The Mind Controls Our Brain
For the last few years, with this significant progress in the field of neuroscience and the researches on
brain s study, there has been a huge modification of some statement that were considered as relevant
in the past such our brain controls our mind but, nowadays it s quite clear that science agrees the
contrary , which is our mind controls our brain and this can be elucidated by the fact that statistics
confirm that 75 98 % of physical, mental and behavior illnesses come from our thought life; 350
million worldwide people suffer from depression;40 million people in the U.S. suffer from anxiety and
disorders and there are more deaths from suicides than from car accidents. The interesting part of such
study is when the neuroplasticity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essay will demonstrate some of these facts: It will show first that positives thoughts build healthy
proteins in the brain, and secondary that negatives thoughts interfere one s ability to make wise
decision. The impact of healthy thought is obvious. The science has proved that human brain is wired
for beauty and for love (there is no room for the negative). Therefore when people are thinking and
choosing, they are causing genetic expression and that means that at that appropriate time the
production of proteins is happening and all these proteins grouped altogether form thought trees in the
brain. A human being is also a thinking being .Every time one is thinking; he is growing a physical
substance inside of the brain; he is actually changing the structure and function of his brain. So when
one s choosing to think life which is positives thoughts, he is building an extraordinary ability to
determine, achieve, and maintain optimal levels of intelligent, mental health, peace, and happiness, as
well as the prevention of disease in one s body and mind. If someone through conscious mind is able
to gain control of thoughts and feeling, by doing so, he gains the ability to change the programming
and chemistry of his brain. There are even more encouragement pieces about the plasticity of the
brain. For example, Universality believe logic and language are learned at fixed age, and someone
passed that fixed age, he can t learn. Plasticity research proves

Value Of Education In The United States
An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin lived in the eighteen century. He attended but did not graduate from the Boston
Latin School. However, Franklin was a very educated man. Franklin continued educating himself,
after withdrawing from the Boston Latin school, through other means such as reading. Nevertheless,
Franklin acknowledges the importance of education. Today, the value of education is often preached.
However, many of the United States` policies do not reflect on the so called importance of education.
For example, The United States spends 20% on Wars and only 3% on education. This tells us that the
United States do not care as much about education as we do about the wars. With such a low
investment in education, the United States has fallen behind in terms of education. However, there are
signs everywhere that the United States needs to invest more in education. For example, one was
considered an educated man if he graduated high school in the 1960`s. Thus, many viewed two and
four year universities as luxuries. Fast forward fifty years later, even careers that are entry level jobs

seem to be the answer. However, even public universities are no longer free for them. Many poor
people graduate from public universities in debt. Entering a very uncertain workforce and in debt,
many people find themselves settling for jobs where they are overqualified just to survive. Thus, they
take low paying jobs that will never allow them to pay back their loans and live a better life. To give
everyone equal opportunity for economic advancement, I suggest making public universities free for

Food In Medieval Times
Food. humans depend on it , without food, everyone would end up dying. People in the medieval
times did not have McDonalds or Burger King, no, they made a foundation to the food humans eat
today. Gathering food for the kings and peasants was difficult , it required hard work and
determination, but in the end, the kings and peasants received their food, and food was changing the
world. Society dramatically changed due to peasants and kings eating different food options, feasts,
and the Black Plague.
For those living in the manor house, there was a ride range of food available. According to medieval

Student Engagement And Learning Environment
The use of technology tools is one of the key components to preparing learners for the 21st century.
However, with the overwhelming abundance of technology tools and resources, educators are faced
with the challenge of selecting and implementing the most effective tools that lead to the highest level
of student learning. Although reading and writing text has been the focus of learning for thousands of
years (Myers, 1996), developments and changes in technology have made a vast impact on recent
literacy instruction and learning. Integrating technology into classrooms prepares students to be
successful learners in a dynamic world (November, 1998). During the last half of the 20th century,
technological innovations were introduced that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research shows that students are able to manage, store, and share their work in unique ways that
creates an increase in confidence and empowerment for independent learning (Toy, 2008). Students
have opportunities for inquiry, exploration, discovery, and evaluation while utilizing technology tools
and resources. Successful technology integration should be driven by the specific content and skills of
the adopted curriculum, guided by standards of best practice. Digital Learning World (2011) reports
the following:
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has developed National Education
Technology Standards (NETS) which are a set of benchmarks that help to measure competence for the
integration of technology in education. Originally conceived in 1998, NETS have now become the
internationally recognized standards for technology in education across all international curricula.
NETS are not subject content specific but address the skills students need for the digital literacy
required for success in the 21st century standards. (p. 1)
The NETS provide a guideline of standards for the best practices supporting the development of
technology literacy for students, teachers and educational leaders. Technology integration in the

Most Important Commandments In America
There are many commandments in America. Most of them are very important and should be followed.
There is many more that should be added . The commandments can prevent a lot of things. They can
also earn you some respect . I think more should be added. One commandment is that you should
always speak when you walk into a room .It is considered rude if you walk into a room full of people
and don t speak to them . You wouldn t like it if you were sitting in a room and somebody walked in
and don t acknowledge your presence . That s why the polite thing to do is speak. That earns you more
respect from others. The second most important commandment is respect your elders . Elders isn t just
old people or just random adults that you see. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you want respect, you first have to give it. You can t treat people any type of way and expect to be
treated like royalty. People treat you as you treat them on a daily basis .So if you want to be respected
, you have to remain respectful at all times. The fourth commandment is do not steal. Stealing is
always wrong no matter what way you try to put it as. Stealing is not only illegal, it s also a good way
to lose trust in people. You wouldn t like it if somebody stole from you so don t steal from them.
Stealing from people loses trust and respect so you should not steal from anybody at all. The fifth
commandment is if somebody sneezes , be courteous and say bless you. People usually sneeze and
expect to be told bless you afterwards. It is polite to say bless you after somebody sneezes. Most
people feel as if you care enough to say it once you say bless you to them . If you sneeze, you most
likely would want somebody to say bless you to you. Some people don t really mind whether someone
says it or not and some people do mind . Therefore , you should always say it just to be polite . There
is nothing wrong with being

