Biological Approaches And The Patterns Of Gender Development
The biological theory maintains that biological characteristics such as chromosomes, hormonal
activities, and brain Gender development can be broken down into four categories or approaches. The
textbook identifies those following approaches as biological, interpersonal, cultural, and critical.
In the past and an in today s society people see or view gender in different ways. Many cultures tend
to confuse specialization account for gender differences (Wood, 38). In theory men and women are
chromosomally not alike. This is suggested due to the difference in the pattern of chromosomes
themselves. The second focus named in the biological theory which is hormonal activities states the
following. Hormones influence some tendencies that we associate ... Show more content on

My grand daughter performs these actions because she has seen them being done by other little girls
and women. Those things have allowed her to take an active part in forming her identity. In relation to
my grand daughter I am the feminine and competent one. According to the gender schema theory
which claims, An internal mental framework that organizes perceptions and directs behavior related to
gender. Using gender schemata, children organize clothes, activities, toys, traits, and roles into those
appropriate for boys and men and those appropriate for girls and women (Wood, 47). Now we come to
our third approach of gender development which is Culture. The cultural theorists do not dismiss
biological and interpersonal factors, but they do assume that these are qualified by the influence of
culture (Wood, 47). What these culture theorists are suggesting is culture shapes, affects, and
determines your gender. For example, the environment in which a child grows up in has a strong
deciding factor of what their gender will be. Nonetheless, as the culture theorist point out the
biological and interpersonal weigh in on a child s gender and what they identify as or

Gorbachev s Impact On The Soviet Union
In March of 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev becomes general secretary of the Communist Party, bringing
with him a wave of reform. His reform appeared in the form of a dual program, perestroika (to
restructure) and glasnost (openness), changing the Soviet Union s domestic governmental policies,
economic practices, and international relations for Gorbachev felt that his goals to improve the Soviet
Union s economy couldn t be done without reforming the political and social structures as well.
Gorbachev hoped that his reforms would reorganize and revive the USSR s economy, as it had been
stagnant since the Brezhnev years. Gorbachev s call for an intense technological modernization was in
the hopes of increasing industrial and agricultural productivity in order to increase efficiency and
productivity. Whether Gorbachev was successful in his aims of economic rejuvenation will be
examined within this essay, by examining perestroika and glasnost. When Gorbachev came into
power, he realized that the Soviet Union and nations under the Soviet Union s control were struggling,
their economies floundering, and the people were suffering. It was time for change. Gorbachev saw
that in order to stabilize Russia a new approach was needed in order to properly address the situation
in which the Soviet Union had found itself. Through the use of two overarching concepts, perestroika
and glasnost, Gorbachev unintentionally began to deconstruct the communist party and the USSR
itself. In 1986,

Roxanne Briano The Museum of Modern Art in New York City is the world s leading modern art. Its

Barr submitted the concept of what was to become of the museum. It had to be organized as a multi
departmental structure each devoted for Architecture and Design, Photography, Film and Video, and
they should stand side by side with traditional arts such as Painting and Sculpture. Architect Philip
Johnson built on this idea. The multi departmental structure seemed to best fit with the burgeoning
International Style, a modernist architectural movement from which Philip Johnson belonged. In this
architecture, buildings are designed with simple geometric lines and clean, precise surfaces and with
minimum decoration. Walls are made almost entirely of glass, known as curtain walls a signature
Johnson was known for that are used to give the building a light and airy appearance.
The Museum of Modern of Art was the first to use the words International Style , which was a fitting
term to introduce modernist arts to the world. Johnson and another renowned architect Henry Russell
Hitchcock organized a major show under the title Modern Architecture: International Exhibition .
There they described the International Style that expresses several design principles, that concerns
with volume rather than mass and solidity, regularity instead of axial symmetry, and the proscription
of arbitrary applied decoration . Exhibits featured leading European and American architects,
especially the likes of Le Corbusier and Ludwig Mies van der

The Pros And Cons Of US Military Bases
The Pros and Cons of US military bases overseas
Lee Mueller
Dr. Sooh Rhee Ryu
POLS 260
16 December 2016
According to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense James R. Blaker, military bases are installations
routinely used by military forces that supply their personnel with the means and equipment to respond
to a threat within the land it occupies (The Editors, 2011). As the world s only superpower, the US
possesses more military bases in foreign countries than any other state in the entire world. In the year
2015, it was reported that the US had approximately 800 military bases in more than 70 countries
worldwide (Vine, 2015). By projecting power abroad, the US influences transnational and global

