Cleisthenes As An Opportunist
Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to
c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of
opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up
the rule of Cleisthenesas he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he
was given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will
argue that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very
principled in nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and
events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the
opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family.
To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is
during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in
parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with
Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason
most historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from
Herodotus histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals
for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his

Why does the mailbox have to be so far? Zuri thinks to herself as she turns the corner of North
Broadview Avenue and Red Wood Road. As she rounds the corner she looks up only in time to
see a white Lincoln town car barreling towards her and barely manages to jump backwards as it
screeches to a stop right where she had been standing a few second ago. A tall, young black man
hops out of the car and walks over to Zuri asking Are you all right? as he reaches out his hand to
help her up. Yeah I think so. She replies as she gets up and dust herself off and looks around for
her keys. What you looking for? the young man asks. My keys I lost them when I jumped out of

Damnation of a Canyon
The Damnation of a Canyon By Edward Abbey Not many people know of the used to be 150
mile excursion that the Glen Canyon had to offer. Not many people know how to sail a raft
down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that
come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money.
Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an
environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the
border of Utah and Arizona. He is one of the few that have actually seen the way Glen Canyon
was before they changed it into a reservoir. Today, that lake is used by over a million

He seems to argue the В‘wheelchair ethos of the wealthy, upper middle class American slob .
Well, excuse the people who were born paralyzed from the waist down, and would like to
experience the forces nature in its natural state of beauty and grace. He seems to generalize the
typical population of people who visit Lake Powell on an unscientific basis, upper middle class
American slobs. So does that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such
recreational activity? And that we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own
environment? One last point in which should be heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now
that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days,
and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down a river. In today s society people
don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get a nice speedboat, buy real
food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We enjoy the freshness of a
shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food with the right bit of
garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. Even if they did take down the dam and offer
such rafting trips, do you honestly think a person could leave their cell phone at home? In
conclusion, I do think that Edward Abbey made a great

Global Flow of Silver Dbq Essays
The global flow of silver managed to redefine the social structure in many societies, as well as
dramatically altered the basis of the economy in many European and Asian countries. Despite the
economic change that came from the mass production of silver and its use as a standard currency,
the growth of the silverindustry brought as much change socially and culturally as it brought
economic transformation. Many people viewed the conversion to silver being the standardized
currency as a huge hindrance to their daily lives, but the silver industry brought wealthto many
societies and became a necessity in trade. On one side of things, the flow of silver throughout the
world brought a wave of economic change, as mentioned in documents3,5,6,... Show more content

Documents 3,5,6, 7 and 8 all mention how the economy changed dramatically due to the arrival
and growth of silver as a currency. In document 3, a Ming dynasty court official writes about
how the silver coin is hard to come by because the government is hoarding all of it. They take
silver for taxes but do not redistribute it to the people. He is writing this because he is trying to
convince the emperor to distribute the silver more appropriately to the people, and because his
family is obviously not doing well financially. He is a court official who most likely has small
influence in the government and writes in hopes of getting the emperor to consider spreading the
wealth to the lower classes of China, to save his family, and other families like his. Document 5
expresses a different, but somewhat related view about how silver has become a hindrance to
regular business interactions, because customers can no longer trade items of their own to
purchase goods, they have to go through a lengthy process to pay everything in silver. Document 6
shows a counter point of view about the wealth that the mining of silver has brought to Spain.
Document 7 is a report written to convince the emperor of China that there is much wealth to be
found in foreign trade, because of how much silver some countries will pay for Chinese goods.
Finally, document 8 examines how European countries are able to purchase Asian commodities
freely because of their immense supply

The response to each carbohydrate was quantified when the respective carbohydrate was given
alone in a drink or when given in combination with protein and fat in a test meal. The data
demonstrate that (1) fructose ingestion resulted in significantly lower serum glucose and insulin
responses than did sucrose or dextrose ingestion in all study groups, either when given alone or in
the test meal; (2) although fructose ingestion always led to the least glycemic response compared
with the other hexoses, the serum glucose response to fructose was increased the more glucose
intolerant the subject; (3) urinary glucose excretion during the 3 h after carbohydrate ingestion was
greatest after dextrose and least after fructose in all groups. In conclusion, fructose ingestion results

The Destruction of the Bison Essay example
Andrew Isenberg said that the destruction of the bison was not merely the result of human agency
but the consequence of the interaction of human society with a dynamic environment. Humans and
nature both played a large role in the ultimate demise of the bison.
Bison have been around for 10,000 years. Their ancestors where known as giant bison and they
were hunted by the paleoindians that came over on the Bering Strait. The giant bison however
became extinct because the paleoindians hunted them and at the end of the last ice age, most of
the vegetation they fed off of was destroyed. Dwarf bison, the bison that are around today,
survived the ice age because the dwarf bison were faster, reproduced more rapidly and required less

Horses worked their way across the plains during the 1700 1750 s which made most tribes into
equestrian nomads rather than semi sedentary nomads. The increase of intertribal trade was a new
form of ecological safety net: the Indians depended on trade rather than their own labor to ensure
diversity of resources (Isenberg 47) because they only hunted for bison now.
The nomads started trading with the euroamericans; they could trade bison skins for alcohol,
small tools, knifes needles, guns and horses. This became known as the fur trade, which made
the nomads specialize in hunting. These were all things that made the nomads lives easier; they
would hunt more bison so they could trade for the goods. Trading goods made the nomads lives
easier but it also exposed them to European diseases, such as small pox, which wiped out large
numbers of their tribes. They had to rely on bison to sustain themselves, in a time when they didn t
have enough people left to maintain a village properly. This was when the bison s population took
one of its initial declines because they were now being commercially exploited.
Bison fed on grasses in the Great Plains, grasses were at their peak in the summer time when they
grew the most. The taller the grass the more carbohydrates they possessed, so that is when bison
gathered in large groups to eat the grasses and mate. Autumn was also the most dry period of the

Cause And Effect Of Tsunami
How is a tsunami caused?
There are different ways of how a tsunami is caused. A tsunami is a series of waves created by an
abrupt movement on the ocean floor that can result from an earthquake, meteorite or a volcanic
eruption. However, powerful undersea earthquakes are responsible for most tsunamis. For example,
on the 11th of March 2011 a devastating tsunami occurred on the east coast of Japan, which was
caused by an earthquake at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The magnitude of the earthquake
which caused the Japanese tsunami was recorded as 9.1 on the richer scale. This was very similar
to the tsunami that occurred on the 26th of December in the Indian Ocean, which had a huge impact
on many countries such as India, Thailand and Indonesia. The magnitude of the earthquake that
occurred in the Indian Ocean was also 9.1 on the richer scale.
Where the disasters most commonly occur
Tsunamis can occur anywhere in the world where land meets the ocean. Two of the most recent
large scale tsunamis in modern history was in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean which
mainly effected India and Japan respectively. Tsunamis potentially threaten every coastal area and
river system in the world. However, they are most likely to occur on shores directly facing a large
body of water where an undersea earthquake may occur. Scientists estimate that almost three
quarters of the worlds tsunamis occur in the Pacific Ocean as this is the largest ocean in the entire
world.

