New York City Identity Card Essay
Beginning this year, New York City began its municipal identity card program, IDNYC. Anyone
14 years or older living in New York City qualifies for the card and its benefits. The initiative was
announced just around a year ago by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Since its launch in January IDNYC
has seen thousands of citizens sign up and use their cards. The initial rollout saw some hiccups
that slowed sign ups at first. Now with issues resolved, the city boasts that it is meeting the
demand of the city. The card attracts New Yorkers from all walks of life due to its diverse
offerings of free one year memberships to 33 of New York s premiere cultural institutions that
include MoMA PS1, the American Museum of Natural History and the Brooklyn Academy of...

The cultural institutions are feeling the benefits as well, with many locations noting a rise in
attendance. It s still early, but the upsurge has been fantastic, cultural affairs commissioner Tom
Finkelpearl told WSJ. For the individuals gaining access to new institutions for the first time, like
37 year old Noel Hidalgo, it s all about planning. He told The Wall Street Journal in the same
article, You get the outdoor memberships during the summer, he said. Then as the weather gets
bad, you get your memberships for the museums and the enclosed facilities. In addition to
providing New Yorkers with increased exposure to the arts, cardholders can benefit in other life
improving ways. New Yorkers in need of banking now have less hurdles in setting up a bank
account with IDNYC in place. A common hurdle for immigrants setting up their own accounts has
been a lack of identification. With IDNYC in place, this problem will hopefully see significant
declines in the coming years. Additionally, those needing prescription drug help now have access to
discounts at 95 percent of pharmacies in the

Socio Demographic Profile And Nutritional Status Of...
Branch of study : SOCIAL SCIENCE Title : SOCIO DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE AND
NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF HEARING IMPAIRED (DEAF) ADOLESCENTS Abstract
Health status of a population is a significant indicator of human development. Like mortality,
disability being a potential measure of health status of population has not received much attention in
research particularly in the developing countries. Hearing impairment refers to both complete and
partial loss of the ability to hear and research in the area of the health and nutritional status of
such a population remains largely unexplored in India. A school for the hearing impaired
adolescent boys girls in the age group of 10 19 years was chosen as the site for the
study.101hearing impaired subjects who were in the age group10 19 years were enrolled for the
study. A pre tested questionnaire was filled by the researcher in coordination with a sign language
interpreter to elicit background information and socio demographic status. For anthropometric
measurements their heights and weights were taken. For hemoglobin estimations,5ml sample of
venous blood was obtained from each subject for laboratory analysis. The subjects who were deaf
by birth were 84.2% and the rest were due to accident. Stunting was more in the early adolescents
in case of boys but in girls it was higher in mid adolescents. The girls who were undernourished was
57.14% among them severe under nutrition was seen in the mid

The Salon Became A Better Business Bureau ( Bbb )
David Gerard Salon opened its Goodyear, AZ location on January 4, 2010, which they market as
a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon. The salon became a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited
business on April 29, 201, and currently has an A+ rating. In December of 2014, the salon opened
a second location in Avondale, AZ, which they market as an Aveda Salon and Gentlemen s Parlor.
In 2015, this site became a BBB accredited business and like their Goodyear location has an A+
rating. The distance between these two locations is 5.9 miles; thus, it would appear both salons
compete against one another for their share of the target audience.
Target Audience A review of the demographics for Goodyear, AZ reveals the town has a
population of 65,275 (2015) of which 34,651 are women. The demographics also indicate women
between the ages of 25 to 44 represent the majority of the female population (Suburban Stats,
2016). The demographics for Avondale, AZ indicate a population of 76,238 (2015) of which
38,394 are women. Like Glendale, women between the ages of 25 to 44 account for the majority of
the female population. However, when considering the Avondale location markets itself as an
Aveda Salon and Gentlemen s Parlor an examination of the male demographics must be measured.
The total male population sits at 37,844 (2015) of which those aged 25 to 49 represent the majority
of the male population (Suburban Stats, 2016). Fortunately, these demographics paint a bright
picture because females aged

The Appeal And Spread Of Radical Islam
The appeal and spread of radical Islam within the United States is becoming a serious national
security risk. In the past radical Islamic groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda placed cells in the United
States for the purpose of taking down the American establishment through domestic terrorism. In
order to counter and even stop this phenomenon, it is essential that law enforcing and the
intelligence community understand what makes Radical Islamso appealing. Moreover, Once
Officials figure out the appeal of radical Islam, only then can an effective strategy to combat
radical Islam be made and implemented. Current methods for abolishing radical Islam are not
working if anything it has made the situation worse. Therefore, a new strategy is... Show more

Furthermore, many radical Islamic groups believe that man made laws are shirk and they are
not too be bound by them (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). Moreover, the only laws that have a
sense of legitimacy in the eyes of radical Islamist is Sharia law (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006).
Which is believed to be law directly passed down from Allah. In addition, radical groups such as
Al Muhajiroun believe that all actions, decisions and deeds are an act of praise and worship as
long as it follows sharia. Conversely, any deviation from the fundamentalist teachings of Islam
is considered sin against God (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). Therefore, according to radical
Islamist those who do not follow the strict interpretations of Islam are doomed to burn in the
fiery pits of hell, while those of follow such teaching will see paradise (Quintan Wiktorowicz,
2006). Radical Islamist groups use this basic principle to keep their members in check. It is also
important to note that each Radical Islamist group believes only it can offer its members the
True path to salvations and all other groups are false (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). This ideology
is based upon a passage in the Hadiths that states And this Ummah will divide into 73 sects all of

Compare And Contrast American And French Colonization
In the early days of developing countries, each major empire had their own unique way to
colonize the land. Each empire had good qualities and bad, and each experienced pitfalls. The
leading empires in this time period was the Spaniards, the Dutch, the British, and the French. Each
varying technique of colonizing land helped each of these empires control most of the western
hemisphere. While there was several similarities, there was also many differences in the way each
empire conquered land. Regardless, they dominated this era from every part of the globe.
The Spanish expansion process lasted between the years 1492 to 1898. Spain designated men called
conquistadors to go out and look for, explore, and conquest land. Their main reasoning for obtaining
more land was to spread Christianity and trading purposes. A famous man... Show more content on

North America, the Caribbean Islands, and South America were just a few of the areas in which the
French founded colonies. Like the Spaniards, the French began to occupy large amounts of the
western hemisphere. The French begun colonizing the new world for money and access to the
Pacific Ocean, but as they colonized more land they started using the colonies to export fish, furs,
and sugars. (French Colonization of the Americas). Though the French did try to colonize the
Americas, they were very unsuccessful simply because they were not acclimated to the climate
and were made very sick by the exposure to different diseases. Not only this, but the French had to
constantly battle attacks from the Indians attempting to push the French off their land. They also
had to deal with attacks from the Spaniards trying to take over the land the French were already
trying to colonize. Ultimately, most of the French colonies were short lived due to the disease and
loss of land to the other empires. (French Colonization of the

Process Analysis Reflection
Teachers in high school were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what
they thought was good writing. Little did I know everyone s writing style is good in its own way.
This academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all
writing styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles
and analyzing the writingprocess and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an
extraordinary process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I
saw where my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain
ways I can write more efficiently in my process... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What helped me analyze this was Carol Berkenkotter and Donald Murray s analysis of the writing
process. Donald Murray was analyzed for two months in his everyday life and they analyzed how
the environment he was in when writing affected his writing outcomes. The importance of the
audience when editing was highlighted in one of the final paragraphs and I did not realize the
importance of the audience really until I looked back and thought about my writing. Even going
back to junior high writing, your audience was the teacher, and your goal was to write to the
teacher s specifications. Writing is more than just sitting down and writing a dull essay. Even if it is
not the first thought in your head you still have to know your affordances, constraints, and
audience in order to write effectively and edit to the best of your ability. Going into this course I
was afraid my writing style would not be good enough, or up to par with the writing style of a
professor for a college writing class. The first paper I composed this semester was a rhetorical
analysis paper in which I analyzed the rhetor, the audience, the exigence, affordances, and
constraints. If you would have asked me what most of those terms meant last year at this time I
would have given you a blank stare. After reading the articles from Keith Grant Davie, Christina
Haas and Linda Flower, and Laura Carroll, my eyes were opened to what rhetorical

