An Analysis of Transformational Leadership
An Analysis of Transformational Leadership
BSP045 Work Psychology
B010898 Cheng Chen
Introduction
Since the early 1980s, there has been an explosion of interest on transformational leadership among
scholars and managers. It is shown with evidence that the desire and effectiveness of transformational
leadership style are universal (Den Hartog, et al., 1999, and Bass, et al. 2006). This leadership style, as
its name implies, is a process which tends to change and transform individuals (Northouse, 2004). To
help followers grow and develop into leaders, transformational leaders respond to individual followers
needs and empower them (Bass, et al. 2006). It is also concerned with emotions, values, ethics,
standards, and long term goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
 Management by exception: Corrective transactional dimensions. Active management by exception
is the behaviour that a leader monitors followers closely for mistakes and intervenes with corrective
direction. Passive form involves correction only after requirements have not been met or problems
emerge.
On the active passive leadership continuum, the full range places transformational, transactional, and
laissez faire leadership, of which the last one represents the absence of leadership. Originally from
French, laissez faire is a phrase which implies a hands off, let things ride approach. In this way,
leaders take no responsibility, provide no feedback, and ignore followers needs (Northouse, 2004).
Considering a global context and culture variation, Bass (1997) argued that transactional and
transformational leadership can transcend all parts of the globe and all forms of organizations.
Advantages of Transformational Leadership
After a long time development and refinement, the Transformational Leadership model and instrument
have been widely used, because it has several strengths as follows:
First, plenty of both qualitative and quantitative studies for transformational leadership have been
conducted

Nursing in 3D: Diversity, Disparities, and Social Determinants
The Social Determinants of Health: It s
Time to Consider the Causes of the Causes
Paula Braveman, MD, MPHa
Laura Gottlieb, MD, MPHb
ABSTRACT
During the past two decades, the public health community s attention has been drawn increasingly to
the social determinants of health (SDH) the factors apart from medical care that can be influenced by
social policies and shape health in powerful ways. We use medical care rather than health care to refer
to clinical services, to avoid potential confusion between health and health care. The World Health
Organization s Commission on the Social Determinants of Health has defined SDH as the conditions

McKeown attributed the dramatic increases in life expectancy since the 19th century primarily to
improved living conditions, including nutrition, sanitation, and clean water.23 While advances in
medical care also may have contributed,23 26 most authors believe that nonmedical factors, including
conditions within the purview of traditional public health, were probably more important;24 public
health nursing, including its role in advocacy, may have played an important role in improved living
standards.27 Another example of the limits of medical care is the widening of mortality disparities
between social classes in the United Kingdom in the decades following the creation of the National
Health Service in
1948, which made medical care universally accessible.28
Using more recent data, Martinson found that although health overall was better in the United
Kingdom than in the United States, which lacks universal coverage, disparities in health by income
were similar in the two countries.29 Large inequalities in health according to social class have been
documented repeatedly across different European countries, again despite more universal access to
medical care.30 32
Another often cited example of the limits of medical care is the fact that, although spending on

The Gettysburg Address By President Abraham Lincoln
The Gettysburg Address was a speech composed and addressed by President Abraham Lincoln in
1863, at the time of the political fight in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. At that time, Abraham Lincoln was
the President of the United States. He was also the President who led America through the Civil War.
During the Civil War, at Gettysburg, some soldiers died protecting the nation. This was mentioned in
Lincoln s speech, which was meant to be dedicated to the soldiers who died defending their people.
He spoke of how a piece of land on Earth should be dedicated in their memory in order to show
respect for dead soldiers. The Gettysburg Address was an effective way of President Abraham Lincoln

Mencken criticized Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, saying that it made no sense. To Mencken, the
speech was just one of Lincoln s political moves to gain more fame and win the people s support, and
Lincoln speech was untrue because Mencken believed that the speech was just mere words to soothe
the listener. Mencken gave the opinion which he felt was right regarding the message Abraham
Lincoln presented at the Gettysburg Address, by criticizing it as being eloquent , poetry and said that
its beauty undercuts its logic , sense and truth .(Mencken 1920, 775). However, it was not true because
during the speech in Gettysburg, Lincoln proved to the people that he was not just saying these things
because they was eloquent and had beauty , but, because he had plans for the growth of the nation
after the Civil War. Mencken presented Lincolns speech as It is difficult to imagine anything more
untrue (Mencken 1920, 775). Imagine the way the people behaved before the Civil War. They was
slavery in the South; The North, with the help of Lincoln, the Northerners gained their freedom
because, Lincoln stated the war was a test on the nation Now we are engaged in a great civil war,
testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure (Abraham
Lincoln, 774). One of the major objections to Mencken s idea of the speech was to state

Descriptive Essay About Metropolitan Museum
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and finest art museums in the world. The
museum s collection consists of prehistory and present artifacts from every part of the globe. The
Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at 5th avenue and 82nd street in New York City. On Monday,
November 5th, my brother and I took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum. It was a very long journey to
get there. When we arrived at 34th street, we took the E train and transferred to Lexington Avenue to
get to 86th street. From there we walked a couple blocks to get to the Metropolitan Museum. The
reason why I took my brother is because he loves museums, so wanted someone who would not want
to leave the museum after a short period of time due to lack of interest. Not only I enjoyed this trip,
but also my brother enjoyed it maybe even more. Although this isn t the first time that I visit the
Metropolitan museum, every visit never fails to amaze me by how massive it is. Not only the
Metropolitan Museum is imposing from how it s beautifully designed from the outside, but also the
inside of the building is mind boggling from the great amount of priceless of artwork it contains.
When my brother and I first entered the doors of the museum, he was blown away. He couldn t believe
how enormous the museum actually is. Not only local New Yorkers took a visit that day, but also
Tourists from around the world. Our trip mostly focused upon Islamic and Ancient Egyptian art and