The Psychological Theory Of Bystanders-Darley And Latane
Bystanders Darley and Latane (1968 ) = an individual not helping someone needing help or
assistance when passive bystander is present Sources: Crane textbook pg. 264 267 Experiments:
According to the theory, the presence of other people or just the perception that other people are
witnessing the event will decrease the likelihood that an individual will intervene in an emergency
due to psychological processes like: Diffusion of responsibility: Responsibility is diffused when
more bystanders are present and this reduces the psychological costs of not intervening.
Informational social influence (pluralistic ignorance): If the situation is ambiguous people will
look to other people around to see what they do. Evaluation apprehension: Individual bystanders

World Cities: Tokyo and Mexico City
Introduction
World cities are home to some of the most innovative thinkers on the planet. Two world cities
numbering among the largest in population size are Tokyo and Mexico City, and each of these cities
are known for their global advancements. Tokyo is a center for fashion and precision
technology. While Mexico City is leading the way with technology to reduce their carbon

very diverse family and chose to visit very different countries, and very different cities, each where
several of my cousins were located.
Profile of Tokyo Tokyo is located on the largest of the islands of Japan, Honshu. It borders the

Germany in World War II. During World War II, both Germany and Japan thought that they had

Lady Eboshi In Princess Mononoke
Throughout the movie Princess Mononoke, Lady Eboshi is portrayed as a negative character.
Although Lady Eboshi actions may come off as negative, I do believe throughout the movie she
also has many positive characteristics. Lady Eboshi has two very different sides to her. On one
hand she cares deeply about the people within her town and has made work for everyone who has
been rejected by society and on the other hand cares very much so about her power and what she
can do to get more. Although Lady Eboshi cares for everyone in her gated community she cares
more about the woman than the men. Throughout the movie there are many examples of Eboshis
feminist attitude but a clear one is the power and work she gives the women within her community.

People who have not experience the south or even being around African American women do
not know how they act or talk or even if they have different behaviors than us. That sounds
ridiculous to some people who have been to the south and lived there growing up, but everything

to the South how would you know? Alice Walker makes it seem as if you have experienced the
south and the women living there by how she takes about them in her short story. One of the things
that really stands out is how everyone is very concerned about heritage. Dee even views her
heritage as an artifact that she can posses and appreciate from a distance. She thinks about
everything in a different way than everyone else in this story. She sees how everything can be

Elimintating the Electoral College Essay examples
Elimintating the Electoral College
Judging by the way things are looking with this year s election, the Electoral College is not
benefiting American citizens. People fight both sides of the system, but the truth of the matter is
that although the Electoral College has been in place for over 200 years, Americans are still not
sure how it works or if it is the best method. Our country is supposed to be a symbol of democracy,
but to this day, American electionsare not truly democratic, for there are no direct Presidential
elections.

But this year, that is not the case. The media frequently refer to this year s presidential election
as one of the most competitive in recent history, perhaps since 1960 when Kennedy won with
34,227,096 popular votes to Nixon s 34,107,646. In the final sprint of the marathon 2000
presidential campaign, Democratic nominee Al Gore and Republican nominee George W. Bush
are neck and neck. Particularly in a contest close as this one, the Electoral College warps national
politics and could lead to a major constitutional crisis. So, with a race this tight, it is entirely
conceivable that one candidate may win the popular vote and still lose the election. This would
mark the first time since 1888 that the president elect lost the popular vote. Since it has happened
three times before in American history, in 1824, 1876 and 1888, it could certainly happen again.
In 1824, John Quincy Adams received fewer electoral votes and fewer popular votes than his
opponent Andrew Jackson but won the election when the House of Representatives favored him by
six state votes. Then again, in 1876, Rutherford B. Hayes beat Samuel J. Tilden with just one
electoral vote in spite of having lost the popular vote. It was a contentious victory because the
electoral votes of four states were disputed until eventually

Telescreens In 1984 Essay
Imagine the World as a place with screens that watch ones every move, and microphones placed in
every wall, and a posters stating BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU. Ultimately, people would
behave a lot differently when someone is watching their every move, in terms of thinking twice
before they blurt words out and thinking about the actions they commit. Winston Smith is a
member of the outer party, in which his every move is watched. He lives in Oceania, where a
totalitarian governmentis established and every sound, move, or thought is look over. The members
of society are constantly being watched, and the government controls their actions and thoughts. In

was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you are in a public place or within
range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away (60). The telescreens dispersed
throughout the town of Oceania can detect ones mood in any setting, which frightens the
population of Oceania. Life, if you looked about you, bore no resemblance not only to the lies
that streamed out of the telescreens, but even in the ideals that the party was trying to achive. As
Winston is arriving at his flat, a voice announces over the telescreen and can detect any slight
sound Winston makes. There was of coarse no way of knowing whether you were being watched

Goal Setting Is An Best Way For Students With Track And...
Goal setting is an excellent way for students to track and improve upon physical fitness levels.
The importance of being able to set goals and to try to achieve them is that each individual
student can assess where they are and set goals to improve. Not all students can achieve the same
fitness standards. Some students are born with more muscle mass or more fast twitch muscle
fibers than other students. Some students have asthma or other physical difficulties that make it
difficult to measure up with other students when all students are required to get a certain score on
a fitness test to get an A. Using goal setting where all students can be successful by reaching their
goals and showing improvement could be a positive influence for future motivation. While
problem based learning can help students to learn and use goal setting (Hubball 2006), goal
setting may not always help students to achieve greater fitness levels. Hill (2015) found that those
students who set goals over an 18 week period did not have any significant improvement over those
students that did not set goals on the pacer and push up tests. Similarly, in another study looking at
the effects of goal setting on Native elders found only a weak correlation between goal setting and
improvement on the amount of steps taken in a day using a pedometer (Sawchuck 2011). The
problem with this study was that the researchers set the goals for the participants. It may be more
important that students set their own

