Sample Case Study Of Nyla Yaites
Introduction Nyla Yaites is an African American female, four years and eleven months of age. Nyla
was chosen for this case study because she seems to be a very interesting young girl. We attend the
same church and she has always greeted me with a pleasant smile and hug. Nyla appears to have a
sophisticated vocabulary, playful character, and seems to be well behaved for a four year old. I am
very excited about observing her for this case study. Since she was two years old, Nyla has attended
preschool at Saintsville Prep Academy. According to her teacher, she has learned her colors and
alphabet. Nyla has already mastered spelling her name. She loves playing pretend house and school.

because she wanted water. Her mom wouldn t let her drink from the water fountain because it s germy

returned to gymnastics happy. Both of Nyla s parents normally accompany her to dance/gym glass. It
has been suggested that fathers attachment role during the preschooler years helps to challenge the
child in a supportive context that complements the mother s role in caring and comforting (Roggman
et al. 2002). Nyla s teacher also indicated that when Nyla gets too hot playing she will take a break
and hold conversations with teachers. Once she is cooled off, she is back to playing with her friends. It
seems that Nyla is knowledgeable enough to when her body needs to take a break, and she indicates
that she is mature enough to know when she is physically ready to return to play without abusing this
break. Reflective Summary and

Linda Holmes Television 2015
Television is one of the newest, fastest growing forms of entertainment to come along in the last one
hundred years. While many argue that the rapid expansion of this genre has caused an increase in
lower quality programs (or too much television), others believe that this event is part of the
development to coincide with its new audience. Two such articles address different opinions on this
issue. Linda Holmes, author of Television 2015: Is There Really Too Much TV? , published her article
under the popular culture section on NPR s website. Holmes s opinion surrounds the premise that due
to an immense growth in television programming, it has resulted in a multitude of lesser quality
shows. While she agrees that this volume of shows is an undertaking for any individual to watch,
Holmes argues it is impossible for a single genre to have too much content. ... Show more content on

Club website. He states that while there is a new landscape of television emerging, it is not necessarily
a good or bad thing. VanDerWerff describes that because each generation thinks they are superior to
the one before it, the format of television is changing to become more personalized to each viewer
(hence, the growth television programs). These two articles, similar in message and views, attempt to
sway the readers to form similar opinions as the authors. Although Holmes and VanDerWerff both
write about the effects of television on certain time periods, VanDerWerff s article is more convincing
due to his effectiveness in acknowledging the audience, valid credibility, and logical reasoning within

Example Of Introvert And Extroverts
since colonising many psychiatrist has brain stormed the terms introvert and extrovert, no body has
actually been fully sure what makes some people have affinity for constant social involvement and
others bound from it. But latterly , science has begun doing some analysis on this front and their
outcomes shows that introverts and extroverts are born that way, not been made. Though many people
are not familiar with the term introversion and often think of it as being shy and mistakes extroversion
with being over friendly, the terms are actually assigned to their relationship with people. Extroverts
links being social to actually feeling confident and soul nourishing whereas introverts find it taxing

Conclusion points After going through many research papers and reading articles one can conclude
that being an introvert or an extrovert is in fact a condition. Introverts are preferably fine speaking out
loud or being a little extroverted when the time needs. That does not mean that all introverts and
extroverts behave in this particular manner but this is one of the possibilities. both of the terms
contemplative people and outgoing individuals have turned out to be focal parts of the identity
hypotheses. As indicated by numerous hypotheses of identity, everybody has some level of both
introspection and extraversion. In any case, individuals regularly tend to lean one way or the other.
Self observers have a tendency to be all the more tranquil, held, and contemplative. Dissimilar to
outgoing people who pick up vitality from social cooperation, self observers need to consume vitality
in social circumstances. Subsequent to going to a gathering or investing energy in an extensive
gathering of individuals, thoughtful people frequently want to revive by investing a timeframe

Sleep Apnea Research Paper
Sleep apnea is a chronic sleep disorder which causes repeated cessation of breath (apnea) while a
person is sleeping. Some characteristics of sleep apnea are loud snoring, breathlessness, waking up
from sleep, and daytime sleepiness. It is estimated that only 2 4% of the general population has sleep
apnea.1 3 Compared to the general population, sleep apnea is much more common in patients with
end stage renal disease (ESRD). The prevalence of sleep apnea in ESRD patients, according to many
reports, fall between 50 and 60%.2 4This estimate mainly derives from self report questionnaire

the tone for the relationship between the client and therapist. It can be related to the term first

demanding or what may seem to the client inappropriate way there is a good chance that the client
may not be open to speak about the problem and develop trust issues with the social worker and any

How would you contract with a resistant client? I would recognize the behavior and try to understand

best we can at helping you out with some of your issues. I think that body language is the imperative
when working with a resistant client. 5. What are some alternate assessment approaches in
professional practice that are discussed in the text? Which of these would you find the most useful?
According to Shulman (2012),some alternate assessment approaches are the social work networking
map and the culturagram. I find the networking map the most useful in because the clients are able to
have a visual picture of their life and most people are visual learners so I think that this would be the
most effective. Clients need to know who is actually supporting them, because from my experience
clients tend to push away the people that will or are supporting them. But they welcome people who
do not support them. For example a drug user may not want to be around their family, but their family
may be the best support they have. However a drug user may welcome other drug users because they
have something in common, even though there is not support in the so called