The Potential Effects of Developing Technology Essay
Technology is a tool created by the human race to enhance its ability to learn and grow as a collective
group. Humans taper these tools, created through technological process, to their uniquely specific
needs. Technology, when used in a morally sound way, can have immense benefits that help a culture
grow and develop effectively as demonstrated by the society in Aldous Huxley s novel Brave New
World; however technology can be a double edged sword in the sense that it has the power to destroy
as demonstrated in Arthur C. Clarke s novel 2001 A Space Odyssey. When this is coupled with its own
unreliability, technology can be a challenge for those who seek to control and master its enigmas.

a shield {with} the World State s motto: Community, Identity, Stability, (Aldous Huxley p1). In this
fictional account of Earth, technology is used to keep people safe and orderly. The motto refers to the
way people live and interact in the society. Everyone feels wanted and included making society a safe
and stable place for everyone to learn and grow. No one is abandoned; everyone has a place where
they belong. Through the use of technology, an individual or a group of people can work together to
bring themselves into a new era of prosperity and security. Technology has the potential to be greatly
rewarding to those who choose to use it in good conscience but if those people were to use technology
in a less responsible way then there could be daunting consequences looming in the distance.
Everyone has their own opinion of how technology should be used and in which direction it should be
allowed to progress. These varying ideals create friction between the different factions that control
technology. Eventually these varying views on the use of technology lead to conflict. In the final
moments of Arthur C. Clark s 2001 A Space Odyssey, The United States and The Soviet Union nearly

Duel Language Learning English Language Research Paper
Nearly all schools in America serve students of different cultures, yet the way that we teach in these
schools does not reflect that at all. Schools are struggling to teach in ways that foster the learning of
all students, primarily because almost all teachers in American schools are White, middle class
females, who have never needed to teach diversely before. With an ever increasing percentage of
diverse people in the United States, this White European style of teaching needs to be altered, so that
all children are able to learn and feel comfortable in their school environment. The first way that

culture views how American s teach in a different way, and as a future educator, it is my responsibility
to ensure that not only the children feel comfortable with the way that I teach, but that the parents do
also. I know that it is going to be impossible to make sure that each parent feels comfortable with
every teaching strategy that I use, but that they know that I am trying to make an effort to include their
culture in my classroom. One way that I have thought about doing this is to do home visits before
school starts. This will allow me to explain to the parents what my goals are or the school year and ask

Gay Parenting And Adoption
Gay parenting and adoption LGBT couples have existed for a very long time, and they have been
raising children for years and years, but discrimination has led these people to hide from society
(which in its majority is heterosexual.) However, on recent years there has been a decrease in
discrimination and prejudice against lesbians and gay men, leading to more people Coming out and
accepting their sexual preferences; which has led more LGBT people to freely perform normal
activities as couples, e.g., encouraging themselves to adopt children, and do things that seem as
normal to heterosexual couples.
This raises a question, why is LGBT adoption such a controversial topic? To answer this question we
need to go deep into politics and religion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 2000, census data showed that number had risen to one in five for male couples and one in three
for female couples. Based on these estimates, at least 250,000 children nationwide are being raised by
same sex couples. Census analysts note that these numbers may be significantly underestimated,
because many gays and lesbians do not self report their sexual orientation to the government. (Further,
census data indicate that lesbian and gay households can be found in 99 percent of all U.S. counties.)
However, the census reveals close to nothing without detailed information of the [private] lives of the
individuals. Which would be considered unconstitutional, and is would never be done inside the US.
But what exactly happens when homosexual couples are allowed to be foster parents? We have yet to

effect July 24, and since same sex adoption was legal before that, this does not change the conclusion
regarding how gay couples have an effect on their adopted children, if they have an effect at

One of the most important ideas is that though the increasing demand and materialism, the low wage
worker will always be in demand because it will always be cheaper to outsource that work to third

our clothing do not have any rules or regulations for their employee s safety nor do they have any
regulations for polluting the environment thus creating many health problems in countries where the
people have no power to do anything about these issues. One more important argument that the film

Relationship Between Layoffs And Voluntary Turnover
Relationship between Layoffs and Voluntary Turnover As the world accelerates in advancements such
as technology, the society is now capable of reaching greater heights in efficiency more than ever. The
benefit of efficiency is not wasting any limited resources and time; however, it is not much so when
business owners attempt to become more efficient by laying off their employees. In the business field,
this strategy is called downsizing and it reduces the number of employees to operate the business more

Psychological Spillover. This implies that a layoff experience gives a looser tie to the subsequent
employment, which means that an individual feels psychological contract violations and amplified
feelings of distrust, job insecurity, and he or she pays a greater attention to external job opportunities.
These are all factors that can potentially lead to voluntary turnover. A psychological contract is the
reciprocal exchange agreement between employee and employing organization, as perceived by the
worker. A new employee has this general schema ( a set of expectations) of a psychological contract
between him and his employer and when he is laid off, it negatively impacts the same general schema
and it transfers over to his subsequent employment. Accordingly, once he starts working at his new
job, he has lower expectations and feels less obligated to the employer leading to an increased
likelihood of voluntary turnover. It is a similar situation with the other factors. When an individual is
laid off and finds a new employment, he will start off with the corresponding trust and job security he
felt when he was laid off which was heavily brought down thus far, and he pays a greater attention to
external job opportunities because he does not trust nor feel a sturdy job security, therefore leading up

The Cause of Globalization
Garrett / CAUSES OF GLOBALIZATION COMPARATIVE POLITICAL STUDIES / August
September 2000 The most important causes of globalization differ among the three major components
of international market integration: trade, multinational production, and international finance. The
information technology revolution has made it very difficult for governments to control cross border
capital movements, even if they have political incentives to do so. Governments can still restrict the
multinationalization of production, but they have increasingly chosen to liberalize because of the
macroeconomic benefits. Although the one time Ricardian gains from freer trade are clear, whether
trade is good for growth in the medium term is less certain. In the case of ... Show more content on

