Solutions to the Abortion Problem in America Essay
Solutions to the Abortion Problem in America
Abortion in America is a huge issue that is causing much turmoil between the communities in
America. Some people feel this way and some people feel another. I am personally for pro choice,
which means I am against abortion unless it is to save a mothers life due to medical problems.
Through research I found that there are many things available that are being done to try and cut the
rate of abortion in America and yet I feel that there is still so much more that can be done. Just to
name a few things that are being done: pray, sidewalk counseling (slightly goes along with prayer) this
is where they try to convince the mother not to have an abortion one last time right before they go ...

They are going out to schools in the west with a program called Back to School telling students the
truth about abortion using graphic real images on abortion. The point of this program is to let the
students know that abortion is a horrible thing to do and help them understand that a child is being
killed in this process. The reason that Operation Rescue is targeting students of this age is because
statistics from the Center for Disease Control show that 60% of all abortions are done on women ages
15 to 24. Operation Rescue is using this opportunity to educate the students especially the young
women before they get pregnant and before they make an appointment for an abortion. There is one
problem with this program and that is, people that have volunteered their time to educate the students
can not actually go into the classrooms and talk to the students. They must stay on the sidewalk
outside of the schools so that they are protected by the first amendment. In that lies the problem,
students of that age do not want to listen to anyone else tell them what they should or should not do so
they most, often will choose to ignore what the person has to say.
I strongly support the Sidewalk Counseling solution. Operation Rescue is another supporter of
Sidewalk Counseling as well as other pro life activist. This is where volunteers that are educated stand
out side of the abortion clinics and hospitals. They feel it is the last chance they have to convince the

Sustainable Development, International Law, and Trade
Sustainable Development, International Law and the Impact of Trade
At a time when trade continues to expand into the global economy, issues such as climate change,
environmental protection and sustainable development are becoming increasingly important
considerations in the process. However, the question is whether these issues are being adequately
addressed by current International trade regulations, trade agreements and International law.
According to the Australia Government, sustainable development represents one of the greatest
challenges facing Australia s governments, industry, business and community in the coming years .1
What is Sustainable Development?
The most widely accepted definition of sustainable development is from the Brundtland report,
namely, Sustainable Development is development that meets the needs of the present, without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 2 This statement contains two
main aspects, first that the present generation s needs are met (intra generational equity) but more
importantly, that it is not made more difficult for future generation to meet their needs (inter
generational equity). Since the report was published, sustainable development has become an integral
part of environmental policy and has been the subject of numerous conferences and summits including
and the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992,3 the World
Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD,

The History and Breakdown of the Glass Ceiling Essay
The History and Breakdown of the Glass Ceiling
The term the glass ceiling first came into use in 1986 when two Wall Street Journal reporters coined
the phrase to describe the invisible barrier that blocks women from the top jobs in corporate America.
(Glass Ceiling Commission, Successful Initiatives ). Since then the metaphor has also been applied to
the barriers of minorities. The Glass Ceiling Effect has been around for approximately 50 years. In my
opinion it is on its way out the door. Corporate Officers and Senior Management are noticing the
merits of women and minorities and doing something about it.
The glass ceiling, in its simplest form, is the theory that women and minorities do not advance into

The 1964 Act prohibits employers, unions, and employment agencies from discriminating against job
applicants and employees on the basis of race, sex, age, handicap, religion, or national origin. The law
prohibits discrimination in hiring, firing, discipline, compensation, and other conditions of
employment. (Reader s Digest, Know Your Rights ,1997). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the
backbone of efforts to eliminate employment discrimination. (Glass Ceiling Commission.
Enforcement Techniques , 1993). The Act allows victims of discrimination in the workplace to
privately litigate claims. The Act started the advancement of women and minorities in the workplace.
Until this point women were in the workforce steadily, but not advancing. Minorities were also
present, but almost never in positions of visibility. Women and minorities in senior management were
almost unheard of. Employers are now forced to review and revise policy and procedures for hiring
and promoting within their respective companies. They are now accountable to the government and
liable to the employee in the event of discriminatory behavior.
At this time and since then, several agencies have been organized to enforce the Act and prohibit
discrimination. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission came into effect to enforce
antidiscrimination laws. The EEOC investigates allegations of bias, negotiates agreements after
charges are filed, and occasionally goes to

English Essay Mister Pip
Analyse how contrast between characters helped the author communicate an important message or
idea.
Mister Pip written by Lloyd Jones is a novel recounted by the protagonist Matilda. Set in 1990 s
Bougainville, we see Matilda begin to question her Mother s traditional idea s about life as a civil war
rages between the rebels and the Redskins in her homeland. Mr. Watts or Pop eye is given the role
teaching the village children, being the only educated, and consequentially, white man left on the
island. He begins reading Great Expectations to the children and Matilda finds herself becoming
entranced in white civilisation. She gets immersed in the story of the white boy Pip living in London
in the 1800 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She continues to try and save her daughter, the power of unconditional love overcoming their even
more obviously marked differences.
Dolores then tries to impose her faith on Matilda in hope she will begin to value God over Great
Expectations to lead her away from the white world. Dolores comes unannounced to Matilda s class
and tries to educate the children on the only thing she knows well: the importance of faith she didn t
know anything outside what she knew from the bible but as Mr. Watts gets further through the novel
Pip becomes yet even more important to Matilda. Dolores never stops in trying to steer Matilda away
from the white world. The world she knows barely anything about, the world she thinks is evil.
Despite their ever increasing differences Dolores will always continue to protect Matilda from what
she believes is bad.
We see the power of unconditional love shown again through Matilda and Dolores s contrast when
Matilda discovers Great Expectations to have been stolen by her Mother. When Dolores hides Great
Expectations much strife is caused. The Red Skins visit Matilda s island, threatening to burn all of
their possessions unless they give up Pip who is only a character from a book and cannot be given up.
Because the book is not where it is supposed to be Pip cannot be explained. The redskins burn the
whole villages possessions because Dolores fails to come forward and admit to what she had done in
order to retrieve

Essay On The Community In The Giver
When first beginning to read the novel the reader may think this might be a story that the community
seemed to be common place to stay, but in actuality it was a significant novel explaining the real
concept of how you are not always informed with the truth by your community, state or even your
government. The secret information that is kept from the citizens in this community is only in the
hands of the Giver and the new Receiver, that is permitted to lie to anyone to keep the truth away from
them. The citizens in the community do not truly know what happens during a release, except for the

The King Of The Israelites
he conquest of the Israelites spread like a lightning bolt. All the countries that lived within the
boundaries of the Promised Land were in utter fear for their lives. Kings who had strong fortified
cities within massive stone walls trembled as the stories flooded in telling them how easily Israel
fought and defeated everyone in their path.
Kings everywhere came together in a united effort to stop God s people from entering into their
country. Instead their defiance of God s will was met with utter devastation. No one could stand up to
the power behind the Israelite army.
Israel held tightly to the Laws of Moses doing everything commanded. Because of each man s
faithfulness a supernatural ability took over each fighting soldier giving them the ability to stand and
defeat a thousand men.
Leviticus 26:7 8, You will be victorious over your enemies; five of you will be able to defeat a
hundred, and a hundred will be able to defeat ten thousand.
Every promise in the Law was fulfilled because the Israelites made a conscious effort to remember the
Laws and apply them to their lives. Their faithfulness to God s words empowered the Spiritual forces
of the unseen heavenly kingdom and the Spirits of God ran to protect every soldier from harm while
enabling them to defeat every person who tried to come up against them.

This paper will compare burglary crime statistics between two cities for the years 2005 and 2012
using the Federal Bureau of Investigation database the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.
This paper will also, discuss which area had more reported incidents, what were the rates of the crime
for each area, did the rates changed over time in either area, and what factors might explain the
differences in the rates.