Ancient Mesopotamia And Ancient Civilizations
Throughout many cultures in ancient civilizations, humans have held a belief in superior beings to
which they called gods. The gods, in the eyes of many of the ancient people, were responsible for
many things such as crop growth, storms, fertility, and even creation of life. The Mesopotamians,
Egyptians, and the Hebrews all had gods that they interacted with. Understanding the likenesses and
differences in how these people interacted with their gods might give us an insight to how similar
or different the three civilizations were.
In ancient Mesopotamia, humans had many gods. According to their beliefs, there was a war
between the old gods and the new gods. They were created by the storm god Marduk when he
defeated the god Tiamat s champion Quingu. From Quingu s remains. Marduk created man and
they were to be co laborers with the gods to hold off the forces of chaos in order to keep the
communities running smoothly. The humans provided the gods with everything they needed
from food to sacrifices and taking care of the temples which were the god s homes on earth. In
return the gods took care of the humans in every aspect of their lives such as continued health or a
good harvest. It was the god Enlil who legitimized the rule of kings. This is what gave a particular
person the right to impose their rule over all others. The person who rules is the one who has direct
communication with the god of their city. Even though there is communication with the gods, this

Analysis Of The Mazurkas
This mazurka is in D major and comes from a set of four mazurkas composed by Chopin in 1838. It
has the tempo marking Vivace, which suggests a lighthearted and energetic rendition of the music.
The accent is consistently on the third beat to create the typical mazurka dance effect, and it adds
interest and character to the playing. All the mazurkas composed by Chopin have the characteristic
of the traditional Polish dance and evoke the feeling of nationalism because of Chopin s strong
identification with his homeland. These short compositions are interesting in nature and have the
strong tendency to reveal deep feelings and pathos in the listeners even if they are very condensed.
The piece starts with an accent on the third beat. The left hand has a staccato note on the first strong
beat and an accent on the last third beat. It is arguable whether such a pattern applies to the right
hand as well, but most likely it does, since the right hand also has the accompanying layer added
specifically to the second and third beats. It should be noted that although Chopin provided the
usual pedal marking which changes once per measure, it is still better to execute the staccato as if
there is no pedal held down to produce a sonic effect that is different than otherwise.
The overall structure is a simple ternary form with the middle section divided into two repeating
parts and a short coda that leads to the end. It should be noted that despite the fact that there are a
lot of changes

The Invention Of The Technology
Introduction Brief introduction into the topic In evolutionary terms, advancements in technology
are the utmost fundamental events to have occurred in human history. Rapid growths in technology
are extremely beneficial to our species. These growths include, however, not limited to: the
invention of fire, invention of electricity, invention of cars and planes, and the invention of inter
networking (The Internet). The intention of the simplifying of life lead dramatically reduced the
stress on human life. It enhanced life. The invention of fire opened up gateways to cooking, lighting
and creation. The invention of electricity introduced the invention of the light bulb and batteries.
The invention of cars and planes made traveling easier. Finally, the invention of the internet made
retrieving information more accessible. All these inventions had one common intention. To make
life easier, and it succeeded. Furthermore, exponential growth is expected from the growth and
development of this technology. However, batteries, technology based on an outdated principle that
hasn t seen exponential growth yet. In fact, batteries are limiting the progression of society more
than the average person suspects. According to Moore s law which states that computational
intricacy should grow exponentially every two years, batteries fall behind. Battery technology is
estimated to increase by 7% each year (Rabaey, 2009). In the book, Low Power Design Essentials,
it is made evident that battery

Essay on Making a Biogas Digestor for Ugandan Farmers
Introduction
For this project I am doing biogas, most farmers in Uganda don t make use of the animal waste to
generate energy for their household use. Having a biogas digester would give farmers power
which they can use for lighting and cooking. The digester produces bio slurry which serves as
organic manure for their crops. Therefore biogas would be the most efficient and accessible form of
energy in the rural areas which constitute 80% of the population of Uganda since the animal waste
is available to them at no financial cost.
Defining the Problem
The population of Uganda is 35,918,915, eighty percent of Ugandans are farmers (CIA World Fact
book).Only 25 percent of Ugandans have access to the power grid, the remaining 75 percent have to

Having electricity in rural areas can also bring business opportunities to rural areas. Education and
health in the rural areas will be improved. This will result in economic development and income
generation for women. Rural electrification also improves the technological view of the people
because they will be able to learn new techniques on computers which will improve their
intelligence.
Solution
An ambitious target is needed by the government of Uganda to provide accessible, cheap and
clean energy to the 75% of the population. The government of Uganda through the Ministry of
Energy should subsidize the cost of the bio digester unit. From records, the GDP per capita for
Uganda is 1,500 Dollars therefore it is one of the poorest countries in the world (CIA World Fact
book). It is therefore very difficult if not impossible for a household to be able to afford a bio
digester because a unit cost between 700 and 1000 United States Dollars (Kafayat Adeyemi).
There should be programmes on the importance of bio digester to the farmers (savings, clean
cooking, health benefits, green or sustainable environment etc.). This will give the farmers a sense
of responsibility and involvement in the whole process. Donor funding should also be pursued.
The farmers in rural areas should invest in biogas digesters, a biogas digester would be useful
because it needs raw materials which are available to the farmers at any time.

How Technology Can Benefit A Child s Cognitive Development
Children use a lot of technology. They use technology whether they are using social media, using a
learning program, or reading an electronic book. The truth is, that there are more positives than
negatives when children use technology. There is fear that if children use too much technology
they will not have proper development especially cognitively. This paper will show how technology
can benefit a child s cognitive development.
One benefit is young children can learn how to read while using a device whether it is a computer,
tablet, or cellphone instead of reading a regular book. On these devices, there are applications
where the parent can download age appropriate books. Also, some of the books may be read
along, or read out loud to them. Linda Cooper, associate professor at Pratt University says, This
way children can learn how pronounce words and learn how to read at their own pace (2005).
This is a great way to teach a child learn how to read. Some of these programs have a voice that
will help a child understand and pronounce words. If the device has internet connection, a child
can Google a word that they do not understand and learn the definition. However, there are a
couple issues like children having a difficult time reading a regular book. They may not be able to
read a regular book after learning how to read on a screen. Reading on a device starts helping
children to build blocks on how to use video games and watch television. Children who read on
devices are

Character Analysis Of Loki
Loki is the embodiment of, Of course it was Loki. It s always Loki. Loki is unquestionably the
biggest question mark within Norse mythology. He is portrayed as a scheming, mischievous deity
who has no real loyalties, his role is shrouded in mystery; what was his purpose in the ancient
stories. Lokis character arises questions about his role; was he a plot device, a foil for the Aesir,
or maybe he was meant to be used as a warning to child? Within the pantheon of Norse gods, he
was an anomaly; his fellow gods are mostly one dimensional and Loki is anything but. Loki is the
antithesis to the culture the Norse gods represented; honor, courage, fidelity, truth, discipline,

the builder story) Loki s relationship with the other gods is what obscures Loki s motives. Loki
is in a position to help both the gods and the giants, depending on which course of action is most
pleasurable and advantageous to him at the time. Loki consistently takes great pleasure in fooling
or insulting the Aesir, he is not shown as an outright evil god, mainly because his intentions are
concealed by his position among the gods. Even his most malevolent moments can be seen as
him slashing back at his tormentors, such as Baldur s death, he was motivated by jealousy and
hatred due to being figuratively shackled by the gods. However, during Ragnarok when the gods

the side of the giants. According the book, he even captains the ship Naglfar, Nail Ship, which
brings many of the giants to their battle with the gods. (Pg # Ragnarok) What s interesting is the

Introduction
The Old Testament was written over a wide historical period, it describes the relationship of God
and the people of Israel before the coming of Jesus. To make it easy to explain the history in the
Old Testament, I have seen it best to look at it under the following periods: 1. Primeval History

The southern kingdom of Judah, essentially the tribes of Judah and Benjamin that remained loyal to
Rehoboam, maintained its capital in Jerusalem and enjoyed three and a half centuries of Davidic
kings upon the throne. 8. Fall of Israel (Samaria) (722 BC)
The text of 2 Kings 17 tells of the reason why Israel fell as the Lord removed them from His sight
(2 Kings 17:18). First, they fell because they imitated the evil of those around them (vss. 7 8).
Second, they fell because they practiced idolatry (vss. 9 12). Third, they fell because they
rebelled against God (vss. 13 16). Forth, they fell because they sacrificed their children (vss. 17
18). Samaria fell to the Syrians during the reign of King Hoshea.
9. Fall of Judah (Jerusalem) (578BC)
Despite the strong remonstrance of Jeremiah and others, Zedekiah revolted against
Nebuchadnezzar, ceasing to pay tribute to him and entered into an alliance with Pharaoh Hophra
of Egypt. In 589 BCE, Nebuchadnezzar II returned to Judah and again besieged Jerusalem. During
this period, many Jews fled to surrounding Moab, Ammon, Edom and other countries to seek
refuge. The city fell after an eighteen month siege and Nebuchadnezzar again pillaged both
Jerusalem and the Temple, after which he destroyed them both. After killing all of Zedekiah s sons,
Nebuchadnezzar took Zedekiah to Babylon, putting an end to the independent Kingdom of Judah.