What are the causal relationships among these three trends? The second perspective, technological
determinism, contends that the shrinkage of time and space has been so dramatic and so pervasive that
there is essentially nothing that can be done to stop it. According to this view, technological changes
have propelled international economic activity, and governments have been largely irrelevant. Thus,
policy liberalization should be understood as governments acknowledging the futility of trying to
resist globalization, rather than acting as a prime mover behind market integration. Management gurus
such as Ohmae (1995) have propounded this view, and political scientists such as Rosecrance (1999)
and Strange (1998) use it as the starting point of their analyses. The case for a technologically
determined view of globalization is far stronger with respect to international finance than to
multinational production or trade. In the era of 24 hour global trading in a seemingly limitless array of
financial instruments, governments can only hope marginally to influence control cross border liquid
capital movements. In contrast, though 2. See Drezner (1998) and Guillen (in press) for recent reviews

Video Number Three Presentations From Baroness Glenys...
Video number three featured three presentations from Baroness Glenys Thornton, Clifford Harding,
and Henry Bonsu. All three of these presentations involved the different perspectives that can take
place in education, particularly in Great Britain and how these minority groups are currently viewed as
inferior within Great Britain.
Baroness Glenys Thornton took a larger sociological approach toward the underrepresentation of
minorities. Her presentation was based on the diversity of the members of the British parliament as
well as the diversity of the other portions of the British government. She stated that minority groups
are underrepresented by a margin of about three percent of the current population in the British
parliament.
Clifford Harding took a more individualized approach to this issue. Clifford didn t really grow up in
the best living conditions, and he was involved in some questionable things such as drugs. He said that
was often told that he was dumb and stupid when he was in school (mainly due to the fact that he was
dyslexic) and that it would be safe to say that these taunts would discourage many people from
continuing their education if they were faced with these messages.
Henry Bonsu added onto Clifford Harding s message in his presentation. Bonsu s message was that we

Prejudice And Ethnic Cleansing
Prejudice: a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Ethnic Cleansing:
an extreme version of acting on prejudices by the mass expulsion or killing of members of an
unwanted ethnic or religious group in a society. These two phrases have the power to change the
course of history and leave an unimaginable number hurt in its wake. The most well known example
of prejudice leading to ethnic cleansing is that of Nazi Germany and despite lack of coverage, has not
been the only one. On the contrary, there has been numerous account of prejudice and ethnic cleansing
in more countries including our own, in regards to the Japanese Internment. Thus, residents of the US
cannot express the ideology of its always them, not us from the small information learned in school. In
fact, these same phrases are still in effect today with the events transpiring in Darfur. It is a painful
trend of events that one could argue as being part of the human condition; Yet without proper
reflection of ourselves and the world who can say what is true for the human race.
Take a minute and think about the word Genocide. From this word only, many will provide the
example of Nazi Germany. From 1934 1945, the Nazi Party began a hunt for cleansing Germany of
the Jews, who were unjustly held responsible for why Germany hit hard times. Furthermore, the Jews

Igor Ansoff was a Russian/American mathematician who applied his work to the world of business.
His most famous work is the Ansoff Matrix. The purpose of this matrix is to help managers consider
how to grow their business through existing or new products or in existing or new markets. By using
this Matrix,he was helping managers to assess the differing degrees of risk associated with moving
their organisation forward.
Marketing strategies
Ansoff s Matrix suggests 4 alternative marketing strategies which hinge on whether products are new
or existing. They also focus on whether a market is new or existing. Within each strategy there is a
differing level of risk. The four strategies are such as:
1. Market penetration This involves increasing market share within existing market segments. This
can be achieved by selling more products/services to established customers or by finding new
customers within existing markets.
2. Product development This involves developing new products for existing markets. Product
development involves thinking about how new products can meet customer needs more closely and
outperform the products of competitors.
3. Market development This strategy entails finding new markets for existing products. Market

girl, I grew up in a crazy and chaotic family. My parents treated me very well. I wasn t told that I had
to be perfect and they let me become the person I am today. Because I am the baby of the family, my
parents are far more lenient with me than they were with my older siblings. Just like so many other
parents who have been worn out from parenting teens, they have set fewer rules for me to follow and
rarely check up on me.
My dad was always the type of person to misbehave with me before I went to bed, ultimately, making
me not so tired anymore He would always wrestle with me and make me laugh whenever I didn t want
to and he still does. Whenever I would get in a wreck with my bike or accidentally fall down, he
would tell me to suck it up, so I did. If I wanted to even start to complain about something, or cry, I
would never go to my dad about it because he would tell me, You re fine Brenna. He also showed me
how to have fun in a good way. My dad is not the type to care as much about the opinions of others.
He taught me that I am a unique individual and I don t need to fake my personality for others
approval. My mother is someone I have always admired. She puts the entire family s feelings before
her own. If I m happy so is my mom. She taught me the golden rule; treat people the way I want to be
treated. Life isn t perfect and it most definitely isn t fun unless you are

Meriwether Lewis Conspiracy
Meriwether Lewis the governor of the New Louisiana territory. And was the leader of the Lewis and
Clark expedition to go and search westward of the United States of America. And on way to
Washington D.C his last journey he suddenly died of gunshot wounds at Grinder s Stand. People for
the last 200 years said it was a suicide. But what if I told you I have another theory. That it was murder
by conspiracy. That Meriwether Lewis was murdered by conspiracy instead of suicide. And I m here
to tell you why.
Meriwether Lewis was shot two times. One in the head and one in the chest. If it was suicide how
could he fired two shots into his body? Both shots are fatal and would have rendered him unable to
move. For him to pick up the gun, reload it and

Dearest Mother, The food here isn t up to much, but I did receive your package and oh my it was
delightful. Thank you dearly. How are you and Norman doing at home? I know that myself and my
brothers are doing just fine, aside from healing injures. I do know do much of their field as I am still

wound but they are considering rendering him invalid as he will never have the same movement back
required to be the dispatch rider. He cannot be moved to defence as he has no experience but he may
soon be at home joining you. As you must know, I have been promoted to the Royal Field of Artillery.
I am not on the front line but somewhat close to it. My field of expertise has helped me reach this