Timothy Lloyd Essay
It was an early morning on July 31, 1996 when a worker logged in to his computer and triggered a
malicious code that instructed the system to delete the software that Omega Engineering company ran
in it is manufacturing operations. The criminal behind this was a man named Timothy Lloyd. He
worked for 11 years and as some point during his working experience with the company, he became
the network s administrator. He was part of the creation of this network, a system he knew all too well.
Three weeks after he was fired, this malicious software code was activated. He created six lines of
code, which they called a time bomb to detonate without him having to be present. This so called
bomb when triggered, was set to delete critical manufacturing software, bringing the file server down,
also bringing the hub of the network down and costing the company millions of dollars. They
designed and created software for the NASA and the U.S. Navy., so they were also affected by this
sabotage. They eventually had to lay off 80 workers due to damage of this sabotage. Lloyd also made
sure he took the backup tapes and formatted them, deleting everything and making sure nothing was

Utilization Rates of Pedestrian Bridges in Kuala Lumpur
Introduction
Traffic congestion and air pollution are becoming growing problems in many cities in Malaysia. In
order to discourage automobile dependency, and increase pedestrian activities particularly for short
trips, the government has begun to promote non motorized travel options by improving pedestrian
facilities that promote an assured level of convenience, comfort, and security for potential users. One
of the facilities that have been provided by the government is the pedestrian bridge.
A pedestrian bridge or footbridge is a bridge constructed for pedestrians and sometimes for cyclists
and bikers as well. It reduces the conflicts of traffic flow between the pedestrians and the vehicles by
separating them. Hence, it helps in overcoming accidents and offers safety.
However, due to the added travel distance, most of the pedestrians normally avoid using these bridges.
This in turn, adds to traffic congestion and accidents that involve pedestrians.
For the purposes of this research evaluation, the site selections are around the city of Kuala
Lumpur.ÂŹÂŹ
Background to the Study
Pedestrian bridges may offer safety and protection to the users but pedestrians often avoid using these
facilities. According to the survey that has been conducted by H. Rizati, Siti Zaharah Ishak, Intan
Rohani Endut (2013), this is due to several factors. They are the added travel distance, the location of
the facility, and the vehicle volume. Pedestrians prefer to utilize pedestrian

Titanic does not deserve its name the Titan. One reason is that the ship was called the Unsinkable .
This shows it is saying the ship was powerful. In Exploring the Titanic it say s, She was also called the

Also the Titanic was not powerful enough to hold the hit of the Iceberg. It says, The Titan hits an

Steam Engine Essay
The Steam Engine and the Maxim are both forms of technology which were man made that impacted
the world. The steam engine was used to make transportation easier and more convenient for people.
The Maxim gun on the other hand was used to conquer parts of the world and show superiority over
over other groups of people. While both inventions helped groups of people get what they wanted to
survive and thrive for many years, the Steam Engine is more superior compared to the Maxim. The
idea of the Steam Engine originated from a man named Thomas Savery, an English inventor and
engineer. Thomas Savery invented the Steam Engine in 1698. Mines were places where people could

When it came to weaponry Great Britain was always ahead of the game. Always trading old weapons
while having new weapons with them at all times. The most powerful weapon at that time was the
Maxim gun. The Maxim was invented by Hiram Maxim in 1883. Great Britain was one of the most
dominant countries who wanted Afric. Technology was what could explain their dominance. When
they took parts of Africa the Africans were unable to fight against them. That was because they could
not fight with arrows and a shotgun, while their opponents had a machine gun waiting for them. Great
Britain always had the best weapons. The Maxim was the ultimate weapon. It was a machine gun that
no one could stop.
Though the Maxim did what it was made to do, which was showing dominance and getting territory, it
only helped a specific group of people. Since it was a gun it was obviously used to kill people. The
only people in Africa at the time were Africans. The Maxim was only used for dominance and
claiming territory, because it looked like no other gun at that time. Not really used to help the
continent let alone help the world.
While both inventions helped people achieve their goals one helped more people than the other. The
Steam Engine as stated before helped many miners do their job and get a paycheck. It is also more
significant because it became another idea, and sparked new inventions. Those ideas being the
inventions of cars, trains, and planes. While the Maxim was able to accomplish

Photography Art History
During the 1850s the photographic community pursued an increased activity to advance the medium s
claims as art. In England, France, Italy, Germany and the United States several societies and
publications were founded, such as the Photographic Society of London (now the Royal Photographic
Society) and the Societe Francaise de Photographie, established in 1853 and 1854 respectively, still in
existence. Numerous professional publications such as La Lumiere in Paris, the Photographic Journal
in London, and others in Italy, Germany and the United States were at the vanguard of discussions
regarding photography as a legitimate art form, promoting spaces which would included exhibitions of
photography as well as painting.
At the beginning of 1862, an article published in the Photographic Journal, by an unknown author,
summed up the discussions over photography as art, stating: the question is not whether photography
is fine art per se neither painting nor sculpture can make that claim but whether it is capable of artistic
expression; whether in the hands of a true artists its productions become works of art. A French
naturalist, Louis Figuier, also made an accurate observation in regards to photography and fine arts:

For the past century, the Murders of Andrew J. Borden and his wife Abby Borden became one of

were found murdered in their homes. Andrew Borden, the richest man in Fall River, was found dead

Over the weeks following the murders, investigators made a timeline from August 3rd, the day before

Abby Borden had gone to see Dr. Bowen, claiming she and Mr. Borden had been poisoned because