Abstract:
As a result of technological advancements, modern businesses seek new and improved methods of
conducting their business processes. Systems have been designed to augment and manage core
business functions such as production, accounting, procurement, and human resources. However,
even with these systems in place, information is unreliable and inconsistent if they are on disparate
platforms. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software tackles this problem by integrating
business processes into a centralized system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the information that was used to compose this paper was taken from prior ERP articles,
online reference tools, and ERP books.
What is an ERP System?
An ERP system integrates an organization s data and services in a single system. ERP systems
combine computer hardware and software during the process of integration. One thing most ERP
systems have in common is the use of a single database that is used to store information for
different system components. To obtain an ERP status, a given software package must successfully
function as at least two systems. For example, a software package can hypothetically be considered
an ERP system if it can execute human resources and financial functions.
Even though this will accomplish the function of an ERP system, ERP applications typically
support much larger business platforms (Wikipedia, 2007).
ERP, in its entirety, provides a single database that stores all the data for its individual modules.
Some of the modules an ERP system supports include, but is not limited to:
Manufacturing
Supply Chain Management
Financials
Projects
Human Resources
Customer Relationship Management
Data Warehouse
Table 1.1 summarizes the various modules that an ERP application supports and the business
functions that are carried out within each module.

Trash Pollution In Guatemala
RoatГЎn Island off the edge of Guatemala has recently discovered a five mile long pile of trash.
The heavy rains from the hurricanes this past fall is where this trash has come from. Guatemala s
government doesn t have a formal garbage collection. RoatГЎn Island is located about fifteen miles
off the edge of Guatemala. Trash pollutionis becoming worse and worse in the Caribbean. Trash in
ocean is harming more than 600 species worldwide. From what we can tell from the photos of the
trash in RoatГЎn that the trash is anything from plastic bags to leather. Guatemalan people aren t
disposing of their trash correctly; all they do is juts pile their trash up on the side of the riverbanks
and when the rain comes and washes it into the water and then ends up in the ocean. The
government has got to get a fund/organization to get this problem taken care of.

Baroque Art And The Baroque Era
Baroque Ornamentation
The use of ornamentation in Baroque music was a creative, and sometimes improvised outlet for
period musicians that spurred from human instinct to manipulate melodic material. This urge to
change melodic material by altering the rhythm, or melody can be seen throughout history. Music
including Gregorian chant, which predates the Baroque era, contains some elements of
ornamentation. It can be seen throughout the Baroque, Classical era, and even in modern music.
Although improvisation has been repressed by modern conventions of performance, it shows itself
in the style of improvised jazz and avant garde free improvisation. Performers use improvisation as
a means of self expression and a way to express composer intent. During the Baroque era, there were
many different styles and methods of ornamentation depending on location, style, date, and
composer of a piece of music. Understanding the historical developments of the Baroque era and the
development of ornamentation can help modern performers of Baroque music better understand
how to play a more historically accurate performance. The Baroque era lasted from about 1600 to
1750. The music from the Baroque began to develop contrapuntally and in harmonic complexity.
Composers also relied on the performers ability to add ornamentation and to complete the
harmonies in a basso continue score through improvisation. These scores consisted of a bass line

The third theory is underdevelopment theory. This theory have explain three types of country
which is core, semi periphery and periphery country. Immanuel Wallerstein also classificies the
positions of country, which is based on the developed and developing countries according to their
economics in the global level. This theory is about the capitalist world economy that means the
people or the rich country who have the control of economy in certain places or a country (Sorinel,
2010). This level can be divided into core (rich country), semi periphery (developing country) and
periphery (poor country) (Sorinel, 2010). This theory show that how the capitalist or rich country
manage the economy of the semi periphery and the periphery country. This types have their own
function in this theory. For the core country, the people transform raw materials into consumers
goods with the use of modern technology and large amount of capital. Core country can be called
as production or economic center (Wallerstein, 1974). In semi periphery country or developing
country, this country is like buffer zone between the core and pheriphery country. This country
being exploited by the core while the country also exploit the periphery country (Sorinel, 2010). For
periphery country, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

but also to the semi periphery country and periphery country. This exploitation that happen in others

Response Essay to Islam in the Crusades
Bart Brown

The Book of Contemplation / Islam and the Crusades From reading The Book of Contemplation I
feel that the Franks are Inferior to the Muslims, in the eyes of Usama Ibn Munqidh. Throughout the
literature when Usama refers to the Franks, a may God curse them usually follows. Usama rarely
sheds a positive light on the Franks beliefs, actions, or practice of medicine. The first instance of
Usama referencing the Franks was in the story In the service of Nur Al Din (Munqidh 43). In the
story Usamas family and possessions were being transported from Egypt to come to be with him.
For the journey they were granted safe passage from the King of the Franks. Upon arriving to Acre,

Upon arriving they saw the entire army of Antioch rush against the Franks, so they hurried to
seize the advantage over them before the battle finished. One of the horsemen with Usama,
Mahmud, had fallen and when Usama s group turned back to get him another had fallen and put
in a choke hold by a Frankish knight, a few more spear thrusts were able to free him (Munqidh
68). In the story Jum a Accused of Cowardice a few Frankish soldiers came upon a man grazing
his animal (Munqidh 71). The Franks captured the man and his beast, afterwards Usama and his
Uncle had 20 men ride off to rescue the man, shortly after the men turned back because they
carried no spears. Jum a rode off alone in pursuit and attacked the horsemen, chasing them back to
their tents. The lord of Antioch had watched what happened and sent his men to disarm the two
soldiers, after which the lord of Antioch had chastised his men saying One Muslim horseman
chases away two Frankish Knights! You aren t men you re women! In the story The Status of the
Knight among the Franks Usama plainly states a few of his criticizing views of the Franks. The
first sentence of the story says, The Franks (may God confound them) have none of the human
virtues except for courage (Munqidh 76). They have neither precedence nor high rank except that of
the knights it is they who are the masters of legal reasoning, judgment and sentencing (Munqidh
76). In the story he relates a story about

Why Is Kobe Bryant Important
Kobe Bryant is undeniably one of the most dedicated, successful, and greatest basketball players to
ever grace the NBA hardwood. He has achieved what many players only dream of doing, and his
list of accolades could fill an entire book. This success did not come easy for Bryant, like I said
before, his hard work and dedication to the sport of basketballis what made him a legend, that is
looked up to by millions of people around the world.
Kobe admits that the success he has gained has come with many sacrifices. Thousands of hours
were spent practicing dribbling, shooting, and playing defense so he could become a great player
in the league like his father was. Refusing to play in his father s shadow, it is without a doubt that