Students Overall Learning Environment And Negatively...
Certain schools around the United States have researched many books that could be disruptive to
students overall learning environment and negatively impact teen s transitions into adulthood. A
banned book or challenged book is book that the government thinks the contents inside are wrong for
the minds of the person. Some books are banned by the government or school systems due to what
students are able to read. Books can be banned due to sexual reference, controversial religious
viewpoints, and the use of drugs. For these reasons, schools are banning many books. Even though
themes presented in books are not relative to what schools actually teach, schools may still decide to
ban certain books. Stories in some banned books can show students great adventures, such as Into the
Wild by Jon Krakauer, and motivate readers to live their lives while they can, which is especially
relevant in today s society where technology can run people s lives. Even though Into the Wild by Jon
Krakauer is considered too controversial of a book because of its anti authority and adult themes; but,
the story it tells should still be taught to students because it is a valuable coming of age book for teens.
Jon Krakauer was born in 1954 in Brookline, Massachusetts, and then moved to Corvallis, Oregon,
when he was two years old. He is known for writing in the genre of nonfiction, and some of his major
works include: Into the Wild (1996), Into Thin Air (1997), Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of

Mergers And Acquisitions ( M S Essay
Mergers and Acquisitions (M A) is a term referring to the consolidation of companies or assets. A
merger is a combination of two companies forming to become a new company, and an acquisition is
the purchase of one company by another in which no new company is formed (investopedia.com). The
term M A also refers to the department of financial institutions that deal with mergers and acquisitions.
Every merger and acquisition has its own reasons based on organizational goals.
Mergers can help with entering emerging markets, cutting costs, and gaining competitive advantages.
There is increased pressure for publicly traded companies to raise their earnings. If it cannot be done
inside the company, they might seek to acquire companies to boost earnings. Additionally, the internet
and technology advancements have brought about off shoring of white collar jobs and made merging
with competitors easier.
There are four stages organizations undergo when a merger is decided. The first stage of a merger and
acquisition is the pre deal or pre merger and acquisition; it includes finding compatible business
ventures and partners to assess potential targets and develops a plan for execution (HR Focus, 2005).
Organizations planning to go through a merger or acquisition must consider the legal implications
including equal employment opportunities. HR must examine the policies of both companies and
ensure employees are properly trained. Training should include harassment, disability, and

Networking and Privacy in the Changing World
The world is changing very fast. With the introduction of networking the speed with which the
technology is changing is beyond imagination. One has to be very smart and keep updating himself to
keep pace with the changing world. Most of the time we are not even aware of how and what all is
changing around us. Most people just keep imagining things to acquire and attain knowledge that may
be useful to them at a later stage. While doing so we don t even realize or imagine what all we are
loosing. The most important thing we are losing is privacy of our personal information. All the info
about each individual is available on the net these days. Where is the secret of our personal life?
Imagine the era of Adam and Eve; even they were not spared for their personal secrets of life at that
age. As a result we can t even imagine the state of affairs in today s life. More so personal data these
days have become so important that for all types of decision making the same is being utilized. Say for
getting a loan, a license or for that matter a job, the personal and professional information of the
individual for checking the reputation is from the info available on the net. The government so makes
use of the same while investigating the individuals, be it at the airports or for any other investigations
that they may have. All this is being done without ascertaining the correctness of the data about the
individual that is available on the net. As a result we are all virtually

However, this statement made by Twain does not work with Christopher Nolan. While other directors

Nolan s major key to success; he is known for many dark movies, Batman Begins, Batman: The Dark

superheroes. How can superheroes be considered dark? In these superhero movies (The Batman

King Lear Poverty
The Tragedy of King Lear, is an epitaph of a fading old King. This is a play about old age; rather than
the rise and fall of youth. Death is the finale of every human; this is what makes life so fruitful. The
task to accomplish for the elderly is to have their youth bear the memory of their flesh; so that their
life is not forgotten. The responsibility of any father is to improve the quality of life for their children.
The purpose of this assignment is to argue that The Tragedy of King Lear demonstrates how poverty
and weakness can bring a person to empathy and appreciation of life. Wealth, emotions and
appearance can distort judgement. Arrogance can be easily gained through wealth and contaminate a
person s thoughts and perception. The play begins near the retirement and end of Lear s life. This
initiates a tone in the play where the knowledge of Lear s death is foreshadowed. Lear had decided to
divide his empire into sections for his trusted successors. The passing of his land into younger hands
was meant to plant the seeds of his legacy. Lear thought that he could see into ... Show more content

Lear came to his senses through misery and the loss of Cordelia. Absurdity was seen through the eyes
of his Fool. The Fool knew that Lear was the person who was manipulated. The fool knew as well;
that Lear was tricked by his daughters. The fool attempted to illustrate to Lear through songs that he
was completely oblivious about his own life. That lord that copunsell d thee To give away thy land,

The Legality Of Physician Assisted Dying
In 1997 a Supreme Court case, Washington v Glucksberg, questioned the status quo asserting that a
physician should not be allowed to legally assist a terminally ill individual if he or she wishes to die.
While the plaintiffs lost, the case made clear that several people in the country were questioning the
status quo. The legality of physician assisted dying (PAD), synonymous with death with dignity,
ultimately rests on the opinions of the public (which are often religiously and politically influenced)
and therefore is dependent on a theory known as system justification (New York University). (System
justification states that people will accept and even defend a status quo, simply because it is the norm.)
This case was one of the many steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us take a second to truly understand dignity. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines dignity as, the
quality or state of being worthy, honored, and esteemed as well as, formal reserve for seriousness of
manner, appearance, or language. That being said, a dignified death, which would bring back a sense
of power to a person otherwise without control of their life, should be done in a way that shows
respect for one s self. For the sake of uniformity we will look at the federal government in this matter,
as well as solely focusing on people who are terminally ill and wish to die by their own means, in a
dignified manner. As I stated, the Supreme Court upheld in 1997 that assisted suicide ought to be
criminalized, as well as asserting that people do not have a right to die (The Kevorkian Verdict). With
that said, despite a few state outliers, if an individual is in a circumstance where they wish to die, they
have no other option than to take the matter into their own hands. Methods of suicide contain firearm,
strangulation or suffocation, falling or jumping, and poisoning or drug overdoses, all ranging in
effectiveness (NSPL). Imagine an individual that only has a few more months to live, and wants to
regain control of their life. They can no longer go to the bathroom alone, and are constantly being
monitored. They no longer wish to live, and they want to die in a dignified way. This person, in the
status quo, has the options I

