Immigrants In Philadelphia In The Seventeenth Century
Irish immigrants began arriving in Philadelphia in the seventeenth century in an effort to escape
poverty, starvation, and English oppression. By the eighteenth century, Philadelphia was a bustling
city growing rapidly in industry and the immigrants had dreams of a better life, free of the repression
they had experienced in Ireland. Pennsylvania seemed an ideal place for the emigrants since, as
McDaniel (2014) notes William Penn envisioned the province to be socially, economically and
religiously diverse where differences of opinion and backgrounds would naturally create a stable and
tolerant society. After surviving the often dangerous voyage from Ireland, the Irish were met with little
hospitality. Many of the colonists considered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon the number of emigrants increased so rapidly that jobs and housing became scarce and poverty
ensued. In addition to economic problems, religious differences increased tension. It seemed as if the
troubles in Ireland had traveled across the ocean. Irish Catholics arriving in America were faced with
the most prejudices. They were seen as unskilled, illiterate, immoral troublemakers who were stealing
jobs from other workers. Many were given low paying jobs or unable to gain employment at all due to
discrimination. Poverty led to gang formation, violence and crime. Alcoholism was also a problem as
many emigrants became saloon owners, since bars and whiskey were a big part of their Irish heritage.
As the number of immigrants grew, so did the increase in crime and alcoholism which perpetuated the
Philadelphians feelings of mistrust of the Irish. Philadelphia newspapers that neglected to include
information that was important and of interest to the Irish, were diligent in reporting negative stories
or in degrading Irish immigrants. There were also great misgivings concerning the Irish Catholics.
Massa (2016) notes that the evangelical Christian Protestants of the era perceived the Catholic faith as

Streptococcus pneumoniae Is a Gram positive bacterium in the shape of a slightly pointed cocci. They
are usually found in pairs as diplococci. Streptococcus pneumoniae are alpha hemolytic bacterium.
Streptococcus pneumoniae have a polysaccharide capsule that acts as a virulence factor for the
organism; along with surface proteins that prevent the activation of complement pathways, and pili
that enable S. pneumoniae to attach to epithelial cells in the upper respiratory tract. Streptococcus
pneumoniae lacks catalase and ferments glucose to lactic acid, like most other streptococci. However,
unlike most other streptococci, it does not display an M protein and it hydrolyzes insulin, which help
distinguish it from other streptococci. Streptococcus pneumoniae is the most common cause of
meningitis in adults and young adults throughout the world and is best known for causing pneumonia

Research Study: Due to a continuing increase in S. pneumoniae s antibiotic resistance, the search for a

promising; its production of the pneumococcal surface protein PspA makes it a good candidate for a
mucosal vaccine, which could be administered through the nose instead of an injection (a

Women And Girls Should Have Power Over Their Own Bodies
All women and girls should have power over their own bodies and the right to decide whether and
when to have children. Reproductive health is about safe pregnancy and childbirth, prevention and
treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and family planning and access to contraception. This is
the UN definition of reproductive rights, and is created based on UN s Millennium Development
Goals. The goals as well as this explanation are something all nations should thrive towards. I will
take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as well as reproductive
rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at Norway, one being that I am
myself from Norway, and can on some level speak based on my own experience. The main reason
however is that Norway has many times, and by many different surveys, been rated the best country in
the world to live in , and can therefore be seen as a primary example on reproductive rights. I will take
a look at the different policies put in place in Norway, as well, as the tittle states what claims partners,
family and the Norwegian state have regarding reproductive capacities.
First of a brief run through of the Norwegian family life. The period after World War II (1940 1945)

Case Study Of Virgin Atlantic
1. Background of Virgin Atlantic Virgin Atlantic Airways, a world known British airline , was
established as British Atlantic Airways in 1984 by the founder Richard Branson (VirginAtlantic,
2016). Its philosophy was to motivate individual with dynamic business culture to encourage
innovation (Doyle Bridgewater, 2012). Its mission is to grow a profitable airline, to be where people
love to fly and where people love to work (VirginAtlantic, 2016). Virgin Atlantic is renowned for
innovation and creativity within the airline industry as well as always prided itself on being fun,

The innovative culture originated from the founder Richard Branson who has British nationality and
strong leadership. No doubt that the focus of the report would be Virgin Atlantic innovative practice to
illustrate its culture. Culture becomes the integral part in all human societies, but it is difficult to
define (Hill et al., 2012, p.35 75). The organizational culture is one of the intangible aspects of the
company on affecting employees to behave and carry out the daily activities (Hill et al., 2012, p.67).
People are the main concern in an innovative culture since people should be empowered through the
culture to encourage creative ideas and willing to experiment without fear of failure (Bradley, 2013).
There is different leadership styles appeared in organizations or work environments. A leader or

