The Successes of Progressive Era Reformers
The Successes of Progressive Era Reformers
The Progressive movement was very influential in many ways to early twentieth century America.
Businesses became safer, and much more respectful towards their employees. Society accepted moral
changes, and became safer communities. The government was affected by the Progressive movement
becoming much more democratic, and caring more for the needs of its people. The Progressive
movement was successful in reforming American business, society and its government policies in
many different instances. The Progressive movement was based mainly on the improvement of human
nature and businesses were treating many workers badly. Many muckrakers worked to end the terrible
conditions that many workers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Progressives knew of the terrible conditions that many laborers were going through in factories and
workplaces across America, and they rose up to the challenge of fighting against them. While
Progressives reformers worked for change in many different areas, the improvement of society was
one of their most important goals. In terms of society, Progressive reformers wanted to focus on three
specific areas. These areas were education, sanitation in tenements or housing, and conservation of the
environment (heritage.org). Progressives wanted education to be based on hands on learning, and that
experience is the best teacher (Hayes). John Dewey and some others created a form of Progressive
education that was based on teaching young kids how to live along with other knowledge (Hayes).
Sanitation for many of the crowded tenements in urban areas was lacking (Caswell). Muckraker Jacob
Riis looked to change this and with the publishing of his book How the Other Half Lives (1890), New
York and some other states began to pass building safety codes such as the New York State Tenement
Housing Act (Caswell). The conservation movement that commenced because of the Progressive party
would not have been successful without Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt and John Muir together were
able to alter the public s view of American lands (memory.loc.gov). Roosevelt worked together with
Congress to pass many acts that preserved America s beauty such as the American Antiquities Act

Diabetes Mellitus ( Iddm )
Diabetes Mellitus In the pancreas, there are specialized cells that form small islands of cells, called
islets of Langerhans, that are alpha cells and beta cells. In these endocrine cells, they release
pancreatic hormones, such as insulin and glucagon that diffuse into the bloodstream to regulate
glucose levels. Beta cells secretes insulin, which regulates carbohydrate, protein, fat metabolism and
storage. On the other hand, alpha cells secrete glucagon, in which it breaks down stored sugar
(glycogenolysis). Without enough production of insulin, glucose remains in the blood that generates
an increase levels of sugar in the blood. In Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), which is also
known as type 1 diabetes there is a continuing destruction of β cells leads to progressive loss of insulin
secretory reserve with, in order, loss of first phase insulin secretion in response to an intravenous
glucose tolerance test, then to clinical diabetes when insulin secretion falls below a critical amount,
and finally, in most but not all those with type 1 diabetes, to a state of absolute insulin deficiency
(Daneman 2006). In other words, majority of the cells that are suppose to produce insulin from the
pancreas are eternally destroyed. According to Barr (2008), in Noninsulin dependent diabetes mellitus
(NIDDM), also called Type II diabetes, is a progressive disease caused by a combination of complex
metabolic disorders that result from coexisting defects of multiple organ

Allam Iqbal
Explain the Ideology of Pakistan in the light of sayings of Allama Iqbal?
Ans. The social or political Programme of any movement that becomes a collective objective of any
nation is called Ideology. OR
Ideology means such an aim according to which human beings planned about their future.
The Ideology of Pakistan
The Ideology of Pakistan was the consciousness of the Muslims in the historical perspective of the
south Asian sub continent that they were a separate nation on the basis of the Islamic ideology. No
doubt Islamic ideology is the base of ideology of Pakistan so the basic fundamentals of Islam are also
the bases of the Ideology of Pakistan.

In his Allahabad address he said:
Islam is a lively power which frees human mind from thoughts country and race. If we understand this
thing then we can be the leaders of prominent Indian civilization.
10. Islam is the way to success
Allama Iqbal said in relation to Islam:
The lesson which I learnt from history is that Islam always helped the Muslims. Even today, Ideology
of Islam can save your being from destruction by uniting your divided powers .
11. No other ideology of life than Islam
On the publication of his poem, Khazr e Rah people started to call Allama Iqbal as communist. He
rejected this balance firstly in his essay and then in a letter to All e Ahmed Sarwur in 1937. He said:
To me capitalism, communism and other isms of this world have no importance. Islam is the only
reality which is the reason of salvation. To have a contract with any other ism is just like to be out of
Islam.
12. Opposition of Nationalism
He described the reason of opposition of nationalism in the words:
I am opposed to nationalism, not because if it is allowed to develop in India. It is likely to bring less
material gain to Muslims. I am opposed to it because I see in it the germs of atheistic materialism
which I look upon as the greatest danger to modern humanity

