The People s Republic Of China
On October 1, 1949 General Mao Zedong stood upon the steps of the Zhang Zhenshi, and announced
Zhongguo will become the People s Republic of China. This act propelled China into a closed market,
red country. Later on, China would become a closed market country; this would end in the late 1980 s
when China became an open market country. Since then China s economy has been growing faster
than any other economy in the world, and creating relationships with many countries including the
United States. As China continues to boom and increase relations with the United States, fear in the
U.S. has increased as well. The sudden thrust into communism for the people China lead to many
issues. One of which was noticed right away. One of the largest problems of communism is the idea
that all people make the same amount of money despite their profession. This lead to unrest of the
citizens; riots started to occur, and the demand for change was high. Along with the communistic
ideas, China became cut off from the rest of the world. Trade was minimal and their economy was
closed to the rest of the world. This in itself lead to tremendous amounts of problems as the population
of China kept growing. There was little food to feed the massive population, or enough goods and
supplies. As the 1980 s approached, and the death of Zedong in 1976, change was needed. In 1986
New China emerged, the closed market economy opened back up to the world, and China was a time
capsule closed since the 50 s

The Writing Of The Barbarian
The barbarian snarled, a war cry bursting from his lips as he ambled toward me. His leather boots
kicked dust up from the arena floor as he moved in a slow circle, trying to get his back to the sun and
diminish my line of sight. It was a good trick, but there was just one problem with that. I knew what
he was trying to do.
Even if I could keep him from blinding me, that hulking axe of his would do some major damage. If
he hit me with that, no amount of blocking would keep my head from getting caved in like a casaba
melon. Unfortunately, I was only good up close. I d have to engage him sooner or later, and since his
arms were longer than mine, I d have to be quick. Even a cursory blow from him would mean trouble
since the wardings on his gauntlets let me know he had ogre strength.
That said, I d done this dance a million times before. The key was to not get frazzled. No, I had to stay
calm. If I was calm, I could win. At least in theory. Unfortunately, it was always easier to tell yourself
to be calm than to actually calm down. On the other hand, it was always a lot easier to piss the other
guy off.
Have you heard the one about your mother? I asked, a grin melting across my face as I stepped back,
trying to put space between me and his big axe. The muscles in his legs twitched as I spoke, letting me
know he was about to attack. You probably have, it s huge.
Another snarl tore from his throat as he leapt toward me, huge twin bladed axe cleaving through the
air in a

The Steady Decline of Salmon Populations
From the San Francisco Bay to streams and rivers of Oregon, salmon populations have been steadily
decreasing over the past two decades but more rapidly within recent years. In general, fish populations
in the Pacific Northwest region have always fluctuated, but the overall trend continues on a downward
slope to extinction. While natural phenomena such as flooding and predators of the food chain do
affect salmon populations, human activity poses the greatest threat by far. The four main reasons of
salmon plummeting are as followed: Harvest, Hatcheries, Hydropower, and Habitat. It s clear that
water ecosystems and management of human activity threaten salmon as a whole. Whether it s a bay,
river or stream whatever body of water that contains salmon should be subject to ethics that guide our
actions as a part of achieving a better overall environment. Salmon have a truly incredible life cycle.
Like all fish, salmon spawn from female eggs and then go on to develop into alevin, which is a term
for newly hatched fish. First off, they derive nourishment from the yolk sac from where the salmon are
born. Once the sac has been absorbed, the fry, or baby fish, then emerges from the river gravel and
starts the search for food. Fry instinctively deal with the river currents and learn to swim together as a
school right away. Anywhere from a couple days to two years old, fry will continue to live in fresh
water until they start the next, smolting, phase. Smolting is a

Perspectives On Amsterdam s Energy System
Final Exam
Perspectives on Amsterdam

Responses follow.
Question 1
In recent years, Amsterdam s energy system has been revolutionized by decentralization and process
flow controls. According to Ger Baron, rather than a single energy provider, Amsterdam now has over
600. The city can now limit power outages to certain neighborhoods, and prioritize other areas where
power supply should never be cut off. Wisely employed, these systems can improve Amsterdam s
resilience, defined by Gunderson and Holling as the capacity of cities to undergo disturbance and
maintain its functions and controls (qtd. in Jabareen 2013). Wise use means taking a rational, ethical,
and scale sensitive approach. With a coherent action plan, the city should benefit from these tools.
Any neighborhood to lose power will suffer in the short and long term. To prioritize, we must be able
to step back and see the city as a system comprised of smaller, unequal parts, and understand how
different neighborhoods might be differently vulnerable in case of an outage. Evidently, major
infrastructure like hospitals and transit nodes should be most protected from outages. While such
infrastructures are locally embedded, they provide crucial services to the whole city and outlying
areas.
Beyond infrastructure, the issue is more nuanced. However, on close inspection, the ethical choice is
also the practical one. Power outages should be allowed in the most advantaged areas

Importance of Maintaining Your Room and Obeying Orders Essay
Importance of maintaining a clean living environment and following orders.
It is important to maintain a clean and sanitary living environment for multiple reasons. One of the
reasons is that it is a threat to public health in the barracks if even just one of the soldiers is living in
unsanitary conditions, then through frequent contact throughout the day with other soldiers that one
soldier, if he or she becomes sick, could cause other soldiers to become sick. When one soldier
becomes the source of other soldiers being sick then that soldier could be face possible punishment

Because after all the soldiers barracks room is what they should take the most pride in because it is the
first thing they see in the morning and the last thing they see at night. And every soldier should want
their section chief or squad leader to brag about how squared away their soldier is, because it starts
with their barracks room first thing in the morning and ends with their barracks room last at night.
Also if soldiers are told specifically to maintain a clean and sanitary barracks room then they are
verbally ordered to keep that room clean and thus if they decide to live in an unsuited room that is
consistently filthy and unsanitary then they are violating a direct lawful order and are subject to
Article 92 of the Universal Code of Military Justice which states the following: 892. ART. 92.
FAILURE TO OBEY ORDER OR REGULATION
Any person subject to this chapter who
(1) violates or fails to obey any lawful general order or regulation;
(2) having knowledge of any other lawful order issued by any member of the armed forces, which it is
his duty to obey, fails to obey the order; or
(3) is derelict in the performance of his duties; shall be punished as a court martial may direct. And
thus the soldiers leader may at their discretion write the soldier a negative counseling statement and

