Ancient Egypt Religion
The Egyptians had a very strong religion. The characteristics of the Ancient Egyptian religion can be
divided into five elements of authority, faith, rituals, moral code, and the gods worshipped. The main
authority of the Egyptian religion was the Pharaoh, he had divine right over the people and was
considered a god. Also, he could change the religion any way he wanted. Religion in Egypt played a
very significant role. Their religion was greatly inspired by different customs and traditions. Egyptians
main goals were to mirror the conditions which they believed existed at the beginning of
creation.Egypt was governed by the pharaohs who were given the authority at the command of the
Egyptian gods. This belief was so strong in ancient Egypt that all through the nation s history
pharaohs assured the public that they had obtained the power to reign from the ancient Egyptian gods.
Throughout the 3000 year period of the religion of Egypt was encompassed of a very complicated
system of Egyptian gods and goddesses. They were the one who studied the knowledge of both the
sacred mystery teachings and the religious philosophies of the times. Pharaoh appointed different high
priests to perform the sacred rituals at different temple because he could not carry out ceremonies at
all the temples all over Egypt. Priests in Egypt often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Globalization, Glt1, Task 1 Essays
Globalization Western Governors University Globalization refers to the development of an integrated
world economy, exchange of cultural views, thoughts, and products (Wikipedia, 2013). Pologeorgis
(2012) states that, essentially globalization began with the exploration and settlement of new lands.
Communication and transportation advances have aided in this process. Two non Western countries
that have been impacted by globalization are India and China. India opened its doors to globalization
during the nineteen nineties following an economic crisis in which the country almost defaulted on
loans (Balakrishnan, n.d.). Before globalization India purposely isolated itself from world markets and

Western culture has had an impact on traditional Chinese society. The West s impact can be seen in the
advertisement of Western products, acceptance of Western business, and change of thought to accept
Western ideals. Examples of this include the prevalence of foreign companies in the country like
McDonalds, Nike, and Marriott. A change in ideals was expressed by Jaffe (2012) who wrote that
while living in China she noticed that foreign advertisements often featured Western models. Curious
about this she asked her Chinese friends about it. They explained that by Chinese standards big eyes,
fair skin, and a pronounced nose was thought to be beautiful. Western influence in China seems to
only be influencing major cities with villages only being influenced by globalization when it is forced
upon them like it was during the 2008 Olympics when one town was displaced so that Olympic
facilities could be built (Ames, n.d.). Some would also suggest that the influence of Western media
through the use of the internet, or American media had led to a loss of their traditional language as the
people begin to speak chi English (Chang, n.d.). From all of this is plain to see that globalization can
have positive and negative effects upon a society, but a country that refuses to open its doors to the
world face economic stagnation and poverty for its people. Those

Plano Social Environment
In the city of Plano in Texas, hydrogen sulfide has been released by the inadequate sewer lines causing
terrible smells throughout the city. The constant release of the smell can lead to serious health
problems for the citizens. This article relates to Week 3 Lecture about Physical and Social
Environment, which describes the terrible smell, which is hydrogen sulfide has an indoor and outdoor
pollutant. As an indoor pollutant, the smell enters people s homes through their toilets. As an outdoor
pollutant, sewers lines were poorly designed leading to the release of hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen
sulfide as an indoor and outdoor pollutant is detrimental to people s health because people are exposed
to the gas by breathing in the air from all areas. The article relates to the community level of the
ecological model. In the article, the city installed carbon air filters and sealed the manhole covers as
they continue to monitor the levels of sulfide in the air. This shows that the Plano officials are
concerned about the effects of the hydrogen sulfide and the long term effects it could have on people.

Irony in Catch 22 by Joseph Heller Essay
Irony in Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary Irony is 1.) the use of words to express the opposite of
what one really means 2.) incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the
expected result (380) In Catch 22 the type of irony that Heller uses is the second definition incongruity
between the actual result of a sequence of events and the expected results (Merriam Webster
Dictionary 380). For example in Catch 22 Heller writes Actually, there were many officers clubs that
Yossarian had not helped build, but he was proudest of the one on Pianosa (18). You would have
expected Heller to write he was proudest of the club that he built but he says the opposite and that ...

