XYZ Safety Office Business Plan
High rates of safety incidents on and off base clearly indicate the XYZ safety office is not operating at
its highest level of efficiency and effectiveness. After meeting with each member of the office and
speaking with the previous supervisor, I am confident in my team s ability to remedy the current
disconnect in team cohesion and move forward towards a shared objective. My plan is broken down
into immediate (30 days), short term (60 days), and long term objectives (120 days). In order to create
the most effective time over this timeframe, I will employ specific, and intentional, leadership
behaviors that include: individual consideration, inspirational motivation through implementation of a
shared vision, and intellectual stimulation through innovation and creativity. The most immediate step
in unifying the XYZ safety office is to get to know each individual One on one conversations create an

Athenian Civic Architecture
The Evolution of Athenian Civic Architecture through the Hellenistic Period
Evolution is the process in which there is a gradual development of something, from a simple to a very
complex form. No matter how we look at it, the theory of evolution is all around us. The world is
constantly evolving around us, strides and discoveries are being made in history, science, and
technology every day and will continue to do so long after our time on earth has ended. In order to
grow you have to start at a small base. From that base you must learn, adapt, and evolve into what you
are to become down the road. The Hellenistic period was a time in history that can be seen as a time of
evolution for an entire culture. Ancient architecture made a leap from ... Show more content on

Being able to take every aspect and have them work together in unison to help bring an architects idea
to life is something truly amazing. During the Hellenistic era, they were living on the borderline of the
history of mankind. The change involved the city environment as places of sharing, but above all
being humans. Cities, buildings, and machines were changing quickly, and people became aware of
the changes and quickly had to adapt to them. This could be seen as a process of evolution or mutation
as the cities are changing to fit their current inhabitants survival needs and dependencies. If the
architectural advances were not made during the Hellenistic period, chances are that architecture as a
whole would have continued to make advances, but not at the speed it originally did. The evolution of
architecture in the Hellenistic period opened the door for organized and structurally built cities. These
same techniques and concepts used then can be found in capital cities and suburban living spaces
around the world. This evolution had a heavy influence on the western world and how they construct
their own towns and cities. Because of this evolution, we are living in the comfort and sustainability of
the towns and cities we know and

Tulips In The Botany Of Desire By Michael Pollan
The Tulip has grown to be a symbol for beauty, grabbing the vain eye of humans all around the world
since the 1600 s. Associated with the bulbous plant is an everlasting craze, driving people into a frenzy
and showing the volatility of financial markets. The symbiotic relationship between humans and
plants has always been thought to benefit humans, but what if in fact the desire behind plants, in this
case the tulip, is their driving force for survival? In the book The Botany of Desire, the author Michael
Pollan hypothesizes that tulips have developed an evolutionary design to enhance beauty, making
them constantly desirable and reproducible. Although tulips serve no practical purpose, they are still
yearned for by humans and billions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are instinctively drawn to gorgeous flowers, much like the way bees are. One theory could have to
do with flowers being the precursor to fruits, which serve as a food source for humans. Since the
creation of mankind, humans have been built to be foragers, evolving to spy flowers in an abundant
landscape of colors. The humans that were successful foragers were the first to find sweet fruit to
sustain them and the ones to survive. This could have resulted in natural selection favoring good
foragers that could find fruits, remember their location, and differentiate them. This proposes the
thought that maybe all humans recognize floral beauty in the same way because we are products of
our ancestors, who evolved to be meticulous

Henry Fleming Quotes
Henry Fleming (the youth) is the main character in the book Red Badge of Courage. Henry enlists in
the Union Army during the US Civil War at a very young age and fights alongside other Union
soldiers in his first battle. However when faced with an immediate second battle Henry decides to run
and desert his unit. Henry is so tramatized by the dead and wounded soldiers that he sees during his
first conflict that he cannot accept walking straight into his own death. So he runs away as fast as he
can to save himself.
Henry fights in his first battle: Henry began to have second thoughts about fighting in the war as his
battalion got closer to their first battle. He thought that he must break from the ranks and harangue his
comrades. 1.

The War of 1812 and the Mexican American War are two wars that physically appear two opposites.
The War of 1812 involves plenty of naval battles and a few major land battles, while the Mexican
American War involves numerous land battles and few, if any, naval battles. However there are
numerous similarities.
The War of 1812, The US saw Great Britain as a major problem because of their definition of
contraband and the impressment of American sailors into the British Navy. And around this time the
warhawks are elected to the House of Representatives. They wanted war because the British were
supplying the Indian with guns and ammunition and encouraging Indian trouble.

Comparing Religion And Science From A Sociological Viewpoint
Question:1. Compare and contrast religion with science from a sociological viewpoint. Is science just
another form of religion, with people like physicist Stephen Hawking among its high priests or
mullah? Are science and religions simply both similar social constructions? In your response to this
question, specifically consider both how irrational social factors influence everything, and the
relationship between faith and proof. First of all, There are a number of debates about the similarities
and differences between religion with science from aspects of sociological. Then, in my opinion, is not
just the science with people who are the physicist or high priests and mullah shaped to religion.
Religion can be forming of culture, identity, relationship, practice, power and so on. Also, in the social
constructions, science and religions are two different territories to illustrate contemporary society. And
then, there are various unreasonable social factors influence science, religions and everything. Lastly, I
think that faith and proof are mutual, reasonable, independent. According to read the resources, there
are not authoritative and qualities definition of religions. Only, religion is typically viewed as
organised, communal, traditional and in decline . (Arvanitakis, James. Sociologic.) The understanding
of religions are more complexity and diversity and different people and groups have the different
meaning. Also, the science refers to organised,

Ethan Condos, Aztec s CEO, did not see this as a problem. We need to replace many of our machines
anyway. This provides us with the stimulus to do it and our calculations indicate that the deal would
give us a good return on the investment. Investment isn t the problem; it s the risks of doing the deal
which worry me. How do we know that we can cope with the increased variety? We will need to
increase the flexibility of our manufacturing operations to cope with this variety, while at the same
time reducing costs and maintaining quality levels. And can we achieve a minimum of 5 per cent
annual cost reduction? It s higher than we ve ever done before. They will help us by providing their

we have dropped our other customers I doubt if we could get them back easily. Most of all, are we