Earth from Space
As beautiful as the earth is from the ground it is even more stunning from international space stations.
There are approximately 120 artificial satellites in space starting at a distance of 100 to 25,000 miles
from the ground. There are many different types of Artificial Satellites, each with a distinct job. Some
Artificial Satellites help predict the weather, while others gather information about the universe for
organizations like NASA. Satellites can see things far beyond human vision; they transform things
invisible to the naked eye into visible images.
These transformed images show how the sunlight, moisture, land and atmosphere react together to
make life on earth possible. These insights help scientists relate between the planet and it s life. So,
what exactly makes life? What are the essential components, which make life possible on this planet?
Why do sand storms in the Sahara affect the amazon rain forest 5000 miles away? The video Earth
from Space helps us understand the effects of forces on this planet.
It starts with the Sun, at a distance of 93 million miles away from the earth; it warms every inch on the
surface. One of the newer satellites by NASA called Suomi National Polar orbiting which was
launched in 2011, orbits 500 miles away from ground. It enables us to see more substances. For
instance, the spectrum is as long as the distance from New York to Los Angeles. In comparison, the
visible region to the human eye would be the size of a dime. The

Automobiles Then and Now Essay
Automobiles Then and Now
The automobile has become an important part in our nations economy. In fact such an important part
that is has called for many changes through out its history. One of the main changes is the body. In the
1950 s the body was made mostly of steel. This was okay if you like bulky, heavy, gas guzzling cars.
The main reason why steel was so widely used is that the steel industry was so huge and steel was so
cheep that it was the logical thing to use. However with all the advances in plastics it did not make
sense to use steel when a lighter more durable substitute became readily available and much cheaper.
Steel is still used though today because of its strength and protection to the passengers. Changes in ...

In the 1950 s the automobile hade drum brakes all the way around. The problem with drum brakes was
that they heated up easily and by heating up that would cause failure to the brakes, (Coates Del, Brake
System 1). Drum brakes would mostly heat up when traveling down hill, as one would have to apply
the brake often and there being no ventilation it was a accident waiting to happen. Most drum brakes
where mechanically actuated (Coates, Brake systems 2). This means that the brakes where actuated by
a cable and caused them to lock up very easily. The hydraulic brake was introduced in the 1950 s
(Coates Brakes Systems 3). This new braking system used fluid to apply pressure and greatly reduced
lock up. Disc Brakes have become the premiere stopping system on cars today. Disc brakes do not trap
water as drum brakes tend to do which causes them to slip and fail. Disc brakes also allow more
surface area to accept pressure from the brake pads making stopping faster. In addition to disc brakes
ABS (Anti lock Braking System) was introduced on motor vehicles in the United States as a safety
feature (Coates ABS Brake Systems). ABS brake system uses wheel speed sensors, a computer and a
modulator unit to prevent loss of tire adhesion during braking. ABS is now available on over 90
percent of all new vehicles. The ABS brake system does not operate when you apply the brake unless

their real colors and change throughout the story. We learnt the real background on their lives and not
just the stereotype of the two groups. PonyBoy Curtis, is part of the Greasers but he s not your typical

guest, by actually knowing them they can determine who is not coming to their park. Demographics is
known as factual knowledge of guest. The point of demographics is figure out who you are targeting
and know what they are coming for and to also figure out who you are not targeting. It s a good way to
ensure change in order to target the people who are not doing business with you. Psychographics are

Abigail Adams Character Analysis
Abigail Adams once wrote to her husband saying, If particular care and attention is not paid to the
ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and we will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in
which we have no voice or representation. . Abigail Adams, the husband of John Adams, was an
American leader who fought for women s rights. Abigail was very interested in political issues, and
often advised her husband. When writing to John, she expressed her affection, her support, and her
ideas on how a free America should be. Abigail was concerned about women s rights, women s
education, and the immorality of slavery, and she wrote to her husband about these issues a lot.

Living On The Streets Or Begging For Food
After the economic downturn from 2007 2009, homelessness has grown dramatically. Without having
a job, people cannot support their families or even themselves. The only other option for some jobless
people is living on the streets or begging for food. People classify homeless people as scary or losers,
but in reality, they are people looking for a life like everyone else. Homeless people do not have
anywhere to go, so why should there be laws against living on the streets or begging for food?
Every human in the United States has rights, but during this time and age, our human rights are being
abused. In Birmingham, Alaska, a police officer stopped a minister after serving the homeless food
from his meal truck. According to an article by ABC, Minister Rick Wood said the police forced him
to leave the area because he did not have a permit from the health department (qtd. in Fisher). This
incident is not the only one that has happened. The act of giving or sharing food with the homeless is
banned and against the law. And as Minister Wood learned, police are standing by ready to enforce
these laws, since apparently they have nothing better to do than take food away from the homeless
(Fisher). This is absolutely wrong. A generous man willing to share his extra food with someone who
is starving and may be starving for awhile, should not be illegal. If the homeless people are not
begging violently for the food they need, then I do not see one problem with sharing food that will