To answer this we must look at the stability and political environments that encompass a state because
they play a large role in the ability of other actors to occupy land that it controls. For this reason, the
US should only associate with countries that follow their same beliefs. The US must be cautious as to
what countries that they decide to ally themselves with in order to analyze potential political outcomes
(Lostumbo, Michael J., McNerney, Michael J., Peltz, Eric, 2013). Factors that can play a role can
include a countries economic growth, annual GDP, or if there is ethnic conflict within the territory. If
analyzed in an efficient way, the argument can be made to allow for the structuring and development
of overseas bases in underdeveloped and/or developed

Essay On Pluripotent Cells For Toxicology
1.3.1 Pluripotent cells for toxicology (relevant cells relevant species) In 1981, ESCs were firstly
developed from isolation of mouse blastocytes (PMID: 7242681), then human ESCs were derived in
1998 (PMID: 9804556). Subsequently, the derivation of human ESC line did not only raise critical
ethical, religious, and political controversies, but also had scientific limitation. To circumvent these
concerns, suggested the derivation of iPSCs which seemed to be a promising and great alternative
though it was still controversial. Like ESCs, iPSCs have an ability to differentiate into various cell
types and make unlimited copies of themselves. In 2006, Takahashi and Yamanaka successfully

These drug metabolizing enzymes absorb and eliminate the drug through various routes of metabolic
biotransformation. Phase I enzymes mainly catalyze the oxidation, reduction, and hydrolysis reactions,
e.i. Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) are abundantly present in the liver and oxidize small molecules. Phase
II enzymes catalyze mainly conjugation reactions that involve glucuronidation, sulfation, and
acetylation. Lastly, hepatic transporters allow drugs to be absorbed and eliminated from the liver.
Therefore, the biotransformation of drug in the body is important to factor to be considered.
Hepatocyte like cells (HLCs) are tissue specific derived cells that are differentiated from iPSCs.
Unlike primary human hepatocytes, HLCs have the lower level of enzymatic activity and maturation
of hepatocyte phenotype. Most of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters are regulated by
xenobiotic sensing nuclear receptors, CAR (constitutive androstane receptor) and PXR (pregnane X
receptor) that are lowly expressed in HLCs (PMCID: PMC4761945). This may lead to lower
expression of CYP activity than primary human hepatocytes as well as expression of transporters. For
example, CYP3A4 is phase I enzymes that is an essential enzyme in the body and most abundantly
expressed in the liver. However, surprisingly, in HLCs, the expression of CYP3A4 is not presented
until the fourth stage of differentiation (PMID: PMC3619384).

How Would You Characterize the Leadership of Walmart...

Question 2: How would you characterize the leadership of Walmart founder Sam Walton?
The leadership of Walmart is Authentic Leadership which refers to individuals who know and
understand themselves, who espouse and act consistent with higher order ethical values, and who
empower and inspire others with their openness and authenticity. There are 5 key characteristics of
authentic leaders, which are: (i) Authentic leaders pursue their purpose with passion, (ii) Authentic
leaders practice solid values, (iii) Authentic leaders lead with their hearts as well their heads, (iv)

responsibility to be handling, by practicing the solid value, it will smooth the management.
Third characteristic is authentic leaders lead with their hearts as well their heads. All leaders
sometimes have to make tough choices, but authentic leaders maintain a compassion for others as well

Analysis Of Donald Trump s Campaign
In an effort to control mentioning of Donald Trump, close examination of popular media outlets with
large audiences will enable the campaign to see changes to rhetoric or schedule of statement releases
(there are, on average, over 200,000 mentions every month). (Politico Staff, 2016) Campaign staff as
well as Trump himself will be speaking with media in a manner that promotes a tight hold on
delegates over the course of the election. Rallies will require significant control efforts because of
protesters. Press conferences will enable the campaign to release accurate information at appropriate
times. This helps keep information circulating in the public to be favorable. Social media is now a
substantial part of elections. Releasing information and ads on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and
YouTube will generate needed feedback from audiences. Resources will be allocated to these sources
of information because it is the most effective way of controlling what information flows around in
the public, thus allowing the campaign to have a good amount of control on publicity and media
coverage.
The testing aspect occurs at many different ventures around the web from News polls to focus group