The Problem Of Violent Crimes
Violent Crimes Introduction Violent crimes occur more than one could even imagine. However, there
is definitely a questionable aspect to these crimes within their court procedures. If one were to take a
closer look at specific court procedures of crimes having to deal with mental illnesses, it will be
determined that it is viewed differently oppose to a sane person. When taking mental illnesses into
consideration when referring to criminal behavior, there is an obvious difference between actions.
There begins to be a question of responsibility within these criminals. It is fair to say that there is a
difference with court procedures. The imperativeness of the courts is extremely important when
referring to any case. There are biological and social risk factors that pertain to any given case. There
is a question as to if these should be taken into consideration when enduring the court process as an
entirety. By taking a deeper look at the biological aspects within a case, the justice system will be able
to give more accurate sentences. Statement of the Problem This ongoing problem on whether or not
mental illnesses along with biological issues should be used within the court process has been
constantly debated about. The information on this subject may not always be as accurate as needed in
order to make decisions such as sentencing. The sentencing of a criminal can easily be a life changer

Racial Profiling Research
Racial profiling has come to represent one of the latest challenges toward law enforcement agencies in
the United States. In America, unfortunately, racial profiling occurs. For instance, NYPD officers
stopped about 87 percent of the public that were either black or Latino (Geller, 2014). In addition,
approximately the same percentage was not guilty of a crime. In the study by the American Journal of
Public Health, young men who encounter numerous police contact or aggressive stops by the police
reported that they had more trauma and anxiety symptoms than among young men who had less of
these encounters with the police (Geller, 2014). This means that less aggressive invasive tactics are
necessary for suspect in order to reduce the possibility

A Popular Example Of Slavery In Ancient Greek Society
Unfortunately, slavery was a very popular act in the Old Testament and in ancient Greek society. It is
shocking to know that slavery was acceptable back then and how it differs greatly from slavery in
other ancient times. The most popular example of slavery in the Bible was when the Israelites were
slaves to the Egyptians, and Moses was called by God to deliver them to the Promised Land (Exodus
14). Many times, people in the Bible will use their own indentured servants or actual servant as slaves.
The Bible uses these cover ups to make it seem like slavery was not everywhere, but in reality, it was.
Slavery in the Greek society was based on one s social status. Most of the slaves were prisoners of
war, people from other tribes, and people

Computer Based Systems And Its Effects On The Workplace
Introduction The use of a timeclock to monitor only select employees negatively impacts the
workplace, as it creates an environment that lacks trust and causes morale to plummet. Even so, many
good intentioned managers implement timeclocks as a way to manage some, or all employees,
believing this will be a way to keep employees honest as well as become a money saving endeavor.
What they fail to realize is that it can actually cost the company in several ways; it may lead to
financial loss for the company in unearned wages and can be the cause of losing quality employees.
Punching a timeclock is not a new idea. The original Bundy timeclock was patented in 1890 by
Willard Le Grand Bundy in Auburn, New York. Today, computer based systems are used in
conjunction with magnetic stripe cards, barcodes, RFID (radio frequency identification) chips, and
even biometric scans to monitor the coming and goings of employees. (Wikipedia, 2015) The clocks
are meant to encourage promptness and decrease unwarranted overtime, but some employees feel
singled out and that they are being punished for the indiscretions of others. Dee Haverrn recently
posted an online discussion about being made to clock in as a Registered Nurse, I resent being treated
like a factory worker. (Haverrn, 2007) Many HR experts and employees agree that salaried exempt
employees may feel micro managed and discouraged when made to punch a timeclock. Applying

How Does Proton Pump Acid Affects The Body
Nutrition and lifestyle can change the body s response to drugs; conversely, a nutrient drug interaction
also affects the nutritional content in the body. Drugs may also change food absorption and

Other drugs decrease GI motility. Some drugs are better tolerated if taken with food.1
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most important drugs in order to treat gastrointestinal

Puritan Beliefs In The Salem Witch Trials
Soon prisons were filled with more than 150 men and women from towns surrounding Salem. Their
names had been cried out by tormented young girls as the cause of their pain. All would await trial for
a crime punishable by death in 17th century New England, the practice of witchcraft. This excerpt
from an article about the Salem Witch Trials embodies the concept of punishment which the Puritans
embraced. As shown, Puritans applied ideals of punishment and discipline to prevent sinful behavior,
which proves to beneficial in controlling such events. Many individuals increasingly view Puritan
doctrines in a negative light. However, these morals actually keep communities well maintained and
religiously aware of sin and its consequences. Puritan morals are beneficial to societies because they
encourage the avoidance of unholy activities, increased self control, and moderation of behavior.
To begin with, Puritan communities largely condemned individuals for minor sins which usually are
not considered worthy of extreme punishment, such as excessive drinking. During the Industrial
Revolution in the colonial time period, the majority of male factory workers resorted to heavy
drinking to distract from the daily hardships and struggles which were prominent at the time. As a
result, alcohol was banned from the communities, leading to a major decrease in consumption.
Similarly, Puritans who condemned the ingestion of alcoholic beverages as immoral kept their towns

The Outreaching Christian Mission in Let the Nations Be...
In the realm of outreaching Christian mission, there is a voice who is talking an intelligible message.
In Let the Nations Be Glad!, John Piper makes a superb showing task of treating a few significant
points identified with missions and the explanation behind missions in today s self serving,

identified with missions and he gives a brief scriptural reply to each of them. In every one, he explains
why missions have either floundered or succeeded. Piper exhibits a perfection in missions which has

not made the sky and the earth and the whole celestial host, He might not be pitiful or dejected. He is

this book, is that it is longer than it needs to be. Piper has a practice of taking twice the length he

How Can Ms. G Make A Big Change
How Can Ms. G Make a Big Change
Freedom Writers is a film about a young, idealistic teacher Erin Gruwell and her class of racially
mixed students at Wilson High School in long Beach, California. It is based on a true story. The movie
shows us, how can a new inspirational teacher change the inner city and at risk students, who all live
pretty tough lives, from self desert to feel free in mind? It s believed that her optimism and
perseverance, using proper strategies to grasp the mental change and devoting all her energy to the
children, which many other teachers can learn from, make her success.
Her optimism and perseverance change the relationship with students from discriminate to mutual
respect.
As a new teacher, Erin Gruwell learned the students situation from the office and said optimistically: I
may not a good teacher, but I ll be a good student. But the first day Erin Gruwell enters classroom
with coltish enthusiasm, the students turn blind eyes to her. Part of the reason is the racism. Ms. G is
white which represents privilege that treat badly to them. Meanwhile, education means nothing to
them. They re force to study. After then she witness the terrible behavior students did, and soon
realizes that her diverse group of students is embroiled in the racial gang war culture of the time. At
this point Ms. G did not abandon, she try her best to give the students brand new books, make them
know she care and respect them no matter what happened. If it were not her

Parents, Teenagers And Educators Often Fail To Realize
Parents, teenagers and educators often fail to realize the potential for problems that alcohol presents to