In 2005, the city of Reno, Nevada had almost three times the population as Sparks, Nevada. However,
the UCR data shows that Sparks, Nevada had just fewer than half the burglaries that Reno, Nevada

the UCR, there were 1,633 burglaries reported to law enforcement agencies (Federal Bureau of
Investigation, 2012). According to the UCR, in 2012, Sparks, Nevada, had a population of 92,387
people. According to the UCR, there were 609 burglaries reported to law enforcement agencies
(Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2012). Once again, in 2012, the city of Reno, Nevada had almost
three times the population as Sparks, Nevada. However, the UCR data shows that Sparks, Nevada still
had just fewer than half the burglaries that Reno, Nevada had.
According to the UCR, from 2005 to 2012 Reno, Nevada had an increase in population of 25,737
people, yet between those dates Reno, Nevada showed a decrease of 283 burglaries. As for Sparks,
Nevada, the UCR data showed an increase of the population of 8,596 people and just like Reno,
Nevada, Sparks, Nevada, showed a decrease of 131 burglaries. Although both cities had an increase in
population, both had a decrease in burglaries reported to law enforcement agencies. Most would

A Brief Note On Poland s Solidarity Movement
Poland s Solidarity Movement in 1989 The Cold War was a state of political hostility characterized by
threats, propaganda and other measures short of open warfare, as defined by Google Dictionary. These
1989 Cold War Revolutions largely impacted the world and for many regions, opened up an
opportunity to express a new perspective towards the challenges that were taking place throughout
these countries. Poland, the Philippines, Chile, South Africa, Ukraine and China were all apart of these
non violent overthrows of various dictatorships. Each region endured various types of discrimination
and exploitation throughout the Cold Wars end. Whether it was economic exploitation, political
discrimination, or the violation of human and civil rights, non violent revolutions rose throughout
Eastern Europe. The book, 1989 Democratic Revolutions at the Cold War s End, written by Padriac
Kenney, analyzes these overthrows and discusses the outcomes for each region. For Poland, more
specifically, these non violent strikes began when they first came under the control of the Soviet
Union in 1948. However, their resistance began in 1944, when the Soviet Union had just began
liberating Polish territory. Starting off with an armed resistance from 1944 to 1947 and ending with
the Solidarity movement in 1989, Poland finally had control of the government from the Communists.
With a brutal start, Polish oppositionists realized there was a better, non violent way to go. The rise of

The family law act 1975 introduced major change to divorce law on 14 grounds of infidelity, cruelty
and desertion. In 1975 saw a major reform in family law, as the family law act introduced no fault
divorce meaning that neither party were to blame for the breakdown of the marriage. One party had to
tell the other and separate for a period of 12 months, then apply for an application with family law

If a couple can reach an agreement on how property is to be divided before going to court they can
apply for a Consent Order. In New South Wales de facto couples can approach the District court to
gain a property settlement Recent changes to law allow for the future needs of the de facto partners to
be taken into account in property settlements. Problems can occur when partner hides property or sells
property to friend at low price before the divorce.
Domestic violence occurs between family members; married or de facto couples and or their children.
There have been cases where women have been subject to domestic violence and have killed their
spouse, (R.v Heather Osland 1996). Battered woman s syndrome is a complex of psychological
adaptations that lead women to kill, which can now be used as self defence and provocation.
The courts are becoming more willing to accept evidence of BWS as a partial defence for murder,
evidence of growing recognition by the law of the effects of domestic violence. Amendment to the
Crimes act 1990 meant that children and adults would be protected from abuse. Legislative response
to domestic violence was the creation of the Periodic Detention of Prisoners (domestic violence)
Amendment act 1982 (weekend detentions for offenders).

How Do the Different Mass of BBs Affect the Muzzle Velocity and the Kinetic Energy in a Ballistic
Pendulum?
By: Conor O Neill
Introduction: As a kid I was always interested in guns and the military. I would spend my Saturdays
watching the military channel and playing with my nerf guns with my older brother, pretending to be a
U.S. Marine. As I started to get older, nerf guns got boring; So I begged my parents to buy me a airsoft
gun. Then, after another couple years the airsoft gun got boring. When this project started being
discussed, I jumped at the opportunity to use my old airsoft rifle for the good of physics, while having
fun at the same time. I decided the best way to use my gun would be to measure the ... Show more

After each trial I would wait for the pendulum to come to a complete stop until I fired another BB.
When it was time to switch the BBs from .20g to .25g, I did not touch the gun but I only took out the
ammunition clip. I did this because if I were to move the gun, the gun would likely line up a different
way causing there to possibly be different results. By just taking out the clip, the gun did not move,
which means the BB hit just about the same spot on the pendulum every time. Data and Calculations
BBs Trail 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4
.20g 9cm 10cm 11cm 9cm .25 g 5cm 6cm 6cm 7cm Mean of .20g BBs: 9.75cm
Mean of .25g BBs: 6cm
Because the Energy of the BB is conserved in the system after the collision, I wanted to show that. So
I used the formula .5*(mass of the BB + pendulum)*(velocity of the BB + pendulum) ² to find the
Kinetic Energy. After that I calculated the Potential Energy using (mass of the BB +
pendulum)*gravity*height by which the pendulum swung. To calculate the Velocity of the BB
combined with the pendulum I derived the equation: velocity = √2*gravity*height swung by which
the pendulum swung. I will use the average height swung by the pendulum for both mass BBs.

Protons And Neutrons
Atoms are made up of electrons, protons and neutrons. Protons have positive charge; electrons have
negative charge and neutrons are neutral. The magnitude of charges of protons and neutrons is the
same. Protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus, while the electrons moves around it. Mass
number is addition of the protons and neutrons. Atomic number is the number of protons. [1] The
mass of an atom is less than the number we obtain by adding up the masses of all the protons and
neutrons. This is the binding energy. The nucleus of an atom determines if it is stable or unstable. The
higher the binding energy, the more stable an atom is. Unstable nuclei are radioactive, where they
decay until they form stable nuclei. They emit different particles to form more stable daughter nuclei.

Alpha particles are composed of 2 protons and also 2 neutrons. It has a plus 2 charge. They are the
nucleus of a helium atom. When an unstable nuclei releases an alpha particle, the mass number
decreases by 4, and the atomic number decreases by 2. This means that a new element forms due to
this emission. Alpha particles are released by relatively large nuclei. [3] It can travel across the air,
however does not travel well in solid. Alpha particles are able to ionize the solid that it is passing
through. [4] Beta particles occurs when an unstable nuclei emits an electron, which has a negative
charge. To conserve the charges in the atom, one of the neutrons in the nucleus spontaneously changes
into a proton. The mass number stays the same, however, the atomic number increases by 1. [3] This
also means that a new element forms. It can travel through air and compared to alpha particles, they
can penetrate through solid matter more, however its ionization ability is less than the alpha particles.
[4] The other type of emission is gamma rays. Gamma rays are photons; they are a

Binary Oppisition Essay
Binary Opposition
In Greek tragedy there are many themes that are contrasted with each other. This is known as binary
opposition, which s defined as a contrast of themes that are the opposite poles of each other. There are
many conflicts in Euripides Medea and Bacchae: perhaps the three most conspicuous oppositions are
rational versus irrational, foreigner versus natives, and stereotypical dichotomy of female and male.
The first binary opposite in Euripides plays are rational versus irrational thinking, his characters are
changing constantly within the plays; there are a couple of characters that stays in a rational thinking
which they do not favor any side of the conflict. In Medea, Euripides showed rational thinking