The comic formula Catch 22 sums up man s position on am absurd universe, and the novel shows that
is applies to every aspect of life: to war, to love, to business, even to religion. (Colmer 210)
Part of the irony that envelops Catch 22 is the use of it s extremely creative dialogue and scenes in the
story. Heller places the reader in a atmosphere where comedy shouldn t be able to exist at all, but
Heller somehow puts a reverse on the normality and creates a memorable scene. Heller invents
dialogue rich in humor and pathos in order to fit the serious religious and philosophical implications
of Catch 22 into his comic novel. (Colmer 212)
The comedy that Catch 22 brings is ironic in itself, think how can you get humor out of war which
entails pain and suffering, that beats me how Heller does it but by whatever means used Heller creates
a complete package of humor and real life occurrences which is a great fete in itself. Though it s
comic formula riddle, Heller s novel expresses the apparently inescapable human predicament.
(Colmer 213)
The irony is also that Heller points to something more deep and unknown that war, pain, and suffering
itself. In this way Heller points to the inner realms of mans consciousness and sanity to find a
completely different and unique personality

Robert Frost Metaphors
Robert Frost is a poet who typically writes poems of saddened tone with losses being a significantly
recurring motif. After seeing his wife and four children die before him for various reasons and
unsuccessfully attempting several endeavors, Frost lived this life of depression, which he translated
into many of his poems such as Goodbye and Keep Cold, Dust of Snow, Oven Bird, and Nothing Gold
Can Stay. Throughout his poems, Frost utilizes various rhetorical strategies, such as metaphors and
allusions to present the theme that one must learn to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones while
they still exist. Outside of his poetry, Frost had a profound passion for growing apples. In Goodbye
and Keep Cold, Robert Frost discusses the safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an orchard is located near the outskirts of a large farm property, the farmer probably does not
preserve it as proficiently as he or she would with the trees closer to the heart of the farm. The speaker
s orchard lies at the edge of the dark... so young in the bark... at the end of the farm (1,2,4). The
physical location that the speaker describes sounds as though the speaker has forgotten or rejected the
orchard at a young age, or has almost disowned it, as Richard Poirer puts it in his critical essay, On
Goodbye and Keep Cold. Furthermore, the statement at the edge of the dark implies that the speaker is
interacting with the orchard late at night when it is dark and cold as if he or she had other important
business outside of the orchard during the day; the speaker waited for a later time to deal with the
orchard. With that being said, Frost wants his readers to believe that this is an absurd ideal to keep an
orchard which provides fruit for those living in the farm out in the distance. This relates to Frost s
theme that one must learn to treasure his or her belongings while they still exist. If the speaker
continues to reject the orchard, the orchard will not continue to bear fruit for the speaker. This also
pertains to Frost s extended metaphor that relates to the death of his daughter. Out of experience, Frost
indirectly informs his readers that it is wise for one to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones as
they still

The History Of Nanocomposites During World War II
The History of Nanocomposites Before the use of nanocomposites, humans have used natural
composites to improve their welfare and way of life throughout history. The Mesopotamians would
use natural adhesive to glue wood pieces in different ways to make plywood. Archaeologists have
found multiple natural composites used by ancient civilizations, but one of the most prevalent was the
use of straw. Utilizing straw allowed these civilizations to increase the strength of their building
bricks, thus making there shelters stronger. This is how natural composites were first used by early
humans. In the 1930s, numerous synthetic composite technological breakthroughs were born. In 1935,
Owens Corning launched the fiber reinforce polymer (FRP) industry by introducing the first fiber
glass. In 1936, unsaturated polyester resins were patented. Because of their curing properties, they
would become the dominant choice for resins in manufacturing today. In 1938, other higher
performance resin systems like epoxies also became available. (Cite) The creation of FRP was vital to
the military during World War II due to its notably high to strength to weight ratio. Not only was FRP
used for electronic housings and other electronic components, but was also used to create the first
fiberglass reinforced boat hull. The war efforts spawned copious amounts of commercial products
made with FRP. This is how synthetic and natural composites were revolutionized during the 20th
century. A

Improving the Efficiency and Effectiveness of the School...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Oxford dictionary (2014) defines a route as a path for getting to a certain destination from a start
off point. The world is a global market and the journey of continuous expansion is on the rise. The
demand for goods and services span from within immediate environments but also transcend cities,
borders and continents. Logistics and transportation is a crucially important part of the manufacturing
process, however the focus of this report is not on the supply chain from manufacturer to consumer
but focuses on the management of logistics and transportation under the School Bus routing Problem.

