Gatt And Its Eventual Development
Founded in 1995, the World Trade Organization (WTO) formally known as the General Agreement on
Tariffs and Trade (GATT) would officially commence in the late 20th century with more than 123
nations taking part. The intergovernmental organization, which was established to regulate
international trade, replaced GATT as of April 15th, 1994 following the signing of the Marrakesh
Agreement by more than 120 global nations, and was officially legitimized more than 20 years ago on
January 1st 1995 following GATTS s unsuccessful attempt in creating an International Trade
Organization in 1948 (WTO, 2016). It is of vital importance to understand the history of GATT and its
eventual development into what is known today as the World Trade ... Show more content on

It must be noted that GATT is not an organization, but rather an agreement among multilateral nations
eager to take part in global trade. GATT strived to remove the many boundaries and tariffs that
restricted nationals from trading. The smaller number of tariffs there were, the more trade would
occur; the more trade taking place between nations, the stronger a country would be. Though
originally intended to serve as a subsidy of the United Nations in 1947 during the UN Conference on
Trade and Employment in Havana, Cuba and as the primary regulator of multi national trade, the ITO
failed final support and approval particularly from the US Government. In 1950, the United States
Government Announced that it would not seek Congressional ratification of the Havana Charter, and
the ITO was effectively dead (WTO, 2016). This left GATT the sole multilateral institution to govern
world trade for half a century.
The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was negotiated and signed by 23 nations at the Palais
Des Nation in Geneva on October 30, 1947. GATT would officially legitimize on January 1st of 1948
and its founding members contracting parties included: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Burma, Canada,
Ceylon, Chile, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, India, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New

Testing Toxicology for Drugs and the Effect They Have On the Brain
Forensic science has been a revelation in law enforcement. After the first American forensic lab was
established in 1929 by the Los Angeles police department, using forensic sciences has been pretty
much used in every major crime investigation (What is Forensic Science, p.1). What exactly is
forensic science? According to an article put out by the University of Western Australia, Forensics is
the term given to an investigation of a crime using scientific means. It is also used as the name of the
application of scientific knowledge to legal matters (What is Forensic Science, p.1). Forensics is fairly

to prevent the spread of HIV and HCV. It can be conducted from hair based testing if a person was

Free Will And The Door For Free Action
This paper contends that Sider is wrong. With a revised interpretation of free will and internalization
of weight bestowal, indeterminacy might open the door for free action. We will discuss what this
paper means by free action and indeterminacy, explore why Sider thinks indeterminacy is
incompatible with free action, object Sider s arguments using Nozick s proposal of self subsuming
weight bestowal, and investigate possible counter arguments to Nozick s proposition.
The libertarian view requires a free action to be non random, uncaused and could have been done
otherwise . However, indeterminacy suggests that a prior event provides a clue of a range of probable
future events. Thus the indeterministic version of event is not uncaused. To explore the possibility of
indeterminacy to be compatible with free action, we have to tolerate this shortcoming. Therefore in
this essay, we will regard a person who acts freely as someone who could have non randomly chosen
other than the chosen non random event. Whether the event is caused or uncaused is driven out of the
equation.
Sider argues that an indeterministic world governed by the law of probability inherently entails
decision to be made by chance. Suppose Amir has 75%, 20%, and 5% probabilities of choosing a
sandwich, a burger, and an orange for his lunch respectively. Imagine one hundred parallel worlds
exist. In 75 worlds, Amir would choose a sandwich; in 25 worlds, Amir would choose a burger; in 5
worlds, Amir would choose

Development Of Innovative Educational Methodologies
According to Hall (2005, pp188), Insight into the educational, systemic and personal factors, which
contribute to the culture of professions, can help guide the development of innovative educational
methodologies to improve inter professional collaborative practice. IPE is integral in a healthcare
environment, and serves to allow individuals within the healthcare profession to gain an appreciation
for differing roles. Using the Kolb s Learning Cycle (1984), I will chronologically reflect upon my
experiences of IPE, considering concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation
and active experimentation. After having exchanged pleasantries, individuals seemed coy and as
theorised by Tuckman (1965), it was inherent that our team was in the forming stage of development
within a small group. Polite and perfunctory conversation took place, which made it difficult to
progress with the task in hand. Having worked as a member of teams in the past, it was pertinent to
use what little time we had wisely and I felt it necessary to adopt the role of a team leader, akin to that
theorised by the Hersey Blanchard Situational Leadership® model. Here, I styled my leadership in the
manner of selling the task providing information and direction which, accompanied by communication
from individuals in the team, would lead to the sale of the task and potential delegation of
responsibilities and progression with it. However, there were barriers to progress in that; upon

Economic News Article Summary
Economics News Article Synopsis Thinking about economics in terms of gender and race seems
extremely strange and irrelevant at first. But after reading the article The Sobering Gender and Racial
Gap Among Economists is Hurting Everyone written by Pedro Nicolaci Da Costa on
businessinsider.com, I learned gender and race have a huge impact on the economy. What this article
touched on is few women and racial and ethnic minority are involved in economics. The world of
economics has a major population of strictly white men. The article states that less than 15% of full
professors teaching economics in the U.S. are women. So why is this gender and race gap so
important? It is a known fact that diversity impacts group dynamics and decision marking.