As they were on their way to worship Dionysus they see Pentheus and stopped to talk with him (212).
Pentheus started to speak about how he was out of the city and heard rumors of the women leaving
their homes and rather engage in cult gathering and each lady is slinks off in a different direction (216
225). He speaks about how [Semele] lied about her union with Zeus and that he is not a god (244). But
Tiresias replies back to Pentheus that [w]henever a wise man sets out to argue an honest case it s no
great undertaking to argue well (266 67). Tiresias also states that Pentheus rejoice whenever crowds
gather at the palace gates and the city glorifies [your] name... Dionysus too, ... takes delight in
receiving [the same] honor (319 21). In the mean time Cadmus also explains that [e]ven if the god
does not exist, as you claim, let him be considered a god in your eyes. Lies for good cause... In this
way [Semele] might seem to have given birth to a god and honor might accrue to our entire family
(332 36). Equally important, that Pentheus and Dionysus constantly change from rational to irrational
thinking throughout the play. Pentheus thinks irrationally about what the women behavior is while
they are in the mountains (354). He believes that the women are in acts of lust with Aphrodite s
pleasure (225). As for Dionysus irrational thinking is when he punishes his family for their hybris acts
towards him (1347). Although there is a rational and irrational

The Siege of Port Arthur
Once the city of Port Arthur was under siege at the hands of Togo s navy, and the First army was able
to successfully land in Chemulpo, the Japanese set out to launch the second half of its joint campaign.
The objective was to stage a limited war in an effort to further contain the Russian troops in the region
and exhaust any possibility they had of rebuilding their resources to counter Japanese attack. Japan
was smart, they knew they could not sustain fighting and continue to pull out victories if Russia was
able to replenish and rebuild. If the Russians were afforded the time they needed, the war may have
taken a different turn for the Japanese.
The first successful land attack began with the battle at Yalu river. The river was not far from Port
Arthur, and its significance was also that it represented the border between Korea and China. The goal
of the Russians was in contrast, as General Kuropatkin, Far East Army Russian Commander, was
interested only in holding the line long enough to receive reinforcements by way of the Trans Siberian
railway. In other words, the Russian army was on the defensive. He knew the process of replenishment
would be a lengthy one, and the Japanese, under the leadership of General Kuroki, did as well. Japan
was aware that victory would need to be swift to maintain their strategy of driving the offensive and
keeping the Russians on their heels (Warner, pp. 252 268). Kuropatkin had long been vocal about the
dangers of expansion and

An Organization Map Technology For Big Data
The internet has changed the ways in which data can be collected and more importantly, it has
changed the amount of data available (Grover, 2014). Social behaviors, networking behaviors and
information sharing are providing organizations with volumes of data and there is a need to be able to
understand, manage and define all of the information. This trend of voluminous data is known as, big
data. According to the International Journal of Computer and Electronics Research, in 2014, there is
no extensive reference architecture currently available for big data (Grover, 2014). Several small scale
data architectures exist, but most are limited in scope or missing the functional views which help an

Therefore, information asymmetry is an issue for consumers and supply chains when interoperable
data does not align. This exists because one party (either the buyer or producer) has less than perfect
information than the other.
According to an article by Information and Technology Management, a great deal of information
asymmetry exists in the coffee supply chain. This article describes the data incompatibility between
small and medium coffee farmers, roasters, and traders. Producers (coffee farmers) are usually a
cooperative of many small farmers and being able to gather documentation to identify the source and
quality of the coffee is difficult (Sayogo, Zhang, Luna Reyes, Jarman, Tayi, Lines Andersen, Pardo,
Andersen, 2015).
Many farmers believe the data collection is not valuable and waste of their time and effort for many
reasons. Including limited resources such as staff and technology, and information bias (competition
based on too much information about the supply). Furthermore, the entire process is overly too
difficult to perform in a uniformed way. Most important, this results in the farmers incurring
additional costs to ensure data collection that they may not see a profit for later (Sayogo, Zhang, Luna
Reyes, Jarman, Tayi, Lines Andersen, Pardo, Andersen, 2015).
Therefore, incorrect or assumed information is collected to the best of the producer s knowledge

10 ways to wear the denim jacket
Rescued from our high school years, the denim jacket is unbreakable. Year after year, she follows us
without ever tacking . The older it is, the more we love it. Whatever its style, its morphology , its age
and its tastes, it adapts to almost everything . But to avoid the return to college effect, follow our
advice to find the right model and how to wear it.
Version rock : exit denims too washed out, raw materials raw, frankly indigo blues, even black
denims. The best ? A model close to the body, worn the collar slightly raised and associated with a
black slim or a mini skirt in leather and a pair of studded boots that makes noise or a pair of santiags.
And under the jacket? A tee shirt with the image of his favorite rock band!

Romantic version : nothing like a ruffle pattern to give a wild blue flower look to any denim jacket .
Slipped on a Furstenberg Diane wrap dress and derbys or sandals pavement, it s a total look as easy to
take to the office as in the evening.
Junior version : the latest fashion blogger / instragrameuses and influential? Choose a loose fitting
jacket and wear it tied at the waist. Needless to say, this look is reserved for very, very young (do not
pout if you see your teenager leave to the lycée so dressed) ... or very, very fashionable.
Chic version : a denim jacket on a red carpet? Yes it s possible. It is perfect for relaxing a ceremony
outfit if you choose a basic model (not too short, too loose or too washed out). Try the lurex and
denim wedding, and you ll see how easy it is to take on everyday shiny outfits!
Summer version : go on bleached and faded canvases or pastel colors. Well also: white denim. We

Hitler. Hitler s hatred of communists completely opposes Ho Chi Minh s ideas. However, both Minh
and Hitler wanted liberation and independence for their countries to be able to function independently.
They both spent their lives attempting to gain their wishes of attaining the government they viewed as
best for the countries. Minh s goal was to get Vietnamese independence from the French and to blend
Communism with Nationalism. When Minh was forced to leave China because the nationalists wanted
to get rid of left wing radicals, he decided to go to Russia, joined the Comintern, but continued
travelling back and forth. He became the leader of the Vietnamese communist party and started a
revolution with the end goal of the independence of Indochina. Like Hitler, he was placed in prison for
his wishes that went against the governmental ideas that he hoped would result in freedom. After his
time in prison, he founded the Viet Minh in order to finally gain independence for Vietnam. The
Japanese gave up Northern Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh established himself as president of the
Democratic state of Vietnam. Hitler also established himself as a leader and decided to take matters
into his own hands. Ho Chi Minh and the Vietcong were then able to defeat the anti communist French
controlled South Vietnam in the battle Dien Bien Phu. Minh fought for the freedom of others, did not
let his power get to his head, and was able to get the people what they wanted, and was not fighting on
behalf of himself, rather for others.
Just like Minh spent his life attempting to make his vision come true, so too did Adolf Hitler. Adolf
Hitler was a powerful and influential leader in Nazi Germany, before and during the time of the
Second World War. He fought for Germany during World War I, and then joined the Nazi s. Hitler
believed in nationalism, and did not like the way that the government of Germany was handling the
situation they were placed in after World War I. Hitler and some of his followers attempted to
overthrow the government but failed miserably. Hitler, like Minh was placed in prison, but did not stay
for his full sentencing, and

