The Politics And Last National Security Essay
Arms Trade, Weapons Sales, Armament Sales are just few terms used for the manufacture and sale or
trade of devices to protect a country, attack another and quite possibly benefit economically, or
politically on a global scale. Countries, entities, factions, make, sell, and give things of destruction to
others. This is a reality. The intent of this paper is to provide information that individuals can use to
determine the necessity. The economics, the politics and last the National Security are the three main
discussion points.
History
History of Arms Trade, Weapons Trade or the trade any of items necessary to protect, feed or conquer
dates back to the dawn of time. Scholars note that arms trade or weapons trade could be traced back
300,000 years (Thieme). As humans evolved and interacted with each other, scholars speculate that
the trade of many things occurred. The trade would include stories, knowledge, which can be
considered intangibles, then the tangibles, seeds for food, things to make tools, how to make a shelter,
weapons for protection and survival. Basically trade included instruction and things needed for every
aspect of life; to survive. Agers 2
Elements of Thought
Think about it this way. You have a clan or tribe with really good sharp rocks and a clan or tribe with
really good wood staffs. You put both together you have a more lethal device, for protection and
providing food. An item that was designed to help a human to survive evolved

German Art Observation Paper
I visited Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the exhibition named Form in Fragments:
Abstraction in German Art, 1906 1925 which highlighted in abstraction in German Expressionism.
The exhibition was composed of over 60 works including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc,
Lyonel Feininger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Erich Heckel, Otto Dix, and an abstract film by
Hans Richter. Among the many works on view, one of the Paul Klee s prints titled Hoffmannesque
Scene caught my eye.
Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was
created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that was
inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including human and
animal with shaded blocks. The depiction of the scene resembles cave and ... Show more content on

The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These
undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same
time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no
particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention. However,
Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination of the colors but
also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends harmoniously into one another so
that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even though those colors used are analogous.
Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody, especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the
background of the print presents a sense of color, the artist detached color from physical description
and the objects are drawn childlike. Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that
depicts an image of his or her

Macrophages Difference Between White Blood Cells And Microbes
The human immune system is a complex network of cells and organs that evolved to fight off
infectious microbes. Much of the immune system s work is carried out by an army of various
specialized cells, each type designed to fight disease in a particular way. The invading microbes first
run into the vanguard of this army, which includes white blood cells called macrophages (literally, big
eaters ). The macrophages engulf as many of the microbes as they can. ANTIGENS SOUND THE
ALARM How do the macrophages recognize the microbes? All cells and microbes wear a uniform
made up of molecules that cover their surfaces. Each human cell displays unique marker molecules
unique to you. Microbes display different marker molecules unique to them. The macrophages

A History of the AT T Stadium
The Dallas Cowboys, America s football team, one of the most well known professional football
franchises in the sport s history. The Cowboys own five super bowl titles, which were won in 71, 77,
92, 93 and 95. They are also home to 19 renowned individuals who have been inducted into the NFL
Hall of Fame including standout football stars Tony Dorsett, Emmit Smith, and Troy Aikman.
Established in 1960, the Cowboys have been a dominating force on the field and still continue to
produce to this day. Forbes wrote, The Cowboys franchise value reaches over 1.85 billion and are

To aid Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, whom is stated in Forbes Magazine as being
worth 3.1 billion dollars himself, (Page 1), in paying the construction costs of the new stadium,
Arlington voters approved the increase of the city s sales tax by 0.5 percent, the hotel occupancy tax
by 2 percent, and car rental tax by 5 percent. The City of Arlington provided over $325 million
(including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided
the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, following its policy for facilitating financing for
the construction of new stadiums, (Page 1). Strengths and Weaknesses A key strength that the
Cowboys franchise holds is the obvious tradition of winning and success on the football field. As
mentioned before, the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl titles and that gives the team a legendary aura
every time they step out on the field. This allows their fan base to be very large, consistent and proud
to be part of the franchise. Along with that strength though, comes a weakness. The history of the
Cowboys is a history of excellence and winning which is hard to hold and be consistent with in the
NFL. Winning three Super Bowl titles in four years is a hard mark to reach but ever since that
accomplishment the Cowboys have been nowhere near replicating that achievement. The fan base was
created through the great seasons of football that the Cowboys have

Water and Fire Compare and Contrast
Water and Fire Water and fire, two very different elements. But, What really makes these two elements
different? Fire burns. It is used to hurt and to kill, but it can also be used for heat and for light. Water
soothes. It is used to revive people who are sick and to help to cool off in a hot summer day, but it can
it be used for torture and to drown living things. In spite of all of their differences they do have three
things in common Oxygen, they both kill, and they are both necessary for survival. Fire, it was
discovered by the ancient caveman and has been used for many things including heat. The cavemen

Mark Twain has once said, everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.
However, this statement made by Twain does not work with Christopher Nolan. While other directors
try their best to hide their dark side, Nolan uses his dark side as a technique. The dark side has become
Nolan s major key to success; he is known for many dark movies, Batman Begins, Batman: The Dark
Knight, Inception, and many more. Many might wonder, the majority of Nolan s movies are about
superheroes. How can superheroes be considered dark? In these superhero movies (The Batman

Mya Renaissance Video Analysis
Something I found particularly interesting in the Mya Renaissance video was the architecture that the
Mayans created. The structures that they built were beautiful. The structures were the largest
structures outside ancient Egypt at the time. It amazes me that they can build structures so vast
without the equipment that we have today. It also is unbelievable that many of these structures are still
standing today because of how well they were built. It was also interesting to me how the cities were
laid out according to the cardinal directions of Mayan belief. The structures were created for specific
events and used as markers for the Mayans. The El Castillo pyramid at Chichen Itza is particularly
interesting because it catches the light

Essay on Finding Meaning in a Stolen Life

Finding Meaning in a Stolen Life
It is said that all life does indeed involve suffering but it is what we make of this suffering that will
determine whether or not we find meaning in our life. One must look within and around himself to
create meaning in her life; one can finding meaning by creating works or doing deeds, experiencing
things or encountering people, and choosing one s attitude towards the suffering in her life. There will
always be obstacles in the way to meaning the tragic triad of pain, guilt, and death but one must use
this to fuel your drive to find meaning by maintaining tragic optimism faith, love, and hope. Many

that was the only thing I could do. I would do it all again. The most precious thing in the world came
out of it... my daughters. (110). Her love for her two daughters fueled her positivity towards her
adverse life. She was a very hopeful person all through her young life and her daughters gave her
more of a reason to hold fast. Jaycee was constantly hoping that she would one day be emancipated.
When she is first placed in the room out back, she hoped someone was looking for her and that they
would find her one day to take her from home. Although she had a rough life from the age of eleven
until the age of twenty nine, she kept a very positive attitude by doing work and keeping busy.
She found greater meaning in her suffering by creating works. She started a business a printing
company with Phillip who has put her through endless torture. Over time she learned how to do it on
her own and does most of the work for the company: I work up a design and he takes it to the