The SBRP however belongs to a larger class dubbed the Vehicle routing Problem (VRP).
The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) can be defined as a logistics problem that involves the design of
best possible routes for the pickup and delivery of students from a start off point to a destination,
where each student is dispersed over a large area. (Laporte, 1992)
There are various problems associated with the VRP, these problems include; Capacitated VRP, VRP
with Time windows and VRP with pickup and delivery to name a few. The Vehicle routing problem
has several variations. Some of these variations are;
School Bus Routing Problem (SBRP)
Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP)
Capacitated VRP (CVRP) (Toth and Vigo, 2002).
The SBRP has been dealt extensively in various literature, although approaching the problem in
different ways.
Newton and Thomas (1974) where one of the first authors to tackle the SBRP, however their theory
strongly supported the concept of a homogeneous fleet of vehicles.
Preparation of data, selection of bus stops, generating bus route, adjusting the school bell time and
scheduling the route was applied in a paper where the above listed items were treated separately and
then addressed in that particular order (Desrosiers et al., 1981). As

My First Vacation Destination
In the summer of 2016 my family and I took a 2 week vacation to a couple different locations we all
wanted to visit. We decided to drive to our first destination, which was a 13 hour drive! On the way to
our first destination, we stopped in Athens, Alabama to stay the night and aquire some grub. We were
able to eat some dinner while we were at the hotel and we ordered the most incomparable pizza ever!
The pizza place s name was Joe s Pizza The owner s name is Joe and has multiple Guinness World
Records for his pizza making skills. All the pizzas are hand made and put into a brick pizza oven to
accommodate just the right doneness and taste. Then after that mouthwatering night in Athens,
Alabama we decided to drive on and continue to our first vacation destination. After a couple restroom
breaks and some lunch we finally arrived at Splash Resort in Panama City, Florida! The ocean was
breathtaking and as magnificent as ever it was one of those how can anything be so beautiful kind of
things. It just made me speechless, the water was perfect, the air was warm, and I just wanted to jump
right in and start swimming in the water. While in Panama City we did a couple different activities.
Some of which included, obviously going to the beach for a couple of days.

Analysis Of Silko s Yellow Woman And Walker s Everyday Use
Heritage
Have you ever been at Christmas dinner and you were so interested and intrigued by your
grandmother s story that you wish you could place yourself in her shoes right then and there? Well
these two stories that I am going to analyze will do just that. I will prove that Silko s Yellow Woman
and Walker s Everyday Use are inherently drawn to traditions of the past. First, I will show how
identity is a common factor in both stories and plays such a large role in connecting the main
characters and their past traditions. Second, I will illustrate how both stories are linked to symbolism,
which will give proof to my claim that they are inherently drawn to their past traditions. Finally, I will
show that the use of irony plays a part in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An interesting note which I will bring up later to give proof to my claim, is that when Walker was 8
years old, she was shot in the eye with a BB gun. After the incident, she became very self conscience
and felt like she did not fit in with the world around her. This helped her find her calling in writing. As
I noted in my thesis, I believe identity plays a very significant role in both of these short stories.
Specifically, I believe identity is the primary theme which inherently draws the characters in these
stories to traditions of their past. In Silko s Yellow Woman, identity was the main internal conflict for
the yellow woman. From the story we know that the yellow woman was a daughter, mother, and a
wife. In addition, we see that the yellow woman makes references to the stories that her grandfather
used to tell her. This clearly illustrates that her heritage, culture, and family play a huge role in her life.
For example: My old grandpa liked to tell those stories best. There is one about Badger and Coyote
who went hunting and were gone all day, and when the sun was going down they found a house. There
was a girl living there alone and she had light hair and eyes and she told them they could sleep with
her. Coyote wanted to be with her all night so he sent Badger into a prairie dog hole, telling him he
thought he seen something in it. As soon as Badger crawled in, Coyote blocked

Middle English Prehistory Essay
Prehistory refers to a time period in the past before the introduction of writing, or the time before
history was written by the people. Another definition states that prehistory is the time and a series of
events before and eventually led to the development of something (e.g. a certain material or
philosophy).
Moreover, the University of Leicester define prehistory as a study of the human past from 3.2 million
years ago wherein the first stone tools were made, until the modern era. There is no strict time period
of prehistory, and a prehistory of a certain area may end later than that of the other. For example,
Britain ended its prehistory when the Roman army arrived there, while in Australia, hunter gatherers
have been dwelling in that continent at the instant of the European invasion in the 18th century.
Practically, prehistory is more concerned with the lives of the people during those times and how the

