A Day Vs Stolen Day
Influenza is a highly contagious infection, it is known more commonly as the flu. Inflammatory
rheumatism is a word that describes a series of different types of inflamed joints and muscles.
Inflammatory rheumatism is not contagious. Each of the stories mainly takes place inside their houses.
But, A Stolen Day also takes place at School and at the lake. Based on the text I believe both stories
happened in the late 1800s to the early 1900s There are many similarities and differences between the
characters in the stories A Day s Wait and A Stolen Day. The two stories had lots in common. For
example, in both of the stories, kids had impacted their thoughts. In A Day s Wait Schatz thought he
was going to die because when he went to

Helicopter Parent Research Paper
College is typically the prime of a young adult s life, it s where students get their first taste of freedom
and have a newfound independence and although this is what most teenagers so strongly desire, there
are some who do not know how to properly handle the world alone. These people are those with
helicopter parents. Helicopter parents are parents who, like their nickname, are always hovering over
their children to protect them and make sure all their needs are being met. These parents usually go far
beyond just being an attentive parent, so much so that they fully involve themselves in the lives of
their child, making it their duty for their child to succeed in any way possible. Helicopter parenting
also appears to be on the rise and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most research evidence is supporting the idea that helicopter parenting is harmful. It s clear that there
has been changes in recent years with students and the common factor happens to be helicopter
parenting. Mothers and fathers are their raising children that have had their abilities and self assurance
stripped away to be held by them. Being loving and supportive is also not enough to help reverse the
damage done by the smothering involvement so, no matter how helicopter parents go about managing
their children, they re still managing their children. The only way to solve this problem is for parents
to learn how to let go and find other ways to engage with their child without controlling them, they
must put their trust in them and believe that the young adult they raised is as talented and gifted
enough of a person as they believe them to

Nostalgia And Loss In American Beauty
When watching movies, various life lessons or themes can be picked up on that are scattered
throughout the films in subtle ways. Some messages can be picked up instantly while other messages
will make you sit back and think just a bit harder. American Beauty was a film released in 1999 that
was filled with numerous interpretations of which themes can be accounted for. Nostalgia and loss,
and issues with obsession are two themes or issues that stood out when watching the film for the first
time. American Beauty is a drama film directed by Sam Mendes. The film follows sympathetic lead
character, Lester as he lives his boring, mundane life. Lester seems to have the picture perfect life on
the surface of things but that isn t always the case. Lester is an advertising executive and magazine
writer who eventually ends up despising his job. His wife, Carolyn, is a career driven real estate
broker who becomes more obsessed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the film, there is times when Lester wishes things can go back to the way they were. One scene
during the film Carolyn returns home to find Lester goofing off with a remote control car. Lester
precedes to complement Carolyn and seduce her and talk about fond memories that they have
together. He questions what happened to the girl that would run out on the roof and flash traffic
helicopters and fake seizures. This is just once example of Lester being nostalgic and remembering
how life use to be. Another example of nostalgia within American Beauty in the ending scene of the
movie. Right before Lester died, he took a picture of the family that was sitting in the kitchen and
stared. He was reminiscing about how happy he was with Carolyn and Jane and starting to feel at ease.
Nostalgia makes people forget all their problems and issues for a second and makes them happy once
again just like Lester in the

The Use Of Physical Therapy Session After A Slap Surgery...
SLAP is a superior labrum tear in an anterior to posterior direction of the shoulder, affecting more than
4000 people in a year, usually men between the ages of 20 30 and 40 50. The purpose of this case
report is to show the relevance of the amount of physical therapy session after a SLAP surgery repair.
The patient was a 41 year old male kinesiology professor physically active in volleyball, weight
training, and cross fit. The patient was diagnosed to have a SLAP type II tear and micro fracture
visible on an MRI with arthrogram. Outcome measures employed were the QuickDASH for functional
disability symptoms and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to report the level of pain. Some of the
interventions used in this case were grade I/II manipulations, pendulum, AROM to associated areas,
cryotherapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, PNF exercises, and closed kinetic chain activities.
After 27 physical therapy visits post surgeries in a period of 6 months the patient reported no
perceived disability to work after 52 weeks. Although, some functional disability was experienced
when it came to general activities and sports between 4 to 13 percent based on the QuickDASH. Pain
levels reported by the VAS remained considerable low. The subject reported pain level between 0 4 on
a 10 scale; pain decreased to zero by week 10. By decreasing the number of therapy visits and
increasing the interval of time off between them, patients might be able to return to the previous level

The Use of Home Mechanical Ventilation to Manage Chronic...
Home mechanical ventilation (HMV) has been used as long term ventilation for over 70 years to
manage chronic ventilatory failure. In the United States, the first introduce of mechanical ventilation
was by the use of the iron lung which used with polio victims (Tobin, 2006). Iron lung was the only
way available that time to ventilate Poliomyelitis patients and injured army soldiers (Goldberg,
2002).In 1950s, the use of intermittent positive pressure ventilation with mouth piece have began ,and
in 1952, the use of intermittent positive pressure ventilation (SIMV) via tracheostomy was introduced
(Tobin, 2006). In France, professor Rideau had tried applying another method of mechanical
ventilation for some of his patients who were suffering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the interest had increased for the use of all types of mechanical ventilation supports
(Tobin, 2006).
Long Term Mechanical Ventilation
The concept of long term mechanical ventilation has two clinical aspects: Mandatory; which is use
during true life support and elective; which is use to manage patients with chronic ventilator failure
and sleep apnea. In mandatory base, invasive approach is the most common (Tobin, 2006). However,
home mechanical ventilation (HMV) can be delivered by either invasive or noninvasive route of
ventilation. In some centers, if the need for HMV use exceeds 16 20 hours per day, the change to
invasive mechanical ventilation will be considered. In general, the use of non invasive ventilation
(NIV) is more preferred than the use of invasive route of ventilation (M. Laub, Berg, Midgren, 2006).
Noninvasive technology is easy to be learned and to be used by the patients and the family and it
needs less professional presence on the care site, these problems could be solved now a day with the
implementation of telehealth care system which supports and monitors patients and families at home
(Goldberg, 2002).

