We Need a Precise Definition of Terrorism Essays
We Need a Precise Definition of Terrorism
In early 1974, the Secretary General of the United Nations, U Thant, invited the Palestinian Liberation
Organization to attend the General Assembly gathering on November 13, 1974, and in doing so gave
legitimacy to the Palestinian Liberation Organization as a governing body. In Yasser Arafat s speech to
the General Assembly, he thanked the United Nations for recognizing his organization and its
legitimacy. When Arafat addressed the General Assembly, he made the argument that the actions taken
by his government were not acts of terrorism, but these were acts of revolution and their purpose was
to regain control of Palestine s occupied original territory. The problem we confront is, there is no ...

Arafat points out that this was the beginning of the creation of the illegal state of Israel. When the
United Nations General Assembly partitioned off the Palestinian land in 1948, the Palestinian people
rejected their planed creation of a Jewish State within their homeland. Even though the Palestinians
rejected their decision, the State of Israel was created and recognized as a sovereign nation by the
United Nations. Shortly after its creation, Israel began expelling Palestinians and Muslims from their
land and from their homes. The Palestinians that were able to remain within the borders of Israel were
treated as third class citizens (second class citizens were the Asians and Jews) and had to notify the
Israeli Military of all their movements. 1 This is when the people of Palestine began their efforts to
retake their land that rightfully belonged to them.
Arafat believed the actions taken by the Palestinian Liberation Organization against the Israeli
Government and agents of the government were not terrorist actions, but were revolutionary actions.
The injustice placed upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli Government justified the Palestinian s
the right to struggle. Yasser Arafat made it very clear that his cause/struggle is not with the Jewish
people but with the unlawful creation of the Jewish State. Arafat also claimed that his government
does not sanction actions taken by separatist groups within the Palestinian Liberation

Norovirus Viruses affect us in our everyday life and they have become something that is not an
abnormal phenomenon or a fatal occurrence like it was in olden times. (Alic and Longe , 2015)
Likewise, the viruses that affect us have much impact of what the actual disease is. Norovirus being an
example of a virus that affects our daily lives and can be fatal. (Longe, 2015) This disease is highly
contagious and is very often overlooked by the public eye, however it can have much impact on our
daily lives and how we live. This virus can be seen throughout all of your lifetime and can affect

The Influence Of Age, Work Experience, Education Level,...
Chapter 3: Methodology
The researcher conducted this quantitative research study to explore the influence of age, work
experience, education level, and competence based standardized entrance exam scores on whether a
job applicant will pass a pre employment polygraph exam. While demand for qualified law
enforcement applicants has increased significantly, the pool of participants qualified for these
positions has diminished (Wilson et al., 2010). In order to address this developing issue, law
enforcement employers need to understand how their hiring procedures affect employment outcomes.
The polygraph is one hiring procedure commonly used in the law enforcement field. While there has
been some research exploring non physiological variable influences on integrity type tests, there is a
lack of research on non physiological variable influences on the polygraph test. As such, the
researcher plans to explore possible influences on pre employment polygraph exams. This study will
contribute to the existing literature on integrity tests, which in turn will provide researchers and
Human Resource policy makers with additional data. These individuals may potentially use this data
to streamline hiring processes for specialized law enforcement, security, and government positions.
This chapter will outline the research design and methodology proposed to be followed. First, the
overall research design will be justified. Next, the independent and dependent variables will be

Jesus The Son Of God Research Paper
Whether or not Jesus was truly the Son of God is a question that theologians and philosophers have
been trying to answer for centuries. One might also ask the question, Was Jesus even a Divine Man?
Interestingly enough, Jesus was not the only man though to be divine in nature. People living in the
Greco Roman world reference ancient sources to highlight their belief that numerous individuals
obtain divine qualities and characteristics. The person of Jesus is one of the most influential characters
in human history and this is why it is so important to investigate whether or not he was who he said he
was. In this paper, I will work to highlight some of these examples of other divine men and leave it up
to you to decide whether or not Jesus was divine himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both the stories of Jesus s birth and Alexander the Great s birth it is said that they had been
conceived through the agency of a God. To begin, let s look at Luke 1: 34 35, How will this be, Mary
asked the angel, since I am a virgin? The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the
power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will become the Son of God.
This is a reference to the virgin birth. Jesus was thought to be born of a virgin and therefore was only
conceived because the Holy Spirit gave her a child. Similarly, in the legend of Alexander the Great s
birth, it is believed that a God had lain with the mother of Alexander in the form of a serpent; which
then gave way to the birth of Alexander the Great. Does this not also make Alexander that Great a Son
of God? These similar stories make it less unique of an idea that Jesus was born by the agency of

since they would not have to answer to Britain anymore, which began in new chapter for this country.

If you were to look on the map of Africa and try to find Uganda, you might have trouble finding it
because it s smaller in size when compared to surrounding countries. Uganda is like a little giant when
matched to some of the other countries surrounding it. Although, the country is small its population is
what makes it big. It was predicted that Uganda s population would reach 47 million by the year 2025
which says a lot for a country its size. Now, if you ever visit a city in Uganda, like the Kampala which
is the capitol, you would see that the streets are congested with people and since the cities are so
congested scores of people are relocating to other countries where the streets are less congested and
jobs are available. The reason people are flocking to the cities is because it increases their chances of

National Cranberry Cooperative Case Study Essay
National Cranberry Cooperative Case Study 1. How might transport vehicles be utilized more
effectively? Should crews be scheduled differently on peak days?  More crews should be scheduled
in the bagging station during peak days  The fourth bagging station should be utilized during peak
hours (instead of just three of the four being used at a given time)  An additional 2,667 bbls per 12
hour period could be processed with these changes At receiving plant no. 1 (RP1), trucks would arrive
randomly throughout the day, with a random amount of berries, anywhere from 20 to 400 bbls. In
order to utilize transport vehicles more effectively, there should be crews scheduled differently on