Three Examples Of Saturated Fats
Lactose intolerance and Fats
What are saturated fat; three examples of saturated fats
These are fat that is made up of atoms that are very dense and the hydrogen atoms fully join with
carbon atoms with no double bonds. This makes the carbon atoms in the fat s molecular structure to
be fully saturated with hydrogen atoms. Three examples of saturated fats are; 1) Butyric acid milk
(especially buffalo, goat, and sheep), butter, Parmesan cheese. 2)Lauric acid coconut oil, palm
kernel oil, laurel oil. 3) Myristic acid nutmeg, coconut oil, palm kernel oil and butterfat.
(Wikipedia,2015)
What are unsaturated fats; three examples of saturated fats:
Unsaturated fat is a fatty acid that has one or more double bonds. These double bonds eliminates
hydrogen atom from the molecular fatty acid chain. This makes unsaturated fats unsaturated with
hydrogen atoms. Three examples of unsaturated fats includes: walnuts, olive oil and cashew nuts.

Trans fat are more commonly man made from vegetable oil. The vegetable oil are heated or
hydrogenated to create the trans fat. Three examples of foods that use trans fat are margarine,
biscuit and frozen pizza. (Wikipedia,2015)
Why might food producers add hydrogen atoms to a vegetable oil
They would do this because vegetable oils are unsaturated with hydrogen atoms; by adding
hydrogen atoms to the vegetable oil; it will make the liquid vegetable oils into solid or semi
solid fats. This will make the vegetable oil fat more dense and thus make it more desirable for use
in baking. The dense properties are more desirable for use in baking because of the more wanted
texture vs the texture that would be made with the natural unsaturated vegetable oils. (wikipedia,

Personalization In Health And Social Care Case Study
2.3 Personalization and Privacy Concern
In the rapidly developing mobile health market, MHS providers need personalized services
increasingly in order to attract customers and capture the market. Meanwhile, it will involve the
issues of users privacy inevitably, and this seems to be an adoption behavior paradox. On the one
hand, users enjoy personalized mobile health services, but on the other hand, they are reluctant to
disclose their personal information or as little as possible. To illustrate privacyconcerns and
personalization, they will be discussed in detail separately.

Romanticism As A Source Of Spirituality
Classification
Romanticism is a time period in history based on a cultural revolution. It is defined differently
based on geographical location, however it overall incorporates the same common principles: (1)
imagination, (2) individuality, (3) nature as a source of spirituality, (4) looking to the past for
wisdom, and (5) seeing the common man as a hero. These common principles are what inspired
writers and artists of the time to fabricate ideas. This is how the period got named romanticism for
the term romantic, [was] long synonymous with false, fictitious and unnatural (Courthion, 1961, p.
7). Defining the movement is what overtime pulled the art community away from the previous
baroque era. By the late 1700s romance thus had come to refer broadly to any work that could be
distinguished from works principally realistic in form and subject matter (Davey, 2006). Against the
common misconception, the Romantic Movement was not considered to be strongly influenced by
love. Instead the historically been associated with narratives of adventure, romance, and myth as
opposed to realistic stories or portrayals of history, politics, or everyday life (Romanticism, 2014).
The Beginning Historians associate the Romantic Movement as coming out of Europe as [it was a]
reaction to Napoleonic era conservatism and the political norms and the rationalization of nature
associated with Enlightenment (Romanticism, 2014). The focus on romantic literature commenced

Humor in French Literature at the Turn of the 20th Century
Behind humor in the French literature at the turn of the 20th century The French literature is one of
the most interesting compilations of cultural expression on the European continent. Unlike other
types of literature, the French one enables the reader to experience not only a literary expression of
feelings and emotions but, at the same time, it creates a sense of introduction in the world of the
authors and in the environment in which these authors create. The French literature, with sufficient
examples to provide, has to a certain extent, increased the reading experience through a different
sense of intimacy that exists between the writer and its audience, regardless of the writer s appetite
for traditional literature of application of standard techniques. There are numerous examples to
provide in this sense. However, from the 20th century literature there are several that stand out
through the way in which stories are told and the use of language and character construction. These
include Ubu the Kind by Alfred Jarry (1896), My Father s Glory by Marcel Pagnol, (1957), and
The other woman by Colette (1924). They are all different in the sense that they tend to deal with
aspects that of particular interest for the time in which they were written, but, to a certain extend,
they share in common the deep consideration for the human soul and, through different means of
expression, provide different perspectives of the human soul. All these three examples have in

Individual Work Versus Team Work
INDIVIDUAL WORK VERSUS TEAM WORK
Virtually every working person I ve ever come across believes in teamwork. At least they say they
do. Sadly, a scarce few of them make teamwork a reality in their organizations; in fact, they often
end up creating environments where political infighting and departmental serenity are the norm.
And yet they continue to flaunt their belief in teamwork, as if that alone will somehow make it
magically appear. I think that only a small minority of companies truly understand and embrace
teamwork, even though, more than one in three of the Fortune 500 publicly declares it to be a core
value.
I would like to start by asking a question What is a TEAM?

The Threat Of The Atomic Bombs
Devastation Justified: How the U.S. was Right in Dropping the Atomic Bombs In 1945,
President Truman had to make one of the toughest decisions a president has ever been faced
with. This decision, of course, being whether to drop the atomic bombs on Japanese cities, not
drop the bombs at all, or do a demonstration by dropping a bomb in the ocean near Tokyo. Truman
eventually chose to drop the atomic bombs on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945.
This choice to drop the atomic bombs was right because these bombings assisted in slowing the
expansion of the Soviet Union, changed the Japanese never give up mentality, and prevented the
loss of many American and Japanese lives. For a start, the use of the atomic bombs helped slow the

On top of curtailing the expansion of the Soviet Union, dropping the atomic bombs induced the
Japanese to give up their never surrender mentality. To begin with, in the battles of the Pacific
War, the Japanese would always continue to fight as long as any soldiers were still alive. Also,
wounded Japanese soldiers often attempted to use grenades to kill any enemy soldiers and
medics who came near them, and they frequently used grenades to commit suicide rather than
going through the disgrace of being taken alive. These accounts of the lack of quit of the
Japanese soldiers displayed how they had no intention of surrendering to enemy forces no matter
how bad the situation was. Additionally, in April of 1945, Japan s government initiated a policy
known as Ketsugo, which trained all Japanese civilians, regardless of age or gender, on how to
make their own weapons to help fight against invading soldiers. Japan s Ketsugo policy was
meaningful since it illustrated the nation s willingness to fight and die as a nation before giving in.
In contrast, following the bombing of Nagasaki, Hirohito, Japan s Emperor, impressed upon his
country s Cabinet and Supreme Council the need for their agreement to the Potsdam Proclamation.