Taking a Look at the Tapeworm Diet
Individuals seeking to lose weight are constantly confronted with a variety of diets, supplements, and
weight loss products to choose from. The tapeworm diet is a quick and significant way to lose weight.
This method involves consuming parasites called tapeworms, which possibly can cause a person to
become seriously ill and can even lead to fatal complications. To follow this diet, a person ingests
tapeworms that go on to absorb some of the food that he or she eats, causing them to lose a significant
amount of weight. Doctors don t approve of this diet to be a safe and effective way to lose weight. In
fact, this diet is illegal in the United States of America. Though, you can still purchase tapeworms in
other countries or via the Internet. A person can obtain a tapeworm parasite through the ingestion of
raw meat from infected animals or by consuming the parasite in tablet form. After a person consumes
a tapeworm, traveling through the body, eating as it moves around. The tapeworm usually consumes a
significant portion of a person s food to cause a calorie shortage and weight loss. Certain tapeworms
can grow up to 15 30 feet in length and live up to 20 years in the host. When the tapeworm dieter
decides that they have lost enough weight, they take antibiotics to kill the parasite, eventually leaving
the body in a bowel movement. People have been known to take drugs designed to reduce the lifespan
of the tapeworm so that it is already dead when it is removed from the body.

One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich
The novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, follows the life of Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, a
Stalinist labor camp prisoner of the Soviet Union. The story only spends one day in Shukovs life in the
camp, but throughout this one day, Shukovs struggles and hardships in the camp are shown. This day
is filled with his daily struggles and chores, but to him, it ends up being a good day. Throughout the
novel many themes are shown. One major theme, in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, is the
battle for humanity and dignity. There are many examples in the novel of the prisoner s dignity being
taken away from them, yet they somehow still manage to go on living their lives in the labor camps,
with the little dignity they have left. In the novel, Shukov and the other prisoners have little to no

because he has no control over his own life and even sickness cannot help him. No sympathy from the
guards is shown to any of the prisoners in the camp, this goes hand in hand with how Stalin shows no
sympathy for anyone in the Soviet Union and it represents the decay of individuality, during this time.

Building A Conventional Sewage Treatment Facility
As in the case of rural non point source pollution; urban areas are not likely to fix all contamination
problems with one system. While it may be possible to build a conventional sewage treatment facility
that can handle any storm condition it is not likely that this will ever be cost feasible to do. One type
of larger combined sewage system that is being tried in several locations around the county where
proper topography allows is the aquatic marsh system. In this type of system sewage still goes through
the primary treatment of separation out the larger solids. Once these solids have settled out it move on
to the secondary treatment where it undergoes another process to remove biochemical oxygen
demand. This is done through introducing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the wet land treatment system is very effective in treating large quantities of sewage it still falls
short of the large problem. It still is not treating the problem at its source. There are other options and
systems that are in place to deal with urban pollution issues and flooding. Some example of systems
that have the potential to mitigate urban at their source are implementing low impact development,
installation of sand filters, infiltration trenches permeable pavers, storm water planters and green
roofs. Low impact development (LID) is not a new concept but is still considered innovated when
being discussed. LID is a storm water management program that manages storm water on site
compare to conventional systems that pipe it off to a central treatment facility or directly into local
water ways. Storms waters in the natural environment normally soak into the ground and are filter by
the soils and vegetation. When areas are urbanized the water now running off taking contaminate with
them. These waters can flow at fast rates causing increased flooding. The goals of LID are to lessen
the impact storm waters on the natural environment, use land more efficiently, and help to lower cost.
Site planning includes, minimizing areas of disturbance, maintaining, and restoring natural buffers,
minimizing impervious cover, disconnection impervious cover and minimizing soil compaction.

Ethics and Moral Reasoning

Singer s Famine, Affluence, and Morality In the Peter Singer s article Famine, Affluence, and Morality
, he discusses the way that people should take moral in their help toward the support of the Bengal
famine crisis. Singer states three obligations that would help the Bengal region through the means of a
wealthy person, and those individuals living life on a day to day basis. In this paper I will expound on
Singer s goal for each obligation, explain the three counter arguments with Singer s response, define
and identify marginal utility as it relates to Singer s arguments, and compare the ideas of duty ... Show

That persons with very low incomes may merit our sympathy is accepted, but sympathy leads to
charity, rather than to the involuntary exploitation of the better off (Narveson, 2004). Singer also says
that people with a maintainable amount of wealth should give more than the X amount asked for,
being that the predicament that some are not able to give or they can give less than the amount asked
for. Another, more serious reason for not giving to famine relief funds is that until there is effective
population control, relieving famine merely postpone starvation (Singer, 1972). The final and third
counter argument is that Singer question exactly how much we should be giving away. In this counter
argument, Singer talks of giving until one reaches marginal utility; or in the case where suffering
would have greatly increased or decreased in his self, if he gave more than one can afford to give. One
should avoid bad things from happening or sacrificing too much to help those in need. Giving until
you reach your marginal utility is only required. Singer believes we are obliged to give money away
until our sacrifice is of comparable moral importance to the agony of people starving to death
(Specter, 1999). This is our duty to do so. An example