The Causes Of Teen Suicide
Fifteen minutes fifty nine seconds then sixteen minutes hits, and another teen commits suicide due to
something going on in their life. It is crazy that in just sixteen minutes another teen commits suicide.
What would possibly be causing teen to take their life this quick? Could it be drug abuse, depression,
stress, peer pressure, or whatever else you could think of? Teen suicide is the second leading cause of
death of teens in the US. Parents wonder why teens commit suicide, and the worst part is that they will
never know why it happened. The guilt fills them to the brim, and it makes the parents feel like they
could have done something if they knew what the problem was. With the rates of teen suicide rising
the questions are growing on why they took their life, however the main reason that teens commit
suicide are because of peer pressure and emotional neglect. (just a little more hardcore on the
argument)
Teenage suicide is mainly caused through social media, so social media sites to have more intense and
more controlled filters. 4,500 teens commit suicide every month due to cyberbullying (Cyberbullying
Hotline). This is because there is someone out there that is so low that they want to bully someone
else. With social media playing a huge roll today, there is constantly drama or bullying going on.
Social media says that they filter out cyberbullying on their sites, but anyone can go to any social
media platform and look at many bullying posts. Most of teen suicides are committed with firearms
with 60 % (Kids Health). This is because most teens have some sort of access to a firearm making it
the easiest way to commit suicide. All firearms should be locked in a safe and unloaded so that the risk
of a teen suicide will be lessened. Hamm and her colleagues did not find consistent links between
being bullied and self harm across the studies (Stephanie Pappas). However, cyberbullying helps to
lead onto suicide because teens cannot even be in the comfort of the own homes without being bullied.
A stricter filter should be added to social media sites so that the number of teen suicides will drop due
to cyberbullying. Teens have always suffered from cyberbullying and suicide, but with the new filters

Air Force Core Values
In the early 1990 s the Chief of staff, Merrill A. McPeak, originally posted the six core values of the
United States Air Force which consisted of integrity, tenacity, courage, patriotism, competence, and
service. It wasn t until a few years later that those six core values were merged into three. The three
core values; integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do were officially embraced by
the United States Air Force in January of 1995 in order to define the type of character expected from
those within the branch of service (Lt Col Tower, P., Lt Col Dunford, D, n.d.). Today these core values

The Air Force defines integrity as always doing what is right even when no one is looking (United
States Air Force core values, 1997). Integrity itself is built off of many different key traits; honesty,
kindness, generosity, courage, responsibility and having respect not only for others but yourself as
well. Those are just some of the key traits. I will give prime examples of each trait mentioned above
from my own personal life to help you better understand integrity. The first trait I would like to review
with you is honesty. There are many different aspects of honestly. It could be as simple as telling
someone how you really feel or admitting to a mistake you may have made in your life. Several years
back, I was riding my bicycle at a high rate of speed and flew around a sharp corner. I came around
the corner so fast that I crashed my bicycle into a brand new car that just happened to be parked on the
side of the road. As you can imagine, I flew over my handle bars and landed on the car. The accident
left minor damage to vehicle, but no one was around. I could have easily rode off and pretended it
never happened, though that would not have been the honest nor the right thing to do. I spoke with the
owner of the car and made arrangements to pay him back for the damage. Honesty is a key trait you

The Story Of Fun With Dick And Jane
The story of Fun with Dick and Jane is one about a very up and coming business man who loses his
job as a result of his employer s economic difficulty. Consequently, these circumstances leave his
family not only in a financial crisis, but in clear and utter hopelessness. From the grass literally being
pulled out of their front yard to their home foreclosure, Dick and Jane faced tragic difficulties that
many others faced in the recent foreclosure crisis. Dick and Jane felt so desperate that they decided the
most appropriate solution was stealing what they needed to feed their family. This sense of desperation
is what all those recovering from a foreclosure feel. Often times if families survive the immediate
hardships of foreclosure, then there are lasting ramifications such as poor credit, emotional stress, and
the loss of their home that they must face. In addition, they will struggle with obtaining future loans,
be subject to higher interest rates, and subject to higher security deposits for utilities. These
circumstances make it entirely difficult to recover from foreclosure and next to impossible to own a
home once again. However, among these trials there are methods those recovering from a foreclosure
can use to obtain a home such as a land contract. A land contract is a way to purchase a home with
financing through the seller rather than a bank. There is also a time period in which monthly payments
are made, and at the end of that time the buyer must pay for the home.

Essay On Snickers
How Snickers Are Made According to Wikipedia, the earliest candy bar was made in 1847 in the
United Kingdom by a man called Joseph Fry (Candy bar). In the world there are more than 70 types of
candy bars (Wikipedia). M M s is in the 1st place, and snickers comes in the 3rd place (Popcandy | top

bar is simple and it is done in seven steps.
The first two steps are show how to create a snicker. These steps are called collecting, and mixing the

for baking and freezing, and lastly is wrapping it to deliver the bars to the stores for selling them. The
first step is the longest step, because choosing good and fresh ingredients take a lot of time and work.
The second step is easier than the first step, because most of the work depends on the machines. The
only thing the workers have to do is watching the huge instruments work. The third move is the most
exciting, because watching the chocolate waterfalls makes people looking forward for it to finish.

Star Of David And The Menorah s Symbols
It seems that the earliest use of the symbol was in the form of a hexagram and used in many cultures
for decorative purposes that continued through the Middle Ages. Around the 17th century, the star was
found in Synagogue architecture in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe and was used by
Christians, Hindus, and Muslims at some point in time. The symbol gained more prominence when it
was chosen to appear on the flag at the First Zionist Congress in 1897. When the Zionists searched for
a symbol of their movement, they picked both the Star of David and the menorah, one for their flag,

adopted the city s existing flag and symbol (A History of the Crescent Moon in Islam, n.d.) but with
an 8 pointed star which was a common symbol for the Virgin Mary. There is speculation that the 8

The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel
April 12, 1999 marked the Seventh Millennium Evening at the White House and the 54th year after
Franklin Roosevelt s death. Years after personally experiencing the horrors of the Holocaust and
World War II, Elie Wiesel shared his story with America among the President and First lady, Hillary
Clinton, to inspire the world to act upon social and political injustices. In his speech The Perils of
Indifference , Wiesel opened up about his past and how it made him realize how important it is to
stand up against crimes against humanity. He also discussed the state of the American people and
compared their involvement in foreign intervention back to the lack of intervention in World War II.
Wiesel motivated America with his emphasis on the emotional, logical, and ethical impacts of
indifference. Perhaps the most influential piece of Wiesel s speech was his inclusion of unique
personal narrative. His touching story of his youth spent in a concentration camp gave weight to his
points on indifference as he recalled that Fifty four years ago to the day, a young Jewish boy from a
small town in the Carpathian Mountains woke up...in a place of eternal infamy called Buchenwald
(Wiesel). With no property to their name and no individual rights, they marched to Buchenwald where
his father later died before they could both escape ( Wiesel, Elie ). The reality of these past horrors
gave him a strong sense of credibility as he spoke on about the time when he was oppressed and
victimized.

Purposely difficult and intentionally obsessive, Plato s Phaedrus is an exceedingly difficult read that
defies all conventional logic as a piece of discourse. The text is extremely subjective, open to
interpretation and individual creativity as to what or whom the narrative is about. Written by Plato, a
close disciple of Socrates, this text is set along the Illissus river where Phaedrus and Socrates meet for
a day of speech, debate, rhetoric and okay...flirting. Phaedrus leads of the day and recites a speech by
his close friend Lysias, who Phaedrus considers to be a top speechmaker. Socrates then, after chiding

We, on our part, must prove that such madness is given by the gods for our greatest happiness; and our
proof will not be accepted by the merely clever, but will accepted by the truly wise (469).
It is my intention with this quote to show the crucial relationship between madness and the evolution
of higher thought. I argue very plainly for this correlation linking the truly wise and madness because
it demonstrates Socrates attempt to dangle an idea in front of Phaedrus, who after Socrates 1st speech
was expecting a philosophical, structured way of defining the soul and now left to wonder what
madness has to do with anything. The quote defends the claim that madness is an essential part of
Socrates attempt to persuade Phaedus (the reader) that madness is not something bad; the way Lysias
outlined it in his speech, but an obligatory element in developing a passion for something.
My discourse has shown that this is, of all inspirations, the best and of the highest origin to him who
has it or who shares in this madness, is called a lover (483).
Taken from Socrates 2nd speech, Socrates is using madness now on a different level, this time as tool
to describe inspiration to be a lover. Socrates literally cites his entire speech to explain how madness
leads to love; to passion, not just an evolution of thinking, but also a pursuit of how it manifests itself
through madness. It is the madness that I consider