This paper describes the headline findings from Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW)
on the extent of, and trends in, domestic abuse among the black women in the United Kingdom
aged 18 to 45, who are the resident in households of England and Wales. Domestic abuse includes
a number of various forms of physical as well as non physical abuse consisting of partner and
family abuse, sexual assault and stalking. The abuse can be either of the victim offender
relationship or of the abuse in itself. In the year ending March 2011 CSEW, a split sample

of interest and (3) were peer reviewed. No restrictions were made on the setting, time or the
language of the studies.
Search Strategy
The population of interest was Black married women in the UK seeking or having undergone a
TOP in any places, the exposure was the absence or presence of IPV, the control group where a
separate cohort of comparable individuals was reported (e.g., pregnant women who are not
reporting IPV, pregnant women who are not seeking TOP or women who are attending a
gynecology clinic), the statistic of interest was the relationship between TOP and IPV. The search
strategy was formulated using a combination of free text terms with synonyms and Medical Subject

N.W.A (an abbreviation of Niggaz Wit Attitudes)[1][2][3] was an American hip hop group from
Compton, California, widely considered one of the seminal acts of the gangsta rap and west coast

Active from 1986 to 1991, the rap group endured controversy due to the explicit lyrics that many
considered to be disrespectful to women, and glorifying drugs and crime. The group was

Use Of Literary Devices Throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Use of Literary Devices throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Ray Bradbury s personal life encounters and his use of universal literary devices throughout The
Veldt accentuate his frequent themes involving fear and harmful innovation. Bradbury s life
experiences, such as living during World War II, also played a major roll in his fearful theme
decisions and sadistic writing style. Bradbury incorporates multiple literary techniques into The
Veldt including: metaphors, foreshadowing, irony, imagery, personification, a simplistic writing
style, allusions, and symbolism. In The Veldt , he commonly uses metaphors, comparing how one
item is like another, to foreshadow or create an eerie tone. Bradbury also leaves out details of
ranging importance to make his writing more personable; this allows the readers to feel involved in
the story. Bradbury directs a majority of his attention on getting his point across using a simplistic
writing style rather than bewildering his readers with complex vocabulary and a perplexing
structure. The Veldt alludes to multiple positively correlated topics; this is a contrast to the dark
themes of the story and slightly adds an additional realistic sentiment to the story. This reaction
subconsciously causes readers to become more attentive to the disturbing atmosphere the writing is
centered around. His use of symbolism contributes to the tone of sinister tendencies in the The
Veldt . Additionally, his use of personification and imagery

The Psychological Cost Of Children During The American...
Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is a former army Ranger, paratrooper, and west point psychology
professor. Grossman is a world renown expert in the field of human aggression and the
psychology of combat (Grossman et. al, 2007). In his book, On Killing: The Psychological Cost
of Learning to Kill in War and Society, he talks about non firing rate. Non firing rate is the
percentage of soldiers who freeze up during combat, and do not fire their weapon. There has been
documentation of non firing rate dating back to 1863, during the American Civil War. There is
even documentation to prove that both World War I and II soldiers displayed the same consistence
in failing to fire their weapons; but why is this important? The weapons had the proficiency to kill,
but the soldierholding the weapon did not. All the documentation of soldier s inability to fire their
weapon indicates that there is a psychological power greater than militarytraining (Gorssman et.
al., 1995). This force acts as a blockade, preventing man from standing before man, and engaging
in the conscious act of taking the life of a person. Even when faced with the decision to kill the
man standing before him, or be killed, evidence shows that man will be killed before he kills
(Grossman et. al., 1995). Thus, providing the evidence needed to indicate humans are not born with
the capability to kill. Engaging in combat has taken a tole on the mental well being of the military

members with the least harm. Using loudspeakers, officers told the Branch Davidians no armed
assault would be made and to hold their fire. When cult members opened their weapons, the FBI
increased the tear gas assault and began firing military grenade launches at the building. At
around noon, three fires broke out in different parts of the compound, allegedly set by the
Branch Davidians. The fire spread, trapping cult members, while others refused to leave,
eventually perishing in the smoke and the blaze (Final 24). In all, only nine people escaped. The
remaining 76 cult members, including 17 children, were buried alive by rubble, suffocated by the
effects of the fire, or shot/stabbed. Although many people followed this 51 day siege, if someone
was to look at the news and see this giant compound on fire with children burning they might
wonder, how did this happen? Why was it being aired live? Who shot first? Can you believe this
whole incident happened just to serve a search warrant?
Many of those questions still linger around this horrific incident in Waco, TX, my hometown. I was
only a baby when this happened, but my dad is a great primary source for this incident. My dad,
Van Cammack, used to give flying lessons out of a small grass strip

Chinese Philosophy From The Spring And Autumn And Warring...
Chinese philosophy originates in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States eras. This was during
the period known as Hundred Schools of Thought. Regional rulers of the Spring and Autumn period
enhanced their ability to obtain natural resources, to recruit men for their armies, and to oversee
conquered areas. (pg. 165) Researchers started to help the rulers and because of that, the rulers
began perceiving the researchers comprehension of punishment, ritual, astronomy, medicine, and
divination. There were a few distinct methods of insight that emerged in Ancient China amid this
time period. Be that as it may, there were three noteworthy methods of insight that were absolutely
critical: legalism, taoism and confucianism. Confuciuswas a researcher who served in government
positions. He realized that the legislature was doing as well as could be expected, on the other
hand, he likewise realized that war was among them. Consequently, Confucius was resolved to
locate an illuminated ruler. He had confidence in family and that family was the establishment of
a moral society. Confucius set up any of the real rules for Chinese thought and activity: regard for
the declarations of researchers, duty to expansive instruction, and preparing for all who were
exceedingly astute and willing to work. (pg. 164) Due to Confucius being solid willed, he put
forward new ethics focusing on ceremonies, obligation and dedication to family and the ideal of
good character. Confucianism was