Essay On Coming To America
There are many significant parts of my life that have had a huge impact on my personality, but there is
one that has not only affected me, but has changed me for the better. My personal life changing
experience was coming to America. For me, this bridge between my old life and new life is a shaky
bridge that I attempted to cross and entered a whole new realm of life which changed everything. The
decision about coming to America has taught me how to respect other people, be more responsible,
and be more loving towards various friends and families. It has also helped me adapt to the new life
that I m about to begin. It was so unexpected. Out of nowhere my parents broke the news: We re going

The decision to become a doctor and study really hard for it took a while to get used to, but I finally
did it. I decided that it was also time to draw a closer relationship with God. Baptized at the age of
twelve, my vision on the world became clearer and that s when I understood why things happened the
way they did why I came to America, why I met certain people, and why it happened at that time. All
these questions were finally answered by God, who spoke through other people at school, church and
even my home. I finally understood why the Indian people living in Greenwood helped us the way
they did; they put themselves in our shoes and realized that they had gone through the same
experience. From these experiences, God has helped me understand the importance of these small
parts of life that I didn t use to think about before. The big change finally made sense! It all happened
for a reason a reason that has impacted me for the rest of my life. The transition to my new life has
changed the way I think about myself, act toward other people, and understand God s will for my life.
The decision to come to America was a decision that we will never regret making. See more at:

Compare and Contrast Kami and Shen, the Japanese and Chinese Words for God
The words kami in Japanese and shen in Chinese both are translated into English as the word god.
Although they both refer to somewhat similar supernatural elements, they are by no means identical to
each other. Chinese shen is an abstract term referring to spirits and relating to abstract thoughts such
as the heavens and the afterlife. In contrast, kami are very often related directly to a person or actual
object and are worshiped in a hope for more day to day help or this worldly benefits. In order to help
explain the relationship between kami and shen, I will first explore the similarities between the two
terms, then discuss the unique characteristics which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All three of these concepts, especially the first and the third, are very abstract concepts. Because they
are difficult to understand through natural reasoning, they are seen as mystical.
The first category of shen, human spirits, can also include the human soul. These are spoken of in
Chinese literature such as The Scripture of the Yellow Court which documents specific deities (shen)
living within the human body. The spirits of the liver, lungs, and spleen are above, representing
Heaven, as contrasted with the navel... representing the underworld of matter and generation (Kroll
362 3). This document goes on to cite the roles that many of the shen living inside of you perform.
And the sacred estrade of the heart will prove an everlastingly impregnable structure (365). Of the
spirits inside of you, the most important are those of the heart. The Simple Questions of the Yellow
Emperor also describes the heart as the most important: The heart functions as the prince and governs
through the shen; the lungs are liaison officers who promulgate rules and regulations; the liver is a
general and devises strategies (qtd. in Schipper 100). This passage again designates the heart as the
ruler of the body and assigns specific roles to the individual

The Season Of The Nhl Hockey Season
The entire 2004 2005 NHL Hockey season was on ice, cancelled due to a lockout announced by
Commissioner Gary Bettman because the players union would not accept any proposal that included a
salary cap during contract negotiations. Could the cancelled season have been prevented? Would there
be an agreement for the 2005 2006 NHL season and beyond? If both sides in the negotiations could
not reach an agreement and salvage the season, how must the two parties overcome the barriers
(Trotschel, Loschelder, Huffmeier, Schwartz, Gollwitzer, 2011) to end the lockout? A thorough
analysis of the terms, barriers and powers delineated throughout the negotiation process will show that
a more effective negotiation process would have prevented the cancellation of the 2004 2005 NHL
Hockey season.
On September 15, 2004, Gary Bettman, representing the interests of the league and team owners,
announced that the NHL players were being locked out from participating in the upcoming hockey
season (Malhotra Hout, 2006). Gary Bettman was authorized and empowered by the team owners to
declare such a decision in the event the two parties could not come to a contract agreement during
negotiations. Bob Goodenow, executive director of the players union, led negotiations on behalf of the
players. Though many issues were addressed in negotiations, the primary issue was over salary cap.
The owners insisted on a cap on salaries and the players refused to accept any agreement that included
a cap.

The Sisters Brothers And The Brothers
In today s society, women have an equal amount of rights compared to men. Women can work
wherever they chose, vote for whomever they may choose, and pick a lifestyle of their own desire.
This type of society has never been forever, meaning men were inferior to women at one point in time.
The novel of The Sisters Brothers portrays this type of society, and we see many examples that the
novel is presented in this type of society. The Sisters Brothers is a western inspired story of 2 brothers
and depicts many scenes where women are focused upon, and show many qualities and roles they play
in their current society. Whereas one woman may play the role of a prostitute, others may obtain the
role of a servant, shopkeeper or family caregiver. Within each role women play, many challenges
appear, and different circumstances create different outcomes. Many of the women in the western
community may have not had a choice in their current profession, meaning many of the prostitutes
were forced upon this job, and the servants as well potentially did not have much of a choosing for
their work style. This novel portrays men to be inferior to women, and women were not seen on the
streets, but the background only. As the men would travel, and collect the money for survival, it would
be the women who stay at home, or the women keeping the men content with their travels.

Society Of The Spectacle Analysis
The Society of the Spectacle examines the everyday manifestation of capitalist driven agendas. The
book Society of the Spectacle was written around the time that the Vietnam War was going on and in
fact it is argued that the world had been overtaken by the notion of spectacle. In the book Debord
describes what the spectacle is comprises of through multiple approach and examples that illustrate
how the vase outlets in society consumer the public mindset. According to Debord, The whole Life of
those societies in which modern conditions of production prevail presents itself as an immense
accumulations of spectacles. All that once was directly lived has become mere representations
(Debord 12). Here Debord is making the connection as to how things are now summed up in society.
Things that were once directly lived are now mere representation of what they were in the past. Thus,
this leads to the conclusion that the media and other outlets have affected the reality of those living in
this world that now is becoming a spectacle of what society wants rather than what the society actually
is itself. The society of the spectacle is simply is an equation that equals and blindside solution to what
the majority of authority wants the public sector to know. The life expectation of the world has been
design to enmity the images and major media portrayals. Reality now is becoming a reflection of what
the digital media enforces upon its viewers. Debord goes on to say The spectacle is not