The health sector is among the most important sectors in the United States economy. The government
has enacted certain laws that affect the corporation s activities and the insurance industry in general.
The regulation affects competition among the health insurance companies, and the insurance industry

Among the five forces of competition; existing competitive rivalry between suppliers, threat of new
market entrants, bargaining power of buyers, power of suppliers and threat of substitute products, the
most significant for UnitedHealth Group are threats for substitute products and rivalry among
competing firms. Given the fact that there are numerous healthcare insurance firms in the world; there
are also a number of substitutes for the corporation products and services. In recent years, the banking
industry has become involved in insurance activities. They provide some medical plans, which act as
substitutes to the UnitedHealth Group products. Banc assurance, otherwise known as the bank

arrangement in which a bank and an insurance company form a partnership so that the insurance

Compare the relationship between Virgil and Dante in Inferno with Sigmund Freud s discussion of the
conscience or super ego in Civilization and Its Discontents. How does Freud explain and characterize
the relationship between super ego and ego in the individual? Cite examples of the interaction between
Virgil and Dante and compare closely with Freud s discussion of the psychical agencies, super ego and

However, According to Freud, the super ego exists as a way to level out the ego, and, in a way, keep it
in check. Therefore, the super ego is responsible for an individual s conscience, or, their ability to feel
guilt. Freud continues his explanation of these concepts by asserting the idea that the super ego calls
our attention to our own failures and misconducts, and attempts to assist us in learning from them in
order to avoid making similar mistakes in the future. Furthermore, the conscience is the form in which
the super ego controls our actions and thoughts, and creates guilt within us. Therefore, the ego is the
decision making, acting part of an individual, while the super ego acts as the ego s voice of authority
and control (Freud).
Moreover, the relationship between the characters of Dante and Virgil in Dante s Inferno stands as an
excellent example of the relationship between the ego and the super ego. In the opening of the poem,
the character of Dante finds himself lost in a place he does not know, surrounded by terrifying beasts.
In this dark moment, Virgil, a ghost from an earlier time, comes forwards and reveals to Dante that,
because sin has obstructed his path to God, he must journey through hell and purgatory in order to
return to life, as he once knew it. This journey, according to Virgil, would allow Dante to overcome
his sin and, at last, find God s love. However, Dante does not believe he can complete the journey
alone, at which point Virgil

The Yellow Wallpaper as a Guide To Insanity and Madness
The Yellow Wallpaper as a Guide To Insanity
There comes John, and I must put this away he hates to have me write a word (p659). As evident by
the above quote, Gilman places the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper as secluded as she could be; she
is placed in a large house, surrounded only by her husband and by little help (Jennie), when it is
unfortunately clear that her relationship with her husband is based on distance and misunderstanding:
It is so hard to talk with John about my case, because he is so wise, and because he loves me so (p
663). Gilman further confines her narrator as it becomes clear that the poor soul has absolutely no one
to talk to; that is, no one who can understand her. The narrator is cornered by her ... Show more

Any other perspective that she could have reached (such as her husband or hired help) is biased from
the core! That is, biased from the narrator s point of view. In some cases of mental illness the subject
questions its own reality, yet the narrator is positively sure about her own.
The narrator does not even waste her time on trying to get a second or third opinion. She knows what
she sees, and she sees a woman figure behind the horrific wallpaper.
Her tone is rather calm for such a discovery, and that is the second aspect of her tone; she is fully
comfortable with her imaginary world; far more comfortable than she is in her real world.
Throughout the story, Gilman holds us attentive and sympathetic due to the specific positioning of the
narrator; the narrator confides in us and us alone. The whole story is told as journal entries and
personal thoughts. In reading the journal entries we fell privileged and intimate. Yet it is the personal
thoughts that actually hold us captive in the realm of lunacy, a literal invitation into an insane mind in
which we have no other option rather than actually seeing the twisted world that she sees, through her
own eyes.
To further establish the role of the narrator, we must now clarify the meaning of the story. The latter
objective becomes easily feasible, for Gilman s Why I Wrote The Yellow Wallpaper leaves little place
for argument. It was not intended

Perhaps the most famous of all his mind games was his Watch tapping technique. He used this

Types Of Thinking From Point Of Reference And Relationship
Regimens from point of reference and relationship are two focal types of thinking found in numerous
legitimate frameworks, particularly CommonLaw frameworks, for example, those in England and the
United States. Point of reference includes a prior choice being followed in a later case in light of the
fact that both cases are the same. Relationship includes a prior choice being followed in a later case on
the grounds that the later case is like the prior one. Contentions from point of reference and
relationship are normal for legitimate thinking. Lawful thinking contrasts in various routes from the
kind of thinking apply by people in their ordinary lives. It much of the time apply contentions that
people don t apply or that people apply in diverse ways. Point of reference is a decent sample of this.
In individual thinking we don t regularly respect the way that we chose one path in the past as raising
some assumption that we ought to choose the same route later on. Obviously there can be exceptional
circumstances that have this impact 2somebody may have depended on what we did some time
recently, or may have had their desires raised that we would do as such once more yet missing these
unique contemplations we don t view ourselves as being submitted later on to settle on the same
choice. It is constantly open to us to rethink a choice and alter our opinions on the off chance that we
no more think our unique judgment was right. Law obviously is not the only one in

Marketing Principles Of International Marketing
From this course, I learned plenty of international marketing principles and knew that international
environments are quite different from countries to countries. Each market you enter is different, and
what works in one country or region will not work in another. As technology creates leaps in
communication and transportation, the world continues to feel smaller and smaller. It is not that hard
for companies and consumers to conduct business in almost any country around the world thanks to
advances in international trade, and no doubt, the world is tending to be more international, diverse
and muti cultural in multiple ways. In most factors that influenced international marketing, culture has
a great impact on it. A marketer always has to study about the local culture in depth before offering a
product to them, and I think that well understanding of a country s culture is really essential for
international marketing. First of all, to have an effective communication one must send the message
according to the receiver s culture, customs and learning process. There are some major barriers by
which effective communication can be hampered. For example, companies have to be aware of what
their brand name will be when it is translated in another language. Since sometimes when a company
renames their brand in foreign country, it might totally change meaning of its original meaning. It will
be embarrassing if the new name delivers wrong message that company does not

Discovery Of The Nazi Death Camps
Discovery of the Nazi death camps at the end of World War II sent shockwaves throughout the entire
world and brought to question how civilized humans could participate in the atrocity of what is now
known as the Holocaust. Although from the beginning, it was clear Nazi s believed Jews and other
races were inferior to the Aryan race, the idea of genocide was not their original intent. How then were
German soldiers able to exterminate Jews without question? Christopher Browning in his book
Ordinary Men dives into the human psyche to try and recreate the possibilities in which the German
soldier were able to carry out these horrifying acts. Easiest of Browning possibilities to understand
why the Germans were capable of these terrible acts are the fundamentals of a race war. Initialized by
seeing a fellow comrade falling to the onslaught of the enemy and engulfing them with hate, thus
allowing the killing of a certain race without empathy for their actions. However, how could this
mentality be contributed to the Reserve Police Battalions when they had never encountered combat?
Early on in the war [they] felt the need to provide justification. They were shot, he explained, because
they had been encountered without the Jewish star during roundup... (Browning 16) justification
described as that is not from men feeling racial hate toward the Jews. These men were not completely
morally certain of their actions and in order to justify it in their heads created shaky logic as to