Losing Sight Analysis
William Kraft, a musical composer and conductor, once said, When you go to the theater, if you re
really involved in the play, you don t think about it you re in it. This quote from William Kraft is
especially true for the One Act plays I attended. The smaller theater space and closer proximity to the
stage allowed you to more involved in the play than if you were seated farther away. In the following
response, a synopsis and critique of three of the plays I saw will be given.
The first act of the night was a play titled Losing Sight. To summarize this play, there was a talented
painter with diminishing vision. Because of his impending blindness, the painter tried to seclude
himself from and push away all his family and friends. With the help of his deceased grandfather and
ex girlfriend, the painter learned to accept his fate and return to life in the company of others.
The plot of Losing Sight is constructed around the painter s search for a new identity after his old
identity, which was found in painting, was taken from him. The plot follows a normal plot structure
beginning with an exposition and ending with a resolution. The three characters in the play worked off
each other nicely. The painter brought seriousness and sadness to the play while the grandfather added
a comedic side to the play that kept it from feeling overwhelmingly depressing. The third character in
the play was the painter s ex girlfriend who gave the painter something/someone to hold onto

Voltaire s Candide And The Age Of Enlightenment
The Age of Enlightenment was a philosophical and an intellectual movement that took place in Europe
during the 18th century. From the 1600 s to the 1800 s, philosophers opened a path for independent
thought and there were many advances in the scientific, political, economic, and mathematical realms.
Many ideas were transpiring and people began to mature, becoming less dependent on others. This
time is known for four major components: the idea of freedom of thought, rationality, progress and
humanitarianism. Philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Jean Jacques Rousseau,
Immanuel Kant, and Voltaire were all major minds that contributed to the Age of Enlightenment.
Voltaire, the author of Candide, wrote about the positives and negatives impacting a person s life. The
plot of the novel revolves around Candide s journey to find Cunegonde, the supposed love of his life.
Throughout the novel, characters face highs and lows, such as becoming rich, being scammed, and
forced into exile. Using Candide s life and the lives and philosophies of minor characters, Voltaire
satirizes aspects of the Age of Enlightenment, especially the idea of rationality.
Voltaire is not criticizing the idea of being rational but rather he is criticizing the way people
determine rationality through the philosophies of Pangloss and Martin, while utilizing the character,
Candide, to satirize their thoughts through a crude lens. Throughout the book, Voltaire emphasizes that
Pangloss, a philosopher who

service.Considering these arguments, Oasis Window Ltd have the full right to file a Builders Lien Act
to secure the material and services they have contributed.
Arguments of Coppergate Development Inc.
Coppergate is not liable to pay the total due for the supply of windows because there was no contract
between Coppergate and the plaintiff. They could have been involved with the Builders Lien Act if the
contract was made between Plaintiff and Coppergate. However, this contract was only made in
between Houser Homes and the plaintiff not with the landowner. Consequently, resources were limited
to the subcontractor and no claim as opposed to the owner, or the land that was enhanced. Therefore, it
is clear that the claim against Coppergate was bound to fail.

We have successfully completed numerous large scale projects, some of which have been tasked by
provincial governments themselves, such as the construction of the Trans Canada Highway in New
Brunswick known as Route 2 (Trans Canada Highway Infrastructure, 2016). This particular project
not only served its purpose in facilitating transportation, but has also served as an extremely safe,
secure and efficient route for economic development (Government of New Brunswick, 2007). Another
major project that we have successfully completed is the Canada metro line in Vancouver, British
Columbia. This major transportation line consisted of sixteen metro stations and connects to the Expo
and Millennium lines as well as many bus routes (Transit 101, 2017). Other noticeable projects
completed by SNC Lavalin include the Goreway Power Station, The Ambatovy Nickel Project, the
William R. Bennett Bridge and many more projects, all of which have followed our ethical values and

Cloning By Diller And Von Furstenberg
Would you risk so many problems to have another pet identical to the one you already have or already
had? There are so many pets in the world, why would we clone to make more? Things could wrong
with cloning and it would be weird. For instance, I don t understand why people would clone their
dog, Sally, to help with grief. When they are grieving because Sally died. That would be weird most of
the time.
Just because someone pays a lot of money to clone their dog, that doesn t mean they will get the same
dog back. For example, Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg cloned their Jack Russell terrier,
Shannon, and now have two identical Jack Russells. Diller and von Furstenberg can raise the dogs in
the same way as they did Shannon, but they will

Spiritual Food of the Baroque Period
The baroque period brought forth the most ornamented art of all time. The musical field grew parallel
to the fields of painting and sculpture, all three categories experienced a dramatic increase in interest.
Consequentially, the sudden flow of finances allowed the musicians to examine, modify, and renew
their standards and methods. Baroque music quickly developed into a very individual style. During the
nearly one hundred and fifty years that the Baroque period lasted the basic style did not change, in fact
it was simple built upon. Francis Schaeffer advises us that the arts are ways to understand the society
and politics of the past, given the distinct correlation between the art world and music world we can
tell that the Baroque period was a time of peaceful renovation. The driving ideology of Baroque music
was the need to communicate.
Baroque music has many characteristics that set it apart. Early baroque music uses extreme instrument
contrast to create a dramatic emotional climax. Later musicians developed a method of succinctly
building a climax. The other noticeable difference is the key instruments are tuned to. The quality of
instruments has significantly increased since the Baroque period, to mimic the original sound of
baroque pieces orchestras often tune their instruments down about half a key. Melody and harmony
were emphasized across the board instead of in individual genres. Another key characteristic was the
attitude of the composers, in desperation to

Things Fall Apart Culture
Chinua Achebe makes many comments throughout his writings in Things Fall Apart about the belief
systems that the people of the Ibo culture follow. During the novel the Ibo people identifies
themselves as an agricultural society, they are very dependent on their crops they grow. Throughout
the story the people of Umuofia are reliant on their production of crops, especially yams. Similar to
The Lottery , their town believes in superstitious ideas in order to feel as though they are in control.