The Argument Against Gay Marriges
Arguments against gay marriges Though there are differences in the views of different faiths,
conservative Protestants, the Catholic Church, Mormons, traditional Jews, and Muslims share two
fundamental antigay arguments. The first is that homosexuality is wrong because it involves sex that
doesn t create life. In the case of Judaism, a key Bible passage is the story of Onan (Links to an
external site.), who sleeps with his dead brother s wife but, to avoid giving his brother offspring, doesn
t ejaculate inside her. Instead, he spilt the seed on the ground. God slew him, which some might view
as a sign of disapproval (Links to an external site.).The Catholic catechism decries (Links to an
external site.) homosexual acts because they close the sexual act to the gift of life. Early American
antisodomy laws discouraged all forms of non procreative sex (including, incidentally, heterosexual
oral and anal sex). Islam shares a similar view. One Islamic hadith explains that Allah will not look at
the man who commits sodomy with a man or a woman. But if non procreative sex is the issue, society
started down the slippery slope not with the recent Supreme Court ruling but with production of the
pill or, really, even earlier, when birth control became common. We ve been into the non procreative
sex thing for some time now. Even most religious conservatives don t have the heart to go after this. If
sex without the possibility of creating life is wrong, then religious

After the civil war, United States took a turn that led them to solidify as the world power. From the

in an age where the traditional tools of international relations are no longer necessary. Rather than
states competing with each other with the preverbal sticks, whether it be military force, economic

benign. At the end of World War II, the United States was the only country with the atomic bomb, the

exception to the Warsaw Pact, the United States saw no reason to become a threat allowing other

progression rather than competing, traditional international instruments became less important.
Military force, diplomatic pressure, and alliances are all actions for the security of a nation. With the
relatively assertive United States at the head of a uni polar international system, there was no need for
significant military expenditures, and changes in the international balance of power. This ultimately

The Relationship Between Music And Society
The relationship between music and society is an exceptionally powerful and crucial one. In some
cases, this relationship is viewed as one that is harmonious and beneficial to large communities of
people. However, that exact relationship could also be scrutinized as one that is extremely discordant
to other communities. Green Day happens to fall precisely in the middle of that musical spectrum,
depending on who is asked. Regardless of opinion, songs are much more than just music and are
essentially retained as pieces of history. These songs help showcase the trends, behaviors, and even
struggles of different time periods. With that being said, one may ask What all did the musical group
Green Day contribute to society? . Green Day is a pop punk/alternative rock band formed in 1986. The
band consists of three members: Billie Joe Armstrong (lead singer), Mike Dirnt (bass and backing

Berkeley, California by Armstrong and Dirnt, and was initially titled Sweet Children. The two were
only fourteen years old at the time they founded their band. In 1988, Lookout! Records owner, Larry

Draft And Outline Of David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals
The Pain of Animals Draft and Outline
The Pain of Animals is an article written by David Suzuki and published in 1989. The writer discusses
that humans are using other species for their benefits and causing them pain by scientific experiments
as well as by pleasure purposes. This results in the extinction of many species and disrupts the
ecosystem. Moreover, David Suzuki s main point throughout this article is to explain and convince
readers that animals have body systems similar to humans and they also feel fear and pain. In addition,
he discusses that it is unethical to cause pain in animals for humans own benefits.
Suzuki s main thesis of this article is a discussion about the similarities between human rights and
animal rights. He also focuses on animals used for research due to their similarities such as their
bodies, responses, and nervous system with humans. In addition, humans use them for pleasure which
cause them fear and pain that is unethical. Suzuki has persuaded readers by connecting his childhood
experience of hunting and fishing as well as moments he realized that it is painful for the animals.
Specifically, the description about the holes in the fish s mouth and the pain and fear from it in the fish
is very touching to the readers.
Moreover, Suzuki made an effective discussion by talking about animal s life after being tested if they
survive. He made readers to think and feel about the pain of animals by his emotional questions, What
gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other
creatures don t feel pain or anguish just as we do? Perhaps there s no problem with fruit flies, but
where do we draw the line? (Suzuki, 1989, p.681). Suzuki s main purpose is to convince the audience
that animals feel pain and it is unethical to make animals suffer from pain for our benefits. Suzuki
suggests that it is not wise to use animals for research as well as for our pleasure to the extent that
results in extinction.
Suzuki mentioned in his article about medical research and experiments of Jane Goodall using
chimpanzees greatly affect the population of chimpanzees. Furthermore, human moves animals from
their homes and lands to zoos for education and

Diversity Of A New Rocket Ship
The topic of diversity is an ever growing discussion to encourage inclusion of different people,
cultures, and backgrounds into the global marketplace. In my issue paper, I will explore the idea of
diversity, its benefits, and how it can be included within key sectors of the business world. Diversity is
an important factor to the business place that allows employees and customers to interact with
companies that value their background as an essential part of their business plan company culture.
There are a myriad of benefits that diversity brings can bring to a company but most of my readings
reflected on three main ideas of driving innovation, bettering recruitment, and capturing the global
market. Diversity of race, gender, and social view can increase innovation and creativity. How does
diversity do this? When different people are brought together to complete a task or solve a problem,
they are bringing different information, perspective, and opinions. The need for diversity of expertise
is obvious: the building of a new rocket ship requires the expertise of designers, engineers, and quality
control experts. But informational diversity brings unique dimensions and experiences to thinking
through a task. Oftentimes being with those that are similar to us can lead us to think that we hold the
same details and information or share the same perspective, which hinders creativity and innovation.
Being in diverse groups can lead us to asking more questions and more

mind really is. He then goes on to inform us, it is only as a result of scientific investigation that we
ever seem to reach an intellectual consensus about controversial matters (Armstrong 280). He holds
the idea that only through science and solid theory, will the people all be able to come to an agreement
on something that can be disputed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major difference between their thoughts on the mind would be that Descartes believes that the
mind is a non physical cause while Armstrong believes that it is a physical cause. This difference may
seem small when you compare it to the two philosophers similarities, but it can cause much debate.
Descartes states in his writing of Meditation I, I will obstinately concentrate on this meditation and
will thus ensure by mental resolution that, if I do not really have the ability to know the truth, I will at
least withhold assent from what is false and from what a deceiver may try to put over on me
(Descartes 159). Descartes cannot be certain that we are not dreaming nor all victims of an all
powerful deceiver. These two philosophers do not agree on whether or not the mind is a physical
cause, but they do both that other minds are knowable in an indirect manner. I understand the
argument of both philosophers, but I agree more with the understanding that our mind is a physical
cause. I am more of a scientific and facts person so the idea that we are being deceived by someone
and we do not realize it really does not make sense to me. We do understand the fact that we do not
know everything and I firmly believe that we never will. Theory is called theory for a reason and not
fact because it has not been proven. We can study and learn new things all we want, but we have to
understand that as we learn new things, we will only uncover more