Analysis Of American Dance
My favorite dance was the contemporary routine with Derek, Jaja, and Alexia. The choreographer,
Stacey Tookey, explained that the piece was about bravery in different forms: Derek played a veteran,
Jaja was portraying a woman leaving an abusive relationship, and Alexia took on the role of a single
mother. I really enjoyed the dance because of the story it was trying to convey; each dancer dove into
character and brought out complex emotions through their movements. The dancers connected deeply
with each of their stories, even though they were completely different people. They were portraying
things that they had never personally experienced in their lives before. They showed the strengths of
the characters along with their weaknesses, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that the routine was not well put together. A necessary component in the piece was an overly
cocky, in your face attitude. The piece was set to Whuteva by Remy Ma, which reflects this attitude.
The dancers however, did not deliver. They weren t exuding the confidence that the piece demanded
from them and because of this, the music overshadowed the performers. I also disliked this piece
because of the costumes. Keeping in mind that this piece was supposed to have a loud, aggressive vibe
to it, the costumes did not really portray that for me. Instead, they were sloppy and distracting. They
also got in the way of some of the steps, such as when the dancers had to put their arms up in the air;
their hoodies were flying all over the place. At some points in the piece, some of the dancers visibly
push up their sleeves or adjust their clothing. The costumes did not elevate the performance, they were
a poor choice and detracted from the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plea Bargaining
Plea bargaining is when the prosecutor and defendant make an arrangement in which the defendant
pleads guilty to a lesser charge. In hopes with the Judge being lenient with their sentence. Many
criminal cases are based off of plea bargaining, it s a negotiation process where the defendant and the
prosecutor discuss what charges they will be accounted for if not all. Sometimes it may lead to a
reduced sentence, which also saves the time of everyone going through a trial and having to go
through the process of trying to solve a case. The judge can not be there through the discussion of the
plea bargain, and nor does a plea bargain take place in a court room. Plea bargaining is more of a
private situation with just the prosecutor and defendant. It also has it s advantages and disadvantages.
Most times plea bargaining becomes controversial, and It does get heated because no one wants to sit
in prison. A crime is a crime and the person who commits the crime has to face the consequences of
his/her actions. Plea Bargaining just makes things a little more less complicated then what it needs to
be for a defendant and the prosecutor.
As mentioned earlier, plea bargaining has it s advantages and disadvantages. The most obvious
advantage would be receiving a shorter sentence, and less chargers on ones record. A disadvantage
would be that either way you still have to do time in prison. Accepting a plea bargain is not easy at all,
everything will depend on things such as your criminal

Abina and the Important Men Essay
Abina and the Important Men
Abina and the Important Men: a Graphical History was written by Trevor R. Getz and Liz Clarke. The
story of Abina Mansah is somewhat an inspiring graphical history based on an 1876 court transcript.
Abina, a woman of West Africa, was wrongfully enslaved and as a consequence, she took her former
master, Quamina Eddoo, to court. The overall setting took place on the Gold Coast during the 19th
century. The main scenes take place in the court room, which is filled with many important men. The
men included a British judge, two Euro African attorneys, countrymen, and an entire jury of wealthy,
high class local town leaders. This book is broken down into several parts; the graphical history,

Davis reminded Abina that even though all were free, Eddoo was an important man and the British
didn t like to alienate important men. Following, the magistrate, William Melton, agreed to hear the
case and sent at Quamina Eddoo on the charge of slavery. The trial started and Abina was questioned
as to why she believed she was a slave. Abina responded saying, They held me down, and cut my
beads, and I was told that I was to be their amperley their slave. (Chapter 2, page 24) Throughout the
court case and Abina s flashback to the court, the men of the court strived to somehow imposed their
own meanings and understandings of slavery upon Abina and silence her.
As mentioned earlier, Abina wanted to punish her master, Eddoo for wrongly enslaving her. Abina
wasn t as educated as the important men hearing her case, but she truly believed she was a slave. She
expressed herself in her own language which wasn t clearly understood by the important men of the
court. Because she lacked education causing her to contradict, become confused or inaccurately
answer the questions, Eddoo s lawyer and the men began to create a difference between being a slave
and acting upon free will like a slave. The magistrate, Mr. Melton, asked Abina if during her stay with
Eccoah and Quamina Eddoo, was she compelled to work against her will. (Chapter 3, page

President Lyndon Johnson And The Vietnam War
President Lyndon Johnson asked U.S Congress for permission to increase the U.S military in
Indochina, because two U.S destroyers called in that they had been fired on by North Vietnamese
forces. President Johnson received authorization to proceed any actions that is necessary to get
revenge and to encourage the repairs of security and worldwide peace, he was granted approval when
Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. The Johnson Administration believed that increasing
the U.S military presence in Vietnam was the only answer, the South Vietnamese troops stayed
generally ineffective. In supporting South Vietnamese raids and applying a U.S program for the Lao
border to disturb supply lines, U.S military started supporting South Vietnamese raids of the North
Vietnamese coast. In the Gulf of Tonkin two destroyers by the name of the Maddox and the Turner
Joy, were stationed to strengthen these action by The United States Navy. The commander on the
Turner Joy reported being attacked by North Vietnamese Patrol boats twice, once on August 2 and the
second on August 4. However, doubts later occurred as to whether or not the Turner Joy was attacked.
Under those circumstances, Johnson instantly asked permission from Congress to defend U.S
militaries in Southeast Asia. The Senate passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution with just two restricting
votes, and the House of Representatives passed it collectively. Congress upheld the determination with