The Importance Of Wolves To Yellowstone National Park
When the wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National park, the wolves prey decreased in
populations, and the producers had increases in population. In The Importance of Predators, the
Yellowstone Case, it shows that the Yellowstone valley had birds, bison, and beavers 150 years ago.
Then in 1995, wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone after being killed in the 1930 s. These wolves
ate animals such as the bison, whose population was starting to vanish in Yellowstone. This shows that
due to the wolves reintroduction, bison was lost, which was one of the wolves main prey. Another
piece of evidence is that the beaver population increased vastly during the wolves reintroduction in
1995. Beavers, which are not wolf prey, need willow trees

Social Networking Sites A Way Of Life And A Prominent Form...
Social Networking Sites Social networking sites (SNS) have become a way of life and a prominent
form of communication. They provide a platform for users to professionally network, to socialize, to
share personal adventures and achievements, and to express emotions and feelings. SNS allow users to
observe family members, friends, acquaintances, or even strangers and learn what activities they are
participating in or how they might be feeling at any given moment. With access to an abundance of
information about others at the tap of a finger, lives have been consumed and overwhelmed with this
new form of technology. From 2005 to 2015, nearly two thirds of American adults report they use
SNS and 90% of young adults, age 18 to 29, are involved with social media (Perrin, 2015). Social
networking sites have changed the way people live their everyday life. Sherry Turkle, a clinical

circumstances. When teaching a child to follow certain behaviors you have to have a method of

proper thing to do is the proper thing to do, so to speak. Just because a child can talk doesn t mean she

The Current Mental Health Policies Essay
Policies have an important role in regulating and shaping the values in a society. The issues related to
mental health are not only considered as personal but also affecting the relationships with significant
others. The stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health can be traced to the lack of
legislation and protection of rights (Rodriguez del Barrio et al., 2014). The policy makers in mental
health have a challenging task to protect the rights of individuals as well as the public (Swigger
Heinmiller, 2014). Therefore, it is essential to analyse the current mental health policies. In Canada,
provinces adopt their own Mental Health Acts (MHA) to implement mental health services. As of
January 15, 2016, there are 13 mental health acts in Canada (Gray, Hastings, Love, O Reilly, 2016).
The key elements, despite the differences in laws, are (1) involuntary admission criteria, (2) the right
to refuse treatment, and (3) who has the authority to authorize treatment (Browne, 2010). The current
act in Ontario is Mental Health Act, 1990. The Ontario Mental Health Act has adopted a broad
definition of mental health. The term broad has been defined as any disease or disability in mind
(Mental Health Act, 1990 as cited in Gray et al., 2016). Apart from Ontario, only Quebec has adopted
such a definition to mental health. Other jurisdictions have been more specific in defining mental
health (Gray et al., 2016). The authors pointed out that the mental health act in

Coca Cola Scandal Essay
1. Do you think Coca Cola will surpass the scandals around the world like it did in the past?
Coca Cola is a big recognized brand that produces many products than just soda drinks. With all the
money and brand recognition the company possesses, there are possibilities for the company to past
the scandals and keep up in the business market, like we have discovered the company has invested
money to cover illicit activities. However, it is very important for the company to act ethically and
respond to the scandals that the company has been accused. If Coca Cola responds morally correct, it
will shows the customers that the company cares about social responsibility, but if the company does
not act fast and ethically, it exists the possibilities that the company s sales keep declining.
2. Do some extra research, do you think all the news and rumors are true?
By doing some research about the company, I found many articles where Coca Cola is involved in
different scandals like; environmental issues, animal testing, business practices, health isssues,
employee issues, lawsuits, etc. Such a big accusations have strong facts who supported what it is being
told, which make it very difficult to not believe in those rumors. I cannot say that I believe in all
rumors, but I do believe there is some kind of true inside the rumors. It is very sad to think how
companies can get to the point of acting illegally and unethically to obtain market power like Coca
Cola has been doing in the past

Paramount s BATNA was to air the show on CBS in the event that NBC did not agree to a higher
licensing fee and extending Frasier for an additional three (3) years.
What is your best estimate of NBC s reservation price (walk away price)?
Reservation price is the price or point at which you are indifferent between doing the deal and not
doing the deal. The reservation price should always reflect the BATNA. The reservation value has
nothing to do what with what you hope to pay, what you should pay, or what is a fair price in the
negotiation. In NBC s case, NBC s reservation price should be approximately $5.5 million dollars per
episode. This represents the current break even license fee.
What is your best estimate of Paramount s reservation price (walk away price)?
Since Mark Graboff a former lawyer and a past employee for CBS as CBS s Business Affairs, he had
insight of CBS s economics. With Mark s estimation of CBS break even license fee, the reservation
price should be $3million with NBC.