Quarantine Essential Questions
Essential Question #1 What does the experience of the blind in the quarantine tell us about modern
government? The Experience in the quarantine is a critic on the different forms of government in the
modern world. At first look there is a stark contrast between the two regimes in parts 8 11 of the novel.
At first there is the doctor s regime , which is democratic but ultimately inefficient as the attendees
must waste time by making decisions diplomatically. But as seen in part 8, as more and more of the
members begin to lose their sight, diplomacy falls to the side. (Gradesaver.com). The Ward becomes

The doctors wife seemed so overwhelmed knowing she was the one responsible for the group because
she was the one who had to go through these obstacles with them only she could visibly see what they
were facing. The people in the group had to put their trust in her and I think that really weighed
heavily on her shoulders knowing their lives were in her hands. The doctor s wife is also extremely
happy that she can care for the blind less and less as the ward members continue to get their sight back
and the fact that her and her husband will no longer have to live in the filth of the ward. I believe the
wife had many moments of doubt when it came to taking care of the group because it would take a lot
of responsibility for just one person. I think from this, you can get glimpses of her character and
personality. From the beginning we see that she just couldn t leave her husband and wanted to stay
which led to her lying to the doctors and telling them that she was indeed blind
(www.psychologytoday.com). So how could we assume she would just leave the rest of the group
there? Leaving them in those conditions to die would be unthinkable when there was still a glimpse of
hope out there. The doctor s wife feels as if since she has been given this gift (or arguably, burden) of
immunity to the sickness, she should take this as an advantage into helping others who can t help

Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injuries result from a fracture or dislocation of the vertebrae that is typically due to a
sudden, forceful blow to the spine ( NINDS Spinal Cord Injury Information Page , 2016). According
to Early (2006), A traumatic accident, such as a shooting, stabbing, car accident, or diving accident,
may result in a spinal cord injury (p. 535). According to the National Institute of Neurological

Analysis Of The Versace Advertisements
When one looks at an image from Calvin Klein, Victoria s Secret, or Versace, the first appeal comes
from beautiful models. These individuals are normally jumping, laughing and representing every
idealistic way of life by manifesting the idea of a blind promise. Unfortunately, these images are not
only created with the intent of being manipulative, but also to resemble the present history involving
societal roles. At the moment, Ads are able to capture the political ideologies or the social influences
in order to represent the position of modern times. On the other hand, the Versace brand recently
released a new campaign on Fall clothes bringing to light a different topic. At a quick glance, the
Versace Advertisement depicts the everyday family of four. However, through John Berger s Ways of
Seeing, the picture represents the hegemonic portrayal of male dominance, the suppressive forces of
society on women, and the influence publicity has on the surveyed. Through this lens, one can
understand the social relations and expectations publicity creates for individuals.
According to Berger, men in society signify an omnipotent authority. The hegemonic belief that men
must be masculine and worthy of power has been a cultural view since the beginning of time. In his
essays, Berger explains how God condemned women to be subservient to men, granting them control.
Also the author determines how a man s presence is dependent upon the promise of power which he
embodies (Berger 45). He

Bargaining Power of Suppliers and Buyers of Video Games
Bargaining power of suppliers: Hardware, game publisher, game developer
Bargaining power of buyers: there is a high power (82)
For the industry analysis, we are certain of sales since the PS4 is a consumer product particularly. For
that reason, the buyer has a high bargaining power on the product. The market for casual gamers has
increased seriously and sales increased after decreasing price of the PS3. Due to the uniqueness of
every video game console and the games buyers have bargaining power. A small difference might be
significance an extra hundred dollars for an intense gamer. People have more aware to the price
difference because they play video games more casually and as a result they have more bargaining
power. Buyers have a reasonable amount of power in the video game industry in particular with
Nintendo. Although Microsoft and Sony have other sources of revenues, the major source of income
comes from the sales of games and game consoles.
Bargaining power of suppliers: Hardware, game publisher, game developer (65)
In addition, Sony operates in the one business sector which is the computer entertainment industry.
Sony distributes and market PlayStation products including PS4, PS3, PS2, PSP and others accessories
and gaming equipment (IBISWorld, 2013). Thus, I believe there is a high power of suppliers on the
subject of hardware and accessories. We need to estimate the prices of the cost of hardware units that
we need to use. Since the productivity of IBMs Cell

Flexible Organization Essay
A proper flexible organization provides its work force arrangements where employees are given
greater freedom to balance their work and personal commitments such as family, higher education,
community activities, religious commitments, professional development, and general interests.
Above is Atkinson s model of a flexible firm. He argued that firms increasingly seek 4 kinds of
flexibility functional, numerical, pay, distancing.
Functional flexibility is a qualitative approach to work, and refers to management s ability to deploy
and redeploy particular sections of the workforce on a wide range of tasks in response to market
demand as and when required (Sparrow 1998 cited in Teicher Holland 2006 p. 241 242). To ensure