Analysis Of Yanggaw Or Affliction By Richard Somes
Yanggaw or Affliction (2008) by Richard Somes is a story of family struggle as they deal with their
daughter s (Amor) transformation into an aswang (monster) due to an unidentified illness. Amor, a
loving and courteous daughter, morphs into a monster that lives on the blood of others every midnight.
Such transformation leads to several conflicts within the family and the community. This paper will
discuss the conflicts in the family in relation to Amor s transformation and how it affected their
relationship with one another.
When Amor exhibited signs of illness, the family consulted a supernatural faith healer named Lazarus
but to no avail. The situation escalates and Amor is found near a river with blood all over her mouth
and body. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rest of the family, on the other hand, believes that the Amor they had known and loved before has
already fused with the evil. Inday says to his husband, Junior, Your daughter is a beast. This implies
the belief that in some way, Amor is already a beast, no matter how hard she try to fight this evil
persona. Inday acknowledges that this reality cannot be changed anymore so the last resort is to chain
their daughter to prevent her from killing people from the community. These two conflicting
perspectives threaten their relationships with one another. Junior invokes his patriarchal power in the
family and decides to unchain Amor despite objections from the rest of the family. Inday and the rest
protest against this patriarchy and choose to leave Junior and Amor in search of a more peaceful life.
Eventually, they return as they realize that they should stick together as one family to face the tragedy
of Amor s transformation. This illustrates how the duality of identity created through the intervention
of the aswang can bring out the best and the worst in people. On one hand, the tragedy resulted to the
clash of beliefs which threatened the family relationship but it also brought back the family together to
face the

Comparing Identity In Ratatouille, And Disney-Pixar s
Identity, what is identity? Is it who we think we are? Or is it who we want to be? Perhaps it is even
how others see us? My Father s Axe by Tim Winton and Disney Pixar s Ratatouille both make viewers
consider the identities of the main characters and how sometimes, how society sees us or who we want
to be can be in conflict with whom we really are. In Winton s short story, the protagonist tries to be a
good man, good husband and a good father, but all these things he wants to be is diminishing his true
self. While in the movie Ratatouille , Linguini has become a famous cook through the help of his
talented little friend . After he reaches the peak of the cooking world in France, he slowly realises that
his true self is just as important as how society sees him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He could swing an axe, my Father , this imagery presents to readers the persona s high regards
towards his father. It is also hinting the persona s amazement seeing his father s ability and how he
wants to become like his father in the future. The idiom within my mother called me the man of the
house, which frightened me a little highlights how his mother has acknowledged him as the provider
of the family but it is evident that he does not agree to this idea. This further emphasises how other
people see us can define us more than who we really are. I saw my father ball his handkerchief up and
bit on it to muffle his sobs . The identity crisis is not only affecting the main character but also his
father. The example underline the notion of how our individual identity does not define who we are
but how others see us that actually make up our identity. This theme of being yourself is not always
how society will perceive you is also explored in the movie

Police Officers Die From Vehicle Crashes Alone
Every year about 60 police officers die from vehicle crashes alone. About another 90 police officers
die from other related causes every year. Vehicle accidents are the top twenty leading causes of death.
Police officers are paid a significant amount of money because their job can be very dangerous at
times. Police officers spend most of their time in a police cruiser and when an incident occurs, they
should be able to rely on the vehicle to get them there safely or to keep them safe. Police cruisers
should have top of the line equipment and safety features just in case of a crash.
Every year approximately 32,000 people die from motor vehicle crashes and about three and a half
million people are injured from a motor crash (Quick Facts 2014). Police cruisers are designed more
efficiently and safely so that police officers have a slighter chance of being hurt in the field. Whether it
is chasing after a fleeing suspect or completing a traffic stop, an officer should be able to feel
comfortable in their vehicle to keep them safe in a bad situation. In the Police Chief Magazine John
Batiste noted, 42 percent of law enforcement officers killed in traffic crashes were not wearing a
seatbelt. Police departments could have prevented many deaths if there was a policy that required
officers to wear their seat belts. Police officers should not give someone a ticket for not wearing their
seat belt if they are incapable of wearing their own.

Indentured Servants In New England
3. Indentured servants were very important to the development of the colonies. In the early years,
there were labor shortages and indentured servants provided cheap labor. By bringing in people with
specialized skills and providing immigration for other who could not afford, indentured servitude
helped the colonies expand. The colonies had a lot of land, and indentured servants made up half the
population (parliament announced that convicts could escape the hangman by relocating to the
colonies.)This led to a quicker progress of initial growth of the colonies. Although this system helped
with the growth of the colonies, it was replaced by the 1700 s with slaves. The reason was that slaves
served for life instead of servants who served for 4 7 years. This was more profitable than buying
servants over and over again. Also, once you owned a slave you owned their children, which was a
bonus because you wouldn t have to buy any more slaves. Overall, slaves replaced servants because
they were more profitable to buy and the supplies of these slaves seemed inexhaustible since there

Colonists participated in international and imperial trade by using the triangular trade. Although, out
of necessity, the colonies sent raw materials, such as fish and fur, to England in exchange for
manufactured goods. In order to protect England s agriculture and fisheries put taxes on goods. This
resulted in the New York and New England to buy more from England than they sold. To avoid this,
the colonies started using their own ships and merchants, this formed the triangular trade. The
triangular trade allowed New Englanders to ship rum to the west coast of Africa, where they
exchanged for slaves; took the enslaved Africans to the West Indies; and returned home with various
commodities, including molasses from which they manufactured rum. The triangular trade allowed the