Bus Train ( Magnetic Levitation Train )
INTRODUCTION
The world today is entirely dependent on various means of transportation for their day to day and
hence a more rapid and reliable source of transportation is must. People today recognizes aero plane as
the fastest means of transportation which has its own disadvantages and there were no other options
available till the beginning of the 20th century , but with the development in technology there were
other means of transport which came into action and one of which was the MAGLEV TRAIN
(Magnetic levitation train) which are on entirely different level as when compared to our traditional
trains and on the other hand can been compared to aero planes in terms of speed. The recent
development of maglev train has made them a strong contender for the future transportation and there
is a lot of scope for development in this technology. The following term paper deals with working
along with the advantages and disadvantages of maglev train.
The train which are levitated suspended, guided and propelled with the help of magnetic forces are
called maglev train. These train don t have any engine as conventional train and for the purpose of
motion solely depend on the magnetic force. These train don t have any wheels as well as a result of
which there is no wheel rail friction and due to which these train can achieve enormous speed and `the
fastest train till date is Japanese maglev with a astonishing speed of 581 km/hr.
The first commercial maglev line made its debut in

Summary Of Berger s Invitation To Sociology
Berger s Invitation to Sociology: A Humanistic Perspective is a book about sociology as a scientific
methodology and a perspective through which the world can be explored. The author s major thesis is
that sociology is not limited to statistics, to which many people often reduce the importance of this
science, and it is not even limited to being a particular scientific discipline that is part of social
sciences, but it is a worldview in a way. Sociologists approach various situation[s]...in which people
orient their actions toward one another (Berger 1963:27), i.e. social situations, from the perspective of
these interactions and build a system of methods to analyze social processes.
By explaining the humanistic perspective proposed by him, the author convincingly demonstrates that
sociology is more than its methods, such as surveying, or its theories. There are many sociological
theories, but they all are part of the fundamental vision of all processes as the effects of human
interactions. Berger (1963) often refers to his own experience of being a sociologist, and this adds
reliability to his arguments. Also, despite beginning the book in a light and humorous manner, the
author further turns to complicated scientific notions and perspectives; this shows his expertise and
makes the book s major thesis more persuasive.
Apart from referring to reputable theories and sources, other persuasion tools used in the book include
emotional appeal and humor. These tools can build a

Creatine Research Paper
The Effects of Creatine Supplement on the Athletic Health and Performance Many athletes use
resistance training in their everyday workouts while using creatine. However, the athletes are unaware
of the effects it has on their bodies and whether performance is enhanced or not. Therefore, these
athletes need to become educated of what they are putting into their bodies and whether creatine is
aiding them in gains or not. First, background information will be provided on both creatine and
resistance training. Next, there will be discussion on the benefits of resistance training with sex
differences and age differences. Then, studies will be provided to help with gaining a better
understanding on creatine s effects with resistance training. Creatine will then be discussed on how it

The four studies mentioned previously all draw to the same conclusion. The first study showed gains
in muscle strength while performing lower body exercises. The second study showed an increase in
6.85 kg of muscle gains in lifts. The third study was an analysis of 22 different studies. It indicated an
8% increase in muscle strength gains and a 14% increase in weightlifting performance. The last study
showed an increase in strength gains and performance in bench press. Overall, these four studies
showed that there is an increase in both strength gains and performance with the use of creatine and
resistance training. Endurance athletes will not see benefits from creatine use. This is due to the
energy system used for endurance, the Oxidative System. The Oxidative System does not use
phosphocreatine for production of energy. While the ATP PCr System, which is used in resistance
training, does use phosphocreatine to aid in production of energy. Therefore, when resistance training,
athletes can and should use

Theme Of Woman At Point Zero
The theme of oppression is evident in Woman at Point Zero. Firdaus the narrator of the story narrates
what she has gone through in her life until she is about to be convicted. Through her narration, the
reader is able to know the forms of oppression that Firdaus has gone through.
Firdaus experiences oppression from childhood to adulthood and whenever she tries to run from one
form of oppression, she finds herself in another. From childhood, Firdaus is oppressed by her
biological father and her uncle, in adulthood men of different calibers sexually oppress her. It is from
this painful act that when the researcher meets Firdaus, she openly tells her the hatred she has towards
men, arising from the male oppression throughout her life. She is even happy to face the executer
because the world is full of oppression. She narrates:

Firdaus father is an illiterate, ignorant and lazy father who does not understand what is happening
around him. He still holds to the old traditional practices of looking down upon women. It is from this
point of view that all the women that are around him face oppression. For example, Firdaus father
constantly batters his wife. Women characters in Woman at Point Zero are oppressed by males in the
text. The homodiegetic narrator being one of the Characters, retells the ordeal that they go through in
the hands of men. The homodiegetic narrator gives out a detailed account of what happened to her
right from her childhood up to adulthood. She endures and experiences the brutality in the hands of
different men in the society hence exposing the theme of oppression. Firdaus confession further
reveals the brutality of her biological father. She confesses what happens in her father s house. She

Nuclear Family Systems Theory
Leroy understands that his treatment would hinder him from working the long hours that he is used to.
Leroy is also considering the doctor appointments, which will cost money and time. According to the
family systems theory, Leroy would not see this as being in the best interest for his family. Dr. Bowen
would also suggest that Leroy has a role that he has to fulfil (Priest, 2015). The role that Leroy has in
the family is that of a provider. Leroy believes that his diagnosis of prostate cancer, will in some way
impact his role as a provider. The level of incapacitation is also another aspect of the diagnosis to be
taken into consideration. If Leroy s diagnosis of prostate cancer does not inhibit him from fulfilling his
role as a provider, he may be more accepting of the illness. The nuclear family system may experience
a change in relationship patterns, depending on the level of incapacitation (Priest, 2015). Tiffany
would have to embrace a new role in the family, if Leroy now has to be dependent on her. This would
be difficult for not only Leroy, but for Tiffany as well. This major life incident has caused both of
them to possibly reverse roles in the family (Priest, 2015). This may also cause marital conflict, which
is a theme in the family systems theory. The idea of marital conflict can be thought of as tension ...

asserts that this is behavior, that is learned from the community, and environment. The faith that Leroy

Parsons: The New School. Through the visit, I discovered a new environment full of talented people

gender, or sexuality. Attending Parsons: The New School will have a powerful impact on my success
in and out of college. Being an African Muslim male growing up in the U.S there are restrictions and
standards I must uphold to be considered a man. However, not living up to these standards causes men

Ethnic And Ethnic Conflict In The Rwanda s Genocide
Rwanda is a small landlocked East African country with a rich cultural background and tightly knit
community it was a small country primarily surviving as an agricultural economy, with one of the
highest population densities in Africa. Rwanda had previously gained independence from Belgium on
July first, 1962, but as tensions rose between the majority population the Hutu, and the minority
population the Tutsi, violence broke out leading to the beginning of a full fledged genocide that began
on April 6, 1994, and would take between 500,000 to 1 million lives of the Rwandan people.
The sociological perspective that lead to the beginning of this genocide is extremely unique, as most
ethnic conflict and violence in history has occurred due to a conflict within two ethnic groups beliefs
and cultures, yet in the case of the Tutsi and Hutu, they had very similar racial and cultural traits. It
was rather a division of socio economic status between the pastoralists being the Tutsi, and the
agriculturists representing the Hutu. Even more, this difference between the Tutsi and Hutu is a open
class system, as a Hutu could become a Tutsi if they acquired cattle and vice versa. This class mobility
and lack of ethnic and cultural conflict makes this situation so unique given its sociological
perspective. Ethnic identity became so powerful in the Rwandan culture because Under Belgian rule,
the difference in status between the Hutu and Tutsi became socially fixed, the entire

Stress is like a nagging sister. Disclaimer: not saying I have one of these or anything.
She pulls our hair, pokes us when we re concentrating, and to reflect a bit, embarrassed us when we
brought a new date home in high school.
The effects stress has on you both mentally and physically is killing you.
A day in the not so distant past, I was a part of the re stocking initiative (sound fancy?) to replace the
wheels and brakes for an A320. This project was a little shy of $100,000 and had several risky
obstacles to stay on budget.
One of these obstacles was dealing with a new third party to handle repairs. If you know me, any new
third party makes me sweat. With no history, we had no true knowledge of how they did things. It was
a gamble.
2 weeks pass with several updates along the way. On the 14th day of the second week we called to
check up on things, you know, the nosy in your face check up. They claimed that our account manager
was fired and they never received our purchase order.
I about blew a gasket.
They went on to tell our