Drug Resistance to Tuberculosis
For years now drug resistance is increasing and not just in one or two strands of bacteria, it is in all of
them. This resistance makes treating a patient with the infection more difficult to the point where
some strands require surgery. Tuberculosis is not a bacterium that you can easily remove from the
body though. It takes time and medication for the tuberculosis to be eradicated from the body. The
problem is with the advancements of medicine bacterium, like tuberculosis, are starting to produce
resistance to not just one or two drugs here or there, but the bacteria is producing resistance for
multiple drugs at one time. Tuberculosis does show any different physical signs than regular
tuberculosis. Both forms of tuberculosis show coughing for more than 3 weeks, coughing up blood or
mucus, chest pain, fatigue/weakness, weight loss and loss of appetite, fever, and chills (1).
Tuberculosis is easily caught by a new patient because the air that is contaminated by a carrier of the
bacteria who has been in the room for a rather long time. Meaning if a person visits the carrier and
goes into the carrier s bedroom for an extended length of time, then that person could possibly

where a person lives, and if that person developed tuberculosis in the past. These factors all

Auguson Smith Religion
Huston Smith, explores, the various processes in which man could transcend the austere and lucid
form of being to a more enlightened one. Smith, explores this notion, in the context of religion, and
mainly the various religious traditions and practices that attempt to enlighten and save one s soul from

notion of transcendence and the important role of religion in facilitating the enlightenment of the mind

Persuasive Ethical Issues
Time is an element of nature that while it may seem limitless, it is proven to be limited. Time in
perspective of the world and existence is said to be unyielding while time in perspective of humans
has an indefinite end of some odd decades. Time cannot be extended, taken away, or stopped as it is
not able to be manipulated by human means. The delicate balance of time runs on a continuous cycle
that seeks to have no end. What if, metaphorically speaking, time could be extended? Through
scientific innovation, life extension therapies and medications are in the making to help extend the
lifespan of humans from 70 90 years old to 100 120 years old. Although this theory may seem
glamorous, it does raise some ethical issues as to whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extra time can be great if the human body s aging process could be spread out over 120 years like it is
over 80. If aging were spread out, then quality of life might not be so bad. Martien Pjinenburg and
Carlo Leget made the statement that, Quality of time outweighs quantity of time. The argument of
quality over quantity can be brought up into many issues, but the most prominent being about life. As
insinuated in the beginning, if the quality of a long life is poor, then the subject may be more apt to
contemplate suicide as a means to escape constant worldly torture. If quality of life is positive, the
subject would be more apt to take the longer life given as a blessing instead of a curse. The extension
of human life is an ethical issue that depends on the person. The issue of poor life quality such as
physical decrepitude will be brought out more in the older generations. Selfish family members that
want to prolong a possible family member s life through this method is really just inhibiting the family
member if their current condition is poor. Good intentions can be misguided in instances where one
person doesn t want another dying so they preserve them just so they don t have to go through the pain
and heartache. In Listening to Public Concerns About Human Life Extension, it is stated by the
authors that the most commonly worried concept is quality of

The British Colonies in the New World Essay
The British Colonies in the New World
Several historians often examine significant points in history in attempt to discover the reasons the
events occurred. The aforementioned statement applies to the American Revolution as countless
number of books has been written concerning the American colonies decision to declare independence
from England. Woody Holton and Bernard Bailyn are two historians who have probed the subject and
reached two separate decisions about the revolution. Focusing on the fears and threats the colonists
felt, Bailyn identifies England as the threatening force against the colonists, while Holton gears
towards those within the colonies.

Then there is power, a word that is richly connotative (Bailyn 56). Bailyn identifies the colonists
understanding of the term as the dominion of some men over others, the human control of human life:
ultimately force, compulsion (Bailyn 56). Power is not necessarily evil by its lonesome. However,
when power is coupled with the intentions of men, it becomes evil. The connection between the terms
is that liberty is a victim of power for the aggressiveness of power was the fact that its natural prey, its
necessary victim, was liberty, or law, or right (Bailyn 57). Therefore, the two could not be
intermingled. If one longed for liberty, he or she could not stand for power simultaneously for the
mere existence of power negates liberty.
The concepts of power and liberty are present in both Holton s Forced Founders and Bailyn s
Ideological Origins of the American Revolution. However, the terms are utilized in Bailyn s book and
implied in Holton s. In regards to Bailyn s interpretation, the colonists feared England s want for
power as it interfered with their interests. The colonists believed that England was corrupted due to
individual need for power. Because of the alleged corruption, the colonists right to liberty were
threatened for there existed a conflict of interest between the colonists and Britain. Mother England
was dominate, thus if she wanted power instead of liberty, she would have