Comparing Sea Turtles And Sea Turtles
Sea turtles are one of the most beautiful creatures in the ocean. They have been on this earth for more
than 110 million years in the era of dinosaurs. These guys have always caught my interest mostly due
to cuteness and how unique they are. They have always been my favorite because they are so peaceful
When I was younger, I had pet turtle named Shella, and she was absolutely my most favorite pet I
could ever ask for. Unfortunately, she was getting very big for her tank and would constantly had to be
cleaned and had a strong stench. We eventually took her and released her to a nearby lake.
Sea turtles do not really do much other than reproduce and looking pretty. They spend most of their
lives in water close to warm temperature and near the coast and their life span can be lived up to about
80 years. Although they are not on top of the food chain in the ocean, they use the outer shell to help
them survive and for use for protection around their body. The shell (carapace) not only helps protects
them but is also to help sea turtles swim with ease. You can tell the difference between a sea turtle and
a land turtle from many ways. Some observations you can make is the location of where you see them.
They are sometimes bigger than the average turtle and have softer shell. If you also notice how sea
turtles cannot retract their heads and legs into their shell when they are frightened or resting. Some,
but not all have a distinct color, sea turtles have a green and yellow pattern

The Pros And Disadvantages Of The European Monetary Union
The European Monetary Union is distinguished by a general monetary policy and in the same time,
also by twelve national fiscal policies from the member states. The European Monetary Union is
unique and different in term of operating mechanism as it lacks a central fiscal authority. The intention
of the absence of a central fiscal authority is to establish a similar construction of the organisation,
with a fiscal decentralization (Furceri, 2004). Analysts contend that the carefully management of the
European Monetary Union will boost a positive relationship between the free trade of the member
states and the monetary system itself, since, the monetary system will be able to reduce the cost of

The division of fiscal transfer mechanism instead of having a single mechanism has been criticized for
two main reasons (Furceri, 2004). Firstly, the ordinary monetary policy of European Monetary Union
has been commonly known to cause asymmetric effects among the member states. The asymmetric
effect of the monetary policy will be unable to ensure the status of economy of the whole European
Union. Next, it is possible that the single fiscal policy of the countries involving in European Union
will be ineffective in smoothing cyclical fluctuations of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) around the
potential level. GDP, which is one of the principal indicator to determine the size of the economy of a
country, should be maintained around the potential level to ensure a healthy growth of economy.
However, the implement of single fiscal policy in European Union is inefficient to reduce the impacts
of continual change of GDP. If the problem of asymmetric shocks continued, the imbalance
contribution of economy among the member states will become more

Intrinsic And Extrinsic Factors Of Skin Aging
Skin aging is a process that naturally occurs in human beings from birth and is different in each person
due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. To find out what has the most influence on the human skin, both
factors need to be fully researched. You can also look at other details to do with skin aging like the
process of it, the appearance of it and how it can be prevented. Both factors will be covered as both
are completely different processes of the skin aging. It would be true to say that not all 70 year old
females have the same skin, as many factors will affect how the skin of a 70 year old could look.
Time and age associated exposure characteristics, such as obesity and duration of exposure, are the

Aging of the skin has many different factors contributing towards it and those factors fit into two
different categories; extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic includes a group of factors that people can
influence themselves such as smoking, diet, sun damage and skin care. Intrinsic factors are those that
are part of the natural aging process such as genetics and hormones. Skin aging is also affected by skin
type, gender, age and ethnicity which can alter the aging process also.

environmental disasters. Majorities of the chaos still have effects on people living in coastal areas.
Because of the Earth s large capacity of water and relationship with gravity, tidal waves through
extreme tidal storms are created. The Moon heavily influences the movement of Earth s tides by
shifting and relating land features, using its gravitational pull to change the height of the tides, and
also affecting the speed of the Moon s revolution. To start, the Earth s aquatic tides are the constant

force between the Sun and Moon ( The ). Because of important use of mainly sunlight, land tides
occur most near the Equator and not often in the poles. These tides happen in four cycles: the lunar
diurnal, lunar semidiurnal, solar diurnal, and solar semidiurnal ( Tides ). Diurnal tides last 24 hours
while semidiurnal tides only last 12 hours. During a land tide, the center of the Earth to the outer crust
takes time to deform under the Moon and Sun ( The ). The deformation takes toll on geological
processes and volcanic eruptions ( Tides ). To include, scientists found that volcanic eruptions and
tides have a relationship because of the magma flowing in volcanoes. Geologists use specific
instruments like: seismometers, tiltmeters, and strainmeters to measure slow shifts. Results from these
tools are placed on a graph to view the various movements of Earth. In 1978, Spahr Webb, former
M.I.T student, measured with two thirty six feet tiltmeters and found a tidal tilt in Earth s surface that
was .01 of an inch (Wylie

The Red Convertible By Louis Erdrich Summary
Many different aspects of The Red Convertible written by Louis Erich simultaneously reflect the
theme of her story. Though, many people believe the effects of war are strictly cast upon the soldier.
However In addition to the casualties the soldiers face, there are also further reaching effects to the
family members as well as friends of the soldiers, such as strained relationships and the lack of
communication. Erdrich reveals the possible effects war can have on soldiers and the people who care
about that soldier. Some of the effects are PTSD, strain in relationships, depression, and even suicide.
Erdrich s story sheds some light on the mental problems some soldiers had to face after the Vietnam
war. In her story she gives a glimpse of how a soldier who has faced an unbearable amount of pain and
fear, struggles to be reintroduced into society. During the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Henry was sent to the war, there were many instances in the story where light resembled a
sense of well being and happiness. Henry and Lyman spent many summery days in Alaska, spending
time together. Lyman states, The sun doesn t truly set there in the summer, and the nights here are
more of a soft dusk (Erdrich 2). The seemingly endless days in Alaska, symbolize an seemingly
endless supply of happiness. Even the problematic moments have an upside because the light never
completely leaves. Unfortunately later on in the story, the meaning of light shifts to something more
tense. Lyman looks at a picture of Henry. Lyman states, It was so sunny Henry had to squint against
the glare (Erdrich 6) There are two shadows curved like little hooks around the ends of his smile, as if