Endometriosis: A Disease That Could Stop A Dream For A Family
Natalia Migliaccio
Many people have experienced a disease or disorder sometime in their lifetime. Chronic diseases
and disorders can range from a variety of factors. A specific chronic disease that millions of women
encounter worldwide is endometriosis. The exact cause of endometriosis is unclear but often
encountered in women through genetics and environmental factors. Furthermore, the significance
of endometriosis is commonly associated with and thought to be the cause of pelvic pain and
infertility (Giudice and Kao 1789). Endometriosis is a disorder where the endometrial tissue, which

nonsurgical. Due to these samples and cases the disease is being more readily recognized. The
estimation for prevalence and incidence within a year varied tremendously. This rate is
anywhere from 1 to 50% in reproductive aged women (Child and Lin Tan 1736). According to
Missmer et al, a study was created over a 10 year time period (1989 99) to explore the
relationship of endometriosis relative within certain demographics and lifestyle factors. Trends
for specific age data provided that the incident rates were lowest in women aged 45 52 and a
greatest in women aged 25 29 (791). Lastly, race and ethnicity trends in confirmed endometriosis
showed incidence rate for Caucasian women were 20 40% higher than other races and ethnicities.
African American women were at lowest risk for developing endometriosis, while Asian women
were at highest risk (Missmer et al. 791). Any disease or disorder affects a part or several parts of
the human body. Endometriosis primarily affects pelvic organs in the reproductive system. The
endometrial tissue most commonly attaches to the membrane lining the pelvis, ovaries, ovarian
ligaments, fallopian tubes and the thin space between the vagina and the rectum known as the
rectovaginal septum. The tissue can also move and surround areas within the intestinal wall and
abdominal wall including the diaphragm, but is very rare and not likely to happen (Linda 2389). The

How Race And Stereotype Can Affect Justice Being Served
. This play takes place in 1963, the year in which the Civil Rights movement was being fought
for. The main topic of this play is to understand how race and stereotype can affect justice being
served, and the only way around this would be to view facts and override race and stereotype with
evidence.
The play beings in New York City in a juryroom, there are 12 jurors and each of them seem very
flustered, not only because its hot and the fan won t work, but because the trial seems to almost
be a waste of time for these twelve people. We learn the case they are dealing with is between a
son and his father; the son supposedly stabbed and killed his father. The father and the son live
near the slums which is where colored people live. Almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although this juror is puzzled at first he ends up growing confident in his vote and finds many
facts to back him up. In one incident he asks juror number two and juror number four who have
glasses if they sleep with their glasses on. They giggle and reply with no they do not sleep with
their glasses on. Well he uses this because the lady who witnessed the murder wore glasses, and
in order for her to have clearly been able to see the murder she would have to have her glasses on
while she was in bed; since that is when she witnessed the murder. Little by little the other jurors
change their vote from guilty to not guilty. And in the end justice is served and the boy is found
not guilty. Juror number eight played by Cameron Needham is key to this story because he is
the one who is the only one with a vote not guilty at first, and without him the boy would be
found guilty. Juror number eight is very hesitant at first when raising his hand to vote not guilty
he raises it fairly slow as if scared of what the others might think. As the play continues he is
constantly on his feet and has his hands in his pockets most of the time. This gesture of his hands
in his pockets seems as if he is trying to protect himself from the other jurors. Also, juror number
eight being on his feet seems to show that he is nervous because he is never in the same place for
a long period of time. When the other jurors ask him questions or state facts, he looks into their

My Art Museum Experience
1.Have you ever attended a major art museum like the DIA before? Yes I have attended DIA back
in 7 or 8 grade with Port Huron School District.
2.How long did you explore the DIA? My Husband and I were in there from 10:30am to around
2pm that day.
3.What time period, movement or artist captivated your interest? My husband and I really like
the artwork from 1800 s for the most part. At lot of painting we like were of landscapes or of
animals. My grandmother used to paint for a living. Nothing famous, but all of her paintings are of
landscapes. Share with others AT LEAST ONE thing that you learned during your visit related to
the museum experience and the art that you observed. I looked up more about Chevy by Edwin
Henry Landseer; he painted animal; particularly horses, dogs and stags. Learned that Queen
Victoria commissioned several pictures from the Edwin and enjoyed his paintings. She even had
him painted her family pets. Even in the 1800 s people want portraits of her loyal pets. I have so
many people asking me for professionals pictures of their family pets, but even in the 1800 those
who could afford it want pictures of them in paintings as well. I learn there s so many forms of
artwork and really if you look anywhere there s all different forms of artwork.

Validity of the Lumped Method
It order to implement the lumped approximation of the system model it is required to check Biot

Aggregate Planning
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT
Topic: Aggregate Planning
Submitted by: ANJANA KRISHNAN FM 673
AGGREGATE PLANNING:
Aggregate planning is the process of developing, analyzing, and maintaining a preliminary,
approximate schedule of the overall operations of an organization. The aggregate plan generally
contains targeted sales forecasts, production levels, inventory levels, and customer backlogs. This
schedule is intended to satisfy the demand forecast at a minimum cost. Properly done, ... Show more

This could result in a considerable amount of hiring, firing or laying off of employees; insecure and
unhappy employees; increased inventory carrying costs; problems with labour unions; and erratic
utilization of plant and equipment. It also implies a great deal of flexibility on the firm s part.
The major advantage of a chase strategy is that it allows inventory to be held to the lowest level
possible, and for some firms this is a considerable savings. Most firms embracing the just in time
production concept utilize a chase strategy approach to aggregate planning.
Most firms find it advantageous to utilize a combination of the level and chase strategy. A
combination strategy (sometimes called a hybrid or mixed strategy) can be found to better meet
organizational goals and policies and achieve lower costs than either of the pure strategies used
independently.
TECHNIQUES FOR AGGREGATE PLANNING
Techniques for aggregate planning range from informal trial and error approaches, which usually
utilize simple tables or graphs, to more formalized and advanced mathematical techniques. William
Stevenson s textbook Production/Operations Management contains an informal but useful trial and
error process for aggregate planning presented in outline form. This general procedure consists of
the following steps: 1. Determine demand for each period. 2. Determine capacity for each period.
This capacity should match demand, which