3 Major Life Decision Analysis
Three Major Life Decisions During many people s lives, people are faced with very overwhelming
decisions. There are so many life decisions people have to accept in order to have extra accessories
and needed accessories. Whether it will cost from $100,000 to $100, they re still decisions that can
change a person s life. Sometimes very big life decisions won t cost anything but is still very hard to
decide. Although some people don t give much thought to when they make major life decisions,
people should put some thought into it to make sure they re prepared. People, throughout life, have
major decisions such as buying a home, getting married, and having children. One major decision
would be buying a home. Most people in their life are going to end up buying a ... Show more content

Some people during their life, adopt their children, but others have their children or don t have
children at all. Before children are in a person s future, even though someone may want a child, make
sure you re physically and financially be able to have children. Kids cost a lot of money from day one
all they way to them graduating from high school as hopefully they do. Also make sure you re capable
of watching them because normally newborn parents aren t able to sleep eight hours a night. If they
cause something to happen or get in trouble it goes to the parents. For example, if someone s kid hit
another person s neighbor s mailbox with his baseball bat, he might get in serious trouble, but his
parents are the ones going to end up fixing the mailbox. As many people have heard of the terrible
twos when they grab anything and break it, not as many people have heard about the terrible teens
when they sneak out of the house going to their boyfriends and catch her coming home, there is a
chance she is going to have her own baby in about nine months. Many people aren t ready for the

The Rise Of Rome s Decline Of 378 Ad ( Wilkes, 1992 )
After Rome s decline in 378 AD (Wilkes, 1992:265), parts of the amphitheater were restructured and
used as chapels. The main sanctuary was built into the alcove, which originally housed the pulvinar
(elevated imperial box) and vomitorium. Byzantine mosaics and frescos indicate that these chapels
were created during the fifth century AD (Figure 4; Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574 575; Isufi,
2006:11; Jacques, 1995:154; Karaiskaj, 2004:13; UNESCO, 2004:35 37). A second chapel and
possible third were built on the north side of the stadium (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et
al., 2003:392). Sometime during the seventh century, the arena began to be used as a graveyard,
known as the necropolis. There are also several Byzantine art forms, dating from the ninth through
eleventh centuries (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:581; Bowes et al., 2003:391 392; Jacques, 1995:154
155; UNESCO, 2004:36 37). The cemetery ceased to be used by the inhabitants of Dyrrachium, at
some point during the Middle Ages (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:388 389).
Figure 4. Byzantine mosaics and frescos (Ponce de Leon, 2013)
The last known mention of the amphitheater was by Marinus Barletius in the early sixteenth century.
As the modern city of Durrës grew, the auditorium was covered over and forgotten about. Throughout
the Ottoman expansion of the city, parts of the arena s walls were used as foundations for homes
(Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:570; Giandebiaggi and Vernizzi, 2013:527).

Comparing Roosevelt s Court Packing
Contrasting Roosevelt s first term, in his second term as president few legislations was passed with the
second part of his new deal. The additional of the Housing Act of 1937 , a reconfigured version of the
Agricultural Adjustment Act12 and the Fair Labor Standards Act12 were added to benefit to the
working class as it did in his previous term. The inclusion of the Work Progress Administration would
again expand the government spending with an addition of 5 billion dollars to construct serval public
park. What will be the most controversial issue in Roosevelt s services as president is the overreaching
of the executive power with the proposal of the Judicial Procedure Reform Bill of 1937 , or Court

thought on Roosevelt was that the New Deal did not adequately help citizens living in poverty.
Another major threat to FDR came from the National Union for Social Justice, led by Father Charles
E. Coughlin , a former supporter of the New Deal. Using the same method of hosting a radio show,
Coughlin deem the New Deal as not being radical enough and push for the absolute federal control of