Descriptive Essay On Getting A Dog
One of my favorite memories I have is getting my dog, Daisy. Even though I had two dogs before this
dog was special. It was a lot of work to get her and it made me more appreciate that I actually got a
dog.
My step sister Mia and I were asking for a dog for a long time. We would always watch The Animal
Channel show about dogs or vet, and it would make us think about how much we wanted a dog. Both
of us had dogs before, but we did not have one anymore, we either got rid of them or they were with
our other parent we didn t live with. So we would keep asking my dad over and over and bribe him by
saying we would clean the house and clean and take care of the dog. One day before my sisters dance
recital Mia and I were in the middle of watching TV when we saw an ad for a free dog we ran outside
and begged for a dog. So he said he would think about it if we all could behave and keep the house
clean. So we worked our hardest to keep the house clean, from cleaning my little brother s bedroom to
cleaning both bathrooms. He lived up to his promise and started looking at dogs on Facebook we
found one that was close by in Norwich and we were so excited when we found out that we were
going to meet him after my brothers game. We were so excited at the game that we walked around to
pass the time we sat on the dock at the park next to the field and were so excited we thought looking
in the river would help pass time but it really made it go by slower. When we got in the car after the

PEST Analysis on British Airways Essay
PEST Analysis on British Airways
The four different environments are often referred to as PEST and allow a PESTanalysis to be
conducted this allows the organisation to review and consider the environment in which it operates.
The PEST factor that has contributed to the airlines industry for many years, but has brought a drastic
change was from the disaster on September 11th
2001.
Political environment concerns the role of the government and its affects in an organisation it also
includes the extent to which the government intervenes in the economy. Due to the terrorist attack
many airlines such as British Airways stopped flights to certain countries such as the middles east and
the main countries involved with the fear

The main issue that would affect the airline, that would be seen as a short term effect would be that a
company share values have decreased rapidly. However this is not a long term worry, as things would
eventually start getting back to normal, share value would increase. The British economy has lost put,
as many people are scared to fly into America, and therefore the demand is low to travel, however the
supply is high, this could be a dangerous factor for the small airline companies that do not have
enough funding in the first place, now they are literally on the verge of bankruptcy.
Social environment is of great importance when being applied to different organisations, in case the
airline industry. The short term affect that the social factor has on the airline industry is that, people
have cut down on using flying as a mean of travel after the
September 11th incident. Many of the flights have been cancelled from
America, this resulting to financial difficulties for British Airways.
The long term affect that is going to have is that if there are not as many passengers, then the amount
of staff that the companies have hired are no longer needed. However there are some people that have
not been affected by the September 11th incident, many people have taken this as an advantage, of
cheaper tickets. This however is a short term affect, due to as soon as

Ex Machina Movie Analysis
The science fiction film Ex Machina revolves around an experimental study of one particular robot.
This film challenges the power of advanced technology. In the film, a young man, Caleb, agrees to
study and analyze a female robot named Ava. Ava is a robot with certain abilities that no other robot
has. While studying Ava, Caleb comes to the conclusion that he should help her escape from Nate, her
creator. Caleb eventually comes up with a plan to free Ava. However, it turns out that Ava only used
Caleb so that she could escape alone. Ava never really had any feelings for Caleb. Ava then proceeds
her plan on escaping by killing Nate and leaving Caleb locked up in a room. Ava then steps out in the
real world to live her life. Although Caleb did could not see them, there were numerous signs
throughout the film that proved that Ava was a conscious, self aware, thinking being. Unfortunately,
Caleb was blinded by his fears and hesitations that he could not see Ava s true intentions. In addition,

respond to question, but also to ask them. Ava makes certain moves on Caleb which begins to cloud
his judgements. Overall, these questions and answers must come from a mind of some sort. In
philosophy, there is the idea that minds and bodies need to interact with each other in order to create a
sense of personality. Since Ava clearly has a body and a mind, she fits well into this category of
philosophy. This means that if Ava has a personality of some sort she must be a conscious and self

Children s Socialization And Control Of Children Before...
1. What role did the family play in the socialization and control of children before the 1800s? During
the Middle Ages and through the 1500s and 1600s, the family served as the primary unit of social
control. Within the family, power was typically vested in the father, and the mother and the children
were expected to obey his commands. However, the nuclear family of today was relatively rare in the
middle ages. Rather, a typical family consisted of an extended group of related people and other
individuals who were not related. The father, particularly if he was a merchant, might spend
considerable time away from the home. High mortality rates meant that either parent might have died
and been replaced by a stepparent. In addition, servants, apprentices, and journeymen sometimes lived
in the household, and neighbors were often present. Consequently, children were exposed to a large
number of adults who played a role in their socialization and control.
2. What role did children play in the colonization of the New World? Children were counted on to play
an important role in the expansion of European influence and became an integral part of plans to
colonize the New World. Indeed, for some people, the colonization of the New World was viewed as
an opportunity for children to be involved in productive work. Merchants saw children as potential
providers of the labor that would be needed to produce the many goods necessary for survival in the
colonies. Some people felt that work was