Business skills for life has taught me many important life skills. We have covered career planning
skills such as making a resume or cover letter and completing a job interview. It has also taught me the
value and importance of a budget and how to make one. Another life skill that we talked about was the
different ways to save money. An important topic in society today that we covered was consumer
credit since the accumulation of credit cards and credit card debt is becoming an epidemic in America.
Lastly, we talked about retirement planning which is essential to anyone who plans to retire. One of
the first lectures we discussed was about career planning skills. We even had career services come in
and talk in more detail about the resume and cover letter. A resume should have several different
sections. There should be a personal data section, career objective section, education section, related
information section, and a reference section. Career services said including references is becoming
outdated, so you should only provide references if asked. A resume should also be formatted correctly.
It should follow reverse chronological order under each section. It should be concise and only one
page. The resume should have a simple format. You should highlight functional skills, and you can use
the acronym STAR. A resume should be S, situational depending on job, T, task your duties, A, actions
you took, and R, results or outcome. A resume should also be accompanied by a

Analysis Of Gone With The Outsiders
1. When Ponyboy awoke in the church he felt stiff, sore, scared, hungry, and confused. Ponyboy was
also panicky because at first he forgot where he was, and Johnny was not there. Pony tried to convince
himself that what happened last night was a dream, but he could remember every detail of the whole
night.
2. Johnny cared for Pony by buying Pony s favorite book, got supplies for the two of them, bought
bleach to disguise Pony, comforts him, tells him not to smoke too much, and lets him sleep on his
shoulder.
3. The boys changed their hairstyles because they needed to disguise themselves from the police, so it
would be less likely of them being caught. This was hard for them to do because their hair is a part of
who they are, it identifies them as a Greaser.
4. The boys passed time in the church by reading Gone With the Wind out loud, playing cards,
smoking, talking, and watching the sunsets.
5. Johnny feels that Dally is sort of like a hero, like the southern gentle men in Gone With the Wind.
Johnny really loves Dally. Johnny feels this way about Darry because he is cool and calm in scary
situations.
6. The information Dally brought the boys was Cherry became a spy for the Greasers, the Greasers
and the Socs were going to have a big fight, and the policemen were looking for them in Texas
because Dally told them that s where they were.

Far away, on the border of both France and Switzerland, lies the massive CERN Accelerator Complex.
This series of particle accelerators increases the momentum of packets of nuclei to almost light speed,
then collides them. It collects the debris of the resulting destruction in hopes of finding the basic
building blocks of matter. This is a basic overview of what happens at CERN, but when examined
more closely, this process becomes far more difficult and complicated. How does this Atom Smasher

direction, crossing them over in detector caverns. Here, computers take measurements to make sure
nothing unexpected happens, such as a packet colliding into a wall, or smashing into another packet
too early. When they are finally made to collide at four terra EV each, the computer tracks information
about the debris, small particles such as quarks, and keeps it as data. Thus ends the travel of the

they provide virtually no resistance for the electrons passing through them. The niobium titanium

observation. (Knight) The etic and emic orientated styles are two different styles that applied
anthropologists use in their field work. The etic orientated approach is a perspective that in
ethnography uses concepts and categories for the anthropologists culture to describe another culture.
(Ferraro/Andretta) The emic orientated approach is a viewpoint in ethnography that uses the concepts
and categories that are relevant and meaningful to the culture under analysis (Ferraro/Andreatta).
There has been much debate on whether the etic or emic orientated techniques of research should be
used in the field. Cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One will need to look to the humanities to understand the culture. This turn to the humanities is an
emic technique used in the field.
Emic orientated investigations succeed because it engages applied anthropologists to live with and live
like the people of the culture they are studying. It becomes a personal study under the emic practice.
Being personally involved allows one to connect to the culture and why that culture thinks and
performs a certain way.
Emic orientated research fails because it gets too personal with its subjects. This can cause one to stop
looking at its subjects as research to be analyzed but as people, which they are, to just befriend and not
critically think about. One may begin sympathizing with those within the culture and not be able to
learn about the culture from an outsider s point of view. It would be difficult from an emic view to
understand why a family may be dehydrated if they are blaming their religious beliefs when they are
in fact dehydrated because it has not rained for a month. Religion in this case would be an
unreasonable rationale.
You cannot understand a culture from just an etic approach; you need emic research methods as well
in order to get accurate information to help you understand that culture. Etic and emic investigations
both have their pros and cons, and together they compliment and support each other. The subsequent
will look at readings that give examples of etic and emic studies.