Pillbug
Acidity of an ecosystem, measured in pH, is a crucial factor to the survival of a species in an
ecosystem. Altering it can have result in dramatically negative effects, in spite of the fact that pH of an
ecosystem has been dramatically changed over a relatively short period of time due to various human
activities. For example, acid rain is a major environmental problem that is caused by human made
pollution. When fossil fuels are burnt to get energy, pollutants like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides
get mixed into the rainwater and eventually are evaporated into the atmosphere. These gases enter the
atmosphere, and mix with water in the water cycle to form an acidic mixture of water and gases. This
water falls in the form of acid rain, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acidity increases by ten times for one pH level increase. Soil pH is a major constraint on plant
growth. Since plants are the base of the ecosystem, pillbugs may be affected by the pH change as well.
Soil acidity can be assisted by addition of certain other plants, like AM fungi, or the addition of basic
materials (Kawahara, et. al., 2016). We decided to investigate which pH level pillbugs naturally
preferred. We created three different choice chambers that had pH levels of 5, 7, and 9. This

more pillbugs in the choice chamber with a pH of 7 because a pH level of 5.5 to 7 is considered to be
the normal, natural environment of pillbugs. Usually, the pH that pillbugs are found in are 5.5 to 7

Descent From The Cross Analysis
Group 1, Question A
Catalina s masculine behaviors in her autobiography demonstrates how gender was socially
constructed in both Europe and America during the colonial era. One scene in particular is,
Meanwhile, some boys noticed me and surrounded me until, annoyed, I picked up some rocks and
injured one of them (I don t know where because I didn t see) They arrested me and kept me in jail for
one long month until he healed and they released me, with a little money remaining after my expenses
(2). In this scene she stands her own ground against a group of men with violence rather than
submitting to them or running away. Women during this era were not expected to defend themselves
or fight back. That is more acceptable action for men to perform. Her violent behavior put her in jail
not because she is unjust for defending herself, but because she struck a man and it was not socially

The And The Bill Of Rights Essay
The two sources of rights and fundamental principles found in the United States legal system as
outlined by the text. Liberties and Rights what are the different between the two. Both of these words
are in the Declaration of Independences and the Bill of Rights. These two words always been blurred,
when it comes to their distinction. However, in today laws the words used interchangeable. However,
they do example two different kinds of guaranteed protections. Supreme Court Judge Felix
Frankfurter stated that It s is a fair summary of Constitutional history that landmarks of our liberties
have often been forged in case involving not very nice people (UShistory.org, 2016). Civil liberties are
political liberties that give you protections against government actions (USHistory.org, 2016). Like,
the Bill of Rights First Amendment. Freedom of religion, which gives people the right to practices
whatever religion they like. Government, than, cannot interfere (Handler, 1994). Therefore, the First
Amendment gives people liberty from the actions of the government stepping in. Civil Rights are all
the rights the law gives a person. Constitutional or Statutory guaranties against discrimination due to
race, religion, national origin, gender, age, or disability (Handler, 1994). The way government try to

Colonialism In Canada
Through the transfer of disease, oppression, and urbanization, colonization has had a massive effect on
the health of both colonists and indigenous peoples. Through a colonial perspective, health is defined
as a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing and a dynamic condition resulting from a
body s constant adjustment and adaption in response to stresses and changes in the environment for
maintaining an inner equilibrium called homeostasis (World Health Organization). The concept of
global health is born from the relationship between health and colonization, or the policy or practice of
acquiring full or partial control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it
economically. Colonialism has had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the introduction of non native diseases and the facilitation of the spread of diseases amongst to
the cycles of poverty, disease, and poor mental health, colonization has had a huge negative impact on
the indigenous peoples in the area. The introduction of smallpox to the Americas from rats that were
stowed away on European ships caused a plague to erupt in the communities and lead to the use of
biological warfare against the Native Americans via smallpox blankets. In addition to biological
warfare, European colonists sent indigenous students to residential schools which has caused historical
trauma throughout generations of indigenous people in Canada. Colonization has also caused cycles of
poverty and disease which causes poor mental health due to stress and a lack of emotional support
from the community and helps facilitate the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted
diseases due to the fact that women will sell themselves to sustain a livelihood. Colonization has had a

Now, it is a shared vision by the top, middle, and lower levels of the company with one mission in
mind to do what is in the best interest of company. The company should use the top down and bottom

evaluation team to determine which plant should be the catalyst to receive the program. After selecting
the plant, the program should start at the top level of the plant because they are responsible for the day

The top level can assist in delivering the GGOL program to the other employees. The next level
should be the middle level because they are responsible for inspiring the workers to work collectively
towards a common goal, i.e., what is in the best interest of the plant. Needless to say, these individual

Alinsky Idea Of Silence
Alinsky states: Large parts of the middle class, the silent majority, must be activated; action and
articulation are one, as are silence and surrender. In my view, the idea of silence constitutes an array or

same thing that has previously not effected desirable change for the same problem or living life as
though nothing is happening. In other words, silence can take many forms. To illustrate, from Nerve
Gas to Mountain Meadows to the killings of Palestinian children in refugee camps to Trump s
presidency, someone who could have done something chose inaction or actions to perpetuate injustice.

Gender Roles In The Taming Of The Shrew
Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew was already renown for its boasting a battle of the sexes .
After all, the conflict of gender relations are so blatant in the piece, that they are nearly impossible to
ignore. However, it was in 1967 that the sexism was clearly spelled out in Franco Zeffirelli s film
adaptation of the famous play. Consequently, even those that are too languid to read the play, will
abandon their indolence and feverishly examine the role of gender in Zeffirelli s motion picture.
Specifically, at a first glance it appears as if Shakespeare characterizes Katherina as inherently evil.
Yet, then it becomes evident that male chauvinism permeates every scene as the audience witnesses
the strong female lead of Katherina be forced into submission by both her husband and her society, the
patriarchal Petruchio and Padua. Therefore, it is possible to ascertain that Shakespeare is
communicating the perils of sexism.
For starters, the Katherina that is present at the exposition, exudes a ... Show more content on

time the end the fifth act ends, Katherina has been beaten down into a nearly unrecognizable
submissive version of herself, which will pain any contemporary viewer. However, to the residents of
patriarchal Padua, she was now finally a desirable and worthwhile woman

