Nickel 58 Research Paper
Nickel, an element on the periodic table has many different isotopes, but the two that stand out the
most are Nickel 58 and Nickel 63.
Nickel 58, the most abundant of the Nickel isotopes, has a multitude of uses. It Nickel 58 is primarily
used as a discrete way of measuring human consumption and absorption. It can also be used to
measure energy emissions in nuclear reactors. Its appearance is solid. Neither its melting point, boiling
point, and density are available. The atomic number of Nickel 58 is 28 and its exact mass is 57.935
g/mol. Nickel 58 has 28 protons, 28 electrons and 30 neutrons. Nickel 58 is is silvery white . It is hard,
ductile, malleable and a fair conductor of heat and electricity. The half life, the time required to

Due to its stable half life, Nickel 58 is proven to be natural. Moreover, due to it being a stable isotope,
it will not go through radioactive decay. Nickel 58 can be found in the Earth s crust (it makes up .01 .
02 %), earth s core and as well as meteorites where it is found coexisted with iron. Many experts
believe the core is primarily made up of nickel and iron. It can also be created through fusion, the
combining of of lighter atomic nuclei to form a heavy nucleus. The discovery of Nickel is a story of
mistaken identity and superstition. During the 1600s, German miners were sent to find copper, but
instead came upon a previously unknown nickel. Fast forward 100 years, in 1751, the Swedish
alchemist, named Baron Axel Fredrik Cronstedt attempted to heat kupfernickel with charcoal and
discovering its many properties, for instance it being white and magnetic, clearly revealing this was
not copper. Cronstedt is credited as the first person to extract nickel and seperate it as a new

Essay on Dropouts and CTE
Dropouts and CTE
In October 2000, the overall picture of high school dropouts had changed little since the late 1980s
(Kaufman et al. 2001): For every 100 young adults enrolled in high school in October 1999, 5 had left
school without completing a program; of 34.6 million U.S. young adults aged 16 24, 3.8 million
almost 11 percent had not completed high school and were not enrolled. Some studies have shown that
students in schools with a concentration of multiple risk factors (e.g., large schools, large classes, high
poverty, inner city location) have less than one chance in two of graduating from high school;
furthermore, the economic costs of dropping out have increased as time goes on (Castellano et al.
2001). Adjusting for 50 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mertens et al. (1982) analyzed data from the New Youth cohort of the National Longitudinal Surveys
of Labor Force Behavior and found a very small (about 0.1 percent) but statistically significant effect
of vocational education in reducing the likelihood of dropping out, particularly for at risk students.
Perlmutter (1982) compared secondary retention in a large urban school district among matched
groups of students who applied to vocational high schools and were admitted (Vocational Controls),
those who applied but were not admitted (Targets), and those who had not applied (Academic
Controls). After 1 semester, 18 percent of the Targets had dropped out but none of the Vocational
Controls. After 5 semesters, Vocational Controls had the highest retention rate in district schools (73.7
percent), followed by Academic Controls (68.7 percent) and Targets (58.5 percent). Furthermore,
when both Targets and Academic Controls received any occupational training in academic high
schools, they showed better retention rates.
In a review of research, Boesel et al. (1994) noted that descriptive findings indicated that vocational
students were less likely than general students to drop out (if more likely than academic students).
However, students who defined themselves as vocational students in 12th rather than 9th grade in a
follow up survey or who were defined by having a vocational concentration were often much less
likely to drop out than

Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And
Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past half
century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s
inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors
that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic
inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in
achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of
economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor that is
unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach
levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser,
and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of
one s support for redistribution.
The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the
support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and
move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms,
in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to
baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would
typically come at the expense of other individuals.
The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in
inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s
household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major
point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the
United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack
citizenship.

Audit Tenure, Industry Specialization, and Firm Site...
The objective of this study is to evaluate audit tenure, industry specialization, and firm size and its
correlation to financial restatements. A client s restatements suggest low audit quality because it
indicates that the client s financial statements are not in line with GAAP. I analyzed a sample of 250
firm year restatements from public companies during 2008 to 2012. I gathered the data using
COMPUSTAT and AuditAnalytics. For my results, I have found that auditor tenure has a negative
correlation with financial restatement. I also found that industry expertise has a negative correlation
with financial restatements. Further, it appears that firm size has no correlation with financial
restatements. In conclusion, it turns out my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only do these effects occur immediately after the announcement of a restatement, but there could
be long term effects as well, tarnishing the reputation of an audit firm if it affects a big client.
I used restatements as my dependent variable. Here, RESTATE is coded 1 for each firm year a
company restated its financials, and 0 otherwise.
Auditor Tenure TENURE will be one of my experimental variables. This variable is measured using
the natural log of years the audit firms audit their clients. Using auditor data from COMPUSTAT
database, we use tenure to determine the number of years the auditor has been working with the client
from the original issued financial statement to the years up to/ after the financial restatement.
Industry Knowledge Here, EXPERT is my second experimental variable. I used relative specialization
as an indicator for industry expertise. According to Abbott and Parker (2000), relative specialization
produces effective results in identifying which auditor had the biggest impact on the auditing client.
To have industry knowledge, the auditing firm must audit clients with the top sales revenue in their