Essay on Padres and Indians
One of the things which largely go unrecognized is how vital the missions were to the military in
California in the 19th century. Since the military in California received little to no support during the
Mexican revolution against Spain, and suffered more after Mexico won its independence from Spain
in 1821. In particular, Mission San Jose was expected to furnish food to the military presidios as a way
of preventing famines. In fact this had been established in the 1770 s with the Reglamento,
It is also important to note that in Spanish California at this time, the dominant economic system was
based on that of bartering. Pesos were far more an abstract economic factor for both the missionaries
as well as the soldiers. Since pesos would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But for the present the mission offers 200 pesos, the only ones it has and 300 fanegas of wheat for
trade with the Russian ship if it enters, etc., all for the sole purpose of helping the troops.
This letter from Duran was in response to an earlier circular (a letter which was sent to all missions)
from Fr. SarrĂa in which he stated:
You know the state of the nation and the misery an suffering of the monarchy on account of the war. I
know it is not good to dispossess the neophytes but it is essential for the missions to contribute goods
and other necessities for the maintenance of the troops and their families as we did last yeafr and
which we must do again. It is our patriotic duty.
Duran s response to SarrĂa is interesting on two levels. The first level is his mention of trade with the
Russian ships. One of the primary roles for colonizing Alta California (and utilizing the evangelizing
fervor of the Franciscan missionaries for this was to create a bulwark against foreign incursions,
primarily of the Russians, though later the English and the Americans would enter into the mix. This
was accomplished easily enough during the early days of the missions existence when they were
struggling just to survive. In the beginning, the missions had nothing which the commercial interest
(which was the driving force of an empire) would be interested in, since at that time the missions were
barely producing enough to support themselves, let alone produce surplus for sale. This

Two Old Women
In the Deep South women were always known of as housewives. They were not given individual
identities but rather a collective personality that all women possessed. Kate Chopin uses this theme of
the individuality of women in all of her short stories and other writings. In The Story of An Hour,
Chopin expresses this very well, using the character Louise Mallard. As in Chopin s typical stories,
Louise Mallard is a woman looking for her inner self and thinks she found it but goes through a hard
time and attempts to overcome it while having a positive outlook on life. However, through her
marriage she has been a patient, self sacrificing, restless woman who believed she was given a chance
to change her life around for the better, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over
and over under her breath: free, free, free! Mrs. Mallard had an epiphany on her outlook on life. The
freedom that she always wanted and the freedom that she had when she was married were at two
different ends of the spectrum. Louise continues to have this revelation of freedom and persists on
telling herself of this new found liberty, Free! Body and soul free! she kept whispering. Chopin uses
not only dialogue to resemble freedom but she uses many symbols throughout the short story that help
the reader continually think of freedom and transformation. No; she was drinking the very elixir of life
through that open window. The open window represents Louise s soul and how with the death of her
husband, a new opportunity has presented itself and she is going to take full advantage of it. She
looked outside and began to understand how little of the outside world she has seen and how much she
has missed. In the street below a peddler was crying his wares. The notes of a distant song which
someone was singing reached her faintly, and sparrows were twittering in the eaves. The preceding
quote makes the reader understand that the short story takes place in the springtime. Chopin does a
very good job of encompassing yet another symbol into her work to

Complexity Theory
INTRODUCTION Brain manages the body functions, and process the information that allows us to
act on a changeable external environment. To fulfill these functions, during evolution, brain acquired a
large computing power, and specialized functions, such as cognition, emotion and consciousness. With
approximately 86 billion neurons (Herculano Houzel, 2009), each neuron with approximately
hundreds to thousands of synapses has a great structural complexity, and with its non linearity, it
presents a rich dynamic. It is also a physical system composed of neurons that communicate with each
other through electrical discharges. With that in mind, it is no coincidence that the main model used in
neuroscience to describe the behavior of neurons was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the question, yet unsolved, is how the brain binds these distinct neural representations and
allow us to have the notion of one single object. This problem becomes more apparent when we
present to the brain more than one object, for example, a red triangle, and a yellow square. How given
the features triangle, square, red, and yellow, to avoid an incorrect combination?
If we take a computer system like a PC this would be no problem, because each information would be
allocated in a specific memory address. However in a distributed system, such as the brain, the
solution is not trivial. Moreover it is not a matter of finding a mechanism that works across a generic
distributed system, but one that is appropriate for the brain. It is important to note that when I say that
every sensory feature would be identified with a specific assembly of neurons, it does not mean that
these neurons need to be located next to each other. An intuitive solution would be to imagine the
existence of dedicated assembly connecting the different features that are represented in distinct parts
of the brain. Other alternative would be the presence of specialized synapses connecting distinct
feature assemblies. However, these options were discarded since these solutions would involve
creating specialized circuits in the brain. As a consequence of this inflexibility, the demand for
memory storage and processing would be greater than that the brain

The Merits And Merits Of Media Coverage Of Terrorism Essay
Q. Using any case/s of your choice, discuss the merits and de merits of media coverage of terrorism.
Introduction: From the outset, the paper makes clarity of the key terms terrorism and media coverage.
According to Magstadt (2009:506) terrorism has been defined in many ways, but the most definitions
take into account several factors including violence s, the desire for publicity, political motive and
intimidation aimed at the civilian populations. Jerkins (n.d.) terrorism is the use or threatened use of
force designed to bring about political change . As depicted from the above definitions activities of
terrorism have gone through premeditation stage, implementation and more to be fulfilled. In 1983 the
world woke up to the breaking news that terrorists bombed the United States Embassy in Beirut and
killed 63 people. Other acts of terrorism followed and in 1995 the world was shocked to hear that
members of the Aum Shinrikyo released deadly sarin gas in the Tokyo subway in five coordinated
attacks killing 12 and severely injuring 50 and causing temporary vision problems for others and this
is classified as domestic terrorism practiced within a single country by terrorists with no ties to
another government. As if that was enough, in August 1998 a large car bomb explodes in the central
district of Omagh, Northern Ireland killing 29 people and injuring 330. Dreadfully, four commercial
jet airliners are hijacked from East Cost Airport, two were directed to crash into the