Social Classes In Romeo And Juliet
In the book, Romeo and Juliet I learned about social classes and how people were supposed to live
their lives based on what class they lived in. People in this era were either born into their classes or
could marry into another class. They could also become noble by grant of the king or queen. When
reading the script from Romeo and Juliet I wanted to learn more about social classes in the
Elizabethan era. I have learned that a person s color of their shirt was an example of what class they
were in. It was considered a defiance if they wore clothes that were not acceptable in their class. Their
was six main classes in this era the monarch, the nobility, the gentry, the merchants, the yeomanry, and
the laborers. They believed it was God who made these classes. I will be talking about the different
social classes, how many social classes there were, and how they were maintained.
In the Elizabethan era, their lives were governed by strict laws and rule. According to Elizabethan Era,
the Parliament regulated the clothes that can only be worn by each rank and it was considered a
defiance of the order if a laborer wore clothes of the rich. The Parliament governed the citizens very
strictly, and even decided what the people would wear. Stated by Melanie Jones, a person s class

Review of Movies, In Time and Time Will Salas
The movie In Time shows a world where people are genetically engineered with a specifically limited
amount of time to live. Digital clocks on their forearm show one chronological year, which begins
ticking down at age 25, while they physically stop aging at the same age. When your time expires, you
die instantly. In this world, time is the universal currency and everything you do requires and is
rewarded with time. There are two primary time zones, based on the wealth, or time owned, of its
population. Dayton, which is poor, and New Greenwich, the wealthiest. Will, a 28 year old factory
worker from poorer Dayton saves Henry, a time wealthy New Greenwich citizen, from an attempted
robbery and murder by a gang called the Minute Men. Once safe, Henry explains to Will the truth
behind wealth: there is enough time for everyone to live a long life, but New Greenwich citizens take
most of the time and store it so they can be immortal. To ensure their position, wealthier districts raise
the cost of living, impoverishing everyone else. Henry states: For a few to be immortal, many must
die. Henry gives sleeping Will most of his time, leaving a cryptic note: Don t waste my time. This
helps Will finally realizes what Henry meant all along, and was able to understand and comprehend
his private language and personal code philosophized as discussed by the philosopher Ludwig
Wittgenstein.

Violent Video Games Do Not Cause Gun Violence
The killings in Marshall County High School, Kentucky. The slaughters in Marjory Stoneman

Anterior Cruciate Trauma Case Study
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are the most common of knee injuries especially occurring
during sports related activity. These types of injuries may lead to short term disability and as well as
possible long term complications. It is estimated that 80,000 to 100,000 ACL reconstructions are
performed every year and a significant percentage of those surgeries are performed on female athletes.
Female athletes experience ACL injuries about two or three times more often than men due to how the
female body matures and her strength, or lack thereof. Because of the wear on a healthy ACL, the
ACL might not last an entire athletic career especially in women. Some of the risk factors are
unavoidable, such as hormone changes and gender, but the neuromuscular and biomechanical factors
are controllable. If a female athlete can be properly strength trained and takes the necessary
precautions, like stretching for flexibility and core training for muscle control and balance, she can
greatly reduce the risk of injuring her ACL. If she does not take the necessary precautions and does
tear her ACL, surgery is required to replace the torn ACL and rehabilitation of that ligament is
necessary before returning to sports (Hewett et al., 2012; Siegel et al., 2012). Despite the advances in
surgery, the long term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the knee that can be felt. Because of this and the PCL, the knee stays attached, stable, and functional.
But when the ACL is injured in the form of a tear the knee has limited function until the tear is fixed,
and even then many female athletes still have problems with their knees throughout the rest of their
athletic career because the ACL may not recover 100% of its function and stability. Without
reconstruction surgery, everyday tasks such as walking are still possible but for high performance
athletes, the torn ACL cannot endure the stress placed on the knee.

Touch Reaction Times
Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times
Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018
Introduction:
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using different
stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your
senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the
signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain
recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is carried out by
many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018). There ... Show

Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual
with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest
reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170
seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of
0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused
by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to
previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results
and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts
previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this
experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth,
it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict
previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous
experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and
touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch
and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would
have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal
reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we
used 13 year old test subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment
could have been improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global

Engineers During The Battle Of The Bulge
291st Engineers during the Battle of the Bulge SSG Abdel D. Phipps This essay illustrates and
identifies the contributions made by Engineers during the Battle of the Bulge. The Battle of the Bulge
(aka the Ardennes Offensive) was a major German offensive launched through the thinly forested
Ardennes mountain region on the Western Front (History Net, 2015). Nevertheless, the battle ended
up being a decisive allied victory, depleting an already weakened German army as both valuable
reserves and equipment were lost. It will be discussed how the Engineers and their contributions
affected the final outcome of the war as well as the future of the world itself. Additionally, the
contribution U.S Army Engineer Regiment to help stop the German counter offensive in December
1944 will be assessed and evaluated. After the invasion of mainland Europe by allied forces in the
summer of 1944, the German Army was on the defensive. The army was fighting two enemies and
losing on both fronts. On their Eastern front, were the Russians who had been advancing and battling
the Germans, to a stalemate and on their Western front (History Net, 2015), were the rest of the allies
including America, the Free French Forces, as well as Soldiers and allies from many occupied
countries (Kotz, 2007). The above mentioned forces, in December 1944 were maintining a momentum
that had brought them to liberate many European countries, and forcing the Germans to do

Racial Differences the Tempest
Racial Differences in The Tempest The Tempest is a classic example of Shakespeare s dichotomized
notions of right and wrong within the context of racial inherencies, a social commentary of the
colonialism of the New World. An important theme in the play is the racial differentiation between
Caliban and the other antagonists, primarily, Prospero, who comes to the island and enslaves Caliban
to enforce his own rule. This relationship, as portrayed through the play, is a reflection of the historical
social and racial tensions that existed between the colonizers of New Europe and the Native
Americans and is illustrated through the language employed by Shakespeare and the interactions that
take place between the characters. The Tempest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The racial and colonial divides do not remain at the mere differentiation or relegation of a people but
extend to explain why these differences justify the dominance of supposed superior culture over these
very people. The play reflects early modern conceptions of race and racial differences through the
marriage between Claribel and the African King of Tunis as well as through the treatment of Caliban
by the antagonists. Claribel marries the King of Tunis out of obedience to her father even though she
does not want to. Shakespeare portrays this marriage to an African as degrading, reflecting the racial
conception of the inferiority of the colored man to the white man through the character of Sebastian
and his conversation with Alonso, the King of Naples:
That would not bless our Europe with your daughter, But rather loose her to an African, Where she at
least is banished from your eye, Who hath cause to wet the grief on t . . .
You were kneeled to an importuned otherwise
By all of us, and the fair soul herself
Weighed between loathness and obedience at
Which n o the been should bow. (36 37)
Caliban also reflects the racial differences and inferiority of other races to the white race, which is
partially reflected in his contrast to Prospero. Caliban s mother was