The Collar And To The Virgins, By George Herbert And...
Renaissance poets explain their experience through religion, nature, and love; poets would also write
fictional poetry. Poets, George Herbert and Robert Herrick provide a biblical view on the relationship
between God and man. For instance, Herbert s poem Love explains how man is guilty of his sins and
if he is still worthy of God s love. Herbert explained that man should serve the Lord out of humility.
Aside from his God fearing nature, both men share a desire for freedom from religious devotion. They
feel that their commitment to God hinders them from gaining freedom as a normal person, such as
participating in a town activity and venturing the city streets freely. Herbert and Herrick express their
opinions on freedom, relationship between God and man, and poet characteristics. Herbert and
Herrick s poems The Collar and To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time, portray a sense of freedom
and time. In Herbert s poem The Collar, the speaker wants to enjoy life without any religious acts. For
instance, he wants to pick fruits and wear garlands; however, the speaker feels like a captive to his
devotion to the Lord. He wants to enjoy life, for he is afraid of disobeying God. The title The Collar
indicates a slave of God . One can assume that Herbert s dedication to God s worship prevents him
from gaining freedom and time to a free world. Herrick s poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of
Time, the speaker compares nature s aspects to time. For example, he compares blooming flowers to

Hester Prynne Analysis
D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and literary critic, penned his essay On the Scarlet Letter as a
critique of the novel The Scarlet Letter written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Lawrence argued that Hester
Prynne, the novel s protagonist, is not a victim, but rather is a sinful, corrupted character acting in her
own self interest. Lawrence was effective in portraying his analysis of Prynne by his use of harsh
diction, biblical allusions, and choppy syntax. The harsh diction utilized by Lawrence in his essay
achieves his purpose. Lawrence began his critique by introducing his cynical perspective that the
greatest triumph a woman can have, especially an American woman, is seducing a man, especially if
he is pure (Lawrence). This hyperbole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He emphasized irony through these contrasts, because of the ways in which society has portrayed both
Prynne and Magdalene from their independent actions. Lawrence writes and instructs to take Prynne
and put her on the scaffold and worship her there (Lawrence). This opposes Prynne s sinful shame on
the scaffold to the pure worship of the Virgin Mary. His purpose in satirizing the two is achieved, as he
creates a mockery of Prynne s misconduct.
Similar to Magdalene, Lawrence argued that Hawthorne s portrayal of Hester as a victim is inherently
flawed, and her scheming nature insists that her able nature be further questioned. With this in mind,
Lawrence compared Prynne to the biblical character of Abel (Lawrence). In the book of Genesis, the
Holy Bible explains that Cain murders his twin brother Abel out of a fit of jealousy. Since Prynne
takes on the role of Abel in his critical essay, Lawrence s tone deemed the symbol of Cain to be the
root cause of Prynne s sin. Like Abel, Prynne is viewed by society as a victim, as thus has a reputation
forever defined by these labels. This is seen most in The Scarlet Letter as Prynne never completely
escapes her identity as a sinful woman. Although Prynne lives on in the conclusion of the novel while
Dimmesdale died, her actions lead her in a permanent state of separation from God. Furthermore,
Lawrence s selection of choppy syntax communicates his aggressive stance on Prynne. Through

Using Images And Image Optimization
It s said that a picture is equal to 1,000 words. However, in most discussions of SEO best practices,
the topic of image optimization is a bit of an afterthought. Many of today s best practice guides for
image optimization remain very similar to what an aspiring SEO might have read a decade ago. In
recent years, the emergence of social media, the emphasis placed on page speed optimization, and the
use of structured data and rich snippets have changed the game a bit. Looking ahead to the future,
SEO practitioners and business owners may need to entirely re think how they approach using images
and image optimization. But before breaking down the past, present and future of SEO for images, it s
worth looking at why this subject is an important one, and perhaps far more critical for some
industries than they may realize. Why Image Optimization Matters Businesses like accounting
software companies or psychotherapists probably place a limited emphasis of image results in search
engines. Their offerings are not highly visual, and text is a good medium for conveying their
messages. Alternatively, businesses like a jewelers selling cufflinks, or a local businesses specializing
in custom signage must be very aware of their presence in the image results of Google, Yahoo, and
Bing. If they aren t, they re missing a lot of potential market share. With product offerings that are
largely in demand based upon their visual appeal, a strong organic presence in the image results can