2002 cited in Teicher Holland 2006 p. 242), facilitates the reduction of the core or permanent
workforce
Financial flexibility is a compensation system designed to facilitate the development of numerical and
functional flexibility. It provides the duality of allowing market forces to dictate relative wage rates
for the external workforce and provides the incentive for the core workforce to increase its skill base
by relating pay to skill levels (Teicher Holland 2006, p. 242)
The incorporation work time flexibility or internal numerical flexibility provides the organization with
the flexibility to arrange and adjust work patterns and leads to a closer correlation between labour
utilization and production demands without financial penalty or the additional costs of hiring labour
(Felstead Jewson 1999; Ozaki 1999 cited in Teicher Holland 2006 p. 242)
The use of flexibility in the business centers on securing lower labour costs, tighter manning levels,
higher machine utilization, greater staff mobility and few interruptions and bottlenecks in production
(Blyton 1992, p.301 cited in Sheridan, Conway 2001 pp. 8)
Flexible work environments also improve employee retention. With the pool of talent in markets
becoming smaller as well as companies getting more and more competitive, many current and
potential job candidates rather work for a company

Realism And The Victorian Era
So what does one do when said individuals that are of different blood and social statuses fall in love?
The Victorian Era was a time where your social status could be construed as directly correlating to
whom said individual could socialize with, marry, or have any ties too. Perhaps maybe there weren t
three individuals that knew this more than the three of Wuthering Heights Edgar Linton, Catherine
Earnshaw, and Heathcliff. The Victorian Era had many elements that could be tied to it but the one
that will be the center focus for this paper will be realism. Realism emphasized the middle class and
rejected the heroic in favor of the ordinary, focusing on common people and common situations. In
realism the middle class was simply feed up with social statuses and not having a voice in society.
Another group of people that simply were feed up with the norms of society was that of women.
Realism not only focused on the common class as a whole but on the empowerment of women and
letting these ladies voices be heard whether it was through writings such as Wuthering Heights.
Nevertheless, the Victorian Era was a time in which many would considered was the ultimate turning
point for two different group of people as a whole the commoners as well as the women of this era.
Edgar Linton was a young man of noble blood that makes the love between Catherine Earnshaw and
Heathcliff very complicated. From the story of Wuthering Heights Linton definitely would be the ideal

The Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing For Students
Clammy hands, extreme anxiety, and increased heart rate are all symptoms that occur along side
standardized tests. Standardized tests have found their way into the center of American education.
These achievement tests are used to determine a student s performance in particular content areas for a
certain school year. The student s scores are then cross referenced to the scores of all other students
that took the same test (Haladyna). Many students work hard during their educational careers, only to
do poorly on a standardized test and lose their chances at being accepted into any decent college.
Standardized tests are not beneficial to the student nor to the teacher and are sometimes even harmful.
Students should be given standardized tests less frequently and educators should place less emphasis
on scores students receive on these tests. Standardized exams favor upper class majority students,
decrease the quality of public education, and ineffectively measure a student s achievement. By using
standardized tests to measure a student s academic ability and achievement, the education system is
giving the upper hand to higher class, racial majority students. Standard exams are racially biased and
include questions that favor white students. One study showed that average reading SAT score for
white students was 99 points higher than the average reading score of black students on the same test
(Jaschik). An explanation for such a drastic difference in scores lies within the

by their principle Miss Trunchball. Matilda is based on the Roald Dahl novel Matilda . The film
director is Danny DeVito who believed did a great job. This film did a great job displaying a few
themes in this film some of those themes are... family, friendship, rules, bully, fear, talent and sibling
rivalry. This movie was realized in 1996 and was a big hit there and still is a big hit to this day. There
were many film techniques used in this film and here are some examples.

At the start of this scene, you get an establishing shot on a high angle to show what type of house they

is taken to show what everyone is doing inside the house. Through our these shots there is some up
pumped 80s music playing in the backed ground and a voice over that gives us more information
about what is going on in that scene. They also pan over to Matilda in a medium angle shot then
turning to a low angle shot. The lighting they used was dim lighting this was used to show that they