White Man s Burden Classism
White Man s Burden is a compelling movie that addresses racism and classism through an interesting
story of role reversal between the white and black communities. Historically, our society has had the
perception that white people are affluent, upper class citizens whom hold a majority of the social
power, while the black community has been seen as poor, oppressed, and socially inferior. This movie
reverses these perceptions, portraying whites as the inner city minority group and the black
community as the powerful, rich, community leaders. This movie is really just between black and
white communities, and one might watch the film and think it s just about racism. However, classism

Louis is an inner city factory worker trying his absolute hardest to provide the best life possible for his

so that he can move his family to a safer, quieter place. On the other hand, Thaddeus Thomas, the
factory owner is living a life of luxury and truly believes that the white community is inferior and is
pretty much the cause of their own misfortunes. Due to his beliefs, Thaddeus treats Louis and his
community as second/third class citizens. Additionally, this belief and treatment causes Thaddeus to
automatically assume guilt on Louis when he accidently saw Thaddeus wife naked. This is a great
example of how people who have these prejudice and racist opinions, are blinded to the truth. Because
they already have their beliefs and minds made up and are unwilling to change them and are quick to
judge without reasoning. Obviously this is a problem because these racist beliefs aren t what is true

Pros And Cons Of Inequality
You can tell there is inequality in this world just simply based on the word mankind . I am sure almost
everyone in the world has been impacted by some sort of inequality/ abuse of power in the world.
Inequality can occur when a population of any kind does not maintain a common status, or could also
be a difference in power between individuals. Inequality can take place anywhere at any time, and has
been a major problem in the world today. Some people may not care about this, some people really
express their feelings on this subject, but some people just simply don t know much about the subject.
Inequality can happen anywhere from your own home to globally all over the world. Back in my
hometown, Medford Massachusetts, I work at a local popular sub shop. This sub shop has people
coming from all neighboring towns just dying to try one of our famous subs. I work here as a chef
with a small crew of around 6 total workers who are all very close to each other. I have been working
here for a while, and I have seen workers come and go, but the one thing I realized is that I ve never
seen/heard of a girl working here before. I figured I would bring this topic across to my boss, Joe. My
boss was sort of looked at as a local hero. He was always quick to crack a joke with his workers, and
even his customers. He was overall a hilarious, hardworking man who was great to talk to. He

How Did The Palestine Revolution Affect The Creation Of...
For more than 1200 years, Muslims ruled Palestine completely. For centuries Muslims, Christians and
Jews coexisted peacefully in Palestine. Therefore, the Ottoman Empire was controlling that region
until the early twentieth century. The majority of Palestine s population was Muslims roughly around
85%, Christians were 10%, and the Jews were around 5%.
In the end of the 19th century, Zionist schemes surfaced and the Palestinian plight began. At the time,
in 1878, Palestine population was around 460,000 and the Jews were just around 3%. Nevertheless,
with the rise of the European nationalism, more Jews suffered persecution, so they started to organize
and think of emigrating from Europe, but they didn t know where to go. That is what the Jewish
journalist Theodor Hertzel answered in his book where he called for a national homeland for the Jews.
Hertzel suggested Palestine, Argentine and other places in Africa as well. However, many Jewish
conferences took place to collect funding and support for this cause. As a result, Palestine was the
chosen to be that place. Then the immigration of the Jews to Palestine began.

Story Of An Hour Analysis
In her short story The Story of an Hour, Kate Chopin s brilliant use of words immediately captures the
reader s attention. There is no introduction of characters and no build up to this story. In the opening
sentence, Chopin introduces the readers to Louise Mallard and informs them of her heart condition.
Little do the readers know, this will be a huge factor at the end of the story. The readers also learn that
Louise s husband has died in a railroad accident. With the knowledge of these two events, Chopin
takes the reader on a journey with the widowed Louise Mallard in the last hour of her life with all the
conflicting emotions that go along with it.
Richards and Josephine think they must break the news of Brently s death to Louise as gently as
possible. Josephine tells her in broken sentences; veiled hints that revealed in half concealing.
However, Louise does not hear this news with the same emotions as most women would at the loss of
a loved one. Initially, She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms. When the
storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. This is the normal and expected
reaction. Suddenly, the mood of the story changes as Louise looks out an open window and observes
the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life. The delicious breath of rain was in the