Short Term Paper On Insomnia
Jules Verne once said, Though sleep is our bestfriend, it is a friend who often keeps us waiting! Sleep
is a very essential part of our day to day lives. However, if we do not get enough sleep, it can lead to a
common type of sleeping disorder called Insomnia. Insomnia is a disorder characterized by inability to
sleep or a total lack of sleep (Saddiccha 1). The simplest definition is being unable to sleep or to stay
asleep. Insomnia is derived from the Latin word insomnus which literally means no sleep. In 1818,
Insomnia was named as the first psychosomatic disorder by the German Physicist named Johann
Heinroth. Studies show that about 33 50% of adults have symptoms of insomnia but only 10 15% of
the general population actually have insomnia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number one treatment that many Insomniacs (people with insomnia) are recommended to take are
behavioral therapies. Behavioral therapies include education about good sleeping habits, cognitive
behavioral therapy (which is the process of eliminating or controlling negative thoughts), Relaxation
techniques, Stimulus control and many other types of treatments (Saddiccha, 1). Patients can actually
choose what they think is best for them but it is better to take the doctor s advice. A fact that most
people believe is that sleeping pills can actually cure insomnia. Sleeping pills can help a patient sleep
but it cannot actually cure insomnia (Thrasybule, 1). Also, most doctors do not recommend on taking
prescription sleeping pills for more than a few weeks but there other sleeping pills that are approved
for long term use ( Insomnia, 1). Since many people are being affected by Insomnia there are several
ways we can prevent and at the same time treat this particular disorder. The key is to change your
daily routine, and you can do this by exercising regularly, avoiding caffeine, getting regular exposure
to the late afternoon sun and practicing stress reduction techniques ( Insomnia, 1). Insomnia is mostly
under recognized, under diagnosed, and under treated which is suggesting that most people don t take
it as a big deal when it should be (Saddiccha, 1). If we work together as a community to make

The Importance Of Managers For The World Of Business Today
Managers play an important role in the world of business today. They are an essential part of a
company. They are like the caboose of a train. By definition a manager is someone that plans,

provide services in areas such as, business law, human resources, leadership, accounting, finance,
economics, research and statistics, operations management, marketing, and strategic planning. There
are three levels of management, the first level, middle level, and top level. Each of them perform

The next level of management would be the middle level. They are the general managers, regional
managers, and district managers of a company. Middle level managers are given the task of enforcing
the goals set by the top level managers. In addition, they set their own set of goals based upon the ones
set by the top level managers. Middle mangers do a lot work in assisting first line managers. They
help to encourage them to achieve business standards. They are like a liaison between the top level
managers and the first level managers because the communicate issues amongst the two levels. They
can monitor and help between small to large groups of people. A downside to being a middle level
manager is that sometimes messages can get mixed up between the top level and first level managers.
Of course as before the good side to it is the pay and the position. Many of these managers are former
first level managers that was promoted to the middle level management position. The last and final
level of management is the first level managers. The have got to be one of the most important

many frogs are morphologically similar but can be distinguished by genetic divergences. DNA

The Is A Vessel For The Soul Essay
Ancient religions tend to believe that the body is merely a vessel for the soul. Some, in their quest to
achieve a more significant spiritual attachment with God, have lambasted their bodies as symbols of
weakness and seek to rectify it through self mutilation or starvation. In Judaism, for example, the Old
Testament commands that the body be kept sacred. This restricts self mutilation and even tattoos.
However, fasting is still permitted and even encouraged. Aside from the commanded Old Testament
fast days such as Yom Kippur, there are other Rabbinic fast days throughout the year, and stories
abound of Rabbi s fasting routinely as a means of drawing themselves closer to their soul and to God.
Tradition even claims that Moses fasted for forty days upon the mountain before receiving the Old
Testament from God. Within Christianity, however, many went even further. Instead of just fasting,
many actively starved themselves and inflicted bodily harm upon them. Fasting does remain a
significant part, though, as proven by Jesus fasting for forty days and other Saints following his
example. This was a trait of Saints, who insisted on going through severe trials and tribulations in
order to conquer their own bodies. Some Saints would even make the ultimate sacrifice of Martyrdom.
Often, this was more pronounced among women who had the additional impurities that were not as
pronounced in men.
Rev Michael Geisler of St. Louis speculates that the purpose of the self mutilation was

Sears s Job As Station Agent Essay
Sears began its journey in 1886 when a Chicago jewelry company shipped some gold filled watches to
an unsuspecting jeweler in a Minnesota hamlet. Richard W. Sears was an agent of the Minneapolis and
St. Louis railway station in North Redwood, Minnesota. Sears s job as station agent left him plenty of
spare time, so he sold lumber and coal to local residents on the side to make extra money. Later, when
he received a shipment of watches, unwanted by a neighboring Redwood Falls jeweler, Sears
purchased them himself. He sold the watches at a nice profit to other station agents up and down the
line, and then ordered more for resale. In 1886 Sears began the R.W. Sears Watch Company in
Minneapolis. The following year, Sears moved his business to Chicago and inserted a classified ad in
the Chicago Daily News for a watchmaker. Enter Alvah C. Roebuck. Here began the association of
two young men, both still in their twenties, to make their names famous. For it was in 1893 that the
corporate name of the firm became Sears, Roebuck and Co was created. By the time Sears was
created, rural farmers were infuriated with the outrageous costs of buying supplies from the general

Gender Roles in Narnia
Regarded as one of the most beloved children books of the twentieth century, C. S. Lewis The Lion,
the Witch and the Wardrobe has found its way into the prolific canon of British literature and into the
hearts of both children and adults alike. Published in 1950, this tale of a frost bitten wood, fauns, and
other fantastic events is masterfully written to appeal to all ages. Set during World War II in England,
four children are sent to live with an old professor in a mansion in the English countryside. The
scenery soon changes as a retreat into a mothball infested wardrobe magically transports them into a
world beyond the farthest reaches of their imaginations. As they learn of the plights of the many

Since Father Christmas is a good character whose opinion it to be trusted by the average child, it
appears that the true role for women in Narnia excludes them from battle entirely. Yet, although this
could be construed purely as a negative outlook on women, Lewis makes sure to add a more clear
criticism of men. Very soon after this incident, Mrs. Beaver urges the party to move along and not
dumbly stand there talking . . . just like men (117). It is here that another perspective, a feminine
viewpoint, is added. This proves to establish men as boorish and slothful. This, in addition to the
previous example, is a display on the popular opinion of men during Lewis time: that they are
chauvinistic and hardly helpful. Although the criticisms of men are present within the novel, the
negative treatment of women is much more prevalent. This is most obvious in the depiction of the
traditional roles of women. Much like Father Christmas is a catalyst for commentary on his own
gender, Susan Pevensie, the oldest of the Pevensie daughters, is included in the novel mainly for an
avenue for Lewis opinions of women. In the same passage in which we are introduced to Father
Christmas, Susan is given a little ivory horn (116). Holding no value as an instrument form combat,
the horn is meant for one thing: calling for help. This confirms the stereotype of women solely as

Common Problem Areas
There are a significant number of common problem areas in writing reports in the criminal justice
field, because individuals often submit reports without proofreading and correcting mistakes.
Consequently, it has a negative impact on the overall quality of the report because it can make it
difficult for readers to understand the issues or topics that is being discussed in the report. Thus, it is
an important rule to remember not to submit any written report without proof reading it, including
reports that are simple and straightforward (Miller Whitehead, 2015). As previously stated, one of the
common problem areas is misinterpretation, which stems from difficult reading and understanding the
report. Therefore, it is important to read and

and synapses to prevent amyloidosis and inhibit further aggregation56. In the CNS, nonneuronal cell
linages like astrocytes have been reported to have an elevated level of HSPs to target misfolded
protein degradation53. However, a major gap in the field is the lack of any such reports about the
extracellular chaperons in the protection of CNS and neuronal structure and function.
Although not fully understood, but it has been reported that different cells have different susceptibility
to proteotoxic stress. The unfolded protein response evoked by cells in response to proteotoxic stress
involves an orchestered functioning of the proteostasis pathways57.
Neuronal cells and cell of the central nervous system bear an increased risk of being burdened by
misfolded protein aggregates under stress or disease conditions. For example, dopaminergic neurons
in the substantia nigra in case of Parkinson s disease, motor neurons in the motor cortex and spinal
cord in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cholinergic neurons in the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex in
case of Alzheimer s disease, are those cells with greater susceptibility in comparison to other cells51.
One way of looking at this is to explore the difference in terms of the expression of the proteostasis
components in these cells, and that of the pathological marker proteins like amyloid Ī², Ī± synuclein,
Lewy body, huntingtin and bunnina bodies51. A comparison of deficiencies or abnormal expression