Convincing My Atheist Friend that Gods Exists
The central problem of this paper that I am going to try to convince my atheist friend is that god
existed. I will argue in favor of a higher being by first presenting and evaluating two argument that
will be used to persuade my atheist friend. First I will explain Pascal s argument. Second I will explain
one of the arguments of Aquinas s that is in favor of the existence of god. Then I am going to explain
what s the central difference between the two arguments is. I will conclude by stating whether I was
successful in converting my atheist friend.
Pascal doesn t understand that the atheist or the believer would be persuaded by his argument. Instead,
he handles the Wager to the curious and unconvinced. I have a choice to either believe in god exist or
believe that doesn t exists. First, if I believe in God, and God exist, then I will gain happiness; but if I
don t believe in God, and God doesn t exist ill pay the consequence. Second, if I don t believe in God
exist and God does exist, then I will gain pain; but if I believe God doesn t and God doesn t exist ill
pay the consequence. So, I have everything to earn, nothing to lose by believing in God, and I have
everything to lose and nothing to earn by not believing in God. Pascal s wager is at first intent for
believing, but not a proof. Yet, the wager assumes many conditions for the wager to fit a rational
theory.
In Pascal s Wager I think had to objection raised is to believe in god openly for the reward is the

In the 1996 national elections, almost 600 million people voted and an average of 26 candidates
competed for each of the 543 territorial constituency seats. Elections are held at different levels. The
two major election levels are at national level, after which the national government is established and

In these elections members for the Lower House are elected. Head of a state is called Chief Minister,
who is member of the Lower House. Constitutionally the figurehead of the state is the Governor, who
is appointed by the President according to the advice of the national government. After the state
elections the governor calls for the suitable candidate to form the government. In general the governor
has more legislative rights at state level than the President has at national level. The governor can call
on early elections in the state, or fire the government if he thinks that the government has failed or is
unstable. In the federal relations between the state and central government, the central government has
more authority on state matters than the state government. For example the central government has the
right to redistribute the state borders without consulting the state governments on this matter. If the
political conditions in any state are not stable, the national government can call on the President to
declare President s rule in that specific state. And so the government in that state is dissolved, which
means an emergency rule is declared and sometimes if necessary the army is put to work in that state.
Even though the Constitution determinates the rights of the different authorities in the administration
process, there can be other pressures like strong lobbies or strong political parties, which, sometimes

placing it into another whose organ has failed, or is injured. It is known to be life saving 80 percent of
the time, but it is a major surgery that carries many me potential risks and complications the biggest
one being organ rejection. (WebMD) Organ transplants have quite some history. The first successful
kidney transplant was performed not even a century ago, in 1954. Despite this small time gap, many
technologies have been discovered in this field. Organ transplantation is being performed much more
commonly but there are still many improvements that are needed to be made. (Transplant Village)
Although organ transplants are supposed to save lives, it may not be worth the risks; it can easily
cause health complications and economic instability to both the donor and recipient. For all, medical
risks and psychological concerns can occur if the surgery is not successful, or if the donor and/or
recipient do not recover fully. (Lohse) In order to prevent the body from rejecting an organ,

Peter Medak s Gain of the Viewer s Sympathy for Derek Bentley in the Film Let Him Have It
The film Let Him Have it is a powerful social drama based on a true story. The film s Director, Peter

Synthetic Fibers And Its Effects On The Body
2.2.2.2 Elastic fibres
Elastic fibres are 1 µm to 3µm in diameter and are loosely arranged in all directions in the dermis
[90]. These fibres are scattered among the collagen bundles and become thicker in the deeper layers of
the dermis [90]. Elastic fibres, as their name indicates, are extremely elastic and help in the elastic
recoil of the skin and that is the reason why they are more abundant in the dermis of the face, scalp
and the extensible organs, such as tendons and arteries [91, 92].
2.2.2.3 Extrafibrillar matrix
The extrafibrillar matrix includes a ground substance (glycosaminoglycans), dermal fibroblasts,
dendritic cells, mast cells, histiocytes, blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics [85]. Ground substance is
a gelatinous amorphous substance of sugar and proteins (glycoproteins and proteoglycans) that is
observed between the fibres and between the cells. It provides support to the dermis and has an
extraordinary capacity to store water. Moreover, it facilitates the passage of nutrients, hormones, and
other molecules through the dermis [72, 73].
Fibroblasts, the major cell type of the dermis, produce and maintain most of the ECM proteins.
Indeed, they produce collagen, elastic fibres, and glycosaminoglycan [93]. The dermal fibroblasts are
differentiated from the mesenchymal cells and appear as thin spindle shaped cells. The dermis
includes other types of cell such histiocytes, mast cells and dermal dendritic cells. Histiocytes are star
shaped cells with a small

Brain Symbolism
The symbolism of the heart being related to the brain I feel is very unlikely. Although studies have
shown that in recent research of the heart they have found little details on how they have discovered
little neutrons and protons and nerve cells that can relate to the brain making it more believable that
the heart is much more than just another organ. The heart does not only just pump blood but they also
think the heart can transplant memories from the donor s past experiences. The symbolism of the heart
is a tricky thing to describe and relate to the brain as the human body is more complex than we could
have ever thought. When it comes down to the emotions, feelings, and memories people say they have
experienced is where the controversy