The History of Mr. John Deere
The History of Mr. John Deere I will never put my name on a product that does not have the best that
is in me. This is arguably the most famous quote made by Deere and that has stuck with the company
for the last 175 years. Deere was the man who kick started modern farming by inventing the first ever
cast steel plow, as opposed to the much heavier cast iron plow that worked alright in the sandy soil but
the fertile heavy soil of the plains would just stick too. This is how john Deere s steel plow became
known as The Plow That Broke the Plains. Mr. John Deere was born in Rutland Vermont in 1804, and
grew up in nearby Middlebury. Deere was just four years old when his father, William, was lost at sea
and never returned leaving his mother, Sarah Deere, to raise him. Deere was not an only child, living
with five brothers and sisters in a moderately poor family so there was no leftover money for
education. John very rarely attended school and focused his time on work to make money to support
his family. He worked for a few different people, such as farmers and shop keepers but did not stay
with a job for more than a few months at a time. until age 17 when he got an offer for an
apprenticeship working for a blacksmith in a town about 50 miles from home, with his mothers
permission he left home to go to work learning the trade of blacksmithing. Deere was naturally gifted

Essay on Traditional vs Distance Education
Education is an essential element in societies throughout the world. For many years education has
been provided in classrooms on campuses worldwide, but there has been a change made to the
conventional method of classroom learning. With the advancements in technology, education has been
restructured so that it may be accessible to everyone through taking courses online. Distance learning

According to Fox (1998), what is in dispute is not whether distance education is ideal, but whether it
is good enough to merit a university degree, and whether it is better than receiving no education at all.
He alludes to an argument that states students learn far too little when the teacher s personal presence
is not available because the student has more to learn from the teacher than the texts. Thus, in order
for the student to be taught well, does the teacher have to be personally present?
Many advocates of distance education are ardent about their venue and very critical of traditional
education. These online education devotees view traditional classes as being unchangeable, inflexible,
teacher centered, and static (Fitzpatrick 2001). However, proponents argue that many simply would
not be able to get a degree without distance education—the full time police officer, the mother of four,
or the individual living in a rural area approximately 100 200 miles away from any educational
institution. Many individuals desperately need distance education courses because they have jobs,
families, civic responsibilities. They are thirsting. But some want us to say, Sorry you don t want to
drink the water there, but we can t bottle our fresh spring water, so you ll have to come here or drink
nothing (Fox, 1998, p. 5). Proponents contend that distance education is as good as traditional
education. In other words, learning occurs

Jessie Pope War Women Analysis
Masculinity and Femininity in Jessie Pope s war poems: War Girls and The Call The world wars have
greatly impacted modern British literature in the 20th century. There were many poems written about
the period of war; some showed them in a positive light and some negative. Gender roles, gender
relations on what means to be a man or a woman impacted greatly during this time. In particular with
World War I, women in large numbers took over jobs in the homeland while the men were out

because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the poem as it
follows the rule of 3 of a poem to describe the qualities of the new woman now. It is controversial to
the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a man more than a

usage of the word grit in line 6 is also a word associated with masculinity but it is used in the poem to

explains that the war brought redemption and freedom to women. A definitive declarative statement is
made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her
confidence in the women of Britain who are serving their country by being the workforce. The shift in
the gender roles is empowering for women during the wartime and Pope associates this with
patriotism as well. The heavy van the girl is driving is especially described as heavy because women

Robert Lorway s Defiant Desire
Review of
Defiant Desire in Namibia Robert Lorway delivers a feminist perspective with his ethnography,
Defiant Desire in Namibia . Lorway examines sexuality as both a social construct and a political one.
While this ethnography provides unparalleled information about gender and sexuality in the poorer
world, there are a few important flaws, such as the lack of information about radical ideas or behavior,
neglect of his own bias, and the length of the ethnography.

also claimed that it is not uncommon for women to be raped in Namibia, and being lesbians give them
a better sense of security. HIV is extremely prevent in Namibian society, and some of these women
even report a fear of sleeping with men for this reason. Lorway arrived in Namibia in 2001, shortly

History of the Assembly Line
Back during the second World War, my grandma had to go into the factories to work. At that same
time, my grandpa, her husband, was over fighting in the war. She was a Rosie the Riveter and went
into the factory to work for General Motors. Sadly, she is no longer with us so everything I have
learned about her in the factory are stories that have been passed down.
General Motors at that time was making anything from tanks to ammunition casings (Carroll, n.d.). I
was unable to track down what exactly my grandma was working on but at that time she lived in
Pontiac, Michigan and many plants around there were producing a variety of different products for the
war. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