Positive and Negative Effects of Tourism in Africa
The effects of tourism in Africa
Ever since the ability to travel over vast amounts of distances around the world became easier with the
use of innovative marvels such as the aeroplane, tourism started to grow in certain countries that had
enough places of interest. Africa offered much that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world; from
the ancient pyramids of Giza to the spectacular wildlife migration in the Serengeti. Tourist from
around the world would pay a lot of money to see and be a part of this almost untouched beauty. Thus
tourism in Africa started to grow and became one of the most important sources of income for many
countries. But the dilemma that we know face is whether tourism offers more benefits to the society to
overcome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social effects of tourism have an impact on the society of a certain area and focuses on their
wellbeing. We live in a world where people must be able to keep with the modern world in order to
survive and obtain an income, forcing a loss in certain traditions and culture. But tourism encourages
people in rural areas to keep their traditions and embrace their culture. For example, the arts and crafts
made by the Ndebele tribe in South Africa as a symbol of their culture can be sold to tourists.
Tourists also pay money to be guests of these primitive tribes in Africa. This creates a better
understanding and awareness between various kinds of cultures. The negative aspect of tourism on a
society is over congestion in certain areas where there is not enough recourses for the people in that
area. This mainly affects the life quality of the local population. Prostitution which is an easy source
of income may increase in order to satisfy some tourists needs, for example in the 2010 Fifa World
Cup hosted in South Africa, prostitution increased during that period of time. Drug and alcohol abuse
may also increase the crime in communities. A society may also be harmed when their land are being
stripped away in order to build hotels and accommodation for the tourism industry.
The largest and most significant negative effect of tourism is its impact on the

The debate of religious authority have also affected the Middle East. In the case of Shism, the right
leader of the Islam world comes from the hereditary and bloodline of Muhammad. This has caused the
division between Shi ite and Sunni Muslims. Imams play an important role for Shi ites. An Imam is
recognized to be infallible and sinless group of men that were chosen by Allah. They were gifted with
wisdom and are instilled with knowledge to represent the spirit of Muhammad. For Shi ite Muslims
they are qualified to be leaders. This shows how they differ with Sunni Islam. Shi ites are divided into

Muslims have been labeled with various stereotypes. It is under the assumption that Muslim women
are oppressed, Muslims have a low tolerance of other beliefs, or a Jihadist automatically assumed to
bring terror against Americans. Where are they getting this information from? The media has given the
nation false and exaggerating propaganda against Muslims. Instead of educating oneself on Muslim
culture and Islam, Americans run and digest a lot of outlandish stories and create these stereotypes
against a group of people. On September 18, 2015 at a Donald Trump town hall event in New
Hampshire, and unidentified man made a statement and asked the prospective presidential candidate,
We have a problem in this county. It s called Muslims, you know our current president is one. You
know he s not even an American. Anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill
us. When can we get rid of them (Schleifer)? This kind of narrow minded thinking breathes hatred and
discrimination against a class of people. Islam isn t a religion that is used to undermine other beliefs,
but it is a way of life. In addition, Muslims live their lives with the exclusion of secular interference,
but in accordance to the Quran to become a better

Harry Harlow s Article Discovering Love
Discovering Love is an article about the definition of love and the different aspects, such as how it
works and where you get it. Developmental psychologist Harry Harlow is the main contributor to this
study. Harlow was particularly interested in how early life experiences, specifically interaction with
one s mother or primary caregiver, impact an individual s ability to love and be loved by others later in
life. In the 1950 s, Harlow conducted a study using monkeys and surrogate mothers made of artificial
materials. He did various tests with the monkeys in which eight monkeys were assigned to either a
cloth or wire mother. Both surrogate mothers fed their monkeys, provided heat and had the same
shape. The only difference was what they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One specific study in which Harlow is cited was done by two researchers by the names of Eidelman
and Feldman. They examined how crucial it is that premature infants receive an appropriate amount of
skin to skin contact. Without proper contact, (also called Kangaroo care) premature babies are more at
risk of death and life altering illness. This is quite a recent finding, and it most definitely applies to life
today when it comes to giving all infants the best care possible to fit their needs. Another way that the
study influences life today is how impactful the power of touch really is. When trying to establish a
bond with someone, physical contact could lead the way to an unbreakable emotional bond. But how
much is too much? Everyone has different needs, and Harlow s findings show us that while all living
things are unique, we all have relatively similar things that must be done in order to achieve the
healthiest emotional connection between anyone.
I agree that the Harry Harlow study is entirely relevant to life today, useful, and in no way cruel to the
monkeys involved. It demonstrates the importance of contact comfort

Hispanic And Hispanic Ethnic Groups
When looking at the Hispanic/Latino ethnic groups some may think they are all from the same country
because of their culture, and the fact that many speak Spanish. However, this is not the case, and when
looking at the unique features associated with each ethnic group, it is easy to see the differences
between them. All of the Latino/Hispanic ethnic groups have differences and this can even be heard in
the dialect used to speak Spanish, such as the case when listening to Puerto Ricans and Mexicans
speaking Spanish. In an effort to have a better understanding of elder Mexicans, this paper will look at
the Mexican sub culture, and the features associated with the family dynamics, gender roles,
acculturation patters, as well as religious contemporary issues such as taking care of an elder family
member. We will examine ways to engage, assess, discuss ways of intervention, and review ways to
ensure that effective evaluations are completed.
Demographics
With Hispanics quickly becoming the largest growing population in the United States, it is easy to see
why there is a need for social workers to understand the needs of this population. In fact, focusing on
this population as a whole is a relatively new concentration in regards to social work, so understanding
the elder population is even more unknown. Similar to their Caucasian and African American peers,
Mexican elders have a number of factors that are unique to their culture, and must be understood when
looking at ways