Quiz All Over Our Faces !
This Panel Show, entitled Quiz All Over Our Faces! , will be an amalgamation of several different
modern TV shows of the same vein, borrowing certain aspects but not making, per say, a carbon copy
of the panel shows in question. Through this we plan to create something that is not so much original
but a fresh take on the formula of the panel show. The majority of shows which influence will be
drawn from will be of a comedic disposition. So in saying that, the set up of the show will be, that two
teams comprised of two people will compete against one another through a number of sections and
based on how they perform a points system will distinguish as to who the winning side is a all times
The host of the show being the one who puts these challenges to them and distinguishes who is the
victor at the end of each section. Like most shows we will begin with an opening VT, comprised of
motion graphics and pre recorded material that will be added in. The motion graphics themselves will
be created with the programme After Effects and for a more efficient work flow, an online template
will be used. The pre recorded material will be of the guests and possibly previous content which has
recorded in the studio. At this point in the show both a colour scheme, a flavour of what the show is
about and the name of the show will be established. Moving on from this, the Host will introduce
himself and then the contestants either side of him, lower thirds used respectively for each

Crime measurement and statistics for police departments are very important when it comes to money

Each year, data are obtained from a nationally representative sample of about 90,000 households,
comprising nearly 160,000 persons, on the frequency, characteristics, and consequences of criminal
victimization in the United States. Each household is interviewed twice during the year. The survey
enables BJS to estimate the likelihood of victimization by rape or sexual assault, robbery, aggravated
and simple assault, theft, household burglary, and motor vehicle theft for the population as a whole as
well as for segments of the population such as women, the elderly, members of various racial or ethnic
groups, city dwellers, and other groups. The NCVS provides the largest national forum for victims to
describe the impact of crime and characteristics of violent offenders.
The National Incident Based Reporting System is currently being tested to replace the Uniform Crime