The Importance Of The Human Genome Project
Building off of the work conducted by the Human Genome Project to sequence the entire human
genome, the ENCODE Project seeks to delineate the function of the elements identified within the
project. Through the collaboration of many different institutions, scientists, and laboratories, the
ENCODE Project has been able to identify and assign functions to numerous, including previously
unstudied, elements within the genome and further genome wide understanding beyond just that of
protein coding sequences. Utilizing different biological assays, scientists systematically mapped
areas of transcription, chromatin structure, histone modification, and transcription factor
association (ENCODE Project Consortium 2012). ENCODE focused on... Show more content on

However, it also illuminated the gaps in understanding that still exist, such as organizational and
mechanistic features. The large amount of data covering numerous cell types from the ENCODE
Project creates a resource to be used in the studies of genetic disorders and illnesses and provide
testable hypotheses for experimental analysis. ENCODE focused on a limited number of cell types
and factors. Future studies could further understanding of the genome and potentially fill in the
gaps by expanding the number of cell types and factors examined (ENCODE Project Consortium
2012).
Discussion
The ENCODE Project seeks to determine the functionality of the elements of the human genome.
ENCODE has their own definition of functionality, which includes any discrete genome segment
that encodes a defined product or displays a reproducible biochemical signature. With the rapidly
degrading definition of the gene in recent years due to insights from projects like ENCODE and
the discovery of pervasive genomic transcription, the ENCODE definition of functionality could be
the key to determining the new definition of a gene. Historically, a gene indicated a piece of DNA
which ultimately had a protein product,