Qin Shi Huangdi, The First Qin Essay
Qin Shi Huangdi, the first Qin emperor, was an ambitious emperor who implemented a central
bureaucratic system that oversaw the evolution and unification of China at the cost of public
sentiment. The Qin Dynasty is considered to be among the most influential dynasties as it laid the
foundation for the massive cultural and economic development of Chinathat took place during the
Han Dynasty, but it also failed to achieve many of its pro commoner ideological goals. In fact,
socioeconomic disparity was not alleviated and despite the notion of enriching the lives of the
common people, it was under Qin rule in which public resentment of the authoritarian government
peaked as there were countless peasant revolts against the iron handed bureaucratic rule of the Qin.
Because a paranoid emperor alone wielded political clout and influence, the tumultuous few years
of Qin reign was rife with paranoia and suspicion among the masses. Although the Qin Dynasty is
seldom thought to possess the same glaring discrepancy between ideology and state that the
Communist regime in post World War II China had, the failure of the flawless egalitarian state
models in socioeconomic and political aspects during the Qin Dynasty mirrored the developments
in early Communist China. Among the key aspects of the Qin unification was the act of completely
clearing all local aristocracies and uniting the peasant class into a single, mobilized workforce.
Ideally, the Qin bureaucracy sought to empower the

Zeitoun Chapter Summary
Who is the speaker? In February of that year while passing out tests the teacher had pulled back
the girl s hijab and said, I hope God punishes you. No, I m sorry, I hope Allah punishes you. (Eggers

The passage establishes the writers credibility because he deeply writes about how the issue
caused attention and its affiliation concerning Muslims to real world issues like the war on terror.
The harassment of Muslims was at its peak mostly after the 9/11 tragedy. Kathy, Zeitoun s wife
experiences this when a couple of kids try to take off her hijab resulting in cursing at them in the
most crucial way. Egger writes about the background life of Kathy and how she decides to convert
to Muslim in whom she feels more comfortable and appreciates their ways. Despite her efforts to
change religion, she s brought down by society because of her belief displayed when a priest
invites her to a Christian mass only to mock her in front of the whole crowd for not believing in
Jesus. Zeitoun had long feared this day would come. Each of the few times he had been pulled

Book Analysis Of Nomi Nickel
Style
Upon reading the first page, I knew this would be an enjoyable read. Not only is Nomi s family
entertaining because of their quirky ways but Miriam Toews sarcastic sense of humor thrown
into Nomi s everyday activities keeps the tone of the book light even when Nomi goes through
trialing times. The book is written in the first person narrative, told from the perspective of Nomi
Nickel and read similar to a memoir. The story starts off smack dab in the middle of Nomi s
present day teenage life and quickly moves into her childhood which is done to show why she is
the way she is. Ultimately, this is effective because it helps me to step inside the main characters

Reaction
I do not like The Mouth and find him creepy. The reason being is mostly because of the tight
hold he has over the town through the bizarre purge he started when he became the pastor.
Although after learning his backstory, it all made sense, and I began to feel sorry for him. The
Mouth changed from an ordinary guy finding his way in the world to an extreme religious leader.
It seems he uses his religion to protect himself because of what happened in his past when he went
out into the world to explore. Moreover, outside of the Mennonite faith, everything was too free,
and he couldn t handle the pressure of it as he s more comfortable in the boundaries of his
religion where no one can judge him. Travis does not seem to be competent boyfriend material. He
shows little respect for Nomi by leaving her out in the rain, and through his constant quest to change
her. Nomi expresses questioning thoughts when she often feels pressured to talk and carry
intelligent conversations to satisfy him. It disheartens me to think that she stays with him; I believe
boredom and low self esteem cause this. I think the type of people that follow this religion are born

Overview of Intellectual Property
The term intellectual property refers to the innovations of the human mind. Intellectual property
rights protect the interests of these innovators by giving them property rights attached to those
ideas. The term intellectual property rights stands for these legal rights that authors, inventors, and
other creators have. Intellectual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Views on intellectual property vary from the belief that that intellectual property should be
protected, to the view that ideas should be completely unrestricted and free to use. Thomas
Jefferson believed that ideas had the right to be shared, saying:
If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the
action of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long
as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of
everyone, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it. Its peculiar character, too, is that no
one possesses the less, because every other possesses the whole of it. He who receives an idea from
me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine,
receives light without darkening me. That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the
globe, for the moral and mutual instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to
have been peculiarly and benevolently designed by nature, when she made them, like fire,
expansible over all space, without lessening their density in any point, and like the air in which we
breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation.

Domestic Terrorism In America
Terrorism has had a profound affect on the world, as it has inspired fear and despair in the hearts
of millions of people. Specifically in the United States, where in certain circumstances U.S. citizens
will carry out acts of terror to further their own cause. Domestic terrorism has taken roots in many
aspects of society through certain ideological groups, radicalization through media, and by acts of
terror that cause immense civil unrest. The perpetrators of terrorismhave changed over time.
Domestic terrorism has its roots in the United Statesgoing back to the Colonial Era, where some

Terrorism. In 2015 alone, 52 people were killed by domestic terrorism; the most killed by such
terrorism in a decade (Berman, 2016). This leaves the United States of America no true face to
fight, making it extremely difficult to find the perpetrators of terror. Fighting this form of
terrorism is so challenging that the U.S. Justice Department is considering legal changes to
combat what it sees as a rising threat from domestic anti government extremists, (Harte, 2016).
Over the past two years, 42 people have been charged with plotting attacks on America in the
name of the Islamic state or anti government fervor. All of these individuals will not face a life
sentence, and will be let free in a couple of decades (Harte, 2016). With the little reform that
happens in prison, these people will one day be out of prison, most likely with the same radical
passion. Efforts are being made to make deradicalization facilities rather than let the convicted 42

turned towards targeting the communities where they begin. Many

Hurdle And Gerrit Cole In Major League Baseball

League (AL) Toronto Blue Jays. Gerrit Cole is pitching for the hometown Pirates and is having
an exceptional game, allowing only one unearned run. The Jays lead 1 0 and Gerrit Cole is up

What it comes down to is the difference between the need to do something and the option to do
something. None other than Bill James, a widely known baseball writer, noted that the perceived
strategy is actually very trite, predictable, and actually nonstrategic. Instead of manager s deciding
on what substitution, or lack thereof, can give their team an advantage, they are forced with
situations in which they must bunt, must pinch hit, and must double switch. As James notes, the
American League game allows a true option, and thus true strategy. This means that whatever AL
managers decide to do when it comes to offensive batting substitutions, they do so to benefit
their team, not because they are forced to do so (Meehan, 2013). These substitutions, including
the commonly used double switch where a pinch hitter is substituted for the pitcher and the next
inning is substituted again for a relief pitcher, take up time in the game. It is significantly a
problem in the MLB where the longevity and the slow pace of the game has caused many fans
to get bored sitting through a full nine innings. Especially with the addition of instant replay, the
game continues to get longer and it has become a challenge for many fans to watch an entire
game. Brian Costa, sports reporter for the Wall Street Journal, wrote an article about the reasons
for the length and slow pace of the game. He mentions that it has become normal for fans to
complain about hitters stepping out of the batter s box, pitchers pacing around the mound and
pitching changes. Red Sox Chief Operating Officer Sam Kennedy even states that this problem is
one of the most critical issues facing baseball as we move forward into the next three, five, seven
years (Costa, 2014). Joe Sheehan also wrote an article about the increasing

Human nature is more complex than black and white. When it comes to individuals, good and
evil are fluid. People are a combination of both good and bad qualities. People can be
rehabilitated from cruel behavior. People can eventually recover, displaying positive
characteristics, such as empathy and kindness. Rather than being innate, cruel behaviors are
mainly due to environmental factors, such as an abusive childhood, or social learning , from a

He took notes during his time at Liberty and wrote the book The Unlikely Disciple from his own

Reasons for World War I
World War 1 Essay rewrite There has been many wars since the dawn of man however very few
of these wars are as horrific and bloodcurdling as the war in which we call World War 1. The
event that started this war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, who was killed by a group
called the Black Hand, who was supported by Serbia. This caused countries to take sides and
alliance s to form. Before this war people saw honor in fighting, however the soldiers who
returned had a different story to tell. The three core things that played a major part in this war
would have to be militarism and the countries that were forced to choose sides and form alliances,
imperialism.
Militarism played a significant part of the war especially in the German empire as well as a few
other countries. For example the German empire taught there kids combat strategies and officer
training from the time when they could read and write. The year before the year of the war began
the German empire and France nearly doubled their armies in size knowing that tensions were
growing high and war was soon to follow. Germany s advanced in industrialization made them a
really tough opponent, especially for the less developed countries such as Russia. The German
empire also had the most railroads in their country enabling them to easily transport weapons,
materials, and people across their country with ease. During the war the German empire, probably