3 berries should actually be graded No. 2B The installation of a berry grader would positively impact
the cooperative s income, while negatively impacting the farmers income. With the current system,
450,000 bbls. of berries are paid a premium of 50 cents per bbl, yet when the berries are used only
about half of them are actually considered No. 3 s (berries with the best color). So basically, the
cooperative is paying a premium on 225,000 bbls. more than it should be, and that worked out to
about $112,500 in 1970. It would cost the cooperative $10,000 to install a berry grader, plus the cost
of another full time skilled operator, but it would still impact their income greatly. The farmers would
probably prefer that the cooperative continue to grade the color using pictures as a guide, because they
are being paid a 50 cent premium on about half of their No. 3 berries that should actually be
considered No. 2B. Calculations: 450,000 bbls. divided by 50% equals 225,000 bbls. 225,000 bbls. at
50 cent each is equal to $112,500 per year Fixed cost: $10,000 for installation of berry grader 3. What
is the impact of installing one new dryer? Two new dryers?  Each additional dryer will increase the
amount of water harvested berries that can be processed by 200 bbls. per hour for berries loaded to

Analysis Of Arthur Jackson Holmes By Arthur Holmes
If I have set it down it is because that which is clearly known hath less terror than that which is but
hinted at and guessed . page 23 This quote gives an explanation for the mysterious events that place in
the book. Assumptions can be made that many guesses will be made throughout the book . The world
is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. Where do you think I have been?
Holmes addresses Watson by asking a rhetorical question. When he gets back from his club, the
detectives gives some advice. Holmes says that some answers are right in front of you and tries to
build Watson as a detective. Just tell me what it all means,Watson and I ll owe you more than ever I
can hope to pay. When Sir Henry addresses Watson this way , it gives latter the rare opportunity to
play the head detective. Watson s means of attempting to answer questions like this provides a layout
to Holmes s method. I knew that seclusion and solitude were very necessary for my friend in those
hours of intense mental conception during which he weighed every particle of evidence, constructed
alternative theories, balanced one against the other , and made up his mind as to which points were
essential and which immaterials. Watson explains one of Holmes s method. Throughout the book
Watson is always left out of the problem solving. Watson supports Holmes as a detective and
completely defends Holmes and reflects the quality that Holmes makes use of people

George Orwell s Emphasis Of The Two Minutes Hate
The Reason Behind George Orwell s Emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate Many technological
advancements have been made throughout the years, and almost all people have access to some form
of technology. In 1984 this is also true with technological advancements being made to their television
and broadcasting systems. The technological advancements made to these items is the reason for
George Orwell including the Two Minutes Hate in his book. He puts a lot of emphasis on this idea in
the beginning of the book, but this emphasis is not only to show his predictions for technology. The
reason for emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate in 1984 is the timeframe when George Orwell wrote it,
and his commentary on the downsides of technology. The time frame that this book was written fits
the reason as to why he is so vast in describing technology, as the television was just making its
appearance when this book was written (1984). The idea that a television could do all of the things
that it does in this book would have been mind blowing to the population. The fact that technology
like this was new allowed Orwell to make any prediction that he wanted to without being shot down,
because there was no one who would have been able to prove him wrong. The Two Minutes Hate
allowed him to express how he felt about technologies future, while still being able to successfully
show a totalitarian leader. The timeframe this book was written in is a main component as to why
Orwell emphasizes the

Comparing the Theme of Abandonment in Amy Tan s The Joy...
Theme of Abandonment in Kitchen God s Wife and Joy Luck Club
One of the themes included in both The Kitchen God s Wife and The Joy Luck Club is that of
abandonment. In The Kitchen God s Wife, the character of Winnie Louie is abandoned by her mother
when she was a young child. In The Joy Luck Club, Suyuan Woo has to abandon her twin daughters
on the road as she is escaping war torn China.
In The Joy Luck Club, Suyuan Woo is forced to abandon her twin daughters at the side of the road in a
desperate act to give them a chance to live. Throughout her life she is haunted by this memory:

walked down the road, stumbling and crying, thinking only of this last hope, that her daughters would

anything else (Joy 325).
Suyuan Woo eventually stumbles onto a shelter for refugees. She is delirious with madness and
disease, but is slowly nursed back to health. When she returns to the address she left with the twins,
she finds it destroyed by war and realizes the chances of finding her daughters are hopeless. Suyuan
continues to live her life without knowing whether her daughters survived, where they are, or if she
will ever be reunited with them.
InThe Kitchen God s Wife, six year old Winnie is abandoned by her mother under mysterious
circumstances. She is then sent away from her father s prosperous household in Shanghai to live with
her father s brother and his family. Winnie, even sixty years later, still recalls the painful memories of
when her mother abandoned her:
For many years, my mother was the source of funny and bad stories, terrible secrets and romantic
tales....I felt so bad to hear them. And yet I could not stop myself from listening. I wanted to know

Cognitive behavioural therapy, an empirically validated...
Cognitive behavioural therapy, an empirically validated treatment for Major Depressive Disorder
(Robinson, Berman, Neimeyer, 1990) has featured in over 78 research studies, and is the treatment of
choice when treating depression by many clinicians. A meta analaysis completed by Dobson (1989),
reviewed 28 studies featuring cognitive therapy and depression, and found that cognitive therapy was
a more effective treatment modality than behaviour therapy, wait list control, medication, and other
therapies. A further meta analysis conducted by Gloaguen et al., (1998) found that Cognitive
behavioural therapy was equal to behaviour therapy, and more effective than drug treatments when
treating Major Depressive Disorder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As concentration, and therefore thinking becomes more difficult for depressed individuals, a more
simplistic form of therapy, may prove to be more appropriate to not only engage the client, but also
keep their attention long enough to experience positive effects. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a
structured style of therapy requiring direction from the clinician. Studies have found that the skill of
the therapist is directly related to the outcomes of therapy (Strunk et al., 2010). As this style of therapy
involves collaboration, as well as gentle direction by the therapist (Sudak, 2011), an incompetent
therapist can lead to therapy not being tailored to the individual, therefore reducing therapeutic gains.
Studies have found clients reported that at times they have felt under pressure to give particular
answers when receiving CBT, or that therapy was not flexible (Barnes et al., (2013). Therefore a style
of therapy that is flexible in nature, and directed toward areas that the client most wishes to work on
may be more appropriate. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an energy psychology therapy