Abortion Report Essay examples
Abortion Report
I have chosen for my topic Abortion. I think that it is a topic that is very important in today s society
however it is often dodged or avoided.
Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know
what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes
the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only
her business. So basically they want it to remain legal. Then there is the other stance of Pro Life which
says that it should not remain legal and that it is just about as bad as cold blooded murder. I happen to
agree with this.
This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several cases have been fought for the right to choose. Many of these have been hard cases but they
stuck with it, and many people believe that that is why we have some of the rights we do today. Here
are some important cases:
1. 1965 Griswold vs. Connecticut. Upheld the right to privacy and ended the ban on birth control.
Eight years later, the Supreme Court ruled the right to privacy included abortions.
2. 1973 Roe vs. Wade. The state of Texas had outlawed abortions. The
Supreme Court declared the law unconstitutional, bur refused to order an injunction against the state.
On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court voted the right to privacy included abortions.
3. 1976 Planned Parenthood vs. Danforth. Ruled that requiring consent by the husband and the
consent from a parent if a person was under 18 was unconstitutional. This case supported a woman s
control over her own body and reproductive system.
To conclude about Pro Choice I will state what Dana Pentoney has said:
Abortion deals with one s private life and should have nothing to do with the government. However,
abortion should not be used as a means of birth control, but if a fetus will be unwanted, it is better to
be aborted than to be abused or neglected. Now onto Pro Life. This is what

Essay Classical and Post-Classical Hollywood Cinema
Classical and Post Classical Hollywood Cinema
INTRODUCTION
During the course of this essay it is my intention to discuss the differences between Classical
Hollywood and post Classical Hollywood. Although these terms refer to theoretical movements of
which they are not definitive it is my goal to show that they are applicable in a broad way to a cinema
tradition that dominated Hollywood production between 1916 and 1960 and which also pervaded
Western Mainstream Cinema (Classical Hollywood or Classic Narrative Cinema) and to the
movement and changes that came about following this time period (Post Classical or New
Hollywood). I intend to do this by first analysing and defining aspects of Classical Hollywood and
having done that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have a white male heterosexual protagonist. Also a structure of order/disorder/order restored is one
of the most fundamental. This structure is will proceed in a linear trajectory towards a high level of
closure or resolution. Every question which is raised during the film must be answered. Within our
linear trajectory we have a cause and effect pattern which means we will watch an action in one scene
and proceed to see its effect or re action on the following scene. In TOUCH OF EVIL (Orson Welles,
USA, 1958) we open with a honeymooning couple. Within moments there is an explosion and
disorder is created almost instantly. Our central protagonist, in this case Charlton Heston, combats this
disorder for the duration until he eventually finishes back in the arms of his wife. This example
represents what David Bordwell (Narration of the fiction film, Madison: University of Wisconsin
press, 1985) means when he says usually the classical syuzhet presents a double causal structure 2.
Two plot lines, one which involves a heterosexual romance and another which causes an external
struggle (usually for the man and if for the woman inevitably solved by the man).
Classical Gender Representation:
In Classical Hollywood the representation of women is certainly quite clear cut, our main two
definable types being that of the virgin and that of the whore. Our virgin represents the patriarchal
ideals of family within which at the time a woman should represent

The Principle Of The Glandular Fever Test
1) What is the organism responsible for the occurrence of IM? What patient group is mainly affected?
The organism responsible for the occurrence of IM is the Epstein Barr virus (EBV). This virus belongs
to the Herpes group and was first identified in cultured cells from biopsies of Burkitt s Lymphoma.
The patient group that is mainly affected are 15 to 25 year olds. Infants and younger children have
been affected, but the virus is very rarely found in middle aged or elderly people.
2) Explain the principle of the glandular fever test.
A patient sample is added to an absorbent pad on the test strip which contains bovine erythrocyte
glycoprotein. The patient sample mobilises the blue microspheres that are contained in the test strip
and they move up the strip. The test strip contains a region of immobilised bovine erythrocyte
glycoprotein in the result window. If any IM heterophile antibodies are present in the specimen, then a
blue line should appear in the result window. The Clearview IM test strips used in the laboratory
provides an integrated control feature.
3) What is a heterophile antibody?
A heterophile antibody is an antibody produced in one species that reacts with the cells from another
unrelated species. These antibodies, which are IgM in nature, are not specific for sheep red cells but
also react with horse and ox, but NOT human, red cells.
4) What are atypical lymphocytes and how do they appear on: a) blood film, b) graphics plot?