Thinking Piece #5
Chaucer s Canterbury Tales: The General Prologue portrays the newly formed social division in
Medieval England by having people from the noble, gentry, church, and working social groups come
together on a journey to the Canterbury Chapel. A modern day American version of this poem would
also include a diverse group of people. The nobility in The Canterbury Tales is represented by the
knight, which Chaucer describes as loving, trouthe and honour, freedom and curteisye (46). Since the
knight is a worthy defender and protector of the people, the modern day equivalent would be our
country s police officers and military. For higher ranking nobility, American ... Show more content on

During the fourteenth century, the control of the church weakened, and the church officials were no
longer seen as nobility. Despite being poor, the parson in The Canterbury Tales displayed a
hardworking and caring demeanor. Chaucer further explains the parson s character by mentioning, that
first he wroughte, and afterward he taught (499). The parson s involvement in society can be mirrored
by not only modern day preachers and church leaders, but by teachers as well. Teachers take the
knowledge from their education and convey this wisdom onto students, much like the parson. The
qualities of today s working class can be seen through Chaucer s depiction of the plowman. Indicating
the importance and humility of the plowman s work, Chaucer establishes his significance in society.
Our farmers, factory workers, and construction workers show the same persistent work ethic as the
plowman, which exemplifies that they are the foundation of the American society. Where class and
social status does not determine acceptability, the Canterbury Chapel is common ground for all the
pilgrims to pray and make what they want out of the experience. A

An Explication of Sharon Olds’ Poem, Feared Drowned Essay
An Explication of Sharon Olds Poem Feared Drowned.
Fear is an amazing emotion, in that it has both psychological as well as physiological effects on the
human body. In instances of extreme fear, the mind is able to function in a way that is detached and
connected to the event simultaneously. In Feared Drowned, Sharon Olds presents, in six brief stanzas,
this type of instance. Her sparse use of language, rich with metaphors, similes and dark imagery,
belies the horror experienced by the speaker. She closes the poem with a philosophical statement
about life and the after effects that these moments of horror can have on our lives and relationships.
The setting of the poem is a day at the ocean with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the poem, Olds use consonance sounds, particularly s w and z sounds, to recreate the
sounds of the surf, and perhaps even the sound of gasping for air. In this respect, even the very sound
of this poem reinforces its central idea of drowning.
In the third stanza, the speaker scans the swimmers emerging from the water, realizing that none of
them is her husband. The lack of emotion in her tone suggests that the speaker is experiencing that
state of simultaneous detachment and connection that often occurs in moments of intense panic. The
sense of foreboding is reinforced in the fourth stanza: Rocks stick out near the shore like heads / Kelp
snakes in like a shed black suit... One wonders if the shed black suit is meant to be a symbol for
typical funereal attire, perhaps the black suit the speaker fears she will bury her husband in. It is not
until the fifth stanza that the speaker s body belies her fear and shock with a natural physiological
response: My stomach begins to contract as if to / vomit salt water.
As her husband emerges from the surf in the last stanza, the tone of the poem switches from one of
darkness and fear, to one that is philosophical: Once you lose someone

William Edward Burghardt, Du Bois And Dorothy E. Smith Essay
In our society, we constantly are divided between a dominant group and an inferior group, whether it
is by class, race, gender, sexuality, and so forth. Many people have been a victim of injustices and
prejudism unless they are a part of what is known as the dominant group. There are a few theoriest
who have used their platform (which they had to work hard for) to discuss important social issues.
Two of the few are William Edward Burghardt (W.E.B) Du bois and Dorothy E. Smith. Although they
faced different challenges and have faced different forms of discrimination, we can see how both of
their theories are very similar (and somewhat different) from one another. Because of them, we are
able to think about the real issues of our society and its effects on an individual.
William Edward Burghardt (W.E.B) Du bois was a sociologist, author, and civil rights leader born
during the late 1860 s. Du bois was the first African American to graduate at his high school and also
was the first African American to receive a PhD from Harvard University. Unfortunately, due to the
fact that racism is embedded in our society, Du Bois did not receive praise, and instead was ignored
for his work while he was alive. However, Du Bois s work today could be seen as the most important
on the subject of race and class (his main concern was with the nature and intersection of race and
class), especially his well known book The Souls of Black Folk (1903) (pg. 257). This book was a

Dark, matted hair spiraled from his head into several gelled angles, almost hiding his closed eyes. His

Social And Political Views Of Democracy
Democracy offers people the chance to be involved citizens rather than unreceptive subordinates.
However, this right doesn t come unchallenged. Citizens are required to assess a broad range of
political subjects (such as candidates, parties, and policies) and then combine and simplify their
likings in a way that allows them to choose on voting decisions. So, how are these challenges met? In
the United States, some citizens are conservative Republics, some are liberal Democrats, and others
fall in between or outside the two. Recent studies have proposed that these recognitions play an
important part in voting behavior and political perception. Recently, however, more studies have
accumulated advocating for two meager assumptions in regards to this study: that liberal/conservative
identifications are bipolar in meaning and that underlying this bipolarity is cognitive meaning based
on political issues (Conover, Feldman, 265). These variances in political positions are called political
attitudes, and fall on a spectrum between extremely liberal and extremely conservative. Broadly
speaking, this spectrum distinguishes what someone believes about social issues and governments role
in society. These beliefs are formed by a variation of aspects, which can include family, gender,
religion, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and region. Even things like behavior, core ideals and
values, and ideology can affect people s political attitudes.
However, these opinions are not set in

From an moral standpoint the IGRA was created to keep in check the ethics of gambling in casinos but
we find that the IGRA does not create the greatest amount of utility for tribes, but restricts their rights
and gives an unfair advantage to state government. The IGRA is unethical in regards to tribes
operating casinos on reservations. Since the settlement of America, Native Americans have received
the short end of the stick. Settlers continuously encroached upon Native American land, completely
disregarding the fact the Indians were there first. After years of displacing the Indians and fighting
with them, the government allotted reservations for the Indians to call their own. Now that tribes have
been finally given a chance at economic development, many reservations have taken advantage of
casinos to provide a better life for tribal members. Moral issues have been brought up, from
government to non Native Americans. Even tribal members argue the moral issues. People who are
fighting this are fighting it for a variety of reasons. It s just how it would change the whole
community, the flavor. Having a 24 7 bright lights, honky tonk feel, it s just not what people want.
Says Susie Dewberry, a Suislaw tribal member. (Pittenger) One of the great benefits the casinos have
created is employment for many Native Americans.