Personal Philosophy Of School Social Work
I am interested in school social work. My biggest goal is to work and help neglected children. When
volunteering at Bessemer Elementary I got to see a school social worker in action. Making sure the
children weren t being abused, making sure that a child had the necessary needs to grow, and be
successful in, and outside of school. This field has always interesting to me because when I was
younger I had a family social worker. She came to visit my brothers and I after my father passed when
it became hard for my mother to take care of all five of us. Every time she came she had a big smile
on her face, and she gave my mother hope that everything would be okay; which is what I want to
help someone else with.
A School Social Worker is someone that trained to help students, parents, and sometimes staff with
child needs. A school social worker focuses on providing a great outcome for the child, and the family
they are working with. A school social worker can help with mental health which is focusing on a
child who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioral adjustment, behavioral
concerns, making sure the way a child acts or conducts his/ her self especially toward others, positive
behavioral support is a behavior management system used to understand what maintains an individual

Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing
Section 2 Literature review
The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New Zealand
and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face in doing so.
It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers.
2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business
Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is
important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a very
comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is growing and
Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure that high speed
internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New Zealand to have the best
network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet by businesses throughout the
country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are connected with internet. The economic
performances of these firms depend on how well they use it. Apart from the availability of internet, it
is vital to note the way businesses use internet by to improve the way they do business. Most of the
businesses in New Zealand do not use internet to its full potential, as proved from the World Wide
Web Foundation (2012) ranking. New Zealand is ranked 17th in the world for its ability to extract
economic value from

Creating An Education System For Education Systems
Creating an education system that is capable of preparing students for the future, education systems
need to be configured into a new, more knowledge centered way of learning. Deconstructing
established structures and routines in education systems involves several planning and practices
coming together in learning and teaching to better reflect the demands of the 21st century world.
Personalised learning advocates that educational systems must change from the traditional or
industrial age of thinking one size fits all model. Personalised learning is a part of an educational
system that surrounds the student as a learner rather than the student requiring to fit in with the
system. This type of learning can be seen in a 21st century classroom, as the class using digital
technology and using an app called Mathletics which has each students required level of mathematics
which could range from low to high, each student works and learns at their own pace, this is in favour
of the teacher stand in front of the class and teach, as students who don t understand get lost very
quickly. Using personalised learning in the classroom helps the teacher to recognise where each
students level of comprehension is, each student has a personalised set task to complete. Diversity,
equity and inclusion is often referred to as a particular group of learners whom educational success
has been harder to achieve than that of other learners (Bolsted et al, 2012) However a 21st century

Mission 33284 Research Paper
June 3, 1986 an adroit group of astronauts went on Mission 33284: Journey to Mars. They went on
this trip in search of life on Mars, or at least evidence of life on Mars. Five of them set out on this
precarious journey to space.. Not a single one returned home. No bodies were discovered, no calls
were sent back to base, not a single clue was given as to what happened; it was just nothing. A full
investigation was conducted and it was concluded that something happened to the engine and they fell
into oblivion. December 8, 2016, 30 years later, another set of astronauts were chosen to take part in

For a moment the ship stayed just floating in space then it began its steep descent into the deep dark

Kamila, who had bloody nose and left leg was completely shattered, looked around at the now
wrecked ship. The entire back of the craft was flattened the only that was visible was the long trail of
blood trickling down. Kamila slowly crawled to the intercom and dialed 33284 on the intercom.
Nothing happened. She dialed again and again and again and again and once more and another, but...
nothing happened. She sat staring at the blank intercom in complete disbelief then she began to sob.
Now realizing she was stranded in space with no one to help, and little oxygen left she began to sob
harder and harder until she began hyperventilating. While wiping her tears something caught her eye,
there was a piece of a spacecraft outside. But it wasn t a piece of her spacecraft... it was another

call she just made didn t go through not because it was busted but because it wasn t made to go

It brought a tear to my eye to know that those who had departed had indeed found some respite, some

I braced myself from the blizzard forming in my mind. Loki had blinded me with his charm, and I d

Yes, Midgard is being overrun, Loki interjected. We must return to assist in its defense.
Thor turned his attention back to me, and seeing his glee, I hated every moment of it. You came for me

To me, I could still smell Loki on my skin. That of sugar, honey and desire. It now began to mix with

You knew I would? My voice squeaked.
You have always been such a force to reckon with, one of honor and courage. I knew you d make sure
that I, no we, could defend Midgard, and with you being here now, the gate shall open and I can

gave you the benefit of the doubt.
I stomped through the snow behind Thor s long strides.
Sif, listen Loki rubbed my arms up and down and attempted to calm me.
I waited for him to say something, anything, to prove I was wrong.

The Simpsons Modern Family Satire Analysis
Situation comedy has used conventions satire and parody is used to reinforce/challenge ideas and
stereotypes through the mocking of societal issues. In this essay I will discuss about how stereotypes
and common ideas are constructed, and how they are supported or challenged in The Simpsons and
Modern Family through the use of satire, and parody. The first sitcom viewed was The Simpsons (in
class viewing),and is used to explore and support the common idea of consumer capitalism in society
plus the idea of consumer debt through the use of exaggeration and parody. The other sitcom viewed
(home viewing) was the Modern Family episode called Sleeper which constructs and challenges both
parental stereotypes whilst supporting the stereotypical traits of gay couples through the use of
exaggeration and irony.
In the Maple episode of The Simpsons, the main social issues explored are culture, capitalism and
consumer debt. Consumer debt, although only brief, is explored when Lisa attempts to buy MyPhonies
to make herself look cool, however she can t afford them. Satire in the form of exaggeration is used to
explore the idea of making the earphones much more expensive than what they should have been. This

In the Modern Family episode called Sleeper , common stereotypes that are challenged or supported
are homosexual couples, housewives and fatherly figures. The first stereotype, gay couples, is
reinforced in this episode with the use of exaggeration. The gay couple, Cameron and Mitchell, are
constructed in this episode to be feminine and emotional. Although the pair are seen as stereotypical,
Cam is more feminine in this episode, as he is very flamboyant and overreacts more compared to
Mitch who isn t as hot headed and dresses more like a man. Through the use of exaggeration, the
actions of both Cam and Mitch are overstated and help to reflect the modern day stereotype of gay