Operation Eagle Claw, And It Was A Failure
November 4th 1979American personnel at the US embassy are taken hostage in Teheran, Iran. The
United States had never faced a hostage situation like this before. It did not have the Joint Special
Operations Task Force trained in planning the mission or the resources for low visibility clandestine
missions. The mission to save the hostages is called Operation Eagle Claw, and it was a failure. This
mission on the other hand highlighted areas in the military that need tobe improved, and when the
country required to carry out special operation missions in the future those resources would be there
and ready.
Militant student, followers of the Ayatollah stormed the Embassy and took all personnel hostage. This
was the second time in 1979 the embassy was taken and only a few people remained behind its gates.
The students only planned to take the hostages for a few days, hopping that the United States would
return the ousted Shah, to face trial. When the US refused, to return the Shah, the stalemate began, and
the students held the hostages for 444 days.
The US realized that the hostages are not being released as before, and a rescue mission was needed to
secure their freedom. A group was quickly put together to plan the rescue. Dubbed Operation Rice
Bowl, flag officers from every branch of the military, began to plan the mission and gather
intelligence. The officers of the planning, operations ensured that every branch of the military would
have a piece of the mission; no

How Did Galileo Galilei Support The Heliocentric
The Catholic Church was extremely powerful and influential in their communities which supported
the theory of a geocentric, or Earth centered, universe. During Galileo s time, people believed that the
Earth was the center of the universe and the Sun and planets revolved around it. Galileo Galilei s
discovery of the heliocentric theory strengthened Galileo s belief in Copernicus theory that Earth and
all the other planets revolved around the Sun. Once Galileo presented the heliocentric theory, the
Catholic Church believed Galileo could not be a devoted Catholic and a scientist at once. The Church
was infuriated with Galileo s book about the discovery so they decided to set a trial against Galileo.
Galileo was justified in publishing Two Chief World Systems, a dialogue, against the dictate of the
church because it created an evolution of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With his invention, Galileo was able to discover mountains and other terrestrial features on the moon,
spots on the sun (itself apparently rotating), four moons circling Jupiter, and periodic phases in the
illumination of Venus (The Galileo Affair 1). Galileo created an environment to expand on knowledge
by providing evidence of the heliocentric universe. During Galileo s time, people would depend on the
long tradition in the Church of turning to the Bible for knowledge of the most general features of the
natural world such as where the earth lines in the universe (The Church s Ban on Copernicanism 183).
Eventually, the natural philosophers regarded the unproven Copernican theory as no longer useful.
Knowledge was a major contribution to Galileo s theory due to finding of the Earth not in the center of
the universe. Galileo was able to expand the knowledge beyond the limits of personal experience with
his expansion of observations with the

Pompeii, By Janet Scott Batchler And Lee Batchler
The film that I selected for this film review is Pompeii, a 2014 historical disaster movie that was
directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and written by Janet Scott Batchler and Lee Batchler. The movie was
adapted from a 2003 book with the same title that was written by Robert Harris. I chose Pompeii
because I heard about the devastating event that took place in the ancient Roman city in various
television programs and books. As a result, I wanted to learn more about the event and the daily life of
Pompeii before the volcanic eruption occurred. I thought that watching the movie would give me
insight about Pompeii and the ancient Roman civilization. In addition, I also chose this film because it
features talented actors such as Kit Harington, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Carrie Anne Moss, and
Emily Browning. The historical context of Pompeii is the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE that did
significant damage to the city of Pompeii and Herculaneum, a town northwest of Pompeii. Before the
eruption, Pompeii was an important and lively city filled with thousands of inhabitants. According to
Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, the author of Lost City of Pompeii, a book that has detailed information on
the city, states, Estimates of its population run from 6,400 to 30,000 , but most experts think that
between 8,000 and 12,000 people lived there year round (Patent 14). The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, an
active volcano situated near the Bay of Naples, occurred on August 24, 79 CE. The volcanic eruption

Bilbo Baggins Essay
Bilbo Baggins Essay
Have you ever changed in your life for the better? Well, in the novel, The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien,
there is a main character named Bilbo Baggins who is a hobbit. Bilbo changes throughout the story
because he is a dynamic character. He becomes courageous, adventurous, and learns to use his wits as
the story develops. Let me go into further detail with this.
First of all, he gains courage in the story. Before he went on this adventure, he was timid and to
himself. This is because hobbits didn t go on anything dangerous, especially adventures. This all
changes as soon as Bilbo goes on this journey with Gandalf and the dwarves. We see our first example
of this when he tries to steal from the three huge, nasty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bilbo used to be one of the least adventurous hobbits out there. But he does things he never thought he
would do, like accept the job as a burglar, and fulfills his duties as one. So in the sense, he gained an
adventurous side of him he thought he never had. We see his adventurous side when he saves his
friends from the prison of the wood elves. He could ve just left them or begged the wood elf to free
them, but he decided to wait for his one chance and escape with his friends. He stole the keys from
one of the elves, set them free, put them into barrels and sent them all down the river. Now tell me
what he did was not out of the ordinary or the least bit of adventurous. We also see his speech starting
to change into an adventurer s when he says, I tell you the gold was only an afterthought with us. We
came over hill and under hill for revenge. First of all, he said this to the almighty Smaug, who could
burn him to smithereens if he chose to. So he gained confidence as well, which came with the
adventure side of him.
In conclusion, we can now see that Bilbo is in fact a dynamic character. He gains many qualities he
can use in the future, like courage, learning to use his wits, and letting out the adventurous side in him.
He used to be almost paranoid, to himself, and strict. But now he has turned into something much
bigger, an adventurer. So the adventure changed him for the better. This is how Bilbo Baggins, the
hobbit we thought would never do anything