The Overall Growth And Development Of C.p
Introduction C.P. is a 14 year old male that this nursing student saw on January 19, 2016 who was
admitted to Renown Health s pediatric floor to determine the cause of his cyclical vomiting. C.P. has a
secondary diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder. In this paper, I will discuss the overall growth and
development of C.P. based on four developmental theorists and other children in his age range.
Overview of Growth and Development Growth generally refers to an increase in the physical size of a
whole or any of its parts or an increase in the number and size of cell. Development is generally
considered to be a continuous, orderly series of conditions leading to activities, new motives for
activities, and patterns of behavior (James, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
51). C.P. is fourteen years old, he is categorized in the adolescence stage and age grouping.
Parameters of growth provide information on how the child should normally grow. Data in the
determination of normal includes weight, height, and head circumference. It is suggested that these
should be measured at regular intervals throughout childhood to ensure the child is on track for normal
growth (James, et al, 2013, p. 51).
Factors influencing growth and development include genetics, environment, culture, nutrition, health
status, and family. Each factor contains information as to how the child s growth and development can
be affected (James, et al, 2013, pp. 52 54).
Developmental Theorists and Theories Freud s stages of psychosexual development. Freud believed
that early childhood experiences provide unconscious motivation for actions later in life (Freud,
1960). The basis of Freud s psychosexual theory is certain parts of the body assume psychological
significance as the focus of sexual energy throughout the development of the child (James, et al, 2013,
p. 57). Freud s work may help to explain normal behavior that parents may confuse with abnormal
behavior, and it also may provide a good foundation for sex education (James, et al, 2013, p. 57). The
stages of this theory include oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital (James, et al, 2013, p. 57). Oral

kinds of experiences and ideas adds to, and justifies, the movement of modern science. Modern
science is all about observing the natural world in order to understand and gain knowledge about what
is going around us. I agree that humans do gain knowledge and form different kinds of ideas through
our senses and different experiences.
The reoccurring theme with John Locke s theory on modern science is the idea of the senses and how
knowledge is made through sense data. Empiricism is the notion that all knowledge comes from sense
experience. We, as conscious individuals, do not know anything until we experience it with our own
senses, which then our senses shape our mind on how we view and understand a certain object as well
as his concept of simple and complex ideas Lock, and many other empiricists, believes in Tabula rasa,
which states there are no such thing as innate ideas, and that we are all blank slates. We are only able
to fill this blank slate through experiences with our senses. Without experiencing something, we know
have knowledge, which makes sense. Back in the cave man days, our ancestors did not have science
or history books to know that fire keeps you warm when it is cold outside. They had to pretty much
figure it out on their own. They had to discover first how to make fire, then feel that the fire was hot,
then figure out that that the fire could keep them warm in

Essay On Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula
INTRODUCTION:
Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare vascular malformation accounting for 1.6 % of
all intracranial vascular malformations [1]. Approximately 170 cases of pial arteriovenous fistulae
have been reported since 1970. It consists of one or more arterial feeders and usually a single venous
channel [2]. The direct arteriovenous shunt results in high venous blood flow and varix formation with
the subsequent risk of haemorrhage. PAVF can be congenital or result from iatrogenic or traumatic
injury [2]. However, the exact cause remains elusive. PAVF may present with a wide range of
neurologic symptoms including an asymptomatic state, head ache, seizures, focal neurologic deficit to
potentially catastrophic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All patients had a diagnostic angiogram prior to the embolization procedure. Fourteen patients were
treated endovascularly.
Onyx alone was used in seven patients, coils alone in two patients, coils with onyx in two patients,

in a case reduce the flow while injecting glue. Onyx 18 in 6 cases onyx 34 was used in one case. We
used Marathon microcatheter (ev3) for injection of NBCA and onyx, Echelon microcatheter for
coiling. The microcatheter was positioned just proximal to the fistulous site from where the onyx or
NBCA was injected.
The procedures were performed on Siemens Artis Zee (Siemens, Germany) Biplane digital subtraction
angiography machine.
Patients were followed up, mRS at 3 months was assessed. After that patients were followed up at one
year. Outcome were categorized as neurologically excellent without any symptoms (modified Rankin
Scale 0), good (modified Rankin Scale 1 or 2) and poor (modified Rankin Scale score 2).
RESULTS
Fourteen patients were treated with endovascular means. One patient showed spontaneous obliteration
of the fistula just prior to interventional procedure. Of these nine patients (60%) were male patients
and six were female. The mean age of the treated patients was 12.5 with a range of 3 to 32 years. The
mean age of all the patients was years 14 with a range of 3 to 37 years.

The Role Of Cousins In Professional Sports
With the NFL off season fast approaching, there are a lot of storylines to keep an eye on that could
make this off season really interesting. One story to keep an eye on is the drama between the
Washington Redskins and their franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Ever since the last off season, Cousins has been asking to get a new contract the problem with that is
the team and Cousins can not agree on a deal. Over the past few weeks, people have been speculating
if the team would trade him. The question now is should the team trade Cousins?
Drafted in the 4th round of the 2012 draft, Cousins was drafted to be the long term backup for Robert
Griffin III who they drafted in the same draft as him getting selected with the second pick of the 2012

The only thing that is standing in his way of getting a new deal is how much does he want? It all
depends on his asking price, he is heading to his 30 s soon so he should want to get the most money he
can get right now and not wait.
On the Redskins side of things, the team is playing the waiting game with Cousins when it comes to a
new contract which could at the end of the day be a really bad thing. Multiple reports that are out there
are saying that the team does not think he is worth the money he is asking for.
The Redskins should do the smart thing and just lock him up right now as long as he does not want
over 100 million dollars a fair asking price is between 50 million dollars and 70 million dollars. There
are not a lot of franchise quarterbacks out there right now, and the team can not afford to lose him
right now.
At the end of the day, the Redskins should not trade Cousins he is too valuable to the franchise right
now and he means a lot to the locker room. If the team does trade him, there are not going to be a lot
of options to replace him with the quarterbacks in the draft do not have the potential that Cousins has

Social Security Reform
I believe our current social security system should be replaced by a mandatory private pension system.
If it is not gracefully transitioned from the way it currently is then it will unfortunately disappear
altogether in an abrupt fashion. A replacement will alleviate this issue and replace it with a viable
option that can sustain itself.
First let us get into the numbers. If we are just looking at the retirement benefit and not disability or
Medicare then our current system is barely balancing. In 2012 the total amount of income was 731.1
billion and a payout of 645.4 billion. With still more baby boomers to come this cannot be sustained.
Also, how are we to know when the next baby boom will occur? The average life expectancy when
social security was introduced in 1935 was 61.9 which is now our average retirement age. The current
life expectancy is 78.7 as of 2011. This means that someone needs to be able to save enough money
for at least 17.7 years. This adds more to our baby boomer issue. There was recently a study done by
MIT, showing the living wage rates for an individual or family. This matters as we cannot create a
program that will place someone into poverty now for a tomorrow that is not promised. This doesn t
mean we don t think about tomorrow but we need to put it in perspective. With all of this data I think
we can create a new system that is not only feasible during retirement age but also allows someone to
make a living now.
Now we need to look a bit deeper