The Case Roe V. Wade Essay
Since the 1960s, the fight to receive accessible and affordable abortions has been a largely
controversial issue in the United States. The case Roe v. Wade was the climax of that fight, for the
Court held that... only a pregnant woman and her doctor have the legal right to make the decision
about an abortion ( History of Abortion ). Although Roe v. Wade ultimately made abortions legal in
the States, there are still setbacks for affordable and accessible abortions today, and many of these
conflicts may be directly traced to state by state determination of abortion laws.
In today s society, the rate of teen pregnancy is rapidly decreasing. This may be attributed to decrease
in costs of contraception, costs and availability for abortion, and better sex education over time. In
2014, a total of 249,078 babies were born to women aged 15 19 years, for a birth rate of 24.2 per
1,000 women in this age group. This is another historic low for U.S. teens and a drop of 9% from
2013. Birth rates fell 11% for women aged 15 17 years and 7% for women aged 18 19 years ( About
Teen Pregnancy ). Abortion is a highly debated topic today, for many wonder if the woman should
have the right to choose. Those who choose to get an abortion are practically putting themselves on
trial in today s society. To understand why this is so, one must look at both sides of the abortion issue,
and compare the facts. Abortion is an extremely controversial issue for many, and polarized, or split,
into pro life

How Does Society s Ridicule Affect Frankenstein
Both Victor and his creation suffer internally from the ridicule of society. Victor has always been a
family man, and was interested in learning. Eventually, Victor would find himself in a prominent
institute where he becomes obsessed with creating life. To give more insight, Telgen Diane explains
Readers get the distinct feeling that Victor s inquisitive nature causes his emotional and physical peril
because he cannot balance his intellectual and social interactions. For instance, when he leaves home
to attend the University of Ingolstadt, he immerses himself in his experiment and forgets about the
family who lovingly supported him throughout his childhood (Diane 188). His family was very
prominent and were on the top of society. Internally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book they both suffer the same fate dying alone which is a fear Victor and his creature
especially had. Victor always prided himself around his family, and was always the most wretched
when they passed. The creature wanted a mate to bond with no matter how miserable the conditions
were because at least he would have someone to love and die with. Victor failed in doing this, and
suffered the consequences for his failure to comply to the simple needs of his creation. To further
analyze, T.J Madigan explains If Frankenstein can be faulted as indeed he can it is not for hubris, but
rather for the very qualities he mentions above, cowardice and carelessness. For he performs his
operation without telling anyone else, and when his creation comes to life, he rejects it by running
away and hoping the creature will die. This rejection of what he has brought about his failure to share
his findings with the scientific community, or the people around him ultimately leads to tragedy
(Madigan). Victor was too afraid of being ousted by the scientific community if he shared this. If
Victor had done so, he may have been either taken as a joke or an evil doer. Victor may have had help
to control his creature and avoid death all over, but it is because of the ridicule of the society that
stopped him from sharing his

Women s Allowance Of Women
A topic that is becoming more and more prevalent in today s society is the allowance of women into
direct combat roles in our armed forces. Forests densely covered with fog, barren deserts, bomb
cratered fields. Those are just a few of the many different types of scenarios encountered by troops in
direct combat roles on the modern day battlefield. The warrior in today s direct combat roles need to
be decisive, mentally and emotionally stable, very physically fit, and the ability to be able to take an
enemy combatant s life at any moment. Do any of these descriptions accurately match women in today
s military? To allow or disallow women into combat scenarios? Some argue that women s allowance
to fight in direct combat roles is the same as a man s allowance. Women can try to prove that they are
fit to meet the standards to be allowed into direct combat roles, but if they fail it could the unit or
group of other soldiers they are with into danger. Soldiers and civilians both agree, that in certain jobs
in the military, women can function at the same level as men. The biggest argument about having
women fighting with men on the battlefield is there different physical structure, ability to deal with
certain emotional and stress situations, susceptibility to injury, and ability to take someones life. The
last statement might appear to be a stereotype, saying that most women would not be capable of
supporting the rigorous stresses of war like situations. I think

Technological Advancements Brought on by World War II Essay
One of the most recognized technologic advancements in plans during world war one and two waqs
the blitzberg plan. The World War Two era was a time of change. There were many technological
advancements during this time. These advances can be categorized into three categories. They are
weapon advances, vehicle advances, and strategic advances. This technology would change the face of
war forever. The first category, weapon advances, is a very important category. Leading up to the war,
weapons were changing constantly. Weapons of World War One were out of date. They were

The second group of advances is vehicle advances. This category can be broken down into a few sub
categories. They are ground vehicles, ships, and aircraft. This category of technology was one of the
most important influences of the war. First, we will discuss ground vehicle advances. The Jeep was
invented in World War Two. It was used as basic transportation for troops. After the war, the Jeep
became more popular and was then used as a production vehicle for the public. Tanks of World War
One were very primitive and very ineffective. In World War Two, the tank was one of the most
important vehicles used. Leading up to World War Two, tanks were made more powerful, faster,
lighter, and stronger. Tank warfare was very important in World War Two. All countries involved in
the war were producing their own models of tanks. By the end of the war, the Allies had developed a
new kind of tank. It had no big guns on it. It was a troop transportation vehicle that was heavily
armored. Transportation vehicles were very important in the war. Without transportation, there is no
efficient way to move troops. All of these vehicles were very important in the history of war.
The next group of vehicles is the ships. Naval technology was very primitive prior to this time. The
radar was a breakthrough in navigation and enemy detection. However, the radar was new technology,