Characterization and Symbolism in Yellow Woman Essay
Characterization and Symbolism in Yellow Woman In the short story Yellow Woman , Leslie Marmon
Silko uses characterization and symbolism to address personal and cultural identity. After reading
Yellow Woman , a sense of mystery is imposed on the reader. Much of the story centers on the identity
of the two main characters with issues of duty and desires, social obligations, and the human and
spiritual worlds. Taking place in 1970 s New Mexico, the author reveals the aesthetic beauty of a
Native American homeland and culture through detail and color. The story begins with an ambiguous
protagonist/narrator identified as Yellow Woman who is trapped between a dreamlike world and
reality. Her naivety is revealed at the start when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Silva s obscure identity is questioned by Yellow Woman throughout the story. The reader doesn t
exactly know who he really is and he gives Yellow Woman vague answers to her simple questions:
Little Yellow Woman , he said, you never give up, do you? I have told you who I am. The Navajo
people know me too (Silko 765). Silva was the one who addressed the narrator as Yellow Woman
giving her a sense of identity and confusion because of the myth she remembered her grandfather told
her. Silva could possibly be the ka tsina spirit that lives in the mountains or just a stranger she met, the
readers will never know for sure and neither will Yellow Woman. Later in the story, Silva and Yellow
Woman both take meat that Silva claimed he stole to sell to the Mexicans. Silva informs Yellow
Woman about the limitations and boundaries that are set upon the Native Americans: The Navajo
reservation begins over there . He pointed to the east. The Pueblo boundaries are over there . He
looked below us to the south, where the narrow trail seemed to come from. The Texans have their
ranches over there, starting with that valley, the Concho Valley. The Mexicans run some cattle over
there too (Silko 765).
While crossing the valley, a white rancher spots and questions them. Silva tells Yellow Woman to
leave him with the white rancher. She does so and rides away, hearing four gun shots. In

Huck and Jim s Adventures in The Adventures of Huckleberry...
Huck and Jim s Adventures in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn In The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn, Twain develops the plot into Huck and Jim s adventures allowing him to weave in his criticism
of society. The two main characters, Huck and Jim, both run from social injustice and both are
distrustful of the civilization around them. Huck is considered an uneducated backward boy,
constantly under pressure to conform to the humanized surroundings of society. Jim a slave is not even
considered as a real person, but as property. As they run from civilization and are on the river, they
ponder the social injustices forced upon them when they are on land. These social injustices are even

The widow Douglas adopted and tried to civilize Huck. The two sisters , one redeeming quality is
their concern for Huck, which, though it possesses moralistic overtones, includes an element of
sincerity, giving them some patience in dealing with the uncivilized Huck. Other than this, the sisters
role is to represent the artificial, empty civilization to which Huck rejects. As much as the widow
Douglass tries to adopt conventional religion upon Huck, he continues to reject it. Before every meal
the widow told Huck he had to say grace. Huck referred to this as having to grumble over the food
before they could eat it (14). She tried to teach him about Moses, until Huck found out Moses was
dead and lost interest. The comments made by Huck clearly show both women as hypocrites, scolding
Huck for wanting to smoke and then using snuff herself and firmly believing that she would be in
heaven: Here she was bothering me about Moses, which was no kin to her, and no use to anybody,
being gone, yet finding fault with me for doing a thing that had some good in it. And she took snuff
too; of course that was all right, she done it herself (15). Huck shows his anger and dislike for the
values that were constantly placed on him by the Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson. They
both try to socialize Huck into a good boy. Huck was going stir crazy, made especially restless by the
sisters constant reminders to

Compare And Contrast The Constructivist And Liberal Point...
I think that the constructivist and liberal point of view have similar views about the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. The realist would go against both of the points and say that the military was the only way
that we could have solved this problem. But I think that if actors played a role and we used more
institutions it would have had a better outcome for the war. This is simply because liberals are liberals
can see interests as both objective and subjective. Social constructivists are people who think interest
exist, but they are never simply objective. I think that realist would strongly disagree with my point of
view about the war and the constructivist would agree but also have some suggestions to use more
norms and standards alongside using the governmental organizations.
The wars in Iraq and afghanistan have always been up for debate as preventive, preemptive and
defensive wars. Neta C Crawford defines a preemptive war as military action is undertaken to
eliminate an immediate and credible threat of grievous harm and can only be just if there is a justified
fear of an attack where the potential attacker has a clear intent to cause harm. (25). While a preventive
war is started when a state believes that a war with a potential adversary is possible or likely at some
future day and that, if it waits, it will lose important military advantages. While a defensive war is a
war that is taken in self defense and to protect one s country based on an attack that was