  • 2. Solutions to the Abortion Problem in America Essay Solutions to the Abortion Problem in America Abortion in America is a huge issue that is causing much turmoil between the communities in America. Some people feel this way and some people feel another. I am personally for pro choice, which means I am against abortion unless it is to save a mothers life due to medical problems. Through research I found that there are many things available that are being done to try and cut the rate of abortion in America and yet I feel that there is still so much more that can be done. Just to name a few things that are being done: pray, sidewalk counseling (slightly goes along with prayer) this is where they try to convince the mother not to have an abortion one last time right before they go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are going out to schools in the west with a program called Back to School telling students the truth about abortion using graphic real images on abortion. The point of this program is to let the students know that abortion is a horrible thing to do and help them understand that a child is being killed in this process. The reason that Operation Rescue is targeting students of this age is because statistics from the Center for Disease Control show that 60% of all abortions are done on women ages 15 to 24. Operation Rescue is using this opportunity to educate the students especially the young women before they get pregnant and before they make an appointment for an abortion. There is one problem with this program and that is, people that have volunteered their time to educate the students can not actually go into the classrooms and talk to the students. They must stay on the sidewalk outside of the schools so that they are protected by the first amendment. In that lies the problem, students of that age do not want to listen to anyone else tell them what they should or should not do so they most, often will choose to ignore what the person has to say. I strongly support the Sidewalk Counseling solution. Operation Rescue is another supporter of Sidewalk Counseling as well as other pro life activist. This is where volunteers that are educated stand out side of the abortion clinics and hospitals. They feel it is the last chance they have to convince the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sustainable Development, International Law, and Trade Sustainable Development, International Law and the Impact of Trade At a time when trade continues to expand into the global economy, issues such as climate change, environmental protection and sustainable development are becoming increasingly important considerations in the process. However, the question is whether these issues are being adequately addressed by current International trade regulations, trade agreements and International law. According to the Australia Government, sustainable development represents one of the greatest challenges facing Australia s governments, industry, business and community in the coming years .1 What is Sustainable Development? The most widely accepted definition of sustainable development is from the Brundtland report, namely, Sustainable Development is development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. 2 This statement contains two main aspects, first that the present generation s needs are met (intra generational equity) but more importantly, that it is not made more difficult for future generation to meet their needs (inter generational equity). Since the report was published, sustainable development has become an integral part of environmental policy and has been the subject of numerous conferences and summits including and the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992,3 the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD, ... • 4. The History and Breakdown of the Glass Ceiling Essay The History and Breakdown of the Glass Ceiling The term the glass ceiling first came into use in 1986 when two Wall Street Journal reporters coined the phrase to describe the invisible barrier that blocks women from the top jobs in corporate America. (Glass Ceiling Commission, Successful Initiatives ). Since then the metaphor has also been applied to the barriers of minorities. The Glass Ceiling Effect has been around for approximately 50 years. In my opinion it is on its way out the door. Corporate Officers and Senior Management are noticing the merits of women and minorities and doing something about it. The glass ceiling, in its simplest form, is the theory that women and minorities do not advance into senior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1964 Act prohibits employers, unions, and employment agencies from discriminating against job applicants and employees on the basis of race, sex, age, handicap, religion, or national origin. The law prohibits discrimination in hiring, firing, discipline, compensation, and other conditions of employment. (Reader s Digest, Know Your Rights ,1997). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the backbone of efforts to eliminate employment discrimination. (Glass Ceiling Commission. Enforcement Techniques , 1993). The Act allows victims of discrimination in the workplace to privately litigate claims. The Act started the advancement of women and minorities in the workplace. Until this point women were in the workforce steadily, but not advancing. Minorities were also present, but almost never in positions of visibility. Women and minorities in senior management were almost unheard of. Employers are now forced to review and revise policy and procedures for hiring and promoting within their respective companies. They are now accountable to the government and liable to the employee in the event of discriminatory behavior. At this time and since then, several agencies have been organized to enforce the Act and prohibit discrimination. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission came into effect to enforce antidiscrimination laws. The EEOC investigates allegations of bias, negotiates agreements after charges are filed, and occasionally goes to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mister Pip written by Lloyd Jones is a novel recounted by the protagonist Matilda. Set in 1990 s Bougainville, we see Matilda begin to question her Mother s traditional idea s about life as a civil war rages between the rebels and the Redskins in her homeland. Mr. Watts or Pop eye is given the role teaching the village children, being the only educated, and consequentially, white man left on the island. He begins reading Great Expectations to the children and Matilda finds herself becoming entranced in white civilisation. She continues to try and save her daughter, the power of unconditional love overcoming their even more obviously marked differences. Dolores then tries to impose her faith on Matilda in hope she will begin to value God over Great Expectations to lead her away from the white world. Dolores comes unannounced to Matilda s class and tries to educate the children on the only thing she knows well: the importance of faith she didn t know anything outside what she knew from the bible but as Mr. Watts gets further through the novel Pip becomes yet even more important to Matilda. Dolores never stops in trying to steer Matilda away from the white world. The world she knows barely anything about, the world she thinks is evil. Despite their ever increasing differences Dolores will always continue to protect Matilda from what she believes is bad. We see the power of unconditional love shown again through Matilda and Dolores s contrast when Matilda discovers Great Expectations to have been stolen by her Mother. When Dolores hides Great Expectations much strife is caused. The Red Skins visit Matilda s island, threatening to burn all of their possessions unless they give up Pip who is only a character from a book and cannot be given up. Because the book is not where it is supposed to be Pip cannot be explained. • 8. The King Of The Israelites he conquest of the Israelites spread like a lightning bolt. All the countries that lived within the boundaries of the Promised Land were in utter fear for their lives. Kings who had strong fortified cities within massive stone walls trembled as the stories flooded in telling them how easily Israel fought and defeated everyone in their path. Kings everywhere came together in a united effort to stop God s people from entering into their country. Instead their defiance of God s will was met with utter devastation. No one could stand up to the power behind the Israelite army. Israel held tightly to the Laws of Moses doing everything commanded. Because of each man s faithfulness a supernatural ability took over each fighting soldier giving them the ability to stand and defeat a thousand men. Leviticus 26:7 8, You will be victorious over your enemies; five of you will be able to defeat a hundred, and a hundred will be able to defeat ten thousand. Every promise in the Law was fulfilled because the Israelites made a conscious effort to remember the Laws and apply them to their lives. Their faithfulness to God s words empowered the Spiritual forces of the unseen heavenly kingdom and the Spirits of God ran to protect every soldier from harm while enabling them to defeat every person who tried to come up against them. • 10. A Brief Note On Poland s Solidarity Movement Poland s Solidarity Movement in 1989 The Cold War was a state of political hostility characterized by threats, propaganda and other measures short of open warfare, as defined by Google Dictionary. These 1989 Cold War Revolutions largely impacted the world and for many regions, opened up an opportunity to express a new perspective towards the challenges that were taking place throughout these countries. Poland, the Philippines, Chile, South Africa, Ukraine and China were all apart of these non violent overthrows of various dictatorships. Each region endured various types of discrimination and exploitation throughout the Cold Wars end. Whether it was economic exploitation, political discrimination, or the violation of human and civil rights, non violent revolutions rose throughout Eastern Europe. The book, 1989 Democratic Revolutions at the Cold War s End, written by Padriac Kenney, analyzes these overthrows and discusses the outcomes for each region. For Poland, more specifically, these non violent strikes began when they first came under the control of the Soviet Union in 1948. However, their resistance began in 1944, when the Soviet Union had just began liberating Polish territory. Starting off with an armed resistance