The Advantages of Color Vision Essay
When we think of color vision, we imagine the variety of colors the human eye can see. Perhaps
people may believe having color vision is a huge benefit for animals as opposed to having dichromatic
or even monochromatic vision. If that would be the case, then why do not all the animals have color
vision? A thought to keep in mind is what is the purpose of seeing color for animals. We will dive
deeper into how color vision may play a role in the lives of animals and humans. The different groups
of animals we will examine are the marine animals, wild Neotropical monkeys, primates, and humans
as well. The first area that will be covered will be animals with monochromatic vision. We must know
what it means to have monochromatic vision before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The heterozygote superiority hypothesis is in question because it states that animals that have
trichromatic vision have a fitness advantage over those that do not (Fedigan 1). This is referring to
animals who have less than three cones of vision. There is a group of wild Neotropical monkeys that
have polymorphic vision. This means the group has members that either have dichromatic or
trichromatic vision. The thought is the trichromatic members can find fruits or fresh leaves better than
those with dichromatic vision because of distinguishable colors of fruit that can be seen with
trichromatic vision (Fedigan 1). This idea fits the heterozygote superiority hypothesis. At first the
hypothesis seemed correct based on a study that used tamarins because the one with the three cones of
vision was able to spot patches of food more easily. The issue that comes into play is that there is no
good evidence for wild populations. Work that was done on Capuchins to see who had an advantage
on feeding based on the type of vision they had. The result was that neither seemed to have a
significant advantage over the other. Because animals are able to use other senses when foraging for
food trichromacy may in fact provide little advantage (Bunce 1060). More studies were conducted by
Linda Fedigan to find out the survival rate of infants whose mother had either trichromatic or
dichromatic vision. The

The Differences Between Buddhism and Hinduism Essay
Both Buddhism and Hinduism are well known religions. They are two of the most popular polytheistic
faiths in the world. Some people believe them to be sects of the same religion, but they are mistaken.
Buddhism and Hinduism have some similarities, but many things set them apart from each other as
well. They are each their own religion in many aspects.
Buddhism and Hinduism come from the same region, India. Both of them are very focused on nature,
the things around them, though they both believe in several hells and heavens, or higher and lower
worlds. They both believe in karma which is the affect a person s actions in this life will change his

different paths of self realization. Both religions believe in karma and reincarnation, but their terms

like the Hindus do. Also, in the Buddhist religion, any follower than achieve Nirvana, but in the Hindu
religion, only the Brahmins, or priests, could achieve moksha, the Hindu equivalent of Nirvana.
Another large difference is that Buddhists do not believe in the Caste System, a main factor in
Hinduism. This is one of their largest differences. Hinduism does not know their original creator,
unlike most other religions; they ve lost any information about their founder over the many years,
whereas the Buddhists know their creator, Buddha. Buddhism is a much younger religion than
Hinduism. The two religions are very much different.

Motorcycle Club Themes
I went into this book expecting it to be a mix of Sons of Anarchy and Katie McGarry s other books
like Pushing the Limits and I can honestly tell you that she blew my expectations out of the water. Yes,
it still reminded me of Sons of Anarchy and now I have a huge urge to binge watch it all on Netflix
but it was so much more than that, too.
The idea about a motorcycle club being featured in a book is quite fresh, since I have never read any
book about motorcycle gang. Additionally, it s not everyday that you stumble upon a book where such
themes are portrayed through the story especially when intended towards a younger audience such as
this is. The thing is, though, McGarry handles it in such a way that makes almost every single

They fought against it as much as they could. For many reasons, they shouldn t be together. The most
important of those reasons would be their families. Their relationship could ruin Oz s chance of

sudden these feelings for Emily were interfering with it. I simply adored their friendship, and I loved
the sexual tension between the two. As with all of Katie McGarry s couples, it s nearly impossible not

I loved the emphasis on family in this book. From Emily s parents (mother, adoptive father and
biological father) down to Oz, his family, and the club, which was a family in and of itself, these
characters had such a strong protectiveness for each other, especially when it came to one of them

Speech On Procrastination
Procrastination, a college student s worst enemy, but closest friend. I ve developed this habit where I
wait until the very last minute doing an assignment. It has gotten to the point where the clock is
ticking down to the last few minutes and I am sitting at my desk just now starting the assignment.
What do I do to get in this sticky situation you ask? I do everything but the thing I m supposed to do.
Although I would have earned better grades from doing things days before it s due, I ve mastered the
technique of putting it off till the last minute. It s a bad habit I picked up, but not one that i ve tried to
quit.
RECEIVING THE ASSIGNMENT
Procrastinating comes in a few stages, the first is receiving the assignment. Receiving the assignment
and due date sparked the lies of oh I ll start this as soon as I get home, or I m actually going to get this
done early so I don t have to worry about it. So i psych myself up to be motivated to finish it early
although it never works out that way.
The Professor of the class usually makes a comment of This isn t something you can do the night
before it s due. Well obviously in college anything is possible, and they know that at least half of the
class is going to do it the night before its due anyways. As soon as the class gets over the paper gets
stuffed in my backpack and remains forgotten until I stumble upon it crumpled in the bottom of the
bag. Realistically, i do know about the assignment it s just filed in the part of

