was the defining moment of American history, and upon waking, he does not even care. This develops him as the American anti hero, for he takes no part in the country s founding or history. His story makes sense as more of an Old World story, one that the Dutch settlers, in their relatively old village, can retell. The story also shows that great historical events are often less important than the daily happenings in an individual s life. The only oppressor Rip Van Winkle cares about having overcome is his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The husband is an extreme form of deadbeat and the wife an extreme form of nagging, a state of affairs which appears to be a lesson and warning for Irving s male and female readers alike. The husbands should learn to be more industrious and attentive, and the wives should learn to be less antagonistic and more understanding lest they drive their husbands further ... • 7. The Benefits Of College Tuitions In America College tuitions in American is too expansive for the young adult who has the potential to be successful in our community. Many people were not able to attend college due to financial issues. College tuitions can go over $100,000 for a four year college. In result, they find part time jobs to pay their tuitions and spend extra time in college for total of six through seven years instead of four years to achieve their bachelor degree. In addition, many college students take loans and had to pay over $30,000 of debt after attending college (Lobosco). It s upsetting to see people especially young adults to get accept to an excellent college but unable to afford it. This has become a huge problem because we are speaking about the future of America. Snapchat aims to apply through technological means the temporal time bound paradigm that characterizes oral cultures (Soffer, 2016). An image becomes a photograph, in part, by having borders. The frame makes the photo. Tellingly, a Snapchat usually exists unframed, full screen, more moment than an art object. Less than sharing experience trophies and hoping communication happens around them, an ephemeral network leaves the art objects to fade in favor of focusing on the moments, the experience, the communication; more social than media, more social than network. (Jurgenson, 2014). The Snapchat users like the idea of a safe place where they can control what is shared with the world. Experts in the field of communication state that the ephemeral messaging compels users to do more with less, often generating a better brand. Snapchat s popularity has helped spur other private messaging apps but none are as successful as Snapchat. The real time communication protocol is what Snapchat is all about. • 10. Naturalism And Realism In Fisher Folk, Madonna And Child There are many different factors to consider when analyzing a piece of artwork such as the color pallette used, the materials used, the medium of the work, the artist, the time period it was made in, and so much more. Naturalism and idealism are two concepts, of many, that are important throughout the evolution of art. Naturalism refers to the representation of objects in their most realistic form. On the contrary, idealism attempts to hold the subject to a certain standard of perfection. Fisher Folk, undated, and Madonna and Child, finished in 1438, are two works of art that embody those two concepts very well. During a first level iconographic observation of Fisher Folk we see three people off to the right side of the painting. Two older women and a younger child are in the middle of an exchange for some fish. All three are dressed in multiple layers of ragged clothing trying to keep warm. With the landscape being overcast it makes the painting feel cold because we automatically associate gloomy skies with cold and rain. By portraying the clothes in poor condition, the artist is representing naturalism because nothing about them looks ideal or something that people would be envious over. The child is without shoes, so that s another sign that the family is poor. Naturalistic artwork strives to show the subject in the most realistic way possible. As the UMFA label states, his work expresses the reality of fishermen s families lifestyle in the 19th century. At a closer look, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Persuasive Essay About Uniforms Many different types of uniforms are currently being worn today, but the people wearing them will either hold them with an honorific or stigmatic connotation. This paints a very black and white picture, but it would be hard to find someone who would consider their uniform as both an honor and a mark of disgrace. This is a result of some uniforms being a punishment or being forced to wear, while others are earned through very hard work and dedication. Almost everyone has worn a uniform that they were proud of wearing and a uniform that they were less than enthusiastic about; however most people would agree that they distinctly remember a specific uniform they feel strongly about, whether or not it was an honorific or stigmatic one. Throughout my life I have worn many different uniforms as well, but for whatever reason the ones I have disliked always stick out to me the most. My least favorite off them all was my Sears uniform, it held so many negative thoughts in my head, it was hard to picture. The simple thought of putting it on could ruin my entire day. There were many experiences behind this, but here are a few reasons my Sears uniform was a stigmatic one. My Sears uniform represented everything I had hated about the store in the first place. The uniform was an old blue collared shirt with a cheaply made pair of khaki pants, all put together with black sneakers. These boring and bland articles of clothing were a constant reminder of the dying store I was working away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Lenin s Legacy Throughout the 1800s and into the 1900s the industrial revolution s unparalleled level of change pushed the world into a new era. While change occurred throughout this time, the most radical was the implementation of Communist ideology in Tsarist Russia. In a series of revolutions, Vladimir Lenin seized power for the Bolsheviks, establishing the world s first Communist based government. Lenin found