The Serial Peripheral Interphase
The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a synchronous bi directional (full duplex) serial data protocol
used by microcontrollers to enable communication between one or more peripheral devices that are all
of short distances to one another. Furthermore, it can also be used for communication between two
microcontrollers; with particular interest between Arduino boards and Multiwii flight controllers. In
general, an SPI data link consists of one master; typically a microcontroller which controls one or
more peripheral devices known as slaves. Both the master and the slaves share three common lines
which include; MISO (Master In Slave Out) which is responsible for transferring data from the slave
to the master; MOSI (Master Out Slave In) which is responsible for transferring data from the master
to the slaves; and SCK (Serial Clock) which is created by the master and is responsible for
synchronising the transmission of data between master and slave in respect clock pulses. There is also
SS (Slave Select) line that is specific to a pin on each slave device and in which the master can use to
enable and disable specific slave devices. In the case a slave device s SS pin is low, communication is
enabled with the master. However in the case it is high, communication is disabled with the master.
This allows multiple devices using SPI to share common MISO, MOSI, and CLK lines. Full duplex
data transmission occurs during each clock cycle generated by the master in which the master

Religious Rights Vs Gay Rights Essay
Religious Rights vs. Gay Rights
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community have always had issues with
discrimination and prejudice; even now anti gay movements are growing not only in our communities
but also in our legislative branch in the government. These people disguise their hate behind the
constitution and claim freedom of religion and speech. There ignoreos is growing to our congressmen
and women, laws are being pass in some states to prevent other anti gay laws. We as a nation in some
states are regressing as a whole and not progressing. The progress we have made recently which
allows gay marriage in all 50 states is wonderful progress but we can and should do much more to
allow LGBT members the equality they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religious Freedom Restoration Act passed in Indiana is one example just a way to legalize
discrimination against gays: any business owner could now refuse to serve them simply by citing a
religious objection. Why do laws like these get pass. Its because of religious congressmen and women
who put their beliefs in the bible on religion over the laws they are supposed to uphold and protect.
Luckily some of these laws have been proven to be unconstitutional under the supreme court but only
after years of activist fighting them. We have made a lot of progress over the years but it still isn t
enough to protect the LGBT community. In this country today can get married on Saturday post
pictures on the wedding online on sunday and be fired from their job or evicted from the apartment on
monday for their sexual orientation. There needs to a national law protected everyone from any form
of discrimination.
If you ask someone if it is illegal to fire someone if they re gay they will most likely say yes but that s
not the case in most of the country. This is why we as a country need to push for better laws protecting
LGBT members and their rights. Until lawmakers put aside their religious and anti gay beliefs and
give LGBT members their basic right do they don t have to live in fear or losing there home or job just
because of who they

Animal Farm And The Green Mile By Stephen King
For tenth grade Honors English we had to read Animal Farm by George Orwell, and The Green Mile
by Stephen King. We then had to choose one literary device and discus how both authors used it in
their books. I chose symbolism because it leaves the reader with a new way of thinking about
communism and the death row, it adds more depth to the story, and it makes a connection with two
different times in history. Webster Dictionary defends symbolism as 1) representation by symbols, 2) a
system of symbols, and 3) symbolic meaning. Symbolism plays an important role in both Animal farm
and The Green Mile.
In 1943, George Orwell could not get his book published because the publishers noticed that the

Jingles when he was running to get the spool that Eduard Delacroix (which is one of the inmates) had
thrown. He was almost dead, but then John Coffey picked him up and Mr. Jingles tail was no longer
dying of pendulum it was snapping briskly from side to side, like a cat in a bird catching mood. And
then, from inside Coffey s append hands, came a perfectly familiar squeak. (King 265). John Coffey
healed a mouse that had been stomped on by Percy; he also healed Paul s UTI. Helped, he said. I
helped it didn t I? (King 185). He also healed Melly of her brain tumor John Coffey pulled away from
her, and I saw that her face had smoothed out. (King 406). John Coffey has the powers to heal the sick
the stuffing and the dying. John Coffey is symbolizing a saint. He was sent by God to help people and
animals that needed his help. Coffey head both Paul and Mr. Jingles and consequently both of them
lived longer than they normally would have. I may have a few years more years, men still live longer
than mice, I guess, but Mr. Jingles time is just about up. (King 523). A normal rat is supposed to live
for about two to three years, but when Mr. Jingles died he was about 65 years old, and Paul was over
104 years old. Stephen King uses symbolism in his book The Green Mile to create a new way of
thinking about the death row for the reader.

Finding Common Ground And Interests
Finding Common Ground / Interests An overriding framework of value creation, exploration of
opportunities, interests and common goals was identified by both parties from the onset of the
negotiation. Both groups where able to find common ground through setting out all issues processes
and procedures of the negotiation, the understanding of each other s issues opens the possibilities of
collaboration and a win win (Falcao, 2010). Within all negotiations there is a point where both parties
present their positions and provide the expectations they hope to receive from the negotiation.
Collaboration provides the opportunity for both parties to frame the requirements and limits expressed
previously in the negotiation and work collaboratively to provide solutions that would be mutually
beneficial for both parties (Fisher Ury, 1981). Within collaboration both parties require the foresight
and key behaviours to ensure a successful outcome, both parties are required to be open minded on the
possibilities of value creation and goals to ensure parties are not committed to one single answer
(Fisher Ury, 1981). Negotiators are required to be mindful that goals can be achieved through multiple
routes and exploration is required to achieve valued propositions for all parties, this may include
parties making concessions on original positions to ensure a positive outcome. With the making of
concessions parties are also required to be mindful of the goals the organisation or person are

Marginalism Of John Bates Clark
Quiz 1 Do you agree or disagree with the analysis states below I disagree with the analysis that state
the irrationality of Marginalism of John Bates Clark. Clark was a neoclassical economist who was
denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the
Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot
calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of
everything. Clarke s view on the Marginalist theory is that it basis upon formal rationality and purely
technical meaning that Marginalist presumably that people are rational and self interest and will
maximized owns benefits, Marginalist also assume that people are mathematics and calculate ... Show

Clarke argue that this assumption of Marginalist is wrong, because human is social animal, when
people are placed in the society we tend to have difference decisions from living alone we are
influenced by others. So Clarke stated that people must take society into account, we need to care
about the society. My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only
looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory
and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of
people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . In reality, what s the theory implied is that
whatever a person value as his own happiness, he has already taken into his account his value may not
be due to the society, what s matter is that a person does calculate his own