Goodfellas Essay
Goodfellas
(Goodfellas is the film adaptation of the non fiction book ?Wiseguy?, written by Nicholas Pileggi. The
film charts the rise and fall of Henry Hill?s thirty year career within the New York mafia. The film
was released in 1990 and was directed by Martin Scorsese. Goodfellas stars Ray Liotta as Henry Hill,
Lorraine Bracco as Karen Hill (Henry?s Wife), Robert Dc Niro as James Conway and Joe Pesci as
Tommy DeVito.
The film begins with one of the most horrific and sickening moments to appear in a film, the murder
of Billy Batts. At this point the viewer knows nothing of the background events that run up to this
scene. Additionally, the characters are not yet known, so there is no emotional baggage being carried

The purpose of the narration is to smooth over the various jumps in the story. Throughout the film sub
stories change quickly, narration is the device that covers the holes. Without narration the viewer
would become lost very quickly, and may not fully understand events. At the beginning of the film,
Henry is shown as a young boy looking out of his bedroom window admiring the lifestyle of the local
?Wiseguys?. Here follows a very quick succession of events that show how his character gets involved
with these people and what he does to earn more respect from them and eventually be accepted into
their group. The narration explains why he admires them so much, ?They did whatever they wanted?,
why he wants to part of their group and why he does what he does, ?It was about being somebody in a
neighbourhood of nobodies?.
Within the film there are four main characters; Henry Hill, Karen Hill, Tommy DeVito, and James
Conway. Henry and Karen are the only characters that are followed throughout the film. On the whole,
character development is kept to a minimum. For instance, many characters are introduced to the
viewer during a walkthrough steadicam shot of a bar. Most of these characters will be seen later on in
the film, but will only in the background of various scenes. The viewer may recognise these characters
but they still know no more about them. Even with the main characters there are large gaps in time and

Arthurian Historicism Analysis
The Retelling of Arthurian Historicism
During the beginning of the medieval era, a king was born. He was strong, smart, and a warrior. Until
a few centuries later his narrative changed again to fit the needs of the people. King Arthur of Camelot
was a figurehead for hope and prosperity to the early European peoples. Through out history there has
been speculation about the validity of the history of King Arthur and his court of knights. After the
medieval era, Arthurian legend became less prominent and more folklore that history. The people were
no longer in need of knights and mythical round tables. During the 19th century, poets took it upon
themselves to add different perspectives to the legends. Alfred Tennyson, an Arthurian enthusiast,
believed in the monarch as a historical figure and gear his poetry to toward a masculine Christian
theme. Much of his history arrived through the Geoffrey of Monmouth and historiography of British
monarchs. This belief in a true King Arthur allows readers of Tennyson s poems to reevaluate his
meaning and interpretation of the characters involved including their masculinity, femininity,
honorable characteristics, religion, and supernatural capabilities.
Along with Tennyson, Arthur Morris took an interest in the legends of King Arthur. However, his
interested were in the untold stories of individuals he felt were ill represented. In his interpretations he
adds Victorian cultural undertones to add something to the characters that was not

water per day (don t mistake thirst for hunger)  Sleeping eight hours per night (don t mistake fatigue

significant. In a perfect world, a nurse would have the time to maintain an exercise routine while
juggling a home life. It is not always possible for a nurse to get a healthy meal unless it is prepared

A Child With Down Syndrome
Piaget believed that children went through stages of development at specific times. Child development
is the biological and psychological changes that occur in human beings between birth and
adolescence. Typical development refers to the milestones that a child reaches at a particular time
during child development. Atypical development refers to not typical; not conforming to the type;
irregular; abnormal: atypical behavior. Down syndrome is characterized as a chromosomal condition
in which an individual possesses extra genetic material, specifically an extra complete or partial
duplicate of chromosome 21 in some or all of an individual s cells. During the developmental stages, a
child with Down syndrome will experience developmental delays in the areas of motor development,
cognitive development, language development, and social and emotional development. Down
syndrome is identified at birth and is a common condition.
Characteristics of Down Syndrome Children with Down syndrome have physical characteristics that
resemble a family member. A child with Down syndrome may have a face that is slightly broader with
a flatter nasal bridge. The eyes may slant upward and appear to have a small fold of skin on the inner
corners called epicanthal folds. The mouth may be small which may cause the tongue to appear large
and protrude due to poor muscle tone. The ears are small and their hands and feet are smaller. The
palms of the hands might have a single crease across it called

Scenario Between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie, And Patice
Scenario Explained
The scenario between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie and Doris is a classic issue of offer and acceptance.
These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of being an invitation
to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider whether the notice
placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does
amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was
willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at
the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation.
Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car,
from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent to
be legally bound. This is a unilateral offer where Arnold outlined the terms and condition to which he
is willing to be legally bound, he is inviting the public to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Moon Conspiracy Research Paper
There are many moon conspiracy theories that have been told to people all over the world. Many
people have tried to prove them right and prove them wrong. in, https://pseudoastro.wordpress.com,
spacecentre.co.uk, and in http://www.discovery.com, by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, Scott
Davis, and Stuart Robbins, the authors give evidence to why the fake Moon landing theory is not real.
The conspiracy theory that a man did not land on the moon is well known because of no stars in the
moon photos. The first piece of evidence that we did land on the moon is when the author states, The
reason they are not visible in photos has a lot more to do with photography than with astronomy. Stars