These fifteen million cars accounted for over half of all automobiles that were sold by that time
(McKenzie, 2015). Also, in the 1920s, the assembly got a slight upgrade. The original rope and pulley
assembly lines were upgraded to mechanized conveyors. The next big upgrade to the assembly line
was in the decade of the War. This is when robots were first introduced to the assembly lines. This was

automation could possibly do for the line. These robots did not run purely by themselves, the workers

Introduction
Some of the more remarkable archaeological discoveries in the 20th century were made by Dame
Kathleen Kenyon. Kathleen Kenyon was born into the heart of the English scholarly community and
with all the help that influence and connections could provide became one of the foremost excavators
in Great Britain. Even though Miss Kenyon was purported to be a Christian, she did not argue for the

This appointment was influenced by the obvious fact that her father was the Director of the British
Museum and co president of the Somerville College Archaeological Society. At this point in her
matriculation, the principal of Somerville College became more vested in Kathleen s future. Margaret
Fry would steer Kathleen away from the traditional female calling of becoming a teacher and would
influence Kathleen to pursue archaeology as a career.
Pursuing Archaeology
Kathleen s first archaeological experience was in the Great Zimbabwe in Southern Rhodesia as a
photographer where she was joined by Gertrude Caton Thomson. This expedition had been made
possible by her father s facilitation and connections along with Margaret Fry s persuasion. As she
would prove useful on this excavation, being both industrious and reliable, her duties would expand
beyond taking pictures to overseeing the workers assisting at the site. After she returned to England, at
the completion of the Zimbabwe expedition, Kathleen joined Sir Mortimer Wheeler s staff at his
excavation at Roman Verulamiun (St. Albans), north of London. While there she would study Wheeler
s method of stratigraphic excavation. Wheeler s findings were based on the concept developed by
geologist William Smith where materials accumulate on a site through a sequence of layers that
explain the historical timeline

Rock And Roll Outline
a. What is rock and roll?
i. Rock and roll music began developing in the 1950s and still continues to grow today. This is a type
of music that almost everybody in the world is somewhat familiar with due to how popular and
successful rock and roll has become. Today, rock and roll represents almost one third of the U.S.
market and more than twice the market share of the second place rap/hip hop. (online book, cite). One
of many reasons rock and roll grew to be so infectious is because of its acceptance of all people no
matter their race, gender, style, etc. This genre has several sub genres that have branched off from the
original rock and roll style, all of which contributed to making rock and roll so contagious.

Due to lack of rightful accreditation back in the 1950s, Helen Kolawole expresses her opinion about
how the entertainment industry should finally be upfront about the originations of several hit songs
that credited white artists instead of the originators who were black. For example, Elvis Presley is a
well respected legend who was known as the king of rock and roll. Due to Elvis being so successful in
his career, the issue of several songs recorded by him, originally being written by black artists, arises
and irritates people of the African American race. It is prejudiced that this white God is forever
remembered as one of the biggest stars in history when his success was partly based off of black
artists who continue to be unrecognized. It is fair to say that several white artists are better known for
their success over black artists. Helen Kolowale makes a valid point in relation to media arrogance
and dishonesty means we are eternally bound to live in a skewed world where Elvis is king of rock n
roll, Clapton is the guitar God, Sinatra is the voice and Astaire is the greatest dancer. (article by Helen)
This advertised assumption plays a significant role in leaving behind several originators who were of

Seaworld Inhumane
SeaWorld should be shut down for its cruel, and inhumane methods of keeping and training animals.
Orcas, dolphins, and other animals are used like machines, and not living things. They are confined to
tiny tanks, taken away from their homes and their families, and forced to perform for the
entertainment of people. Orcas at SeaWorld would need to swim 950 times around the bathtub like
tanks that they are kept in just to equal half of the distance that they would swim in the wild. Due to
the tiny tanks, orcas are seen with rake marks . Rake marks are painful gashes that occur when one
whale drags it s teeth across across another whale s body. Since the whales will often get irritated with
each other, fights will occur, but the whales have no where to escape to. No where to go. Imagine

Pinnipeds are living lives of misery as well. Pinniped is another word for fin footed mammal .