  • 2. An Analysis of Transformational Leadership An Analysis of Transformational Leadership BSP045 Work Psychology B010898 Cheng Chen Introduction Since the early 1980s, there has been an explosion of interest on transformational leadership among scholars and managers. It is shown with evidence that the desire and effectiveness of transformational leadership style are universal (Den Hartog, et al., 1999, and Bass, et al. 2006). This leadership style, as its name implies, is a process which tends to change and transform individuals (Northouse, 2004). To help followers grow and develop into leaders, transformational leaders respond to individual followers needs and empower them (Bass, et al. 2006). It is also concerned with emotions, values, ethics, standards, and long term goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...  Management by exception: Corrective transactional dimensions. Active management by exception is the behaviour that a leader monitors followers closely for mistakes and intervenes with corrective direction. Passive form involves correction only after requirements have not been met or problems emerge. On the active passive leadership continuum, the full range places transformational, transactional, and laissez faire leadership, of which the last one represents the absence of leadership. Originally from French, laissez faire is a phrase which implies a hands off, let things ride approach. In this way, leaders take no responsibility, provide no feedback, and ignore followers needs (Northouse, 2004). Considering a global context and culture variation, Bass (1997) argued that transactional and transformational leadership can transcend all parts of the globe and all forms of organizations. Advantages of Transformational Leadership After a long time development and refinement, the Transformational Leadership model and instrument have been widely used, because it has several strengths as follows: First, plenty of both qualitative and quantitative studies for transformational leadership have been conducted ... Health Equity Nursing in 3D: Diversity, Disparities, and Social Determinants The Social Determinants of Health: It s Time to Consider the Causes of the Causes Paula Braveman, MD, MPHa Laura Gottlieb, MD, MPHb ABSTRACT During the past two decades, the public health community s attention has been drawn increasingly to the social determinants of health (SDH) the factors apart from medical care that can be influenced by social policies and shape health in powerful ways. We use medical care rather than health care to refer to clinical services, to avoid potential confusion between health and health care. The World Health Organization s Commission on the Social Determinants of Health has defined SDH as the conditions in which people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McKeown attributed the dramatic increases in life expectancy since the 19th century primarily to improved living conditions, including nutrition, sanitation, and clean water.23 While advances in medical care also may have contributed,23 26 most authors believe that nonmedical factors, including conditions within the purview of traditional public health, were probably more important;24 public health nursing, including its role in advocacy, may have played an important role in improved living standards.27 Another example of the limits of medical care is the widening of mortality disparities between social classes in the United Kingdom in the decades following the creation of the National Health Service in 1948, which made medical care universally accessible.28 Using more recent data, Martinson found that although health overall was better in the United Kingdom than in the United States, which lacks universal coverage, disparities in health by income were similar in the two countries.29 Large inequalities in health according to social class have been documented repeatedly across different European countries, again despite more universal access to medical care.30 32 Another often cited example of the limits of medical care is the fact that, although spending on medical care in ... The Gettysburg Address By President Abraham Lincoln The Gettysburg Address was a speech composed and addressed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, at the time of the political fight in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. At that time, Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States. He was also the President who led America through the Civil War. During the Civil War, at Gettysburg, some soldiers died protecting the nation. This was mentioned in Lincoln s speech, which was meant to be dedicated to the soldiers who died defending their people. He spoke of how a piece of land on Earth should be dedicated in their memory in order to show respect for dead soldiers. Mencken criticized Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, saying that it made no sense. To Mencken, the speech was just one of Lincoln s political moves to gain more fame and win the people s support, and Lincoln speech was untrue because Mencken believed that the speech was just mere words to soothe the listener. Mencken gave the opinion which he felt was right regarding the message Abraham Lincoln presented at the Gettysburg Address, by criticizing it as being eloquent , poetry and said that its beauty undercuts its logic , sense and truth .(Mencken 1920, 775). However, it was not true because during the speech in Gettysburg, Lincoln proved to the people that he was not just saying these things because they was eloquent and had beauty , but, because he had plans for the growth of the nation after the Civil War. Mencken presented Lincolns speech as It is difficult to imagine anything more untrue (Mencken 1920, 775). Imagine the way the people behaved before the Civil War. They was slavery in the South; The North, with the help of Lincoln, the Northerners gained their freedom because, Lincoln stated the war was a test on the nation Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure (Abraham Lincoln, 774). • 5. Descriptive Essay About Metropolitan Museum The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and finest art museums in the world. The museum s collection consists of prehistory and present artifacts from every part of the globe. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at 5th avenue and 82nd street in New York City. On Monday, November 5th, my brother and I took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum. It was a very long journey to get there. When we arrived at 34th street, we took the E train and transferred to Lexington Avenue to get to 86th street. From there we walked a couple blocks to get to the Metropolitan Museum. The reason why I took my brother is because he loves museums, so wanted someone who would not want to leave the museum after a short period of time due to lack of interest. Not only I enjoyed this trip, but also my brother enjoyed it maybe even more. Although this isn t the first time that I visit the Metropolitan museum, every visit never fails to amaze me by how massive it is. Not only the Metropolitan Museum is imposing from how it s beautifully designed from the outside, but also the inside of the building is mind boggling from the great amount of priceless of artwork it contains. When my brother and I first entered the doors of the museum, he was blown away. He couldn t believe how enormous the museum actually is. Not only local New Yorkers took a visit that day, but also Tourists from around the world. Our trip mostly focused upon Islamic and Ancient Egyptian art and we found it to be ... Humans taper these tools, created through technological process, to their uniquely specific needs. Technology, when used in a morally sound way, can have immense benefits that help a culture grow and develop effectively as demonstrated by the society in Aldous Huxley s novel Brave New World; however technology can be a double edged sword in the sense that it has the power to destroy as demonstrated in Arthur C. Through the use of technology, an individual or a group of people can work together to bring themselves into a new era of prosperity and security. Technology has the potential to be greatly rewarding to those who choose to use it in good conscience but if those people were to use technology in a less responsible way then there could be daunting consequences looming in the distance. Everyone has their own opinion of how technology should be used and in which direction it should be allowed to progress. These varying ideals create friction between the different factions that control technology. Eventually these varying views on the use of technology lead to conflict. In the final moments of Arthur C. Clark s 2001 A Space Odyssey, The United States and The Soviet Union nearly destroyed all life on Earth with the technology they had at their disposal. The benefit of efficiency is not wasting any limited resources and time; however, it is not much so when business owners attempt to become more efficient by laying off their employees. In the business field, this strategy is called downsizing and it reduces the number of employees to operate the business more efficiently or especially during a crisis when the economy is unstable and the business cannot afford to maintain the current number of employees. This implies that a layoff experience gives a looser tie to the subsequent employment, which means that an individual feels psychological contract violations and amplified feelings of distrust, job insecurity, and he or she pays a greater attention to external job opportunities. A psychological contract is the reciprocal exchange agreement between employee and employing organization, as perceived by the worker. A new employee has this general schema ( a set of expectations) of a psychological contract between him and his employer and when he is laid off, it negatively impacts the same general schema and it transfers over to his subsequent employment. Accordingly, once he starts working at his new job, he has lower expectations and feels less obligated to the employer leading to an increased likelihood of voluntary turnover. It is a similar situation with the other factors. When an individual is laid off and finds a new employment, he will start off with the corresponding trust and job security he felt when he was laid off which was heavily brought down thus far, and he pays a greater attention to external job opportunities because he does not trust nor feel a sturdy job security, therefore leading up to an ... The Cause of Globalization Garrett / CAUSES OF GLOBALIZATION COMPARATIVE POLITICAL STUDIES / August September 2000 The most important causes of globalization differ among the three major components of international market integration: trade, multinational production, and international finance. The information technology revolution has made it very difficult for governments to control cross border capital movements, even if they have political incentives to do so. Governments can still restrict the multinationalization of production, but they have increasingly chosen to liberalize because of the macroeconomic benefits. What are the causal relationships among these three trends? The second perspective, technological determinism, contends that the shrinkage of time and space has been so dramatic and so pervasive that there is essentially nothing that can be done to stop it. According to this view, technological changes have propelled international economic activity, and governments have been largely irrelevant. Thus, policy liberalization should be understood as governments acknowledging the futility of trying to resist globalization, rather than acting as a prime mover behind market integration. Management gurus such as Ohmae (1995) have propounded this view, and political