In the eighteenth Century, travel writing was normally known as the book of voyages, which chiefly

lots of 50,000 pounds. The less than carload rate is $15 per hundredweight. While anything coming
from the Columbus supplier was offered just in time delivery service at no charge to MARS Inc. Also,
this will affect the EOQ s because dealing with the Columbus supplier they were located close enough
that they offered JIT delivery which allowed the reduction minimizing work in process inventories

the change, it will force MARS Inc. to spend money on warehousing and carrying cost due to the one

discount and incremental discount schedules? How would the costs and EOQs differ? Which would be
preferable assuming that both share the same cost figures?
The difference between all unit quantity discount and incremental discount schedules are that in the all

incremental quantity discounts case, the unit purchasing cost decreases only for units beyond a certain
threshold and not for every unit as in the all units discounts

Active Learning Is The Key For Understanding, Not Passive...
Active Learning is the Key to Understanding, Not Passive Learning
According to Paulo Freire, a Brazilian educator and philosopher, the current education lacks teacher
student communication. In his article he reveals that, Instead of communicating, the teacher issues
communiques and makes deposits which the students patiently perceive, memorize, and repeat. This is
the banking concept of education, in which the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as
far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits.
Basically, Freire s argument is that education should involve student teacher knowledge exchange,
rather than the teacher being the one teaching all the time. As someone who is an educator, Freire
understands that knowledge is a result of active learning rather than passive learning. He likens the
current education to a banking system whereby the teacher just deposits information into the students
empty heads. Freire complains that this type of education does not give students the understanding
they need to connect the material with reality. In fact, he stresses out that students just memorize what
is said by the teacher without understanding the concepts. Due to that, he further describes how the
concepts taught in class seem to be disconnected from reality since the students cannot relate how
education affects their day to day lives.
Although I agree with Freire that education should not be like a banking system, I cannot accept his
overriding assumption

Lack Of Communication In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
When both involved do not effectively communicate with each other, a distant marriage may lead to
discontent for all. Sinclair Ross s short story, The Painted Door , deals with the growing dissatisfaction
and loneliness of a farmer s wife, Ann, who feels alone as her husband deals with the harsh conditions
of the environment. This story demonstrates how deeply communication can affect a marriage, be it
bad or good. One of the most fundamental elements of a healthy relationship is communication. Lack
of communication in a relationship can result to severe consequences. Irrespective of the kind of
relationship, lack of communication magnifies issues in a relationship undermining the very
foundation of the relationship. The success of any relationship relies on one s ability to communicate
well. Communication is important in relationships as it allows us to share our interest, concerns,
support each other. John is a simple farmer who thinks the only way he can please his wife, is by
working all day to earn money for her. However, Ann would prefer he spend more time with her. Their
relationship is stressed even further when Ann is left at home alone with nothing to think about but
their relationship because John has to go to his father s house. The terrible snow storm accentuates
Ann s feelings of loneliness and despair. These feelings lead Ann to seek comfort and companionship
from Steven, the attractive friend of her husband, John, thus leading to John s suicide.

Beowulf By John Gardner
Beowulf, composed during the eighth century, has its roots in the traditions of the Anglo Saxon tribes.
King Hrothgar, a successful ruler, builds his mead hall, Heorot, where he entertains his guests and
warriors with songs and feasts. The jubilant songs and festivities anger a horrendous monster, Grendel,
who begins to terrorize the Danes, slaughtering and feasting on their corpses. Beowulf, a Geatish
warrior, sails to save the Danes from their misery by slaying Grendel. Beowulf remains one of the
most influential works of literature today because of its elegant tone and many contrasts. John Gardner

He hopes to discover the answer to his philosophical question by observing humankind. The Shaper is
the first significant figure who influences Grendel. The first song that Grendel hears is about Scyld
Shefing, the first king of the Danes. Although the Shaper s songs were magnificent and golden,
Grendel knows that they are all incredible lies. He recounts the gruesome day when Scyld battles the
kinsman marauders. Grendel is torn apart by poetry. As the name implies, the Shaper shapes the world
with his words into one that is more heroic and pleasant; his song promotes love, heroism, and beauty
all thoughts that instills meaning in the Danes lives. The reader sees the extent of the Shaper s
influence on men when Grendel says, They would seize the oceans, the farthest stars, the deepest

The E Commerce Company s Strategy
The e commerce company s strategy focus allowed it to differentiate itself by providing better services
to its customers. The company put an innovative business model in which customers would try out the
company s services without any cost. As time progressed, the company was able to generate revenue
from alternative means. In addition, the company began to generate revenue from an increase in the
willingness of its users to pay for additional services. First mover advantage is referred to as a