These things are rarely, and almost never documented in the wild. Seals and sea lions are given no
shade in their enclosures to protect them from the sun, which can result in stress, sunburn, and eye
damage. Lastly, the dolphins. I have never met a person who didn t love dolphins. Who wouldn t adore
these sociable and intelligent animals? Like orcas, dolphins swim miles and miles every day while out
in the wild, but at SeaWorld they are kept in tiny concrete tanks with nothing to do but listen to the
sound of their own echolocation bouncing off the walls back at them. Only in the past ten years, sixty
two bottlenose dolphins have died at SeaWorld. Their petting pools allow the public to pet, and even

Becoming A Mentee
I have been a mentee throughout various phases of my career as well as in school. I have had great
mentors who have been very open and honest about strengths and weaknesses and who have tried to
guide me over the years. It has been a tremendous benefit and something I probably took for granted
until I was asked to participate in a formal mentorship program at work. The mentorship committee
spent a lot of time developing documentation and discussing goals and expectations for both sides
which I found encouraging. The mentees and mentors were given an overview of what to expect and
how to prepare for their meetings with the mentee clearly being told that they had to schedule the
meetings, determine the recurrence and drive the discussion. The mentors were given guidelines on
how to work with the mentees and how to encourage participation.
One of the key items I would identify as fundamental for mentees to be successful is to have them
develop and define a goal. The mentee must know what they expect to gain from the relationship to be
able to measure and determine if it was successful. One of the main points to cover with a mentee is to
ensure they understand that they are guiding their own destiny and the expectation that a mentor will

Paragraph On Afternoon Tea
Afternoon Tea The enjoyment of drinking tea like the British Patrician
British are illustrious as a fan of tea. England is the country outside of Asia, which is known as the
world s largest tea consumer. Since it was first introduced in the 17th century, the popularity of tea in
Britain is so shot. This popularity led to the motto of tea time which eventually became an essential
activity in the lives of the British. British predilection to drink tea evolved a tradition of drinking tea in
the afternoon which is known as the Afternoon Tea . The characteristic of this tea related ritual is the
tea served with snacks that arranged in the three tier tray.

In those days, people usually only have heavy meals twice a day, ie breakfast and dinner. Since the
dinner is served around eight, the time between breakfast and dinner were quite long, and it made her
craving for food in the afternoon. To deal with her hunger, she ate little cakes as a light meals while
drinking tea in his private room to await the dinner hour. Gradually, Anna obtained an idea to invite
her female royal friends for tea parties together. Quickly, the event was imitated by other patrician
ladies, make these habits become popular and become one of the British s Tradition. Due to this
activity usually held around three to five in the afternoon, it called as afternoon tea .
In contrast to the tradition of drinking tea in Asian countries, Afternoon Tea more as a moment to meet

afternoon tea is more focused on the lifestyle, rather than the tea itself. Thus, afternoon tea is similar

Hamlet s Madness Is Less Than Madness And More Than Feigned

Fact or Fake?
Hamlet s madness is less than madness and more than feigned . What is madness? Mad is a word with
such uncertainty that it can be stretched to mean an abundance of things more than just pure
psychological instability: a weariness of life; a suicidal impulse; a plotting charisma. In the play
Hamlet by William Shakespeare, a wild disagreement has been consequent for a series of years in the
case of the madness of Hamlet, the play s central narrative, was justifiable or feigned. As in any
decision, one must be given both sides of the controversy before making an impartial conclusion. The
case of Hamlet s madness is no exclusion. It is appropriate to say that Hamlet may have remained
sensible throughout the performance, especially in consideration of his rag flashes of what seems to be
psychological discipline and stability. However, Hamlet is perceived as disoriented by overwhelming
burst of hysteria after acquiring knowledge of his father s death, news of Gertrude s quick remarriage,
and Claudius becoming the new King. In the butt end it is up to the scholar to determine for him or
herself the psychological nature of Hamlet s madness, as it may have been the motive of William
Shakespeare, taking into review how open ended this subject continued throughout the play.
With Hamlet s return to Denmark he is made aware of his father s death, Old King Hamlet. His
reaction to his father s death is

Cambodia off from the world. He banned foreign and minority languages and attacked the

(The life of Pol Pot Cambodia 4). This statement is true because the Khmer Rouge did gain part of
their power by isolating the country, but Pol Pot is not fully responsible for that. There were other
people involved, like Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, Son Sen and Khieu Samphan all of these people were
also leaders in the Khmer Rouge. Nuon Chea was the second leader in the Khmer Rouge he is known