Power In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies, it has successfully unpacked Golding s personal ideas and
values about power, that are to be held between different characters in the novel. It teaches the
audience that humans have the ability to maintain and destroy a corruptive situation. Power can be
represented in different circumstances and depends on who holds the ultimate power. The two leading
characters, Ralph and Jack have made an occurrence of disintegrating their own society throughout the
novel. The amount of power on the island corrupts absolutely whilst the savagery in the boys have
invaded their civilised selfhood.
As the boys slowly inhabit on the maroon island, the audience develops an understanding of Jack and
Ralph s different sets of beliefs, that are influenced by their view on the society. Golding has added
concepts of allegories to make the audience challenge their thoughts power and how it can be utilised.
The whole novel is referred to allegory for danger of the excessive power and how it has the ability to
give way and inherent a savage nature. Conversely, this is demonstrated by all of the boys on the
island. When the boys begin to adapt to the island, Ralph s lieutenant, Piggy finds a alluring, white
pink shell, called the conch. Both Ralph and Piggy decide to utilise the conch by allowing a individual
to speak while everyone must obey and listen to them. Although the conch has a certain purity to
others, it begins to foreshadow its use. Consequently,

The Issue Of Social Media
Issue 2 Social Media Unlike distance learning which a tool that delivers education to students is;
social media is a form of communication that many of our students utilize to learn about matters that
are going on around the campus and around the world. As stated by Ratliff, (2011) Communication
with student on campuses of higher education continues to drastically change (p.1). There are many
colleges and universities around the country that use social media to communicate a variety of
information to its students. There are several social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
that are popular with all ages, races, and gender of students. With new technology come new
challenges, individuals now communicate differently, research differently, and socialize differently
(Ratliff, 2011, p. 1). Student affairs professionals not only must keep up with new regulations, changes
in policy, but they also should keep up with the different communication that students engage in. As
stated by Ratliff, (2011), The prevalent terms used to describe social media include: information
sharing, electronic communication, and social interaction (p.2). These forms of media are no longer
just an individual preference, but colleges and universities also set up pages about themselves. The age
of digital data is upon us in full force and one must be diligent in what they post and whom they are
trying to communicate with. It is important to understand specifically the terms

Disadvantages Of Narcissism
As they were in middle class, which was higher class than what my siblings and I were at, I wondered
if this would apply to them. With my experience, I believe it would since they were of higher class
than us and those narcissists would be boastful about accomplishments and possessions. Here, some
readers may be saying that social class does not necessarily cause one to be narcissistic. I am not
saying that not all those of higher class are narcissists, but rather that it can put them for a higher risk
of becoming narcissistic. Other factors, such as social media and parenting, could also contribute to
one becoming narcissistic. Going along with the factor of parenting, the question of how that family
would behave with each other had come up. I have already seen how they could treat others outside of
their family, whether it be to put on a different face before their true colors leek out after getting to
know them. From what I have seen and heard, they tend to have a golden child and a sort of
scapegoat. In the article, The Strength of the Scapegoat in the Narcissist Family, Julie Hall, a
contributing writer for the Huffington Post, describes a scapegoat as ...the narcissist s go to projection
screen for his abusive behavior and his trash receptacle for blame and rage (2017, para. 3). The
context being this is Julie s experience growing up with a narcissistic father and how she was able to
prevail later on. In this case, the scapegoat of the family seemed to be one of the

The Natural World In Anne of Green Gables Essay examples
Both nature and the natural world in Canadian literature are viewed as significant themes in
representing an alternative composition to a landscape. It insists on painting a bigger picture and
changing the perspective on how we interpret the world. The natural world is diverse with the notion
that it can be seen through malevolency, in which it can instill fear or be seen as a threat. In addition, it
can be seen as nuanced and viewed in a more positive structure, where it is celebrated. In the coming
of age story, Anne of Green Gables, Montgomery represents nature in an optimistic standpoint and
therefore, establishes that nature is emphasized through the genre of romanticism. It can be argued that

What did that tree, leaning out from the bank, all white and lacy, make you think of? She asked. Well
now, I dunno, said Matthew. Why a bride, of course a bride all in white with a lovely misty veil.
(Montgomery, 65 66) It is identified here how nature pleases Anne s eye. The way in which she is able
to take a tree branch and bring it to life by imagining that is connected with something beautiful like a
bride. It doesn t only suggest her inquisitive imagination, but also her intellect. With using the
enjoyments of nature to foster a desire, and with her perceptive vision she is capable of imagining the
branch as something else. Through its beauty and emphasis on colour she can make a connection that
the tree branch can be compared to a bride. It is crucial how Anne doesn t take the natural sights of
Avonlea for granted, because she values the power of self expression in nature. Through her
imagination with nature she is able to seek comfort. This is seen on her first night in Avonlea, when
she s afraid no one will come for her, so she turns to a tree as her home, where she can sleep. She
states, I had made up my mind that if you didn t come for me and to night I d go down the track to that
big wild cherry tree at the bend, and climb up into it to stay all night. (Montgomery, 64) This scene
represents how Anne is reliant on nature. Instead of being afraid that no one has yet to pick her up she
uses nature to occupy her time. She is inspired by nature to