Credit cards may have been used in China, but they had yet to be trusted by the community, the
Chinese were not comfortable with them and preferred different mediums of transaction. Thus,
Alibaba established the payment system to provide the Chinese with a sense of safety, contributing to
the Chinese willingness to participate in online transactions. Regulations can pose a challenge for
businesses operating in emerging markets like China. For example, the internet was highly regulated
and was a reason why some foreign companies struggled to succeed in China. Alibaba navigate the
posed challenges well and took advantage of the opportunities while at the same time mitigating the
risks of operating. The popularity of Alibaba and the growth of e commerce in China attracted foreign
e commerce companies. In 2002, eBay entered the Chinese e commerce market through an acquisition
of 33% of EachNet, creating eBay EachNet. That same year eBay EachNet merged as the leader in
online auctions, leading to the capture of 79% of the online auction market by 2003. In consideration
of the growth in the online auction market, Alibaba launched Taobao.com as a rival to eBay EachNet.
Taobao.com was launched to capture the opportunities in C2C e commerce market in China. Having

Sammie Cornie-Original Writing
Although Sammie Cornfield, (also called Cornie ) was over sixty she acted like a teenager. She went
every where with wide eyed excitement. She was friendly and happy. She attracted people to her side.
She joined a religious congregation, and participated in all their functions. One of them helped her get
a little job. Her life was full and happy. It was only when she looked at the calendar, to check a date,
she realized it was Jake s Birthday. It was his birth day but she thought of that email. She recalled
sitting at her desk, looking at the screen. She had not kept a copy of the email. It was gone down into
the cyber sewer along with her account. The words didn t matter. The Sentiment was all she needed to
recall. That email was the opening of a cell door. Thank You! she announced in her little apartment,

Art history essay on Adopting an approach
Martin Robertson and Mary Beard s manuscript, Adopting an Approach, focuses on the study of
Athenian pottery. The manuscript begins, by describing Sir John Beazley and his revolutionary
method of studying Greek vases. The Beazley Method focuses on the technical conventions of Greek
Vases such as naming the artist, dating the pieces and then grouping them based off of similar
characteristics. Beazley provided for the first time a comprehensive framework of analysis for
Athenian painting, and a way of dating and classifying. (Pg. 16) However, what Beard s main
argument suggests is that it is not the artists that help us understand the importance of the vases
because even if a vase is assigned to a specific time period or artist, there is ... Show more content on

This particular kylix is a good example because it shows how the women contradict each other and
through this piece we can understand the jobs of each type of woman and we can speculate how they
balanced one another out in Athenian society.
Adopting an Approach has many strong arguments and claims throughout the manuscript. Particularly
in the beginning, Beard does a great job of enticing the assumed college level reader and relating to
that specific audience. She does this when explaining, understanding the images around us, by talking
about a French perfume advertisement. By doing this, she relates to the age group that would be
reading this manuscript by combining something that they might be familiar with, to something they
are unfamiliar with. Although this is initially a strong way to go about attracting the reader, it needs to
be done at the right moments. On pages fourteen and fifteen, she gives many more unrelated
examples, which ultimately, causes the reader to forget the original point trying to be made. Beard s
claim needed to be made quicker, before the reader loses sight of what the article is about. If this
article were to be published in the Undergraduate s Guide to Art History, I would eliminate a lot of the
extra examples that aren t necessary to get

Persuasive Essay On A First Date
When you meet someone new, it s really exciting. The feelings of love and euphoria are high and this
makes you feel good. Sharing your life with another person is an exciting experience. It s even more
exciting when you re compatible with this person. In order to figure out if you re compatible with a
potential partner, the dating period is necessary. Dating allows you to learn the quirks, likes and
dislikes of another person. You ll also learn whether or not you like spending quality time with them.
The typical first date for many couples involves dinner and movie. However, the dinner and movie
idea isn t always the best way to get to know each other. Sure, you can have conversation over dinner,
but when the movie is rolling, you both are ingrained in the movie screen. That s potentially more than
two hours engrossed in something else other than each other. There are tons of memorable ways to
enjoy and get to know one another on a first date that don t involve watching the big screen.