Hills Like White Elephants Character Analysis
How does the way people portray themselves reveal more about them and the life they live? Paying
close attention to the emotions of a character and their actions can allow for more comprehension. The
use of characterization within the story Hills Like White Elephants aids the reader to further
understand the persona of an individual. In return, this allows the reader to understand them on a
deeper level with a powerful connection. Without characterization, it would be difficult for the
individual reading to form a bond with the man and the girl because they wouldn t truly understand
what they re going through. In Hills Like White Elephants , by Ernest Hemingway, the American s
dialogue, the way the girl converses and where their eyes wander give insight on how the man and the
girl have communication difficulties.
Throughout the story, it s made evident through dialogue that the man has a strong need to assert his
dominance which damages his relationship with the girl. Firstly, the man appears to have total control
within their relationship, even with uncomplicated factors. When they order drinks, the man says, Let
s drink beer. , and he simply orders them following this statement. The girl can easily make this
straightforward decision herself, but the man feels the need to take complete control. Also, when it
comes to crucial life matters, the American still asserts his dominance. The need for the man to have
control when it comes to important matters is seen when

Conformity And Exclusion In Los Cachorros
Many of Mario Vargas Llosa s younger literary publications were laced with Marxist critiques of a
transitioning Latin American society in the 20th century, and though on the surface, Los Cachorros
may seem little more than a fictional coming of age narrative, the allegorical short story is no
exception. Told through an encyclopaedic tour of Lima s urban spaces, a pack of boys transition into
young men and their interactions with the city reflect both the rigidity and fragmentation of the
Peruvian community as a whole. With particular reference to chapter five, this essay will explore the
cities implicit influence on the characters fulfilment of heteronomous social identities, and Vargas
Llosa a use of specific literary devices to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Continuing in the theme of conformity; if the boys are united by their heteronomy, Cuellar s
castration, in contrast, is the source of his ostracism. His unfortunate accident is a wound that time
opens instead of closes , and as the story progresses, Vargas Llosa juxtaposes the boys socially
inclusive youthful pastimes of football and studying mentioned earlier in the novel with his
comparatively solitary penchant for the ocean and surfing a puro pecho o con colchón (94) in chapter
five. In this passage, his distance from the others is symbolised by the isolation of the sea; the narrator
says the water se lo tragó (95) and later, the boys state that se perdió (96). Clearly, Cuellar s failure to
partake in the testosterone fuelled rituals of sexual maturity in the city has seen him shunned from the
rest of the boys and resigned to hanging out with rosquetes, cafichos y pichicateros (96) instead the

Strategy Analysis of America Online Inc.
Prior to 1995, AOL was very successful in the commercial online industry relative to its competitors
CompuServe and Prodigy primarily because of its pricing rate structure which was the easiest for
customers to understand and plan for ahead of time. CompuServe and Prodigy offered the same
pricing as AOL for its standard service, but, charged additional fees for premium services and
downloading which made it more difficult for customers to anticipate their monthly spending.
The key changes taking place in the online industry in 1995 are the introduction of the Microsoft

If subscriber acquisition costs are written off (expensed) instead of being capitalized, the value of the
asset created by this cost will not show up on the balance sheet as part of the total assets of the firm.
This, in turn, creates ripple effects for the measurement of capital and profitability ratios for the firm.
The balance sheet would show a reduction in the amount of assets by $130,473 million (See Appendix
C.1). The profitability ratios (ROE, ROA and ROC) are much better when the costs are capitalized
(See Appendix C.2).
Expensing subscriber acquisition costs increases expenses in the income statement by $51,467 million
and causes the operating income and net income to be much lower than if they were capitalized. The
operating income and net income consists of loss of $19,294 million and $33,647 respectively in the
case of capitalization versus a loss of $70,131 million and $84,484 respectively in the case of

differential tax benefit between the two approaches is $17,285 million (See Appendix C.3).

Animated Short Movie Essay 2000 words Discussing how technical and artistic achievements are

Throughout the entire animation film, there is no direct expectation of what is happening. Daffy and
the anonymous animator have this very lucrative but interesting interaction between one another that
is hard to distinguish. Even though Daffy is the only character on screen and that his reactions are
what make the comedy possible, the animator persistently changes creative perspective. At one stage,
the animator draws Daffy with a guitar, we then expect to hear the guitar playing. But at first, no
sound is heard when he strikes a chord. Daffy then holds up a sign asking Sound please , shortly after,
we hear a variation of distant sounds that start again, whenever he plays a chord. At first, with a
machine gun, then a horn and finally the sound of a donkey when Daffy strikes the guitar into the
ground in frustration. To make matters worse, the animator goes on to take away Daffy s voice when
he comes back on screen after clearing away the guitar. His voice, now replaced with animal sounds
that Daffy gets embarrassed and distraught over. It is fantastic to see artistic variation between form,
prop and even an anonymous force, but all of this could not compliment each other without the sound
to intensify the moment. (Understanding Animation page 40

Two State Solution Essay
The Israeli Palestinian issue has been an ongoing conflict since 1917. This conflict started right after
the Holocaust as a huge number of Jews fled to Palestine. Later on, the Israeli forces almost occupied
the whole land over the years. Currently, the Palestinians own about 11 15% of the land, while Israelis
own the rest of the land (Farah 40). As of today, there are about five million Palestinian refugees in
foreign camps and they are unable to return (Farah 40). Not only the Israeli forces occupied the land

Palestinians and an area for the Israelis. The two state solution would guarantee Palestinians an
independent state and would also allow them to gain their full human rights (Francis). The two state
solution has been planned since decades but it is not being applied because it is not gaining enough
support from powerful countries such as United States (Talhami 468). Powerful countries which are
members of the United Nations, like USA, UK, China and Russia would have a huge influence on the

Dieting and exercising with weights is generally good for people, but they may not see the results they

efforts.
BCAAs can help reverse this situation by reducing or slowing down the rate of proteins breaking

and its effects may be stronger than regular protein on its own. BCAAs may also help people to
workout for longer periods of time with more intensity by inhibiting the amino acid tryptophan from

Who Should Take BCAA Supplements?
Adults who are healthy, perform light to moderate exercise several times a week, and have a diet that

Children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and people dealing with chronic alcoholism should only

Archetypal Patterns In Little Miss Sunshine And As I Lay...
Characters in stories follow archetypal patterns, whether it is something as simple as hero vs. villain,
or something more elaborate like a scapegoat or a rake. In the movie Little Miss Sunshine we follow
the Hoover family on their quest to fulfill self motivated goals, similar to that of the novel As I Lay
Dying by William Faulkner. In the novel, Faulkner sets up the premise for one of the most widely
accepted journey plots in literature, and the archetypal themes are carried over into the movie Little
Miss Sunshine. There are many parallels between the novel and the movie, including the more