Tax Evasion And Tax Avoidance
1.0 Introduction and Purpose of the Research
Over the years, the government has tried to combat tax avoidance and tax evasion schemes through
various approaches such as improvements to existing legislations, strict enforcements and
collaborations with international counterparts. This is done in effort of protecting the government s
main source of revenue and the integrity of the tax system. However, clear and distinctive boundaries
between tax evasion, avoidance and planning were never established in the legislation, hence, it has
caused many uncertainties. In Australia, the Court provides the judicial interpretation as to the
application of the tax law.

2.0 Concepts and Impacts of Tax Evasion, Tax Avoidance and Tax Planning
2.1 Tax evasion, tax avoidance and tax planning
Distinctions between tax evasion, tax avoidance and tax planning are sometimes difficult to be drawn
in clear and precise manners. In general, however, tax evasion typically relates to illegal practices
done intentionally to avoid tax payment, whereas tax avoidance refers to legal exploitations on the
shortcomings of the tax legislations (Barkoczy 2015, p. 721; Leow, Murphy Hooper 2010, p. 1026).
Generally, tax evasion involves concealment of tax liabilities, such as failure to disclose all taxable
income earned, and improper claims, such as deductions for expenses not incurred (Barkoczy 2015, p.
721; ATO 2015a). Due to its legal implications, tax evasion is considered as criminal offence and
attracts pecuniary penalties and jail terms for the offenders (Barkoczy 2015, p. 722). Conversely, tax
avoidance, although uncommendable, is not illegal. Tax avoidance typically involves taking advantage
of concessional tax rates, shifting funds through several entities to minimize tax payable (ATO
2015b), and exploiting tax breaks (ACTU 2011). Some examples of tax evasion and avoidance
practices can be seen from the following figure.
Figure 1 Source: GIZ 2010, p. 19
Unlike tax avoidance which tends to bypass the spirit of tax law (Barkoczy 2015, p. 721), tax planning
is a legitimate way of minimizing tax liabilities, if done in

A Career Goals For A Career In Medicine
It is common for a child to be asked: what do you want to be when you get older? For me, the answer
has always been the same. Growing up I became fascinated with medicine, and I knew that I would
have a career in medicine. My fascination began when my parents gave me a toy telephone that said,
Thank you for calling Dr. Johnson s office, how may I help you? and from that point on my
fascination slowly began to grow into reality. By me pursuing a career in medicine, it will not only
allow me to uphold my institution s motto of Culture for Service, but it will allow me to provide
health services to those who cannot help themselves. While I will be satisfying my need to serve my
community, I will also be achieving my career goal. At a young age, my career goal was set, but not
everyone accepted my decision. The response I received from my grade school teachers and peers was
negative and many suggested that I considered a different career. My eighth grade English teacher
even suggested that I chose a more realistic career. If someone told me 10 years ago that I would
graduate from an illustrious institution with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry, I would have
laughed in their face. The odds were never in my favor; my father is a high school dropout with a
GED and my mother is a custodian. Even with the odds against me, I fought to push forward, follow
my dreams, and prove everyone who doubted me wrong. Many times, I even doubted myself, asking

Dna, Gene Expression, And Basic Patterns Of Heredity
Introduction
This unit will focus on DNA, gene expression, and basic patterns of heredity. The main objective of
this unit is to provide opportunities for students to learn general concepts that are associated with
genetics and to create a better understanding of inheritance and its relationship to genetic diseases.
According to standards set by the Next Generation Science Standards which are endorsed by the
National Science Teachers Association, students should be able to analyze and interpret data to
provide evidence that plants and animals have traits inherited from parents and that variation of these
traits exists in a group of similar organisms. Additionally, students should be able to ask questions to
clarify the role of DNA and chromosomes have in coding the instructions for characteristic traits
passed from parents to offspring (NGSS, 2016). Students should have the opportunity to learn how
genetics affects past generations as well as learn how genetics and inheritance influences our past,
present, and future. Understanding even the simplest genetic cross requires combining inferences
about two complex processes: how genetic traits are inherited through meiosis and mating, and how
these traits interact to produce the external differences seen in parents and offspring. Students should
also have opportunities to learn the basic concepts of genetics that provide an increased understanding
of heredity, DNA, and specifically genetic diseases (MDE, 2010). The ultimate