Scout And Calpurnia Quotes
Jean Finch, also known as Scout, is the main character in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Scout
is a young girl living in a small town, Maycomb, Alabama. Throughout the story you witness Scout
develop into a curious, strong, and understanding character. Jean is close to her brother Jem, father
Atticus, and Cook Calpurnia. The Finch family lost their mother while the children were young and
the absence of a mother figure is prominent in Jean. In the first chapters, the reader sees Jean playing
with boys more than girls and having more interest on what is happening outside not what Calpurnia is
doing in the kitchen. From the beginning, it is portrayed that Scout is more intelligent than the rest of
the kids in her class. Due to the way she speaks and carries herself. The children in Maycomb often do
not know how to read and write until their first year of school. However, Scout knows how to do this
task better than some kids in the higher grades. Therefore, it causes trouble with the students and most
importantly her teacher. A large conflict comes forth with Jean s teacher, causing Jean to believe that
she does not need to exceed the reading goals for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During these situations, she finds herself wanting to fight her way out. While doing this, she
demonstrates what understanding her limits. Meaning, she knows she can not fight due to the fact that
she is a young girl. Jean gets this trait from her father, Atticus, being a lawyer you have to know what
limits are and make them prominent. Atticus has a strong personality and believes he is a noble man
that needs to defend anyone who needs help. Therefore, most kids have problems with Scout and Jem
because of who their father defends. Jem teaches Scout to turn her cheek and fight the urge of talking
back to the kids that do not believe in Atticus. Overall, the reader can tell Scout is more mature than
the rest of the children in the

The Meat Industry
The most crucial player in the expansion of the animal production industries is the capitalist. The
antagonists are Smithfield, Tyson, Hormel, JBS, and Cargill which posses a monopoly over the meat
industry. After President Theodore Roosevelt read the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, he
exclaimed, Radical action must be taken to do away with the efforts of arrogant and selfish greed on
the part of the capitalist (Sinclair). These players can decide the price of meat and whether or not costs
are high or low. The value of safety to these corporations means very little to the animal and the
workers. The animals are confined into tight facilities, pumped with antibiotics and growth hormones,
left to live in filthy living conditions, and potential for animal abuse (Steinberg). ... Show more

67 68). Concerned farmers argue that the major slaughterhouses, producers, and packers are tied into
the USDA politically. The USDA regulations don t serve the public or the small farms; however hold
the hands of the capitalists (Farmageddon). These Corporations claim their mission and commitments
are sustainable by using catching slogans such as Good food. Responsibly! (Smithfield).
Unfortunately, the Wal Mart of the meat industry, Smithfield, contradicts their mission statement by
saying, To be a trusted, respected and ethical food industry leader that excels at bringing delicious and
nutritious meat and specialty food products to millions every day while setting industry standards for
corporate social responsibility (Smithfield) . Smithfield has been involved in scandalous animal abuse
cases and are major contributors to unhealthy environmental conditions (Peta). Capitalism is a major
hurdle to overcome in factory farming but with speaking out and educating our public solutions can be
made