With a primary goal in mind, they must reach California in order for Olive to compete in the pageant
similar to the goal set in mind of the Bundrens (Arndt). Using the model that As I Lay Dying puts for
the journey archetype, Little Miss Sunshine follows a similar flow of journey, obstacle, and repeat.
The first real obstacle that the Hoovers encounter is their car breaking down. Similar to the loss of the
wagon that the Bundrens suffered at the river, their means of transportation is sabotaged. While the
Hoover s solution was much simpler, just having to push [the car] up to ten, fifteen miles an hour to
get the transmission into gear, the obstacle that was placed in front of them was still big enough to
cause them a delay on their time sensitive quest (Arndt). The modern idea of poverty is also another
big obstacle that the Hoovers must overcome. Coming from a lower class family, their car breaks
down; they don t have any insurance, and are unable to take care of grandpa after he passes away.
Having to resort to drastic measures, most of their decisions aren t thought through very carefully and
are instead sporadic and on the spot. Being virtually broke, Richard has to juggle his personal and
professional life, teaching twenty students in a classroom that could seat two hundred (Arndt). Life

Current Trends Of Data Mining
Current Trends in Data Mining
Sardor Khodjaev
I. INTRODUCTION
Data itself is useless, until it is mined and transformed into a valuable source of knowledge discovery.
Due to its conversion into useful information, data mining has become the leading source being used
in many fields worldwide. Data mining is based on complex algorithms that allow for the
segmentation of data to identify patterns and trends, detect anomalies, and predict the probability of
various situational outcomes. [1] Many organizations from healthcare to multimedia and more are
relaying on data and getting developed through the use of it. Regardless of how, data warehouse
changed its rhythm and dimension in terms of measurements such as: variety, volume and velocity.
Today, one can see the current trends of data mining in different fields such as social networks,
healthcare and businesses. As data mining is giving the opportunity for those fields to get advanced,
Big Data is also opening up new doors within itself as the new trends emerge.
However, Big Data suggests something more than just an analysis of huge volumes of information.
The problem is not that the organizations create high volume of data, but the fact that most of them are
presented in a format consisting with traditionally poor structured form of database such as: a web
based magazines, images, videos, text documents, machine code and geospatial data . All of these are

Theme Of The Poem 1958 By Gwendolyn Mcewen
In the poem 1958, Gwendolyn MacEwen describes the high school environment as it would have been
in the late 1950 s. Popular fads among the teenagers during this era are explored in detail. The
prevailing theme throughout the text pertains to the idea of belonging. The poem focuses primarily on
the desire teenagers have to fit in. Throughout this response I will explore the ways in which this
poem differs and relates to the high school environment today. Secondly I will analyze the connections
between this poem and a modern day movie. Lastly, I will express the ways in which my personal
experiences relate to the central message in the poem. Several elements of the high school
environment during the late 1950 s still exist today. The author mentions that, those guys spoke in
crazy cryptic monosyllables . This statement is still relevant today; however teenage boys now speak
in a form of speech referred to as gangster slang . Typical words include sup or peace which are used
to express phrases such as how are you? or see you later. In the poem McEwen says that, those girls
said nothing and were mean and cracked gum . Mean girls still continue to grace the school hallways
glaring at those more vulnerable. These girls tend to be the masterminds behind vicious rumours that
spread like wildfire throughout the school. McEwen mentions that the boys learned shop and the girls
sewed shaky seams in the dresses they would never wear. This statement

Now at the age of ten, Mozart was an experienced professional musician.
At the age of twelve, his first opera was produced, Bastien und Bastienne. Another opera followed a
year later, La Finta Semplice. He was soon considered to be a successful composer by the public, but
he had not had a steady job in place providing financial security.
In 1770, he received employment in the court of Archbishop Hieronymous of Salzburg. The ten years
in this position proved to be very unhappy for Mozart. He was subject to the whims of the Archbishop
who treated him harsh, but for whom he was expected to perform amazingly at private concerts.
He always felt frustrated by the lack of appreciation for his talents as well as always being underpaid.
When he did have money, he lived recklessly, and never saved for times of need. He ended up having
to beg for favors from nobility or to give lessons to untalented students, but for a position which
would free him from his financial worries and allow him to compose as he wished.

The Symbol of the Tower of London
Ever since its creation by Gundolf in 1078, the Tower of London has served many purposes. Whether
it was a royal residence or prison and torture chamber, most importantly, it has been a significant
symbol and monument of English history and architecture. A small, modest building, many tourists are
surprised to see the Tower of London, as it is not the magnificent, tall tower they were expecting. For
some years, the Tower of London was used as a royal residence where monarchs would stay for a
night before departing to continue their journey the next day. More interestingly, it was used as a
prison, torture chamber, and execution grounds.
Although, from the outside, the Tower of London is not very lavish when compared with the majestic,
grand, and intricate buildings in England, it was once a desired place for royals to stay whether for one
night or longer. During the time it was used as a royal residence, it was referred to as The White
Tower, and was quite an alluring place. The Tower of London (or The White Tower) consisted of
several buildings surrounded by a wall and mote. Later on after the construction was completed,
Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, and Henry VIII enlarged the complex.
Colorful, pretty, and comfortable, the Tower of London during its time as a royal residence contained

through open market operations where they auction repo transactions by volume tender or by variable

changing the interest rate conditions and the price formation in Switzerland s money market by
making offers in the electronic market. This can help stabilize money market rates in the short term
(Monetary Policy Instruments).
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) is maintaining its expansionary monetary policy. Interest on sight
deposits at the SNB is to remain at 0.75%. The Swiss National Bank will remain active in the foreign
exchange market as necessary. The SNB s expansionary monetary policy is aimed at stabilizing price
developments and supporting economic activity. The Swiss franc continues to be significantly
overvalued. The negative interest rate and the SNB s willingness to intervene in the foreign exchange
market are intended to make Swiss franc investments less attractive, thereby easing pressure on the
currency. The negative interest rate is suppose to induce investors to not buy investments so the Swiss
currency stabilizes (Monetary Policy Assessment of 16 March 2017).

Rose Lilywhite Case Study
I have reviewed and summarized the provided medical records for Rose Lilywhite. I did find
inconsistencies concerning different accident dates, however, those can be explained by a simple
typing error. Additionally, I located other discrepancies scattered throughout the medical records. My
concerns and comments are outlined below. 1. Dr. Larry Swan mentions Greater Valley Clinic charts
as a source of information. We do not have those records. Greater Valley Clinic, March 15, 2005, page
32 2. During the appointment with Dr. Swan, Rose states her head had hit the windshield twice. This
is the first, and only time hitting the windshield twice had been mentioned. Greater Valley Clinic,

therapy entries are on odd numbered visits only. Sunshine Therapy Associates, February March 2005,
pages 51 61 13. Rose asked Dr. Turnblad if her injuries were permanent. He told her from how much
time has passed and her physical findings, there is permanency to her injuries. Turnblad Spine Clinic,
January 11, 2006, page 69 14. Dr. Turnblad prescribed Rose Ultram on January 11, 2006. There is no
mention of this medication when she had provided you her medications. Turnblad Spine Clinic,
January 11,2006, page 69 Rose has made statements that are not entirely true when speaking with her
treating physicians. Whether is was purely accidental on her part because she didn t fully understand
her diagnosis, or if she was trying to be deceptive, but either way that could be very disastrous for her
case. Consequently, Rose does not look like a very reliable source, and I fear the jury will not believe
her. The missing medical records may answer some of the unanswered questions, in conjunction with
the original intake records for Fontaine. There were notes written on a document from Fontaine