Reaction Paper On Aspartame
Aspartame is an artificial sweetner used commonly and widely in most of the products especially in
diet foods all over the world. Aspartame is one of the most common artifical sugar subsitute used,
which is sold under the brand names NutraSweet and Equal.
It is a non sachharide sweetner, made by coupling of two amino acids (Phenylalanine and Aspartic
Acid) together. It is a methly ester of the aspartic acid and phenylalanine dipeptide.
Aspartame is used as it is 200 times more sweeter than sugar, so a very less amount is used in
replacement of sugars giving lowest calories.
History
M. Schlatter, a chemist working for G.D Searle and company, discovered aspartame as an intermediate
product, during the integration of hormone gastrin. The sweet taste of aspartame was discovered
accidently in 1965, when he licked his finger which had come in tact with the aspartame.

Chapman s article explains the truth behind coerced false confessions, which involves suspects
admitting to a crime they did not commit. With true examples and specific explanations and
descriptions, Chapman shows just how suspects feel their only option is a fabricated confession.
Through interrogations, police can involve threats, manipulation, persuasion, and several other
methods to make a person confess. Factors such as stress and fear can also cause suspects to confess.
In some cases, innocent suspects even come to believe they are guilty due to incorrect interrogation
methods. This article is not all about police forcing people to confess though, it also explains how
police are put under a tremendous amount of pressure to get a confession out of someone, any person
who will confess. Therefore, they do anything they can to get the confession they so ... Show more

The Battle Of The Little Bighorn River
Little Bighorn Battle Analysis
The Battle of the Little Bighorn River, which took stage on the 25th and 26th of June 1876, was
known to the Lakota as the Battle of the Greasy Grass. This Battle was also one of the last important
stands of the American Indians against the United States of America. The Battle took place in the
Montana Territory between the combined Indian tribes of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and
Arapaho tribes. These Indian tribes led by Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and other Indian leaders battled
the Seventh Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The Indian forces were victorious during
this battle where they faced their much smaller in number opponent led by General George Armstrong
Custer. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the events that led to the conflict, the environment of
the battle ground, the disposition and composition of each side, actions, inactions taken as well as the
their significance.
The Indians, threatened by the expansion of the white settlements west of the Mississippi River, this
endangered their way of life that revolved around the Buffalo and eventually led to their confinement
to reservations. The United States Government claimed a large portion of their lands for other uses but
did grant the plain Indians with an area exclusive to them known as the Great Sioux Reservation,
established by the treaty of 1868. It also allowed them hunting ground and grazing land for the
Buffalo outside the reservation.

Since gaining independence from the British in 1776, the United States foreign policy over the years
has gone from expansionist to isolationism to defending democracy. With the responsibility of
defending democratic rights for those who cannot defend themselves, the United States in my opinion
has taken on the role of policeman of the world. This role became more evident with the use of U.S.
military force in international incidents like U.S. intervention in the 2011 Libyan Civil War to oust

Three international incidents from the past five years that can be traced back to a foreign policy
created after the Civil War are Vietnam, Somalia, and Iraq. The Vietnam War began in 1955 and was
fought between communist North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The regime of North Vietnam and its
allies known as the Viet Cong were supported by the Russian government while South Vietnam s
primary ally was the United States.
In 1991 the President of Somalia Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown and this led to the beginning
of a civil war. During this time various militias vied for control of the country. This marked a period of
intense violence and fighting which eventually required both United Nations Peacekeeping forces and
U.S. military involvement.
The Iraqi war of 2003 started after Iraq claimed to possess weapons of mass destruction. Under the
dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, some segments of the Iraqi population prospered while others were
threatened with violence, tortured, and killed. Under Saddam Hussein s regime, Iraq developed
chemical weapons that were used against its enemies and even its own people.

Sexism And Hostile Sexism
Sexism, is a prejudice plain and simple. One of the earliest forms of violence directed toward women
was the Witch Hunt Trials of the Middle Ages. Bishops debated whether a woman was really human at
all. If her nose were too long, she had red hair, a humped back, or if she was exceptionally beautiful,
she was thought to be a witch and was burned at the stake. There was an estimated nine million
women burned during the Witch Trials. During the Women s Liberation Movement in the 1960 s,
feminist theorists explained that oppression of women was widespread in nearly all human society,
and spoke of sexism instead of male chauvinism. Male chauvinists were usually individual men who
expressed the belief that they were superior to women (Napikoski). By the mid 20th century sexism
was established and began to appear in advertising. Between the 1970 s and 1990 s women began to
feel more equal to men until the 1980 s where they were portrayed as sex symbols on national
television (The Origin and History of SEXISM). There are two main types of sexism, benevolent and
hostile, and their definitions are opposite from one another. Hostile sexism is what most people
perceive as sexism today as it seems sexism is occurring more and more often and is, notably, more
vulgar. It is the notion that women are inferior or not as worthy; a belief that males are intrinsically
superior. For many years women have been degraded and looked down upon with the idea that their
place is in the kitchen with