from 1944 to 1947 and ending with the Solidarity movement in 1989, Poland finally had control of the government from the Communists. With a brutal start, Polish oppositionists realized there was a better, non violent way to go. The rise of the Solidarity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There have been cases where women have been subject to domestic violence and have killed their spouse, (R.v Heather Osland 1996). Battered woman s syndrome is a complex of psychological adaptations that lead women to kill, which can now be used as self defence and provocation. The courts are becoming more willing to accept evidence of BWS as a partial defence for murder, evidence of growing recognition by the law of the effects of domestic violence. • 12. Mass Of Lab Essay How Do the Different Mass of BBs Affect the Muzzle Velocity and the Kinetic Energy in a Ballistic Pendulum? By: Conor O Neill Introduction: As a kid I was always interested in guns and the military. I would spend my Saturdays watching the military channel and playing with my nerf guns with my older brother, pretending to be a U.S. Marine. As I started to get older, nerf guns got boring; So I begged my parents to buy me a airsoft gun. Then, after another couple years the airsoft gun got boring. When this project started being discussed, I jumped at the opportunity to use my old airsoft rifle for the good of physics, while having fun at the same time. I decided the best way to use my gun would be to measure the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After each trial I would wait for the pendulum to come to a complete stop until I fired another BB. When it was time to switch the BBs from .20g to .25g, I did not touch the gun but I only took out the ammunition clip. I did this because if I were to move the gun, the gun would likely line up a different way causing there to possibly be different results. By just taking out the clip, the gun did not move, which means the BB hit just about the same spot on the pendulum every time. Data and Calculations BBs Trail 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4 .20g 9cm 10cm 11cm 9cm .25 g 5cm 6cm 6cm 7cm Mean of .20g BBs: 9.75cm Mean of .25g BBs: 6cm Because the Energy of the BB is conserved in the system after the collision, I wanted to show that. So I used the formula .5*(mass of the BB + pendulum)*(velocity of the BB + pendulum) ² to find the Kinetic Energy. After that I calculated the Potential Energy using (mass of the BB + pendulum)*gravity*height by which the pendulum swung. To calculate the Velocity of the BB combined with the pendulum I derived the equation: velocity = √2*gravity*height swung by which the pendulum swung. I will use the average height swung by the pendulum for both mass BBs. .20g v= √(2gh) v=√(2(9.81)() 9.75) v=13.83m/s KE= 1/2 mv² KE= 1/2(.0152)(13.83) ² KE= 1.45 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The magnitude of charges of protons and neutrons is the same. Protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus, while the electrons moves around it. Mass number is addition of the protons and neutrons. Atomic number is the number of protons. [1] The mass of an atom is less than the number we obtain by adding up the masses of all the protons and neutrons. This is the binding energy. The nucleus of an atom determines if it is stable or unstable. The higher the binding energy, the more stable an atom is. Unstable nuclei are radioactive, where they decay until they form stable nuclei. They emit different particles to form more stable daughter nuclei. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. The Siege of Port Arthur Once the city of Port Arthur was under siege at the hands of Togo s navy, and the First army was able to successfully land in Chemulpo, the Japanese set out to launch the second half of its joint campaign. The objective was to stage a limited war in an effort to further contain the Russian troops in the region and exhaust any possibility they had of rebuilding their resources to counter Japanese attack. Japan was smart, they knew they could not sustain fighting and continue to pull out victories if Russia was able to replenish and rebuild. If the Russians were afforded the time they needed, the war may have taken a different turn for the Japanese. The first successful land attack began with the battle at Yalu river. The river was not far from Port Arthur, and its significance was also that it represented the border between Korea and China. The goal of the Russians was in contrast, as General Kuropatkin, Far East Army Russian Commander, was interested only in holding the line long enough to receive reinforcements by way of the Trans Siberian railway. In other words, the Russian army was on the defensive. He knew the process of replenishment would be a lengthy one, and the Japanese, under the leadership of General Kuroki, did as well. Japan was aware that victory would need to be swift to maintain their strategy of driving the offensive and keeping the Russians on their heels (Warner, pp. 252 268). Social behaviors, networking behaviors and information sharing are providing organizations with volumes of data and there is a need to be able to understand, manage and define all of the information. This trend of voluminous data is known as, big data. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, information asymmetry is an issue for consumers and supply chains when interoperable data does not align. This exists because one party (either the buyer or producer) has less than perfect information than the other. According to an article by Information and Technology Management, a great deal of information asymmetry exists in the coffee supply chain. This article describes the data incompatibility between small and medium coffee farmers, roasters, and traders. Producers (coffee farmers) are usually a cooperative of many small farmers and being able to gather documentation to identify the source and quality of the coffee is difficult (Sayogo, Zhang, Luna Reyes, Jarman, Tayi, Lines Andersen, Pardo, Andersen, 2015). Many farmers believe the data collection is not valuable and waste of their time and effort for many reasons. Including limited resources such as staff and technology, and information bias (competition based on too much information about the supply). Furthermore, the entire process is overly too difficult to perform in a uniformed way. Most important, this results in the farmers incurring additional costs to ensure data collection that they may not see a profit for later (Sayogo, Zhang, Luna Reyes, Jarman, Tayi, Lines Andersen, Pardo, Andersen, 2015). Hitler s hatred of communists completely opposes Ho Chi Minh s ideas. However, both Minh and Hitler wanted liberation and independence for their countries to be able to function independently. They both spent their lives attempting to gain their wishes of attaining the government they viewed as best for the countries. Minh s goal was to get Vietnamese independence from the French and to blend Communism with Nationalism. When Minh was forced to leave China because the nationalists wanted to get rid of left wing radicals, he decided to go to Russia, joined the Comintern, but continued travelling back and forth. He became the leader of the Vietnamese communist party and started a revolution with the end goal of the independence of Indochina. Like Hitler, he was placed in prison for his wishes that went against the governmental ideas that he hoped would result in freedom. After his time in prison, he founded the Viet Minh in order to finally gain independence for Vietnam. The Japanese gave up Northern Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh established himself as president of the Democratic state of Vietnam. Summary Of Berger s Invitation To Sociology Berger s Invitation to Sociology: A Humanistic Perspective is a book about sociology as a scientific methodology and a perspective through which the world can be explored. The author s major thesis is that sociology is not limited to statistics, to which many people often reduce the importance of this science, and it is not even limited to being a particular scientific discipline that is part of social sciences, but it is a worldview in a way. Sociologists approach various situation[s]...in which people orient their actions toward one another (Berger 1963:27), i.e. social situations, from the perspective of these interactions and build a system of methods to analyze social processes. By explaining the humanistic perspective proposed by him, the author convincingly demonstrates that sociology is more than its methods, such as surveying, or its theories. There are many sociological theories, but they all are part of the fundamental vision of all processes as the effects of human interactions. Berger (1963) often refers to his own experience of being a sociologist, and this adds reliability to his arguments. Also, despite beginning the book in a light and humorous manner, the author further turns to complicated scientific notions and perspectives; this shows his expertise and makes the book s major thesis more persuasive. Ethnic And Ethnic Conflict In The Rwanda s Genocide Rwanda is a small landlocked East African country with a rich cultural background and tightly knit community it was a small country primarily surviving as an agricultural economy, with one of the highest population densities in Africa. Rwanda had previously gained independence from Belgium on July first, 1962, but as tensions rose between the majority population the Hutu, and the minority population the Tutsi, violence broke out leading to the beginning of a full fledged genocide that began on April 6, 1994, and would take between 500,000 to 1 million lives of the Rwandan people. The sociological perspective that lead to the beginning of this genocide is extremely unique, as most ethnic conflict and violence in history has occurred due to a conflict within two ethnic groups beliefs and cultures, yet in the case of the Tutsi and Hutu, they had very similar racial and cultural traits. It was rather a division of socio economic status between the pastoralists being the Tutsi, and the agriculturists representing the Hutu. Even more, this difference between the Tutsi and Hutu is a open class system, as a Hutu could become a Tutsi if they acquired cattle and vice versa. This class mobility and lack of ethnic and cultural conflict makes this situation so unique given its sociological perspective. Ethnic identity became so powerful in the Rwandan culture because Under Belgian rule, the difference in status between the Hutu and Tutsi became socially fixed, the entire ... Anglin Stress is like a nagging sister. Disclaimer: not saying I have one of these or anything. She pulls our hair, pokes us when we re concentrating, and to reflect a bit, embarrassed us when we brought a new date home in high school. The effects stress has on you both mentally and physically is killing you. A day in the not so distant past, I was a part of the re stocking initiative (sound fancy?) to replace the wheels and brakes for an A320. This project was a little shy of $100,000 and had several risky obstacles to stay on budget. One of these obstacles was dealing with a new third party to handle repairs. If you know me, any new third party makes me sweat. With no history, we had no true knowledge of how they did things. It was a gamble. 