Social Disorganization In The 1920 s
Background on the Chicago Theory
In the 1920 s, a group of sociologist known as the Chicago School tried to expose the relationship
between a neighborhood s levels of crime and the characteristics. Many researchers tried to understand
why certain population moved to certain parts of that city. Some say that the structure of the
community shapes the routine of its inhabitants which will affect the crime rates. Studies show that
neighborhoods with high criminal behavior also have high levels of social disorganization. Social
disorganization, according to dictionary.reference.com, is a disruption or breakdown of the structure of
social relations. Social disorganization also refers to the failure of social institutions or the social
organizations in certain communities.
Back in the late 1950s, around WW1 and the Great Depression, there were times of growth and
change. A trend in that time period was that many cities were experiencing huge growth population,

differences in respects to an audience s appeal. An appealing movie is one that has an alluring

created an abundance of thought for a modern audience. Therefore, Hawke s Hamlet was more
appealing to an audience in respects to the setting and the mood.
In these two movies, the right music and visuals had to be chosen in order to get the ambiance Hawke
and Branagh tried to obtain. Each director chose different music and images that were very visual and
auditive for an audience s appeal. In Hawke s version, visuals of New York and Times Square were
appealing to an audience. Modern music at the beginning of the film caught the interest of the younger
generation. As well, close ups of Hamlet were revealing to an audience and it was easy to feel
infatuated by the character s nihilistic despair. Branagh s version used supernatural and dark visuals of
ghosts, statues, and castles to produce feelings of awe and fear. The scene of the ghost was quick and
staggering, and it created an automatic feeling of anxiety and fear. As well, the traditional use of
classical music did a skillful job of creating suspense. Both directors appealed to an audience by using

The Financial Responsibility Of Higher Education
Two years ago, I comfortable raced through the last months of my High School career. However, apart
from imperatively aiming my attention over my studies, I unwittingly turned the rest of my focus on
fiddling matters, which haplessly settled into habits. Instead of reading a book, I settled for a movie;
instead of improving my tennis abilities, I watched others improve theirs; instead of taking a full night
s sleep, I harped my guitar s strings through the night.
As a longed spring often passes, graduation swiftly came and just as swiftly went. I began McHenry
County College with my head raised egotistically high, breezing by the first few weeks of my courses.
I, however, came to learn of the financial responsibility of higher education. With an older brother
transferring to the financially demanding Loyola University in Chicago, I decided to take my less
expensive tuition of my parents shoulders.
I quickly searched for a job, and soon landed one at Covidien (which has recently merged with
Medtronic). Covidien, a factory based medical device manufacturer, became my first job. In the light
of my new position, I was faced with many challenges. First, Covidien required labor intensive work,
work that I had never experienced before, work that nearly broke me my first week. Second, at that
time Covidien only required tenders for their 12 hour night crew, working 36 hours one week and 48
hours the next. The third and most painstaking task I decided to face was to balance a

Breughel s Icarus By Michael Hamburger
Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on
Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting should be analyzed and
the myth of Icarus should be known. Hamburger uses specific diction and attitude for purpose, and the
shift between the first and second stanza is noticeable.
In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who would be close to the fallen Icarus: the
ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeed in recognizing the rise and fall of Icarus

From labeling the observations of the characters, the second stanza mentions the actual events that
happed with a bitterness. Too late is the first sentence of the stanza, and gives off the vibe that no
longer there is a chance for redemption, and only ultimate doom is guaranteed. The short intonations
add to the effect, making it concrete fact in the readers mind. But what is too late? The shepherd s
observation or the option Icarus chose? Perhaps it was the shepherd s fault or the other characters fault
for failing to make the observations to save the angel, Icarus . Nevertheless, Icarus made his choice for
ever failed , Fallen with melted wings when, near the sun/ He scorned the ordering planet, which
prevailed to challenge superior forces, the sun and heat. Icarus was so captivated by flight that his
passion became his doom. Hamburger approaches this angle but as he uses the word scorn , it s as if
Icarus did it to spite the gods and his father with his magnificence. In the end, the planet won, jeering,
now slinks off, to rise once more . This phrase personifies the sun, giving an attitude of sweet victory
over the ignorant challenger at the end of the day. In the painting, the sun, itself, is setting, only to rise

At the close of trial proceedings, the judge informed the jury that they could find the eight accused to
be guilty even if the crime was committed by someone who was not charged. He also said that it was
not necessary for the state to know the identity of the bomber or to prove that the bomber had read any
of the articles or poster of the charged anarchists. Though the judge, prosecutor, and jury can be
considered misguided in their bias and actions of injustice, some of the witnesses against the accused
are widely acknowledged as liars. In comparison to the eyewitnesses of the defendants, every part of
their details went against those of the witnesses of the police.
Though the defendants faced prejudice and discrimination, they kept on with their cases and appeals
until the verdicts were determined. The attorneys of the accused were Black and Swett. Along with the
allegation that Grinnell s witnesses were lying, the defending lawyers said that none of the eight had
intended for any form violence and they even offered proof that some of the accused were not even
near Haymarket Square on May 4th. Furthermore along with their apparent innocence, six of the eight
were not present when the bomb went off, and the two that were there, Spies and Samuel Fielden were
both in plain view of the crowd and police. Despite the logic of the defendant s case, passion and
prejudice led the jury to conclude that the bombing was a direct result of a deliberate conspiracy.