Impacts of Tourism in Vancouver Essay
Tourism is an endeavour sought by an individual or a party of individuals, which leads to a movement
from one place to another with the idealism of a specific task, to visit a place or several places with the
primary purpose of achieving entertainment and increasing knowledge of countries, cultures, and their
history. The expression largest industry in the world is universally used with mention to tourism,
ensuring its recognition as the largest generator of wealth (over 11.7% of the global gross domestic
product) and employment (7% of the world s jobs); this shows that tourism is indeed an important
industry that depends on culture and legacy.(Budeanu, 2002) Vancouver is feasibly one of the most
prevalent tourist destinations in Canada ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Vancouver the impacts of tourism is shown through cultural issues related to economic growth and
through the analysis of social issues. It is how the city of Vancouver copes with their mistakes and
strives for improvement that the world is able to understand the true importance that tourism can have
on any destinations. Gilbert Keith Chesterton a British journalist, novelist and poet once said, The
traveler sees what he sees, the tourist see what he has come to see , by saying this it is enforced that
tourists come to Vancouver in order to take in the sights of nature that are around every corner and to
delve into the many attractions that Vancouver has established with the sole purpose of attracting
vacationers. With the appeal of vacationers there is an escalation in occupation spots and which will
lead to a lower unemployment rate (Figure 1), although this is a positive aspect of increasing tourist
population the negative effects are bountiful.
The use of natural resources to attract tourists, if successful, leads to the obligation of an infrastructure
upon nature . Over time, it is the manmade structures that maintain the desirability of the tourist resort,
not the natural features that prompted the original.(Ryan, 1991) Thus by focusing too much on
attracting tourists

Borrellia Burgdorferi Case Study
Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Borrellia burgdorferi, and it is the most common vector borne
illness in the United States (CDC, 2014). Lyme disease is transmitted by the blacklegged ticks and
they live on animals like dogs and cats, around stone walls and wood piles. These ticks also live in
wooded and bushy areas with high grass and leaf litter. These ticks hold onto leaves and grasses by
their lower legs, where they get picked up by a passing host and that is one of the ways through which
they make their way to the human body. The mode of transmission is the transfer of the pathogen from
the vector to hosts. It could be person to person through touching, kissing, sex, vector borne through
mosquitoes, ticks or indirect contact with fomites. These ticks are capable of attaching themselves to
any body parts like the armpits, groin and scalp. In this case, the mode of transmission is through an
infected vector known as the tick which attaches to its host for 36 to 48 hours (Amanda, 2016), and
through its bite is able to transmit the bacteria causing disease Borellia burgdorferi. This disease
manifests its signs and symptoms in three different stages. The early signs and ... Show more content

in a number grid when placing a square at any point in the grid, multiplying the top left and bottom
right corners and the top right and bottom left corners and finding the difference. I will look at all the
variables and use systematic methods when doing this.
Suggested Variables:

Essay On Ancient Roman Weapons
Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome Gateway Project
Mike S.
Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome weapons, imagine this: out in the field of war, fighting your fiercest
enemy yet, the Ancient Romans, as the Ancient Egyptians you would fear them, large catapults, strong
bows, and armed chariots.
These are some facts about Ancient Egypt.
Ancient Egypt did not have strong weapons, they had wooden bows, copper swords, and horrible
metalworking, they stole the sickle sword from the hyksos, now you may think that metalworking and
copper swords are the same thing but, when they learned how to make chariots they used iron axles

They created the cannon from the slingshot. They always hit a target, when they shot their huge

The Ancient Romans built a wall over 2000 years ago out of wood, this is one of the oldest structures
in Ancient Rome. They got a huge advantage over other countries with the wall. A tower every 800
meters (0.49709695 Miles) away. This wall is easily burned as it was made of wooden stakes. Ancient
Romans had cavalry (Soldiers who fought on horseback) they wore mail or scale armor.
The similarities:
Ancient Egypt And Ancient Rome both had hand slings this used rocks instead of arrows in them.
They both had very strong armor to wear. They had spears and javelins to throw. They both had war
gods that helped them in the battles that they fought.
The differences:
Different helmet types to cover the head. Different battle crests to show the spirit of the troops. All
people battled differently this allowed them to A. surprise or B. fight not flee.
They also all had different battle cries (Going into war, winning the war, taking down an enemy) all

Why Smoking Is A Public Health Problem
Why this issue is important to you?
Hookah smoking is an issue because it is a socially acceptable way to consume tobacco, especially
among young adult, due to its attractive fruity tastes and odor contrary to regular cigarettes. Hookah
lounges are a preferable place for many people to smoke, socialize, and in some cases to study. In my
opinion the spread of such lounges could increase the number of smokers, not to mention second hand
smoking. This is unfortunate, especially with the huge progress we have made in the fight against
cigarette smoking, while hookah lounges are getting more popular and may weaken our progression in
this matter. The pictures that were taken show how hookah lounges are clearly targeting college
students by opening across the street from main campus, to them this is just business, while to others
this is an important public health concern.
Why it is a public health problem?
Hookah smoking is a public health problem that is growing rapidly nationwide, especially among
young adults and college students.1 Hookah consumers have a perception that it is less harmful than
smoking cigarettes, while evidence show that hookah smoke contains many of the same harmful
toxins as cigarette smoke and has been linked to lung cancer, respiratory illness, low birth weight, and
periodontal disease. A report from the World Health Organization showed that a hookah smoker may
be exposed to a larger dose of smoke in one smoking session when compared to cigarette smoking,

Tragedy And The Common Man
According to Aristotle s theory of tragedy, tragedies are best equipped to be based on a protagonist
that is renowned and prosperous, so his good fortune can be dramatically changed. In contrast, Arthur
Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is as apt a subject for
tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay that the characteristics
and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to be similar. Miller even
identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better tragedy than those who are
highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that the normal life of a sales man can
still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the
central themes related to his essay and play is that the presence of fear in a common man s life is more
prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the character. Willy Loman s fear of not meeting the standards
to the successful people around him, such as his brother and neighbor, and the failure in his job as a
father that correlates with his children s failures is the storyline Miller presents in his play that weights