Invitation To A Journey Summary
Invitation to a Journey: A Roadmap for Spiritual Formation is dedicated to spiritual formation. This
can be seen by how it integrates spiritual practice with God s word and with the goal of guiding the
reader toward transformation in the image of Christ. Mulholland doesn t simply cover the traditionally
recognized disciplines, but instead exposes the reader to many aspects of formation rarely discussed in
detail like how our formation involves and impacts others and how personality structures affect
formation. He does talk about the classic four stage pilgrimage of awakening, purgation, illumination,
and union but keeps from making them the main focus. The book is broken into four sections, The
Road Map, The Vehicle, The Journey, and Companions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process reveals our cross, or area where we must die and be raised into the newness of Christ s
image. To do so requires the step of consecration where we must recognize our cross point and accept
the transforming work of Christ. These two steps begin the process of being transformed into Christ s
image, which is the essence of our forming journey and a vital part of the definition of spiritual
formation. Mulholland then gives extended attention to how our spiritual formation affects those
around us. We are conformed to Christ s image for the sole purpose of being in a relationship with
both God and with others. The example given in support, is Christ and in his sacrifice, which was for
all; he died totally and completely for all and such is our call in the transforming process of spiritual
formation. This concept I thought was the easiest part of the book because it was the most obvious
until I examined my heart. Right now I cannot say that I would be willing to die for anyone because I
still value my life more than some people. He presented the dying for others as if it was not only
simply easy but as if it was the easiest thing but I am finding dying to myself to be the hardest

The Role Of Identity In Dante s Inferno
The role of religion, ancestry, and nationality are crucial in forming one s identity. These items and
more come together to create a sense of security for an individual. The narrative epic poem, The
Inferno, by Dante Alighieri takes the reader with Dante on his journey through Hell and rediscovery of
his identity. Dante s journey commenced as a result to him falling into temptations whilst falling away
from God. This led him to travel through the Dark Wood of Error which symbolizes the worldliness
that occurs when one strays from the True Way, or God s Way. The spirit of the poet Virgil,
symbolizing Human Reason, appears and leads Dante away from the Dark Wood of Error and to the
Divine Illumination with a journey through Hell. The need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Furthermore, those he converses with had impacted Dante in some way during his lifetime. The
combination of religion and nationality begin to form the prominent factors of Dante s identity as he
commences his journey through Hell in order to reestablish himself as a committed Catholic. Not only
was Dante overwhelmed by the feeling of chaos due to the fear of losing his identity, but he was also
faced with the overpowering sense of disorientation brought upon by being in Hell. The disarray
caused the need for Dante to find a way to bring security onto himself. The security that Dante sought
was found in increasing the strength of his identity. For many people, identity brings about a sense of
security because it allows them to connect with a specific group of people who are similar to them.
Knowing that there are people who think, talk, act, and believe in a similar way is comforting to many
people. For example, when Dante was exiled He was no longer Dante of Florence. He was without
identity, nome, or without name (Brantley). Dante lost the security that came with being a Florentine
and being associated with Florence. Instead he was just Dante and because of that the security he had
with his identity was shaken. Dante may have shared his Catholic beliefs with others, but once a vital

Jeune Syndrome Disease
Jeune syndrome is a rare inherited disease that has a significant impact on infants and small children.
As a result of this disease infants with this condition usually experiences difficulty breathing, kidney
abnormalities, and other life threatening issues. Antenatal examination is possible by ultrasound but
specific diagnosis is difficult and seemingly impossible. Individuals are diagnosed at birth after
careful observation of the limbs and chest area. Patients usually die from respiratory failure because of
a very small chest and repeated respiratory infections (Phillips and Van Aalst 2008). There is not a lot
that can be done for patients with Jeune syndrome because scientists are still in the process of
obtaining knowledge about the initial cause and ways to prevent the mutation (Phillips and Van Aalst
2008). It is understood that because this is autosomal recessive disease, meaning both parents must be
carriers.
When it comes to Jeune syndrome the primary problem rose from the disruption of proteins found in
the cilia. The cilia is known as the hair like structures that protrude from the cell membrane and is
responsible for moving the cell they are attached to or moving the liquid that is adjacent to the cell
(Miller et al 2013). Very few people view the cilia as a signaling hub which contains the noncanonical

Airport Vacation Essay
It was spring break 2016, my freshman year in high school. My mom had booked our flight to Florida
a few months before. I was more excited for this vacation than most others because my parents told
my younger sister and me we could each bring a friend. We chose to bring our cousins Ellie and Adri.
Neither of them had ever been on a plane before, in result the flight down was quite interesting. At one
point my cousin Adri said to me as she looked down out the airplane window, Woooah! Look you can
see the stars. I afterwards had to remind her that we were flying through clouds, which mean the stars
would be above us not below. Adri, those are the city lights. I said back to her giggling. Over the rest
of the plane ride we chatted and took a couple short naps. When our plane finally landed in Florida,
we exited in to the airport to go retrieve our luggage. It was pleasant to step outside and be surrounded
by warm air once again after coming from the chill of Kansas earlier that morning. Of course the hotel
we were staying at wasn t right beside the airport, we rented a cab to take us there. Our cab driver
acted as if she knew where she was going; although, we ended up getting lost for around fifteen
minutes making the ride an hour total. Once we finally arrived, we were eager to reach our room, put
on our swimsuits, and hit the beach! By the time we had settled in to the room and headed out to the

Trifles Analysis
Woman
Susan Glaspell shows her readers that women will no longer be in the background. By writing Trifles
she gave women an outlook they have never received before. Trifles is a coming up story about
women, in other words its about women and their rise to power. Glaspell embodies the women spirit
by showing the power, conning, and intectellt of the women in her play.
When people think of power the first thing that comes to mind is a man Women are shown to be weak,
mindless and serving, but in Trifles Glaspell depicts women to have more fire and power. In 1900 s
women were housewives they did not own anything and did what they were told kind of like slaves.
Trifles shows Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright as something much more than that. Right in the
beginning (1860) it shows that Mrs. Wright might have committed murder.Trifles shows that this
woman could have possess the power to kill a man. That was unheard of in the 1900 s because women
did not speak out or defend themselves against a man. Mrs. Hale shows just a snippet of her power
when The County Attorney on page (1861) says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you
say, ladies? Mrs.Hale claps back with There s a great deal of work to be done on a farm. Mrs. Hales
defends Mrs. Wright because she knows just how difficult it is to maintain a household and didn t feel
that was necessary because they had Mrs. Wright leave in a hurry. Mrs. Hale yet again shows she is
not afraid of what is to come on page (1864) she undoes the knot on the quilt and the sewing comes
undone. Mrs.Hale at this time knows that this quilt is evidence but does not care and starts to sew.
Mrs. Peters finally shows she is capable of having powerful demeanor on page (1866) she says ...If
they hadn t held me back I would have... hurt him. A boy killed her cat and that made her angry
enough to think about hurting and possibly killing him. Power has many different forms and women
are starting to take on that form.
Women are capable of many things and being conning is just one of them. People lie all the time to get
away with things they do not want to get in trouble for. For a woman to lie was unheard of especially
to an attorney and sheriff. Mrs.