himself in the predicament of building a state which would wither away, something Marx claimed would happen naturally. However, this had never been attempted before, and quickly Lenin found himself in a series of trial and error tests. Lenin s untimely death brought about more immense changes, as a power struggle to assume control over his legacy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lenin s revolution placed himself suddenly in a situation which Marx had never written from. The revolution occurred, Bolsheviks had seized power, and suddenly a state would have to be developed that would wither away while at the same time facing a civil crisis; a task deemed near impossible (Lecture, Hoston March 7th). Lenin s own arguments prior to this held a much more anarchical view, advocating for the abolition of the army, of long term bureaucracy, and of the police force (State and Revolution 339). These calls would not be what went into effect in the end. It is here we see the first of the many major departures from Lenin s original theory which began to address the reality Russia was in. Lenin had realized that a state had to be strong at some point, even if marching towards communism as Communism, makes the state absolutely unnecessary, for there is nobody to be oppressed (State and Revolution 375). Parents tell their children about an evil force and the good that eventually overcomes it. Children always like to cheer on the good and wish the bad away. A story s evil does bad things and hurts people, there s no reason to not side against it. There s usually no problem distinguishing evil in a story, but evil in our world gets messier. Some might call a thing someone did evil, but others don t see it the same way. Everyone has a basic idea that evil is something bad, so where does it go from there? To start off, evil should be classified as a concept. Evil at its outermost layer is just an abstract idea. There is a definition, and some might say that the definition of evil changes from person to person, but truthfully it s their perspective. The waitress of a restaurant may not see evil in something that the boy next door does despite the fact that they do have the same definition of evil. If one treats beverage alcohol as a dangerous substance to be avoided and not even advertised, he or she inadvertently can raise it up from the ordinary into the range of the powerful, the tantalizing, and the desirable Big Deal. Alcohol addiction is a very serious and life threatening illness. Everything can get ruined in one s life. Using air as a control the experiment was conducted using different time intervals. In air the apple yielded little to no browning. This is due to an oxidation reaction occurring within the apple. the enzyme polyphenol oxidase speeds up the reaction causing the discolouration to change quickly, as can be seen in the results after only seven minutes. Mellidou, I., et. Al, 2014, p.1) Compared to the air the deionized water caused the apple to appear browner than in the control. this is due to the lack of enzymes and neutral ph levels. The ph levels and lack of ions allowed the reaction to occur because the water no longer contained the materials to stop/ slow down the reaction as regular non deionized would. (Kim, M. J., Hung, Y, 2014, p.543) After being sprayed with lemon juice the apple slice appeared to have not changed colour. This is due to the presence of vitamin c and the low ph that prolonged the oxidation reaction. . (The last word, 2003, p.1) finally the apple kept in the fridge showed presence of little discolouration. This is due to the fact that apples stay fresher in lower conditions. the fridge temperature was lower however the air still includes high levels of oxygen and low levels of carbon dioxide. This means that the reaction still occurred just in a much longer time. As shown in the table above the air showed similar results to the fridge except ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One type of culture that was very interesting was the Pre Columbian Maya culture of Mesoamerica. The natural environment that the Mayans lived in offered a wealth of materials and ideas to give works of beautiful art. The Maya used ceramics every day, small cups for drinking vessels, tall cylinders for storing and pouring ritual beverages, and plates for all sorts of delicious foodstuffs, from tamales to corncakes served with sauces ( Miller 190). • 22. Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily... Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case, no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars estimate ranged from 1858 1865. The coefficient for elasticity of demand measures the relationship between two variables. A formula for figuring out the coefficient of elasticity of demand is: (percentage change in quantity) / (percentage change in price). The coefficient will be the percentage change in quantity demanded in response to a one percent change in price, and will determine is if the demand for a good is elastic (eod gt;1) or inelastic (eod lt;1). Knowing the coefficient for the demand of a product gives a business the edge because they will know when to make adjustments to price in order to increase the demand for a product. Cross price elasticity, Income elasticity, and Elasticity of demand all have different coefficient formulas. The difference between cross price elasticity and income elasticity is that cross price elasticity measure the percentage of change in demand of a product in relation to change in price, while income elasticity measures changes in demand in relation to changes in income. The difference between these two and elasticity of demand is that elasticity of demand measures the responsiveness of demand to a change in price. Elasticity of demand determines whether a company can increase or reduce their price on a product, and is therefore detrimental to a company that is trying to maximize their profits. Cross price ... The observer never knows what the players are going to do next with respect to where, how hard, or even how soft they will send or hit the ball. All of this movement is not just by chance however, physics is at work throughout every moment the ball is on the court. Starting with the basics we must look first at force. Force can be