A Critique Of Ehrlich, David E, And Donald G Rainnie

Neuroscience Behavioral Biology

A critique of Ehrlich, David E, and Donald G Rainnie. Prenatal Stress Alters The Development Of
Socioemotional Behavior And Amygdala Neuron Excitability In Rats .
1.0 Background
The research is discussing the effects of prenatal stress (PS) on the development of socioemotional
symptoms as well as neurodevelopmental disorders. The study arises from existing literatures where a
significant relationship has been established between prenatal stress and social deficits such as autism
and attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder among children and schizophrenia among adolescents.
King et al. identifies exposures to environmental hardships and stressful events as the underlying
factor in the development of PS (274). The aspect has a negative impact on the immune and endocrine
system as well as neurological development (Charil et al. 56). Studies have revealed that PS affects
several aspects of brain development in the fetal stage. It increases rate of cell death and reduces rate
of proliferation in the hypothalamus pituitary axis (Schoenfeld and Gould 15).
The research argues that PS affects the amygdala, a socioemotional control center in the brain that
plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders. The claim is
backed by several studies. PS plays a major role in abnormal psychological, cognitive, and behavioral
outcomes in both human and animals. Charil

Complex Software System Development Projects
In the software industry, it is common place to find large and very complex software system
development projects with the number of individual requirements expected from it running into the
multitude of thousand many times. There are usually more requirements than you can implement in
the allocated stakeholder s time and resources. The software solution that the customer has in mind
and wants to be in place cannot be delivered in a single release. Even if it could be done, it would be a
very costly affair which would eat away a lot of time and pose greater risks due to the nature of the big
bang approach one has to follow to implement it. Further, there will also be restrictions in the form of
capital and time from the stakeholder or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So from this it can be concluded that for any project which has resource restriction, one has to
establish the relative priorities of the requested features, use cases, or functional requirements. This
kind of prioritization helps the software solution provider to plan for staged deliveries, to make the
indispensable trade off decisions and also goes a long way in the resolution of possible conflicts in the
future. In concise, the major factors which lead to prioritization of requirements are: relative
differences in importance, limited project resources, long schedules and budget constraints. If we
manage to implement just those requirements that meet customer and user needs, the software solution
provider reaps the following benefits: The product development time shortens: This is due to the fact
that we have only the major requirements to be implemented now. So, the first release will be ready
for implementation early due to less functionalities involved. The product development cost decreases:
There is a drop in the development cost as we are taking up only the most important requirements and
implementing them. Prioritization: Prioritization means to balance the business benefit of each
requirement against its cost and any implication it might have on the architectural foundation and
future evolution of the project/product. In the road map for product development, only the candidate
requirements are congregated and finally during the release phase only these