AMCL Essay
The UCL is crucial for valgus stability, maintaining the appropriate angle of the elbow away from the
body, of the elbow and is the primary elbow stabilizer. As stated in Haan et al. (2011), the AMCL is
divided in two functional components and is taut throughout the full range of flexion and extension
because the components are alternatively tightening throughout this range of motion. The posterior
part of the AMCL is taut from eighty degrees flexion to full flexion; in contrast, the anterior part of the
AMCL is taut in extension.
The AMCL is a stronger ligament than the PMCL, acting as the primary medial ligamentous joint

According to Kacprowicz (2017), in order to properly diagnose and treat any injury to the UCL, a
comprehensive understanding of the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the UCL in overhead
throwing sports is imperative. The anterior bundle of the UCL is particularly susceptible to injury. The
study by Awh (2010) reports that, These injuries are often associated with those of the flexor pronator
muscle tendon unit, a stabilizer at the medial elbow. Strains and/or fatigue of the dynamic stabilizers
may cause increased tears of the UCL. The posterior bundle of the UCL is not as vulnerable for injury
since it does not play a large role in the overhead throwing motion.
Acute tears of the anterior bundle of the UCL can be seen on high quality MR images. Edema,
abnormal laxity, and discontinuity of the ligament are all signs of UCL disruption. Partial tears can be
diagnosed with edema and focal areas of discontinuity with residual intact fibers. However, according
to Awh (2010), with complete tears, laxity is more apparent and edema and/or disorganized soft tissue
extend across the width of the anterior bundle. With proper inspection, one can identify both the site
and severity of UCL injury.
Langer et al. (2016) discusses that, despite excellent reported outcomes in the operative management
of UCL injuries in throwing athletes, debate remains over the

John Grady sets out on horseback to Mexico with his best friend Lacey Rawlins in search of the

However, he doesn t see beyond the repercussions of owning a ranch, the dedication and responsibility
associated with running a ranch. Mr. Franklin teaches him to look beyond the fact that owning a ranch

In his journey across the landscape of Mexico, John s character in the novel begins to transform. He is
beginning to move away from that boyish and naive kind of behavior and more towards the middle
stage of between being a boy and a man; adolescence. McCarthy spends a great deal in describing
John s adolescent s stage in this novel. Much of the time that McCarthy describes in this stage is when
they are out on the prairie with the horses connecting with nature. This connection allows John to have
and a clearer understanding that there is a divine line between men and horses and that you can t apply
the same characteristics that you would apply to a horse to a man. In one instance, after a long day of

A Raisin in the Sun
Though there was a heightened sense of tension over civil rights in the late 1950s when A Raisin in the
Sun was written, racial inequality is still a problem today. It affects minorities of every age and
dynamic, in more ways than one. Though nowadays it may go unnoticed, race in every aspect alters
the way African Americans think, behave, and react as human beings. This is shown in many ways in
the play as we watch the characters interact. We see big ideas, failures, and family values through the
eyes of a disadvantaged group during an unfortunate time in history. As Martin Luther King said,

Nonverbal Communication And Nonverbal Behavior
Research Paper 1 Nonverbal Communication Nonverbal communication includes all aspects of
communication other than words (Wood, 2013).
Nonverbal Communication Indispensable Compliment of Oral and Written Communication Dinica s
article in Procedia, Social and Behavioral Sciences from 2014 researched how nonverbal behavior
aids communication by observing how animals communicate, since humans are the only species to use
language as their main form of communication. While there were some similarities between animal s
and human s nonverbal behaviors, they discovered that thanks to language, humans have adapted to
using their words to communicate information more and pick up on less nonverbal cues. Animal
communication was limited based on their body features and the range of ways they could use their
bodies to communicate different things. It talks about how children learn nonverbal communication
first and learn to pick up on cues as a young kid until they become old enough to use full sentences.
This makes it so many of the nonverbal cues are learned at a young age from children watching their
parents communicate. It is believed that women have a better ability at perceiving nonverbal cues
since they are often the ones communicating with young children. The article then goes on to discuss
different areas of nonverbal communication.
The first area is body language. Similar to class it mentions how facial expressions are great for
communicating emotions and posture can

Similarities Between Calvinism And Calvinism
Moreover, Calvinism was highly ascetic. Whereas, Catholicism and Lutheranism maintained that
believers could essentially work for God s forgiveness through faith, good works, etc., Calvinism
stressed systematic self control necessary, in every moment (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 127) and the
intensification of good works into a system (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 129). These qualities suggested to
Weber that Calvinism was the epitome of rationalism (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 130). In the context of
religion, rationalization refers to the process of systematically organizing one s life according to a
methodical approach, with an intense orientation towards discipline, and the absence of magic or
mystical elements (i.e., sacraments that can save the damned ) (Kalberg 2011a: p. 422). This
characteristic is what distinguishes Lutheranism from Calvinism. As opposed to Lutheranism, Weber
([1905] 2011) argues that Calvinism forced [a] methodical organization of life upon the believer (p.
135). This is due to the fact that salvation could always be won back in Lutheranism through penance.
In contrast, Calvinism offered no means to acquire salvation, only hints or signs which were based on
uninterrupted self control and the planned regulation of one s own life (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 136).
Lutheranism was also characterized by less asceticism due to its teaching that salvation could be
acquired. Therefore, Weber ([1905] 2011) also maintains that Lutheranism lacks the psychological