A Love Story in E.M Forster’sA Room with a View
E.M Forster s, A Room with a view, focuses on the love story and development of Lucy Honeychurch
who is torn between the expectations of the world in which she moves and the passionate yearning of
her heart. Although, A Room with a View largely explores the idea of deciding between true love and
meeting the expectations of behaviour and beliefs of the society, the novel also follows Lucy s coming
of age. The conflict between social convention and true love is shown through the comparison of Lucy
s love for George which is completely unacceptable according to social standards and her match with
Cecil which is far more conventional. On the other hand, the novel also focuses on the development of
Lucy and and how she matures into a young women with the help of Mr. Emerson, and George.
Hence, while choosing between true love and social etiquette is the central focus of the novel, Lucy s
coming of age is also an important theme in the book.
Throughout the novel, Forster emphasises on the social mores of the british society placed upon Lucy
of having a socially acceptable marriage with Cecil in comparison to her unconventional marriage
with George. Lucy decides to marry Cecil at first, to please the society and her family especially her
mother Mrs. Honeychurch who values the prevailing social definitions of respectability as Foster

Child Custody Essay
Frequently, parents or other seeking guardians who seek custody of a child will seek guidance through
the court. In most states, family courts determine child custody arrangements based on what is in the
best interests of the child. The courts look at a number of factors in making this determination. They
look at parents desire and ability to care for the child. They also look at emotional bond between the
child and both parents or seeking guardian.
Child Custody is when a parent or guardian is granted physical and/or legal custody of a child by court
order. There are several types of child custody, but four are focused in this presentation. First, legal
custody, which means the court granted rights to make important, long term life decisions on behalf of

Hurricanes And Its Impact On The United States
Hurricanes have affected the Caribbean islands for many centuries but particularly in the 19th century.
During the 1840 s Cuba was affected by three hurricanes that all happened within four years of each
other in 1842, 1844, and 1846. Many scholars have looked over these hurricanes in Cuba as not really
having much of an in depth affect on Cuba s life and history but just as being hurricanes. But Louis A.
Pérez Jr. a professor and scholar, labeled these 19th century hurricanes as a flash point to look at Cuba
s history from multiple angles. saw the 1842, 1844, and 1846 hurricanes as being more than just
storms by using multiple resources like the Archivo Nacional de Cubaa, Havana, encyclopedias, such
as the Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones by David Longshore (New York, 1998),
and descriptive chronologies by David L. Niddrie and David M. Ludlow to name a few. By reviewing
and using all of these resources, Louis A. Pérez concluded that the 1840 s hurricanes had an effect on
agriculture, social relations, and the overall national identity of Cuba.
The Cuban coffee, tobacco, and sugar productions transformed in the 19th century due to the
hurricanes of 1842, 1844, and 1846. The productions of coffee, tobacco, and sugar prior to the 1840 s
hurricanes were profitable businesses. Many Cuban farmers saw the productions as a great way to
grow and to invest in the future. But once the 1844 hurricane hit Cuba, many farmers were left

How To Go Back To The Dominican Republic
Dominican Republic Reflection I thought going back to the Dominican Republic for a second year
would feel like being the parents on Christmas morning: you get to watch everyone else s reaction to
the stuff you ve already seen, and you just get to sit back and help throw away the wrapping paper. I
thought I had, in a way, already had my transformative moment; I was there to see my Dominican
friends again, to help my HGP friends experience the trip, and to do some good for the people of the
Dominican Republic. Most of the week felt that way. I was still bonding and having fun with the kids,
but it definitely felt like I was there to help more than to experience. I felt more emotionally protected,

It s not something that can be quantified; I can t show you pictures of all the houses we built, or of the

because the whole concept of life changing is pretty cliché. After all, how could just two weeks in a
country really change your life? Again, you kind of have to be there. So what makes this trip so
unique? What s the takeaway? What did I really learn? Well for one, I can say that I have so much
interest in and respect for Hispanic and especially Dominican culture. Hospitality, acceptance,
kindness, and a welcoming smile are things that are certainly lacking in the states. It may seem
insignificant, but there s something special about walking past a stranger, and not having to put your
head down, make a stern face, and continue in a straight line. But I think the bigger lesson to learn,
though, involves poverty and inequality of opportunity. Two years ago, I could have pulled up tons of
statistics about poverty, and how poor the majority of the world is. The conditions that some people
live under are really just cruel, but it s not the hut made from the leaves that s the cruel thing; it s our
big houses, luxury cars, and designer clothes. Father Don said, Poverty isn t when someone has no
shoes and has to look to a superior to ask for shoes; poverty is when they ask, and the superiors don t
give them anything. This really stuck with me. Poverty isn t

Comparing Beowulf And Grendel
In all works of literature characters share traits and have differences. Some traits may be obvious such
as physical features or personalities. Some differences might simply be how other characters view
them. In Beowulf the characters have both, similar traits, and differences. The main characters
Beowulf and Grendel share one main trait, they are both well known but Beowulf has a heroic
reputation and Grendel has an eviler reputation. Beowulf is a young prince known throughout
Sweden. Grendel is a monster known throughout the land of Dane. Both characters share public