By combining these alternatives, Tesu has the highest chance of success in terms of profitability,
improving liquidity and solvency, and decreasing the collection period for accounts receivable to

Pro Forma Analysis
In the expansion proposal planned for Tesu, an increase in prices will prevent further losses. By
increasing even as little as 10% for all products currently manufactured by the company, they will be
turning a profit. A more dramatic price increase will alleviate of some of the strain of the company s
current production. However, this could negatively impact EMT as they are the ones who are
purchasing from Tesu.
Additionally, Tesu will also have to gain additional funds to finance their operations. In April 2013,
the company will have to borrow about 260,000€ in order to meet their financial obligations.
However, this does not account for the 250,000€ previously unpaid wages outstanding. In the
following month, Tesu must acquire 450,000€ to cover the cost of the planned increase production,
which goes towards the parts they purchased in April. Moreover, their accounts receivable collections
are very low in April and May, because they produced and sold a small amount in January and

certainly not true that there is in the mind of man any universal standard of beauty with respect to the
human body (source G). Using this and many other points from varying sources I will answer these
long disputed questions. So what is beauty? People most often think of beauty as a very specific

have seen a friend go from the happiest person on earth to someone who looks like they need help, in
the matter of seconds because they made a mistake. Over three quarters of women on the survey I

  • 2. Gatt And Its Eventual Development Founded in 1995, the World Trade Organization (WTO) formally known as the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) would officially commence in the late 20th century with more than 123 nations taking part. The intergovernmental organization, which was established to regulate international trade, replaced GATT as of April 15th, 1994 following the signing of the Marrakesh Agreement by more than 120 global nations, and was officially legitimized more than 20 years ago on January 1st 1995 following GATTS s unsuccessful attempt in creating an International Trade Organization in 1948 (WTO, 2016). It must be noted that GATT is not an organization, but rather an agreement among multilateral nations eager to take part in global trade. GATT strived to remove the many boundaries and tariffs that restricted nationals from trading. The smaller number of tariffs there were, the more trade would occur; the more trade taking place between nations, the stronger a country would be. Though originally intended to serve as a subsidy of the United Nations in 1947 during the UN Conference on Trade and Employment in Havana, Cuba and as the primary regulator of multi national trade, the ITO failed final support and approval particularly from the US Government. In 1950, the United States Government Announced that it would not seek Congressional ratification of the Havana Charter, and the ITO was effectively dead (WTO, 2016). This left GATT the sole multilateral institution to govern world trade for half a century. The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was negotiated and signed by 23 nations at the Palais Des Nation in Geneva on October 30, 1947. GATT would officially legitimize on January 1st of 1948 and its founding members contracting parties included: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Burma, Canada, Ceylon, Chile, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, India, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Southern ... After the first American forensic lab was established in 1929 by the Los Angeles police department, using forensic sciences has been pretty much used in every major crime investigation (What is Forensic Science, p.1). What exactly is forensic science? According to an article put out by the University of Western Australia, Forensics is the term given to an investigation of a crime using scientific means. It is also used as the name of the application of scientific knowledge to legal matters (What is Forensic Science, p.1). Forensics is fairly open ended; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We will discuss what this paper means by free action and indeterminacy, explore why Sider thinks indeterminacy is incompatible with free action, object Sider s arguments using Nozick s proposal of self subsuming weight bestowal, and investigate possible counter arguments to Nozick s proposition. The libertarian view requires a free action to be non random, uncaused and could have been done otherwise . However, indeterminacy suggests that a prior event provides a clue of a range of probable future events. Thus the indeterministic version of event is not uncaused. To explore the possibility of indeterminacy to be compatible with free action, we have to tolerate this shortcoming. Therefore in this essay, we will regard a person who acts freely as someone who could have non randomly chosen other than the chosen non random event. Whether the event is caused or uncaused is driven out of the equation. Sider argues that an indeterministic world governed by the law of probability inherently entails decision to be made by chance. Suppose Amir has 75%, 20%, and 5% probabilities of choosing a sandwich, a burger, and an orange for his lunch respectively. Imagine one hundred parallel worlds exist. Using the Kolb s Learning Cycle (1984), I will chronologically reflect upon my experiences of IPE, considering concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation and active experimentation. After having exchanged pleasantries, individuals seemed coy and as theorised by Tuckman (1965), it was inherent that our team was in the forming stage of development within a small group. Polite and perfunctory conversation took place, which made it difficult to progress with the task in hand. Having worked as a member of teams in the past, it was pertinent to use what little time we had wisely and I felt it necessary to adopt the role of a team leader, akin to that theorised by the Hersey Blanchard Situational Leadership® model. Here, I styled my leadership in the manner of selling the task providing information and direction which, accompanied by communication from individuals in the team, would lead to the sale of the task and potential delegation of responsibilities and progression with it. These individuals are normally jumping, laughing and representing every idealistic way of life by manifesting the idea of a blind promise. Unfortunately, these images are not only created with the intent of being manipulative, but also to resemble the present history involving societal roles. At the moment, Ads are able to capture the political ideologies or the social influences in order to represent the position of modern times. On the other hand, the Versace brand recently released a new campaign on Fall clothes bringing to light