You might have heard of him. Andrew saw a huge opportunity while working for the railroads,
expanding tracks West and South from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rail tracks and bridges were
needed in great numbers all the way to the West Coast. A new, much more efficient process to make a
stronger iron had just been invented by Henry Bessemer in the United Kingdom and Andrew Carnegie
saw an enormous opportunity in making this new iron called steel from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
close to the iron ore mines and rivers for easy transport. But, the most important factor in deciding to
start this business was a law adopted in 1870 supported by the Republican Party, which had the
presidency and a majority in Congress. The law was a $28 tariff on imported steel, basically taking out
the British competition in one stroke. The tariff was upheld for a good 30 years. You may or may not

In participant observation, the researcher becomes, or is, part of the group that is being investigated.
Participant observation has its roots in ethnographic studies (study of man and races) where
researchers would live in tribal villages, attempting to understand the customs and practices of that

guilt; one is either guilt, or not guilty. Discovery is displayed, also known as evidence, and a final
decision, based on the assumptions of the jury or judge, is made. However, outside of a courtroom,
innocence is not so black and white. No person, at any part of their life, or any trivial circumstance is

The brothers clearly made their plans to kill Santiago Nasar to the town. The twins made it that much
easier for the town to stop the killing when they told Clotilde Armenta, We re going to kill Santiago
Nasar (52). Even though the twins made their plans known to the entire town, no one attempts to stop
them. The town s determination in sticking with their societal norms and honor code resulted in,

Following the death of Santiago Nasar, the guilt of the town causes the townspeople to commit strange
acts. For example, shortly after Santiago s death, Hortensia Baute ran naked into the street, Don