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable

Impact Of Etfs Trading On Underlying Securities
Because price changes in ETFs directly reflect market information and alter investors behaviours and
asset allocation, the underlying security liquidity and volatility should be scrutinized. The third main
strand of academic literature has revealed that the potential impacts of ETFs trading on underlying
securities, and the markets as a whole, is of substantial interest to both investment professionals and
financial academics. There is an extensive amount of research that emphasises the effects on liquidity,
volatility and valuation. In fact, ETFs impact on the quality of underlying securities is not an
unexplored area to theoretical or empirical academics. Existing studies have examined the effects of
ETFs introduction on their underlying indices or composite securities. Subrahmanyam (1991) and
Gorton et al. (1993) established theoretical models to test basket securities , including index linked
securities or index futures contracts (Charupat and Miu, 2013). The models predicted liquidity
migration to component securities and indicated that the level of diversification of a composite
security is positively correlated with its appeal to liquidity traders. The analysis was based on the idea
that component stocks were diversified (with no firm risk), and the liquidity traders, thus, expected
lower losses to informed traders by trading in composite securities rather than in underlying individual
securities. Due to lower transaction costs, basket securities were more

the deficit to 13. Sophomore Savanah Doty hit a triple and classmate Jasmine Morris split from the

The Slice Of A Knife
The Slice of a Knife He didn t look that dead. Apart from the river of blood rushing out the gaping
neck wound, he looked pretty much the same as he did a few minutes before. His hand was still
clasped around his bottle of beer and face was still frozen in a permanent gaze of boredom. The only
thing different about James s face was the single tear that rolled down his cheek and hung on the cliff
of his chin amongst his stubble. As it fell from his face, his body smashed forward into the wooden
table. And in that moment I felt completely alone. James was the only reason I was there with the
oudious group of so called friends . Only a few moments before we had been having a wonderful time,
drinking wine out of chipped coffee mugs and reminiscing about the good old days . Then in a beat of
a heart, the lights gave out. Exploded glass cascaded from the ceiling and the sudden fright caused
everyone to panic. There were a few minutes of clattering in the murky darkness before Bill switched
his massive solar powered lamp he (ever so conveniently) had with him. So typical of Bill, why had
he even brought a lamp in the first place, particularly a solar powered one. He had also carried an
excessive amount of electronic devices that he immediately proceeded to plug in as soon as he got the
chance, perhaps thats why the power gave out. James was murdered in that dark but did Bill have
reason to see James dead? With James out of the way he would be in total control of their company,

Code Of Ethics For Nurses With Interpretive Statements
There is no doubt about the importance of ethics in our life as well as in our clinical area as nurses to
protect ourselves, our patients, and their families. There are nine provisions in code of ethics. What I
am interested to examine is provision number 3 the nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the
rights, health, and safety of the patient . This provision consists of 6 statements, which are protection
of the rights of privacy and confidentiality, protection of human participants in research, performance
standards and review mechanisms, professional responsibility in promoting a culture of safety,
protection of patient s health and safety by acting on questionable practice, and patient protection and
impaired practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another case that was happened also in one of our hospital in Saudi Arabia about the importance of
secure electronic communication. We do have a kind of electronic system called Quadra met pretty
similar to patients file with all information about patients. This system access doesn t offer for
students, its only for staff nurses; however, student nurse ask one of her friend who was a RN to use
Rn s access to the Quadra met system. The student accidently checked the name of one of her family
member who has AIDS. This act from Rn leaded to many bad outcomes in the student s future in
nursing school and with her family relationship. It is important to increase the awareness about this
ethics code to protect nurses from any inappropriate action could be done later on. My job as an
advanced nurse is to apply code of ethics by recommend health institutions to enforce all nurses and
nursing students in attending code of ethics courses and workshop to enhance their knowledge in
ethics. In addition, Participants in research have the right for protecting them from any violates by
researchers. Some governmental hospitals in Saudi Arabia may enforce their patients to sign for their
paperwork to be part from clinical research. Although some patients don t want to participate in the
clinical research, they still need to sign on that form to receive the care from the hospital. Personally, I
think this kinds of hospital do not respect patient s autonomy even if they sign

`` Popular Mechanics `` By Raymond Carver
Josaiah Thomas
Professor Tittle
ENGWR 303 104
6 July 2015
Essay #2 In the short story, Popular Mechanics, by Raymond Carver, starts with a short rise in action
through the introduction of the characters, setting, and plot. The short story has a face paced touch,
which moves quickly towards the climax and released the resolution right after. The short story was
narrated in third person in order to reveal the actions and the dialogue between a man and a woman
which expressed separation, struggle, miscommunication, and conflict between the couple. In the
beginning of the short story there was already a sense of separation between the couple through how
the husband or boyfriend is described as packing up his clothes because he plans on leaving the house.
When the wife or girlfriend comes home, she realizes what is going on and feels pleased that he is
leaving, however she is a bit aroused. It is important to show the physical distance between the couple
because it expresses that they do not want to be together anymore. Once the man is ready to leave, a
physical fight breaks lose about whether who takes custody of the baby. All throughout the short story,
the narrator never states why the couple wants to separate and gives little detail about the couple. This
allows the readers to become active in what they are reading by having the freedom to understand and
develop their own opinions about what is going on throughout the short story. Carver uses ambiguity
in order to keep