Seeing Voices is a profound novel that was written by famous neurologist, Oliver Sacks in 1989.
Seeing Voices is a book that delves into the history of Sign Language and expresses a genuine
meaning behind what language truly is. Oliver Sacks is an engaging and fascinating writer. Being
able to explore outside what he is used to, he can expand his knowledge about language. Being
knowledgeable on psychiatry can help him get a better understanding of cognitive ability in the

The language of the Deaf is usually consistent with the environment the language is being spoken
in. For example, the signs that one can encounter in British Sign Language can be different than
signs that are seen in American Sign Language. Although Sign Language itself is very universal,
the specific patterns and methods of speaking that are associated with each kind of Deaf
Community can be drastically different.
Sacks himself was not deaf, but it was an exciting experience for him to dive into a community
he was not familiar with. The second part of the book, Sacks goes into detail about the
importance of Sign Language itself and discusses the situation in which he meets a young Deaf
boy named Joseph. When reading this book, I completely understood and agreed with Sacks
when he stated that deaf children must learn a language at a young age to be successful. With that
being said, Oliver Saks researched American Sign Language, and as a result, he ultimately decided
that the Critical Period Hypothesis is extremely important when discussing the Deaf community.
This theory states that there is a critical age at which people should learn a language, or they will
forever be unable to express themselves with little to no education in language. Sacks show that by
keeping Sign Language away from Deaf children is ultimately hurting them rather than helping.

Mental Recovery Plan Analysis
Pushing back the boundaries of physical and emotional pain, while still maintaining technique
and effort under distress in training and competition. This is a solid attribute that can be viewed
through the back up mental performance plan (Plan B) or the mental recovery plan. The
difference is that Plan B is a backup execution plan for something that commonly arises and can
be anticipated. The mental recovery plan is a last ditch effort to provide damage control to an
unanticipated situation. For low altitude F 16 missions, we had a primary attack for dropping
bombs on a target. For contingencies, such as weather issues or fallout (less aircraft in the

Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage
Gay Marriage Gay marriage has become more and more important to more and more people in
the recent past. Many people want gay people to be allowed to get married. They say that
marriage is a right, not a privilege. People who oppose gay marriage say that marriage is defined
as a union of one man and one woman. Many people, who otherwise are very supportive of a
homosexual s rights, say that they shouldn t be allowed to marry simply because two people of
the same sex can t get married. According to The Washington Post a record high of fifty nine
percent of Americans say that they support gay marriage while only thirty four percent say that
they are opposed to it. When asked to consider The Constitution and what it says about equal rights,

In the center of the artwork is a red outline of a women. The women is on her knees and hands.

that the artist is showing a woman reflecting on her past and not being happy with what she has

small women figure in the center of the painting could be a symbolization of her not wanting to

The Suicide Car And Truck Bombings
I chose the August 1998 simultaneous suicide car and truck bombings of the U.S. embassies in
Nairobi and Tanzania because I believe that not only were the attacks a precursor of how future
terrorist attacks were to be planned and executed, but it was also the first successful terrorist strike
by the al Qaedanetwork. The first bombing occurred at the American Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya
on August 7, 1998. The attack killed 213, injuring thousands over 150 people blinded by flying
glass. Approximately nine minutes later, the American Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania was
also bombed, killing 11 and wounding 85 (Wright, 2006). Both bombings were the result of
planned attacks by al Qaeda and with the approval of Osama Bin Laden.
On a personal level, I had only been with the FBI a little less than a year, and the bombings were
my first experience in an international terrorism matter. It was also served as a harbinger of the
new direction the FBI would be taking. One of by squad mates, Bill, who was formerly a Marine
Corp officer, had previously worked at one of the embassies. He was immediately deployed to the
region in a supporting investigative role. The needs of the Bureau far outweighed his obligation to
our drug squad in Miami or the FBI Miami Division for that matter.
Why was it precursor of how future terrorist attacks would be planned and executed? The
prevailing maxim from decades past was the use of conventional weapons by terrorist to make a

Data Mining Fundamentals
Data Mining
DM Defined Is the analysis of (often large) observational data sets to find unsuspected relationships
and to summarize the data in novel ways that are both understandable and useful to the data owner
Process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information
A class of database applications that look for hidden patterns in a group of data that can be used to
predict future behavior.
DM Defined The relationships and summaries derived are referred to as models or patterns.
Examples include linear equations, rules, clusters, graphs, tree structures and recurrent patterns in
time series.

Analyze the data by application software.
Present the data in a useful format, such as a graph or table.
Seeking relationships
The process should aim at accurate, convenient and useful summaries.
The steps are as follows:
Determine the nature and structure of the representation to be used
Decide how to quantify and compare how well different representations fit the data (choosing the
score function)
Choose an algorithmic process to optimize the score function
Decide what principles of data management are required to implement the algorithm efficiently.
Seeking relationships: example In simple regression, one can build a predictive model to relate
the predictor variable, X to a response variable Y through a relationship Y = aX + b. e.g. we
might build a model which would allow us to predict a persona s annual credit card spending given
their annual income. Not perfect but good for a rough characterization.
Step wise:
The representation is a model in which the response variable, spending, is linearly related to the
predictor variable, income.
The score function: the sum of squared discrepancies between predicted spending and observed
spending in group of people described by the data
The optimization algorithm is quite simple: a and b are expressed as explicit functions of the
observed values of spending and income
Unless the data set is

The Murder Of Nicole Brown Simpson
People all over the world know O.J. Simpson, because he was arrested and trialed for the murder
of Nicole Brown Simpson his former wife, and Ronald Goldman the friend of his former wife.
The murder trial took place in 1994, and the verdict of the court was that, he was not guilty. There
were marital problems between O.J. Simpson and his former wife, and at some point, his wife
complained to family members and friends about their marriage. She complained of being
physically abused and frequently beaten by O.J. Simpson, though he persistently denied ever
abusing her.
Due to their marital problems, she decided to file for divorce in 1992. On 12th June, 1994,
disaster struck as the bodies of Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were found after being
stabbed to death in Los Angeles, outside her condominium. The police conducted their
investigations, and the evidence found led them to suspect O.J. Simpson as the murderer. He fled
from the police, but later surrendered voluntarily at his house, found in L.A. s Rockingham Avenue.
He was taken to court and pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder against him. His murder trial
was regarded as the trial of the century, because the jury found him not guilty of either of the
murder charges.
The murder trial ended on 3rd October, 1995 (Simpson, 2014). This paper will review the homicide
investigation involving O.J. Simpson. The main elements of the process of investigation comprise

A Deduction Essay
A Deduction
Kant s subjective A deduction is not a deduction in the traditional philosophical sense. Rather, it is
a justification in the sense of the language of legal practice. (1) What Kant wants to justify is that
the categories are the necessary a priori conditions for the possibility of experiential objects. This
justification also has another role in Kant s overall project. If he can prove the categories are the
necessary a priori grounds for the possibility of experiential objects, then he can justify the use of
philosophical synthetic a priori propositions. The preservation of such propositions is central to
Kant s task in the Critique of Pure Reason. In order to determine whether Kant s justification is
adequate, we will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The first synthesis of apprehension in intuition is a synthesis of sensibility, and as such captures the
dual empirical/a priori nature of the syntheses quite well. Apprehension consists in picking out
specific items from the successive stream of intuitional content (empirical) in the representational
manifold of inner sense, organizing these items via the pure forms of intuition (a priori). The
synthesis of empirical intuitional content into apprehended items must be a priori, since space and
time are a priori and are the forms by which intuitional content is apprehended. Furthermore, these
intuitions manifest themselves to us in the representational manifold of inner sense, whose
successive stream is already a priori ordered by time. As Kant says: Wherever our representations

they have originated a priori or empirically as

The Importance Of Forgivenesstion In Shakespeare s The...
William Shakespeare once said, Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none , when he said that he
was saying that love everyone no matter what they are; to not trust many people only those with
pure intentions; and to never do evil to others. The last play that he wrote was The Tempest after
that he helped write a few others. This play is not like the classical tragedy plays that Shakespeare
wrote where everyone died at the end; on contrary, this is a story where revenge is an option, but
forgivenessis ultimately shown. This play has many non human characters; one of them is Caliban.
He calls himself the king of the island. Shakespeare uses Caliban to show forgiveness and
reconciliation, and also to show confinement and freedom.
Shakespeare uses Caliban s relationship with Prospero to show forgiveness and reconciliation.
Forgiveness are very difficult to give, but when the person that is not forgiving stays with the
other person for a long time forgiveness can be awarded with time. At the end of the poem when
Prospero, exhausted, is talking to everyone about how he is forgiving them for their wrong deeds.
Thus, at the end of his speech Prospero is forgiving Caliban for what he did to his family he say to
him,
PROSPERO. He is as disproportioned in his manners As in his shape. (To Caliban) Go, sirrah, to
my cell; Take with you your companions. As you look To have my pardon, trim it handsomely.
(Shakespeare 5.1)