Raku Pottery
However, the golden age of Japanese ceramics did not really begin until the sixteenth century when
the tea master Sen no Rikyū popularized the tea ceremony. In his refinement of this art form, Rikyū
found beauty in the earthly and natural forms of pottery and thus commissioned the production of raku
ware, which today, is considered the pinnacle of Japanese pottery. Notable for its ruggedness and
imperfections, raku ware made Rikyū into a central figure in the establishment of the wabi sabi
aesthetic. In the beginning, the textures and colors of wabi sabi vessels were left to develop naturally.
However, over time, several wabi sabi artists began experimenting and even developed techniques to
intentionally create these alterations. Obviously, the exact shape and form of an imperfection cannot
be controlled but the intention can be realized in an oxymoronic controlled natural look. After several

However, this does not mean that the previously mentioned wabi sabi aesthetic disappeared. For
example, the town of Shigaraki in Shiga prefecture and Bizen city in Okayama prefecture are just two
of the oldest kilns that produced wood fired stoneware beginning from the end of the twelfth century.
These two locations, as well as some others, produced utilitarian vessels of the wabi sabi aesthetic
long before the tea ceremony even came to popularize it. However, these two are different in that
Shigaraki ware is characterized by a fiery orange color and a speckled, bumpy surface caused by the
feldspar in the clay whereas Bizen ware is known for its deep reddish to blackish brown color
(Willmann 2011). Regardless, these kilns produced the wabi sabi aesthetic before the rise in tea
ceremony, continued it during the popularization of porcelain, and still continues to make such work
today. The following pictures are examples of each of the two

Portfolio Theory
PORTFOLIO THEORY
Let us begin our discussion on Portfolio Theory with an example of two investments (assets or
securities) Ace and Bravo. Their return expectations are given in the table below. You will notice that
both Ace and Bravo are risky investments because they do not offer a certain return. You can begin by
comparing the expected return and risk of Ace and Bravo:
State of Probability Return
Economy of occurrence Ace Bravo
Boom 0.2 +20 15
Growth 0.6 +5 +5
Recession 0.2 10 +25
1. What kind of a correlation do you observe between the two securities? 2. Calculate the expected
return and standard deviation of both Ace and Bravo. Interpret the results.
Expected Return = E(R) = ∑ ri.pi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Portfolio expected returns are a weighted average of the expected returns of the constituent
investments. If the two investments are A and B, with a being invested in A and (1 a) in B, then
[pic]
Portfolio standard deviation is less than the weighted average of the standard deviation of the
constituent investments (expect for perfectly +vely correlated investments where it is the weighted
average). The risk of a portfolio is measured by its standard deviation and calculated as:
[pic]
Covariance means the extent to which the returns on two investments move together. It is related to
correlation coefficient, but can take on any ve or +ve value.
Let us learn the above concepts with the help of a solved example:
Let there be two shares A and B, with the following returns for alternative economic states:
|State of Economy |Probability |Returns on A |Returns on B |
|Boom |0.3 |20% |3% |
|Growth |0.4 |10% |35% |
|Recessions |0.3 |0% | 5%