  • 2. The Politics And Last National Security Essay Arms Trade, Weapons Sales, Armament Sales are just few terms used for the manufacture and sale or trade of devices to protect a country, attack another and quite possibly benefit economically, or politically on a global scale. Countries, entities, factions, make, sell, and give things of destruction to others. This is a reality. The intent of this paper is to provide information that individuals can use to determine the necessity. The economics, the politics and last the National Security are the three main discussion points. History History of Arms Trade, Weapons Trade or the trade any of items necessary to protect, feed or conquer dates back to the dawn of time. Scholars note that arms trade or weapons trade could be traced back 300,000 years (Thieme). As humans evolved and interacted with each other, scholars speculate that the trade of many things occurred. The trade would include stories, knowledge, which can be considered intangibles, then the tangibles, seeds for food, things to make tools, how to make a shelter, weapons for protection and survival. Basically trade included instruction and things needed for every aspect of life; to survive. Agers 2 Elements of Thought Think about it this way. You have a clan or tribe with really good sharp rocks and a clan or tribe with really good wood staffs. You put both together you have a more lethal device, for protection and providing food. An item that was designed to help a human to survive evolved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. German Art Observation Paper I visited Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the exhibition named Form in Fragments: Abstraction in German Art, 1906 1925 which highlighted in abstraction in German Expressionism. The exhibition was composed of over 60 works including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Lyonel Feininger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Erich Heckel, Otto Dix, and an abstract film by Hans Richter. Among the many works on view, one of the Paul Klee s prints titled Hoffmannesque Scene caught my eye. Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that was inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including human and animal with shaded blocks. The depiction of the scene resembles cave and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention. However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody, especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the background of the print presents a sense of color, the artist detached color from physical description and the objects are drawn childlike. Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that depicts an image of his or her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Much of the immune system s work is carried out by an army of various specialized cells, each type designed to fight disease in a particular way. The invading microbes first run into the vanguard of this army, which includes white blood cells called macrophages (literally, big eaters ). The macrophages engulf as many of the microbes as they can. ANTIGENS SOUND THE ALARM How do the macrophages recognize the microbes? The City of Arlington provided over $325 million (including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, following its policy for facilitating financing for the construction of new stadiums, (Page 1). Strengths and Weaknesses A key strength that the Cowboys franchise holds is the obvious tradition of winning and success on the football field. As mentioned before, the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl titles and that gives the team a legendary aura every time they step out on the field. This allows their fan base to be very large, consistent and proud to be part of the franchise. Along with that strength though, comes a weakness. The history of the Cowboys is a history of excellence and winning which is hard to hold and be consistent with in the NFL. Winning three Super Bowl titles in four years is a hard mark to reach but ever since that accomplishment the Cowboys have been nowhere near replicating that achievement. The fan base was created through the great seasons of football that the Cowboys have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Causes Of Teen Suicide Fifteen minutes fifty nine seconds then sixteen minutes hits, and another teen commits suicide due to something going on in their life. It is crazy that in just sixteen minutes another teen commits suicide. What would possibly be causing teen to take their life this quick? Could it be drug abuse, depression, stress, peer pressure, or whatever else you could think of? Teen suicide is the second leading cause of death of teens in the US. Parents wonder why teens commit suicide, and the worst part is that they will never know why it happened. The guilt fills them to the brim, and it makes the parents feel like they could have done something if they knew what the problem was. With the rates of teen suicide rising the questions are growing on why they took their life, however the main reason that teens commit suicide are because of peer pressure and emotional neglect. (just a little more hardcore on the argument) Teenage suicide is mainly caused through social media, so social media sites to have more intense and more controlled filters. 4,500 teens commit suicide every month due to cyberbullying (Cyberbullying Hotline). This is because there is someone out there that is so low that they want to bully someone else. With social media playing a huge roll today, there is constantly drama or bullying going on. Social media says that they filter out cyberbullying on their sites, but anyone can go to any social media platform and look at many bullying posts. Most of teen suicides are committed with firearms with 60 % (Kids Health). This is because most teens have some sort of access to a firearm making it the easiest way to commit suicide. All firearms should be locked in a safe and unloaded so that the risk of a teen suicide will be lessened. Hamm and her colleagues did not find consistent links between being bullied and self harm across the studies (Stephanie Pappas). However, cyberbullying helps to lead onto suicide because teens cannot even be in the comfort of the own homes without being bullied. A stricter filter should be added to social media sites so that the number of teen suicides will drop due to cyberbullying. Teens have always suffered from cyberbullying and suicide, but with the new filters the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Story Of Fun With Dick And Jane The story of Fun with Dick and Jane is one about a very up and coming business man who loses his job as a result of his employer s economic difficulty. Consequently, these circumstances leave his family not only in a financial crisis, but in clear and utter hopelessness. From the grass literally being pulled out of their front yard to their home foreclosure, Dick and Jane faced tragic difficulties that many others faced in the recent foreclosure crisis. Dick and Jane felt so desperate that they decided the most appropriate solution was stealing what they needed to feed their family. This sense of desperation is what all those recovering from a foreclosure feel. Often times if families survive the immediate hardships of foreclosure, then there are lasting ramifications such as poor credit, emotional stress, and the loss of their home that they must face. In addition, they will struggle with obtaining future loans, be subject to higher interest rates, and subject to higher security deposits for utilities. These circumstances make it entirely difficult to recover from foreclosure and next to impossible to own a home once again. However, among these trials there are methods those recovering from a foreclosure can use to obtain a home such as a land contract. A land contract is a way to purchase a home with financing through the seller rather than a bank. There is also a time period in which monthly payments are made, and at the end of that time the buyer must pay for the home. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Years after personally experiencing the horrors of the Holocaust and World War II, Elie Wiesel shared his story with America among the President and First lady, Hillary Clinton, to inspire the world to act upon social and political injustices. In his speech The Perils of Indifference , Wiesel opened up about his past and how it made him realize how important it is to stand up against crimes against humanity. He also discussed the state of the American people and compared their involvement in foreign intervention back to the lack of intervention in World War II. Wiesel motivated America with his emphasis on the emotional, logical, and ethical impacts of indifference. Perhaps the most influential piece of Wiesel s speech was his inclusion of unique personal narrative. His touching story of his youth spent in a concentration camp gave weight to his points on indifference as he recalled that Fifty four years ago to the day, a young Jewish boy from a small town in the Carpathian Mountains woke up...in a place of eternal infamy called Buchenwald (Wiesel). It is my intention with this quote to show the crucial relationship between madness and the evolution of higher thought. I argue very plainly for this correlation linking the truly wise and madness because it demonstrates Socrates attempt to dangle an idea in front of Phaedrus, who after Socrates 1st speech was expecting a philosophical, structured way of defining the soul and now left to wonder what madness has to do with anything. The quote defends the claim that madness is an essential part of Socrates attempt to persuade Phaedus (the reader) that madness is not something bad; the way Lysias outlined it in his speech, but an obligatory element in developing a passion for something. My discourse has shown that this is, of all inspirations, the best and of the highest origin to him who has it or who shares in this madness, is called a lover (483). Altering it can have result in dramatically negative effects, in spite of the fact that pH of an ecosystem has been dramatically changed over a relatively short period of time due to various human activities. For example, acid rain is a major environmental problem that is caused by human made pollution. When fossil fuels are burnt to get energy, pollutants like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides get mixed into the rainwater and eventually are evaporated into the atmosphere. These gases enter the atmosphere, and mix with water in the water cycle to form an acidic mixture of water and gases. This water falls in the form of acid rain, which ... Since plants are the base of the ecosystem, pillbugs may be affected by the pH change as well. Soil acidity can be assisted by addition of certain other plants, like AM fungi, or the addition of basic materials (Kawahara, et. al., 2016). We decided to investigate which pH level pillbugs naturally preferred. We created three different choice chambers that had pH levels of 5, 7, and 9. This experiment will test if pH has an effect on pillbug choice of habitat. We predicted that there will be more pillbugs in the choice chamber with a pH of 7 because a pH level of 5.5 to 7 is considered to be the normal, natural environment of pillbugs. Usually, the pH that pillbugs are found in are 5.5 to 7 (Kawahara, et. al., 2016). In each habitat, the number of pillbugs will be counted every minute for 15 minutes. Descent From The Cross Analysis Group 1, Question A Catalina s masculine behaviors in her autobiography demonstrates how gender was socially constructed in both Europe and America during the colonial era. In this scene she stands her own ground against a group of men with violence rather than submitting to them or running away. Women during this era were not expected to defend themselves or fight back. That is more acceptable action for men to perform. Her violent behavior put her in jail not because she is unjust for defending herself, but because she struck a man and it was not socially acceptable for a woman to do so. After all, the conflict of gender relations are so blatant in the piece, that they are nearly impossible to ignore. However, it was in 1967 that the sexism was clearly spelled out in Franco Zeffirelli s film adaptation of the famous play. Consequently, even those that are too languid to read the play, will abandon their indolence and feverishly examine the role of gender in Zeffirelli s motion picture. Specifically, at a first glance it appears as if Shakespeare characterizes Katherina as inherently evil. Yet, then it becomes evident that male chauvinism permeates every scene as the audience witnesses the strong female lead of Katherina be forced into submission by both her husband and her society, the patriarchal Petruchio and Padua. Therefore, it is possible to ascertain that Shakespeare is communicating the perils of sexism. For starters, the Katherina that is present at the exposition, exudes a ... Insomnia is a disorder characterized by inability to sleep or a total lack of sleep (Saddiccha 1). The simplest definition is being unable to sleep or to stay asleep. Insomnia is derived from the Latin word insomnus which literally means no sleep. In 1818, Insomnia was named as the first psychosomatic disorder by the German Physicist named Johann Heinroth. Patients can actually choose what they think is best for them but it is better to take the doctor s advice. A fact that most people believe is that