Criticism And The Themes Of Antoni Gaudi
Antoni Gaudi: I chose Antoni Gaudi because of the way he managed to incorporate the themes
of nature and religion into his work. Gaudi had a very deep appreciation and pride of the
Mediterranean heritage. A famous comment of him was We own the image. Fantasy comes from
the ghosts. Fantasy is what people in the North own. We are concrete this really describes his
way of viewing his own work... through his complete disregard from past designers and his lust
for starting a new trend which he got from nature. His love for nature was started by the time he
spent in his garden while enjoying his youth. He would spend hours in the garden looking at how
trees would move in the wind. This would later go on to inspire him to use the great sweeping
curves he would later use in his design projects. Goudi suffered from extreme rheumatism, this
contributed to his reticent and reserved nature. His doctors concerns where one of the leading

and arrogant gestures. However, those who were close to him described him as friendly and polite,
pleasant to talk to and faithful to friends. GaudГ s personal appearance Nordic features, blond hair
and blue eyes changed radically over the course of time. As a young man, he dressed like a dandy

sometimes he was taken for a beggar, such as after the accident that caused his

Economic Globalization and China Essay
Globalization has, for better or worse, altered the economic arena for every country in the world.
For many less developed countries, globalization has leveled the playing field so that their
economies can compete with the larger, more developed ones such as the United States and other
large western economies. For instance, technical engineers in India and China are now just as
qualified as engineers in America, but at half the cost. The once large and prosperous service
sector in the United States as well as telemarketing services have largely been sourced to India as a
large exodus of American multinational corporations find cheaper workers who deliver comparable
quality. This then seems to be the essence of globalization businesses... Show more content on

That this was also the decade in which globalization came into full swing is more than a minor
inconvenience for its advocates (Rodrick). If globalization is supposed to present an advantage to
developing countries, why have there been so many setbacks? Indeed, both sides will have its
winners and losers regardless of which side of the development coin they live on, but for the most
part globalization has lifted millions out of poverty, improved the standard of living, and increased
life expectancy rates all while keeping developed nations relatively competitive to their developing
counterparts. Globalization s value is that it seeks to create an economic equilibrium in the world,
where parties are free from barriers and can benefit from one another through a more efficient
allocation of resources. This allows all participating nations to contribute to an integrated economy
and where all nations willing to embrace globalization have the potential to benefit. Regardless, the
path to successful integration to the global economy has not always been easy. There is contention
towards globalization as some argue that it is detrimental to developed nations, while many
developing countries that were forced to hastily open up their markets and integrate failed.
However, if implemented properly, globalization has proven that it can benefit all parties involved
and that the potential gains outweigh the losses.
The principle of globalization as it refers

The Good The Bad And The Ugly Essay
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is the most famous of all of Sergio Leone s films, and
probably one of the most famous Westerns of all times. Not only it became part of our culture, but
it has also created a sub genre of Westerns, called Spaghetti Westerns , mainly because of the Italian
origins of the filmmaker and the fact that his movies were shot in Europe instead of Hollywood.
Despite the characteristic Westerntradition found in the movie, Sergio Leonecreates a genre free
from any stereotypical clichГ©s that Westerns encompass. This paper will explore the ways in
which Spaghetti Westerns deviate from the original genre, highlighting their extreme adept artistry.

Their actions are in fact motivated by revenge and justice, yet in a distorted and caricatured manner.
The characters don t mainly act in accordance with good and evil, but with greed. Individualism and
egoism are therefore prominent in the protagonists personality. However, despite all the killing and
betrayals, they illustrate a level of humanity and compassion that makes them more complex. They
seem to be cartoon like in absurdity, but their actions demonstrate the darker side of humanity they
possess. In fact, the contradiction between action and emotion is quite distinguished: the immoral
act versus the refinement of human compassion. For example, in the closing scene, Blondie leaves
Tuco rich but trapped, but then shoots him down from the tree in the graveyard. We also see a
sense of compassion in Lee Van Cleefs action when he lets the soldier keep the rest of the alcohol
he bribed him with. In fact, these considerate moments, paralleled with the absurdity of their actions
are paradoxical as they reveal a human side to the unjustified actions. In addition to that, these
characters show a juxtaposed existence between the natural wilderness and the colonization of the
Western setting, emphasizing the idea of Man versus Nature. In fact, Spaghetti Westerns encompass
much more action and violence than original Hollywood Westerns. In the beginning of the movie,
Blondie captures Tuco and turns him in to the sheriff for the reward money. Tuco receives a
suspended sentence, whereby he is sentenced to hang, and as the sheriff begins to carry out the
punishment, Blondie shoots the whip from the sheriff s hands, shoots the rope that s tied around
Tuco s head, and then proceeds to shoot the hats off the spectators. He then rides off to a hidden
place in the desert to meet Tuco and split the

I did not always want to be an engineer. I wanted to be many things, I wanted to be a

They may also visit the problem to better understand it and work towards a solution. A

The need for Mechanical engineers is expected to increase with in the next 10 20

li value= 3 Driving forces are always going to change the market no matter what industry you are

noticed was the sports potential that the industry had. With the acceptance of waterskiing into the
Gravity Games and World Games, the industry only became more attractive for more companies to
pop up and compete. Also, boat shows and both the national and regional level have helped to drive
competition to all time highs. These shows allow the main consumers to get different options from
different companies and help to drive competition to all time highs. The more bargaining power, the
more competition will be evident. Also, products and technological innovations are helping to drive
competition. Companies within the boating industry are always coming out with new, fresh ideas
that help to make their products more attractive compared to other companies. So the other
companies have to in turn do the same thus driving competition. Finally, the spare parts market is
helping to drive competition. New entrants into the boating industry can use the spare parts market
to help build their business into the industry and eventually become a major contributor to the
overall market. All of these forces pushing the market to change are in a way good for the

or should it be done in private.
To begin with, people in the modern world believe that health is of greater importance than people