(www.reslitour.com/Historiaeng.htm ) Logrono is a City in Spain that in 1521, was put under attack by
the French. It was left under attack for seventeen days untill the French were finally defeated on June
11th.On this day each year the feast of St. Barnabas is held in Logrono City. This is a major Feast each
year which marks the end of the siege. It is an event that many people go to learn about the history and
enjoy some of the traditions in the City. During the time of the siege, the city was under the rule of
Captain Ere Rod. This seemed to be an advantage as to how the people of Logrono survived the siege
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcqMKlOHjBg ).
Logrono is referred to as the Wine Capital of the world. People travel here to enjoy the wine produced
and learn about the history. Population
Logrono has a population of about 152107 people. This was last recorded in 2015. This is a
reasonably small number of people compared to the rest of Spain. With this amount of people living
here, it would leave more room for the tourism industry.
As Logrono is extremely popular for its production of wine it increases the visitors who come to this
Region. This ultimately would lead to the boost in the economy there.
The smaller population leaves more room for the people within the City to build their industries
without other people coming in taking over with building site for

  • 2. XYZ Safety Office Business Plan High rates of safety incidents on and off base clearly indicate the XYZ safety office is not operating at its highest level of efficiency and effectiveness. After meeting with each member of the office and speaking with the previous supervisor, I am confident in my team s ability to remedy the current disconnect in team cohesion and move forward towards a shared objective. My plan is broken down into immediate (30 days), short term (60 days), and long term objectives (120 days). In order to create the most effective time over this timeframe, I will employ specific, and intentional, leadership behaviors that include: individual consideration, inspirational motivation through implementation of a shared vision, and intellectual stimulation through innovation and creativity. • 3. Athenian Civic Architecture The Evolution of Athenian Civic Architecture through the Hellenistic Period Evolution is the process in which there is a gradual development of something, from a simple to a very complex form. No matter how we look at it, the theory of evolution is all around us. The world is constantly evolving around us, strides and discoveries are being made in history, science, and technology every day and will continue to do so long after our time on earth has ended. In order to grow you have to start at a small base. From that base you must learn, adapt, and evolve into what you are to become down the road. The Hellenistic period was a time in history that can be seen as a time of evolution for an entire culture. Ancient architecture made a leap from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being able to take every aspect and have them work together in unison to help bring an architects idea to life is something truly amazing. During the Hellenistic era, they were living on the borderline of the history of mankind. The change involved the city environment as places of sharing, but above all being humans. Cities, buildings, and machines were changing quickly, and people became aware of the changes and quickly had to adapt to them. This could be seen as a process of evolution or mutation as the cities are changing to fit their current inhabitants survival needs and dependencies. If the architectural advances were not made during the Hellenistic period, chances are that architecture as a whole would have continued to make advances, but not at the speed it originally did. The evolution of architecture in the Hellenistic period opened the door for organized and structurally built cities. These same techniques and concepts used then can be found in capital cities and suburban living spaces around the world. This evolution had a heavy influence on the western world and how they construct their own towns and cities. Because of this evolution, we are living in the comfort and sustainability of the towns and cities we know and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tulips In The Botany Of Desire By Michael Pollan The Tulip has grown to be a symbol for beauty, grabbing the vain eye of humans all around the world since the 1600 s. Associated with the bulbous plant is an everlasting craze, driving people into a frenzy and showing the volatility of financial markets. The symbiotic relationship between humans and plants has always been thought to benefit humans, but what if in fact the desire behind plants, in this case the tulip, is their driving force for survival? In the book The Botany of Desire, the author Michael Pollan hypothesizes that tulips have developed an evolutionary design to enhance beauty, making them constantly desirable and reproducible. Although tulips serve no practical purpose, they are still yearned for by humans and billions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are instinctively drawn to gorgeous flowers, much like the way bees are. One theory could have to do with flowers being the precursor to fruits, which serve as a food source for humans. Since the creation of mankind, humans have been built to be foragers, evolving to spy flowers in an abundant landscape of colors. The humans that were successful foragers were the first to find sweet fruit to sustain them and the ones to survive. This could have resulted in natural selection favoring good foragers that could find fruits, remember their location, and differentiate them. This proposes the thought that maybe all humans recognize floral beauty in the same way because we are products of our ancestors, who evolved to be meticulous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The War of 1812 involves plenty of naval battles and a few major land battles, while the Mexican American War involves numerous land battles and few, if any, naval battles. However there are numerous similarities. The War of 1812, The US saw Great Britain as a major problem because of their definition of contraband and the impressment of American sailors into the British Navy. And around this time the warhawks are elected to the House of Representatives. They wanted war because the British were supplying the Indian with guns and ammunition and encouraging Indian trouble. General Stephan Kearney and a force of 1700 men were ordered to capture the relatively unpopulated provinces of New Mexico and California. He captures Santa Fe without a fight, the capital of the province of New Mexico. He joins up with rebelling Americans under the command of John C Fremont and by February 1847 the US controls all of California. So in the War of 1812 America is utterly unsuccessful in gaining any land, however in the Mexican American War all the land we hoped for at the beginning of the war we have almost no problem in obtaining. We were so successful in the Mexican American war that the Mexican government invite Santa Ana to come back because of the incompetence of their current generals. • 7. Comparing Religion And Science From A Sociological Viewpoint Question:1. Compare and contrast religion with science from a sociological viewpoint. Is science just another form of religion, with people like physicist Stephen Hawking among its high priests or mullah? Are science and religions simply both similar social constructions? In your response to this question, specifically consider both how irrational social factors influence everything, and the relationship between faith and proof. First of all, There are a number of debates about the similarities and differences between religion with science from aspects of sociological. Then, in my opinion, is not just the science with people who are the physicist or high priests and mullah shaped to religion. Religion can be forming of culture, identity, relationship, practice, power and so on. Also, in the social constructions, science and religions are two different territories to illustrate contemporary society. And then, there are various unreasonable social factors influence science, religions and everything. Lastly, I think that faith and proof are mutual, reasonable, independent. According to read the resources, there are not authoritative and qualities definition of religions. Only, religion is typically viewed as organised, communal, traditional and in decline . (Arvanitakis, James. Sociologic.) The understanding of religions are more complexity and diversity and different people and groups have the different meaning. A plastic injection mouldings manufacturer, they had for the last twenty years specialised in providing industrial mouldings for domestic appliance manufacturers. They were especially adept at moulding relatively large components, such as the outer casing for carpet cleaners. Large components were difficult to make to the high levels of tolerance and finish which customers demanded. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethan Condos, Aztec s CEO, did not see this as a problem. We need to replace many of our machines anyway. This provides us with the stimulus to do it and our calculations indicate that the deal would give us a good return on the investment. Investment isn t the problem; it s the risks of doing the deal which worry me. How do we know that we can cope with the increased variety? We will need to increase the flexibility of our manufacturing operations to cope with this variety, while at the same time reducing costs and maintaining quality levels. And can we achieve a minimum of 5 per cent annual cost reduction? It s higher than we ve ever done before. They will help us by providing their own engineers to reconfigure our production system but that will mean exposing ourselves to their scrutiny. I m nervous about that; the next thing they will be wanting is to examine our financial accounts. Also, what if they ditch us after three years? If we accept this deal we cannot keep much of our other business. Just coping with the Desron business will mean us expanding by 5 per cent. Once we have dropped our other customers I doubt if we could get them back easily. Most of all, are we prepared to act as a servant to such a large corporation? • 10. Analysis Of American Dance My favorite dance was the contemporary routine with Derek, Jaja, and Alexia. The choreographer, Stacey Tookey, explained that the piece was about bravery in different forms: Derek played a veteran, Jaja was portraying a woman leaving an abusive relationship, and Alexia took on the role of a single mother. I really enjoyed the dance because of the story it was trying to convey; each dancer dove into character and brought out complex emotions through their movements. The dancers connected deeply with each of their stories, even though they were completely different people. They were portraying things that they had never personally experienced in their lives before. They showed the strengths of the characters along with their weaknesses, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the routine was not well put together. A necessary component in the piece was an overly cocky, in your face attitude. The piece was set to Whuteva by Remy Ma, which reflects this attitude. The dancers however, did not deliver. They weren t exuding the confidence that the piece demanded from them and because of this, the music overshadowed the performers. I also disliked this piece because of the costumes. Keeping in mind that this piece was supposed to have a loud, aggressive vibe to it, the costumes did not really portray that for me. Instead, they were sloppy and distracting. They also got in the way of some of the steps, such as when the dancers had to put their arms up in the air; their hoodies were flying all over the place. At some points in the piece, some of the dancers visibly push up their sleeves or adjust their clothing. • 11. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plea Bargaining Plea bargaining is when the prosecutor and defendant make an arrangement in which the defendant pleads guilty to a lesser charge. In hopes with the Judge being lenient with their sentence. Many criminal cases are based off of plea bargaining, it s a negotiation process where the defendant and the prosecutor discuss what charges they will be accounted for if not all. Sometimes it may lead to a reduced sentence, which also saves the time of everyone going through a trial and having to go through the process of trying to solve a case. The judge can not be there through the discussion of the plea bargain, and nor does a plea bargain take place in a court room. Plea bargaining is more of a private situation with just the prosecutor and defendant. It also has it s advantages and disadvantages. Most times plea bargaining becomes controversial, and It does get heated because no one wants to sit in prison. A crime is a crime and the person who commits the crime has to face the consequences of his/her actions. Plea Bargaining just makes things a little more less complicated then what it needs to be for a defendant and the prosecutor. As mentioned earlier, plea bargaining has it s advantages and disadvantages. The most obvious advantage would be receiving a shorter sentence, and less chargers on ones record. A disadvantage would be that either way you still have to do time in prison. Accepting a plea bargain is not easy at all, everything will depend on things such as your criminal ... The story of Abina Mansah is somewhat an inspiring graphical history based on an 1876 court transcript. Abina, a woman of West Africa, was wrongfully enslaved and as a consequence, she took her former master, Quamina Eddoo, to court. The overall setting took place on the Gold Coast during the 19th century. The main scenes take place in the court room, which is filled with many important men. The men included a British judge, two Euro African attorneys, countrymen, and an entire jury of wealthy, high class local town leaders. Following, the magistrate, William Melton, agreed to hear the case and sent at Quamina Eddoo on the charge of slavery. The trial started and Abina was questioned as to why she believed she was a slave. Abina responded saying, They held me down, and cut my beads, and I was told that I was to be their amperley their slave. (Chapter 2, page 24) Throughout the court case and Abina s flashback to the court, the men of the court strived to somehow imposed their own meanings and understandings of slavery upon Abina and silence her. As mentioned earlier, Abina wanted to punish her master, Eddoo for wrongly enslaving her. Abina wasn t as educated as the important men hearing her case, but she truly believed she was a slave. She expressed herself in her own language which wasn t clearly understood by the important men of the court. Because she lacked education causing her to contradict, become confused or inaccurately answer the questions, Eddoo s lawyer and the men began to create a difference between being a slave and acting upon free will like a slave. People in this era were either born into their classes or could marry into another class. They could also become noble by grant of the king or queen. When reading the script from Romeo and Juliet I wanted to learn more about social classes in the Elizabethan era. In this world, time is the universal currency and everything you do requires and is rewarded with time. There are two primary time zones, based on the wealth, or time owned, of its population. Dayton, which is poor, and New Greenwich, the wealthiest. Will, a 28 year old factory worker from poorer Dayton saves Henry, a time wealthy New Greenwich citizen, from an attempted robbery and murder by a gang called the Minute Men. Once safe, Henry explains to Will the truth behind wealth: there is enough time for everyone to live a long life, but New Greenwich citizens take most of the time and store it so they can be immortal. To ensure their position, wealthier districts raise the cost of living, impoverishing everyone else. Henry states: For a few to be immortal, many must die. Henry gives sleeping Will most of his time, leaving a cryptic note: Don t waste my time. • 22. Anterior Cruciate Trauma Case Study Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are the most common of knee injuries especially occurring during sports related activity. These types of injuries may lead to short term disability and as well as possible long term complications. It is estimated that 80,000 to 100,000 ACL reconstructions are performed every year and a significant percentage of those surgeries are performed on female athletes. Female athletes experience ACL injuries