Globalization, Glt1, Task 1 Essays Globalization Western Governors University Globalization refers to the development of an integrated world economy, exchange of cultural views, thoughts, and products (Wikipedia, 2013). Pologeorgis (2012) states that, essentially globalization began with the exploration and settlement of new lands. Communication and transportation advances have aided in this process. Two non Western countries that have been impacted by globalization are India and China. India opened its doors to globalization during the nineteen nineties following an economic crisis in which the country almost defaulted on loans (Balakrishnan, n.d.). Before globalization India purposely isolated itself from world markets and was in a state of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western culture has had an impact on traditional Chinese society. The West s impact can be seen in the advertisement of Western products, acceptance of Western business, and change of thought to accept Western ideals. Examples of this include the prevalence of foreign companies in the country like McDonalds, Nike, and Marriott. A change in ideals was expressed by Jaffe (2012) who wrote that while living in China she noticed that foreign advertisements often featured Western models. Curious about this she asked her Chinese friends about it. They explained that by Chinese standards big eyes, fair skin, and a pronounced nose was thought to be beautiful. Western influence in China seems to only be influencing major cities with villages only being influenced by globalization when it is forced upon them like it was during the 2008 Olympics when one town was displaced so that Olympic facilities could be built (Ames, n.d.). Some would also suggest that the influence of Western media through the use of the internet, or American media had led to a loss of their traditional language as the people begin to speak chi English (Chang, n.d.). From all of this is plain to see that globalization can have positive and negative effects upon a society, but a country that refuses to open its doors to the world face economic stagnation and poverty for its people. The comic formula Catch 22 sums up man s position on am absurd universe, and the novel shows that is applies to every aspect of life: to war, to love, to business, even to religion. (Colmer 210) Part of the irony that envelops Catch 22 is the use of it s extremely creative dialogue and scenes in the story. Heller places the reader in a atmosphere where comedy shouldn t be able to exist at all, but Heller somehow puts a reverse on the normality and creates a memorable scene. Heller invents dialogue rich in humor and pathos in order to fit the serious religious and philosophical implications of Catch 22 into his comic novel. (Colmer 212) The comedy that Catch 22 brings is ironic in itself, think how can you get humor out of war which entails pain and suffering, that beats me how Heller does it but by whatever means used Heller creates a complete package of humor and real life occurrences which is a great fete in itself. Though it s comic formula riddle, Heller s novel expresses the apparently inescapable human predicament. (Colmer 213) The irony is also that Heller points to something more deep and unknown that war, pain, and suffering itself. In this way Heller points to the inner realms of mans consciousness and sanity to find a completely different and unique personality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After seeing his wife and four children die before him for various reasons and unsuccessfully attempting several endeavors, Frost lived this life of depression, which he translated into many of his poems such as Goodbye and Keep Cold, Dust of Snow, Oven Bird, and Nothing Gold Can Stay. Throughout his poems, Frost utilizes various rhetorical strategies, such as metaphors and allusions to present the theme that one must learn to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones while they still exist. When an orchard is located near the outskirts of a large farm property, the farmer probably does not preserve it as proficiently as he or she would with the trees closer to the heart of the farm. The speaker s orchard lies at the edge of the dark... so young in the bark... at the end of the farm (1,2,4). The physical location that the speaker describes sounds as though the speaker has forgotten or rejected the orchard at a young age, or has almost disowned it, as Richard Poirer puts it in his critical essay, On Goodbye and Keep Cold. Furthermore, the statement at the edge of the dark implies that the speaker is interacting with the orchard late at night when it is dark and cold as if he or she had other important business outside of the orchard during the day; the speaker waited for a later time to deal with the orchard. With that being said, Frost wants his readers to believe that this is an absurd ideal to keep an orchard which provides fruit for those living in the farm out in the distance. This relates to Frost s theme that one must learn to treasure his or her belongings while they still exist. If the speaker continues to reject the orchard, the orchard will not continue to bear fruit for the speaker. This also pertains to Frost s extended metaphor that relates to the death of his daughter. Out of experience, Frost indirectly informs his readers that it is wise for one to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones as they still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The History Of Nanocomposites During World War II The History of Nanocomposites Before the use of nanocomposites, humans have used natural composites to improve their welfare and way of life throughout history. The Mesopotamians would use natural adhesive to glue wood pieces in different ways to make plywood. Archaeologists have found multiple natural composites used by ancient civilizations, but one of the most prevalent was the use of straw. Utilizing straw allowed these civilizations to increase the strength of their building bricks, thus making there shelters stronger. This is how natural composites were first used by early humans. In the 1930s, numerous synthetic composite technological breakthroughs