We Need a Precise Definition of Terrorism Essays We Need a Precise Definition of Terrorism In early 1974, the Secretary General of the United Nations, U Thant, invited the Palestinian Liberation Organization to attend the General Assembly gathering on November 13, 1974, and in doing so gave legitimacy to the Palestinian Liberation Organization as a governing body. In Yasser Arafat s speech to the General Assembly, he thanked the United Nations for recognizing his organization and its legitimacy. When Arafat addressed the General Assembly, he made the argument that the actions taken by his government were not acts of terrorism, but these were acts of revolution and their purpose was to regain control of Palestine s occupied original territory. The problem we confront is, there is no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arafat points out that this was the beginning of the creation of the illegal state of Israel. When the United Nations General Assembly partitioned off the Palestinian land in 1948, the Palestinian people rejected their planed creation of a Jewish State within their homeland. Even though the Palestinians rejected their decision, the State of Israel was created and recognized as a sovereign nation by the United Nations. Shortly after its creation, Israel began expelling Palestinians and Muslims from their land and from their homes. The Palestinians that were able to remain within the borders of Israel were treated as third class citizens (second class citizens were the Asians and Jews) and had to notify the Israeli Military of all their movements. 1 This is when the people of Palestine began their efforts to retake their land that rightfully belonged to them. Arafat believed the actions taken by the Palestinian Liberation Organization against the Israeli Government and agents of the government were not terrorist actions, but were revolutionary actions. The injustice placed upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli Government justified the Palestinian s the right to struggle. Yasser Arafat made it very clear that his cause/struggle is not with the Jewish people but with the unlawful creation of the Jewish State. Arafat also claimed that his government does not sanction actions taken by separatist groups within the Palestinian Liberation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Influence Of Age, Work Experience, Education Level,... Chapter 3: Methodology The researcher conducted this quantitative research study to explore the influence of age, work experience, education level, and competence based standardized entrance exam scores on whether a job applicant will pass a pre employment polygraph exam. While demand for qualified law enforcement applicants has increased significantly, the pool of participants qualified for these positions has diminished (Wilson et al., 2010). In order to address this developing issue, law enforcement employers need to understand how their hiring procedures affect employment outcomes. The polygraph is one hiring procedure commonly used in the law enforcement field. While there has been some research exploring non physiological variable influences on integrity type tests, there is a lack of research on non physiological variable influences on the polygraph test. As such, the researcher plans to explore possible influences on pre employment polygraph exams. This study will contribute to the existing literature on integrity tests, which in turn will provide researchers and Human Resource policy makers with additional data. These individuals may potentially use this data to streamline hiring processes for specialized law enforcement, security, and government positions. This chapter will outline the research design and methodology proposed to be followed. First, the overall research design will be justified. Next, the independent and dependent variables will be ... • 6. Jesus The Son Of God Research Paper Whether or not Jesus was truly the Son of God is a question that theologians and philosophers have been trying to answer for centuries. One might also ask the question, Was Jesus even a Divine Man? Interestingly enough, Jesus was not the only man though to be divine in nature. People living in the Greco Roman world reference ancient sources to highlight their belief that numerous individuals obtain divine qualities and characteristics. The person of Jesus is one of the most influential characters in human history and this is why it is so important to investigate whether or not he was who he said he was. In this paper, I will work to highlight some of these examples of other divine men and leave it up to you to decide whether or not Jesus was divine himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In both the stories of Jesus s birth and Alexander the Great s birth it is said that they had been conceived through the agency of a God. To begin, let s look at Luke 1: 34 35, How will this be, Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin? The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will become the Son of God. This is a reference to the virgin birth. Jesus was thought to be born of a virgin and therefore was only conceived because the Holy Spirit gave her a child. Similarly, in the legend of Alexander the Great s birth, it is believed that a God had lain with the mother of Alexander in the form of a serpent; which then gave way to the birth of Alexander the Great. Does this not also make Alexander that Great a Son of God? These similar stories make it less unique of an idea that Jesus was born by the agency of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. George Orwell s Emphasis Of The Two Minutes Hate The Reason Behind George Orwell s Emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate Many technological advancements have been made throughout the years, and almost all people have access to some form of technology. In 1984 this is also true with technological advancements being made to their television and broadcasting systems. The technological advancements made to these items is the reason for George Orwell including the Two Minutes Hate in his book. He puts a lot of emphasis on this idea in the beginning of the book, but this emphasis is not only to show his predictions for technology. The reason for emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate in 1984 is the timeframe when George Orwell wrote it, and his commentary on the downsides of technology. The time frame that this book was written fits the reason as to why he is so vast in describing technology, as the television was just making its appearance when this book was written (1984). The idea that a television could do all of the things that it does in this book would have been mind blowing to the population. The fact that technology like this was new allowed Orwell to make any prediction that he wanted to without being shot down, because there was no one who would have been able to prove him wrong. The Two Minutes Hate allowed him to express how he felt about technologies future, while still being able to successfully show a totalitarian leader. The timeframe this book was written in is a main component as to why Orwell emphasizes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As concentration, and therefore thinking becomes more difficult for depressed individuals, a more simplistic form of therapy, may prove to be more appropriate to not only engage the client, but also keep their attention long enough to experience positive effects. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a structured style of therapy requiring direction from the clinician. Studies have found that the skill of the therapist is directly related to the outcomes of therapy (Strunk et al., 2010). As this style of therapy involves collaboration, as well as gentle direction by the therapist (Sudak, 2011), an incompetent therapist can lead to therapy not being tailored to the individual, therefore reducing therapeutic gains. Studies have found clients reported that at times they have felt under pressure to give particular answers when receiving CBT, or that therapy was not flexible (Barnes et al., (2013). Therefore a style of therapy that is flexible in nature, and directed toward areas that the client most wishes to work on may be more appropriate. • 15. Personal Philosophy Of School Social Work I am interested in school social work. My biggest goal is to work and help neglected children. When volunteering at Bessemer Elementary I got to see a school social worker in action. Making sure the children weren t being abused, making sure that a child had the necessary needs to grow, and be successful in, and outside of school. This field has always interesting to me because when I was younger I had a family social worker. She came to visit my brothers and I after my father passed when it became hard for my mother to take care of all five of us. Every time she came she had a big smile on her face, and she gave my mother hope that everything would be okay; which is what I want to help someone else with. A School Social Worker is someone that trained to help students, parents, and sometimes staff with child needs. A school social worker focuses on providing a great outcome for the child, and the family they are working with. A school social worker can help with mental health which is focusing on a child who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioral adjustment, behavioral concerns, making sure the way a child acts or conducts his/ her self especially toward others, positive behavioral support is a behavior management system used to understand what maintains an individual s challenging behavior, academic and classroom support may refer to a wide variety of instructional methods, educational services, or school resources provided to students in the ... Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing Section 2 Literature review The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New Zealand and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face in doing so. It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers. 2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a very comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is growing and Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure that high speed internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New Zealand to have the best network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet by businesses throughout the country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are connected with internet. The economic performances of these firms depend on how well they use it. Apart from the availability of internet, it is vital to note the way businesses use internet by to improve the way they do business. Most of the businesses in New Zealand do not use internet to its full potential, as proved from the World Wide Web Foundation (2012) ranking. • 18. Creating An Education System For Education Systems Creating an education system that is capable of preparing students for the future, education systems need to be configured into a new, more knowledge centered way of learning. Deconstructing established structures and routines in education systems involves several planning and practices coming together in learning and teaching to better reflect the demands of the 21st century world. Personalised learning advocates that educational systems must change from the traditional or industrial age of thinking one size fits all model. Personalised learning is a part of an educational system that surrounds the student as a learner rather than the student requiring to fit in with the system. This type of learning can be seen in a 21st century classroom, as the class using digital technology and using an app called Mathletics which has each students required level of mathematics which could range from low to high, each student works and learns at their own pace, this is in favour of the teacher stand in front of the class and teach, as students who don t understand get lost very quickly. Using