The first fact to go against the moon landing theory is when Stuart Robbins states, If you have
managed to get this far and still believe this claim, then let s actually get to what s really going on.
Have you ever scanned or photocopied something? If so, you know that any little piece of dirt, hair,
dust, or whatever that gets between your original and your imaging device will show up in the copy.
That is what happened in the case of the infamous C rock a hair (such as an eyelash) or a small piece
of lint got caught between the image and the imager when they were making copies of it. Plain and
simple. In the original photograph (close up shown below), there is no C. This confirms that it was just
some hair or fine particle that came between the camera and the rock. The second piece of evidence
that rebuttals against the moon landing conspiracy theory is when Scott Davis states, But in fact, the
label simply isn t there. The image of the rock is taken from a much larger shot of the Moon s surface,
and if you look at the original image (shown below left), the marking isn t there. Either a small hair or
piece of thread must have got caught in the machine while it was being copied (image below right).
This confirms that there was only something in between the camera and the

My Philosophy Of Teaching Language
My philosophy of teaching language is that in order for a child to achieve language they have to have
the desire to learn it. In my short time, I have overseen teachers implement a student centered learning
environment. Learning in my future classroom will always occur within cooperative and collaborative
group work. Having observed this strategy, this strategy is completely effective and positive to
reaffirm and develop strong student to student and instructor to students relationships. This only
reassures and establishes an honest and sincere communication in classrooms. I would also do my best
to create a positive and enjoyable environment for my future students, which motivates them to
participate actively in the activities. In today s classrooms, I find, they are becoming extremely diverse
in socioeconomic, academic, disability and ethnic backgrounds. To be able to provide a connection
and identity with the English language only becomes a more challenging task to achieve due to the
diversity of the group of students. Apply knowledge of language to understand how language
functions in different contexts, to make effective choices for meaning or style, and to comprehend
more fully when reading or listening (Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards). However, as
my duty and responsibility as an instructor, I am obligated to design activities that address the diverse
abilities and needs of each and every student. One of my primary goals of teaching is to help