The Effects Of Weather On The United States Tornadoes
The Roots of Frequent United States Tornadoes
Tornadoes happen all throughout the United States, as well as other parts of the world. Tornadoes are
created when colder air meets with the warmer air, creating an unstable weather environment. The
United States, according to Friedman (2013), leads the world in sheer volume of tornadoes. The
geographic features of the United States affect the frequent appearance of tornadoes across the nation.
Tornadoes often appear in the United States, which may come in various extents. Depending on the
instability of air inducing the tornado, they may appear in devastating sizes, or less overwhelming
breadth, with passive winds. Even though tornadoes can form on any land mass, given the right
conditions, the United States is more frequently hit with tornadoes than any other country, but what
effects lead to the frequent appearance of meager or extensive tornadoes across the nation? Of course
we all know a tornado is hazardous situation to be placed in, and they come during bad storms.
stormaware.mo.gov, defines a tornado as a Rotating, funnel shaped cloud that extends from a
thunderstorm to the ground with whirling winds that can reach 300 miles per hour (2 para. 1).
Tornadoes come in a wide variety of sizes and strengths, each of which are variables to the total
amount of damage assessed. The total damage brought by a single tornado is how tornadoes are
classified. The original scale of tornado classification was the Fujita

The New Term Of School At The Citadel
School at the Citadel was not what he had envisioned or even close to what he would have ever
expected. To start this nightmare off with a proper fright, he was smarter than those in all his classes
and that caused quite a few problems. These were separate problems than those that had begun the
first moment he was announced at the first student s gathering to begin the new term of school. Just
sitting in each of his assigned classes with others as his teachers spoke strongly that they saw little use
in trying to teach a student who should be a teacher himself. For them, just the thought of doing so
would be a challenge they may not be up to overcome. This being said over and over again where
many could hear, did very little to give aid to him fitting in with those of his term or even slightly
older. What followed next was even worse. It didn t take long for him to realize why no one would
talk to him or the other person who had traveled with him from their home village did all he could not
to be seen with him. It was only when one girl was spoken too strongly by another not to go anywhere
near him or they might lose more than their head being removed is when his blood heated. He stormed
up to where the servant girl who was being yelled at without the person doing the chastising knowing
he was standing behind her. He simply asked the girl in the costly dress what could possibly be the
reason why any servant girl should be denied doing as she wished and