Progressives knew of the terrible conditions that many laborers were going through in factories and workplaces across America, and they rose up to the challenge of fighting against them. While Progressives reformers worked for change in many different areas, the improvement of society was one of their most important goals. In terms of society, Progressive reformers wanted to focus on three specific areas. These areas were education, sanitation in tenements or housing, and conservation of the environment (heritage.org). Progressives wanted education to be based on hands on learning, and that experience is the best teacher (Hayes). John Dewey and some others created a form of Progressive education that was based on teaching young kids how to live along with other knowledge (Hayes). In these endocrine cells, they release pancreatic hormones, such as insulin and glucagon that diffuse into the bloodstream to regulate glucose levels. Beta cells secretes insulin, which regulates carbohydrate, protein, fat metabolism and storage. On the other hand, alpha cells secrete glucagon, in which it breaks down stored sugar (glycogenolysis). Without enough production of insulin, glucose remains in the blood that generates an increase levels of sugar in the blood. In Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), which is also known as type 1 diabetes there is a continuing destruction of β cells leads to progressive loss of insulin secretory reserve with, in order, loss of first phase insulin secretion in response to an intravenous glucose tolerance test, then to clinical diabetes when insulin secretion falls below a critical amount, and finally, in most but not all those with type 1 diabetes, to a state of absolute insulin deficiency (Daneman 2006). In other words, majority of the cells that are suppose to produce insulin from the pancreas are eternally destroyed. According to Barr (2008), in Noninsulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), also called Type II diabetes, is a progressive disease caused by a combination of complex metabolic disorders that result from coexisting defects of multiple organ ... • 8. The Collar And To The Virgins, By George Herbert And... Renaissance poets explain their experience through religion, nature, and love; poets would also write fictional poetry. Poets, George Herbert and Robert Herrick provide a biblical view on the relationship between God and man. For instance, Herbert s poem Love explains how man is guilty of his sins and if he is still worthy of God s love. Herbert explained that man should serve the Lord out of humility. Aside from his God fearing nature, both men share a desire for freedom from religious devotion. They feel that their commitment to God hinders them from gaining freedom as a normal person, such as participating in a town activity and venturing the city streets freely. Herbert and Herrick express their opinions on freedom, relationship between God and man, and poet characteristics. Herbert and Herrick s poems The Collar and To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time, portray a sense of freedom and time. In Herbert s poem The Collar, the speaker wants to enjoy life without any religious acts. For instance, he wants to pick fruits and wear garlands; however, the speaker feels like a captive to his devotion to the Lord. He wants to enjoy life, for he is afraid of disobeying God. The title The Collar indicates a slave of God . One can assume that Herbert s dedication to God s worship prevents him from gaining freedom and time to a free world. • 9. Hester Prynne Analysis D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and literary critic, penned his essay On the Scarlet Letter as a critique of the novel The Scarlet Letter written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Lawrence argued that Hester Prynne, the novel s protagonist, is not a victim, but rather is a sinful, corrupted character acting in her own self interest. Lawrence was effective in portraying his analysis of Prynne by his use of harsh diction, biblical allusions, and choppy syntax. The harsh diction utilized by Lawrence in his essay achieves his purpose. Lawrence began his critique by introducing his cynical perspective that the greatest triumph a woman can have, especially an American woman, is seducing a man, especially if he is pure (Lawrence). This hyperbole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He emphasized irony through these contrasts, because of the ways in which society has portrayed both Prynne and Magdalene from their independent actions. Lawrence writes and instructs to take Prynne and put her on the scaffold and worship her there (Lawrence). This opposes Prynne s sinful shame on the scaffold to the pure worship of the Virgin Mary. His purpose in satirizing the two is achieved, as he creates a mockery of Prynne s misconduct. Similar to Magdalene, Lawrence argued that Hawthorne s portrayal of Hester as a victim is inherently flawed, and her scheming nature insists that her able nature be further questioned. With this in mind, Lawrence compared Prynne to the biblical character of Abel (Lawrence). In the book of Genesis, the Holy Bible explains that Cain murders his twin brother Abel out of a fit of jealousy. Since Prynne takes on the role of Abel in his critical essay, Lawrence s tone deemed the symbol of Cain to be the root cause of Prynne s sin. Like Abel, Prynne is viewed by society as a victim, as thus has a reputation forever defined by these labels. This is seen most in The Scarlet Letter as Prynne never completely escapes her identity as a sinful woman. Although Prynne lives on in the conclusion of the novel while Dimmesdale died, her actions lead her in a permanent state of separation from God. Furthermore, Lawrence s selection of choppy syntax communicates his aggressive stance on Prynne. Through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in most discussions of SEO best practices, the topic of image optimization is a bit of an afterthought. Many of today s best practice guides for image optimization remain very similar to what an aspiring SEO might have read a decade ago. In recent years, the emergence of social media, the emphasis placed on page speed optimization, and the use of structured data and rich snippets have changed the game a bit. Looking ahead to the future, SEO practitioners and business owners may need to entirely re think how they approach using images and image optimization. According to Fox (1998), what is in dispute is not whether distance education is ideal, but whether it is good enough to merit a university degree, and whether it is better than receiving no education at all. He alludes to an argument that states students learn far too little when the teacher s personal presence is not available because the student has more to learn from the teacher than the texts. Thus, in order for the student to be taught well, does the teacher have to be personally present? Many advocates of distance education are ardent about their venue and very critical of traditional education. These online education devotees view traditional classes as being unchangeable, inflexible, teacher centered, and static (Fitzpatrick 2001). I have had great mentors who have been very open and honest about strengths and weaknesses and who have tried to guide me over the years. It has been a tremendous benefit and something I probably took for granted until I was asked to participate in a formal mentorship program at work. The mentorship committee spent a lot of time developing documentation and discussing goals and expectations for both sides which I found encouraging. The mentees and mentors were given an overview of what to expect and how to prepare for their meetings with the mentee clearly being told that they had to schedule the meetings, determine the recurrence and drive the discussion. The mentors were given guidelines on how to work with the mentees and how to encourage participation. One of the key items I would identify as fundamental for mentees to be successful is to have them develop and define a goal. The mentee must know what they expect to gain from the relationship to be able to measure and determine if it was successful. One of the main points to cover with a mentee is to ensure they understand that they are guiding their own destiny and the expectation that a mentor will have all the answers is ... Hamlet s madness is less than madness and more than feigned . What is madness? Mad is a word with such uncertainty that it can be stretched to mean an abundance of things more than just pure psychological instability: a weariness of life; a suicidal impulse; a plotting charisma. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, a wild disagreement has been consequent for a series of years in the case of the madness of Hamlet, the play s central narrative, was justifiable or feigned. As in any decision, one must be given both sides of the controversy before making an impartial conclusion. The case of Hamlet s madness is no exclusion. It is appropriate to say that Hamlet may have remained sensible throughout the performance, especially in consideration of his rag flashes of what seems to be psychological discipline and stability. However, Hamlet is perceived as disoriented by overwhelming burst of hysteria after acquiring knowledge of his father s death, news of Gertrude s quick remarriage, and Claudius becoming the new King. In the butt end it is up to the scholar to determine for him or herself the psychological nature of Hamlet s madness, as it may have been the motive of William Shakespeare, taking into review how open ended this subject continued throughout the play.