So when one s choosing to think life which is positives thoughts, he is building an extraordinary ability to determine, achieve, and maintain optimal levels of intelligent, mental health, peace, and happiness, as well as the prevention of disease in one s body and mind. If someone through conscious mind is able to gain control of thoughts and feeling, by doing so, he gains the ability to change the programming and chemistry of his brain. There are even more encouragement pieces about the plasticity of the brain. He attended but did not graduate from the Boston Latin School. However, Franklin was a very educated man. Franklin continued educating himself, after withdrawing from the Boston Latin school, through other means such as reading. Nevertheless, Franklin acknowledges the importance of education. Today, the value of education is often preached. However, many of the United States` policies do not reflect on the so called importance of education. For example, The United States spends 20% on Wars and only 3% on education. This tells us that the United States do not care as much about education as we do about the wars. With such a low investment in education, the United States has fallen behind in terms of education. However, there are signs everywhere that the United States needs to invest more in education. For example, one was considered an educated man if he graduated high school in the 1960`s. Thus, many viewed two and four year universities as luxuries. It keeps the poor at the bottom of the food chain and allow for the rich to continually grow more prosperous. For many poor people in the U.S. who seek to become more educated, public Universities seem to be the answer. However, even public universities are no longer free for them. Many poor people graduate from public universities in debt. • 24. Essay on Padres and Indians One of the things which largely go unrecognized is how vital the missions were to the military in California in the 19th century. Since the military in California received little to no support during the Mexican revolution against Spain, and suffered more after Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821. In particular, Mission San Jose was expected to furnish food to the military presidios as a way of preventing famines. In fact this had been established in the 1770 s with the Reglamento, It is also important to note that in Spanish California at this time, the dominant economic system was based on that of bartering. SarrĂa in which he stated: You know the state of the nation and the misery an suffering of the monarchy on account of the war. I know it is not good to dispossess the neophytes but it is essential for the missions to contribute goods and other necessities for the maintenance of the troops and their families as we did last yeafr and which we must do again. It is our patriotic duty. Duran s response to SarrĂa is interesting on two levels. The first level is his mention of trade with the Russian ships. One of the primary roles for colonizing Alta California (and utilizing the evangelizing fervor of the Franciscan missionaries for this was to create a bulwark against foreign incursions, primarily of the Russians, though later the English and the Americans would enter into the mix. This was accomplished easily enough during the early days of the missions existence when they were struggling just to survive. In the beginning, the missions had nothing which the commercial interest (which was the driving force of an empire) would be interested in, since at that time the missions were barely producing enough to support themselves, let alone produce surplus for sale. • 25. Two Old Women In the Deep South women were always known of as housewives. They were not given individual identities but rather a collective personality that all women possessed. Kate Chopin uses this theme of the individuality of women in all of her short stories and other writings. In The Story of An Hour, Chopin expresses this very well, using the character Louise Mallard. As in Chopin s typical stories, Louise Mallard is a woman looking for her inner self and thinks she found it but goes through a hard time and attempts to overcome it while having a positive outlook on life. However, through her marriage she has been a patient, self sacrificing, restless woman who believed she was given a chance to change her life around for the better, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under her breath: free, free, free! Mrs. Mallard had an epiphany on her outlook on life. The freedom that she always wanted and the freedom that she had when she was married were at two different ends of the spectrum. Louise continues to have this revelation of freedom and persists on telling herself of this new found liberty, Free! Body and soul free! she kept whispering. Chopin uses not only dialogue to resemble freedom but she uses many symbols throughout the short story that help the reader continually think of freedom and transformation. No; she was drinking the very elixir of life through that open window. The open window represents Louise s soul and how with the death of her husband, a new opportunity has presented itself and she is going to take full advantage of it. She looked outside and began to understand how little of the outside world she has seen and how much she has missed. In the street below a peddler was crying his wares. The notes of a distant song which someone was singing reached her faintly, and sparrows were twittering in the eaves. The preceding quote makes the reader understand that the short story takes place in the springtime. Chopin does a very good job of encompassing yet another symbol into her work to ... • 26. Complexity Theory INTRODUCTION Brain manages the body functions, and process the information that allows us to act on a changeable external environment. To fulfill these functions, during evolution, brain acquired a large computing power, and specialized functions, such as cognition, emotion and consciousness. With approximately 86 billion neurons (Herculano Houzel, 2009), each neuron with approximately hundreds to thousands of synapses has a great structural complexity, and with its non linearity, it presents a rich dynamic. It is also a physical system composed of neurons that communicate with each other through electrical discharges. With that in mind, it is no coincidence that the main model used in neuroscience to describe the behavior of neurons was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the question, yet unsolved, is how the brain binds these distinct neural representations and allow us to have the notion of one single object. This problem becomes more apparent when we present to the brain more than one object, for example, a red triangle, and a yellow square. How given the features triangle, square, red, and yellow, to avoid an incorrect combination? If we take a computer system like a PC this would be no problem, because each information would be allocated in a specific memory address. However in a distributed system, such as the brain, the solution is not trivial. Moreover it is not a matter of finding a mechanism that works across a generic distributed system, but one that is appropriate for the brain. It is important to note that when I say that every sensory feature would be identified with a specific assembly of neurons, it does not mean that these neurons need to be located next to each other. An intuitive solution would be to imagine the existence of dedicated assembly connecting the different features that are represented in distinct parts of the brain. Other alternative