a different topic. At a quick glance, the Versace Advertisement depicts the everyday family of four. However, through John Berger s Ways of Seeing, the picture represents the hegemonic portrayal of male dominance, the suppressive forces of society on women, and the influence publicity has on the surveyed. Through this lens, one can understand the social relations and expectations publicity creates for individuals. According to Berger, men in society signify an omnipotent authority. The hegemonic belief that men must be masculine and worthy of power has been a cultural view since the beginning of time. The Victorian Era was a time where your social status could be construed as directly correlating to whom said individual could socialize with, marry, or have any ties too. Perhaps maybe there weren t three individuals that knew this more than the three of Wuthering Heights Edgar Linton, Catherine Earnshaw, and Heathcliff. • 15. The Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing For Students Clammy hands, extreme anxiety, and increased heart rate are all symptoms that occur along side standardized tests. Standardized tests have found their way into the center of American education. These achievement tests are used to determine a student s performance in particular content areas for a certain school year. The student s scores are then cross referenced to the scores of all other students that took the same test (Haladyna). Many students work hard during their educational careers, only to do poorly on a standardized test and lose their chances at being accepted into any decent college. Standardized tests are not beneficial to the student nor to the teacher and are sometimes even harmful. Students should be given standardized tests less frequently and educators should place less emphasis on scores students receive on these tests. Standardized exams favor upper class majority students, decrease the quality of public education, and ineffectively measure a student s achievement. By using standardized tests to measure a student s academic ability and achievement, the education system is giving the upper hand to higher class, racial majority students. Standard exams are racially biased and include questions that favor white students. One study showed that average reading SAT score for white students was 99 points higher than the average reading score of black students on the same test (Jaschik). Elastic fibres, as their name indicates, are extremely elastic and help in the elastic recoil of the skin and that is the reason why they are more abundant in the dermis of the face, scalp and the extensible organs, such as tendons and arteries [91, 92]. 2.2.2.3 Extrafibrillar matrix The extrafibrillar matrix includes a ground substance (glycosaminoglycans), dermal fibroblasts, dendritic cells, mast cells, histiocytes, blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics [85]. As much as the widow Douglass tries to adopt conventional religion upon Huck, he continues to reject it. Before every meal the widow told Huck he had to say grace. Huck referred to this as having to grumble over the food before they could eat it (14). She tried to teach him about Moses, until Huck found out Moses was dead and lost interest. The comments made by Huck clearly show both women as hypocrites, scolding Huck for wanting to smoke and then using snuff herself and firmly believing that she would be in heaven: Here she was bothering me about Moses, which was no kin to her, and no use to anybody, being gone, yet finding fault with me for doing a thing that had some good in it. And she took snuff too; of course that was all right, she done it herself (15). Huck shows his anger and dislike for the values that were constantly placed on him by the Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson. They both try to socialize Huck into a good boy. The realist would go against both of the points and say that the military was the only way that we could have solved this problem. But I think that if actors played a role and we used more institutions it would have had a better outcome for the war. This is simply because liberals are liberals can see interests as both objective and subjective. Social constructivists are people who think interest exist, but they are never simply objective. I think that realist would strongly disagree with my point of view about the war and the constructivist would agree but also have some suggestions to use more norms and standards alongside using the governmental organizations. The wars in Iraq and afghanistan have always been up for debate as preventive, preemptive and defensive wars. Neta C Crawford defines a preemptive war as military action is undertaken to eliminate an immediate and credible threat of grievous harm and can only be just if there is a justified fear of an attack where the potential attacker has a clear intent to cause harm. (25). While a preventive war is started when a state believes that a war with a potential adversary is possible or likely at some future day and that, if it waits, it will lose important military advantages. To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting should be analyzed and the myth of Icarus should be known. Hamburger uses specific diction and attitude for purpose, and the shift between the first and second stanza is noticeable. In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who would be close to the fallen Icarus: the ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. From labeling the observations of the characters, the second stanza mentions the actual events that happed with a bitterness. Too late is the first sentence of the stanza, and gives off the vibe that no longer there is a chance for redemption, and only ultimate doom is guaranteed. The short intonations add to the effect, making it concrete fact in the readers mind. But what is too late? The shepherd s observation or the option Icarus chose? Perhaps it was the shepherd s fault or the other characters fault for failing to make the observations to save the angel, Icarus . Nevertheless, Icarus made his choice for ever failed , Fallen with melted wings when, near the sun/ He scorned the ordering planet, which prevailed to challenge superior forces, the sun and heat. Though the judge, prosecutor, and jury can be considered misguided in their bias and actions of injustice, some of the witnesses against the accused are widely acknowledged as liars. To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head though, I got the image of a girl. It has been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her with nothing more than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn t really an island that she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally, unable to deal with the world with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she was actually away on an island. What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact that even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it again, it s nowhere close to how reality is.