Importance of Oceans
The ocean is one of Earth s most valuable natural resources. It provides food in the form of fish and
shellfish about 200 billion pounds are caught each year. It s used for transportation both travel and
shipping. It provides a treasured source of recreation for humans. It is mined for minerals (salt, sand,
gravel, and some manganese, copper, nickel, iron, and cobalt can be found in the deep sea) and drilled
for crude oil.
The ocean plays a critical role in removing carbon from the atmosphere and providing oxygen. It
regulates Earth s climate. The ocean is an increasingly important source of biomedical organisms with
enormous potential for fighting disease. These are just a few examples of the importance of the ocean
to life on land. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Massachusetts alone, the cod, haddock and yellowtail flounder industries collapsed, causing an
economic disaster for the area.
Due to the importance of fishing to the worldwide economy and the need for humans to understand
human impacts on the environment, the academic division of fisheries science was developed.
Fisheries science includes all aspects of marine biology, in addition to economics and management
skills and information. Marine conservation issues like overfishing, sustainable fisheries and
management of fisheries are also examined through fisheries science.
In order for there to be plenty of fish in the years ahead, fisheries will have to develop sustainable
fisheries and some will have to close. Due to the constant increase in the human population, the
oceans have been overfished with a resulting decline of fish crucial to the economy and communities
of the world. The control of the world s fisheries is a controversial subject, as they cannot produce
enough to satisfy the demand, especially when there aren t enough fish left to breed in healthy
ecosystems. Scientists are often in the role of fisheries managers and must regulate the amount of
fishing in the oceans, a position not popular with those who have to make a living fishing ever
decreasing populations.
The two main questions facing fisheries management are:
1. What is the carrying capacity of the ocean? How many fish are there and how many of which type
of fish

Men Have Control Over Women In The Story Of An Hour
Some people believe that once they marry they are giving up their freedom. In some cases, this is true,
especially in the late 19th century. Woman during this period were marrying as young as 15 years old
and were marrying men well into their 30s. This caused a lack of communication and love between a
married couple and usually resulted in the man having control over the woman. The idea of men
having control over women in marriage can be seen in Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour. In this
short story, Louise Mallard learns of her husband s death due to a fatal train accident. Sad and alone at
first, Mrs. Mallard sits in her room contemplating how she will live now that her husband is gone.
Soon her emotions are flipped and Mrs. Mallard

Everyday Experience, Suggests Edgerton, Like Documentary,
Everyday experience, suggests Edgerton, like documentary, arises from the interplay of two realms;
one hidden and one perceived. This duality, encompassing both the darkroom of the film developer
and dark theater where the film is screened, pertains not only to documentary but to life as we live it.
Masked by our inherent inability to see, and curled inside timescales we cannot untangle, a bizarre
world plays out, contained by, yet isolated from that which we live in (Edgerton. 1970 1 2).
Nevertheless, this domain remains intimately connected to ours, accessible only through the lens of
ongoing technological advancement. Similar to the convoluted relationship between adjacent
timescales, documentary and truth also share an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1993. 24 25). With this in mind, despite Edgerton s determination to portray only the facts, Seeing the
Unseen, is also successful in employing aesthetic function to augment its effect on the audience. This
is especially evident during the scene in which Edgerton shows lengthy uninterrupted clips of the
hummingbird s flight accompanied by title screens with sentences like the wings beat 50 times a
second as the birds pivot and hover and park on emptiness communicating through careful and artistic
language an underlying appreciation for the beauty that accompanies the facts in timescales much
shorter than our own.6
In our investigation of Edgerton s film, it is also useful to classify its fundamental purpose. Although it
is impossible to know definitively, Seeing the Unseen is most likely intended to serve as a statement
of Edgerton s research results, but as such, it implicates several vital nuances. First, because this
documentary was created by Edgerton to present his revelations to fellow academics and the greater
public, it necessarily sought to portray only the favorable portions of his technology and not those
which were inadequate or required improvement. In this way, we encounter the first nuance within
truth s complex affiliation with documentary.
This nuance is explained by Andre Bazin, in his novel What is Cinema?, when he writes that an image

Men s Sheds
Beyond this research there have been more recent outcomes that continue to support the benefits of
men s sheds. Colla, P. Kirwana, L. and Lambea,B. (2014) in their paper Engaging hard to reach men in
community based health promotions commented on the role that men s sheds can play as their finding
concluded that hard to reach men prefer structured programmes with defined tangible outcomes. The
structures that are evident in all shed s make it possible to engage these hard to reach men.
Researchers have begun to narrow their focus onto to more discrete aspects of the men s shed
movement highlighting again the benefits that come from involvement in a shed. Cavanagha, J.
Southcombeb, A. and Bartrama, T. (2014) found that collaborative learning is critical to ensure
effective training and development of men in Men s Sheds in a study of five sheds. As sheds have
developed their capabilities they have begun to be able to respond to other needs of older men.