Carl Jung And Alfred Adler
On May 6, 1856 one of the world s most influential theorist was born, Sigmund Freud. During his
childhood and adolescence years, his scholastic performance stood out. He graduated high school with
honors, and set out to study medicine at Vienna University. While studying medicine, he was
introduced to Ernest Von Bruke, who worked at the university as a physiology professor . Bruke
assisted Freud in obtaining a grant to study with a psychiatrist, by the name of Jean Martin Charcot. In
1881 Sigmund Freud finally earned his doctoral degree in medicine. In 1902, Freud began working as

His development of the General Systems Theory was due to him believing human experiences, along
with social and scientific problems could be thought of, in terms of systems. According to Francis
Turner in the 4th edition of Social Work Treatment, Bertalanffy s goal was to achieve a common
perspective and clear view of the world as a great organization , where all disciplines could be
understood in their place (Turner, 1996, p.604). During his professional career Von Bertalanffy
worked in Vienna, London, Canada and the USA, as a professor at local universities (Ludwig Von
Bertalantffy, n.d.). His life came to an end at the age of 70, in June 1972 in New York (Turner, 1996,
p.604).
Tenants of Psychodynamic and Systems Theory
Systems theory was proposed in the 1940s by the biologist Ludwig von Bertalanffy (General Systems
Theory, 1968). Systems theory describes human behavior in terms of complex systems. It is premised
on the idea that an effective system is based on individual needs, rewards, expectations, and attributes
of the people living in the system. According to this theory, families, couples, and organizations
members are directly involved in resolving a problem even if it is an individual issue. System theories
emphasizes reciprocal relationships between the elements that constitute a whole. These concepts also
emphasize the relationships among individuals, groups, organizations, or communities and mutually

Reflection Project Reflection
Wow, it has to be said that it is unbelievable that this is already the fourth week in this course. Time
has gone by so quick, but so much has also been learned in this short time. Although I will sound like
a broken record, I try to pride myself on not only taking a challenge and preserving through it, but also
incorporating new things learned. At the time, things might seem difficult and habits hard to replace,
but I have truly grown to have a new found appreciation to what this course has taught me. I might not
utilize every concept in each thing that I do, but I will definitely have a different perspective on how
something can be done. Week four really tied the previous weeks together and it became clearer the
purpose for going through this process, I can also have a new appreciation of how this process would
be beneficial in a project that is much larger and detailed. With that being said, although this project is
not as in depth as I am sure something such as, a dissertation might be I can see the benefit of even
just the simple things such as making something too wordy and also still some challenges that seem to
haunt me like just the right thesis statement.
New perspectives for me this week was really that of the simple process of attempting not to be so
wordy. Clearly, I have not perfected this process and I have a lot to practice, but the fact that it was
brought to light was a great beginning. I know that I have a tendency to be too wordy, I think that part
of this is due to the fact that for one I overthink, but also because we learn to think outside the box and
utilize words that sound more collegiate or intellectual (I guess). I think I get so bogged down in
terminology sometimes that I need to take a step back and acknowledge that it is okay to use the word
college for example, instead of higher education . I loved the examples that our text book gave about
how to change a phrase such as, saying an actual color followed by the explanation that it is a color
(Cole Law, 2013). Also the passive and active tones that our writing can take. These are honestly some
new perspectives that I will try to retain and work on.
Then of course is the challenge, my thesis statement. I just cannot seem

The Patent Law Of Taiwan
This thesis is to address the possibility of adapting the patent law in Taiwan, compared with what is
done in India. These adjustments utilize the so called TRIPS flexibilities embodied in the TRIPS
Agreement (The Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights), as Annex 1C of
the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (hereinafter the WTO) which
came into effect in January, 1995. As a trade off between promoting knowledge diffusion and
exclusivity to use the knowledge, the patent system is part of the minimum standard established in the
course of the globalization of intellectual property right (IPR). The formation of TRIPS also
demonstrates that the strength of private sector and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the root of the intellectual property rights inevitably goes to the inherent public goods
analysis, favoring partially the inventor s power of control will become a burden for users and
competitors. Excessive protection may ultimately reduce competition barrier and weaken the power of
the national innovation. If developing countries can render their laws to curve it to the pro competitive
strategy, and this would allow the technology free rider countries to become fair followers, as
Professor Reichman indicates. In this way, developing countries can make use of TRIPS flexibilities,
because wiggle room in fact exists in the TRIPS Agreement. For example, Brazil employs this idea in
constructing its compulsory license requirements in its copyright law; South Africa adopted a more
stringent patent protection than the TRIPS Agreement demands while incorporated a safeguard clause
to facilitate the use of essential drugs. Another good example of employing TRIPS flexibilities is the
patent law of India. Before the TRIPS Agreement was negotiated, India s patent law did not regard
pharmaceutical chemicals as subject matter of protection and India consequentially became one of
world s top generic drug producers. However, in order to comply with

Essay On Yellow Journalism
Yellow journalism was a major issue in the late 1890s during the Spanish American War. The purpose
of yellow journalism is to use headlines and report sensational events that draws the attention of the
audience in order to sell more newspapers, even if the facts used were not legitimate. Yellow
journalism came to an end with the development of objective journalism, which reports facts that are
not biased. With the rise of social media, yellow journalism and fake news are making a comeback
and becoming a norm in modern society. The rise of social media is contributing to the amount of
yellow journalism and fake news that is occurring, which is ultimately leading to party polarization.

Objective journalism originated in response to yellow journalism. Objective journalism is reporting
facts rather than opinions and presents both sides of the partisan debate. Objective journalism became
the new norm of society and ultimately eliminated most of yellow journalism. With the development
of cable television and FM radio, the news began to take a more partisan role and led to the increase of
party polarization, which is the further divide between Republicans and Democrats. With the rise of
social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, the creation of fake news is becoming imminent. Today,
news organizations are using the tactics of yellow journalism in politics to gain the attention of the
audience and provide false facts that produce a major response from the viewers. Ideas and
propaganda material are able to spread faster and to a wider range of people through social media.
Much of this material is fake news that usually discredits one of the political parties, Republicans or
Democrats. With the wide spread of this negativity toward one party, the opposing party strengthens
its ideals and ultimately leads to increased party polarization. The journal, Correlating Political
Polarization and Spread of Misinformation, by Manoel Horta Ribeiro, claims that social media is
contributing to an increase in party polarization due to the increasing