  • 2. Cleisthenes As An Opportunist Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up the rule of Cleisthenesas he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he was given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will argue that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very principled in nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family. To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason most historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from Herodotus histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Crucible Chapter 2 Dialectical Journal Why does the mailbox have to be so far? Zuri thinks to herself as she turns the corner of North Broadview Avenue and Red Wood Road. As she rounds the corner she looks up only in time to see a white Lincoln town car barreling towards her and barely manages to jump backwards as it screeches to a stop right where she had been standing a few second ago. A tall, young black man hops out of the car and walks over to Zuri asking Are you all right? as he reaches out his hand to help her up. Yeah I think so. She replies as she gets up and dust herself off and looks around for her keys. What you looking for? the young man asks. • 4. Damnation of a Canyon The Damnation of a Canyon By Edward Abbey Not many people know of the used to be 150 mile excursion that the Glen Canyon had to offer. Not many people know how to sail a raft down a river for a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that come with it. We seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money. Edward Abbey is what you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an environmental disaster to place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the border of Utah and Arizona. He is one of the few that have actually seen the way Glen Canyon was before they changed it into a reservoir. Today, that lake is used by over a million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He seems to argue the В‘wheelchair ethos of the wealthy, upper middle class American slob . Well, excuse the people who were born paralyzed from the waist down, and would like to experience the forces nature in its natural state of beauty and grace. He seems to generalize the typical population of people who visit Lake Powell on an unscientific basis, upper middle class American slobs. So does that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such recreational activity? And that we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own environment? One last point in which should be heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days, and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down a river. In today s society people don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get a nice speedboat, buy real food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We enjoy the freshness of a shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food with the right bit of garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. Even if they did take down the dam and offer such rafting trips, do you honestly think a person could leave their cell phone at home? In conclusion, I do think that Edward Abbey made a great ... • 5. Global Flow of Silver Dbq Essays The global flow of silver managed to redefine the social structure in many societies, as well as dramatically altered the basis of the economy in many European and Asian countries. Despite the economic change that came from the mass production of silver and its use as a standard currency, the growth of the silverindustry brought as much change socially and culturally as it brought economic transformation. Many people viewed the conversion to silver being the standardized currency as a huge hindrance to their daily lives, but the silver industry brought wealthto many societies and became a necessity in trade. On one side of things, the flow of silver throughout the world brought a wave of economic change, as mentioned in documents3,5,6,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Documents 3,5,6, 7 and 8 all mention how the economy changed dramatically due to the arrival and growth of silver as a currency. In document 3, a Ming dynasty court official writes about how the silver coin is hard to come by because the government is hoarding all of it. They take silver for taxes but do not redistribute it to the people. He is writing this because he is trying to convince the emperor to distribute the silver more appropriately to the people, and because his family is obviously not doing well financially. He is a court official who most likely has small influence in the government and writes in hopes of getting the emperor to consider spreading the wealth to the lower classes of China, to save his family, and other families like his. Document 5 expresses a different, but somewhat related view about how silver has become a hindrance to regular business interactions, because customers can no longer trade items of their own to purchase goods, they have to go through a lengthy process to pay everything in silver. Document 6 shows a counter point of view about the wealth that the mining of silver has brought to Spain. Document 7 is a report written to convince the emperor of China that there is much wealth to be found in foreign trade, because of how much silver some countries will pay for Chinese goods. Finally, document 8 examines how European countries are able to purchase Asian commodities freely because of their immense supply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Destruction of the Bison Essay example Andrew Isenberg said that the destruction of the bison was not merely the result of human agency but the consequence of the interaction of human society with a dynamic environment. Humans and nature both played a large role in the ultimate demise of the bison. Bison have been around for 10,000 years. Their ancestors where known as giant bison and they were hunted by the paleoindians that came over on the Bering Strait. The giant bison however became extinct because the paleoindians hunted them and at the end of the last ice age, most of the vegetation they fed off of was destroyed. Dwarf bison, the bison that are around today, survived the ice age because the dwarf bison were faster, reproduced more rapidly and required less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horses worked their way across the plains during the 1700 1750 s which made most tribes into equestrian nomads rather than semi sedentary nomads. The increase of intertribal trade was a new form of ecological safety net: the Indians depended on trade rather than their own labor to ensure diversity of resources (Isenberg 47) because they only hunted for bison now. The nomads started trading with the euroamericans; they could trade bison skins for alcohol, small tools, knifes needles, guns and horses. This became known as the fur trade, which made the nomads specialize in hunting. These were all things that made the nomads lives easier; they would hunt more bison so they could trade for the goods. Trading goods made the nomads lives easier but it also exposed them to European diseases, such as small pox, which wiped out large numbers of their tribes. They had to rely on bison to sustain themselves, in a time when they didn t have enough people left to maintain a village properly. This was when the bison s population took one of its initial declines because they were now being commercially exploited. Bison fed on grasses in the Great Plains, grasses were at their peak in the summer time when they grew the most. The taller the grass the more carbohydrates they possessed, so that is when bison gathered in large groups to eat the grasses and mate. Autumn was also the most dry period of the ... • 8. Cause And Effect Of Tsunami How is a tsunami caused? There are different ways of how a tsunami is caused. A tsunami is a series of waves created by an abrupt movement on the ocean floor that can result from an earthquake, meteorite or a volcanic eruption. However, powerful undersea earthquakes are responsible for most tsunamis. For example, on the 11th of March 2011 a devastating tsunami occurred on the east coast of Japan, which was caused by an earthquake at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The magnitude of the earthquake which caused the Japanese tsunami was recorded as 9.1 on the richer scale. This was very similar to the tsunami that occurred on the 26th of December in the Indian Ocean, which had a huge impact on many countries such as India, Thailand and Indonesia. The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred in the Indian Ocean was also 9.1 on the richer scale. Where the disasters most commonly occur Tsunamis can occur anywhere in the world where land meets the ocean. Two of the most recent large scale tsunamis in modern history was in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean which mainly effected India and Japan respectively. Tsunamis potentially threaten every coastal area and river system in the world. However, they are most likely to occur on shores directly facing a large body of water where an undersea earthquake may occur. Scientists estimate that almost three quarters of the worlds tsunamis occur in the Pacific Ocean as this is the largest ocean in the entire world. Japanese and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although Lady Eboshi actions may come off as negative, I do believe throughout the movie she also has many positive characteristics. Lady Eboshi has two very different sides to her. On one hand she cares deeply about the people within her town and has made work for everyone who has been rejected by society and on the other hand cares very much so about her power and what she can do to get more. Although Lady Eboshi cares for everyone in her gated community she cares more about the woman than the men. In the final sprint of the marathon 2000 presidential campaign, Democratic nominee Al Gore and Republican nominee George W. Bush are neck and neck. Particularly in a contest close as this one, the Electoral College warps national politics and could lead to a major constitutional crisis. So, with a race this tight, it is entirely conceivable that one candidate may win the popular vote and still lose the election. This would mark the first time since 1888 that the president elect lost the popular vote. Since it has happened three times before in American history, in 1824, 1876 and 1888, it could certainly happen again. In 1824, John Quincy Adams received fewer electoral votes and fewer popular votes than his opponent Andrew Jackson but won the election when the House of Representatives favored him by six state votes. Then again, in 1876, Rutherford B. Hayes beat Samuel J. Tilden with just one electoral vote in spite of having lost the popular vote. The importance of being able to set goals and to try to achieve them is that each individual student can assess where they are and set goals to improve. Not all students can achieve the same fitness standards. Some students are born with more muscle mass or more fast twitch muscle fibers than other students. Some students have asthma or other physical difficulties that make it difficult to measure up with other students when all students are required to get a certain score on a fitness test to get an A. Using goal setting where all students can be successful by reaching their goals and showing improvement could be a positive influence for future motivation. While problem based learning can help students to learn and use goal setting (Hubball 2006), goal setting may not always help students to achieve greater fitness levels. Hill (2015) found that those students who set goals over an 18 week period did not have any significant improvement over those students that did not set goals on the pacer and push up tests. Similarly, in another study looking at the effects of goal setting on Native