  • 2. Immigrants In Philadelphia In The Seventeenth Century Irish immigrants began arriving in Philadelphia in the seventeenth century in an effort to escape poverty, starvation, and English oppression. By the eighteenth century, Philadelphia was a bustling city growing rapidly in industry and the immigrants had dreams of a better life, free of the repression they had experienced in Ireland. Pennsylvania seemed an ideal place for the emigrants since, as McDaniel (2014) notes William Penn envisioned the province to be socially, economically and religiously diverse where differences of opinion and backgrounds would naturally create a stable and tolerant society. After surviving the often dangerous voyage from Ireland, the Irish were met with little hospitality. Many of the colonists considered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Soon the number of emigrants increased so rapidly that jobs and housing became scarce and poverty ensued. In addition to economic problems, religious differences increased tension. It seemed as if the troubles in Ireland had traveled across the ocean. Irish Catholics arriving in America were faced with the most prejudices. They were seen as unskilled, illiterate, immoral troublemakers who were stealing jobs from other workers. Many were given low paying jobs or unable to gain employment at all due to discrimination. Poverty led to gang formation, violence and crime. Alcoholism was also a problem as many emigrants became saloon owners, since bars and whiskey were a big part of their Irish heritage. As the number of immigrants grew, so did the increase in crime and alcoholism which perpetuated the Philadelphians feelings of mistrust of the Irish. Philadelphia newspapers that neglected to include information that was important and of interest to the Irish, were diligent in reporting negative stories or in degrading Irish immigrants. There were also great misgivings concerning the Irish Catholics. Massa (2016) notes that the evangelical Christian Protestants of the era perceived the Catholic faith as ... They are usually found in pairs as diplococci. Streptococcus pneumoniae are alpha hemolytic bacterium. Streptococcus pneumoniae have a polysaccharide capsule that acts as a virulence factor for the organism; along with surface proteins that prevent the activation of complement pathways, and pili that enable S. pneumoniae to attach to epithelial cells in the upper respiratory tract. Streptococcus pneumoniae lacks catalase and ferments glucose to lactic acid, like most other streptococci. However, unlike most other streptococci, it does not display an M protein and it hydrolyzes insulin, which help distinguish it from other streptococci. Streptococcus pneumoniae is the most common cause of meningitis in adults and young adults throughout the world and is best known for causing pneumonia all other the world. Research Study: Due to a continuing increase in S. pneumoniae s antibiotic resistance, the search for a better vaccine is ongoing. Reproductive health is about safe pregnancy and childbirth, prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and family planning and access to contraception. This is the UN definition of reproductive rights, and is created based on UN s Millennium Development Goals. The goals as well as this explanation are something all nations should thrive towards. I will take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as well as reproductive rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at Norway, one being that I am myself from Norway, and can on some level speak based on my own experience. The main reason however is that Norway has many times, and by many different surveys, been rated the best country in the world to live in , and can therefore be seen as a primary example on reproductive rights. I will take a look at the different policies put in place in Norway, as well, as the tittle states what claims partners, family and the Norwegian state have regarding reproductive capacities. First of a brief run through of the Norwegian family life. The period after World War II (1940 1945) and until the end of the 60s are often called the housewife s prime. • 6. Earth from Space As beautiful as the earth is from the ground it is even more stunning from international space stations. There are approximately 120 artificial satellites in space starting at a distance of 100 to 25,000 miles from the ground. There are many different types of Artificial Satellites, each with a distinct job. Some Artificial Satellites help predict the weather, while others gather information about the universe for organizations like NASA. Satellites can see things far beyond human vision; they transform things invisible to the naked eye into visible images. These transformed images show how the sunlight, moisture, land and atmosphere react together to make life on earth possible. These insights help scientists relate between the planet and it s life. So, what exactly makes life? What are the essential components, which make life possible on this planet? Why do sand storms in the Sahara affect the amazon rain forest 5000 miles away? The video Earth from Space helps us understand the effects of forces on this planet. It starts with the Sun, at a distance of 93 million miles away from the earth; it warms every inch on the surface. One of the newer satellites by NASA called Suomi National Polar orbiting which was launched in 2011, orbits 500 miles away from ground. It enables us to see more substances. In fact such an important part that is has called for many changes through out its history. One of the main changes is the body. In the 1950 s the body was made mostly of steel. This was okay if you like bulky, heavy, gas guzzling cars. The main reason why steel was so widely used is that the steel industry was so huge and steel was so cheep that it was the logical thing to use. However with all the advances in plastics it did not make sense to use steel when a lighter more durable substitute became readily available and much cheaper. In the 1950 s the automobile hade drum brakes all the way around. The problem with drum brakes was that they heated up easily and by heating up that would cause failure to the brakes, (Coates Del, Brake System 1). Drum brakes would mostly heat up when traveling down hill, as one would have to apply the brake often and there being no ventilation it was a accident waiting to happen. Most drum brakes where mechanically actuated (Coates, Brake systems 2). This means that the brakes where actuated by a cable and caused them to lock up very easily. The hydraulic brake was introduced in the 1950 s (Coates Brakes Systems 3). This new braking system used fluid to apply pressure and greatly reduced lock up. Disc Brakes have become the premiere stopping system on cars today. Disc brakes do not trap water as drum brakes tend to do which causes them to slip and fail. Disc brakes also allow more surface area to accept pressure from the brake pads making stopping faster. In addition to disc brakes ABS (Anti lock Braking System) was introduced on motor vehicles in the United States as a safety feature (Coates ABS Brake Systems). ABS brake system uses wheel speed sensors, a computer and a modulator unit to prevent loss of tire adhesion during braking. ABS is now available on over 90 percent of all new vehicles. • 12. Living On The Streets Or Begging For Food After the economic downturn from 2007 2009, homelessness has grown dramatically. Without having a job, people cannot support their families or even themselves. The only other option for some jobless people is living on the streets or begging for food. People classify homeless people as scary or losers, but in reality, they are people looking for a life like everyone else. Homeless people do not have anywhere to go, so why should there be laws against living on the streets or begging for food? Every human in the United States has rights, but during this time and age, our human rights are being abused. In Birmingham, Alaska, a police officer stopped a minister after serving the homeless food from his meal truck. According to an article by ABC, Minister Rick Wood said the police forced him to leave the area because he did not have a permit from the health department (qtd. in Fisher). This incident is not the only one that has happened. The act of giving or sharing food with the homeless is banned and against the law. And as Minister Wood learned, police are standing by ready to enforce these laws, since apparently they have nothing better to do than take food away from the homeless (Fisher). This is absolutely wrong. A generous man willing to share his extra food with someone who is starving and may be starving for awhile, should not be illegal. If the homeless people are not begging violently for the food they need, then I do not see one problem with sharing food that will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Taking a Look at the Tapeworm Diet Individuals seeking to lose weight are constantly confronted with a variety of diets, supplements, and