The Disaster Of Nuclear Generating Station Essay
Abstract:
In the early morning hours of 28th March 1979, the worst disaster in the history of nuclear energy
production in the US took place. Unit Two of the Three Mile Island had a meltdown releasing some
amount of radioactivity into the surrounding area. The meltdown led to the possibility of Unit 2 of the
reactor facility to explode. The ramifications of the accident revealed the conceptual difficulties of
assessing social risks and the political difficulties in managing them (Nelkin, March 1981).This paper
aims at describing the accident, the post accident setup and clean up and the various losses which have
been attributed to the disaster. It also intends to develop an understanding of the various complex
issues and social vulnerabilities and risks that caused the disaster. The paper raises a very important
question about the safety of the nuclear power plants in the world and the risk the reactors pose to the
people and environment as a whole.
Introduction:
The Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station (TMI) is located in the Susquehanna River flowing
in the south of Harrisburg Town in the state of Pennsylvania, U.S. The generating station comprises of
two generating units TMI 1 and TMI 2. TMI 1 has a generating capacity of 852 MWe and the
commercial operation began in 1974.
Unit Two of the Three Mile Island Generating Station was similar in construction to Unit One. It was
of a slightly higher capacity than Unit One and the generating capacity was 906 MWe. The

Teach-Back Nursing Research
Patients are struggling with their discharge plans, unable to manage their care as evidenced by
complications reported after discharge (McBride Andrews, 2013; Kangovi et al., 2012). Postoperative
complications may be related to the nurse s inability to assess a patient s comprehension of discharge
instructions accurately (Ashbrook Sehgal, 2012; Fredericks, 2010). Nurses as part of the healthcare
team are responsible for effectively preparing patients for the transition to self care in the home
setting. Opportunities for practice improvement exist as nurses perform this important task. Teaching

How Schools Have Increased Security Across America
According to an article, at Julius West Middle School in Rockville, Maryland, all the doors are locked
in the morning after the bell rings. Students who arrive late must push a buzzer button on the door, and
they are video recorded as the student speaks into an intercom, so that they may enter the school. This
is just one example of how schools have increased security across America. In Prince George County,
school leaders are spending about $9.3 million for school security improvements, such as buzzers,
cameras, panic buttons, fences, and security guard uniforms. In Loudoun County, schools are focusing
on awareness and training. They want everyone to be involved in making schools safely secure.
Security emphasis increased after the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Connecticut. It launched a
new wave of concerns about how schools should protect children. With many districts responding by
adding new procedures, equipment, or personnel. Many of these efforts by the schools were funded by
state or federal grants. Experts say schools are one of the safest places for a child, and that security
upgrades should be done by factual assessments, not by fear. Parents and teachers say they appreciate
the new controls, and feel a better sense of security. An executive director of Safe Havens
International named Michael Dorn, who works with schools on security issues, says schools across the
country and around the world have been increasing security over the past years. In Washington,

Romeo And Juliet Vs Pyramus And Hebe
Romeo and Juliet VS. Pyramus and Thisbe Compare and Contrast Essay It is not too often that we
find a story about two teenagers in love taking their own lives. It is even less common to find two
stories of in love teenagers taking their own lives. The story of Pyramus and Thisbe, written by Ovid,
and Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, are almost mirror images. These stories are
different yet, have the similar events, similar difficulty getting to each other, and the same tragic
misunderstanding that led to a miserable end. These two stories should be considered the twins of
literature. Romeo and Juliet. They had met at a party and spoke to one another through a window,
contrary to the other story, proceeding to marry hours later. Star crossed lovers fighting to be together,
literally. Romeo killed the cousin of his wife, which resulted in banishment and being further away
from Juliet. They already lived on opposite sides of their city, Verona, and now Romeo was exiled

They grew up in a city named Babylon, and lived near one another, unlike Romeo and Juliet. In fact,
they lived so close to each other that their homes shared a common wall. This wall was their only
form of communication. Going against their parents wishes, they approached a tomb to meet by.
Thisbe was awaiting her love when a bloody mouthed lion lurked upon the area. She fled and dropped
her cloak, which the lion proceeded to tear up. When Pyramus arrived he killed himself at the sight of
the bloody remains of Thisbe. Before him lay the bloodstain shreds of the cloak and clear in the dust
were the tracks of the lioness. The conclusion was inevitable (Ovid 488). Unlike Romeo, Pyramus
used his sword to commit suicide. The storylines of the two are similar. However, where they lived,
and how the boys killed themselves were different. Finally the cause of both teen deaths was at the
fault of two completely unrelated

  • 3. Helicopter Parent Research Paper College is typically the prime of a young adult s life, it s where students get their first taste of freedom and have a newfound independence and although this is what most teenagers so strongly desire, there are some who do not know how to properly handle the world alone. These people are those with helicopter parents. Helicopter parents are parents who, like their nickname, are always hovering over their children to protect them and make sure all their needs are being met. These parents usually go far beyond just being an attentive parent, so much so that they fully involve themselves in the lives of their child, making it their duty for their child to succeed in any way possible. Helicopter parenting also appears to be on the rise and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most research evidence is supporting the idea that helicopter parenting is harmful. It s clear that there has been changes in recent years with students and the common factor happens to be helicopter parenting. Mothers and fathers are their raising children that have had their abilities and self assurance stripped away to be held by them. Being loving and supportive is also not enough to help reverse the damage done by the smothering involvement so, no matter how helicopter parents go about managing their children, they re still managing their children. The only way to solve this problem is for parents to learn how to let go and find other ways to engage with their child without controlling them, they must put their trust in them and believe that the young adult they raised is as talented and gifted enough of a person as they believe them to ... • 4. Nostalgia And Loss In American Beauty When watching movies, various life lessons or themes can be picked up on that are scattered throughout the films in subtle ways. Some messages can be picked up instantly while other messages will make you sit back and think just a bit harder. American Beauty was a film released in 1999 that was filled with numerous interpretations of which themes can be accounted for. Nostalgia and loss, and issues with obsession are two themes or issues that stood out when watching the film for the first time. American Beauty is a drama film directed by Sam Mendes. The film follows sympathetic lead character, Lester as he lives his boring, mundane life. Lester seems to have the picture perfect life on the surface of things but that isn t always the case. Lester is an advertising executive and magazine writer who eventually ends up despising his job. His wife, Carolyn, is a career driven real estate broker who becomes more obsessed with ... One scene during the film Carolyn returns home to find Lester goofing off with a remote control car. Lester precedes to complement Carolyn and seduce her and talk about fond memories that they have together. He questions what happened to the girl that would run out on the roof and flash traffic helicopters and fake seizures. This is just once example of Lester being nostalgic and remembering how life use to be. Another example of nostalgia within American Beauty in the ending scene of the movie. Right before Lester died, he took a picture of the family that was sitting in the kitchen and stared. He was reminiscing about how happy he was with Carolyn and Jane and starting to feel at ease. Nostalgia makes people forget all their problems and issues for a second and makes them happy once again just like Lester in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