  • 2. The People s Republic Of China On October 1, 1949 General Mao Zedong stood upon the steps of the Zhang Zhenshi, and announced Zhongguo will become the People s Republic of China. This act propelled China into a closed market, red country. Later on, China would become a closed market country; this would end in the late 1980 s when China became an open market country. Since then China s economy has been growing faster than any other economy in the world, and creating relationships with many countries including the United States. As China continues to boom and increase relations with the United States, fear in the U.S. has increased as well. The sudden thrust into communism for the people China lead to many issues. One of which was noticed right away. One of the largest problems of communism is the idea that all people make the same amount of money despite their profession. This lead to unrest of the citizens; riots started to occur, and the demand for change was high. Along with the communistic ideas, China became cut off from the rest of the world. Trade was minimal and their economy was closed to the rest of the world. This in itself lead to tremendous amounts of problems as the population of China kept growing. There was little food to feed the massive population, or enough goods and supplies. As the 1980 s approached, and the death of Zedong in 1976, change was needed. In 1986 New China emerged, the closed market economy opened back up to the world, and China was a time capsule closed since the 50 s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Writing Of The Barbarian The barbarian snarled, a war cry bursting from his lips as he ambled toward me. His leather boots kicked dust up from the arena floor as he moved in a slow circle, trying to get his back to the sun and diminish my line of sight. It was a good trick, but there was just one problem with that. I knew what he was trying to do. Even if I could keep him from blinding me, that hulking axe of his would do some major damage. If he hit me with that, no amount of blocking would keep my head from getting caved in like a casaba melon. Unfortunately, I was only good up close. I d have to engage him sooner or later, and since his arms were longer than mine, I d have to be quick. Even a cursory blow from him would mean trouble since the wardings on his gauntlets let me know he had ogre strength. That said, I d done this dance a million times before. The key was to not get frazzled. No, I had to stay calm. If I was calm, I could win. At least in theory. Unfortunately, it was always easier to tell yourself to be calm than to actually calm down. On the other hand, it was always a lot easier to piss the other guy off. Have you heard the one about your mother? I asked, a grin melting across my face as I stepped back, trying to put space between me and his big axe. The muscles in his legs twitched as I spoke, letting me know he was about to attack. You probably have, it s huge. Another snarl tore from his throat as he leapt toward me, huge twin bladed axe cleaving through the air in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Steady Decline of Salmon Populations From the San Francisco Bay to streams and rivers of Oregon, salmon populations have been steadily decreasing over the past two decades but more rapidly within recent years. In general, fish populations in the Pacific Northwest region have always fluctuated, but the overall trend continues on a downward slope to extinction. While natural phenomena such as flooding and predators of the food chain do affect salmon populations, human activity poses the greatest threat by far. The four main reasons of salmon plummeting are as followed: Harvest, Hatcheries, Hydropower, and Habitat. It s clear that water ecosystems and management of human activity threaten salmon as a whole. Whether it s a bay, river or stream whatever body of water that contains salmon should be subject to ethics that guide our actions as a part of achieving a better overall environment. Salmon have a truly incredible life cycle. Like all fish, salmon spawn from female eggs and then go on to develop into alevin, which is a term for newly hatched fish. First off, they derive nourishment from the yolk sac from where the salmon are born. Once the sac has been absorbed, the fry, or baby fish, then emerges from the river gravel and starts the search for food. Fry instinctively deal with the river currents and learn to swim together as a school right away. Anywhere from a couple days to two years old, fry will continue to live in fresh water until they start the next, smolting, phase. Smolting is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Perspectives On Amsterdam s Energy System Final Exam Perspectives on Amsterdam Lance Gloss #11357592 Responses follow. Question 1 In recent years, Amsterdam s energy system has been revolutionized by decentralization and process flow controls. According to Ger Baron, rather than a single energy provider, Amsterdam now has over 600. The city can now limit power outages to certain neighborhoods, and prioritize other areas where power supply should never be cut off. Wisely employed, these systems can improve Amsterdam s resilience, defined by Gunderson and Holling as the capacity of cities to undergo disturbance and maintain its functions and controls (qtd. in Jabareen 2013). Wise use means taking a rational, ethical, and scale sensitive approach. With a coherent action plan, the city should benefit from these tools. Any neighborhood to lose power will suffer in the short and long term. To prioritize, we must be able to step back and see the city as a system comprised of smaller, unequal parts, and understand how different neighborhoods might be differently vulnerable in case of an outage. Evidently, major infrastructure like hospitals and transit nodes should be most protected from outages. While such infrastructures are locally embedded, they provide crucial services to the whole city and outlying areas. Beyond infrastructure, the issue is more nuanced. However, on close inspection, the ethical choice is also the practical one. Power outages should be allowed in the most advantaged areas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also if soldiers are told specifically to maintain a clean and sanitary barracks room then they are verbally ordered to keep that room clean and thus if they decide to live in an unsuited room that is consistently filthy and unsanitary then they are violating a direct lawful order and are subject to Article 92 of the Universal Code of Military Justice which states the following: 892. It is shocking to know that slavery was acceptable back then and how it differs greatly from slavery in other ancient times. The most popular example of slavery in the Bible was when the Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians, and Moses was called by God to deliver them to the Promised Land (Exodus 14). Many times, people in the Bible will use their own indentured servants or actual servant as slaves. • 13. Computer Based Systems And Its Effects On The Workplace Introduction The use of a timeclock to monitor only select employees negatively impacts the workplace, as it creates an environment that lacks trust and causes morale to plummet. Even so, many good intentioned managers implement timeclocks as a way to manage some, or all employees, believing this will be a way to keep employees honest as well as become a money saving endeavor. What they fail to realize is that it can actually cost the company in several ways; it may lead to financial loss for the company in unearned wages and can be the cause of losing quality employees. Punching a timeclock is not a new idea. The original Bundy timeclock was patented in 1890 by Willard Le Grand Bundy in Auburn, New York. Today, computer based systems are used in conjunction with magnetic stripe cards, barcodes, RFID (radio frequency identification) chips, and even biometric scans to monitor the coming and goings of employees. (Wikipedia, 2015) The clocks are meant to encourage promptness and decrease unwarranted overtime, but some employees feel singled out and that they are being punished for the indiscretions of others. Dee Haverrn recently posted an online discussion about being made to clock in as a Registered Nurse, I resent being treated like a factory worker. Their names had been cried out by tormented young girls as the cause of their pain. All would await trial for a crime punishable by death in 17th century New England, the practice of witchcraft. This excerpt from an article about the Salem Witch Trials embodies the concept of punishment which the Puritans embraced. As shown, Puritans applied ideals of punishment and discipline to prevent sinful behavior, which proves to beneficial in controlling such events. Many individuals increasingly view Puritan doctrines in a negative light. However, these morals actually keep communities well maintained and religiously aware of sin and its consequences. Puritan morals are beneficial to societies because they encourage the avoidance of unholy activities, increased self control, and moderation of behavior. To begin with, Puritan communities largely condemned individuals for minor sins which usually are not considered worthy of extreme punishment, such as excessive drinking. During the Industrial Revolution in the colonial time period, the majority of male factory workers resorted to heavy drinking to distract from the daily hardships and struggles which were prominent at the time. As a result, alcohol was banned from the communities, leading to a major decrease in consumption. He tackles head on with numerous diverse incorrect musings and convictions identified with missions and he gives a brief scriptural reply to each of them. In every one, he explains why missions have either floundered or succeeded. Piper exhibits a perfection in missions which has the glory of God as its preeminent, larger purpose. The Argument Against Gay Marriges Arguments against gay marriges Though there are differences in the views of different faiths, conservative Protestants, the Catholic Church, Mormons, traditional Jews, and Muslims share two fundamental antigay arguments. The first is that homosexuality is wrong because it involves sex that doesn t create life. In the case of Judaism, a key Bible passage is the story of Onan (Links to an external site.), who sleeps with his dead brother s wife but, to avoid giving his brother offspring, doesn t ejaculate inside her. One Islamic hadith explains that Allah will not look at the man who commits sodomy with a man or a woman. These songs help showcase the trends, behaviors, and even struggles of different time periods. With that being said, one may ask What all did the musical group Green Day contribute to society? . Green Day is a pop punk/alternative rock band formed in 1986. The band consists of three members: Billie Joe Armstrong (lead singer), Mike Dirnt (bass and backing vocals), and Tré Cool (drums and percussion). The band known as Green Day originally formed in Berkeley, California by Armstrong and Dirnt, and was initially titled Sweet Children. The two were only fourteen years old at the time they founded their band. In 1988, Lookout! Records owner, Larry Livermore, signed a deal with the group to be part of his label. Shortly after being signed, the band s name was changed to Green Day as a result of Armstrong s and Dirnt s love for marijuana (also to prevent confusion with another west coast pop punk band, Sweet Baby). • 39. Draft And Outline Of David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals The Pain of Animals Draft and Outline The Pain of Animals is an article written by David Suzuki and published in 1989. The writer discusses that humans are using other species for their benefits and causing them pain by scientific experiments as well as by pleasure purposes. This results in the extinction of many species and disrupts the ecosystem. Moreover, David Suzuki s main point throughout this article is to explain and convince readers that animals have body systems similar to humans and they also feel fear and pain. In addition, he discusses that it is unethical to cause pain in animals for humans own benefits. Suzuki s main thesis of this article is a discussion about the similarities between human rights and animal rights. He also focuses on animals used for research due to their similarities such as their bodies, responses, and