In taking the memory demonstration test I scored a hit rate of 87%. My false alarm rate was at
0% and my false memory rate was at 0% as well. I found the most suprising part of the test to be

In comparing the acts of violence and what they represent in these two stories, I feel it s important
to summarize the events that lead up to the violence.
Jackson s The Lottery begins with a description of a clear and sunny day in June. The narrations
describe the activities of the village residents, each activity done as cheerfully as if it were a
town picnic, the same as the years prior. If you look closer into the description of the activities,
and the character s involved in them, you will see a division of gender that is stereotypical. The
boys gathered stones, protecting the pile against the raids of the other boys, while the girls stood
to the side, talking amongst themselves (365). This reminds me of the boys will be boys
comments that our society has used to explain away the rowdiness of boys in contrast to the mild
manners that most girls present with. The story moves on to describe the activities of the men and
women, in much the same way. The men are standing around talking about planting and rain,
tractors and taxes (365), these would be considered men s things in past and present society. The
women greeted one another and exchanged bits of gossip, which is the image of women that
society presents to us. Nothing in the activities, to this point, reveals the horrific scene that will

The Middle Ages came right after the fall of the Roman Empire because of its lack of centralized
religion and its inability to deal with the raids of the nomadic and germanic tribes. Compared to all
the revolutionary advancements of the Roman Empire, many considered the Middle Ages to be a
big step back in lifestyle, education and technological advancements. The The Middle Ageshave
been defined as many things. It has been called the Age of Feudalism, The Golden Age, and the

Proposed New Tax Legislation Affecting Salary Sacrifice for the Provision of Benefits in Kind
At the Budget 2016 the government announced that due to concerns over the rising cost of salary
sacrifice, it would consider limiting the range of benefits in kind (BIK) that attract income tax and
National Insurance Contributions (NIC) advantages when provided as part of salary sacrifice
arrangements. Following this Budget announcement, on 10th August HMRC published a
consultation document which sets out a high level proposal for the future tax treatment of BIK
offered via salary sacrifice.
The consultation period will run from 10th August to 19th October, and during this time Willis
Towers Watson will be reviewing the proposals together with industry bodies, as well as looking at
what providers have to say, before responding to HMRC. The proposal may be subject to change
and/or clarification following the consultation period. The government expects to make an
announcement on decision made following the consultation in the Autumn Statement 2016.

The Wade Davis bill demanded that fifty percent of a Confederate states male voter population
take the ironclad oath before reentering the Union. However, President Lincoln used his pocket

One could argue that the characters own lust for money and material objects caused them to take
the job transporting the nitroglycerine, and it is their own fault for what happened. After all,
when the American oil company went in search of people to hire for the task, they made it very
clear what the dangers were, and were entirely honest with the drivers about the possible
consequences that they could face. If this argument is to hold fast then, the reasons that the four
men, Mario, Bimba, Luigi, and Jo, accepted the job must be explored more closely. Was it only
the lust for money that caused them to put themselves in danger, or did they have other motives?
To answer this question, the first two characters that should be looked at are Jo and Mario. These
are the two characters who undergo the largest character development throughout the film, and