sleeping pills can actually cure insomnia. Sleeping pills can help a patient sleep but it cannot actually cure insomnia (Thrasybule, 1). Some, in their quest to achieve a more significant spiritual attachment with God, have lambasted their bodies as symbols of weakness and seek to rectify it through self mutilation or starvation. In Judaism, for example, the Old Testament commands that the body be kept sacred. This restricts self mutilation and even tattoos. However, fasting is still permitted and even encouraged. Aside from the commanded Old Testament fast days such as Yom Kippur, there are other Rabbinic fast days throughout the year, and stories abound of Rabbi s fasting routinely as a means of drawing themselves closer to their soul and to God. Tradition even claims that Moses fasted for forty days upon the mountain before receiving the Old Testament from God. Within Christianity, however, many went even further. Instead of just fasting, many actively starved themselves and inflicted bodily harm upon them. Fasting does remain a significant part, though, as proven by Jesus fasting for forty days and other Saints following his example. This was a trait of Saints, who insisted on going through severe trials and tribulations in order to conquer their own bodies. Some Saints would even make the ultimate sacrifice of Martyrdom. Often, this was more pronounced among women who had the additional impurities that were not as pronounced in men. Sears s job as station agent left him plenty of spare time, so he sold lumber and coal to local residents on the side to make extra money. Later, when he received a shipment of watches, unwanted by a neighboring Redwood Falls jeweler, Sears purchased them himself. He sold the watches at a nice profit to other station agents up and down the line, and then ordered more for resale. In 1886 Sears began the R.W. Sears Watch Company in Minneapolis. Set during World War II in England, four children are sent to live with an old professor in a mansion in the English countryside. Since Father Christmas is a good character whose opinion it to be trusted by the average child, it appears that the true role for women in Narnia excludes them from battle entirely. Yet, although this could be construed purely as a negative outlook on women, Lewis makes sure to add a more clear criticism of men. Very soon after this incident, Mrs. Beaver urges the party to move along and not dumbly stand there talking . . . just like men (117). It is here that another perspective, a feminine viewpoint, is added. This proves to establish men as boorish and slothful. This, in addition to the previous example, is a display on the popular opinion of men during Lewis time: that they are chauvinistic and hardly helpful. Although the criticisms of men are present within the novel, the negative treatment of women is much more prevalent. This is most obvious in the depiction of the traditional roles of women. Much like Father Christmas is a catalyst for commentary on his own gender, Susan Pevensie, the oldest of the Pevensie daughters, is included in the novel mainly for an avenue for Lewis opinions of women. In the same passage in which we are introduced to Father Christmas, Susan is given a little ivory horn (116). In the CNS, nonneuronal cell linages like astrocytes have been reported to have an elevated level of HSPs to target misfolded protein degradation53. However, a major gap in the field is the lack of any such reports about the extracellular chaperons in the protection of CNS and neuronal structure and function. Although not fully understood, but it has been reported that different cells have different susceptibility to proteotoxic stress. The unfolded protein response evoked by cells in response to proteotoxic stress involves an orchestered functioning of the proteostasis pathways57. Neuronal cells and cell of the central nervous system bear an increased risk of being burdened by misfolded protein aggregates under stress or disease conditions. For example, dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra in case of Parkinson s disease, motor neurons in the motor cortex and spinal cord in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cholinergic neurons in the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex in case of Alzheimer s disease, are those cells with greater susceptibility in comparison to other cells51. One way of looking at this is to explore the difference in terms of the expression of the proteostasis components in these cells, and that of the pathological marker proteins like amyloid Ī², Ī± synuclein, Lewy body, huntingtin and bunnina bodies51. Overview of Growth and Development Growth generally refers to an increase in the physical size of a whole or any of its parts or an increase in the number and size of cell. Development is generally considered to be a continuous, orderly series of conditions leading to activities, new motives for activities, and patterns of behavior (James, ... Parameters of growth provide information on how the child should normally grow. Data in the determination of normal includes weight, height, and head circumference. It is suggested that these should be measured at regular intervals throughout childhood to ensure the child is on track for normal growth (James, et al, 2013, p. 51). Factors influencing growth and development include genetics, environment, culture, nutrition, health status, and family. Each factor contains information as to how the child s growth and development can be affected (James, et al, 2013, pp. 52 54). Developmental Theorists and Theories Freud s stages of psychosexual development. Freud believed that early childhood experiences provide unconscious motivation for actions later in life (Freud, 1960). The basis of Freud s psychosexual theory is certain parts of the body assume psychological significance as the focus of sexual energy throughout the development of the child (James, et al, 2013, p. 57). Freud s work may help to explain normal behavior that parents may confuse with abnormal behavior, and it also may provide a good foundation for sex education (James, et al, 2013, p. 57). The stages of this theory include oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital (James, et al, 2013, p. 57). Oral stage from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. John Locke s Theory On Modern Science John Locke s theories on how knowledge is gained through the senses and how there are different kinds of experiences and ideas adds to, and justifies, the movement of modern science. Modern science is all about observing the natural world in order to understand and gain knowledge about what is going around us. I agree that humans do gain knowledge and form different kinds of ideas through our senses and different experiences. The reoccurring theme with John Locke s theory on modern science is the idea of the senses and how knowledge is made through sense data. Empiricism is the notion that all knowledge comes from sense experience. We, as conscious individuals, do not know anything until we experience it with our own senses, which then our senses shape our mind on how we view and understand a certain object as well as his concept of simple and complex ideas Lock, and many other empiricists, believes in Tabula rasa, which states there are no such thing as innate ideas, and that we are all blank slates. We are only able to fill this blank slate through experiences with our senses. Without experiencing something, we know have knowledge, which makes sense. Back in the cave man days, our ancestors did not have science or history books to know that fire keeps you warm when it is cold outside. They had to pretty much figure it out on their own. They had to discover first how to make fire, then feel that the fire was hot, then figure out that that the fire could keep them warm in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Essay On Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula INTRODUCTION: Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare vascular malformation accounting for 1.6 % of all intracranial vascular malformations [1]. Approximately 170 cases of pial arteriovenous fistulae have been reported since 1970. It consists of one or more arterial feeders and usually a single venous channel [2]. The direct arteriovenous shunt results in high venous blood flow and varix formation with the subsequent risk of haemorrhage. PAVF can be congenital or result from iatrogenic or traumatic injury [2]. However, the exact cause remains elusive. PAVF may present with a wide range of neurologic symptoms including an asymptomatic state, head ache, seizures, focal neurologic deficit to potentially catastrophic ... The procedures were performed on Siemens Artis Zee (Siemens, Germany) Biplane digital subtraction angiography machine. Patients were followed up, mRS at 3 months was assessed. After that patients were followed up at one year. Outcome were categorized as neurologically excellent without any symptoms (modified Rankin Scale 0), good (modified Rankin Scale 1 or 2) and poor (modified Rankin Scale score 2). RESULTS Fourteen patients were treated with endovascular means. One patient showed spontaneous obliteration of the fistula just prior to interventional procedure. Of these nine patients (60%) were male patients and six were female. The mean age of the treated patients was 12.5 with a range of 3 to 32 years. • 46. The Role Of Cousins In Professional Sports With the NFL off season fast approaching, there are a lot of storylines to keep an eye on that could make this off season really interesting. One story to keep an eye on is the drama between the Washington Redskins and their franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins. Ever since the last off season, Cousins has been asking to get a new contract the problem with that is the team and Cousins can not agree on a deal. Over the past few weeks, people have been speculating if the team would trade him. The question now is should the team trade Cousins? Drafted in the 4th round of the 2012 draft, Cousins was drafted to be the long term backup for Robert Griffin III who they drafted in the same draft as him getting selected with the second pick of the 2012 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only thing that is standing in his way of getting a new deal is how much does he want? It all depends on his asking price, he is heading to his 30 s soon so he should want to get the most money he can get right now and not wait. On the Redskins side of things, the team is playing the waiting game with Cousins when it comes to a new contract which could at the end of the day be a really bad thing. Multiple reports that are out there are saying that the team does not think he is worth the money he is asking for. The Redskins should do the smart thing and just lock him up right now as long as he does not want over 100 million dollars a fair asking price is between 50 million dollars and 70 million dollars. There are not a lot of franchise quarterbacks out there right now, and the team can not afford to lose him right now. At the end of the day, the Redskins should not trade Cousins he is too valuable to the franchise right now and he means a lot to the locker room. If the team does trade him, there are not going to be a lot of options to replace him with the quarterbacks in the draft do not have the potential that Cousins has right ... • 47. Social Security Reform I believe our current social security system should be replaced by a mandatory private pension system. If it is not gracefully transitioned from the way it currently is then it will unfortunately disappear altogether in an abrupt fashion. A replacement will alleviate this issue and replace it with a viable option that can sustain itself. First let us get into the numbers. If we are just looking at the retirement benefit and not disability or Medicare then our current system is barely balancing. In 2012 the total amount of income was 731.1 billion and a payout of 645.4 billion. With still more baby boomers to come this cannot be sustained. Also, how are we to know when the next baby boom will occur? The average life expectancy when social security was introduced in 1935 was 61.9 which is now our average retirement age. The current life expectancy is 78.7 as of 2011. This means that someone needs to be able to save enough money for at least 17.7 years. This adds more to our baby boomer issue. There was recently a study done by MIT, showing the living wage rates for an individual or family. This matters as we cannot create a program that will place someone into poverty now for a tomorrow that is not promised. This doesn t mean we don t think about tomorrow but we need to put it in perspective. With all of this data I think we can create a new system that is not only feasible during retirement age but also allows someone to make a living now. Now we need to look a bit deeper ... • 49. The Meat Industry The most crucial player in the expansion of the animal production industries is the capitalist. The antagonists are Smithfield, Tyson, Hormel, JBS, and Cargill which posses a monopoly over the meat industry. After President Theodore Roosevelt read the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, he exclaimed, Radical action must be taken to do away with the efforts of arrogant and selfish greed on the part of the capitalist (Sinclair). These players can decide the price of meat and whether or not costs are high or low. The value of safety to these corporations means very little to the animal and the workers.