A Summary On The Day Of Milan
yer English 101 Unity High School Here I was, asleep on the plane dreaming of my time in Italy, a
place that once used to be apart of my imagination. I dreamt of Milan and the fashion trends that I ll
never quite understand, of Venice and the anxiety filled gondola ride through the city s canals, of
Florence and the hike up the Pre Apennine Mountains, and of Rome with its historical sites that most
will only see in textbooks. Walking through the airport to the bus, I could already tell that Milan was a
place that most of us felt like we didn t belong. The short bus ride was full of twists and turns and
hearing our tour guide, Elvira, tell us that we ll soon learn how to drive like Italians. After reaching
Milan and walking through the city in shorts and plain shirts, we had never felt so underdressed in
such a casual situation. Women were touring the city square, their outfits congested with too many
patterns and bright heels. Around us, electronic billboards flashed advertisements for companies like
Gucci, Prada, and Dolce Gabbana, signaling the new hottest looks, but ones that I could never imagine
anyone actually wearing. I was wrong... Hoards of women blocked the sidewalks city square, eyeing
the new merchandise through the window front. I was thankful to have finally found what felt like a
safe environment after getting back on the bus; the awkward feeling of thinking that I stuck out like a
sore thumb was washed away. The three hour long bus ride from Milan to

Many experts believe the core is primarily made up of nickel and iron. It can also be created through fusion, the combining of of lighter atomic nuclei to form a heavy nucleus. The discovery of Nickel is a story of mistaken identity and superstition. During the 1600s, German miners were sent to find copper, but instead came upon a previously unknown nickel. Fast forward 100 years, in 1751, the Swedish alchemist, named Baron Axel Fredrik Cronstedt attempted to heat kupfernickel with charcoal and discovering its many properties, for instance it being white and magnetic, clearly revealing this was not copper. • 3. Essay on Dropouts and CTE Dropouts and CTE In October 2000, the overall picture of high school dropouts had changed little since the late 1980s (Kaufman et al. 2001): For every 100 young adults enrolled in high school in October 1999, 5 had left school without completing a program; of 34.6 million U.S. young adults aged 16 24, 3.8 million almost 11 percent had not completed high school and were not enrolled. Some studies have shown that students in schools with a concentration of multiple risk factors (e.g., large schools, large classes, high poverty, inner city location) have less than one chance in two of graduating from high school; furthermore, the economic costs of dropping out have increased as time goes on (Castellano et al. 2001). (1982) analyzed data from the New Youth cohort of the National Longitudinal Surveys of Labor Force Behavior and found a very small (about 0.1 percent) but statistically significant effect of vocational education in reducing the likelihood of dropping out, particularly for at risk students. Perlmutter (1982) compared secondary retention in a large urban school district among matched groups of students who applied to vocational high schools and were admitted (Vocational Controls), those who applied but were not admitted (Targets), and those who had not applied (Academic Controls). After 1 semester, 18 percent of the Targets had dropped out but none of the Vocational Controls. After 5 semesters, Vocational Controls had the highest retention rate in district schools (73.7 percent), followed by Academic Controls (68.7 percent) and Targets (58.5 percent). Furthermore, when both Targets and Academic Controls received any occupational training in academic high schools, they showed better retention rates. In a review of research, Boesel et al. (1994) noted that descriptive findings indicated that vocational students were less likely than general students to drop out (if more likely than academic students). However, students who defined themselves as vocational students in 12th rather than 9th grade in a follow up survey or who were defined by having a vocational concentration were often much less likely to drop out than ... • 4. Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past half century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor that is unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser, and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of one s support for redistribution. The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms, in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would typically come at the expense of other individuals. The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack citizenship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The objective of this study is to evaluate audit tenure, industry specialization, and firm size and its correlation to financial restatements. A client s restatements suggest low audit quality because it indicates that the client s financial statements are not in line with GAAP. I analyzed a sample of 250 firm year restatements from public companies during 2008 to 2012. I gathered the data using COMPUSTAT and AuditAnalytics. • 7. Power In Lord Of The Flies Analysis In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies, it has successfully unpacked Golding s personal ideas and values about power, that are to be held between different characters in the novel. It teaches the audience that humans have the ability to maintain and destroy a corruptive situation. Power can be represented in different circumstances and depends on who holds the ultimate power. The two leading characters, Ralph and Jack have made an occurrence of disintegrating their own society throughout the novel. The amount of power on the island corrupts absolutely whilst the savagery in the boys have invaded their civilised selfhood. As the boys slowly inhabit on the maroon island, the audience develops an understanding of Jack and Ralph s different sets of beliefs, that are influenced by their view on the society. Golding has added concepts of allegories to make the audience challenge their thoughts power and how it can be utilised. The whole novel is referred to allegory for danger of the excessive power and how it has the ability to give way and inherent a savage nature. Conversely, this is demonstrated by all of the boys on the island. When the boys begin to adapt to the island, Ralph s lieutenant, Piggy finds a alluring, white pink shell, called the conch. With my experience, I believe it would since they were of higher class than us and those narcissists would be boastful about accomplishments and possessions. Here, some readers may be saying that social class does not necessarily cause one to be narcissistic. I am not saying that not all those of higher class are narcissists, but rather that it can put them for a higher risk of becoming narcissistic. Other factors, such as social media and parenting, could also contribute to