nervous system with humans. In addition, humans use them for pleasure which cause them fear and pain that is unethical. Suzuki has persuaded readers by connecting his childhood experience of hunting and fishing as well as moments he realized that it is painful for the animals. Specifically, the description about the holes in the fish s mouth and the pain and fear from it in the fish is very touching to the readers. Moreover, Suzuki made an effective discussion by talking about animal s life after being tested if they survive. He made readers to think and feel about the pain of animals by his emotional questions, What gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other creatures don t feel pain or anguish just as we do? Perhaps there s no problem with fruit flies, but where do we draw the line? (Suzuki, 1989, p.681). Suzuki s main purpose is to convince the audience that animals feel pain and it is unethical to make animals suffer from pain for our benefits. Suzuki suggests that it is not wise to use animals for research as well as for our pleasure to the extent that results in extinction. Suzuki mentioned in his article about medical research and experiments of Jane Goodall using chimpanzees greatly affect the population of chimpanzees. Furthermore, human moves animals from their homes and lands to zoos for education and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Diversity Of A New Rocket Ship The topic of diversity is an ever growing discussion to encourage inclusion of different people, cultures, and backgrounds into the global marketplace. In my issue paper, I will explore the idea of diversity, its benefits, and how it can be included within key sectors of the business world. Diversity is an important factor to the business place that allows employees and customers to interact with companies that value their background as an essential part of their business plan company culture. There are a myriad of benefits that diversity brings can bring to a company but most of my readings reflected on three main ideas of driving innovation, bettering recruitment, and capturing the global market. Diversity of race, gender, and social view can increase innovation and creativity. How does diversity do this? When different people are brought together to complete a task or solve a problem, they are bringing different information, perspective, and opinions. The need for diversity of expertise is obvious: the building of a new rocket ship requires the expertise of designers, engineers, and quality control experts. But informational diversity brings unique dimensions and experiences to thinking through a task. Oftentimes being with those that are similar to us can lead us to think that we hold the same details and information or share the same perspective, which hinders creativity and innovation. Being in diverse groups can lead us to asking more questions and more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Armstrong Vs Descartes Essay Armstrong makes it clear in his paper, that the mind can best be explained by modern science. He states, at present the drift of scientific thought is clearly set towards the physico chemical hypothesis. And we have nothing better to go on than the present (Armstrong 280). This states that he strongly believes that the mind is unified as a functional system and the facts of science can best show what the mind really is. He then goes on to inform us, it is only as a result of scientific investigation that we ever seem to reach an intellectual consensus about controversial matters (Armstrong 280). He holds the idea that only through science and solid theory, will the people all be able to come to an agreement on something that can be disputed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One major difference between their thoughts on the mind would be that Descartes believes that the mind is a non physical cause while Armstrong believes that it is a physical cause. This difference may seem small when you compare it to the two philosophers similarities, but it can cause much debate. Descartes states in his writing of Meditation I, I will obstinately concentrate on this meditation and will thus ensure by mental resolution that, if I do not really have the ability to know the truth, I will at least withhold assent from what is false and from what a deceiver may try to put over on me (Descartes 159). Descartes cannot be certain that we are not dreaming nor all victims of an all powerful deceiver. These two philosophers do not agree on whether or not the mind is a physical cause, but they do both that other minds are knowable in an indirect manner. I understand the argument of both philosophers, but I agree more with the understanding that our mind is a physical cause. I am more of a scientific and facts person so the idea that we are being deceived by someone and we do not realize it really does not make sense to me. We do understand the fact that we do not know everything and I firmly believe that we never will. Theory is called theory for a reason and not fact because it has not been proven. We can study and learn new things all we want, but we have to understand that as we learn new things, we will only uncover more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Serial Peripheral Interphase The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a synchronous bi directional (full duplex) serial data protocol used by microcontrollers to enable communication between one or more peripheral devices that are all of short distances to one another. Furthermore, it can also be used for communication between two microcontrollers; with particular interest between Arduino boards and Multiwii flight controllers. In general, an SPI data link consists of one master; typically a microcontroller which controls one or more peripheral devices known as slaves. Both the master and the slaves share three common lines which include; MISO (Master In Slave Out) which is responsible for transferring data from the slave to the master; MOSI (Master Out Slave In) which is responsible for transferring data from the master to the slaves; and SCK (Serial Clock) which is created by the master and is responsible for synchronising the transmission of data between master and slave in respect clock pulses. There is also SS (Slave Select) line that is specific to a pin on each slave device and in which the master can use to enable and disable specific slave devices. In the case a slave device s SS pin is low, communication is enabled with the master. However in the case it is high, communication is disabled with the master. This allows multiple devices using SPI to share common MISO, MOSI, and CLK lines. Full duplex data transmission occurs during each clock cycle generated by the master in which the master ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Religious Freedom Restoration Act passed in Indiana is one example just a way to legalize discrimination against gays: any business owner could now refuse to serve them simply by citing a religious objection. Why do laws like these get pass. Its because of religious congressmen and women who put their beliefs in the bible on religion over the laws they are supposed to uphold and protect. Luckily some of these laws have been proven to be unconstitutional under the supreme court but only after years of activist fighting them. We have made a lot of progress over the years but it still isn t enough to protect the LGBT community. In this country today can get married on Saturday post pictures on the wedding online on sunday and be fired from their job or evicted from the apartment on monday for their sexual orientation. There needs to a national law protected everyone from any form of discrimination. If you ask someone if it is illegal to fire someone if they re gay they will most likely say yes but that s not the case in most of the country. This is why we as a country need to push for better laws protecting LGBT members and their rights. • 45. Animal Farm And The Green Mile By Stephen King For tenth grade Honors English we had to read Animal Farm by George Orwell, and The Green Mile by Stephen King. We then had to choose one literary device and discus how both authors used it in their books. I chose symbolism because it leaves the reader with a new way of thinking about communism and the death row, it adds more depth to the story, and it makes a connection with two different times in history. Webster Dictionary defends symbolism as 1) representation by symbols, 2) a system of symbols, and 3) symbolic meaning. Symbolism plays an important role in both Animal farm and The Green Mile. • 47. Finding Common Ground And Interests Finding Common Ground / Interests An overriding framework of value creation, exploration of opportunities, interests and common goals was identified by both parties from the onset of the negotiation. Both groups where able to find common ground through setting out all issues processes and procedures of the negotiation, the understanding of each other s issues opens the possibilities of collaboration and a win win (Falcao, 2010). Within all negotiations there is a point where both parties present their positions and provide the expectations they hope to receive from the negotiation. Collaboration provides the opportunity for both parties to frame the requirements and limits expressed previously in the negotiation and work collaboratively to provide solutions that would be mutually beneficial for both parties (Fisher Ury, 1981). Within collaboration both parties require the foresight and key behaviours to ensure a successful outcome, both parties are required to be open minded on the possibilities of value creation and goals to ensure parties are not committed to one single answer (Fisher Ury, 1981). Negotiators are required to be mindful that goals can be achieved through multiple routes and exploration is required to achieve valued propositions for all parties, this may include parties making concessions on original positions to ensure a positive outcome. With the making of concessions parties are also required to be mindful of the goals the organisation or person are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clark was a neoclassical economist who was denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of everything. Clarke s view on the Marginalist theory is that it basis upon formal rationality and purely technical meaning that Marginalist presumably that people are rational and self interest and will maximized owns benefits, Marginalist also assume that people are mathematics and calculate ... My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . • 49. The Effects Of Weather On The United States Tornadoes The Roots of Frequent United States Tornadoes Tornadoes happen all throughout the United States, as well as other parts of the world. Tornadoes are created when colder air meets with the warmer air, creating an unstable weather environment. The United States, according to Friedman (2013), leads the world in sheer volume of tornadoes. The geographic features of the United States affect the frequent appearance of tornadoes across the nation. Tornadoes often appear in the United States, which may come in various extents. Depending on the instability of air inducing the tornado, they may appear in devastating sizes, or less overwhelming breadth, with passive winds. Even though tornadoes can form on any land mass, given the right conditions, the United States is more frequently hit with tornadoes than any other country, but what effects lead to the frequent appearance of meager or extensive tornadoes across the nation? Of course we all know a tornado is hazardous situation to be placed in, and they come during bad storms. stormaware.mo.gov, defines a tornado as a Rotating, funnel shaped cloud that extends from a thunderstorm to the ground with whirling winds that can reach 300 miles per hour (2 para. 1). These were separate problems than those that had begun the first moment he was announced at the first student s gathering to begin the new term of school. Just sitting in each of his assigned classes with others as his teachers spoke strongly that they saw little use in trying to teach a student who should be a teacher himself. This being said over and over again where many could hear, did very little to give aid to him fitting in with those of his term or even slightly older. What followed next was even worse.