weight loss products to choose from. The tapeworm diet is a quick and significant way to lose weight. This method involves consuming parasites called tapeworms, which possibly can cause a person to become seriously ill and can even lead to fatal complications. To follow this diet, a person ingests tapeworms that go on to absorb some of the food that he or she eats, causing them to lose a significant amount of weight. Doctors don t approve of this diet to be a safe and effective way to lose weight. In fact, this diet is illegal in the United States of America. Though, you can still purchase tapeworms in other countries or via the Internet. A person can obtain a tapeworm parasite through the ingestion of raw meat from infected animals or by consuming the parasite in tablet form. After a person consumes a tapeworm, traveling through the body, eating as it moves around. The tapeworm usually consumes a significant portion of a person s food to cause a calorie shortage and weight loss. Certain tapeworms can grow up to 15 30 feet in length and live up to 20 years in the host. When the tapeworm dieter decides that they have lost enough weight, they take antibiotics to kill the parasite, eventually leaving the body in a bowel movement. People have been known to take drugs designed to reduce the lifespan of the tapeworm so that it is already dead when it is removed from the body. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Singer states three obligations that would help the Bengal region through the means of a wealthy person, and those individuals living life on a day to day basis. That persons with very low incomes may merit our sympathy is accepted, but sympathy leads to charity, rather than to the involuntary exploitation of the better off (Narveson, 2004). Singer also says that people with a maintainable amount of wealth should give more than the X amount asked for, being that the predicament that some are not able to give or they can give less than the amount asked for. Another, more serious reason for not giving to famine relief funds is that until there is effective population control, relieving famine merely postpone starvation (Singer, 1972). The final and third counter argument is that Singer question exactly how much we should be giving away. In this counter argument, Singer talks of giving until one reaches marginal utility; or in the case where suffering would have greatly increased or decreased in his self, if he gave more than one can afford to give. One should avoid bad things from happening or sacrificing too much to help those in need. Giving until you reach your marginal utility is only required. Singer believes we are obliged to give money away until our sacrifice is of comparable moral importance to the agony of people starving to death (Specter, 1999). This is our duty to do so. Emic orientated investigations succeed because it engages applied anthropologists to live with and live like the people of the culture they are studying. It becomes a personal study under the emic practice. Being personally involved allows one to connect to the culture and why that culture thinks and performs a certain way. Emic orientated research fails because it gets too personal with its subjects. This can cause one to stop looking at its subjects as research to be analyzed but as people, which they are, to just befriend and not critically think about. One may begin sympathizing with those within the culture and not be able to learn about the culture from an outsider s point of view. It would be difficult from an emic view to understand why a family may be dehydrated if they are blaming their religious beliefs when they are in fact dehydrated because it has not rained for a month. Religion in this case would be an unreasonable rationale. You cannot understand a culture from just an etic approach; you need emic research methods as well in order to get accurate information to help you understand that culture. • 34. Scenario Between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie, And Patice Scenario Explained The scenario between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie and Doris is a classic issue of offer and acceptance. These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of being an invitation to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider whether the notice placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation. Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car, from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent to be legally bound. This is a unilateral offer where Arnold outlined the terms and condition to which he is willing to be legally bound, he is inviting the public to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One may however argue the case that Felicity was not an agent for Arnold citing the case Powell V Lee (1908), where Mr. Powell applied for a job, one of the school managers acting without authority told Mr. Powell he had been accepted. The managers decided to hire someone else. The court held that there was no contract and there had been no authorized communication between the managers and Mr. Powell. Also Charlie complied with Arnold s notice for sale, by visiting Arnold s house and leaving his acceptance he used a method that was quicker and more efficient that the one that was stipulated on the windscreen of the ... • 35. Moon Conspiracy Research Paper There are many moon conspiracy theories that have been told to people all over the world. Many people have tried to prove them right and prove them wrong. in, https://pseudoastro.wordpress.com, spacecentre.co.uk, and in http://www.discovery.com, by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, Scott Davis, and Stuart Robbins, the authors give evidence to why the fake Moon landing theory is not real. The conspiracy theory that a man did not land on the moon is well known because of no stars in the moon photos. The first piece of evidence that we did land on the moon is when the author states, The reason they are not visible in photos has a lot more to do with photography than with astronomy. Stars are very dim and the light reflected by the Earth and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first fact to go against the moon landing theory is when Stuart Robbins states, If you have managed to get this far and still believe this claim, then let s actually get to what s really going on. Have you ever scanned or photocopied something? If so, you know that any little piece of dirt, hair, dust, or whatever that gets between your original and your imaging device will show up in the copy. That is what happened in the case of the infamous C rock a hair (such as an eyelash) or a small piece of lint got caught between the image and the imager when they were making copies of it. Plain and simple. In the original photograph (close up shown below), there is no C. This confirms that it was just some hair or fine particle that came between the camera and the rock. The second piece of evidence that rebuttals against the moon landing conspiracy theory is when Scott Davis states, But in fact, the label simply isn t there. The image of the rock is taken from a much larger shot of the Moon s surface, and if you look at the original image (shown below left), the marking isn t there. Either a small hair or piece of thread must have got caught in the machine while it was being copied (image below right). This confirms that there was only something in between the camera and the ... • 36. My Philosophy Of Teaching Language My philosophy of teaching language is that in order for a child to achieve language they have to have the desire to learn it. In my short time, I have overseen teachers implement a student centered learning environment. Learning in my future classroom will always occur within cooperative and collaborative group work. Having observed this strategy, this strategy is completely effective and positive to reaffirm and develop strong student to student and instructor to students relationships. This only reassures and establishes an honest and sincere communication in classrooms. I would also do my best to create a positive and enjoyable environment for my future students, which motivates them to participate actively in the activities. In today s classrooms, I find, they are becoming extremely diverse in socioeconomic, academic, disability and ethnic backgrounds. To be able to provide a connection and identity with the English language only becomes a more challenging task to achieve due to the diversity of the group of students. Apply knowledge of language to understand how language functions in different contexts, to make effective choices for meaning or style, and to comprehend more fully when reading or listening (Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards). However, as my duty and responsibility as an instructor, I am obligated to design activities that address the diverse abilities and needs of each and every student. One of my primary goals of teaching is to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