one becoming narcissistic. Going along with the factor of parenting, the question of how that family would behave with each other had come up. I have already seen how they could treat others outside of their family, whether it be to put on a different face before their true colors leek out after getting to know them. From what I have seen and heard, they tend to have a golden child and a sort of scapegoat. • 10. The Natural World In Anne of Green Gables Essay examples Both nature and the natural world in Canadian literature are viewed as significant themes in representing an alternative composition to a landscape. It insists on painting a bigger picture and changing the perspective on how we interpret the world. The natural world is diverse with the notion that it can be seen through malevolency, in which it can instill fear or be seen as a threat. In addition, it can be seen as nuanced and viewed in a more positive structure, where it is celebrated. In the coming of age story, Anne of Green Gables, Montgomery represents nature in an optimistic standpoint and therefore, establishes that nature is emphasized through the genre of romanticism. She asked. Well now, I dunno, said Matthew. Why a bride, of course a bride all in white with a lovely misty veil. (Montgomery, 65 66) It is identified here how nature pleases Anne s eye. The way in which she is able to take a tree branch and bring it to life by imagining that is connected with something beautiful like a bride. It doesn t only suggest her inquisitive imagination, but also her intellect. With using the enjoyments of nature to foster a desire, and with her perceptive vision she is capable of imagining the branch as something else. Through its beauty and emphasis on colour she can make a connection that the tree branch can be compared to a bride. It is crucial how Anne doesn t take the natural sights of Avonlea for granted, because she values the power of self expression in nature. Through her imagination with nature she is able to seek comfort. This is seen on her first night in Avonlea, when she s afraid no one will come for her, so she turns to a tree as her home, where she can sleep. She states, I had made up my mind that if you didn t come for me and to night I d go down the track to that big wild cherry tree at the bend, and climb up into it to stay all night. (Montgomery, 64) This scene represents how Anne is reliant on nature. Instead of being afraid that no one has yet to pick her up she uses nature to occupy her time. She is inspired by nature to ... A Love Story in E.M Forster’sA Room with a View E.M Forster s, A Room with a view, focuses on the love story and development of Lucy Honeychurch who is torn between the expectations of the world in which she moves and the passionate yearning of her heart. Although, A Room with a View largely explores the idea of deciding between true love and meeting the expectations of behaviour and beliefs of the society, the novel also follows Lucy s coming of age. The conflict between social convention and true love is shown through the comparison of Lucy s love for George which is completely unacceptable according to social standards and her match with Cecil which is far more conventional. On the other hand, the novel also focuses on the development of Lucy and and how she matures into a young women with the help of Mr. Emerson, and George. During the 1840 s Cuba was affected by three hurricanes that all happened within four years of each other in 1842, 1844, and 1846. Many scholars have looked over these hurricanes in Cuba as not really having much of an in depth affect on Cuba s life and history but just as being hurricanes. But Louis A. Pérez Jr. a professor and scholar, labeled these 19th century hurricanes as a flash point to look at Cuba s history from multiple angles. saw the 1842, 1844, and 1846 hurricanes as being more than just storms by using multiple resources like the Archivo Nacional de Cubaa, Havana, encyclopedias, such as the Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones by David Longshore (New York, 1998), and descriptive chronologies by David L. • 22. Impact Of Etfs Trading On Underlying Securities Because price changes in ETFs directly reflect market information and alter investors behaviours and asset allocation, the underlying security liquidity and volatility should be scrutinized. The third main strand of academic literature has revealed that the potential impacts of ETFs trading on underlying securities, and the markets as a whole, is of substantial interest to both investment professionals and financial academics. There is an extensive amount of research that emphasises the effects on liquidity, volatility and valuation. In fact, ETFs impact on the quality of underlying securities is not an unexplored area to theoretical or empirical academics. Existing studies have examined the effects of ETFs introduction on their underlying indices or composite securities. Subrahmanyam (1991) and Gorton et al. (1993) established theoretical models to test basket securities , including index linked securities or index futures contracts (Charupat and Miu, 2013). The models predicted liquidity migration to component securities and indicated that the level of diversification of a composite security is positively correlated with its appeal to liquidity traders. The analysis was based on the idea that component stocks were diversified (with no firm risk), and the liquidity traders, thus, expected lower losses to informed traders by trading in composite securities rather than in underlying individual securities. Due to lower transaction costs, basket securities were more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Slice Of A Knife The Slice of a Knife He didn t look that dead. Apart from the river of blood rushing out the gaping neck wound, he looked pretty much the same as he did a few minutes before. His hand was still clasped around his bottle of beer and face was still frozen in a permanent gaze of boredom. The only thing different about James s face was the single tear that rolled down his cheek and hung on the cliff of his chin amongst his stubble. As it fell from his face, his body smashed forward into the wooden table. And in that moment I felt completely alone. James was the only reason I was there with the oudious group of so called friends . Only a few moments before we had been having a wonderful time, drinking wine out of chipped coffee mugs and reminiscing about the good old days . Then in a beat of a heart, the lights gave out. Exploded glass cascaded from the ceiling and the sudden fright caused everyone to panic. There were a few minutes of clattering in the murky darkness before Bill switched his massive solar powered lamp he (ever so conveniently) had with him. So typical of Bill, why had he even brought a lamp in the first place, particularly a solar powered one. He had also carried an excessive amount of electronic devices that he immediately proceeded to plug in as soon as he got the chance, perhaps thats why the power gave out. Code Of Ethics For Nurses With Interpretive Statements