Analysis Of Lewis And The World Of Wonder
C.S. Lewis and the World of Wonder The Story Behind The Chronicles of Narnia Raindrops splashed
against the glass; but Jack stared past them, far beyond to the Green Hills. So beautiful. So
unreachable. Jack was born in Ireland in 1898, before most people had cars. They had no televisions
and no radios. The world was big and wonderful and mysterious. Jack s real name was Clive Staples
Lewis, but he didn t like that name. Would you? He picked the name Jack. He made everyone call him
Jack. If someone called him Clive, he would not answer. When Jack was six, his family moved. The
New House was huge, with empty rooms, long hallways, and dusty attics. Imagine exploring a house
like that. Jack also liked exploring books. His mother and father loved to read, and they saved all their
books. They filled the New House with books books in the study, in bedrooms, and on the stair
landing, books in the attic piled up to Jack s shoulders. Oh, the splendid hours he spent reading! On
rainy afternoons these books transported him to different times and different worlds. Jack made up his
own country called Animal Land. The animals wore clothes and talked and ruled the land. Jack s older
brother Warnie wrote stories about India with trains and steamships. Jack and Warnie combined their
countries into one country called Boxen. They wrote about Boxen together. Then Warnie left for a
boarding school in England. One hundred years ago, when Jack was a boy, many parents did not

Summary Of Daedalus And Icarus The Wealth Of Nations
Let me warn you, Icarus, to take the middle way, in case the moisture weighs down your wings, if you
fly too low, or if you go too high, the sun scorches them . In the story of Daedalus and Icarus,
Daedalus cautions his son against the dangers of flying too high and too low, as reaching either side of
these two extremes will be detrimental to the wings and thus to Icarus life. In The Wealth of Nations,
Adam Smith uses a literary device to describe his proposition about the effects of paper money by
inserting an analogous metaphor of the Daedalian wings to his argument, creating a succinct yet
powerful and illustrative explanation of his reasoning; by including the metaphor into his argument, he
shifts it from paper money being very beneficial to the commerce and industry of a country, to a
warning about it resting on a fragile balance in between insecurity and corruption, either of which are
negative characteristics of paper money as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smith begins his argument in the previous sentences, stating that paper money and banking enable the
country...to increase very considerably the annual produce of its land and labour (305). The medium of
paper money allows exchange to speed up and production increase and the commerce and industry of
a country are improved. This gives the topic of paper money a positive connotation. However, he
juxtaposes this with his next statement, saying that paper money makes commerce and industry
somewhat augmented and cannot be altogether so secure (305). His meaning by this is paper money
only creates a market that is larger in size, and it introduces the negative qualities that exchange has
always been prone to: insecurity and corruption. He also chooses the diction suspended to refer to the
Daedalian wings of paper money. The denotation of the word refers to paper money as something
hanging between a top and bottom. It is a

West Nile Virus Essay
By learning about different viruses in class, it sparked my interest in further researching a common
virus known to the word called West Nile virus. Affiliated with the genus Flavivirus, this virus can be
transported globally due to being classified as a mosquito borne arbovirus1. Mosquitoes, belonging to
the genus Culex, can facilitate the transportation of this pathogen by consuming the blood of an
infected bird, being the main reservoir, and then passing it on to another animal or human1 3.
Mosquito activity is at its peak during the months of summer and autumn, therefore these months
depict the most cases of West Nile virus4. Humans play no role in the transportation as they are coined
dead end hosts due to not being able to produce enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Majority of the infections, around 80%, can be categorized as asymptomatic but this is not the case for
all5. West Nile fever, indicated by fever, headache, nausea etc, can develop in approximately 20% of
the infected people5. In rare cases, less than 1% of disease ridden individuals can actually develop
more serious conditions like meningitis, encephalitis, and acute flaccid paralysis5. Classified as
neuroinvasive diseases, these clinical conditions are more prone to occur in older individuals
exceeding the age of 605. This doesn t exclude the population ranging from newborns to middle aged
as it hasn t been proclaimed that they are immune to developing some of these disorders6. Overall,
people infected with this virus will either experience mild symptoms or might have to deal with more
serious problems.
Surviving the neuroinvasive diseases does not mean that the battle is to be presumed over. Through
many reports, it has been stated that people still experienced symptoms of the West Nile virus even a
year after the diagnosis was made3. Long term consequences of the disease can be mental health
problems such as depression, tremors, headaches, muscle and motor weakness and etc3. But
researches have yet to come to a conclusion whether these consequences are due to the damage done
by the virus or the body s own immune

INTRODUCTION Christopher J. H. Wright is an Anglican clergyman and an Old Testament scholar.
He is the International Ministries Director of Langham Partnership International. He was the principal

London, England. In his book, Knowing Jesus Through the Old Testament, Dr. Wright looks to bring
about the unity between the Hebrew Scriptures and the understanding of Jesus pertaining to the Word
of God. Dr. Wright points out that the knowledge of Christ Jesus originated in the history of salvation
that was planned and worked by the Lord for the people of Israel. This book is one of the most ...