defined as the strength or energy exerted or brought to bear which causes motion or a change in motion. There are multiple forces acting on the ball throughout the course of a match. The main force being exerted comes from the racket which gets its energy from the player. Other forces acting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since hitting the ball is really how the game of tennis is played these laws of motion are very important. Another concept that is important when looking at the physics of tennis is gravity. As mentioned earlier, one of the main forces acting on the ball is the force the ground exerts on the ball to make it bounce back up into the air. The force of gravity is what pulls the ball to the ground so the ground can exert its force on the ball. Just like everything else on Earth, or any planet or celestial body for that matter, gravity is acting on the ball at all times. Now, from the previous discussion on force we know that force is in a direct relationship with acceleration. So, because the exact force of gravity is at all times acting on the ball. The ball is constantly accelerating. Now, due to the force of the players on the ball and the ground on the ball once it hits the ground it is always accelerating in different directions; however, it will always tend to be pulled down toward the ground due to gravity. One can calculate the exact force of gravity on the ball by multiplying the mass of the ball times the acceleration due to gravity which is always of the value of 9.8 m/s2. Another concept of physics that plays a role in tennis is that of momentum. We have previously discussed that the racket exerts a force on the ball and the ball exerts a force on the ... • 40. The Medieval Warm Period And The Little Ice Age We all know that atmosphere is continually evolving. We have had ice ages and hotter periods when gators were found in Spitzbergen. Ice ages have happened in a hundred thousand year cycles for the last 700 thousand years. There also have been time periods that seemed to have been hotter than the present in spite of CO2 levels being lower than they are currently. Overall what I am saying is that we have had the medieval warm period and the little ice age. Because of these evolutions there has been different effects on the earth. Some of these effects of evolution include global warming. There are many different effects of global warming that occur all over the world. • 41. The Power Of Language The Power of Language Language is often defined as a system of communication, a way for humans to interact with one another. Language itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show love or hate, and could give meaning. For example an object has no identification unless the power of language is wielded to provide it a name based on its ability and function. Language often has a great influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures of the Hebrews and the Greeks which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The Metamorphoses , two pieces of literature that explains the creation of man from different ways of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and Christianity and is the most well known text of this culture. It is also believed to be the very first book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story taken from what is called Greek Mythology, where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of them holding power over different things. Both texts use the power of language in different ways to express emotion and bring things to life. Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. Objects usually appear before words. Things are usually seen first, then they are named, described, and given a meaning. However that does not seem to be the case in the Book of Genesis. In Genesis, God spoke the world into existence. Before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Pros And Cons Of Whaling Do you agree with the Norwegian and Japanese position on permitting the hunting of non endangered species of whales as a cultural exemption? I do not agree with the Norwegian and Japanese position on permitting the hunting of non endangered species of whales as a cultural exemption because I just don t approve of whaling in general. I can however see their point. For the majority of a population in a village to depend upon whaling as their main income and/or food source would be really difficult if it was banned. It would be a nice thing if their governments could help with job rehabilitation. Maybe even offer incentives to change their business venture. I feel like whaling is an archaic practice these days with so many other options to take place of the stuff harvested. Do you think the whaling ban constitutes a violation of these nations sovereignty? I do not think the whaling ban constitues a violation of these nations sovereignty because the ocean and its bountiful resources do not belong to any one country. It is the planets as a whole. It is the same principal for the oil spills and other populations and over hunting or needless killings that take place. In her book, Akira to Zoltan: twenty six men who changed the world, Autor Cynthia Chin Lee explains the significance of this medium in the way Rivera used it. She states that Rivera wanted art for all, not just the rich, and his art decorated areas where everyone could see them: in schools, plazas, and public buildings. (Chin Lee 7) Being free of museum bias or hegemonic forces that would make his art a commodity, Rivera was able to speak to all citizens, regardless of their class. Plan of Investigation The investigation assesses the Nazi regime from 1933 1945 in regards to the totality of their actions. In order to evaluate the Nazi regime on whether or not they were more evil than other genocidal regimes, the investigation evaluates how the Nazis controlled their country. The investigation will start in the early years of the Nazi regime in how they set up their totalitarian government and how they expanded their control. Then the Holocaust will be looked at for how the Nazis treated those they were exterminating. Accounts from soldiers and Jewish people who lived through the Nazi control will be mostly used to evaluate if the Nazis were more evil than other genocidal regimes.