SLAP is a superior labrum tear in an anterior to posterior direction of the shoulder, affecting more than 4000 people in a year, usually men between the ages of 20 30 and 40 50. The purpose of this case report is to show the relevance of the amount of physical therapy session after a SLAP surgery repair. The patient was a 41 year old male kinesiology professor physically active in volleyball, weight training, and cross fit. The patient was diagnosed to have a SLAP type II tear and micro fracture visible on an MRI with arthrogram. Outcome measures employed were the QuickDASH for functional disability symptoms and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to report the level of pain. Some of the interventions used in this case were grade I/II manipulations, pendulum, AROM to associated areas, cryotherapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, PNF exercises, and closed kinetic chain activities. After 27 physical therapy visits post surgeries in a period of 6 months the patient reported no perceived disability to work after 52 weeks. Long Term Mechanical Ventilation The concept of long term mechanical ventilation has two clinical aspects: Mandatory; which is use during true life support and elective; which is use to manage patients with chronic ventilator failure and sleep apnea. In mandatory base, invasive approach is the most common (Tobin, 2006). However, home mechanical ventilation (HMV) can be delivered by either invasive or noninvasive route of ventilation. In some centers, if the need for HMV use exceeds 16 20 hours per day, the change to invasive mechanical ventilation will be considered. In general, the use of non invasive ventilation (NIV) is more preferred than the use of invasive route of ventilation (M. Laub, Berg, Midgren, 2006). Noninvasive technology is easy to be learned and to be used by the patients and the family and it needs less professional presence on the care site, these problems could be solved now a day with the implementation of telehealth care system which supports and monitors patients and families at home (Goldberg, 2002). • 9. Ego and Super Ego in Dante s Inferno Essay Catherine Craven GHUM200, Tu/Th 12:25 October 23rd, 2012 Compare the relationship between Virgil and Dante in Inferno with Sigmund Freud s discussion of the conscience or super ego in Civilization and Its Discontents. How does Freud explain and characterize the relationship between super ego and ego in the individual? Cite examples of the interaction between Virgil and Dante and compare closely with Freud s discussion of the psychical agencies, super ego and ego: To what extent does the dynamic between Virgil and Dante illustrate the same pattern or features? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, According to Freud, the super ego exists as a way to level out the ego, and, in a way, keep it in check. Therefore, the super ego is responsible for an individual s conscience, or, their ability to feel guilt. Freud continues his explanation of these concepts by asserting the idea that the super ego calls our attention to our own failures and misconducts, and attempts to assist us in learning from them in order to avoid making similar mistakes in the future. Furthermore, the conscience is the form in which the super ego controls our actions and thoughts, and creates guilt within us. Therefore, the ego is the decision making, acting part of an individual, while the super ego acts as the ego s voice of authority and control (Freud). Moreover, the relationship between the characters of Dante and Virgil in Dante s Inferno stands as an excellent example of the relationship between the ego and the super ego. In the opening of the poem, the character of Dante finds himself lost in a place he does not know, surrounded by terrifying beasts. In this dark moment, Virgil, a ghost from an earlier time, comes forwards and reveals to Dante that, because sin has obstructed his path to God, he must journey through hell and purgatory in order to return to life, as he once knew it. This journey, according to Virgil, would allow Dante to overcome his sin and, at last, find God s love. However, Dante does not believe he can complete the journey alone, at which point Virgil ... As evident by the above quote, Gilman places the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper as secluded as she could be; she is placed in a large house, surrounded only by her husband and by little help (Jennie), when it is unfortunately clear that her relationship with her husband is based on distance and misunderstanding: It is so hard to talk with John about my case, because he is so wise, and because he loves me so (p 663). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any other perspective that she could have reached (such as her husband or hired help) is biased from the core! That is, biased from the narrator s point of view. In some cases of mental illness the subject questions its own reality, yet the narrator is positively sure about her own. The narrator does not even waste her time on trying to get a second or third opinion. She knows what she sees, and she sees a woman figure behind the horrific wallpaper. Her tone is rather calm for such a discovery, and that is the second aspect of her tone; she is fully comfortable with her imaginary world; far more comfortable than she is in her real world. Throughout the story, Gilman holds us attentive and sympathetic due to the specific positioning of the narrator; the narrator confides in us and us alone. The whole story is told as journal entries and personal thoughts. In reading the journal entries we fell privileged and intimate. Yet it is the personal thoughts that actually hold us captive in the realm of lunacy, a literal invitation into an insane mind in which we have no other option rather than actually seeing the twisted world that she sees, through her own eyes. To further establish the role of the narrator, we must now clarify the meaning of the story. The latter objective becomes easily feasible, for Gilman s Why I Wrote The Yellow Wallpaper leaves little place for argument. It was not intended ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Types Of Thinking From Point Of Reference And Relationship Regimens from point of reference and relationship are two focal types of thinking found in numerous legitimate frameworks, particularly CommonLaw frameworks, for example, those in England and the United States. Point of reference includes a prior choice being followed in a later case in light of the fact that both cases are the same. Relationship includes a prior choice being followed in a later case on the grounds that the later case is like the prior one. Contentions from point of reference and relationship are normal for legitimate thinking. Lawful thinking contrasts in various routes from the kind of thinking apply by people in their ordinary lives. • 17. Marketing Principles Of International Marketing From this course, I learned plenty of international marketing principles and knew that international environments are quite different from countries to countries. Each market you enter is different, and what works in one country or region will not work in another. As technology creates leaps in communication and transportation, the world continues to feel smaller and smaller. It is not that hard for companies and consumers to conduct business in almost any country around the world thanks to advances in international trade, and no doubt, the world is tending to be more international, diverse and muti cultural in multiple ways. In most factors that influenced international marketing, culture has a great impact on it. A marketer always has to study about the local culture in depth before offering a product to them, and I think that well understanding of a country s culture is really essential for international marketing. First of all, to have an effective communication one must send the message according to the receiver s culture, customs and learning process. There are some major barriers by which effective communication can be hampered. For example, companies have to be aware of what their brand name will be when it is translated in another language. Since sometimes when a company renames their brand in foreign country, it might totally change meaning of its original meaning. It will be embarrassing if the new name delivers wrong message that company does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Discovery Of The Nazi Death Camps Discovery of the Nazi death camps at the end of World War II sent shockwaves throughout the entire world and brought to question how civilized humans could participate in the atrocity of what is now known as the Holocaust. Although from the beginning, it was clear Nazi s believed Jews and other races were inferior to the Aryan race, the idea of genocide was not their original intent. How then were German soldiers able to exterminate Jews without question? Christopher Browning in his book Ordinary Men dives into the human psyche to try and recreate the possibilities in which the German soldier were able to carry out these horrifying acts. Easiest of Browning possibilities to understand why the Germans were capable of these terrible acts are the fundamentals of a race war. Initialized by seeing a fellow comrade falling to the onslaught of the enemy and engulfing them with hate, thus allowing the killing of a certain race without