When we look at the book, what we can see is that it is targeted to Christians who have a limited
comprehension of the Old Testament. What Dr. Wright wants to do by way of his book is to illustrate
that the character, doctrine and ministry of Christ Jesus came by way of His own knowledge of the
Old Testament. He uses very important portions of the New Testament in order to help us in knowing
who Jesuswas and His purposes and plans that were in existence, are still present, and yet to come.
CRITICAL INTERACTION Dr. Wright uses and asseses the Old Testament as an announcement of
Christ Jesus. That is very easy for us to understand Scriptures very well. Sometimes, it seems to be
tense, as Dr. Wright doesn t appear to be suitable with the motive of going too far in his recollection
and application of the Old Testament passages. This factor is evident in the second chapter of the book
where he talks about and points out the meaning of typology, as he takes the attitude that it is not a
wonderful technique of interpretation. However, it is helpful when it is come across in the correct
technique. He provides a traditional yet broad frame as to how the Old Testament provides light on the
life of Jesus and His role as the Anointed One. Dr. Wright brings about the fact that the main purpose
of God for Israel from the time of Abraham was that they would be

Portage River Observation
On October 3, 2017 the 7th grade, team odyssey went on a trip to William Henry Harrison Park to
observe the Portage River and the ecosystems around it. There the 7th grade team observed the the
water quality of the Portage River. The 7th grade team used chemical, physical, and biological
indicators to observe the quality of the Portage River. The 7th graders took a nature hike and observed
the nature around the Portage River. There, a nature expert talked about invasive species, seed
distribution, and plants. When the water rises the seed pods come off of plants and float on the water,
the seeds then are carried to new places. The 7th graders talked about how the monarchs are declining
because of the lack of milkweed. They also talked about plants like goldenrod and poison ivy. Around
the Portage River there are habitats like prairies, forests, and floodplains. Plants in the riparian zone
help to filter the water before it goes into the river. The 7th graders also studied biological indicators.

Persuasive Essay On The Pension Crisis
Pension Crisis
When looking at for a governor that will contribute to a state s long term success, one must look for
the candidate that is not promising quick, instant relief, as citizens will have to pay for it eventually. In
the gubernatorial debate, while both candidates are unable to fully answer the pension crisis question,
Kim Guadagno seems to have the best ideas for addressing the issue. Phil Murphy s take on the issue
is that he desires to fully fund pension obligations as fast as possible, as this will gain the trust of New
Jersey citizens back. This sounds great in theory, but it is important to look at how he is going to do
this; in the debate he is unable to explain his plan. Guadagno addresses the issue by stating that in
order to fix the problem, fifteen billion dollars of New Jersey s thirty four billion dollar budget will be
required. This would mean budget cuts in almost all other areas of spending such as education and
transportation. While Phil Murphy s plan seems great, Guadagno quickly makes it clear that it is
nearly impossible to achieve. If Murphy were to achieve his goal, New Jersey citizens would pay the
price, and they would continue to pay the price for a long time. Guadagno, while not clearly stating
her plan, believes that it is best to address the issue with a thoughtful, affordable approach. In
conclusion, Murphy s plan might benefit certain citizens for a brief period of time, but will hurt
citizens in the long run, therefore, Kim Guadagno