scientists such as Rosecrance (1999) and Strange (1998) use it as the starting point of their analyses. The case for a technologically determined view of globalization is far stronger with respect to international finance than to multinational production or trade. • 31. King Lear Poverty The Tragedy of King Lear, is an epitaph of a fading old King. This is a play about old age; rather than the rise and fall of youth. Death is the finale of every human; this is what makes life so fruitful. The task to accomplish for the elderly is to have their youth bear the memory of their flesh; so that their life is not forgotten. The responsibility of any father is to improve the quality of life for their children. The purpose of this assignment is to argue that The Tragedy of King Lear demonstrates how poverty and weakness can bring a person to empathy and appreciation of life. Wealth, emotions and appearance can distort judgement. Arrogance can be easily gained through wealth and contaminate a person s thoughts and perception. The play begins near the retirement and end of Lear s life. This initiates a tone in the play where the knowledge of Lear s death is foreshadowed. Lear had decided to divide his empire into sections for his trusted successors. The passing of his land into younger hands was meant to plant the seeds of his legacy. Lear thought that he could see into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The allure of wealth spoiled Gonerill and Regan. Lear came to his senses through misery and the loss of Cordelia. Absurdity was seen through the eyes of his Fool. The Fool knew that Lear was the person who was manipulated. The fool knew as well; that Lear was tricked by his daughters. The fool attempted to illustrate to Lear through songs that he was completely oblivious about his own life. • 32. The Legality Of Physician Assisted Dying In 1997 a Supreme Court case, Washington v Glucksberg, questioned the status quo asserting that a physician should not be allowed to legally assist a terminally ill individual if he or she wishes to die. While the plaintiffs lost, the case made clear that several people in the country were questioning the status quo. The legality of physician assisted dying (PAD), synonymous with death with dignity, ultimately rests on the opinions of the public (which are often religiously and politically influenced) and therefore is dependent on a theory known as system justification (New York University). (System justification states that people will accept and even defend a status quo, simply because it is the norm.) This case was one of the many steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let us take a second to truly understand dignity. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines dignity as, the quality or state of being worthy, honored, and esteemed as well as, formal reserve for seriousness of manner, appearance, or language. That being said, a dignified death, which would bring back a sense of power to a person otherwise without control of their life, should be done in a way that shows respect for one s self. For the sake of uniformity we will look at the federal government in this matter, as well as solely focusing on people who are terminally ill and wish to die by their own means, in a dignified manner. As I stated, the Supreme Court upheld in 1997 that assisted suicide ought to be criminalized, as well as asserting that people do not have a right to die (The Kevorkian Verdict). With that said, despite a few state outliers, if an individual is in a circumstance where they wish to die, they have no other option than to take the matter into their own hands. Methods of suicide contain firearm, strangulation or suffocation, falling or jumping, and poisoning or drug overdoses, all ranging in effectiveness (NSPL). Imagine an individual that only has a few more months to live, and wants to regain control of their life. They can no longer go to the bathroom alone, and are constantly being monitored. They no longer wish to live, and they want to die in a dignified way. This person, in the status quo, has the options I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Analysis Of Yanggaw Or Affliction By Richard Somes Yanggaw or Affliction (2008) by Richard Somes is a story of family struggle as they deal with their daughter s (Amor) transformation into an aswang (monster) due to an unidentified illness. Amor, a loving and courteous daughter, morphs into a monster that lives on the blood of others every midnight. Such transformation leads to several conflicts within the family and the community. This paper will discuss the conflicts in the family in relation to Amor s transformation and how it affected their relationship with one another. When Amor exhibited signs of illness, the family consulted a supernatural faith healer named Lazarus but to no avail. The situation escalates and Amor is found near a river with blood all over her mouth and body. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rest of the family, on the other hand, believes that the Amor they had known and loved before has already fused with the evil. Inday says to his husband, Junior, Your daughter is a beast. This implies the belief that in some way, Amor is already a beast, no matter how hard she try to fight this evil persona. Inday acknowledges that this reality cannot be changed anymore so the last resort is to chain their daughter to prevent her from killing people from the community. These two conflicting perspectives threaten their relationships with one another. Junior invokes his patriarchal power in the family and decides to unchain Amor despite objections from the rest of the family. Inday and the rest protest against this patriarchy and choose to leave Junior and Amor in search of a more peaceful life. Eventually, they return as they realize that they should stick together as one family to face the tragedy of Amor s transformation. This illustrates how the duality of identity created through the intervention of the aswang can bring out the best and the worst in people. On one hand, the tragedy resulted to the clash of beliefs which threatened the family relationship but it also brought back the family together to face the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Comparing Identity In Ratatouille, And Disney-Pixar s Identity, what is identity? Is it who we think we are? Or is it who we want to be? Perhaps it is even how others see us? My Father s Axe by Tim Winton and Disney Pixar s Ratatouille both make viewers consider the identities of the main characters and how sometimes, how society sees us or who we want to be can be in conflict with whom we really are. In Winton s short story, the protagonist tries to be a good man, good husband and a good father, but all these things he wants to be is diminishing his true self. While in the movie Ratatouille , Linguini has become a famous cook through the help of his talented little friend . After he reaches the peak of the cooking world in France, he slowly realises that his true self is just as important as how society sees him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This further emphasises how other people see us can define us more than who we really are. I saw my father ball his handkerchief up and bit on it to muffle his sobs . The identity crisis is not only affecting the main character but also his father. Vehicle accidents are the top twenty leading causes of death. Police officers are paid a significant amount of money because their job can be very dangerous at times. Police officers spend most of their time in a police cruiser and when an incident occurs, they should be able to rely on the vehicle to get them there safely or to keep them safe. Police cruisers should have top of the line equipment and safety features just in case of a crash. Every year approximately 32,000 people die from motor vehicle crashes and about three and a half million people are injured from a motor crash (Quick Facts 2014). Police cruisers are designed more efficiently and safely so that police officers have a slighter chance of being hurt in the field. Whether it is chasing after a fleeing suspect or completing a traffic stop, an officer should be able to feel comfortable in their vehicle to keep them safe in a bad situation. In the Police Chief Magazine John Batiste noted, 42 percent of law enforcement officers killed in traffic crashes were not wearing a seatbelt. Police departments could have prevented many deaths if there was a policy that required officers to wear their seat belts. Police officers should not give someone a ticket for not wearing their seat belt if they are incapable of wearing their own. More than 95 percent of the 9.6 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Indentured Servants In New England 3. Indentured servants were very important to the development of the colonies. In the early years, there were labor shortages and indentured servants provided cheap labor. By bringing in people with specialized skills and providing immigration for other who could not afford, indentured servitude helped the colonies expand. The colonies had a lot of land, and indentured servants made up half the population (parliament announced that convicts could escape the hangman by relocating to the colonies.)This led to a quicker progress of initial growth of the colonies. Although this system helped with the growth of the colonies, it was replaced by the 1700 s with slaves. The reason was that slaves served for life instead of servants who served for 4 7 years. This was more profitable than buying servants over and over again. Also, once you owned a slave you owned their children, which was a bonus because you wouldn t have to buy any more slaves. Overall, slaves replaced servants because they were more profitable to buy and the supplies of these slaves seemed inexhaustible since there population was matching the number of whites at that time and ... To avoid this, the colonies started using their own ships and merchants, this formed the triangular trade. The triangular trade allowed New Englanders to ship rum to the west coast of Africa, where they exchanged for slaves; took the enslaved Africans to the West Indies; and returned home with various commodities, including molasses from which they manufactured rum. This Panel Show, entitled Quiz All Over Our Faces! , will be an amalgamation of several different modern TV shows of the same vein, borrowing certain aspects but not making, per say, a carbon copy of the panel shows in question. Through this we plan to create something that is not so much original but a fresh take on the formula of the panel show. The majority of shows which influence will be drawn from will be of a comedic disposition. So in saying that, the set up of the show will be, that two teams comprised of two people will compete against one another through a number of sections and based on how they perform a points system will distinguish as to who the winning side is a all times The host of the show being the one who puts these challenges to them and distinguishes who is the victor at the end of each section. Like most shows we will begin with an opening VT, comprised of motion graphics and pre recorded material that will be added in. The motion graphics themselves will be created with the programme After Effects and for a more efficient work flow, an online template will be used. The pre recorded material will be of the guests and possibly previous content which has recorded in the studio. At this point in the show both a colour scheme, a flavour of what the show is about and the name of the show will be established. Moving on from this, the Host will introduce himself and then the contestants either side of him, lower thirds used respectively for each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