personalised learning in the classroom helps the teacher to recognise where each students level of comprehension is, each student has a personalised set task to complete. Diversity, equity and inclusion is often referred to as a particular group of learners whom educational success has been harder to achieve than that of other learners (Bolsted et al, 2012) However a 21st century learning ... They went on this trip in search of life on Mars, or at least evidence of life on Mars. Five of them set out on this precarious journey to space.. Not a single one returned home. Wade ultimately made abortions legal in the States, there are still setbacks for affordable and accessible abortions today, and many of these conflicts may be directly traced to state by state determination of abortion laws. In today s society, the rate of teen pregnancy is rapidly decreasing. This may be attributed to decrease in costs of contraception, costs and availability for abortion, and better sex education over time. In 2014, a total of 249,078 babies were born to women aged 15 19 years, for a birth rate of 24.2 per 1,000 women in this age group. This is another historic low for U.S. teens and a drop of 9% from 2013. Abortion is a highly debated topic today, for many wonder if the woman should have the right to choose. Victor has always been a family man, and was interested in learning. Eventually, Victor would find himself in a prominent institute where he becomes obsessed with creating life. To give more insight, Telgen Diane explains Readers get the distinct feeling that Victor s inquisitive nature causes his emotional and physical peril because he cannot balance his intellectual and social interactions. For instance, when he leaves home to attend the University of Ingolstadt, he immerses himself in his experiment and forgets about the family who lovingly supported him throughout his childhood (Diane 188). Victor always prided himself around his family, and was always the most wretched when they passed. The creature wanted a mate to bond with no matter how miserable the conditions were because at least he would have someone to love and die with. Victor failed in doing this, and suffered the consequences for his failure to comply to the simple needs of his creation. To further analyze, T.J Madigan explains If Frankenstein can be faulted as indeed he can it is not for hubris, but rather for the very qualities he mentions above, cowardice and carelessness. For he performs his operation without telling anyone else, and when his creation comes to life, he rejects it by running away and hoping the creature will die. This rejection of what he has brought about his failure to share his findings with the scientific community, or the people around him ultimately leads to tragedy (Madigan). Victor was too afraid of being ousted by the scientific community if he shared this. If Victor had done so, he may have been either taken as a joke or an evil doer. • 24. Women s Allowance Of Women A topic that is becoming more and more prevalent in today s society is the allowance of women into direct combat roles in our armed forces. Forests densely covered with fog, barren deserts, bomb cratered fields. Those are just a few of the many different types of scenarios encountered by troops in direct combat roles on the modern day battlefield. The warrior in today s direct combat roles need to be decisive, mentally and emotionally stable, very physically fit, and the ability to be able to take an enemy combatant s life at any moment. Do any of these descriptions accurately match women in today s military? To allow or disallow women into combat scenarios? Some argue that women s allowance to fight in direct combat roles is the same as a man s allowance. Women can try to prove that they are fit to meet the standards to be allowed into direct combat roles, but if they fail it could the unit or group of other soldiers they are with into danger. Soldiers and civilians both agree, that in certain jobs in the military, women can function at the same level as men. The biggest argument about having women fighting with men on the battlefield is there different physical structure, ability to deal with certain emotional and stress situations, susceptibility to injury, and ability to take someones life. The last statement might appear to be a stereotype, saying that most women would not be capable of supporting the rigorous stresses of war like situations. I think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is how the city of Vancouver copes with their mistakes and strives for improvement that the world is able to understand the true importance that tourism can have on any destinations. Gilbert Keith Chesterton a British journalist, novelist and poet once said, The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist see what he has come to see , by saying this it is enforced that tourists come to Vancouver in order to take in the sights of nature that are around every corner and to delve into the many attractions that Vancouver has established with the sole purpose of attracting vacationers. With the appeal of vacationers there is an escalation in occupation spots and which will lead to a lower unemployment rate (Figure 1), although this is a positive aspect of increasing tourist population the negative effects are bountiful. The use of natural resources to attract tourists, if successful, leads to the obligation of an infrastructure upon nature . Lyme disease is transmitted by the blacklegged ticks and they live on animals like dogs and cats, around stone walls and wood piles. These ticks also live in wooded and bushy areas with high grass and leaf litter. These ticks hold onto leaves and grasses by their lower legs, where they get picked up by a passing host and that is one of the ways through which they make their way to the human body. The mode of transmission is the transfer of the pathogen from the vector to hosts. It could be person to person through touching, kissing, sex, vector borne through mosquitoes, ticks or indirect contact with fomites. These ticks are capable of attaching themselves to any body parts like the armpits, groin and scalp. In this case, the mode of transmission is through an infected vector known as the tick which attaches to its host for 36 to 48 hours (Amanda, 2016), and through its bite is able to transmit the bacteria causing disease Borellia burgdorferi. Hookah smoking is an issue because it is a socially acceptable way to consume tobacco, especially among young adult, due to its attractive fruity tastes and odor contrary to regular cigarettes. Hookah lounges are a preferable place for many people to smoke, socialize, and in some cases to study. In my opinion the spread of such lounges could increase the number of smokers, not to mention second hand smoking. This is unfortunate, especially with the huge progress we have made in the fight against cigarette smoking, while hookah lounges are getting more popular and may weaken our progression in this matter. The pictures that were taken show how hookah lounges are clearly targeting college students by opening across the street from main campus, to them this is just business, while to others this is an important public health concern. Why it is a public health problem? Hookah smoking is a public health problem that is growing rapidly nationwide, especially among young adults and college students.1 Hookah consumers have a perception that it is less harmful than smoking cigarettes, while evidence show that hookah smoke contains many of the same harmful toxins as cigarette smoke and has been linked to lung cancer, respiratory illness, low birth weight, and periodontal disease. In contrast, Arthur Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay that the characteristics and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to be similar. Miller even identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better tragedy than those who are highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that the normal life of a sales man can still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the central themes related to his essay and play is that the presence of fear in a common man s life is more prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the character. Prenatal Stress Alters The Development Of Socioemotional Behavior And Amygdala Neuron Excitability In Rats . 1.0 Background The research is discussing the effects of prenatal stress (PS) on the development of socioemotional symptoms as well as neurodevelopmental disorders. The study arises from existing literatures where a significant relationship has been established between prenatal stress and social deficits such as autism and attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder among children and schizophrenia among adolescents. King et al. identifies exposures to environmental hardships and stressful events as the underlying factor in the development of PS (274). The aspect has a negative impact on the immune and endocrine system as well as neurological development (Charil et al. 56). Studies have revealed that PS affects several aspects of brain development in the fetal stage. It increases rate of cell death and reduces rate of proliferation in the hypothalamus pituitary axis (Schoenfeld and Gould 15). The research argues that PS affects the amygdala, a socioemotional control center in the brain that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders. The claim is backed by several studies. PS plays a major role in abnormal psychological, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes in both human and animals. Charil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Complex Software System Development Projects In the software industry, it is common place to find large and very complex software system development projects with the number of individual requirements expected from it running into the multitude of thousand many times. There are usually more requirements than you can implement in the allocated stakeholder s time and resources. The software solution that the customer has in mind and wants to be in place cannot be delivered in a single release. Even if it could be done, it would be a very costly affair which would eat away a lot of time and pose greater risks due to the nature of the big bang approach one has to follow to implement it. Further, there will also be restrictions in the form of capital and time from the stakeholder or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So from this it can be concluded that for any project which has resource restriction, one has to establish the relative priorities of the requested features, use cases, or functional requirements. This kind of prioritization helps the software solution provider to plan for staged deliveries, to make the indispensable trade off decisions and also goes a long way in the resolution of possible conflicts in the future. In concise, the major factors which lead to prioritization of requirements are: relative differences in importance, limited project resources, long schedules and budget constraints. If we manage to implement just those requirements that meet customer and user needs, the software solution provider reaps the following benefits: The product development time shortens: This is due to the fact that we have only the major requirements to be implemented now. So, the first release will be ready for implementation early due to less functionalities involved. The product development cost decreases: There is a drop in the development cost as we are taking up only the most important requirements and implementing them. Prioritization: Prioritization means to balance the business benefit of each requirement against its cost and any implication it might have on the architectural foundation and future evolution of the project/product. In the road map for product development, only the candidate requirements are congregated and finally during the release phase only these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