Many cultures tend to confuse specialization account for gender differences (Wood, 38). In theory men and women are chromosomally not alike. Using gender schemata, children organize clothes, activities, toys, traits, and roles into those appropriate for boys and men and those appropriate for girls and women (Wood, 47). Now we come to our third approach of gender development which is Culture. The cultural theorists do not dismiss biological and interpersonal factors, but they do assume that these are qualified by the influence of culture (Wood, 47). What these culture theorists are suggesting is culture shapes, affects, and determines your gender. • 3. Gorbachev s Impact On The Soviet Union In March of 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev becomes general secretary of the Communist Party, bringing with him a wave of reform. His reform appeared in the form of a dual program, perestroika (to restructure) and glasnost (openness), changing the Soviet Union s domestic governmental policies, economic practices, and international relations for Gorbachev felt that his goals to improve the Soviet Union s economy couldn t be done without reforming the political and social structures as well. Gorbachev hoped that his reforms would reorganize and revive the USSR s economy, as it had been stagnant since the Brezhnev years. Gorbachev s call for an intense technological modernization was in the hopes of increasing industrial and agricultural productivity in order to increase efficiency and productivity. Whether Gorbachev was successful in his aims of economic rejuvenation will be examined within this essay, by examining perestroika and glasnost. When Gorbachev came into power, he realized that the Soviet Union and nations under the Soviet Union s control were struggling, their economies floundering, and the people were suffering. It was time for change. Gorbachev saw that in order to stabilize Russia a new approach was needed in order to properly address the situation in which the Soviet Union had found itself. Through the use of two overarching concepts, perestroika and glasnost, Gorbachev unintentionally began to deconstruct the communist party and the USSR itself. In 1986, ... It had to be organized as a multi departmental structure each devoted for Architecture and Design, Photography, Film and Video, and they should stand side by side with traditional arts such as Painting and Sculpture. Architect Philip Johnson built on this idea. The multi departmental structure seemed to best fit with the burgeoning International Style, a modernist architectural movement from which Philip Johnson belonged. In this architecture, buildings are designed with simple geometric lines and clean, precise surfaces and with minimum decoration. Walls are made almost entirely of glass, known as curtain walls a signature Johnson was known for that are used to give the building a light and airy appearance. The Museum of Modern of Art was the first to use the words International Style , which was a fitting term to introduce modernist arts to the world. Johnson and another renowned architect Henry Russell Hitchcock organized a major show under the title Modern Architecture: International Exhibition . There they described the International Style that expresses several design principles, that concerns with volume rather than mass and solidity, regularity instead of axial symmetry, and the proscription of arbitrary applied decoration . Phase I enzymes mainly catalyze the oxidation, reduction, and hydrolysis reactions, e.i. Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) are abundantly present in the liver and oxidize small molecules. Phase II enzymes catalyze mainly conjugation reactions that involve glucuronidation, sulfation, and acetylation. Active Learning is the Key to Understanding, Not Passive Learning According to Paulo Freire, a Brazilian educator and philosopher, the current education lacks teacher student communication. In his article he reveals that, Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiques and makes deposits which the students patiently perceive, memorize, and repeat. This is the banking concept of education, in which the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits. Basically, Freire s argument is that education should involve student teacher knowledge exchange, rather than the teacher being the one teaching all the time. As someone who is an educator, Freire understands that knowledge is a result of active learning rather than passive learning. He likens the current education to a banking system whereby the teacher just deposits information into the students empty heads. Freire complains that this type of education does not give students the understanding they need to connect the material with reality. In fact, he stresses out that students just memorize what is said by the teacher without understanding the concepts. Due to that, he further describes how the concepts taught in class seem to be disconnected from reality since the students cannot relate how education affects their day to day lives. He uses very important portions of the New Testament in order to help us in knowing who Jesuswas and His purposes and plans that were in existence, are still present, and yet to come. CRITICAL INTERACTION Dr. Wright uses and asseses the Old Testament as an announcement of Christ Jesus. That is very easy for us to understand Scriptures very well. Sometimes, it seems to be tense, as Dr. Wright doesn t appear to be suitable with the motive of going too far in his recollection and application of the Old Testament passages. • 32. Persuasive Essay On The Pension Crisis Pension Crisis When looking at for a governor that will contribute to a state s long term success, one must look for the candidate that is not promising quick, instant relief, as citizens will have to pay for it eventually. In the gubernatorial debate, while both candidates are unable to fully answer the pension crisis question, Kim Guadagno seems to have the best ideas for addressing the issue. Phil Murphy s take on the issue is that he desires to fully fund pension obligations as fast as possible, as this will gain the trust of New Jersey citizens back. This sounds great in theory, but it is important to look at how he is going to do this; in the debate he is unable to explain his plan. Guadagno addresses the issue by stating that in order to fix the problem, fifteen billion dollars of New Jersey s thirty four billion dollar budget will be required. This would mean budget cuts in almost all other areas of spending such as education and transportation. While Phil Murphy s plan seems great, Guadagno quickly makes it clear that it is nearly impossible to achieve. If Murphy were to achieve his goal, New Jersey citizens would pay the price, and they would continue to pay the price for a long time. Guadagno, while not clearly stating her plan, believes that it is best to address the issue with a thoughtful, affordable approach. In conclusion, Murphy s plan might benefit certain citizens for a brief period of time, but will hurt citizens in the long run, therefore, Kim Guadagno ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