  • 2. New York City Identity Card Essay Beginning this year, New York City began its municipal identity card program, IDNYC. Anyone 14 years or older living in New York City qualifies for the card and its benefits. The initiative was announced just around a year ago by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Since its launch in January IDNYC has seen thousands of citizens sign up and use their cards. The initial rollout saw some hiccups that slowed sign ups at first. Now with issues resolved, the city boasts that it is meeting the demand of the city. The card attracts New Yorkers from all walks of life due to its diverse offerings of free one year memberships to 33 of New York s premiere cultural institutions that include MoMA PS1, the American Museum of Natural History and the Brooklyn Academy of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cultural institutions are feeling the benefits as well, with many locations noting a rise in attendance. It s still early, but the upsurge has been fantastic, cultural affairs commissioner Tom Finkelpearl told WSJ. For the individuals gaining access to new institutions for the first time, like 37 year old Noel Hidalgo, it s all about planning. He told The Wall Street Journal in the same article, You get the outdoor memberships during the summer, he said. Then as the weather gets bad, you get your memberships for the museums and the enclosed facilities. In addition to providing New Yorkers with increased exposure to the arts, cardholders can benefit in other life improving ways. New Yorkers in need of banking now have less hurdles in setting up a bank account with IDNYC in place. A common hurdle for immigrants setting up their own accounts has been a lack of identification. With IDNYC in place, this problem will hopefully see significant declines in the coming years. Additionally, those needing prescription drug help now have access to discounts at 95 percent of pharmacies in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Salon Became A Better Business Bureau ( Bbb ) David Gerard Salon opened its Goodyear, AZ location on January 4, 2010, which they market as a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon. The salon became a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited business on April 29, 201, and currently has an A+ rating. In December of 2014, the salon opened a second location in Avondale, AZ, which they market as an Aveda Salon and Gentlemen s Parlor. In 2015, this site became a BBB accredited business and like their Goodyear location has an A+ rating. The distance between these two locations is 5.9 miles; thus, it would appear both salons compete against one another for their share of the target audience. Target Audience A review of the demographics for Goodyear, AZ reveals the town has a population of 65,275 (2015) of which 34,651 are women. The demographics also indicate women between the ages of 25 to 44 represent the majority of the female population (Suburban Stats, 2016). The demographics for Avondale, AZ indicate a population of 76,238 (2015) of which 38,394 are women. Like Glendale, women between the ages of 25 to 44 account for the majority of the female population. However, when considering the Avondale location markets itself as an Aveda Salon and Gentlemen s Parlor an examination of the male demographics must be measured. The total male population sits at 37,844 (2015) of which those aged 25 to 49 represent the majority of the male population (Suburban Stats, 2016). Fortunately, these demographics paint a bright picture because females aged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the past radical Islamic groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda placed cells in the United States for the purpose of taking down the American establishment through domestic terrorism. In order to counter and even stop this phenomenon, it is essential that law enforcing and the intelligence community understand what makes Radical Islamso appealing. Furthermore, many radical Islamic groups believe that man made laws are shirk and they are not too be bound by them (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). Moreover, the only laws that have a sense of legitimacy in the eyes of radical Islamist is Sharia law (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). Which is believed to be law directly passed down from Allah. In addition, radical groups such as Al Muhajiroun believe that all actions, decisions and deeds are an act of praise and worship as long as it follows sharia. Conversely, any deviation from the fundamentalist teachings of Islam is considered sin against God (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). Therefore, according to radical Islamist those who do not follow the strict interpretations of Islam are doomed to burn in the fiery pits of hell, while those of follow such teaching will see paradise (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). Radical Islamist groups use this basic principle to keep their members in check. It is also important to note that each Radical Islamist group believes only it can offer its members the True path to salvations and all other groups are false (Quintan Wiktorowicz, 2006). This ideology is based upon a passage in the Hadiths that states And this Ummah will divide into 73 sects all of which will go to hell and they are those who are upon what I and my ... • 6. Compare And Contrast American And French Colonization In the early days of developing countries, each major empire had their own unique way to colonize the land. Each empire had good qualities and bad, and each experienced pitfalls. The leading empires in this time period was the Spaniards, the Dutch, the British, and the French. Each varying technique of colonizing land helped each of these empires control most of the western hemisphere. While there was several similarities, there was also many differences in the way each empire conquered land. Regardless, they dominated this era from every part of the globe. The Spanish expansion process lasted between the years 1492 to 1898. Spain designated men called conquistadors to go out and look for, explore, and conquest land. Their main reasoning for obtaining more land was to spread Christianity and trading purposes. A famous man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... North America, the Caribbean Islands, and South America were just a few of the areas in which the French founded colonies. Like the Spaniards, the French began to occupy large amounts of the western hemisphere. The French begun colonizing the new world for money and access to the Pacific Ocean, but as they colonized more land they started using the colonies to export fish, furs, and sugars. (French Colonization of the Americas). Though the French did try to colonize the Americas, they were very unsuccessful simply because they were not acclimated to the climate and were made very sick by the exposure to different diseases. Not only this, but the French had to constantly battle attacks from the Indians attempting to push the French off their land. They also had to deal with attacks from the Spaniards trying to take over the land the French were already trying to colonize. Ultimately, most of the French colonies were short lived due to the disease and loss of land to the other empires. (French Colonization of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Process Analysis Reflection Teachers in high school were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what they thought was good writing. Little did I know everyone s writing style is good in its own way. This academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles and analyzing the writingprocess and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an extraordinary process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw where my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways I can write more efficiently in my process... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What helped me analyze this was Carol Berkenkotter and Donald Murray s analysis of the writing process. Donald Murray was analyzed for two months in his everyday life and they analyzed how the environment he was in when writing affected his writing outcomes. The importance of the audience when editing was highlighted in one of the final paragraphs and I did not realize the importance of the audience really until I looked back and thought about my writing. Even going back to junior high writing, your audience was the teacher, and your goal was to write to the teacher s specifications. Writing is more than just sitting down and writing a dull essay. Even if it is not the first thought in your head you still have to know your affordances, constraints, and audience in order to write effectively and edit to the best of your ability. Going into this course I was afraid my writing style would not be good enough, or up to par with the writing style of a professor for a college writing class. The first paper I composed this semester was a rhetorical analysis paper in which I analyzed the rhetor, the audience, the exigence, affordances, and constraints. If you would have asked me what most of those terms meant last year at this time I would have given you a blank stare. After reading the articles from Keith Grant Davie, Christina Haas and Linda Flower, and Laura Carroll, my eyes were opened to what rhetorical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ancient Mesopotamia And Ancient Civilizations Throughout many cultures in ancient civilizations, humans have held a belief in superior beings to which they called gods. The gods, in the eyes of many of the ancient people, were responsible for many things such as crop growth, storms, fertility, and even creation of life. The Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and the Hebrews all had gods that they interacted with. Understanding the likenesses and differences in how these people interacted with their gods might give us an insight to how similar or different the three civilizations were. In ancient Mesopotamia, humans had many gods. According to their beliefs, there was a war between the old gods and the new gods. They were created by the storm god Marduk when he defeated the god Tiamat s champion Quingu. From Quingu s remains. Marduk created man and they were to be co laborers with the gods to hold off the forces of chaos in order to keep the communities running smoothly. The humans provided the gods with everything they needed from food to sacrifices and taking care of the temples which were the god s homes on earth. In return the gods took care of the humans in every aspect of their lives such as continued health or a good harvest. It was the god Enlil who legitimized the rule of kings. This is what gave a particular person the right to impose their rule over all others. The person who rules is the one who has direct communication with the god of their city. Even though there is communication with the gods, this did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of The Mazurkas This mazurka is in D major and comes from a set of four mazurkas composed by Chopin in 1838. It has the tempo marking Vivace, which suggests a lighthearted and energetic rendition of the music. The accent is consistently on the third beat to create the typical mazurka dance effect, and it adds interest and character to the playing. All the mazurkas composed by Chopin have the characteristic of the traditional Polish dance and evoke the feeling of nationalism because of Chopin s strong identification with his homeland. These short compositions are interesting in nature and have the strong tendency to reveal deep feelings and pathos in the listeners even if they are very condensed. The piece starts with an accent on the third beat. The left hand has a staccato note on the first strong beat and an accent on the last third beat. It is arguable whether such a pattern applies to the right hand as well, but most likely it does, since the right hand also has the accompanying layer added specifically to the second and third beats. It should be noted that although Chopin provided the usual pedal marking which changes once per measure, it is still better to execute the staccato as if there is no pedal held down to produce a sonic effect that is different than otherwise. The overall structure is a simple ternary form with the middle section divided into two repeating parts and a short coda that leads to the end. It should be noted that despite the fact that there are a lot of changes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Making a Biogas Digestor for Ugandan Farmers Introduction For this project I am doing biogas, most farmers in Uganda don t make use of the animal waste to generate energy for their household use. Having a biogas digester would give farmers power which they can use for lighting and cooking. The digester produces bio slurry which serves as organic manure for their crops. Therefore biogas would be the most efficient and accessible form of energy in the rural areas which constitute 80% of the population of Uganda since the animal waste is available to them at no financial cost. Defining the Problem The population of Uganda is 35,918,915, eighty percent of Ugandans are farmers (CIA World Fact book).Only 25 percent of Ugandans have access to the power grid, the remaining 75 percent have to ... This will result in economic development and income generation for women. Rural electrification also improves the technological view of the people because they will be able to learn new techniques on computers which will improve their intelligence. Solution An ambitious target is needed by the government of Uganda to provide accessible, cheap and clean energy to the 75% of the population. The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy should subsidize the cost of the bio digester unit. From records, the GDP per capita for Uganda is 1,500 Dollars therefore it is one of the poorest countries in the world (CIA World Fact book). It is therefore very difficult if not impossible for a household to be able to afford a bio digester because a unit cost between 700 and 1000 United States Dollars (Kafayat Adeyemi). There should be programmes on the importance of bio digester to the farmers (savings, clean cooking, health benefits, green or sustainable environment etc.). This will give the farmers a sense of responsibility and involvement in the whole process. Donor funding should also be pursued. The farmers in rural areas should invest in biogas digesters, a biogas digester would be useful because it needs raw materials which are available to the farmers at any time. ... They use technology whether they are using social media, using a learning program, or reading an electronic book. The truth is, that there are more positives than negatives when children use technology. There is fear that if children use too much technology they will not have proper development especially cognitively. This paper will show how technology can benefit a child s cognitive development. One benefit is young children can learn how to read while using a device whether it is a computer, tablet, or cellphone instead of reading a regular book. On these devices, there are applications where the parent can download age appropriate books. Also, some of the books may be read along, or read out loud to them. Linda Cooper, associate professor at Pratt University says, This way children can learn how pronounce words and learn how to read at their own pace (2005). This is a great way to teach a child learn how to read. Some of these programs have a voice that will help a child understand and pronounce words. If the device has internet connection, a child can Google a word that they do not understand and learn the definition. However, there are a couple issues like children having a difficult time reading a regular book. They may not be able to read a regular book after learning how to read on a screen. Reading on a device starts helping children to build blocks on how to use video games and watch television. Children who read on devices are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is portrayed as a scheming, mischievous deity who has no real loyalties, his role is shrouded in mystery; what was his purpose in the ancient stories. Lokis character arises questions about his role; was he a plot device, a foil for the Aesir, or maybe he was meant to be used as a warning to child? Shi June 16, 2008 Abstract: As a result of technological advancements, modern businesses seek new and improved methods of conducting their business processes. Systems have been designed to augment and manage core business functions such as production, accounting, procurement, and human resources. However, even with these systems in place, information is unreliable and inconsistent if they are on disparate platforms. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software tackles this problem by integrating business processes into a centralized system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the information that was used to compose this paper was taken from prior ERP articles, online reference tools, and ERP books. What is an ERP System? An ERP system integrates an organization s data and services in a single system. ERP systems combine computer hardware and software during the process of integration. One thing most ERP systems have in common is the use of a single database that is used to store information for different system components. To obtain an ERP status, a given software package must successfully function as at least two systems. For example, a software package can hypothetically be considered an ERP system if it can execute human resources and financial functions. Even though this will accomplish the function of an ERP system, ERP applications typically support much larger business platforms (Wikipedia, 2007). ERP, in its entirety, provides a single database that stores all the data for its individual modules. Some of the modules an ERP system supports include, but is not limited to: Manufacturing Supply Chain Management Financials Projects Human Resources Customer Relationship Management Data Warehouse Table 1.1 summarizes the various modules that an ERP application supports and the business