elders found only a weak correlation between goal setting and improvement on the amount of steps taken in a day using a pedometer (Sawchuck 2011). It is defined differently based on geographical location, however it overall incorporates the same common principles: (1) imagination, (2) individuality, (3) nature as a source of spirituality, (4) looking to the past for wisdom, and (5) seeing the common man as a hero. These common principles are what inspired writers and artists of the time to fabricate ideas. This is how the period got named romanticism for the term romantic, [was] long synonymous with false, fictitious and unnatural (Courthion, 1961, p. 7). Defining the movement is what overtime pulled the art community away from the previous baroque era. By the late 1700s romance thus had come to refer broadly to any work that could be distinguished from works principally realistic in form and subject matter (Davey, 2006). Unlike other types of literature, the French one enables the reader to experience not only a literary expression of feelings and emotions but, at the same time, it creates a sense of introduction in the world of the authors and in the environment in which these authors create. The French literature, with sufficient examples to provide, has to a certain extent, increased the reading experience through a different sense of intimacy that exists between the writer and its audience, regardless of the writer s appetite for traditional literature of application of standard techniques. There are numerous examples to provide in this sense. They are all different in the sense that they tend to deal with aspects that of particular interest for the time in which they were written, but, to a certain extend, they share in common the deep consideration for the human soul and, through different means of expression, provide different perspectives of the human soul. • 35. Essay on THE NWA N.W.A (an abbreviation of Niggaz Wit Attitudes)[1][2][3] was an American hip hop group from Compton, California, widely considered one of the seminal acts of the gangsta rap and west coast hip hop sub genres, sometimes credited as the most important group in the history of rap music.[4] Active from 1986 to 1991, the rap group endured controversy due to the explicit lyrics that many considered to be disrespectful to women, and glorifying drugs and crime. The group was subsequently banned from many mainstream American radio stations. In spite of this, the group has sold over 10 million units in the United States alone. • 36. Use Of Literary Devices Throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt Use of Literary Devices throughout Ray Bradbury s The Veldt Ray Bradbury s personal life encounters and his use of universal literary devices throughout The Veldt accentuate his frequent themes involving fear and harmful innovation. Bradbury s life experiences, such as living during World War II, also played a major roll in his fearful theme decisions and sadistic writing style. Bradbury incorporates multiple literary techniques into The Veldt including: metaphors, foreshadowing, irony, imagery, personification, a simplistic writing style, allusions, and symbolism. In The Veldt , he commonly uses metaphors, comparing how one item is like another, to foreshadow or create an eerie tone. Bradbury also leaves out details of ranging importance to make his writing more personable; this allows the readers to feel involved in the story. Bradbury directs a majority of his attention on getting his point across using a simplistic writing style rather than bewildering his readers with complex vocabulary and a perplexing structure. The Veldt alludes to multiple positively correlated topics; this is a contrast to the dark themes of the story and slightly adds an additional realistic sentiment to the story. This reaction subconsciously causes readers to become more attentive to the disturbing atmosphere the writing is centered around. His use of symbolism contributes to the tone of sinister tendencies in the The Veldt . Additionally, his use of personification and imagery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Psychological Cost Of Children During The American... Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is a former army Ranger, paratrooper, and west point psychology professor. Grossman is a world renown expert in the field of human aggression and the psychology of combat (Grossman et. al, 2007). In his book, On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society, he talks about non firing rate. Non firing rate is the percentage of soldiers who freeze up during combat, and do not fire their weapon. There has been documentation of non firing rate dating back to 1863, during the American Civil War. There is even documentation to prove that both World War I and II soldiers displayed the same consistence in failing to fire their weapons; but why is this important? The weapons had the proficiency to kill, but the soldierholding the weapon did not. All the documentation of soldier s inability to fire their weapon indicates that there is a psychological power greater than militarytraining (Gorssman et. al., 1995). This force acts as a blockade, preventing man from standing before man, and engaging in the conscious act of taking the life of a person. Even when faced with the decision to kill the man standing before him, or be killed, evidence shows that man will be killed before he kills (Grossman et. al., 1995). Thus, providing the evidence needed to indicate humans are not born with the capability to kill. Engaging in combat has taken a tole on the mental well being of the military service members. The Branch Davidian Compound Raid The Branch Davidian Compound Raid: Waco, TX 1993 On the morning of April 19, 1993, heavily armed FBI and ATF agents moved into the compound puncturing holes in the compound walls so they could pump in tear gas, to flush out the cult members with the least harm. Using loudspeakers, officers told the Branch Davidians no armed assault would be made and to hold their fire. When cult members opened their weapons, the FBI increased the tear gas assault and began firing military grenade launches at the building. At around noon, three fires broke out in different parts of the compound, allegedly set by the Branch Davidians. The fire spread, trapping cult members, while others refused to leave, eventually perishing in the smoke and the blaze (Final 24). In all, only nine people escaped. The remaining 76 cult members, including 17 children, were buried alive by rubble, suffocated by the effects of the fire, or shot/stabbed. Although many people followed this 51 day siege, if someone was to look at the news and see this giant compound on fire with children burning they might wonder, how did this happen? This was during the period known as Hundred Schools of Thought. Regional rulers of the Spring and Autumn period enhanced their ability to obtain natural resources, to recruit men for their armies, and to oversee conquered areas. (pg. 165) Researchers started to help the rulers and because of that, the rulers began perceiving the researchers comprehension of punishment, ritual, astronomy, medicine, and divination. There were a few distinct methods of insight that emerged in Ancient China amid this time period. Be that as it may, there were three noteworthy methods of insight that were absolutely critical: legalism, taoism and confucianism. Confuciuswas a researcher who served in government positions. He realized that the legislature was doing as well as could be expected, on the other hand, he likewise realized that war was among them. Consequently, Confucius was resolved to locate an illuminated ruler. He had confidence in family and that family was the establishment of a moral society. Confucius set up any of the real rules for Chinese thought and activity: regard for the declarations of researchers, duty to expansive instruction, and preparing for all who were exceedingly astute and willing to work. (pg. 164) Due to Confucius being solid willed, he put forward new ethics focusing on ceremonies, obligation and dedication to family and the ideal of good character. Confucianism was ... According to Missmer et al, a study was created over a 10 year time period (1989 99) to explore the relationship of endometriosis relative within certain demographics and lifestyle factors. Trends for specific age data provided that the incident rates were lowest in women aged 45 52 and a greatest in women aged 25 29 (791). Lastly, race and ethnicity trends in confirmed endometriosis showed incidence rate for Caucasian women were 20 40% higher than other races and ethnicities. African American women were at lowest risk for developing endometriosis, while Asian women were at highest risk (Missmer et al. 791). Any disease or disorder affects a part or several parts of the human body. Endometriosis primarily affects pelvic organs in the reproductive system. The endometrial tissue most commonly attaches to the membrane lining the pelvis, ovaries, ovarian ligaments, fallopian tubes and the thin space between the vagina and the rectum known as the rectovaginal septum. The main topic of this play is to understand how race and stereotype can affect justice being served, and the only way around this would be to view facts and override race and stereotype with evidence. The play beings in New York City in a juryroom, there are 12 jurors and each of them seem very flustered, not only because its hot and the fan won t work, but because the trial seems to almost be a waste of time for these twelve people. In one incident he asks juror number two and juror number four who have glasses if they sleep with their glasses on. They giggle and reply with no they do not sleep with their glasses on. Well he uses this because the lady who witnessed the murder wore glasses, and in order for her to have clearly been able to see the murder she would have to have her glasses on while she was in bed; since that is when she witnessed the murder. Little by little the other jurors change their vote from guilty to not guilty. And in the end justice is served and the boy is found not guilty. Juror number eight played by Cameron Needham is key to this story because he is the one who is the only one with a vote not guilty at first, and without him the boy would be found guilty. Juror number eight is very hesitant at first when raising his hand to vote not guilty he raises it fairly slow as if scared of what the others might think. As the play continues he is constantly on his feet and has his hands in his pockets most of the time. This gesture of his hands in his pockets seems as if he is trying to protect himself from the other jurors. This could result in a considerable amount of hiring, firing or laying off of employees; insecure and unhappy employees; increased inventory carrying costs; problems with labour unions; and erratic utilization of plant and equipment. It also implies a great deal of flexibility on the firm s part. The major advantage of a chase strategy is that it allows inventory to be held to the lowest level possible, and for some firms this is a considerable savings. Most firms embracing the just in time production concept utilize a chase strategy approach to aggregate planning. Most firms find it advantageous to utilize a combination of the level and chase strategy. A combination strategy (sometimes called a hybrid or mixed strategy) can be found to better meet organizational goals and policies and achieve lower costs than either of the pure strategies used independently. TECHNIQUES FOR AGGREGATE PLANNING Techniques for aggregate planning range from informal trial and error approaches, which usually utilize simple tables or graphs, to more formalized and advanced mathematical techniques. William Stevenson s textbook Production/Operations Management contains an informal but useful trial and error process for aggregate planning presented in outline form.