2 weeks pass with several updates along the way. On the 14th day of the second week we called to check up on things, you know, the nosy in your face check up. They claimed that our account manager was fired and they never received our purchase order. I about blew a gasket. They went on to tell our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Nobility In The Canterbury Tales Kensi Laube Professor Parrish British Literature I 15 September 2017 Thinking Piece #5 Chaucer s Canterbury Tales: The General Prologue portrays the newly formed social division in Medieval England by having people from the noble, gentry, church, and working social groups come together on a journey to the Canterbury Chapel. A modern day American version of this poem would also include a diverse group of people. The nobility in The Canterbury Tales is represented by the knight, which Chaucer describes as loving, trouthe and honour, freedom and curteisye (46). Since the knight is a worthy defender and protector of the people, the modern day equivalent would be our country s police officers and military. For higher ranking nobility, American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the fourteenth century, the control of the church weakened, and the church officials were no longer seen as nobility. Despite being poor, the parson in The Canterbury Tales displayed a hardworking and caring demeanor. Chaucer further explains the parson s character by mentioning, that first he wroughte, and afterward he taught (499). The parson s involvement in society can be mirrored by not only modern day preachers and church leaders, but by teachers as well. Teachers take the knowledge from their education and convey this wisdom onto students, much like the parson. The qualities of today s working class can be seen through Chaucer s depiction of the plowman. Indicating the importance and humility of the plowman s work, Chaucer establishes his significance in society. Our farmers, factory workers, and construction workers show the same persistent work ethic as the plowman, which exemplifies that they are the foundation of the American society. Where class and social status does not determine acceptability, the Canterbury Chapel is common ground for all the pilgrims to pray and make what they want out of the experience. A ... • 32. An Explication of Sharon Olds’ Poem, Feared Drowned Essay An Explication of Sharon Olds Poem Feared Drowned. Fear is an amazing emotion, in that it has both psychological as well as physiological effects on the human body. In instances of extreme fear, the mind is able to function in a way that is detached and connected to the event simultaneously. In Feared Drowned, Sharon Olds presents, in six brief stanzas, this type of instance. Her sparse use of language, rich with metaphors, similes and dark imagery, belies the horror experienced by the speaker. She closes the poem with a philosophical statement about life and the after effects that these moments of horror can have on our lives and relationships. The setting of the poem is a day at the ocean with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the poem, Olds use consonance sounds, particularly s w and z sounds, to recreate the sounds of the surf, and perhaps even the sound of gasping for air. In this respect, even the very sound of this poem reinforces its central idea of drowning. In the third stanza, the speaker scans the swimmers emerging from the water, realizing that none of them is her husband. The lack of emotion in her tone suggests that the speaker is experiencing that state of simultaneous detachment and connection that often occurs in moments of intense panic. The sense of foreboding is reinforced in the fourth stanza: Rocks stick out near the shore like heads / Kelp snakes in like a shed black suit... One wonders if the shed black suit is meant to be a symbol for typical funereal attire, perhaps the black suit the speaker fears she will bury her husband in. It is not until the fifth stanza that the speaker s body belies her fear and shock with a natural physiological response: My stomach begins to contract as if to / vomit salt water. As her husband emerges from the surf in the last stanza, the tone of the poem switches from one of darkness and fear, to one that is philosophical: Once you lose someone ... • 33. William Edward Burghardt, Du Bois And Dorothy E. Smith Essay In our society, we constantly are divided between a dominant group and an inferior group, whether it is by class, race, gender, sexuality, and so forth. Many people have been a victim of injustices and prejudism unless they are a part of what is known as the dominant group. There are a few theoriest who have used their platform (which they had to work hard for) to discuss important social issues. Two of the few are William Edward Burghardt (W.E.B) Du bois and Dorothy E. Smith. Although they faced different challenges and have faced different forms of discrimination, we can see how both of their theories are very similar (and somewhat different) from one another. Because of them, we are able to think about the real issues of our society and its effects on an individual. William Edward Burghardt (W.E.B) Du bois was a sociologist, author, and civil rights leader born during the late 1860 s. Du bois was the first African American to graduate at his high school and also was the first African American to receive a PhD from Harvard University. Unfortunately, due to the fact that racism is embedded in our society, Du Bois did not receive praise, and instead was ignored for his work while he was alive. However, Du Bois s work today could be seen as the most important on the subject of race and class (his main concern was with the nature and intersection of race and class), especially his well known book The Souls of Black Folk (1903) (pg. 257). This book was a compilation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A small stubble showed that he was in need of a shave. His skin was a soft mocha color while his cloths blared in a difficult contrast. He was obviously in a struggle when it all happened, but his face seemed unharmed. The cuffs of his collared shirt were ripped off, revealing scars and bruises. He couldn t have been any older than a high school student. Kile felt slightly intimidated by his looks. No more being the most handsome. Wait, that was stupid! He is kidnapped, this kid is kidnapped, now this guy! And what does he do? Worry that he isn t the pretty boy that he had clung on to for most of his life. Now he just felt bad. Kile s almost illuminating eyes watched Vincent as he too, was fairly curious of this new kidnap ie. If that was even a thing . The one responsible for all this kidnapping stood back and watched them with crossed arms and his back against a near by wall. His new special was certainly a different one. He found him most intriguing. Obviously the young man had Latino origins of sort, but he didn t sound it. When he lashed out, the kidnapper couldn t help but to be reminded of his father. • 35. Social And Political Views Of Democracy Democracy offers people the chance to be involved citizens rather than unreceptive subordinates. However, this right doesn t come unchallenged. Citizens are required to assess a broad range of political subjects (such as candidates, parties, and policies) and then combine and simplify their likings in a way that allows them to choose on voting decisions. So, how are these challenges met? In the United States, some citizens are conservative Republics, some are liberal Democrats, and others fall in between or outside the two. Recent studies have proposed that these recognitions play an important part in voting behavior and political perception. Recently, however, more studies have accumulated advocating for two meager assumptions in regards to this study: that liberal/conservative identifications are bipolar in meaning and that underlying this bipolarity is cognitive meaning based on political issues (Conover, Feldman, 265). These variances in political positions are called political attitudes, and fall on a spectrum between extremely liberal and extremely conservative. Broadly speaking, this spectrum distinguishes what someone believes about social issues and governments role in society. These beliefs are formed by a variation of aspects, which can include family, gender, religion, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and region. Even things like behavior, core ideals and values, and ideology can affect people s political attitudes. However, these opinions are not set in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From an moral standpoint the IGRA was created to keep in check the ethics of gambling in casinos but we find that the IGRA does not create the greatest amount of utility for tribes, but restricts their rights and gives an unfair advantage to state government. The IGRA is unethical in regards to tribes operating casinos on reservations. Since the settlement of America, Native Americans have received the short end of the stick. Settlers continuously encroached upon Native American land, completely disregarding the fact the Indians were there first. After years of displacing the Indians and fighting with them, the government allotted reservations for the Indians to call their own. Now that tribes have been finally given a chance at economic development, many reservations have taken advantage of casinos to provide a better life for tribal members. Moral issues have been brought up, from government to non Native Americans. Even tribal members argue the moral issues. People who are fighting this are fighting it for a variety of reasons. It s just how it would change the whole community, the flavor. Having a 24 7 bright lights, honky tonk feel, it s just not what people want. Says Susie Dewberry, a Suislaw tribal member.