There is no doubt about the importance of ethics in our life as well as in our clinical area as nurses to protect ourselves, our patients, and their families. This act from Rn leaded to many bad outcomes in the student s future in nursing school and with her family relationship. • 26. `` Popular Mechanics `` By Raymond Carver Josaiah Thomas Professor Tittle ENGWR 303 104 6 July 2015 Essay #2 In the short story, Popular Mechanics, by Raymond Carver, starts with a short rise in action through the introduction of the characters, setting, and plot. The short story has a face paced touch, which moves quickly towards the climax and released the resolution right after. The short story was narrated in third person in order to reveal the actions and the dialogue between a man and a woman which expressed separation, struggle, miscommunication, and conflict between the couple. In the beginning of the short story there was already a sense of separation between the couple through how the husband or boyfriend is described as packing up his clothes because he plans on leaving the house. When the wife or girlfriend comes home, she realizes what is going on and feels pleased that he is leaving, however she is a bit aroused. It is important to show the physical distance between the couple because it expresses that they do not want to be together anymore. Once the man is ready to leave, a physical fight breaks lose about whether who takes custody of the baby. All throughout the short story, the narrator never states why the couple wants to separate and gives little detail about the couple. This allows the readers to become active in what they are reading by having the freedom to understand and develop their own opinions about what is going on throughout the short story. Carver uses ambiguity in order to keep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the importance of fishing to the worldwide economy and the need for humans to understand human impacts on the environment, the academic division of fisheries science was developed. Fisheries science includes all aspects of marine biology, in addition to economics and management skills and information. Marine conservation issues like overfishing, sustainable fisheries and management of fisheries are also examined through fisheries science. In order for there to be plenty of fish in the years ahead, fisheries will have to develop sustainable fisheries and some will have to close. Due to the constant increase in the human population, the oceans have been overfished with a resulting decline of fish crucial to the economy and communities of the world. The control of the world s fisheries is a controversial subject, as they cannot produce enough to satisfy the demand, especially when there aren t enough fish left to breed in healthy ecosystems. Scientists are often in the role of fisheries managers and must regulate the amount of fishing in the oceans, a position not popular with those who have to make a living fishing ever decreasing populations. The two main questions facing fisheries management are: 1. What is the carrying capacity of the ocean? How many fish are there and how many of which type of fish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In some cases, this is true, especially in the late 19th century. Woman during this period were marrying as young as 15 years old and were marrying men well into their 30s. This caused a lack of communication and love between a married couple and usually resulted in the man having control over the woman. The idea of men having control over women in marriage can be seen in Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour. • 29. Everyday Experience, Suggests Edgerton, Like Documentary, Everyday experience, suggests Edgerton, like documentary, arises from the interplay of two realms; one hidden and one perceived. This duality, encompassing both the darkroom of the film developer and dark theater where the film is screened, pertains not only to documentary but to life as we live it. Masked by our inherent inability to see, and curled inside timescales we cannot untangle, a bizarre world plays out, contained by, yet isolated from that which we live in (Edgerton. 1970 1 2). Nevertheless, this domain remains intimately connected to ours, accessible only through the lens of ongoing technological advancement. With this in mind, despite Edgerton s determination to portray only the facts, Seeing the Unseen, is also successful in employing aesthetic function to augment its effect on the audience. This is especially evident during the scene in which Edgerton shows lengthy uninterrupted clips of the hummingbird s flight accompanied by title screens with sentences like the wings beat 50 times a second as the birds pivot and hover and park on emptiness communicating through careful and artistic language an underlying appreciation for the beauty that accompanies the facts in timescales much shorter than our own.6 In our investigation of Edgerton s film, it is also useful to classify its fundamental purpose. Although it is impossible to know definitively, Seeing the Unseen is most likely intended to serve as a statement of Edgerton s research results, but as such, it implicates several vital nuances. First, because this documentary was created by Edgerton to present his revelations to fellow academics and the greater public, it necessarily sought to portray only the favorable portions of his technology and not those which were inadequate or required improvement. In this way, we encounter the first nuance within truth s complex affiliation with documentary. (2014) in their paper Engaging hard to reach men in community based health promotions commented on the role that men s sheds can play as their finding concluded that hard to reach men prefer structured programmes with defined tangible outcomes. The structures that are evident in all shed s make it possible to engage these hard to reach men. Researchers have begun to narrow their focus onto to more discrete aspects of the men s shed movement highlighting again the benefits that come from involvement in a shed. Cavanagha, J. I dreamt of Milan and the fashion trends that I ll never quite understand, of Venice and the anxiety filled gondola ride through the city s canals, of Florence and the hike up the Pre Apennine Mountains, and of Rome with its historical sites that most will only see in textbooks. Walking through the airport to the bus, I could already tell that Milan was a place that most of us felt like we didn t belong. The short bus ride was full of twists and turns and hearing our tour guide, Elvira, tell us that we ll soon learn how to drive like Italians. After reaching Milan and walking through the city in shorts and plain shirts, we had never felt so underdressed in such a casual situation. Women were touring the city square, their outfits congested with too many patterns and bright heels. Around us, electronic billboards flashed advertisements for companies like Gucci, Prada, and Dolce Gabbana, signaling the new hottest looks, but ones that I could never imagine anyone actually wearing.