were born. In 1935, Owens Corning launched the fiber reinforce polymer (FRP) industry by introducing the first fiber glass. In 1936, unsaturated polyester resins were patented. Because of their curing properties, they would become the dominant choice for resins in manufacturing today. In 1938, other higher performance resin systems like epoxies also became available. (Cite) The creation of FRP was vital to the military during World War II due to its notably high to strength to weight ratio. Not only was FRP used for electronic housings and other electronic components, but was also used to create the first fiberglass reinforced boat hull. The war efforts spawned copious amounts of commercial products made with FRP. This is how synthetic and natural composites were revolutionized during the 20th century. A ... The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) can be defined as a logistics problem that involves the design of best possible routes for the pickup and delivery of students from a start off point to a destination, where each student is dispersed over a large area. Analysis Of Silko s Yellow Woman And Walker s Everyday Use Heritage Have you ever been at Christmas dinner and you were so interested and intrigued by your grandmother s story that you wish you could place yourself in her shoes right then and there? Well these two stories that I am going to analyze will do just that. I will prove that Silko s Yellow Woman and Walker s Everyday Use are inherently drawn to traditions of the past. First, I will show how identity is a common factor in both stories and plays such a large role in connecting the main characters and their past traditions. Second, I will illustrate how both stories are linked to symbolism, which will give proof to my claim that they are inherently drawn to their past traditions. Finally, I will show that the use of irony plays a part in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An interesting note which I will bring up later to give proof to my claim, is that when Walker was 8 years old, she was shot in the eye with a BB gun. After the incident, she became very self conscience and felt like she did not fit in with the world around her. This helped her find her calling in writing. As I noted in my thesis, I believe identity plays a very significant role in both of these short stories. Specifically, I believe identity is the primary theme which inherently draws the characters in these stories to traditions of their past. In Silko s Yellow Woman, identity was the main internal conflict for the yellow woman. From the story we know that the yellow woman was a daughter, mother, and a wife. In addition, we see that the yellow woman makes references to the stories that her grandfather used to tell her. This clearly illustrates that her heritage, culture, and family play a huge role in her life. For example: My old grandpa liked to tell those stories best. There is one about Badger and Coyote who went hunting and were gone all day, and when the sun was going down they found a house. There was a girl living there alone and she had light hair and eyes and she told them they could sleep with her. Another definition states that prehistory is the time and a series of events before and eventually led to the development of something (e.g. a certain material or philosophy). Moreover, the University of Leicester define prehistory as a study of the human past from 3.2 million years ago wherein the first stone tools were made, until the modern era. There is no strict time period of prehistory, and a prehistory of a certain area may end later than that of the other. For example, Britain ended its prehistory when the Roman army arrived there, while in Australia, hunter gatherers have been dwelling in that continent at the instant of the European invasion in the 18th century. This resistance makes treating a patient with the infection more difficult to the point where some strands require surgery. The connection between the terms is that liberty is a victim of power for the aggressiveness of power was the fact that its natural prey, its necessary victim, was liberty, or law, or right (Bailyn 57). The heterozygote superiority hypothesis is in question because it states that animals that have trichromatic vision have a fitness advantage over those that do not (Fedigan 1). This is referring to animals who have less than three cones of vision. There is a group of wild Neotropical monkeys that have polymorphic vision. This means the group has members that either have dichromatic or trichromatic vision. The thought is the trichromatic members can find fruits or fresh leaves better than those with dichromatic vision because of distinguishable colors of fruit that can be seen with trichromatic vision (Fedigan 1). This idea fits the heterozygote superiority hypothesis. At first the hypothesis seemed correct based on a study that used tamarins because the one with the three cones of vision was able to spot patches of food more easily. The issue that comes into play is that there is no good evidence for wild populations. Work that was done on Capuchins to see who had an advantage on feeding based on the type of vision they had. The result was that neither seemed to have a significant advantage over the other. Generally, tax evasion involves concealment of tax liabilities, such as failure to disclose all taxable income earned, and improper claims, such as deductions for expenses not incurred (Barkoczy 2015, p. 721; ATO 2015a). Due to its legal implications, tax evasion is considered as criminal offence and attracts pecuniary penalties and jail terms for the offenders (Barkoczy 2015, p. 722). According to standards set by the Next Generation Science Standards which are endorsed by the National Science Teachers Association, students should be able to analyze and interpret data to provide evidence that plants and animals have traits inherited from parents and that variation of these traits exists in a group of similar organisms. Additionally, students should be able to ask questions to clarify the role of DNA and chromosomes have in coding the instructions for characteristic traits passed from parents to offspring (NGSS, 2016).