  • 22. Baroque Art And The Baroque Era Baroque Ornamentation The use of ornamentation in Baroque music was a creative, and sometimes improvised outlet for period musicians that spurred from human instinct to manipulate melodic material. This urge to change melodic material by altering the rhythm, or melody can be seen throughout history. Music including Gregorian chant, which predates the Baroque era, contains some elements of ornamentation. It can be seen throughout the Baroque, Classical era, and even in modern music. Although improvisation has been repressed by modern conventions of performance, it shows itself in the style of improvised jazz and avant garde free improvisation. Performers use improvisation as a means of self expression and a way to express composer intent. During the Baroque era, there were many different styles and methods of ornamentation depending on location, style, date, and composer of a piece of music. Understanding the historical developments of the Baroque era and the development of ornamentation can help modern performers of Baroque music better understand how to play a more historically accurate performance. The Baroque era lasted from about 1600 to 1750. The music from the Baroque began to develop contrapuntally and in harmonic complexity. Composers also relied on the performers ability to add ornamentation and to complete the harmonies in a basso continue score through improvisation. These scores consisted of a bass line with numbers and symbols written above, to indicate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Qin Dynasty is considered to be among the most influential dynasties as it laid the foundation for the massive cultural and economic development of Chinathat took place during the Han Dynasty, but it also failed to achieve many of its pro commoner ideological goals. In fact, socioeconomic disparity was not alleviated and despite the notion of enriching the lives of the common people, it was under Qin rule in which public resentment of the authoritarian government peaked as there were countless peasant revolts against the iron handed bureaucratic rule of the Qin. Because a paranoid emperor alone wielded political clout and influence, the tumultuous few years of Qin reign was rife with paranoia and suspicion among the masses. Although the Qin Dynasty is seldom thought to possess the same glaring discrepancy between ideology and state that the Communist regime in post World War II China had, the failure of the flawless egalitarian state models in socioeconomic and political aspects during the Qin Dynasty mirrored the developments in early Communist China. Instead of manager s deciding on what substitution, or lack thereof, can give their team an advantage, they are forced with situations in which they must bunt, must pinch hit, and must double switch. As James notes, the American League game allows a true option, and thus true strategy. This means that whatever AL managers decide to do when it comes to offensive batting substitutions, they do so to benefit their team, not because they are forced to do so (Meehan, 2013). These substitutions, including the commonly used double switch where a pinch hitter is substituted for the pitcher and the next inning is substituted again for a relief pitcher, take up time in the game. • 35. Reasons for World War I World War 1 Essay rewrite There has been many wars since the dawn of man however very few of these wars are as horrific and bloodcurdling as the war in which we call World War 1. The event that started this war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, who was killed by a group called the Black Hand, who was supported by Serbia. This caused countries to take sides and alliance s to form. Before this war people saw honor in fighting, however the soldiers who returned had a different story to tell. The three core things that played a major part in this war would have to be militarism and the countries that were forced to choose sides and form alliances, imperialism. Militarism played a significant part of the war especially in the German empire as well as a few other countries. For example the German empire taught there kids combat strategies and officer training from the time when they could read and write. The year before the year of the war began the German empire and France nearly doubled their armies in size knowing that tensions were growing high and war was soon to follow. Germany s advanced in industrialization made them a really tough opponent, especially for the less developed countries such as Russia. For example, the signs that one can encounter in British Sign Language can be different than signs that are seen in American Sign Language. Although Sign Language itself is very universal, the specific patterns and methods of speaking that are associated with each kind of Deaf Community can be drastically different. Sacks himself was not deaf, but it was an exciting experience for him to dive into a community he was not familiar with. The second part of the book, Sacks goes into detail about the importance of Sign Language itself and discusses the situation in which he meets a young Deaf boy named Joseph. When reading this book, I completely understood and agreed with Sacks when he stated that deaf children must learn a language at a young age to be successful. With that being said, Oliver Saks researched American Sign Language, and as a result, he ultimately decided that the Critical Period Hypothesis is extremely important when discussing the Deaf community. This theory states that there is a critical age at which people should learn a language, or they will forever be unable to express themselves with little to no education in language. This is a solid attribute that can be viewed through the back up mental performance plan (Plan B) or the mental recovery plan. The mental recovery plan is a last ditch effort to provide damage control to an unanticipated situation. For low altitude F 16 missions, we had a primary attack for dropping bombs on a target. The Suicide Car And Truck Bombings I chose the August 1998 simultaneous suicide car and truck bombings of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Tanzania because I believe that not only were the attacks a precursor of how future terrorist attacks were to be planned and executed, but it was also the first successful terrorist strike by the al Qaedanetwork. The first bombing occurred at the American Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya on August 7, 1998. The attack killed 213, injuring thousands over 150 people blinded by flying glass. Approximately nine minutes later, the American Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania was also bombed, killing 11 and wounding 85 (Wright, 2006). Both bombings were the result of planned attacks by al Qaeda and with the approval of Osama Bin Laden. On a personal level, I had only been with the FBI a little less than a year, and the bombings were my first experience in an international terrorism matter. This justification also has another role in Kant s overall project. If he can prove the categories are the necessary a priori grounds for the possibility of experiential objects, then he can justify the use of philosophical synthetic a priori propositions. The last play that he wrote was The Tempest after that he helped write a few others. This play is not like the classical tragedy plays that Shakespeare wrote where everyone died at the end; on contrary, this is a story where revenge is an option, but forgivenessis ultimately shown. This play has many non human characters; one of them is Caliban. He calls himself the king of the island.