While many argue that the rapid expansion of this genre has caused an increase in lower quality programs (or too much television), others believe that this event is part of the development to coincide with its new audience. Two such articles address different opinions on this issue. Linda Holmes, author of Television 2015: Is There Really Too Much TV? , published her article under the popular culture section on NPR s website. Holmes s opinion surrounds the premise that due to an immense growth in television programming, it has resulted in a multitude of lesser quality shows. • 15. The Current Mental Health Policies Essay Policies have an important role in regulating and shaping the values in a society. The issues related to mental health are not only considered as personal but also affecting the relationships with significant others. The stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health can be traced to the lack of legislation and protection of rights (Rodriguez del Barrio et al., 2014). The policy makers in mental health have a challenging task to protect the rights of individuals as well as the public (Swigger Heinmiller, 2014). Therefore, it is essential to analyse the current mental health policies. In Canada, provinces adopt their own Mental Health Acts (MHA) to implement mental health services. As of January 15, 2016, there are 13 mental health acts in Canada (Gray, Hastings, Love, O Reilly, 2016). The key elements, despite the differences in laws, are (1) involuntary admission criteria, (2) the right to refuse treatment, and (3) who has the authority to authorize treatment (Browne, 2010). The current act in Ontario is Mental Health Act, 1990. The Ontario Mental Health Act has adopted a broad definition of mental health. The term broad has been defined as any disease or disability in mind (Mental Health Act, 1990 as cited in Gray et al., 2016). Apart from Ontario, only Quebec has adopted such a definition to mental health. Other jurisdictions have been more specific in defining mental health (Gray et al., 2016). Though, many people believe the effects of war are strictly cast upon the soldier. However In addition to the casualties the soldiers face, there are also further reaching effects to the family members as well as friends of the soldiers, such as strained relationships and the lack of communication. Erdrich reveals the possible effects war can have on soldiers and the people who care about that soldier. Some of the effects are PTSD, strain in relationships, depression, and even suicide. • 28. Children s Socialization And Control Of Children Before... 1. What role did the family play in the socialization and control of children before the 1800s? During the Middle Ages and through the 1500s and 1600s, the family served as the primary unit of social control. Within the family, power was typically vested in the father, and the mother and the children were expected to obey his commands. However, the nuclear family of today was relatively rare in the middle ages. Rather, a typical family consisted of an extended group of related people and other individuals who were not related. The father, particularly if he was a merchant, might spend considerable time away from the home. High mortality rates meant that either parent might have died and been replaced by a stepparent. In addition, servants, apprentices, and journeymen sometimes lived in the household, and neighbors were often present. Consequently, children were exposed to a large number of adults who played a role in their socialization and control. 2. What role did children play in the colonization of the New World? Children were counted on to play an important role in the expansion of European influence and became an integral part of plans to colonize the New World. Indeed, for some people, the colonization of the New World was viewed as an opportunity for children to be involved in productive work. Merchants saw children as potential providers of the labor that would be needed to produce the many goods necessary for survival in the colonies. Some people felt that work was ... Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only her business. Here are some important cases: 1. 1965 Griswold vs. Connecticut. Upheld the right to privacy and ended the ban on birth control. Eight years later, the Supreme Court ruled the right to privacy included abortions. 2. 1973 Roe vs. Wade. The state of Texas had outlawed abortions. The Supreme Court declared the law unconstitutional, bur refused to order an injunction against the state. On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court voted the right to privacy included abortions. 3. 1976 Planned Parenthood vs. Danforth. Ruled that requiring consent by the husband and the consent from a parent if a person was under 18 was unconstitutional. This case supported a woman s control over her own body and reproductive system. To conclude about Pro Choice I will state what Dana Pentoney has said: Abortion deals with one s private life and should have nothing to do with the government. However, abortion should not be used as a means of birth control, but if a fetus will be unwanted, it is better to be aborted than to be abused or neglected. Now onto Pro Life. This is what ... The organism responsible for the occurrence of IM is the Epstein Barr virus (EBV). Infants and younger children have been affected, but the virus is very rarely found in middle aged or elderly people. 2) Explain the principle of the glandular fever test. A patient sample is added to an absorbent pad on the test strip which contains bovine erythrocyte glycoprotein. According to Kacprowicz (2017), in order to properly diagnose and treat any injury to the UCL, a comprehensive understanding of the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the UCL in overhead throwing sports is imperative. The anterior bundle of the UCL is particularly susceptible to injury. The study by Awh (2010) reports that, These injuries are often associated with those of the flexor pronator muscle tendon unit, a stabilizer at the medial elbow. Strains and/or fatigue of the dynamic stabilizers may cause increased tears of the UCL. The posterior bundle of the UCL is not as vulnerable for injury since it does not play a large role in the overhead throwing motion. Acute tears of the anterior bundle of the UCL can be seen on high quality MR images. Edema, abnormal laxity, and discontinuity of the ligament are all signs of UCL disruption. Partial tears can be diagnosed with edema and focal areas of discontinuity with residual intact fibers. However, according to Awh (2010), with complete tears, laxity is more apparent and edema and/or disorganized soft tissue extend across the width of the anterior bundle. Nonverbal Communication Indispensable Compliment of Oral and Written Communication Dinica s article in Procedia, Social and Behavioral Sciences from 2014 researched how nonverbal behavior aids communication by observing how animals communicate, since humans are the only species to use language as their main form of communication. While there were some similarities between animal s and human s nonverbal behaviors, they discovered that thanks to language, humans have adapted to using their words to communicate information more and pick up on less nonverbal cues. Animal communication was limited based on their body features and the range of ways they could use their bodies to communicate different things. It talks about how children learn nonverbal communication first and learn to pick up on cues as a young kid until they become old enough to use full sentences. This makes it so many of the nonverbal cues are learned at a young age from children watching their parents communicate. It is believed that women have a better ability at perceiving nonverbal cues since they are often the ones communicating with young children. • 43. Similarities Between Calvinism And Calvinism Moreover, Calvinism was highly ascetic. Whereas, Catholicism and Lutheranism maintained that believers could essentially work for God s forgiveness through faith, good works, etc., Calvinism stressed systematic self control necessary, in every moment (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 127) and the intensification of good works into a system (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 129). These qualities suggested to Weber that Calvinism was the epitome of rationalism (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 130). In the context of religion, rationalization refers to the process of systematically organizing one s life according to a methodical approach, with an intense orientation towards discipline, and the absence of magic or mystical elements (i.e., sacraments that can save the damned ) (Kalberg 2011a: p. 422). This characteristic is what distinguishes Lutheranism from Calvinism. As opposed to Lutheranism, Weber ([1905] 2011) argues that Calvinism forced [a] methodical organization of life upon the believer (p. 135). This is due to the fact that salvation could always be won back in Lutheranism through penance. In contrast, Calvinism offered no means to acquire salvation, only hints or signs which were based on uninterrupted self control and the planned regulation of one s own life (Weber [1905] 2011: p. 136). Lutheranism was also characterized by less asceticism due to its teaching that salvation could be acquired. Therefore, Weber ([1905] 2011) also maintains that Lutheranism lacks the psychological ... If the two investments are A and B, with a being invested in A and (1 a) in B, then [pic] Portfolio standard deviation is less than the weighted average of the standard deviation of the constituent investments (expect for perfectly +vely correlated investments where it is the weighted average). The risk of a portfolio is measured by its standard deviation and calculated as: [pic] Covariance means the extent to which the returns on two investments move together.