would be the presence of specialized synapses connecting distinct feature assemblies. However, these options were discarded since these solutions would involve creating specialized circuits in the brain. As a consequence of this inflexibility, the demand for memory storage and processing would be greater than that the brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction: From the outset, the paper makes clarity of the key terms terrorism and media coverage. According to Magstadt (2009:506) terrorism has been defined in many ways, but the most definitions take into account several factors including violence s, the desire for publicity, political motive and intimidation aimed at the civilian populations. Jerkins (n.d.) terrorism is the use or threatened use of force designed to bring about political change . As depicted from the above definitions activities of terrorism have gone through premeditation stage, implementation and more to be fulfilled. In 1983 the world woke up to the breaking news that terrorists bombed the United States Embassy in Beirut and killed 63 people. Other acts of terrorism followed and in 1995 the world was shocked to hear that members of the Aum Shinrikyo released deadly sarin gas in the Tokyo subway in five coordinated attacks killing 12 and severely injuring 50 and causing temporary vision problems for others and this is classified as domestic terrorism practiced within a single country by terrorists with no ties to another government. As if that was enough, in August 1998 a large car bomb explodes in the central district of Omagh, Northern Ireland killing 29 people and injuring 330. This Battle was also one of the last important stands of the American Indians against the United States of America. The Battle took place in the Montana Territory between the combined Indian tribes of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes. These Indian tribes led by Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and other Indian leaders battled the Seventh Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The Indian forces were victorious during this battle where they faced their much smaller in number opponent led by General George Armstrong Custer. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the events that led to the conflict, the environment of the battle ground, the disposition and composition of each side, actions, inactions taken as well as the their significance. The Indians, threatened by the expansion of the white settlements west of the Mississippi River, this endangered their way of life that revolved around the Buffalo and eventually led to their confinement to reservations. • 32. Sexism And Hostile Sexism Sexism, is a prejudice plain and simple. One of the earliest forms of violence directed toward women was the Witch Hunt Trials of the Middle Ages. Bishops debated whether a woman was really human at all. If her nose were too long, she had red hair, a humped back, or if she was exceptionally beautiful, she was thought to be a witch and was burned at the stake. There was an estimated nine million women burned during the Witch Trials. During the Women s Liberation Movement in the 1960 s, feminist theorists explained that oppression of women was widespread in nearly all human society, and spoke of sexism instead of male chauvinism. Male chauvinists were usually individual men who expressed the belief that they were superior to women (Napikoski). By the mid 20th century sexism was established and began to appear in advertising. Between the 1970 s and 1990 s women began to feel more equal to men until the 1980 s where they were portrayed as sex symbols on national television (The Origin and History of SEXISM). There are two main types of sexism, benevolent and hostile, and their definitions are opposite from one another. Hostile sexism is what most people perceive as sexism today as it seems sexism is occurring more and more often and is, notably, more vulgar. It is the notion that women are inferior or not as worthy; a belief that males are intrinsically superior. This process reveals our cross, or area where we must die and be raised into the newness of Christ s image. To do so requires the step of consecration where we must recognize our cross point and accept the transforming work of Christ. Mulholland then gives extended attention to how our spiritual formation affects those around us. We are conformed to Christ s image for the sole purpose of being in a relationship with both God and with others. The example given in support, is Christ and in his sacrifice, which was for all; he died totally and completely for all and such is our call in the transforming process of spiritual formation. The disarray caused the need for Dante to find a way to bring security onto himself. The security that Dante sought was found in increasing the strength of his identity. For many people, identity brings about a sense of security because it allows them to connect with a specific group of people who are similar to them. Knowing that there are people who think, talk, act, and believe in a similar way is comforting to many people. For example, when Dante was exiled He was no longer Dante of Florence. Patients usually die from respiratory failure because of a very small chest and repeated respiratory infections (Phillips and Van Aalst 2008). There is not a lot that can be done for patients with Jeune syndrome because scientists are still in the process of obtaining knowledge about the initial cause and ways to prevent the mutation (Phillips and Van Aalst 2008). It is understood that because this is autosomal recessive disease, meaning both parents must be carriers. When it comes to Jeune syndrome the primary problem rose from the disruption of proteins found in the cilia. The cilia is known as the hair like structures that protrude from the cell membrane and is responsible for moving the cell they are attached to or moving the liquid that is adjacent to the cell (Miller et al 2013). Trifles is a coming up story about women, in other words its about women and their rise to power. Glaspell embodies the women spirit by showing the power, conning, and intectellt of the women in her play. When people think of power the first thing that comes to mind is a man Women are shown to be weak, mindless and serving, but in Trifles Glaspell depicts women to have more fire and power. In 1900 s women were housewives they did not own anything and did what they were told kind of like slaves. Trifles shows Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright as something much more than that. Right in the beginning (1860) it shows that Mrs. Wright might have committed murder.Trifles shows that this woman could have possess the power to kill a man. That was unheard of in the 1900 s because women did not speak out or defend themselves against a man. Mrs. Hale shows just a snippet of her power when The County Attorney on page (1861) says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? Mrs.Hale claps back with There s a great deal of work to be done on a farm. Mrs. Hales defends Mrs. Wright because she knows just how difficult it is to maintain a household and didn t feel that was necessary because they had Mrs. Wright leave in a hurry. Mrs. Hale yet again shows she is not afraid of what is to come on page (1864) she undoes the knot on the quilt and the sewing comes undone. Mrs.Hale at this time knows that this quilt is evidence but does not care and starts to sew. Mrs. Peters finally shows she is capable of having powerful demeanor on page (1866) she says ...If they hadn t held me back I would have... hurt him.