empathy for their actions. However, how could this mentality be contributed to the Reserve Police Battalions when they had never encountered combat? Early on in the war [they] felt the need to provide justification. They were shot, he explained, because they had been encountered without the Jewish star during roundup... • 19. Hills Like White Elephants Character Analysis How does the way people portray themselves reveal more about them and the life they live? Paying close attention to the emotions of a character and their actions can allow for more comprehension. The use of characterization within the story Hills Like White Elephants aids the reader to further understand the persona of an individual. In return, this allows the reader to understand them on a deeper level with a powerful connection. Without characterization, it would be difficult for the individual reading to form a bond with the man and the girl because they wouldn t truly understand what they re going through. In Hills Like White Elephants , by Ernest Hemingway, the American s dialogue, the way the girl converses and where their eyes wander give insight on how the man and the girl have communication difficulties. Throughout the story, it s made evident through dialogue that the man has a strong need to assert his dominance which damages his relationship with the girl. Firstly, the man appears to have total control within their relationship, even with uncomplicated factors. When they order drinks, the man says, Let s drink beer. , and he simply orders them following this statement. The girl can easily make this straightforward decision herself, but the man feels the need to take complete control. Also, when it comes to crucial life matters, the American still asserts his dominance. The need for the man to have control when it comes to important matters is seen when ... Conformity And Exclusion In Los Cachorros Many of Mario Vargas Llosa s younger literary publications were laced with Marxist critiques of a transitioning Latin American society in the 20th century, and though on the surface, Los Cachorros may seem little more than a fictional coming of age narrative, the allegorical short story is no exception. Told through an encyclopaedic tour of Lima s urban spaces, a pack of boys transition into young men and their interactions with the city reflect both the rigidity and fragmentation of the Peruvian community as a whole. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Continuing in the theme of conformity; if the boys are united by their heteronomy, Cuellar s castration, in contrast, is the source of his ostracism. His unfortunate accident is a wound that time opens instead of closes , and as the story progresses, Vargas Llosa juxtaposes the boys socially inclusive youthful pastimes of football and studying mentioned earlier in the novel with his comparatively solitary penchant for the ocean and surfing a puro pecho o con colchón (94) in chapter five. In this passage, his distance from the others is symbolised by the isolation of the sea; the narrator says the water se lo tragó (95) and later, the boys state that se perdió (96). Clearly, Cuellar s failure to partake in the testosterone fuelled rituals of sexual maturity in the city has seen him shunned from the rest of the boys and resigned to hanging out with rosquetes, cafichos y pichicateros (96) instead the modern, metropolitan outcasts. Evidently, Cuellar is incapacitated by this highly heteronormative lifestyle, as the inherent masculinity of the city is a fixed identity that will perpetually exclude him, or anyone else who cannot fulfil Peruvian societies idea of gender appropriate behaviour. Interestingly however, this notion of appropriate behaviour is recurrently brought to question throughout the story of Los Cachorros, as through the maturity of the story, the boys venture further astray from their safe haven Miraflores ... In 1770, he received employment in the court of Archbishop Hieronymous of Salzburg. The ten years in this position proved to be very unhappy for Mozart. He was subject to the whims of the Archbishop who treated him harsh, but for whom he was expected to perform amazingly at private concerts. He always felt frustrated by the lack of appreciation for his talents as well as always being underpaid. When he did have money, he lived recklessly, and never saved for times of need. He ended up having to beg for favors from nobility or to give lessons to untalented students, but for a position which would free him from his financial worries and allow him to compose as he wished. • 38. The Symbol of the Tower of London Ever since its creation by Gundolf in 1078, the Tower of London has served many purposes. Whether it was a royal residence or prison and torture chamber, most importantly, it has been a significant symbol and monument of English history and architecture. A small, modest building, many tourists are surprised to see the Tower of London, as it is not the magnificent, tall tower they were expecting. For some years, the Tower of London was used as a royal residence where monarchs would stay for a night before departing to continue their journey the next day. More interestingly, it was used as a prison, torture chamber, and execution grounds. Although, from the outside, the Tower of London is not very lavish when compared with the majestic, grand, and intricate buildings in England, it was once a desired place for royals to stay whether for one night or longer. During the time it was used as a royal residence, it was referred to as The White Tower, and was quite an alluring place. The Tower of London (or The White Tower) consisted of several buildings surrounded by a wall and mote. Later on after the construction was completed, Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, and Henry VIII enlarged the complex. Colorful, pretty, and comfortable, the Tower of London during its time as a royal residence contained more than just stone buildings it was a center of life. • 42. Reflection Project Reflection Wow, it has to be said that it is unbelievable that this is already the fourth week in this course. Time has gone by so quick, but so much has also been learned in this short time. Although I will sound like a broken record, I try to pride myself on not only taking a challenge and preserving through it, but also incorporating new things learned. At the time, things might seem difficult and habits hard to replace, but I have truly grown to have a new found appreciation to what this course has taught me. I might not utilize every concept in each thing that I do, but I will definitely have a different perspective on how something can be done. Week four really tied the previous weeks together and it became clearer the purpose for going through this process, I can also have a new appreciation of how this process would be beneficial in a project that is much larger and detailed. With that being said, although this project is not as in depth as I am sure something such as, a dissertation might be I can see the benefit of even just the simple things such as making something too wordy and also still some challenges that seem to haunt me like just the right thesis statement. New perspectives for me this week was really that of the simple process of attempting not to be so wordy. Clearly, I have not perfected this process and I have a lot to practice, but the fact that it was brought to light was a great beginning. I know that I have a tendency to be too wordy, I think that part of this is due to the fact that for one I overthink, but also because we learn to think outside the box and utilize words that sound more collegiate or intellectual (I guess). I think I get so bogged down in terminology sometimes that I need to take a step back and acknowledge that it is okay to use the word college for example, instead of higher education . I loved the examples that our text book gave about how to change a phrase such as, saying an actual color followed by the explanation that it is a color (Cole Law, 2013). Also the passive and active tones that our writing can take. These are honestly some new perspectives that I will try to retain and work on. Then of course is the challenge, my thesis statement. Unit Two of the Three Mile Island had a meltdown releasing some amount of radioactivity into the surrounding area. The meltdown led to the possibility of Unit 2 of the reactor facility to explode. The ramifications of the accident revealed the conceptual difficulties of assessing social risks and the political difficulties in managing them (Nelkin, March 1981).This paper aims at describing the accident, the post accident setup and clean up and the various losses which have been attributed to the disaster. It also intends to develop an understanding of the various complex issues and social vulnerabilities and risks that caused the disaster. Students who arrive late must push a buzzer button on the door, and they are video recorded as the student speaks into an intercom, so that they may enter the school. This is just one example of how schools have increased security across America. In Prince George County, school leaders are spending about $9.3 million for school security improvements, such as buzzers, cameras, panic buttons, fences, and security guard uniforms. In Loudoun County, schools are focusing on awareness and training. They want everyone to be involved in making schools safely secure.