about two or three times more often than men due to how the female body matures and her strength, or lack thereof. Because of the wear on a healthy ACL, the ACL might not last an entire athletic career especially in women. Some of the risk factors are unavoidable, such as hormone changes and gender, but the neuromuscular and biomechanical factors are controllable. If a female athlete can be properly strength trained and takes the necessary precautions, like stretching for flexibility and core training for muscle control and balance, she can greatly reduce the risk of injuring her ACL. If she does not take the necessary precautions and does tear her ACL, surgery is required to replace the torn ACL and rehabilitation of that ligament is necessary before returning to sports (Hewett et al., 2012; Siegel et al., 2012). Touch Reaction Times Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018 Introduction: The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. The Battle of the Bulge (aka the Ardennes Offensive) was a major German offensive launched through the thinly forested Ardennes mountain region on the Western Front (History Net, 2015). Nevertheless, the battle ended up being a decisive allied victory, depleting an already weakened German army as both valuable reserves and equipment were lost. An important theme in the play is the racial differentiation between Caliban and the other antagonists, primarily, Prospero, who comes to the island and enslaves Caliban to enforce his own rule. The racial and colonial divides do not remain at the mere differentiation or relegation of a people but extend to explain why these differences justify the dominance of supposed superior culture over these very people. Claribel marries the King of Tunis out of obedience to her father even though she does not want to. Shakespeare portrays this marriage to an African as degrading, reflecting the racial conception of the inferiority of the colored man to the white man through the character of Sebastian and his conversation with Alonso, the King of Naples: That would not bless our Europe with your daughter, But rather loose her to an African, Where she at least is banished from your eye, Who hath cause to wet the grief on t . . . When the US refused, to return the Shah, the stalemate began, and the students held the hostages for 444 days. The US realized that the hostages are not being released as before, and a rescue mission was needed to secure their freedom. A group was quickly put together to plan the rescue. • 32. How Did Galileo Galilei Support The Heliocentric The Catholic Church was extremely powerful and influential in their communities which supported the theory of a geocentric, or Earth centered, universe. During Galileo s time, people believed that the Earth was the center of the universe and the Sun and planets revolved around it. Galileo Galilei s discovery of the heliocentric theory strengthened Galileo s belief in Copernicus theory that Earth and all the other planets revolved around the Sun. Once Galileo presented the heliocentric theory, the Catholic Church believed Galileo could not be a devoted Catholic and a scientist at once. The Church was infuriated with Galileo s book about the discovery so they decided to set a trial against Galileo. Galileo was justified in publishing Two Chief World Systems, a dialogue, against the dictate of the church because it created an evolution of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With his invention, Galileo was able to discover mountains and other terrestrial features on the moon, spots on the sun (itself apparently rotating), four moons circling Jupiter, and periodic phases in the illumination of Venus (The Galileo Affair 1). Galileo created an environment to expand on knowledge by providing evidence of the heliocentric universe. During Galileo s time, people would depend on the long tradition in the Church of turning to the Bible for knowledge of the most general features of the natural world such as where the earth lines in the universe (The Church s Ban on Copernicanism 183). Eventually, the natural philosophers regarded the unproven Copernican theory as no longer useful. Knowledge was a major contribution to Galileo s theory due to finding of the Earth not in the center of the universe. Galileo was able to expand the knowledge beyond the limits of personal experience with his expansion of observations with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Pompeii, By Janet Scott Batchler And Lee Batchler The film that I selected for this film review is Pompeii, a 2014 historical disaster movie that was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and written by Janet Scott Batchler and Lee Batchler. The movie was adapted from a 2003 book with the same title that was written by Robert Harris. I chose Pompeii because I heard about the devastating event that took place in the ancient Roman city in various television programs and books. As a result, I wanted to learn more about the event and the daily life of Pompeii before the volcanic eruption occurred. I thought that watching the movie would give me insight about Pompeii and the ancient Roman civilization. In addition, I also chose this film because it features talented actors such as Kit Harington, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Carrie Anne Moss, and Emily Browning. The historical context of Pompeii is the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE that did significant damage to the city of Pompeii and Herculaneum, a town northwest of Pompeii. Before the eruption, Pompeii was an important and lively city filled with thousands of inhabitants. According to Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, the author of Lost City of Pompeii, a book that has detailed information on the city, states, Estimates of its population run from 6,400 to 30,000 , but most experts think that between 8,000 and 12,000 people lived there year round (Patent 14). The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, an active volcano situated near the Bay of Naples, occurred on August 24, 79 CE. The volcanic eruption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, in the novel, The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, there is a main character named Bilbo Baggins who is a hobbit. Bilbo changes throughout the story because he is a dynamic character. He becomes courageous, adventurous, and learns to use his wits as the story develops. Let me go into further detail with this. First of all, he gains courage in the story. Before he went on this adventure, he was timid and to himself. This is because hobbits didn t go on anything dangerous, especially adventures. This all changes as soon as Bilbo goes on this journey with Gandalf and the dwarves. We see our first example of this when he tries to steal from the three huge, nasty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bilbo used to be one of the least adventurous hobbits out there. But he does things he never thought he would do, like accept the job as a burglar, and fulfills his duties as one. So in the sense, he gained an adventurous side of him he thought he never had. We see his adventurous side when he saves his friends from the prison of the wood elves. He could ve just left them or begged the wood elf to free them, but he decided to wait for his one chance and escape with his friends. He stole the keys from one of the elves, set them free, put them into barrels and sent them all down the river. Now tell me what he did was not out of the ordinary or the least bit of adventurous. We also see his speech starting to change into an adventurer s when he says, I tell you the gold was only an afterthought with us. We came over hill and under hill for revenge. First of all, he said this to the almighty Smaug, who could burn him to smithereens if he chose to. So he gained confidence as well, which came with the adventure side of him. In conclusion, we can now see that Bilbo is in fact a dynamic character. He gains many qualities he can use in the future, like courage, learning to use his wits, and letting out the adventurous side in him. He used to be almost paranoid, to himself, and strict. But now he has turned into something much bigger, an adventurer. So the adventure changed him for the better. This is how Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit we thought would never do anything ...
